Farrall
A young boy tracks down a gunslinger to help him get revenge on the people who
killed his parents and brother.
BRIEF SYNOPSIS
ACER THORPE (11) lives with his father, VERNON THORPE (36), his pregnant
mother, HOPE THORPE (24), and his younger brother BROGAN THORPE (8).
Acer wants to learn how to shoot a gun, but his father refuses. He doesn t believe
guns are the answer.
Acer runs into a gunslinger, BLAKE STONE (58), who helps him get back home.
Vernon recognizes Blake from a wanted poster. He has a bounty of $2000 on his head.
He doesn t want Blake at his home.
A businessman, MIKE FARRALL (55), who owns the town, including the SHERIFF
HUNTER, threatens to take away Vernon s farm unless he pays a fake bill.
Acer sneaks out of the home and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They share nice chemistry with each other. It s fun to watch when Blake taught Acer
to shoot. The audience easily root for the both of them.
The main antagonist, Farrall, is actually underwritten. He s definitely a worthy
adversary and the audience finds him to be despicable, but he goes missing from the
story after the murder and only comes back at the very end. Thus, he s not a very
consistent or relentless foe.
The dialogue is solid in that it s authentic to the culture and time. The dialogue reveals
information about the characters and their values and motivation. However, the script
does seem to rely a bit too much on dialogue, which also hinders the pace.
To sustain the tension the story offers various obstacles, but as mentioned, it slows
the pace and it s not directly connected with the main goal making the structure feel
fragment.
One would have rather have watched Blake and Acer track down the men responsible
for the family s death, one by one and get their revenge while overcoming obstacles.
Thus, in summary, the challenge in creating a compelling western is to find a new
hook to a familiar plotline. There might be something new about the characters that
help create a more refreshing hook. Try to create original

Introduction:
Viet Nam, a country with more than 80 million people, is a developing country which
is in the process of transition from a centrally planned to a market economy and
world economic integration. Besides common challenges facing developing
countries, Viet Nam is facing with greater challenges, i.e. the need to accumulate for
long term development and industrialization and modernization in parallel with the
need to urgently alleviate poverty and create social equality in differently developed

Miss East LA Analysis
What s In the Bag?
As I read Miss East LA by Luis J. Rodriguez I was touched and inspired it took me
back to where I grew up and my childhood in Downey. I use to live an apartment on
the Elm Vista Street by this abandoned NASA plant and film studio, which are now
known as The Downey Landing and The Promenade. My two cousins Isabel and
Bianca lived right down the street from me so we were practically joint to the hip.
From time to time, I would beg my father to sleep over their house. He was very old
school and strict, unlike my mother. He did not even allow me to play outside in my
apartment building. There was a summer day that I had convinced him to allow me
to go to Bianca s grandparents condo where Isabel lived as well. I must have ... Show

It took me three times to get use to riding a bike and after I got it down, we decided
to head out down the block to Independence park on the bikes. This was the only
park in the city that had a mix of a skate park and traditional park. We would
usually hang out in the playground since we did not skate. When we got to front of
the park we set our bikes down by a wooden fence that separated the grass area and
parking lot. Isabel and Bianca had rushed out to the swings and I did some
snooping around the park. I was always curious about my surroundings when I went
out since I did not have that luxury to be out or play when I would have wanted to. I
loved taking in the scenery, the beauty of the nature, and the flowers. They were my
favorite thing about visiting Independence park. I was walking around this fence that
surrounded the playground until I had reached the restrooms. I noticed this huge
brown paper bag sitting on this phone booth. I was secretly freaking out cause I
was curious to what was inside. My mom had always told me not be a traviesa
(naughty) and that I should never touch what doesn t belong to me so I rushed off
to Isabel and Bianca to tell them about the bag. I figured I needed some partners in
crime for this. When I got to the swings I was very out of breath I was a pretty
chubby kid growing up, but that still did not stop me from running, I enjoyed it a
lot actually. As gathered myself together and took in a deep breath Isabel yelled,
What is it? Why are you running so fast? I looked up to her and said, There is a
brown on phone booth just sitting there. It s so strange no one is here at the park
and it is just there. Why? She gave me a look as if I had said the most uninteresting
thing on the planet and continued to say, Okay? Why does this
My Responsibility To Volunteer At San Dimas Community
We all have a responsibility to volunteer somewhere and I m lucky that I get the
education and get taken to places to see what s out there and see what s happening
and to then be a part of it in hopefully an impactful way. Jennifer Garner. I believe
through this experience, I have been given the opportunity to experience something I
have never done before. This project has given me a reason to volunteer, and because
of this I would like to volunteer more. I choose to volunteer at San Dimas Community
Hospitallocated 0.2 miles away from my house. It was very easy to volunteer there
because I could just take a short walk and arrive at the hospital. Before I could begin
volunteeringat the hospital, I had to fill out a detailed application before. After
completing the application, I waited one month, before finally getting the call that I
was selected. After the acceptance, I was ask to go to a meeting, where we had to

people. It also will make you go out of your comfort zone and become outgoing and
talk to people. This experience improved my communication and social skills. I
like the fact that I was making a difference in my community and serving people I
didn t even know. I would definitely volunteer at the hospital again because it was a
great experience and I had a lot of fun being there. I believe everyone should
volunteer at one point of their lives and hopefully more often than that. The San

What Is The Spread Of English
Distribution of the English verb forms used to talk about Future Event The
development of the rules of English grammar were given from the every written
language. We always think about who has given impact or development of the
grammar rules, and who has made them. In most of the European countries, the
grammar had been developed in order to teach Latin, and because of that it had
became the Lingua de Franca in the western countries of Europe, because the rule of
the Roman Empire. And because of their presence, they had forced countries to study
and communicate in Latin language, and that why today the science, and medicine
generally are always taught or used in Latin language. Talking about English language
grammar impact, we automatically specify the West Saxon or Wessex dialect, which
it remains to be the very first English Standardised language of the written and
spoken, as it appears on books to be the Winchester standard that had been as an
important spoken dialect in the Monastery of Winchester, which it was also the main
city of the English Kings. During the fourteenth century, the England kingdom had
lost most of it dominion to the French, and because of that, the eminence or their
leaders lost the totality of their connections of the French speakers. Some of the great
writers like Geoffrey Chaucer and John Wycliffe the bible translator, they begun their
writings in the English language, which

The clinical name for the condition was known as hysterical paroxysm. The first
vibrator was invented be a British physician in the 1880s was a direct response to
doctors who wanted help performing this procedure to reduce the time factor.
(Jennifer Berman, 2005)
Everyone in that era did not consider masturbation a medical treatment. They
believe that masturbation led to a series of disasters such as: insomnia, exhaustion,
neurasthenia, epilepsy, moral insanity, convulsions, melancholia, and paralysis to
eventual coma and death. Dr. Lawson Tait stated in 1889 that the evils of
masturbation had been greatly exaggerated. His colleague did not share his same
ideas, Dr. Isaac Baker was a surgeon who treated women for masturbation by
clitoridectomy this procedure was also said to cure nymphomania, epilepsy,
catalepsy, painful periods and numerous other female disorders. (Studd, 2006) Sex
is not a dirty word as some may define it, but a pleasurable experience. Women must
learn to embrace their sexuality and enjoy it. They should embark on a journey by
touching themselves to find out what is pleasurable, and then teach their partners
how they want to be touched. A person s religion or spirituality plays an important
part on how they view sex. Abstinence before marriage is the religion world view on
sex. Sex outside of marriage is labeled as sin, and called fornication according
Theme Of Suspense In Hunters In The Snow
Like reality, fiction taps into truths of the self and relationships with others that are
often without recognition, due to refusal of acknowledgment of personal faults. In his
story, Hunters in the Snow, Tobias Wolff examines the power structure in the
relationship of three primary characters along with the power of their hunting rifles.
Through the literary element of potential chance, suspense is formed, an element of
fictionthat uses sympathetic characterization in order to create an aspect of anxiety.
He does so with the use of the literary mechanisms such as surprise, mystery,
suspense, and the exploration with every possible type of conflict. As stated in
Perrine s Literature collection, suspense is more important for commercial... Show

The comparison of commercial and literary fiction is endowed here through an
alternative plot line of the friendship. For example, the man on the seventeenth story
window ledge in another image, can be written about for commercial or literary,
however, the literary story would focus less upon whether the man will jump than
on the psychological factors and life experiences that brought him to the ledge in the
first place. The alternative plot structure allows for hints to a secret that Frank has
told Kenny previously and Wolff reveals only as your jailbait, but later, Frank
explains to Tub while Kenny is hurt and freezing in the car. At the introduction, this is
a widely unexpected turn out, since this is a literary story, it does not matter whether
Kenny arrives at the hospital, for the plot has concluded with the characterization.
The story ends without directions to the hospital while Kenny freezes to death
repeating his mantra that Frank told him to say, I m going to the hospital. The
incredible depth of characterization allows the reader to emote on multiple levels for
many different scenarios as Frank pulls into a restaurant to eat and discuss things like
trust, guilt, and a personal clandestine with Tub, all while leaving Kenny in the bed
of the truck, breaking all of the virtues they began with
Belonging To A Community Analysis
Belonging to a community is one of the greatest achievements an individual can look
forward to. In a scholar community, there is always a way to contribute and be
involved within the community itself.
To begin, one can give money as a form of contribution, however, giving time is best.
I would contribute most of my time to the scholar community by doing community
service. Due to my contribution in my own community, I have the experience to
help others, whether it be organizing a school event, class work, or giving food
samples. Helping someone is one of the ways I present myself to others. In addition,
I would enjoy giving tours about campus to visitors or to the upcoming Freshman
class that way I can familiarize myself with the younger class

However, as soon as Candy offers up his life savings for a down payment on the
property, George s vision of the farm becomes even more real. Described in rustic
but lyrical language, the farm is the fuel that keeps the men going. Life is hard for
the men on the ranch and yields few rewards, but George, Lennie, and now Candy
go on because they believe that one day they will own their own place. The appeal
of this dream rests in the freedom it symbolizes, its escape from the backbreaking
work and spirit breaking will of others. It provides comfort from psychological and
even physical turmoil, most obviously for Lennie. For instance, after Curley beats
him, Lennie returns to the idea of tending his rabbits to soothe his pain. Under
their current circumstances, the men must toil to satisfy the boss or his son,
Curley, but they dream of a time when their work will be easy and determined by
themselves only. George s words describe a timeless, typically American dream of
liberty, self reliance, and the ability to pursue happiness. 3. A guy sets alone out

Genetics Of Families With Alzheimer s Disease
Similarly, another study focusing on several families with EOAD identified a
locus on chromosome 14 that is linked with Alzheimer s disease, which was shown
to be an autosomal dominant trait (Schellenberg et al., 1992). Figure 3 illustrates
the map of the chromosome 14 markers. D14S43 was found to be a strongly
positive marker in chromosome 14 for EOAD (Schellenberg et al., 1992). This
illustrates that, although chromosome 21 if often the main focus of AD researchers,
chromosome 14 also plays a large role in the development of the disease. In
summary, chromosome 21 holds the loci responsible for APP and AОІ, causing it to
be a main genetic factor in the development of EOAD. Nevertheless, chromosome
14 also is responsible for the autosomal dominant trait in FAD. Several mechanisms
are present that lead to the development of AD in the genetics of families with a
history of this disorder. This may lead to more difficult treatments for FAD.
Objective 3: Epigenetic Causes Although genetics do play a large role in EOAD,
late onset Alzheimer s disease (LOAD) seems to be influenced more by epigenetic
drifts. Unlike EOAD, LOAD appears somewhat sporadically and displays many non
Mendelian characteristics. These include, but are not limited to, low patterns of
familial diagnosis, unequal susceptibility in men and women, and a variance in DNA
methylation (which plays a larger role in epigenetic modifications) between non AD
and AD subjects (Wang et al., 2008). This suggests that
Daniel Story Erika Quotes
In the book Daniel Story, by Carol Matas, the character Erika is admirable because
she is creative, determined and above all she is brave. Erika is someone I would
look up to. She goes through a lot, she still survives the Nazi s, but dies from
illness. Erika is creative because she makes her own music. In Lodz she had her
own violin and played her music in their apartment, untill the Nazi s took it away
from her. Another reason Erika is creative is because she came up with her own
speech in Lodz. The speech was very inspiring and even made Daniel, Erika s
brother, and Rosa, Erika s best friend, speechless. The speech read I m ashamed of
you, too. Don t you see? This is the way Nazis think. They believe that we Jews

Satire In Miller s Tale
Chaucer s tone comes forth as more ironic rather than direct criticism. Chaucer
overly satirizes the Miller s profession in order to manipulate the genre of estate
satire to hopefully spark public discourse. Miller understands the Miller s Tale as a
complaint aimed at the hierarchy of estates (Miller 147 48). For Chaucer s
purposes, estate satire illustrates hierarchical divisions and social function and
morality of each character type. However, the subtle portraits of Chaucer s pilgrims
bring out how difficult it is to form moral and social judgments because of their
dependence upon each other. Chaucer tries to save himself from ridicule by saying
he is only a scribe. In making the criticism of the estate hierarchy the Miller s

Every night, Absolon would go sing outside of Alisoun s window: Til he cam to

Absolon in the Miller s Tale seems ridiculous in that he delusional in thinking that
he could ever win Alisoun s love. However, Absolon continues to try and court
Alisoun in a fin amours type of manner. In terms of the Miller s ideas concerning
medieval social structure, Absolon s character presents a vehicle with which to
criticize the absurd ideas of love which the nobles idealize within fin amours
poetry. However, Absolon s late night courting obtains him no reward besides
kissing Alisoun s buttocks. Enraged by this mistreatment, Absolon runs off and
returns with a hot poker only to be met by Nicholas: And out his ers he putteth
pryvely / ...This nicholas anon leet fle a fart (3802, 3806). Absolon s misplaced
kiss subjects the audience to the Miller s base humor by mentioning fartyng in order
to outrage certain genteel sensibilities (Miller 153). Nicholas seems to get his
comeuppance along with the carpenter who was also tricked and injured. The ending
to the Miller s Tale makes the male characters look like fools, while Alisoun simply

How Descartes Tries to Extricate Himself from the Skeptical Doubts He Has Raised
[All page references and quotations from the Meditations are taken from the 1995
Everyman edition]
In the Meditations, Descartes embarks upon what Bernard Williams has called the
project of Pure Enquiry to discover certain, indubitable foundations for knowledge.
By subjecting everything to doubt Descartes hoped to discover whatever was immune
to it.
In order to best understand how and why Descartes builds his epistemological system
up from his foundations in the way that he does, it is helpful to gain an understanding
of the intellectual background of the 17th century that provided the motivation for his
work.

Descartes was a child of the scientific revolution, but felt that until sceptical
concerns were dealt with, science would always have to contend with Montaigne
and his cronies, standing on the sidelines and laughing at science s pretenses to
knowledge. Descartes project, then, was to use the tools of the sceptic to disprove
the sceptical thesis by discovering certain knowledge that could subsequently be
used as the foundation of a new science, in which knowledge about the external
world was as certain as knowledge about mathematics. It was also to hammer the last
nail into the coffin of scholasticism, but also, arguably, to show that God still had a
vital r_le to play in the discovery of knowledge.
Meditation One describes Descartes method of doubt. By its conclusion, Descartes
has seemingly subjected all of his beliefs to the strongest and most hyberbolic of
doubts. He invokes the nightmarish notion of an all powerful, malign demon who
could be deceiving him in the realm of sensory experience, in his very understanding
of matter and even in the simplest cases of mathematical or logical truths. The doubts
may be obscure, but this is the strength of the method the weakness of criteria for
what makes a doubt reasonable means that almost anything can count as a doubt, and
therefore whatever withstands doubt must be

General
The aviation industry of China began for around half a century. As a developing
country, the economy of China has a massive increase, but the strictly controlled
airspace and complicated regulation limited the growth of China Aviation. Recently,
new measures such as more efficient airspace approval process, have improved the
situation and giving hope that the market will rise. In fact, the market has rapidly
increased. As the China government giving ways to develop the aviation industry,
more and more have negotiated increased capacity with China, Australia is one of
them.
In the past 10 years, the demand of travelling between Australia and China keep
increasing at a high rate, especially after 2009 (fig 1) [International Airline Activity
Time Series. 2015]. Due to the rise in demand, major airlines such as Qantas China
Eastern and China Southern have a massive expansion in terms of no. of flights and
route network. With annual passengers of around 850k, China has become a key
source market for Australia. Airports are also trying to attract Chinese travelers. For
example, in Sydney airport every Chinese New Year, Terminal 1 would celebrate with
Chinese Themed declaration, launching simplified Chinese site and deployed
Chinese speaking Ambassadors to assist Chinese customers in Terminal 1. China
aviation industry is absolutely one of the largest and fastest growing economies. (fig

Comparison of The Hiding Place and Night Essay
The comparisons and contrasts between The Hiding Place and Night. Both books
were written with struggles, tenderness, agony, and fear in mind. Of these two books
only one comes out and realizes that what they have gone through was not a cruse
but some what a blessing from God, Himself. The struggles both face is more than
just man against man but it is also a struggle within to find who they truly are and
whom they truly believe in. Both main characters, Eli and Corrie, faced something
they never knew they could face but only one comes out stronger than the other.

The Hiding Place a story written with love and hope to share throughout the world
was written by Corrie Ten Boom who was not a Jew. Corrie with the help of Betsie,
her sister, and family helped hide Jews during the Holocaust. Corrie felt that she
should help God s people no matter who they were. Though Corrie felt she could
never love these people like her sister she tried everything possible. One thing in
the shop I never learned to do as well as Betsie, and that was to care about each
person who stepped through the door. Often when a customer entered I would slip
out the rear door and up to Betsie in the kitchen. Betsie! Who is the woman with
the Alpina lapel watch on a blue velvet band stout, around fifty? (Corrie 54) Even
though Corrie could never find a way to care for each person the way Betsie did
she still managed to help every person who walk through the door. Soon the
German police came to realize what her and her family was doing and arrested
Corrie and her family. While in prison at first Corrie had felt God had abandoned
them but it was her sister who made her realize that God never left them and his
love never left them this was a trial to see how much they loved and truly cared
about God. Out in the cold one day they undressed and are naked walking by guards
who are laughing and staring at them both Corrie and Betsie so humiliated
Benefit Of Medical Marijuana
The Benefits of Medical Marijuana Medical marijuana is extremely useful, unlike
recreational marijuana which causes issues within today s society. Medical
marijuana has many beneficial uses in the medical field and is often times
misunderstood by people today. Medical cannabis, although misinterpreted
sometimes, has many benefits to offer several people who are suffering from
illnesses. Medically, marijuana is truly valuable because of the wide range of
diseases it can be used to treat. Therefore, medical marijuana is beneficial because it
can treat a multitude of medical conditions, the symptoms of the conditions, and the
cannabis can give a person a better quality of life. Medical marijuana can and should
be used to treat multiple medical conditions. Medical marijuana has been used to treat
medically diagnosed conditions for quite some time. One source says, A physician in
ancient Greece, Dioscorides, noted that cannabis could treat pain, rheumatism, and
gout (Guterman, 2000, p.1). Therefore, this quote provides example that medical
marijuana was used in the past to treat many medical conditions and was seen as a
valid medical treatment throughout history as it should be today. Also, medical
cannabis has been used to treat conditions such as, Alzheimer s, Cancer, seizures,
muscle spasms, and quite a few more serious medical conditions (Piotrowski, 2016).
It seems that these medical conditions can be treated and managed with the help of
medical marijuana. Hence,
Public Health Surveillance Systems
Discuss the public health surveillances system in terms of: 1. What are the
requirements; 2. Its potential functions; 3. Potential ethical issues; and 4. Its
application/ usefulness in public health practices/ investigations.
Public health surveillance is the continuous, systematic collection, analysis, and
interpretation of health related data needed for the planning, implementation, and
evaluation of public health practice (WHO. n. d.). the following context will
separately describe the system in terms of requirements, potential functions, potential
ethical issues and the application in public health investigations.
пЃ¬The requirements
Organized surveillance requires collection of data, analysis of data, interpretation,
dissemination of data and link to public health action.
пЃ¬The potential functions
The function of surveillance are describing and supervising health events, priorities
setting, planning assistance, implementation and evaluation of public health
interventions and programs.
пЃ¬The potential ethical issues
The origin of significant potential ethical issues should be data collection and usage
of surveillance and registry data, including loss of secrecy and the harm result of
violation of confidentiality.
пЃ¬The application in public health investigation
There are three main applications in public health investigation. Firstly, supervising
health events include detecting sudden changes in disease incidence and distribution,
following long term trends and factors
Layers Of Airport Security
Identifying terrorists at airports is a very difficult task for homeland security
professionals since terrorists can blend in very well with the more than 650 million
law abiding passengers that travel every year via U.S. airports (United States
Government Accountability Office, 2014). The security layered approach is a security
strategy that helps reduce the risk of a terrorist infiltrating into an airport by
employing a wide range of tools and programs that can enhance airport security
(Hoggan, 2012). The numerous layers of security are designed to be able to
prevent, identify, and stop a terrorist attack in case one of the previous security
layers failed to do so (Cason, Lu, Schreckengast, 2010, pg. 88). Each security layer

This strategy allows DHS to be able identify suspicious individuals before they
even arrive to the airport. The names of passengers are being matched against the
database when the passengers book their flights prior to arriving to the airport, which
is more time and cost effective for DHS than having to identify suspicious
individuals among large crowds of people at airports.
As mention above, all layers of security have some weak points and the Secure Flight
program is not the exception. It may be very difficult for DHS to be able to
effectively screen suspicious individuals without disrupting the flow of passengers
since the screenings of suspicious individuals may take longer in comparison to
those passengers who do not pose a threat or are not considered suspicious.
Therefore to combat the Achilles heel of the Secure Flight program, DHS has
created the TSA pre check program. The TSA pre check is a program in which
passengers, usually those passengers who travel frequently, voluntarily submit
themselves to extensive background investigations and if the passenger is able to
meet the requirements posted by DHS, then the passenger will be allowed to go
through expedite screenings when they travel as the passenger will be considered by

FAMILY AND KINSHIP
What family means... The family forms the basic unit of social organization and it is
difficult to imagine how human society could function without it. The family has
been seen as a universal social institution an inevitable part of human society.

John F. Kennedy Essay
Among his many honors as President of the United States of America, John
Fitzgerald Kennedy remains the youngest man ever elected to the office of Chief
Executive, and the youngest man to die while still fulfilling his duties. Serving as
America s President, John F. Kennedy held his office for 1000 days, dying November

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29th, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts,

That very thesis was later expanded into his best selling book, While England Slept.
As a youth, John F. Kennedy never sought a vocation in politics, but planned to
become a journalist. Joseph Kennedy, as head of the nation s Securities and
Exchange Commission and a U.S. Ambassador, coached his eldest son, Joe, to move
on and increase his family s political tradition. Joe and John Kennedy both enlisted in
the armed forces during World War II, John joining the U.S. Navy in 1941.
In 1943, while appointed to the South Pacific as the commander of a torpedo boat,
John Kennedy was nearly killed in combat when his PT 109 ship was rammed and
sunk by an enemy ship. The 26 year old Kennedy, though badly wounded, was able
to bring his existing crew through miles of harsh waters to shelter, an act which
earned him the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Medal for Heroism. Kennedy s injuries
seriously aggravated an old back injury, and although what proved to be chronic pain,
he returned to active duty and served until 1945. Kennedy s older brother Joe, the
successor apparent to the Kennedy s political tradition, did not endure the war.
Once stateside, John Kennedy was able to momentarily chase a journalism career as
a reporter for the Hearst Newspapers, but was steered into politics by Joseph

Mass School Shootings in America Essay
In our society today, so socially and technologically advanced, one expects to feel a
sense of security and comfort. However, this safety is lost due to the fact of many
school shootings occurring nationwide. It is not unusual to hear about these
shootings on television or on the radio. This issue has greatly impacted the lives of
young people.
If you turn on you television and look at the destruction caused from a flood or an
earthquake, you may think, quot;oh, another one. quot; Although it may shock you to
see the pain and suffering of the victims, it is going to happen. Is that the way we

However this is not the case. Thomas Solomen was literally a Boy Scout, who
went to church and didn t care for Marilyn Manson or Duke Nukem or any of the
other factors to be expected of a violent child. When he went to school that day
with plans of terror, he did it in way that was quot;less bloody quot; than other
shootings. Shooting from the hip, Solomen aimed low and after the rampage he
put a powerful .357 revolver in his mouth. The assistant principle talked the boy
out of suicide and took the gun from him. Thomas then collapsed into his arms
saying, quot;Oh, my God, I m so scared. quot; Somehow this shooting doesn t seem
as horrible as the previous ones because he felt not only felt alone and scared but
he said that he was sorry for the horror that he had created. Many of the preceding
killers laughed at their victims and had no mercy. Why did Thomas (or T.J. as his
friends called him) not quot;shoot to kill quot;? Maybe because he didn t really
want to kill anyone. The only signs to show why Solomen would do such a thing
was the fact that his grades were dropping and he had broken up with his girlfriend.
Teens like T.J. who are seeing it and hearing about it all the time through the media
are committing the crimes because of the copycat effect. I believe that he was letting
his anger out in the fashion that the other killers did. A weapon that takes lives seems
to be the new way out for them. The result

Nowadays automatic machines such as robots are extensively used in industrial
environment due to their distinguishing features. Despite the fact that these robots
are well developed there is always a room for improvement. Therefore different
techniques of controlling the robot can be implemented where performance can be
much more efficient and less vulnerable to errors.
The path following robot has a vast application, can be adopted on production lines
to deliver parts or used to stock and retrieve the load to and from storage racks.
Also in social care as well, to improve flexibility of disability scooters or even as a
cleaning robot. In addition the tour guide robot in museums could provide all

A number of useful projects are existing to managers liable for measuring possible
business needs. AgCredit s CIO must know that his job is getting harder and must

Essay on Gathering the Facts at the Crime Scene
The excitement of watching a beautiful well dressed medical examiner or forensic
examiner in stiletto heels hovering over a homicide victim is quite thrilling for
television. However, in the reality solving homicides is not as one would see on
their favorite police show. As mention previous, the intrigue with police shows on
television make it difficult to found a jury that have not seen those type show.
Therefore, the court system has a problem obtaining a guilty verdict because jurors

This task can be accomplished through forensic evidence collection. Once the
evidence has been collected, it must be preserved by maintaining chain of custody
to prevent evidence tainting. The evidence will be preserved until it ready for
presentation at the homicide trial. This paper will examine the major sources of
evidence that is required in a homicide investigation that will assist the prosecution
in obtaining a conviction in a homicide case. The Evident Blood splatter A crime
scene is a unique merging of science and the law. Crime scene investigation is a
process that includes documentation of the conditions at the scene and the
collection of any physical evidence that coul¬d give reference to what happened.
There is no typical crime scene, and the evidence found there will vary. (Layton,
2005) When there is a homicide at a crime scene, the forensic investigator will look
for evidence to provide an indication of what actually happen. Did the person kill
their self? Did the victim suffer at the hands of a criminal? The crime scene
investigator will look at blood platter evidence as source to gain knowledge into these
question. Blood splatter evidence give investigator a scientific assessment into
criminal investigation. When blood splatter or drip from the human body, its is
impacted by gravity and velocity. Therefore, it imperative to

#3 Ardipithecus has been discovered, an Ancestor that dates back prior to the
remains of Lucy. In the article written by Ann Gibbons and others, it dives into the
discovery of our most ancient ancestor and the clues given to us from all 110
remains that have been found of A. ramidus. First let me begin with Lucy whose
remains were found in 1974 and that dated back to 3.2 million years ago. These
skeletal remains gave us the evidence needed to prove that our ancient ancestors
were bipedal before evolving their big brains. After Lucy was discovered the
scientist found themselves with even more questions, such as, were any previous
ancestors before Lucy bipedal or did... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They found that Au. ramidus had very similar characteristics to Sahelanthropus
Tchadensis an ancestor that dates to 6 7 million years ago. Ardi had a foot that
was primitive and had an opposable big toe which was most likely used to grab on
branches. She also had a long and curvy spine just like humans. Its pelvis was large
like those of apes and had short and broad shoulders suggesting it had a lower
center of mass and could possibly walk on one leg at a time. But it is also thought
that it was still spending a lot of time in the trees as well. Thus, why it is thought to
be intermediate form of bipedalism it lived in both worlds, walking upright, and
climbing trees, equal success in both biospheres. Although Ardi is not the
connection to apes it still served to prove that the ancestor of apes was a lot more
primitive than we believed. There are still several questions to be answered in this
puzzle called our ancestry. It may seem that more questions arise as more clues are
found, but that is science, there would be no intrigue left if all questions were
Power Wheelchairs
If you just recently purchased a power wheelchair, learning how to take care of it
can be overwhelming but extremely important. Power wheelchairs are expensive
pieces of equipment that can last for a long time with proper care and maintenance.
Here are a few tips that will help you keep your power wheel running smoothly.
Read The Owner s Manual Although it can be tempting to just take the owner s
manual that came with your power wheelchair and throw it into a draw somewhere
and forget about it, try to resist this temptation. Set the owner s manual out
somewhere where you will see it and make a point of reading or skimming through it
with the first week or two of ownership of your new chair. The owner s manual will

In order for your wheelchair to function and work properly, all the nuts and bolts
need to be tight; if any of them get loose, it could compromise the integrity of your
wheelchair. Don t Pump The Tires Too Full You also need to make sure that you
keep an eye on the amount of air inside of your tires. In order to have control over
the amount of air that you pump into your tires, use a bicycle air pump. Try to
avoid the air pumps found at gas stations that release air at a high level of pressure.
This can easily cause your tires to over inflate and blowout. Try to follow the
recommendation in your owner s manual for the recommended psi for the tires on
your wheelchair. Keep It Clean Finally, you really need to keep your wheelchair
clean. Don t run it through puddles or let it get really dirty. Water, moisture and dirt
can compromise the electrical parts of your wheelchair and can shorten its lifespan. If
your wheelchair does get wet or dirty, try to wipe it clean as soon as possible. If you
follow the tips listed above, you should be able to keep your new power wheelchair
in great

it teaches kids that it is not a good idea to run away from home. Some horrible things

Oedipus the King
The ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle once identified the key ingredients of the
tragedies that his culture is so famous for. These ingredients include a character
with a fatal flaw, the realization of the fault for a particular problem and the final
sudden reversal of fortune. For many tragedies, the fatal flaw is demonstrated as
excessive pride, which usually serves as the driving force of the play s action. It is
common, even beneficial, to have pride in oneself, but when it becomes expressed
as arrogance or in defiance of one s fate, it is considered excessive and often leads
men to engage in activities that will lead to their downfall. Aristotle (1998) stated the
tragic hero falls into bad fortune because of some flaw in his... Show more content on

In the process of trying to avoid fate, he has committed some of the greatest sins
imaginable to him defiled his mother s bed, murdered his father and spawned
monstrous children born of incest. Rather than face the truth and unable to take the
severe wound to his pride, Oedipus stabbed out his eyes with broaches and walked
away from Thebes forever, thereby sealing his doom through further prideful actions.
The sudden reversal of fortune has Oedipus walking away from Thebes a blind,
homeless beggar rather than the respected king he should have been based upon his
more noble qualities. While this is a surprise, it is nevertheless a logical possible
conclusion to the events that have taken place. This concept is brought out to greater
extent in the film through the change in setting. Pasolini begins and ends the film in
a contemporary setting to when the film was made. While the play suggests that
Oedipus went wandering into the desert a self blinded beggar man, the film indicates
that he has been wandering a tortured individual for much longer than a normal
lifespan.
Thus, the elements of classic tragedy are carried throughout both play and film to
slightly different interpretations. In both, a fatal flaw within the character of Oedipus
drives his actions that eventually seal his own doom. Seen as it is throughout the
various elements of the classic tragedian format of first
Tobacco Companies And Responsibility Of Tobacco
Tobacco Companies and Responsibility
Tobacco companies should be held responsible for any smoking related illness or
death. The use of tobacco is the leading preventable cause of disability, disease, and
death in the U.S. About 1 in every 5 deaths in the United States is tobacco related
and an additional 16 million people are currently suffering with a serious illness or
disease due to smoking. For every one person who dies from smoking, about 30
others suffer from at least one serious tobacco related ailment. A typical smoker will
take 10 puffs on a cigarette over a time period of about 5 minutes of that cigarette
being lit. Therefore, a person who smokes about 1 pack (25 cigs.) daily would
receive 250 hits of nicotine each day. Nicotine is a highly addictive substance found
in the ingredients of a cigarette. Although the nicotine is addictive and can be toxic
if ingested in high dosage, it does not cause cancer in itself; the other chemicals in
tobacco are responsible for the related health problems. If tobacco companies are
aware their products are addictive and harmful, they should be responsible for
consequences that follow (National Institute of Drug Abuse).
What is tobacco? Tobacco is a plant that is grown natively in both North and South

The Tinker Vs. Des Moines Case
United States is one of the few nations that guarantees and protects freedom of
expression of its citizens. Freedom of expression is defined as a right to voice ones
beliefs and ideas without any harm. Under the Bill of Rights, the government has no
power to restrict these unalienable rights. The First Amendment is exceedingly
important to the liberty and freedom of individuals. It guarantees citizens the ability
to express themselves, worship, voice their opinions, and rally to situations they
disapprove of and want to be heard. A great amount of laws and cases pertain to
adults and their freedom. It is often unrealized that adolescents and teenagers endure
the same issues in their lives.
The Tinker vs. Des Moines case helped determined and interpret legal rights of young
citizens for the first time. A group of students made a decision to wear black
armbands to school to support a peace establishing agreement during the Vietnam
War. As a result, the participating students; Mary Beth Tinker, Christopher Eckhardt,
and John Tinker got suspended for their actions (Tinker v. Des Moines Independent

petitioners for a silent, passive expression of opinion , that didn t cause any
commotion (Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School Dist). The parents
decided to sue the school for disrespecting the student s constitutional rights of
expression.
The court decision was in favor of the students and

The evolving and transforming types and patterns of social and economic activities
are constantly calling for new penal controls and limitations and that new modes of

seriously arguable. 9
In the relatively recent case of RJR Macdonald v. Canada (1995), the Supreme Court

Bridges are an essential part of the transport infrastructure.
General Information:
A bridge is a means by which a road, railway or other service is carried over an
obstacle such as a river, valley, and other road or railway line, either with no
intermediate support or with only a limited number of supports at convenient
locations. Fig: Docklands Light Rail Bridge, London, England.
Basic features of bridges:
Superstructure
`The superstructure of a bridge is the part directly responsible for carrying the road
or other service. Its layout is determined largely by the disposition of the service to be
carried. In most cases, there is a deck structure that carries the loads from the
individual wheels and distributes the loads to the principal structural elements, such
as beams spanning between the substructure supports.
Road bridges carry a number of traffic lanes, in one or two directions, and may also
carry footways. At the edge of the bridge, parapets are provided for the protection of
vehicles and people.
Rail bridges typically carry two tracks, laid on ballast, although separate
superstructures are often provided for each track. They are narrow (about 2m wide)
and are usually single span structures that rarely span more than 40m.
Substructure:
The substructure of a bridge is responsible for supporting the superstructure and
carrying the loads to the ground through foundations. To support the superstructure,
single span bridges

  • 2. Farrall A young boy tracks down a gunslinger to help him get revenge on the people who killed his parents and brother. BRIEF SYNOPSIS ACER THORPE (11) lives with his father, VERNON THORPE (36), his pregnant mother, HOPE THORPE (24), and his younger brother BROGAN THORPE (8). Acer wants to learn how to shoot a gun, but his father refuses. He doesn t believe guns are the answer. Acer runs into a gunslinger, BLAKE STONE (58), who helps him get back home. Vernon recognizes Blake from a wanted poster. He has a bounty of $2000 on his head. He doesn t want Blake at his home. A businessman, MIKE FARRALL (55), who owns the town, including the SHERIFF HUNTER, threatens to take away Vernon s farm unless he pays a fake bill. Acer sneaks out of the home and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They share nice chemistry with each other. It s fun to watch when Blake taught Acer to shoot. The audience easily root for the both of them. The main antagonist, Farrall, is actually underwritten. He s definitely a worthy adversary and the audience finds him to be despicable, but he goes missing from the story after the murder and only comes back at the very end. Thus, he s not a very consistent or relentless foe. The dialogue is solid in that it s authentic to the culture and time. The dialogue reveals information about the characters and their values and motivation. However, the script does seem to rely a bit too much on dialogue, which also hinders the pace. To sustain the tension the story offers various obstacles, but as mentioned, it slows the pace and it s not directly connected with the main goal making the structure feel fragment. One would have rather have watched Blake and Acer track down the men responsible for the family s death, one by one and get their revenge while overcoming obstacles. Thus, in summary, the challenge in creating a compelling western is to find a new hook to a familiar plotline. There might be something new about the characters that help create a more refreshing hook. Try to create original

  • 4. Miss East LA Analysis What s In the Bag? As I read Miss East LA by Luis J. Rodriguez I was touched and inspired it took me back to where I grew up and my childhood in Downey. I use to live an apartment on the Elm Vista Street by this abandoned NASA plant and film studio, which are now known as The Downey Landing and The Promenade. My two cousins Isabel and Bianca lived right down the street from me so we were practically joint to the hip. From time to time, I would beg my father to sleep over their house. He was very old school and strict, unlike my mother. He did not even allow me to play outside in my apartment building. There was a summer day that I had convinced him to allow me to go to Bianca s grandparents condo where Isabel lived as well. I must have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It took me three times to get use to riding a bike and after I got it down, we decided to head out down the block to Independence park on the bikes. This was the only park in the city that had a mix of a skate park and traditional park. We would usually hang out in the playground since we did not skate. When we got to front of the park we set our bikes down by a wooden fence that separated the grass area and parking lot. Isabel and Bianca had rushed out to the swings and I did some snooping around the park. I was always curious about my surroundings when I went out since I did not have that luxury to be out or play when I would have wanted to. I loved taking in the scenery, the beauty of the nature, and the flowers. They were my favorite thing about visiting Independence park. I was walking around this fence that surrounded the playground until I had reached the restrooms. I noticed this huge brown paper bag sitting on this phone booth. I was secretly freaking out cause I was curious to what was inside. My mom had always told me not be a traviesa (naughty) and that I should never touch what doesn t belong to me so I rushed off to Isabel and Bianca to tell them about the bag. I figured I needed some partners in crime for this. When I got to the swings I was very out of breath I was a pretty chubby kid growing up, but that still did not stop me from running, I enjoyed it a lot actually. As gathered myself together and took in a deep breath Isabel yelled, What is it? Why are you running so fast? I looked up to her and said, There is a brown on phone booth just sitting there. It s so strange no one is here at the park and it is just there. Why? She gave me a look as if I had said the most uninteresting thing on the planet and continued to say, Okay? Why does this

The alternative plot structure allows for hints to a secret that Frank has told Kenny previously and Wolff reveals only as your jailbait, but later, Frank explains to Tub while Kenny is hurt and freezing in the car. At the introduction, this is a widely unexpected turn out, since this is a literary story, it does not matter whether Kenny arrives at the hospital, for the plot has concluded with the characterization. The appeal of this dream rests in the freedom it symbolizes, its escape from the backbreaking work and spirit breaking will of others. It provides comfort from psychological and even physical turmoil, most obviously for Lennie. For instance, after Curley beats him, Lennie returns to the idea of tending his rabbits to soothe his pain. Genetics Of Families With Alzheimer s Disease Similarly, another study focusing on several families with EOAD identified a locus on chromosome 14 that is linked with Alzheimer s disease, which was shown to be an autosomal dominant trait (Schellenberg et al., 1992). Figure 3 illustrates the map of the chromosome 14 markers. D14S43 was found to be a strongly positive marker in chromosome 14 for EOAD (Schellenberg et al., 1992). This illustrates that, although chromosome 21 if often the main focus of AD researchers, chromosome 14 also plays a large role in the development of the disease. In summary, chromosome 21 holds the loci responsible for APP and AОІ, causing it to be a main genetic factor in the development of EOAD. Nevertheless, chromosome 14 also is responsible for the autosomal dominant trait in FAD. Several mechanisms are present that lead to the development of AD in the genetics of families with a history of this disorder. This may lead to more difficult treatments for FAD. Objective 3: Epigenetic Causes Although genetics do play a large role in EOAD, late onset Alzheimer s disease (LOAD) seems to be influenced more by epigenetic drifts. Unlike EOAD, LOAD appears somewhat sporadically and displays many non Mendelian characteristics. These include, but are not limited to, low patterns of familial diagnosis, unequal susceptibility in men and women, and a variance in DNA methylation (which plays a larger role in epigenetic modifications) between non AD and AD subjects (Wang et al., 2008). Descartes project, then, was to use the tools of the sceptic to disprove the sceptical thesis by discovering certain knowledge that could subsequently be used as the foundation of a new science, in which knowledge about the external world was as certain as knowledge about mathematics. It was also to hammer the last nail into the coffin of scholasticism, but also, arguably, to show that God still had a vital r_le to play in the discovery of knowledge. As mention above, all layers of security have some weak points and the Secure Flight program is not the exception. It may be very difficult for DHS to be able to effectively screen suspicious individuals without disrupting the flow of passengers since the screenings of suspicious individuals may take longer in comparison to those passengers who do not pose a threat or are not considered suspicious. Ardipithecus Research Paper Priscilla Hernandez Professor Magginetti ANTH 101 06 May 2018 Article Review #3 Ardipithecus has been discovered, an Ancestor that dates back prior to the remains of Lucy. In the article written by Ann Gibbons and others, it dives into the discovery of our most ancient ancestor and the clues given to us from all 110 remains that have been found of A. ramidus. First let me begin with Lucy whose remains were found in 1974 and that dated back to 3.2 million years ago. These skeletal remains gave us the evidence needed to prove that our ancient ancestors were bipedal before evolving their big brains. After Lucy was discovered the scientist found themselves with even more questions, such as, were any previous ancestors before Lucy bipedal or did... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They found that Au. ramidus had very similar characteristics to Sahelanthropus Tchadensis an ancestor that dates to 6 7 million years ago. Ardi had a foot that was primitive and had an opposable big toe which was most likely used to grab on branches. She also had a long and curvy spine just like humans. Its pelvis was large like those of apes and had short and broad shoulders suggesting it had a lower center of mass and could possibly walk on one leg at a time. But it is also thought that it was still spending a lot of time in the trees as well. Thus, why it is thought to be intermediate form of bipedalism it lived in both worlds, walking upright, and climbing trees, equal success in both biospheres. Although Ardi is not the connection to apes it still served to prove that the ancestor of apes was a lot more primitive than we believed. There are still several questions to be answered in this puzzle called our ancestry. It may seem that more questions arise as more clues are found, but that is science, there would be no intrigue left if all questions were

  • 35. Oedipus the King The ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle once identified the key ingredients of the tragedies that his culture is so famous for. These ingredients include a character with a fatal flaw, the realization of the fault for a particular problem and the final sudden reversal of fortune. For many tragedies, the fatal flaw is demonstrated as excessive pride, which usually serves as the driving force of the play s action. It is common, even beneficial, to have pride in oneself, but when it becomes expressed as arrogance or in defiance of one s fate, it is considered excessive and often leads men to engage in activities that will lead to their downfall. Aristotle (1998) stated the tragic hero falls into bad fortune because of some flaw in his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the process of trying to avoid fate, he has committed some of the greatest sins imaginable to him defiled his mother s bed, murdered his father and spawned monstrous children born of incest. Rather than face the truth and unable to take the severe wound to his pride, Oedipus stabbed out his eyes with broaches and walked away from Thebes forever, thereby sealing his doom through further prideful actions. The sudden reversal of fortune has Oedipus walking away from Thebes a blind, homeless beggar rather than the respected king he should have been based upon his more noble qualities. While this is a surprise, it is nevertheless a logical possible conclusion to the events that have taken place. This concept is brought out to greater extent in the film through the change in setting. Pasolini begins and ends the film in a contemporary setting to when the film was made. While the play suggests that Oedipus went wandering into the desert a self blinded beggar man, the film indicates that he has been wandering a tortured individual for much longer than a normal lifespan. Thus, the elements of classic tragedy are carried throughout both play and film to slightly different interpretations. In both, a fatal flaw within the character of Oedipus drives his actions that eventually seal his own doom. Seen as it is throughout the various elements of the classic tragedian format of first

Freedom of expression is defined as a right to voice ones beliefs and ideas without any harm. Under the Bill of Rights, the government has no power to restrict these unalienable rights. The First Amendment is exceedingly important to the liberty and freedom of individuals. It guarantees citizens the ability to express themselves, worship, voice their opinions, and rally to situations they disapprove of and want to be heard. A great amount of laws and cases pertain to adults and their freedom. It is often unrealized that adolescents and teenagers endure the same issues in their lives. General Information: A bridge is a means by which a road, railway or other service is carried over an obstacle such as a river, valley, and other road or railway line, either with no intermediate support or with only a limited number of supports at convenient locations. Fig: Docklands Light Rail Bridge, London, England. Basic features of bridges: Superstructure `The superstructure of a bridge is the part directly responsible for carrying the road or other service. Its layout is determined largely by the disposition of the service to be carried. In most cases, there is a deck structure that carries the loads from the individual wheels and distributes the loads to the principal structural elements, such as beams spanning between the substructure supports. Road bridges carry a number of traffic lanes, in one or two directions, and may also carry footways. At the edge of the bridge, parapets are provided for the protection of vehicles and people. Rail bridges typically carry two tracks, laid on ballast, although separate superstructures are often provided for each track. They are narrow (about 2m wide) and are usually single span structures that rarely span more than 40m. Substructure: The substructure of a bridge is responsible for supporting the superstructure and carrying the loads to the ground through foundations.
