Protection of Intellectual Property Essay
Protection of Intellectual Property
Introduction
There is a lot of controversy about intellectual property and its application to software. There are
many difficult, fundamental questions that arise, such as exactly what aspects of a piece of software
should be protected under copyright or patent. [5] Despite the fact that applying existing laws to
software is not very straight forward, some sort of legal protection for intellectual property is
necessary, as it provides a significant amount of positive outcomes, which will be described further in
this paper. We will argue that the legal protection for intellectual property is an ethical obligation from
a rule utilitarian ethical framework because it promotes innovation and economic ... Show more

[6]
One of the most useful aspects of the legal protection of intellectual property is the drive towards
innovation that it inspires. This is traditionally accomplished through a monetary incentive that is a
result of the exclusivity granted by a copyright or patent. The potential of being granted the exclusive
rights for the creation and distribution of a potentially new and useful idea or technology is what
drives people to create new ideas in a capitalist society. [4] By copyrighting software, software
developers are encouraged to create new and exciting software because they have, at the very least, a
monetary incentive to benefit from their work. Finally, copywriting software allows the creator to
determine how his software is to be used. For example, software copyright has enabled licenses like
the General Public License, which allows anyone to use the software without restriction, but requires
that any modification of the software be shared openly like the original. [3] Clearly, the rights granted
by legal protection of intellectual property have and will continue to promote innovation.
The legal protection of intellectual property also promotes economic growth. The manufacturing
industry, as well as the pharmaceutical and publishing industries are among many industries in the

Interview With A Teacher With Lori Bunting
I interviewed a teacher from Seckman High School named Lori Bunting. I asked Lori several
questions and she gave me more insight on the teaching career. Lori graduated from Southeast
Missouri State in in 2000 with her Bachelors in Secondary Education and Mathematics. She then
received her masters in classroom teaching in 2008 from Missouri Baptist University. With student
teaching in my near future I thought asking her about her student teacher experience would give me
some advice on what my next steps are. Lori student taught at two different schools and for eight
weeks each. The first place she student taught was at Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, Missouri.
Lori stated that the school was very small and only had one math teacher. She said this gave her an
insight of what it would feel like to teach in a small school. On the other hand, she also taught at Cape
Central High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She said she really enjoyed this experience because
the school was much bigger and she felt more involved in the school. She said that unlike today, she
had no choice of where she student taught but she was grateful for the experience she had at both Oak
Ridge High School and Cape Central High School. As a future teacher I was curious what the day to
day life of a teacher consists of. I asked Lori to explain to me what a typical day as a teacher looks
like. Lori told me that she normally arrives to school about 45 minutes before the day begins and gets

Essay On Expungement
Expungement is a process that allows the erasure, destruction or sealing of a criminal conviction or
juvenile adjudication after the time has ended (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). In the United States, forty
sates allow individuals to expunge their arrest records and criminal records (Alarid Del Carmen,
2012). Even if an expungement is granted, the information can still be accessed by law enforcement,
courts, and other government agencies (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). The expunging of a person s
criminal records and arrest records allows him or her to seek housing, employment, financial aid and
etc. without stigmatism (McKnight, 2005). Statutes or inherent judicial authority allow criminal
records to be expunged (McKnight, 2005). According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that are not expunged by statute may qualify for expungement under the court s inherent authority

Beach Descriptive Essay
After lazily waking up, my family and I head to the beach to enjoy the brisk day. It s only around
seventy five degrees, but that doesn t falter our excitement for the beach. The sun shines through the
clouds as we head down to pick a spot. The waves are calm and inviting as we lay our stuff down. The
wind is moving through the beachgrass like a quiet whisper. The seagulls caw, and attempt to steal the
snacks we brought. There s some kids playing in the water, but more are playing in the sand since the
water s so cold. Days like this are quite typical at the beach in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
In Hilton Head, near Coligny Beach, the small village where we stay is quite somnolent. It seems like
no one is ever awake before 9am. In the center of the sleepy town there s a Piggly Wiggly. Everyone
goes in there to get their groceries and beach supplies. Next to it there s an ice cream shop, the Frozen
Moo, which has some of the best ice cream I ve ever had. The shop has at least ninety different flavors
from Apple Pie to Rainbow Sherbet. There s a mural on the wall of cows surfing at the beach with
brightly colored chairs and tables; going along with the cow theme, there s even a life size replica of a
cow that they dress up for holidays. When walking into the town center, the beach is right across from
it. The smell of the ocean air and breeze coming through the town almost hypothesizes you to move
towards the waves. Since it s fairly cold in the morning, no one is ever there.

The Heart Of Myocardial Infraction
The heart: Myocardial infraction
The heart is an organ that pumps blood around the body by using 2 separate pumps side by side. The
left side of the pump deals with oxygenated blood from the lungs whereas the right one deals with
deoxygenated blood from the body. Each pump has 2 chambers called atrium and ventricle. The walls
of the atrium are thinner than the ventricle because the atrium only has to pump blood to a short
distance (to the ventricle) whereas the ventricles need to pump blood to the rest of the body. The heart
has 3 types of pacemaker cells called; Sino atrial (SA) node, Atrioventricular (AV) node and bundle of
His which make up the electrical conduction system. SA node found in the right atrium sends a wave
of depolarisation to the neighbouring muscle junction, to the left atrium by the Bachmann s bundle
and also to the AV node by the internodal tract. AV node delays the wave of depolarisation causing the
ventricle to contract after the atria. The AV node causes that delay to allow all the blood to fully move
from the atria to the ventricle then the ventricle can contract sending the blood out the heart. After the
AV node has delayed the wave of depolarisation, the wave continues down by a bundle of His and the
fibres split up by the Purkinje fibres allowing the muscle to get involved. The wave of electrical
released from the fibres causes the ventricles to contract.

The pacemaker cells are automaticity which means that they don t

Book Thief Macbeth Comparison
Macbeth amp; The Book Thief:
A Comparison between Ambition present in the Novels
In comparing Shakespeare s Macbeth and Zusak s Book Thief, though the books deal with different
time eras, characters and even language styles, there are some striking similarities between the themes
in both novels. The themes are evident throughout both novels, these themes give a better
understanding of the author s message he wants to portray to his audience. Both books show ambition
effectively in many situations. In Macbeth we see how far one man will go to see a goal accomplished
and achieve his ultimatum. In the Book Thief we witness a girl with the ambition to learn how to read,
and she will do anything to ensure she keeps learning. Ambition is ... Show more content on

Liesel is ambitious in other ways as well, when her family gets a new visitor, a Jewish man named
Max. It is her goal to figure out everything she can about Max. Eventually they become very close and
end up revealing secrets to each other and comfort each other through the good and bad times. (Part 4,

morals she was raised with. The power of ambition can cause even the most harmless person to act out
in obscured ways. In Macbeth, it is a goal driven by spite that causes a man to act out in an
unpredictable way. The full potential of spite and revenge driven by ambition is witnessed after a
family and father are murdered in cold blood. If you want something you will go after it, however if
you add spite and revenge to the mix you will desire the outcome of your goal even more. After
Macbeth kills Duncan and on top of that orders the brutal slaughter of Macduff s wife and kid, there

The Beauty of the Mundane in Gustave Flaubert’s Madame...
The Beauty of the Mundane in Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary
In Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary, it is difficult to know what to think of Monsieur Binet and his
lathe. His constant devotion to such an unrewarding pursuit would seem to act as the bourgeois
backdrop to Emma Bovary s quest for eternal passion and excitement, a polar opposite with which
Emma can stand in sharp contrast. However, it turns out that Binet and his lathe have more in common
with Emma and her rampant desires than what would first appear obvious. Binet s lathe still serves as
a background with which to compare Emma s quest for love and riches, but instead of acting as a
complete antithesis to everything she does, the lathe is meant to be subtly different ... Show more

(28)
In this one sentence Flaubert not only gives example of how the works are repetitive, with similar
plots, and dying horses on every page, but he also manages to capture the clichéd, melodramatic style
of romance novels that makes them all seem the same. The repetitiveness extends into real life as well,
as Emma s love affairs constantly lose their fire and begin to become routine, or, as Rodolphe notes,
the charm of novelty, falling down slowly like a dress, expose[s] only the eternal monotony of
passion, always the same forms and the same language (154).
The feeling of superiority that the lathe gives Binet fits more obviously with Emma s action and
character. He uses his lathe with the jealousy of an artist and the egoism of a bourgeois (60). He feels
that his craftsmanship and dedication to the lathe make him superior to those deprived souls that do
not have one. We see these feelings firsthand when Binet suggests to Leon that he should take up the
lathe as a solution to his problems. When Leon admits that he knows nothing about lathes, Binet
replies That is true, and strok[es] his chain, with a look that mingle[s] disdain and satisfaction (94).
The lathe fulfills Binet s bourgeois

Essay on Men and Women in Nontraditional Sports as...
Men and Women in Nontraditional Sports as Portrayed in Film Women and men play various sports
because they as Americans want to experience the excitement of playing for fun, and doing something
they love. The idea of what men and women can do for fun in sports has been shaped by the American
society in many different ways through the media, schooling and education, and professional sports
organizations. America portrays women playing field hockey and doing synchronized swimming
while men do boxing, and body building. If a woman chooses to do boxing because to her it is fun and
if a man chooses synchronized swimming because he likes it, they face many cultural costs and
benefits of choosing this sport. Society does not like change and ... Show more content on

The judges were forced to make an ambiguous line between what the difference was between a man
and a woman. The costs of this sport may be unfair judging of the bodybuilders because the judges are
still divided on what makes a woman s feminine form better. The bodybuilders had to deal with
assumptions of the public that accuse them of unnatural or homosexual. A main character, Bev Francis
had to frequently insist that she was a woman not a man, and she was faced with the questioning of
her sexuality. Bev s muscles, dress, heavy facial features, and unfeminine body language evoke the
stereotype of what a lesbian looks like: the butch, the lesbian who is immediately recognizable as
such, visibly different. Bev had a strong belief that she looked like a woman and that she was beautiful
and strong. A risk she faced was being hurt by the public s comments about her body and sexuality.
The social and cultural costs of being a male playing non traditional sports does not seem as severe as
it does because men are not driven away from sports. Women are constantly being driven away from
any sport from the fear of being labeled as unfeminine or lesbian. Men who want to play non
traditional sports will probably be more likely to be stereotyped as gay, or feminine. But if a man
plays a traditional male sport, he will not be subjected to unwanted assumptions or sexual advances.
Men do not benefit

Miss Black USA Talks about Pageantry and Being a Black Ballerina Photo Credit: Go Fund Me
Daphne Lee, who won the national Miss Black USA this year is also a ballerina. She wears her natural
curly hair with proud and is very determined to squash the stereotype when it comes to the black
female body. This beauty queen and ballerina confidently identifies herself as an Afro Latina.
As a ballerina, she is constantly exposed to the criticisms of targeting the black woman s body. More
than half a century ago, Raven Wilkinson became one of the very first African American ballerinas
who worked for a prominent ballet company. However, she danced under the premise that she must
paint her face as a white woman. Meanwhile, Lauran Anderson broke barriers when she became one

Aside from being a beauty queen and a ballerina, Lee is also an outspoken activist. She raves how the
Miss Black USA pageant helps serve women of color by helping them achieve their education and
academic goals.
The real reason many women join pageants is not really because they want to achieve a beauty status
but it is actually to gain money for scholarship. Most are trying to finish college while others are
pursuing a master s degree. Joining a pageant can help them achieve that.
Lee feels that beauty pageants helps empower women and they do not exploit women as others paint
the contests to be. She thinks that people perceive pageant contestants in a negative way because they
don t know the real story behind it.
The media and the show producers do tend to glamorize and sensationalize the event. However, when

Matthew
Mathew wrote the book of Matthew to enlighten the Jews to Jesus as the Messiah fulfilling the old

them with care and creativity the prophecy of their new identity in Messiah. The theme of Matthew
pours from the heart of Matthew in obedience to love God with all your heart and Love kingdom
people, The book of Matthew tells of the birth, Ministry, life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
Matthew prepares the Jewish people to receive Jesus with the story of His birth, including the
genealogy in Matthew 1:1 4:11 and tells the story of Jesus birth. Here he recites prophecy from the
prophet Isaiah in chapter seven verse fourteen, Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The
virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel, (God with us). The Magi visit
the toddler Messiah in Bethlehem and Matthew reminds the Jews where the prophet has written, But
you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for our of you
will come a ruler, who will shepherd my people Israel. (Matthew 2:6 New International Version) The
mission of Matthew to his neighbors and friends, the Jewish people must have excited to read the

Essay on A Conversation with My Father by Grace Paley
A Conversation with My Father , by Grace Paley
The short story A Conversation with My Father , by Grace Paley, combines several themes and the
author uses the elements of abandonment, denial, irony, humor and foreshadowing, to bring this
emotional story together. This story is mainly about the relationship between a parent and his child.
The primary characters are a father, and his child. There is no mention of whether the child is his
daughter or son. The tone of the story and the conversations made me believe that the old man has a
daughter, and hence I will refer to the child as his daughter.
The first sentence of the story, My father is eighty six years old and in bed , is the first foreshadowing
element. Its full meaning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, we start to see some differences between the father and daughter.
In this new story, the daughter is describing facts, whereas the father wants a more complete
description, full of details. Following this, we see that the daughter prefers to be optimistic, while the
father prefers reality. This is illustrated by the following quotes: No, Pa, it could really happen that
way, it s a funny world nowadays , and to this, the father replies No... Truth first. She will slide back.
Her story describes the life of a mother and her son, and how she becomes a junkie to remain close to
her son, who has become a junkie. In the end, the son quits the drugs world, but the mother cannot.
Her son leaves her, introducing the element of abandonment in the story. This theme is pursued
further, but in between lines. For example, the son left his mother at a critical time, when she needed
him most, whereas the narrator stayed with her dad, even in his dying days. The father does not
believe that the woman in his daughter s story is strong enough and that even though she manages to
quit doing drugs, she will fall back. I would tend to agree with him, because a lot of substance abusers,
who quit, eventually, fall back. Her story is too optimistic, with a sense of denial for the tragedy. As
the story ends, the father says Tragedy! You too. When will you look it in the face? Again, here we
wonder whether the tragedy refers to the

Social Media Communication And The Power Of Online...
In the world of technology communication has become easier than ever. The world has now shrunk
from a vast populated land to a network of communicating individuals living in a global village.
People from all over the globe have come closer together and distances have decreased to the extent
that an individual is merely a click away.
In this ever growing network of people a new theory has emerged, the idea of 6 degrees of separation.
The idea behind this is that between you and any another person in the world is only a chain no longer
than six people. This emphasizes the significance of online communication and the way it has made
the world a whole lot smaller.
This is the power of social media and the developments in online communication. A happening in one
part of the world reaches to the second part in a matter of seconds. Imagine if that news or happening
was about you. The significance of this technology is the ease it provides. Using this tool to your
advantage can give you a large number of benefits.
Social Media Marketing brings global fame to your name.
This is your ticket to international level fame. Your company or your name could be known
throughout the globe with millions of followers and fans. Millions of people can access these sites
where people come to communicate online and express their views. Once you step into the world of

Explain The Adversarial Approach To Court Proceedings
1. I believe the adversarial approach to court proceedings tends to render a just determination in most
cases. However, I also believe the adversarial approach has faults within the system. The adversarial
system offers many safeguards to ensure that justice is fair. Lawyers are allowed to have a decision in
the jury process at both civil and criminal proceedings. Yet, the civil matters can only have a jury in
Superior Court for specific types of claims. Selection of the jury helps the advocates ensure that their
clients receive the highest fairness of justice. Advocates do their best to ensure that all jury members
are impartial to their clients matter.
Although judges and advocates do their best to ensure the jury is impartial, there are instances when
the jury feels more attached to one client. Generally speaking, if the case before the jury involved a
man assaulting a young girl and the jury was predominantly women, the jury may decide in favour of
the young girl before hearing all aspects of the matter. This creates bias within the justice system.
Relying on peers of a society is not always the best option. Jurors may not understand that they are
only to look at facts of the case and not outstanding matters. There have been famous Canadian cases,
David Milgaard and Steven Truscott, where the jury decided wrong on a matter and the men went to
prison for decades. Are there other cases where people have been found guilty who are not guilty?
This has to be the biggest

Comitatus In Beowulf
In Anglo Saxon Literature, the term Comitatus was used to describe a mutually beneficial relationship
that compelled Kings to rule in consultation with their warriors called thanes. The code of Comitatus
was an integral part of a Vikings culture and honor. The three main parts of Comitatus are kinship, oral
tradition, and gift giving. Beowulf lived and died by the unwritten code of Comitatus in order to
maintain his status as hero. Beowulf s social interactions and the fight with Grendel, Grendel s mother,
the dragon demonstrate the hero s lust for maintaining a good reputation through the code of
Comitatus.
The story of Beowulf begins with his quest to aid the kind of the Danes. Hrothgar built the great mead
hall called Heorot. The mead hall represents Hrothgar s success in building a powerful military and
social entity. The mead hall Meant to be a wonder of the world forever; (Beowulf.69 71) a place of

The Late Middle Ages
The late Middle ages was definitely a troubled time for citizens around Europe. From the 14th Century
to the 15th Century, humans were raveled by famines, disruption of socio economics, and lost of faith

life. With the many deaths, poor condition for poor people, and the schism of the Church, it may seem
easy to call this era a decline. Although upon closer looking, this era is more of a transitional period
into the next period than a decline due to many reasons. Whether you look at religious, social

which enable this smartness. Data produced from sensors pose a challenge to the traditional
approaches of managing the data and cause towards the emerging paradigm of Big Data. As a
circumstance, there is a requirement for three types of developments. First, technology should be

Exothermic Reaction
In this report 3 fuels, ethanol, pentan 1 ol and 1 butanol were tested to determine the experimental heat
of combustion and to decide which would be the best fuel to take on a camping trip.
Combustion takes place when fuels react with oxygen to produce heat (E inst.com, 2015). The heat
created by the burning of fuel is used in the operation of equipment such as boilers and furnaces, as
well as heat being produced, when reactants undergo combustion CO2 (carbon dioxide) and H2O
(water) are formed as byproducts of the exothermic reaction (E inst.com, 2015).
Exothermic reactions occur when the forming of a chemical bond releases energy therefore creating an
exothermic process (Kentchemistry.com, 2015). An exothermic reaction has a negative deltaH,
because the enthalpy of the products is lower than the enthalpy of the reactants of the system
(Chemwiki.ucdavis.edu, 2015). An Endothermic reaction absorbs energy in the form of heat. In an
endothermic reaction deltaH is positive because the enthalpy of the products is higher than the
enthalpy of the reactants in the system (Chemwiki.ucdavis.edu, 2015).
Enthalpy is the amount of heat used/released in a system at constant pressure. (Chemwiki.ucdavis.edu,
N.D). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Reformation Dbq
The universities of Europe had a major impact on the start and spread of the Catholic Reformation.
Both Source B and Source D agree that universities played a major role in the start of the Protestant
Reformation and in the further spreading of the Reformation by allowing it to be taught. Both sources,
however vary slightly on how they believe universities of Europe contributed to the Reformation.
They both agree that the universities and how they responded were directly influential, however they
disagree slightly on in what way it influenced the rise of the Reformation. Source B states that because
Martin Luther s proposed disputation did not occur, and rather his theses were discussed and taught,
they became more widespread. Paul F. Grendler, the author of this source states that if Luther s
disputations had gone on as planned his ideas would not have been spread to the same scale that they
were through being taught. He argues that the audience at such a disputation would not have been
large, as mostly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The University of Wittenberg adapted so that their classes were more general and would not be seen as

universities spread the popularity of Luther s ideas further than any disputation could have by teaching
his ideas in theology classes, while source D argues that the universities dropped specific classes,
therefore legitimizing Luther s views and encouraging his followers. Both of these sources are very

Racial Discrimination and Hispanics in the United States
Racial discrimination is a term used to describe unfair behavior afflicted on individuals based on their
race (LegalCyberTips, 2007, Para 1). The concept of racism has existed for decades. The act of one
race attempting to exert supremacy over others has often resulted in racial discrimination
(LegalCyberTips, 2007). Racial discrimination is a constant reality in the lives of Hispanic Americans
in the United States. Due to alarming migration rates over the past several decades, the United States
has experienced significant growth in ethnic and racial diversity. However, racial minority groups like
the Hispanics; the largest and fastest growing population in the United States, continue to struggle for

Nicolette Cutler, a student of Trinity College and avid Puerto Rico Researcher stated that, despite the
fact that many Puerto Ricans were able to find work in the United States and live better than they had
in Puerto Rico, they could never feel like this was their new home. Faced with racism and injustice
daily, the Puerto Rican population had to face the fact that they were not considered citizens of the
United States. From 1898 until 1917, Puerto Ricans were considered citizens of nowhere (Para.4).
In the 1970 s Puerto Ricans faced racial redlining practices from vendors which prevented Hispanics
from relocating to better areas. Community vendors believed that if Hispanics moved into better areas
their property and value would decrease (Wilson, 2007). Although the churches welcomed and
provided Hispanics with vital support, most communities were not as welcoming. Finding a place to
live became complicated because most property owners would not rent to Hispanics. The racial
redlining became so extreme that many Hispanic residents curtailed their movements between work,
church, and home, avoiding being out on the streets so as not to encounter harassment (Wilson, 2007,
Para 6).
Racial Discrimination and Hispanics 5
Today, racial redlining has taken many forms; a specific example is the increasingly high insurance
rates for minority groups such as the Hispanics. In 1994, the National

Child Pornography Is An Acceptable And Unavoidable Work...
People in the adult film industry are exposed to sexually transmitted infections in the workplace.
There are no other legal occupations in America where the exposure to diseases is an acceptable and
unavoidable work practice. This paper will go into depth about some of the risks that adult film
workers face, the prevalence of STIs in the adult film industry, whether or not the industry should be
regulated, and some potential policy implementations for the future health of adult film workers.
Every year up to 11,000 adult films are made in the US alone. It is a multi billion dollar industry that
employs approximately 75% women. In California, where most adult films in the US are made, there
are up to 1,500 adult film workers. There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only 3% of penile vaginal sex scenes and 9.5% of penile anal intercourse in heterosexual films
showed condom usage. In homosexual films, the researchers noted that 80% of penile anal sex scenes
showed condoms. In both homosexual and heterosexual movies, there was 0% of condom usage for
penile oral contact (Grudzen, et al. 2009). These statistics suggest that condom usage among male
homosexuals is more socially acceptable because of the higher prevalence of HIV in that community.
The low usage of condoms in heterosexual films also suggests that OSHA compliance in the
Californian adult film industry needs to be more heavily regulated (Grudzen, et al., 2009). In 2004,
there was a cluster of HIV infections in the Californian adult film industry. Although adult film
workers are supposed to voluntarily get tested monthly for HIV and other STIs, there is still a window
of time where the HIV virus is not detectable by test. It was during this window that a man infected 3
female adult film workers with HIV. He had his monthly test on February 12, 2004 and on March
17th, 2004 and was negative both times, yet he tested positive on April 20th 2004. The adult film actor

suspicious looking cave and take a look around. Once he entered the cave about fifteen feet in, the
walls started to glow and light up with many colors and he thought, What is going on here? As Mason
looked at the walls, he saw himself as a baby. It seemed as if the cave was a theatre. Before he knew
it, the walls were already showing himself as a teenager that was thirteen years old. Mason kept
watching his memories on the walls play his life before his eyes. Mason was so mesmerized that he
didn t even realize the cave was filling up with water.
He had reached the point where he was seeing himself in the cave watching the memories. Soon, as he

The Media And Its Impact On World Events
Yahoo News, Huffington Post, CNN, Fox News, and Buzzfeed; these are some of the most popular
sites today for current news on world events. But what if there was a newspaper for everything
trending online? Cue Reddit, the Front Page of the Internet. Reddit shares many of the same attributes
as online news with its timely and interactive content; however, its goal is not to deliver objective
facts but to rank information by how interesting it is. Many successful websites require an equal
balance of ethos, pathos, and logos to generate traffic. Reddit is unique in that its success comes
almost exclusively from its use of pathos to keep a loyal user base.
Reddit maintains a stronger pathos than ethos or logos because its content is controlled by its users
instead of editors. Co founders Alexis Ohanian and Steve Huffman developed the idea of Reddit on
the basis that good reference material never actually really conveyed what was new and interesting of
the moment (Big Think). Their website uses multiple algorithms to allow users to organize content
through a voting system and to ensure that new posts receive the same attention as old posts which
keeps content both fresh and engaging.
The system that Reddit utilizes to keep content timely also leads to some confusion for new visitors
are unfamiliar with content sharing sites such as Pinterest or Tumblr. Before the top trending news

Explain What Black Belt Means To Me Essay
What Tae Kwon Do Means to Me
Whenever I mention that I do martial arts, the first question that is posed to me is Are you a black
belt? Well, now I finally have the answer. Yes. My black belt holds a significant value in my life and it
always will. So far, this is the biggest achievement for me and my family played an equally important
role in this accomplishment. After all, tae kwon do truly means a lot to me.
I earned my black belt after three and a half years of hard work and dedication. Great devotion is
needed to reach to this rank. Therefore, I am honored to call myself a black belt. As taken into
consideration, reaching to the stage of black belt is similar to reaching a high skill level in life. I

my brother is always there for me. He shares everything with me, even his favorite chocolates. And he

Conservative Viewpoints
Conservatives and liberals have completely different views of the purpose of government. Like two
ends of a stick, their views are against one another although they should be the same. However, there
is always a moderate position that can satisfy both extreme ends. As our title states, we should be
united. My personal beliefs and ideals would be assisting me when finding the moderate views, for I
m neither a conservative nor a liberal; I believe in pleasing both ends, which, despite the stories, can
be possible.
The first portion of the preamble states that the purpose of government is to establish justice. While
conservatives believe that justice only means punishing the criminal (Hardisty), liberals believe that

To conservatives, it would mean that the government would allow free use of weapons in order for the
individual to protect him/herself. To liberals, it would mean that the government is there to protect the
citizens, to provide protection for the individuals. Conservatives don t trust the police, as the police
force is a part of the government. Similar to how liberals don t trust anyone with a weapon, seeing
many homicide stories have made the headlines. As a moderate, I ve done researches on how other
countries control their government and I found one weapon control from Japan to be very suitable for
our own use in the United States. The idea benefits both sides of the party; the common individuals
are allowed to have weapons for their own protection but only when they have taken classes and pass
a certain test of mental and physical health to prove their fitness. A background check is also permitted
to prevent any member of criminal or extremist groups to have such weapons. Then a file is kept along
with all gun owners in that area. Every few years, the individual could take their weapon to the police
for inspection and any broken parts. Every few years, the individual would also retake the fitness tests
to ensure they are still very able to keep the firearm. This includes to all police members as well. That
would be gun control, it s not taking away a person s right to bear

Marriage Is The Legal Or Officialising Process
Marriage is an institution that ages back to ancient societies. It offered a secure environment and legal
benefits to facilitate the granting of property rights. Marriage is the legal or officialising process by
which two people under go to be recognized publicly and by law .It is the joining of two people in a
bond that relatively lasts until death, but in practice is increasingly cut short by divorce .Marriage
allows a couple to have a stable relationship that is recognized by the state and by whatever religious
views the couple chooses to conform to , as well as providing a good environment in which to raise
children. With continuous increasing amount of premarital cohabitation, single parent families and
children born outside of wedlock, as well as divorce, it seems that the institution has lost its
popularity. This essay argues that the institution of marriage has ceased to have relevance to modern
society because it protects against harms itself creates, with that divorce rates have increased
extremely above all it defies the modern idea of equality.
With the increasing popularity of homosexuality not only among the average population but also
almost celebrities, marriage equality has become the new trend. Marriage is an outdated institution as
it defies the modern idea of equality. Specifically sexual equality it has a tendency to create vast
inequality in a society. The religious definition of a marriage is when two people of opposite sex make

Essay on Shakespeare
William Shakespeare often examines the personal transformation of characters in his works. His
frequent illustrations of changing players most likely suggests that he is a true believer in the idea of
people being able to emotionally grow. Moreso, the author essentially endorses the thought of
developing humanity as a living being. Parallel to King Richard in Richard II, he illustrates many
characters throughout his works whom undergo similar personal growth. Oftentimes these personal
changes occur when a character suffers great loss in life. In this particular play these changes give the
readers a chance to develop a bit of fondness in the once ignorant king. Most readers would normally
accept positive changes within the mind and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This proves to be one of his first statements that allow the reader to view his belief in divine rights to
rule, and that he simply loves the authority that has been given to him. Richard realizes that for either
man to win, it would not be in his best personal interest. He proceeds to banish both Bolingbroke and
Mowbray, which portrays his dismissive attitude. Thus, he does not want to actually deal with any
occurring problems that he is supposed to, but simply hold the title of king and flatter his supporters
(who are, in turn, out to overrule him). Being the pinnacle of hierarchy in his country, he does nothing
to help with the problems that are arising. Instead of implementing ways to help people he pouts and
whines, which obviously do not help the reader to respond positively towards him. Another example
of his belief in divine rights is shown by his repetitive reference to himself as we. Richard states, We
were not born to sue, but to command; which since we cannot do to make you friends. (2.1.196 197).
The we reference is merely the metaphysical expression for his office as king (essentially godlike) or
both man and majesty fused as one. In the first act there are a handful of phrases where Richard s
name is juxtaposed by proceeding God of Heavens. This is to further reinforce the concept of his
divinity as the King. Richard believes himself to be immortal and this is why his tainted decisions to
sit back and do nothing result in personal

  • 2. Protection of Intellectual Property Essay Protection of Intellectual Property Introduction There is a lot of controversy about intellectual property and its application to software. There are many difficult, fundamental questions that arise, such as exactly what aspects of a piece of software should be protected under copyright or patent. [5] Despite the fact that applying existing laws to software is not very straight forward, some sort of legal protection for intellectual property is necessary, as it provides a significant amount of positive outcomes, which will be described further in this paper. We will argue that the legal protection for intellectual property is an ethical obligation from a rule utilitarian ethical framework because it promotes innovation and economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [6] One of the most useful aspects of the legal protection of intellectual property is the drive towards innovation that it inspires. This is traditionally accomplished through a monetary incentive that is a result of the exclusivity granted by a copyright or patent. The potential of being granted the exclusive rights for the creation and distribution of a potentially new and useful idea or technology is what drives people to create new ideas in a capitalist society. [4] By copyrighting software, software developers are encouraged to create new and exciting software because they have, at the very least, a monetary incentive to benefit from their work. Finally, copywriting software allows the creator to determine how his software is to be used. For example, software copyright has enabled licenses like the General Public License, which allows anyone to use the software without restriction, but requires that any modification of the software be shared openly like the original. [3] Clearly, the rights granted by legal protection of intellectual property have and will continue to promote innovation. The legal protection of intellectual property also promotes economic growth. The manufacturing industry, as well as the pharmaceutical and publishing industries are among many industries in the modern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Interview With A Teacher With Lori Bunting I interviewed a teacher from Seckman High School named Lori Bunting. I asked Lori several questions and she gave me more insight on the teaching career. Lori graduated from Southeast Missouri State in in 2000 with her Bachelors in Secondary Education and Mathematics. She then received her masters in classroom teaching in 2008 from Missouri Baptist University. With student teaching in my near future I thought asking her about her student teacher experience would give me some advice on what my next steps are. Lori student taught at two different schools and for eight weeks each. The first place she student taught was at Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, Missouri. Lori stated that the school was very small and only had one math teacher. She said this gave her an insight of what it would feel like to teach in a small school. On the other hand, she also taught at Cape Central High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She said she really enjoyed this experience because the school was much bigger and she felt more involved in the school. She said that unlike today, she had no choice of where she student taught but she was grateful for the experience she had at both Oak Ridge High School and Cape Central High School. As a future teacher I was curious what the day to day life of a teacher consists of. I asked Lori to explain to me what a typical day as a teacher looks like. Lori told me that she normally arrives to school about 45 minutes before the day begins and gets her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay On Expungement Expungement is a process that allows the erasure, destruction or sealing of a criminal conviction or juvenile adjudication after the time has ended (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). In the United States, forty sates allow individuals to expunge their arrest records and criminal records (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). Even if an expungement is granted, the information can still be accessed by law enforcement, courts, and other government agencies (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). The expunging of a person s criminal records and arrest records allows him or her to seek housing, employment, financial aid and etc. without stigmatism (McKnight, 2005). Statutes or inherent judicial authority allow criminal records to be expunged (McKnight, 2005). According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The steps in the statutory expungement process includes: filing a petition, serve notice to prosecutor and victim, hearing, expungement order and burden of proof, expungement of specific conviction records, appeal of expungement order, and distribution of orders (McKnight, 2005). Criminal records that are not expunged by statute may qualify for expungement under the court s inherent authority (McKnight, 2005). • 5. Beach Descriptive Essay After lazily waking up, my family and I head to the beach to enjoy the brisk day. It s only around seventy five degrees, but that doesn t falter our excitement for the beach. The sun shines through the clouds as we head down to pick a spot. The waves are calm and inviting as we lay our stuff down. The wind is moving through the beachgrass like a quiet whisper. The seagulls caw, and attempt to steal the snacks we brought. There s some kids playing in the water, but more are playing in the sand since the water s so cold. Days like this are quite typical at the beach in Hilton Head, South Carolina. In Hilton Head, near Coligny Beach, the small village where we stay is quite somnolent. It seems like no one is ever awake before 9am. In the center of the sleepy town there s a Piggly Wiggly. Everyone goes in there to get their groceries and beach supplies. Next to it there s an ice cream shop, the Frozen Moo, which has some of the best ice cream I ve ever had. The shop has at least ninety different flavors from Apple Pie to Rainbow Sherbet. There s a mural on the wall of cows surfing at the beach with brightly colored chairs and tables; going along with the cow theme, there s even a life size replica of a cow that they dress up for holidays. When walking into the town center, the beach is right across from it. The smell of the ocean air and breeze coming through the town almost hypothesizes you to move towards the waves. Since it s fairly cold in the morning, no one is ever there. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Heart Of Myocardial Infraction The heart: Myocardial infraction The heart is an organ that pumps blood around the body by using 2 separate pumps side by side. The left side of the pump deals with oxygenated blood from the lungs whereas the right one deals with deoxygenated blood from the body. Each pump has 2 chambers called atrium and ventricle. The walls of the atrium are thinner than the ventricle because the atrium only has to pump blood to a short distance (to the ventricle) whereas the ventricles need to pump blood to the rest of the body. The heart has 3 types of pacemaker cells called; Sino atrial (SA) node, Atrioventricular (AV) node and bundle of His which make up the electrical conduction system. SA node found in the right atrium sends a wave of depolarisation to the neighbouring muscle junction, to the left atrium by the Bachmann s bundle and also to the AV node by the internodal tract. AV node delays the wave of depolarisation causing the ventricle to contract after the atria. The AV node causes that delay to allow all the blood to fully move from the atria to the ventricle then the ventricle can contract sending the blood out the heart. After the AV node has delayed the wave of depolarisation, the wave continues down by a bundle of His and the fibres split up by the Purkinje fibres allowing the muscle to get involved. The wave of electrical released from the fibres causes the ventricles to contract. Action potential The pacemaker cells are automaticity which means that they don t ... Book Thief Macbeth Comparison Macbeth amp; The Book Thief: A Comparison between Ambition present in the Novels In comparing Shakespeare s Macbeth and Zusak s Book Thief, though the books deal with different time eras, characters and even language styles, there are some striking similarities between the themes in both novels. The themes are evident throughout both novels, these themes give a better understanding of the author s message he wants to portray to his audience. Both books show ambition effectively in many situations. In Macbeth we see how far one man will go to see a goal accomplished and achieve his ultimatum. In the Book Thief we witness a girl with the ambition to learn how to read, and she will do anything to ensure she keeps learning. Ambition is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Liesel is ambitious in other ways as well, when her family gets a new visitor, a Jewish man named Max. It is her goal to figure out everything she can about Max. Eventually they become very close and end up revealing secrets to each other and comfort each other through the good and bad times. (Part 4, Pg 220 Ln 6). Liesel will do anything to keep her goal alive even if that means rebelling against the morals she was raised with. The power of ambition can cause even the most harmless person to act out in obscured ways. In Macbeth, it is a goal driven by spite that causes a man to act out in an unpredictable way. The full potential of spite and revenge driven by ambition is witnessed after a family and father are murdered in cold blood. If you want something you will go after it, however if you add spite and revenge to the mix you will desire the outcome of your goal even more. After Macbeth kills Duncan and on top of that orders the brutal slaughter of Macduff s wife and kid, there are two men stricken with grief and vow revenge. Malcolm has raised an army in England and he along with Macduff go to Scottland to challenge Macbeth s forces. • 8. The Beauty of the Mundane in Gustave Flaubert’s Madame... The Beauty of the Mundane in Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary In Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary, it is difficult to know what to think of Monsieur Binet and his lathe. His constant devotion to such an unrewarding pursuit would seem to act as the bourgeois backdrop to Emma Bovary s quest for eternal passion and excitement, a polar opposite with which Emma can stand in sharp contrast. However, it turns out that Binet and his lathe have more in common with Emma and her rampant desires than what would first appear obvious. (28) In this one sentence Flaubert not only gives example of how the works are repetitive, with similar plots, and dying horses on every page, but he also manages to capture the clichéd, melodramatic style of romance novels that makes them all seem the same. The repetitiveness extends into real life as well, as Emma s love affairs constantly lose their fire and begin to become routine, or, as Rodolphe notes, the charm of novelty, falling down slowly like a dress, expose[s] only the eternal monotony of passion, always the same forms and the same language (154). The feeling of superiority that the lathe gives Binet fits more obviously with Emma s action and character. He uses his lathe with the jealousy of an artist and the egoism of a bourgeois (60). He feels that his craftsmanship and dedication to the lathe make him superior to those deprived souls that do not have one. We see these feelings firsthand when Binet suggests to Leon that he should take up the lathe as a solution to his problems. When Leon admits that he knows nothing about lathes, Binet replies That is true, and strok[es] his chain, with a look that mingle[s] disdain and satisfaction (94). Men and Women in Nontraditional Sports as Portrayed in Film Women and men play various sports because they as Americans want to experience the excitement of playing for fun, and doing something they love. The idea of what men and women can do for fun in sports has been shaped by the American society in many different ways through the media, schooling and education, and professional sports organizations. America portrays women playing field hockey and doing synchronized swimming while men do boxing, and body building. The costs of this sport may be unfair judging of the bodybuilders because the judges are still divided on what makes a woman s feminine form better. The bodybuilders had to deal with assumptions of the public that accuse them of unnatural or homosexual. A main character, Bev Francis had to frequently insist that she was a woman not a man, and she was faced with the questioning of her sexuality. Bev s muscles, dress, heavy facial features, and unfeminine body language evoke the stereotype of what a lesbian looks like: the butch, the lesbian who is immediately recognizable as such, visibly different. Bev had a strong belief that she looked like a woman and that she was beautiful and strong. A risk she faced was being hurt by the public s comments about her body and sexuality. The social and cultural costs of being a male playing non traditional sports does not seem as severe as it does because men are not driven away from sports. Women are constantly being driven away from any sport from the fear of being labeled as unfeminine or lesbian. Men who want to play non traditional sports will probably be more likely to be stereotyped as gay, or feminine. But if a man plays a traditional male sport, he will not be subjected to unwanted assumptions or sexual advances. Men do not benefit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on A Conversation with My Father by Grace Paley A Conversation with My Father , by Grace Paley The short story A Conversation with My Father , by Grace Paley, combines several themes and the author uses the elements of abandonment, denial, irony, humor and foreshadowing, to bring this emotional story together. This story is mainly about the relationship between a parent and his child. The primary characters are a father, and his child. There is no mention of whether the child is his daughter or son. Her story describes the life of a mother and her son, and how she becomes a junkie to remain close to her son, who has become a junkie. For example, the son left his mother at a critical time, when she needed him most, whereas the narrator stayed with her dad, even in his dying days. The father does not believe that the woman in his daughter s story is strong enough and that even though she manages to quit doing drugs, she will fall back. I would tend to agree with him, because a lot of substance abusers, who quit, eventually, fall back. Her story is too optimistic, with a sense of denial for the tragedy. • 15. Explain The Adversarial Approach To Court Proceedings 1. I believe the adversarial approach to court proceedings tends to render a just determination in most cases. However, I also believe the adversarial approach has faults within the system. The adversarial system offers many safeguards to ensure that justice is fair. Lawyers are allowed to have a decision in the jury process at both civil and criminal proceedings. Yet, the civil matters can only have a jury in Superior Court for specific types of claims. Selection of the jury helps the advocates ensure that their clients receive the highest fairness of justice. Advocates do their best to ensure that all jury members are impartial to their clients matter. Although judges and advocates do their best to ensure the jury is impartial, there are instances when the jury feels more attached to one client. Generally speaking, if the case before the jury involved a man assaulting a young girl and the jury was predominantly women, the jury may decide in favour of the young girl before hearing all aspects of the matter. This creates bias within the justice system. Relying on peers of a society is not always the best option. Jurors may not understand that they are only to look at facts of the case and not outstanding matters. There have been famous Canadian cases, David Milgaard and Steven Truscott, where the jury decided wrong on a matter and the men went to prison for decades. Beowulf lived and died by the unwritten code of Comitatus in order to maintain his status as hero. Beowulf s social interactions and the fight with Grendel, Grendel s mother, the dragon demonstrate the hero s lust for maintaining a good reputation through the code of Comitatus. Exothermic Reaction In this report 3 fuels, ethanol, pentan 1 ol and 1 butanol were tested to determine the experimental heat of combustion and to decide which would be the best fuel to take on a camping trip. Combustion takes place when fuels react with oxygen to produce heat (E inst.com, 2015). The heat created by the burning of fuel is used in the operation of equipment such as boilers and furnaces, as well as heat being produced, when reactants undergo combustion CO2 (carbon dioxide) and H2O (water) are formed as byproducts of the exothermic reaction (E inst.com, 2015). Exothermic reactions occur when the forming of a chemical bond releases energy therefore creating an exothermic process (Kentchemistry.com, 2015). An exothermic reaction has a negative deltaH, because the enthalpy of the products is lower than the enthalpy of the reactants of the system (Chemwiki.ucdavis.edu, 2015). An Endothermic reaction absorbs energy in the form of heat. In an endothermic reaction deltaH is positive because the enthalpy of the products is higher than the enthalpy of the reactants in the system (Chemwiki.ucdavis.edu, 2015). • 28. The Media And Its Impact On World Events Yahoo News, Huffington Post, CNN, Fox News, and Buzzfeed; these are some of the most popular sites today for current news on world events. But what if there was a newspaper for everything trending online? Cue Reddit, the Front Page of the Internet. Reddit shares many of the same attributes as online news with its timely and interactive content; however, its goal is not to deliver objective facts but to rank information by how interesting it is. Many successful websites require an equal balance of ethos, pathos, and logos to generate traffic. Reddit is unique in that its success comes almost exclusively from its use of pathos to keep a loyal user base. Reddit maintains a stronger pathos than ethos or logos because its content is controlled by its users instead of editors. Co founders Alexis Ohanian and Steve Huffman developed the idea of Reddit on the basis that good reference material never actually really conveyed what was new and interesting of the moment (Big Think). Their website uses multiple algorithms to allow users to organize content through a voting system and to ensure that new posts receive the same attention as old posts which keeps content both fresh and engaging. The system that Reddit utilizes to keep content timely also leads to some confusion for new visitors are unfamiliar with content sharing sites such as Pinterest or Tumblr. • 30. Conservative Viewpoints Conservatives and liberals have completely different views of the purpose of government. Like two ends of a stick, their views are against one another although they should be the same. However, there is always a moderate position that can satisfy both extreme ends. As our title states, we should be united. My personal beliefs and ideals would be assisting me when finding the moderate views, for I m neither a conservative nor a liberal; I believe in pleasing both ends, which, despite the stories, can be possible. The first portion of the preamble states that the purpose of government is to establish justice. While conservatives believe that justice only means punishing the criminal (Hardisty), liberals believe that justice means that society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To conservatives, it would mean that the government would allow free use of weapons in order for the individual to protect him/herself. To liberals, it would mean that the government is there to protect the citizens, to provide protection for the individuals. Conservatives don t trust the police, as the police force is a part of the government. Similar to how liberals don t trust anyone with a weapon, seeing many homicide stories have made the headlines. As a moderate, I ve done researches on how other countries control their government and I found one weapon control from Japan to be very suitable for our own use in the United States. The idea benefits both sides of the party; the common individuals are allowed to have weapons for their own protection but only when they have taken classes and pass a certain test of mental and physical health to prove their fitness. A background check is also permitted to prevent any member of criminal or extremist groups to have such weapons. Then a file is kept along with all gun owners in that area. Every few years, the individual could take their weapon to the police for inspection and any broken parts. Every few years, the individual would also retake the fitness tests to ensure they are still very able to keep the firearm. This includes to all police members as well. That would be gun control, it s not taking away a person s right to bear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Essay on Shakespeare William Shakespeare often examines the personal transformation of characters in his works. His frequent illustrations of changing players most likely suggests that he is a true believer in the idea of people being able to emotionally grow. Moreso, the author essentially endorses the thought of developing humanity as a living being. Parallel to King Richard in Richard II, he illustrates many characters throughout his works whom undergo similar personal growth. Oftentimes these personal changes occur when a character suffers great loss in life. In this particular play these changes give the readers a chance to develop a bit of fondness in the once ignorant king. Most readers would normally accept positive changes within the mind and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This proves to be one of his first statements that allow the reader to view his belief in divine rights to rule, and that he simply loves the authority that has been given to him. Richard realizes that for either man to win, it would not be in his best personal interest. He proceeds to banish both Bolingbroke and Mowbray, which portrays his dismissive attitude. Thus, he does not want to actually deal with any occurring problems that he is supposed to, but simply hold the title of king and flatter his supporters (who are, in turn, out to overrule him). Being the pinnacle of hierarchy in his country, he does nothing to help with the problems that are arising. Instead of implementing ways to help people he pouts and whines, which obviously do not help the reader to respond positively towards him. Another example of his belief in divine rights is shown by his repetitive reference to himself as we. Richard states, We were not born to sue, but to command; which since we cannot do to make you friends. (2.1.196 197). The we reference is merely the metaphysical expression for his office as king (essentially godlike) or both man and majesty fused as one. In the first act there are a handful of phrases where Richard s name is juxtaposed by proceeding God of Heavens. This is to further reinforce the concept of his divinity as the King. Richard believes himself to be immortal and this is why his tainted decisions to sit back and do nothing result in personal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
