Tylenol
Towards the end of September of 1982, seven people died from a Tylenol product tampering on
Chicago s West Side. Before the events, Tylenol had over one hundred million users, and was a total
frontrunner in the pain killer industry. After the tragic events, Johnson Johnson, parent company of
McNeil Consumer Products Company which makes Tylenol, had to face the world and explain why
their highly trusted product was killing its consumers. (Markel, 2014)
The first announced victim was 12 year old Mary Kellerman. The girl had cold symptoms in the
middle of the night, so her parent gave her Extra Strength Tylenol and sent her back to bed. Next
morning, the young girl was found dead in the bathroom. That same morning, Adam Janus took

At first, when the tampering was not known, media focused on the sensationalistic fact that Tylenol
was killing people producing a negative image for the brand. But once the real cause was known,
Tylenol was seen as a victim of the circumstances.
Before the crisis, Johnson Johnson was not actively involved with press coverage, but when the
event occurred they appreciated the profits of media communication in order to reach out to their
consumers faster and more efficiently. Several major press conferences had place at the company s
headquarters. During the course of the events, over 100,000 news stories ran in U. S. newspapers.
A post crisis study done by the own Johnson Johnson company revealed that over 90 percent of the
country population knew about the Tylenol deaths within the first week. (Harris, et al., n.d.).
Experts were predicting an obscure future for the product. Advertising specialist Jerry Della Femina
stated that he was almost sure that a product under that name could never be sold again. Femina
was far from being right, since Tylenol took short time period to be back in the market, and is still
nowadays one of the selling leader of over the counter drugs in the U.S. (Kaplan,

Feminist Theory Of Neurotic Need, And Neo Freudian Psychology
Karen Horney is best known for her findings of feminine psychology, theory of neurotic need,
and neo freudian psychology. What attracted me most to Karen Horney was the relation I shared
with her suffering from depression growing up. It was her findings about life and her outlook of
recovering from depression that attracted her to me. She discusses the importance of everyone s
role in their own life on their mental health. Therefore, I appreciate her studies as I have been able
to apply them to my own life. Recovering from depression was not an overnight process. However,
I became in control of my own mental health in my life. Without knowing about Karen Horney
previous to my depression, she emphasized the importance everyone has in our own mental health.
Women psychologywas not prominent until women continued to formulate strong studies in
psychology. She went against a prominent male figure in psychology. Furthermore, Karen Horney
is a prominent figure in feminine psychology.
Karen Horney was born in Blankenese, Germany. She was born on September 16, 1885 and she
died on December 4, 1952 (Cherry, 2014). Her mother had four children with her father.
However, her father remarried and had another kid. Horney struggled growing up searching for
her father s affection. When her father remarried, he had a son named Brendt. Her father liked
Brendt more than her (Cherry, 2014). Therefore, it forced Karen to form a close bond with her
mother. At the age of 9 years old, Karen

The Influence Of Pornography
Simon Lajeunusse, a Canadian scholar who was wishing to research the impact pornography has
on young men, was unsuccessful due to being unable to find a control group of males who have
not already viewed pornography (Weiss par. 1). Although the typical pornographic videos streamed
via the Internet are what most people today believe to be the defining form of pornography, it is also
displayed in many other mediums and has been for thousands of years. Most people see the
word pornography and immediately assume the worst, but they do not know the true definition
or the history of the 11 lettered word. From its early forms of paintings on ancient Roman walls,
and risquГ© novels during the Renaissance, to the creation of photography in the 1800s, and the
booming of videos on the Internet in the 1990s, pornography has been through it all.
Pornography is one of the most controversial topics of all time, and because of its vast meanings
and forms, there are several differing views. The saying, Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, is
very relevant when it comes to the topic of pornography. One person s view of pornography could
be another s view of beautiful art; This is when the controversy takes place. Some people believe
pornography is harmful to women because of the degrading and violent acts toward them in most
pornographic material; Others agree but believe there are other forms of pornography, erotic
material, which could benefit a viewer and a relationship. Some think

Marriage Between Women And Marriage Essay
The Formality marriage relationships documented in this study all included four stages: 1): Men
Dang Hu Dui 2): partnership, 3): friendship, 4): kinship (as shown on model1: formality marriage
developing model in Chinese guanxi society). Even though nowadays homosexual people have all
the freedom and rights to choose their future husband/wife and register for the same sex marriagein
many nations, Chinese LGBTs Populations is another scenarios, due to the same sex marriage

is a rather controversial practice since it violates the core element of marriage based on love and
many other unknown risks may incur. The phenomenon reflects a deeply traditional culture that
demands young people to get married and have children to continue the family line when coming
to their marriage age. Some of LGs choose per formality marriage rather than deceptively marry a
heterosexual partner or become a center of discussion by not marrying. Compared to the other
alternatives, it offers a compensated way to balance the pressures from different aspects(Liu,

The Habitable Zone outside Earth Essay
The Habitable Zone
There are approximately seven billion people living on the Earth right now. Who can picture 1
million people, let alone 7 billion people? Yet the total incomprehension of it does not make the
fact any less true. Nobody has ever seen an alien or an organism that has not originated from Earth,
yet it does not make the prospect any less valid. Most citizens of Earth cannot imagine living
anywhere else but on this blue planet, but that should not make the possibility of it any less real.
Space, like the future, is always ahead of us, and no one can predict what it has in store for us or
what ideas will be found. Outside of the Earth, life in the universe is not such an inane thought as
was once believed. Firstly, there are a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The luminosity of the star plays a role on the length of the HZ as well. The more light a stars
radiates, the larger that star s HZ will be (Palmer). More light brings along more heat. As well as
luminosity, another variable is time. As times ticks by, a star s luminosity increases, and as it
increases the margins of the zone will expand. This indicates that, with time, planets within a HZ
could change (Lissauer). Then there is the Greenhouse Effect, a planet with a plentiful hydrogen
atmosphere might be able to extend its HZ. The Greenhouse gas would be able to absorb heat and
extend the HZ up to fifteen astronomical units (AU). One AU is defined as the distance between
the earth and the sun (Baalke). Though the range extended would depend on the type of host star.
For instance, G type stars, like the Sun would have larger HZ. In contrast, M type stars emit less
light and would have a smaller HZ (Redd Greenhouse Effect ).
Similarly, Earth also has variables that affects life. One would be the mentioned greenhouse effect.
This effect talks about greenhouse gases, with some examples being H2O vapor, CO2, methane,
ozone, and nitrous oxide ( Greenhouse Effect ). These gases, located as molecules in the Earth s
atmosphere, absorb mirrored heat from the sun during the day. If these gases were not there, then
the temperature after nightfall would

Ethnography Summary
After watching the video I realized how much of an impact English speakers have on an English
dictionary. I enjoyed the video and I think that the speaker explained her information about
adding words to the dictionary well. I try to restrict my acronyms and slang usage unless I m
talking to people who understand them seeing as they are not in the dictionary. I was taught that
whatever is in the dictionary are the only words that I should use. I m sure I heard a teacher say
once (or more) that you cannot make up words or that s not a real word. In my opinion, I think that

Why Is Characterization Important In The Veldt
Why is characterization important? Having realistic characters contribute in
connecting the readers to the story. In Sandra Cisneros Eleven and Ray Bradbury s
The Veldt, realistic characters are a product of the environment through the author s use
of descriptive writing with a forbidding or positive tone, use of literary devices and strong
character development. This indicates that characters are realistic regardless if the
setting is familiar or unfamiliar to the reader.
Author uses descriptive writing to characterize a person, thing or place in a way
that an image is created in the reader s mind. Tone plays an significant role in
descriptive writing as it can either be forbidding or favorable. In The Veldt, authors use
descriptive writing to help readers understand the unfamiliar setting. The narrator
creates an image of the nursery in a favorable tone by saying The hot straw smell of
lion grass, the cool green smell of the hidden water hole, the great rusty smell of
animals, the smell of dust like a red paprika in the hot air. (Bradbury 1) The use of
descriptive writing in The Veldt helps the reader understand and familiarize themselves
with the unusual setting which contributes in making the character seem realistic. In this
specific example, tone also contributes in helping readers understand the narrators
state of mind while describing the nursery. In Eleven when Rachel did not want the
sweater anywhere near her, [She] shoved the red sweater to

The Infamous Collection Of Lasting Mental Effects Of Warfare
The infamous collection of lasting mental effects of warfare has been classified as a disorder
known by many names: shell shock, Soldier s Heart, and combat fatigue. Today, this disorder is
classified as post traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. According to the American Psychiatric
Association s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, PTSD
symptoms include persistent nightmares, constant avoidance of trauma associated stimuli, and
emotional numbing that was not present before trauma. PTSD is unlike other mental disorders
because it is linked to a specific traumatic event, and it is often associated with combat (Institute 1).

Following the Vietnam War, research began to accelerate in response to the influx of suffering
veterans. The Vietnam War helped extend the study of PTSD because it led to the growing use of
media to raise public awareness, the establishment of large scale psychological studies on Vietnam
veterans, and the realization of the importance of accurate psychiatric diagnoses.
The Vietnam War profoundly affected many Vietnam soldiers after they left the homeland, and the
media had an immense influence on how these individuals were treated in America. The returning
soldiers showed all of the typical symptoms of what psychiatrists now understand as PTSD:
difficulty sleeping, an overly sensitive reaction to stimuli, and flashbacks. For instance, Sonny
Hartwell, a Vietnam veteran with PTSD, recounted the constant uncertainty he experienced
during the war, War is a strange thing. You spend so much time with nothing to do and the
boredoms of every day existence [sic] in a camp like setting and then all hell breaks loose. That
might last for just a few seconds, but the terror and trauma that you go through in just that minute
to few seconds can be mind boggling (Stein 12). Hartwell s story was one of many, and yet, early
editions of the DSM had very little information on war neurosis during the 1960s (Stein 11).
Veterans were often considered delusional and even misdiagnosed as LSD addicts,

Edelstein Cosmetics Case Study
Order 3 Edelstein Cosmetics Delivers Customer Service Tips For A Busy Office Setting
Anyone who has ever sat waiting in a busy office knows that it can be a tedious occasion that
gets on your nerves. What makes it worse is when the people on the other side of that equation,
the office workers, seem to show little concern for what s going on with the people waiting. This
is a common problem wherever people have to wait for an appointment of some kind. The wait
becomes practically interminable if the setting is inhospitable. And the bad impression it leaves can
make it so you never want to go back.
That s why the workers in the offices of service providers have to be always on the ball when it
comes to their customer service efforts, lest the office in which they work gets less crowded for
all the wrong reasons. People who have to wait for a decent period of time can get extremely testy,
which means that the patience of the workers can be tested in turn. But the extra effort that the
employees demonstrate can make the difference between a satisfied customer and a frustrated one.
At Edelstein Cosmetics, a busy medical center in Toronto specializing in cosmetic surgery and
treatments, that kind of extra effort is par for the course. But, according to CEO XXX, it takes
more than that to give patients in a sensitive situation the kind of tender loving care that eases
their nerves and makes them feel comfortable. What our staff concentrates on is a kind of
proactive approach to dealing with our patients, XXX says. If you let it get to the point where the
patients are coming to you because of their frustrations, you re already at a loss. You have to
search out the problems and issues patients are having instead of waiting for them to be presented
to you, and that includes when you re talking to them on the phone or by e mail, when they re in the
waiting room, or when they re at a treatment or consultation.
So what are some of the ways that this proactive approach might manifest itself? The following
ideas, followed by the Edelstein Cosmetics staff, might give you notions for your own busy office.
Seek Out The Problems
The idea of having an extra staff member, if it can be afforded, to interact with customers or

The Effects of War on Society
How is the subject of war perceived through a historical point of view? John Wilson approaches the
question of whether the subject of war is an important influence in his work And in the Morning.
Wilson proficiently demonstrates the influential importance of the subject of war by addressing the
historical perspective in his novel. The most considerable effects from warare to an individual, it
can change how a person thinks as shown in Wilson s work. Many soldiers experience dramatic
events in their life which they cannot handle mentally and sometimes physically as portrayed in
Wilson s work. As one of the main characters in the novel, Jim Hay experience a traumatic event,
where he nearly loses his mind and starts hallucinating when he says, The black dog is back, I
slept and he returned, but this time the dream finished (Wilson 184). The character, Jim was not
mentally prepared to handle his best friend s death, and thus slowly losing his mind, clearly
showing the effects of war on soldiers. Just as how many people are not mentally prepared for
traumatic events, people can be swept up in the war itself and be completely blind to the
consequences. As stated by CM Magazine Hay s experience allows the reader to understand how
someone could be swept up in a war frenzy, and then kept in a state of continuing uncertainty
(Gregor). The article demonstrates how both the reader and the character itself can portray how one
can think they know where they are, but in reality,

Comparing The Culture of the Mongols versus the Pakistanis...
Comparing The Culture of the Mongols versus the Pakistanis In the following paper, I will be

qualities that distinguish these cultures from one another. These five institutions include topics
such as religion, economics, education, politics, and family. Religion The Mongols religious
beliefs and practices come into the category that is usually called Shamanism. I find that a shaman
can be best described as being a tribal witch doctor. Shamanism involves a solitary practitioner that

Toleration is achieved through indifference, by a feeling that any religion might be right, and
also by the fact that nomadic society was accustomed to the practice of many religions. Today,
one sixth of the world and 95 percent of the people of Pakistan are Muslim. Most Muslims in
Pakistan take religion much more seriously than Americans or Europeans do. There are much
fewer agnostics or freethinkers in Pakistan than there are in the West. For most Pakistanis,
religion is not so much a matter of individual belief as it is a matter of revealed truth and a
lifetime duty. A quarter of all Pakistanis pray five times a day. Many more pray at least once a
day. The times a day when a crier, or an amplified taped recording of a crier, gives the azan, or
prayer call, are just before dawn, after noon, an hour before sunset, about an hour after sunset,
and about two and a half hours after sunset. Before entering a mosque (a Muslim temple) men
take their sandals off at the entrance. (Women usually do not go to mosques.) Then they wash
their hands and feet at an outdoor basin before and imam (priest) leads them on prayer. A rural

Comparing Apple Vs Apple
The smartphone industry is a very up and coming place. In the US, more than 77% of adults own a
smartphone (Smith). There are many different kinds of smartphones. They can vary in shape, size,
color, and brand. Two of the largest brands of smartphone are Samsung and Apple. They make two
of the hottest phones on the market right now. Just recently Samsung made the Galaxy S8, and
Apple came out with the iPhone8. Both phones are reported to be top of the line. Both being high
end devices have many similarities, but they also have differences that set them far apart from
each other. Let s start off with one big difference between these two phones, the camera. We re
again treated to a solitary 12 megapixel f/1.8 rear snapper... The Galaxy S8 comes with a 12
megapixel Dual Pixelrear camera (Spendelow). The difference between the cameras here is that
the Galaxy has a dual camera, whereas the iPhone does not. The iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X
do have the dual camera if you re willing to spend the extra money. These two phones also have
different camera resolution. The Galaxy s camera resolution is 2960 x 1440 pixels, and the
iPhones is 1334 x 750 pixels (Bushnell). Between the two phones camera resolution, the Galaxy
has the iPhone beat. The Samsung s front facing camera is also a little bit better than the iPhone
s. The iPhone s camera is 7 megapixels whereas the Samsungs is 8 megapixels (Kidman).
However, the iPhone has reportedly been seen with warmer colors, helping with the contrast of
pictures. Overall, the Samsung s dual rear camera and 8 megapixels front facing camera has the
iPhone beat. Another big difference between the two phones is the hardware and internal specs.
One main difference between these two phones is the two kinds of operating systems they use.
Samsung uses Android 7.1.1, and the iPhone uses iOS 11. Two separate systems tailored to the
devices needs. They both are top of the line operating systems and are the most up to date
systems you can use (Kidman). Both operating systems are fine tuned to the use of the consumer
and are both extremely customizable. The iPhone Has a 2GB RAM and uses the A11 Bionic
processor, and the Galaxy has a 4GB RAM and uses the octa core Exynos 8895 processor

The Things They Carried’ by Tim O’Brien Essay
The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien provides a insider s view of war and its distractions,
both externally in dealing with combat and internally dealing with the reality of war and its
effect on each solder. The story, while set in Vietnam, is as relevant today with the conflicts in
Iraq and Afghanistan as it was in the 1960 s and 1970 s in Southeast Asia. With over one million
soldiers having completed anywhere from one to three tours in combat in the last 10 years, the
real conflict might just be inside the soldier. O Brien reflects this in his writing technique, using a
blend of fiction and autobiographical facts to present a series of short narratives about a small unit
of soldiers. While a war story, it is also an unrequited... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of pathos and ethos in tandem strengthens his writing, but also leads to some parts being
almost tedious. As PFCs or Spec 4s, most of them were common grunts and carried the standard
M 16 gas operated assault rifle. The weapon weighed 75 pounds unloaded, 8.2 pounds with its full
twenty round magazine. Depending on numerous factors, such as topography and psychology, the
riflemen carried anywhere from twelve to twenty magazines... (O Brien 1990). This paragraph
almost drones on losing the reader in a myriad of technical mumbo jumbo and measurements
before getting back on target with the story of the soldier s life in the field. The organization of the
text can be hard to follow when he goes on about the equipment. On the other hand O Brien takes
the role of narrator; clearly he is invested emotionally in the story. However, the drama of the
moment can be diluted with too much fact and not enough emotion. Taking each character and
peeling back the soldier layers to expose us to the person underneath, he also creates moments
that are poignant and riveting. For the most part they carried themselves with poise, a kind of
dignity. Now and then, however, there were times of panic, when they squealed or wanted to

Jobs in the South for African Americans Even though slavery was finally abolished in 1865,

Later Model Of God Research Paper
There are two absolutely different models of God during the biblical times. The one that we are
accustomed to because it was passed on to Judaism and Christianity and has been with us ever
since is the later God. The later God is found to be in the beginning of the sixth century of BCE to
the end of the biblical time frame. This Godis considered to be simultaneously everywhere at once.
He is almighty and knowledgeable. He is very powerful and knows everything.
The earlier model of God is found in many texts such as Genesis and Exodus, Joshua, and etc.
Whereas the later model of God is not found in them. The earlier God in contrast to the later God
goes from place to place. He is not everywhere at once. The book gives an example of the story of
Tower of Babel that God states Let us go down and confuse their speech. This indicates that he is
not present there with the people. He is apparently up, perhaps in heaven (midrash), since he states
he has to go down. Another example the book provides entails the story of the Garden of Eden. It
points out two things. First, that God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in ways it is easy for us readers to comprehend. The beginning of the bible describes God in a
inferior/unsatisfactory way. A whole different way and a different model from God s being. But
the older model is not to be forgotten. Kugel says in some ways it is more sophisticated than the
later model that replaced it. I would respectfully disagree. I think the later model was more
sophisticated. From my understanding, God is everywhere at once. He is powerful and superior
and knows what is happening. I do not believe the earlier version where it states that he is only in
one place and he can so call walk from place to place. I got taught that he is not directly
perceivable but is omnipresent. This is because God causes everything that happens, to

History Encompasses More Than Merely Events That Occurred
History encompasses more than merely events that occurred in the past. History is about;
understanding how people felt, how they lived and how certain events shaped the society they lived
in. The truth is, today s society only knows bits and pieces of history because most of the history
that s known is often misinterpreted, or misconstrued due to the lack of evidence that has survived,
or the over abundance of information that is present. Other times, historymight be misinterpreted
because historians try to fill in the blanks with information. For example, Christopher Columbus is

By reading the diary, you are essentially transported back in time; as though you were walking in
that person s shoes. Even though history is a very interesting area of study there are many different
ways of interpreting it.
The problem with studying history is that it s very hard to accurately say that things occurred a
certain way. World War II ended yes, but who played the bigger role in its conclusion? Depending
on where you are, people would answer the question differently. If you were Russian you would
say the Russians played the bigger role in ending World War II, however, if you were an American,
you might say otherwise. In all, history is only as accurate as the interpretation of the given
evidence, and even then there might be misconceptions.
The epistemological fragility of history makes certain aspects of history hard to interpret and
understand and therefore, it s hard to put together a complete picture. An example of this
phenomenon involves the massacre that occurred in Almo, Idaho in 1861. The massacre served as
a collective identity for the people of the town because it was a reminder of the struggle that the
settlers went through to ensure the survival of themselves, as well as their families. (Maybe add
something here?) Oftentimes, people study history because they want to know where they came
from. A collective

The Catholic Faith
Paper #2 The Catholic faith is based on this central figure, Jesus, who teaches them how to live in a
manner according to the ultimate creator: God. There are ways to view Jesus in the modern day
through different means of interaction. One way of interaction with Jesus is achieved when people
attend church on Sundays to ensure that they are live according to God through their daily
activities. Another way Christians see interaction with Jesusis through Mary and the saints because
Mary and the saints are ideal examples of Jesus. These interactions are essential to the Catholic
faith, but the most important reappearance of Jesus is through the Sacraments. Essentially, the
Sacraments are a way of getting inside of the Bible by committing to the same actions that Jesus
performed in the Bible. By conducting the sacraments, a person is considered to be transformed by
doing the same things Jesus did. The reappearance of Jesus is best viewed through the Sacraments,
more specifically in An Introduction to Catholicism through the explanation of the concept of
sacramentality, which encompasses baptism, confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist. In order to grasp
an understanding of the Sacraments, a person must first understand the concept of sacramentality.
According to Lawrence Cunningham, the word sacrament mean[s] a visible sign of divine power
manifested in humanity (Cunningham, pg.101). This concept of divine power portrayed in
humanity can be understood as a public sign that

A Summary Of The Broken Spears
When I was younger I had a friend that would love to tell stories of the Aztec, or Mexica and
although I don t think she knew what she was talking about truly, I started a liking for their
culture. Their culture is a very unique one that will be known for its practice of sacrificing
humans, making of magnificent jewelry, and the making of their downfall by the Spaniards. The
Broken Spears is a book that so well put together the accounts of the Mexica and the conquest of
the Spaniards. Broken Spears was an interesting account that could be seen to have a little bias on
the side of the Mexica. Many reasons could follow like the fact that it was written after the whole
ordeal. Although Broken Spears seems to have a bias I claim that it does show how the culture
collides well because the difference in the first encounter with its first judgement of each people to

Research Paper On Online Classes
Online classes have boomed lately, but are they really worth all the work, or should we stick to
traditional classrooms? More and more people, especially these days have been enrolling in
online classes, due to the new technology being released. Online classes have been at lower
quality because of 3 reasons: how easy it is to cheat on them, the amount of money being put
into them is outrageous, and how small amount of control the professors have. Others might say,
I like online classes because the class schedule is very flexible and I can work it into my
schedule. While that is true, online classes fail to give you is face to face communication. In
Source B, the text states that, Online classes offer flexibility for sure. But if students never step
foot on campus, often times they will feel less invested in their education. If students feel less
invested, they will tend to lose their sense of perseverance, or their will to accomplish something. If
they actually went into classrooms, and set foot on the campus, they might get more invested in the
school spirit, and find other ways to make college more than just a learning experience.

I came into the school year knowing full well that in November, America would have a new

an obligation to effectively learn about Trump and Clinton, what morals they have, their

prestigious. My belief in Trump has been strongly altered into a more hostile audience.
Bloomberg questions Trump s credibility as a businessman and as a potential Commander In

The most meaningful scene in the book is when the new college graduate goes for a bike ride and
discovers the Monadnock Valley resort. This scene and the ensuing scandal around the resort
beautifully exemplify Ayn Rand s overall theme of The Fountainhead: individualism versus
collectivism, not in politics, but in man s soul. (The FountainheadCourse / lesson eight, Themes of
the Fountainhead: Individualism Versus Collectivism)
The college graduate sees this amazing town that is built into the hills and he thinks, one could no

Pigmentary Uveitis is an eye disease that mostly affects Golden Retrievers. Pigmentary Uveitis is
also known as Golden Retriever Uveitis, cystic glaucoma, or the shortened name of PU. PU is
thought to have originated from the Northeastern part of the United States, and was mostly in
Golden Retrievers. PU also affects crossbred dogs with Golden s such as Goldendoodles. Although
it is present in crossbreds, the disease still mainly affects Golden Retrievers. This is a genetic
disease that affects the eye, and the eye only. Uveitis is an inflammation of the uveal tract, which
includes the iris (Golden RetrieverUveitis). PU is usually diagnosed around the age of 8.6 years.
Which means if they were breeding dogs, they would have already passed it on to their
offspring. This genetic disease could spread very quickly, considering the signs are not visible
until after they have had offspring. Since breeding programs outside of the United States have
different certification standards, researchers do not know if PU has spread to other countries at
this time. Pigmentary Uveitis is usually diagnosed around the age of 8.6 years, although there
are cases that have reported as early as 2.5 years old (Sullivan, T., DVM) and the oldest was 14.5
years old (Sapienza, J., DVM). Most breeding dogs get diagnosed at one of their eye tests, called
CERF (Canine Eye Registry Foundation), and then go for further testing. Other non breeding dogs

What happened to Bikini Atoll when the United States had a nuclear weapons test series?
Operation Crossroads was a nuclear test that was held during the summer of 1946 at Bikini
Atoll intended to study the effect of nuclear weapon. There were a total of three tests, Able,
Baker, and Charlie. The first test was codenamed Able. The 23 kiloton bomb was dropped from
the B 29 Superfortress Dave s Dream at July 1, 1946. The bomb detonated at an altitude of 520
feet and 1,500 to 2,000 off from the target ships. The second test was codenamed Baker. The 23
kiloton bomb was put 90 feet underwater. The bomb caused many unusual phenomena that a
conference was held two months later to define new terms for use in descriptions and analysis.

Americans. In 1798 a doctor told people that Native Americans had important cures that worked.
The first real type of help with childbirth was adopted by Americans in the nineteenth century.
These are just few examples but the list goes on. Americans adopted a huge amount of remedies
from the Native Americans, of course over time some of these cures have been dropped or
changed to a certain extreme but the root of them are still originating from Native American
tribes. Over 220 medicines from different Native American tribes are still listed in the National

everything else some of the cures still are known and used today by people that are not in tribes.
There is even a school program in Rough Rock, Arizona that holds classes and programs that
teach the traditional beliefs and ceremonies to kids. Native American medicine will always be a

Thesis For Nosferatu
Rhetorical Outline
Proposition: The film Nosferatu was a key step in establishing the modern standard of the vampire
as an icon of horror.
Audience: Persons with a high level of interest in the history and development of film, specifically
vampire or German Expressionist film. The book discusses how Nosferatu is an important
milestone in cinematic history for its pioneering in both the creation of the vampire icon and its use
of cutting edge film techniques, so people with an advanced interest in the history of film would
find this book appealing. Additionally, it holds a lot of important analysis for students required to
study Nosferatu, and provides insight to the significance of the film that they would not have

She discusses how Weimar Cinema came to be and how it did so well financially, moves onto
the introduction of Expressionism into film from its origin in theater and painting, and finally
describes the characteristics of Expressionism in Cinema as opposed to other artforms. From
there, she discusses how the various members of the Prana cinema team came together and how
their expertise contributed to the movie, how they prepared the masses for Nosferatu, and how
they presented the movie. However, she provides the counterpoint of how Florence Stoker s
lawsuit against the Prana film company damaged the movie s reputation and popularity. From
there she describes how the plot of Nosferatu follows the pattern established by Noel Carroll in
Philosophy of Horror of an onset phase, a discovery phase, a confirmation phase, and a
confrontation phase. As the chapter progresses, Massaccesi s description of the plot includes
lengthy and in depth analyses of each character in terms of their interactions with each other and
with the setting(s). From there she considers the significance of various aspects of the film in
relation to the film s events and characters, such as camera angles and symbolic imagery, She also
discusses the significance of other aspects of the film in relation to the sociopolitical situation in
Germany and Europe as a whole, applying themes such as the defeat of a tyrannical villain figure or
the supernatural wonder associated with Romantic artwork.
Rhetorical Strategies: Massaccesi uses a more expository and frank structure, opting to be very
informative and direct with the content of her book. In every section of the chapters, she has a
very clear pattern of making a claim, providing an example, and connecting the two via

Balram s Dichotomy
In Aravind Adiga s novel The White Tiger, Balram, the main character, describes a duality of
Light and Darkness. India is split into two halves: the Darkness and the Light. In contrast with
popular belief that light is good and darkness is evil, there is no clear picture in the novel of this;
the Lightis not displayed as morally righteous, nor is the Darkness. Rather, the Light is the rich
urban India and the impoverished Darkness is the rural inner India. Inside this larger duality
between Light and Darkness, there are many smaller pairs that illustrate the differences between
the Light and Darkness. These differences expose Balram s worldview, and demonstrate how the
oppression of Darkness by the Light changed his view. Balram becomes obsessed with escaping the

The duality between Light and Darkness contravenes the reader s expectations of a virtuous
protagonist and a villainous antagonist. The subjugation of the disadvantaged Darkness compared
to the privileged Light is represented in the many dualities that are part of the larger dichotomy
between the Light and Darkness. According to Balram, it is almost impossible to transfer from
the Darkness to the Light: India is two countries in one: an India of Light, and an India of
Darkness. The ocean brings light to my country. Every place on the map of India is well off. But
the river brings darkness to India the black river (Adiga 12). This passage suggests an impenetrable
wall between the Light and Darkness; the ocean is what makes the Light rich, but since the ocean is
immovable, the Light and Darkness are completely distinct. Balram is corrupted by his servant
master relationship with Mr. Ashok. Balram becomes fixated on the quixotic task of entering the
Light, which causes his metamorphosis throughout the novel. The dualities caused by the division
between the Light and Darkness exposes Balram s inferior status and lifestyle, causing his

The island est.) was Christianized from the 5th century National Holiday: Saint Patrick s Day,
March 17 onward. Following the Norman invasion in the
12th century, England claimed sovereignty over Ireland. However, English rule did not extend over
the whole island until the 16th 17th century Tudor conquest. This led to colonisation of Ireland by
settlers from Britain. In the 1690s, a system of Protestant English rule was designed to materially
disadvantage the Catholic majority and Protestant dissenters, and was extended during the 18th
century. In 1801, Ireland became a part of the United Kingdom. A war of independence in the early
20th century was followed by the partition of the island, creating the Irish Free State, which
became increasingly sovereign over the following decades, and Northern Ireland which remained a
part of the United Kingdom. Northern Ireland saw much civil unrest from the late 1960s until the

Hellfire and Damnation Looking back on my childhood, I have many memories shrouded in fear

My interpretation of this particular sermon was that I was a horrible person not worthy of love. I
was a sinner and I was going to Hell. I would cry myself to sleep at night because I was so sure that
I would be one of those lost souls for all of eternity. The minister talked of redemption. All I had to
do to be saved and get into heaven was confess my sins and ask for forgiveness.
I was sure, however, that I had far too many sins to be forgiven; besides, I wasn t really sorry for
most of my sins. I could not feel bad about questioning my parents and the church s authority.
Most of the time it seemed that they contradicted themselves or just didn t make any sense at all.
I had a very hard time digesting the teachings of the church that included both a God who would

the teachings I received and with so many people being in agreement, I just figured they must be

The Current Staff
Problem Strategy In observing the Dept. of Motor Vehicles transaction process, it demonstrates a
complicated and redundant registration structure. In the licensing center, drivers must navigate the
decentralized facility, moving from station to station with documents and verification forms
(Dresang, 2012). In this situation, the driver must have the correct paperwork and follow the right
line order or risk restarting the process. Therefore, the DMV must consider training current
employees to process all required paperwork and payments as well as provide license plates. As a
result, the registration process is centralized and streamlined because the organization creates a one
stop processing center.
Feasibility The training of the current staff involves an individualistic level change, where the
organization focuses on improving employees to create an efficient processing system (Miller,
2002). In creating a centralized process, it requires significant staff training and development. The
Human Resources (HR) department will analyze the workload, environment, and schedules to
create training plans [in house training videos, manuals, and on site instructions] and adjust job
descriptions and offer compensation. The organization will provide cross training and manage the
employee s knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the new task and adhere to new policies. As a

What was the available transport by land, river or sea? What was the length, security and nature of
communication lines? However, this biggest questions were concerned with the welfare of the
soldier, what were they going to eat? What weapons were available? How were they going to be
cared for? These were the questions that if not dealt with appropriately would rapidly decrease the
effectiveness of the army.1
First of all, the most important part of logistics, the sustenance and hydration of the soldiers needs
to be considered. In short what were they going to eat and drink throughout the campaign? The
methods changed quite notably throughout the time period, this having some relationship to the
size of armies, although this will be covered at a later time. The first method of both feeding the
army and drawing the enemy from their fortifications was the chevauchee, essentially an armed
raid, typified by pillage, burning, rape and murder, essentially destroying everything in its path.
An example of this would be Edward III, who ravaged France, both surviving in enemy territory
and also compelling Phillip to fight in open combat. The chevauchee can be seen as an effective
form of feeding small armies, however any great army would have trouble acquiring the sheer
amount necessary for its survival.

How Did Augustus Caesar Use Propaganda
Introduction
Art and architecture consist the expression of society s ethos and moral character; they function
as its mirrors. Especially during times of crisis, change or instability, they reflect the state of its
values. When we look back in Rome in 27 BCE, the time when Augustus Caesar founded the
Roman Principate and became its first emperor, art served as one of his media to first claim, then
establish and finally stabilize his domination. As Paul Zanker comments rarely has art been pressed
into the service of political power so directly as in the Age of Augustus.
Augustus was a political genius who accomplished to establish peace (Pax Romana which is
sometimes called Pax Augusta to honour his name) and stabilize his position as the Roman
emperor between his rivals with great ingenuity. In order to understand the statement above, we
need to discuss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The use of propaganda throughout time, especially when it comes to politics, is a common and
widely adopted means of predominance and influence of the masses. However, looking back into
history, few people of power and politicians used propaganda as successfully and effectively as the
first emperor of Rome, Augustus Caesar.
As briefly mentioned above, over time Augustus dramatically altered the balance of power in the
Roman governance system without seeming to do so; indeed, in Res Gestae 34.3 he explicitly
claimed, I exceeded all in influence, but I had no greater power than the others who were
colleagues with me in each magistracy .
To understand Augustus means of influence to his audience and his agenda is to understand the
man himself as well as his ambitions for the Roman Empire. In an attempt to categorize his work, it
can be claimed that Augustus had two main themes in the use of propaganda. The first theme was
correlated to his concern to establish himself, his right to rule and his influence, while the second
one was his ambition to create and maintain peace and

Dual Immersion Benefits
The United States is a country built by immigrants who speak more than one language. Being
bilingual has many benefits that vary from traveling with ease all through having a brain that can
multitask faster. In the past decade many schools in California, as well as other states, have started
a program called the dual immersion or something of that nature in which they have a class that is
in another language, usually Spanish, and they teach the kids all the required material in that other
language. The Dual Immersion program is something that should be instated into more schools,
specifically in the bay area, because of the diversity seen here.
The duel immersion program has been shown to benefit the students in numerous ways; just being

A solution to these problems would be for the school to have the duel immersion classes do
fundraisers to help get money into their program. These fundraisers/fairs could be cultural events to
help educate the kids of different cultures and communities in the Latin world. This could not only
benefit the duel immersion classes but anyone that would show up to the fundraiser, as they would
be learning about the culture that the classes chose for that particular fundraisers/fair, with the
money the program makes from this it can afford to contract more teachers to help out, and give
these kids the benefits they deserve. Although it will be time consuming and there might need to be
a lot of parents to help out, the benefits outweigh these small setbacks. Having more teachers can
give the program the chance to have smaller classes in which the teachers can have more one on
one with the kids so that they each get the right amount of attention they need and deserve. More
teachers can also mean that the school can extend the program and give more kids the chance to be
accepted into the duel immersion program giving them a chance to better their education. The duel
immersion program can also have more fieldtrips in which they could

  • 2. Tylenol Towards the end of September of 1982, seven people died from a Tylenol product tampering on Chicago s West Side. Before the events, Tylenol had over one hundred million users, and was a total frontrunner in the pain killer industry. After the tragic events, Johnson Johnson, parent company of McNeil Consumer Products Company which makes Tylenol, had to face the world and explain why their highly trusted product was killing its consumers. (Markel, 2014) The first announced victim was 12 year old Mary Kellerman. The girl had cold symptoms in the middle of the night, so her parent gave her Extra Strength Tylenol and sent her back to bed. Next morning, the young girl was found dead in the bathroom. Several major press conferences had place at the company s headquarters. During the course of the events, over 100,000 news stories ran in U. S. newspapers. A post crisis study done by the own Johnson Johnson company revealed that over 90 percent of the country population knew about the Tylenol deaths within the first week. (Harris, et al., n.d.). Experts were predicting an obscure future for the product. Advertising specialist Jerry Della Femina stated that he was almost sure that a product under that name could never be sold again. Femina was far from being right, since Tylenol took short time period to be back in the market, and is still nowadays one of the selling leader of over the counter drugs in the U.S. (Kaplan, ... What attracted me most to Karen Horney was the relation I shared with her suffering from depression growing up. It was her findings about life and her outlook of recovering from depression that attracted her to me. She discusses the importance of everyone s role in their own life on their mental health. Therefore, I appreciate her studies as I have been able to apply them to my own life. Recovering from depression was not an overnight process. However, I became in control of my own mental health in my life. Without knowing about Karen Horney previous to my depression, she emphasized the importance everyone has in our own mental health. The Influence Of Pornography Simon Lajeunusse, a Canadian scholar who was wishing to research the impact pornography has on young men, was unsuccessful due to being unable to find a control group of males who have not already viewed pornography (Weiss par. 1). Although the typical pornographic videos streamed via the Internet are what most people today believe to be the defining form of pornography, it is also displayed in many other mediums and has been for thousands of years. Most people see the word pornography and immediately assume the worst, but they do not know the true definition or the history of the 11 lettered word. From its early forms of paintings on ancient Roman walls, and risquГ© novels during the Renaissance, to the creation of photography in the 1800s, and the booming of videos on the Internet in the 1990s, pornography has been through it all. Pornography is one of the most controversial topics of all time, and because of its vast meanings and forms, there are several differing views. The saying, Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, is very relevant when it comes to the topic of pornography. One person s view of pornography could be another s view of beautiful art; This is when the controversy takes place. Some people believe pornography is harmful to women because of the degrading and violent acts toward them in most pornographic material; Others agree but believe there are other forms of pornography, erotic material, which could benefit a viewer and a relationship. Who can picture 1 million people, let alone 7 billion people? Yet the total incomprehension of it does not make the fact any less true. Nobody has ever seen an alien or an organism that has not originated from Earth, yet it does not make the prospect any less valid. Most citizens of Earth cannot imagine living anywhere else but on this blue planet, but that should not make the possibility of it any less real. The luminosity of the star plays a role on the length of the HZ as well. The more light a stars radiates, the larger that star s HZ will be (Palmer). More light brings along more heat. As well as luminosity, another variable is time. As times ticks by, a star s luminosity increases, and as it increases the margins of the zone will expand. This indicates that, with time, planets within a HZ could change (Lissauer). Then there is the Greenhouse Effect, a planet with a plentiful hydrogen atmosphere might be able to extend its HZ. The Greenhouse gas would be able to absorb heat and extend the HZ up to fifteen astronomical units (AU). One AU is defined as the distance between the earth and the sun (Baalke). Though the range extended would depend on the type of host star. For instance, G type stars, like the Sun would have larger HZ. In contrast, M type stars emit less light and would have a smaller HZ (Redd Greenhouse Effect ). Similarly, Earth also has variables that affects life. One would be the mentioned greenhouse effect. This effect talks about greenhouse gases, with some examples being H2O vapor, CO2, methane, ozone, and nitrous oxide ( Greenhouse Effect ). • 8. Why Is Characterization Important In The Veldt Why is characterization important? Having realistic characters contribute in connecting the readers to the story. In Sandra Cisneros Eleven and Ray Bradbury s The Veldt, realistic characters are a product of the environment through the author s use of descriptive writing with a forbidding or positive tone, use of literary devices and strong character development. This indicates that characters are realistic regardless if the setting is familiar or unfamiliar to the reader. Author uses descriptive writing to characterize a person, thing or place in a way that an image is created in the reader s mind. Tone plays an significant role in descriptive writing as it can either be forbidding or favorable. In The Veldt, authors use descriptive writing to help readers understand the unfamiliar setting. The narrator creates an image of the nursery in a favorable tone by saying The hot straw smell of lion grass, the cool green smell of the hidden water hole, the great rusty smell of animals, the smell of dust like a red paprika in the hot air. (Bradbury 1) The use of descriptive writing in The Veldt helps the reader understand and familiarize themselves with the unusual setting which contributes in making the character seem realistic. In this specific example, tone also contributes in helping readers understand the narrators state of mind while describing the nursery. The Vietnam War helped extend the study of PTSD because it led to the growing use of media to raise public awareness, the establishment of large scale psychological studies on Vietnam veterans, and the realization of the importance of accurate psychiatric diagnoses. The Vietnam War profoundly affected many Vietnam soldiers after they left the homeland, and the media had an immense influence on how these individuals were treated in America. The returning soldiers showed all of the typical symptoms of what psychiatrists now understand as PTSD: difficulty sleeping, an overly sensitive reaction to stimuli, and flashbacks. For instance, Sonny Hartwell, a Vietnam veteran with PTSD, recounted the constant uncertainty he experienced during the war, War is a strange thing. Edelstein Cosmetics Case Study Order 3 Edelstein Cosmetics Delivers Customer Service Tips For A Busy Office Setting Anyone who has ever sat waiting in a busy office knows that it can be a tedious occasion that gets on your nerves. What makes it worse is when the people on the other side of that equation, the office workers, seem to show little concern for what s going on with the people waiting. This is a common problem wherever people have to wait for an appointment of some kind. The wait becomes practically interminable if the setting is inhospitable. And the bad impression it leaves can make it so you never want to go back. That s why the workers in the offices of service providers have to be always on the ball when it comes to their customer service efforts, lest the office in which they work gets less crowded for all the wrong reasons. People who have to wait for a decent period of time can get extremely testy, which means that the patience of the workers can be tested in turn. But the extra effort that the employees demonstrate can make the difference between a satisfied customer and a frustrated one. At Edelstein Cosmetics, a busy medical center in Toronto specializing in cosmetic surgery and treatments, that kind of extra effort is par for the course. But, according to CEO XXX, it takes more than that to give patients in a sensitive situation the kind of tender loving care that eases their nerves and makes them feel comfortable. The most considerable effects from warare to an individual, it can change how a person thinks as shown in Wilson s work. The character, Jim was not mentally prepared to handle his best friend s death, and thus slowly losing his mind, clearly showing the effects of war on soldiers. Just as how many people are not mentally prepared for traumatic events, people can be swept up in the war itself and be completely blind to the consequences. As stated by CM Magazine Hay s experience allows the reader to understand how someone could be swept up in a war frenzy, and then kept in a state of continuing uncertainty (Gregor). The one that we are accustomed to because it was passed on to Judaism and Christianity and has been with us ever since is the later God. The later God is found to be in the beginning of the sixth century of BCE to the end of the biblical time frame. This Godis considered to be simultaneously everywhere at once. He is almighty and knowledgeable. He is very powerful and knows everything. Depending on where you are, people would answer the question differently. If you were Russian you would say the Russians played the bigger role in ending World War II, however, if you were an American, you might say otherwise. The epistemological fragility of history makes certain aspects of history hard to interpret and understand and therefore, it s hard to put together a complete picture. An example of this phenomenon involves the massacre that occurred in Almo, Idaho in 1861. The massacre served as a collective identity for the people of the town because it was a reminder of the struggle that the settlers went through to ensure the survival of themselves, as well as their families. There are ways to view Jesus in the modern day through different means of interaction. One way of interaction with Jesus is achieved when people attend church on Sundays to ensure that they are live according to God through their daily activities. Another way Christians see interaction with Jesusis through Mary and the saints because Mary and the saints are ideal examples of Jesus. These interactions are essential to the Catholic faith, but the most important reappearance of Jesus is through the Sacraments. Essentially, the Sacraments are a way of getting inside of the Bible by committing to the same actions that Jesus performed in the Bible. By conducting the sacraments, a person is considered to be transformed by doing the same things Jesus did. The reappearance of Jesus is best viewed through the Sacraments, more specifically in An Introduction to Catholicism through the explanation of the concept of sacramentality, which encompasses baptism, confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist. In order to grasp an understanding of the Sacraments, a person must first understand the concept of sacramentality. As briefly mentioned above, over time Augustus dramatically altered the balance of power in the Roman governance system without seeming to do so; indeed, in Res Gestae 34.3 he explicitly claimed, I exceeded all in influence, but I had no greater power than the others who were colleagues with me in each magistracy .
