narrative voice contains tales of three characters within one narrative, none belonging directly to the

allowed the year round volunteers to continue serving if they wanted, but also have the ability to
take a vacation and enjoy the church s service. Although life offers a multitude of life changing
experiences, serving at Mecklenburg Community Church for the first time was greatest
experience because I gained connections in my community, learned strong leadership skills and
gained a desire to serve others first. It all began when I attended my first scamp session and I
had several opportunities for jobs outside of the church over the summer and translating into the
school year. The first time I served at Meck I was able to meet and be introduced to three
families at the church who later reached out to me for weekly opportunities to work with their
kids. In seeing the kids both in and outside of church over the summer scamps I gained more
insight of their lives and personalities. One specific family that I met the first time I volunteered
was the Harris family. I made a close bond with their youngest daughter
