The British competed with the Spanish who had established colonies in central America and stole
vast wealth and treasures from the occupying natives The English were keen to find similar riches
in the Northern part of the Americas. They also wanted to establish permanent settlements in the
New World to stake the claim of the British government (Wood, 2017). Unsimilar to Virginia,
Massachusetts was founded because of the pursuit of religious freedom. During the mid sixteenth
century, England underwent a Protestant Reformation. Following this, many people believed that
the Anglican Church, the established state church in England, still retained too many vestiges of
Catholicism, including Bishops and some religious ceremonies. The so called puritans wished to
purify the English church. In the early 17th century, some more radical Puritans began to leave
England for Europe seeking freedom from the Anglican church, and its lost others began to
explore the possibility of America as a refuge where they could create ideal religious communities.
Then in September of 1620, the first group of Puritans sailed for America from Plymouth, England
aboard the Mayflower under the leadership of Governor John Winthrop. The grant empowering the
group to create a colony in Massachusetts was granted by King Charles 1 to the Massachusetts Bay
Company (Kelly 2017).

The ethical debate regarding the numerous views on prostitution dates back numerous decades.
Prostitution is seen by many as the absolute embodiment of patriarchal male privilege, clearly
disallowing feminist support or participation (Kesler, 2002, p. 219). However, views vary widely
when assessing different studies such as those that measure the possible harm risks inflected on
women working in the field. There are two main opposing views on this subject matter, the liberal

The overall moral of her article is to sustain the raising of awareness regarding probable physical,
emotional or psychological harm in which prostitutes continue to experience. Also, she attempts to
find a middle ground in which feminists may still speak up without neglecting the real needs of
modern day prostitutes. It is important, however, to acknowledge the existing social divide between

such as dishonest police, intrusive laws, or customers who fail to hold up one end of the bargain
