Essay on Samuel by Grace Paley
Francis1 Samuel lessons learned The story Samuel by Grace Paley takes place on a moving subway
headed towards the Bronx. The passengers introduce Samuel and friends as tough little boys that are
not afraid of anything. The boys are just being boys is also used. Many of the passengers had
opportunities to tell them to calm down or even to tell them to stop. This could of have prevented the
death of Samuel. Some men relive their childhood through the boy s and many of the ladies shaking
their head with disapproval. A woman passenger does approach the boys only to be laughed at when
she warns them about their behavior. As another onlooker thinks he is doing them a favor by pulling
the emergency cord. The end result is the death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the end, Samuel dies a tragic death. The cord puller action did more harm than helping the situation.
A tone is the way the author conveys his or her unstated attitudes toward the story. The tone from the
beginning to the end of Samuel is a serious tone. Some boys are very tough. They re afraid of nothing.
The description Paley gives in the first two sentences makes you feel that the tone is going to be
serious. Another example can be when the ladies in subway car become angry when they look at the
boys. Most of them brought their brows together and hoped the boys could see their disapproval .
They convey the serious tone through the way they feel through facial expressions. Thoughts of one of
the women passenger s shows a mothers concern when she attempts to confront the boys. One of the
ladies wanted to get up and say, be careful you dumb kids, get off the platform or I ll call the cop. The
tone makes the situation serious tone even if it was thought and not an action. In another paragraph her
action show the seriousness of the situation when thinks of her own child. She stood up with
determination and went to the door. Her action tells us that tone was not to be taken lightly and it was
a serious matter. Foreshadowing is to show or indicate an action to be coming. Although the story is
centered around Samuel, it is actually told by the passengers who witness the turn of events of Samuel
and his friends Alfred,

Iconic Photo Of The Vietnam War
Iconic Photo of the Vietnam War
This essay will be a discussion of a famous photograph from the Vietnam War by a French
photographer, Marc Riboud. The photograph was captured in 1967 and it sends out a powerful
message about war. The intention of the photo was to turn the public s opinion against war. In this
photograph, a young woman known as Jan Rose Kasmir comes face to face with guards outside the
Pentagon and she is marching towards them in protest against war. Riboud saw this young innocent
woman confront the guards and he slowly crept up to the side of her and took the picture with her not
knowing. Many years later, Jose Rose Kasmir saw the picture and began to cry as it took her back to
the overwhelming sadness of the war. I will discuss the technical aspects of the image and look at the
various readings that can be seen. I will also discuss my own reflection of the photograph and the
reasons why I chose to analyse it.
There are a number of technical aspects used in this photograph. It uses depth of field which gives a
focused image. The photograph lacks sharpness apart from the flower that Jan Rose Kasmir is holding.
The flower has a sharp focus and looking closely at the image, the quality in the flower compared to
the focus in the young woman s face is quite different. The way that this has been created makes the
flower more appealing than looking at the guards or the young woman. The message in this
photograph is direct and it s clear to see the importance of the

Mexico Social Culture
Social Cultural Impacts
Similar to any outward influence on a country, Tourism has plenty of positive and negative impacts in
Mexico. Mexico qualifies as a developing country due to their economic issues (statistics support
economic growth over the years due to tourism). Mexico being a developing country means, that
tourism is going to have a different impact on the country then it would a developed country (Doǧan,
1989). McGee and Andric support the idea of the Social Exchange theory of tourism in Mexico. The
Social Exchange theory suggests that people are positively disposed toward actions from which they
benefit and negatively disposed toward actions from which they incur costs of some kind (McGee and
Andric, 2009). Environmentally speaking, Mexico has many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Generally, this is a great economic benefit of tourism, which according to the Social Exchange theory,
causes positive disposition, tourism in Mexico particularly, arguably remains problematic for its
culture. Doǧan argues that Tourism contains a major source of intercultural contact between people of
different nationalities. Intermingle of international tourists and Mexican citizens is particularly
supported because, tourists are generally curious about the destination they are visiting and want to
gain insight about the area by way of connecting with the local people. Doǧan also argues that the
changes that tourism induces on countries vary. In Mexico s case, tourism causes Mexicans to stray
away from their culture and to slowly assimilate to the culture of the Westernized World .
Consequentially, Mexican assimilation to the Westernized World makes practical sense, with not only
Mexico s ambition of using tourism to jump start its economy (Wilson, 2008). Geographically,
Mexico boarders the United States which is a very important county in Mexico s tourism industry.

Recommend Elements In The Design Of Audit Trails And Data...
Part 1: Recommend elements included in the design of audit trails and data quality monitoring
programs With today s advancement in technology, most hospitals have developed a data security plan
to ensure that patient data is being handled correctly and is only viewed by authorized personnel.
Hospitals can keep unauthorized personnel from viewing patient information by setting up individual
passwords (Wager, Lee, Glaser, 2013) only allowing those employees to view the patient s information
for them to complete their job task. When an employee is entering information into the system, it
needs to be in real time as much as possible to keep human errors from occurring and for a correction
to be made there will need to be a note attached to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We also need a more secure software to keep those who are not authorized from accessing the system.
One of the ways we can achieve this is by making sure the software that we have is only accessible by
the staff from audit department and not our normal hospital employees (Loshin, 2011). The software
also needs to be designed that once the data has been retrieved for an audit, it can no longer be
changed unless it is approved through the chain of command.
Part 3: Recommend device selection based on workflow, ergonomic and human factors The current
system that we have is not effective for the staff and needs to be upgraded. When choosing a system
for the hospital, we need to make sure it meets the privacy for our patients and is effective for our
staff. When our staff is treating our patients, we need to be mindful of the placement of computers in
patient rooms so staff can easily access them and bring them to a comfortable level for them to work.
These computers need to have the security screen protection covers placed over them so visitors
cannot see the screen as the staff is documenting. I also think we should install the fingerprint
identification to allow fast and easy access to the system, so the staff is able to complete real time
charting and in the event of an emergency they are not trying to type out their password and
forgetting, having this device installed will also ensure that patients are not able to can access to the
computer (Maksimov Kalkis, 2016).

Shakespeare s Controversy
Shakespeare was a playwright from Stratford who had arguably the most influential affect on English
literature and the English language. His works are still praised to this day for their divine superiority,
however, controversy in exceeding amounts has risen over the dispute of his authorship. This
controversy has been the topic of many arguments between differently opinionated scholars who
support opposing theories and beliefs (Friedman XV). A difficult dilemma confronts biographers who
tell the story of the glove maker s son from Stratford on Avon who is supposed to have become the
world s greatest poet and dramatist (Whalen 3). It may seem odd that this confusion and doubt had
come to light in the first place, as the origin of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This quandary is led by the concept of the unrefined man from the Avon (Hastings 479). One of the
first arguments that is ever presented against Shakespeare s authorship is his upbringing. It is argued
that a peasant from Stratford could have never accomplished such great achievements and could never
have acquired such fame (Friedman 1). Furthermore, The author, it is argued, was a learned and
cultivated poet dramatist, probably a member of the nobility (Hastings 480). Moreover, the man from
Stratford was an ignorant and illiterate actor, an unlettered peasant, and an ignorant boor, who has
apparently only sent one letter, and perhaps unsure about how to spell his own name. There is even a
possibility that Shakespeare did not write English (Friedman 1). The lack of information that is
available about his life is quite minimal and has been the backbone of the attacks and arguments
against Shakespeare s legitimacy (Hastings 480). Shakespearean scholars have often had to deal with
arguments that Shakespeare did not have the birth, breeding, or education necessary to write the plays
(Friedman XV). However, the information about his occupation and his life in business and real estate
gives evidence to his life as an actor (Whalen 3). As a business man, it is argued that Shakespeare was
invoked in petty transactions rather than being a playwright. The is an inadequate amount of facts in
regards to claims of Shakespeare s petty

The Journey Of Man By Spencer Wells
Anthropology and genetics are two fields that, when put together, discover some amazing things. Most
of these amazing things are written in the book The Journey of Man, by Spencer Wells. In it, he
explains where humans originated from, and how we came to populate the entire globe. It is both
humbling and riveting, and a great start to understanding how much work truly goes in to studying our
past. The Journey of Man was an interesting non fictional anthropological literary piece where the
author sought to explain how modern humans came to inhabit the world we know today. He began by
talking about the mitochondrial DNA passed from mother to daughter, or the maternal line. Using this
it was discovered that all people had a common female ancestor who lived in Africa about 200,000
years ago. This was one of the first steps in supporting the out of Africa hypothesis. However, mtDNA
could not give all the answers to how humans moved throughout the world, and for that he turned to
the male Y chromosome. By examining this, he and many other geneticists discovered the different
changes throughout populations, and could estimate how long ago they occurred. According to Wells,
modern humans were in Africa 60,000 years ago, and from that point began to migrate outward. For
each new area, such as Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and others, there were specific
polymorphisms on the Y chromosome that defined each population. By using this technique, he was
able to map out when modern

Civilian Criminal Process
A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF CIVILIAN AND MILITARY CRIMINAL PROCEDURES
Introduction
When a crime has been committed, the case proceeds through the criminal justice system from
investigation and arrest through probation and parole. However, the process can vary wildly between a
civilian offender being tried at the local, state, or federal level and a military offender being tried in a
military court martial.
The Civilian Criminal Process
Pre Trial Procedure The civilian process begins with the investigation. Once an investigation is
cleared, warrants are issued and the police make an arrest. In some cases, such as when an officer
witnesses the crime taking place, the arrest may proceed the warrant or the case may go straight from

offenders will be classified and assigned to a specific corrections facility. Which facility is utilized
depends on local procedures, confinement facilities, and treatment programs. Common problems with

Playing Sports Throughout Your Childhood
Sports can teach you many things about life and education without you even noticing it. Every sport
has an effect on your education by the way you interact with your teammates and coaches. The
coaches are able to teach you new skills that will be useful in the future of your sport and life.
Constantly being around all these people help you learn new things that you probably had no idea
about. The research we found shows that playing sports throughout your childhood helps improve
learning how to focus and how to adapt to real world situations that you might not be put through in
the educational world. Most people think that writing is just taught throughout school however sports
and coaches play a major role in the way you write as in getting taught different ways, learning new
skills, and expanding your vocabulary. Sports are not just around to have some fun every once in

supports you literacy, you can have other than your parents and teachers. In Natalie Gils s online
article she talks about The skills gained from doing sports, such as learning to focus and improvise,
could improve your academic performance (Gils). As she explains in this quote, coaches teach these
skills throughout your childhood sports that can not be taught in a classroom by a teacher. When
coaches teach a student on how to do something they are able to discipline you until you get it right.

First Person Narrative Essay
The first person narrative is a story told from the first person perspective. The narrator is speaking
directly about him or herself. The first person narrator can be either subjective or objective. The third
objective narrative is a story told by a nonparticipating character. The narrator is usually detached
from the story. Sometimes, the narrator completely penetrates the mind of a character. Third person
narration is often used in documentaries. The omniscient narrators are often not part of the story but
are all knowing observers. These narrators tell the reader all the facts we need to know to fully
understand the story. Since the woman thinks that she is seeing a ghost, I would use the first person
narration. This way the camera can capture all the action through her eyes and emphasizes her fear. ...

The story might be told by a group of people or just one person. For instance, the story can be created
by the producers, the directors, and the writers working together. However, in a film with voice over

in realist movies is almost invisible. The story unfolds by itself in a chronological order. The narration
in classical movies is more obvious. There is a discreet storyteller who help direct the story and keep
everything on track. In formalist movies, the narrator is manipulative. The narrator often destroys the
chronological order of the story and restructures events to emphasize a point. The narration in The

Helicopter Parenting Analysis
Helicopter parenting is when a parent or guardian is overly concerned, and involved in their child s
performance in various activities and their physical well being. As discussed in lecture, this concept
largely stems from the idea that the world has become increasingly dangerous since the parents of the
millennial generation were children and in turn they over compensate by becoming involved in their
children s action and life decisions, both big and small. During this observation I noticed many
insistences of helicopter parenting, the most prominent were the parents in the stands who were
shouting very loudly the entire game. Though they allowed their child to play a contact sport many of
them spent the entire game literally on the edge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Salem witchcraft trials of 1692, which resulted in 19 executions, and 150 accusations of
witchcraft, are one of the historical events almost everyone has heard of. They began when three
young girls, Betty Parris, Abigail Williams and Ann Putnam began to have hysterical fits, after being
discovered engaging in forbidden fortune telling (not dancing naked in the woods) to learn what sorts
of men they would marry. Betty s father, the Reverend Samuel Parris, called in more senior authorities
to determine if the girls affliction was caused by witchcraft. Although Betty was sent away fairly soon,

Whereas in the past everyone in a locality had followed the same religion, people were now exposed
to Christianity and the local religions of people who had moved to their region, or whose regions they
had moved to. In the cities of central and southern Africa, many local religions and Christian sects
could be found, as well as Islam. Belief in witchcraft tended to unite people across religious
differences. Typically, the names brought to witch finders were those of the same sort of local enemies
we have become familiar with in reading about the Azande. As the frenzy increased, people began to
be accused who had not aroused any particular jealousies, possibly because they possessed a peculiar
bag or horn, which might be said to contain medicine in one reported case, such a container did indeed
contain medicine but ordinary physical medicine, not magical substances. These crazes tended to die
down, often after considerable conflict and property damage, and the witch finders would then move
on to the next town. As witchcraft accusations still occur in the area, we can conclude that the
movements did not get rid of witches forever, nor, unlike the situation Salem or Europe, did belief in
witchcraft itself actually end with the witch crazes.
The actual execution of witches was not usually a feature in African witchcraft, so there was probably
less to repent in the end, though there

to understand their biology.
First off, sharks have many distinguishing physical characteristics. Like their iconic dorsal fins, A

So why can t the Rangers take the next step? One year after losing to the St. Louis Cardinals in the

Arguments Against Propaganda In Elections
With the elections approaching, it is now time to concentrate on how we want to introduce you. It is
critical that you earn the highest amount of votes possible so that your place in the office is secured.
With in your ads, there should be strategies to influence the voters decisions, like testimonials/
endorsements, stacking the deck, plain folks, negative or attack ads, glittering generalities and guilt by
association/coat tailing. With these strategies stated, I have decided which one to use by evaluating the
amount of information, effectiveness, and ethics so that we can achieve the largest figure of votes and
prevent your opponent from winning. This criteria demonstrates which forms of campaign propaganda
work the best. Campaign is the form of rivalry that candidates use in the hope of winning the elections
and posses a seat in office. Propaganda is advertising used to change the point of view of either a
buyer or voter. Additionally, a plan to obtain a certain goal is a strategy. Upon the one million dollars
this campaign has for advertisement, I have determined that $100,000 should be given towards
testimonials/ endorsements, $300,000 to plain folks, and the highest amount of money, $600,000 to
stacking the deck. A great way to connect to voters is by using testimonials/endorsements, which is
why I claim $100,000 should go toward this strategy. In the 1984 election for the spot of vice
president, Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro used the names of groups on buttons to show

Analysis Of The Article City Limits On Racial Equality
Desegregation: 1968 1976
The article City Limits on Racial Equality: The Effects of City Suburb Boundaries on Public School
Desegregation by David R. James(1989), discusses people s perceptions while choosing schools on
the basis of racial mix in students population of school. It is argued that public schools have to apply
methods of desegregation to ensure proper racial mix in schools. White people from affluent families
try to avoid schools that have large populations of black students. Some families that are able to afford
living far from their work, also relocate to ensure that their children are not going to schools that have
high percentages of black students.
Private schools are not generally subject to strict rules for desegregation; rules applied to private
schools for this purpose are not generally implemented properly. On the other hand, public schools are
made to apply stricter rules. It is argued that for proper implementation of desegregation in public
schools, it is important to apply common desegregation programs throughout the whole district
schools. Recognizing these facts, plaintiffs in the 1974 Detroit case argued that Detroit School District
could not be successfully desegregated unless all public schools in the metropolitan area were subject
to a common desegregation order (p.page#). Courts of different districts have also pushed local
governments to apply such rules and standardize the procedure of admissions in schools, in order to
ensure that

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Franchise
In the modern world of entrepreneurship, motivated men and women are faced with the task of either
creating their own business or taking on the marks and practices of another existing brand. The latter
is franchising, and it presents a host of benefits and possible disadvantages to the aspiring inquirer. A
franchise, by definition, is a binding, legal contract that enables the rights, marks, and other notable
elements of a given brand, referred to as the franchisor, to be used by a second party the franchisee
(What is Franchising?, n.d.). Further expanding the opportunities available to new and veteran
entrepreneurs is that franchises come in two distinctly different types: product distribution franchises
and business format franchises. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also prudent to consider that the franchise fee can be indicative of the level of trust. The amount
of trust a franchisor hold with their franchisees can, at times, mitigate overall costs involved, lowering
the risk for prospective franchisees (Herz, Hutzinger, Seferagic, Winsperger, 2016). To illustrate this,
the initial franchise fee is lowered for existing franchisees and those seeking a successive contractual
term. Furthermore, an excess of trust is shown on behalf of the SHOPPE COMPANY, as one would
imagine the initial fee ($10,000) would outsize the secondary ($20,000) to lower the risk of delinquent
payments and ensure the commitment of the applicant.
Additional costs are required over the lifespan of the franchisee outlet, and are left to the discretion of
the franchisor. Royalty payments and advertising fees are commonplace in franchise agreements, and
are unsurprisingly present here. The SHOPPE COMPANY requires a royalty payment of 4% of
weekly gross profits, which are to be reported every Monday (Sample Franchise Agreement, 2006,
p.11). Advertising fees present themselves as both GENERAL MARKETING CONTRIBUTIONS
(GMC) and LOCAL MARKETING CONTRIBUTIONS (LMC). 1/12th of the required annual GMC
(never less than $3,000) is to be paid every month, while the LMC amounts to only 1% of weekly
gross profits (pp. 13 14). Establishing fees and

Refugees In Camps During The Refugee Crisis
During the refugee crisis there was some international governmental and non governmental aid for the
refugees in the country still those 350 000 400 000 (vidi pogore) were enormous burden for
Macedonian economy. That was third reason for accommodating refugees in camps instead
incorporating them in the society. Their potential influence on Macedonians economy and establishing
refugees camps can be observed thru the possible impact on local and national economy. Because
these two factors are very closely connected they will be elaborated and overviewed simultaneously.
Refugees escaping from ethnic cleansing were arriving in Macedonia only with few necessities, and
were relaying on Aid from host nation. In that time the biggest economy issue for Macedonian
government was unemployment, statistic said that around 32% of the population was unemployed, or
around 350 000 people. So people in order to survive were working on black market, and without
insurance. At some level that was tolerated from the government because it was providing existence
for people and social peace in the country. Black market and working without insurance had a big
influence for local and national economy. Major concern for government if refugees were
incorporated into the society was that these 350 000 400 000 refugees, in conditions of no income was
more than possible that they would seek for job in the country on black market. Also around 50 000 60

Teens like to “hang out” at malls and meet their friends (Baker Haytko 2000). Indeed, visiting
and shopping with friends are major activities for teens. Talking to other shoppers and enjoying the
crowd are surprising preferences of customers (Kang et al., 1999). The friendliness and conduciveness
of the mall to these activities affects the level the mall spending on the part of the teens. Meeting and
spending time with friends makes a difference in mall choice (Wang et. al., 2000). The physical
appearance of the mall also contributes to mall preferences. These include availability of unique store
design, good air quality and lightning, temperature, spaciousness of internal layout, cleanliness, and
even ease of finding car parking lot (Ibrahim et al., 2002). Other factors that influence the mall
environment perceptions are fashion, clean, organization, reflection of local culture, appeal, sensible,
and function (Kinley et al., 2003). Having adequate aisles and easy to follow layout positively adds to
mall choice (Keep et. al., 1995; Ibrahim et. al., 2002). Interestingly, they also found differential

Game of Thrones is faced with at least one near death experience, and all of the characters handle it in
different ways. Being faced with death constantly leads to a couple of questions what emotions should
we face when we are about to die, and should we be afraid of death? Death eventually comes for all of

Death is a scary thing because of the unknowns that surround death. Religion often help to answer all
the unknowns because we get an end point in our life just like Heidegger said. The end point and
beginning point of our world and life help us find closure. So, to answer the question what emotions
should we face when we are about to die, and should we be afraid of death? The emotions that
surround death will always change with the circumstance, but fear is a very normal and acceptable
emption to fear, especially without a belief in an afterlife. However, it is also acceptable to not fear
death. I don t think there is actually an acceptable emotion or answer to the question that I posed. By
looking at several of the characters in Game of Thrones I noticed that all of the characters went
through different emotions right before their death. I also noticed that none of the emotions that they
felt were incorrect or not justified. Depending on age, circumstance of death, and belief in
religion/afterlife you will have different feelings towards death, but all of these feelings are valid.

Poaching In Africa Essay
Poaching in Africa
Over the past 40 years, nearly 52 percent of the world s wildlife has been wiped out of existence.
Africa s large mammal population, alone, has taken a toll of 59 percent since 1970. A majority of this
massive deflation has been caused by the astounding abundance of poaching in these regions. Africa s
increasing rates of illegal poaching are a result of humanity s selfish demand for an individual body
part such as tusks, pelts, or bones, which can be sold on the black market for large sums of money.
Poaching in Africa is not only illegal, but morally wrong. Efforts to end poaching entirely should be a
priority, and with help, it can be stopped.
At current rates, elephants and rhinos may be completely killed off within our lifetime. Some other
animals that are on the verge of endangerment, due to poaching, are the gorilla, the lion, and the zebra.
These were not the first animals, however, to be this close to extinction. The quagga a zebra like
mammal, whose hide faded into a solid color was actually a real animal at one time. Its existence only
lasted until the early 1870s, when the last of its kind were killed off by hunters, and sold to the public

Comparing Plant Organs And Their Nutrients
Comparing Plant Organs and their Nutrients
Abstract: In this experiment, we wanted to determine the starch and glucose content of different plant
parts including: fruits, stems, leaves, and roots. To do this, we tested a food in each of these categories
with Lugol s and Benedict s solutions after being heated in a hot water bath. The color of each
solution would then be compared to the Lugol s and benedict s indicators to determine how much
starch and glucose is in each. We believed that fruits would have the most starch and glucose out of
the plant parts because of its role in plant reproduction (seed dispersal). Through the experiment, we
discovered that the fruit does have the most glucose, but the roots have the most starch. ... Show more

In contrast, there is glucose that is considered a simple sugar or a monosaccharide due to its structure
(Georgia State University). Most foods made of glucose molecules are used as sources of energy for
animals as ATP (Georgia State University). Both these sugars are in our diets, yet they are quiet
different in chemical structure and physical form. This is why a substance that contains starch, does
not always contains glucose (Shorter KR). To test for these two carbohydrates, two different tests were
developed: Lugol s and Benedict s. Lugol s indicates whether or not a substance contains starch, and if
so, how much (Shorter KR). This is determined based on a color scale (5 different shades), from
amber to a bluish black (Shorter KR). The farther down the scale, the more starch the substance
contains. Likewise, the Benedict s solution indicates the amount of starch as the 8 color shades (light
blue to dark green) progress (Shorter KR).
Hypothesis:
➢ If Lugol s solution is used to test different types of plant parts, then there will be more starch in the
fruits (reproductive parts) than stems, because fruits are where seed dispersal is located which is a

➢ If Benedict s solution was added to solutions of water and plant parts, then there would be more

The passengers introduce Samuel and friends as tough little boys that are not afraid of anything. The boys are just being boys is also used. Many of the passengers had opportunities to tell them to calm down or even to tell them to stop. This could of have prevented the death of Samuel. Some men relive their childhood through the boy s and many of the ladies shaking their head with disapproval. A woman passenger does approach the boys only to be laughed at when she warns them about their behavior. As another onlooker thinks he is doing them a favor by pulling the emergency cord. The end result is the death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the end, Samuel dies a tragic death. The cord puller action did more harm than helping the situation. A tone is the way the author conveys his or her unstated attitudes toward the story. The tone from the beginning to the end of Samuel is a serious tone. Some boys are very tough. They re afraid of nothing. The description Paley gives in the first two sentences makes you feel that the tone is going to be serious. Another example can be when the ladies in subway car become angry when they look at the boys. Most of them brought their brows together and hoped the boys could see their disapproval . They convey the serious tone through the way they feel through facial expressions. Thoughts of one of the women passenger s shows a mothers concern when she attempts to confront the boys. One of the ladies wanted to get up and say, be careful you dumb kids, get off the platform or I ll call the cop. The tone makes the situation serious tone even if it was thought and not an action. In another paragraph her action show the seriousness of the situation when thinks of her own child. She stood up with determination and went to the door. Her action tells us that tone was not to be taken lightly and it was a serious matter. Foreshadowing is to show or indicate an action to be coming. • 4. Iconic Photo Of The Vietnam War Iconic Photo of the Vietnam War This essay will be a discussion of a famous photograph from the Vietnam War by a French photographer, Marc Riboud. The photograph was captured in 1967 and it sends out a powerful message about war. The intention of the photo was to turn the public s opinion against war. In this photograph, a young woman known as Jan Rose Kasmir comes face to face with guards outside the Pentagon and she is marching towards them in protest against war. Riboud saw this young innocent woman confront the guards and he slowly crept up to the side of her and took the picture with her not knowing. Many years later, Jose Rose Kasmir saw the picture and began to cry as it took her back to the overwhelming sadness of the war. I will discuss the technical aspects of the image and look at the various readings that can be seen. I will also discuss my own reflection of the photograph and the reasons why I chose to analyse it. There are a number of technical aspects used in this photograph. It uses depth of field which gives a focused image. The photograph lacks sharpness apart from the flower that Jan Rose Kasmir is holding. The flower has a sharp focus and looking closely at the image, the quality in the flower compared to the focus in the young woman s face is quite different. The way that this has been created makes the flower more appealing than looking at the guards or the young woman. The message in this photograph is direct and it s clear to see the importance of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mexico being a developing country means, that tourism is going to have a different impact on the country then it would a developed country (Doǧan, 1989). McGee and Andric support the idea of the Social Exchange theory of tourism in Mexico. The Social Exchange theory suggests that people are positively disposed toward actions from which they benefit and negatively disposed toward actions from which they incur costs of some kind (McGee and Andric, 2009). Environmentally speaking, Mexico has many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Generally, this is a great economic benefit of tourism, which according to the Social Exchange theory, causes positive disposition, tourism in Mexico particularly, arguably remains problematic for its culture. Doǧan argues that Tourism contains a major source of intercultural contact between people of different nationalities. Intermingle of international tourists and Mexican citizens is particularly supported because, tourists are generally curious about the destination they are visiting and want to gain insight about the area by way of connecting with the local people. Doǧan also argues that the changes that tourism induces on countries vary. In Mexico s case, tourism causes Mexicans to stray away from their culture and to slowly assimilate to the culture of the Westernized World . Consequentially, Mexican assimilation to the Westernized World makes practical sense, with not only Mexico s ambition of using tourism to jump start its economy (Wilson, 2008). Part 1: Recommend elements included in the design of audit trails and data quality monitoring programs With today s advancement in technology, most hospitals have developed a data security plan to ensure that patient data is being handled correctly and is only viewed by authorized personnel. Hospitals can keep unauthorized personnel from viewing patient information by setting up individual passwords (Wager, Lee, Glaser, 2013) only allowing those employees to view the patient s information for them to complete their job task. One of the ways we can achieve this is by making sure the software that we have is only accessible by the staff from audit department and not our normal hospital employees (Loshin, 2011). The software also needs to be designed that once the data has been retrieved for an audit, it can no longer be changed unless it is approved through the chain of command. Part 3: Recommend device selection based on workflow, ergonomic and human factors The current system that we have is not effective for the staff and needs to be upgraded. When choosing a system for the hospital, we need to make sure it meets the privacy for our patients and is effective for our staff. When our staff is treating our patients, we need to be mindful of the placement of computers in patient rooms so staff can easily access them and bring them to a comfortable level for them to work. These computers need to have the security screen protection covers placed over them so visitors cannot see the screen as the staff is documenting. I also think we should install the fingerprint identification to allow fast and easy access to the system, so the staff is able to complete real time charting and in the event of an emergency they are not trying to type out their password and forgetting, having this device installed will also ensure that patients are not able to can access to the computer (Maksimov Kalkis, 2016). ... This quandary is led by the concept of the unrefined man from the Avon (Hastings 479). One of the first arguments that is ever presented against Shakespeare s authorship is his upbringing. It is argued that a peasant from Stratford could have never accomplished such great achievements and could never have acquired such fame (Friedman 1). Furthermore, The author, it is argued, was a learned and cultivated poet dramatist, probably a member of the nobility (Hastings 480). Moreover, the man from Stratford was an ignorant and illiterate actor, an unlettered peasant, and an ignorant boor, who has apparently only sent one letter, and perhaps unsure about how to spell his own name. There is even a possibility that Shakespeare did not write English (Friedman 1). The lack of information that is available about his life is quite minimal and has been the backbone of the attacks and arguments against Shakespeare s legitimacy (Hastings 480). Shakespearean scholars have often had to deal with arguments that Shakespeare did not have the birth, breeding, or education necessary to write the plays (Friedman XV). However, the information about his occupation and his life in business and real estate gives evidence to his life as an actor (Whalen 3). Most of these amazing things are written in the book The Journey of Man, by Spencer Wells. In it, he explains where humans originated from, and how we came to populate the entire globe. It is both humbling and riveting, and a great start to understanding how much work truly goes in to studying our past. The Journey of Man was an interesting non fictional anthropological literary piece where the author sought to explain how modern humans came to inhabit the world we know today. He began by talking about the mitochondrial DNA passed from mother to daughter, or the maternal line. Using this it was discovered that all people had a common female ancestor who lived in Africa about 200,000 years ago. This was one of the first steps in supporting the out of Africa hypothesis. However, mtDNA could not give all the answers to how humans moved throughout the world, and for that he turned to the male Y chromosome. By examining this, he and many other geneticists discovered the different changes throughout populations, and could estimate how long ago they occurred. According to Wells, modern humans were in Africa 60,000 years ago, and from that point began to migrate outward. For each new area, such as Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and others, there were specific polymorphisms on the Y chromosome that defined each population. By using this technique, he was able to map out when modern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Article City Limits On Racial Equality Desegregation: 1968 1976 The article City Limits on Racial Equality: The Effects of City Suburb Boundaries on Public School Desegregation by David R. James(1989), discusses people s perceptions while choosing schools on the basis of racial mix in students population of school. It is argued that public schools have to apply methods of desegregation to ensure proper racial mix in schools. White people from affluent families try to avoid schools that have large populations of black students. Some families that are able to afford living far from their work, also relocate to ensure that their children are not going to schools that have high percentages of black students. Private schools are not generally subject to strict rules for desegregation; rules applied to private schools for this purpose are not generally implemented properly. On the other hand, public schools are made to apply stricter rules. It is argued that for proper implementation of desegregation in public schools, it is important to apply common desegregation programs throughout the whole district schools. Recognizing these facts, plaintiffs in the 1974 Detroit case argued that Detroit School District could not be successfully desegregated unless all public schools in the metropolitan area were subject to a common desegregation order (p.page#). A franchise, by definition, is a binding, legal contract that enables the rights, marks, and other notable elements of a given brand, referred to as the franchisor, to be used by a second party the franchisee (What is Franchising?, n.d.). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also prudent to consider that the franchise fee can be indicative of the level of trust. The amount of trust a franchisor hold with their franchisees can, at times, mitigate overall costs involved, lowering the risk for prospective franchisees (Herz, Hutzinger, Seferagic, Winsperger, 2016). To illustrate this, the initial franchise fee is lowered for existing franchisees and those seeking a successive contractual term. Furthermore, an excess of trust is shown on behalf of the SHOPPE COMPANY, as one would imagine the initial fee ($10,000) would outsize the secondary ($20,000) to lower the risk of delinquent payments and ensure the commitment of the applicant. Additional costs are required over the lifespan of the franchisee outlet, and are left to the discretion of the franchisor. Royalty payments and advertising fees are commonplace in franchise agreements, and are unsurprisingly present here. So people in order to survive were working on black market, and without insurance. At some level that was tolerated from the government because it was providing existence for people and social peace in the country. Black market and working without insurance had a big influence for local and national economy. Major concern for government if refugees were incorporated into the society was that these 350 000 400 000 refugees, in conditions of no income was more than possible that they would seek for job in the country on black market. Indeed, visiting and shopping with friends are major activities for teens. Talking to other shoppers and enjoying the crowd are surprising preferences of customers (Kang et al., 1999). The friendliness and conduciveness of the mall to these activities affects the level the mall spending on the part of the teens. Meeting and spending time with friends makes a difference in mall choice (Wang et. al., 2000). The physical appearance of the mall also contributes to mall preferences. These include availability of unique store design, good air quality and lightning, temperature, spaciousness of internal layout, cleanliness, and even ease of finding car parking lot (Ibrahim et al., 2002). Other factors that influence the mall environment perceptions are fashion, clean, organization, reflection of local culture, appeal, sensible, and function (Kinley et al., 2003). Having adequate aisles and easy to follow layout positively adds to mall choice (Keep et. al., 1995; Ibrahim et. al., 2002). The emotions that surround death will always change with the circumstance, but fear is a very normal and acceptable emption to fear, especially without a belief in an afterlife. However, it is also acceptable to not fear death. I don t think there is actually an acceptable emotion or answer to the question that I posed. By looking at several of the characters in Game of Thrones I noticed that all of the characters went through different emotions right before their death. I also noticed that none of the emotions that they felt were incorrect or not justified. Africa s large mammal population, alone, has taken a toll of 59 percent since 1970. A majority of this massive deflation has been caused by the astounding abundance of poaching in these regions. Africa s increasing rates of illegal poaching are a result of humanity s selfish demand for an individual body part such as tusks, pelts, or bones, which can be sold on the black market for large sums of money. Poaching in Africa is not only illegal, but morally wrong. Efforts to end poaching entirely should be a priority, and with help, it can be stopped. At current rates, elephants and rhinos may be completely killed off within our lifetime. Some other animals that are on the verge of endangerment, due to poaching, are the gorilla, the lion, and the zebra. These were not the first animals, however, to be this close to extinction. The quagga a zebra like mammal, whose hide faded into a solid color was actually a real animal at one time. Both groups seem to be similar in that they both have a leader and dress similarly. However, looks can be deceiving as they have many cultural differences and various beliefs. These differences create misunderstandings, and lead the French to believe the Algonquin to be a group of savages. The Algonquin also believe the French to not be very intelligent. However, a mission to Huron territory changes both the Algonquin and French, and causes them to better understand each other, creating tolerance, and eventually cultural rapprochement. The French people believe that converting the Algonquin is absolutely critical, and that the Algonquin need not understand the French religion (Blackrobe). In addition, the French believe the Algonquin are not very intelligent and this is shown by the fact that they trade them axes, pots, and flints rather than muskets (Blackrobe). The French almost treat the Algonquin as children when they take them to see the clock. • 41. Comparing Plant Organs And Their Nutrients Comparing Plant Organs and their Nutrients Abstract: In this experiment, we wanted to determine the starch and glucose content of different plant parts including: fruits, stems, leaves, and roots. To do this, we tested a food in each of these categories with Lugol s and Benedict s solutions after being heated in a hot water bath. The color of each solution would then be compared to the Lugol s and benedict s indicators to determine how much starch and glucose is in each. We believed that fruits would have the most starch and glucose out of the plant parts because of its role in plant reproduction (seed dispersal). Through the experiment, we discovered that the fruit does have the most glucose, but the roots have the most starch. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast, there is glucose that is considered a simple sugar or a monosaccharide due to its structure (Georgia State University). Most foods made of glucose molecules are used as sources of energy for animals as ATP (Georgia State University). Both these sugars are in our diets, yet they are quiet different in chemical structure and physical form. This is why a substance that contains starch, does not always contains glucose (Shorter KR). To test for these two carbohydrates, two different tests were developed: Lugol s and Benedict s. Lugol s indicates whether or not a substance contains starch, and if so, how much (Shorter KR). This is determined based on a color scale (5 different shades), from amber to a bluish black (Shorter KR). The farther down the scale, the more starch the substance contains. Likewise, the Benedict s solution indicates the amount of starch as the 8 color shades (light blue to dark green) progress (Shorter KR). Hypothesis: ➢ If Lugol s solution is used to test different types of plant parts, then there will be more starch in the fruits (reproductive parts) than stems, because fruits are where seed dispersal is located which is a process that requires sugar. ➢ If Benedict s solution was added to solutions of water and plant parts, then there would be more glucose found in the fruits rather than the stems because of the function of the fruit during seed dispersal requires sugar which is glucose makes up. ...
