Essay Genocide and Modernity
The crime of genocide is one of the most devastating human tragedies throughout the history. And the
word genocide refers to an organised destruction to a specific group of people who belongs to the
same culture, ethnic, racial, religious, or national group often in a war situation. Similar to mass
killing, where anyone who is related to the particular group regardless their age, gender and ethnic
background becomes the killing targets, genocide involves in more depth towards destroying people s
identity and it usually consists a fine thorough plan prearranged in order to demolish the unwanted
group due to political reasons mostly. While the term genocide had only been created recently in 1943
by Raphael Lemkin, a Polish Jewish legal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the first colony established for penal settlement in 1788 at Port Jackson, it all seemed to begin
peacefully in the start. In reality, as the white settlers expands their territories with more colonies
established, those movements destroyed not only the lives but also the trusts from the aborigines,
unlike such as initially when Governor Arthur Phillip issued the Letters Patent establishing the colony
of South Australia in 1836 with the confidence that nothing should affect the rights of the natives in
regard to their enjoyment or occupation of the land . Over the past, Aborigines had their own complex
social organisation, yet they had different language and customs in various tribes but have managed to
live peacefully with one another. Still the British settlers saw the Aborigines as an inferior and a
primitive group, simply because they have a lack of what they are used to, westernization. Such as a
visible administration and therefore, they introduced the nation state and complex political institutions
along with the rise of new class, race, and gender concepts, which these are all parts of the preface
towards modernity and civilisation.
Ironically, the civilised people who brought the improvements could not cope to live in peace with the
natives, where countless Aboriginal lives vanished under the superior governance of the new settlers.
Regardless which part of the continent including Tasmania, the history has shown many unfair

Guilt And Appreciation In Those Winter Sundays By Robert...
Something so simple as thanking someone for holding the door open or smiling at passerby s can
make a big difference in someone s day. So, it is even more important to treat loved ones with respect
and to show them appreciation, as it means much more than a simple smile from a stranger. Guilt is a
very difficult thing to live with. It is better to be courteous of others and thoughtful than to deal with
the dreadful guilt. The themes of guilt and appreciation are shown in the poem, Those Winter Sundays
by Robert Hayden. To appreciate and respect a loved one shows them how truly special they are, and
lets them know that they are noticed and their actions are not taken for granted. Everyone deserves to
know that they are loved and appreciated.

manufacturing to sales, sustainability and Human Resources. Any company can find an appropriate
ERP based on the industry (SAP, 2017B). In 2016 SAP announced partnership with Apple allowing
businesses to deliver IOS apps on SAP Cloud Platform utilizing SAP S/4HANA (SAP, 2017A).
In the scope of ITM 319 course SAP ERP system s capabilities and processes were carefully studied
including Sales Distribution, Materials Management, Production Planning, Financial Accounting,
Controlling, HR Management, Warehouse Management and Project System.
Fulfillment, Production and Warehouse management processes are concerned with goods movement
that triggers goods issue that will be further discussed.
Goods Issue
There are four types of goods movement types: goods receipt, goods issue, goods transfer and transfer
posting. Goods issue process plays a key role in fulfillment process (indicating a goods shipment to a
customer s sales order) and production (issuing of raw or semi finished materials to a production
order) and is triggered by warehouse management. Goods issue results in decrease of inventory levels.
The SAP ERP screen has the following views: item overview (that contains information about items in
the outbound delivery document), Picking, Loading, Transport, Status

Richard Nixon s Involvement In The Watergate Scandal
On August 9, 1974, Richard Nixon resigned from his post as President of the United States of America
in ignominy. His resignation was prompted by mounting accusations of his involvement in the
Watergate scandal, perhaps the biggest scandal the country has ever seen. The Watergate scandal was a
series of events started by the break in to the Democratic Party headquarters by members connected to
the Nixon campaign with the orders to steal confidential plans. President Gerald Ford later issued a
presidential pardon, but many Americans could not forgive Nixon for his involvement. The Watergate
Scandal distracted the history books from one of the most productive presidencies in history.

Nixon s accomplishments in domestic affairs still have a positive effect today. The tensions of racism
were calmed with the desegregation of schools. Women gained more rights and respect. Ultimately,
these domestic programs may be remembered longer than his currently better known activities in the
realm of foreign policy, and they may even minimize his negative Watergate image. In any case, they
represent the most positive characteristics of the Nixon phenomenon. In fact, the Age of Nixon that
would end in the denouement of disgrace, actually reached its climax in the area of domestic reform
(Hoff 144).
His actions overseas also changed the world for the better. He effectively ended the Vietnam War,
calmed the tensions with the Soviets during the Cold War, and avoided a second Cuban Missile

Network Security And The Network
Abstract
Network security is a broad term used to refer to processes and procedures that are configured by a
company s network administrator to provide visibility and prevent denial of service, unauthorized
access, modification and exploitation of the corporate network or respective resources. The resources
refer to files or computer programs available on the corporate network infrastructure. The
infrastructure comprise of corporate software and hardware resources that facilitate communication,
connectivity, management and operations within the corporate network. (Vacca, 2014)
This infrastructure thus provides a communication path between applications, users, services,
processes and external networks like the internet. Typically, a ... Show more content on

The network security manager can equally use intrusion detection systems and anti virus software to
prevent unauthorized access and blocking harmful viruses and malware from entering a network
respectively. This paper however, does not focus on these approaches but primarily focuses on how
firewalls enhance network security. A firewall is a security technology designed to avoid unauthorized
access to or from a private network. Firewalls can be placed in both hardware and software, or can
also be placed in both hardware and software. Firewalls are usually used to prevent unauthorized
access on a network. All messages entering or leaving the network go through a firewall, the firewall
analyses all the messages and then blocks the messages that do not meet the security standards. The
administrator sets the security standards which packets need to meet, he/she will decide which packet
is suitable to pass through the firewall. (Webopedia.com, 2017), (Services, 2017). Once an
administrator has set up a policy, it then needs to be tested to determine if the firewall has been
correctly implemented.
Introduction
Network security has become a major concern in the computing industry, including organizations,
personal users and the military. The reason for this is due to the large number of security threats that
occur on a daily basis. The internet architecture itself allows many threats to

Personal Narrative Essay On Pumpkin Picking
It was a nice day to go pumpkin picking with my family. We went to the local farms to pick our
pumpkins. I wanted to pick the perfect one. My mom told me a story about zombie pumpkins. I didn t
believe her because she tells me that story every year we go pumpkin picking. When we got there the
clouds were turning dark gray and the air was very heavy. The fog filled the aisles of the apple trees.
We had to pick our pumpkins fast because the weather was turning bad, a storm was coming. I saw the
perfect pumpkin all the way in the back of the patch. I picked one up and it was perfect. As I turned it
around, it was really a pumpkin zombie. The eyes were dark red, seeds were coming out of its mouth,
and green ooze dripped from its ears and nose.

Analysis Of Social Life By Philip Larkin
In the first stanza of the poem, Larkin sets us in the middle of mundane middle class English social
life. He notes that we involve ourselves in all sorts of socializing; but even though we fill up our time
with such social activities, Larkin suggests that such a life is empty and that although we disguise it
from ourselves, underneath we really want to be alone. In the second stanza he extends the wish to be
alone to its logical terminus, death. He suggests, then, that in spite of our social involvement we all
have a death wish within us and that immersing ourselves in the social round is harmful because it is a
mechanism we use to prevent ourselves from coming to terms with death and our desire for it; i.e. we
kill our natural awareness towards death and the temporal nature of life through indulgence in social
traps. In the poem images are conjured up by the use of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

idiomatic expression in English, to avert one s eyes , which means to turn one s eyes away from

then, expresses neatly the idea of turning away from death. In addition, aversion is here modified by

The Art Scene Of Tucson, And All Over The World
Creativity and art is becoming such a rising normality in our everyday culture. A new mural with a
political statement is popping up every other week. A person visiting the local pizza joint downtown
can look up on the wall and see a piece of art with a price tag next to it. A local artist painted it and
where else to get public attention than Brooklyn Pizza, in the heart of buzzing downtown. The art
scene is growing quickly, and thanks to the creative means, so is the opportunity for aspiring artists.
Whether it be a political, personal, local, environmental, or just showing U of A pride, local murals
and art are popping up and displaying the creativity of fellow Tucsonans. Art in Tucson, and all over
the world, sets a name for the city, brings the people together and defines a culture. There s such a hub
of cultural exchange here, with Native Americans, Mexican Americans. There really is a lot going on
in the arts (Busler). Local and community art galleries have been around, and are on the rise; Murals,
too, are creating business interest, and create an outlet for creativity. Art shows and auctions get more
artists out into the world, as well as their inspirational pieces. This art scene is only going to grow, and
opportunity along with it. Culture is the puzzle piece in this scene. Cultural diversity is a social good
and the wellspring of free expression. Cultural equity means full inclusion, participation, and power
sharing in all of our communities and institutions

The first paragraph of this essay will explain the concept of security dilemma, security issues in the
constructivist approach and the construction of identity in international relations. The second
paragraph will introduce ASEAN and its identity. The paragraph before last will mention the
interaction of the People s Republic of China and the United States of America in the region which
resulted in a security dilemma in ASEAN, then the last section will be the conclusion and the
summary of answers to the aforementioned.
The security dilemma is a fundamental concept in IR originate in John Herz s writing provided the
definition of security dilemma back in 1951 a structural notion in which the self help attempts of states
to look after their security needs tend, regardless of intention, to lead to rising insecurity to others as
each interprets its own measures as defensive and measures of others as potentially threatening (Herz,
1950: 157) which is a classic definition heavily associates with realism. In international system, where
there are no world governments or police to provide security for states as a result state exist in an
anarchy and the only way to ensure their own security is through self help. In short, security dilemmas

The Next War Poem Analysis
In Wilfred Owen s war poetry, the distinctive idea criticised all through all his poetry are the ideas of
the horrors, brutality and waste of war and the hypocrisy and lies held by many back homes. This idea
is developed a significant amount in two of his poems, Dulce et Decorum Est and The Next War
through the shocking images Owen creates. With both poems being written in first person plural,
Owen invites us into his poem which allows his idea to be properly conveyed to his audience and his
desired outcome, to make the people back home realise the terror of war and complete lack of glory, to
be reached.
In Dulce et Decorum Est , Wilfred Owen boldly criticises the way civilians mislead and manipulated
the unknowing soldiers previous to and during World War I and explores the horrors of war. Owen
invites us into his poem by asking us to watch the scenes of men with white eyes writhing he is
retelling to make the reader feel what he is feeling, that the war is a waste. He speaks of events he
witnessed and the boys reactions to events seen through the simile of coughing like hags . In the final
stanza of the poem, Owen speaks reflectively of the terrifying scenes of men with incurable sores he
was witness to and at times experienced and from gaining the compassion of the reader through his
descriptive language, limped on, blood shod .
Owen delivers his idea on the war in a shocking way which allows us to see his angry and bitter views
on it. As Owen describes

Ratio Analysis Paper
Ratios describe the various relationships among accounts in the balance sheet and income statement.
Financial ratios are important and helpful gauges of how an organization is functioning. An
organization s financial health, potential revenue, and even possible bankruptcy can be garnered from
financial ratios. Information derived from financial statements is used to calculate most ratios and
make projections. Ratios help investors and lenders determine the risk associated with lending or
investing funds in an organization (GE Financial Healthcare Services, 2003, para 1). According to
Finkler and Ward (2006), the key to interpretation of ratios is benchmarks. Without a basis for

The trend shows steady growth over the past three years, which is promising for increased growth into
the future. The benchmark for this ratio is the goal set by the board or a comparison to industry peers.
Increases in tuition or student enrollment will increase the earned income potential for The Children s
Home, thus raising the self sufficiency ratio for the organization. This could also augment any
decreases in government aide.
Expense Ratios
Personnel Costs Ratio Costs related to staffing generally take up the largest portion of the budget.
Adjustments to staffing percentages are easily seen in the budget. Formula: Total wages, taxes and
benefit expense / Total expenses = Personnel costs ratio.
FS 2010: $1,639,564 / $14,904,356 = 0.11 or 11%
FS 2009: $1,446,010 / $14,584,770 = 0.09 or 9%
FS 2008: $1,199,759 / $12,678,305 = 0.09 or 9% The Children s Home maintains a low personnel
costs ratio. The trend over the last three years shows a steady staffing percentage with a slight growth.
The benchmark for this ratio is set by the board or is by comparison to industry peers. This
organization should take note of the fact that, when this ratio is low, there is little room for staff
alterations in the face of financial crisis.
Administrative Cost Ratio This is an important ratio that nonprofit organizations and supervisory
bodies frequently check and assess for changes over time. Formula: Total

Analysis Of Sharon Olds The One Girl At The Boys Party
While many leaders in politics, business, science, and education strive for change, there still persists a
deep divide between male and female roles in the workplace and in society. This gap begins in
childhood as demonstrated in Sharon Olds (b. 1942) The One Girl at the Boys Party (1984). This
poem describes a young girl who attends a swimming party where she is the only female guest. It
relies on science and math imagery to contrast the boys physicality with the girl s intellectual ability,
and to juxtapose her physical features with the boys features. This figurative language creates a
distinction to challenge the disparity between male and female roles and their separation in social life,
which begins at a young age. Olds use of science and math imagery serves as an extended metaphor
for the juxtaposition between the one girl at the party and the other guests, which represents the social
divide between the genders. Olds references to math and science contrasts the boys physicality with
the subject s intellectual ability. At the beginning of the poem, the speaker mentions that they [the
boys] tower and/bristle, she stands there smooth and sleek,/her math scores unfolding in the air around
her (Olds 234). This description of the party guests creates an automatic physical distinction between
the girl and boys (by comparing their tower[ing] and bristl[ing] appearance from her smooth and sleek
one), but also wordlessly defines her by her math scores, rather

Social Darwinism And Its Impact On Society
Social Darwinism was a concept that was an accepted theory in the nineteenth century. It originated
from Charles Darwin, which stated survival of the fittest , meaning the poor and weak were going to
die and that the rich and powerful received more power and growth. However, even though Charles
came up with the idea of Social Darwinism, he had other social Darwinists who actually grasped the
entire concept of Darwinism and applied it to Social Sciences. Social Darwinists like Herbert Spencer
who believed that the government should not try to change any type of social environment because it
would hurt the process of nature. An important aspect of Social Darwinism is the Cultural one, which
goes through Religion, Art, and music. Religion being something that people in society believe in and
followed wholeheartedly. Art has a range of paintings, drawings, and sculptures from artists who were
influenced by Darwin. Music has always been a part of peoples lives and many different artists that
occurred before and after Darwin.
Religion was an important issue that many people adhered to for the way of life. Herbert Spencer
preached family loyalty, personal providence, family responsibility, hard work, and proud self
sufficiency which were middle class virtues. In the nineteen century biblical criticism and religion of a
fundamental faith prepared many Americans for the acceptance of Darwinism. Religion has always
been something that people for many centuries have

Pros And Cons Of Cosmetic Surgery
The Good and Bad of Cosmetic Surgery Cosmetic surgery has been in high demand since the late

type of surgery is used to change a person s appearance for many different reasons. There are different
types of cosmetic surgeries that can be done depending on the situation. Cosmetic surgery is more of a
downfall than it is beneficial to people (ASAPS, paragraph 2). People the age of thirty five to fifty
years old, are more likely to have some form of cosmetic surgery. Of all cosmetic surgeries, 39.3
percent of patients were in this age group during 2016. There has been an 89 percent increase within a
five year duration. Research has shown that this huge increase could be to improve a person s dating

the year of 2016, liposuction, breast augmentation, and abdominoplasty were the most common
cosmetic procedures in the world. The majority of these procedures were done in the United States on
Caucasian individuals. No matter the ethnicity of an individual, cosmetic surgery gives one the option

Classical Hollywood Narration And The Maltese Falcon
Classical Hollywood Narration and The Maltese Falcon
Being that of a Classic Hollywood film, John Huston s work The Maltese Falcon is an exemplar (and
subsequently a subverter) of classical hollywood narrative. A film noir where the character s
motivations are as fluid and complex as the genre is known to be. A film whose narrative in of itself
keeps the viewer guessing, and plot points are slowly pieced together by the viewer to discover the
greater story at hand. It s through these areas that The Maltese Falcon is a viewer s guide to classical
Hollywood narrative. In classic film noir fashion, The Maltese Falcon follows; unpredictable and
impeccable detective Sam Spade on the case to discover the mysterious falcon statue. Sam s overall
motivation in the story is simple; uncover the secrets of this case and find out who is behind the
murders of Archer and Thursby. While that is the story at hand, the plot of The Maltese Falcon has the
viewer believe that Spade wants the Falcon for himself, or at the very least wanting the profits from its
sale. From the elusive way Spade talks to Gutman and Cairo about the Falcon, the viewer is slowly
convinced of this idea. However it isn t until the climax where someone is able to be blamed for the
murders (Spades initial goal) that Spade flips his act and frames O Shaughnessy for the murders,
having fooled Gutman and Cairo with a fake falcon. Having mentioned O Shaughnessy, it s important

Reflection Of A Speech At The Middles Of Speech
When I was waiting to perform at my first speech competition I realized that I couldn t breath. It was
as if all the air in the room had been sucked out. I felt like I had entered an empty, soundless vacuum,
almost as if I had been sucked into space. I half expected myself to become weightless and float
around the room, but this didn t happen. Instead of this, I stood frozen in the middle of a classroom in
front of a dozen other people. I was the center of attention, and I hated every second of it. I was
debating whether or not I should just turn around and sprint out the door, but before I could make a
decision the lady in the front desk smiled at me and said something along the lines of ready whenever
you are . The moment she said this two things crossed my mind: the first one being I m fucked, and
the second being how did I end up here? Unfortunately I didn t have time to answer that question
because at that moment I had to do the hardest thing in front of my life: performing and speaking in
front of others.
When I entered that classroom I knew that I was going to end up having a nervous breakdown in the
middle of my performance, but I didn t expect the tears. I reached a point in my speech where I just
suddenly stopped talking. I couldn t take the panic and fear anymore, so tears started to fall. This
moment felt like it lasted a lifetime, and all I wanted to do was run out that door, but I knew that I had

Economics Is The Study Of The Ownership, Use, And Exchange...
Economics is the study of the ownership, use, and exchange of competing wants Economics is
observed as a societal knowledge because it uses scientific methods to form theories that can help
clarify the performance of individuals, groups and organisations. Economics challenges to describe
economic behaviour, which rises when scarce resources are exchanged.

An example would be: A magazine costing £1.00 and then increasing by an extra 20p, the daily sales
would then fall from 500,000 to 250,000 the PED would be:
50% / + 20%
= ( ) 2.5
The negative sign indicates that the Price and the Quantity are related, which you would expect for
most price/demand relationships as a rise in price will fall in the quantity demanded. This is important
due to the magazine supplier being able to estimate the revenue that will be affected by the change in
price. From above, the revenue at £1.00 is £500,000, but falls to £30,000 after the price has risen.
http://www.economicsonline.co.uk/Competitive_markets/Price_elasticity_of_demand.html
The government has many products which are imposed to indirect taxation, an example of this is
inelastic, meaning fuel or alcohol. The price elasticity of demand is important for these products as it
is able to determine how much tax producers can change on consumers as the prices rise.
Companies/Firms are able to use PED in many ways, which enables them to decide the change of
price effected by the total revenue of sales which then the price change that is likely caused by the
supply changes.
Income elasticity of demand
Income elasticity of demand (YED) shows the effect of a change in income on quantity demanded
based on the consumers income, and YED shows precisely the extent to which changes in income lead

workshops available; Defending Against Discrimination (for grassroots teams aged 10+), Kick Off the
Conversation (for all ages interested in football) and One Team: Team Leadership and Inclusion (for
University teams). The grassroots workshop is vital in establishing children s attitude towards
discrimination at a young and impressionable age, educating them about the seriousness of the
situation and the potential consequences of adverse attitudes and behaviour. The workshops available
for all ages, are set up to get people involved in the topic by talking about and debating the problems.
The workshop aimed at University teams is particularly important as it strives to educate, empower
and engage the students, creating leaders willing to accept and appreciate diversity and take a stance
against discrimination within the game. A more recent inclusion into the workshop education is to
provide a programme in prisons and young offenders institutions. All these workshops can be run as

Chipotle Mexican Grill Industry Analysis
In 1993, Steven Ells opened a taqueria in Denver, Colorado built on the idea of offering the highest
quality food with an open kitchen concept. This restaurant was named Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG
or Chipotle) and competes in what is defined as the fast casual segment. The fast casual segment
offers consumers a portable convenient meal option while focusing on using the freshest, highest
quality ingredients to prepare the customizable made to order meals (Subramanian, 2013). There are
two other restaurant segments in which fast casual restaurants compete: full service and quick service.
According to a conference call on October 18, 2012, CMG began recognizing its slowing sales,
increased competition and rising food cost during a depressed economy. Since then, CMG s
sustainability and business strategy have been questioned as to whether CMG can continue operations

The Evolution of the Scarlet Letter
The Evolution of the Scarlet Letter At what point in time can one truly forgive themselves for a sin
they have committed? A week? A month? A year? And what about peers? When do they start forgiving
for a sin? Throughout The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hester Prynne learns answers to
such questions after it is learned she in an adulteress. Hester s scarlet letter serves as a reminder to
herself and her peers of the sins she has committed, and there is a true evolution from the beginning to
the end of the story of the views of not only the letter but the person wearing it from Hester herself,
the villagers, Pearl, and the author. Throughout the story, the reader can clearly identify the contrast of

Even though she often uses it to taunt Hester, Pearl is a constant reminder of Hester s sin and is always
making sure she has her scarlet letter. Although it is mentioned the narrator in the custom house is not
Nathaniel Hawthorne, they are both very similar. The narrator is carefully constructed as being similar
to Hester in the sense that they are both isolated by people whom they have no connection to. The
author feels this way working in the custom house surrounded by old men. I am a citizen of
somewhere else (31). Hester, of course, is isolated from the rest of the community because of her sin.
Even though the narrator feels he will be criticized for attempting to make a writing career, he makes a
fictional account of Hester s story anyways. Writing for him is similar to needle work for Hester, and
it is a further comparison of two similar characters. The author evolves Hester into himself, and it is
made clear that is his intention. In conclusion, the evolution of Hester, the villagers, Pearl, and the
author of the scarlet letter that Hester wears is generally seen as acceptance of her and her sin. The
author develops Hester into a woman who gradually becomes comfortable with the idea of herself and
her sin. Although Pearl never clearly understands it, she recognizes that her mother will forever be a
sinner, but is still her mother. The villagers at first heckle Hester of her scarlet letter, but begin to see

The Importance Of Fighting In The NHL
Fighting has been a part of the NHL since 1922 and it has had a huge impact on the game of hockey
and the sport wouldn t be the same without it. There are a lot of injuries involved with fighting but if
fighting wasn t in pro hockey then there would probably be a lot more injuries. Some players would be
more chippy and run at people and get away with it without facing the consequences for it. Fighting
also has a key part in motivating a team if they aren t playing well.
A fight will spark your team and give them a little more jump in a game most of the time. Skilled
players that rarely fight even agree that fighting should not be taken out of hockey like Henrik

Claude Lemiuex who played for many teams throughout his 21 year career in the NHL was known as
one of the biggest pests that has been in the league. Pests in the NHL are players that attempt to
antagonize opposing players with physical play and by chirping. He is best known for the infamous hit
on Kris Draper where he hit him from behind, forcing Drapers face into the boards. Draper suffered a
broken jaw, shattered cheek, and orbital bone which needed surgery that involved his jaw being wired
shut and a lot of stitches. This hit lead to the rivalry of the Detroit Red Wings and the Colorado
Avalanche. Throughout the next 5 years there were 2 or 3 line brawls between the two teams that even
included the goalies fighting. Darren McCarty got his revenge on Lemieux in the first brawl since the
Draper incident and blindsided him after a whistle in the game. That game had 18 major fighting
penalties that totaled up to 144 penalty minutes combined for both teams. If the NHL didn t have
fighting who knows what else he would have done in games to opposing players but by having
fighting in the game he knew that he would have pay for his actions so he did not play how he usually
did against the Red Wings. Lemieux only received a 2 game suspension and $1000 dollar fine for the
hit so having someone knock him around a little bit was a more suitable punishment. If fighting wasn t
allowed he never would have faced any consequences for that hit because in todays game he would

Account for the growth of TNCs and evaluate their impacts...
Account for the growth of TNCs and evaluate their impacts at the global and national scales (40
marks) A TNC (transnational corporation) is a company that operates in no less than two countries and
has a global outlook. TNCs have a long history going back to the 16th Century in terms of trade such
as spices, but it s not until C. 1945 that companies started to form acquisitions and mergers. The one
key reason why these businesses have been so successful in their area of expertise globally is because
they can take advantage of spatial differences in the factors of production worldwide. They are able to
exploit differences in the availability of capital, labour costs and land cost, which we as a world have
seen, especially in far east ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Growth of TNCs is down to geographical flexibility and being able to shift resources and production
between locations on a global scale in order to maximise profit margins. For example, Coca Cola
Hellenic is leaving Greece; this is so that they don t lose any more money than they already have
done. Athens stock exchange is a lot smaller than it used to be, which has meant the general economic
sickness in the country depresses prices of all companies there. So, the company is to move its
domicile from Greece to Switzerland and the stock listing from Athens to London. This example
perfectly summarises how and why TNCs pack up in certain countries and go on to the next to make
profit, which is what all multinational companies are out to do, make a buck. The growth in TNCs is
also the idea of shifting to a more flexible production system, like JIT production, which stands for
Just In Time. This type of production is exactly what it says on the tin, an order is placed with the
company and only then do they start making the product, this saves time, space and money, as
products are not left in warehouses until an order is placed. This allows for products to be made
quickly and efficiently. In addition, TNCs can take advantage of the advances in technology;
communication and transport meaning the process can be dealt with more quickly, easily and cheaply.
Plus, many TNCs have adapted their production process and have broken in down, this

B. Signaling
Flagmen or other appropriate traffic controls must be provided for operations where signs, signals, and
barricades do not provide the necessary protection on or adjacent to a highway or street.
Stop/Slow sign paddles must be used by flagmen when hand signaling. Red flags, at least 18 in (45.7
cm) square, may be temporarily used in traffic control.
Flagmen are required to wear a red or orange reflective warning vest and a hard hat while flagging.
Required signs and symbols must be visible at all times when work is being done, and removed or
covered promptly when the hazard no longer exists.
C. Cones, Barrels, Barricades, and Barriers
Channelizing devices such as cones, barrels, or barricades are required for jobsite roadways presenting
a hazard to motorized equipment or vehicles. Barriers may also provide a greater degree of work zone
protection.
D. Regulated Work Areas
In adjacent to areas where overexposures to the lead PEL exist, warning signs informing employees
and visitors of the lead hazards must be posted. The signs should

Ancient Civilizations Of Mesopotamia And Mesopotamia
Sumerian (3500 2300BC) Babylonian (1792 1750 BC) both belong to civilizations of Mesopotamia,
but they existed different period. The ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia are the source of the
earliest surviving art; these civilizations were situated between the Tigris and the Euphrates Rivers.
Dating back to 3500 B.C.E., Mesopotamian art was intended to serve as a way to glorify powerful
rulers and their connection to divinity. Art was made from natural resources such as stone, shells,
alabaster and marble, and was often created as didactic pieces. No artist signatures can be found on
most of the work, because the pieces were meant to embody the subject matter, rather than the creator.
Popular items that typify this time period include cylindrical seals, steles, narrative relief sculptures,
and lavishly decorated tombs. More than 4,000 years ago the valleys of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers
began to teem with life first the Sumerian, then the Babylonian, Assyrian, Chaldean, and Persian
empires. Here too excavations have unearthed evidence of great skill and artistry. Examples of fine
works in marble, diorite, hammered gold, and lapis lazuliahve been found. Stone, wood, and metal

The Pros And Cons Of American Political Speech
The largest voices in social language are coming from social media platforms. Currently, Twitter and
Facebook have amassed an audience of millions and heavily influence culture and dialect in the U.S.
Political speech, which uses propaganda, has become a tool for social media platforms. Recently,
elections largely relied on media platforms to campaign and permeated social media language,
because they were over publicized and indoctrinated into people s mind. American political speech is
unethical because it uses propaganda such as silencing, double speak and slanting, which has affected
social media and has become a source of entertainment through pillory. There is an online culture that
s created a new relationship between companies and consumers. This has opened a communication
channel that seems to have adopted speech patterns from politics. When people open apps such as
Twitter, they frequently see companies degrading their customers for laughs. For the first time,
companies such as Wendy s have the freedom to silence people without consequence, because of the
wave of silencing that has been seen in our elections. On Wendy s Twitter there have been instances of
people commenting on their food negatively, and mocked using ad hominem. It gives the impression
of small banter, but this is just one example where people have made a comment, been shut down, and
some forced to take down their comments or accounts due to backlash. This was common in our

Characteristics And Mechanisms Of Agrobacterium Tumefaciens
I. Introduction
If I told you there was an organism that can sniff out it s victim, approach it, infect it, and cause
cancer, would you believe it can also genetically modify it s hosts to incorporate beneficial novel
genes? Agrobacterium tumefaciens is an unsung villain/hero that is in fact, capable of such amazing
things. Agrobacteria tumefaciens is a bacterium that parasitizes plant tissue, and causes what is often
referred to as crown gall yet it is more the virally reminiscent mechanism through which this occurs
than the physical deformity itself that is of interest. Agrobacterium tumefaciens is motile and utilizes
chemo taxis paired with its intrinsic secret weapon the Ti plasmid in order to accomplish gall
formation. Not only is the pathogenesis of this bacteria fascinating, but it moreover leaves scientists
with the opportunity to employ certain abilities of A. tumefaciens to engineer crops rendering
Agrobacterium tumefaciens very integral to modern agriculture, and future research. However with
great power comes great responsibility, and we will see yet, through examining the characteristics and
mechanisms of Agrobacterium tumefaciens whether it is a villain, or a hero!
II. Isolation and Subsequent Culturing Culturing Agrobacterium tumefaciens has been essential in
discovering the full mechanisms of its infection and tumor formation. Moreover, A. tumefaciens can

Nursing Management Theory Paper
According to Sieloff and Raph, nursing management theories are used to describe, explain, predict or
prescribe nursing acts. There are many ways to solve a nursing problem or issue, but nursing
management theories are specifically designed for issues nurses and nurse managers come across on a
daily basis. Hildebrandt and Persily s theory of community empowerment is a perfect example of how
nursing management could handle the challenges of relocating to a new unit. The theory of
community empowerment is a middle range theory and was originally designed to improve the health
of people in their communities, but could easily be adapted to accommodate a different situation. The
theory contains three essential aspects in its framework: involvement, lay workers, and reciprocal
health. This theory is designed to incorporate and empower everyone involved. By empowering the
community of nurses and sustaining employee engagement, patient and employee satisfaction would
remain the same, if not increase (6 Leadership strategies for navigating perpetual change in healthcare,

The African Of African Descent
The people that are one of the most oppressed and restricted throughout recent history, if not the most,
are considered to be the those of African descent. There was, and arguably, still is institutionalized
racism against people of African descent in the Americas, with a prime example being the peculiar
institution of slavery. This institution was so peculiar that, in many countries, the long, entire process
of capturing, enslaving, and forcing of people to work, primarily those that were of African descent,
became so profitable and efficient that slavery became the backbone of an entire country in terms of
labor, such as the United States. Naturally, of course, there was always a constant resistance to this
oppression, no matter where the enslaved people were, or under which circumstances they were
subject to. The Africans that were brought to the Americas as captives by Europeans would resist
against their captors in different ways, and so would their descendants, until they were liberated.
Understanding what slavery was commonly like is important, as it allows one to gain information on
the outstanding cruelties of slavery, as well as give reason to the sometimes extreme resistances put up
by the Africans and African Americans. It is important to note that enslaved persons were fifty percent
more likely to die in their first fourteen years of life when compared to their white, free, counterparts,

One of the challenges is to manage the money supply in order to combat inflation and assure stable
prices. The current plan which should ease inflation is to provide support to the economy through
monetary easing, while maintaining the pace of structural fiscal consolidation (Central Intelligence
Agency ). Another idea that could help is if the central bank raised interest rates which would promote
investing or saving and would reduce borrowing. If inflation spikes and unstable prices occur Poland
would be crippled and growth would be prevented and perhaps digress. Another challenge is to lower
unemployment. Poland s unemployment rate is considered to be slightly higher than the rest of the
European Union. It is a basic economic idea that the lower the unemployment rate the better the
economy only because more people have money which inturn increases spending. The problem
Poland faces involving unemployment is not that there is not enough jobs it is the location of the jobs.
The problem is that the people do not want to move to the cities where the jobs are, mainly because of
the current attitude of the people. For those who do want to move to an area where the demand for
labor is high, face the problem of finding affordable housing (Poland Future). The third challenge is to

The short story The Snows of Kilimanjaro by Ernest Hemingway gives a look into the life of a man
facing death in the African savannah as a result of an infection. Exotic locales and predominate

The Snows of Kilimanjaro by Ernest Hemingway portrays the theme of death by use of specific

He gave up that lifestyle in favor of one revolving around hunting and traveling, and not only changed
his activities but his thinking process as well. His alcoholic drink will dull his senses in the time of his
death and had this been earlier in his life he would soak up the value of his emotion at this pivotal part
of life. This also shows a form of regret Harry holds onto. His exit from his poetic, artistic life into one
of alcohol and hunting is somewhat missed at the end of his life. I m full of poetry now. Rot and
Poetry (260). He is filled with emotions, despite the alcohol, and regrets not having written about them
earlier. [H] e would never write that, now, either. . . although it was well worth writing (262). In the
beginning of the story Harry said he would have liked to write about more things when he was
younger but wanted to have the experience and knowledge before he wrote. His regret lies in the fact
that it is now to late. In Harry s death we see the common emotions of regret and bravery, which both
add to Hemingway s theme of death.
Hemingway s usage of symbolism in The Snows of Kilimanjaro further propel the theme of death.
Animal symbolism is commonly used throughout the story from the very first lines. The two animals
that symbolize Harry s life are the leopard and the hyena. The leopard is seen as the type of person
Harry wants to be and the hyena symbolizes the type of person Harry, over the years, has become. The

Homo neanderthalensis or Neanderthals existed for approximately 300,000 years and during the
Upper Paleolithic or Pleistocene epoch in Europe and western Asia (Smiley 2016: Unit 1). They were

Ironically, the civilised people who brought the improvements could not cope to live in peace with the natives, where countless Aboriginal lives vanished under the superior governance of the new settlers. Regardless which part of the continent including Tasmania, the history has shown many unfair ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Something so simple as thanking someone for holding the door open or smiling at passerby s can make a big difference in someone s day. So, it is even more important to treat loved ones with respect and to show them appreciation, as it means much more than a simple smile from a stranger. Guilt is a very difficult thing to live with. It is better to be courteous of others and thoughtful than to deal with the dreadful guilt. The themes of guilt and appreciation are shown in the poem, Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden. To appreciate and respect a loved one shows them how truly special they are, and lets them know that they are noticed and their actions are not taken for granted. His resignation was prompted by mounting accusations of his involvement in the Watergate scandal, perhaps the biggest scandal the country has ever seen. The Watergate scandal was a series of events started by the break in to the Democratic Party headquarters by members connected to the Nixon campaign with the orders to steal confidential plans. President Gerald Ford later issued a presidential pardon, but many Americans could not forgive Nixon for his involvement. The network security manager can equally use intrusion detection systems and anti virus software to prevent unauthorized access and blocking harmful viruses and malware from entering a network respectively. This paper however, does not focus on these approaches but primarily focuses on how firewalls enhance network security. A firewall is a security technology designed to avoid unauthorized access to or from a private network. Firewalls can be placed in both hardware and software, or can also be placed in both hardware and software. Firewalls are usually used to prevent unauthorized access on a network. All messages entering or leaving the network go through a firewall, the firewall analyses all the messages and then blocks the messages that do not meet the security standards. The administrator sets the security standards which packets need to meet, he/she will decide which packet is suitable to pass through the firewall. (Webopedia.com, 2017), (Services, 2017). Once an administrator has set up a policy, it then needs to be tested to determine if the firewall has been correctly implemented. Introduction Network security has become a major concern in the computing industry, including organizations, personal users and the military. The reason for this is due to the large number of security threats that occur on a daily basis. The internet architecture itself allows many threats to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When we got there the clouds were turning dark gray and the air was very heavy. The fog filled the aisles of the apple trees. • 9. Analysis Of Social Life By Philip Larkin In the first stanza of the poem, Larkin sets us in the middle of mundane middle class English social life. He notes that we involve ourselves in all sorts of socializing; but even though we fill up our time with such social activities, Larkin suggests that such a life is empty and that although we disguise it from ourselves, underneath we really want to be alone. In the second stanza he extends the wish to be alone to its logical terminus, death. He suggests, then, that in spite of our social involvement we all have a death wish within us and that immersing ourselves in the social round is harmful because it is a mechanism we use to prevent ourselves from coming to terms with death and our desire for it; i.e. we kill our natural awareness towards death and the temporal nature of life through indulgence in social traps. • 13. The Next War Poem Analysis In Wilfred Owen s war poetry, the distinctive idea criticised all through all his poetry are the ideas of the horrors, brutality and waste of war and the hypocrisy and lies held by many back homes. This idea is developed a significant amount in two of his poems, Dulce et Decorum Est and The Next War through the shocking images Owen creates. With both poems being written in first person plural, Owen invites us into his poem which allows his idea to be properly conveyed to his audience and his desired outcome, to make the people back home realise the terror of war and complete lack of glory, to be reached. In Dulce et Decorum Est , Wilfred Owen boldly criticises the way civilians mislead and manipulated the unknowing soldiers previous to and during World War I and explores the horrors of war. Owen invites us into his poem by asking us to watch the scenes of men with white eyes writhing he is retelling to make the reader feel what he is feeling, that the war is a waste. He speaks of events he witnessed and the boys reactions to events seen through the simile of coughing like hags . In the final stanza of the poem, Owen speaks reflectively of the terrifying scenes of men with incurable sores he was witness to and at times experienced and from gaining the compassion of the reader through his descriptive language, limped on, blood shod . • 15. Analysis Of Sharon Olds The One Girl At The Boys Party While many leaders in politics, business, science, and education strive for change, there still persists a deep divide between male and female roles in the workplace and in society. This gap begins in childhood as demonstrated in Sharon Olds (b. 1942) The One Girl at the Boys Party (1984). This poem describes a young girl who attends a swimming party where she is the only female guest. It relies on science and math imagery to contrast the boys physicality with the girl s intellectual ability, and to juxtapose her physical features with the boys features. This figurative language creates a distinction to challenge the disparity between male and female roles and their separation in social life, which begins at a young age. Olds use of science and math imagery serves as an extended metaphor for the juxtaposition between the one girl at the party and the other guests, which represents the social divide between the genders. Olds references to math and science contrasts the boys physicality with the subject s intellectual ability. At the beginning of the poem, the speaker mentions that they [the boys] tower and/bristle, she stands there smooth and sleek,/her math scores unfolding in the air around her (Olds 234). This description of the party guests creates an automatic physical distinction between the girl and boys (by comparing their tower[ing] and bristl[ing] appearance from her smooth and sleek one), but also wordlessly defines her by her math scores, rather ... A film whose narrative in of itself keeps the viewer guessing, and plot points are slowly pieced together by the viewer to discover the greater story at hand. And what about peers? When do they start forgiving for a sin? Throughout The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hester Prynne learns answers to such questions after it is learned she in an adulteress. Hester s scarlet letter serves as a reminder to herself and her peers of the sins she has committed, and there is a true evolution from the beginning to the end of the story of the views of not only the letter but the person wearing it from Hester herself, the villagers, Pearl, and the author. Even though she often uses it to taunt Hester, Pearl is a constant reminder of Hester s sin and is always making sure she has her scarlet letter. Although it is mentioned the narrator in the custom house is not Nathaniel Hawthorne, they are both very similar. The narrator is carefully constructed as being similar to Hester in the sense that they are both isolated by people whom they have no connection to. The author feels this way working in the custom house surrounded by old men. I am a citizen of somewhere else (31). Hester, of course, is isolated from the rest of the community because of her sin. Even though the narrator feels he will be criticized for attempting to make a writing career, he makes a fictional account of Hester s story anyways. Writing for him is similar to needle work for Hester, and it is a further comparison of two similar characters. The author evolves Hester into himself, and it is made clear that is his intention. In conclusion, the evolution of Hester, the villagers, Pearl, and the author of the scarlet letter that Hester wears is generally seen as acceptance of her and her sin. The author develops Hester into a woman who gradually becomes comfortable with the idea of herself and her sin. Although Pearl never clearly understands it, she recognizes that her mother will forever be a sinner, but is still her mother. There are a lot of injuries involved with fighting but if fighting wasn t in pro hockey then there would probably be a lot more injuries. Some players would be more chippy and run at people and get away with it without facing the consequences for it. Fighting also has a key part in motivating a team if they aren t playing well. Pests in the NHL are players that attempt to antagonize opposing players with physical play and by chirping. He is best known for the infamous hit on Kris Draper where he hit him from behind, forcing Drapers face into the boards. Draper suffered a broken jaw, shattered cheek, and orbital bone which needed surgery that involved his jaw being wired shut and a lot of stitches. This hit lead to the rivalry of the Detroit Red Wings and the Colorado Avalanche. Throughout the next 5 years there were 2 or 3 line brawls between the two teams that even included the goalies fighting. Darren McCarty got his revenge on Lemieux in the first brawl since the Draper incident and blindsided him after a whistle in the game. That game had 18 major fighting penalties that totaled up to 144 penalty minutes combined for both teams. If the NHL didn t have fighting who knows what else he would have done in games to opposing players but by having fighting in the game he knew that he would have pay for his actions so he did not play how he usually did against the Red Wings. Lemieux only received a 2 game suspension and $1000 dollar fine for the hit so having someone knock him around a little bit was a more suitable punishment. Account for the growth of TNCs and evaluate their impacts at the global and national scales (40 marks) A TNC (transnational corporation) is a company that operates in no less than two countries and has a global outlook. TNCs have a long history going back to the 16th Century in terms of trade such as spices, but it s not until C. 1945 that companies started to form acquisitions and mergers. The one key reason why these businesses have been so successful in their area of expertise globally is because they can take advantage of spatial differences in the factors of production worldwide. They are able to exploit differences in the availability of capital, labour costs and land cost, which we as a world have seen, especially in far east ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Growth of TNCs is down to geographical flexibility and being able to shift resources and production between locations on a global scale in order to maximise profit margins. For example, Coca Cola Hellenic is leaving Greece; this is so that they don t lose any more money than they already have done. Athens stock exchange is a lot smaller than it used to be, which has meant the general economic sickness in the country depresses prices of all companies there. So, the company is to move its domicile from Greece to Switzerland and the stock listing from Athens to London. This example perfectly summarises how and why TNCs pack up in certain countries and go on to the next to make profit, which is what all multinational companies are out to do, make a buck. The growth in TNCs is also the idea of shifting to a more flexible production system, like JIT production, which stands for Just In Time. This type of production is exactly what it says on the tin, an order is placed with the company and only then do they start making the product, this saves time, space and money, as products are not left in warehouses until an order is placed. This allows for products to be made quickly and efficiently. Agrobacterium tumefaciens is an unsung villain/hero that is in fact, capable of such amazing things. Agrobacteria tumefaciens is a bacterium that parasitizes plant tissue, and causes what is often referred to as crown gall yet it is more the virally reminiscent mechanism through which this occurs than the physical deformity itself that is of interest. Agrobacterium tumefaciens is motile and utilizes chemo taxis paired with its intrinsic secret weapon the Ti plasmid in order to accomplish gall formation. Not only is the pathogenesis of this bacteria fascinating, but it moreover leaves scientists with the opportunity to employ certain abilities of A. tumefaciens to engineer crops rendering Agrobacterium tumefaciens very integral to modern agriculture, and future research. There are many ways to solve a nursing problem or issue, but nursing management theories are specifically designed for issues nurses and nurse managers come across on a daily basis. Hildebrandt and Persily s theory of community empowerment is a perfect example of how nursing management could handle the challenges of relocating to a new unit. The theory contains three essential aspects in its framework: involvement, lay workers, and reciprocal health. This theory is designed to incorporate and empower everyone involved. There was, and arguably, still is institutionalized racism against people of African descent in the Americas, with a prime example being the peculiar institution of slavery. This institution was so peculiar that, in many countries, the long, entire process of capturing, enslaving, and forcing of people to work, primarily those that were of African descent, became so profitable and efficient that slavery became the backbone of an entire country in terms of labor, such as the United States. Naturally, of course, there was always a constant resistance to this oppression, no matter where the enslaved people were, or under which circumstances they were subject to. The Africans that were brought to the Americas as captives by Europeans would resist against their captors in different ways, and so would their descendants, until they were liberated. Understanding what slavery was commonly like is important, as it allows one to gain information on the outstanding cruelties of slavery, as well as give reason to the sometimes extreme resistances put up by the Africans and African Americans. It is important to note that enslaved persons were fifty percent more likely to die in their first fourteen years of life when compared to their white, free, counterparts, largely due to an innutritious diet that more often than not consisted of ...
