Case Study Of Povidone Iodine
A clinical study to compare role of povidone iodine and pressure at extraction site.
ABSTRACT
Aim: This study was aimed to evaluate the hemostyptic action of povidone iodine by irrigation into
alveolar sockets post extraction against the use pressure compression alone.
Materials and Methods: This study included 30 patients (16 males, 14 females) between age group of
20 to 60 years. Patients who required extraction between time period of December 2015 to January
2016 were included in this study. The patients were divided equally into treatment and control groups.
Povidone iodine (1%, w/v) was used for irrigation, post extraction in the treatment group and pressure
compression was used in the control group.

How Did Indiana Become A State
The history of Indiana is very important to why Indiana became a state. Some things in that history
includes the early life, Post Revolution, and recent history. The early life of Indiana includes the
Native Americans, Settlers, and the wars that happened. There were many tribes in Indiana. Some of
the most important tribes were the Miami people and the Pokagon band of Potawatomi Indians. The
Miami tribe spook Miami Illinois, it is an Algonquian language. The men in the Miami tribe hunted
buffalo and made forest fires so the big animals would come to them. The Miami tribe originally lived
in Indiana, Illinois, and Southern Michigan. The Potawatomi Indians spook Central Algonquin. The

Michael Jordan Leadership Paper
Study of a Contemporary leader When sitting down and thinking about a leader that I wanted to write
about, and eventually stand up in front of people and talk about was a lot harder of a thing to do than I
originally thought. There are so many different types of leaders that people follow and are drawn to,
for so many different reasons. Whether those reasons follow a certain beliefs like that of cults and
religions, or if they simply follow leaders because they were just born with all of the necessary skills
and attributes that helps them relate to people, everyone follows a certain type of leader because of
their own personal reasons. This leads me to why I chose my leader to talk about in this paper.

It wasn t until his junior year of high school that Jordan finally won a game against his older brothers.
But even still, only standing at 5 11 as a sophomore Michael Jordan did not make varsity and had to
play on the junior varsity team. This drove him to work even harder because he was fully confident
that he could play with the older kids. Every single day after his normal basketball practice, Michael
would go home and worked on his game even more, day in and day out. This drive and determination
helped him get on the varsity team the next two years. He went on to average 25 points a game his
junior and senior year at Laney High School in North Carolina. Michael s senior year he received the
nomination to play in the McDonalds All American Team. Also during his senior season Michael was
offered a full ride scholarship by North Carolinas coach Dean Smith to play for the Tar Heels. With
Jordan having such a competitive edge, motivation, charisma, and drive he was able to become the
most important player on their team, and a strong leader for the players around him. During his time at
North Carolina, Michael Jordan led his team to victory in the NCAA Division 1 championship in
1982, when he scored a buzzer beater against Georgetown University to win. Michael Jordan was also

Case Study #1: Non tariff Barriers to International Trade 1. In the Xia case, if the WTO were to rule in
favor of Brazil, which of the WTO trade agreements would contain the justification and why? Answer:
Brazil banned imports of Xia goods from China because there was allegations and unconfirmed
speculation pertaining to China s use of hazardous materials (for example, lead paint and potentially
carcinogenic plastic and rubbers) to manufacture toys cheaply, which sparked consumer panic around
the globe. The imports of Xia goods were banned until the test was performed to guarantee that these
goods do not possess any health risk. The Chinese government completely refuted this claim and

Answer: The Chinese government would reduce or eliminate the quotas and other measures which
until now have protected domestic production of soybeans from cheaper imports. China s
consumption of soybeans ballooned by more than 160% between 2000 and 2011 when import barriers
were removed, but the area planted with soybeans declined by 20% during those same years. Chinese
farmers were simply unable to compete with imported soybeans that were RMB 300 to 600 (US$45
90) cheaper per ton than domestic beans. Imported soybeans now account for three quarters of the
soybeans processed into cooking oil and feed in China, the products of soybean crushing. If China is
able to prove that domestic soybean producers are not able to survive because of low cost imports
from Brazil, the WTO ruling would be in favor of China and such measures would be upheld.
However, if such measures were used as retaliation to Brazilian ban on Chinese toys, the WTO ruling
would be in favor of Brazil and China would not be able to restrict import of Soybean from Brazil.

Women During The 1800 s
Throughout history, it is seen that women were always treated like they were less than a male. While a
great amount of women hid and did what they were told, some women fought for their rights and took
a stand. For some women, this included getting a medical degree, or doing public speaking. During
the 1800 s, there were multiple women that fought for women s rights by sticking up for themselves
and not letting people down grade them for being female. One women that beat the odds, and did what
no woman has done before was Elizabeth Blackwell. She was the first woman in the United States to
receive a medical degree and she helped to break down prejudice against women in medicine

The Treaty Of Versailles Was A War Of Slaughter On A New...
The Treaty of Versailles was first and foremost the end to World War 1, the Great War. The Great War
was a war of slaughter on a new scale as all countries involved had suffered massive loss of life; 1.8
million Germans, 1.7 million Russian, 1.4 million French, 1.3 million Austro Hungarians and 750
thousand British soldiers. As a result, the victors were bitter and were uninterested in Woodrow
Wilson s promise of a gentle peace agreement. They wanted to receive money and territory as
compensation. Even before the guns fell silent in 1918, the voices plaintive, demanding, angry, had
started. China belongs to the Chinese. Kurdistan must be free. Poland must live again ... They
complained: the Slovaks about the Czechs the Croats about the Serbs; the Arabs about the Jews; and
the Chinese about the Japanese. Margaret Macmillan (2001) (Paris 1919: Six Months That Change the
World)
The French demanded the most in reparations because the war had been fought almost exclusively on
French territory, and the French had sustained the heaviest loses and damages among the Allies, after
Russia, who had already negotiated a separate peace treaty. Also, Germany had invaded France 50
years earlier and the French wanted to prevent another German offensive. France was determined to
squeeze the maximum sum from the prostrate foe, not only to secure revenge, but to render Germany
powerless in the future. Margaret Macmillan (2001) (Paris 1919: Six Months That

Self Portrait In A Straw Hat Essay
The two paintings which will be compared and contrasted are entitled Woman with a hat by Henri
Matisse and Self portrait in a Straw Hat by Elisabeth Vigee Le Brun. Both of these artists have used
the portraiture as a subject and have chosen painting as their art form and oils on canvas as their
medium. However, each of these artist s interpretation of their artwork is very different. Matisse has
concentrated on colours as he has applied a mixture of brilliant colour all across his subjects face, hat,
dress and even the background, whereas Vigee Le Brun has focused on showing extreme reality in
order to demonstrate her painting skills which will be explored further.
Each artist has used a different style in their painting. Vigee Le Brun ... Show more content on

Both portraits are paintings that include a woman and a hat. Though Matisses art is a portrait of his
wife while Le Brun is painting portrait of herself. In each of these portraits the artists have approached
it differently and have different intentions and meanings. Matisses use of bright colours communicate
his painting subjectively and the loose brush strokes made the painting look almost unfinished which
was essentially the artist s move towards an expressive individual style. Matisse is communicating
subjectively as he has used colours not to imitate nature but to produce a reaction in the viewer. The
hat is being used to show that she is an upper class woman. In Matisse s portrait Amelia is holding a
fan which is seemingly important as it s used to show mood, while in Le Brun s self portrait she is
holding a paint palette. The hat is important to the painting as in fact it is the main purpose of his
painting. As the painting is entitled, Woman with a Hat . Le Brun s self portrait represents how she s
painting it in the first place straight up. Hence, she is trying to communicate and put things in the
painting to give clues about what she s about and what she does for a living subjectively. It is also a
means of representing her physical attributes, self portraiture, her place in society and her style. And
therefore she is subjectively communicating herself. As she was

The Effect of Salt Concentration on Osmosis in Potato
Part A:
Title: Diffusion
Diffusion is the spontaneous movement of particles from where they are more concentrated to where
they are less concentrated. For this experiment, a 14 cm glass was filled with cold tap water. A drop of
red food coloring was dropped in the cup. A stopwatch was used to measure the time it took for the
food coloring to get to the bottom of the cup. The average diffusion rate was .78 cm a second. If a
different color was used, I do not think it would have made a difference in the results. The mood of the
person experimenting could possibly alter the results. For example, if a person is under stress, they
may accidentally squeeze too much altering the rate of diffusion. If the water was warmer, this may
have sped the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You should consider each of the four solutions and explain what happened using the terms hypertonic
hypotonic and isotonic. In osmosis, the flow of the water from or to a cell depends on whether the cell
is immersed in a solution that is isotonic, hypotonic, or hypertonic to the solution. If the cell is isotonic
to a solution, this means that the solute concentration of a cell and its environment is the same and
therefore there will be no movement of water. If the solute concentration is lower than that of the cell,
then water will flow into the cell, causing it to expand. If the solute concentration is lower than that of
the cell then water will flow out of the cell, causing it to shrink. 2. Were your hypotheses right or
wrong? Tell how those hypotheses would have to be modified in another experiment. My hypotheses
were correct. 3. What mistakes (uncontrolled variables) might have affected how the results came out.
Suggestion: Think of all the places in your method and materials where accuracy may not have been
the best. Describe several. There could have been several variables that could have affected the results
of this lab. One would have been if the salt measurements were incorrect. If more or less salt was
added than realized, this would have caused the results to be incorrect. Another variable could have
been the size of the potatoes being measured incorrectly. If

Analysis Of The Movie The Tv Series Californication
American Culture can be displayed in many forms in a variety of shows, but the TV series
Californication is one that expresses both the good and the bad parts about living in a modern society.
Californication is about a self loathing writer named Hank Moody trying to repair his relationship with
his daughter Becca and her mother Karen while simultaneously trying to fight his sex addiction, his
budding addiction to drugs and the inability to stop making bad decisions (Kapinos, IMDb). This
show depicts American Culture through the main characters lives through tragedy, family, romantic
relationships, and friendships.
Starting with Hank Moody, he is the main character in this show he is a successful novelist who up
and moves from New York to Las Angeles, California to turn his novel into a screenplay. Which he
ultimately ends up hating and is unhappy about it on many accounts throughout the show (Kapinos,
netflix). From the lack of motivation to write and the alcohol and drug binges California has
ultimately changed Hank for the worse. This really shows that there are bad parts about American
culture it tells us how drugs have become a normal part of some people s lives. Hank can be described
as intelligent, sarcastic, a smooth talker and a womanizer. Despite his love for women and drugs Hank
s ultimate goal is to be a good father to his teenaged daughter Becca and the loving and supportive
partner he should be with Karen.
Hank s life seems more like a downward spiral of

Until 2011, Catherine Zeta Jones was known as the Academy Award Winning for best supporting
actress for her role in Chicago. Then, she stunned her fans by saying that she has been diagnosed with
Bipolar II disorder and is seeking treatment for it. To be diagnosed of bipolar II disorder, it s necessary
to meet the following criteria for current or past hypomanic episode and criteria for current or past
major depressive disorder. Also the occurrence of hypomanic episode and major depressive disorder
should not be better explained by schizophrenia, or other specified or unspecified schizophrenia
spectrum and other psychotic disorder. Hypomanic episode is period of abnormally and persistently
elevated mood and abnormally and persistently increased energy present most of the day, nearly every
day for 4 consecutive days. The change in functioning and disturbance in mood are observable by
others. The episode is not due to physiological effects of a substance. It is not severe enough to cause
impairment in occupational or social functioning or to necessitate hospitalization. But if there are
psychotic features, then it is labeled manic. The episode is associated with unequivocal change in
functioning that is uncharacteristic of individual when not symptomatic (American Psychiatric
Association, 2013). And finally the last criteria is, during the period of increased energy and mood
disturbance, three or more of the following symptoms must persist: inflated self esteem, increase in

Kierkegaard And Communism
On first and second glance, it may appear impossible to draw any concrete connection between the
philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard, a seventeenth century Danish Philosopher who worked heavily on
existential themes, faith, and Christianity, and the Soviet Union. On one hand, Kierkegaard himself
lived his life almost solely in Denmark, rarely leaving his own hometown, so his experience of the
World outside of Denmark was extremely limited and focused on his world, especially the world of
the Danish National Church. On the other hand, the Soviet Union embraced Communism, and with it
its atheistic stances on social and political implications of religion and religious institutions, the Soviet
ideology would appear to stand in opposition to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to attempt this sort of analysis, there are a number of factors that must be addressed first, with
the most crucial being the understanding of Kierkegaard, his relevant works, and his Philosophy.
Søren Aabye Kierkegaard was born in 1813 in Copenhagen to Ane Sørensdatter Lund Kierkegaard
and Michael Pedersen Kierkegaard, the latter a pastor of the Danish National Church. According to
Daniel Conway, a professor of Philosophy and the Humanities at Texas A M, although influential
today for his diverse contributions to the fields of philosophy, theology, rhetoric, literary theory, and
depth philosophy, Kierkegaard was widely known in his own day as a provocative social critic
(Conway 2015, 1). He was highly critical of the church in his hometown, and the Danish National
Church in general, in addition to Christianity and what it meant for one to have faith in the almighty.
Thus, much of Kierkegaard s work deals with faith and Christianity to some extent, as seen with Fear
and Trembling, the work that will be most heavily sourced within this thesis. Kierkegaard s Fear and
Trembling was written and published in 1843 under the pseudonym Johannes de Silentio. Kierkegaard
often wrote and published his works under different pseudonyms, each often having some sort of
significance to the work in which it is situated. The significance of the pseudonym of Fear and
Trembling, according to the author of

One of the primary benefits of this program would be the information and resource sharing. Today s
military forces currently hold a level of operational experience not seen in decades. For over ten years
our forces have been increasing their effectiveness in a multitude of security and reconstruction
efforts. As the level of violence along the border increases the US Customs and Border Agents are face
with a new kind of enemy tactics that can be perceived as middle ground between current border
operations in Afghanistan and the historical security issues along the border. A melding of the military
tactics used to train Afghani security force on the protection of their own border, historical US
Customs and Border tactics and techniques along with effective rules of engagement can reduce
violence and illegal cross border flows. An initial cross training between military tactics subject matter
experts, military mission planning subject matter experts and operational Customs and Border Patrol
agents can be much more efficient and effective than training a group of new agents. The ground

The Defeat Of The Spanish Armada
At the start of the attack, the Spanish Armada made way towards England, but word traveled fast
about their location. When Spain s Armada came into view, there were men off of the coast of England
and Wales ready to make haste to give word of where the Spanish are. In order to spread word of the
arrival, the men lit beacons that sent word to other positions until it finally reached the Queen
(Sharnette). Due to the help also from spies, Queen Elizabeth was able to have inside information
about the idea of what will become of the Spanish idea and it helped England assemble their own
ships for the future encounter ( The Defeat of the Spanish Armada: 1588 ). In Preparation for the near
hopeful invasion, Queen Elizabeth I started to collect funds to help pay for the necessities needed to
fuel her own improvement to ready her and her men. During this time another campaign was going on,
which consumed most of the funds, but despite that the Queen made all of her efforts towards the
raising money to help prepare for the anticipated encounter with Spain (Sharnette). With the English
fleet becoming more whole and an actual object, they were ready to meet Spain s notorious Armada.
Queen Elizabeth gave the position of commander of the fleet to Charles Howard. Howard had great
success in being in charge due to delaying the launch of the Spanish Armada ( The Defeat of the

Biopure Corporation: Case Write Up Problem Definition In February 1998 Biopure Corporation faced
a difficult decision regarding the launch of its newly developed blood substitute products. Biopure had

veterinary market1. Hemopure was still in the process of gaining Federal Drug Administration (FDA)

When considering the marketing mix we must look at the various products in the portfolio of Biopure.
There is a dilemma because one of Biopure s products is approved and the other is not. The impact of
deciding to launch Oxyglobin initially and having to wait to release Hemopure has an impact on the
overall financial situation of the company as well as its competitive position within the market. The
other challenge that Biopure had is to decide how to price Oxyglobin should they release it to the
market. If Biopure adopts competition based pricing111 as suggested by some of the sales team, the
price sensitive nature of the veterinary market means that a price of $80 $100 per unit is considered to
be optimal4. Despite this, research shows that Biopure can adopt a customer based approach, or value
based pricing111. In critical cases, vets are willing to pay up to $150 per unit 80% of the time and pet
owners are willing to pay up to $300/unit 75% of the time12. This research suggests a higher price

The Pros and Cons of Participant Observation Essay
The Advantages and Disadvantages of Participant Observation as a Research Method
This essay will examine how participant observation is used as a research method. In the main body of
this essay, this idea will be addressed by pointing out advantages and
disadvantages of participant observation. I will give examples to support my argument.
Participant observation is the main research method favoured by interpetitivists. It involves the
researcher participating in a social group to observe and experience the
world as a participant while still observing the group for future analasys of their behaviour from the
researchers point of view. The researcher must decide how he will approach ... Show more content on

There are both advantages and disadvantages to participant observation. Participants face the problem
of objectivity, it is often very time consuming, for example,
Beverly Skeggs (1997), spent 12 years researching the lives of women on a caring course in England.
Participants also face dangers and can also find themselves in
situations they find morally unacceptable or illegal. Quantitative researchers samples are too small and
while the researcher may get the bulk of his/her information from
structured questions, they are not getting peoples true opinions. The conclusions can only apply to the
specific group which the researcher has studied and cannot be
generalised or replicated. The observer himself decides what information to select or omit and the fact
that the observer is present in overt observations, it is believed that
the group will not act naturally. This therefore questions the validity of the data collected. There are
also many advantages to participant observation compared with other
research methods. By preparing a questionaire, the researcher has already decided what questions he
wants to ask and what information is important to the study.

Music Education Importance
The Importance of Music Education
Plato the philosopher once said I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most
importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning. Funds have been
cut in more than 80 percent of U.S. school districts since 2008. The very first programs to go are often
disciplines such as music, art and foreign language. This is in order to create more funding for
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programs, also known as STEM. Although STEM
programs in public education are important, schools should include more music education because, it
increases brain activity, increases creativity in problem solving, and improves test scores.
Increases in brain activity
Build more brain matter.
Music education can actually increase brain activity and growth. One of the major things that studying
music in school can do for the brain is to increase the white and gray matter in the brain. In an article
by Christopher Bergland outlining ten ways music education increases brain activity. He said this about
a case studied from the Journal of Neuroscience(2015)
The researchers found that people who began musical training early in life had stronger connections
between motor regions. When comparing brain structure, musicians who started early showed
enhanced white matter in the corpus callosum, a bundle of nerve fibres that connects the left and right
motor regions of the brain.
This connection between the

The American Dream, And All Its Splendor (Great Gatsby)...
The 1920s were a decade of rebirth characterised by the founding of the quot;American
Dream quot; the belief that anyone can, and should, achieve material success. The defining writer of
the 1920s was F. Scott Fitzgerald whose most famous novel, The Great Gatsby, has become required
reading for present day high school students. We study Fitzgerald s novel for the same reason we
study Shakespeare. The literature composed by both authors contains themes and morals that continue
to be relevant to modern society. As a result, this novel could have easily been written in modern
times. In his novel, Fitzgerald criticises the American Dream by describing its negative characteristics:

I thought he knew something about breeding but he wasn t fit to lick my shoe (Fitzgerald 39). The
adulterous behaviour of Myrtle and Tom, as well as the carelessness of Daisy and Jordan, illustrates
the corruptibility of the rich.
Both Tom and Daisy are morally corrupt, having little concern for how they treat the people around
them. Daisy and her husband display their indifference to human values in episodes involving sexual
exploitation and careless violence (Fahey 72). The Buchanans are not the only shallow ones, Jordan is
incurably dishonest and her opinion that It takes two to make an accident, (Fitzgerald 63) is an attempt
to justify of her thoughtlessness. They were careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things
and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was
that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made, (Fitzgerald 187) says
Nick. Since the wealthy social class which they belong to is immoral, they can get away with being
corrupt; a corruption that comes from a false sense of security in their money, and the belief they have
achived the american dream.
One of the faults in the American dream is that it equates material wealth and possessions with
happiness. However, not everything, nor everyone, can be bought. Nick,

Essay about Carol Ann Duffy s Mean Time
Carol Ann Duffy s Mean Time
Carol Ann Duffy s poem Mean Time is about loss of love and the different ways in which time brings
about change or loss of life itself. The poem is very personal and autobiographical to Duffy s life as
are most of her poems. Mean Time is based on mourning your lost love and how regrets seem
meaningless when one day you get up and realise its not just time which has passed you by, but time
has stolen your life too, and in the end it will only be the mourning that you regret. The idea of time
and how it is finite is one of the main themes in the poem.

blame and they need to share mistakes, this shows the first sign of putting her life back together.
The poem moves on and tells us how she wants just one hour to be lifted so she would never have said
the words she did. This sets the tone for the whole poem; regret and longing. It makes the reader feel
that she has wasted enough time of her life on this one man, its time to move on. However one
moment she is regretting spending too much time mourning her lost love, now she is stepping over old
territory again, which makes the poem a bit cliché, so the sympathy for the woman is now lost.
One of the last important themes of Mean Time is conveyed in the final stanza, this is how time is
finite we will be dead because death is rapidly approaching everyone, which highlights the fact that
mourning is pointless. This is where the reader can relate to Duffy because they can share their
mistakes too because the events in the poem can happen to all most anybody. I believe that Duffy s
conclusion is do not let your heart take control of your life, you need to no when to move on.
The language throughout is very calm and well organised which helps

A Look Now At China
Look now at China. The earliest inscriptions we have unearthed are dated at 1400 B.C., and the use of
these inscriptions was, once again, for religious use. As in other cultures, this required a magician , or
a priest. The priest would heat an ox scapula or a tortoise shell until it cracks, and would then attempt
to read the cracks in order to answer a question. This reading often involved the priest carving the
answers into the bone under the guise of creating clarity (Lyons, 18). However fraudulent their
practices were, these priests had a huge influence on Chinese writing. The questions the priest s client
had would be written from top to bottom on the bone, and this is still the traditional direction of
Chinese script. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One con of using silk was its expense. Throughout the early world and the Middle Ages, silk was a
very time consuming product to produce. As a result, it could be sold for a higher cost, and the method
of producing it was, like the secret of producing papyrus, jealously guarded by the silk growers.
Another consequence of silk s value was that when scribes wanted to write important texts, they
would often need to write a rough draft on a jiandu strip before copying the perfected version onto the
silk. In about 104 A.D., a eunuch of the Chinese imperial court, named Cai Lun, changed the course of
writing s history by making the first sheet of paper (The Invention of Paper). To do this, he mixed
bamboo fibers and the inner bark of a mulberry tree with water, and then dried the pulp on a cloth
screen. With paper, writing became easier, more transportable, and, in general, less expensive.
Eventually, the technique for making paper spread to Korea, and from there some monks took the
process to Japan. Paper spread to Africa and Europe through the Arabs, who went on raids in China
and captured many Chinese soldiers and craftsmen. Before this happened, however, the Greeks and
Romans had to be crafty in finding new writing resources. The Romans, though they couldn t make
their own paper yet, had animal skins. Through this, they discovered that animal skins could be
stretched, cleaned, and bleached to create what was known

Human Rights Violations In Brazil
Human rights violations against women have, for too long, been denied the attention and concern of
international organizations, national governments, traditional human rights groups and the press.
Meanwhile, hundreds of millions of girls and women around the world continue to endure debilitating
and often fatal human rights abuses. These are only a few instances of abuse which occur every single
day all around the world. Human rights violations against women must be documented, publicized and
stopped.

Centuries of rule by various foreign authorities have reinforced the family as a location of power in
some Middle Eastern societies. (Ruggi, 144) Even today, the family is directly responsible for
defending its honor. In many communities, this means that murder in the name of honor is family
business, not frowned upon by the local community. As a result, the murderer is unlikely to be
reprimanded in court, and is seen as a hero by many.
One truly frightful story belongs to that of Samia Sarwar, a 29 year old Pakistani woman, mother of

Organized Exercise Analysis
The goal I choose to follow over the last two months was to have some form of organized exercise a
day, whether it be running, basketball, or lifting weights. When I first made the plan, it was to run
every morning at 11am and then again at 9pm, and any other exercise that happened to cross my way
that day I would also include. However, by then end of my trip I found my plan had changed much
from what it started as out. To help with the work of accomplishing this goal, I used two useful tools I
had that I thought would make it easier. Firstly, I had my parents send me a text every morning to
make sure I was awake and working out, or at least putting in some kind of effort to do something.
Second, whenever I went running I brought along my roommate ... Show more content on

that it would provide some challenge as I would have to go run twice every day, which would be good
exercise and it did turn out to be, so I would say that I did set a good performance goal. The barriers
that would prevent me from reaching my goal is laziness, having a poor diet, or doing something that
could prevent me from running, but more on that later. I overcame the barriers by having my
roommates and my parents always behind me motivating me to go and also coming with me. They
knew what I was trying to achieve and did everything they could to help me. I personally came over

This is significant for the discussion of ritual to note the difference in suburban villa house structure
verses the previously stated traditional Roman house. The Roman Villa has long been epitomized as
an elegant and luxurious refuge, and a haven removed from the commotion of everyday life. Even in
antiquity the time spent at villas were synonymous with pleasure, wealth, and leisure. As the letters of
Cicero and Pliny expressively demonstrate, the aim of every wealthy noble was to have several villas,
or country residences, preferably with immaculate views. This acceptance of more opulent style of life
has been regarded as an acculturation effect resulting from Rome s expanded rule into the western and
eastern Mediterranean, and their direct contact with the Hellenistic world. Roman aristocrats began to
desire lavish surroundings to match their sense of power and dominance. This new way of life called
for opening the house to the landscape and including gardens within the inhabited space. The Roman
Villa s clever orientation of porticos, dining rooms, and bedrooms to take advantage of particular
vistas shows that Roman aristocrats and their architects consciously included nature and the landscape
in their designs to enhance them and add a new dimension to the inhabitant s enjoyment. As one can

George Bush and His War Against Terrorism
When George W Bush came to the presidential office of America at the beginning of the year 2000,
there was already a lot of controversy that surrounded him. He was appointed Governor of Texas in
1995 and as of 7:30pm, December 7, 2000, 152 people have been executed during Bush s office as

Afghanistan. The attack is widely regarded as a failure though Bush will not admit it. In Afghanistan
the US army used a policy of blanket bombing , which was basically: bomb everything in sight, and
you re bound to hit something. This something was 1 nursing home, 2 Red Cross hospitals, 1 school
and hundreds of homes. They did manage, with the help of the anti Taliban group in Afghanistan, the
Northern Alliance, to find some arms caches and eliminate some Taliban members. Once people
realized that the operation in Afghanistan was a failure, Bush tried to regain his popularity by
announcing yet another controversial move; plans to attack Iraq. During the 1990 s Saddam Hussein,
the leader of Iraq invaded Kuwait, the worlds biggest oil producer, and the US and UN stepped in to
defend it. This was known as the gulf war and was a big success for the US, although they did not
manage to get rid of Hussein. Many people now believe that Bush is now trying to pick up where his
predecessor, Bill Clinton, left off and rid the world of Saddam Hussein and his oppression forever.
This is all fine and well, but they are completely unprovoked and have absolutely no reason to attack:

Why I Want To Be A Paramedic

Medical Technicians and Paramedics. My admiration intensified when I was injured in a vehicle

why I want to become an EMT/Paramedic. For example, being in the emergency responder field
requires you to work in an unpredictable and fast paced environment and be able to be alert and ready

Reign Of Richard II Essay

William Shakespeare

The Reign of Richard II
With Richard II, then, Shakespeare turns to the events that had launched England s century of crisis
(Bevington, 2014). These events were still fresh and relevant to Elizabethan minds (Bevington, 2014).
To begin with, we should not underestimate Richard s attractive qualities, as a man and even as a king
(Bevington, 2014). Richard is consistently more impressive and majestic than his rival, Bolingbroke
(Bevington, 2014). Richard fascinates us with his verbal sensitivity, his poetic insight, and his
dramatic self consciousness (Bevington, 2014). These qualities notwithstanding, Richard is an
incompetent ruler, compared to the man who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When John Gaunt died, Richard removed and exiled Bolingbroke.
Bodies talk first in throughout Richard II primarily because indulgence, in the garden of England as in
the Garden of Eden, is quickly branded the most significant threat to the stability of Richard s
monarchy (Hoffmann, 2009). John of Gaunt may be the only character to understand that appetite is as
much a matter of power as it is of desire, taste or need , and that to control appetite is to control power,
but Richard himself perceives and worries over the same relationship (Hoffmann, 2009). Just as
Genesis s garden of Eden, the cultural narrative of Richard s England demands that those judged
guilty of overindulgence be banished, along with their intemperate appetites (Hoffmann, 2009).
Richard II assumes, often to his own detriment, that his position at the top of the political food chain,
while it may not render him immune from threats, still gives him prerogative to banish those threats
before they materialize (Hoffmann, 2009). Furthermore, he executes these punishments without ever
defining exactly what it is he is punishing (Hoffman, 2009). He responds to perceived threats not as
examples/offshoots of his own vile participation, his own destructive appetites, but as already external
menaces, monsters/monstrosities that necessitate banishment and imprisonment outside the borders of
civilization (Hoffmann, 2009). Once banished, a

Internet is a short form of the technical term internetwork , the result of interconnecting computer
networks with special gateways (routers). The Internet is also often referred to as the Net.
Although the basic applications and guidelines that make the Internet possible had existed for almost
two decades, the network did not gain a public face until the 1990s. On 6 August 1991, CERN, a pan
European organization for particle research, publicized the new World Wide Web project. The Web
was invented by British scientist Tim Berners Lee in 1989. An early popular web browser was
ViolaWWW, patterned after HyperCard and built using the X Window System. It was eventually
replaced in popularity by the Mosaic web browser. In 1993, the National Center for Supercomputing
Applications at the University of Illinois released version 1.0 of Mosaic, and by late 1994 there was
growing public interest in the previously academic, technical Internet. By 1996 usage of the word
Internet had become commonplace, and consequently, so had its use as a synecdoche in reference to
the World Wide Web.
Meanwhile, over the course of the decade, the Internet successfully accommodated the majority of
previously existing public computer networks (although some networks, such as FidoNet, have
remained separate). During the late 1990s, it was estimated that traffic on the public Internet grew by
100 percent per year, while the mean annual growth in the number of Internet users was thought to be

Data Center Assurance Program Project
Process Analysis
Cisco Systems went ahead with modified version of waterfall model for Data Center Assurance
Program (DCAP) project. Though waterfall model is old and have less success rate, it suited DCAP
project quite well. As the goals and scope of the project is fixed throughout the project and release
cycles are about 6 8 months it is easy to use waterfall model. Partial overlap between various phases
existed. This allowed for parallel execution of few tasks and helped in effective resource utilization
and on time project delivery. All the engineers are involved in all the stages of the project. Also there
any enough resources to replace the ones who left the project. Standard disaster recovery practices of a
real time production data center are not fallowed, but those required for the project to replicate the real
time scenario are used. For instance, to make sure the real time environment like distance between two
data centers, wan emulators are used.
Effectiveness of Initial Planning The detailed analysis of requirements and studying the real time
scenario by visiting customer s location proved to be good in refining project goals. No all the project
members are given opportunity to study customer s environment which is practiced due to budget
issues. The decision to fallow modified version of water fall model fitted the project quite well. But
the overlapping of the phases is not quite long and proved deficient. This resulted in ineffective
resource utilization.

Wretched Catullus, Leave Off Playing The Fool
Introduction Over the history of the world there have been many great poets. One of the greatest poets
of the roman empire is Catullus. Catullus poetry is filled with strong emotion of being love torn. Even
though Catullus emotion filled poetry was written over 2000 years ago, it can still convey the painful
emotion of being love torn today.
Theme
Catullus poetry is based on his rocky affair with a women named Clodia. Clodia was married to a high
ranking Roman politician. In the poem Wretched Catullus, Leave off Playing the Fool, the pain of
being love torn in can be felt.
How much you loved her! More than any man
Can ever love. With her, what joy began!
That sunny world seemed yours in every way.
Yet now she does not want you, and alas,
You must not chase her nor live wretchedly,
Thus make your heart as hard as it can be.
So good bye, baby! Catullus now will pass... (6 12) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem I Hate and I Love shows this feeling of being torn between loving and hating Clodia: I hate

Conflicting emotions is a common theme of Catullus poetry. Another emotion that Catullus shows is
how he still holding out hope that Clodia will marry him. This is shown in the poem Lesbia Says She
ld Rather Marry me. Lesbia says she ld rather marry me / than anyone, (1 2). The pain of being love
torn but still holding out hope can be easily seen in Catullus

Thomas Edison’s History with the Incandescent Light Bulb
Thomas Edison s History with the Incandescent Light Bulb Who invented the light bulb? Only a few
really know the true answer to this question. Most people around the US simply think that Thomas
Edison invented the light bulb. The story or invention myth behind the bulb varies drastically from the
general public s belief. The belief is that a lone inventor, Thomas Edison, sat down in his workshop
and simply created the incandescent light bulb out of thin air. Edison in no way created the
incandescent light bulb out of thin air. He used the knowledge of previous researchers and inventors to
make a the first commercialized light bulb and gained world wide recognition as a result. According to
the U.S. Department of Energy, the first know traces of light can be tracked to Great Britain in 1803.
Humphry Davy created the first ever man made light seen in the World. He demonstrated the ability to
flow electric current through two pieces of carbon powered by a battery source creating a bright and
powerful arc. Some researchers give Mr. Davy credit as the inventor of light (DOE). Things took a
drastic change in 1835. James Bowman Lindsay was able to keep a constant electric current flowing.
He used parts of Davy s old design and simply improved it. His ability to keep current flowing
revolutionized the technology and created the first ever incandescent light bulb (Live Science). Edison

Multiple Choice, Binary Choice And Matching Questions Essay
Multiple Choice, Binary Choice, and Matching Questions
My greatest strength in writing multiple choice, binary choice, and matching questions is creating
scenarios for the multiple choice. I enjoyed writing these scenarios by making up stories that are
related to the content. I was also good at keeping track of what we have and what we needed to do.
Another strength I had was in creating binary choice question because there is only one right answer.
My greatest weakness was coming up with good alternate choices for the multiple choice. I had a hard
time with this because the ones that I came up with were either too obvious, not homogeneous, or too
similar. Another weakness I had was creating matching because I found it hard to make them all
homogeneous. They were also hard to make because we had to come up with different responses that
were similar in order for the premises not to stand out.
My contribution to the multiple choice, binary choice, and matching questions was that I created many
of multiple choice questions this was because I enjoyed writing the scenarios. I also wrote some of the
binary questions. I also contributed to the group by helping and collaborating on the matching. I also
help by keeping track of what we had in terms of number of different types of questions and the
number of learning objectives.
I would rate myself a ten out of a ten on my contribution to the multiple choice, binary, matching
questions because I did my share of crating the number

Discussion of the Importance of Multilingualism Among Yout...
Language is a system of representation that enables us to encode and convey meaning through the
production and combination of signs. (Neves, 2011) Multilingualism can, therefore, be described as a
person s capability to maintain and practice two or more languages in an environment. This concept is
quite commonly seen throughout South Africa as there is a total of eleven official languages. These
languages are critical in today s youth as they are exposed to a culturally diverse society which
enables them to broaden their thinking in every day life.
Language within societies can be broken down into two categories, namely Linguistic Determinism
and Linguistic Relativism. Linguistic Determinism proposes that different languages incorporate ...

During the years of language acquisition, the brain stores linguistic information but it also adapts to
the grammatical predictabilities of language. (Sakai, 2005) It is classified under Cognitive Psychology
and this development builds and enhances a child s communication skills in their schooling careers.
However, if children attend parallel medium schooling, they are likely never to learn and use one
language. They will be able to speak and write in both languages which is a positive aspect but they
may never have the full vocabulary or grammar rules as they are too busy learning both languages
instead of concentrating fully on one. The positive aspects of multilingualism outweighs the negatives
as being bilingual broadens one s opportunities in schooling, especially in tertiary education, as well
as one day when they are in search of jobs. A person is that much more employable and more likely to
be successful if they are able to participate and communicate effectively in a growing and changing
work environment.
Multilingualism can be seen as a vitally important factor amongst young South Africans as there is a
constant change occurring in the schooling and work environments. The drastic change from
Apartheid to the diverse and inclusive society today, where all languages are accepted and recognised
in South Africa s legislation, is the grounding and

Sephor A Retail Chain Of Perfume And Cosmetics Stores Essay
1. About Sephora
Sephora is a retail chain of perfume and cosmetics stores founded in 1969 by Dominique
Mandonnaud. It first started as a small perfumery in Limoges, France, called Shop 8 and was
revolutionary at that time due to its concept of assisted self service . The store had an open sell setting
where customers could try the products before they bought them and where the organisation of the
products was by type, not by brand as in every other store.
In 1993, Mandonnaud bought 38 retail cosmetics stores from the UK s Boots PLC chain and merged
them with the 12 Shop 8 stores that the company already had at that time. The stores were then
rebranded to what is known today as Sephora.
Although Sephora s initial strategy was to expand within France and its surroundings such as Monaco
and Luxembourg, after the company was acquired by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) in 1997,
it started pursuing a global international strategy. With every store around the world, Sephora
maintains similar products, overall atmosphere and services and every strategic decision is made by
the higher management at the headquarters.
Its first international store was opened in 1998 in New York City and the company began to expand in
the European market, starting with Italy. However, not every country was hospitable to Sephora s
expansion such as the United Kingdom, Spain and Japan, where the company struggled.
Nowadays, the Sephora brand is available in 31 countries having over 2000 stores

Arthur King. These powers are what Merlin is most known for but without his human powers Merlin
wouldn t be who we picture him to be today. Merlin has several human characteristics such as a gift of

Assessment of Santander Consumer Finance s Approach to Its...
Assessment of Santander Consumer Finance s approach to its international strategy In this report I
provide a critical assessment of Santander Consumer Finance s (SCF) approach to its international
strategy. In the first part, I analyse SCF s external environment by highlighting its history and business
model and also by applying Porter s five forces model. I follow by analysing SCF s internal
environment focusing on its structure and applying the resource based view model. I finish with a
critical assessment of SCF s strategy. In the second part, I evaluate SCF s managerial implications by
highlighting its strengths, weaknesses and potential solutions. Finally, I present some
recommendations for SCF s future strategy. I. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this situation where the manufacturers are neck to neck in competition, the indirect sale method of
SCF grasps what is left. It also manages to take a healthy share in the markets for used cars. The
bargaining power of the suppliers is limited to the type of deal they have with the dealers; it can either
be a baseline interest deal or the interest rate may vary. Automobiles manufacturers have different
criteria as they can manage to keep the interest rates lower than the ones set by SCF. The bargaining
power of customers is slightly greater than that of the suppliers. The number of suppliers in the market
is large and the consumer has the luxury of choosing from a variety of auto financing deals. The
market has thus transformed into one of the most important ones especially after the recent credit
Crunch. Interest was cut down to as low as 1% in some cases to boost sales. Overall, using the five
forces from Porter s analysis, it can be concluded that the consumer finance market in Europe and
America (where Santander majorly operates) is pretty competitive especially because of the fact that

Analysis Of Through The Tunnel By Doris Lessing
He was at the end of what he could do... he feebly clutched at the rocks in the dark, pulling himself
forward, leaving the brief space of sunlit water behind. He felt he was dying. He was no longer
conscious (Lessing 5). Through the Tunnel, written by Doris Lessing, follows the summer of a young
eleven year old English boy named Jerry. For many years, Jerry and his mother visited this beach,
getting to know many of the other families there. One year, however, Jerry had begun to lose interest
in the beach; he wanted to explore the nearby rugged and wild bay, where the older boys played. He
was no longer interested in the children his age on the beach; he wanted to be more mature like the
older boys on the wild bay, where they played more reckless games. The older boys dived into the
water and through an underwater tunnel to reach the shore, requiring much skill and perseverance that
Jerry did not have. Jerry, not being able to accomplish the feat, made a fool of himself and acted like a
child in front of the boys, making them go away; this fueled Jerry s passion to accomplish going
through the tunnel before his vacation was over. The setting of Through the Tunnel is influential in
representing Jerry s transition from a child to a young man with the beach representing his childhood,
the wild bay representing his adolescence, and the tunnel representing him becoming a mature young
man.
Throughout Through the Tunnel, the beach is used as a symbol for safety,

Plumbing Renovations
2 Plumbing Renovations To Consider For Your Retirement Home
If you re renovating a home to use after you retire, you probably want to make it senior friendly so
you can stay in it well into your golden years. One room that will need special consideration is the
bathroom. You may have trouble stepping over the tub to take a bath or shower when you get older.
You could have a walk in tub and walk in shower installed to make the bathroom safer for the time
you may develop mobility issues. Here s why these are good choices for senior living.
A Walk In Shower Provides Room For A Wheelchair
Although you may not like to think about it, you or your spouse may be in a wheelchair in your
advanced age. Even if you re not, you may need to sit in the shower or have a helper in the shower to
make sure you re safe. A walk in shower usually has more room than a standard shower in a bathtub.
This makes it easier for someone to help you, and for you to take in a shower seat or wheelchair.
Install a shower without a rim around the shower pan and you ll be able to roll a wheelchair inside and
continue to shower by yourself. When the plumber installs the handles and ... Show more content on

When you get older, you may need to avoid a traditional bathtub due to the difficulty getting in and
out of it. However, if you re a person who loves long, hot baths over showers, you would really miss
not being able to bathe. The solution is a walk in tub that is easy to enter. These allow you to soak in
hot water in a seated position so you can stand up and exit the tub easier too. Plus, some tubs have
water jets for massaging and relaxing your muscles and easing joint pain. When you renovate your
bathroom, have your plumber remove your old tub and place the walk in tub in it s place. You won t
have to wait until you re elderly to enjoy it since it will be like having your own little hot tub to take
away the stress of the day after

Juvenile Court Research Paper
Juvenile court is a type of specific court that functions within the judicial system. Every state has this
special courts that transact with juveniles, individuals between the ages of 10 and 18 in most states,
who have been suspected of violating an unlawful act. Adults are accused of crimes and juveniles are
commonly accused of delinquent acts. Subsequently, children have a lesser understanding of the
regulations, so they receive or are awarded special protections. They do not have all the constitutional
rights that adults have because they are minors. A minor could be tried as an adult and will not receive
special protections, if they have violated certain atrocious crimes. Although juvenile courts are for

Lord Woolf s The Civil Procedure Rules
Within England and Wales the Civil Procedure Rules govern the way in which a case should be
conducted within the courts. These rules were introduced in 1999 to enable the court within England
and Wales to deal with cases honestly and by restructuring the civil justice process they were able to
do. This was to resolve the cases quickly and effectively without utilizing court proceedings. The Civil
Procedure rules can be applied within the County courts, The High Court and The Civil Division of
the Court of Appeal. Lord Woolf put these new Civil Procedure Rules into place. Lord Woolf
published a final report in 1996, this final report analysed in detail what the reforms would fulfil and
whether they would be well received. This then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rule suggests that the legal representatives and their parties should assist the judges in order to
achieve the objective. Under section 1.1 of the Civil Procedure Rules it discusses the way in which
practitioners should behave in order to succeed . In 1999 the Civil Procedure Rules came into place
these rules were accompanied by Practice Directions , which replaced the Rules of the Supreme Court
and also the County Court Rule . These amendments allowed the rules to be simpler also providing an
extensive outline for a general application. Lord Woolf suggested that there should be a transformation
of the literature, which would be able to support the approach and the legal interpretation of words.
The new rules were created to have an accessible and equal attitude due the overriding objective. On
the other hand, the new rules did introduce many changes but many of them came from the old system
such as, before action begins the claimant has to communicate with the defendant; also the claimant
should take action within a fixed period. However every proceeding starts with the claim form; this
became the substitute for the writ, which was usually for the High court, and the summons for the
County Court. This allowed the new system to be much simpler and efficient compared to the old
system . The Pre action protocols were created to focus on the

Lh Detection
The systematic review is aimed to determine what methods have been used to identify the presence of
LH in diabetes patients treated with insulin. The result of this review reveals that there is little research
evidence to support the formulation of recommendations regarding the method of detection of LH.
Forty three papers (original articles and conference abstract) were included in the review. Three
detection methods for LH are in current use namely visual inspection, palpation and ultrasound.
Fourteen papers presented use of ultrasound to detect LH and found the prevalence of
LH in the range 14.5 86.5%, compared to thirty one papers using palpation. The prevalence identified
by palpation ranged from 14.5% to 54.9%. The variation in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, the current use of ultrasound to detect LH uncovers the need for further research, to build up
a scientific foundation for such methods. Strengths and Limitations of the study
This is the first systematic review focusing on LH in diabetes people treated with insulin. A specific
search strategy was design and and a rigorous approach to the literature search and critical appraisal
was followed. It included all published full papers and conference abstracts found in the four major
databases in medical and nursing science, with no limitations on time of publication nor language. It
also included cases from both type I and type 2 diabetes. It covered different study designs and
encompassed research in five continents. The review includes patients using pump, syringe or pen.
The major limitation was the inadequate information due to limited published articles about LH
related to diabetes. Furthermore, the quality of most papers was moderate to low. Forty percent of
material was conference abstracts and case studies, reducing the information content and overall
quality. Removing low quality studies would have caused an incomplete description of

Argument On Divine Command Theory
Divine Command Theory: (When employing the DCT in an argument, you must always cite a specific
source ie. scripture, doctrine etc. to validate your claim.) Type information here. Divine command
theory is a theory that believes that what is willed by God is morally right. Another portion of this is
that in order for a belief to be morally right a knowledge of God is required. This knowledge of God
being required can be seen as a weakness due to atheists and agnostics not being able to be morally
right. Some of the more notable philosophers that brought about various forms of divine
commandment Theory have been Saint Augustine, John Calvin, and William of ockham. A prime
example of divine command theory in modern practice is The Ten Commandments among Christians.
The Ten Commandments are from the Old Testament in the Bible and are a basic set of rules to follow.
This basic set of rules that was set forth by the divine is commonly what this theory is based on. Self
Interest (Egoism): Type information here. There are two basic kinds of egoism, there is ethical egoism
and there is psychological egoism. These two different forms of egoism are different because ethical
egoism is the normative ethical position that what is moral is to be done in self interest. This is
different from psychological egoism which states specifically that people will only act in their own
self interest. Ethical egoism is broken up into two forms. There is act egoism and Rule egoism. Act

Comparing A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Comparing A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
In the game of life man is given the options to bluff, raise, or fold. He is dealt a hand created by the
consequences of his choices or by outside forces beyond his control. It is a never ending cycle:
choices made create more choices. Using diverse, complex characters simmering with passion and
often a contradiction within themselves, Tennessee Williams examines the link of past and present
created by man s choices in A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Delicate Blanche, virile Stanley. Dynamic Maggie, impotent Brick. Williams protagonists are
distinctly different in temperament. In A Streetcar Named Desire Blanche exemplifies the
stereotypical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast, Brick is cool and nonchalant. He wears the charm of the defeated to disguise his power.
Power isn t always brute force. Sometimes refusing to make choices is powerful. Forcing other to
make decisions and thus never shouldering the responsibility is a form of dominance. Brick proudly
proclaims Maggie laid down the law to me said now or never, and so I married Maggie (Williams, Cat
37). She has to accept a non sexual marriage or she has to be the one decide to leave. In the end
Maggie, wanting to sire an heir and secure her position in the family, forces Brick to make love to her.
He doesn t fight her off, but accepts meekly. It seems as if he isn t making choice, but by surrendering
he does not have to forgive Maggie or change the terms of their lifeless marriage. Brick, hiding his
anger behind a wall of indifference, is powerless and powerful.
The characters are neither saintly nor villainous but rather a combination of both, often a contradiction
within themselves. Blanche DuBois is Williams masterpiece of contradiction. The very name Blanche
DuBois suggests her duality (Cohn 46). She tells Mitch her name means white woods. Like an orchard
in spring (Williams, Street 55) But even her translation is a fantasy. Blanche is past her spring and she
no longer possesses the virtue associated with white (Cohn 46).

Michael Jordan Leadership Paper Study of a Contemporary leader When sitting down and thinking about a leader that I wanted to write about, and eventually stand up in front of people and talk about was a lot harder of a thing to do than I originally thought. There are so many different types of leaders that people follow and are drawn to, for so many different reasons. Whether those reasons follow a certain beliefs like that of cults and religions, or if they simply follow leaders because they were just born with all of the necessary skills and attributes that helps them relate to people, everyone follows a certain type of leader because of their own personal reasons. This leads me to why I chose my leader to talk about in this paper. Michael Jordan to me is one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It wasn t until his junior year of high school that Jordan finally won a game against his older brothers. But even still, only standing at 5 11 as a sophomore Michael Jordan did not make varsity and had to play on the junior varsity team. This drove him to work even harder because he was fully confident that he could play with the older kids. Every single day after his normal basketball practice, Michael would go home and worked on his game even more, day in and day out. This drive and determination helped him get on the varsity team the next two years. He went on to average 25 points a game his junior and senior year at Laney High School in North Carolina. Michael s senior year he received the nomination to play in the McDonalds All American Team. Also during his senior season Michael was offered a full ride scholarship by North Carolinas coach Dean Smith to play for the Tar Heels. With Jordan having such a competitive edge, motivation, charisma, and drive he was able to become the most important player on their team, and a strong leader for the players around him. During his time at North Carolina, Michael Jordan led his team to victory in the NCAA Division 1 championship in 1982, when he scored a buzzer beater against Georgetown University to win. Michael Jordan was also recognized as NCAA College Player of the Year in 1983 and again in 1984. Jordan also made his way to his first appearance at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Xia case, if the WTO were to rule in favor of Brazil, which of the WTO trade agreements would contain the justification and why? Answer: Brazil banned imports of Xia goods from China because there was allegations and unconfirmed speculation pertaining to China s use of hazardous materials (for example, lead paint and potentially carcinogenic plastic and rubbers) to manufacture toys cheaply, which sparked consumer panic around the globe. The imports of Xia goods were banned until the test was performed to guarantee that these goods do not possess any health risk. The Chinese government completely refuted this claim and fearing that other country might follow the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Answer: The Chinese government would reduce or eliminate the quotas and other measures which until now have protected domestic production of soybeans from cheaper imports. China s consumption of soybeans ballooned by more than 160% between 2000 and 2011 when import barriers were removed, but the area planted with soybeans declined by 20% during those same years. Chinese farmers were simply unable to compete with imported soybeans that were RMB 300 to 600 (US$45 90) cheaper per ton than domestic beans. Imported soybeans now account for three quarters of the soybeans processed into cooking oil and feed in China, the products of soybean crushing. If China is able to prove that domestic soybean producers are not able to survive because of low cost imports from Brazil, the WTO ruling would be in favor of China and such measures would be upheld. However, if such measures were used as retaliation to Brazilian ban on Chinese toys, the WTO ruling would be in favor of Brazil and China would not be able to restrict import of Soybean from Brazil. While a great amount of women hid and did what they were told, some women fought for their rights and took a stand. For some women, this included getting a medical degree, or doing public speaking. • 7. The Treaty Of Versailles Was A War Of Slaughter On A New... The Treaty of Versailles was first and foremost the end to World War 1, the Great War. The Great War was a war of slaughter on a new scale as all countries involved had suffered massive loss of life; 1.8 million Germans, 1.7 million Russian, 1.4 million French, 1.3 million Austro Hungarians and 750 thousand British soldiers. As a result, the victors were bitter and were uninterested in Woodrow Wilson s promise of a gentle peace agreement. They wanted to receive money and territory as compensation. Even before the guns fell silent in 1918, the voices plaintive, demanding, angry, had started. China belongs to the Chinese. Kurdistan must be free. Poland must live again ... They complained: the Slovaks about the Czechs the Croats about the Serbs; the Arabs about the Jews; and the Chinese about the Japanese. Margaret Macmillan (2001) (Paris 1919: Six Months That Change the World) The French demanded the most in reparations because the war had been fought almost exclusively on French territory, and the French had sustained the heaviest loses and damages among the Allies, after Russia, who had already negotiated a separate peace treaty. Also, Germany had invaded France 50 years earlier and the French wanted to prevent another German offensive. France was determined to squeeze the maximum sum from the prostrate foe, not only to secure revenge, but to render Germany powerless in the future. • 8. Self Portrait In A Straw Hat Essay The two paintings which will be compared and contrasted are entitled Woman with a hat by Henri Matisse and Self portrait in a Straw Hat by Elisabeth Vigee Le Brun. Both of these artists have used the portraiture as a subject and have chosen painting as their art form and oils on canvas as their medium. However, each of these artist s interpretation of their artwork is very different. Matisse has concentrated on colours as he has applied a mixture of brilliant colour all across his subjects face, hat, dress and even the background, whereas Vigee Le Brun has focused on showing extreme reality in order to demonstrate her painting skills which will be explored further. Though Matisses art is a portrait of his wife while Le Brun is painting portrait of herself. In each of these portraits the artists have approached it differently and have different intentions and meanings. Matisses use of bright colours communicate his painting subjectively and the loose brush strokes made the painting look almost unfinished which was essentially the artist s move towards an expressive individual style. Matisse is communicating subjectively as he has used colours not to imitate nature but to produce a reaction in the viewer. The hat is being used to show that she is an upper class woman. In Matisse s portrait Amelia is holding a fan which is seemingly important as it s used to show mood, while in Le Brun s self portrait she is holding a paint palette. The hat is important to the painting as in fact it is the main purpose of his painting. As the painting is entitled, Woman with a Hat . Le Brun s self portrait represents how she s painting it in the first place straight up. Hence, she is trying to communicate and put things in the painting to give clues about what she s about and what she does for a living subjectively. It is also a means of representing her physical attributes, self portraiture, her place in society and her style. And therefore she is subjectively communicating herself. As she was ... The Effect of Salt Concentration on Osmosis in Potato Part A: Title: Diffusion Diffusion is the spontaneous movement of particles from where they are more concentrated to where they are less concentrated. For this experiment, a 14 cm glass was filled with cold tap water. A drop of red food coloring was dropped in the cup. A stopwatch was used to measure the time it took for the food coloring to get to the bottom of the cup. The average diffusion rate was .78 cm a second. If a different color was used, I do not think it would have made a difference in the results. The mood of the person experimenting could possibly alter the results. For example, if a person is under stress, they may accidentally squeeze too much altering the rate of diffusion. If the water was warmer, this may have sped the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You should consider each of the four solutions and explain what happened using the terms hypertonic hypotonic and isotonic. In osmosis, the flow of the water from or to a cell depends on whether the cell is immersed in a solution that is isotonic, hypotonic, or hypertonic to the solution. If the cell is isotonic to a solution, this means that the solute concentration of a cell and its environment is the same and therefore there will be no movement of water. If the solute concentration is lower than that of the cell, then water will flow into the cell, causing it to expand. If the solute concentration is lower than that of the cell then water will flow out of the cell, causing it to shrink. 2. Were your hypotheses right or wrong? Tell how those hypotheses would have to be modified in another experiment. My hypotheses were correct. 3. What mistakes (uncontrolled variables) might have affected how the results came out. Suggestion: Think of all the places in your method and materials where accuracy may not have been the best. Describe several. There could have been several variables that could have affected the results of this lab. One would have been if the salt measurements were incorrect. If more or less salt was added than realized, this would have caused the results to be incorrect. Another variable could have been the size of the potatoes being measured incorrectly. If ... Kierkegaard And Communism On first and second glance, it may appear impossible to draw any concrete connection between the philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard, a seventeenth century Danish Philosopher who worked heavily on existential themes, faith, and Christianity, and the Soviet Union. On one hand, Kierkegaard himself lived his life almost solely in Denmark, rarely leaving his own hometown, so his experience of the World outside of Denmark was extremely limited and focused on his world, especially the world of the Danish National Church. On the other hand, the Soviet Union embraced Communism, and with it its atheistic stances on social and political implications of religion and religious institutions, the Soviet ideology would appear to stand in opposition to the ... Søren Aabye Kierkegaard was born in 1813 in Copenhagen to Ane Sørensdatter Lund Kierkegaard and Michael Pedersen Kierkegaard, the latter a pastor of the Danish National Church. According to Daniel Conway, a professor of Philosophy and the Humanities at Texas A M, although influential today for his diverse contributions to the fields of philosophy, theology, rhetoric, literary theory, and depth philosophy, Kierkegaard was widely known in his own day as a provocative social critic (Conway 2015, 1). He was highly critical of the church in his hometown, and the Danish National Church in general, in addition to Christianity and what it meant for one to have faith in the almighty. Thus, much of Kierkegaard s work deals with faith and Christianity to some extent, as seen with Fear and Trembling, the work that will be most heavily sourced within this thesis. Kierkegaard s Fear and Trembling was written and published in 1843 under the pseudonym Johannes de Silentio. Kierkegaard often wrote and published his works under different pseudonyms, each often having some sort of significance to the work in which it is situated. For over ten years our forces have been increasing their effectiveness in a multitude of security and reconstruction efforts. As the level of violence along the border increases the US Customs and Border Agents are face with a new kind of enemy tactics that can be perceived as middle ground between current border operations in Afghanistan and the historical security issues along the border. When Spain s Armada came into view, there were men off of the coast of England and Wales ready to make haste to give word of where the Spanish are. In order to spread word of the arrival, the men lit beacons that sent word to other positions until it finally reached the Queen (Sharnette). Due to the help also from spies, Queen Elizabeth was able to have inside information about the idea of what will become of the Spanish idea and it helped England assemble their own ships for the future encounter ( The Defeat of the Spanish Armada: 1588 ). In Preparation for the near hopeful invasion, Queen Elizabeth I started to collect funds to help pay for the necessities needed to fuel her own improvement to ready her and her men. During this time another campaign was going on, which consumed most of the funds, but despite that the Queen made all of her efforts towards the raising money to help prepare for the anticipated encounter with Spain (Sharnette). With the English fleet becoming more whole and an actual object, they were ready to meet Spain s notorious Armada. Queen Elizabeth gave the position of commander of the fleet to Charles Howard. Howard had great success in being in charge due to delaying the launch of the Spanish Armada ( The Defeat of the Spanish Armada: 1588 ). Biopure had developed Hemopure , a blood substitute for humans, and an ancillary product Oxyglobin for the veterinary market1. Hemopure was still in the process of gaining Federal Drug Administration (FDA) approval , while Oxyglobin had already been approved and was ready to be launched1. When considering the marketing mix we must look at the various products in the portfolio of Biopure. There is a dilemma because one of Biopure s products is approved and the other is not. The impact of deciding to launch Oxyglobin initially and having to wait to release Hemopure has an impact on the overall financial situation of the company as well as its competitive position within the market. The other challenge that Biopure had is to decide how to price Oxyglobin should they release it to the market. If Biopure adopts competition based pricing111 as suggested by some of the sales team, the price sensitive nature of the veterinary market means that a price of $80 $100 per unit is considered to be optimal4. Despite this, research shows that Biopure can adopt a customer based approach, or value based pricing111. The Pros and Cons of Participant Observation Essay The Advantages and Disadvantages of Participant Observation as a Research Method This essay will examine how participant observation is used as a research method. In the main body of this essay, this idea will be addressed by pointing out advantages and disadvantages of participant observation. I will give examples to support my argument. Participant observation is the main research method favoured by interpetitivists. It involves the researcher participating in a social group to observe and experience the world as a participant while still observing the group for future analasys of their behaviour from the researchers point of view. Participants face the problem of objectivity, it is often very time consuming, for example, Beverly Skeggs (1997), spent 12 years researching the lives of women on a caring course in England. Participants also face dangers and can also find themselves in situations they find morally unacceptable or illegal. Quantitative researchers samples are too small and while the researcher may get the bulk of his/her information from structured questions, they are not getting peoples true opinions. The conclusions can only apply to the specific group which the researcher has studied and cannot be generalised or replicated. The observer himself decides what information to select or omit and the fact that the observer is present in overt observations, it is believed that the group will not act naturally. This therefore questions the validity of the data collected. There are also many advantages to participant observation compared with other research methods. By preparing a questionaire, the researcher has already decided what questions he wants to ask and what information is important to the study. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is in order to create more funding for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programs, also known as STEM. Although STEM programs in public education are important, schools should include more music education because, it increases brain activity, increases creativity in problem solving, and improves test scores. Increases in brain activity Build more brain matter. Music education can actually increase brain activity and growth. One of the major things that studying music in school can do for the brain is to increase the white and gray matter in the brain. In an article by Christopher Bergland outlining ten ways music education increases brain activity. He said this about a case studied from the Journal of Neuroscience(2015) The researchers found that people who began musical training early in life had stronger connections between motor regions. The 1920s were a decade of rebirth characterised by the founding of the quot;American Dream quot; the belief that anyone can, and should, achieve material success. The defining writer of the 1920s was F. Scott Fitzgerald whose most famous novel, The Great Gatsby, has become required reading for present day high school students. We study Fitzgerald s novel for the same reason we study Shakespeare. The literature composed by both authors contains themes and morals that continue to be relevant to modern society. As a result, this novel could have easily been written in modern times. Essay about Carol Ann Duffy s Mean Time Carol Ann Duffy s Mean Time Carol Ann Duffy s poem Mean Time is about loss of love and the different ways in which time brings about change or loss of life itself. The poem is very personal and autobiographical to Duffy s life as are most of her poems. Mean Time is based on mourning your lost love and how regrets seem meaningless when one day you get up and realise its not just time which has passed you by, but time has stolen your life too, and in the end it will only be the mourning that you regret. The idea of time and how it is finite is one of the main themes in the poem. The title Mean Time could be emphasising a few points one of which is how time can be mean when one needs a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stanza is ended by stating that it s our mistakes she is recognising that her partner is not all to blame and they need to share mistakes, this shows the first sign of putting her life back together. The poem moves on and tells us how she wants just one hour to be lifted so she would never have said the words she did. This sets the tone for the whole poem; regret and longing. It makes the reader feel that she has wasted enough time of her life on this one man, its time to move on. However one moment she is regretting spending too much time mourning her lost love, now she is stepping over old territory again, which makes the poem a bit cliché, so the sympathy for the woman is now lost. One of the last important themes of Mean Time is conveyed in the final stanza, this is how time is finite we will be dead because death is rapidly approaching everyone, which highlights the fact that mourning is pointless. This is where the reader can relate to Duffy because they can share their mistakes too because the events in the poem can happen to all most anybody. I believe that Duffy s conclusion is do not let your heart take control of your life, you need to no when to move on. The language throughout is very calm and well organised which helps ... As in other cultures, this required a magician , or a priest. The priest would heat an ox scapula or a tortoise shell until it cracks, and would then attempt to read the cracks in order to answer a question. This reading often involved the priest carving the answers into the bone under the guise of creating clarity (Lyons, 18). However fraudulent their practices were, these priests had a huge influence on Chinese writing. The questions the priest s client had would be written from top to bottom on the bone, and this is still the traditional direction of Chinese script. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One con of using silk was its expense. Throughout the early world and the Middle Ages, silk was a very time consuming product to produce. As a result, it could be sold for a higher cost, and the method of producing it was, like the secret of producing papyrus, jealously guarded by the silk growers. Another consequence of silk s value was that when scribes wanted to write important texts, they would often need to write a rough draft on a jiandu strip before copying the perfected version onto the silk. In about 104 A.D., a eunuch of the Chinese imperial court, named Cai Lun, changed the course of writing s history by making the first sheet of paper (The Invention of Paper). To do this, he mixed bamboo fibers and the inner bark of a mulberry tree with water, and then dried the pulp on a cloth screen. With paper, writing became easier, more transportable, and, in general, less expensive. Eventually, the technique for making paper spread to Korea, and from there some monks took the process to Japan. Paper spread to Africa and Europe through the Arabs, who went on raids in China and captured many Chinese soldiers and craftsmen. Before this happened, however, the Greeks and Romans had to be crafty in finding new writing resources. The Romans, though they couldn t make their own paper yet, had animal skins. As the letters of Cicero and Pliny expressively demonstrate, the aim of every wealthy noble was to have several villas, or country residences, preferably with immaculate views. This acceptance of more opulent style of life has been regarded as an acculturation effect resulting from Rome s expanded rule into the western and eastern Mediterranean, and their direct contact with the Hellenistic world. Bodies talk first in throughout Richard II primarily because indulgence, in the garden of England as in the Garden of Eden, is quickly branded the most significant threat to the stability of Richard s monarchy (Hoffmann, 2009). John of Gaunt may be the only character to understand that appetite is as much a matter of power as it is of desire, taste or need , and that to control appetite is to control power, but Richard himself perceives and worries over the same relationship (Hoffmann, 2009). Just as Genesis s garden of Eden, the cultural narrative of Richard s England demands that those judged guilty of overindulgence be banished, along with their intemperate appetites (Hoffmann, 2009). Richard II assumes, often to his own detriment, that his position at the top of the political food chain, while it may not render him immune from threats, still gives him prerogative to banish those threats before they materialize (Hoffmann, 2009). Furthermore, he executes these punishments without ever defining exactly what it is he is punishing (Hoffman, 2009). The story or invention myth behind the bulb varies drastically from the general public s belief. The belief is that a lone inventor, Thomas Edison, sat down in his workshop and simply created the incandescent light bulb out of thin air. Edison in no way created the incandescent light bulb out of thin air. He used the knowledge of previous researchers and inventors to make a the first commercialized light bulb and gained world wide recognition as a result. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the first know traces of light can be tracked to Great Britain in 1803. Humphry Davy created the first ever man made light seen in the World. He demonstrated the ability to flow electric current through two pieces of carbon powered by a battery source creating a bright and powerful arc. Some researchers give Mr. Davy credit as the inventor of light (DOE). Things took a drastic change in 1835. James Bowman Lindsay was able to keep a constant electric current flowing. He used parts of Davy s old design and simply improved it. His ability to keep current flowing revolutionized the technology and created the first ever incandescent light bulb (Live Science). Multiple Choice, Binary Choice And Matching Questions Essay Multiple Choice, Binary Choice, and Matching Questions My greatest strength in writing multiple choice, binary choice, and matching questions is creating scenarios for the multiple choice. I enjoyed writing these scenarios by making up stories that are related to the content. I was also good at keeping track of what we have and what we needed to do. Another strength I had was in creating binary choice question because there is only one right answer. My greatest weakness was coming up with good alternate choices for the multiple choice. I had a hard time with this because the ones that I came up with were either too obvious, not homogeneous, or too similar. Another weakness I had was creating matching because I found it hard to make them all homogeneous. They were also hard to make because we had to come up with different responses that were similar in order for the premises not to stand out. My contribution to the multiple choice, binary choice, and matching questions was that I created many of multiple choice questions this was because I enjoyed writing the scenarios. I also wrote some of the binary questions. I also contributed to the group by helping and collaborating on the matching. I also help by keeping track of what we had in terms of number of different types of questions and the number of learning objectives. I would rate myself a ten out of a ten on my contribution to the multiple choice, binary, matching questions because I did my share of crating the number ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Discussion of the Importance of Multilingualism Among Yout... Language is a system of representation that enables us to encode and convey meaning through the production and combination of signs. (Neves, 2011) Multilingualism can, therefore, be described as a person s capability to maintain and practice two or more languages in an environment. This concept is quite commonly seen throughout South Africa as there is a total of eleven official languages. These languages are critical in today s youth as they are exposed to a culturally diverse society which enables them to broaden their thinking in every day life. However, if children attend parallel medium schooling, they are likely never to learn and use one language. They will be able to speak and write in both languages which is a positive aspect but they may never have the full vocabulary or grammar rules as they are too busy learning both languages instead of concentrating fully on one. The positive aspects of multilingualism outweighs the negatives as being bilingual broadens one s opportunities in schooling, especially in tertiary education, as well as one day when they are in search of jobs. A person is that much more employable and more likely to be successful if they are able to participate and communicate effectively in a growing and changing work environment. Multilingualism can be seen as a vitally important factor amongst young South Africans as there is a constant change occurring in the schooling and work environments. • 38. Sephor A Retail Chain Of Perfume And Cosmetics Stores Essay 1. About Sephora Sephora is a retail chain of perfume and cosmetics stores founded in 1969 by Dominique Mandonnaud. It first started as a small perfumery in Limoges, France, called Shop 8 and was revolutionary at that time due to its concept of assisted self service . The store had an open sell setting where customers could try the products before they bought them and where the organisation of the products was by type, not by brand as in every other store. In 1993, Mandonnaud bought 38 retail cosmetics stores from the UK s Boots PLC chain and merged them with the 12 Shop 8 stores that the company already had at that time. The stores were then rebranded to what is known today as Sephora. Although Sephora s initial strategy was to expand within France and its surroundings such as Monaco and Luxembourg, after the company was acquired by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) in 1997, it started pursuing a global international strategy. With every store around the world, Sephora maintains similar products, overall atmosphere and services and every strategic decision is made by the higher management at the headquarters. Its first international store was opened in 1998 in New York City and the company began to expand in the European market, starting with Italy. However, not every country was hospitable to Sephora s expansion such as the United Kingdom, Spain and Japan, where the company struggled. • 43. Analysis Of Through The Tunnel By Doris Lessing He was at the end of what he could do... he feebly clutched at the rocks in the dark, pulling himself forward, leaving the brief space of sunlit water behind. He felt he was dying. He was no longer conscious (Lessing 5). Through the Tunnel, written by Doris Lessing, follows the summer of a young eleven year old English boy named Jerry. For many years, Jerry and his mother visited this beach, getting to know many of the other families there. One year, however, Jerry had begun to lose interest in the beach; he wanted to explore the nearby rugged and wild bay, where the older boys played. He was no longer interested in the children his age on the beach; he wanted to be more mature like the older boys on the wild bay, where they played more reckless games. The older boys dived into the water and through an underwater tunnel to reach the shore, requiring much skill and perseverance that Jerry did not have. Jerry, not being able to accomplish the feat, made a fool of himself and acted like a child in front of the boys, making them go away; this fueled Jerry s passion to accomplish going through the tunnel before his vacation was over. The setting of Through the Tunnel is influential in representing Jerry s transition from a child to a young man with the beach representing his childhood, the wild bay representing his adolescence, and the tunnel representing him becoming a mature young man. Type information here. Divine command theory is a theory that believes that what is willed by God is morally right. Another portion of this is that in order for a belief to be morally right a knowledge of God is required. This knowledge of God being required can be seen as a weakness due to atheists and agnostics not being able to be morally right. Some of the more notable philosophers that brought about various forms of divine commandment Theory have been Saint Augustine, John Calvin, and William of ockham.
