Sociology Essay On Identity And Belonging
Many people feel uncomfortable showing certain parts of their identity, as they might be ashamed of
it. It has been considered for a long while that, to protect one s wellbeing, it is beneficial to hide the
negative aspects of one s self. However, in 2014, professor Manuela Barreto from the University of
Exeter have found that hiding stigmatised identity may, in fact, decrease your belongingness to the
group. Baretto and colleagues asked participants to hide their stigmatised identity when interacting
and then measured the quality of the interaction. Not only they found that hiding negatively affect
feelings of belongingness, but also they found that other person felt like the interaction was less
authentic, leading a person not only to feel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, they were asked to interact with another naïve participant and to either hide or show their
stigmatised identity. Researchers found that those who were hiding their identity experienced an
interaction as less enjoyable, and, importantly, other participants said that they did not find a
stigmatised person to be authentic. Moreover, external observers rated interaction as being awkward.
Since authenticity is a crucial part of the belongingness, it could be concluded that hiding stigmatised
identity actually leads to less belongingness. According to professor Baretto, instead of increasing
acceptance, hiding a stigmatised identity can result in a lowered sense of belonging and even actual
social rejection. The results of this research could be implemented in everyday life. If there is a part of
your identity that you don t like and wish to hide, think twice. Hiding it may cut your belongingness to
the group. On the contrary, showing it will make you seem more authentic, and, thus, likeable. Hiding
might seem to be an adaptive strategy but it could actually lead to the opposite, it may lead you to feel
isolated, more awkward in social interactions, and, thus, less social

Gay Adoption Should Be Legal
Gay adoption is a touchy subject to a lot of people. Even though gay adoption became legal in all 50
states on June 26, 2017 everyone still seems to have an opinion on the matter and a lot of the opinions
lean toward not allowing gay couples to adopt. There are so many children in the foster care system
that need loving and stable homes so why not let gay couples give that to them? There is a lot of
evidence to show that gay couples can be just as good at parenting as a straight couple. Maybe even
better due to them being committed and better motivated because they chose to be parents. No child
should be denied parents that will give them a loving and stable home just as no couple should be
denied a child due to their sexual preference. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not a single study has found a difference (between children of gay and straight parents) that you can
construe as harmful. (Dan Gilgoff, 2005) While the debate continues on whether or not to allow gay
couples to adopt, the numbers of children with gay parents keeps increasing. Children with gay
parents thrive and continue to do just as well as children in straight homes. However, critics disagree
and feel that children living in gay homes are at risk of having an unhappy life. Gregory Rogers, a
writer living in South Africa, believes that children in gay homes will have issues that include the
instability of homosexual relationships, evidence of widespread pedophilia within the gay community,
and the possible psychological and social problems associated with children reared in homes without a
mother and a father. Rogers believes it is wrong to trust homosexual couples with the fragile and
impressionable development of children.(2013) Even though a lot of people feel the same way that
Rogers does, that does not mean that it is true. Statistics have shown that children that are raised by
gay parents do just as good as children raised by straight parents. Kerry Hosking, a psychology and
metaphysics student said It is not possible to discriminate against prospective (gay, lesbian, bisexual,
and transgender) parents, without also showing utter disrespect for the thousands of kids who need
them so

What Is Reducing Crime Through A Targeted Literacy Program
I, Gracie Woodyard, as the president of this fraternity select Reducing Crime through a Targeted
Literacy Program as the sole recipient of our funds to combat youth drug crime in our community.
While all three proposals gave strong arguments as to why their organization should receive our funds,
programs similar to that stated in proposal two by Marcia Brady, John Walton, and Samantha Stephens
have shown more success in the reduction of drug related crimes when compared to the law and order
techniques used by the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) which is described in proposal one
and the presence of neighborhood patrols described in proposal three. The strongest argument made in

Due to this piece of evidence and the statement made earlier, I believed I had enough information to
eliminate proposal three, Increasing Citizens Patrol Efforts in High Drug Crime Neighborhoods ,
which was also going to use the funds to equip their patrol teams with uniforms, radios, and other
equipment rather than investing it into education and prevention materials necessary to combat youth
drug crime.
After eliminating proposal three, I sat down to compare the effectiveness of Project DARE described
in proposal one and the literacy program described in proposal two. After further research it came to
my attention that despite DARE [becoming] America s most popular drug education program , [t]he
effectiveness of [DARE] has yet to be demonstrated (Rosenbaum, Flewelling, Bailey, Ringwalt, and
Wilkinson 3 31). With this information I further examined proposal one by Ronald Smith and Kendra
Jones which stated, The Drug Abuse Resistance Education program has been active in our city for the
past ten years this statement in conjunction with the previous findings led me to question whether our
funds would truly help to make a difference. After ten years of

How Did Erasmus Influence The Church
Desiderius Erasmus was born in Holland in 1466. Margaret, his mother, was the daughter of a
physician and his father Roger was a priest. He was given a semi monastic teaching and at a young
age, his father sent him to a Latin grammar school. Erasmus had little time with his parents due to the
plague that killed them both in 1483. After his parents died, the guardians with whom Erasmus was
being cared by were persistent about him becoming a monk. In 1492, Erasmus took the holy vows of
monks at the canonry of Stein in Holland. He was soon ordained a priest and poverty was a big factor
in his decision to enter the monastery. In the adult years of his life, Erasmus was a traditional scholar
who studied and resided in France, England, and Italy. 1516 was a major year for Erasmus. He
prepared to release copies of the New Testament in Latin and Greek versions. By translating the New
Testament into Greek and Latin, it presented a new reasonable and logical idea of the Christian
doctrine. This raised questions that would later on impact the Reformation greatly. Erasmus used the
theoretical methods invented by Italian humanists to help his understanding and to help others further
understand the New Testament and the Church. His ideas and discoveries set the ... Show more

A Theory Of Change Process
Introduction A theory of change is a method used in community or organizational planning that
identifies preconditions for a desired change to occur. The theory of change process works by first
articulating an ultimate goal; the desired change. The next step is to work backwards from the ultimate
goal by identifying outcomes that lie along the road to change. Outcomes occurring in both the short
term and long term are defined, as are the prerequisites to arrive at them. Next, a proposed
intervention for initiating action that will theoretically lead to the short term and long term outcomes,
and eventually the ultimate goal, is clearly outlined. The resources required to support the success of
the proposed intervention are then identified. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to their newsletter, GTC (2007) recaptured their mission statement that was developed at
the 1998 tribal member planning meeting. The first line of the mission statement is to re settle the
traditional village of Georgetown as a tribal communal place (GTC, 2007, p.2). This theory of change
will strategize a series of events that will assist GTC in planning to achieve this goal.
Long term outcomes Long term outcomes are essentially checkpoints situated along the road to the
change which immediately precede the ultimate goal. When the long terms outcomes are achieved, the
condition for the desired change to occur becomes present. A long term outcome GTC should plan to
arrive at along the road to change is for several tribal members to be residing in Georgetown for at
least six months per year. Establishing residency in Georgetown leads to an increase in population
which leads the goal of a being a successful, inhabited community. A second long term outcome that
will enhance the conditions for achievement of the ultimate goal is for GTC to own and operate a
small business in Georgetown. Tribal members residing in Georgetown will benefit by having an
opportunity to earn a small income to help with living expenses. The community of Georgetown and
surrounding villages will benefit from the creation of jobs and stimulated economy. Georgetown
Tribal Council will benefit by earning unrestricted funds to continue developing and improving the

Global Economy And Economic Variables
1 COURSE PROJECT MG631 GLOBAL ECONOMY How Global Economy and Economic
Variables are affecting Global Operations of Apple Corporation 2 Executive Summary The
macroeconomic discussi ons that Apple s success tends to be very curious things. Here we have a
company that s been phenomenally successful, making products people love s and directly creating
nearly 50,000 American jobs in doing so, criticised for not locating its manufa cturing operations in
America, eve n as Americans complain about the working conditions of those doing the manufacture
abroad: life in dormitories, 12 hour sh ifts 6 days a week, and low pay . The utility of Apple, however,
is that it does provide a framewo rk within which we can discuss the significant changes that have
occurred across the global economy in recent decades. Apple s products are assembled in massive
factory complexes in China, run by Foxxconn, which also handles the production of consumer elec
tronics for many other large players in the industry. The success of Apple Corp can be traced to
majorly to some of the economic conditions discussed in this report. In section 1, Apple was able to
minimize labour cost in it production by setting up assembly plants in parts of Asia where labour are
cheaper compare to the US. In section 2, economic of scale was discussed as the cost advantages
exploited by expanding the scale of production in the long run. The effec t of this is to reduce long run
average costs over a range of output. In

Castaway Movie Analysis-Journeys
Castaway , directed by Robert Zemeckis, is a 2001 film starring Tom Hanks. Hanks stars as Chuck
Noland, a FedEx delivery man whose life is headed in the right direction , until his plane crashes and
he is stranded on an island. He must adapt to his new life on the island; overcoming many obstacles in
order to survive. Castaway explores three different journeys; physical, inner and imaginative. Chuck
Noland is a filmic representation of the philosophy of time equals money equals fulfilment. Zemeckis

to create a connection between the audience and Chuck. The physical journey in Castaway is Chuck s

His determination and faith serve to evoke optimism within the responder and it gives them hope that
Chuck will continue to survive until he gets off the island. The impact time has on his life is also
evident when he is admonishing FedEx employees. He states We live or we die by the clock. Never
allow ourselves to commit the sin of losing track of time. He says the same thing to the volleyball,
Wilson, when he is planning their escape off the island. The context of when he says it changes the
meaning of this quote. The first time it is said he is passionately trying to get workers to be more
efficient and the quote is an exaggeration. The second time Chuck makes this remark, death is actually
a serious option. Although the timing of his escape is important to him, time is not what is driving him
anymore, instead his desire to get back to Kelly. The volleyball, Wilson, becomes Chuck s only
companion on the island. Wilson is Chuck s need for companionship personified. Wilson is a part of
Chuck as Wilson s face is made of his blood and is the physical manifestation of Chuck s mental state.
I know you. Chuck repeats to Wilson and this signifies that Chuck is aware that Wilson is a part of
him while demonstrating Chuck trying to reassure himself of who he is. When Wilson is lost at sea,
Chuck is devastated at losing his friend and one of the only things kept him sane on the island. Chuck
s palpable anguish evokes sympathy and grief within the responder.

Medieval Period – Feudal System and Architecture
When people think about the medieval period, they tend to think about the knights in shining armor,
crusades, castles, and kings; however, there was more to the medieval period than just this. There are
also the buildings that housed these great nobles and the men who influenced their design. The designs
for these buildings did no simply materialize out of thin air. These ideas evolved from concepts
derived from various cultures. The interaction between the feudal system and the architecture of the
medieval times influenced the evolution of the later designs.
The early architecture of England starts off with the Carolingian family, who dominated most of
Western Europe politics. They tried to emulate the Roman architecture and also ... Show more content

Most large windows are arched while the majority of smaller windows are square with a brace to help
bare the weight of the building. The doorways are also arched unless the door is set in a hallway that is
an arch like shape then the door will be of an ordinary design (Harvey 96). This style of architecture
was not made to stand in war. When the time of the Crusades began England was unprepared to
defend itself. William I, otherwise known as William the Conqueror, led a group of invaders into
England and removed Edward the Confessor from his throne. William implemented a new type of
social structure called feudalism.
Three main things characterize the feudal system after the fall of the Carolingian Empire. First, there
was no defined governmental system present. So the power of rule fell into local landowners. Second,
power was treated as the ruler s possession; the power and right to rule was a private matter that would
be uncontestable by the public. This power could be used as an item of trade, so to speak, or even a
gift. Finally, and perhaps the most dominant characteristic, was the affinity between a ruling lord and
his vassals which, for all intents and purposes, was chiefly military based. William I, or William the
Conqueror, brought about this system and he was both the ruler of England and the Duke of
Normandy. Unfortunately, it is impossible for him to be at two places at once, so it proved a problem

achieve the smash shot as he played that shot particularly well and used it for gaining the most amount
of points as his opponent wasn t able to return most of Harry s smash shots. The way he took the shot
has great technique because he had to do certain body positions to get him ready for the shot. Firstly
he needs to figure out where the shuttlecock is going; he needs the shuttlecock to be going up in the
air but being loopy as well which shows that he has to concentrate and be aware of what type of shot
was played back to him. Next when he has figured out the shot that has been played by his opponent
he would adapt his forehand grip then turning his body to stand sideways towards the net with his non
racket arm facing the net which means he would start to shift his weight onto his back foot where he
can generate the power from then he would start to bend his elbow while preparing for the shot getting
the wrist action ready where then he would use his non racket hand to go up and look at the
shuttlecock to improve his timing of the shot and also to create him to be balanced then he would try

The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas Fear
How does the author, John Boyne, of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas explore the notion of fear in the
novel? Refer to social context
John Boyne s historical fable, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, is an optimistic narration of World War
Two set in the Out With concentration camp. In the background of the war, the story details the life of
male protagonist Bruno, who befriends the unlikeliest of strangers in his attempt to adjust to life at
Out With. In Boyne s portrayal of this dictatorship, the characters go through life controlled by the
notion of fear, only escaping its grasp through the most dramatic of circumstances. The didactic text
paints a picture of how we don t have a choice when we are being controlled by our fear (p.8). Thus,
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During chapter two, Boyne characterises Bruno s fear through the use of dialogue where Bruno froze,
unable to move for a moment (p.17). By implementing this somewhat clichéd metaphor, Boyne paints
a vivid picture of the fear Bruno feels after betraying social etiquette. Bruno knows what he did was
wrong, and later awaits to be called into Father s office to be punished. Boyne introduces the setting of
Father s office as being Out of Bounds At All Times And No Exceptions (p.44). From Boyne s
introduction of the office with capitalisation, Boyne emphasises to the audience that Bruno views the
office as Out of Bounds , suggesting deep set fear towards Father as Bruno has a negative connotation
towards Father s office. This relationship built on the basis of fear is similar in substance to the
relationship between Father and the Fury. Boyne briefly explores this relationship during a literary
flashback. The dialogue where Father states how he has no choice demonstrates to the reader how, like
Bruno, Father was afraid of the repercussions which would occur by going against the rules set in
place by the Fury. This is the basis of the tactic used by hijackers asking for ransom money, they instil
fear in their victims to ensure that they will obey as Father obeys the Fury by moving to Out With.
Consequently, from his character development, Boyne

Positive Effects Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was a Revolution that took place between 1750 1830. During this time there
were some hardships and positive effects with a little bit of both. Throughout this Revolution there
were more negative effects than positive effects. Some negative and positive Effects of this Revolution
are Working Conditions and Wages, Child Labor, Changing Role of Women, Condition in the Coal
Mines, Urbanization, Education, Changing Class Structure, and Industrial Production. Work back in
the 1700 s and 1800 s was known to be very hard and long. Working conditions in the factories were
very hard because they had to work 12 16 hours, 6 days a week of nothing but straight work in the
blazing heat. If you were late to work your wage would decrease even more. They didn t get frequent
breaks, they had to find a time to eat while they were working. There were some days they wouldn t
eat or drink anything all day because they had to constantly be working. Working in a factory was not
flexible with schedules, so most of the time if you had to do something you were not able to do it.
Accidents in the factory were very common because the machines they used were not very safe. Most
workers in this factory got black lung disease from the black coal mine. If you got sick or injured
working in the factory you would lose your job. Therefore you would have to find something else to
do but there was not very many options to choose from. Most likely you would end up not having a
job and not be able to provide for your family. Children back then were very weak and did not have a
good life experience. The poor families were not able to afford enough food to keep their children
healthy which caused them to have weaker bodies and were more likely to get sick. They could get
sick as easy as just breathing in dusty air or they could even become deformed from accidents with
machines. Both boys and girls were hired to work in the factories. These children s parents accepted
the fact they worked in factories because they worked on farms and they needed the money. Not only
were boys and girls hired but sometimes orphans were and they were often beaten. Sometimes
children preferred to adults because they were so small they could

Keystone Pipeline Pros And Cons
From the pipelines that I looked at the most economically and politically viable would be the keystone
pipeline. This is because the United States of America and Canada are very close to each other, which
creates less distance for the pipe to travel through, nor does it need to be built to withstand an

pipeline costs less to build, as less piping must be built, and it does not need any special materials:

Knighthood and Courtly Love in the Time of King Arthur Essay
Chivalry was considered to be the code of behavior expected of a knight. It was the conduct, ideas,
and ideals of the knightly class of the Middle Ages. It became standardized and referred to as chivalry,
a term derived from the French word chevalier, meaning knight. The code urged the knight to be
brave, courageous, honorable, true to his word, and loyal to his feudal overlord, and to defend his
Church. A knight was truthful, honest, capable, educated, physically fit, noble, sincere, and
subservient to the king. A serious violation of these vows could result in a knight being classed as an
undignified knight, which was the ultimate insult because of all the hard work that was put into

Perceval loves him mother dearly. Perceval may not have been the most sophisticated man around,
however, when he did know how to do something he did it exceedingly well. He could not forget his
love for his God though. God was a huge factor for knights and their beliefs. Perceval, the story
relates, had lost his memory so totally that he no longer remembered God. (Story of the Grail, 457)
Once Perceval found his way back to God, he was seen as the better knight because of his love for

such a simple, hardworking fellow. He did not abuse his strengths or downplay his weaknesses.
The other side of this story revolves around Gawain, a knight and a stickler for the rules. He was a

Perceval. Gawain was a big, strong knight who was very loyal to King Arthur and served as one of his

What Motivates Me For College
What motivates me to go to college,to put hard work in,day after day, and to achieve my goals in
higher education is my parents and myself. Since I started elementary school my parents have always
motivated me to go to college. I was always a good student, but, when I had entered seventh grade, it
all changed. I really did not care about school, i have been just whatever about school period. Then it
hit me again in my junior year of high school. Freshman and sophomore I was not really interested in
school and didn t think I was going to college. My parents had a talk with me and that talk changed
me. They were just asking me what am I going to do with my life if I didn t go on with school and all
this other stuff that made me think really hard. I didn t want to make my parents think that their son
was a failure, they raised a failure. I changed my ways and started doing better in school and now I am
currently attending Cal State University of Los Angeles. Now they are more proud than ever, me being
the first one in my family to attend a university. My parents will always be my biggest motivators.
One reason why my parents will always be my biggest motivators is because they know what s right
from wrong and they know life. They tell me and always pushed me to do my best no matter what.
They told me I m going to have a lot of distraction and a lot of things I do not want to go through but,

Accounting for Income Taxes
According to Accounting Theory: Contemporary Accounting Issues by Evans, accountants have
developed two alternative approaches to accounting for income taxes, which are the cash method and
the allocation method. The cash method is described as a simple and direct approach. The amount of
income taxes actually paid for the year is reported on the Income Statement. The amount comes from

Because tax allocation was so complex at the time due to changes in the rates, FASB established an
implementation group for tax allocation in 1988 and deferred implementation of SFAS No. 96. After
FASB issued a special report in 1989 on implementation issues, complications led to the deferral of
SFAS No. 96 again, until 1992, which shows the difficulty of obtaining a resolution on tax allocation
issues.
SFAS NO. 109 FASB issued this statement to replace the complex SFAS No. 96 which was concerned
with the recognition of deferred income taxes. SFAS No. 109 requires that deferred tax liabilities for
all taxable temporary differences and deferred tax assets for all deductible temporary differences and
tax credit and operating loss carry forwards be recognized. The Balance Sheet approach is used.
Deferred income tax assets and liabilities represent assets and liabilities instead of residual deferred
charges and credits. Under the liability method, an enterprise recognizes a deferred tax asset or a
deferred tax liability for the future income tax effects of the difference between the tax basis of the
asset or liability and its reported amount in the financial statements.
Accounting for income taxes continues to be a source of controversy and difficulty for accounting
standard setters. This is corroborated by the fact that the APB and the FASB have three financial

The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall By Katherine Porter
An Analysis of The Jilting of Granny Weatherall by Katherine Porter The author, Katherine Porter,
wrote the short story titled The Jilting of Granny Weatherall . This short story takes place in the
bedroom where Granny is dying, although most of what happens in the book takes place in Granny s
head. As the story goes on, Granny looks back at all the memories she had with her children, and these
memories ease the pain of her sickness. That being said, a major theme that occurs in this short story
is that denial can be useful in helping someone through a time of death. At the beginning of the story,
Granny is told by Doctor Harry that she is severely sick. She detests this by saying, Leave a well
woman alone. I ll call for you when I want you... (Porter 835). Granny has been in denial about her
sickness from the start. We see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This symbolizes Granny losing control of her body. Another instance that suggests that Granny is
actually sick is when Cornelia was leading Doctor Harry out. She meant to wave good bye, but it was
too much trouble, (Porter 835). The denial that Granny experiences helps her cope through the loss of
her body. This denial comes through visions and memories of her children and her late husband. The
vast majority of the story goes through Granny s thoughts of her sickness. She thinks back to her
household when she was younger and her children were all at home. She thinks about how well she
kept her house together. The color blue is a recurring symbol seen. Granny thought about how
tomorrow was a new day and there was nothing to trouble about. She mentions that it s nice to have
everything clean and put away. The first symbol of blue is when she talks about the jars with blue
words on them. It was good to have everything clean and folded away, with the hair brushes and tonic
bottles sitting straight on the white embroidered linen: the day started

Reproductivity Of The Art Of Art By Walter Benjamin
Walter Benjamin writes about the aura of works of art, and how reproductivity can affect the
authenticity of the artwork. Throughout his essay, he discusses the production of art, and how each
piece of art has a specific aura that separates it from any reproductions of it. Some arguments have
been made that reproductivity can degrade the authenticity of a work of art, while others have been
made that it spreads the influence a work of art. While both claims can be made, it is more valid that
the reproductivity of a work of art degrades its authenticity, and that the original art has an aura that
cannot be reproduced. Benjamin begins the essay by analyzing Marx s predictions of capitalism,
starting with the idea that according to Marx, What could be expected, it emerged, was not only an
increasingly harsh exploitation of the proletariat but, ultimately, the creation of conditions which
would make it possible for capitalism to abolish itself (Introduction, pg. 251). Benjamin responds,
however, claiming that fascism itself proves to be dysfunctional, because when considering the
creation of art, several concepts such as creativity, genius, and mystery are all neutralized. Next,
Benjamin describes the idea of authenticity, and how it connects to artwork. He describes it as the here
and now of the work of art its unique existence in a particular place. It is this unique existence and
nothing else that bears the mark of the history to which the work has been subject (Section II, pg.
253). This description of authenticity the idea that an original piece of art has this mark that makes it
unique in its existence is important when Benjamin discusses the aura of a work. This is because this
authenticity is a defining feature that cannot be ascribed to any reproduction. Benjamin then considers
technological reproduction, and how it is not ascribed this authority compared to hand made forgery.
He claims that the two reasons for this are as follows: Technological reproduction is not as connected
to the original artwork than is handmade reproduction, because, for example, a photograph brings out
different aspects of the work than the human eye, such as zoom and perspective. Second, a
technological

The Nativist Perspective Of Native Language
A native speaker of a particular language is someone who learnt that language from birth. A native
speaker does not consciously think about their knowledge of what they are saying, this has a lot to do
with the society and the environment the speaker grows up in.
Linguists have debated for a long time on how and why we are able to learn language. Noam
Chomsky developed what is called the nativist perspective.
According to his theory, every human being is biologically endowed with a language faculty, which is
responsible for the initial state of language development. This inborn ability is called the Language
acquisition device (LAD). The language acquisition device is a hypothetical area of the brain that
explains how children can learn languages

Analysis of a Horses by Edwin Muir Essay
Analysis of a poem Horses by Edwin Muir It is said that one should forget the past and live in the
present
It is said that one should forget the past and live in the present.
However, Edwin Muir s Horses is a poem of past memories only. The interesting part is that it deals
with many conflicts and issues which are prevalent even today. It is thus a bridge between the past and
present and is expressed in the form of a piece of literature. Muir himself said that in writing about
horses in this poem, he was reflecting his childhood view of his father s plough horses, which must
have seemed huge, powerful and mysterious to a boy of four or five. Some of his poems, including
Horses , have a close equivalent in passages from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under the great hulks of these creatures he sees is however another truth. The way these symbols of
power trod, allows the reader to infer another thought. Muir talks about the ritual of trodding hooves
turning the field beneath to brown. This can relate to the nuclear tests taking place, the desire for
power and how it would destroy the earth just as the horses trodding was literally destroying the earth
underneath. The line, Gleamed with a cruel apocalyptic light, has an even greater significance when he
talks as if an apocalyptic war has taken place and the world has come to an end. In Muir s time, this
could obviously refer to the World War or perhaps a civil war and maybe future wars as well. The
manner in which the poet expresses great anguish at the fact that this anger and blind hatred has left
nothing in its wake, throws light on where the world is headed.
The third verse also suggests subjugation of the powerful and privileged over the Underprivileged.
The conquering hooves show the might of the powerful class who dominate the suppressed and force
them into subservience. Muir is depicting the power struggle and hegemony that will always be
prevalent in the world despite opposing views of
Charles Edward Markham. The latter, states in his poem, Man with the
Hoe , after the Silence of centuries , how the oppressed took back their power

Relationship Between Relationships And Family Structures
Relationships can either be monogamous or non monogamous in nature and its definitions and
functions can vary. A monogamous relationship is traditionally characterised by two individuals who
have dependent children or also as a nuclear family. Monogamy is a hetero normative practice that
involves two individuals in a relationship; the couple is not engaged in extramarital intimacy. Nuclear
families also fall under this practice. Polyamory is a non monogamous practice that refers to multiple
intimate partners and experiences. However, some scholars argue that if, or when one individual
engages in infidelity, Polyamory is a viable option to sustain the relationship. Academic research
positions Polyamory as an option that may successfully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
underpins marriage in many Western and some non Western countries. Scholars have continued to
argue the success of monogamous relationships. Harville Hendrix (1990) explains that monogamy is a
healing practice. Partners in monogamous relationships go through many stages and struggles as a
committed couple. Through struggle, partners act as healers that help to work through each other s
suffering (Hendrix 1990). Hendrix (1990) believes individuals choose their partners to work through
the pain together and help them grow through life. Monogamous marriage is a spiritual path to
happiness and commitment between two individuals (Hendrix 1990). A committed relationship
requires monogamy, and Hendrix (1990) contends that healthy and spiritual commitments encourage
the sustainability of monogamous relationships. Although Hendrix (1990) contends that monogamy is
an effective practice, research has largely built a case around the consequences of monogamous
relationships.
Debates have circled around the experiences within nuclear families and monogamous relationships,
and Stelbourn (1999) proclaims it is a largely patriarchal practice. Stelbourn (1999) uses Engel s work
during the eighteenth century, to explain the still existent contemporary debate around the
consequences of monogamy. The work of Friedrich Engels (Stelbourn 1999) focused on the division
between mothers as housewives, and fathers as workers in nuclear families. Women were reduced in

In this paper, I will cover five different pricing strategies used, by retailers and manufacturers, to sell
their products. I will demonstrate how pricing products according to one of the five pricing strategies
chosen works effectively for each company.
Loss Leader
Look in any newspaper circular, it is chocked full of advertisements from untold numbers of retailers
who are trying to push loss leaders onto consumers. The loss leader is an item that is sold below cost
and is designed to lure people to the store to shop. The loss leader might be a popular item, yet an

The entry level $99.00 mattress is good in the sense that it is better than sleeping directly on the floor.
The next level mattress might set you back a few more hundred dollars and might seem like the way to
go, until they lead you to the top end model.
Finally, the salesman will show you the Tempurpedic Swedish sleep system. This mattress is the top of
the line and you may not want to move once they get you to lay on it; in the end, you certainly will not
purchase their $99.00 mattress.
Competitive Advantage
The industry that comes to mind when it comes to competitive advantage pricing is gas stations.
Notice that most gas stations do not want to price their fuel much lower than their closest competitors
do. As soon as one station raises its price, it is almost certain that the neighboring stations will follow
suit within a matter of hours. What is really disturbing is that the gas stations will change their prices
on the fuel that is already in the ground.
A local gas station down the street from my house prices their fuel slightly more expensive than the
Union 76 station down the road. I drive by both stations everyday and notice that as soon as the 76
station changes their price, up or down – but usually up, the local station nearer my house will
discover this and change his price to compensate. This pricing strategy indicates that the local fuel
station, as with most other fuel stations use competitive advantage to price their product.

Breast Lift Research Paper
A breast lift, referred to also as a mastopexy, is a form of cosmetic surgery that raises and firms the
bosom. It does this by the removal of excess skin. Once the unnecessary skin is taken away from the
chest, the surrounding tissue is then tightened and is reshaped by the doctor. This process will support
the new contour of the breast. Having this procedure will enhance your appearance if the upper half of
your body has dropped and no longer looks as if it is situated where it once was.
Over the course of time, a woman s breasts change. The youthful firmness and shape that you once
enjoyed can disappear. In its place, you can be left with droopy and sagging breasts that suffer from a
loss of skin elasticity. This can occur as a result of fluctuations in weight, pregnancy, ... Show more

Do your research first and if you feel it is an operation that would suit you well, go for it.
A breast lift is a viable option for the female patient who is physically healthy and has maintained a
stable weight for an extended period of time. It is also the right choice for the woman who is bothered
by sagging breasts that have lost their volume and shape. If your chest is flatter, is pendulous looking,
or has an elongated shape, you may make an eligible candidate. Having realistic expectations about
the procedure is important. It is also recommended that a person who decides to have this operation
does not smoke.
If after your take your brassiere off, your nipples drop below the crease in your bosom, this may be a
suitable procedure that will enhance your upper body. If your nipples and your areolas point in a
downward direction or if you have enlarged areolas or stretched skin across your bosom, a breast lift
could improve your figure. If one of your breasts hangs lower than the other, a mastopexy will give
you back the uplifted look that you once

base removal in Okinawa may not be feasible, a plausible solution to this conundrum is for the U.S. to
partially remove their presence from Okinawa. Japan would still have some military protection, but
would not suffer the economic strains posed by the current level of U.S. military presence. A primary
concern of this solution is that the U.S. would lack a presence in the Asian Pacific region. To address
this concern, the U.S. army could relocate their army to Guam. Guam is a U.S. territory, unlike
Okinawa which belongs to Japan. An argument against this solution is that the U.S. would have to pay
extreme amounts to rebuild bases and support their armed forces in Guam. The Russian International

Review Of The Overcoat And The Man Who Lived...
Adaptation plays a large role in The Overcoat and The Man Who lived Underground . Bureaucracy
does not affect Akaky because he is used to constant oppression. Daniels initially is oppressed by his

transcends all forms of oppression by believing that he is a God. Daniel s transcendence from social

Hamlet s Relationship Between Hamlet And Ophelia

have seen, see what I see! (2671 2672). The general love and relationship that was administered
between Prince Hamlet and Ophelia were not only complicated but problematic. Throughout the play,
the reader gains a deeper insight into their overall involvement and what lead to the total turmoil of
their love. Arguably, it might be perceived by the reader if Prince Hamlet even loved Ophelia or if she
was only a part of his mind games. Furthermore, the heightened debate of their relationship can be
strengthened either way by numerous opinions, but I believe far in Prince Hamlet s twisted mind he
cherished and loved Ophelia. Throughout the play of Hamlet, there is an emerging of events that occur
within Ophelia. She believed she would marry Prince Hamlet even though her father and brother
advised her to stay away from him because they knew she was not worthy and that Prince Hamlet

Youth to itself rebels, though none else near (2640 2641). During Laertes speech to Ophelia, he
instructed her not to give herself away to Prince Hamlet because no one would seek her anymore, as
she would be viewed as used goods. The reader can sense a form of foreshadowing in the play with
the domination of men in Ophelia s life affecting how she handled her various situations with Prince

A Free Market Area Allows The Free Trade
A free market area allows the free trade between members of the partnership. Moreover, within a free
trade area members of the partnership do not impose any subsides, discriminatory tariffs, or
administrative impediments that would prevent the free trade between the members of the agreement.
Free trade agreements are the most popular form of regional economic integration, accounting for
almost 90 percent of regional agreements (Hill, 2015 pg. 257).
The purpose of a free trade is to promote the trade of goods between the countries within the
agreement. Member of a free trade area do not have trade tariffs imposed on the goods that are traded
between the countries. Additionally, members of a free trade agreement are able to create a
comparative advantage by being able to produce products more efficiently specializing in developing
the products that they are more effective at producing. By doing so, each country is able to increase
their profitability due to their comparative advantages. Comparative advantage suggests that trade is a
positive sum game in which all countries that participate realize economic gains. As such, this theory
provides a strong rationale for encourages free trade (Hill, 2015 pg. 168).
In order to establish a free trade area, each country must agree on the rules in which each country must
follow while operating in the trade of their products. In addition, each country must agree on the
custom procedures that must be adhered to by each member of the

Involved in the escape were Andrew Noxe, Richard Hill, Richard Cookeson, John Williams,
Christopher Miller, Peter Milcocke, and Emanuel. The indentured servants escaped their Master, Capt.

The Contribution Of Victoria Claflin Woodhull
Victoria Claflin Woodhull was born on September 23rd, 1838 in Homer, Ohio. She was an extremely
talented and gifted individual who received little to no education throughout her lifetime. She did not

knew at a very young age that it was her destiny to accomplish great things. She was typically admired
by women because of her courageous acts of individualism. She was fearless and was not afraid to

the United States. She is notably recognized for being the first woman in history to run for president in
the United States in 1872, as well as the first woman to ever address Congress regarding women s

Problem Statement
When changing the dimensions of a pool table I was assigned to find what corner the ball would land
in, and how many rebounds or times it would have to hit off a wall in order to go into a corner pocket.
Every time the ball is hit at a 45 degree angle including when it bounces off the wall. To find the
number of rebounds the equation you use is, (h+w) 2. The way to recognize which corner pocket the
ball will land in is that if the height of the table is a multiple of 2 then it will land in the top left corner
(since the ball starts in the bottom left corner), but any other height will direct the ball to either pocket
on the right side.
Process
The way I found this equation was by simply looking to find any ways there could

INTRODUCTION
When we walk through the halls of a modern office building, unless there are underlying
psychological issues, few wonder if today will be the day the building collapses. Few people question
if the floor is strong enough for their weight, if the wind will blow over the structure, or if there are
enough exits to safely get out of the structure in an emergency. Why is it that all over the world, for
the most part, buildings are relatively similar? Why is it that people don t question the structural
intergrity of a facility every time they enter? The answer is standardized construction through the
incorporation of Building Codes. Over thousands of years the process of regulating construction has
become so engrained into society that few today question the integrity of their office building,
highways, or homes.
ANCIENT FOUNDATION OF BUILDING REGULATIONS
The basic necessities of life are Food, Water, and Shelter. Since the beginning of time man has been

Operant Conditioning In Jurassic Park
Zach and Gray were sent to Jurassic World to visit their Aunt Claire, who is the park s manager.
Jurassic World, a dinosaur amusement park built on the island that was once home to the original
Jurassic Park, sought to increase park attendance by genetically creating a new dinosaur. Masroni, the
owner of the amusement park, asks Claire to consult with American Navy veteran and Velociraptors
trainer Owen Grady on the new dinosaur s containment. This new attraction, the Indominus Rex,
proves to be extremely dangerous, uncontrollable, and uncontainable. The Indominus Rex ends up
escaping and goes around the island killing both people and dinosaurs. Claire decides to have the park
evacuated, but Zach and Gray ignore the evacuation order, opting ... Show more content on

The general response syndrome is known as Selye s concept of the body s adaptive response to stress
in three phases alarm, resistance, exhaustion (Myers, 2014, p.393). The constant stressor in the movie
would be the Indominus rex who poses as a threat to their safety and confronts them with the need to
stay alive, to survive. Phase one of the GAS, alarm, can be seen when Owen and the guard realize
Indominus is with them inside the paddock. We see them become more alert and we can guess that
their hearts have begun to race. During Phase 2, resistance, your temperature, blood pressure, and
respiration remain high. Your adrenal glands pump hormones into your bloodstream. You are fully
engaged, summoning all your resources to meet the challenge (Myers, 2014, p.393). Owen
experiences phase two as he runs as fast as he can towards the slight opening as Indominus follows
close behind. Adrenaline has kicked in and he s using everything in him to run faster. We can only
guess that Owen experiences Phase three, exhaustion, as he lies under a truck covered in oil or
gasoline, when we see him breath with relief after Indominus failed to distinguish his

The Advertisements For Gucci s Perfume And Calvin Klein
According to Miya Yamanouchi, the author of Embrace Your Sexual Self, Both men and women
experience pressure to conform to social standards of attractiveness. Men to look strong and be tough,
women to look pretty and soft. Stereotypes affect every gender in the society because people have a
prejudice on themselves and others. In Men s Men and Women s Women, written by Steve Craig,
addresses the expectations that the society places on men and women. For instance, men must be
masculine and wealthy and women must have a perfect body shape with beautiful facial features to be
considered as attractive. Nowadays, the advertisements are taking advantage of such a social norm to
lure consumers to purchase their goods. The advertisements for Gucci s perfume and Calvin Klein s
cologne are especially good examples to demonstrate such pressure and reflect the consumers
psychological behavior. The advertisements highlight gender stereotypes through utilizing the
impression of opposite sex and incorporate an underlying sense of sexism through the designs of the
backgrounds, the purpose of wearing fragrances and the reinforcements on Women s Men and Men s
Men; these advertisements contribute to the consumers perception of their physical appearance by
delivering a fraudulent image of perfection through their models.
The effects of the chosen background designs of Gucci s and Calvin Klein s advertisements influence
the focus of the subjects in the promotions, consequently targeting the

  • 2. Sociology Essay On Identity And Belonging Many people feel uncomfortable showing certain parts of their identity, as they might be ashamed of it. It has been considered for a long while that, to protect one s wellbeing, it is beneficial to hide the negative aspects of one s self. However, in 2014, professor Manuela Barreto from the University of Exeter have found that hiding stigmatised identity may, in fact, decrease your belongingness to the group. Baretto and colleagues asked participants to hide their stigmatised identity when interacting and then measured the quality of the interaction. Not only they found that hiding negatively affect feelings of belongingness, but also they found that other person felt like the interaction was less authentic, leading a person not only to feel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, they were asked to interact with another naïve participant and to either hide or show their stigmatised identity. Researchers found that those who were hiding their identity experienced an interaction as less enjoyable, and, importantly, other participants said that they did not find a stigmatised person to be authentic. Moreover, external observers rated interaction as being awkward. Since authenticity is a crucial part of the belongingness, it could be concluded that hiding stigmatised identity actually leads to less belongingness. According to professor Baretto, instead of increasing acceptance, hiding a stigmatised identity can result in a lowered sense of belonging and even actual social rejection. The results of this research could be implemented in everyday life. If there is a part of your identity that you don t like and wish to hide, think twice. Hiding it may cut your belongingness to the group. On the contrary, showing it will make you seem more authentic, and, thus, likeable. Hiding might seem to be an adaptive strategy but it could actually lead to the opposite, it may lead you to feel isolated, more awkward in social interactions, and, thus, less social ... Even though gay adoption became legal in all 50 states on June 26, 2017 everyone still seems to have an opinion on the matter and a lot of the opinions lean toward not allowing gay couples to adopt. There are so many children in the foster care system that need loving and stable homes so why not let gay couples give that to them? There is a lot of evidence to show that gay couples can be just as good at parenting as a straight couple. Maybe even better due to them being committed and better motivated because they chose to be parents. No child should be denied parents that will give them a loving and stable home just as no couple should be denied a child due to their sexual preference. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not a single study has found a difference (between children of gay and straight parents) that you can construe as harmful. (Dan Gilgoff, 2005) While the debate continues on whether or not to allow gay couples to adopt, the numbers of children with gay parents keeps increasing. Children with gay parents thrive and continue to do just as well as children in straight homes. However, critics disagree and feel that children living in gay homes are at risk of having an unhappy life. Gregory Rogers, a writer living in South Africa, believes that children in gay homes will have issues that include the instability of homosexual relationships, evidence of widespread pedophilia within the gay community, and the possible psychological and social problems associated with children reared in homes without a mother and a father. Rogers believes it is wrong to trust homosexual couples with the fragile and impressionable development of children.(2013) Even though a lot of people feel the same way that Rogers does, that does not mean that it is true. Statistics have shown that children that are raised by gay parents do just as good as children raised by straight parents. Kerry Hosking, a psychology and metaphysics student said It is not possible to discriminate against prospective (gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender) parents, without also showing utter disrespect for the thousands of kids who need them so ... He was given a semi monastic teaching and at a young age, his father sent him to a Latin grammar school. Erasmus had little time with his parents due to the plague that killed them both in 1483. After his parents died, the guardians with whom Erasmus was being cared by were persistent about him becoming a monk. In 1492, Erasmus took the holy vows of monks at the canonry of Stein in Holland. He was soon ordained a priest and poverty was a big factor in his decision to enter the monastery. In the adult years of his life, Erasmus was a traditional scholar who studied and resided in France, England, and Italy. 1516 was a major year for Erasmus. By translating the New Testament into Greek and Latin, it presented a new reasonable and logical idea of the Christian doctrine. • 7. A Theory Of Change Process Introduction A theory of change is a method used in community or organizational planning that identifies preconditions for a desired change to occur. The theory of change process works by first articulating an ultimate goal; the desired change. The next step is to work backwards from the ultimate goal by identifying outcomes that lie along the road to change. Outcomes occurring in both the short term and long term are defined, as are the prerequisites to arrive at them. Next, a proposed intervention for initiating action that will theoretically lead to the short term and long term outcomes, and eventually the ultimate goal, is clearly outlined. The resources required to support the success of the proposed intervention are then identified. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These ideas evolved from concepts derived from various cultures. The interaction between the feudal system and the architecture of the medieval times influenced the evolution of the later designs. William I, otherwise known as William the Conqueror, led a group of invaders into England and removed Edward the Confessor from his throne. William implemented a new type of social structure called feudalism. Three main things characterize the feudal system after the fall of the Carolingian Empire. First, there was no defined governmental system present. So the power of rule fell into local landowners. Second, power was treated as the ruler s possession; the power and right to rule was a private matter that would be uncontestable by the public. This power could be used as an item of trade, so to speak, or even a gift. Finally, and perhaps the most dominant characteristic, was the affinity between a ruling lord and his vassals which, for all intents and purposes, was chiefly military based. Refer to social context John Boyne s historical fable, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, is an optimistic narration of World War Two set in the Out With concentration camp. In the background of the war, the story details the life of male protagonist Bruno, who befriends the unlikeliest of strangers in his attempt to adjust to life at Out With. In Boyne s portrayal of this dictatorship, the characters go through life controlled by the notion of fear, only escaping its grasp through the most dramatic of circumstances. During chapter two, Boyne characterises Bruno s fear through the use of dialogue where Bruno froze, unable to move for a moment (p.17). By implementing this somewhat clichéd metaphor, Boyne paints a vivid picture of the fear Bruno feels after betraying social etiquette. Bruno knows what he did was wrong, and later awaits to be called into Father s office to be punished. Boyne introduces the setting of Father s office as being Out of Bounds At All Times And No Exceptions (p.44). From Boyne s introduction of the office with capitalisation, Boyne emphasises to the audience that Bruno views the office as Out of Bounds , suggesting deep set fear towards Father as Bruno has a negative connotation towards Father s office. This relationship built on the basis of fear is similar in substance to the relationship between Father and the Fury. Boyne briefly explores this relationship during a literary flashback. The dialogue where Father states how he has no choice demonstrates to the reader how, like Bruno, Father was afraid of the repercussions which would occur by going against the rules set in place by the Fury. This is the basis of the tactic used by hijackers asking for ransom money, they instil fear in their victims to ensure that they will obey as Father obeys the Fury by moving to Out With. During this time there were some hardships and positive effects with a little bit of both. Throughout this Revolution there were more negative effects than positive effects. Some negative and positive Effects of this Revolution are Working Conditions and Wages, Child Labor, Changing Role of Women, Condition in the Coal Mines, Urbanization, Education, Changing Class Structure, and Industrial Production. Work back in the 1700 s and 1800 s was known to be very hard and long. Working conditions in the factories were very hard because they had to work 12 16 hours, 6 days a week of nothing but straight work in the blazing heat. If you were late to work your wage would decrease even more. They didn t get frequent breaks, they had to find a time to eat while they were working. There were some days they wouldn t eat or drink anything all day because they had to constantly be working. Working in a factory was not flexible with schedules, so most of the time if you had to do something you were not able to do it. Accidents in the factory were very common because the machines they used were not very safe. Most workers in this factory got black lung disease from the black coal mine. If you got sick or injured working in the factory you would lose your job. Therefore you would have to find something else to do but there was not very many options to choose from. Most likely you would end up not having a job and not be able to provide for your family. Children back then were very weak and did not have a good life experience. The poor families were not able to afford enough food to keep their children healthy which caused them to have weaker bodies and were more likely to get sick. They could get sick as easy as just breathing in dusty air or they could even become deformed from accidents with machines. Both boys and girls were hired to work in the factories. These children s parents accepted the fact they worked in factories because they worked on farms and they needed the money. The vast majority of the story goes through Granny s thoughts of her sickness. She thinks back to her household when she was younger and her children were all at home. She thinks about how well she kept her house together. The color blue is a recurring symbol seen. Granny thought about how tomorrow was a new day and there was nothing to trouble about. She mentions that it s nice to have everything clean and put away. The first symbol of blue is when she talks about the jars with blue words on them. It was good to have everything clean and folded away, with the hair brushes and tonic bottles sitting straight on the white embroidered linen: the day started ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Reproductivity Of The Art Of Art By Walter Benjamin Walter Benjamin writes about the aura of works of art, and how reproductivity can affect the authenticity of the artwork. Throughout his essay, he discusses the production of art, and how each piece of art has a specific aura that separates it from any reproductions of it. Some arguments have been made that reproductivity can degrade the authenticity of a work of art, while others have been made that it spreads the influence a work of art. While both claims can be made, it is more valid that the reproductivity of a work of art degrades its authenticity, and that the original art has an aura that cannot be reproduced. Benjamin begins the essay by analyzing Marx s predictions of capitalism, starting with the idea that according to Marx, What could be expected, it emerged, was not only an increasingly harsh exploitation of the proletariat but, ultimately, the creation of conditions which would make it possible for capitalism to abolish itself (Introduction, pg. 251). Benjamin responds, however, claiming that fascism itself proves to be dysfunctional, because when considering the creation of art, several concepts such as creativity, genius, and mystery are all neutralized. Next, Benjamin describes the idea of authenticity, and how it connects to artwork. He describes it as the here and now of the work of art its unique existence in a particular place. It is this unique existence and nothing else that bears the mark of the history to which the work has been subject (Section II, pg. 253). This description of authenticity the idea that an original piece of art has this mark that makes it unique in its existence is important when Benjamin discusses the aura of a work. This is because this authenticity is a defining feature that cannot be ascribed to any reproduction. Benjamin then considers technological reproduction, and how it is not ascribed this authority compared to hand made forgery. He claims that the two reasons for this are as follows: Technological reproduction is not as connected to the original artwork than is handmade reproduction, because, for example, a photograph brings out different aspects of the work than the human eye, such as zoom and perspective. Second, a technological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A native speaker does not consciously think about their knowledge of what they are saying, this has a lot to do with the society and the environment the speaker grows up in. Linguists have debated for a long time on how and why we are able to learn language. Noam Chomsky developed what is called the nativist perspective. According to his theory, every human being is biologically endowed with a language faculty, which is responsible for the initial state of language development. This inborn ability is called the Language acquisition device (LAD). The language acquisition device is a hypothetical area of the brain that explains how children can learn languages ... Analysis of a Horses by Edwin Muir Essay Analysis of a poem Horses by Edwin Muir It is said that one should forget the past and live in the present It is said that one should forget the past and live in the present. However, Edwin Muir s Horses is a poem of past memories only. The interesting part is that it deals with many conflicts and issues which are prevalent even today. It is thus a bridge between the past and present and is expressed in the form of a piece of literature. Muir himself said that in writing about horses in this poem, he was reflecting his childhood view of his father s plough horses, which must have seemed huge, powerful and mysterious to a boy of four or five. The way these symbols of power trod, allows the reader to infer another thought. Muir talks about the ritual of trodding hooves turning the field beneath to brown. This can relate to the nuclear tests taking place, the desire for power and how it would destroy the earth just as the horses trodding was literally destroying the earth underneath. The line, Gleamed with a cruel apocalyptic light, has an even greater significance when he talks as if an apocalyptic war has taken place and the world has come to an end. In Muir s time, this could obviously refer to the World War or perhaps a civil war and maybe future wars as well. The manner in which the poet expresses great anguish at the fact that this anger and blind hatred has left nothing in its wake, throws light on where the world is headed. The third verse also suggests subjugation of the powerful and privileged over the Underprivileged. The conquering hooves show the might of the powerful class who dominate the suppressed and force them into subservience. Muir is depicting the power struggle and hegemony that will always be prevalent in the world despite opposing views of Charles Edward Markham. A monogamous relationship is traditionally characterised by two individuals who have dependent children or also as a nuclear family. Monogamy is a hetero normative practice that involves two individuals in a relationship; the couple is not engaged in extramarital intimacy. Nuclear families also fall under this practice. Polyamory is a non monogamous practice that refers to multiple intimate partners and experiences. Scholars have continued to argue the success of monogamous relationships. Harville Hendrix (1990) explains that monogamy is a healing practice. Partners in monogamous relationships go through many stages and struggles as a committed couple. Through struggle, partners act as healers that help to work through each other s suffering (Hendrix 1990). Hendrix (1990) believes individuals choose their partners to work through the pain together and help them grow through life. Monogamous marriage is a spiritual path to happiness and commitment between two individuals (Hendrix 1990). A committed relationship requires monogamy, and Hendrix (1990) contends that healthy and spiritual commitments encourage the sustainability of monogamous relationships. Although Hendrix (1990) contends that monogamy is an effective practice, research has largely built a case around the consequences of monogamous relationships. Debates have circled around the experiences within nuclear families and monogamous relationships, and Stelbourn (1999) proclaims it is a largely patriarchal practice. Stelbourn (1999) uses Engel s work during the eighteenth century, to explain the still existent contemporary debate around the consequences of monogamy. The work of Friedrich Engels (Stelbourn 1999) focused on the division between mothers as housewives, and fathers as workers in nuclear families. Women were reduced in power and ... This mattress is the top of the line and you may not want to move once they get you to lay on it; in the end, you certainly will not purchase their $99.00 mattress. Competitive Advantage The industry that comes to mind when it comes to competitive advantage pricing is gas stations. Notice that most gas stations do not want to price their fuel much lower than their closest competitors do. As soon as one station raises its price, it is almost certain that the neighboring stations will follow suit within a matter of hours. What is really disturbing is that the gas stations will change their prices on the fuel that is already in the ground. A local gas station down the street from my house prices their fuel slightly more expensive than the Union 76 station down the road. I drive by both stations everyday and notice that as soon as the 76 station changes their price, up or down – but usually up, the local station nearer my house will discover this and change his price to compensate. This pricing strategy indicates that the local fuel station, as with most other fuel stations use competitive advantage to price their product. Of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Advertisements For Gucci s Perfume And Calvin Klein According to Miya Yamanouchi, the author of Embrace Your Sexual Self, Both men and women experience pressure to conform to social standards of attractiveness. For instance, men must be masculine and wealthy and women must have a perfect body shape with beautiful facial features to be considered as attractive.
