Saul Hudson
Saul Hudson was born to an African American mother and British father in London on July 23, 1965
and even though he was born in London he was raised for most of his life in Los Angeles, California.
Saul was given the nickname Slash , by a family friend because he was very energetic and constantly
in motion growing up. He is now known as slash by everyone, and he says that the only two people
that call him by his first real name are, his mom and his doctor.
Slash learned to play the guitar as a teenager with Robert Wolin, a teacher at Fairfax Music School but
he soon lost interest in schoolwork and took up BMX racing, later he became more interested in
playing the guitar and gave up his biking.
In 1981, he joined his first band, known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Slash has played solos with a couple of famous artists, such as Michael Jackson in his Billy Jean
concert. In 1985 he joined Guns N Roses, and played with them until 1996 but is coming to perform
with them this year in El Paso.
Velvet Revolver, was another band he played in.
Hollywood Rose is another band he played guitar with, which also included Axl Rose and Izzy
Stradlin. But overall his first band was the Tidus Sloan band. Slash always uses Gibson Les Paul
guitars of various colors, with very few exceptions, his first guitar was a 1970/80s Memphis Les Paul,
he started moving on to funky looking guitars such as the 1978/79 B.C. Rich Mockingbird and the
B.C. Rich Warlock, after using a couple of non Gibson guitars he moved on and used for the most
part, Gibson guitars, his coolest one to me would be the 1967 Gibson EDS 1275 which looks like two
guitars in one, he owns two of these I believe. Slash

Direct Oxidation Of Methanol Lab Report
Proposed Mechanisms for the Direct Oxidation of Methane to Methanol
The oxidation of CH4 usually progresses to C02 and H20 because the intermediates are a series of
highly reactive radical reactions and this makes partial oxidation of CH3 into CH3OH very hard. In
addition, CH3OH oxidizes faster than CH4 and requires less energy for its oxidation. Industrial
attempts to synthesize methanol from methane is usually done indirectly since the direct methods have
low methanol specificity and yield. Current industrial methods for producing methanol involve
making synthesis gas from methane and then catalytically converting it to methanol. Several methods
are used such as steam reforming, and dry reforming. These methods require high temperature of
about 800°C, the reactions are endothermic requiring lot of energy. The end product of the reactions
also requires intensive purification from impurities such as sulfur and other compounds. Finding
feasible mechanisms for oxidation of methane to methanol cannot be over emphasized because of the
uses of methanol such as production of other chemicals like formaldehyde, acetic acid, for extraction
of sulfur and most importantly as an alternative to fossil fuels.
Due to the severe reaction conditions, energy intensive, and less efficient means of partial oxidative
production of methanol, ways of directly oxidizing methane to methanol are being investigated. Some
of the methods that have been researched are high pressure oxidation of methane in a flow system,
catalytic oxidation with copper, and gas phase homogenous oxidation where the reactors have no
stainless steel and products are prevented from contacting the wall of the reactor to improve methanol
selectivity and yield. Also, introduction of strong oxidants like N20 was explored, however, strong
oxidants are very expensive and so not feasible for industrial use.
Recent research, however, uses Methane Monooxygenases as a model. Methane Monooxygenases are
oxidoreductase enzymes commonly found in methanotropic bacteria. One of the most studied
methanotropic bacteria is Methylococcus capsulatus. It converts methane to methanol then methanol
to formaldehyde and formaldehyde to formate and carbon dioxide which is used energy

The Importance Of Presidency
Everyone is familiar with the paradox in which qualified graduates fresh out of college apply for a job
but is unfortunately denied because they lack the experience. Yet how can they gain experience for a
position if no one will hire them? In this situation, it may be more prolific to hire qualified individuals
despite their lack of job experience. However, in some cases allowing inexperienced individuals to
hold a position may be more detrimental than beneficial. For example, one of the most essential job
positions in the country that requires innumerable amounts of experience is that of the President of the
United States. Especially in this period of American political turmoil, the position of Presidency is on
the line. With an alarming amount of disagreeable candidates in the 2016 Presidential elections, it is
vital that the individual possesses experience in politics and in volunteer service. The office of the
American presidency is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He/she must aim to serve his term for the betterment of the country and its citizens. Though foreign
affairs, economic improvement, and domestic policies are essential in the President s agenda, a
concentration in the humanities is also just as important. A President experienced in extensive
volunteer service will be conscious of the numerous issues plaguing our country, such as poverty and
global warming, and will undoubtedly prioritize these problems to the same extent as the national
budget or health care reform. Likewise, the occupier of the Oval Office must be able to inspire others
to volunteer for the betterment of the nation and to do so, the President must also be an active
volunteer himself/herself. For example, President Herbert Hoover is acclaimed for his humanitarian
acts and yearning to be of service to others. His generosity to other countries in times of need has
certainly promoted the importance of community

Phase Autobiography
What are those? I asked my mom, walking through Toys R Us and pointing at a large box.
Those are Legos, you can put them together and build things, she responded.
I stared at them, repeating the name in my head. Legos. It was a funny name. They looked like
colorful bricks with holes in them. Can we get them? I asked. Sure enough, we were carrying a box of
them to the checkout section.
Crazy as it seemed, the small blocks mesmerized me as a kid. The different colors, sizes, shapes, all
were astounding. Blue, yellow, green, red, all the colors I had heard of were there. The way they could
stack up together, how they could seemingly transform into anything I wanted, was amazing to me. I
would sit on a Lego board that we had bought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We walked through the building toys section and I saw an amazing, 2005 piece Mega Blox™ Space
Shuttle. It was by far the largest Lego set I saw in a box. It was supposed to stretch 3 feet long, and it
could open up and have a telescope come out of it. it even had sound effects with different sayings
like, we re ready for takeoff. I had learned all this just by reading off the box at the store, and I knew I
just had to have it.

asking yourself. I don t want to buy you something that expensive unless I know you can finish it. Of
course I can, I m the best at Legos. I had no doubt of finishing it while we took it home. I got to work
right away, but I knew from the start that this was going to take much longer than any other Lego I
had done before. The pieces piled high and the instructions went on forever. It was the ultimate
challenge.
The ultimate challenge was a bit too challenging. I grew tired of building the shuttle, and soon gave up
on it. It was too long for me. This began the downfall of my addiction to Legos. Soon, I also began
getting tired of rebuilding the battleship over and over again, and the instructions for the rides of
Kaynex™ got lost when our basement flooded. Also, I wasn t allowed to get any new Lego sets until I
Finished the ones I had. I don t spend nearly as much time on Legos as I used to. Time that I used to

Shakespeare Sonnet 29 Mood
Shakespeare s Sonnet 29 explores the inner mentality of the speaker as he reflects on his hopeless state
of depression to eventually realize that there is something more important than monetary wealth and
social status. The speaker is introspective and reflective in order to convey his epiphany of the
importance of intangible things. Throughout the sonnet, meaning is achieved through the use of
rhythmic structure, changing tone, and imagery. In the first quatrain, iambic pentameter creates an
introductory rhythm to present the speaker in a depressed state. The speaker begins by stating he is in
disgrace with Fortune, meaning he is having bad luck and believes he is unpopular to men s eyes. This
allusion to Dame Fortuna, the goddess of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker uses the word yet to begin this shift into the solution to his internal frustrations. When the
speaker begins to haply think of thee, it serves as a pun for the word happy. Although this new thought
occurs by chance, it is a happy alternative for the saddening thoughts that once occupied his mind.
Shakespeare also uses a simile of a lark arising from sullen earth at the break of day, implying that the
daytime is much happier than night. The day is compared to the dawning thought of his beloved, and
the very idea is like a lark who sings hymns at heaven s gate. The simile uses imagery to create an
uplifting, hopeful tone. The shift in the speaker s thoughts is reflected in the tone, as it changes from
melancholy to optimistic. Similarly, the heroic couplet at the end serves as a resolution to the speaker s
inner conflictions with depression, for he has an epiphany that he would rather be with thee than to
change [his] state with kings. The speaker s remembrance of thy sweet love brings him to this
conclusion. The enjambment of the last two lines creates flow with the speaker s clear thoughts,
allowing him to determine the most important thing in life, rather than monetary wealth or status, with
an optimistic

a rough time buying their school clothes. uniforms cost too much. I found school uniform shoes for
70$! That is a lot of money. I found school uniform shirts for 70$(true). It is very expensive to buy
school clothing. I bought my school clothing for 5$ but i had to buy new pants and a lot of shirts that

family and we really need that money. All in all school clothing and uniforms can be very expensive.
Many students and parents believe that uniforms take away students right to express themselves.
Limits Expression,Reduces freedom. I understand that school uniforms reduce bullying. However,
uniforms in public schools are not a good idea. First, uniforms limit the freedom of expression, school
is supposed to be a place where ida s and thoughts flow freely. Second, uniforms can be expensive.
Short of getting corporate sponsors appropriate for schooling, parents would have to pay for the
uniforms which can be cost prohibitive for some families. I believe that school uniforms don t reduce
bullying. Anyway, some kids have to wear

Essay about Compassionate Care
The purpose of this essay is to look at barriers of compassion and what nurses could do overcome
these barriers. Three sub topics will be looked at over the course of this essay and a conclusion will be
made to evaluate these essays findings and to provide some input into battling these barriers so that
patients can receive high standards of patient care.
The definition of compassion in the oxford dictionary is sympathetic pity and concern for the suffering
or misfortunes of others . Oxford dictionary (2013) However senior lecturer Penny Harrison says there
is no accurate definition for compassion as it is a word that can be understood in different ways.

Compassionate care is a big talking point right now in the media and within the healthcare sector with
the Francis report being published earlier this year regarding the failings by Mid Staffordshire and
Scotland are now waiting for their own report to be issued regarding the failings at the Vale of Leven
in Dumbarton. The nursing and midwifery council have already started on some the imperative
changes to be made that the Francis report issued. The chief executive of the nursing and midwifery
council has said in her executive statement regarding the Francis report that they are to re examine the
current teaching that nurses receive and the professional standards. Smith, J. (Nursing and Midwifery
Council) all of these failings are all relate d to compassionate care. The people who died in these
hospitals were clearly not heard when they complained of feeling unwell and did not receive
compassionate care so why was this? Next to be discussed is compassion fatigue and how this may
reflect onto nursing practice in providing sufficient compassion.
Compassion fatigue is widely known in the health care profession. Nurses working overtime and long
working days to provide care for the patient and the patient s families are a continuous stress on a
nurse s emotional and physical well being especially if the nurse is providing the patient with end of
life care as this contributes to both physical and mental work. Vital

Trench Warfare In The Trenches
During World War I most of the fighting was done on land where it was solider versus solider and the
one who could withstand the pressure of the trenches the longest would win. Trench warfare was
completely accidental and the fighting was supposed to go as quick as possible where your troops
would be in and out then they could all go home; what ended up happening was one of the world s
longest stalemates where both sides dug in their boots and held their ground for as long as they could.
However many things changed trench warfare such as: no man s land, tanks, machine guns, gas,
grenades, and shelling. There were horrors far worse than the ones seen in the trenches though,
because between the trenches the lined there land and the enemies was a place known as no man s
land. No man s land was the stretch of land between one sides trenches and the others. This land is
described as the worst place to be if you were in the war. No man s land was full of dead bodies from
both sides as neither side was able to reach the bodies of their men; so there bodies just laid there
rotting and decomposing because no one was able to get their ... Show more content on

Machine guns were the first of their kind and were highly revolutionary; they were first used by the
Germans where they would line the trenches. Machine guns were operated by two people a gunner
and someone who would feed the bullets into the machine gun so it didn t stop firing. It was used to
repel soldiers that were pushing at their trenches and it could mow down a whole wave of infantry that
was pushing at you in seconds it was brutally efficient and soon every side in the war needed to have
one because it was the beat at mowing down troops. Machine guns made the stalemate last much
longer as eventually all sides had them and pushing would likely result in death for your side so
pushing the enemy line became far less

Marilyn Monroe Psychosocial Analysis Essay
This research paper presents a psychoanalytic analysis of Marilyn Monroe. Psychosocial development
includes two latter stages of Erikson s theory. Omnibus analysis discusses personality factors which
include the following: abilities, talents, and temperament, family members and cultural tradition,
sexual behavior, cognitive style, affect and impulses, motives, attitudes and impulses, and
relationships to principle figures. Erikson s later stages of psychosocial development included
intimacy versus isolation for the young adult, and generativity versus self absorption for the middle
adult. Marilyn Monroe failed to encounter true intimacy and she became isolated. The youth who is
not sure of her identity does not achieve interpersonal intimacy and is thrown into acts of intimacy that
are promiscuous and are without true fusion. Marilyn was unsure of who she was, actress was her only
identity. She maintained her isolation through a series of idealized and exhibitionistic relationships
(Erikson, 1968, pp. 135 137; Chessick, 1983, pp. 161 170). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Man needs to be cared for and to be needed. Marilyn remained focused on unmet needs for care. She
also failed at having children which reduced her chances of applying the generativity drive to her
offspring. Generativity also includes creativity and productivity; however, Marilyn s abilities remained
focused on self tendencies. When there is a failure to develop generativity, this leads to an expansion
of ego interests and a libidinal investment; regression to an obsessive need for pseudointimacy takes
place with a sense of boredom, stagnation, and impoverishment. Marilyn was described as appearing
bored and she demonstrated continual libidinal drive and pseudointimate relationships (Erikson, 1968,

Aircraft Carriers
Introduction The United States Navy calls its Nimitz class aircraft carriers 4.5 acres of sovereign and
mobile American territory and highlights their importance to American strategy by noting that an
aircraft carrier doesn t just launch aircraft it projects power . The aircraft carrier has an ability like no
other war vessel to deploy aircraft and serve as a base of operations for a wide variety of military
activities. As a result, the US Navy forms entire battlegroups or fleets around the use of these vessels
and regularly deploys them abroad to meet their strategic objectives. Given that air power is a
relatively recent development in the grand scheme of military history, the speed of contemporary
development in aircraft carriers is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first of which was the sinking of the HMS Courageous in 1939 by a German U boat. An old
aircraft carrier at the beginning of the war and a converted battlecruiser, the vessel was tasked with
providing escort to merchant ships by providing anti submarine protection in a convoy with other
destroyers to provide protection to the carrier. Despite this, a single German submarine was able to
successfully engage and sink the HMS Courageous, escaping without harm from the depth charge
wield escorts to report the success back to Germany. This highlighted two key strategic weaknesses of
aircraft carriers, the first being their need for anti submarine escort and their vulnerability to small,
relatively cheaper instruments of war. HMS Courageous was escorted by four destroyers who were
armed for anti submarine warfare who, in theory, should have been able to safely escort the vessel
from this very threat. Furthermore, aside from the resources tied up in escorting the carrier, the air
planes which were meant to excel in this field were equally ineffective in defending their own air base.
Shore based aircraft had the distinction advantage of being able to return to a relatively safe air base
that was very likely to be there when they returned, unlike carrier based aircraft. The advantage of

Gogri 10 Elizabeth Bowen: The Writings of War Jay Gogri Sr. Marlene Mucha, S.S.J British
Literature February 10, 2016 Elizabeth Bowen: The Writings of War What forces a person to write? It
could be feelings, situations, or even experiences. Writers such as George Orwell and Sylvia Plath
influenced the world with their writing. As a major writer in the Blitz era, Elizabeth Bowen wrote her
experiences in the war. Using the atmosphere and the surroundings as a source of her writing,
Elizabeth created many different novels and short stories that played on the emotions of the people.
One major short story, The Demon Lover, displayed the Blitz as a tool for devastation. Although
Elizabeth Bowen s The Demon Lover depicts a mysterious and eerie atmosphere full of ghosts, it also
portrays war as a destructive and catastrophic force. Born on June 7, 1899, Elizabeth Dorothea Cole
Bowen, formally known as Elizabeth Bowen, was a major British novelist and short story writer. The
year 1899 was, the eve of what has been called by many the century of total war.?[endnoteRef:1]
Bowen spent most of her childhood in Dublin. Her father, due to certain illnesses, died when she was
the age of seven. Similarly, her mother suffered a terrible death. Elizabeth then lived with her relatives
on the Kentish Coast. As a writer, she wanted to write about her feelings, the surrounding atmosphere,
and the perplexity of war. Elizabeth Bowen described war, ? . . . more as a

the farm that was visited during the summer exhibited the seven lenses. The farm that was visited over
the summer was located in Bethlehem, Connecticut. In 1912 Thomas Marchukaitis arrived from

vegetables, eggs, and milk. During the farm s peak in 1972, it had 100 cows, 600 chickens, apples,
peaches, cherries, plums, pears, and blueberries. For the ecology and the farm lens, March Farms tries

Clear Explainations of Visual Graphical Data in The Visual...
There are so many books written by well known professors and writers that are filled with information
about many things we do not know. I choose to read The Visual Display of Quantitative Information
by Edward Tufte because I found it really interesting. The first factor that makes me want to read this
book was the history behind writing this book. The writer stated in introduction part that the primary
focus of the book was to teach statistics of few journalists who were interested in learning Economic
concepts in the year of 1975 A.D which gave me a general idea that the book was written for novices,
which means that the information provided will be clear, understandable and it will contain a lots of
examples to make it clear. Being a finance major, I had and will have situations where I have to use
visual display of data many times, but I never got to go back and check the history how they were
originated, how the use of them transformed during the era of time and how the development of the
visual display has impacted in the modern business world. This book provided me a chance, which no
other books I have read, to see the significance of visual data, which was mostly introduced and
developed from 1750 1800.
The book was also really helpful in clarifying the terms and applications we studied in the classroom.

The Disconnection Between Aurora And Felicia
The character most important to me is Felicia, Aurora s mom, because she is like the earth that tries to

disconnection between Aurora and Felicia originates with the death of Alma. Alma dies, when it was
supposed to be Aurora the one that should have died. The only thing that saved her was not following
Felicia s orders, so she moved and didn t receive the bullet that killed Alma. After this event, Aurora

In chapter 8, the connection that is developed between her and Aurora shows that Aurora could come
back to Echo Park. Felicia s decision of giving her dog, Blackjack, to Aurora and making her accept
that it is her dog now, represents her accepting that Echo Park is her home. Through this act, Felicia s
intentions of making Aurora realize that Echo Park is part of her identity and her home is proven.
Therefore, when the dog escapes and gets lost, she sends Aurora to find it as if she sends her to realize
that Echo Park is her home. Through her journey of finding the dog, Aurora finds herself learning
what Echo Park has become from what she remembers. This shows that Felicia is the earth because
she never left Echo Park and she wanted her daughter to not leave it either. She wanted Aurora to not
forget where her real home is, which identifies her and makes her part of Echo Park too. I think Felicia
s character is important to the novel and the realization of Aurora towards Echo Park being her home.
I believe we need to remember from where we come and be proud of our roots because that is what
identifies us and makes us unique. It is not wrong to want to succeed in life like Aurora wanted to, but
we also need to know and accept ourselves, which includes our background and history. Our history is
what identifies us and makes us stand out from

The study Young Children s Color Preferences in the Interior Environment by Marilyn A. Read and

environments, in the case of child development centers. (Read Upington, 2009) Designs of these

young children are the observers of the centers environment, their colour preferences should be

second colour preference. The study states that only 41% of the boys chose purple as their last or

Yellow did not seem to be a preferred colour with either boys or girls. (Read Upington, 2009)
Read and Upington (2009) also saw that there was no significant age difference where the results were

Colonial Virginia Compare And Contrast
Massachusetts and Virginia, Different Beginnings With the colonization of the New World came
financial, religious, and strategic opportunities. England answered this call in various ways as British
colonies began with certain interests in mind. Massachusetts and Virginia, besides being started with
royal charters, were planted in separate locations, with unique resources, and by Englishmen with
entirely different intentions.
The beginning of two unique early American colonies starts with two very different charters. Virginia
began in 1606 as the Virginia Company; a combination of the London and Plymouth Companies. The
intent was to establish a working colony to extract riches from the New World in the form of natural
resources. The strongly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Slaves cost around three times as much to purchase as indentured servants. With a vastly shortened
life span in Virginia and the availability of indentures, slavery made little economic sense. Why would
a plantation owner pay for a lifetime of work he would never receive?
By contrast, Massachusetts Puritans objected to slavery on moral grounds, and strove to protect their
social enclaves and towns from any outsiders. Not only would slaves prove a changing force in New
England, they would disrupt the carefully crafted structure of free labor and the local church/town
system.
Early Virginia and Massachusetts differed greatly in their respective political positions as well. During
the early 1620s, Virginia remained unprofitable in the eyes of stockholders in Britain. In 1624 King
James I dissolved the London Company and Virginia became a royal colony. With the collapse of the
monarchy in Britain beginning in 1649, Virginia became a refuge for English Cavaliers. Virginian
governor William Berkeley and the Virginia Assembly even supported Charles II in opposition to the

Critically examine the geopolitics of humanitarian aid within the 21st century.
How have responses to famine changed over time and what are the key challenges to famine
prevention today?
Geopolitics have played a huge role in humanitarian aid in the current century. Because humanitarian
aid is largely sponsored by western countries it poses a huge problem in the form of a parochial form
of theorizing 1 that supports the interests of the richest countries of the world. For the purpose of this
essay I will begin by examining the problems that have arisen in the most recent years of humanitarian
aid assistance. This arises from conditional aid, whereby donor countries or organizations impose
conditions in order for recipient countries to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In cases such as Iraq and Afghanistan the United States military assumed a huge role for the
distribution of disaster and humanitarian assistance alongside their military objectives. If foreign
militaries are carrying out humanitarian aid alongside military objectives, then there is no way that aid
can be supplied to whoever is in need in ways that are impartial, neutral and independent. This new
system whereby foreign militaries are responsible for supplying aid has created huge security
problems for not only the military, but for the people who are receiving aid. Opposing factions to
foreign military time and time again in Afghanistan and Iraq have targeted civilians receiving aid to
further their own agenda. 7
These are the problems that exist in the humanitarian aid industry today, but these problems have
developed over a course of many years and responses to famine and humanitarian disasters have
evolved over time. Thirty years ago disaster relief and humanitarian aid were not considered to be of
huge significance on a geopolitical scale. During the 70 s and 80 s although humanitarian crisis
existed, the geopolitics was more focused on the cold war and respecting the sovereignty of nation
states. Although crisis in Africa, East Pakistan and Guatemala (to name a few) were made aware

In some situations female workers earn more than their male counterparts in areas that lack women as
workers (McGregor). As stated previously, the wage gap is a result of choices women have made in
their careers, either to take time off to care for children, or just accepting more benefits as
compensation. The only way the wage gap would be considerably linked to inequality would be if
women and men worked the same hours with the same benefits offered. There is simply too many
variables for the claim of a wage gap to be reasonable ( The Wage Gap ). As for women being targeted
for sexual assault, that is true, but for valid reasons. Those who would target males for sexual assault
would be males and females who are attracted to men. Male aggression is linked to presence of
testosterone, which women have less of (cite medicalnews). As a result, women are less likely to be
aggressors, lowering the likelihood of a woman sexually assaulting an individual. A man can also
assault a man, but 95% of men consider themselves straight (cite livescience). The amount of those
who would act sexually aggressive towards men is so low in comparison to those who would towards
women that logically the statistics make sense. Crimes are not committed to target women they re

American History X Vs Gran Torino
At some point in their life nearly every single American has witnessed or been a part of any degree of
racism. While most people hide in the shadows while trying to ignore racism and its harmful effects,
there are a few people, like Tony Kaye, who are courageous and bold enough challenge the norm and
speak out and stand up for those who are in pain. In 1998 Tony Kaye directed American History X, a
movie that directly shows the impacts that racism has on everyone, no matter what side of it you are

American History X is most easily comparable to the 2008 movie Gran Torino, directed by and
starring Clint Eastwood. Both movies explore the meanings of racism and that by showing just a
moment of compassion, our perception of others changes dramatically. Each movie includes numerous
amounts nudity, sexual situations, with an even greater amount of profanity. According to one count,
the final cut of American History X includes 205 uses of the F word, or about one use every 35
seconds (Susman) while Gran Torino also uses foul language nearly 126 times (Asay). In American
History X, Gran Tornio, and The Incredible Hulk, the view has a love hate relationship with each of
the main characters. Each leading role portrays both the hero and villain of the movie, in all three
examples the viewer grows to admire the hero even though they still hate the villain the main
character sporadically becomes, but maybe this is why a majority of people respect and appreciate
these characters.
While many critics admire Tony Kaye s boldness, others believe that American History X was not
effective and has gone too far in trying to teach a lesson in racism. Angeliki Coconi believes that while
offering this valuable American History lesson on screen, a number of racist crimes are committed, a
series of racist remarks are made and plenty of disturbing narrow mindedness becomes evident, in
other words the movie was far too severe. Others also believe that the film is much too violent and the

Literature Review Of High Flow Nasal Cannula
Literature Review High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy has become a safe, useful therapy in
many types of patients with respiratory failure, improving oxygenation and comfort levels. Oxygen
therapy is the main treatment for hypoxemic respiratory failure and has been delivered via nasal
prongs or masks. The maximum flow rates that these devices can deliver are limited due to the
insufficient heat and humidity provided to the gas that s being administered. It s accepted that flow
rates up to 15 L/min can be delivered using conventional nasal prongs or masks, and even high flow
tubing, but this flow is far lower than the inspiratory flow of a patient with acute respiratory failure.
Room air dilutes the supplemental oxygen, resulting in a significant decrease in the fraction of the
inspired oxygen (FIO2) that finally reaches the air sacks in the lungs, called alveoli. Many different
HFNC devices are available, but the technique always involves the delivery of a totally conditioned
(37 °C containing 44 mg H2O/L [100 % relative humidity]) gas admixture via a wide bore and soft
nasal prong up to 60 L/min, with a fraction of inspired oxygen ranging from 0.21 to 1 (21% to 100%).
(Roca, 2016). HFNC oxygen therapy is a very effective modality for the early treatment of adults with
respiratory failure with diverse underlying diseases.
Physiological effect High flow with optimally heated and humidified gas is thought to have a variety
of physiological effects. Gas from an

Jesus Miraculous Birth, The Gospel Of Mark Essay
Though Mark is the shortest of the four gospels, it seems to be the most action packed of them all.
Mark also tells the events in more of a chronological order than the other gospels. Skipping the story
of Jesus miraculous birth, the gospel of Mark begins with verse one proclaiming that Jesus Christ is
the Son of God, then continues straight to John the Baptist preaching and preparing the people for the
coming of the Messiah. Only nine verses into the opening chapter, Jesus enters the scene. He is
coming to be baptized by John. After coming up out of the water, the heavens are opened. In Mark
1:11, God speaks from heaven saying, this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Here we
learn from the Father himself that Jesus of Nazareth is truly the Son of God. Jesus soon goes on to call
his disciples and begins teaching with authority. People quickly hear about Jesus message, his
miracles, and who he claims to be. In Mark 1:23, Jesus confronts a man with an unclean spirit. Mark
1:24 says, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to
destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. Again, in Mark 3:11 unclean spirits fall
before him and say, Thou art the Son of God ; and in Mark 5:7 they call him Jesus, Son of the most
high God. Even the demons know who Jesus is and they fear him. As Jesus continues to gain
popularity among the people, he is given many other titles. In Mark 6:3 the people of Nazareth call

Competitive Strategy Southwest Airlines
The domestic US airline industry has been intensely competitive since it was
deregulated in 1978. In a regulated environment, most of the cost increases were
passed along to consumers under a fixed rate of return based pricing scheme. This
allowed labor unions to acquire a lot of power and workers at the major incumbent
carriers were overpaid.
After deregulation, the incumbent carriers felt the most pain, and the floodgates had
opened for newer more nimble carriers with lower cost structures to compete head on
with the established airlines. There were several bankruptcies followed by a wave of
consolidation with the fittest carriers surviving and the rest being acquired or going out of
business.
Analysis of the airline industry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main consideration for
profitable entry seemed to be the ability of airlines to fill their airplanes above the breakeven
point. In an industry fraught with price competition, brand identity and reputation
did not have significant value either.
In the airline industry, exit costs are not very high either. Planes could be easily redeployed
to other markets, or sold off, and gates and landing rights could be sub leased
to other carriers.
Substitutes
There are a number of substitutes to air travel, especially over short distances. These
include taking other modes of transportation such as driving, taking the train etc., or not
traveling at all. The use of technology (like WebEx, NetMeeting, video conferencing etc.)
that facilitates remote virtual collaboration is becoming a good substitute for business air
travel as well.
Supplier Power
The primary inputs to the airline industry include airplanes, labor and fuel. There are only
two major manufacturers (three at the time of the case Boeing, Airbus and McDonnell
Douglas) for large commercial aircraft. This, along with the relationship specific
investment that the airlines make in the form of trained mechanics, existing stock of
aircraft etc., is likely to give the aircraft manufacturers some supplier power. A mitigating
factor for this supplier

Chinese New Year The Chinese New Year, or the Lunar New Year as it s called on other Asia
countries, is a very important celebration in China. The Chinese New Year is the fifteenth day of the
lunisolar calendar; this calendar method is based on the moons orbiting around the earth, while our
calendar is based on the earth orbiting around the sun. The Lunar New Year falls on the first new
moon between January twenty first and February twentieth . It has been a tradition for centuries that it
began back in the fourteenth century B.C. The mythology behind the Chinese New Year is that it
started with a beast called Nian that was menacing the village, so the villagers put food in front their
houses to try to stop Nian from eating the villagers. The myth says that someone wanted to confront
and take revenge on Nian so a god told him to put red outside their doors and to set off firecrackers.
They saw that Nian was scared of the color red and the firecrackers, so every time when the New Year
came they would do this to keep Nian away. From then on it never came back to the village, and this
started a tradition. This holiday is a time to honor the family and ancestors. The household is the
primary focus of this celebration; it s a time for cleansing and for bringing the family together.

and will do what is asked of them solely because they respect the coach and don t want to let him or

The Qing Dynasty Ruled China Essay
Often referred to as the Last Great Dynasty, The Qing Dynasty ruled China for over three centuries.
The Qing were a proud dynasty and relied little upon foreign trade and influences to grow their
economy. This was partly because The Qing were a self sufficient society. Another reason for the
denial of Western influences was due to The Qing s great pride of their own culture. Any acceptance
of Western influences would dilute the values and traditions of The Qing. That being said, The Qing
did allow a trivial amount of foreign trade to take place in the Port of Canton. The refusal to allow
Western influences, the lack of knowledge of the importance of foreign relations and the continued
reliance of Confucian teachings all played a part in the demise of The Qing Dynasty. The
modernization of China would not be possible without the rebellion of 1911. The failure to realize the
importance of foreign relationships cannot be overlooked when it comes to the fall of The Qing
Dynasty. King George III of Britain, in an attempt to convince Qian Long to allow the British access
to other ports of trade, along with a few other requests, sent Lord Macartney to China. These requests
were extraordinary in the eyes of Qian Long and were ultimately denied. Lord Macartney failed on his
mission to petition Qian Long to open more ports for transactions. This is in no doubt the fault of both
parties, due to lack of foreign policy. However, it could be argued that more blame could be

Purpose Of A Political Party
The purpose of a political party is to WIN the governing office. The United States has only two major
parties that are eligible to be voted into the president s position. Why is there only two dominant
parties? Shouldn t there be more options for American citizens? Two main political parties alone seem
to dominate the American political system. Although, no one can stop a third party from joining a
presidential race the support from the plurality system. It can usually ruin its chances of winning.
Third parties may have statistically significant support (maybe 15 percent of voters in every district
supports a third party). Will this ever change? In fact, since 1852, a candidate from the Republican or
a Democratic parties has placed either

Advantages Of Recycling Plastic
Science Fair Research Paper
Zachariah Alzubi and Yosef Ismael
Best Methods of Recycling Plastics
Recycling has grown rapidly over these past few decades. Almost every single household in America
has a recycling bin. You can find recycling bins anywhere like in your school or at a dumpster nearby
and I m sure there are plenty at home. You can almost recycle anything from glass, to Styrofoam, and
especially plastic. There are many things around your house that are probably made of plastic, if you
re just drinking a water bottle and you finish it toss it in the recycling bin instead of wasting it in the
garbage. You never know, you might end up using that same water bottle again in the future.
Recycling plastics doesn t only benefit the wellbeing of earth itself it also benefits consumers so they
can have a wide range of products made from plastic recycling like the utensils you eat with or any
kitchen gadgets or even your dinner table at home. Recycling plastic began in 1972 in Conshohocken,
Pa. They had the first mill to accept residential plastics and began their operations there. Then in the
1980s many U.S citizens began curbside collection programs in which they recycled plastics and other
materials that could be recycled. In 1984 is where recycling really started to expand they had topped
over 100 million pounds in recycled plastic for the first time in US history and from their they
continued to expand and the number in recycled plastic increased and is still increasing

Management Functions And Functions Of Management Essay
Assessing Management Functions
List the four functions of management and provide an overview of their purpose for the organization.
The four functions of management are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The planning
function establishes a way to attain the desired objectives, resolve issues and facilitate action. The
purpose of the planning function is to align the vision, culture, employees and the organizational
structure with the strategies, and this involves multiple levels across the organization. Ultimately,
planning is a needed function for business success (Huff 2009).
The leading function of management assists the managers in administering and overseeing the
performances of the staff. Leading allows management to give help to the employees by guiding them
towards achievement of the organization s goals and also pursuit of their personal and career goals
(Fontaine).
The purpose of the organizing function of management is to identify the best people, design a
structure and provide the needed resources to ensure the success of the organizational plans. The
controlling function of management focuses on the specific tasks of overseeing work pertaining to
company standards and rewarding superior performances. This is one of the tools I/O consultants can
use to devise a system that will identify, support, measure, assess, enhance, and reward employee
performance (Argosy University Online, 2016).

David Jaffee s Thinking Visually As Historians
In reading Ways of Seeing, I found David Jaffe s and Peter Felten s projects/assignments to be
compelling and intriguing. Jaffee in Thinking Visually as Historians tried to make his students
interpret and analyze specific historical visuals, however, some students demonstrated difficulty
integrating their visual readings with contextual historical understanding. He decided to take a
pedagogical turn by watching his students look, pay attention to the steps they took to analyze visuals,
as a way to understand historical problems and master their use of sources. Through the use of a
scaffolding method, Jaffee created an online miniarchive, selecting a few document sources that could
enhance student visuals (portraits) and help them keep the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Felten taught a US history course focusing on the 1960s in which students envisioned a Forrest Gump
narrative of the decade. To confront this, Felten designed an exercise to confront student s beliefs
about the 1960s. He gave his students on the first day of class ten primary sources from the 1960s and
asked them in pairs of students to put the sources in chronological order and to explain why they
placed each source where they did. As students began to discuss each source, they began to notice and
see the gaps in Forrest Gump narrative. Students started realizing the 1960s was more complicated
and disrupted their knowledge and beliefs of the decade. This source sequencing exercise continued
over the course of the semester, as students practiced making historical sense of complex sources,
including images and films. Nevertheless, I found Felten s exercise useful because students learn how
to view visuals that help them confront their deeply held beliefs in particular historical narratives and
learn how to analyze the nature of any source from moving images to the analysis of a still

Expectation Of Privacy Research Paper
Reasonable expectation of privacy is an issue dealing with the Fourth Amendment of the Coalesced
States Constitution. In the constitution the Fourth Amendment kenned as The right of the people to be
secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against adamant searches and seizures, shall not be
breached, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, fortified by Oath or affirmation, and
concretely describing the place to be probed, and the persons or things to be seized. Expectation of
privacy is defined as the credence in the ease of liberation from unwanted governmental intrusion of
personal property, house, or persons. Prospect of privacy is homogeneous but not identically

Regime forces can retrieve this information and utilize it in a tribulation if needed. E mails, e mail
addresses, IP addresses, and websites are all recorded and could be probed. Today, the Federal courts
accede that the sender of an electronic mail has an objectively plausible prospect of privacy in the
content of a message while it is in transmission. In 1967 Charles Katz was utilizing a public telephone
booth to transfer illicit wagering wager from Los Angeles to Boston and Miami. Incognizant, Katz s
conversations were being recorded by the FBI utilizing an eavesdropping contrivance annexed to the
exterior of the phone booth . Katz was endeavored and convicted because of the recordings. He fought
back with the argument, that the recordings were amassed in a manner breaching his Fourth
Amendment. The court ruled in favor of the FBI because there was no physical intrusion into the
telephone booth. This case was ruled as a certiorari, which is when a higher court makes a decision,
most of the time lower courts will makes it decision similarly to what the higher court has ruled (the
higher court sets the bar). The court ruled in favor of Katz, 7 1. Because it was a private conversation
in a public place, there must be a search warrant. It was verbalized that a booth is like a domicile
where one can do what they delectate without the world kenning. After this case, it was

Drive In Theatre History
June 6, 2008 the flag flying over the U.S. Capitol commemorated the 75th birthday of a distinctive
slice of Americana: the drive in movie theater.
It was on that day in 1933 that Richard Hollingshead opened the first theater for the auto bound in
Camden, N.J. People paid 25 cents per car as well as per person to see the British comedy Wives
Beware under the stars.
The concept of showing movies outdoors wasn t novel; people often watched silent films on screens
set up at beaches or other places boasting an abundance of sky. However, it took an auto parts
salesman such as Hollingshead to see the genius in giving a car loving society one more activity they
could do in their vehicles.
He first conceived the drive in as the answer to a problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Digital cinema will be both an opportunity and a threat for drive in owners, said the association s
director of media and research Patrick Corcoran in an e mail. An opportunity because digital will
allow them to get new movies sooner than they do they are often weeks behind the break for new
films. It s a threat in that the digital transition will be expensive to manage, and some may not be able
to do it.
Kopp of course bets on the drive ins survival. In 2005, he and his wife bought the Raleigh Road
Outdoor Theatre in Henderson, N.C., for $22,000 on eBay. He said they ve invested about $300,000
since to clear the seven acres of weeds and modernize the technology. Today the theatre can
accommodate 265 cars and show movies in a 60 foot by 80 foot screen. The sound comes through car
radios.
Film fare of the Raleigh Road and other drive ins typically consists of G rated films, Kopp said.
Disney movies thrive, as do animated films.

The Curious Incident Of The Dog In Night-Time
Christopher says, ... and that made me feel better because everything had an order and a plan (Haddon
181). The Curious Incident of the Dog in Night Time is in the point of view of a teenage boy who
suffers from a disorder named Christopher. The story through Christopher s eyes is not a typical point
of view. Haddon makes use of stream of consciousness when Christopher s storytelling strays from his
original point into a point that he believes is of equal importance. The first person perspective is a tool
to demonstrate the order and planning that goes on in Christopher s mind. The style displayed

One goal is to expose children to reading, and the other goal is to help the children visualize what is
trying to be expressed in the book through the illustrations or pictures. Analogously, The Curious
Incident of the Dog in Night Time uses picture to help the reader visualize important aspects of the
book. For many adults, they think that pictures in a book are silly, but in this case it adds to the
disorder of this novel. Christopher explains, ... Mrs. Peters cuts round the picture with a Stanley knife
and then you put ink on the lino and press it onto the paper, which is why all the cars looked the same,
because I did one car and pressed it onto the paper 9 times (Haddon 27). Does the reader really need to
know the specific details of Christopher s card to his mother? Probably not, but it helps characterize
Christopher and show how his brain works. Many people may say that the picture takes away from the
order of the book, but it adds detail to the book instead. Another time Christopher uses a diagram is
when he is in the train station. Christopher describes his surroundings, But the train station in Swindon
wasn t like that. It was a tunnel and some stairs, and a shop and café and a waiting room like this
(Haddon 144). Immediately following this description was a map of the train station. Christopher s
autism is what causes him to visualize the map in his head. Lots of people would think it is imbecilic
to create a map like that in their heads. On the contrary, it is an advantage to have a map of your
surroundings because it may help in a time of terror. People who are unable to create a map in their
head are at a disadvantage, so they have the real disorder. Pictures and diagrams are a good; they keep

Analysis Of Judy Barron s There s A Boy
Sheila Mitta Autism COC 633 Professor Weill Spring 2015 There s a Boy in Here Emerging from the
Bonds of Autism By: Judy Barron, Sean Barron There s a Boy in Here is a novel written by Judy
Barron and her son, Sean Barron. Together, they talk about the effects that autism had on Sean and his
family. Judy narrates most of the story while Sean describes his battles faced from autism, from his
point of view. Sean s interpretations of his strange and repetitive behaviors are different from how his
parents interpret them. After Sean was born, he cried continuously. Being fed, having his diaper
changed, or being held did not soothe him. As Sean grew older, he began to exhibit bizarre behaviors.

His parents tried to play, read, and have a conversation with him but Sean was never interested. His
parents turned to screaming and spanking as there only option, however, Sean never understood the
consequences of his actions and never thought he was doing wrong. When Sean was over two years of
age, he still had not begun to babble or even utter a word. Finally, one day Sean and his family went to
the bakery and he began to utter a series of numbers, Eleven sixteen thirty (p. 27). This is when his
parents realized that he did have some words in his vocabulary, however, all he said was numbers and
they wondered if he would say something else. During the summer, Sean would say how deep the
water was when swimming in the pool. He would pop up and down from the water chanting, five one,
five three (p. 77). Sean slowly learned to speak, however, he used incorrect syntax and spoke in third
person saying things such as Her bad girl, and He want water right now (p. 80). Judy stated that Sean
never used language to communicate feelings, thoughts, or problems (p. 103) and he would ask the
same questions over and over again. Sean also faced several sensory issues. When he was a baby, he
squirmed and twisted uncomfortably trying to break through his mother s arms as if he felt that he was
trapped (p. 8). He also hated walking around with bare feet and when did he would tuck his toes

Importance Of Reflection In Writing
I have made a phenomenal amount of progress this semester. English 101 has made me a better writer
and editor. Because the modules and peer editing reviews it was easy to correct and learn from my
mistakes. As a writer, I think I can still make an amount of improvement. With it being from mechanic
errors and to clear organization skills. As for providing clear and relevant examples I have made
improvements. I say I m an average, but growing writer. I have my skills and weakness, but I still try
harder. When I first came to English 101 I thought I had it down packed. In high school, I took AP Lit,
a advanced placement English class. AP Lit offered a college level course, teaching us high school
students college curricular. But when I received my first assignment, I hesitated, not knowing what to
write. Then modules were introduced, making it better to reflect on. Constantly I relied on modules
and notes, which helped me improve in my writing, in result giving me better feedback. As I progress
along the semester, my final paper grades have improved. From starting on my political analysis
project to finishing my argumentative essay. My political analysis paper ended with a 70%. The 70%
is from the lack of transition and the lack of specific audiences. Also analyzing my information and
relating back to my thesis. My last assignment, my argumentative essay ended with a 90%. In my
argumentative essay I had a acceptable analysis and did great relating back to the

Lane Bryant s Self-Concept Of Body Image
Self concept is the belief an individual has about his or her own attributes and how he or she evaluates
their self on these attributes such as content, positivity, intensity and stability, and accuracy (Solomon,
2011). Since more women are more accepting of their body, Lane Bryant made women feel more
confident about their body. Lane Bryant uses the self concept of body image and how a woman views
her body. Plus sized women often feel ignored and some department stores fail to have more of a
variety of clothes for them (Johnson, Lennon, Rudd, 2014). Lane Bryant delivers fashion to these
women by complimenting and showing value. Typically, if a woman is more positive and accepting of

  • 2. Saul Hudson Saul Hudson was born to an African American mother and British father in London on July 23, 1965 and even though he was born in London he was raised for most of his life in Los Angeles, California. Saul was given the nickname Slash , by a family friend because he was very energetic and constantly in motion growing up. He is now known as slash by everyone, and he says that the only two people that call him by his first real name are, his mom and his doctor. Slash learned to play the guitar as a teenager with Robert Wolin, a teacher at Fairfax Music School but he soon lost interest in schoolwork and took up BMX racing, later he became more interested in playing the guitar and gave up his biking. In 1981, he joined his first band, known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Slash has played solos with a couple of famous artists, such as Michael Jackson in his Billy Jean concert. In 1985 he joined Guns N Roses, and played with them until 1996 but is coming to perform with them this year in El Paso. Velvet Revolver, was another band he played in. Hollywood Rose is another band he played guitar with, which also included Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin. But overall his first band was the Tidus Sloan band. Slash always uses Gibson Les Paul guitars of various colors, with very few exceptions, his first guitar was a 1970/80s Memphis Les Paul, he started moving on to funky looking guitars such as the 1978/79 B.C. Rich Mockingbird and the B.C. Rich Warlock, after using a couple of non Gibson guitars he moved on and used for the most part, Gibson guitars, his coolest one to me would be the 1967 Gibson EDS 1275 which looks like two guitars in one, he owns two of these I believe. • 3. Direct Oxidation Of Methanol Lab Report Proposed Mechanisms for the Direct Oxidation of Methane to Methanol The oxidation of CH4 usually progresses to C02 and H20 because the intermediates are a series of highly reactive radical reactions and this makes partial oxidation of CH3 into CH3OH very hard. In addition, CH3OH oxidizes faster than CH4 and requires less energy for its oxidation. Industrial attempts to synthesize methanol from methane is usually done indirectly since the direct methods have low methanol specificity and yield. Current industrial methods for producing methanol involve making synthesis gas from methane and then catalytically converting it to methanol. Several methods are used such as steam reforming, and dry reforming. These methods require high temperature of about 800°C, the reactions are endothermic requiring lot of energy. The end product of the reactions also requires intensive purification from impurities such as sulfur and other compounds. Finding feasible mechanisms for oxidation of methane to methanol cannot be over emphasized because of the uses of methanol such as production of other chemicals like formaldehyde, acetic acid, for extraction of sulfur and most importantly as an alternative to fossil fuels. Due to the severe reaction conditions, energy intensive, and less efficient means of partial oxidative production of methanol, ways of directly oxidizing methane to methanol are being investigated. Some of the methods that have been researched are high pressure oxidation of methane in a flow system, catalytic oxidation with copper, and gas phase homogenous oxidation where the reactors have no stainless steel and products are prevented from contacting the wall of the reactor to improve methanol selectivity and yield. Also, introduction of strong oxidants like N20 was explored, however, strong oxidants are very expensive and so not feasible for industrial use. Recent research, however, uses Methane Monooxygenases as a model. Methane Monooxygenases are oxidoreductase enzymes commonly found in methanotropic bacteria. One of the most studied methanotropic bacteria is Methylococcus capsulatus. It converts methane to methanol then methanol to formaldehyde and formaldehyde to formate and carbon dioxide which is used energy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance Of Presidency Everyone is familiar with the paradox in which qualified graduates fresh out of college apply for a job but is unfortunately denied because they lack the experience. Yet how can they gain experience for a position if no one will hire them? In this situation, it may be more prolific to hire qualified individuals despite their lack of job experience. However, in some cases allowing inexperienced individuals to hold a position may be more detrimental than beneficial. For example, one of the most essential job positions in the country that requires innumerable amounts of experience is that of the President of the United States. Especially in this period of American political turmoil, the position of Presidency is on the line. With an alarming amount of disagreeable candidates in the 2016 Presidential elections, it is vital that the individual possesses experience in politics and in volunteer service. Though foreign affairs, economic improvement, and domestic policies are essential in the President s agenda, a concentration in the humanities is also just as important. A President experienced in extensive volunteer service will be conscious of the numerous issues plaguing our country, such as poverty and global warming, and will undoubtedly prioritize these problems to the same extent as the national budget or health care reform. Likewise, the occupier of the Oval Office must be able to inspire others to volunteer for the betterment of the nation and to do so, the President must also be an active volunteer himself/herself. For example, President Herbert Hoover is acclaimed for his humanitarian acts and yearning to be of service to others. His generosity to other countries in times of need has certainly promoted the importance of community ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I stared at them, repeating the name in my head. Legos. It was a funny name. They looked like colorful bricks with holes in them. Can we get them? I asked. Sure enough, we were carrying a box of them to the checkout section. Crazy as it seemed, the small blocks mesmerized me as a kid. The different colors, sizes, shapes, all were astounding. That is what you should be asking yourself. I don t want to buy you something that expensive unless I know you can finish it. Of course I can, I m the best at Legos. I had no doubt of finishing it while we took it home. I got to work right away, but I knew from the start that this was going to take much longer than any other Lego I had done before. The pieces piled high and the instructions went on forever. It was the ultimate challenge. The ultimate challenge was a bit too challenging. I grew tired of building the shuttle, and soon gave up on it. It was too long for me. This began the downfall of my addiction to Legos. Soon, I also began getting tired of rebuilding the battleship over and over again, and the instructions for the rides of Kaynex™ got lost when our basement flooded. • 6. Shakespeare Sonnet 29 Mood Shakespeare s Sonnet 29 explores the inner mentality of the speaker as he reflects on his hopeless state of depression to eventually realize that there is something more important than monetary wealth and social status. The speaker is introspective and reflective in order to convey his epiphany of the importance of intangible things. Throughout the sonnet, meaning is achieved through the use of rhythmic structure, changing tone, and imagery. In the first quatrain, iambic pentameter creates an introductory rhythm to present the speaker in a depressed state. The speaker begins by stating he is in disgrace with Fortune, meaning he is having bad luck and believes he is unpopular to men s eyes. This allusion to Dame Fortuna, the goddess of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The speaker uses the word yet to begin this shift into the solution to his internal frustrations. When the speaker begins to haply think of thee, it serves as a pun for the word happy. Although this new thought occurs by chance, it is a happy alternative for the saddening thoughts that once occupied his mind. Shakespeare also uses a simile of a lark arising from sullen earth at the break of day, implying that the daytime is much happier than night. The day is compared to the dawning thought of his beloved, and the very idea is like a lark who sings hymns at heaven s gate. The simile uses imagery to create an uplifting, hopeful tone. The shift in the speaker s thoughts is reflected in the tone, as it changes from melancholy to optimistic. Similarly, the heroic couplet at the end serves as a resolution to the speaker s inner conflictions with depression, for he has an epiphany that he would rather be with thee than to change [his] state with kings. The speaker s remembrance of thy sweet love brings him to this conclusion. The enjambment of the last two lines creates flow with the speaker s clear thoughts, allowing him to determine the most important thing in life, rather than monetary wealth or status, with an optimistic ... However, uniforms in public schools are not a good idea. First, uniforms limit the freedom of expression, school is supposed to be a place where ida s and thoughts flow freely. Three sub topics will be looked at over the course of this essay and a conclusion will be made to evaluate these essays findings and to provide some input into battling these barriers so that patients can receive high standards of patient care. The definition of compassion in the oxford dictionary is sympathetic pity and concern for the suffering or misfortunes of others . The nursing and midwifery council have already started on some the imperative changes to be made that the Francis report issued. The chief executive of the nursing and midwifery council has said in her executive statement regarding the Francis report that they are to re examine the current teaching that nurses receive and the professional standards. Smith, J. (Nursing and Midwifery Council) all of these failings are all relate d to compassionate care. The people who died in these hospitals were clearly not heard when they complained of feeling unwell and did not receive compassionate care so why was this? Next to be discussed is compassion fatigue and how this may reflect onto nursing practice in providing sufficient compassion. Compassion fatigue is widely known in the health care profession. Nurses working overtime and long working days to provide care for the patient and the patient s families are a continuous stress on a nurse s emotional and physical well being especially if the nurse is providing the patient with end of life care as this contributes to both physical and mental work. Trench Warfare In The Trenches During World War I most of the fighting was done on land where it was solider versus solider and the one who could withstand the pressure of the trenches the longest would win. Trench warfare was completely accidental and the fighting was supposed to go as quick as possible where your troops would be in and out then they could all go home; what ended up happening was one of the world s longest stalemates where both sides dug in their boots and held their ground for as long as they could. However many things changed trench warfare such as: no man s land, tanks, machine guns, gas, grenades, and shelling. There were horrors far worse than the ones seen in the trenches though, because between the trenches the lined there land and the enemies was a place known as no man s land. No man s land was the stretch of land between one sides trenches and the others. This land is described as the worst place to be if you were in the war. Omnibus analysis discusses personality factors which include the following: abilities, talents, and temperament, family members and cultural tradition, sexual behavior, cognitive style, affect and impulses, motives, attitudes and impulses, and relationships to principle figures. Erikson s later stages of psychosocial development included intimacy versus isolation for the young adult, and generativity versus self absorption for the middle adult. Marilyn Monroe failed to encounter true intimacy and she became isolated. The youth who is not sure of her identity does not achieve interpersonal intimacy and is thrown into acts of intimacy that are promiscuous and are without true fusion. Marilyn was unsure of who she was, actress was her only identity. Despite this, a single German submarine was able to successfully engage and sink the HMS Courageous, escaping without harm from the depth charge wield escorts to report the success back to Germany. This highlighted two key strategic weaknesses of aircraft carriers, the first being their need for anti submarine escort and their vulnerability to small, relatively cheaper instruments of war. HMS Courageous was escorted by four destroyers who were armed for anti submarine warfare who, in theory, should have been able to safely escort the vessel from this very threat. Furthermore, aside from the resources tied up in escorting the carrier, the air planes which were meant to excel in this field were equally ineffective in defending their own air base. Shore based aircraft had the distinction advantage of being able to return to a relatively safe air base that was very likely to be there when they returned, unlike carrier based aircraft. It could be feelings, situations, or even experiences. Writers such as George Orwell and Sylvia Plath influenced the world with their writing. As a major writer in the Blitz era, Elizabeth Bowen wrote her experiences in the war. Using the atmosphere and the surroundings as a source of her writing, Elizabeth created many different novels and short stories that played on the emotions of the people. One major short story, The Demon Lover, displayed the Blitz as a tool for devastation. Although Elizabeth Bowen s The Demon Lover depicts a mysterious and eerie atmosphere full of ghosts, it also portrays war as a destructive and catastrophic force. There are so many books written by well known professors and writers that are filled with information about many things we do not know. I choose to read The Visual Display of Quantitative Information by Edward Tufte because I found it really interesting. The first factor that makes me want to read this book was the history behind writing this book. The writer stated in introduction part that the primary focus of the book was to teach statistics of few journalists who were interested in learning Economic concepts in the year of 1975 A.D which gave me a general idea that the book was written for novices, which means that the information provided will be clear, understandable and it will contain a lots of examples to make it clear. Being a finance major, I had and will have situations where I have to use visual display of data many times, but I never got to go back and check the history how they were originated, how the use of them transformed during the era of time and how the development of the visual display has impacted in the modern business world. This book provided me a chance, which no other books I have read, to see the significance of visual data, which was mostly introduced and developed from 1750 1800. She wanted Aurora to not forget where her real home is, which identifies her and makes her part of Echo Park too. Literature Review Of High Flow Nasal Cannula Literature Review High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy has become a safe, useful therapy in many types of patients with respiratory failure, improving oxygenation and comfort levels. Oxygen therapy is the main treatment for hypoxemic respiratory failure and has been delivered via nasal prongs or masks. The maximum flow rates that these devices can deliver are limited due to the insufficient heat and humidity provided to the gas that s being administered. It s accepted that flow rates up to 15 L/min can be delivered using conventional nasal prongs or masks, and even high flow tubing, but this flow is far lower than the inspiratory flow of a patient with acute respiratory failure. Room air dilutes the supplemental oxygen, resulting in a significant decrease in the fraction of the inspired oxygen (FIO2) that finally reaches the air sacks in the lungs, called alveoli. Many different HFNC devices are available, but the technique always involves the delivery of a totally conditioned (37 °C containing 44 mg H2O/L [100 % relative humidity]) gas admixture via a wide bore and soft nasal prong up to 60 L/min, with a fraction of inspired oxygen ranging from 0.21 to 1 (21% to 100%). Chin Chinese New Year Elyeth Buchanan Music 009 Dr. Howard 2/23/16 Chinese New Year The Chinese New Year, or the Lunar New Year as it s called on other Asia countries, is a very important celebration in China. The Chinese New Year is the fifteenth day of the lunisolar calendar; this calendar method is based on the moons orbiting around the earth, while our calendar is based on the earth orbiting around the sun. The Lunar New Year falls on the first new moon between January twenty first and February twentieth . It has been a tradition for centuries that it began back in the fourteenth century B.C. The mythology behind the Chinese New Year is that it started with a beast called Nian that was menacing the village, so the villagers put food in front their houses to try to stop Nian from eating the villagers. The myth says that someone wanted to confront and take revenge on Nian so a god told him to put red outside their doors and to set off firecrackers. They saw that Nian was scared of the color red and the firecrackers, so every time when the New Year came they would do this to keep Nian away. From then on it never came back to the village, and this started a tradition. This holiday is a time to honor the family and ancestors. The Qing were a proud dynasty and relied little upon foreign trade and influences to grow their economy. This was partly because The Qing were a self sufficient society. Another reason for the denial of Western influences was due to The Qing s great pride of their own culture. Any acceptance of Western influences would dilute the values and traditions of The Qing. That being said, The Qing did allow a trivial amount of foreign trade to take place in the Port of Canton. The refusal to allow Western influences, the lack of knowledge of the importance of foreign relations and the continued reliance of Confucian teachings all played a part in the demise of The Qing Dynasty. The modernization of China would not be possible without the rebellion of 1911. The failure to realize the importance of foreign relationships cannot be overlooked when it comes to the fall of The Qing Dynasty. King George III of Britain, in an attempt to convince Qian Long to allow the British access to other ports of trade, along with a few other requests, sent Lord Macartney to China. These requests were extraordinary in the eyes of Qian Long and were ultimately denied. Lord Macartney failed on his mission to petition Qian Long to open more ports for transactions.
