Why The Nurse Interacts With A Family Managing A Chronic...
There are many factors to consider when the nurse interacts with a family managing a chronic
illness. The nurse must consider the structure of the family and how they interact while also
identifying how the family and individual with the chronic condition, manage their condition. They
must identify any risk factors that may impede their ability to manage their chroniccondition or
protective factors that improve their abilities to self manage. An analysis of the developmental
stage the family or individual along with the stage of illness they are experiencing is necessary to
successfully build relationships and help guide the family through chronic illness management.
Commendation of the family s efforts and abilities to manage difficult situations revolving around
illness may enhance the family s confidence and improve self management (Wright and Leahey,
2013). These components will be explored and discussed regarding the family structure of two
sisters, R.C. and J.A. R.C. has Marfan syndromeand J.A. is an active participant in helping her sister
manage her condition. This family structure will be discussed in relationship to their family
management style, their individual and family risk factors, and their management of R.C. s chronic
condition. Contextual components will include the lifestyle stage as defined by Wright and Leahey
(2013), and the phase of chronic illness and its developmental challenges as outline by Rolland
(2005). This information was collected during

Transcendence and Technology in William Gibson s Neuromancer
Transcendence and Technology in Neuromancer
Where do we go from here? Case asks near the conclusion of William Gibson s novel Neuromancer
(259). One answer suggested throughout most of the narrative is nowhere. True, geographically we
are whisked around the urban centers of Earth in the near future, Chiba City, the Sprawl, Istanbul,
and then to the orbital pleasure domes and corporate stronghold of Freeside and Straylight. The
kind of movement to which I am referring is not overtly physical, though. Neuromancer articulates
a motion inward, its attention focused upon subtle interiors; it is implosive rather than expansive,
choosing to examine how technology affects the universe of self, individual consciousness, rather
than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this increasingly sophisticated technology, with the ability to remake the world and ourselves,
Case s question resonates self consciously: where do we go from here? Neuromancer presents
technology in an accelerating culture as a potent force capable of facilitating escape, immersion,
destruction, and even transcendence of self without glamorizing or demonizing technology itself.
Perhaps, in this manner, Gibson is able to posit more than one viable answer to this paralyzing
(peculiarly postmodern) question.
As the gap between present and future grows smaller and becomes difficult to discern, people and
machines overlap and, in some cases, are indistinct or interchangeable. If we move even twenty
minutes into the future (a la Max Headroom [1985]), as Larry McCaffrey states, we will encounter
a world...unimaginably transformed... (9). In this environment, where whole bodies of technique
are supplanted monthly , the soft flesh of the human body becomes a deliberately unsupervised
playground for technology itself (Neuromancer 4,11). Some cybernetic implants, Molly s
mirrorshaded eyes, her retractable razor claws, the brain sockets built to accept microsofts, software
allowing instant access to and mastery of entire worlds of knowledge and skills, offer the promise
of heightened, seemingly superhuman, physical and/or mental abilities. Such prosthetics seek to

Examples Of Sorrow In The Odyssey
Can you know true happiness without knowing sorrow? Happiness is a subjective emotion. Some
people say they cannot be happy without first experiencing bad things. I do not think this is entirely
true. Babies know happiness when they get to play with their favorite toy or when they see
something new that excites them. Now some might argue that babies have experienced sorrow or
unhappiness when they are crying however, I think their short attention span makes them forget
sorrow much easier than happiness.
When you apply this concept to adults like Odysseus things become slightly different, he has
experienced a lot of sorrow in his life and his definition of happiness is probably very different
than mine; I do not think finally making it back to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes it can be their wife or another man. If Odysseus had left a regent king in charge for
ten years during the Trojan War and for another ten after it ended and he was wandering the
likelihood that the regent king had not taken over is highly unlikely they would have waited
around for that much time for Odysseus. Now since The Odyssey does not mention one He
does not specifically have to worry about this problem however, he has to worry about someone
seizing his throne. Telemachus is around twenty or twenty one years of age now, having not
known his father it is surprising he has not been appointed to king yet or killed by the suitors so
they can be king. Telemachus could also turn on his father, remember he has never known him
and does not have a bond with him, so he could be king. Before Telemachus went on his journey
he was very timid but after his journey he became brave (Homer ). People change can change so
much in twenty years that even Penelope, who has been faithful to Odysseus the whole time, might
not be the same. Everything Odysseus knows could be

Economic Reforms Of Alexander Hamilton
There were many important people in America s early years after the Revolutionary War. Many
people would argue that George Washington or James Madison may be the most important person
in the 15 years following the Revolutionary War, but there is one person who often gets
overlooked. The most important person from America s beginning years as a country is Alexander
Hamilton because of his economic reforms, his compromise with James Madison and Thomas
Jefferson, and his encouragement of manufacturing. Alexander Hamilton was very influential in
America s early years. He was known for his capitalistic views for America. He wanted America to
become a thriving country full of trade, banking, finance, investment, manufacturing, and
commercial cities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
James Madison was one of his allies while they were trying to ratify the constitution, but after
James Madison opposed him because of how he assumed the state debts. Madison started a
fierce debate in Congress over this issue because the southern states had paid off more of their
debts than the northern states. His state assumption plan was not passed in Congress, but he did
not give up. He invited Thomas Jefferson and James Madison to dinner in New York City. He
worked to meet a compromise with them within just a night together, and he succeeded. Their
famous compromise decided that the capital would be moved from New York City to
Philadelphia, after this the new capital would be built on a federal district between Maryland and
Virginia, and Hamilton got the votes he needed for his debt assumption plan. This compromise
shows us how persuasive he is. He was also very persuasive when he tried to turn America into an

Lomu Speech
Jonah Lomu Speech
To be a giant of a man, to have an enormous heart and to be an inspiration to all that he meets;
Jonah Lomu is a true leader among men.
A New Zealander of Tongan decent Jonah was born on the 12 May 1975 and grew up in the tough
suburbs of South Auckland where he could have ended up in serious trouble if he hadn t been given
the discipline, academic focus and sporting opportunities that he received while attending Wesley
College. At College Jonah s sporting talents became very obvious, he smashed many athletic
records and despite his large size he has blistering pace; covering 100 meters in 10.8 sec, which
would even be a very respectable time next to Usan Bolts world record of 9.58. He played rugby

The immense contribution Jonah has made to rugby through his career by his 100%
commitment on the field; to his sportsmanship and support of others is something to be admired,
and since his retirement Jonah has become the Ambassador for UNICEF and many other
charities. As well as becoming a member of the Champions for Peace club (a group of 54 elite
athletes committed to serving peace in the world through sport). Jonah also takes on many public
speaking and mentoring roles and in 2007 was awarded The Member of the Order of New Zealand
for his services to Rugby an award well deserved.
Finally Jonah underwent a kidney transplant in Auckland hospital. But he didn t let that hold
him back from reaching his dream of being able to play the game he loves so much, and in 2005
Jonah played his rugby comeback game in England and signed a deal with French Club
Marseilles in 2009. As well as the many charities and mentoring Jonah in is involved in he is

Strip Mining Essay
Some may say the best way to mine is by strip mining some may not agree to this, until you have
lived near an area that has been completely destroyed due to this you would never understand. It
is so hard to see such a breath taking view that once was part of your home taken away from you.
You may think over time all of the tree and all of the animals that lived in this area will come
back, but that is not always the case. Many may say due to living in West Virginia
we depend on coal

more jobs to become available, but are the effects from this truly worth it? What brings so much

In Kanawah County in January of 2014 a river got polluted with chemicals used from strip
mining this caused many residents to be out of water for weeks. This incident caused such a big
catastrophe that the stores in the southern part of the state began to run out of drinking water due
to being the only resource the residents had for water at that time. The easiest way coal mining
chemicals get into our water ways is when the soak into the ground and the rain washes it down
hill into our water ways. There have been many lawsuits in West Virginia over the type of incidents
that happened in January in 2014, but the coal companies still continue to do so just getting away
with a fine and a slap on the wrist.
Coal mining is a great resource for our state, but it comes with dangerous side effects. The
companies come into our state and start destroying everything because all they worry about is the
paycheck they are going to get. What many do not realize is what helps our state in so many
ways hurts us in more ways than what it helps. This proves to be true with all of the effects strip
mining has and all of the accidents caused by the coal companies in the past. What helps our
residents in our state make a living day to day also causes the place we know and love to be
destroyed, causes major flooding issues, and can also pollute our water

The Matter Of Gun Control
The matter of gun control has become an increasingly controversial issue. Whenever, a nationalized
tragedy ensues that involves gun violence, the question on what to accomplish regarding America s
gun control takes center stage. While exploring this topic, this essay will attempt to discuss the
circumstances that prohibit a person from possessing firearms, also regulations to prevent these
persons from possessing firearms. Upon reflecting on the personal side of the gun control debate,
stricter gun control begins to infringe upon our rights, as citizens and they should concentrate on
enforcing the current laws in the books, instead of making additional laws.
Furthermore, gun control indisputably is a concern that subjectively has effected ... Show more

Furthermore, Federal Firearms Act of 1938 brought about congress directing a law involving the
selling and shipping of firearms within interstate or foreign retail networks. Nonetheless, after the
assassination of President Kennedy the 1968 Gun Control Act was enacted, which tightens
legislation on the sales of mail order guns. Moreover, beginning in 1972 was the establishment of
the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms. Facilitating restrictions on gun sellers and the selling
of some guns, was the 1986 Firearms Owners Protection Act. Eventually, establishing a policy for
drug free school zones was the 1990 Crime Control Act, which was inclusive on criminal
penalization for possessing or discharging a firearm in a school zone. Next, implementing a five
day waiting period and background check, 1993 brought about the Brady Bill, which was modified
in 1998 to sanction checks to be performed over the phone or electronically with the findings

Colorado voters recall pro gun control state senators, Democrats John Morse and Angela Giron for

Zaroff The Interlopers
Two people can be similar in many ways, but they may not know this. Sometimes the two people
don t even know each other. Two people wrote two different short stories about two characters that
went through different things but were a lot alike. In Richard Connell s short story The Most
Dangerous Game and Saki s short story The Interlopers, the main characters General Zaroff and
Ulrich von Gradwitz are alike in the following ways: both men hunted on their own land, both men
hunted humans, and both men died. Out of all the places in the world both men choose to hunt on
their own land. Their own backyards, this was the best place for both of these men to hunt. It was
secluded and no one would trespass and stumble upon them hunting.... Show more content on

Zaroff did this for the thrill and challenge of it, because animals were not enough of a challenge
for him. Ulrich did this because he was hunting a lifelong enemy, whose family has been an enemy
of Ulrich s family for many generations. Both men aimed to kill the humans on their land, whether
for fun or for a lifelong feud. Ulrich and Zaroff were hunters and the other humans were prey.
Neither man feared the consequences, for they both thought they would never be caught. In a
way they were right, they were never caught by the police or others. But this was because both
were killed. Zaroff was killed by one of the humans he hunted, but failed to kill. Ulrich was killed
by wolves along with his enemy Georg, this was right after they had decided to end the fued and
become friends. Neither man was caught but both men suffered in death. In conclusion, two people
can be a lot alike, even if they don t know each other. Both men had many things in common even
though they went through different situations. If Ulrich and Zaroff had known each other they
may have worked together and been unstoppable. Both men suffered in the end and no one knew
what they had been doing, and the few that did know were dead. This shows that what goes around
comes around and that bad people get punished for what they do even if no one knows

Essay about Sterling Seagrave s Dragon Lady
Empress Dowager Tzu His Exposed in Sterling Seagrave s Dragon Lady
China s great ancient empire has been the source of stories, fables, and fascination throughout the
world for generations. The Asian culture has a long history of powerful leaders and ruthless battles
making it one of the longest standing powers that the world has ever known. Yet, what took
centuries to create was destroyed during the reign of a single ruler, plunging the country into chaos
and confusion. The one who often is believed to have generated this collapse is the Empress
Dowager Tzu His, the last Empress of China.
Until the end of her reign in the early 1900s, the life of the Empress was shrouded in mystery.
Once people gained access to the court ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many took Blackhouse s reports at face value and it was not until later that people began to
question the truth about China s last royal leader.
The book Dragon Lady, by Sterling Seagrave, is more than just a biography of the Empress
Dowager Tzu Hsi; it is a complex analysis of how the actions of royalty and politics played into
China s most trying times of modernization. Seagrave eliminates the myths and false stories about
the Empress, using facts from multiple sources to provide a realistic story, which sets the stage for
the reform period of China.
Seagrave does an excellent job not only of writing about the life of the Empress Dowager, but also
explaining the issues surrounding China at the time of the Empress reign. Detailed explanations
about the turmoil amongst the other members of the royal court, Western invasion and the Boxer
rebellion are carefully analyzed to distinguish truth from fiction in hopes of revealing the true story
of Tzu Hsi and eliminating the myths that surround the ruler.
John H. Boyle, of California State University, writes in The Library Journal a raving review of
Dragon Lady saying:
The Dowager Empress Tzu Hsi, ruling from behind the silk curtain, held extraordinary power
during the last decades of China s tottering empire. Her name has always been linked with

Influence Of English In The Japanese Language
2. English in the Japanese language
2.1. Adaption and Integration: Influence of English on Japanese Language Use
It has been many years since English was first introduced to Japanese society. In the progress of the
19th, 20th and 21st century, the English language was a continuous but varying influence on the
Japanese language and its culture. The result of this centuries long process is a Japanese language
that contains more than its fair share of English loanwords.
Although most Japanese people, even those of older age, are familiar with a lot of English
loanwords, this does not necessarily mean they are familiar with English. In my personal

These words, which are taken from English and used functionally in Japanese conversation
primarily by native speakers, often have an already existing, possible common Japanese
equivalent. Therefore, these loanwords could be considered redundant and quite double to an
outsider. However, in certain situations, the English word is greatly preferred, whereas the
Japanese word would stand out strangely, for reasons which will be thoroughly discussed in this
section. These English loanwords in Japanese language have been dubbed double loanwords , for
the sake of creating an understandable and clear term, specifically for this paper.
Notably, there are two domains where these double loanwords appear in Japanese speech; fashion
and food. These domains are not coincidental, as both have been heavily influenced by foreign
culture. Japanese fashion and Japanese Western style cuisine, or youshoku жґ‹йЈџ, are inspired
largely by their French, English and American equivalents. Although these Japanese styles do
originate in Western influence, they have been made their own by the Japanese fashion industry

Theories Surrounding The RMS Titanic
The RMS Titanic is a passenger liner that sunk in the North Atlantic in 1912 after hitting an
iceberg. About 1,500 of the estimated 2,224 passengers died. The ship sailed full speed despite
ice warnings, preventing it from stopping or steering away from the berg. Watertight
compartments flooded, causing Titanic to go under. These details are supported by accounts and
physical evidence, and therefore, widely accepted as truth. However, there s a few alternative
conspiracy and architectural theories. The most notorious theory is by author Robin Gardiner,
who posited Titanic was actually its sister ship, Olympic. In an accident report, Olympic was
found responsible for a 1911 collision with the HMS Hawke. Consequently, the insurers wouldn t
cover the damages, and Titanic s debut was delayed. Gardiner suggests that to ensure financial
gains from at least one running liner, Olympic was patched up and renovated to pose as Titanic.
The two ships were very similar in design, with minor external and moderate internal differences.
Both also had linoleum floors, which a managing director demanded be covered on the alleged
Titanic at the last minute.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some Titanic survivors testified to detecting a tilt. There were multiple issues with structure
proficiency supposedly, so improper cargo and bunker trimming could ve caused a lean.

but they were deemed manipulated because of their clarity. All other images don t indicate
underlying lettering. Highlighting Olympic s two day sea trial at full speed, Gardiner asserts the
propped Titanic had only one day at half speed. Given the similarities of the ships, a complete trial

sexual education is a form of sexual education that teaches students about reproduction health,

Physical Geography of Michigan Kalamazoo, Michigan has been around officially around since the
eighteen thirties. It has long since a agricultural producer and has been growing steadily throughout

geological history, glacial formations, streams, wind landforms, groundwater, climate, soil,
vegetation, agriculture, tourism, and a small summary of the community of the area of
Kalamazoo. For the first paragraph we shall have a quick focus on the geological history of the
area of Kalamazoo. The main deposits and formations of the Kalamazoo area where formed
during the Wisconsin glaciation period. Now the deposits are actually due to two lobes during
this period, the lobes are the Lake Michigan and Saginaw lobe. Kalamazoo is actually know as a
reentrant district due to the presence of two different lobes materials. During the middle of the
Wisconsin Ice Age the Lake Michigan lobe was extending southeastward, while the Saginaw lobe
was extending southwest. With the meeting of the two lobes an interlobate developed between the
terminals of the lobes. It is also thought that the two lobes overlapped each other. With the
Saginaw lobe covering the Kalamazoo area first and then retreating while the Lake Michigan lobe
then covered the area. There are also some bedrock formations in the area as well, these formations

What Are The Five Major Functions That A Load Balancer...
By definition load balancing means the ability to spread the load of processing for an application
over a number of separate systems for an overall performance increase in processing in coming
requests. This seems very simple and conceptual very easy to think about the process; just splitting
up the load helps it get done faster. But although this concept may seem simple enough, there are
many factors that can add heavy levels of complexity. For example, anyone who has ever managed
large groups of people in the Army can attest to that.
There are five major functions that a load balancer performs:
Intercepts network based traffic (such as web traffic) destined for a site.
Splits the traffic into individual requests and decides which ... Show more content on

When servers were pushed to their limits the initial thought process was to beef up the system
such as adding more ram, upping the processor, and increasing the storage space. However these
measure only took the scaling so far. At some point, you would have again maxed out all the
hardware platform and its capability. Also beefing up the server meant substantial down time and in
the exploding world of commerce that was not a viable option.
Before Server Load Balancing was a technology or a viable product, site administrators would and
employ a load balancing process known as a DNS round robin. DNS round robin uses a function of
DNS that allows more than one IP address to associate with a host name. Every DNS entry has
what is known as an A record, which maps a hostname, such as www.example.com to an IP
address, such as 111.222.333.444. Usually only one IP address is given to a hostname. With
DNS round robin, it is possible to give multiple IP addresses to a host name distributing traffic
more or less evenly to listed IP addresses. For instance, let s say you had three web servers with
IP addresses of 111.222.333.444, 111.222.333.445, and 111.222.333.446 that we wanted to share
the load for the site www.example.com. The end result is that the traffic destined for

Washington wasn t always such a great leader. During the French and Indian War, Washington made
a lot of mistakes such as his horrible embarrassment in result of the assassination of French
Diplomat Jumonville. When the musket smoke cleared, Ensign Joseph Coulon de Jumonville lay
wounded, trying to explain to Washington that he was on a diplomatic mission. Before surrender
was declared, Tanaghrisson struck the ambassador dead with a tomahawk to the head. Anticipating
French retaliation, the young Virginian withdrew a few miles to a large meadow, where he hastily
built a small, crude stockade and named it Fort Necessity. Here, Washington suffered his first and
most humiliating defeat by French reinforcements on July 3, 1754. Washington signed the
surrender document, which was written in French, and unknowingly accepted responsibility for the
ambassador s death. The French published the document in major European capitals. (Clash of

his former mistakes to be victorious. This helped him to become a much better leader.

things. In Jordan s quote, he talks about roadblocks and how people should overcome them. In this
instance ADHD is the roadblock and medication is the way around it. Those who have ADHD
should be medicated because the stigma of the disorder and medication continues to lessen with
time and information, the positives of taking medication outweigh the negatives, the selection of
medications is becoming more varied, and it allows the patient to advance in school and their
careers. Many people are against medication due to ignorance, when all they need is a better
understanding of the effects of it. The number of patients diagnosed with ADHD taking medication

The Change Of Corporate Dividend Policy
There have also been significant changes in corporate payout policy over this period.
According to the Constant payout ratio, a firm will pay a fixed dividend rate e.g. 40% of
earnings. The dividend per share would therefore fluctuate as the earnings per share changes.
Dividends are directly dependent on the firm s earnings ability and if no profits are made any
dividends are paid. This policy creates uncertainty to ordinary shareholders, especially who rely on
dividend income and might demand a higher required rate of return (Gitman, 1998).
Constant Amount Per Share or Fixed Dividend Per Share is where the dividend per share (DPS)
is fixed in amount irrespective of the earnings levels. This creates certainty and is therefore
preferred by shareholders who have a high reliance on dividend income. It protects the firm from
periods of low earnings by fixing, DPS at a low level. This policy treats all shareholders by giving a
fixed return. The DPS could be increased to a higher level if earnings appear relatively permanent
and sustainable.
Under the Constant Dividend Per Share Plus Extra/ Surplus policy, a constant DPS is paid every
year. However extra dividends are paid in years of supernormal earnings. It gives the firm
flexibility to increase dividends when earnings are high and participate in supernormal earnings.
The extra dividends are given in such a way that it is not perceived as a commitment by the firm to
continue the extra dividend in the future. It is applied by

Alabama Civil War
Journal Article Review #1 McCollum, C.
THE NEGRO IN ALABAMA DURING THE CIVIL WAR The hardships faced by the slaves
during and immediately following the Civil War were relatively the same as they had been prior to
the war. During the war, the only thing that changed for some was their Masters . The Governor of
Alabama, by an act of 1861, was authorized to accept the services of slaves offered by certain
slaveholders and in October the following year he was empowered to impress slaves between the
ages of 18 and 45 to use as laborers, essentially making the state their masters. Amendments to the
afore mentioned act in 1864 enabled the sheriff to enforce this act. The slaves were used for
building defenses in the state as well as to take the place of whites who were enlisted and
fighting the war. Some slaves accompanied their owners into battle and a few free blacks served
as substitutes for whites. By 1865, the confederacy had decided to enlist slaves but the war
ended before this plan could carried out. In 1863, the Union Army in Alabama, employed the first
Negro troops to be used mainly for fatigue duty but they were used as line soldiers in a few minor
battles. From January to October 1864, James T. Ayres a freeman from Illinois served as the
recruiter in north Alabama. While here Ayres learned just how devoted... Show more content on

Personal Narrative Draft
Personal Narrative Draft The Meriam Webster dictionary defines a cheerleader as a person who
is a member of a group (typically a group of young women) who shout out special songs or chants
to encourage the team and entertain the crowd during a game in sports like American football
and basketball. This definition described my involvement itself in my beloved sport, but it also
explains who I am as a whole person. In my life, I am a cheerleader whether I am on the sidelines
under the Friday night lights, or off the field when it comes to being a cheerleader for my family
and companions. At a young age, it was clear to me that support was something needed by
everyone, whether they wanted to accept it or not. However, before you cheer on anyone... Show

I was competing for a spot with girls I had never even seen before, and even worse: I had no idea
what they were capable of. Tryouts gave me the same rush of adrenaline I felt during my first
performance. As much as I loved the feeling, I was terrified of it all at once. Once I made my first
impression on the judges, it was time for the waiting game. It took a solid three weeks until I got
my letter in the mail that held my future cheer sealed inside. To my delight once more, the contents
of the letter were more than exciting. Congratulations! You are invited to cheer on Saint Francis
Junior Varsity Cheerleading! stated the letter in big bold block letters. The season flew by faster
than the speed of light, and before I knew it I was feeling the adrenaline rush again inside the
sticky, hot gym. I put my spot on the squad in jeopardy by going for the varsity squad as a junior,
which was something very risky because the seniors always got selected above a junior. Taking
this risk was something I would have never done, as I used to always play it safe. An
upperclassman I had confided in when I met her during my basketball season watched my tryout
from outside the window looking into the gym, and she said I had killed it, and the letter I
received that April reflected that. I was one of two juniors cheering on the football squad of all
seniors.

Steven Spielberg s Reagan-Age
Despite efforts to divorce its story from Arthur Conan Doyle s oeuvre, even politely stating a lack
of affiliation in the opening credits, Young Sherlock Holmes preserves the spirit of Doyle s
characters, fostering an intimate relationship between the adolescent leads and using deductive
reasoning as the backbone of their forthcoming professional partnership. The core attributes are
deep rooted, regardless of the reconstituted origin story and multitude of practical effects, which act
as a pleasant diversion, but produce a distracting incongruity when paired with Victorian set design.
Nevertheless, the alliance between Albion pomp and American excess routinely prevails, bolstered
by unexpected melancholic notes and lived in performances that could sway even the most
obstinate purist. The setting is a snow bound London, frigid and inhospitable, in spite of the flaxon

Based on the company s 2001 performance, the computed sustainable growth rate is at 10.95%.
This means that the forecast 15% sales growth per year for 2002 and 2003 is above the maximum

Waving Through A Window Analysis
The story of Waving Through A Window is a song in the musical Dear Evan Hansen with music
and lyrics by Benji Pasek and Justin Paul. The musical outlines the main character Evan Hansen,
a high schooler with social anxiety disorder. His feelings of rejection seen throughout the
performance and soundtrack extend specifically to his deadbeat father whom we never meet, his
single mother Heidi, who spends all her time either at her nursing job or studying to become a
paralegal, and his unrequited affection for a junior named Zoe Murphy which set the stones of
him as a person that we see over the course of the musical. His therapist assigns him to write
letters to himself about how today is going to be a good day and here s why which becomes the
spark for the plot of the story. Even so, Evan doesn t actually believe any amazing days are
coming his way, so what he writes instead is a cry for help from a desperate kid who s lost all
hope of ever feeling part of the world that swirls around him. The events leading up to the song
has Evan chatting with his family friend, the closest thing he has to an actual friend, Jared
Kleinman. Jared proceeds to tease Connor Murphy the school s resident Boo Radley on his
appearance by calling his style very school shooter chic which leads to a negative interaction
between Evan and Connor. Evan is then pushed to the ground as Jared and Connor disappear

How does Sunset Boulevard represent the Hollywood Studio...
Sunset Boulevard directed by Billy Wilder in 1950 is based on how Norma Desmond, a huge
Hollywood star, deals with her fall from fame. The film explores the fantasy world in which
Norma is living in and the complex relationship between her and small time writer Joe Gillis,
which leads to his death. Sunset Boulevard is seen as lifting the face of the Hollywood Studio
System to reveal the truth behind the organisation. During the time the film was released in the
1950s and 60s, audiences started to see the demise of Hollywood as cinema going began to decline
and the fierce competition of television almost proved too much for the well established system.

The film s main focus largely represents the Hollywood star system to which Norma Desmond
is a victim of. The film particularly highlights the fantasy world in which Norma lives in, the
world where she is the greatest star (Norma Desmond, Sunset Boulevard, 1950). Sunset
Boulevard steps into Norma s mixed up world where hundreds of photos of herself clutter her
crumbling mansion and where she watches herself on screen on a weekly basis. The crumbling
and deteriorating mansion could be seen as a metaphor for Norma s fall from stardom, the
collapse of her career. The focus of Norma s fame is a recurring theme throughout the film that is
referenced in order to emphasise the extent to which fame has affected Norma and her life. When
Norma decides to talk to Cecil DeMille about her script the young security guard questions her by
saying Norma, who? as the younger generation are unlikely to have heard of the actress. This
further emphasises the harsh reality of fame and in particular, Hollywood, as new actors and
actresses are constantly churned out to appeal to the audiences needs for the new Hollywood star .
Besides the main focus of the star system, other representations of the studio system are also
apparent within the film, for example when Joe s thoughts are expressed

Sitcom Humor Analysis
3.3. Manner The maxim of manner is flouted when the speaker uses ambiguous language or does
not talk properly and understandably (Hu 2012: 1188). Sitcom humour makes use of lexical and
referential ambiguity to flout this maxim for humour (Wu n.d.: 66/67). In the episode, the
characters flout this maxim by using words that others do not know or by using words and phrases
which are lexically ambiguous. When characters use words that others do not know, it either
ridicules the speaker (because they are unable to communicate with others) or the listener (because
they have a lack of knowledge). The humour in lexically ambiguous phrases derives from the
phrase s interpretation either by the characters or the audience. The most obvious way the maxim of
manner is flouted is when a character does not understand a word another... Show more content on

Spirit, The Stallion Of The Cimarron And Campbell s Theory
The Spirit of a Hero: Spirit, The Stallion of the Cimarron and Campbell s Theory
In the words of Joseph Campbell, A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something
bigger than oneself. He further explores this idea in his novel The Hero with a Thousand Faces ,
where he expresses his theory on the monomyth. According to Campbell, a common template can
define the passage taken by every hero, which he dubbed the Hero s Journey. As he states in the
preface of the 1949 edition of his novel, The parallels [are] immediately apparent; and these will
develop a vast and amazingly constant statement of the basic truths... Today the Hero s Journey is
defined by twelve stages which shape the development of the hero as his story progresses. One
such hero who undergoes these twelve stages is a horse known as Spirit. In his story, it is
sometime around 1862, and the United States Calvary is determined to civilize the West and
promote its open land and ample resources to Eastern Americans through the expansion of the
railroad. As the leader of the Cimarron herd, Spirit feels threatened by the intrusion and after
being forcibly captured, he becomes aware of their plans for his home and it becomes his
ambition to hinder their efforts. His journey to do so is destined to become another one of the
faces of Campbell s template, the Hero s Journey.
Like every horse in the Cimarron herd, Spirit began his life under the open skies of the prairie.

Examples Of Survival In The Young Man And The Sea
Sometimes, people try to keep something that means a lot to them, whether it is something as
small as a ВЁmemoirВЁ, which is a token of friendship. In the novel The Young Man and the
Sea by Rodman Philbrick, a little twelve year old boy named Samuel Beaman displays this
throughout the book. The biggest conflict that he has is the fact that he needs to try and earn
money himself because his father is too depressed and drunk since his wife (Samuel s mom)
passed away. Since Skiff is stuck in a situation where his familyis threatening to break apart, he
decides to become the ВЁman of the familyВЁ and goes out to try and earn some money just so
his family can keep on going. Without any money, there will be no hope for Samuel and his father.
I think this shows that survival often leads to desperation and can often make you do things that
you never thought that you could do. First off, Skiff tries to keep his family alive by earning

One factor that plays a huge role in Skiff being successful is the fact that he never ever gave up.

eventually would have given up and become depressed like his father. You should always give
your best towards something that you set your mind towards, and if you really want to achieve

Historical And Legal Issues Of Developmental Disabilities...
This chapter on Historical and Legal Issues in Developmental Disabilities by James R. Thompson
and Michael L. Wehmeyer talked about how people perceived people with intellectual and
developmental disabilities over the past few centuries. Intellectual and developmental disabilities
have been around for a while and many people have been scrutinized for having disabilities. Early
on people with disabilities were treated unfairly or mistreated by other community members. It was
not until the late 19th, 20th, and 21st century where people started to help people with disabilities
to attempt making a difference. There were many key themes throughout the chapter that I found
very interesting, including the way people with disabilities were treated in the early years. People
with disabilities were segregated from the rest of the community due to them being different in the
middle agesto the 18th century. It came to my attention that people did not have respect for
people with disabilities. No one cared to get to know them or help them. It was normal for people
to call people with disabilities names, or refer to them as idiots . Countless numbers of people with
disabilities or who had mental illnesses were institutionalized. Even though there was many
neglectful people in the world, there was also a number of people who started to address the
situation and make a difference. Although civilians still needed to work on their terminology
referring to people with disabilities.

John Augustine s The Confessions St. Augustine
In Chapter IV of his Confessions, St. Augustine describes his terrible grief at the death of a friend,
and then to the adherence to mortal things, and why he regrets them. He writes that everybody
experiences death differently, but the death of his close friend made him realize that this life is
temporal. He continues saying that he was stricken with grief from the death of his friend and that
made him want to move away from his hometown. Everything there brought his friend to mind,
and he was always looking for him. He was constantly in tears and was miserable. My home
became a torture to me, a strange world of unhappiness, all that I shared with him was transformed
into a cruel torment. My eyes looked for him everywhere . Augustine... Show more content on

And if he sought comfort from this fantasy, it only made him more downcast. Finally, though, time
brought a measure of healing, and here is where Augustine begins a subtle argument about sorrow
and the nature of God. He says that the sorrow he felt at his friend s death was so extreme because
he had poured his soul onto the dust, but loving a man as if he would never die who nevertheless
had to die. (IV, viii).
Augustine s draws the distinction between caritas, as seeking one s final end in God, and
cupiditas, as seeking one s final end in that which is other than God. He seems to ask this question
of himself The things which are in the world God made, that is, the sky and the earth, the sea, the
sun, the moon, the stars, all adornments of the heavens. What about the adornments of the sea?
Fish and all swimming creatures. And those of the land? Animals, trees, flying creatures. These are
all in the world, God made them. Why should I not love what God has made?
Augustine carries on with; all persons want to be happy; and no persons are happy who do not have
what they want. From this statement, he proceeds with questioning what a person should obtain to
achieve happiness since happiness is a matter of having what one wants in order to be happy. The
answer proposed by Augustine is that happiness constitutes something that can be had when it is
wanted

Homelessness in Cincinnati Essay
In Ohio (The Tri state), and over the last 17 years, there has been a 160% population increase.
Homelessness has become a problem in the city of Cincinnati. Many families are homeless
because of job layoffs and exhausted unemployment benefits. Some families are employed but do
not earn enough wages to support a family and pay for adequate housing. Young single mothers
can receive welfare benefits (Aid for Dependent Children) for 36 months. During that time they
are supposed to be furthering their education or preparing to go to work. If neither is
accomplished, the mother will receive medical for the children and food stamps only. If the family

People are forced to move and find other dwellings. For example, an apartment building called the
metro pole was recently sold for renovation. The people who reside in the building are the
disabled, mentally ill or people difficult to place in other housing, for some reason or another. The
building was built more than 30 years ago and has 230 two room affordable apartments; in a very
convenient location near downtown Cincinnati, close to bus stops, and shopping. The building will
be renovated to a 160 room lustrous hotel, so that upscale workers can be near their jobs. In
2008, city council had limited jobs for human service workers for the people in over the Rhine.
Over the Rhine is a small community in the heart and back end of downtown Cincinnati, known as
the ghetto. It consists of poor people of all nationalities and in which most of the homeless live.
Although organizations are working with the Cincinnati Interfaith Worker Center in helping day
labor workers organize to improve job stipulations; wages, and working conditions(Greater
Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless, 2010), jobs are still not an option in Cincinnati for the
homeless, or those with criminal records. When the only viable jobs are offered by labor pools,
the people are often exploited and treated with less dignity and have the lowest most devastating
working conditions.
Those who can only work part time, or have no transportation must car pool with someone or pay

Jackie Robinson s Life Is A Turning Point In Life
What is a turning point in life? And how does it change and impact on others lives? A turning
point can be described as a dramatic change in life that might change someone s life forever by
letting them face a life changing event. In the autobiography I Never Had It Made by Jackie
Robinson, the memoir Warriors Don t Cry by Melba Pattillo Beals, and the article The Father of
Chinese Aviation by Rebecca Maksel, the people introduced in the stories all faced turning
points in their lives that had impacted on them greatly. In all these three pieces of text, the
people introduced in the stories had fought through racial tension and worked hard in order to
accomplish their success and faced the life changing experiences in their lives. They not only
impacted on themselves, but also on their country and society. Jackie Robinson s life changed
when he became the first black man to play in the World Series and Major League Baseball
during a time of segregation in the United States. These life changing events challenged him
because he had to face racially tense crowds and endured threats from teammates, opponents and
bigoted fan. According to paragraph three of the text, Robinson states, Some of my teammates
refused to accept me because I was black. I had been forced to live with snubs, rebuffs, and
rejections. This quote explains that Robinson had faced the rejections from some of his teammates
because he looked different from them. Despite the racism he faced, these life changing events
caused Robinson to grow and develop by making him proud of his accomplishments and appreciate
the support, courage, and love shown by his supporters. In paragraph four, Robinson states, Black
peoplesupported me with total loyalty. They supported me morally: they came to sit in a hostile
audience in unprecedented numbers to make the turnstiles hum as they never had before at
ballparks all over the nation. Money is America s God, and business people can dig black power
if it coincides with green power, so these fans were important to the success of Mr. Rickey s Noble
Experiment . This quote stated the idea of the blacks were trying to fight through their excitement
and nervousness that they felt since they had not been

Atp Human Movement Process
ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is a molecule used for human movement. Even though ATP is
being constantly produced, it is not produced fast enough to keep us moving for long periods of
time. Thus, we have the three metabolic pathways; the ATP/CP (creatine phosphate) pathway,
the glycolytic pathway, and the aerobic oxidative pathway to continuously provide our bodies
with ATP during any activity. Each pathway has a storage of ATP which can only rebuild so
quickly. Once ATP depletes from one system the next system takes over. The ATP/CP pathway
requires no oxygen for energy use and is utilized during short periods of time; no more than 3 to 15
seconds of high intensity work before ATP runs out. For activities such as a 50 meter dash or a 1 rep

To prepare for a marathon I would do activities that last for long periods of time to help build my
endurance. Endurance exercises stimulate certain changes to help the body progress as more
strain is put on it. This would in turn condition my body to learn how to overcome this strain s
and continue to push through the lactic acid. If I was an experienced runner, I would aim to do
activities other than running to improve my fitness and prevent and rehabilitate any injuries I
may have acquired from running too much. A total body strength training session such as
swimming or biking would help keep my heart rate up and help build my endurance. However, if
I was brand new to running, I would first start by running a few times a week, around 20 minutes
a day depending on how my cardio was and worked up from there every week; until I felt I was
ready to run the marathon. Even though the aerobic oxidative pathway will continue to produce
energy for long periods of time, if I am not properly trained for the marathon the depletion of
glucose, glycogen, and fatty acids necessary for endurance activities will limit how far I am able to

Comparison Of The Downfall Of Camelot
Rome Was Not Built in a Day (But It Fell Shortly Thereafter)
Don t let it be forgot, that once there was a spot, for one brief shining moment, that was known
as Camelot (Alan Jay Lerner). Camelot is known as a place of wonder, and many have heard the
wondrous tales compiled in its lore. From its golden age to its conclusion, Camelot has endured
many iterations of legends, each using the events of the times to compile an expansive canon of
stories. However, what is perhaps most interesting in these legends are the circumstances
surrounding its downfall. In early versions, the cause of Camelot s downfall is invaders,
mirroring the Saxon, Celtic, and later Norman battles for control of Britain. However, in any
version following Tennyson s Idylls of the King, the cause of its destruction shifts from outside
battles to inner affairs. The most well known iteration of the legend is presented in T. H. White s
Once and Future King, which was later adapted into the musical Camelot; in these works, the
primary reasons for Camelot s downfall can seen in the relationship of Guinevere and Lancelot, the
story surrounding Mordred, and the actions of Arthur himself. One of the primary reasons for
Camelot s downfall is the relationship of Guinevere and Lancelot. In Camelot, the beginning of the
affair alone causes issues, with Guinevere s attempt to entice knights to fight Lancelot creating a rift
within the Round Table. While the affair itself may have been ultimately unharmful had it

Technology And Systems Administration Has Prompted...
As indicated by Kizza (2013), the fast development of systems administration has prompted
expanded security dangers. A large portion of these dangers are an aftereffect of hacking, uncalled
for employments of system assets and system gadget vulnerabilities. Familiarity with the different
shortcomings and vulnerabilities is fundamental to the achievement of current systems (Kizza,
2013).
The system security occurrences are expanding at an exasperating rate each year. As the
multifaceted nature of these dangers expands, so do the efforts to establish safety required to
secure systems. Endeavor server farm administrators and investigators, arrange directors and in
addition other server farm specialists need to comprehend the standards of security so as to
securely convey and oversee organizes today.
Defenselessness Assessment
Vulnerabilities
Laurie (2002) characterizes defenselessness as shortcoming that is profoundly installed in each
system and gadget and along these lines hard to evacuate. Such gadgets incorporate switches,
workstations, switches, servers and in addition the security gadgets themselves. Vulnerabilities in
system security can be considered as the easy objectives inside each system. These vulnerabilities
are available in the whole system framework (LAN organize, singular gadgets and ISP) that make
up the system (Laurie, 2002).
Systems are by and large confronted with all or a portion of the key vulnerabilities or shortcomings

Second Lines in New Orleans
On the morning of August 29, 2005 was one of the deadliest hurricanes in the United States, known
as Hurricane Katrina struck the south coast of New Orleans, leaving thousands of African American
whom lived in Treme homeless, missing and hundreds dead. Way before the hurricane Treme,
which is one of the oldest African Americanneighborhoods in New Orleans. The city of New
Orleans is officially divided into 73 neighborhoods grouped into 13 planning districts. Among these,
the 4th district is of interest because of its central location, cultural history, and socio economic

These cultural things are beginning to change. People that have been here a short time, and I
mean twenty years is a short time, twenty years or less. They want the second lines to clean up
after themselves... Growing up in Treme, you had a bar, a church, and a funeral home, so you
knew where your family was (Barrios, 14). Cheryl Austin caused much commotion with his
comments and sparked attention with Pierre Bourdieu, who describes her as recently, arrived
outsiders. For me, if you did not grow up here, you cannot appreciate living here. People who
think like that, people who want Treme transformed, could go anywhere and dismantle what was
there and build what they wanted. For outsiders, the most important thing here is the building.
For us, it is our culture, for us, that is, what we consider community, not the buildings (Barrios,
15). Both Austin and Bourdieu make two completely point about the way they view their culture
difference of Treme. To my knowledge what Austin was trying to interpret his view is that when
he grew up in Treme, it was all about being free and being comfortable around your own
neighborhood, which I absolutely agree with. I wouldn t want to live in a neighborhood where I
couldn t feel free to do what I want to do, like sitting on the privacy of my own home and drinking

Presidential Campaign Ethics Case Study
In short, the Presidential Campaign is long and tough an often in the beginning you may have up
to seven opponents all trying to win their party nomination to run against the other party winner
on a national level. Therefore, each of the candidates will hire a team to manage his or her
campaign and each team goal is to convince the public that their candidate is the best choice and it
s their job to help get their candidate message on the primary elections and then on to the national
elections. In general, the political team will use different forms of mass communication such as;
radio, television, and satellite TV are the most logical choice because it can reach millions of
people and it can affect how they view their candidate opponents. However, most people don t trust
politicians believing they would say anything to get elected and according to Neher Sandin (2007),
To many people, political communication ethics sounds like oxymoron (p. 227). Furthermore, in

Sociology In Sociology
Social structure and social interaction are based on two levels of analysis: Macrosociology and
microsociology. Macrosociology, like its name describes, is focused on the broad view of
society and how it studies society s behavior. Theorists can analyze and distinguish the different
social classes and groups in society. Microsociology is focused on social interaction, how people
react and what they do when they are together. Theorists can examine people s behaviors and
how they communicate to one another. Both can be used to understand society and society s
social life. Macrosociology. In Belize, teachers and lectures tend to be more comfortable around
their students. In the United States, students will probably not encounter their professors out
late at night in a club. In Belize, however, it not uncommon to see a lecturer out drinking in the
club. This is our social structure. It common to see your teacher drinking as common as it is to
not be surprised by it. In the Cayo district of Belize, it is polite to say the time of day to your
elder. In the Belize district, people walk past each other without saying a word. The social
structure is the behavior that people in our society deem acceptable or a norm. A social class is
a large number of people that have similar income, education, and/or career. Looking at class,
really broadens the view of society and how divided it is. Whether it is a small or large gap
between the social class, there are still distinct features.

The Sources of Robert Mugabe s Corruption
As a life of a young boy Robert Mugabe was growing up to hate the British colony that had
settled in Zimbabwe. With the struggle of limited education and certain life styles, Mugabe was
left to tend the family farm and raise money for his family by doing jobs in the town he lived in.
After his father mysteriously disappeared one afternoon, Mugabe was alone with his mother and
two siblings to fend for themselves (Robert MugabeBiography). No wonder this man hates the
British colony that settled, after they did his life was ruined, or so he thought. Now what used to
be a beautiful Zimbabwewas ruined and destroyed, but not only by the British intruders, but by
Mugabe himself. He became powerful and cruel to all of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is corrupted in
many different ways, bribery, military, prostitution, and even their Prime Minister. Since
Mugabe s election in 1980 he has ruled his people with violence and intimidation. Mugabe has
since been the only leader in Zimbabwe. Gold and Diamonds, Zimbabwe s best natural
resources, fueled Mugabe s candidacy with money (Robert Mugabe Biography). Mugabe wanted
to rule his country and have people live like he wanted them too, but most of all he hated the
British colony and all whites in his country. He made it his life goal to threaten all intruders and
whites, an all out genocide. Mugabe s hatred for the whites led him to kill 20,000 civilians thought
to have opposed him. In only five years Mugabe had managed to murder many

Upbringing Of Same Sex Marriage In The United States
The importance of love has abruptly changed society forever.Same sex marriage has evolved
over time. Before the law was passed in 2015 that it was legal for same sex can get married in
any state in the United States; they had to build that foundation to get to this point. People that
were not man and woman marriages were frowned upon by people that was not for it. These
people were murdered, whipped, said they had a disorder, and brutally beaten until they changed
their ways . The plethora of court cases, Harvey Milk, and The Defense Of Marriage Act are all
examples of the coming of age of same sex marriage.
Over the years from the early 1900s to the present 20th century marriage has made a 360. From
deaths, jail time, and whippings; this is what molds the upbringing of same sex marriage.

  • 2. Why The Nurse Interacts With A Family Managing A Chronic... There are many factors to consider when the nurse interacts with a family managing a chronic illness. The nurse must consider the structure of the family and how they interact while also identifying how the family and individual with the chronic condition, manage their condition. They must identify any risk factors that may impede their ability to manage their chroniccondition or protective factors that improve their abilities to self manage. An analysis of the developmental stage the family or individual along with the stage of illness they are experiencing is necessary to successfully build relationships and help guide the family through chronic illness management. Commendation of the family s efforts and abilities to manage difficult situations revolving around illness may enhance the family s confidence and improve self management (Wright and Leahey, 2013). These components will be explored and discussed regarding the family structure of two sisters, R.C. and J.A. R.C. has Marfan syndromeand J.A. is an active participant in helping her sister manage her condition. This family structure will be discussed in relationship to their family management style, their individual and family risk factors, and their management of R.C. s chronic condition. Contextual components will include the lifestyle stage as defined by Wright and Leahey (2013), and the phase of chronic illness and its developmental challenges as outline by Rolland (2005). • 3. Transcendence and Technology in William Gibson s Neuromancer Transcendence and Technology in Neuromancer Where do we go from here? Case asks near the conclusion of William Gibson s novel Neuromancer (259). One answer suggested throughout most of the narrative is nowhere. True, geographically we are whisked around the urban centers of Earth in the near future, Chiba City, the Sprawl, Istanbul, and then to the orbital pleasure domes and corporate stronghold of Freeside and Straylight. The kind of movement to which I am referring is not overtly physical, though. Neuromancer articulates a motion inward, its attention focused upon subtle interiors; it is implosive rather than expansive, choosing to examine how technology affects the universe of self, individual consciousness, rather than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this increasingly sophisticated technology, with the ability to remake the world and ourselves, Case s question resonates self consciously: where do we go from here? Neuromancer presents technology in an accelerating culture as a potent force capable of facilitating escape, immersion, destruction, and even transcendence of self without glamorizing or demonizing technology itself. Perhaps, in this manner, Gibson is able to posit more than one viable answer to this paralyzing (peculiarly postmodern) question. As the gap between present and future grows smaller and becomes difficult to discern, people and machines overlap and, in some cases, are indistinct or interchangeable. If we move even twenty minutes into the future (a la Max Headroom [1985]), as Larry McCaffrey states, we will encounter a world...unimaginably transformed... (9). In this environment, where whole bodies of technique are supplanted monthly , the soft flesh of the human body becomes a deliberately unsupervised playground for technology itself (Neuromancer 4,11). Some cybernetic implants, Molly s mirrorshaded eyes, her retractable razor claws, the brain sockets built to accept microsofts, software allowing instant access to and mastery of entire worlds of knowledge and skills, offer the promise of heightened, seemingly superhuman, physical and/or mental abilities. Such prosthetics seek to exploit or enhance a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Examples Of Sorrow In The Odyssey Can you know true happiness without knowing sorrow? Happiness is a subjective emotion. Some people say they cannot be happy without first experiencing bad things. I do not think this is entirely true. Babies know happiness when they get to play with their favorite toy or when they see something new that excites them. Now some might argue that babies have experienced sorrow or unhappiness when they are crying however, I think their short attention span makes them forget sorrow much easier than happiness. When you apply this concept to adults like Odysseus things become slightly different, he has experienced a lot of sorrow in his life and his definition of happiness is probably very different than mine; I do not think finally making it back to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes it can be their wife or another man. If Odysseus had left a regent king in charge for ten years during the Trojan War and for another ten after it ended and he was wandering the likelihood that the regent king had not taken over is highly unlikely they would have waited around for that much time for Odysseus. Now since The Odyssey does not mention one He does not specifically have to worry about this problem however, he has to worry about someone seizing his throne. Telemachus is around twenty or twenty one years of age now, having not known his father it is surprising he has not been appointed to king yet or killed by the suitors so they can be king. Telemachus could also turn on his father, remember he has never known him and does not have a bond with him, so he could be king. Before Telemachus went on his journey he was very timid but after his journey he became brave (Homer ). People change can change so much in twenty years that even Penelope, who has been faithful to Odysseus the whole time, might not be the same. Everything Odysseus knows could be ... • 5. Economic Reforms Of Alexander Hamilton There were many important people in America s early years after the Revolutionary War. Many people would argue that George Washington or James Madison may be the most important person in the 15 years following the Revolutionary War, but there is one person who often gets overlooked. The most important person from America s beginning years as a country is Alexander Hamilton because of his economic reforms, his compromise with James Madison and Thomas Jefferson, and his encouragement of manufacturing. Alexander Hamilton was very influential in America s early years. He was known for his capitalistic views for America. He wanted America to become a thriving country full of trade, banking, finance, investment, manufacturing, and commercial cities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... James Madison was one of his allies while they were trying to ratify the constitution, but after James Madison opposed him because of how he assumed the state debts. Madison started a fierce debate in Congress over this issue because the southern states had paid off more of their debts than the northern states. His state assumption plan was not passed in Congress, but he did not give up. He invited Thomas Jefferson and James Madison to dinner in New York City. He worked to meet a compromise with them within just a night together, and he succeeded. Their famous compromise decided that the capital would be moved from New York City to Philadelphia, after this the new capital would be built on a federal district between Maryland and Virginia, and Hamilton got the votes he needed for his debt assumption plan. This compromise shows us how persuasive he is. He was also very persuasive when he tried to turn America into an industrialized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Lomu Speech Jonah Lomu Speech To be a giant of a man, to have an enormous heart and to be an inspiration to all that he meets; Jonah Lomu is a true leader among men. A New Zealander of Tongan decent Jonah was born on the 12 May 1975 and grew up in the tough suburbs of South Auckland where he could have ended up in serious trouble if he hadn t been given the discipline, academic focus and sporting opportunities that he received while attending Wesley College. At College Jonah s sporting talents became very obvious, he smashed many athletic records and despite his large size he has blistering pace; covering 100 meters in 10.8 sec, which would even be a very respectable time next to Usan Bolts world record of 9.58. He played rugby for the first XV for an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No wonder, then, that when Jonah runs down the wing players bounce off him as bullets do off Robocop what a vision on the field that was. The immense contribution Jonah has made to rugby through his career by his 100% commitment on the field; to his sportsmanship and support of others is something to be admired, and since his retirement Jonah has become the Ambassador for UNICEF and many other charities. As well as becoming a member of the Champions for Peace club (a group of 54 elite athletes committed to serving peace in the world through sport). Jonah also takes on many public speaking and mentoring roles and in 2007 was awarded The Member of the Order of New Zealand for his services to Rugby an award well deserved. Finally Jonah underwent a kidney transplant in Auckland hospital. But he didn t let that hold him back from reaching his dream of being able to play the game he loves so much, and in 2005 Jonah played his rugby comeback game in England and signed a deal with French Club Marseilles in 2009. • 7. Strip Mining Essay Some may say the best way to mine is by strip mining some may not agree to this, until you have lived near an area that has been completely destroyed due to this you would never understand. It is so hard to see such a breath taking view that once was part of your home taken away from you. You may think over time all of the tree and all of the animals that lived in this area will come back, but that is not always the case. Many may say due to living in West Virginia we depend on coal miningfor many jobs to support families but not only this so we have a natural resource here for more jobs to become available, but are the effects from this truly worth it? What brings so much money into are state also destroys the beautiful rolling mountains... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Kanawah County in January of 2014 a river got polluted with chemicals used from strip mining this caused many residents to be out of water for weeks. This incident caused such a big catastrophe that the stores in the southern part of the state began to run out of drinking water due to being the only resource the residents had for water at that time. The easiest way coal mining chemicals get into our water ways is when the soak into the ground and the rain washes it down hill into our water ways. There have been many lawsuits in West Virginia over the type of incidents that happened in January in 2014, but the coal companies still continue to do so just getting away with a fine and a slap on the wrist. Coal mining is a great resource for our state, but it comes with dangerous side effects. The companies come into our state and start destroying everything because all they worry about is the paycheck they are going to get. What many do not realize is what helps our state in so many ways hurts us in more ways than what it helps. This proves to be true with all of the effects strip mining has and all of the accidents caused by the coal companies in the past. What helps our residents in our state make a living day to day also causes the place we know and love to be destroyed, causes major flooding issues, and can also pollute our water ... • 8. The Matter Of Gun Control The matter of gun control has become an increasingly controversial issue. Whenever, a nationalized tragedy ensues that involves gun violence, the question on what to accomplish regarding America s gun control takes center stage. While exploring this topic, this essay will attempt to discuss the circumstances that prohibit a person from possessing firearms, also regulations to prevent these persons from possessing firearms. Upon reflecting on the personal side of the gun control debate, stricter gun control begins to infringe upon our rights, as citizens and they should concentrate on enforcing the current laws in the books, instead of making additional laws. Furthermore, gun control indisputably is a concern that subjectively has effected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, Federal Firearms Act of 1938 brought about congress directing a law involving the selling and shipping of firearms within interstate or foreign retail networks. Nonetheless, after the assassination of President Kennedy the 1968 Gun Control Act was enacted, which tightens legislation on the sales of mail order guns. Moreover, beginning in 1972 was the establishment of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms. Facilitating restrictions on gun sellers and the selling of some guns, was the 1986 Firearms Owners Protection Act. Eventually, establishing a policy for drug free school zones was the 1990 Crime Control Act, which was inclusive on criminal penalization for possessing or discharging a firearm in a school zone. Next, implementing a five day waiting period and background check, 1993 brought about the Brady Bill, which was modified in 1998 to sanction checks to be performed over the phone or electronically with the findings returned instantly in the majority of circumstances. Commonly discussed as the Assault Weapons Ban starting in 1994 was the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act. Consequently, Colorado voters recall pro gun control state senators, Democrats John Morse and Angela Giron for their sponsorship of freshly enacted gun control laws that require background checks on private gun sales and limit magazine clips of 15 rounds, what a reaction from the people tired of the establishment stepping on their ... • 9. Zaroff The Interlopers Two people can be similar in many ways, but they may not know this. Sometimes the two people don t even know each other. Two people wrote two different short stories about two characters that went through different things but were a lot alike. In Richard Connell s short story The Most Dangerous Game and Saki s short story The Interlopers, the main characters General Zaroff and Ulrich von Gradwitz are alike in the following ways: both men hunted on their own land, both men hunted humans, and both men died. Out of all the places in the world both men choose to hunt on their own land. Their own backyards, this was the best place for both of these men to hunt. It was secluded and no one would trespass and stumble upon them hunting.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Zaroff did this for the thrill and challenge of it, because animals were not enough of a challenge for him. Ulrich did this because he was hunting a lifelong enemy, whose family has been an enemy of Ulrich s family for many generations. Both men aimed to kill the humans on their land, whether for fun or for a lifelong feud. Ulrich and Zaroff were hunters and the other humans were prey. Neither man feared the consequences, for they both thought they would never be caught. In a way they were right, they were never caught by the police or others. But this was because both were killed. Zaroff was killed by one of the humans he hunted, but failed to kill. Ulrich was killed by wolves along with his enemy Georg, this was right after they had decided to end the fued and become friends. Neither man was caught but both men suffered in death. In conclusion, two people can be a lot alike, even if they don t know each other. Both men had many things in common even though they went through different situations. If Ulrich and Zaroff had known each other they may have worked together and been unstoppable. Both men suffered in the end and no one knew what they had been doing, and the few that did know were dead. This shows that what goes around comes around and that bad people get punished for what they do even if no one knows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Essay about Sterling Seagrave s Dragon Lady Empress Dowager Tzu His Exposed in Sterling Seagrave s Dragon Lady China s great ancient empire has been the source of stories, fables, and fascination throughout the world for generations. The Asian culture has a long history of powerful leaders and ruthless battles making it one of the longest standing powers that the world has ever known. Yet, what took centuries to create was destroyed during the reign of a single ruler, plunging the country into chaos and confusion. The one who often is believed to have generated this collapse is the Empress Dowager Tzu His, the last Empress of China. Until the end of her reign in the early 1900s, the life of the Empress was shrouded in mystery. Once people gained access to the court ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many took Blackhouse s reports at face value and it was not until later that people began to question the truth about China s last royal leader. The book Dragon Lady, by Sterling Seagrave, is more than just a biography of the Empress Dowager Tzu Hsi; it is a complex analysis of how the actions of royalty and politics played into China s most trying times of modernization. Seagrave eliminates the myths and false stories about the Empress, using facts from multiple sources to provide a realistic story, which sets the stage for the reform period of China. Seagrave does an excellent job not only of writing about the life of the Empress Dowager, but also explaining the issues surrounding China at the time of the Empress reign. Detailed explanations about the turmoil amongst the other members of the royal court, Western invasion and the Boxer rebellion are carefully analyzed to distinguish truth from fiction in hopes of revealing the true story of Tzu Hsi and eliminating the myths that surround the ruler. John H. Boyle, of California State University, writes in The Library Journal a raving review of Dragon Lady saying: The Dowager Empress Tzu Hsi, ruling from behind the silk curtain, held extraordinary power during the last decades of China s tottering empire. Her name has always been linked with unflattering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the progress of the 19th, 20th and 21st century, the English language was a continuous but varying influence on the Japanese language and its culture. The result of this centuries long process is a Japanese language that contains more than its fair share of English loanwords. Although most Japanese people, even those of older age, are familiar with a lot of English loanwords, this does not necessarily mean they are familiar with English. These words, which are taken from English and used functionally in Japanese conversation primarily by native speakers, often have an already existing, possible common Japanese equivalent. Therefore, these loanwords could be considered redundant and quite double to an outsider. However, in certain situations, the English word is greatly preferred, whereas the Japanese word would stand out strangely, for reasons which will be thoroughly discussed in this section. These English loanwords in Japanese language have been dubbed double loanwords , for the sake of creating an understandable and clear term, specifically for this paper. Notably, there are two domains where these double loanwords appear in Japanese speech; fashion and food. These domains are not coincidental, as both have been heavily influenced by foreign culture. Japanese fashion and Japanese Western style cuisine, or youshoku жґ‹йЈџ, are inspired largely by their French, English and American equivalents. • 12. Theories Surrounding The RMS Titanic The RMS Titanic is a passenger liner that sunk in the North Atlantic in 1912 after hitting an iceberg. About 1,500 of the estimated 2,224 passengers died. The ship sailed full speed despite ice warnings, preventing it from stopping or steering away from the berg. Watertight compartments flooded, causing Titanic to go under. These details are supported by accounts and physical evidence, and therefore, widely accepted as truth. However, there s a few alternative conspiracy and architectural theories. The most notorious theory is by author Robin Gardiner, who posited Titanic was actually its sister ship, Olympic. In an accident report, Olympic was found responsible for a 1911 collision with the HMS Hawke. Consequently, the insurers wouldn t cover the damages, and Titanic s debut was delayed. Gardiner suggests that to ensure financial gains from at least one running liner, Olympic was patched up and renovated to pose as Titanic. The two ships were very similar in design, with minor external and moderate internal differences. Both also had linoleum floors, which a managing director demanded be covered on the alleged Titanic at the last minute.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 17. What Are The Five Major Functions That A Load Balancer... By definition load balancing means the ability to spread the load of processing for an application over a number of separate systems for an overall performance increase in processing in coming requests. This seems very simple and conceptual very easy to think about the process; just splitting up the load helps it get done faster. But although this concept may seem simple enough, there are many factors that can add heavy levels of complexity. For example, anyone who has ever managed large groups of people in the Army can attest to that. There are five major functions that a load balancer performs: Intercepts network based traffic (such as web traffic) destined for a site. Splits the traffic into individual requests and decides which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When servers were pushed to their limits the initial thought process was to beef up the system such as adding more ram, upping the processor, and increasing the storage space. However these measure only took the scaling so far. At some point, you would have again maxed out all the hardware platform and its capability. Also beefing up the server meant substantial down time and in the exploding world of commerce that was not a viable option. Before Server Load Balancing was a technology or a viable product, site administrators would and employ a load balancing process known as a DNS round robin. DNS round robin uses a function of DNS that allows more than one IP address to associate with a host name. Every DNS entry has what is known as an A record, which maps a hostname, such as www.example.com to an IP address, such as 111.222.333.444. Usually only one IP address is given to a hostname. With DNS round robin, it is possible to give multiple IP addresses to a host name distributing traffic more or less evenly to listed IP addresses. For instance, let s say you had three web servers with IP addresses of 111.222.333.444, 111.222.333.445, and 111.222.333.446 that we wanted to share the load for the site www.example.com. • 21. The Change Of Corporate Dividend Policy There have also been significant changes in corporate payout policy over this period. According to the Constant payout ratio, a firm will pay a fixed dividend rate e.g. 40% of earnings. The dividend per share would therefore fluctuate as the earnings per share changes. Dividends are directly dependent on the firm s earnings ability and if no profits are made any dividends are paid. This policy creates uncertainty to ordinary shareholders, especially who rely on dividend income and might demand a higher required rate of return (Gitman, 1998). Constant Amount Per Share or Fixed Dividend Per Share is where the dividend per share (DPS) is fixed in amount irrespective of the earnings levels. This creates certainty and is therefore preferred by shareholders who have a high reliance on dividend income. It protects the firm from periods of low earnings by fixing, DPS at a low level. This policy treats all shareholders by giving a fixed return. The DPS could be increased to a higher level if earnings appear relatively permanent and sustainable. Under the Constant Dividend Per Share Plus Extra/ Surplus policy, a constant DPS is paid every year. However extra dividends are paid in years of supernormal earnings. It gives the firm flexibility to increase dividends when earnings are high and participate in supernormal earnings. THE NEGRO IN ALABAMA DURING THE CIVIL WAR The hardships faced by the slaves during and immediately following the Civil War were relatively the same as they had been prior to the war. During the war, the only thing that changed for some was their Masters . The Governor of Alabama, by an act of 1861, was authorized to accept the services of slaves offered by certain slaveholders and in October the following year he was empowered to impress slaves between the ages of 18 and 45 to use as laborers, essentially making the state their masters. Amendments to the afore mentioned act in 1864 enabled the sheriff to enforce this act. The slaves were used for building defenses in the state as well as to take the place of whites who were enlisted and fighting the war. Some slaves accompanied their owners into battle and a few free blacks served as substitutes for whites. By 1865, the confederacy had decided to enlist slaves but the war ended before this plan could carried out. In 1863, the Union Army in Alabama, employed the first Negro troops to be used mainly for fatigue duty but they were used as line soldiers in a few minor battles. The crumbling and deteriorating mansion could be seen as a metaphor for Norma s fall from stardom, the collapse of her career. The focus of Norma s fame is a recurring theme throughout the film that is referenced in order to emphasise the extent to which fame has affected Norma and her life. When Norma decides to talk to Cecil DeMille about her script the young security guard questions her by saying Norma, who? as the younger generation are unlikely to have heard of the actress. This further emphasises the harsh reality of fame and in particular, Hollywood, as new actors and actresses are constantly churned out to appeal to the audiences needs for the new Hollywood star . Besides the main focus of the star system, other representations of the studio system are also apparent within the film, for example when Joe s thoughts are expressed ... Airport Body Scanners and Personal Privacy Essay Airport Body Scanners and Personal Privacy Believe it or not, there was a time when passengers showed up an hour before their flights and walked directly to their assigned gates without taking off their shoes at a security screening station or throwing away their bottles of water. There was even a time when friends and family met passengers at the gate and watch their flights take off or land without having a ticket or identification...and that was only ten years ago. They claim that the only guarantee the body scanners can make is violation of privacy for innocent people. Privacy issues often become a heated debate in a country like the United States of America, which was founded on the basic principle of freedom. Passengers are outraged that officials are viewing nude images of their bodies. They are rebelling against intrusive pat downs and demanding better solutions. The TSA takes all of these concerns under consideration and has made admirable efforts to ensure privacy, as well as to clarify points used in arguments against the new screenings. For example, the TSA has established strict guidelines regarding the images received by the body scanners. Images of women are only viewed by female agents and images of men are only viewed by male agents. The agents viewing the images are in a separate, secure room and never see the passengers they are viewing on screen. According to TSA s privacy policy, The two officers communicate via wireless ... Sitcom humour makes use of lexical and referential ambiguity to flout this maxim for humour (Wu n.d.: 66/67). In the episode, the characters flout this maxim by using words that others do not know or by using words and phrases which are lexically ambiguous. When characters use words that others do not know, it either ridicules the speaker (because they are unable to communicate with others) or the listener (because they have a lack of knowledge). The humour in lexically ambiguous phrases derives from the phrase s interpretation either by the characters or the audience. Spirit, The Stallion Of The Cimarron And Campbell s Theory The Spirit of a Hero: Spirit, The Stallion of the Cimarron and Campbell s Theory In the words of Joseph Campbell, A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself. He further explores this idea in his novel The Hero with a Thousand Faces , where he expresses his theory on the monomyth. According to Campbell, a common template can define the passage taken by every hero, which he dubbed the Hero s Journey. As he states in the preface of the 1949 edition of his novel, The parallels [are] immediately apparent; and these will develop a vast and amazingly constant statement of the basic truths... Today the Hero s Journey is defined by twelve stages which shape the development of the hero as his story progresses. One such hero who undergoes these twelve stages is a horse known as Spirit. As the leader of the Cimarron herd, Spirit feels threatened by the intrusion and after being forcibly captured, he becomes aware of their plans for his home and it becomes his ambition to hinder their efforts. Wehmeyer talked about how people perceived people with intellectual and developmental disabilities over the past few centuries. Intellectual and developmental disabilities have been around for a while and many people have been scrutinized for having disabilities. Early on people with disabilities were treated unfairly or mistreated by other community members. It was not until the late 19th, 20th, and 21st century where people started to help people with disabilities to attempt making a difference. There were many key themes throughout the chapter that I found very interesting, including the way people with disabilities were treated in the early years. People with disabilities were segregated from the rest of the community due to them being different in the middle agesto the 18th century. It came to my attention that people did not have respect for people with disabilities. No one cared to get to know them or help them. It was normal for people to call people with disabilities names, or refer to them as idiots . Countless numbers of people with disabilities or who had mental illnesses were institutionalized. Even though there was many neglectful people in the world, there was also a number of people who started to address the situation and make a difference. He continues saying that he was stricken with grief from the death of his friend and that made him want to move away from his hometown. Everything there brought his friend to mind, and he was always looking for him. He was constantly in tears and was miserable. He says that the sorrow he felt at his friend s death was so extreme because he had poured his soul onto the dust, but loving a man as if he would never die who nevertheless had to die. (IV, viii). Augustine s draws the distinction between caritas, as seeking one s final end in God, and cupiditas, as seeking one s final end in that which is other than God. He seems to ask this question of himself The things which are in the world God made, that is, the sky and the earth, the sea, the sun, the moon, the stars, all adornments of the heavens. What about the adornments of the sea? Fish and all swimming creatures. And those of the land? Animals, trees, flying creatures. These are all in the world, God made them. Why should I not love what God has made? Augustine carries on with; all persons want to be happy; and no persons are happy who do not have what they want. From this statement, he proceeds with questioning what a person should obtain to achieve happiness since happiness is a matter of having what one wants in order to be happy. A turning point can be described as a dramatic change in life that might change someone s life forever by letting them face a life changing event. In the autobiography I Never Had It Made by Jackie Robinson, the memoir Warriors Don t Cry by Melba Pattillo Beals, and the article The Father of Chinese Aviation by Rebecca Maksel, the people introduced in the stories all faced turning points in their lives that had impacted on them greatly. In all these three pieces of text, the people introduced in the stories had fought through racial tension and worked hard in order to accomplish their success and faced the life changing experiences in their lives. They not only impacted on themselves, but also on their country and society. Jackie Robinson s life changed when he became the first black man to play in the World Series and Major League Baseball during a time of segregation in the United States. These life changing events challenged him because he had to face racially tense crowds and endured threats from teammates, opponents and bigoted fan. According to paragraph three of the text, Robinson states, Some of my teammates refused to accept me because I was black. I had been forced to live with snubs, rebuffs, and rejections. This quote explains that Robinson had faced the rejections from some of his teammates because he looked different from them. Despite the racism he faced, these life changing events caused Robinson to grow and develop by making him proud of his accomplishments and appreciate the support, courage, and love shown by his supporters. Thus, we have the three metabolic pathways; the ATP/CP (creatine phosphate) pathway, the glycolytic pathway, and the aerobic oxidative pathway to continuously provide our bodies with ATP during any activity. Each pathway has a storage of ATP which can only rebuild so quickly. Once ATP depletes from one system the next system takes over. Comparison Of The Downfall Of Camelot Rome Was Not Built in a Day (But It Fell Shortly Thereafter) Don t let it be forgot, that once there was a spot, for one brief shining moment, that was known as Camelot (Alan Jay Lerner). Camelot is known as a place of wonder, and many have heard the wondrous tales compiled in its lore. From its golden age to its conclusion, Camelot has endured many iterations of legends, each using the events of the times to compile an expansive canon of stories. However, what is perhaps most interesting in these legends are the circumstances surrounding its downfall. In early versions, the cause of Camelot s downfall is invaders, mirroring the Saxon, Celtic, and later Norman battles for control of Britain. However, in any version following Tennyson s Idylls of the King, the cause of its destruction shifts from outside battles to inner affairs. The most well known iteration of the legend is presented in T. H. White s Once and Future King, which was later adapted into the musical Camelot; in these works, the primary reasons for Camelot s downfall can seen in the relationship of Guinevere and Lancelot, the story surrounding Mordred, and the actions of Arthur himself. One of the primary reasons for Camelot s downfall is the relationship of Guinevere and Lancelot.
