obtain more embryos throughout the year form on specific mare. Along with collecting embryos from
a mare who hasn t proven herself in the show pen but they have high hopes for her. There are two
types of cryopreservation referred to in this article, and they are fast freezing and slow freezing. They
are both successful, but fast freezing is less time consuming and more economical. Assessment In this
article, they talked about fast freezing and slow freezing of the embryo after the flush. The size of the
embryo effects the success rate during the freezing and thawing process. If the mare isn t flushed
between six and half days and seven they run the risk the embryo is going to be too big. The two types
of cryopreservation bring their own benefits and down falls to the table showing neither way is

Cultural Taxonomies of India
We live on our own solitary islands of reality, absorbed in and fascinated by our own points of view.
Frequently we reach out to one another seeking to understand or be understood. The bridge between
our separate realities is communication . . . To communicate is to relate.
Layne and Paul Cutright
On February 15th, 2009 I received word that a small group of educators were being asked by the
National Literacy Mission Program to volunteer in India for one year, with the purpose of bridging the

As you all know by now, feeling good is vital for the law of attraction to work for you and that s a
fact. It s tapping into the vibration that creates worlds. So to tap into that higher frequency, you need
to feel good most of the time.
One positive feeling I like to talk about today is the feeling of being productive. Yes, that s right.
When you feel productive, you can feel passionate, content, and satisfied with who you are right now.
And that s a positive emotion where, if you stay in that state, all of the things you want will come to
you easily since you re in a higher vibration or point of attraction.
So with that, here are 7 steps you can implement in your life right now to feel productive.
Step 1 Improve Concentration
This is the most basic of all the 7 steps. Without the ability to focus on one thing at a time, you will
fail in the long run. It s very important to have the ability to block out all distractions and focus single
mindedly on one task at a time. When you are able to do this, you will have a power that

Promotional Marketing- Costco Analysis
| Promotion Strategy: Costco Wholesale | | Introduction and Competitive Landscape Our general
findings about Costco are that it is an all around great, moneymaking, expanding company. To start
off, Costco is a membership warehouse that offers its customers low prices on exclusive, private label
products in a wide assortment of merchandise categories that generate high sales volumes and quick
inventory turnover. A combination of this turnover, resourceful distribution, merchandise with no frill
and a self service warehouse gives this company extensively lower gross margins than your typical,
everyday warehouse or supermarket. To prove that Costco is a moneymaking company all one has to
do is glance at the sales figures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to cut costs, Costco has a based chain, The Issaquah (Wash.) that eliminates several pricey
expenses. Other retailers generally use elaborate display cases, salespeople, advertising and billing,
but since Costco doesn t do this they can put a 15% markup limit on all items and offer great bargains
on their merchandise (Regnier). One of the private label brands Costco sells is Kirkland Signature
products. Kirkland Signature Products are of equal or better quality then other national brands, which
include: diapers, film, frozen foods, luggage, tires, clothing, house wares and more. Since not every
store carries Kirkland products if you re a consumer who uses them you would have to go to Costco to
purchase them, which makes Costco have a larger consumer base. Costco not only caters to the
average consumer, they also accommodate small and medium sized businesses. By selling such large
amounts of merchandise Costco has helped small and medium sized businesses reduce costs on
purchasing for resale. Another great aspect of Costco is its high inventory turnover. Since its inventory
turnover is so great, they can acquire cash from a sale of a sizeable portion of inventory before they
have to pay back their suppliers. Costco s inventory and merchandise is so huge that they actually had
to increase the size of their shopping cart four times. Another great asset about Costco is how
exclusive they

Personal Narrative-My Klondike Lake Trip
Last year I was impressed with all the interesting plants blooming in the alkali meadows next to
Klondike Lake. Plants like Rabbit brush and shrubs are found in abundance here but not too many
other places in the state or even the Owens Valley. Mid October last year was quite warm and I
worried that it might be too hot (this is a concern I have with every field trip!) or too windy. No wind
and perfect temps prevailed, yay! Six persons showed up, three from the Davis/Sacramento region.
Easy walking and easy access made this trip very negotiable. The half mile walk took over two hours.
Pretty good at a botanist s pace! The goosefoot family was well represented. Who doesn t love

Acct 574 Case Study 1
THE PARMALAT SCANDAL
The Parmalat situation started out as a fairly standard although sizeable accounting fraud. Not even
the best auditors could prepare for what was to come from this company. The Parmalat group, a world
leader in the dairy food business, collapsed and entered bankruptcy protection in December 2003 after
acknowledging massive holes in its financial statements. This happened when billions of euros seem
to have gone missing from the company s accounts. This dramatic collapse has led to the questioning
of the soundness of accounting and financial reporting standards as well as of the Italian corporate
governance system. Parmalat, which is headquartered in the central Italian city of Parma, was, like
most Italian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the money that moved in, around and out of the company has since been traced, although the
final destination of some of it is still unknown. Tanzi has admitted transferring some €500 million to
family firms, but investigators say that up to €1.3 billion may have gone this route. Tanzi was
sentenced to 10 years in prison for fraud relating to the collapse of the dairy group. The other seven
defendants, including executives and bankers, were acquitted. Another eight defendants settled out of
court in September 2008. In September 2009, three lawsuits by Parmalat Capital Finance Ltd. and
Enrico Bondi, CEO of Parmalat, against Bank of America and auditors Grant Thornton, were
dismissed.
In an attempt to downplay the extent to which corruption and fraud have penetrated to the heart of
global capitalism, commentators have seized on the fact that many of Parmalat s former top executives
are related to claim that the scandal is simply a case of a family firm failing to adhere to good
corporate governance practices. Not surprisingly, Parmalat s top executives are going along with this
story, insisting they were only acting under orders from the padrone. The scandal, however, has
engulfed other major firms. There are the accounting firms Grant Thornton and Deloitte and Touche,
and the banks Citicorp and Bank of America. Citicorp is directly linked to the $1.5

writing to, what you are writing about, and what are you trying to share. As well, analyzing your
audience is important because it influences the way you would present your writing based on i.e. a
certain age, race and background in general. Having knowledge about the topic and expected audience
allows you to expand to avoid a vague explanation. Murray said, Effective writers are simply
expressing what they know, like a student filling up an examination bluebook. This statement is
accurate because people have their own personal styles and perspective that are effective in their own

Notes On The Current Ratio
The current ratio (CR) measures the extent to which an organization can transform assets into cash to
meet short term liabilities (p.3). FirstRate s (FR) CR is trending down and is a low value indicating
ratios lending risk ( Liquidity Ratio , n.d.). FR current ratio is still in safe zone as it exceeds 1 (p.6).
The CR is the extent which current assets exceed current liabilities and so it is a measure of short term
ability to meet obligations (p.6).
The acid test (AT) ratio is a more exact measure to verify if FR has the ability meet short term
obligations through actual liquid assets ( Acid test , 2003). The CR considers illiquid assets the acid
test only considers liquid assets ( Acid Test , 2003). FR AR ratio is not indicative of ... Show more

The higher the collection period the more risk an organization takes on. It may however work to
attract more customers but this is a short term fix.
The longer a firm takes to sell inventory the higher their carrying costs are. Firms want to get

Incarcerating Minors
Critical task 2
Incarcerating minors who have broken no criminal codes is not the solution to immigration for three
reasons: (1) It is unconscionable to imprison children simply because their mothers are trying to find a
better life for them, (2) The government should not treat as suspected criminals those who are lawfully
seeking asylum or other permission to stay, (3) Detention should be a last resort, especially given the
available alternatives, including electronic monitoring and reliance on immigration support agencies
and pro bono legal services experienced in getting their clients to court.

we are walking down the jam packed pedestrian sidewalk.
Such phenomenon has led many backpack manufacturers to launch antitheft backpack. It contains

Modern Day Improvements to Prosthetic Limbs
Prosthetic limbs have been around for centuries, but what is one thing they all have in common? They
have all been a nuisance. In recent years technology of the modern day Prosthesis has ventured to new
heights, but they have not perfected an artificial limb yet. With the amount of people in need of
prosthetic limbs, the demand for a perfect prosthesis is tremendous. The perfect prosthesis shouldn t
feel or even look like an artificial limb. Prosthetics should go unnoticed throughout the rest of the
amputee s life. Modern prosthetic limbs have become very advanced in the last decade. They now
have the ability to grip objects, have running limbs, and many more wonderful things. Although these
prosthetics are great, they are lacking some key extras that amputees would relish. What amputees
really want is their sense of feeling back. They want to reach out with their prosthetic limb and be able
to tell if the stove is on or off. They want to be able to press the gas of an automobile. This sense, that
all non amputees take for granted, would be a great place to start the improvement of the perfect
prosthetic limb. To accomplish such a daunting task, engineers must figure out an alternative source
that could interact with the amputees still intact nerve endings. This way they can use their still
functioning nerves to communicate with their pseudo nerve and have the ability to move their
prosthesis around with complete control of it and its sense of touch. I believe this has not

The Techniques Of A Good Design
A good design makes the document attractive and easier to read. This chapter describes some of the
techniques of document design that will make writing more appealing. Some of these techniques are
the choice of paper and print, the use of white space and the ways of formatting headings, lists and
graphs. First, one should use 81/2 x 11 inch, 24 pound, white or off white paper for printout. Also,
using a good printer will give a professional appearance. In any case, it is important to select
appropriate size and font style for a document. Usually one should use 12 size fonts with Times New
Roman for business documents. In addition, one should use white spaces including margins and the
space between sections to give visual appeal. As a general guideline, a paper should have 1 inch
margin for all four sides except for first page, which should have a 2 inch margin. Moreover, for any
document that is single spaced, it is better to use double space between paragraphs. Finally, sloppiness
in a document is unprofessional. Hence, one should always read a final hard copy, as it is possible for
printing error to appear on printed page but not on a computer screen. Next, formatting makes paper
attractive and easier to read. For a document longer than half page, it is good to use headings. Heading
makes paper less intimidating and provides readers a chance to pause and reflect on what they have
read. It also allows readers to preview the contents of a document by reading the headings

The Position Of Chief Executive
The position of Chief Executive in a company is one of the most desirable positions any given
company has to offer. Chief Executives in a company are at the top of the company ladder. They
receive excellent pay, and great benefits. In the social realm, CEO s are generally considered to be
socially superior, and their lives are coveted by members of the middle class. The opportunity to
become a Chief Executive is rare, and the process of achieving this position is very difficult. One must
be employed with an enterprise and perform exceptionally in order to climb the company ladder and
work their way towards this coveted and desirable position. While business degrees are not always a
requirement for a CEO, they certainly do play a huge role in determining your eligibility to be in this
position. Companies will desire business related degrees in their applicants, and the first step to
becoming a CEO is becoming a lower wage worker at the company you wish to move up in. There are
some degrees that will be especially useful for the long term goal of obtaining the position of CEO in
a company, but before covering requirements and strategies, let s look at a basic job description of the
Chief Executive position. A Chief Executive has one responsibility; to do everything necessary to
ensure the success of a company. There is no explicit checklist of things a CEO is expected to do, they

Concepts Of The Anomie Theory
Theoretical framework
Anomie Theory For the purpose of the study, anomie and planned behaviour theory have been applied
since they bear relevant to the analysis of impact of solid waste on environment and health. The
French sociologist Emile Durkheim introduced the term Anomie in his study of suicide (1897). He has
also borrowed the word from the French philosopher Jean Marie Guyau. According to Emile
Durkheim, anomie is an absence of social values and norms. The anomie theory explains various
forms of deviance. It is also called strain theory. When a social structure or system is in the state of
abnormal or deviant, the common values, norms and meanings are no longer understood or accepted,
and the new values, norms and meanings have not emerged or developed. According to Emile
Durkheim, social facts are the subject issues of sociology. It is also defined as the patterns of
behaviour that are capable of exercising some power upon individuals. The social facts guide and
control conducts external to the individual in the form of norms, folkways and mores. Emile ... Show

Motivation by Commission Based Pay
Introduction:
In today s competitive environment, companies are constantly striving to survive and grow by pushing
their sales department to grow sales and in turn their bottom line. As a great motivational tool, most
companies that rely stronly on their sales force will use incentives contracting such as commission
based pay.
According to Washington (2009) , commisions are a form of variable pay by which staff earn a cut of
the income they create for their employer . As a result, the company directly links its perfomance to
those of its sales staff so that their income is dependent on the company s sucess.
According to Interest and Octaviani (2009), a selling agent has two direct tasks: (1) prospecting for
customers and (2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author continues to argue that commissions are a great way to inject sales motivation into the
workforce ( Meyer, 2010) but too many companies fear that it will detract from customer service and
customer relationship. In fact, when a customer accepts a product or service that is offered through
aggresive selling, the customer satisfaction level actually improves because the firm was able to offer
a product or service, the customer did not know he/she needed it ( Meyer, 2010). Anticpating customer
wants and needs before they themselves are aware of it is the true key way in building an effective
sales force.
Caruth (2006) argues that by having a commission based pay, a company is able to motivate their sales
staff to exert more effort for every customer they try to service. That may not necerssrily mean it will
result in a closed sale as over aggresiveness can lead the customer to get frusrated and see the whole
experience in a negative way.

Term Limits For Legislators Essay
Term Limits For Legislators
When the Constitution of the United States was adopted in 1789, it was without direction regarding
term limits for legislators. At the time, professional politicians were unheard of, and the idea of
someone serving for more than one or two terms was unlikely. So the Constitution did not formally
address the issue of term limits, although it was understood that officeholders would limit themselves
to one or two terms and then return to private life (1).
With the advent of the modern state, however, came the making of Congress as a career, and thus the
voluntary removal of oneself from office, as envisioned by the founders, is no longer regularly
undertaken in the United States Congress.
The structure of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
quot;To many, it seem[s] that one reason Congress ha[s] lost touch with ordinary people [is] because
so many members [are] in Congress too long. quot; (4) According to Ed Crane of the Cato Institute,
quot;Americans want to open up the political process. They want their fellow citizens who live and

good people from across the political spectrum to...participate in the political process as candidates,
even if they happen to have spent most of their life outside the limelight in the private sector like the
rest of us. quot; (5)
Clearly voters support term limits for a variety of reasons, yet these reasons all share a common
feature: the desire for a more competitive electoral process, and the hope that term limits will also
limit corruption.
The strength of public support for term limits can be seen in the fact that several states voted to limit
the length of time their representatives can serve in Congress. By the middle of 1995, almost half of
the states had limited the number of terms for their representatives. This success of the term limit
movement at the grass roots level faced a serious setback when the Supreme

Rene Descartes Second Meditation Essay
René Descartes, a rationalist philosopher finds uncertainty in almost everything, including his senses,
memory, body and the physical world. Everything besides the fact he himself is a res cogitans
(thinking thing). He puts forth this idea in his second meditation of his most famous works,
Meditations On First Philosophy, published in 1641. This analytic style of writing opens by
considering any belief that was the slightest bit doubtful, as false. Descartes felt the need for this
hyperbolic doubt in order to reach an impartial truth. He then takes you through the thought process
that led him to the one thing that lies beyond all doubt. He finds certainty in the statement Cogito, ergo
sum or I think, therefore I am. FOOTNOTE The first Meditation in Descartes Meditations On First
Philosophy, is based on doubting almost everything he once believed as true. When Descartes found
that beliefs he had were false, he realized all of his beliefs could be threatened. He embraced
scepticism and refused to accept anything that it is possible to ... Show more content on

Visual Impairment
Visual Impairment
Introduction
Vision challenge or impairment is when a person s degree of seeing is very low and the affected
person requires assistance in order to carry out daily routine. Significantly, for one to qualify as
visually impaired there must be prove that a person cannot undertake duties by himself without
necessary assistance. For a person to qualify as a visually challenged, there must be a prove that the
affected eyes cannot be conventionally treated. Visual challenge cannot be corrected by surgery,
refractive measures neither by medication and that is why it is termed as visual impairment. The most
rampart causes of visual challenge are trauma, degenerative or congenital means and a variety of
diseases. In the society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The film Schindler s List has a tendency to simplify and sentimentalize the character Oskar Schindler

Charlie Gordon Flowers For Algernon
Daniel Keyes, Author of Flowers for Algernon used a modern tragic hero to raise contemporary issues
and ethical concerns about how we view intelligence, value it and treat others who do not have it.
Keyes, in his Autobiography Algernon, Charlie and I, emphasised that the idea for his short story came
to him years before writing it; he wished to increase the intelligence of many of the intellectually
challenged adults surrounding him so that they could live better lives. The amalgamation of his
personal experiences with intelligence, his background education in Psychology and cultural contexts
led to the creation of Charlie Gordon, the first person narrator and protagonist of the novel, a character

The Characteristics Of An Entrepreneur
Our world is going through an entrepreneurial revolution. A lot of research has been carried in an
attempt to define entrepreneurship while more and more people are being encouraged to become
entrepreneurs. The following study based on the stream of literature and researches on
entrepreneurship focuses on the concept of the entrepreneur and explore his background, his
characteristics and the factors that influences entrepreneurship.
The Entrepreneur: A definition
Gartner (1990), while reviewing the theories of entrepreneurship notes that it is a complex concept
with not even an agreed definition of its scope. Although attempts have been made as early as the
eighteenth century to identify the role of the entrepreneur, opinions are still as diverse as they were.
On one hand there are stereotypical characteristics of entrepreneurs like they are born leaders,
optimists, charismatic, extremely self confident and they inspire people. On the other hand, anyone
who works for himself or owns a business calls himself an entrepreneur. There have also been several
debates to differentiate entrepreneurs from small business owners and managers (Schumpeter 1934).

Native American Mascots Should Be Changed
In the recent years the media has sparked a controversy weather names such as the Redskins should be
changed and this debate still rages on because there is no clear cut answer. I am on the side that Native
American mascots should not be changed. First, Native American people see this as a chance for
dialogue and conflict resolution. Next, This gives people to have an insight on Native American
culture. Finally, many Native Americans feel that the names are not offensive.
Native Americans see this issue of mascots as a topic that needs discussion. This discussion is seen by
Native Americans as a way to learn about their culture as written by Paul Lukas in an interview with
Frank Cloutier, a Native American man,
What if a high school or university wasn t interested in doing these types of cultural exchanges and

Societal Values In Homer s Iliad And Women In Genesis
The women in Homer s Iliad and the women in Genesis both exhibit the accepted societal values in a
woman through their duties as wives, which typically consisted of obedience and the ability to sustain
their husband s lineage. Rebekah and Andromache both assume their roles as wives, but sometimes act
in ways outside of the what was considered normal in their society. Though both Rebekah and
Andromache maintain the classic role of a wife, they occasionally contradict the expectations of how a
woman should behave by making decisions traditionally made by men. Through revolutionary
behaviors demonstrated by both women, they grant themselves more authority and power in decision
making, which in turn affects the fate of each woman s family. Both Andromache and Rebekah share a
parallel in terms of their roles in carrying out the fate of their families, however what ultimately
distinguishes one from the other is how successful they are at sustaining those roles.
In the Iliad, Homer displays societal norms placed for wives through the actions of Andromache, yet
at the same time, conveys her as having more power and involvement in the family than what was
expected for a woman at the time to have. In her encounter with her husband, Hector, Andromache
establishes one of her main roles of trying to manipulate fate (moira) through attempting to prevent
him from returning to the war and facing his inevitable death. She pleas for him to show some pity

Bruce Tuckman s Stages Of Team Development
Grow your Team With Team Development Techniques
The team development model of:
Forming Storming Norming Performing was proposed in 1965 by American psychologist Bruce
Tuckman.
The Forming Storming Norming Performing model describes a set of stages in training that a group
must go through in order to be able to achieve maximum potential.
As the name implies, the Forming Storming Norming Performing model show the four ordered stages
a team must go through before they become like a well oiled machine.
Forming
The first stage of training, forming, is when the team is just getting to know each other. Each has his
or her own ideas, which are usually independent of the other. There is minimum cooperation and
integration of ideas. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This stage is when the concept of Forming Storming Norming Performing is introduced to the team.
Storming
This is the stage where the concepts of each member come together for the first time. This is where
members of the team experience their ideas being criticized, improved, and commented on by their
colleagues.
Storming not only refers to the concept of brainstorming , but also to the stormy stage of team
development.
Some immature members will not appreciate their ideas being criticized, and their behavior might
serve as a deterrent for the team to move on to the next stage of thier development.
It s up to the supervisor or team leader to decide how to deal with this kind of attitude.
Norming
Once the stormy phase is over the team reaches the stage where they start to work together
collectively. They re more familiar with each other s attitudes, work ethics, and tastes in terms of ideas
and work output.
What you should look out for in this phase, is the tendency for team members to completely lose their
individual tastes and ideas, and slowly become accustomed to agreeing with each other all the

The Expectancy Violations Theory And Human Norms
We have all heard the maxim stick to the status quo. The desire to adhere to societal norms influences
our everyday actions and largely shapes how we interact with others. What happens when we stray
from the norm and do something unexpected? For this assignment, Professor Striley, after explaining
the expectancy violations theory, challenged her students to apply its concepts to violate a stranger s
expectations in public and record the subsequent response. Through this activity, I learned firsthand
that low communicator reward valence potential could cause a seemingly ambiguous violation to seem
negative. In this paper, I will first explain the expectancy violations theory and describe the
expectancy my group violated for the assignment. Next, I will apply four concepts from the
expectancy violations theory to my group s violation. Finally, I will address my own reactions to my
group s violation and how it has further shaped by understanding of communicator reward valence and
the expectancy violations theory as a whole. The expectancy violations theory is about what happens
when we act differently than others predict we will act (Striley, 2015, p. 5). This fixed prediction
stems from the idea that individuals generally adhere to social norms, which can be defined as rules
indicating how individuals are expected to behave in specific situations (Striley, 2015, p. 7). For
example, most people would not wear footie pajamas to a job interview because they

Why Sols Should Be Banned
Sols should be banned because they cause lots of stress during them and preparing for them. Another
reason why SOLs are bad is because they give only a small amount of time to study everything you
have learned all year. One other reason is you have to take a bunch of test before the SOL to see how
you might do on the test. These reasons are why I am going to convince you that SOLs should be
banned. For starters, let s face it SOLs cause so much stress on the teachers and the students. There is
a lot of stress and anxiety during the entire school year to make sure students are even ready to take
these tests. The stress these cause can really make a student feel like they are not smart and not fitting
in. This is because students have to answer trick questions that are different than the kind they have to
answer is class. Also, because the SOLs are long and boring which causes more anxiety because you
see other students worry about it too. You also get stressed when some people are already finished
before you. Next I am going to talk about another reason why SOLs should be banned. You first start

This can be explained particularly in the case of the Morrill Act signed by the former president himself
in 1862, which established the donation of public lands to various states in order to establish

universities to teach liberal arts and practical subjects, and to share knowledge far beyond the campus

the nation s first land grant institution. Until today, Iowa State still remains true to the land grant
missions, and continues to strive for excellence as a national leader of modern land grant institutions.
Speaking of which, I realize the first land grant ideal: Open higher education to all regardless of race,

issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation that led to the abolishment of slavery in the United States.
If it were not for Lincoln s contributions, the ideal might have not been made possible. Furthermore,

literary critics as something else. I think the reason that Chesnutt s work seems contradictory is
because he has many voices throughout the stories and it is hard for the reader to distinguish which

378). Looking at the Goophered Grapevine, one of the main characters, Julius, is seen as being a

blacks by using the character in this manner. Which is, they are liars and they will do anything to
achieve what they need or want. This is how the old slave was exploited. Although they were faithful
in years they were portrayed as willing to steal or kill to get what they needed. The reader is not
sympathetic with Julius in the two stories. The other two main characters are John, the narrator, and

appointment where the psychiatrist will ask questions about feelings, family, and development and
may or may not require laboratory testing. At the end of the appointment, the student is given
treatment options and may be asked for a follow up visit. Most schools do not offer these kinds of
resources. Schools need clinics that are based on a community mental health center model that provide
evaluation, medications, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and hospitalization, if needed
(DeBenedette, 2012). These types of clinics would make it easier for students to receive much needed
help. In conclusion, I propose a project that would open dedicated mental health clinics at colleges and
universities around the country.

U.s. Immigration Policy Policies Essay
U.S. immigration policy has always been an important topic debated by Presidential candidates for
decades. Immigration reform has been ignored by Congress, leaving decisions up to the President and
Supreme Court. In the meantime, the hopes of about eleven million illegal immigrants in the U.S., as
well as future rules for legal immigration, rest on the shoulders of those decision makers. Hillary
Clinton and Donald Trump both agree that changes to U.S. immigration policy are needed; however,
Donald Trump is taking a radical approach suggesting mass deportation and completely revamping
U.S. immigration policy, whereas, Hillary Clinton is overlooking some issues and wants to continue to
support the policy set forth by the Obama Administration. Regardless of who becomes President, they
will have a hard time getting these issues passed through Congress.
Deportation
Donald Trump s signature topic during his presidential campaign has been illegal immigration. He has
generated headlines and controversial remarks during his plans for change. In 2015, when he
announced he was running for president, Donald Trump claimed Mexico was sending all their rapist
and violent criminals into the U.S. (Gabbatt, 2015). He also called for the deportation of an estimated
eleven million illegal immigrants. Donald Trump has built his campaign on his willingness to deport a
projected eleven million illegal immigrants; however, most recently his stance has changed. In a
recent interview, Fox News

The Shadow Reports Of India
For the purpose of this section, I ve decided to look into the Shadow Reports of India (Executive
Summary of the IV and V NGO Alternative Report on CEDAW of 2014), South Africa (South African
Shadow Report on the Implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of
Discrimination against Women of 2011), and Pakistan (INSERT REPORT HERE). I ve chosen to do a
cross analysis between how the women s movements have responded to the actions taken by the
government in regards to discrimination/equality and human trafficking/prostitution. I feel that the
diverse nature of each of these countries will provide an interesting perspective on the similarities and
differences in both governmental response and the women s movement ... Show more content on

1). The primary critique made by the Shadow Report is the lack of proper implementation and
enforcement of the legislative measures that have been passed for the protection of women in the
aforementioned aspects. Overall, this critique is rather strong, as it provides factual evidence
pertaining to cases where the legislative measures have consistently fallen short. The Shadow Report
regards women from most areas including indigenous/tribal women, women of different social
classes, women with different religious affiliations, women with disabilities, ETC. However, the
report doesn t seem to mention issues regarding women and sexuality, and this is where I believe the
critique from the Shadow Report begins to fall a bit short. I recognize that with the magnitude of
issues that women are facing in India, topics of sexuality may not take priority. It s important to note
that, in a report where nearly every type of women is regarded, it s important to include topics of
sexuality as well. Moreover, the Shadow Report falls short on making recommendations regarding
how to solve these inequalities. Interestingly enough, the Shadow Report does mention human
trafficking within article I briefly as a major concern for women in India. In contrast to the issues
regarded in Article I, the CEDAW report has a rather extensive layout for issues pertaining to human
trafficking and exploitation of women. The CEDAW report for India takes an

The American Painting And Sculptors Exhibition From The El...
Biography The piece that was chosen was a cast bronze sculptor called Mantime in the American
Painting and Sculptors exhibition from the El Paso Art Museum. This piece was created by Harry
Geffert in 1995. Geffert is an American sculptor who was born in Live Oak County, Texas in 1934. As
of today he lives and works at Crowely, Texas. Geffert has a Master degree from New Mexico
Highlands University, Las Vegas, New Mexico and a Bachelor s degree in South West Texas State
University in San Marcos, Texas. Harry Geffert is mostly known for his sculptors; and continues to
create them as of today. (Worley, 2011) Perspective The Mantime is captivating and interesting to
view. The whole sculptor is made of bronze; which I find very impressive that one can add much
details to the work. The sculptor is large in size. But the idea that Geffert try to demonstrate is far
beyond my comprehension. For one, this is the first time which I heard of Geffert and see his work.
Yet, the idea I take a way from this sculptor is based on the small figures presented. The orbs, come in
different sizes 2 small and 1 large size; these orbs may represent as Mother Nature. Then come along
the complimentary features of nature itself. The trees, flowers and plants, along with the multiple little
people figurines around the environment. I would assume based on the so called planet and the little
people; I would guess that Geffert s artwork may represent domination or conquer around the globe.

The Theories Of Clausewitz And Creveld
What is the difference in the theories of Clausewitz and Creveld? Nearly two and a half decades a
dispute between the supporters of two theories about the war is taking place. Namely, the dispute over
the trinitarian and nontrinitarian war takes from the appearance of the famous book written by Martin
Van Creveld The Transformation of War. The cause of the dispute is allegedly the existence of
differences in understanding of the place and role of politics and its relationship with the war.
The Clausewitz s claim that the policy instrument of war became cliche in Western literature as
Waldman states . In contrast to, Creveld proposes radical, even heretical nontrinitarian model for low
intensity conflict and unconventional war since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Prussian military thinker explicitly claims that the abstract war in social and historical reality
appeared under Napoleon. Unlike the abstract, each concrete war is inspired by certain political
motives that can hold violence under control. Violence that is conditioned by the political purpose of
conducting the war leads us to Clausewitz s glorious determination of war as an instrument of politics,
more precisely, the continuation of politics by other means.
The war, according to Clausewitz s view, is a combination of: 1) hatred and hostility, which this
philosopher of war compares to blind natural instincts, 2) the game of chance and coincidence, which
transforms it into the free activity of the spirit and 3) subordinate nature of the political instrument,
which is why it belongs to reason. The first element mainly belongs to the people, to the second army
and military leader, and to the third government (sovereign or state). The war, therefore, is understood
in Clausewitz s theory as a social activity and as an activity that belongs to the sphere of politics. In
addition to this functional unity, the war is characterized by an inner unity determined by its goal. In
war, Clausewitz emphasizes, there is only one success, and that is the ultimate, so war is an indivisible
whole, whose parts (individual successes) have values only in relation to this whole.

The Book Behind The Beautiful Forevers
What would it be like to live in a slum or a dump and pick up garbage for a living? I am sure not many
people around here have experienced that or know what it is like. Reading the book and watching the
film just goes to show how nice we actually have it here and why we should never complain. It s very
interesting to learn about other cultures and the way people live. Studying human geography shows all
of the different viewpoints of people s lives and what they do in order to make a living. I thought the
book, Behind the Beautiful Forevers, was very interesting, but sad, to read. It is based on a slum near
an airport in Mumbai, which is India s largest city. Abdul Husain, the main character in the book, is a
garbage sorter that supports ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let me tell you, there are many themes and concepts that tie into it. The book, for the most part, has a
lot to do with corruption. Fatima, the lady that lives in a hut right next to them, poured kerosene all
over her head and then accused Abdul for threatening her. Because of that, Abdul gotten beaten and
got thrown into a jail cell along with his father. They had to deal with many judges and lawyers, and it
took even longer because Fatima s husband kept telling lies about the whole story, even though he
wasn t even there to see what truly happened. She told me that they held her by the neck and beat her
with a big stone (Boo, 209). In the end, the last judge they had for trial decided that the Husians were,
in fact, innocent. The second theme of Human Geography in this book/film is the location on where
they live. It s in a run down place where there is garbage everywhere, especially in Wasteland.
Because of where they live, most of the people pick garbage up in order to make money for
themselves. It isn t the safest place to live. For example, Annawadi kids were always getting hit on the
chaotic roads usually, while crossing a treacherous intersection to get to Marol Municipal School
(Boo, 63). People are always getting in fights or killing their selves because of the people around them
and the environment in which they live. That isn t always their own fault, though. Which leads me into
the third theme, poverty. Most of the people

Yeti Crab Adaptations
There s an adaptation for everything. Mammals, reptiles, and these deep sea creatures as well. For
some animals to live functionally in the environments in which they were placed, they develop some
rather unusual traits and features to help them to survive in their habitat. The giant squid, zombie
worms, large jellyfish and even the yeti crab serve as excellent examples of animals which developed
certain adaptations to help them live in their extreme deep sea environment. Living in the deep sea
part of the waters, these animals may need certain features to help them survive there. The giant squid,
for example, has ¨the largest eyes of any animal on earth.¨ Living, on average, around 500 1000

How does the Bible Influence Political Thought and Action...
How does the Bible Influence Political Thought and Action in Our Culture? The Bible is a unique
book that is different from others because it contains sacred text that has continued to influence
societies from generation to generation. Generally, the impact of this sacred book is worldwide since it
has affected every department of human activity. The influence of the Bible on society is derived from
the fact that it contains various themes that are used to shape the moral progress of the world. In
addition, the influence of this book is not restricted to Christians and Jews because it impacts more
than 50 percent of the world population. One of the major ways that the Bible has influenced society is
through its effects on politics, especially political thought and action. In most cases, the Bible is used
as the basis for formation of laws and rules that govern society.
The Bible and Politics: In today s society, there are Christians who have unhealthy focus on social and
political issues to an extent that it is detrimental to their personal testimony and the gospel in general.
On the other hand, there are those who argue that Christians should have minimal or nothing to do
with politics (Specht, n.d.). However, these groups need to reconsider their views and beliefs based on
what the Bible teaches regarding politics. Despite of the difference in the role of Christians in politics,
the Bible is essential to political philosophers and theorists as well as the modern

Fashion In The 1800 s
Fashion in the late 1800 s was a form of constraint for women, prohibiting them from living freely and
restricting them to simple activities. Looking closely at period fashion offers better understanding of
an author s characters. The silly and frivolous characters in Pride and Prejudice, such as Lydia and
Mrs. Bennet, are concerned with finery, while the sensible and realistic Lizzy could care less. During
Jane Austen s time, women were judged on their natural beauty and their ability to enhance it with
clothing. Even in the nineteenth century, there was specific fashion trends that women followed.
Kirstin Olsen explains that women wore decorative petticoats with ornamental bands as
undergarments (164). Sarah Downing mentions that old dresses were even recycled as petticoats (18).
Daniel Pool notes a frock dress was worn over the petticoat that cinched high under the breasts,
creating the illusion of a higher waistline (213). Because frocks ... Show more content on

The Bennet family is of the landed gentry and has a comfortable income to buy nice clothing and
accessories. At the beginning of the novel, Mrs. Bennet remarks on the Bingley sister s gowns, I never

Mr. Darcy. Lydia is always waisting her father s money and even buys a bonnet that she does not like:
I do not think it is very pretty; but I thought I might as well buy it as not (211). Sarah Downing
concludes that only foolish characters chatter about clothing: characterized by their dress but rarely do
they speak of it; unless they are one of Austen s silver characters, they maintain the good taste and
decorum of the times, which helps that it was poor manners to impose conversation about such

The Solidarity of the International Longshore and...
Solidarity is an important linchpin in any type of organization. In a labor union, it is even more so, it is
the foundation of the organization. A limited amount of labor unions today have a level of unity that
gives them the power to wield when it comes to negotiating contracts. Within the United States ports
system, the success through labor disputes, bargaining, organization, and sense of community shows
that more unions should follow the example set by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union
(ILWU) when it pertains to union solidarity. The solidarity of the ILWU can be seen through labor
disputes, but particularly the strike that formed the union in 1934. The solidarity was a main point of
the strike in 1934 due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Legislation though out the last century have affected the labor conflicts and have either helped or
tested the ILWU. One of the most important pieces of legislation to the ILWU would be the National
Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA) section 7a. As Deborah Sonis, an editor, observes that section 7a gave
employees the right to organize and bargain collectively (n pag.). This act made it possible for the
ILWU to bargain collectively, which is one of the main points of the solidarity of the union on the
west coast and not just in specific ports. While the NIRA was a help to unions, other legislation was a
deterrent to unions. The Taft Hartley act was created after gains by labor unions in the wake of World
War II to benefit the employers. As the author Peter Onley claims that giving the President the power
to stop worker strikes under threat of financial penalties and imprisonment could radically shift the
balance of power in favor of employers (n pag.). In 2002, Peter Onley informs that President Bush
acted on October 8 and went to Federal District Court in San Francisco to enjoin the lock out and open
up the ports (n pag.). The use of the Taft Hartley could have negatively affected the union but the
solidarity was what help the union survive. Other unions should see know what legislation affects
them, and have strategies of how to deal with the legislation. Bargaining is a main point in the success
of a contract in a labor union. The ILWU has

Trust In Hamlet
Trust is an essential department of every relationship. A healthy relationship needs trust and
dependence on one another. Without trust, doubt and suspicions befall and tension arises between two
people. In the play, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, trust is crucial and very breakable. The main
character, Hamlet, is faced in a conflicting situation in which he begins to question the motives of the
people closest to him, after his father s death. He begins to doubt and suspect people close to him like,
his lover, Ophelia, and his university friends, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Despite his keen trust
issues, he forms a solid and unbreakable trust with his close friend, Horatio in which he is the only
person Hamlet has ever let through his walls. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have shown no signs of care or worry for Hamlet after his father s death, instead, they turn their
backs on him by following the commands of the King against him for their own benefit. Rosencrantz
and Guildenstern are both commissioned by the King to spy on Hamlet and they easily comply with
him because they care about Hamlet no more than they care about themselves, But we both obey, and
here give up ourselves to lay our service freely at your feet, to be commanded. (2.2.31 34). After his
father s death, he experiences an emotional and mental crisis on whether or not he should trust the
people around him. Shakespeare puts Hamlet and his relationship with his university friends in this
situation as to relay a message that trust is a breakable bond, and that no matter how close Hamlet is to
someone, he has to build his walls around himself so that he won t be vulnerable to their inevitable
attack. He shows that people will do anything, even as far as to betray their friends for their own self
interest, because people are selfish that

Snow Flower And The Secret Fan Summary
The Golden Lotus Lisa See s novel Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is narrated by an eighty year old
Lily as she reflects back on her life in China during the 1800 s. Lily s story begins in her early life
when she is six years old a diviner and matchmaker, both tell Lily s mother to take special care with
her foot binding for she had the potential of having them be perfect. The story continues through the
process of Lily and her surrounding female relatives foot binding experience until she is eleven and
her feet have healed perfectly resulting in the golden lotus. This perfect foot binding grants her an
immediate marriage proposal to a wealthy high class family in a distant city from their rural country
home. The rest of the tale is about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some say that this was a way for men to hold dominance over a female due to the fact that she could
not run away with such fragile feet. The bound feet are also thought to have shown social class if a
family could bind the feet of a member of their family, hence they did need that person to work, it
showed a greater social status. From this book s perspective, it was a duty a daughter could perform in
order to secure a prosperous marriage, thereby providing financial security for her family and herself.
Men desired these golden lotus feet and so women made the physical sacrifice to show their virtue and
dedication to being a virtuous wife. At one point in the book, Lily and Snow Flower must flee from
rebel warriors and hike up a snowy mountain, granted this is a fictitious story but the foot binding did
not cause these women to be immobile. The women in the story experienced horrific pain during this
trek until the snow helped numb their feet, but I imagine that anyone that had experienced the five to
seven years it took to bind their feet and then learned to perform daily task on those feet could carry
them a long while if they wanted to escape their marriages. It is my opinion that the fear of starvation
or worse possibilities for a woman would keep a woman in a marriage during these times, they did not
need to reshape their feet. In addition,

There are two types of cryopreservation referred to in this article, and they are fast freezing and slow freezing. They are both successful, but fast freezing is less time consuming and more economical. Assessment In this article, they talked about fast freezing and slow freezing of the embryo after the flush. The size of the embryo effects the success rate during the freezing and thawing process. If the mare isn t flushed between six and half days and seven they run the risk the embryo is going to be too big. Frequently we reach out to one another seeking to understand or be understood. The bridge between our separate realities is communication . . . To communicate is to relate. Layne and Paul Cutright On February 15th, 2009 I received word that a small group of educators were being asked by the National Literacy Mission Program to volunteer in India for one year, with the purpose of bridging the literacy gap between the urban population and the villages. As a young Master s student specializing in linguistics, and having no family related obligations (i.e. husband/kids), I was eager to apply for the program. Approximately three weeks ... It s tapping into the vibration that creates worlds. So to tap into that higher frequency, you need to feel good most of the time. • 6. Promotional Marketing- Costco Analysis | Promotion Strategy: Costco Wholesale | | Introduction and Competitive Landscape Our general findings about Costco are that it is an all around great, moneymaking, expanding company. To start off, Costco is a membership warehouse that offers its customers low prices on exclusive, private label products in a wide assortment of merchandise categories that generate high sales volumes and quick inventory turnover. A combination of this turnover, resourceful distribution, merchandise with no frill and a self service warehouse gives this company extensively lower gross margins than your typical, everyday warehouse or supermarket. To prove that Costco is a moneymaking company all one has to do is glance at the sales figures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to cut costs, Costco has a based chain, The Issaquah (Wash.) that eliminates several pricey expenses. Other retailers generally use elaborate display cases, salespeople, advertising and billing, but since Costco doesn t do this they can put a 15% markup limit on all items and offer great bargains on their merchandise (Regnier). One of the private label brands Costco sells is Kirkland Signature products. Kirkland Signature Products are of equal or better quality then other national brands, which include: diapers, film, frozen foods, luggage, tires, clothing, house wares and more. Since not every store carries Kirkland products if you re a consumer who uses them you would have to go to Costco to purchase them, which makes Costco have a larger consumer base. Costco not only caters to the average consumer, they also accommodate small and medium sized businesses. By selling such large amounts of merchandise Costco has helped small and medium sized businesses reduce costs on purchasing for resale. Another great aspect of Costco is its high inventory turnover. Since its inventory turnover is so great, they can acquire cash from a sale of a sizeable portion of inventory before they have to pay back their suppliers. Costco s inventory and merchandise is so huge that they actually had to increase the size of their shopping cart four times. Another great asset about Costco is how exclusive they ... Mid October last year was quite warm and I worried that it might be too hot (this is a concern I have with every field trip!) or too windy. No wind and perfect temps prevailed, yay! Not even the best auditors could prepare for what was to come from this company. The Parmalat group, a world leader in the dairy food business, collapsed and entered bankruptcy protection in December 2003 after acknowledging massive holes in its financial statements. This happened when billions of euros seem to have gone missing from the company s accounts. Tanzi has admitted transferring some €500 million to family firms, but investigators say that up to €1.3 billion may have gone this route. Tanzi was sentenced to 10 years in prison for fraud relating to the collapse of the dairy group. The other seven defendants, including executives and bankers, were acquitted. Another eight defendants settled out of court in September 2008. In September 2009, three lawsuits by Parmalat Capital Finance Ltd. and Enrico Bondi, CEO of Parmalat, against Bank of America and auditors Grant Thornton, were dismissed. In an attempt to downplay the extent to which corruption and fraud have penetrated to the heart of global capitalism, commentators have seized on the fact that many of Parmalat s former top executives are related to claim that the scandal is simply a case of a family firm failing to adhere to good corporate governance practices. Not surprisingly, Parmalat s top executives are going along with this story, insisting they were only acting under orders from the padrone. The scandal, however, has engulfed other major firms. This is commonly interpreted to mean that all citizens are entitled to the positives of Canadian law. Unfortunately, this is not the reality of the legal system. Quite frequently certain citizens are allowed special benefits after being found guilty. In recent years technology of the modern day Prosthesis has ventured to new heights, but they have not perfected an artificial limb yet. With the amount of people in need of prosthetic limbs, the demand for a perfect prosthesis is tremendous. The perfect prosthesis shouldn t feel or even look like an artificial limb. Prosthetics should go unnoticed throughout the rest of the amputee s life. Modern prosthetic limbs have become very advanced in the last decade. They now have the ability to grip objects, have running limbs, and many more wonderful things. Although these prosthetics are great, they are lacking some key extras that amputees would relish. What amputees really want is their sense of feeling back. They want to reach out with their prosthetic limb and be able to tell if the stove is on or off. They want to be able to press the gas of an automobile. This sense, that all non amputees take for granted, would be a great place to start the improvement of the perfect prosthetic limb. To accomplish such a daunting task, engineers must figure out an alternative source that could interact with the amputees still intact nerve endings. This way they can use their still functioning nerves to communicate with their pseudo nerve and have the ability to move their prosthesis around with complete control of it and its sense of touch. I believe this has not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Techniques Of A Good Design A good design makes the document attractive and easier to read. This chapter describes some of the techniques of document design that will make writing more appealing. Some of these techniques are the choice of paper and print, the use of white space and the ways of formatting headings, lists and graphs. First, one should use 81/2 x 11 inch, 24 pound, white or off white paper for printout. Also, using a good printer will give a professional appearance. In any case, it is important to select appropriate size and font style for a document. Usually one should use 12 size fonts with Times New Roman for business documents. In addition, one should use white spaces including margins and the space between sections to give visual appeal. As a general guideline, a paper should have 1 inch margin for all four sides except for first page, which should have a 2 inch margin. Moreover, for any document that is single spaced, it is better to use double space between paragraphs. Finally, sloppiness in a document is unprofessional. Hence, one should always read a final hard copy, as it is possible for printing error to appear on printed page but not on a computer screen. Next, formatting makes paper attractive and easier to read. For a document longer than half page, it is good to use headings. Heading makes paper less intimidating and provides readers a chance to pause and reflect on what they have read. It also allows readers to preview the contents of a document by reading the headings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Motivation by Commission Based Pay Introduction: In today s competitive environment, companies are constantly striving to survive and grow by pushing their sales department to grow sales and in turn their bottom line. As a great motivational tool, most companies that rely stronly on their sales force will use incentives contracting such as commission based pay. According to Washington (2009) , commisions are a form of variable pay by which staff earn a cut of the income they create for their employer . As a result, the company directly links its perfomance to those of its sales staff so that their income is dependent on the company s sucess. The author continues to argue that commissions are a great way to inject sales motivation into the workforce ( Meyer, 2010) but too many companies fear that it will detract from customer service and customer relationship. In fact, when a customer accepts a product or service that is offered through aggresive selling, the customer satisfaction level actually improves because the firm was able to offer a product or service, the customer did not know he/she needed it ( Meyer, 2010). Anticpating customer wants and needs before they themselves are aware of it is the true key way in building an effective sales force. Caruth (2006) argues that by having a commission based pay, a company is able to motivate their sales staff to exert more effort for every customer they try to service. That may not necerssrily mean it will result in a closed sale as over aggresiveness can lead the customer to get frusrated and see the whole experience in a negative way. Nevertheless, it also benefits the company by improving their human resources prcatices in recruitment. An organization that uses commission based pay is likely to attract results oriented sales personnel who value a high earnings potential and the freedom of action that may come with it ( Caruth, 2006). At the time, professional politicians were unheard of, and the idea of someone serving for more than one or two terms was unlikely. So the Constitution did not formally address the issue of term limits, although it was understood that officeholders would limit themselves to one or two terms and then return to private life (1). Everything besides the fact he himself is a res cogitans (thinking thing). He puts forth this idea in his second meditation of his most famous works, Meditations On First Philosophy, published in 1641. This analytic style of writing opens by considering any belief that was the slightest bit doubtful, as false. Descartes felt the need for this hyperbolic doubt in order to reach an impartial truth. He then takes you through the thought process that led him to the one thing that lies beyond all doubt. He finds certainty in the statement Cogito, ergo sum or I think, therefore I am. Societal Values In Homer s Iliad And Women In Genesis The women in Homer s Iliad and the women in Genesis both exhibit the accepted societal values in a woman through their duties as wives, which typically consisted of obedience and the ability to sustain their husband s lineage. Rebekah and Andromache both assume their roles as wives, but sometimes act in ways outside of the what was considered normal in their society. Though both Rebekah and Andromache maintain the classic role of a wife, they occasionally contradict the expectations of how a woman should behave by making decisions traditionally made by men. Through revolutionary behaviors demonstrated by both women, they grant themselves more authority and power in decision making, which in turn affects the fate of each woman s family. Both Andromache and Rebekah share a parallel in terms of their roles in carrying out the fate of their families, however what ultimately distinguishes one from the other is how successful they are at sustaining those roles. In the Iliad, Homer displays societal norms placed for wives through the actions of Andromache, yet at the same time, conveys her as having more power and involvement in the family than what was expected for a woman at the time to have. • 36. The Expectancy Violations Theory And Human Norms We have all heard the maxim stick to the status quo. The desire to adhere to societal norms influences our everyday actions and largely shapes how we interact with others. What happens when we stray from the norm and do something unexpected? For this assignment, Professor Striley, after explaining the expectancy violations theory, challenged her students to apply its concepts to violate a stranger s expectations in public and record the subsequent response. Through this activity, I learned firsthand that low communicator reward valence potential could cause a seemingly ambiguous violation to seem negative. In this paper, I will first explain the expectancy violations theory and describe the expectancy my group violated for the assignment. Next, I will apply four concepts from the expectancy violations theory to my group s violation. Finally, I will address my own reactions to my group s violation and how it has further shaped by understanding of communicator reward valence and the expectancy violations theory as a whole. The expectancy violations theory is about what happens when we act differently than others predict we will act (Striley, 2015, p. 5). This fixed prediction stems from the idea that individuals generally adhere to social norms, which can be defined as rules indicating how individuals are expected to behave in specific situations (Striley, 2015, p. 7). For example, most people would not wear footie pajamas to a job interview because they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Why Sols Should Be Banned Sols should be banned because they cause lots of stress during them and preparing for them. Another reason why SOLs are bad is because they give only a small amount of time to study everything you have learned all year. One other reason is you have to take a bunch of test before the SOL to see how you might do on the test. These reasons are why I am going to convince you that SOLs should be banned. For starters, let s face it SOLs cause so much stress on the teachers and the students. There is a lot of stress and anxiety during the entire school year to make sure students are even ready to take these tests. The stress these cause can really make a student feel like they are not smart and not fitting in. This is because students have to answer trick questions that are different than the kind they have to answer is class. Also, because the SOLs are long and boring which causes more anxiety because you see other students worry about it too. You also get stressed when some people are already finished before you. Next I am going to talk about another reason why SOLs should be banned. You first start getting all these review packets only a few weeks before the tests but you get them for a bunch of classes at once. The problem is most people can not remember most of it. His prairie schooner drawn by oxen, his log cabin...his prairie of a thousand variable charms...his founding of government... all these, because they are long past and we are proud of the courage and hardihood of our fathers...and a little proud of ourselves for having descended from them all these transmuted to the very stuff of fable, the very texture of myth. Iowa was the first state to accept the Act, making Iowa Agricultural College and Model Farm the nation s first land grant institution. Until today, Iowa State still remains true to the land grant missions, and continues to strive for excellence as a national leader of modern land grant institutions. Speaking of which, I realize the first land grant ideal: Open higher education to all regardless of race, gender and background is closely associated with one of the greatest achievements of Lincoln the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation that led to the abolishment of slavery in the United States. Chesnutt, I want to unfold the message Chesnutt is portraying through particular characters in these stories. Is the message the critics see, the same as the reader? I feel like Chesnutt contradicts himself in the conjure tales. By this I mean that he comes off to the reader as one thing, but he is interpreted by literary critics as something else. I think the reason that Chesnutt s work seems contradictory is because he has many voices throughout the stories and it is hard for the reader to distinguish which voice belongs to Chesnutt. William Andrews saw that Chesnutt used the old time Negro model to create Uncle Julius (Chesnutt, 378). Looking at the Goophered Grapevine, one of the main characters, Julius, is seen as being a trickster. He seems to lie in order to fulfill his own desires. The author is reaffirming the stereotypes of blacks by using the character in this manner. Which is, they are liars and they will do anything to achieve what they need or want. This is how the old slave was exploited. Although they were faithful in years they were portrayed as willing to steal or kill to get what they needed. The reader is not sympathetic with Julius in the two stories. The other two main characters are John, the narrator, and his wife Annie. According to Duncan, John and Julius negotiate a new... relationship between two previously isolated American voices: the black and the white, the rich and the poor, the North and the South (Duncan, 78). John and his wife represent two sides of the white community; those who hold the beliefs of the plantation school and those that are sympathetic with the Negro and their condition (slavery, post slavery). At the end of the appointment, the student is given treatment options and may be asked for a follow up visit. Most schools do not offer these kinds of resources. Schools need clinics that are based on a community mental health center model that provide evaluation, medications, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and hospitalization, if needed (DeBenedette, 2012). Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump both agree that changes to U.S. immigration policy are needed; however, Donald Trump is taking a radical approach suggesting mass deportation and completely revamping U.S. immigration policy, whereas, Hillary Clinton is overlooking some issues and wants to continue to support the policy set forth by the Obama Administration. The primary critique made by the Shadow Report is the lack of proper implementation and enforcement of the legislative measures that have been passed for the protection of women in the aforementioned aspects. Overall, this critique is rather strong, as it provides factual evidence pertaining to cases where the legislative measures have consistently fallen short. The Shadow Report regards women from most areas including indigenous/tribal women, women of different social classes, women with different religious affiliations, women with disabilities, ETC. However, the report doesn t seem to mention issues regarding women and sexuality, and this is where I believe the critique from the Shadow Report begins to fall a bit short. I recognize that with the magnitude of issues that women are facing in India, topics of sexuality may not take priority. It s important to note that, in a report where nearly every type of women is regarded, it s important to include topics of sexuality as well. Moreover, the Shadow Report falls short on making recommendations regarding how to solve these inequalities. Interestingly enough, the Shadow Report does mention human trafficking within article I briefly as a major concern for women in India. But the idea that Geffert try to demonstrate is far beyond my comprehension. For one, this is the first time which I heard of Geffert and see his work. Yet, the idea I take a way from this sculptor is based on the small figures presented. The orbs, come in different sizes 2 small and 1 large size; these orbs may represent as Mother Nature. Then come along the complimentary features of nature itself. The trees, flowers and plants, along with the multiple little people figurines around the environment. Nearly two and a half decades a dispute between the supporters of two theories about the war is taking place. The cause of the dispute is allegedly the existence of differences in understanding of the place and role of politics and its relationship with the war. The Prussian military thinker explicitly claims that the abstract war in social and historical reality appeared under Napoleon. Unlike the abstract, each concrete war is inspired by certain political motives that can hold violence under control. Violence that is conditioned by the political purpose of conducting the war leads us to Clausewitz s glorious determination of war as an instrument of politics, more precisely, the continuation of politics by other means. The war, according to Clausewitz s view, is a combination of: 1) hatred and hostility, which this philosopher of war compares to blind natural instincts, 2) the game of chance and coincidence, which transforms it into the free activity of the spirit and 3) subordinate nature of the political instrument, which is why it belongs to reason. The first element mainly belongs to the people, to the second army and military leader, and to the third government (sovereign or state). The war, therefore, is understood in Clausewitz s theory as a social activity and as an activity that belongs to the sphere of politics. In addition to this functional unity, the war is characterized by an inner unity determined by its goal. The Bible is a unique book that is different from others because it contains sacred text that has continued to influence societies from generation to generation. Generally, the impact of this sacred book is worldwide since it has affected every department of human activity. The influence of the Bible on society is derived from the fact that it contains various themes that are used to shape the moral progress of the world. In addition, the influence of this book is not restricted to Christians and Jews because it impacts more than 50 percent of the world population. One of the major ways that the Bible has influenced society is through its effects on politics, especially political thought and action. In most cases, the Bible is used as the basis for formation of laws and rules that govern society. The Bible and Politics: In today s society, there are Christians who have unhealthy focus on social and political issues to an extent that it is detrimental to their personal testimony and the gospel in general. On the other hand, there are those who argue that Christians should have minimal or nothing to do with politics (Specht, n.d.). During Jane Austen s time, women were judged on their natural beauty and their ability to enhance it with clothing. Even in the nineteenth century, there was specific fashion trends that women followed. Kirstin Olsen explains that women wore decorative petticoats with ornamental bands as undergarments (164).
