Observation 1: 3year old boy ~ Beginning Oral Fluency Stage
Observing the interaction with this little boy, I was truly amazed at his ability to hold a
conversation with his mother. He freely expressed himself and was able to tell his mother what he
wanted if he was requesting anything. I did notice a couple of times his mom had to ask him to
repeat himself because she had a bit of a hard time understanding what it was that he was saying.
However, she was able to put the pieces she did

Vincent Van Gogh And Salvador Dali
Van Gogh, Starry Night (1889) / Salvador Dali, The Persistence of Memory (1931), are two
paintings that come from a distinct time period. The two movements share a common motivation
and reject the interest of observing the world, the artists instead looked into their memories and
emotions in order to connect with the viewer on a deeper level. Both the Post Impressionist and
Surrealist represent reality as a reflection of the creative potential of the unconscious mind, and
inner self.
Post Impressionist artists were influenced by the Impressionism movement, but rejected its
limitations and embarked on their own artistic styles which were more spiritually and emotionally
based than impressionist work. They wanted to portray emotion and intellect as well as the visual
imagery. Vincent Van Goghwas a Dutch Post Impressionist artist whose work is known for its
vivid colors and emotional impact. Although he sold only one painting during his lifetime, Van
Gogh now is one of the most popular artists of all time. Van Gogh s mental instability provided a

Night Inhumanity And Humanity Essay
Alan Paton once said, There is only one way in which one can endure man s inhumanity to man and
that is to try, in one s own life, to exemplify man s inhumanity to man. By stating these words, Paton
means that the only way one can stop the mistreatment of humans is to completely abolish
inhumanity and strive for more humanity. Throughout the novels Tuesdays with Morrie and Night,
both inhumanity and humanity are displayed. Inhumanity is the extremely cruel behavior bestowed
upon humans and humanity is the exact opposite. The authors of the two novels, Mitch Albom and
Elie Weisel, write about good and bad times in the main characters lives that are being told about in
their books. Inhumanity and humanity play as major themes all throughout... Show more content on

Wiesel interprets the things that he and his family, along with the rest of the Jews, had to
endure under Hitler s power. Hitler and his Nazi soldiers are accountable for the millions of
Jews deaths due to the inhumanity that they illustrate. The Nazi soldiers did things such as beat,
burn, and tortured the Jewish people just because they were Jewish. They forced them to travel
like a herd of animals without food or water. They took away their hair, clothes, and family,
without giving them a warning. Hitler wanted to exterminate the Jewish people. One example of
how inhumane the Jews were treated is that they did not have names. When arriving to the
concentration camps, they were given identification numbers. This took away the Jews pride.
Another example of the terrible treatment Elie received is when he was beaten by a whip for a
long period of time. Twenty four...twenty five! (Weisel 58). Elie was whipped twenty five times
and passed out because he had interfered in people s affair according to a soldier. The Jews had to
endure this mistreatment for several months and years and most of them did not survive due to the
inhumanity of Hitler and his Nazi

Nursing Case Study
Results During this course of the timeline provided, there were 725 ICU patients in this hospital.
Out of these ICU patients, only 85 of met the qualifications for this study. Out of the patients
presenting with a TBI with or without ARDS, 87.2% were men, with a mean age of 38.9 years.
Patients with ARDS with or without a TBI had a mean age of 48.3 years. Out of these patients,
70.9% were men. There were no significant differences in baseline parameters between either
those TBI patients with or without ARDS, or the ARDS patients with or without TBI. For the cases
of patients presenting in the ICU with non traumatic causes of ARDS, the most common were
diagnosed as having pneumonia at 73.7%, and extrapulmonary sepsis at 21.0%. The most... Show

The study intended to survey patients with TBI and ARDS, breaking down the connection between
their frequency and seriousness. ARDS affects up to 22% of TBI cases and is a known reason
for the death rate in these patients. During this studies investigation, 36.2% of patients with TBI
advanced with ARDS. It is likely that the high frequency of ARDS in this population of patients
with TBI could be because the seriousness of injury being with only trauma ICU admissions
examined. The most common of TBI is higher among men, with a mean age of 30 years, with
motor vehicle accidents as the cause for the patient s trauma. Alcohol and smoking were also noted
to have an association in regards to the development of ARDS in this study. 12.8% of the patients
in this study with TBI, and 9.1% with ARDS had a history or recent encounter with alcohol.
Alcohol was also a known culprit to be associated with motor vehicle accidents, or violence in
Brazil. The consumption increases the chances of ARDS in general. However, in this study, no
differences in ARDS incidence between alcoholic and non alcoholic victims of TBI were found.
This could be due to data and patient history being lost during this study course, or not properly
communicated. Smokers take up a high percentage of trauma cases, and this should be known to
lead to worse outcomes and difficulty in weaning these patients off mechanical ventilation.
Furthermore, nicotine withdrawal could be a relation to

The Battle Of San Juan Hill
MISSION COMMAND PAPER: THE BATTLE OF SAN JUAN HILL
The Battle of San Juan Hill took place in the hills surrounding Santiago, Cuba on July 1, 1898. It
was a battle between the Spanish forces commanded by General Arsenio Linares and the United
States Army V Corps commanded by MG William Schafter. Although the United States won the
battle, MG Shafter did not properly exercise all of the principles of mission command prior to and
during the battle. MG Shafter failed to provide a clear commander s intent and exercise prudent
risk, but several of his subordinate leaders developed cohesive teams through mutual trust and
exercised disciplined initiative to win the Battle of San Juan Hill.

MG Shafter and MG Lawton believed that El Caney could be taken quickly, thus planned for the
2nd Division to take El Caney and then line up to the right of the Cavalry Division during the San
Juan Hill assault. The assault on El Caney took longer than expected, and the 2nd Division lost
about 960 of its total 6,600 men to injury or death. Therefore, MG Lawton s 2nd Division was not
able to support the assault on San Juan Hill. , ,
On the morning of July 1st, the Cavalry and 2nd Divisions marched to San Juan Hill along the
Camino Real Rd in two columns. MG Sumner commanded the Cavalry Division, due to MG
Wheeler being sick. MG Shafter was also incapacitated during the battle; therefore, his aides
traveled back and forth from El Pozo to the line of forces to give orders, creating confusion and
stalling the onset of the battle. Together, the force consisted of about 8,400 troops, which split
when the road met the San Juan River. The Cavalry Division moved to the east side of the river
and the 1st Division to the west of the river. The juncture point, known as the bloody ford, was a
target for Spanish mauser fire that caused many American casualties. All units were in position to
attack by 1200, but were waiting for MG Lawton to finish the attack on El Caney and for orders
from MG Shafter to attack. The howitzer battery began firing from the bloody ford area around

The first thing parents complain about is the due process when it comes to student discipline.
Parents complain about the consequences are too strict when it comes down to removing students
out of the classroom or the school. Due Process, a course of formal proceedings (as judicial
proceedings) carried out regularly, fairly, and in accordance with established rules and principles,
(Merriam Webster Dictionary Online, n.d.). Due process is a civil right under the United States
Constitution afforded to all. When students face disciplinary consequences, students are guaranteed
due process. Students attending public schools, must be given the opportunity for due process, in
regard to restriction or interruption of their education, due to discipline issues and reasons,
(Washington Superintendent of Public Instruction, 2014). Students that attend public schools in the
state of Georgia are afforded similar provisions (Georgia Department of Education, n.d.).

The Adventures Of Mr. Obadiah Oldbuck Essay
Dating back to 1841, modern comics have had a long history. Since The Adventures of Mr.
Obadiah Oldbuck, which is generally accepted as the first American comic, comics as a genre of
literature has changed both technologically and in perception (Greenberger). Throughout American
history, comics have served as both an influence and a reflection of the time period. As America
grew, changed, and experienced major historical events, society and the ideas within changed along
with it.
Many comic historians cite Genovese author and painter Rodolph Töpffer as the first modern
comic artist ( Comics Theory ). Töpffer is the author of a comic titled Histoire de M. Vieux
Bois, which was published in 1839. This was eventually translated in 1841 to the first American
comic The Adventures of Mr. Obidiah Oldbuck (Greenberger). Though this was the first comic
published in America, it cannot be said to reflect American history very well since it was not
originally written in America. Instead, it was first published in Europe before gaining widespread
popularity in the United States (Töpffer 2014).
Years later in 1894, the first significant recurring comic stripcharacter The Yellow Kid debuted
(Greenberger). Created by Richard Outcault, The Yellow Kid was seen as the beginning of the
Funnies , the name given to comic strips in newspapers at the time ( Comic Theory ). His debut led
to an explosion of merchandising, culminating in the publication of a collection of comic strips in
1897.

Summary Of The Emancipation Proclamation
In the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, Abraham Lincoln states that if the Southern states
did not end their rebellion by January 1st, 1863, that Proclamation would go into effect. When the
South did not follow these terms, Lincoln issued the final Emancipation Proclamation on January
1st, 1863. This document helped lead the way to the total removal of slavery from the entire United
Statesand the creation of the thirteenth Amendment. The author of the Emancipation Proclamationis
the sixteenth president of the United States, Abraham Lincolnwho served from March 1861 to his
assassination in April 1865. Abraham Lincoln was born in Hodgenville, Kentucky and was
largely a self educated man. Later in Lincolns life he became a lawyer in Illinois, a Whig party
leader, and elected the Illinois House of Representatives. In 1846, he was elected to the United
States House of Representatives but shortly afterwards returned to Illinois to resume his law
career. When he decided to get back into politics in 1854 he became a leader in the building of
the new Republican Party which had popularity in Illinois. During Lincolns campaign for US
Senator from Illinois he participated in highly publicized debates with his opponent, Democrat
Stephen A. Douglas, where he spoke against slaveries expansion. He often expressed his dislike for
slavery in public and private, and eventually wanted to bring end to slavery. In 1860, Lincoln
became the Republican Party presidential nomination and

Prescribing Drugs And Its Effects On Children
Last year, I wrote about a scary trend in which doctors are prescribing powerful ADHD
medications to minors, whether they meet the ADHD diagnostic criteria or not. In that article, I
noted that more than 70 percent of the children receiving ADHD medications in my home state,
Oklahoma, do not meet diagnostic criteria for ADHD, according to the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention. Why, then, are so many young people being medicated with these drugs?
As I noted in the above piece, some doctors are prescribing ADHD drugs to kids simply to help
them get better grades in school. These study drugs, common for years among the college set, are
now being demanded by parents who want their kids to get top scores, even at the elementary
school level. But what are the risks? Well, besides the many well known side effects, including
stunted growth, sleep problems, personality changes, suicidal thoughts, heart attacks and strokes,
doctors have now added priapism and the possibility of permanent erectile dysfunctionto the list.
ADHD drugs and priapism According to this press release from the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration, many ADHD drugs, including those containing methylphenidate products,
atomoxetine, and even those containing amphetamine products have been reportedly linked to
cases of priapism. What is priapism? That is a painful erection that will not go away on its own and
requires emergency medical treatment. Left untreated, priapism can lead to permanent damage to

Let s Talk About Love By Carl Wilson
In Carl Wilson s story, Let s Talk About Love: A Journey to the End of Taste has dependably
disdained CГ©line from the earliest starting point. Be that as it may, while most analysts would

EMDR Therapy
Developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1987 by accident, Eye Movement Desensitization and
Reprocessing (EMDR) is a set of eye movements guided by the therapist that help the patient
process and change their reaction to certain traumatic memories (Mayo Clinic). Unlike other forms
of therapy, EMDR does not require the patient to speak with the clinician about their distressing
memories in detail. EMDR is then more favorable for some patients since they can seek treatment
from a therapist for their trauma without having to feel uncomfortable by completely disclosing
their disturbing memories.

longer than the 1 to 4 sessions that most patients take. In the preparation phase, the therapist has to

confide in the therapist her experiences, a therapeutic relationship between client and clinician is

Pink Floyd Meaning
The song, Time by the band Pink Floyd, is a deep song that has several of hidden meanings. Pink
Floyd is known for the meanings behind their songs, and this is one that falls in that category.
While when you first look and try to decipher these lyrics, nearly everyone gets the same result, don
t waste time. However, this song is a tragic story of someone who didn t live life to the fullest and
ended up unhappy with the outcome.
In the song, the lyrics say, You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way. This quote is
describing of how when majority of people were younger, time felt endless. It felt as though we
could simply just waste time doing anything because there is more time the next day. This song
really opens the listener s eyes as to how they are spending their day, and embracing every
second, as well as living it to the fullest. The song then says, Waiting for something or someone
to show you the way. This is explaining how when we were younger, there was always someone
to lead us, and help through all the difficult times. But as everyone grows up, those people are no

ABSTRACTIn the present study, we investigate laterality effects on motor learning based on motor
imagery workout in childhood. Four children groups that were mentally and physically right hand
performed reaching movement via upper and non upper hand with speed and accuracy as possible.
Before and after training session the movement time has recorded and analyzed. Results showed
that mental and physical practices through similar learning processes (similar exponentially
learning curves), have positive effect on both hand performance. But in comparison with mental
imagery, motion time in post test session became significant for both hands after physical practice.
More importantly, in comparison with motor imagery with non upper hand, mental imagery with
upper hand leads to wider progress in motor speed. This kind of advances did not show up in
control group. Findings of this study show priority of upper hand in motor learning via mental

funds for an investment pool in order to buy large blocks of shares of major U.S. corporations at
prices that were above the current market. This stopped the slide that day and stabilized the
market. However, in the Pecora Commission investigation of the Wall Street crash it was
discovered that starting in September of that year Wiggin began selling short his personal
shares of Chase. Using strictly family owned corporations, Wiggin was able to hide the trades
and create a position in which we would profit by having his company fail. He was able to short

Essay On Irish Imperialism
Until the 19th century European society was based upon single individuals and dynasties of
families. The nucleus of a group revolved around the centralized power of monarchs with no real
sense of national ties. Although communities claimed similar ethnicities and religious beliefs the
unity of this was limited by miniscule differences. Countries were greatly divided by this schism,
Protestants deeply mistrusted Catholics, Saxon and Hessen Germans were old rivals and French
forcible conquests of foreign monarchies created territorial tension. Activities like these created
great internal strife of civil wars and rebellions; it was not until the French Revolution that the

HOW DO YOU ENCOUNTER STATE AND CITIZENSHIP IN YOUR DAILY LIFE?
UNDERSTANDING STATE:
The modern word state has been derived from the word status earlier employed by Teutons. It was
Niccolo Machiavelli who first used the term state in political science. From the beginning of social
life, mankind has lived under some kind of authority. The authority has varied in its nature and has
exercised its function through different forms of organisation. Beneath these differences in the
concrete manifestation of political lifemay be observed a practical identity of purpose, and by
disregarding non essential elements and modification that arise ... Show more content on

Politically organized people of a definite territory iii. An organization of public law that is
monopolistic over the use of violence against a group or population iv. An organization which in
internal matters carries out its function through a unified set of institutions known as the government
.
ELEMENTS OF THE STATE:
The state, as said earlier may be viewed as both a concrete thing and an abstract idea. A concrete
thing means that it is specific human group or association and viewed in abstract terms, it is a
corporation possessing a juristic personality. The state is composed of both physical and
metaphysical elements. These elements are:
i.A group of human beings, i.e. population (population) ii. A territory upon which they permanently
reside (territory) iii. Internal sovereignty and independence from foreign control (sovereignty) iv. A
political organization or agency through which the collective will of the population is expressed,
i.e. government (government)
Absence of any one of these elements nullifies the state: all must exist together. The state is not
people, nor the land nor the government, but all of them in addition; the state must possess that
unity which makes it a distinct and independent political entity. These features are common to all
states, irrespective of their historically specific manifestation. For e.g., it applies to the Greek City
states, the medieval kingdom, the modern monarchy and all the other kinds of states that

Fed Ex vs UPS Case Analysis Essay examples
Executive Summery
The parcel service industry is made up of four main competitors. These competitors are UPS,
FedEx, Airborne Express, and the U.S. Postal Service. Since 2000, American consumers have spent
more than $50 billion to ship parcels, packages, and overnight letters. New parcel distribution
patterns developed due to the way U.S. manufacturing companies are operating. The Internet has
expanded the reach of direct marketing, particularly with retail transactions requiring home delivery.
Globalization has also created the need for parcel carriers to expand worldwide.

Manufactures also depended more on the customer, information technology, and the increase in the
use of technology in all parts of the economy. Companies such as FedEx, UPS, Airborne Express,
and USPS shipped parcels at a faster rate and were more reliable than other rail, motor, and water
carriers.
Trends and opportunities of the parcel service industry include globalization, e commerce, and
supply chain management. Internet logistics was FedEx and UPS s fastest growing business. The
internet enabled customers to link directly to retailers and their manufacturers. In 2001, parcel
carriers served almost all of the online market. They were able to provide information on packages
to customers through tracking systems on the web. This allowed customers to plan ahead and
decrease delays in deliveries. It also allowed for faster transactions and lower communication costs.
Parcel companies created partnerships with large Internet retailers. These partnerships allowed
parcel service companies to expand its overall delivery volume. Parcel companies improved tracking
by implementing several technological innovations. These included laser scanners and bar codes,
state of the art software programs, satellite and cell phone communication equipment, electronic
information interchanges, and the Internet.
Globalization is another major trend. Since the emergence of the

Liberalism in Canadian Government Essay
Liberalism is the best ideology for Canada s government and is a good combination of both
Socialism and Conservatism. Liberalism takes the finer parts from both ideologies to create a better
form of government. Canadians now have a choice in which ideology they like better by this
compromised form of government. The centre of the spectrum and the equilibrium of government
and individual ownership is the definition of Liberalism.
A good example of why Liberalism is the number one choice from most Canadians is public and
privatized hospitals. Right now, Canada only has public hospitals that are free for everybody in
need of medical assistance but require a health care plan. Public hospitals are paid by taxes, just
like public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Or they won t have to spend tons of money on private doctors. Instead, Canadians would have a
choice and freedom to choose whichever ideology objective they prefer.
This reason why we get such low and competitive prices on goods is due to the fact that we have
less government control on what kinds of shoes to wear, colour car to drive, etc. This is a
mostly Conservationist, who agree that their should be individual ownership on things. The
problem with this is, as sad as it is to say, people need to be given some direction because people
make mistakes. With this is in play, limits can be made to how low prices go or how you can t
sell certain items. Liberalism is exactly this and is already being implemented throughout Canada. I
find no problems with the way Canada s economy is running now, so why change it?
People are not equal. The whole idea of trying out for a team or getting a scholarship is what
makes us human. Humans are naturally competitive and strive to become better at whatever it is
they enjoy. Everybody is different, they can be smarter, stronger, faster, etc. Therefore I believe
that people with smarter, more complex jobs, should deserve more money. People who do not
apply themselves should earn less money. Again though, it comes down to choices. Unions were
created in Canada for the socialist point of view, where every worker in a union get roughly the
same pay and are treated fairly. Other jobs will offer

Lord Of The Flies Corruptal Analysis
The Lord of the Flies written by William Golding is a popular novel that deals with many themes.
The theme I will talk about is how humans and human nature can easily be corrupted by
surrounding influences and themselves. Simon is corrupted by the natural environment and the
nature of people around him. In contrast, there is Jack who was only corrupted by his obsessions.
Also, Ralph became morally corrupted after a combination of spending time with Jack s group and
being by himself. The Lordof the Flies shows that anyone can be corrupted by circumstance
especially if left alone. Simon is corrupted by uncontrollable forces like nature and the actions of
the people around him. In the beginning of The Lord of the Flies, Simon is the positive and helpful
character: Simon found for [the litteuns] the fruit they could not reach, pulled off the choicest from
up in the foliage, passed them back down to the endless, outstretched hands (Golding, 57). In this
quote, Simon helps out the littleuns which none of the other biguns on the island do, showing his
kindness and compassion. However, later in the novel, that kindness and compassion is eroded
when he is laughed at for his honest suggestion: What s the dirtiest thing there is? .... Simon s effort
fell about him in ruins; the laughter beat him cruelly and he shrank away... Show more content on

After Simon split from the group, he experienced the most corruption culminating with an
imaginary Lord of the Flies. Jack was the physical form of the Lord of the Flies, after his obsession
with hunting leads him to become the most corrupted on the island. After spending too much time
hunting with Jack and being by himself, Ralph started to slide down a slippery slope culminating
with a brutal assault on another survivor. In conclusion, The Lord of the Flies shows that the world
of children is not as innocent as it

Male inmates work their bodies constantly, doing hundreds of squat thrusts and jumping jacks even

Men s prisons divide the population by security level; women under minimum, medium and
maximum security freely mix. Men tend to congregate by race, whether or not they prefer to in the

Rarely do men become intimate with their keepers. Many women share their lives with officers

Cons Of Communism Research Paper
Capital as such is not evil, it is it s wrong us that is evil. Capital in some form or other will always

Communism is under the control under one major party that is the only producer, no private
property and the goods are available and equal to all. One of the major cons of communism is that
it takes away the voice of the people which goes against equality which is very important.
Socialism has a government that produces and distributes goods based on their work unequally.

When firms have such power, they change prices that are higher than can be justified based upon
the costs of production. Monopolies are not a problem because there is still money being acquired
and there is still competition. To produce high end products, it is easier to have one large firm
rather than several smaller ones. In other cases monopolies are essential for utilities like water and
electricity. It makes the most sense for a monopoly to control this because of the upfront expensive
cost. If they are not essential, the other companies would need to work harder to take down the
monopoly. More competition from the humans in animal farm rather than support might have

Competition and promotive equality are the main essentials for capitalism to be the most effective.
Competition makes businesses work harder to top each other. Companies can even think they have

Feinberg Court Case
I agree with Feinberg. Criminals who have no or limited ability to perceive their motivations
should be treated differently from a legal standpoint. As a society it is difficult to justify blaming
these criminals for their actions and it is not morally acceptable. I also agree with Feinberg that
even if these people are excused from the legal punishments for actions that it is likely that they
should be removed from society in a different way, especially if there is a large likelihood that they
will cause harm. A case that exemplifies that is Durham V. United States. The argument in this case
is that Monte Durham was convicted of housebreaking and the case that will be quoted is an appeal

it discussed that jurors should be instructed by a psychiatrist about the mental illness and the

You and your sister are soooooo different, my friend, who I had met at summer camp a couple

campers, in fear of her injury, and then a fit of booming laughter when she stuck up her thumb

Mozart And Beethoven s Musical Origins
Haydn began his musical career as a choirboy in Vienna up until the age of 17. Mozart and
Beethoven s musical origins are similar, both coming from families with musical backgrounds.
Mozart s father taught him and his sister before taking them to tour throughout Europe.
Beethoven also studied with his father before receiving his study abroad opportunity in Vienna
in 1792. After serving as a choirboy, Haydn found himself in need of a means to make a living.
He was barely able to support himself as a freelance musician. Haydn s first serious position
occurred around 1757 when he became music director for Count Morzin. It was also around this
time that Haydn began to write some of his first symphonies. Most of Haydn s earlier symphonies
were three movement works (fast slow fast), somewhat like the Italian opera overture. Other
symphonies were four movement works arranged much like a sonata de chiesa. In 1761, Haydn
began working for the EsterhГЎzy princes, spending nearly 30 years at the EsterhГЎzy court. He
composed at every wish of the EsterhГЎzy princes; any work they demanded. Haydn s duties
included conducting, training, and supervising all musicians, and maintaining instruments. He built
an orchestra of 25 players His time at Eszterhaza really influenced the success of his career; Haydn
got to hear his work in excellent performances. Because Esterhaza was so isolated, vsitors would

The Importance Of Race In The Film Slumdog Millionaire
If you can do nothing else, do whatever is in your power to make the people in your life feel
completely unashamed of who they are (Killermann). As times change and our society continues to
evolve, the importance of human rights and acceptance are constantly emphasized. Through the
movie, Slumdog Millionaire directed by Danny BoyleI learned about discriminationrelating to
social class. Additionally, in the song, Small Town Boy by Bronski Beat
, I learned about how gay
individuals may be judged by society. Through further analyzing and exploring these texts, I could
seek real life examples of how human rights can be violated. These texts prove that we must move
away from the deep rooted issue of discrimination and learn to accept, love, and celebrate our
differences not only as individuals but as a society.
In Danny Boyle s movie, Slumdog Millionaire , the use of pathos allows readers to understand
how discrimination relating to social class is a real issue. The movie follows the life of a Muslim

Diversity Judicial System Analysis
In this essay I will define what is judiciary and be discussing the statement that there is a strong
case for more diverse judiciary. Not only should there be equality of opportunity for those entitled
to apply . I will discuss about the judiciary that reflect the diversity and legal profession as whole,
make reference to the role of the judiciary, their selection, and training.
Judiciary is a system that interprets and execute the laws in the state, the role of the judiciary is
to supervise the conduct of a trial, sole arbiter of legal issues, has the power to deal with civil
cases and decide the result, interpret and clarify the law, has the right to deal with criminal cases
and to sum up to the jury and to pass sentence on those who plead guilty or have been convicted.
For many centuries the House of Lords was the supreme court of appeal for the entire UK in civil
cases and for England, Wales and Northern Ireland in criminal case. There are three types of legal

The Expense of Owning a Horse
Horses are expensive animals to have around and knowing exactly how expensive before you rush
out and buy one is imperative. Usually the cheaper part of getting a horse is the actual purchase
price. Horses can cost anywhere between a few hundred to thousands of pounds depending on the
type and breed of the horse, the age, who is selling the horse and why, how much training he s had
and how experienced he is. Buying a horse from a private seller Buying from a private seller
rather than a trainer, breeder or dealer can be a way to get a good deal and save money. Private
sellers often advertise in newspapers, on bulletin boards of tack stores or on buy and sell
websites. If you re inexperienced with horses be sure to bring along someone you trust when
seeing a horse. An experienced horseperson will be able to tell if the animal is good for you and
whether or not it seems to have any behavioural problems. If your expert feels the horse is sound
and good for you, then a vet will determine if the animal is health and suitable for what you want
to use it for. Some of the better reasons private owners sell their horses are a change in finances
resulting in the horse being too expensive to keep, moving and not being able to take the horse
with them, wanting to replace a beginner s horse with a seasoned show animal, children moving
out of the house and leaving no one to ride the horse or just generally losing interest in the hobby.
Unfortunately people also sell horses for less

The Human Body In Greek Art
Almost seven feet tall, a life like sculpture stands, broad and muscular, in the middle of the

the common denominators. Millions of people use computers and electronic devices multiple
times every day. Between innovation and use, the need to replace these devices is paramount and
creates a solid market for certain electronic manufacturers. One of the biggest environmental

In the last portion of the paper, various complexity analysis tools are examined in relation to Dell
and the computer/technology industry. The industry was examined in terms for the Fitness
Landscape, Boid Analysis, Industry Evolution Modeling, and Life Cycle Analysis. Examining Dell
in the context of multiple frameworks granted insights into key factors such as material inputs,
resource depletion, byproducts, waste and disposal options and stakeholder versus societal

Key Take aways
One critical factor repeatedly presented itself throughout this research project and that is the
absolute necessity for Dell to find a way to innovate in a sustainable manner. Having Chairman

Dell is losing ground to rivals such as HP in the areas of technological advances and sales.
Another key take away is that Dell leaders must invest in the training and re educating of

thousand athletes in contact sport are injured every year. By turning contact sports into non
contact sports would reduce injuries over the year. As illustrated by Gina Kolata using the best
data available, they calculated that if contact sports could be made noncontact like flag football.
For example there would be 49,600 fewer injuries among male college athletes per year and
601,900 fewer among male high school athletes . Contact sports should be reduced or eliminated
because it would decrease the amount of injuries in contact sports and would save money spent on
health bills. During Contact sports when injury occurs causes lots of amount of... Show more

ever since he played football in college . Even kids have died on football fields because of
surgeon contact sports like football and also memory loss the next day they don t even
remember their name. High school athletes are more prone to injuries, because they are not as
skilled, they have less experienced coaches and they may not be physically mature . Younger kids
lives risked in contact sports games for entertainment could cause in correct body function and or
Depression if anything in order to happen in any given time during contact in sports. The higher
the numbers go up on kids and Adults interested in playing football the higher the average of

Search for Freedom in John Updike s Of the Farm and Rabbit, Run
John Updike is often celebrated for his novels that depict men struggling against responsibility or
enduring personal endeavors. These characters represent a family of weak individuals facing
serious emotional turmoil. They are indecisive and self indulgent, juggling their problems with their
personal duties. Two excellent examples are Joey Robinson, a thirty five year old advertising
consultant in Of the Farm, and Harry Rabbit Angstrom, a gadget salesman in Rabbit, Run. Joey
spends a conflict filled week end on his mother s farm. Rabbit deals with problems that spring from
the desertion of his wife.
Although their situations are different, both characters are on ... Show more content on

For him, maturation is a form of decay and corruption, a deterioration of his youth. Talking to his
minister Jack Eccles, he says, If you re telling me I m not mature, that s one thing I don t cry
over since as far I can make out it s the same thing as being dead (Updike, Rabbit, Run 107).
Rabbit s adolescent uncertainties, however, are weaknesses that leave him unprepared to handle
the emotional rigors of events around him, making escape seem like a viable option. When
Eccles wonders what lies inside him, Harry responds, Hell, it s nothing much...it s just that, well,
it s all there is (qtd. in Burhans 155). Rabbit considers responsibility a threat to his liberty because
it forces him into a world he refuses to be a part of. Rabbit s quest for freedom, then, begins with
his doubts and confusion over responsibility.
The basic source of Joey Robinson s search for liberty is less apparent, because it centers around
burdens caused by his former relationships. Throughout his stay on the farm, Joey suffers from
the loss of his three children and first wife, Joan, and seems threatened by memories of his past
(Vargo 139). Instead of accepting who he is, he rejects responsibility to his past. When his step
son Richard inquires about a picture of Joan on the wall, he unsteadily replies, This house is too
full of me, indicating his pain and anxiety over his earlier years (Updike, Of the Farm 19). Joey s

REVITAHIP Study Essay
Introduction and aim
Hip fractures result in a number of health related problems and even mortality among older people.
Hypovitaminosis D is one of the prevalent issues related to hip fracture. The REVITAHIP study is a
trial with multisite and randomized control investigating the effect of an initial loading dose
vitamin D on recovery consequences after hip fracture surgery. The aim of the paper is to compare
the REVITAHIP study with other studies using vitamin D to improve the rehabilitation after hip
fracture surgery based on the assessed baseline characteristics of participants, with a focus on
hypovitaminosis D.
Methods
Demographic and clinical data of the involved participants were collected before the trial. The
trial randomly allocated the participants who were aged over 65, from public hospitals in
Australia and had a surgery demand within 7 days after hip fracture into two groups. The two
groups were provided by a loading dose of vitamin D3 or placebo, followed by receiving oral
calcium vitamin D combination tablets and regular recovery pathway. The hypothesis about the
relations between baseline vitamin D level and other variables was examined by Person chi square
test, ANOVA and regression analysis.

That is, the patients with hip fracture tended to have hypovitaminosis D, whereas the vitamin D
level of some participants was still normal. Furthermore, the participants taking psychotropic
medications and the older females with comorbidities such as arthritis and osteoporosis were more
likely to have hip fracture. Regarding the 25 OHD level, less vitamin D supplements, lower
Barthel index scores and higher reported VRS pain rating leaded to a lower 25 OHD baseline
levels, which can be a risk factor for falling. The factors affecting 25 OHD levels were consistence

The Dragon Who We Soon Discover
I had qualms at first about how exactly to complete a task such as this, being that my experience
with this type of writing is limited at best. However, I will confess there is much fun to be found
in the fanciful wordplay. Not only are we asked to fill in a piece of the story, requiring knowledge
of the plot line at this point in the story, but the task also prompts a deeper understanding of the
literary devices and influences present in this style of writing. A task of this nature not only
familiarizes students with both the plot line and the technical aspects of the writing, but also fosters
an opportunity to incorporate creativity and merge all of these dynamic fragments into a single
masterpiece.
To begin, I considered the surrounding plot of the story. Just before the section begins we learn
of the dragon who we soon discover is a major player in this epic tale. Thus far in the story the
dragon has played a rather dormant role. Beowulf has been ruling the kingdom for over 50 years
and we have heard not a single mention of the beast that sleeps as he guards his sparkly trove of
wealth. At this point we are also introduced to an escaped slave who wakes the fiery beast by
stealing a gem studded goblet from the lair. He claims that his thievery was in fact accidental, and
so proceeds the tale of his misadventures in the earthen pit. His story recounts that as he was
escaping the chains of slavery he unknowingly stumbled upon the lair, by chance finding himself
amid the

Organisational Behaviour Ch7
CHAPTER 7 DECISION MAKING AND CREATIVITY Describe the six stages in the rational
choice decision process Decision making: the conscious process of making choices among
alternatives with the intention of moving toward some desired state of affairs. Rational choice
paradigm of decision making: the view in decision making that people should and typically do, use
logic and all available information to choose the alternative with the highest value. Decision making
involves identifying, selecting and applying the best possible alternative. The best decision use pure
logic and all available information to choose the alternative with the highest value Such as highest

Initial info influences evaluation of subsequent info 2. Availability heuristic: we estimate
probabilities by how easily we can recall the event, even though other factors influence it. 3.
Representativeness heuristic: we estimate probabilities by how much they are similar to something
else, even when better information available. Problem with maximisation: people engage in
satisficing, selecting an alternative that is good enough rather than the alternative with the highest
value. To choose the best alternative is also demand more info processing capacity than what they
willing to apply. Making the best choice among many, can be cognitively and emotionally draining.
Evaluating opportunities: opportunity is different from the process of problem solving. Decision
makers not evaluate alternatives, after all, the opportunity is the solution, so why look further, they
tend to have an emotional attachment to the opportunity. EMOTIONS AND MAKING CHOICES:
Describe 3 ways in which emotions influences the selection of alternatives 1. Emotions from early
preferences: emotions form preferences before we consciously evaluate those choices 2. Emotions
change the decision evaluation process: moods and emotions influence how well we follow the
decision process. 3. Emotions serve as info when we evaluate alternatives: we listen in on our
emotions and use that info to make choices Intuitive

In the book of the Celebration of Discipline, Foster talks about the importance of an individual s
spiritual growth. Spiritual Discipline is very crucial to a Christian s life. Foster divided spiritual

  • 4. Night Inhumanity And Humanity Essay Alan Paton once said, There is only one way in which one can endure man s inhumanity to man and that is to try, in one s own life, to exemplify man s inhumanity to man. By stating these words, Paton means that the only way one can stop the mistreatment of humans is to completely abolish inhumanity and strive for more humanity. Throughout the novels Tuesdays with Morrie and Night, both inhumanity and humanity are displayed. Inhumanity is the extremely cruel behavior bestowed upon humans and humanity is the exact opposite. The authors of the two novels, Mitch Albom and Elie Weisel, write about good and bad times in the main characters lives that are being told about in their books. Wiesel interprets the things that he and his family, along with the rest of the Jews, had to endure under Hitler s power. Hitler and his Nazi soldiers are accountable for the millions of Jews deaths due to the inhumanity that they illustrate. The Nazi soldiers did things such as beat, burn, and tortured the Jewish people just because they were Jewish. They forced them to travel like a herd of animals without food or water. They took away their hair, clothes, and family, without giving them a warning. Hitler wanted to exterminate the Jewish people. One example of how inhumane the Jews were treated is that they did not have names. When arriving to the concentration camps, they were given identification numbers. This took away the Jews pride. Another example of the terrible treatment Elie received is when he was beaten by a whip for a long period of time. Twenty four...twenty five! (Weisel 58). • 9. The Adventures Of Mr. Obadiah Oldbuck Essay Dating back to 1841, modern comics have had a long history. Since The Adventures of Mr. Obadiah Oldbuck, which is generally accepted as the first American comic, comics as a genre of literature has changed both technologically and in perception (Greenberger). Throughout American history, comics have served as both an influence and a reflection of the time period. As America grew, changed, and experienced major historical events, society and the ideas within changed along with it. Many comic historians cite Genovese author and painter Rodolph TГ¶pffer as the first modern comic artist ( Comics Theory ). TГ¶pffer is the author of a comic titled Histoire de M. Vieux Bois, which was published in 1839. This was eventually translated in 1841 to the first American comic The Adventures of Mr. Obidiah Oldbuck (Greenberger). Though this was the first comic published in America, it cannot be said to reflect American history very well since it was not originally written in America. Instead, it was first published in Europe before gaining widespread popularity in the United States (TГ¶pffer 2014). Years later in 1894, the first significant recurring comic stripcharacter The Yellow Kid debuted (Greenberger). Created by Richard Outcault, The Yellow Kid was seen as the beginning of the Funnies , the name given to comic strips in newspapers at the time ( Comic Theory ). His debut led to an explosion of merchandising, culminating in the publication of a collection of comic strips in 1897. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Liberalism takes the finer parts from both ideologies to create a better form of government. Canadians now have a choice in which ideology they like better by this compromised form of government. The centre of the spectrum and the equilibrium of government and individual ownership is the definition of Liberalism. A good example of why Liberalism is the number one choice from most Canadians is public and privatized hospitals. The problem with this is, as sad as it is to say, people need to be given some direction because people make mistakes. With this is in play, limits can be made to how low prices go or how you can t sell certain items. Liberalism is exactly this and is already being implemented throughout Canada. I find no problems with the way Canada s economy is running now, so why change it? People are not equal. The whole idea of trying out for a team or getting a scholarship is what makes us human. Humans are naturally competitive and strive to become better at whatever it is they enjoy. Everybody is different, they can be smarter, stronger, faster, etc. Therefore I believe that people with smarter, more complex jobs, should deserve more money. People who do not apply themselves should earn less money. Again though, it comes down to choices. • 24. Lord Of The Flies Corruptal Analysis The Lord of the Flies written by William Golding is a popular novel that deals with many themes. The theme I will talk about is how humans and human nature can easily be corrupted by surrounding influences and themselves. Simon is corrupted by the natural environment and the nature of people around him. In contrast, there is Jack who was only corrupted by his obsessions. Also, Ralph became morally corrupted after a combination of spending time with Jack s group and being by himself. The Lordof the Flies shows that anyone can be corrupted by circumstance especially if left alone. Simon is corrupted by uncontrollable forces like nature and the actions of the people around him. In the beginning of The Lord of the Flies, Simon is the positive and helpful character: Simon found for [the litteuns] the fruit they could not reach, pulled off the choicest from up in the foliage, passed them back down to the endless, outstretched hands (Golding, 57). In this quote, Simon helps out the littleuns which none of the other biguns on the island do, showing his kindness and compassion. Mozart and Beethoven s musical origins are similar, both coming from families with musical backgrounds. Mozart s father taught him and his sister before taking them to tour throughout Europe. Beethoven also studied with his father before receiving his study abroad opportunity in Vienna in 1792. After serving as a choirboy, Haydn found himself in need of a means to make a living. He was barely able to support himself as a freelance musician. Haydn s first serious position occurred around 1757 when he became music director for Count Morzin. It was also around this time that Haydn began to write some of his first symphonies. Most of Haydn s earlier symphonies were three movement works (fast slow fast), somewhat like the Italian opera overture. Buying a horse from a private seller Buying from a private seller rather than a trainer, breeder or dealer can be a way to get a good deal and save money. If your expert feels the horse is sound and good for you, then a vet will determine if the animal is health and suitable for what you want to use it for. Some of the better reasons private owners sell their horses are a change in finances resulting in the horse being too expensive to keep, moving and not being able to take the horse with them, wanting to replace a beginner s horse with a seasoned show animal, children moving out of the house and leaving no one to ride the horse or just generally losing interest in the hobby. Rabbit s adolescent uncertainties, however, are weaknesses that leave him unprepared to handle the emotional rigors of events around him, making escape seem like a viable option. When Eccles wonders what lies inside him, Harry responds, Hell, it s nothing much...it s just that, well, it s all there is (qtd. in Burhans 155). Rabbit considers responsibility a threat to his liberty because it forces him into a world he refuses to be a part of. Rabbit s quest for freedom, then, begins with his doubts and confusion over responsibility. The basic source of Joey Robinson s search for liberty is less apparent, because it centers around burdens caused by his former relationships. Throughout his stay on the farm, Joey suffers from the loss of his three children and first wife, Joan, and seems threatened by memories of his past (Vargo 139). Instead of accepting who he is, he rejects responsibility to his past. When his step son Richard inquires about a picture of Joan on the wall, he unsteadily replies, This house is too full of me, indicating his pain and anxiety over his earlier years (Updike, Of the Farm 19). • 43. REVITAHIP Study Essay Introduction and aim Hip fractures result in a number of health related problems and even mortality among older people. Hypovitaminosis D is one of the prevalent issues related to hip fracture. The REVITAHIP study is a trial with multisite and randomized control investigating the effect of an initial loading dose vitamin D on recovery consequences after hip fracture surgery. The aim of the paper is to compare the REVITAHIP study with other studies using vitamin D to improve the rehabilitation after hip fracture surgery based on the assessed baseline characteristics of participants, with a focus on hypovitaminosis D. Methods Demographic and clinical data of the involved participants were collected before the trial. The trial randomly allocated the participants who were aged over 65, from public hospitals in Australia and had a surgery demand within 7 days after hip fracture into two groups. The two groups were provided by a loading dose of vitamin D3 or placebo, followed by receiving oral calcium vitamin D combination tablets and regular recovery pathway. The hypothesis about the relations between baseline vitamin D level and other variables was examined by Person chi square test, ANOVA and regression analysis. Results The ... Furthermore, the participants taking psychotropic medications and the older females with comorbidities such as arthritis and osteoporosis were more likely to have hip fracture. Regarding the 25 OHD level, less vitamin D supplements, lower Barthel index scores and higher reported VRS pain rating leaded to a lower 25 OHD baseline levels, which can be a risk factor for falling. The factors affecting 25 OHD levels were consistence with the factors affecting the activity and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Dragon Who We Soon Discover I had qualms at first about how exactly to complete a task such as this, being that my experience with this type of writing is limited at best. However, I will confess there is much fun to be found in the fanciful wordplay. Not only are we asked to fill in a piece of the story, requiring knowledge of the plot line at this point in the story, but the task also prompts a deeper understanding of the literary devices and influences present in this style of writing. A task of this nature not only familiarizes students with both the plot line and the technical aspects of the writing, but also fosters an opportunity to incorporate creativity and merge all of these dynamic fragments into a single masterpiece. To begin, I considered the surrounding plot of the story. Just before the section begins we learn of the dragon who we soon discover is a major player in this epic tale. Thus far in the story the dragon has played a rather dormant role. Beowulf has been ruling the kingdom for over 50 years and we have heard not a single mention of the beast that sleeps as he guards his sparkly trove of wealth. At this point we are also introduced to an escaped slave who wakes the fiery beast by stealing a gem studded goblet from the lair. He claims that his thievery was in fact accidental, and so proceeds the tale of his misadventures in the earthen pit. His story recounts that as he was escaping the chains of slavery he unknowingly stumbled upon the lair, by chance finding himself amid the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Availability heuristic: we estimate probabilities by how easily we can recall the event, even though other factors influence it. 3. Representativeness heuristic: we estimate probabilities by how much they are similar to something else, even when better information available. Problem with maximisation: people engage in satisficing, selecting an alternative that is good enough rather than the alternative with the highest value. To choose the best alternative is also demand more info processing capacity than what they willing to apply. Making the best choice among many, can be cognitively and emotionally draining. Evaluating opportunities: opportunity is different from the process of problem solving. Decision makers not evaluate alternatives, after all, the opportunity is the solution, so why look further, they tend to have an emotional attachment to the opportunity. EMOTIONS AND MAKING CHOICES: Describe 3 ways in which emotions influences the selection of alternatives 1. Emotions from early preferences: emotions form preferences before we consciously evaluate those choices 2. Emotions change the decision evaluation process: moods and emotions influence how well we follow the decision process. 3.
