The Species Of Endangered Species
Did you know that the endangerment or eventual extinction of a species causes the endangerment and
extinction of other life forms, eventually leading to a negative impact on human well being? Currently,
the endangered species list includes 16,306 species that are endangered and at risk of extinction, and
785 species have already gone extinct (Kasnoff). On the list of endangered species is the adorable sea
otter. Sea otters are not only cute, but they play an extremely important role in the ecological
preservation of Pacific kelp forests.
Sea otters contribute towards the overall health and well being of the ecosystem they inhabit. Because
the sea otter is an important predator in the nearshore marine ecosystem of the North Pacific Ocean, ...

Also, the inhalation of the oil by the sea otter results in illness and a weakened immune system
(Recarte 10). The population decline of the sea otter serves as evidence of the poor state of the eco
system in which they live. In her detailing of The California Recovery Plan, Recart emphasizes the sea
otter s important role as a keystone and sentinel (bioindicator) species in their ecosystem, and goes on
to state that they are the keepers of the kelp forest (10).
Along with its keystone and sentinel role in its eco system, sea otters have important interactions with
abiotic and biotic factors. Sea otters have an effect on the abiotic factors of their ecosystem, which
include the ocean waves and currents as well as the levels of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the air.
They affect those abiotic factors through the controlling of sea urchin populations who, without the
sea otter, would decimate the kelp forests that in turn serve as a barrier to ocean currents and waves,
providing protection for other marine animals from those elements (Laustsen). The sea otters
consumption of urchins also ensures that kelp forest growth prevents soil erosion and that its
photosynthesis reduces the amount of carbon dioxide and increases the amount of oxygen in the
atmosphere (Nielsen). Without the sea otters protective role of the kelp forest, abiotic factors would go
out of balance affecting and harming the biotic factors of this ecosystem.

Mozart Effect On Germination
Plants are complex multicellular organisms which can be consider as sensitive as humans for initial
assaying of effects and testing new therapies (Benford, 2002). Vibration of sound can stimulate a seed
/ plant (Braam and Davis, 1990) . Seeds are sometimes treated with ultrasound to help start the
germination of seed process (Shors, 1999).
From the studies by Bache and Macaskill (1984), foliage planted along the freeways to reduce noise
pollution often grows differently compare to foliage planted in a quiet environment. Research by
Weinberger (1973) shows that sound in the audible frequency range contribute significant effects on
seed germination.

involved treating water. Their experiment showed that pea seeds watered with water that had been
meditated on to enhance their germination sprouted almost 20% faster than the controls while wheat
seeds that were watered with water that had been meditated on to inhibit their germination sprouted
approximately 8% slower than the controls.
However, does different type of sound effects the germination rate of seeds differently? Therefore the
purpose of this study is to measure biologic effects of music, noise, and healing sound using seed
germination bioassays as an objective biomarker. The effects of difference sound can also be compare.
My hypothesis is music, healing sound and noise contribute significant effect in which fasten the

We Need Electronic Surveillance Essay
Our society would not survive in the 21st century without the help of electronic surveillance. Safety is
one of the main purposes of electronic surveillance. Safety is the state of being secure and free from
danger of any sort. Today, many would rather give up their privacy for safety (Smithsimon). In fact,
surveillance gadgets such as cameras, radio tracking chips and house alarms are used in many places
to ensure safety. For instance, a parent can easily place a hidden camera in a stuffed animal in order to
see how the babysitter handles his or her child (Public Places Have Eyes). Cameras are also used to
ensure safety on school premises. According to the GCC College Safety website, the college has an
extensive system of surveillance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some say that the key to success on preventing terrorism, or any crime for that matter, is the use of
massive surveillance enforcement (Someone s Watching). For instance, airlines have used the
Computer Assisted Pre Screening System (CAPS) to spot any dangerous passengers that have checked
into the airline. Additionally, metal detectors are heavily used in airlines to check for any weapons that
a terrorist might use. Video cameras that capture faces and license plates found all throughout the
airport are now equipped with a software that allows images to be recognized and matched with
several databases (Public Places Have Eyes). Cameras in general are present in every corner of the
airport to monitor all irregular activities. Some also believe that having a floating eye in the sky could
prove to be a major deterrent in the war on terror when talking about aerial surveillance (Surveillance
Tech). Moreover, these surveillance tools are not only used in airlines to prevent crime. These
surveillance gadgets can also be used to prevent other crimes such as robberies, trespassing, assaults,
and shopliftings everywhere. In fact, with the help of aerial cameras, the Tampa Florida Police
Aviation Unit was able to perform 500 arrests in the year of 2003 (Surveillance Tech). As for metal
detectors, they are found at the entrances of almost every store we go to as well as school premises

Chivalry In Medieval Times
Medieval Times began in 1066 with Norman Conquest and the Battle of Hastings, and ended in 1485
with the War of Roses. During this time period a new literary style was developed called Medieval
Romance. This genre includes chivalry, a theme of good versus evil and settings like castles with
knights, kings and queens. This was formed through new social, political, and cultural changes
following the Anglo Saxon period.
The Medieval Romance genre uses the theme of good versus evil and an includes important element
of chivalry. The influence of chivalry was reflected at the start of the romance genre, many stories
used dragons, wizards and magic. The theme soon evolved to revolve around courtly love, quests and

Quotes In Things Fall Apart

Stripped Roots Until the lions have their own historian, the history of the hunt will always glorify the
hunter. This quote can be applied to many different situations throughout history, but in the context of
the novel, Things Fall Apart, the quote refers to renowned Nigerian author, Chinua Achebe, recounting
the story of the Ibo people and their oppression. Achebe assumes the role of the lions historian by
exhibiting the richness of the Ibo culture and showing its destruction by the colonialism of the late
nineteenth century.
The people of Umuofia have a complex and unique system of religion and government. While most
other civilizations in the world have an easily distinguishable line between religion and government,
the religion and government of the Ibo are intertwined. The Ibo people worship a deity known as
Agbala, the goddess of the earth; however, Agbala can only be heard through Chielo, the voice of the
Oracle. The people of Umuofia are led by a chief council called the egwugwu who rely on advice
from Agbala to govern the village. Agbala s authority over the village of Umuofia is clearly seen in
her order to have Ikemefuna executed. Yes, Umuofia has decided to kill him [Ikemefuna]. The Oracle

Persuasive Essay On College Sports
Throughout the years, kids have played a variety of video games. These games could range anywhere
from warfare games such as Call of Duty Black Ops, fantasy games such as Final Fantasy or sports
games such as Madden 16 or NCAA Football 11. Games that we played more consistently than others
were the team sports games such as NCAA football. The NCAA football games not only brought
friends together but would also persuade our minds to play football when we were of age. However,
EA has not produced a NCAA football game since 2012. Thus leaving the people like us who enjoyed
the game, let down. The discontinuation of the NCAA college football series is a result of many
things, specifically greed. Unfortunately, with the greediness of the athletes, EA will never be able to
make another NCAA college football game. When we were younger, many of us dreamed to grow up
and play football for our favorite college team. Therefore, when we played the NCAA football games,
we were able to create a prediction of what we may look like if playing for our favorite college team.
Many of us predicted that we would be six foot two, two hundred and twenty pound athletes who were
usually the stars of the team. As a result of this false hope, many of us worked as hard as we could to
make that goal obtainable. However, EA has not released any college football games and this has
resulted in kids playing other games such as FIFA. In an article it was stated, He wondered how many

The Siege Mentality Of The Bourgeoisie
Thomas G. Pelham III IB World Literature Dr. Smith 20 May 2015 The Siege Mentality of the
Bourgeoisie in Ibsen s A Doll House By the time of Ibsen s A Doll House (1879) the bourgeoisie was
firmly established as the dominant class in Europe. To legitimize their power capitalists defined
themselves against other classes, claiming they possessed inherent qualities justifying their position. A
rigid moral system and social code reinforced class stratification. These structures also enforced
conformity within, thus pressuring even the powerful to maintaining the appearance of conformity.
The home was the fortress of the bourgeoisie. It was the location where social identity gained its
greatest expression, but this controlled space that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This statement does two things. First, it connects the well being of the children with the need to
prevent moral corruption. Second, it reinforces Nora s role within the strict limits of child rearing. The
attempt to gain distance from her children is both an attempt to transcend the limiting role defined by
propriety and an expression of her fear of her corrupting them. This links the fear of Krogstad s moral
corruption with the fear of Nora s forgery and its transgression against social norms. This reifies the
fear of poor parenting as Nora ultimately separates herself from the family in order to protect her
children. However, the home also functioned as an indicator of class. Therefore there was extreme
pressure to prevent penetration of the home by the outside world, and to preserve the ideal of domestic
tranquility. Nora summarizes this, prior to the party, when she is talking about Krogstad s letter: You
mustn t read such things now; there mustn t be anything ugly between us (92). The wife is the symbol
of domesticity. The home is moth a social limit and a space of feminine control. As a result anything
ugly between us is analogous to ugliness between Torvald and his house. The domestic space may be
controlled by the female, but it serves the husband. Torvald s ideal home is invaded by ugliness .
Krogstad s letter is still in the mailbox and the loan still exists. What Torvald imagines is secure, is
actually a tenuous set of power relations that

I will compare the many beliefs on how things were to be governed and who made those decisions for
the good of the colony and their economic status.
Religion:
There were four original colonies of New England: New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and

majority rule government. This led to town meetings and elections. These activities would later
establish American democracy. William Bradford became the governor elect for the next thirty years
that proved fruitful. Under Bradford the relationship with the natives grew as well as the food supply.
Later, self governing colonies became more desirable. The church would later control the laws of the
colonies. This became known as a Theocracy. The southern colonies were still under English rule and
laws. The south had its House of Delegates that passed laws to protect certain interest groups and their
religious freedoms. The Delegates were elected into their offices and later became more Protestant

and Virginia, they operated in a Headlight System to which each colony leader oversaw the economic
survival. This later changed to the landowners becoming the governing body known as an Oligarchy.
The richest landowners controlled laws. The church ultimately took a back seat to wealth and political

ABSTRACT: Domestic violence essentially affects everyone. It is not merely a personal or private

had been victimized over and over again by the same person. These selected statistics easily

Introduction
Domestic violence in the United States is a serious and grave social concern. Alarmingly, the rate at
which this very intimate violence occurs is increasing. The recent events concerning the criminal trial
of former football star O.J. Simpson have shed light upon domestic violence as a national and social
ill. The fate Nicole Brown Simpson endured is identical to that of thousands of women who are caught
within the vicious cycle of abuse and pay the ultimate price of death as a result.
Domestic violence essentially affects everyone. It is not merely a personal or private problem within
families. With this idea in mind, just how horrifying are the facts about domestic violence? According
to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (US Department of Justice), a woman is beaten every 15 seconds
somewhere in the United States. The FBI reports that domestic violence is the leading cause of injury
to women between 15 and 44 in the United States more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes
combined. Furthermore, the US Surgeon General recounts that battered women are more likely to
suffer miscarriages and to give birth to babies with low birth weights. The Surgeon General s report
also reveals that one in five women victimized by their

The topic I will be discussing in this draft is the debate on whether the National Football League
should be held liable for injuries that their employee s sustained while playing professional football.
The injuries that I will discuss are concussion and traumatic brain injuries related to multiple
concussions. In years past this injury wasn t know n to be as prevalent because that game was played
at a much slower speed. Players in todays game are bigger, faster and stronger than ever. It has been
documented that the players themselves willingly know the risk they are taking yet still take the
chance at playing the game. Players and player group representatives are now seeking compensation
for their player and player s families. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The HMO would be more likely cover such an injury like a concussion or concussion related
symptoms, but the NFL is less likely to do so. The NFL can debate that players make a conscious
decision to participate in a sport where this risk is involved.. The players that are granted coverage
will have top cover form outside parties involved and they can take a look at the historical legislative
involvement in overseeing or regulating professional football.
After the NFL commissioner came under scrutiny from Washington lawmakers on whether or not the
injuries in his sport were the cause of traumatic brain disease. The commissioner enacted a policy that
players had to pass a series of test by a neurologist prior to them being allowed to return to play(
Grove, J) This policy change is similar to a normal employee passing a physical from their primary
Doctor before they could return to work. The Commissioner enacted this policy to prevent players
from returning to the game to soon. The current NFL commissioner Roger Goodell wasn t the first

was enacted. This rule prohibited a player from grabbing another player s facemask (Grove, J 657). In
the late 1970 s an additional rule was enacted. The NFL finally passed a rule prohibiting players from

Halo The Fall Of Reach Summary
My favorite book is Halo: The Fall Of Reach written by Eric Nylund. The book was published
October 30,2001. The book is based off of my favorite, and one of the most profitable games in the
video game market called Halo. In the Story, Halo The Fall of Reach, it begins with the Glassing of a
Planet. Glassing in halo means the destruction, or Ending, of a planet. The plot is the main character
called Master Chief, also know as Petty Officer Sierra 117, trying to save the planet called Reach. The
planet is under attack by the Covenant, which is a group of alien species that created an empire. The
glassing of the planet is the start of the Spartan 2 super soldier program. This program was in response
to trying to stop invasions from the aliens. The story includes many battles and losses for both sides.

March 8th Research Paper
March 8th is International Women s Day, defined by YES! Magazine as: a day started on March 8,
1857, in New York City by Garment workers who staged a protest against inhumane working
conditions and low wages. Despite being attacked and dissolved by police officers, the movement
continued. By 1908 the movement had grown to 15,000 women in the New York City march alone. It
also expanded to include child labor, shorter working hours, and voting rights. The slogan for this rally
became Bread and Roses with bread symbolizing economic security and roses for better living
standards. May 1908, the Socialist party named the first International Working Women s Day on the

order to focus on the conflict between obedience to authority and to personal conscience. The

professional. The roles of this experiment included a learner, teacher, and researcher. The participant
was deemed the teacher and was in the same room as the researcher. The learner, who was also a paid

participant. Participants showed signs of stress and possible psychological damage due to the process
of harming another individual, but that did not stop the experiment. Milgram instructed the
participants to continue the study until the very end. In order to make this experiment more ethical,
Milgram should have set up the experiment in a way that did not give the illusion of causing harm to
another human being. Also, participants should have been able to withdraw from the experiment
without questioning. Lastly, Milgram should have known to stop the study once he saw the participant
showing signs of distress and pain. This is to cause less harm to the participant and promote

Intoredance And Intolerance In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
The definition of the word martyr as defined by Merriam Webster is a person who voluntarily suffers
death as the penalty of witnessing to and refusing to renounce a religion. When many people think of a
martyr their first instinct in their mind is not to think of witchcraft and the town of Salem. The play
written by Arthur Miller titled The Crucible is based on real events that correlate with this definition.
The Crucible depicts the 1692 Salem Witch Trials that transformed the town of Salem into hysteria.
The start of the trials began way before Abigail Williams accused one of the townspeople of
witchcraft, but when many girls were caught dancing and singing in the woods. The trials continued
for less than a year but over 200 people were accused. With the breakout of hysteria and intolerance
the town everyone seemed to turn on eachother. Giles Corey embodied the theme of the play The
Crucible by being intolerant and going against the others, eventually costing him his life.
To begin, the theme of The Crucible is intolerance. To understand this theme you have to know what
Intolerance is. Unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behaviors that differ from one s own is
intolerance. The reason supporting why Giles Corey embodies intolerance is because in the play, Giles
was a dynamic character. This means that he went through a change throughout the play both
physically and emotionally. The change that we see Giles go through is when he becomes intolerant
and goes away from what majority of the others within Salem are believing, witchcraft. The argument
of the proof that Giles showed his neighbor,Ann Putnam, about the accusation of witchcraft was
another example of how he portrayed the theme throughout the play. Another lasting impact that Giles
has on the theme of the play is that was intolerant to a large group of Salem townspeople whose main
motive for witch accusations was for the dispute over land and wealth within the community. The
accusation of Giles and his wife Martha is directly because of that dispute. Not only did the
intolerance of the many people within the town caused Giles to change, but unfortunately cost him his
wife s and his own life.
A secondary thought to tie in with Giles and

This paper aims to document and analyse the different approaches in overall infrastructure sector

Employment generation through construction of rural roads, and ground water and minor irrigation to
support food security received much higher priority compared to need to enhance logistics to support
industrial growth and improving overall economic efficiency.
In five year plans a major goal was to connect all villages (with population of more than 1,500
inhabitants) with rural road network; however, this was done through minimum needs program
supporting employment creation and leading to waste and inefficiency. Most of the roads thus created
did not meet quality standards because fiscal space was not adequate to accommodate both the
demand for resources for rural roads and also the national highway network which was getting
congested. Even in the case of power sector, village electrification was a priority so as to provide
power for the farms, but not necessarily to households. Emphasis on connectivity, without
improvements in overall economic efficiency meant unsustainable financial burden on the government
budgets. In the time of slower economic growth or external shocks such as wars and high oil prices,
infrastructure investments were major casualty. China with its high economic growth rates and higher
savings rates was able to allocate much larger resources for investments in general. In the 1980, China
saved 35% of GDP whereas India s savings rate was less than half at 15.5%. This combined, with

The Importance of Leonardo s notebook
His insights in science might give now a day doctors and studiers of the human body a strong base to
create their own knowledge. Some of the drawings include a fetus in the womb, circulation of blood in
the body and a dissection of a man.
Other drawings of nature were a bird in flight and the Vitruvian man which both described anatomy

Da Vinci lived from 1452 1519, his notebooks spanning most of his later life. As an artist, engineer
and natural philosopher Da Vinci wrote in his notebooks daily, finishing with around 13000 pages of
work! (Mansen) An apprentice of Andrea del Verrocchio, Da Vinci grew into an extremely skilled
artist, and created multiple sculptures and paintings. He also developed an understanding of anatomy
through human dissections.

Only when this social bond is weakened is crime likely to occur. He contended that this social bond
has four elements; Attachment, commitment, involvement and beliefs (Fuller 2006). In the attachment,
when children respect their parents, appreciate all that they do for them, they are less likely to be
involved in criminal activity. However, when they do not have the proper guidance, lack of concern
for their outside activities, they tend to stray, and seek out those who show concern for them. Often it
becomes a role model, a close friend, someone to which they seek approval from. This becomes their
attachment bond. In gangs, this often leads to the higher authority, a person to which they look up too,
to whom they want to become. The level of commitment involves how far one will go to prove
themselves. One is committed to a gang, to which they consider all members family. People who have
money, property, and good reputations are committed to the social system that allowed them the
opportunities for that success (Fuller 2006). In a gang, being a member of a respected gang, means
that they too will have respect by those outside of the gang, and will often be in fear of your presence.
As in the MS 13, individuals who are quite familiar with this particular gang know that it is a matter of
survival of their own existence to cross a gang member; therefore, the ordinary citizen will be wise to

Speed limit signs are on nearly every street throughout the United States. Some range from thirty
miles per hour to seventy based on the location. Being a new driver, this may appear like a difficult
responsibility to follow the speed limit. Along the side of the road, the signs stand tall with black and
white color ways with a very bold font. Simply adjust the speed of the vehicle based on the speed limit
in the designated location. Sometimes, due to hazards and weather, vehicles may be required to
continue at a lower speed than posted. Vehicle operators must follow specific laws within individual
states for speed if there isn t a designated speed limit sign posted. Following the speed limit is a must,
and as a new driver this should be deemed as a very important task while driving.
In conclusion, driving a vehicle is a tremendous responsibility and can cause serious harm if used
improperly. Hazards on and off the road develops through all times of the day, and drivers should
always be ready to face danger. Drivers must rely on each other to follow the rules and regulations of
the road to have a safe trip to their destination. As a new driver, always follow every rule presented

Triton s Role In The Novel Reef By Romesh Gunesekera
Introduction
Romesh Gunesekera; the author of the novel Reef (1994), begins the story with a young boy by the
name of Triton, entering Mr Salgado s household as a Kolla , meaning boy, and starting to become
weary of himself and his own capabilities. Throughout the novel, Triton faces certain hardships, but
quickly learns to overcome them as he begins to develop a sense of responsibility and independence
within the household. Mr Salgado becomes the centre of Triton s world and he is someone that Triton
looks up to and wants to become. However, everything changes when Miss Nili becomes the central
aspect of Mr Salgado s life and changes the relationships within the household, allowing Triton to see
things from a new perspective. Throughout the novel we see how Triton plays the role of an Outsider
as well as Insider within the home and how he starts becoming very observant with regards to Miss
Nili. In this essay I will discuss how Triton s role in Mister Salgado s household alters and becomes a
turning point in the novel.

Salgado. Therefore he would rather be a servant in Mr Salgado s household all over again than be an
empowered restaurant owner without Mr Salgado in his

After reading the short story, Because My Father Always Said He Was the Only Indian Who Saw Jimi

elements such as ideas, organization, voice, word choice, fluidity in sentences and last but not least,

noticeable things is the revealing of the plot. Just by looking at the title you have an idea that the short

Alexie draws in the reader by first telling a short story about her father back in the 1970 s. Alexie then
goes on in briefly telling the reader what prison was like for their father. Eventually moving on to how
the father met the mother and the relationship they father and mother had. This is an interesting take
on the way a child views their father and mother and how the father has craved freedom. The fluidity
of this short piece is excellent, it is not choppy and it gives just enough detail without dragging the
story out. It also helps that this piece is an easy read. One of the things that I enjoyed from the piece
was the comparison to how Indians would live compared to different races mentioned in the piece. I
though it gave the Victor the narrator some personality. Victor also does a lovely job on creating the
images of what his parents and their relationship, as well as his love for his father. The analogy of Jimi

Deployment and the Military Family
Deployment and the Military Family

Deployments are a difficult time for military families. Deployment of a loved one affects the whole
family. The service member may worry about how his family may fare without him or even miss
milestones in his children s lives. The spouse has to function as a single parent and take on
responsibilities left behind by the service member. The children may suffer from behavioral problems
and not adjust well to having a parent deployed.
Few studies have been done to examine the affects of deployment on military families. There are

Speaking from the perspective of a military spouse, my opinion is this; we are proud of our service to
the United States as a family. The sacrifices that have been made are worth keeping our children and
fellow citizens safe. We are a living and working part of the organism called society.
The military family may very well fit into the conflict perspective. The military family is constantly
battling to protect the power of the nation from other nations. Families are a constant state of conflict
with each other. The service member deploys. The children begin to experience behavioral problems.
The spouse takes on extra roles acts as single parents.
With military families in a constant state of conflict there are now research groups doing studies to
find out what the effects of deployment are on the whole family. As these groups release their findings
we can offer families resources to help combat the conflicts of deployment. Some resources now being
offered to improve quality of life are parenting classes adapted to military life style, child care, and
mental health resources. Operation Purple Camp is one example of the studies that is helping military
families. The program gave children to meet other children like them. It also surveyed the families on
several different occasions to gather data

Negative Effects Of Factory Farming
A farm in Idaho or a factory in Idaho, many people today do not know where their food comes from.
They are hurried by life in time restrictions and shop to get it over with. People shop by price more
today for many reasons. Economic finances have changes, and everything costs more, so many are
choosing to take the food that costs the least not seeing the true negative things happening regarding
their low prices. Big Business focuses on quantity not quality and making money which directly leads
to the customers demand. Customers are buying lower quantity because it is what is economical
causing big business costs to go higher for production. Is Factory Farming a negative or positive for
our society?
Companies are trying to meet the food consumption demands with using a modern agricultural
technique of factory farming (Coller, 4 7). Factory farms house large number of animals to be raised
for food in a confined space of farms to minimize operation cost, and the mass production drives
down the food prices as they could produce excess number of animals to meet the demand (Coller, 4
7). However, except for offering human abundant amount of cheaper food, factory farming is an
unhealthy agricultural practice to both human and the environment (Coller,4 7). Factory farming
contributed to serious pollution problems, the animal treatments are inhumane, and it has smothered
the business opportunity of traditional farms and its workers by occupying their markets (Coller, 4 7).

Reinforcing the Luxury Brand Experience in An Omni Channel Setting with Strategic Online Visual

Introduction
Over the past decade, the consumer has taken the lead in online brand perceptions and
conceptualizations. Multi channel business practices are becoming more adaptive with its fast growing
and evolving consumer market. It is essential that retailers in the 21st century acknowledge the
success of multi channel businesses. The function of multiple channel retail, also commonly known as

Luxury retail is built on foundations of creativity, innovation, exclusivity, and craftsmanship. High
end, luxury stores invest heavily in the creativity in their products as well as their retail merchandising
in their elegantly embellished stores to match its brand image. Exquisite showrooms with private
booking is just one way to accommodate a serious buyer. Thus, it is logically paradoxical that the
innate characteristics of luxury becomes open to the public with the internet. Furthermore, the
difficulties in mirroring the physical experience into an online experience lies in the existing gap of
strategies between the online versus the offline business applications. Our mobile phones, tablets, and
computers may provide the composite mirage and manifestation of real world information, however,
can websites transcribe the elegance of retail experience from the physical store online? Bridging a

Symbols In The Bloody Chamber
The presentation of gifts is an important aspect of modern day relationships, with the entire fourteenth
of February dedicated to the exchange of chocolates, flowers, and jewelry. These presents are meant to
serve as tokens of affection; symbolic of the devotion between lovers. However, Angela Carter
presents these same gifts as obstacles that mediate the interactions between a couple, often to the
detriment of the relationship. In her modern reimagining of The Grimm s Fairy Tales, The Bloody
Chamber, Angela Carter perverts these symbolic displays of love to illustrate that a relationship
mediated by gifts, masks, and secrets will suffer the consequences. The gifts exchanged in these
stories act as barriers between lovers, obscuring each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Marquis and his wife in The Bloody Chamber suffer from distorted perceptions, and this is
smphasized in the repeated use of mirrors. Around their marital bed, there were mirrors on all the
walls, in stately frames of contorted gold (14). Everything that happens in that room is amplified and
multiplied, and reflected in the description of contorted gold is the idea of the distortions an image
bears when it is mirrored. Their multitude forces his bride to watch as a dozen husbands approach
[her] in a dozen mirrors (15). Her actual husband is lost among all the imposters and again, she is
forced to see him refracted through the glass. In the same way that her perceptions of her husband are
altered, she feels distorted. She states that I seemed reborn in his unreflective eyes, reborn in
unfamiliar shapes, which highlights how mediation has corrupted the relationship (20). Within the
same story and in direct contrast, the piano tuner Jean Yves is an example of the power of undistorted
perceptions. Though he is blind, he does not suffer from the same misinterpretations. While it is ironic
that the blind man sees the clearest, it proves that the lack of mediation does not refer only to sight.
His blindness and correlated success also highlights the issues the mirrors caused with the Marquis
because he cannot fall prey to the secondary

Types And Scope Of Event
Type and Scope of Event Before planning a successful event, ask why is this event happening in the
first place? Does the event have a purpose? I love planning events, especially ones that raise money
for charities. Hosting a charity ball is a fantastic fundraiser because it will give supporters a fun and
glamourous night out, with a hint of elegance. Adults can dress up, enjoy delicious food, sip some
wine, and dance to some groovy music. As an event planner, I have been selected to plan a charity ball
to raise money for the St. Jude s Children s Research Hospital. The goal of this event is to raise money

clear visors and the shaded ones, should make the choice clear for our consumers. Putting our product
in our own stores as well as other sports stores will increase profits for Nike as well as provide our
customers with a product that is a combination of two products. This will in turn save the consumer

Acceptable For Only One Parent Consent For Medical Care
acceptable for only one parent to give consent for medical care, (FAESN, 2015); this is an important
consideration since Joanne s father does not agree with her decision to transition. The ethical dilemma
in this case example is that possible legal issues between the parents could arise. If Joanne s mother
agreed to and sought hormone treatment and her father did not agree, he could challenge the decision.
The fact that the parents have joint custody could become a factor in a legal case which could delay or
stop treatment altogether. For Joanne, time is of the essence because onset of puberty could begin at
any time (Forcier, 2015). If puberty does begin, it could cause the biological and physical changes that
Joanne desperately wants to avoid (Forcier, 2015). Further ethical consideration is needed around how
this type of treatment is not well documented or researched and can seem very experimental
(Flederbach, 2015, p. 1459). After considerable research of Rhode Island laws, I was unable to locate
a specific law regarding joint custody implications in the area of medical care. As a practitioner, it
would be important to use agency legal resources if available to research legal implications further as
the information could have a great impact on Joanne and her future treatment plans. I could also
contact Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders (GLAD), an organization that advocates for and
provides legal resources to lesbian, gay and transgender individuals

The Role Of Immigrants In Animal Crackers And Annie Hall
The role of the immigrant as an American cultural figure cannot be understated, and the cultural
values associated with immigrant versus non immigrant Jews in particular are primarily class values.
However, even once assimilated and wealthy, upper class Jews face a difficult situational dichotomy:
Whether to join the high minded literati (a category that Jews helped shape in America) or the more
vulgar entrepreneurial class. The anxieties associated with Jewish history complicate this choice, and
its consequences are echoed in many films, including Animal Crackers and Annie Hall. Perhaps the
dichotomy between the high minded wealthy Jew and the vulgar wealthy Jew can be most clearly seen
by looking at Jack and Harry Warner. As profiled in Gabler s Between the Old Life and the New,
Harry Warner was a devoted family man, lived a quiet life... a stern moralist who would eventually
assume the role of moral adjudicator to his entire family. He was also a more observant Jew, and less
religiously assimilated. Jack, meanwhile, was a veteran provocateur who incited everyone, regarded as
a frustrated comedian who liked nothing better than telling very bad jokes in a loud voice, and seemed
to enjoy creating embarrassment. He also repeatedly refused any religious instruction. In some sense,
Jack could be seen as assimilated while Harry could be seen as defiantly Jewish. But it would be just
as easy to paint the opposite picture: Despite their religious differences, Harry put effort into coming
across as a member of high society, while Jack intentionally resisted and even opposed those norms.
Harry would often have to apologize for Jack, claiming he didn t have the advantages of such a good
education. Here, we see the beginning of the high minded/vulgar dichotomy that would continue to
separate wealthy Jews for the next century. The Marx Brothers Animal Crackers shows that this trope
was already recognized in the culture, and plays with the trope intentionally. When we first see
Groucho Marx, he is playing the role of Captain Spaulding, a rich adventurer returned from Africa. It s
never quite clear, in the film, to what extent Groucho is pretending to be Spaulding, and to what extent
he actually

Providence Health And Services Organization
Providence Health Services was established over 158 years ago, in 1856, when Mother Joseph of the
Sacred Heart and four other Sisters of Providence arrived in the state of Washington and answered the
call for help in a new pioneer community. The community was newly established and had no schools,
hospitals, or other institutions of care, and the people were struggling to survive. In 1959 the sisters
included their charity works into their mission, creating the network of healthcare services we know
today. Providence is the second oldest non profit healthcare organization in Washington (Providence
Health Services, 2014). Providence s mission statement is, As people of Providence, we reveal God s
love for all, especially the sick and vulnerable, through our compassionate service. And their vision is
Together, we answer the call of every person we serve: Know me, care for me ease my way.
(Providence Health Services, 2014, para. 1). Through God s love anything is possible, and caring for
the sick and vulnerable is a powerful mission. Going hand in hand with their mission and vision,
Providence s core values are Compassion, Justice, Respect, Excellence, and Stewardship (Providence
Health Services, 2014, para. 3). Providence s mission, vision, and core values are based on the faith of
the founding sisters. The sisters of Providence aimed to help the poor and vulnerable and provide them
with health. Despite their own hardships, the sisters worked hard to provide

How The Transportation Is Effecting The City
Globally, cities are facing problems of the population is living over a greater distance and travelling
further and more often (). Oil consumption is increasing but the supply is not increasing. Local
governments are facing the issue of how do they plan a city that can accommodate these changes?
Four studies reviewed cities and how the transportation is effecting the city. The case study cities were
Christchurch, New Zealand and Minneapolis, United States of America. This cities are similar because
they both have large populations living in suburbs who have to travel long distances for work, school,
leisure, socialising and more. In both cities, cars are stilled the popular mode of transport. Transport
can have effects on the surrounding land but not all the time. People are traveling to work differently
to previous generations. All of these issues explain the situation of the transport systems in
Christchurch and Minneapolis.
One issues that was raised in the readings is that cars continue to be a popular choice for residents in
both cities. Previous studies have shown that cities with high density living, use less cars because most
people walk or catch a bus due to everything they need being so close to their home. This pattern is
not happening in the case studies. Cars are the preferred mode of transport even if the residents have
access to public transport. In Minneapolis, residents do not tend to use the rail networks. One reason is
because commercial activities tend

Child Left Behind Act
The possible risks of passing a child to the next grade level due to the No Child Left Behind Act
(NCLB) could affect children from being the next leaders of America. So much that it has had a
tremendous impact on their quality of education, testing skills, learning, and funding. The No Child
Left Behind Act was passed in the year of 2002. It was established to require states and school districts
to ensure that all of the students are learning and are reaching their highest potential. It is true that
every student can learn, however not on the same day or in the same way. Since the act was passed
their policies has changed and so has many of the students situations have changed since then. In spite
of the fact that, the polices has changed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yes, some policies and guidelines have been changed, but is it growing with the different communities
and disadvantaged students? When the No Child Left Behind Act was implemented and signed by
President George W. Bush in 2002 it was designed to hold the schools accountable for the children s
education (Klein, 2015). In order for our children to become the next leaders of America our
educational system must be changed as well. If the funding can be provided as it is, then the time,
quality of education, testing skills, and learning abilities can be increased. After all, the school boards
of education across the United States is committed to its mission of preparing all students for success
in learning, leadership, and

  • 2. The Species Of Endangered Species Did you know that the endangerment or eventual extinction of a species causes the endangerment and extinction of other life forms, eventually leading to a negative impact on human well being? Currently, the endangered species list includes 16,306 species that are endangered and at risk of extinction, and 785 species have already gone extinct (Kasnoff). On the list of endangered species is the adorable sea otter. Sea otters are not only cute, but they play an extremely important role in the ecological preservation of Pacific kelp forests. Sea otters contribute towards the overall health and well being of the ecosystem they inhabit. Also, the inhalation of the oil by the sea otter results in illness and a weakened immune system (Recarte 10). The population decline of the sea otter serves as evidence of the poor state of the eco system in which they live. In her detailing of The California Recovery Plan, Recart emphasizes the sea otter s important role as a keystone and sentinel (bioindicator) species in their ecosystem, and goes on to state that they are the keepers of the kelp forest (10). Along with its keystone and sentinel role in its eco system, sea otters have important interactions with abiotic and biotic factors. Sea otters have an effect on the abiotic factors of their ecosystem, which include the ocean waves and currents as well as the levels of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the air. They affect those abiotic factors through the controlling of sea urchin populations who, without the sea otter, would decimate the kelp forests that in turn serve as a barrier to ocean currents and waves, providing protection for other marine animals from those elements (Laustsen). The sea otters consumption of urchins also ensures that kelp forest growth prevents soil erosion and that its photosynthesis reduces the amount of carbon dioxide and increases the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere (Nielsen). Without the sea otters protective role of the kelp forest, abiotic factors would go out of balance affecting and harming the biotic factors of this ecosystem. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Safety is one of the main purposes of electronic surveillance. Safety is the state of being secure and free from danger of any sort. Today, many would rather give up their privacy for safety (Smithsimon). In fact, surveillance gadgets such as cameras, radio tracking chips and house alarms are used in many places to ensure safety. For instance, a parent can easily place a hidden camera in a stuffed animal in order to see how the babysitter handles his or her child (Public Places Have Eyes). For instance, airlines have used the Computer Assisted Pre Screening System (CAPS) to spot any dangerous passengers that have checked into the airline. Additionally, metal detectors are heavily used in airlines to check for any weapons that a terrorist might use. Video cameras that capture faces and license plates found all throughout the airport are now equipped with a software that allows images to be recognized and matched with several databases (Public Places Have Eyes). Cameras in general are present in every corner of the airport to monitor all irregular activities. Some also believe that having a floating eye in the sky could prove to be a major deterrent in the war on terror when talking about aerial surveillance (Surveillance Tech). Moreover, these surveillance tools are not only used in airlines to prevent crime. These surveillance gadgets can also be used to prevent other crimes such as robberies, trespassing, assaults, and shopliftings everywhere. In fact, with the help of aerial cameras, the Tampa Florida Police Aviation Unit was able to perform 500 arrests in the year of 2003 (Surveillance Tech). These games could range anywhere from warfare games such as Call of Duty Black Ops, fantasy games such as Final Fantasy or sports games such as Madden 16 or NCAA Football 11. Games that we played more consistently than others were the team sports games such as NCAA football. The NCAA football games not only brought friends together but would also persuade our minds to play football when we were of age. However, EA has not produced a NCAA football game since 2012. Thus leaving the people like us who enjoyed the game, let down. The discontinuation of the NCAA college football series is a result of many things, specifically greed. Unfortunately, with the greediness of the athletes, EA will never be able to make another NCAA college football game. When we were younger, many of us dreamed to grow up and play football for our favorite college team. Therefore, when we played the NCAA football games, we were able to create a prediction of what we may look like if playing for our favorite college team. Many of us predicted that we would be six foot two, two hundred and twenty pound athletes who were usually the stars of the team. As a result of this false hope, many of us worked as hard as we could to make that goal obtainable. However, EA has not released any college football games and this has resulted in kids playing other games such as FIFA. In an article it was stated, He wondered how many kids have started ... Pelham III IB World Literature Dr. Smith 20 May 2015 The Siege Mentality of the Bourgeoisie in Ibsen s A Doll House By the time of Ibsen s A Doll House (1879) the bourgeoisie was firmly established as the dominant class in Europe. To legitimize their power capitalists defined themselves against other classes, claiming they possessed inherent qualities justifying their position. A rigid moral system and social code reinforced class stratification. These structures also enforced conformity within, thus pressuring even the powerful to maintaining the appearance of conformity. This statement does two things. First, it connects the well being of the children with the need to prevent moral corruption. Second, it reinforces Nora s role within the strict limits of child rearing. The attempt to gain distance from her children is both an attempt to transcend the limiting role defined by propriety and an expression of her fear of her corrupting them. This links the fear of Krogstad s moral corruption with the fear of Nora s forgery and its transgression against social norms. This reifies the fear of poor parenting as Nora ultimately separates herself from the family in order to protect her children. However, the home also functioned as an indicator of class. Therefore there was extreme pressure to prevent penetration of the home by the outside world, and to preserve the ideal of domestic tranquility. Nora summarizes this, prior to the party, when she is talking about Krogstad s letter: You mustn t read such things now; there mustn t be anything ugly between us (92). The wife is the symbol of domesticity. The home is moth a social limit and a space of feminine control. As a result anything ugly between us is analogous to ugliness between Torvald and his house. • 18. Intoredance And Intolerance In The Crucible By Arthur Miller The definition of the word martyr as defined by Merriam Webster is a person who voluntarily suffers death as the penalty of witnessing to and refusing to renounce a religion. When many people think of a martyr their first instinct in their mind is not to think of witchcraft and the town of Salem. The play written by Arthur Miller titled The Crucible is based on real events that correlate with this definition. The Crucible depicts the 1692 Salem Witch Trials that transformed the town of Salem into hysteria. The start of the trials began way before Abigail Williams accused one of the townspeople of witchcraft, but when many girls were caught dancing and singing in the woods. The trials continued for less than a year but over 200 people were accused. With the breakout of hysteria and intolerance the town everyone seemed to turn on eachother. Giles Corey embodied the theme of the play The Crucible by being intolerant and going against the others, eventually costing him his life. To begin, the theme of The Crucible is intolerance. To understand this theme you have to know what Intolerance is. Unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behaviors that differ from one s own is intolerance. The reason supporting why Giles Corey embodies intolerance is because in the play, Giles was a dynamic character. This means that he went through a change throughout the play both physically and emotionally. The change that we see Giles go through is when he becomes intolerant and goes away from what majority of the others within Salem are believing, witchcraft. The argument of the proof that Giles showed his neighbor,Ann Putnam, about the accusation of witchcraft was another example of how he portrayed the theme throughout the play. Another lasting impact that Giles has on the theme of the play is that was intolerant to a large group of Salem townspeople whose main motive for witch accusations was for the dispute over land and wealth within the community. The accusation of Giles and his wife Martha is directly because of that dispute. Not only did the intolerance of the many people within the town caused Giles to change, but unfortunately cost him his wife s and his own life. A secondary thought to tie in with Giles and ... Most of the roads thus created did not meet quality standards because fiscal space was not adequate to accommodate both the demand for resources for rural roads and also the national highway network which was getting congested. Even in the case of power sector, village electrification was a priority so as to provide power for the farms, but not necessarily to households. Emphasis on connectivity, without improvements in overall economic efficiency meant unsustainable financial burden on the government budgets. In the time of slower economic growth or external shocks such as wars and high oil prices, infrastructure investments were major casualty. China with its high economic growth rates and higher savings rates was able to allocate much larger resources for investments in general. In the 1980, China saved 35% of GDP whereas India s savings rate was less than half at 15.5%. This combined, with higher fiscal deficits in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the attachment, when children respect their parents, appreciate all that they do for them, they are less likely to be involved in criminal activity. However, when they do not have the proper guidance, lack of concern for their outside activities, they tend to stray, and seek out those who show concern for them. Often it becomes a role model, a close friend, someone to which they seek approval from. This becomes their attachment bond. In gangs, this often leads to the higher authority, a person to which they look up too, to whom they want to become. The level of commitment involves how far one will go to prove themselves. One is committed to a gang, to which they consider all members family. People who have money, property, and good reputations are committed to the social system that allowed them the opportunities for that success (Fuller 2006). This is an interesting take on the way a child views their father and mother and how the father has craved freedom. The sacrifices that have been made are worth keeping our children and fellow citizens safe. We are a living and working part of the organism called society. The military family may very well fit into the conflict perspective. The military family is constantly battling to protect the power of the nation from other nations. Families are a constant state of conflict with each other. The service member deploys. The children begin to experience behavioral problems. The spouse takes on extra roles acts as single parents. Economic finances have changes, and everything costs more, so many are choosing to take the food that costs the least not seeing the true negative things happening regarding their low prices. Big Business focuses on quantity not quality and making money which directly leads to the customers demand. Customers are buying lower quantity because it is what is economical causing big business costs to go higher for production. Is Factory Farming a negative or positive for our society? Companies are trying to meet the food consumption demands with using a modern agricultural technique of factory farming (Coller, 4 7). Factory farms house large number of animals to be raised for food in a confined space of farms to minimize operation cost, and the mass production drives down the food prices as they could produce excess number of animals to meet the demand (Coller, 4 7). However, except for offering human abundant amount of cheaper food, factory farming is an unhealthy agricultural practice to both human and the environment (Coller,4 7). Acceptable For Only One Parent Consent For Medical Care acceptable for only one parent to give consent for medical care, (FAESN, 2015); this is an important consideration since Joanne s father does not agree with her decision to transition. The ethical dilemma in this case example is that possible legal issues between the parents could arise. If Joanne s mother agreed to and sought hormone treatment and her father did not agree, he could challenge the decision. The fact that the parents have joint custody could become a factor in a legal case which could delay or stop treatment altogether. For Joanne, time is of the essence because onset of puberty could begin at any time (Forcier, 2015). If puberty does begin, it could cause the biological and physical changes that Joanne desperately wants to avoid (Forcier, 2015). • 42. The Role Of Immigrants In Animal Crackers And Annie Hall The role of the immigrant as an American cultural figure cannot be understated, and the cultural values associated with immigrant versus non immigrant Jews in particular are primarily class values. However, even once assimilated and wealthy, upper class Jews face a difficult situational dichotomy: Whether to join the high minded literati (a category that Jews helped shape in America) or the more vulgar entrepreneurial class. The anxieties associated with Jewish history complicate this choice, and its consequences are echoed in many films, including Animal Crackers and Annie Hall. Perhaps the dichotomy between the high minded wealthy Jew and the vulgar wealthy Jew can be most clearly seen by looking at Jack and Harry Warner. As profiled in Gabler s Between the Old Life and the New, Harry Warner was a devoted family man, lived a quiet life... a stern moralist who would eventually assume the role of moral adjudicator to his entire family. He was also a more observant Jew, and less religiously assimilated. Jack, meanwhile, was a veteran provocateur who incited everyone, regarded as a frustrated comedian who liked nothing better than telling very bad jokes in a loud voice, and seemed to enjoy creating embarrassment. He also repeatedly refused any religious instruction. In some sense, Jack could be seen as assimilated while Harry could be seen as defiantly Jewish. But it would be just as easy to paint the opposite picture: Despite their religious differences, Harry put effort into coming across as a member of high society, while Jack intentionally resisted and even opposed those norms. Harry would often have to apologize for Jack, claiming he didn t have the advantages of such a good education. Here, we see the beginning of the high minded/vulgar dichotomy that would continue to separate wealthy Jews for the next century. The Marx Brothers Animal Crackers shows that this trope was already recognized in the culture, and plays with the trope intentionally. When we first see Groucho Marx, he is playing the role of Captain Spaulding, a rich adventurer returned from Africa. It s never quite clear, in the film, to what extent Groucho is pretending to be Spaulding, and to what extent he actually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The community was newly established and had no schools, hospitals, or other institutions of care, and the people were struggling to survive. • 44. How The Transportation Is Effecting The City Globally, cities are facing problems of the population is living over a greater distance and travelling further and more often (). Oil consumption is increasing but the supply is not increasing. Local governments are facing the issue of how do they plan a city that can accommodate these changes? Four studies reviewed cities and how the transportation is effecting the city. The case study cities were Christchurch, New Zealand and Minneapolis, United States of America. This cities are similar because they both have large populations living in suburbs who have to travel long distances for work, school, leisure, socialising and more. In both cities, cars are stilled the popular mode of transport. Transport can have effects on the surrounding land but not all the time. People are traveling to work differently to previous generations. All of these issues explain the situation of the transport systems in Christchurch and Minneapolis. One issues that was raised in the readings is that cars continue to be a popular choice for residents in both cities. Previous studies have shown that cities with high density living, use less cars because most people walk or catch a bus due to everything they need being so close to their home. This pattern is not happening in the case studies. Cars are the preferred mode of transport even if the residents have access to public transport. In Minneapolis, residents do not tend to use the rail networks. One reason is because commercial activities tend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
