Examples Of Humanity s Sinful Nature And Edmund Pevensie
Humanity s Sinful Nature and Edmund Pevensie
Humanity is a beautiful force of nature, but just as an ocean in beautiful, it is also treacherous.
Human nature is sinful in nature, No one has to teach a child to lie or be selfish; rather, we go to
great lengths to teach children to tell the truth and put others first. Sinful behavior comes naturally.
( What is the sin nature? , 2017). C.S. Lewis wrote a series of books called The Chronicles of
Narnia and in one of these named The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. C.S. Lewis weaves a
wonderful tale about four children collectively called the Pevensie children who find a world
unlike any other inside of a wardrobe. They meet the all powerful Lion, Aslan, that brings awe to
their person. They hear about the White Witchwith all of her horrors, and Edmund (one of the
children) even experiences her himself. The children even fight a battle against the forces of evil
in their minds and physically on the battlefield leading to the thrones of Narnia. Through this grand
story, C.S. Lewis wrote in a character very important to the ideas of human nature. Edmund was
one of the Pevensie children and is used in C.S. Lewis s novel as a representation of humanity. C.S.
Lewis presents Edmund as humanity through his foolish blindness to that which is sin, his pride
and jealousy, and his fear of judgement.
Edmund is already a foolish boy by the result of his sinful nature. C.S. Lewis shows us this in the
book when he writes, He jumped in

Essay On The Great Stupa Of Sanchi
The Great Stupa, Sanchi One of the outstanding monuments in India, the Great Stupa, Sanchi,
leaves a lasting impression on its visitors. It is found that its construction is started back in the 3rd
century during Mauryan emperor Ashoka s regime and researchers believe that it is one of the most
ancient stone structures Indiahas in its geographical boundary (Archaeological Survey of India).
At the present time, it is in Sanchi town, situated in one of the India s states, Madhya Pradesh s
Raisen district. This Buddhist pilgrimage attraction is not remained only as a tourist spot in India,
but it has world s recognition as well. UNESCO has recognized its legacy and includes it in World
heritage sitecategory. In truth, it is one of the marvel architectures in India, which depicts ancient
Buddhist art and architecture, of which construction and amendments spans into several different
centuries (third century BC to the twelfth century AD) (UNESCO World Heritage Centre, 1989).

Many theorists have interpreted several studies on this Stupa for its relation with nature s elements.
For example, the Great Stupa of Sanchi has surrounded by a balustrade reminiscent of Sun s circuit.
Further, having 28 posts, harmika balustrade represents the number of nakshatras (Subhash, 2010).
Likewise, its orientation is also kept in line with the center of the structure and assigning a vector
to determine the exact East West line on the date of the Spring equinox. Further, talking about its
symbolism, Stupa, it represents freedom from the birth death cycle, and while its dome represents
world egg and Buddha s life and other Jataka stories epitomize Buddha himself. Similarly, four
gateways denote elements of Buddhist philosophy. Its hill location even represents the spreading of

Look Up By Gary Turk
I recently watched a video of a spoken word poetry entitled Look Up by Gary Turk, an award
winning filmmaker and spoken word artist. The poem highlights the author, Gary Turk s
criticism of society s overdependence and overuse of technology and social media. In his poetry,
Turk cleverly uses a love story to further strengthen his opinion and the message he wants to
convey to us. In my opinion, Turk makes some solid arguments that I agree with and does a good
job in getting his point across, however, there is one point he brings up which I do not agree with.
The first message I have deduced from the poem is that we should communicate with people in real
life instead of just through social media. In the poem, Gary says when we open our ... Show more

In Look Up there is a line that says don t waste your life getting caught in the net, because when
the end comes, there s nothing worse than regret . I thought Gary made a very smart play on the
phrase caught in the net . It carries two meanings; getting addicted to the internet and social media
and fishes getting caught physically in an actual net. Gary likens the former to the latter,
effectively conveying his point that if you devote your whole life to the internet, you will not be
able to appreciate the world in all its wonder and beauty. The internet can only satisfy you so much.
There is so much more out there that we should experience that can not only make us happy, but
can also contribute to our emotional and intellectual development as individuals. We have been

How The Diaspora Helped Violence Essay
How the Diaspora helped Violence Having established the motives for the Diaspora aiding the
nationalist, now it needs to be analyzed what the diaspora actually did to aid the nationalist
movement. The aid can be broken down into three categories, financial, political and physical
aid. The first and the biggest being financial aid and this type of aid was collected by members
of the Irish Diaspora in the US then given to various different nationalist groups. Seldom was the
money given to violent groups like the IRA but instead was given to other groups and in turn led
to the purchasing of arms or goods and stuff like that which the IRA could use. One of the major
organizations that did this was Noraid or Irish Northern Aid. The true purpose of Noraid dealt
with arms smuggling and fund raising and thus were closely aligned and allied with the
IRA(Brian Hanley 2004:1). The support for Noraid in terms of funding can be tracked in the
same exact way that the general diasporatic support can be tracked. The hunger strikes of 1980
81, in which IRA prisoners staged a hunger strike to protest conditions in their prison in which a
few of them died, was monumental in the history of Noraid because it led to not only an increase
of donation which in turn were given to IRA and groups like it but it also changed the image of
Noraid in the US. It led to an increase in membership and made the organization less radical which
meant that it year by year would have generally more memberships and

A Different History and Where I Come from Essay
Elizabeth Brewster and Sujata Bhatt both suggest the significance of place in helping to shape a
person s identity in their poems but they do it in different ways.
Brewster suggests that places change our identity when she writes People are made of places .
This shows that every different place we visit we take the memories and experiences that we had
there and keep them in our minds and hearts forever. Whereas Bhatt suggests that when we go to a
new place we forget who we previously were and change ourselves so that we fit in with the new
culture that we are living in. We know this from when she says And how does it happen/ that after
the torture . This shows the struggle to keep your cultural heritage when you move places.
In A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Where I Come From Brewster uses the metaphor ice and the breaking of ice . This is to show
that even though you are in a different place than you are used to you are ready to break the ice
when meeting new people and having new experiences. Bhatt suggests that you bring the
conventions to the country you move to from your old country and then you add to them from
the things you learn in the new culture that you are living in. We know this because she says
Great Pan is not dead . This also shows that your cultural heritage will never die as it will always be
a part of you whether it s obvious or not.
Elizabeth Brewster suggests that places change our identities when she says nature tidily plotted
in little squares . This gives us the impression that everyone in the city is the same and they are
all neat and tidy busybodies. This differs from what Bhatt suggests when she says Here, the gods
roam freely, / disguised as snakes or monkeys . This shows that in India you can be whoever or
whatever you want without being judged by anyone and you can be unique.
However A Different History is similar to what Brewster is suggesting as Bhatt writes every tree is
sacred . This shows that everything and everyone is equal and has the same rights as each other.
Brewster shows that in her homeland everything is different because there are, battered

Theme of Death in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily Essay
Theme of Death in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily
William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily is a tragic tale of a Southern aristocrat, Miss Emily Grierson,
who is the subject of a town s obsession. The narrator, a member of the town, tells the story of
what transpires in a decaying old Southern house that is always under the watchful eye of the
townspeople. They witness Miss Emily s life, her father s death, her turn to insanity and the death of
both her and her lover. The theme of death runs throughout this tale, which is understandable
considering the events that take place in the story. Faulkner uses foreshadowing to foretell events
that will transpire later in the story. Because of this foreshadowing, a reader ... Show more content

This description of Emily s hair is important, because one of Emily s hairs will be found next to
Homer s body, and it also shows how Emily is decaying like the house and items inside. Early in
the story Emily writes a letter on stationary of an archaic shape and with fading ink . The
references here are to the way she is always described growing older and decaying. Even Emily s
house shares her short squat characteristic and coquettish decay .
The insanity of Miss Emily is also foretold in A Rose for Emily. When the body of Homer is found
in her bed, the reader can understand that Emily killed him, because her mental stability had
been questioned a number of times. The narrator begins these allusions to her mental state when
he tells how the mayor, Colonel Sartoris, bestows a special tax exemption upon Miss Emily.
Colonel Sartoris makes up a story so unbelievable that it is described as so outlandish that only a
woman could have believed it . Later, the townspeople talk about her great aunt, the lady Wyatt,
who had gone completely crazy. They wonder about poor Emily with the insanity in her family.
Her mental state comes into question again when the town removes the body of her father. She is
said to have broke down and finally let them in to take and bury the body. This is an obvious
analogy to her having a mental breakdown. This is followed with the statement that the
townspeople did

The Magnetic Field Of A Permanent Magnet

Task 3.1
a)The magnetic field of a permanent magnet causes the atoms to move around uniformly in the
same direction. This may vary depending on the electrons of the atoms causing a variety of
atoms to be able to do this and few which can hold a permanent magnetic field. It is an invisible
field and it is also called a vector because of the forces specified direction and magnitude. The
arrow displays the direction of the force and also how the forces are. The closer the lines are

they are.

If the magnet is withdrawn, the direction of the current is reversed. Such currents are called
induced currents. The current flows in the conductor as a result of an electromotive force that is

The effect of conductor moving through a magnetic field is that it would cause a electromagnetic
field which is used in transformers to change current and voltage.
Mutual inductance is the magnetic field generated by a coil of wire which induces a voltage in the
other coil of wire. A transformer is an object constructed of multiple numbers of coils in close
proximity to each other, with the express purpose of creating a condition of mutual inductance
between the coils.
Transformers Having a different number of coils between two coils of wire can cause a decreas
of voltage of AC currents in applications. Transformers are based on Faraday s Law of
electromagnetic induction and mutual induction; the transformer has the first wire coil that emits a
magnetic flux that has a EMF in a secondary wire coil with aid of a high magnetic permeable core.

Battle of Belleau Wood Essay
In March 1918, with nearly 50 additional divisions freed by the Russian surrender on the Eastern
Front, the German Army launched a series of attacks on the Western Front, hoping to defeat the
Allies before U.S. forces could be fully deployed. In the north, the British 5th Army was virtually
destroyed by two major offensive operations, Michael and Georgette around the Somme. A third
offensive launched in May against the French between Soissons and Reims, known as the Third
Battle of the Aisne, saw the Germans reach the north bank of the Marne river at ChГўteau Thierry,

However, the Marines failed to scout the woods. As a consequence, they missed a regiment of
German infantry dug in, with a network of machine gun nests and artillery.[7] At dawn, the Marine
1st Battalion, 5th Marines commanded by Major Julius Turrill was to attack Hill 142, but only two
companies were in position. The Marines advanced in waves with bayonets fixed across an open
wheat field that was swept with German machine gun and artillery fire, and many Marines were cut
down.[9][10] Captain Crowther commanding the 67th Company was killed almost immediately.
Captain Hamilton and the 49th Company fought from wood to wood, fighting the entrenched
Germans and overrunning their objective by 6 yards (5.5 m). At this point, Hamilton had lost all
five junior officers, while the 67th had only one commissioned officer alive. Hamilton reorganized
the two companies, establishing strong points and a defensive line.[11] In the German counter
attack, then Gunnery Sergeant Ernest A. Janson who was serving under the name Charles
Hoffman repelled an advance of 12 German soldiers, killing two with his bayonet before the others
fled; for this action he became the first Marine to receive the Medal of Honor in World War I. Also
cited for advancing through enemy fire during the counter attack was then Gunner Henry
Hulbert.[12] The rest of the battalion now arrived and went into action.

Freud was born to parents Jakob and Amalia, who at the time had not a single penny to their

Importance Of Internet And Online Marketing
Section 2 Literature review
The purpose of literature review is to find what literature has to offer on how retailers in New
Zealand and Australia use internet and online marketing to do business, and the barriers they face
in doing so. It would also look into the way retailers retain their customers.
2.1 Importance of internet and online marketing to business
Before one proceeds to explore the importance of internet and online marketing to business, it is
important to understand how well New Zealand is connected with internet. New Zealand is in a
very comfortable position to benefit from internet use. The physical internet infrastructure is
growing and Government s ultra fast broadband and rural broadband programmes have made sure
that high speed internet is available throughout the country. This could potentially lead New
Zealand to have the best network infrastructure in the world, as evidenced by the use of internet
by businesses throughout the country (Adams, 2013). Ninety six percent (96%) of firms are
connected with internet. The economic performances of these firms depend on how well they use
it. Apart from the availability of internet, it is vital to note the way businesses use internet by to
improve the way they do business. Most of the businesses in New Zealand do not use internet to
its full potential, as proved from the World Wide Web Foundation (2012) ranking. New Zealand is
ranked 17th in the world for its ability to extract economic value from

Essay on Analysis of Penelope as Moral Agent in Homer’s...
In her essay Penelope as Moral Agent, Helene Foley attempts to discuss Penelope, a major
character in Homer s the Odyssey, in terms of Classical Athenian portrayals of women and, as her
title suggests, in terms of what she calls a moral agent. In her introductory paragraph she lays out
guidelines as set down by Aristotle and his contemporaries that constitute a moral agent: the
character must make an ethical and moral decisionon which the actions turns...without critical
knowledge of the circumstances (Foley 93). To this end, Foley ultimately decides that Penelope
meets these standards and adds that her social, familial and personal responsibilities play integral
roles in making that decision. Foley s examples and her in depth... Show more content on

Direct connections she makes between the Odyssey and the outside texts are nominal. She
neglects to explain why she would compare Penelope to Aristotle s ideas on the woman s role in
society, or in what respect the biological findings of Hippocrates could have possibly have
influenced or been influenced by Homer s epic. The only hint the reader is exposed to is when,
on page 94 she asks, To what degree does the world of the Odyssey prefigure popular Classical
Athenian assumptions about women as moral agents? The keyword here is prefigure and it
indicates to me that Homer wrote before the classical writers that Foley uses as her basis of
understanding the term moral agent. That the reader must figure that out based on one word out
of a twenty page essay instead of being exposed to at least a small discussion of the chronology of
when the authors and philosophers in question lived and wrote also detracts from the essay as a
whole.
Because Foley is trying to establish a framework based on historical and cultural ideas, that
framework must be imbedded in a sufficient understanding of history itself in order to validate its
meaning. In addition, I cannot but be aware of the fact that there is little direct comparison
between Homer s epic poem and the outside works Foley uses, and especially by Aristotle. In fact,
whenever she does make a direct comparison is when she discounts the relevance of the outside
source. One of the few times the philosophies

Science And Religion Research Paper
Today, it seems like science and religion are in a constant, bloody war with one another, similarly to
the on going war between the Palestinians and the Jews, but what are science and religion? Science
is the intellectual study of the structure and behavior of the world through observation and
experiment. Religionis the belief in a superior being or many superior beings. Although scienceand
religion seem like two diverse topics, the two methods of explanation are more alike than one
would think, and both of these things together complement each other to give us our modern
technology and how we as a society should use it. First, to explain how science and religion are
similar, we have to look back in time. Throughout our history and deep in... Show more content on

Without the contribution our religion institution provided us, we could still be stuck in a dark
time with a lack of advances in technological. The catholic church was the first place to allowed
the common folk (peasants) the luxury of books and education. Before the Catholic Church
opened the opportunity of education and books to the masses, education and books were strictly
for the wealthy. With the education provided by the catholic church, the people started to question
things in their environment. They also started pursuing answers to their questions away from
text. People held experiments and would document it carefully. An example of a person who did
document his findings is Roger Bacon. It was the curiosity of the common folk and the
opportunity the Catholic Church gave the common folk that helped to re birth science in Europe.
This action made by the catholic church changed the course of history, which gave European
empires an opportunity to compete among the hegemonic powers at the time (the Abbasid

youth of the world and as a result, has a huge emphasis on science and technology. The second
clue to how these three big topics are closely related is in the nature of science. Science is our

The Between Austria Hungary And The German Empire
In addition to the treaty of London, numerous other treaties and alliances help explain the
outbreak of WWI. The Dual Alliance between Austria Hungary and the German Empire in 1879
ensured a promise of mutual defense if either side was attacked by Russia, and neutrality if
attacked by any other nation. Italy joined the Dual Alliance in 1882 forming the Triple Alliance or
central powers. Additionally, France formed an alliance with Russia in 1894 and an entente
cordiale, or friendship with Britain in 1904. Subsequently, Britain formed an entente with Russia
in 1907, effectively forming the Triple Entente. This relationship further exacerbated German
fears of encirclement and left if facing a war on two fronts if it attacked or was attacked by one of
the members of the Entente. The nations involved perceived these alliances as a form of protection
and a deterrent to war. However, as predicted by the spiral mode, it only further increased concerns
and decreased trust amongst the belligerents. Additionally, the alliances united the nations together
so that, if one country went to war, the others were obligated to honor the alliance and join their
partners in war (Tuchman). Consequently, the Austro Hungarian declaration of war and attack on
Serbia caused Russia to enter the war in support of its Slavic ally. This drove France to honor its
alliance with Russia and join in war against the Triple Alliance (which Italy subsequently abandoned

Federalists vs. Democratic Republicans
The United States of America was founded on a Constitution that was supposed to preserve our
freedoms and certain liberties. All Americans at that time wanted to keep America a free an
independent nation with rights for its people. However there was two different groups, the
Federalists lead by Alexander Hamilton and the Democratic Republicans led by Thomas Jefferson,
which thought this could be achieved in very different ways. Thomas Jefferson and Alexander
Hamilton were very different in their methods to try and develop America as a nation. The two
were very much alike because they both were avid Americans, and wanted to see the nation

The Federalist party, including Hamilton, supported the British more than the French. Federalists
wanted to stay neutral in the French Revolution. Someone who was polar opposite of Alexander
Hamilton in their views was Thomas Jefferson, a member of the Democratic Republican Party.
Jefferson was in favor of a smaller central government with more power to the states. He perceived
that it was unconstitutional to have the federal government to have so much influence on daily life.
Jefferson thought that agriculture should be the backbone of the economy. He also did not support
the idea of a central bank, Jefferson thought that the U.S. should pay off all of its debt and stay out
of business affairs. Those who labor in the earth are the chosen people of god.....for substantial and
genuine virtue (Document D). Thomas thought that America should be the voice of ALL of the
people so he wanted the common people to be able to have more of an influence in the government.
Jefferson did not trust the wealthy people in government and thought that the more down to earth
farmers and commoners would keep them in check. A very prominent difference in Hamilton and
Jefferson was their views on the constitution. Powers not delegated to the United States by the

The Noh Theater
Imagine two mimes wearing masks and colorful robes, the image would not be too terribly far off
from a common Noh play. Originating in Japan during the fourteenth century, the Noh Theatre uses
few actors wearing colorful clothing and depictive masks to perform beautiful plays pertaining to
the afterlife. Due to the dark times it came from and the sad way it was performed, NohTheatre is
one of the most dramatic of its time. O Donnell states the origins of Noh start in the Muromachi
period of Japan, which began in 1338 when Takauji overthrew Go Daigo as shogun, the ruler of
Japan. This period lasted from 1338 1573 and is known for its military conflicts and intrigue.
During the first 50 years of this period the north and south were segregated, until the south agreed
under the rule of a single shogun. In those 50 years multiple earthquakes struck Japan, draught and
famine, and two new diseases swept the nation killing thousands. In 1370 Yoshimitsu had taken the
title of shogun, introducing trade with China and forming new social classes. The prosperity did
not last long as the power struggle for shogun began the Onin War in 1467. After its resolution
smaller battles continued between those who wanted power and money, as many shoguns spent
time for their own good instead of governing their people (O Donnell). Using two types of plays,
sarugaku, which was mimicry, and kagura, religious theatre; it is from these dark times that

The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting
The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting, 1989 Some refer to it as The Slaughter in a School
Yard, The Stockton Massacre, and others as The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting.
Something as horrifying as someone shooting down innocent children playing at recesses on
school grounds was never expected here in the United States of America. Although there was
past cases of school shootings, this was the first shooting to be televised on national television
of its magnitude (Taining, P et al., 2014). A mass murderer is defined as someone who
slaughters many people at one time. This particular incident unfortunately was not the slaughter
of people, but it was children. It happened around 11:40 AM on January 17th, 1989 in Stockton,
California. A man by the name of Patrick Edward Purdy opened fire on children ages six through
nine playing at recess on school grounds of Cleveland Elementary School. This tragic case
brought questions to people everywhere in our nation as to why it was so easy for a mentally
unstable individual such as Patrick Purdy to enter a gun store and purchase a semiautomatic
weapon ( Slaughter in a, 2001). Patrick Edward Purdy was born November 10, 1964 in Fort
Lewis Washington. His parents divorced at age two. He is described as an adolescent as quiet but
unable to cope with anything. He had a troubled relationship with his mother and was made to leave
his mother s home after an altercation between the two resulting in him hitting her. He

Domestication Of Foxes Essay

Science Research Paper
Domestication of foxes in Russia In the world people have been domesticating animals for
amusement, comfort, and for them to be mans best friend. Now a new mans best friend comes to
thought; to domesticate foxes. In Russia a Soviet geneticist Dmitry K. Belyaev started the fast pace
domestication of foxes. Up to 50,000 foxes used through time people are getting close to the
domestication of foxes, although the process was very detailed; with genetic science, to identify
how phenotypes change from experiments, and how the fox s will change their behavior. Out of
a small town in 1954 in Siberia Dmitry K Belyaev set out to isolate the genes of dogs that were
easy to train. He decided he wanted to work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their body size, fur color, fur length, and if the fur was straight or curly was all altered. Some lost

Although some people get domestication confused, domestication is the change in a genetic level.
The actual definition is is the process whereby a population of living organisms is changed at the
genetic level, through generations of selective breeding, to accentuate traits that ultimately benefit
the interests of humans. Taming is different then domestication by a long shot. Taming means to
train a wild animal not to kill the human. Also by taming them, the fox doesn t have a strong
affection and willingness to do anything to comfort the human. The program also tests
willingness to obedience. For the owner of the fox to have a great relationship with his
companion, the fox must learn simple obedience. Simple calls will be tested on the foxes in
Russia: come, sit, stay, down, and settle. All domesticated foxes will go through the process by
hand gestures. Then the scientists will take notes on how the animals do. If the kits are raised and
treated like domesticated dog puppies and pass this test, then the scientist will concur that the genes
are pertinent to domestication and are present in their

Tupac Shakur And The West
I m a reflection of the community, Tupac Shakur. (3) For most artists, music creates a medium
that can be used to express their thoughts and feelings to listeners, but for Tupac Shakur, known
mostly as 2Pac, music became the medium in which he communicated not only his own struggles,
but also the struggles of his community and his peers. (1) Tupac possessed an uncanny ability to
express emotion through his lyrics, being able to tell detailed and tangible stories about the daily
violence and crime that he witnessed while growing up in the impoverished community of East
Harlem, New York (Tupac moved to Los Angeles when he was 17). (4) Tupac s counterpart,

issues that plagued the society that he lived in, setting Tupac aside from the rest of the rappers
who only rapped about money, drugs, and woman. (S) Tupac really came onto the scene with
the song Brenda s Got a Baby. (L) The song provides a chilling tale of a young girl in his
neighborhood who turned to prostitution as a means of supporting herself and her child,
ultimately leading to her death. (M) With Tupac, you can feel the emotion in every word he
raps, and part of the reason why this happens is because he s so versatile (Holden). (L) Another
song that had great influence on society and Tupac s legacy, Keep Your Head Up , became a hit
song when released in 1993, quickly climbing to the top of the music charts. (S) In the song,
Tupac tackles the issue of the lack of appreciation for woman. (M) Tupac took the struggles of
living in poverty and the ghetto and turned it into poetry. At times he tried to spread positive
messages in his music (Art of Rap Music). (S) Tupac s music will forever remain in the hearts of
its listeners because of its emotion, power, and ability to relate to. By reaching the hearts of his
listeners, Tupac has influenced many of the prolific rapper of today. Tupac was the first one to

Prior to European settlement: The Yarra River is not big at all compared to other rivers in the
world. It only runs for 242km. It is not very deep or wide either. Its source is off the flanks of Mt

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Abrasive Jet Machining
Sapphire0.2 0.8 300
Abrasive:
The most common abrasive materials used for Abrasive jet machining are aluminum oxide, silicon
carbide. Sodium bicarbonates, glass beads of small grain size and dolomite are used for cleaning
and polishing purpose. The selection of abrasive material depends on the work material, machining
operation and required material removal rate.
The size of the material is also important. The material removal rate (MRR) depends on the grain
size. The coarse grains give high MRR, and they are recommended for cutting. The finer grains are
useful in finishing operation. However, the finer grain tends to stick together and cause a clog in
the nozzle. The grain must be sharp edged, but fine enough to remain ... Show more content on

Thin sections of brittle and hard material like ceramic, glass, and germanium can be machined.
Disadvantages of Abrasive Jet Machining: The material removal rate is low. The process tends to
environmental pollution. A dust collection system must be provided to avoid air pollution and
health hazards. This can be eliminated by using abrasive water jet machining. The abrasive
powder cannot be reused because its cutting ability decrease and it may clog on orifice of the
nozzle. Higher chance of stray cutting*. Tapering may occur during drilling. AJM not suited for
machining of soft material because the abrasive may get embedded in the work material. Nozzle
life is low (300hr), and short standoff distance causes frequent damages on the nozzle. The air used
for abrasive jet must be moister and oil free.
* Stray cutting is an over cutting of material during machining process. It results in a non uniform
cutting surface. Stray cutting is unavoidable if cutting operation not properly controlled.
Applications:
AJM is suitable for machining heat sensitive material like silicon, gallium because the heat
generation during the machining is very

Jean Stewart Bridges Not Walls
In Bridges not walls, Stewart (2012) talks about the communication walls that hurts our perception
of people. Stewart goes on to list and describe what they are; deception, betrayal and aggression.
Deception is lying (p.329) and it is a form of betrayal that hurts our trust, respect and
communication while in relationship with others. Betrayal is when you have high expectations of
a person and they let you down, disappointing you concerning the expectation that you have set for
them. Aggression is when you abuse a persons self concept (p.329), emotionally, socially, mentally,
physically, and psychologically (Stewart, 2012). According to Burley Allen (1995), in Listening:
The Forgotten Skill, talks about the effectiveness of communications. The theory that our minds
perceive depends on how well we listen with our heart, mind and soul when we communicate with
others (p.169). According to Burley Allen (1995), our filter system determines how we perceive
others when we first meet or see someone, its call sizing up (p.170). According to Burley Allen

Southwest Airlines Culture
Southwest Airlines
Southwest Airlines has earned many impressive attributes over the years. The first would be the
rise from a small market airline in Texas to becoming a top airline in the United States. During the
1970s, Southwest overcame legal troubles when Braniff and Texas International attempted to put
the company out of business by way of harassment. In 2016 Southwest Airlines is larger than both
previously mentioned companies. Another impressive aspect of Southwest is the personality and
positive attitude former CEO Herb Kelleher brought in the 1980s. He was unlike most upper
management professionals, being known for wearing Hawaiian shirts, pranking his workers, and
once arm wrestling an executive for the use of a slogan. Also, Kelleher ... Show more content on

First, the company needed to increase their prices. Although the airline wanted to strive for the
cheapest prices, if they would have implemented a bagging fee, they could have generated more
revenue. Instead of charging a large fee like the other airlines, they could have charged a $10 fee
and advertised for the cheapest baggage fees. Also, they could have increased their fee for
internet connectivity. People would probably be willing to pay more than eight dollars a device,
especially if their flight was longer. A small increase in prices would help the company with
profits, but they would also still be competing with their low prices. Another element to consider is
that the airline had many ideas and plans that were supposed to happen during 2014 and the future.
Making sure that the fleets and systems are continuing to be modernized and updated throughout
the years is very important in both staying competitive and operating at a low cost. Lastly,
Southwest needs to better utilize making projections. For example, the Rapid Rewards program
exceeded management s expectation and if there were better projections, then the company could
have better prepared for the large number of redemptions. If they were prepared for a larger
number, then they could have made some rewards cost more to lower the number of free ticket

The Theme Of The American Dream In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby has been called the great American novel. This novel reflects the theme of the
American Dream. To me, the American Dream would be classified as having a stable good
paying job, having your own family, as well as a good social life with no conflicts. Thomas
Jefferson believed that people are entitled to freely pursue joy and live life in a way that makes
you happy, as long as you don t do anything illegal or violate the rights of others. Thomas Jefferson
took the phrase pursuit of happiness from John Locke and incorporated it into his famous
statement of a peoples inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in the
Declaration of Independence. The American Dreams maps out everything a person would want
in their life which is why so many immigrants come to America. They believe life will be easier
and happier in America due to the myth that most people know of as the American Dream. This
novel tells about a unique American experience by showing a chain of events which stirs up
questions after questions and creates a ton of drama. People often think that the American Dream
consists of being happy all the time and living a happy successful life. Success is part of it but
there is no way you can be happy all the time without having something bother you or without
having problems. Americans as well as everyone else have difficulties in life. It isn t about
rainbows and swirls. This novel truly grasps the concept of a unique American

Effects Of Alcohol On Social Behavior
The presence of alcoholic beverages seems ubiquitous today, and it has been that way for
thousands of years. Nowadays, it can be found at sporting events, social gatherings, with meals, and
in many other environments. Alcohol is a psychoactive drug (it alters mood and potentially
consciousness) and is specifically classified as a depressant. Depressant drugs slow down the
nervous systemand physiological functioning while promoting a relaxing, drowsy feeling. In the
case of alcohol, these aforementioned effects typically arise when heavy doses of the drug are
consumed. In low to moderate doses, however, the opposite happens. The alcohol has a mood
elevating effect, along with many other physical and social symptoms that are associated with it.
This essay will discuss some of the effects that alcohol has on social behavior. First, the mechanism
of action alcohol has on the brainwill be explained, followed by paragraphs that discuss how
moderate amounts of alcohol influence social behavior, sexual behavior, and driving ability. The
fundamental basis for how alcohol effects the body starts at the neuronal level. A neuronis another
name for nerve cell. The human brain contains trillions of these nerve cells, which transmit
information to and from each other, and subsequently to the rest of the body. Neurons have
dendrites, which contain receptors that receive chemical messages from other nerve cells. These
receptors are influenced by chemicals called neurotransmitters, which

impact on construct validity as in some cases it is suggested that control subjects are compensated
in some way by healthcare staff or family for not receiving research intervention (Barker 2010).
Nurses who were blinded were employed to trace the ulcers. Participating patients were not blind
to the treatment/s. As one of the measured outcomes was patients perceptions of health, assessed
by a questionnaire (SF 12) it is reasonable to conceive that this assessment may have been
influenced by the patients awareness of the treatment type they were receiving thus creating the
possibility for assessment bias. Construct validity may also be impacted on peoples behaviours as
a response to being observed or to the treatment because they believe it will have a positive effect.
(Barker 2010)
Healing date was assessed remotely by independent assessors who where blind to the treatment
allocation this guards against assessment bias.
Overall both treatment groups were equal in size. Both treatment groups had an almost equal
average age of study participants, this is important because inequality in age between the groups
would represent a heterogeneous population (Barker 2010). Venous leg ulceration is more common

Lead Exposure Essay
Lead is a naturally occurring element we find in the earth crust, but even with its natural status, it
s highly dangerous to humans when exposed improperly. The reason I put lead as number one on
my list is because of its use in tons of mainstream products all throughout the world. Sure,
chlordane in pesticides is also a very harmful substance, but it s not used in as many common
products that led is. According to an article written by Dr. Edward Group, founder of the Global

Chloroform is a clear, natural occurring, sweet tasting liquid medal that can be extremely deadly.
Even though Chloroform is a natural occurring element, most chloroform is manmade.
Chloroform can be found in household cleaning products, swimming pools, and even in small
amounts in water. Chloroform can form by mixing alcohol and bleach, or just breaking down
any type of chlorine based substance ( How to Make Chloroform... ). Chloroform is ok if only
exposed to small amounts, but if over exposed to it the chemical can be extremely dangerous.
Some of the main ways people are exposed to chloroform is: contaminated water, household
cleaning products, and even swimming in a pool. The effects of chloroform vary based on how
it was exposed, how long it was exposed for, and individual health. Directly after being exposed
to chloroform through the air, some common side effects are: dizziness, feeling tired, and having
headaches. If expose for too long some much more severe impacts occur such as: cancer, kidney
failure, liver failure, and infections in blood flow ( Chloroform ). Chloroform isn t the most

Myasthenia Gravis Research Paper
Myasthenia gravis is considered an autoimmune disease because people who have it carry an
antibody called polyclonal that destroys the acetylcholine receptors (Neurology, 2013). These
antibodies destroy receptor sites in the neuromuscular junction faster than the body can produce
them. Usually antibodies protect the body from foreign invaders like bacteria and viruses, but in
the case of MG it attacks accessories that are required for muscle movement. In a study conducted
by Jon Lindstrom and Seybold Marjorie (1998), it was concluded that out of 71 patients with MG,
87 percent of them had a greater amount of antibodies for destroying acetlycholine receptors than

For example, anti acetylcholinesterase agents like Mestinon are available; these stop the
breakdown of acetlycholine allowing more to be created, letting more of it to be attached to
receptors (Product Information, 2005). Mesttinon and similar medications have been around for
almost fifty years, however they do cause nausea, muscle cramps and involuntary twitches. There is
also corticosteroids like prednisone which basically which reduce acetylcholine receptor antibody
(Treatment for MG, 2010). They are inexpensive but they may cause hypertension and diabetes
(Treatment for MG, 2010). Another major approach to treating myasthenia gravis is removing the
thymus gland. Between ten to fifteen percent of patients with MG have a tumor in this gland. The
relationship between myasthenia gravis and the thymus gland is still a topic under major study and
for the most part is unclear. However, some scientist say the thymus gland is what produces the
acetylcholine receptor antibodies. Over the years, patients with MG have gotten this thymus gland

My Dreams Of My Superpowers
Superpowers You can do anything that you set your mind to! This was a very common phrase
that my parents would say to me when my siblings and I were younger. Now at the age of 17 I
understand that it s supposed to inspire me to follow my dream. But that s not how the mind of
my five year old self translated it. At five years old I was more focused on playing with barbie
dolls and watching superhero movies. My favorite superhero was batman. He would always
make sure to save the day and get the bad guys. At five years old my dreams for my future were
nothing like they are now. They mostly revolved around having some type of special ability. I
wanted to have telekinesis which was no doubt inspired by watching Race to Witch Mountain.
Most of the movies that I watched at five years old had some type of main character who either
had a superpower or was a superhero. Most of my dreams were to be like them and have some
cool superpower that I could use. So when my parents kept telling me that I can do anything as
long as I try, I don t think they meant that I can have any superpower I want. Looking back on it
now, most of the time that my parents said that phrase was when I told them I couldn t do my
homework because it was too hard. They most likely meant for that saying to inspire me to work
hard and finish my homework. But at five years old I thought that if this phrase applies to
homework then why can t it apply to everything else, like gaining a superpower. My family and I

One of the most important steps in the fight against poverty around the world is the creation of

Before when I compared the ratios of this runner, I found that this runner will be a sprinter, but this
player is in the second standard deviation for the long distance runner and they are in the seventh
standard deviation for the sprinter. This runner s biceps are smaller for a sprinter because they
are in the first standard deviation for a long distance runner and they are in the third for a sprinter.
Also, this runner has smaller quads for a sprinter because they are in the third standard deviation
for a distance runner and in the fourth for a sprinter. So, basically this runner can be a sprinter
because they have the same ratios of a sprinter and plus if this runner goes to training and develops
muscles then could possibly come closer to the sprinters standard

A Express Transmission Project Receives Approval From...
TransWest Express Transmission Project receives approval from Nevada PUC General Interest The
Nevada Public Utilities Commission (PUC) granted approval for the $3 billion Trans West Express
project (TWEP). TWEP is a 725 mile 600 kilovolt transmission line carrying 3,000 megawatt of
mostly renewable energy. This project will help deliver high capacity renewable energy to larger
markets in the west, including utilities in Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming, and California. The
Department of Energy (DOE) Western Area Power Authority (WAPA) entered into a non binding
agreement with TransWest to procure a 50 percent equity stake in the transmission project. Under
the current non binding contractual agreement, TransWest Express, LLC and Western are jointly
developing and maintaining the transmission line. To protect wetlands and wildlife habitat, the
Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the DOE s Western Area Power Administration are
preparing an environmental impact statement under the National Environmental Policy Act for the
TransWest Express Transmission Project. Transwest officials estimate a large portion of the
proposed route is sited on federal land, which is mainly administered by the Bureau of Land
Management and U.S. Forest Service. Developers expect to start the construction in 2017 and
service it in 2020. Sites used: http://www.transwestexpress.net/news/briefs/030410 Western Area

Why Schools Are Not to Blame for Cyber Bullying Essay
A young boy was once sitting on his computer when he saw an email from one of his peers. He
opened the email, and soon enough realized he was being bullied. However, the young boy let the
cyber bullying get out of control. His parents told the school about it, but there was nothing they
could do. The boy had to go to a new school where he wouldn t be bullied. There are many
problems like this that get out of hand, so much that the school can do nothing to help. Many
people blame the school for not helping, when there is nothing they can do about it. Therefore,
schools do not have the responsibility to respond to and protect students from the challenge of
cyber bullying, even if it s off campus.

They said that students must learn themselves that they should not say something online that they
wouldn t say in person. For example, if a student calls someone ugly online, they probably wouldn t
say that in person. However, the school cannot do anything to stop this because they did it at
home. The school systems cannot be held responsible for things that students do at home, and they
should therefore, not be responsible to take action against cyber bullying.
Others would say that schools do have the responsibility to prevent bullying when the schools
helping to prevent bullying empowers students to face up to their bullies. However, this is not the
case.Students would not be empowered to stand up to their bullies if schools took responsibility
for the students. Instead of standing up to the bullies themselves, the students would probably try
to make the school take care of it. This goes to show that having the school take care of bullying
for the students, would not help the students learn how to take care of things on their own. For
example, if the students figured out that the school would take care of something for them, they
would not want to do things themselves. Most students would probably get lazy. Therefore, schools
should not be bound by law to take care of bullying because students would become lazy.
Lastly, schools do not have the responsibility to respond to the cyber bullying of their students is
because sometimes, students do not tell

Jerry Weintraub s American Dream
This is the story of Jerry Weintraub, a man who mastered the art of the schmooze and had an eye
for talent like none other. Jerry Weintraub spent over half of his life in show business earning
himself the reputation of Hollywood s smooth talker, deal maker, and show headliner. By
establishing legendary acts into mainstream media such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Led
Zeppelin, John Denver, Brad Pitt, and films such as The Karate Kid and Ocean s Eleven,
Weintraub catapulted himself to fame and riches by the age of 26. When I Stop Talking You ll

Soon enough, he worked his way up to being a producer and talent agent where he crossed paths
with the great Frank Sinatra. Sinatra was one of Weintraub s greatest act and takes up a large
section of this book. One story involves Sinatra drunk, incoherent, and ready to jump off the
Vegas casino until Jerry came up with an idea to for him to perform in Madison Square Garden
in a boxing ring. A wild idea at the time, but Jerry handled his depression in the best way he could
which was creating a show. This turned out to be his greatest concert. This particular anecdote
teaches a lesson of having a connection to your work and visualizing failure and turning it
around. Along came the highlight of Jerry s career and perhaps the greatest takeaway of When I

Monitoring Pickup Of School Children Essay
Abstract: It is time consuming task for parents to check the regular presence of the children in the
school. But this project of sending information to the parents whose children were absent from the
school through GSM in the form of SMS will give an easy, low cost and automatic solution. This
project presents a system to monitor pickup of school children to enhance the safety of children
during the daily transportation to school. The system consists of two main units, a busunit and a
school unit. The bus unit system is used to detect when a child boards the bus. This information is
communicated to the school unit that identifies which of the children did not board the bus and
issues an alert message accordingly. The system has a developed PC based database driven
application that facilities its management and provides useful information about the children to
authorized personal. A complete prototype of the proposed system was implemented and tested to
validate the system functionality. The results show that the system is promising for daily
transportation safety. The technology implemented here is aimed to detect the presence of a
particular student who enters into the school bus and by sensing the presence of student, this
information is passed to the school from where the absent students information is sent to the student
parent s mobile through GSM. This entire information is stored in the computer simultaneously.

Plea Bargains In Canadian Law ~ Karla Homolka
A plea bargain is a negotiation between the defendant and their attorney on one side, and the
crown prosecutor on the other side. A plea bargain may give the defendant a lightened sentence,
in exchange for either confessing to some crimes, or giving information that is related to the
offence, for example, the location of stolen goods or the names and locations of other
participants, as well as their part in the offence. There are many advantages to plea negotiations
/bargains. For instance, if there is not enough evidence against the defendant to convict them, a
plea bargain can help the crown obtain a conviction. They are also good for spending less time
and money on a trial in some cases. Lastly, because a plea bargain can help to... Show more content

A 911 call was placed shortly after midnight. When paramedics arrived, Tammy was
unresponsive. Paul and Karla claimed they had fallen asleep downstairs in the rec room and
were awakened by the sounds of Karla s 15 year old sister Tammy choking . Tammy was taken in
an ambulance to the hospital, and Karla s parents rode along with her. Karla, her sister Lori, and
Paul stayed at the house, and were questioned by a rookie who had been on the job for less than
two months, David Weeks. When Constable Weeks received confirmation from the hospital that
Tammy was pronounced dead, he had to share the news with the others. Lori became very upset
and rushed upstairs to phone her ex boyfriend. After checking on Lori to make sure she was okay,
Weeks went to check on Karla. When he found her, she was doing laundry in the basement,
shoving the blankets that Tammy had vomited on into the running washing machine. Weeks asked
her to stop, removed the blankets and lead her back to the couch for more questioning, where
Lori and Karla began hugging and crying. This was error number one. The fact that Karla was
trying to wash the blankets with Tammy s vomit on them, moments after she heard she had been
pronounced dead was extremely suspicious. Still, it was never investigated. She wasn t questioned
as to why she was washing them, and it was never recorded. This may be due to the fact that the
policeman on duty did not have enough experience in the field but it is still an error that could

Poetry Of Yeats s Poetry
Personally, I would have to strongly disagree with this statement as I find his poems interesting
and comprehensible. Right from the onset, Yeats became one of my favourite poets as I admire
his unique style and impressive language skills. I believe that his poems are a reflection of his
own life... An interesting and influential one that faced rejection from Maude Gonne, creating the
Abbey theatre in Dublin and winning the Nobel Prize for literature in 1923. I feel that he
captures a calm atmosphere in his nature poems using onomatopoeia and with a unique style
which draws me in as a reader. Yeats also portrays a powerful message in his political poems and
conveys his thoughts and emotions when he utilises clever similes coupled with alliteration or
assonance. The poems that I have studied are The Lake Isle of Innisfree , The Wild Swans at
Coole , An Irish Airman Foresees His Death , September 1913 and Sailing to Byzantium... Show

He uses repetition which creates emphasis on what he is trying to convey. This is evident when
he opens with the line I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree . Yeats flaunts his poetic skills
once more through a rhyming pattern at the end of every second line. made...glade , slow...glow
etc. Also, I feel that Yeats depicts the core theme of the poem through vibrant imagery. The Lake
Isle of Innisfree is about an island that he finds personal solace on in Lough Gill and he
remarkably conveys this through conjuring the most vivid images possible and paints a picture
for me. This is evident when he states There midnight s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow
and I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore . Therefore, I firmly believe that Yeats
unique yet simple style lucidly conveys the main theme of this poem

Analysis Of The Genocidal Killer In The Mirror
In the article, The Genocidal Killer in the Mirror, Crispin Sartwell focuses more on power and is
concerned with evil. Sartwell states that whether you believe you are among the evil people or
not, you are deeply malicious or a moral hero or just profoundly self deluded. He continues to
point out the timeline of all genocidal events that took place over 500 years, however, he doesn t
list all of the genocidal events during the current timeline. Theodore Dalrymple, the writer of Just
Do What the Pilot Tells You , argues that some people think a determined opposition to authority
is principled and romantic . However, Dalrymple maintains that in his experience as a doctor,
people who do not obey authority most of the time have unsuccessful relationships and a
tumultuous life. He also emphasizes this by asking a lady on an airplane if she believed in
authority, she states that she disagrees and that authority is restraining. He then challenges her by
asking if it would be all right if he went to the pilot and asked if he could fly the plane. The lady
refuses and states that he does not have the training to fly an aircraft. At this point, Dalrymple
predicaments that we gave the pilot authority to fly the aircraft through his training.
In The Genocidal Killer in the Mirror, Sartwell states that no problem is as profound and no evil
as prevalent as state power, but that furthermore, we all have the decisions to be deeply evil and
that no one should consider oneself too intelligent, humane, or pure. State power isn t evil because
we need laws and regulations to maintain civilization. Sometimes, authority feels as if they are
above the laws because of the status in society. Sartwell then asks, Are you a moral hero? He then
points at Difference in authority. This would be the state, the experts under normal situations. He
also points out, Do you believe what the authorities tell you just because they are authorities?
Although it is possible to see the authorities side before the person decides to follow their orders,
however, this could lead to chaos. In contrast, Just Do What the Pilot Tells You primarily focuses on
the danger contained in blind obedience. Dalrymple looks at Milgram s experiment

ecological and environmental factors alone are not responsible for the crisis in the region. There are

For overcoming the problem related to PDS one should give emphasis to universal public
distribution system as in other state of India such as Kerala, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu
instead of targeted public distribution system (TPDS). The reason is, in TPDS one has to target
the beneficiaries to find out who deserves BPL category and who deserves APL category and it
is in the process of targeting where the biasness and corruption starts. But when the distribution
system becomes universal means everyone is eligible corruption declines because it reduces the
power of authorities to do corruption through colluding and divergence and leakage of foodgrains
also decline manifold. Moreover, rich will be automatically excluded because he do not have
enough times to come to the ration shop, stand in line and wait for his turn to purchase the grain
but real poor can wait for its turn.
Since major portion of population in the region is rural and is dependent on agriculture in one way
or the other and when drought occurs their livelihood is severely hampered. Thus there must be
some substitute work so that the people can earn their livelihood. As far as industrialisation is
considered this region is the most poor though it is very rich in resource availability. In comparison

romantic phrases. He is trying to flirt with Juliet because he is in awe of her beauty.
Furthermore, Romeo sneaks back to the Capulet house and climbs up the balcony to talk to
Juliet. He exclaims that it is the east and Juliet is the sun arise fair sun and kill the envious moon

referencing her beauty to make the moon envious of her ( II II 1 2). He thinks that the beautiful
moon pales in comparison to Juliet s beauty. Romeo s use of metaphors and personification to

The Main Issue In This Article Is That The Education System
The main issue in this article is that the education system is failing to deliver valuable education
while promoting inequality among the student who can and can t afford an education. One of the
reasons for the poor quality of education is that students are not recognizing the importance of
knowledge. According to the article time use studies show that the time students spend in class or
studying has dropped from 40 hours a week in the 1920s to the 1960s to 27 hours a week now.
(source) This means that students are taking it easier in their educational system. Many employers
tend to not be interested in grades. They re main concern is if you have a degree to back up a

This becomes problematic because those able to afford an education have the opportunity to
progress leaving those who can t behind. Thatdoes not serve the Jeffersonian ideal of nurturing
the talents of the poor as well as the rich for the greater good of society . So the education system
has a divided soul; on one side it is an enterprise and on another side it is the means for students
to gain economic prosperity. People have overlooked the real importance of attending a university
that is to gain knowledge that can later be applied in order to achieve a certain outcome, such as
advanced performance in their career. ResponseFrom an early age, we see kids that don t want to
go to school anymore. They see school as a chore rather than a place for educational growth. Kids
at a very young age begin to lose interest in the education system which is why students at an
older age learn how to be passive learners instead of active learners. In passive learning, students
are temporary memorizing information to be used in a test. Once the test is completed they simply
forget the information. Their main concern is to ace the test and receive a passing grade. In active
learning, students are actually engaging in learning and retain all the information to gain
knowledge of the subject being taught. In order to better prepare kids for life, America should

because this person is my sister and I am starting to get the impression after a while people seem

St. Anselm s Ontological Argument
There are many proofs for the existence of God, but maybe none are as famous as St. Anselm s
Ontological argument. The Ontological argument is addressing God, as a prayer. Anselm analyzes
the very idea of God to prove that he exists. There are two versions of Anselm s Ontological
argument, and both attempt to show that God must exist. Despite the many critics that Anselm
faced including Guanilo, and St. Thomas Aquinas, the Ontological argumentcontinues to be one of
the most famous arguments for the existenceof God that provides support for those who believe in
God. In the first version of the Ontological argument, Anselm starts with the definition of God.
Anselm states that God is defined as that being in which nothing greater can be thought.... Show

This argument may seem sound, but it is not. You have to understand that God is that being in
which nothing greater can be thought to get Anselm s argument as shown by Thomas Aquinas.
Anselm failed to acknowledge that some people may not define God as that being in which
nothing greater can exist. Anselm just jumped from the idea of something to the reality of it.
The idea of God as the being which nothing greater can exist is sound, but it is not possible to
jump from this idea to the reality of God as that being. There is no proof that God is that being,
which makes Anselm s argument illogical. As Aquinas stated, you can t say something is self
evident based on the meaning of the terms involved. This again shows us why it is hard to use
logic to prove God s existence. The ontological argument will surely not convince an atheist that
God exists because it just fails to take their perspective on God. The ontological argument does
however provide some support to those who believe in God. In other words, the ontological
argument will strengthen the beliefs of a

  • 2. Examples Of Humanity s Sinful Nature And Edmund Pevensie Humanity s Sinful Nature and Edmund Pevensie Humanity is a beautiful force of nature, but just as an ocean in beautiful, it is also treacherous. Human nature is sinful in nature, No one has to teach a child to lie or be selfish; rather, we go to great lengths to teach children to tell the truth and put others first. Sinful behavior comes naturally. ( What is the sin nature? , 2017). C.S. Lewis wrote a series of books called The Chronicles of Narnia and in one of these named The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. C.S. Lewis weaves a wonderful tale about four children collectively called the Pevensie children who find a world unlike any other inside of a wardrobe. They meet the all powerful Lion, Aslan, that brings awe to their person. They hear about the White Witchwith all of her horrors, and Edmund (one of the children) even experiences her himself. The children even fight a battle against the forces of evil in their minds and physically on the battlefield leading to the thrones of Narnia. Through this grand story, C.S. Lewis wrote in a character very important to the ideas of human nature. Edmund was one of the Pevensie children and is used in C.S. Lewis s novel as a representation of humanity. C.S. Lewis presents Edmund as humanity through his foolish blindness to that which is sin, his pride and jealousy, and his fear of judgement. Edmund is already a foolish boy by the result of his sinful nature. C.S. Lewis shows us this in the book when he writes, He jumped in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On The Great Stupa Of Sanchi The Great Stupa, Sanchi One of the outstanding monuments in India, the Great Stupa, Sanchi, leaves a lasting impression on its visitors. It is found that its construction is started back in the 3rd century during Mauryan emperor Ashoka s regime and researchers believe that it is one of the most ancient stone structures Indiahas in its geographical boundary (Archaeological Survey of India). At the present time, it is in Sanchi town, situated in one of the India s states, Madhya Pradesh s Raisen district. This Buddhist pilgrimage attraction is not remained only as a tourist spot in India, but it has world s recognition as well. UNESCO has recognized its legacy and includes it in World heritage sitecategory. In truth, it is one of the marvel architectures in India, which depicts ancient Buddhist art and architecture, of which construction and amendments spans into several different centuries (third century BC to the twelfth century AD) (UNESCO World Heritage Centre, 1989). For example, the Great Stupa of Sanchi has surrounded by a balustrade reminiscent of Sun s circuit. Further, having 28 posts, harmika balustrade represents the number of nakshatras (Subhash, 2010). Likewise, its orientation is also kept in line with the center of the structure and assigning a vector to determine the exact East West line on the date of the Spring equinox. Further, talking about its symbolism, Stupa, it represents freedom from the birth death cycle, and while its dome represents world egg and Buddha s life and other Jataka stories epitomize Buddha himself. • 4. Look Up By Gary Turk I recently watched a video of a spoken word poetry entitled Look Up by Gary Turk, an award winning filmmaker and spoken word artist. The poem highlights the author, Gary Turk s criticism of society s overdependence and overuse of technology and social media. In his poetry, Turk cleverly uses a love story to further strengthen his opinion and the message he wants to convey to us. In my opinion, Turk makes some solid arguments that I agree with and does a good job in getting his point across, however, there is one point he brings up which I do not agree with. The first message I have deduced from the poem is that we should communicate with people in real life instead of just through social media. In the poem, Gary says when we open our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Look Up there is a line that says don t waste your life getting caught in the net, because when the end comes, there s nothing worse than regret . I thought Gary made a very smart play on the phrase caught in the net . It carries two meanings; getting addicted to the internet and social media and fishes getting caught physically in an actual net. Gary likens the former to the latter, effectively conveying his point that if you devote your whole life to the internet, you will not be able to appreciate the world in all its wonder and beauty. The internet can only satisfy you so much. There is so much more out there that we should experience that can not only make us happy, but can also contribute to our emotional and intellectual development as individuals. • 5. How The Diaspora Helped Violence Essay How the Diaspora helped Violence Having established the motives for the Diaspora aiding the nationalist, now it needs to be analyzed what the diaspora actually did to aid the nationalist movement. The aid can be broken down into three categories, financial, political and physical aid. The first and the biggest being financial aid and this type of aid was collected by members of the Irish Diaspora in the US then given to various different nationalist groups. Seldom was the money given to violent groups like the IRA but instead was given to other groups and in turn led to the purchasing of arms or goods and stuff like that which the IRA could use. One of the major organizations that did this was Noraid or Irish Northern Aid. The true purpose of Noraid dealt with arms smuggling and fund raising and thus were closely aligned and allied with the IRA(Brian Hanley 2004:1). The support for Noraid in terms of funding can be tracked in the same exact way that the general diasporatic support can be tracked. The hunger strikes of 1980 81, in which IRA prisoners staged a hunger strike to protest conditions in their prison in which a few of them died, was monumental in the history of Noraid because it led to not only an increase of donation which in turn were given to IRA and groups like it but it also changed the image of Noraid in the US. It led to an increase in membership and made the organization less radical which meant that it year by year would have generally more memberships and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Different History and Where I Come from Essay Elizabeth Brewster and Sujata Bhatt both suggest the significance of place in helping to shape a person s identity in their poems but they do it in different ways. Brewster suggests that places change our identity when she writes People are made of places . This shows that every different place we visit we take the memories and experiences that we had there and keep them in our minds and hearts forever. Whereas Bhatt suggests that when we go to a new place we forget who we previously were and change ourselves so that we fit in with the new culture that we are living in. We know this from when she says And how does it happen/ that after the torture . This shows the struggle to keep your cultural heritage when you move places. In A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Where I Come From Brewster uses the metaphor ice and the breaking of ice . This is to show that even though you are in a different place than you are used to you are ready to break the ice when meeting new people and having new experiences. Bhatt suggests that you bring the conventions to the country you move to from your old country and then you add to them from the things you learn in the new culture that you are living in. We know this because she says Great Pan is not dead . This also shows that your cultural heritage will never die as it will always be a part of you whether it s obvious or not. Elizabeth Brewster suggests that places change our identities when she says nature tidily plotted in little squares . This gives us the impression that everyone in the city is the same and they are all neat and tidy busybodies. This differs from what Bhatt suggests when she says Here, the gods roam freely, / disguised as snakes or monkeys . This shows that in India you can be whoever or whatever you want without being judged by anyone and you can be unique. However A Different History is similar to what Brewster is suggesting as Bhatt writes every tree is sacred . This shows that everything and everyone is equal and has the same rights as each other. Brewster shows that in her homeland everything is different because there are, battered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Theme of Death in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily Essay Theme of Death in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily is a tragic tale of a Southern aristocrat, Miss Emily Grierson, who is the subject of a town s obsession. The narrator, a member of the town, tells the story of what transpires in a decaying old Southern house that is always under the watchful eye of the townspeople. They witness Miss Emily s life, her father s death, her turn to insanity and the death of both her and her lover. The theme of death runs throughout this tale, which is understandable considering the events that take place in the story. Faulkner uses foreshadowing to foretell events that will transpire later in the story. Because of this foreshadowing, a reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This description of Emily s hair is important, because one of Emily s hairs will be found next to Homer s body, and it also shows how Emily is decaying like the house and items inside. Early in the story Emily writes a letter on stationary of an archaic shape and with fading ink . The references here are to the way she is always described growing older and decaying. Even Emily s house shares her short squat characteristic and coquettish decay . The insanity of Miss Emily is also foretold in A Rose for Emily. When the body of Homer is found in her bed, the reader can understand that Emily killed him, because her mental stability had been questioned a number of times. The narrator begins these allusions to her mental state when he tells how the mayor, Colonel Sartoris, bestows a special tax exemption upon Miss Emily. Colonel Sartoris makes up a story so unbelievable that it is described as so outlandish that only a woman could have believed it . Later, the townspeople talk about her great aunt, the lady Wyatt, who had gone completely crazy. They wonder about poor Emily with the insanity in her family. Her mental state comes into question again when the town removes the body of her father. She is said to have broke down and finally let them in to take and bury the body. This is an obvious analogy to her having a mental breakdown. This is followed with the statement that the townspeople did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Battle of Belleau Wood Essay In March 1918, with nearly 50 additional divisions freed by the Russian surrender on the Eastern Front, the German Army launched a series of attacks on the Western Front, hoping to defeat the Allies before U.S. forces could be fully deployed. In the north, the British 5th Army was virtually destroyed by two major offensive operations, Michael and Georgette around the Somme. A third offensive launched in May against the French between Soissons and Reims, known as the Third Battle of the Aisne, saw the Germans reach the north bank of the Marne river at ChГўteau Thierry, 95 kilometres (59 mi) from Paris, on 27 May. The Marines advanced in waves with bayonets fixed across an open wheat field that was swept with German machine gun and artillery fire, and many Marines were cut down.[9][10] Captain Crowther commanding the 67th Company was killed almost immediately. Captain Hamilton and the 49th Company fought from wood to wood, fighting the entrenched Germans and overrunning their objective by 6 yards (5.5 m). At this point, Hamilton had lost all five junior officers, while the 67th had only one commissioned officer alive. Hamilton reorganized the two companies, establishing strong points and a defensive line.[11] In the German counter attack, then Gunnery Sergeant Ernest A. Janson who was serving under the name Charles Hoffman repelled an advance of 12 German soldiers, killing two with his bayonet before the others fled; for this action he became the first Marine to receive the Medal of Honor in World War I. Importance Of Internet And Online Marketing Section 2 Literature review The purpose of literature review is to find what literature has to offer on how retailers in New Zealand and Australia use internet and online marketing to do business, and the barriers they face in doing so. It would also look into the way retailers retain their customers. 2.1 Importance of internet and online marketing to business Before one proceeds to explore the importance of internet and online marketing to business, it is important to understand how well New Zealand is connected with internet. New Zealand is in a very comfortable position to benefit from internet use. The physical internet infrastructure is growing and Government s ultra fast broadband and rural broadband programmes have made sure that high speed internet is available throughout the country. This could potentially lead New Zealand to have the best network infrastructure in the world, as evidenced by the use of internet by businesses throughout the country (Adams, 2013). Ninety six percent (96%) of firms are connected with internet. The economic performances of these firms depend on how well they use it. Apart from the availability of internet, it is vital to note the way businesses use internet by to improve the way they do business. In her essay Penelope as Moral Agent, Helene Foley attempts to discuss Penelope, a major character in Homer s the Odyssey, in terms of Classical Athenian portrayals of women and, as her title suggests, in terms of what she calls a moral agent. In her introductory paragraph she lays out guidelines as set down by Aristotle and his contemporaries that constitute a moral agent: the character must make an ethical and moral decisionon which the actions turns...without critical knowledge of the circumstances (Foley 93). To this end, Foley ultimately decides that Penelope meets these standards and adds that her social, familial and personal responsibilities play integral roles in making that decision. Foley s examples and her in depth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Direct connections she makes between the Odyssey and the outside texts are nominal. She neglects to explain why she would compare Penelope to Aristotle s ideas on the woman s role in society, or in what respect the biological findings of Hippocrates could have possibly have influenced or been influenced by Homer s epic. The only hint the reader is exposed to is when, on page 94 she asks, To what degree does the world of the Odyssey prefigure popular Classical Athenian assumptions about women as moral agents? The keyword here is prefigure and it indicates to me that Homer wrote before the classical writers that Foley uses as her basis of understanding the term moral agent. That the reader must figure that out based on one word out of a twenty page essay instead of being exposed to at least a small discussion of the chronology of when the authors and philosophers in question lived and wrote also detracts from the essay as a whole. Because Foley is trying to establish a framework based on historical and cultural ideas, that framework must be imbedded in a sufficient understanding of history itself in order to validate its meaning. In addition, I cannot but be aware of the fact that there is little direct comparison between Homer s epic poem and the outside works Foley uses, and especially by Aristotle. In fact, whenever she does make a direct comparison is when she discounts the relevance of the outside source. One of the few times the philosophies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although scienceand religion seem like two diverse topics, the two methods of explanation are more alike than one would think, and both of these things together complement each other to give us our modern technology and how we as a society should use it. With the education provided by the catholic church, the people started to question things in their environment. They also started pursuing answers to their questions away from text. It was the curiosity of the common folk and the opportunity the Catholic Church gave the common folk that helped to re birth science in Europe. The Dual Alliance between Austria Hungary and the German Empire in 1879 ensured a promise of mutual defense if either side was attacked by Russia, and neutrality if attacked by any other nation. Italy joined the Dual Alliance in 1882 forming the Triple Alliance or central powers. Additionally, France formed an alliance with Russia in 1894 and an entente cordiale, or friendship with Britain in 1904. Subsequently, Britain formed an entente with Russia in 1907, effectively forming the Triple Entente. This relationship further exacerbated German fears of encirclement and left if facing a war on two fronts if it attacked or was attacked by one of the members of the Entente. The nations involved perceived these alliances as a form of protection and a deterrent to war. However, as predicted by the spiral mode, it only further increased concerns and decreased trust amongst the belligerents. Additionally, the alliances united the nations together so that, if one country went to war, the others were obligated to honor the alliance and join their partners in war (Tuchman). Thomas Jefferson took the phrase pursuit of happiness from John Locke and incorporated it into his famous statement of a peoples inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in the Declaration of Independence. The American Dreams maps out everything a person would want in their life which is why so many immigrants come to America. They believe life will be easier and happier in America due to the myth that most people know of as the American Dream. This novel tells about a unique American experience by showing a chain of events which stirs up questions after questions and creates a ton of drama. People often think that the American Dream consists of being happy all the time and living a happy successful life. Success is part of it but there is no way you can be happy all the time without having something bother you or without having problems. Americans as well as everyone else have difficulties in life. • 30. Effects Of Alcohol On Social Behavior The presence of alcoholic beverages seems ubiquitous today, and it has been that way for thousands of years. Nowadays, it can be found at sporting events, social gatherings, with meals, and in many other environments. Alcohol is a psychoactive drug (it alters mood and potentially consciousness) and is specifically classified as a depressant. Depressant drugs slow down the nervous systemand physiological functioning while promoting a relaxing, drowsy feeling. In the case of alcohol, these aforementioned effects typically arise when heavy doses of the drug are consumed. In low to moderate doses, however, the opposite happens. The alcohol has a mood elevating effect, along with many other physical and social symptoms that are associated with it. This essay will discuss some of the effects that alcohol has on social behavior. First, the mechanism of action alcohol has on the brainwill be explained, followed by paragraphs that discuss how moderate amounts of alcohol influence social behavior, sexual behavior, and driving ability. The fundamental basis for how alcohol effects the body starts at the neuronal level. A neuronis another name for nerve cell. The human brain contains trillions of these nerve cells, which transmit information to and from each other, and subsequently to the rest of the body. Neurons have dendrites, which contain receptors that receive chemical messages from other nerve cells. These receptors are influenced by chemicals called neurotransmitters, which ... Nurses who were blinded were employed to trace the ulcers. Participating patients were not blind to the treatment/s. As one of the measured outcomes was patients perceptions of health, assessed by a questionnaire (SF 12) it is reasonable to conceive that this assessment may have been influenced by the patients awareness of the treatment type they were receiving thus creating the possibility for assessment bias. Construct validity may also be impacted on peoples behaviours as a response to being observed or to the treatment because they believe it will have a positive effect. (Barker 2010) Healing date was assessed remotely by independent assessors who where blind to the treatment allocation this guards against assessment bias. Overall both treatment groups were equal in size. Both treatment groups had an almost equal average age of study participants, this is important because inequality in age between the groups would represent a heterogeneous population (Barker 2010). Myasthenia Gravis Research Paper Myasthenia gravis is considered an autoimmune disease because people who have it carry an antibody called polyclonal that destroys the acetylcholine receptors (Neurology, 2013). Usually antibodies protect the body from foreign invaders like bacteria and viruses, but in the case of MG it attacks accessories that are required for muscle movement. In a study conducted by Jon Lindstrom and Seybold Marjorie (1998), it was concluded that out of 71 patients with MG, 87 percent of them had a greater amount of antibodies for destroying acetlycholine receptors than normal (Lindstrom Marjorie, 1998). Now at the age of 17 I understand that it s supposed to inspire me to follow my dream. But that s not how the mind of my five year old self translated it. At five years old I was more focused on playing with barbie dolls and watching superhero movies. My favorite superhero was batman. He would always make sure to save the day and get the bad guys. At five years old my dreams for my future were nothing like they are now. They mostly revolved around having some type of special ability. I wanted to have telekinesis which was no doubt inspired by watching Race to Witch Mountain. Most of the movies that I watched at five years old had some type of main character who either had a superpower or was a superhero. • 46. Analysis Of The Genocidal Killer In The Mirror In the article, The Genocidal Killer in the Mirror, Crispin Sartwell focuses more on power and is concerned with evil. Sartwell states that whether you believe you are among the evil people or not, you are deeply malicious or a moral hero or just profoundly self deluded. He continues to point out the timeline of all genocidal events that took place over 500 years, however, he doesn t list all of the genocidal events during the current timeline. Theodore Dalrymple, the writer of Just Do What the Pilot Tells You , argues that some people think a determined opposition to authority is principled and romantic . However, Dalrymple maintains that in his experience as a doctor, people who do not obey authority most of the time have unsuccessful relationships and a tumultuous life. He also emphasizes this by asking a lady on an airplane if she believed in authority, she states that she disagrees and that authority is restraining. He then challenges her by asking if it would be all right if he went to the pilot and asked if he could fly the plane. The lady refuses and states that he does not have the training to fly an aircraft. At this point, Dalrymple predicaments that we gave the pilot authority to fly the aircraft through his training. In The Genocidal Killer in the Mirror, Sartwell states that no problem is as profound and no evil as prevalent as state power, but that furthermore, we all have the decisions to be deeply evil and that no one should consider oneself too intelligent, humane, or pure. State power isn t evil because we need laws and regulations to maintain civilization. Sometimes, authority feels as if they are above the laws because of the status in society. Sartwell then asks, Are you a moral hero? He then points at Difference in authority. This would be the state, the experts under normal situations. He also points out, Do you believe what the authorities tell you just because they are authorities? Although it is possible to see the authorities side before the person decides to follow their orders, however, this could lead to chaos. In contrast, Just Do What the Pilot Tells You primarily focuses on the danger contained in blind obedience. Dalrymple looks at Milgram s experiment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. The Main Issue In This Article Is That The Education System The main issue in this article is that the education system is failing to deliver valuable education while promoting inequality among the student who can and can t afford an education. One of the reasons for the poor quality of education is that students are not recognizing the importance of knowledge. According to the article time use studies show that the time students spend in class or studying has dropped from 40 hours a week in the 1920s to the 1960s to 27 hours a week now. (source) This means that students are taking it easier in their educational system. Many employers tend to not be interested in grades. They re main concern is if you have a degree to back up a pretentious education. With this easy access to jobs, graduates are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This becomes problematic because those able to afford an education have the opportunity to progress leaving those who can t behind. Thatdoes not serve the Jeffersonian ideal of nurturing the talents of the poor as well as the rich for the greater good of society . So the education system has a divided soul; on one side it is an enterprise and on another side it is the means for students to gain economic prosperity. People have overlooked the real importance of attending a university that is to gain knowledge that can later be applied in order to achieve a certain outcome, such as advanced performance in their career. ResponseFrom an early age, we see kids that don t want to go to school anymore. They see school as a chore rather than a place for educational growth. Kids at a very young age begin to lose interest in the education system which is why students at an older age learn how to be passive learners instead of active learners. In passive learning, students are temporary memorizing information to be used in a test. Once the test is completed they simply forget the information. Their main concern is to ace the test and receive a passing grade. In active learning, students are actually engaging in learning and retain all the information to gain knowledge of the subject being taught. In order to better prepare kids for life, America should establish a ... But the people I decided to interview were women who I knew were college educated and worked in three different type of career fields. Furthermore I decided to interview all women and in particularly I interviewed a women who worked for the government, a womanin the medical field, and finally a college professor. The reason I picked these particular ladies because I knew I would get three different answers but also the same answer for how it corresponds with their careers. When conducting the first interview which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well when the interview started out she didn t know what feminism was as well but what she though it was included the lifestyle of women and gender equality. My second interviewee answer was yes she qualifies herself as a feminist and she for anything that is for the empowering of women and anything that will push them forward. She believes that women over the years have been a pillar towards men and women are starting to dominate fields that were originally for men especially in the hospital. Well from this interview the answers didn t surprise me as well because this person is my sister and I am starting to get the impression after a while people seem to forget about the aspects of feminism and what actually is going on. But moving on to the last interview with a Professor at BG. The reason I choose this women in particular because she also is a women studies teacher and I wanted to get her opinion and how she felt about this. I didn t experience anything bad from this professor as always she answered the questions thoroughly and gave me some great answers. Well previously having a class with this teacher I knew she was a feminist just by the topics we used to talk about and how she expressed her feelings towards it. Out of all the interviews I had I do agree with what everyone has been saying and how it relates to my own personal opinion about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. St. Anselm s Ontological Argument There are many proofs for the existence of God, but maybe none are as famous as St. Anselm s Ontological argument. The Ontological argument is addressing God, as a prayer. Anselm analyzes the very idea of God to prove that he exists. There are two versions of Anselm s Ontological argument, and both attempt to show that God must exist. Despite the many critics that Anselm faced including Guanilo, and St. Thomas Aquinas, the Ontological argumentcontinues to be one of the most famous arguments for the existenceof God that provides support for those who believe in God. In the first version of the Ontological argument, Anselm starts with the definition of God. Anselm states that God is defined as that being in which nothing greater can be thought.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This argument may seem sound, but it is not. You have to understand that God is that being in which nothing greater can be thought to get Anselm s argument as shown by Thomas Aquinas. Anselm failed to acknowledge that some people may not define God as that being in which nothing greater can exist. Anselm just jumped from the idea of something to the reality of it. The idea of God as the being which nothing greater can exist is sound, but it is not possible to jump from this idea to the reality of God as that being. There is no proof that God is that being, which makes Anselm s argument illogical. As Aquinas stated, you can t say something is self evident based on the meaning of the terms involved. This again shows us why it is hard to use logic to prove God s existence. The ontological argument will surely not convince an atheist that God exists because it just fails to take their perspective on God. The ontological argument does however provide some support to those who believe in God. In other words, the ontological argument will strengthen the beliefs of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
