Analysis Of The Book Christian Travels
Finally he indicates the condition of man through the journey it takes to get out of the city. In the
story, Christian travels out of the city only to find that the path is almost as treacherous as the city
itself. First he falls into the Bog named the Slough of Despond. The Slough is not only very hard to
see, but the way though the bog is hidden from all travelers. In the Story, Help describes the slough as
being desolate because of the fears, doubts, and discouraging apprehensions that come to a sinner who
is enlightened (Bunyan 23). John Bunyan clearly illustrates a path that is hard to follow because
leaving sin is one of the hardest things to do. Bunyan confirms that he believes that sin is hard to leave
by telling us of his early hardships with temptations. The temptations of sin became so overwhelming
that Bunyan felt like selling his soul to the devil and after trying to say no he gave into Satan (Abrams
2134 2137). Then later in the Journey to the Cross, Bunyan also uses the character named World to
describe the many other hardships that come along the trail. Thou art like to meet with in the way
which thou goest wearisomeness, painfulness, hunger, perils, nakedness, sword, lions, dragons,
darkness and in a word, death and what not? (Bunyan 25). Clearly Bunyan wants to show that the
condition of man is terrible because of the awful problem of sin that pulls every person away from
God.
Next the writer uses the allegory of Christian s burden to enhance the

The Tragedy Of Ferguson, Missouri

Research Paper
November 25, 2014
On August 9, 2014, a young, unarmed, 18 year old, black man named Michael Brown was shot to
death six times by 28 year old, white police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri, a town just
outside of St. Louis, Missouri. Some say Officer Wilson was protecting his life, I call it police
brutality. The brutality has led to an uproar of all day protesting and looting, and cops and even the
National Guard are working double time to keep everything under control. There are many things that
led up to the shooting. At 11:54 am on August 9, 2014, Michael Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson
were recorded on a convenience store security camera leaving the store with a $48.00 box of Swisher
Sweet Cigars. At that time, a dispatch went out over police radio reporting the crime, a strong armed
robbery (Freivogal). According to Grandstrandlaw.com, a strong armed robbery ... occurs when there
is no deadly weapon used during the robbery (Frederick). With this in mind, we cannot assume that
Michael Brown had a gun. We can also not say that he may have had a gun, but just decided to not
show it to the convenience store clerk in order to intimidate him or her during the robbery. When
Brown and Johnson left the store, they had a ten minute walk to get back to where they lived. When
they were walking home, they were walking in the middle of the street when Officer Darren Wilson

Archetypes In The Film Big
Archetypes are a recurring actions or attributes that represent definitive events in a person s life or a
specific character. They are universal emblems in literature that correspond to various aspects of
human, behavior, and culture. They are usually incorporated, by writers to symbolize relationships
between divergent charterers, situations or symbolically natural opposites. They are a major factor in
writing literature because they help shape a piece of literature. Archetypes are a major part they help
illuminate the purpose of different characters and bonds between each other. The film Big is a classic
film due to, the captivating idea of turning a boy into a man and the use of specific archetypes such as
mentors, earth mother, star crossed lovers and much more. It also is an excellent presentation of the
archetypical cycle. The Archetypical cycle is a movement of change in which a protagonist or a whole

The Beauty Of The Beholder
An all too familiar phrase Beauty is in the eye of the beholder has been blanketed in the minds of
society throughout history. However, how much truth lies in that phrase or belief? If one is to examine
the nature of this concept, beauty first and foremost needs a specific definition. Beauty is that which
brings enjoyment to the person who observes or contemplates. The answer may seem self evident
when examining different cultures around the world. Ethiopian women for example, wear a lower lip
clay plate to represent social class and beauty within the tribe; the bigger, the more admirable.
Astonishingly enough, any woman in the United States seen wearing a lower lip clay plate would
reach an extremely high level of deviance. However, there are none to argue against the unexplainable
beauty of the Swiss Alps. In re evaluation the over used cliché, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
raises room for debate, discussion, and consideration. In order to comprehend beauty in an objective
form versus a subjective form, the difference between the two need clarification. Objective truths are
based on facts pertaining to the physical and material world. Primary qualities for example, are
objective. The size, shape, and motion of a substance remain true whether or not there is someone
present to perceive these things. On the other hand, secondary qualities are subjective. Subjectivity
requires a perceiver to perceive the affects of a given substance. Sound, taste, color and smell

The Pros And Cons Of Welfare Reform
Welfare, it is on just about everyones mind, whether it is Medicare or the A.F.D.C. Some believe there
is too much and others think there is too little. As the years go by, the need for welfare reform
increases. President Clinton had pledged in his 1992 campaign to quot;end welfare as we know it
quot;. Only time will tell by what extremes welfare will change.
As technology continues to increase and jobs continue to go overseas, the United States must decide
what direction the welfare system should take. As they exist today, welfare systems are an evolution of
the thoughts laid out in the 19th and 20th centuries. Before the Industrial Revolution, the
responsibility of helping the poor was mainly given to the churches or local ... Show more content on

An example of how food stamps are distributed is given by the Congressional Digest, quot;A four
person household with countable income below the federal poverty guidelines and specified assets of
less than $20,000 qualifies for up to about $380 worth of food stamps monthly. quot; Finally the
Supplemental Security Income provides benefits to the elderly (over 65 years of age), blind, and the
permanently disabled. The service pays $446 per month to each individual as long as their income are
below pre set levels by the government. Since 1974 when the program was started, the cost of running
the program has grown from $4 billion to $25 billion, only 20 years later (Robinson, 166 168).
The definition of the Welfare State is very important in fully understanding the problems and issues of
the Welfare debate. Arthur J. Schlesinger, Jr. a member of the Kennedy administration and historian
had this to say about the Welfare State: Briefly, it is a system wherein government agrees to
underwrite certain levels of employment, income, education, medical aid, social security, and housing
for all its citizens.
The government does not try to do all these things itself; it seeks where possible to supplement the
initiatives of private society. But it does accept the ultimate responsibility of guaranteeing quot;floors
quot; in certain crucial areas, below which it conceives tolerable living to be impossible. And it will

Essay on Mezzanine Finance Explained
Mezzanine Finance by Corry Silbernagel Davis Vaitkunas Bond Capital With a supplement by Ian
Giddy
Mezzanine Debt Another Level To Consider
Mezzanine debt is used by companies that are cash flow positive to fund: further growth through
expansion projects; acquisitions; recapitalizations; and, management and leveraged buyouts. When
mezzanine debt is used in conjunction with senior debt it reduces the amount of equity required in the
business. As equity is the most expensive form of capital, it is most cost effective to create a capital
structure that secures the most funding, offers the lowest cost of capital, and maximizes return on
equity. Mezzanine debt has been around for over 30 years, however its use in Western Canada and the

Although it makes up a portion of a company s total available capital, mezzanine financing is critical
to growing companies and in succession planning in recent years. The gap in funding between senior
debt and equity is common for the following reasons: 1) accounts receivable, inventories and fixed
assets are being discounted at greater rates than in the past for fear that their values will not be realized
in the future; 2) many balance sheets now contain significant intangible assets, and, 3) as a result of
defaults and regulatory pressure, banks have placed ceilings on the amount of total debt a company
can obtain. While additional liquidity can be obtained from equity investors, equity is the most
expensive source of capital. Further, equity capital, by its nature, dilutes existing shareholders. As a
result, mezzanine debt can be an attractive alternative way to obtain much needed capital.
Capital Structures
While there are no hard and fast rules for optimizing a company s capital structure, companies that are
ahead of the curve use an efficient combination of senior debt, mezzanine debt, and equity capital to
minimize their true cost of capital.

The Work Of Belbin And My Personal Experiences
The work of Belbin and my personal experiences
The Financial Post (2015) stated teamwork is key to success; this is true in the context of building
careers as at some point you will have to work in a team, which is sometimes challenging. Steve Jobs
also believed in the importance of teamwork Great things in business are never done by one person
they re done by a team of people. (BusinessNewsDaily, 2013). There are many different aspects of
teamwork for example; skills, team conflict and group size. This essay reflects on my personal
experiences of working in a team. First I will talk about the literature of Belbin, describing key
elements about teamwork. Then I will assess how accurately the literature reflects my experiences of
teamwork. Lastly, I will look at what I have learned from the experience, by putting the literature and
my experiences into context. I have various experiences in team projects, which I will be relating to
the project that I recently took part in regarding leadership.
Belbin s 1993 book concludes that an effective team has members covering all 9 key roles. It is
beneficial to have a dynamic team that contributes a wide range of skills, whereby people will be
appointed on the basis of their functional roles as and when their skills would be needed (Belbin,
1993). Managing team conflict is also important as Belbin, (2002) argues that if a team were to reach
mutual grounds on each member s goals prior to starting tasks this would ensure the

The Role Of Women During The Athenian Society
Being female in this world means having been robbed of the potential for human choice by men who
love to hate us. One does not make choices in freedom. Instead, one conforms in body type and
behaviour and values to become an object of male sexual desire, which requires an abandonment of a
wide ranging capacity choice...Men too make choices. When will they choose not to despise us?
Andrea Dworkin
Abstract
This essay investigates the role of women in Athenian society, which will show the portrayal of
women and how Athenian men treated them. This paper will also go into detail as to whether a history
of women is possible in Athenian society. Additionally, showing the importance of civil rights,
marriage, sex birth, domestic roles, prostitution, priestess, slaves, children and death burial in the
world of Athenian women.
1. Introduction
To introduce this research paper, I would like to open with words of Muriel Rukeyser (Kossman (ed.),

Oedipus said, I want to ask one question. Why didn t I recognize my mother? You gave the wrong
answer, said the Sphinx. But that was what made everything possible, said Oedipus. No, she said.
When I asked, What walks on four legs in the morning, two at noon, and three in the evening, you

Indentured Servants During The Colonial Era
Labor in colonial America was scarce. Explain the development of using indentured servants for labor
in the colonies. Below are some of the items you may include:
Indentured servants? beginning and decline
Changes, problems, and issues with indentured servant labor
Unintended consequences of using indentured servants
During the colonial era, was it better to be an indentured servant, or a slave? In current day, one could
argue that both are preposterous notions, however for the time, was either beneficial for anyone?
Looking back on how to country developed following this time, through the years of slavery in the
civil war, it may look like the only people to benefit from slavery or having an indentured servant, is
the owner. Despite how either has looked throughout many of the eras of this country, being an
indentured servant had very good potential for benefiting the servant. One may ask, how could anyone
benefit from being a servant? Even though this may seem like a very logical question, to those
involved in this life style, it all made sense. Let?s take a look at it from their point of view. When early
settlers were attempting to colonize here in the new land, the first successful colony wasn?t actually
established by the English government. In fact, it had been the successful venture of a privately owned
business, The Virginia Company of London. This company was actually comprised of investors with
seemingly good intentions. Their end goal was to extend

Pearl S Buck s The Good Earth
The Good Earth, by Pearl S Buck, is set in China during the early 20th century, on a farm owned by
Wang Lung. Wang Lung is, at the beginning of the novel, a traditional poor farmer who works from
sunup to sundown on his field. He marries and has children with a former slave of the great House of
Hwang, named O lan; they have several sons and daughters together. By the end of the novel, the
family is wealthy enough to be called a Great House and because of this, his family is able to live in
luxury. Only one son, the third son, works as a farmer until he quits to become a soldier. This causes
the sons to think that the family s traditions no longer extend to them and that they do not have to
follow them. In The Good Earth by Pearl S Buck, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this, they do not think they have to adhere to the family s traditions of working the land,
respecting the Gods or filial piety. They can never know the real happiness that Lung gets as he walks
on his fields, like when he visits his land for the first time after the flood recedes and is filled with joy.
The eldest son does not realize the blessing of his first child being a boy; unlike how Lung buys eggs
to dye red and incense to burn for the Gods at the birth of his first son. The sons do not appreciate the
fair weather, for they do not care to thank the Gods for the good harvests it will bring. The sons also
do not have a respect for their elders, always bringing complaints to Lung in his old age. For all those
reasons, the words of Alexandre Dumas, from The Count of Monte Cristo fit this novel very well.
Those born to wealth, and who have the means of gratifying every wish, know not what is the real
happiness of life, just as those who have been tossed on the stormy waters of the ocean on a few frail
planks can alone realize the blessings of fair

Taking a Look at Structural Violence
Structural violence on the other is the type of violence, one experienced by the Adivasi because of a
national water dam project, the violence of nationalism becomes explicit both through the categories
of poor who are deemed appropriate to neglect and through the failure to help those who are not
considered part of the national community (Gupta, 19). In fact it would be more accurate to say that
the structural violence the Adivasi experience was due to State policies and practices, which came to
light because of the Narmada Sardar Sarovar Dam project. Baviskar describes the village of Ajanvara
a is remarkably egalitarian. Each man who is the part of the patriarchal lineage of the village has been
given cultivable piece of land meaning there are no landless farmers and no waged laborers. Baviskar
accredits Anjanvara s strong bond of reciprocity with neighboring clans and villages to intricate webs
of kinship and marriage. The reciprocity and collective sharing of labor or laah have an important
implication in the politics of honor in the Bhilala community. Being an egalitarian society, the Bhilala
community members pursue power and status by accumulation of symbolic capital. The tendency to
accumulate power through symbolic capital such as honor is done given the constraints of economic
ways of demonstrating it and because of the egalitarian nature of the community, but just because
nature of the society does not exclude women from patriarchal forms of power. The status

Anatomical And Structural Differences Between Arteries And...
Briefly identify and discuss the anatomical and structural differences between arteries and veins.
I found the differences between arteries and veins are their functions they provide to the heart as well
as their structure. Arteries transfers blood away from the heart into the periphery resulting in the
pressure of the blood in the arteries being high. Where as, the veins transfer blood towards the heart.
Arteries carry oxygenated blood distributing it in the periphery as the pulmonary artery moves
deoxygenated blood into the lungs for purification. The wall of an artery consists of three layers
machining it thicker than veins. The elasticity within the layers of the muscle allows arteries to handle
great pressures of blood within it. The thickest layer is known as tunica media as the other two are
recognized as tunica externa, and tunica interna. The vein obtains blood from the periphery and carries
it towards the heart. Veins are known to carry deoxygenated blood and transfers it the heart for
purification. The pulmonary vein is known to carry oxygenated blood. However, there are semilunar
valves found within the vein that does not allow retrograde flow of blood in preventing blood to flow
in the opposite direction. Veins are thinner when compared to arteries consisting of thin elastic muscle
layers with one thick layer being the tunica adventitia. Arteries consist of: carrying oxygenated blood

Southern Musical Tradition and the African Tradition
The second major tributary of the southern musical tradition comes from the African continent and is
the heritage import of the five million slaves brought to North America against their will to provide
the bulk of the labor in the pre industrial agrarian south. Contemporary blues, while not exclusively
black music by any means, remains largely black in terms of its leading performers and, to a lesser
extent, its listening audience.
The forerunner of the modern urban blues was, however, almost exclusively black and was completely
southern and rural. It was, and is, a music born out of the experience of slavery and Jim Crow

HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE BLUES
The blues, both contemporary urban and earlier country blues, occupies a unique place in the
American folk tradition. It is a cultural product native to the United States, yet produced by a people
who have historically been systematically excluded from the mainstream of American institutional and
cultural life. The process by which it has earned a place in the folk tradition is, to a large degree,
microcosmic of the struggle of blacks to achieve legitimacy in American society and history.
The southern region, home to the vast majority of black Americans from
1619 to the post World War I era, gave rise to a unique set of institutional and interactional restrictions
and imperatives which resulted not merely in a bi racial society, but a dual society or, to use M.G.
Smith s (1957:763 777) terms, a plural society. Such a society is maintained by several structural
mechanisms which are designed to accomplish a high degree of enclosure within one s ethnic group,
such as endogamy, residential restrictions, institutional duplication, and highly restricted relations with
the dominant group (cf. Pierre van den Berghe,
1965). The tone of subordination domination was clearly

Pros And Cons Of The Ontario Sex-Education Curriculum
Recently there has been a lot of debate about the new sexual education curriculum being taught to
children from a younger age and how it will affect them. Some people say that children are too young
to be learning this information and then how they use it will be in a negative manner. What frightens
most parents is that they can raise their children as they wish, but have very little control over what
other people do with their children (Wolfe, D. A. 2015, February 28).The Ontario sex education
curriculum is an necessary step to address the fears of parents that their children could be victimized,

Benjamin Levin (Ontario s Radical Sex Ed Curriculum).
The new curriculum that began in September of 2015 differentiates from the older version that was
introduced in 2010 which was shelved in 3 days after publically being shared. Both the one
documented in 2010 and 2015 are age inappropriate teachings. The difference is that Kathleen Wynne
has made the curriculum more explicit and more age inappropriate than before, and also increasing the
mentions of the Gender Identity theory, sexual identities and orientations (Rage, G. 2015, August 07).
Another explicit thing being taught in the new curriculum would be anal intercourse. It is being
presented in a way that students will interpret it as carrying no risk for STIs than vaginal intercourse,
this is misleading because it carries 3000% of a higher risk for contracting HIV in an individual. The
curriculum downplays the seriousness of contracting HIV, leaving the

How Does Measure Effectiveness Used A Conversion Rate...

an attempt to tap into the market. Between 2003 and 2011, Decathlon established multiple retail stores
in large cities across the country all the while competing with local brands and other large firms such
as Nike and Adidas. During this time Decathlon was preparing to launch their Chinese version of their

with social media advertising in an attempt to increase brand awareness with the online shoppers of
China. He approached brand awareness through two main social media platforms. First was 8264.com,
an outdoor activity website. Instead of fighting for add space on the front page, they placed there ad
on bbs.8264.com, the bulletin board and discussion area of the site. To measure effectiveness they
used a conversion rate based on purchase order per visit from 8246. While they were targeting a
fantastic demo graphic, they discovered that they could generate brand awareness, but unfortunate
they had a low conversion rate. The individuals on the site seemed to be focused on social aspects, not

turns into a huge lesson of not being stubborn, and listening to those around him as he decides to make

The Scopes Monkey Trial
Ever since science began to explain the previously unexplainable, it has caused conflicts with religion.
The Scopes Monkey Trial of Dayton, Tennessee was one of the most talked about trials in history
because it was one of the first and most publicized times that this conflict occurred. The trial showed
the schism between the faithful fundamentalists and the newly formed group of evolutionists.
Although the jury was reminded that they only had to decide if Scopes had broken the law, the verdict
was seen as much more than that. For one of the first times in history, it seemed as if the jury had to
choose either religion or evolution. For the time being, there could not be both. The Scopes Monkey
Trial revealed the ongoing conflict with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That May, the American Civil Liberties Union put an ad in the newspaper looking for a teacher to
challenge the law. John Scopes was asked to volunteer, and he agreed. The trial involved attorneys
William Jennings Bryan and Clarence Darrow and lasted over a week, the courtroom constantly
overflowing with people and the witness examinations including many heated debates. (Adams) The
case, meant to decide if Scopes broke the law, diverged from its original intention as the witnesses
began to speak about the constitutionality of the law, questioning the legitimacy of the Bible. One of
the most well known of these examinations was the questioning of Bryan by Darrow about the book of
Genesis. After initially contending, Everything in the Bible should be accepted as it is given there,
Bryan finally conceded that the words of the Bible should not always be taken literally (UMKC
School of Law). The final decision stated that Scopes was guilty of breaking the law and was fined
$100. While this was seen as a win for fundamentalists, it was not the end of the battle. In retrospect...
Scopes forged a temporary break, not a full scale retreat, in the fundamentalist assault on modernist
thought (Gillon 171).
Starting with the Scopes Trial, many more cases have occurred concerning the teaching of evolution.
By 1928 every southern state except Virginia had debated or was considering legislation banning the
teaching of evolution in the

Sleeping with the Enemy
In the movie Sleeping With the Enemy, Laura Burns, is living a life that many would describe as
perfect. Laura lives in a beautiful mansion on the coast with her handsome, wealthy husband Martin.
This wealth allows Laura the opportunity to stay at home rather than working outside of the home.
However, behind closed doors this perfect life is very different from what the outside world sees.
Laura is constantly being beaten, ridiculed, and criticized by her husband. Martin is obsessed about
keeping the house in perfect order. He is easily set off by simple things such as a towel being out of
line, or a can out of place in the cupboard. Upon him discovering that things are out of order, he
resorts to severely beating Laura. The only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of the reasons behind why Laura does things the way that she does, I believe that this
movie accurately portrays this issue that is faced by survivors of spousal abuse. However, one area
that I don t believe the movie touched on enough was the psychological problems associated with
survivors of spousal abuse. Walllace discusses that often woman suffer from such things as
posttraumatic stress syndrome, depression and other symptoms that inhibit their ability to function
within society. In addition the Department of Justice Canada states that abuse may affect virtually
every aspect of an abused person s life. It can harm their physical and mental health, their ability to
work, and their relationship with their children and loved ones In this movie Laura does not appear to
be suffering from such things, in fact she seems to be coping very well, with the exception of the not
trusting others, and not wanting to enter into another relationship. These mental issues are an
important part of spousal abuse that I feel should have been portrayed more in this movie, in order for
the audience to fully understand the wide variety of possible consequences of abuse. When looking at
how this movie portrays Martin, I believe that it covers some very common areas that can lead to
spousal abuse. First

The treatment of mental illness has gone through many reforms over the years. Stemming from some
of the earliest documented cases of treatment such as trephination in 5000 B.C. to the opening of
mental asylums starting in the late 1300s to the development of the modern healthcare system.
Through the 1800s until now, major developments in mental health treatment include the evolution of
the mental asylum, widespread psychopharmacology, and psychotherapy treatments. Primarily
focusing on the treatment methods of the past two hundred or so years, the United States of America
has made leaps and bounds to provide humane treatment to aid those in need. The most famous mental

in the deinstitutionalization movement (Nevid, Rathus, Green, 2014). This was a push to remove
patients from state run hospitals into a more community based treatment center. In most cases today,
there are treatment plans in place depending upon the severity of the disorder an individual may be

Love and Prowess in The Knight with the Lion Essay
Love and Prowess in The Knight with the Lion
The chivalric ideal demanded many things of a knight. To the military ideals of prowess, loyalty, and
honor it added the aristocratic ideal of largesse and, with the rise of the troubadour lyrics and
romances, the ideal of courtly love. At times a knight could find these demands in conflict with one
another. Such is the case with Chrétien de Troyes s romance The Knight with the Lion. In this story,
the hero Yvain finds love while pursuing prowess; but, continuing to pursue prowess, he loses that
love. In the adventures that follow, he seeks to regain his love. In so doing, he develops true prowess
without aiming for it and learns to reconcile chivalry s demands of love and prowess, ... Show more

Yvain s prowess is already great in this early part of the story, as we can see from his first two feats of
arms. In the first, he defeats Esclados the Red, the defender of the fountain, by whom Calogrenant had
been so disgraced. How good a knight Esclados defeated in Calogrenant, the story does not indicate,
only that he is a most agreeable knight (258). We may perhaps assume that, being a knight of Arthur s
Round Table, Calogrenant would have been a good fighter and his defeat more the exception than the
rule. Regardless of his abilities, however, Calogrenant s failure at the spring serves one important
purpose: it provides a backdrop against which Yvain s success there is seen to be all the more
impressive. To this backdrop is added Calogrenant s description of the spring s defender:
I thought there were at least ten. Yet there was only a single knight whose approach caused so much
noise and commotion....As though bent on evil, he was riding up faster than an eagle and looking as
ferocious as a lion....The knight had a good horse and a stout lance, and without doubt, he was a whole
head taller than I....His lance was not light but, in my opinion, weighed more than any knight s lance. I
have never seen one so large. (263)

Being raised by a rabbi in a large Jewish neighborhood, Isaac Bashevis Singer uses Jewish beliefs and

Distraction Of Technology Essay
The Distraction of Technology
While Technology gives us many opportunities, it is a major distraction because it causes distractions

opportunities technology gives us, why are we so distracted? How does it affect students learning

Alaska Fish Trap Essay
The use of fish traps in the 1950s almost completely depleted salmon runs in some areas of Alaska. A
fish trap is a big, fixed wooden structure, placed at the mouth of a stream to funnel to tons of fish into
a massive net. Fish traps were also adapted to float so they could be a little bit easier to transfer in the
winter. Fish traps needed little labor to keep them running, and they also kept the fish live which was
important to the seller, which made them a good economic investment. The extensive use of the fish
traps, and other fixed fishing gear heavily impacted the region and the Native people of Alaska. Fish
traps were a very controversial topic throughout Alaska in the 50 s and 60 s. These fixed fish traps
were extremely efficient, catching almost 600,000 fish annually and, they had a very low escape rate.
Fish traps caught so many salmon that areas were completely depleted, and left Native villages
without one of their main sources of food. The result of the residents of Alaska unhappiness with fish
traps made the White Act of 1924 come into play. This act required an escapement rate of 50% off all
salmon, this means if you catch 100 fish you have to let 50 back into the water. The White Act also
included that the Secretary of Commerce can manage all of Alaska s fishing except for the access to
the fishery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When dealing with persuasion, the Reasoned Action Model is often used as a way to predict behavior.
The attitude toward the behavior, the social perception of the norm, and the perceived behavioral
control all influence one s intentions, which in turn impacts their behavior. Due to the fact that the
Reasoned Action Model largely relies on social perception to ultimately determine behavior, the use of
social proofing can be tied in to further strengthen the persuasive message of the YMCA. In order to
accomplish this we plan to bring in Aaron Rogers to visit schools throughout the Wisconsin area and

Conclusion Of The Declaration Of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was created in 1776 by Thomas Jefferson and the Continental
Congress. This document is a founding document of the United States because it created the
foundation for the United States government, established independence for the nation, granted equal
rights for all citizens, and gave the nation the ability to sell and trade independently. As a founding
father of the United States, Thomas jefferson was highly qualified to write the Declaration of
Independence. Thomas Jefferson was elected by the thirteen colonies to draft the document because of
his intelligence, experience fighting in the Revolutionary War, status as the founder of the University
of Virginia, and role as the third President of the United States. Jefferson also studied at the College of
William and Mary in the practice of law. Although most believe Jefferson was the only person
involved in writing the Declaration, he actually had a team to help him, called the Continental
Congress. This team consisted of Benjamin Franklin from Pennsylvania, John Adams from
Massachusetts, Roger Sherman of Connecticut, and Robert Livingston of New York. Jefferson stated
unanimously pressed on myself alone to undertake the draught [sic]. I consented; I drew it; but before
I reported it to the committee I communicated it separately to Dr. Franklin and Mr. Adams requesting
their corrections. . . I then wrote a fair copy, reported it to the committee, and from them, unaltered to
the Congress.

The Issue Of Abortion And Abortion Essay
The issue of abortion is a controversial one; there are arguments on both sides of the debate. In 1973
the national case of Roe v. Wade, sparked political decisions that created a national right to abortion.
Further, Roe v. Wade declared that unborn children are not `persons nor are they entitled to the same
constitutional protection as `born children (Baird, Rosenbaum, 2001). However, Roe v. Wade did not
end the debate, nor, did it stop both sides for continuing the fight for their individual beliefs. On the
one hand, pro choice s believe that woman are entitled to have abortions. Stating that an unborn child
is under the rights of the pregnant women. On the other hand, pro lifers believe that a woman should
not have the right to obtain an abortion, stating that an unborn child is a human deserving the same
constitutional rights as a child that has been born. The political goal most frequently mentioned by pro
lifers has been a Human Life Amendment (HLA) to thus, reverse Roe v. Wade. The HLA would
declare unborn children to be persons deserving equal protection under the Constitution. From an
ethical standpoint, one can take either side, for not only these reasons but also many more that we will
further explore. I personally think that abortion is a decision that can only be made by the person in
question, and not between that person and the government or an HLA. We well first look at the overall
argument of the pro choice side. After which, we will delve into the

Over many years, genre has become an important role in everyone s life. Scholarly authors such as
Winsor, Pare, Berkenkotter, and Huckin, have noticed this trend and how it is important for people to

groups such as businesses, educational settings, and other discourse communities in which they all
were simplified to a specific standard within their group. These genres will facilitate activities, impact
social relationships, identities, and structure communities. It is important to know that not all
communities will share common genres; in fact, they might vary heavily.

HR Technology Reflection Assignment
29. Your grandma is having her annual osteoporosis checkup, which includes an iDXA scan. Six
months ago, she had a spinal fusion at L1 L3. Her clinician uses ISCD diagnostic criteria. How should
the scan proceed? If her clinician used WHO diagnostic criteria, would you recommend the same scan
procedure?
The scan should proceed using the dual femur and the forearm. Her spine would not be the appropriate
site to analyze. The dual femur and forearm should be used in this case because she has had surgery at
L1 L3. The rods and screws from the surgery, would most likely generate higher T scores and Z
scores, which will misdiagnose her analyzation. Moreover, her spine is not a good area to be scanned,
due to her surgery. Therefore, the clinician should still use ISCD to generate a diagnosis. If the
clinician used WHO I would still recommend using just the dual femur scan. WHO analyzes the
femoral neck. Therefore, the forearm would not be needed for analyzation with this particular
organization.

A Brief Note On The And Its Effects On The Environment
CHAPTER 4
POLLUTION DUE TO EMISSIONS
IC engines generate undesirable emissions during the combustion process. The emissions exhausted
into the surroundings pollute the atmosphere and causes following problems.
Global warming
Acid rain
Smog
Odors
Respiratory and other health hazards.
The major causes of these emissions are non stoichiometric combustion, dissociation of nitrogen, and
impurities in the fuel and air. The emissions of concern are unburnt hydro carbons (HC), oxides of
carbon (COX), oxides of nitrogen (NOX), oxides of sulphur (SOX) and solid carbon particulates.
It is the dream of engineers and scientists to develop engines and fuels such that very few quantity of
harmful emissions are generated, and these could be let into the surroundings without a major impact
on the environment. However with the present technology this is not possible, and after treatment of
the exhaust gases as well as in cylinder reduction of emissions is important.
4.1 AIR POLLUTION DUE TO IC ENGINES
Until the middle of the 20th century the number of IC engines in the world was so small that the
pollution they caused was tolerable. During that period the environment, with the help of sunlight,
stayed relatively clean. As world population grew, power plants, factories, and an ever increasing
number of automobiles began to pollute the air to the extent that it is no longer acceptable. During the
late 1940s, air pollution as a problem was first recognized in the Los Angeles basin

One of the television advertising strategies that leads to the highest product sales is to utilize effective
branding and represent products honestly and clearly so that the product is represented clearly in the
commercial. An example of this is Tony the Tiger for Kellogg s cereal. Tony the Tiger appears in
commercials as an animated character interacting with children in a live action world. To be able to do
this, Kellogg and other cereal companies spend millions of dollars annually in advertising. By having
characters like these, viewers are able to immediately identify what brand is being presented. Another
example is the Bounty commercial form Procter and Gamble. This commercial compares Bounty and
bargain paper towels by showing them being used beside each other. This Bounty commercial shows
that Bounty paper towels are 50% stronger and more absorbent than bargain paper towels because the
commercial creators know that consumers would choose the brand that is known as the strongest.
Bounty is a little higher priced, but the commercial indicates that a person can use the towels longer
than the bargain brand towels. These commercials make people aware of the brand and cause the
viewers to be more likely to choose it over others. Many commercials do not present their brand name
clearly, and this leaves viewers confused as to what the commercial is selling. For

The Bhagavad Gita Sparknotes
The Bhagavad Gita opens on a literal and intellectual battlefield. Arjuna, a warrior by caste, faces the
prospect of riding into battle against his own family. Unable to bear the thought of slaying his own
family, he offers his objections to the Hindu god Krishna. Krishna, in turn, introduces the concepts of
detachment and selflessness to Arjuna, arguing that while man must sometimes take action, he should
not relish the fruits of his action. According to Krishna, every man has his own dharma, or duty, which
he must seek to fulfill via selfless devotion. However, the Gita s conception of selflessness does not
preclude war, and the Gita also argues that mortal human lives, including those lost in battle, are
ultimately insignificant. As a warrior, Arjuna s duty is to fight, even when it means prioritizing his
dharma over deep familial concerns (Flood x). On the whole, the Bhagavad Gita supports just war in
the context of Hindu thought. The Gita depends on the Hindu idea of reincarnation. In Hindu thought,
nobody is mortal every earthly death continues a greater cycle of life. Krishna, with his eternal
perspective, encourages Arjuna to focus on this larger idea:
Death is assured to all those born, and birth assured to all the dead; you should not mourn what is
merely inevitable consequence. (12 13)
Krishna expands these ideas further, implying that death in war is not only acceptable but honorable:
If slain, you will attain heaven; if conquering, the earth is yours!

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Paper
Pulmonary rehabilitation has been clearly demonstrated to reduce dyspnea, increase exercise capacity,
and improve quality of life in individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. There has been
an increased evidence of the effcicay of pulmonary rehabilitation for COPD and other related
respiratory diseases such as interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, asthma, pulmonary
hypertension, lung cancer, lung volume reduction surgery, and lung transplantation (Spruit et al.,
2013).
Among the benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation are: reductions in subsequent hospital admissions,
reduction o the extend of functional decline, reduction dyspnea, increase in exercise performance and
improvement of the psychological levels.

This should be individualised and objective/subjective measures of benefit in place before patients
graduate, and reassessment at 4 weeks and graduation to independent gym training is a feasible
possibility (Bolton, Singh and Walker, 2013).
Resistance training in combination with aerobic training leads to greater improvements in peripheral
muscle strength than aerobic training alone(Bolton, Singh and Walker, 2013). To ensure strength and
endurance benefits in patients with COPD, a combination of progressive muscle resistance and
aerobic training should be delivered during a pulmonary rehabilitation programme (Bolton, Singh and
Walker, 2013).
Interval training and continuous training are equally effective modes of training in patients with
COPD. Interval and continuous training can be applied safely and effectively within the context of
pulmonary rehabilitation to patients with COPD. The choice of interval or continuous training will be
down to the patient and/or therapist preference (Bolton, Singh and Walker,

Univision News anchor Maria Elena Salinas, one of the most recognizable and respected journalists in
Spanish language media or known as the Voice of Hispanic America by The New York Times is
stepping down. And if you grew up watching Univision just like me this is a major shock. For more
than 30 years, she s anchored the evening news show Noticiero Univision, one of the nation s most
watched news broadcast, and co host of Univision s news magazine program Aqui y Ahora. Now the
next person up has big shoes to fill. Luckily for us, the new news anchor is someone we truly love.

In addition, Calderón will also serve as co host of Univision s primetime newsmagazine, Aquí y
Ahora. This past August Calderón went viral on social media for interviewing Ku Klux Klan leader
Chris Barker in his home in North Carolina for a special edition of Aquí y Ahora. Barker told
Calderón she was the first black person to enter his property, and went on to insult and threaten her
throughout the interview while she held her ground and continued to interview him. We are delighted
that Ilia Calderón will join Jorge Ramos at the helm of Noticiero Univision beginning next month,
said Daniel Coronell, president, Univision News. Ilia s professionalism and experience, together with
her personal charisma, journalistic integrity, knowledge of the U.S. Hispanic community and proven
appeal with our diverse audience make her the ideal person to succeed María Elena Salinas. We are
confident that Ilia s contributions will be instrumental in maintaining the standard of excellence that
María Elena and Jorge have set for the newscast over more than three decades and that millions of
viewers expect from Noticiero Univision every day. We welcome Ilia to the evening news and wish

Stop Smoking Patchs Not Work
WHY STOP SMOKING PATCHES NOT WORK
There are many ways to quit smoking these days, and most of them involve a form of nicotine
replacement. Nicotine patches are the most popular form of smoking cessation available on the market
today and it has really worked for very many people. But, given the high price of the note, making an
expensive gamble when you buy stop smoking patches because the chances are much less than fifty
percent that they will work for you.
If you have never used or even seen quit smoking patches, they are patch. This means that the

Kurdistan Workers Party Research Paper
The Kurdistan Workers Party
I decided to do my paper on the terrorist organization named Kurdistan Workers party from what I
have read about them they are a very interesting group, but violent. The main reason for their attacks
is to form a Kurdistan state within Turkey. Some people apart of this organization feel that Turkey has
oppressed their culture. They want to fight Turkish officials to prove their point. The group was started
by Abdullah Ocalan, a man who believes in Marxist lenist ideas. Abdullah now resides in a Turkish
prison but still has control over what the PKK (Kurdish workers party) does. First, Some history of
Abdullah Ocalan. He was born in Kurdish village in the country of Turkey. The city where he was
born was Omerli, Turkey, On the date of April 4, 1948. He is also known as Apo which means Uncle.
He was basically the guy who started it all. I am sure there were many before him with different
beliefs, but he was the guy who created the group to make a change for some Kurdish people. I do say
some because not all Kurdish people may agree with Apo, because of the violence the group portrays.
Ocalan s surname means avenger . The group can be said to be a terrorist organization by most
countries, and defiantly an enemy to Turkey. Ocalan was born to a peasant family in a village in
southeastern Turkey. He had vague political aspirations as a youngster. (Abdullah Ocalan) This leads
me to believe that being in poor family led him to want to change

Complications Of Functional Perception Patterns In The...
Introduction
The ability to generate category related representations for a limitless collection of visual contents is a
vital function of human brain (Chao et al., 1999). It is demonstrated that widely distributed neural
networks are engaged in the distinction of semantic categories, such as the ventral temporal cortex,
which plays a significant role in face and object recognition (Chao et al., 1999; Haxby et al., 2000;
Haxby et al., 2001; O toole et al., 2005). Accumulating evidence has suggested that differential neural
response patterns in human brain are closely associated with specific categories of visual stimuli
(Haxby et al., 2000; Haxby et al., 2001; Kanwisher et al., 1997). However, it remains unclear how the
functional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using multi voxel pattern analysis (MVPA), they found that the neural representations of face and
objects can be discriminated not only by activation patterns within the specific cortical regions that
maximally respond to one category, but can also be identified according to the patterns of nonmaximal
responses (Haxby et al., 2001), which provided us with novel insights into the neural mechanism
underlying the decoding of semantic categories.
While the MVPA method adopted in this study well characterized the features of the response patterns
associated with the semantic categories, it was computationally heavy. Also, it remained an open
question whether a simpler method univariate analysis will provide sufficient evidence indicating the
category specificity of the distributed neural representations in human brain. Therefore, in the current
study, I applied a straightforward univariate analysis on the original data of Haxby et al. s (2001)
experiment to further investigate the neural response patterns evoked by face and object stimuli. More
specifically, I examined whether the category related information was revealed by the patterns of
response across the whole brain space, and the activation in the functional localizer fusiform face area
resulted from face stimuli.

From the standpoint of the labor process, these functions can be grouped around the design and
assembly of printed circuit boards and related components, the final assembly of systems (called box
build) and logistics and inventory related work (Lüthje, Schumm and Sproll 2002). Contract
manufacturers are serving a growing range of product markets from Personal Computers and servers,
over Internet routers and switching gear, to communications equipment (especially mobile phones),
consumer products such as computer game or television sets, industrial and automotive electronics, as
well as space and aircraft electronics.
The wide range of manufacturing services and products that contract manufacturers provide
distinguishes them from traditional subcontractors, or board stuffers , in the electronics industries.
Whereas such firms perform labor intensive assembly processes strictly controlled by the brand name
owner (also called OEM), CM companies develop and manage complex production processes, often
cross national in scope (Sturgeon 1997 and 1999). Contract manufacturing is also different from more
sophisticated sub supply arrangements in the IT industry, particularly from Original Design
Manufacturing (ODM). As opposed to contract manufacturing, ODM companies own the

How Does Sherman Alexie Use Dark Humor
Owens also argues that Alexie s use of dark humor portrays the Native Americans in his stories as so
called savages which brings the thought of, why does Sherman Alexie use dark humor? Alexie uses
humor to address uncomfortable or confrontational subjects and in no way trying to hurt or
discriminate anyone while doing so. Humor is often the only way to address such topics. Humor also,
releases tension for characters and the person reading the story. When things start to get too intense or
overwhelming, throwing in a little humor could release the tension. Alexie used this tactic of releasing
tension in the story The Toughest Indian in the World when the main character and the fighter were
making love. Are you ready? he asked. I m not

The Hero Of Odysseus As An Epic Hero
Even Odysseus Bought Bitcoin: As Ricky Martin once said, Amongst the qualities a hero should have,
I would include determination, loyalty, courage, perseverance, patience, focus, intrepidity and
selflessness . According to dictionary.com, an Epic Hero is a brave and noble character in an epic
poem, admired for great achievements or affected by grand events. In the epic poem The Odyssey by
Homer, the protagonist Odysseus displays the characteristics of an epic hero throughout his entire
journey home after battling bravely at the war in Troy. No matter how daunting the challenge,
Odysseus demonstrates heroic qualities as the god like person he is. Odysseus leadership and loyalty
allow he and his men to escape deadly fates, while his ability to be adventurous and brave helps him
to face foes along the way, and finally, his witty intelligence in every situation truly characterize him
as the ideal epic hero. Odysseus s faith and guidance towards his men are what accurately characterize
his as an epic hero. For instance, when they were sailing past the island of the Sirens, Odysseus
stopped the ears of my comrades one by one (Book 12, 193). Odysseus proves his skillful leadership
by protected his men from the siren s song, allowing them to harmlessly row past the enchanted
island. In addition to his experienced control over his men, Odysseus is extremely loyal to his men,
such as the time when 3 of his crew members lost their desire of returning home from eating lotus
fruit,

Animal Farm Followers
Animal farm is definitely a novel about leaders and followers. What lead me to believe this is how
napoleon becomes a leader through fear and how squealers propaganda creates the followers.
Napoleon overthrew any of animals trying to interfere with his leadership position. Squealer keeps
deceiving the rest of the animals into believing Napoleon is always right and they should work harder.
The innocent animal like boxer, are being fooled by propagandist and take advantage of them.
Followers are those who obey their leaders which Napoleon has accomplish through maintains his

Throughout the story Napoleon leads to role of being a leader through fear of the other animals. The

His speeches use persuasive wording in order to make them powerful to manipulate the other animals.

  • 2. Analysis Of The Book Christian Travels Finally he indicates the condition of man through the journey it takes to get out of the city. In the story, Christian travels out of the city only to find that the path is almost as treacherous as the city itself. First he falls into the Bog named the Slough of Despond. The Slough is not only very hard to see, but the way though the bog is hidden from all travelers. In the Story, Help describes the slough as being desolate because of the fears, doubts, and discouraging apprehensions that come to a sinner who is enlightened (Bunyan 23). John Bunyan clearly illustrates a path that is hard to follow because leaving sin is one of the hardest things to do. Bunyan confirms that he believes that sin is hard to leave by telling us of his early hardships with temptations. The temptations of sin became so overwhelming that Bunyan felt like selling his soul to the devil and after trying to say no he gave into Satan (Abrams 2134 2137). Then later in the Journey to the Cross, Bunyan also uses the character named World to describe the many other hardships that come along the trail. Thou art like to meet with in the way which thou goest wearisomeness, painfulness, hunger, perils, nakedness, sword, lions, dragons, darkness and in a word, death and what not? (Bunyan 25). Clearly Bunyan wants to show that the condition of man is terrible because of the awful problem of sin that pulls every person away from God. Next the writer uses the allegory of Christian s burden to enhance the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Tragedy Of Ferguson, Missouri Tragedy in Ferguson, Missouri Catherine Meeks CJSA1348 Research Paper November 25, 2014 On August 9, 2014, a young, unarmed, 18 year old, black man named Michael Brown was shot to death six times by 28 year old, white police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri, a town just outside of St. Louis, Missouri. Some say Officer Wilson was protecting his life, I call it police brutality. The brutality has led to an uproar of all day protesting and looting, and cops and even the National Guard are working double time to keep everything under control. There are many things that led up to the shooting. At 11:54 am on August 9, 2014, Michael Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson were recorded on a convenience store security camera leaving the store with a $48.00 box of Swisher Sweet Cigars. At that time, a dispatch went out over police radio reporting the crime, a strong armed robbery (Freivogal). According to Grandstrandlaw.com, a strong armed robbery ... occurs when there is no deadly weapon used during the robbery (Frederick). With this in mind, we cannot assume that Michael Brown had a gun. We can also not say that he may have had a gun, but just decided to not show it to the convenience store clerk in order to intimidate him or her during the robbery. When Brown and Johnson left the store, they had a ten minute walk to get back to where they lived. • 5. Archetypes In The Film Big Archetypes are a recurring actions or attributes that represent definitive events in a person s life or a specific character. They are universal emblems in literature that correspond to various aspects of human, behavior, and culture. They are usually incorporated, by writers to symbolize relationships between divergent charterers, situations or symbolically natural opposites. They are a major factor in writing literature because they help shape a piece of literature. Archetypes are a major part they help illuminate the purpose of different characters and bonds between each other. The film Big is a classic film due to, the captivating idea of turning a boy into a man and the use of specific archetypes such as mentors, earth mother, star crossed lovers and much more. • 6. The Beauty Of The Beholder An all too familiar phrase Beauty is in the eye of the beholder has been blanketed in the minds of society throughout history. However, how much truth lies in that phrase or belief? If one is to examine the nature of this concept, beauty first and foremost needs a specific definition. Beauty is that which brings enjoyment to the person who observes or contemplates. The answer may seem self evident when examining different cultures around the world. Ethiopian women for example, wear a lower lip clay plate to represent social class and beauty within the tribe; the bigger, the more admirable. Astonishingly enough, any woman in the United States seen wearing a lower lip clay plate would reach an extremely high level of deviance. However, there are none to argue against the unexplainable beauty of the Swiss Alps. In re evaluation the over used cliché, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder raises room for debate, discussion, and consideration. In order to comprehend beauty in an objective form versus a subjective form, the difference between the two need clarification. Objective truths are based on facts pertaining to the physical and material world. Primary qualities for example, are objective. The size, shape, and motion of a substance remain true whether or not there is someone present to perceive these things. On the other hand, secondary qualities are subjective. Subjectivity requires a perceiver to perceive the affects of a given substance. Sound, taste, color and smell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Pros And Cons Of Welfare Reform Welfare, it is on just about everyones mind, whether it is Medicare or the A.F.D.C. Some believe there is too much and others think there is too little. As the years go by, the need for welfare reform increases. President Clinton had pledged in his 1992 campaign to quot;end welfare as we know it quot;. Only time will tell by what extremes welfare will change. As technology continues to increase and jobs continue to go overseas, the United States must decide what direction the welfare system should take. Since 1974 when the program was started, the cost of running the program has grown from $4 billion to $25 billion, only 20 years later (Robinson, 166 168). The definition of the Welfare State is very important in fully understanding the problems and issues of the Welfare debate. Arthur J. Schlesinger, Jr. a member of the Kennedy administration and historian had this to say about the Welfare State: Briefly, it is a system wherein government agrees to underwrite certain levels of employment, income, education, medical aid, social security, and housing for all its citizens. The government does not try to do all these things itself; it seeks where possible to supplement the initiatives of private society. But it does accept the ultimate responsibility of guaranteeing quot;floors quot; in certain crucial areas, below which it conceives tolerable living to be impossible. And it will ... When mezzanine debt is used in conjunction with senior debt it reduces the amount of equity required in the business. As equity is the most expensive form of capital, it is most cost effective to create a capital structure that secures the most funding, offers the lowest cost of capital, and maximizes return on equity. Although it makes up a portion of a company s total available capital, mezzanine financing is critical to growing companies and in succession planning in recent years. The gap in funding between senior debt and equity is common for the following reasons: 1) accounts receivable, inventories and fixed assets are being discounted at greater rates than in the past for fear that their values will not be realized in the future; 2) many balance sheets now contain significant intangible assets, and, 3) as a result of defaults and regulatory pressure, banks have placed ceilings on the amount of total debt a company can obtain. While additional liquidity can be obtained from equity investors, equity is the most expensive source of capital. Further, equity capital, by its nature, dilutes existing shareholders. As a result, mezzanine debt can be an attractive alternative way to obtain much needed capital. Capital Structures While there are no hard and fast rules for optimizing a company s capital structure, companies that are ahead of the curve use an efficient combination of senior debt, mezzanine debt, and equity capital to minimize their true cost of capital. The Work Of Belbin And My Personal Experiences The work of Belbin and my personal experiences The Financial Post (2015) stated teamwork is key to success; this is true in the context of building careers as at some point you will have to work in a team, which is sometimes challenging. Steve Jobs also believed in the importance of teamwork Great things in business are never done by one person they re done by a team of people. (BusinessNewsDaily, 2013). There are many different aspects of teamwork for example; skills, team conflict and group size. This essay reflects on my personal experiences of working in a team. First I will talk about the literature of Belbin, describing key elements about teamwork. Then I will assess how accurately the literature reflects my experiences of teamwork. Lastly, I will look at what I have learned from the experience, by putting the literature and my experiences into context. I have various experiences in team projects, which I will be relating to the project that I recently took part in regarding leadership. Belbin s 1993 book concludes that an effective team has members covering all 9 key roles. It is beneficial to have a dynamic team that contributes a wide range of skills, whereby people will be appointed on the basis of their functional roles as and when their skills would be needed (Belbin, 1993). Managing team conflict is also important as Belbin, (2002) argues that if a team were to reach mutual grounds on each member s goals prior to starting tasks this would ensure the ... Below are some of the items you may include: Indentured servants? beginning and decline Changes, problems, and issues with indentured servant labor Unintended consequences of using indentured servants During the colonial era, was it better to be an indentured servant, or a slave? In current day, one could argue that both are preposterous notions, however for the time, was either beneficial for anyone? Looking back on how to country developed following this time, through the years of slavery in the civil war, it may look like the only people to benefit from slavery or having an indentured servant, is the owner. Despite how either has looked throughout many of the eras of this country, being an indentured servant had very good potential for benefiting the servant. One may ask, how could anyone benefit from being a servant? Even though this may seem like a very logical question, to those involved in this life style, it all made sense. Let?s take a look at it from their point of view. When early settlers were attempting to colonize here in the new land, the first successful colony wasn?t actually established by the English government. By the end of the novel, the family is wealthy enough to be called a Great House and because of this, his family is able to live in luxury. Taking a Look at Structural Violence Structural violence on the other is the type of violence, one experienced by the Adivasi because of a national water dam project, the violence of nationalism becomes explicit both through the categories of poor who are deemed appropriate to neglect and through the failure to help those who are not considered part of the national community (Gupta, 19). In fact it would be more accurate to say that the structural violence the Adivasi experience was due to State policies and practices, which came to light because of the Narmada Sardar Sarovar Dam project. Baviskar describes the village of Ajanvara a is remarkably egalitarian. Each man who is the part of the patriarchal lineage of the village has been given cultivable piece of land meaning there are no landless farmers and no waged laborers. Baviskar accredits Anjanvara s strong bond of reciprocity with neighboring clans and villages to intricate webs of kinship and marriage. The reciprocity and collective sharing of labor or laah have an important implication in the politics of honor in the Bhilala community. Being an egalitarian society, the Bhilala community members pursue power and status by accumulation of symbolic capital. • 15. Anatomical And Structural Differences Between Arteries And... Briefly identify and discuss the anatomical and structural differences between arteries and veins. I found the differences between arteries and veins are their functions they provide to the heart as well as their structure. Arteries transfers blood away from the heart into the periphery resulting in the pressure of the blood in the arteries being high. Where as, the veins transfer blood towards the heart. Arteries carry oxygenated blood distributing it in the periphery as the pulmonary artery moves deoxygenated blood into the lungs for purification. The wall of an artery consists of three layers machining it thicker than veins. The elasticity within the layers of the muscle allows arteries to handle great pressures of blood within it. The thickest layer is known as tunica media as the other two are recognized as tunica externa, and tunica interna. The vein obtains blood from the periphery and carries it towards the heart. Veins are known to carry deoxygenated blood and transfers it the heart for purification. The pulmonary vein is known to carry oxygenated blood. However, there are semilunar valves found within the vein that does not allow retrograde flow of blood in preventing blood to flow in the opposite direction. Veins are thinner when compared to arteries consisting of thin elastic muscle layers with one thick layer being the tunica adventitia. Southern Musical Tradition and the African Tradition The second major tributary of the southern musical tradition comes from the African continent and is the heritage import of the five million slaves brought to North America against their will to provide the bulk of the labor in the pre industrial agrarian south. Contemporary blues, while not exclusively black music by any means, remains largely black in terms of its leading performers and, to a lesser extent, its listening audience. HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE BLUES The blues, both contemporary urban and earlier country blues, occupies a unique place in the American folk tradition. It is a cultural product native to the United States, yet produced by a people who have historically been systematically excluded from the mainstream of American institutional and cultural life. The process by which it has earned a place in the folk tradition is, to a large degree, microcosmic of the struggle of blacks to achieve legitimacy in American society and history. The southern region, home to the vast majority of black Americans from 1619 to the post World War I era, gave rise to a unique set of institutional and interactional restrictions and imperatives which resulted not merely in a bi racial society, but a dual society or, to use M.G. Smith s (1957:763 777) terms, a plural society. Such a society is maintained by several structural mechanisms which are designed to accomplish a high degree of enclosure within one s ethnic group, such as endogamy, residential restrictions, institutional duplication, and highly restricted relations with the dominant group (cf. Between 2003 and 2011, Decathlon established multiple retail stores in large cities across the country all the while competing with local brands and other large firms such as Nike and Adidas. During this time Decathlon was preparing to launch their Chinese version of their site allowing for online sales. Aaron Zhou, the ecommerce department head, had been experimenting with social media advertising in an attempt to increase brand awareness with the online shoppers of China. He approached brand awareness through two main social media platforms. First was 8264.com, an outdoor activity website. Instead of fighting for add space on the front page, they placed there ad on bbs.8264.com, the bulletin board and discussion area of the site. To measure effectiveness they used a conversion rate based on purchase order per visit from 8246. While they were targeting a fantastic demo graphic, they discovered that they could generate brand awareness, but unfortunate they had a low conversion rate. Although the jury was reminded that they only had to decide if Scopes had broken the law, the verdict was seen as much more than that. The trial involved attorneys William Jennings Bryan and Clarence Darrow and lasted over a week, the courtroom constantly overflowing with people and the witness examinations including many heated debates. (Adams) The case, meant to decide if Scopes broke the law, diverged from its original intention as the witnesses began to speak about the constitutionality of the law, questioning the legitimacy of the Bible. One of the most well known of these examinations was the questioning of Bryan by Darrow about the book of Genesis. After initially contending, Everything in the Bible should be accepted as it is given there, Bryan finally conceded that the words of the Bible should not always be taken literally (UMKC School of Law). The final decision stated that Scopes was guilty of breaking the law and was fined $100. While this was seen as a win for fundamentalists, it was not the end of the battle. In retrospect... To the military ideals of prowess, loyalty, and honor it added the aristocratic ideal of largesse and, with the rise of the troubadour lyrics and romances, the ideal of courtly love. At times a knight could find these demands in conflict with one another. Such is the case with Chrétien de Troyes s romance The Knight with the Lion. In this story, the hero Yvain finds love while pursuing prowess; but, continuing to pursue prowess, he loses that love. In the adventures that follow, he seeks to regain his love. We may perhaps assume that, being a knight of Arthur s Round Table, Calogrenant would have been a good fighter and his defeat more the exception than the rule. Regardless of his abilities, however, Calogrenant s failure at the spring serves one important purpose: it provides a backdrop against which Yvain s success there is seen to be all the more impressive. A fish trap is a big, fixed wooden structure, placed at the mouth of a stream to funnel to tons of fish into a massive net. Fish traps were also adapted to float so they could be a little bit easier to transfer in the winter. Fish traps needed little labor to keep them running, and they also kept the fish live which was important to the seller, which made them a good economic investment. The extensive use of the fish traps, and other fixed fishing gear heavily impacted the region and the Native people of Alaska. Fish traps were a very controversial topic throughout Alaska in the 50 s and 60 s. These fixed fish traps were extremely efficient, catching almost 600,000 fish annually and, they had a very low escape rate. Fish traps caught so many salmon that areas were completely depleted, and left Native villages without one of their main sources of food. The result of the residents of Alaska unhappiness with fish traps made the White Act of 1924 come into play. This act required an escapement rate of 50% off all salmon, this means if you catch 100 fish you have to let 50 back into the water. Her clinician uses ISCD diagnostic criteria. How should the scan proceed? If her clinician used WHO diagnostic criteria, would you recommend the same scan procedure? The scan should proceed using the dual femur and the forearm. Her spine would not be the appropriate site to analyze. The dual femur and forearm should be used in this case because she has had surgery at L1 L3. The rods and screws from the surgery, would most likely generate higher T scores and Z scores, which will misdiagnose her analyzation. Moreover, her spine is not a good area to be scanned, due to her surgery. Therefore, the clinician should still use ISCD to generate a diagnosis. • 40. The Bhagavad Gita Sparknotes The Bhagavad Gita opens on a literal and intellectual battlefield. Arjuna, a warrior by caste, faces the prospect of riding into battle against his own family. Unable to bear the thought of slaying his own family, he offers his objections to the Hindu god Krishna. Krishna, in turn, introduces the concepts of detachment and selflessness to Arjuna, arguing that while man must sometimes take action, he should not relish the fruits of his action. According to Krishna, every man has his own dharma, or duty, which he must seek to fulfill via selfless devotion. However, the Gita s conception of selflessness does not preclude war, and the Gita also argues that mortal human lives, including those lost in battle, are ultimately insignificant. As a warrior, Arjuna s duty is to fight, even when it means prioritizing his dharma over deep familial concerns (Flood x). On the whole, the Bhagavad Gita supports just war in the context of Hindu thought. The Gita depends on the Hindu idea of reincarnation. In Hindu thought, nobody is mortal every earthly death continues a greater cycle of life. Krishna, with his eternal perspective, encourages Arjuna to focus on this larger idea: Death is assured to all those born, and birth assured to all the dead; you should not mourn what is merely inevitable consequence. (12 13) Krishna expands these ideas further, implying that death in war is not only acceptable but honorable: If slain, you will attain heaven; if conquering, the earth is yours! ... And withal, their arrows came flying amongst them...Thus it pleased God to vanquish their enemies and give them deliverance; and by His special providence so to dispose that not any of them were either hurt or hit, though their arrows came close by. He claimed God protected his people from the enemy. There has been an increased evidence of the effcicay of pulmonary rehabilitation for COPD and other related respiratory diseases such as interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, asthma, pulmonary hypertension, lung cancer, lung volume reduction surgery, and lung transplantation (Spruit et al., 2013). Resistance training in combination with aerobic training leads to greater improvements in peripheral muscle strength than aerobic training alone(Bolton, Singh and Walker, 2013). To ensure strength and endurance benefits in patients with COPD, a combination of progressive muscle resistance and aerobic training should be delivered during a pulmonary rehabilitation programme (Bolton, Singh and Walker, 2013). Interval training and continuous training are equally effective modes of training in patients with COPD. Interval and continuous training can be applied safely and effectively within the context of pulmonary rehabilitation to patients with COPD. The choice of interval or continuous training will be down to the patient and/or therapist preference (Bolton, Singh and Walker, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Kurdistan Workers Party Research Paper The Kurdistan Workers Party I decided to do my paper on the terrorist organization named Kurdistan Workers party from what I have read about them they are a very interesting group, but violent. The main reason for their attacks is to form a Kurdistan state within Turkey. Some people apart of this organization feel that Turkey has oppressed their culture. They want to fight Turkish officials to prove their point. The group was started by Abdullah Ocalan, a man who believes in Marxist lenist ideas. Abdullah now resides in a Turkish prison but still has control over what the PKK (Kurdish workers party) does. First, Some history of Abdullah Ocalan. He was born in Kurdish village in the country of Turkey. The city where he was born was Omerli, Turkey, On the date of April 4, 1948. He is also known as Apo which means Uncle. He was basically the guy who started it all. I am sure there were many before him with different beliefs, but he was the guy who created the group to make a change for some Kurdish people. I do say some because not all Kurdish people may agree with Apo, because of the violence the group portrays. Ocalan s surname means avenger . The group can be said to be a terrorist organization by most countries, and defiantly an enemy to Turkey. Ocalan was born to a peasant family in a village in southeastern Turkey. He had vague political aspirations as a youngster. (Abdullah Ocalan) This leads me to believe that being in poor family led him to want to change ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Complications Of Functional Perception Patterns In The... Introduction The ability to generate category related representations for a limitless collection of visual contents is a vital function of human brain (Chao et al., 1999). It is demonstrated that widely distributed neural networks are engaged in the distinction of semantic categories, such as the ventral temporal cortex, which plays a significant role in face and object recognition (Chao et al., 1999; Haxby et al., 2000; Haxby et al., 2001; O toole et al., 2005). Accumulating evidence has suggested that differential neural response patterns in human brain are closely associated with specific categories of visual stimuli (Haxby et al., 2000; Haxby et al., 2001; Kanwisher et al., 1997). However, it remains unclear how the functional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using multi voxel pattern analysis (MVPA), they found that the neural representations of face and objects can be discriminated not only by activation patterns within the specific cortical regions that maximally respond to one category, but can also be identified according to the patterns of nonmaximal responses (Haxby et al., 2001), which provided us with novel insights into the neural mechanism underlying the decoding of semantic categories. While the MVPA method adopted in this study well characterized the features of the response patterns associated with the semantic categories, it was computationally heavy. Also, it remained an open question whether a simpler method univariate analysis will provide sufficient evidence indicating the category specificity of the distributed neural representations in human brain. Therefore, in the current study, I applied a straightforward univariate analysis on the original data of Haxby et al. s (2001) experiment to further investigate the neural response patterns evoked by face and object stimuli. More specifically, I examined whether the category related information was revealed by the patterns of response across the whole brain space, and the activation in the functional localizer fusiform face area resulted from face stimuli. From the standpoint of the labor process, these functions can be grouped around the design and assembly of printed circuit boards and related components, the final assembly of systems (called box build) and logistics and inventory related work (Lüthje, Schumm and Sproll 2002). Contract manufacturers are serving a growing range of product markets from Personal Computers and servers, over Internet routers and switching gear, to communications equipment (especially mobile phones), consumer products such as computer game or television sets, industrial and automotive electronics, as well as space and aircraft electronics. The wide range of manufacturing services and products that contract manufacturers provide distinguishes them from traditional subcontractors, or board stuffers , in the electronics industries. Whereas such firms perform labor intensive assembly processes strictly controlled by the brand name owner (also called OEM), CM companies develop and manage complex production processes, often cross national in scope (Sturgeon 1997 and 1999). Contract manufacturing is also different from more sophisticated sub supply arrangements in the IT industry, particularly from Original Design Manufacturing (ODM). • 49. The Hero Of Odysseus As An Epic Hero Even Odysseus Bought Bitcoin: As Ricky Martin once said, Amongst the qualities a hero should have, I would include determination, loyalty, courage, perseverance, patience, focus, intrepidity and selflessness . According to dictionary.com, an Epic Hero is a brave and noble character in an epic poem, admired for great achievements or affected by grand events. In the epic poem The Odyssey by Homer, the protagonist Odysseus displays the characteristics of an epic hero throughout his entire journey home after battling bravely at the war in Troy. No matter how daunting the challenge, Odysseus demonstrates heroic qualities as the god like person he is. Odysseus leadership and loyalty allow he and his men to escape deadly fates, while his ability to be adventurous and brave helps him to face foes along the way, and finally, his witty intelligence in every situation truly characterize him as the ideal epic hero. Odysseus s faith and guidance towards his men are what accurately characterize his as an epic hero. For instance, when they were sailing past the island of the Sirens, Odysseus stopped the ears of my comrades one by one (Book 12, 193). Odysseus proves his skillful leadership by protected his men from the siren s song, allowing them to harmlessly row past the enchanted island. In addition to his experienced control over his men, Odysseus is extremely loyal to his men, such as the time when 3 of his crew members lost their desire of returning home from eating lotus fruit, ...
