Finasteride Synthesis
E: Finasteride is indicated for androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness) in males who are
undergoing hair loss in the crown and the anterior scalp areas (2). It has the greatest efficacy in
improving the hair loss of androgenetic alopecia approved by the FDA in the current market (2).
Finasteride works by precluding the activity of type 2 5 alpha reductase (2). This is the enzyme that
produces DHT (dihydrotestosterone) from testosterone (2). DHT is the cause of hair thinning and
subsequent hair loss due to its effect of diminishing the size of hair follicles (3). A long term study
established the efficacy of finasteride in patients with greater than 30% enhancement in hair growth
with visible outcome (3). This study showed that taking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finasteride usage has been linked to diminished ejaculated volume, decreased sexual urge, and
erectile dysfunction (2). However, a study noted that sexual side effects only affected 3.8% in
the finasteride group while the placebo group still exhibited 2.1% of such side effects (8). In
addition, a trial showed that the finasteride 1mg group (between 18 41 y/o) experienced
weakened libido at 1.8% incidence versus 1.2% in the placebo group with the same age
category (9). In addition, there was a report that the daily administration of finasteride 1mg may
be linked to possible gynecomastia (11). However, the cause of this adverse effect in relation to
finasteride intake is controversial with rare reports from few individuals who noticed the issue
after 2 4 months of drug therapy (11). For minoxidil, episodes of contact dermatitis have been
reported with facial hypertrichosis (6). In 1 year study, individuals using the topical minoxidil 5%
solution exhibited irritation and itchiness of the affected area at 4% incidence rate (6). The same
study, however, noted that 2% minoxidil group showed diminished episodes of such side effect
(pruritis) at 0.6% (6). Furthermore, the propylene glycol, which may irritate the skin or induce an
allergic reaction, is not part of the minoxidil foam but is included in the minoxidil solution (2,6).
Thus, this foam type of topical minoxidil has shown to

The Life and Representations of patron Saint Barbra Essays
This report is about the patron Saint Barbra, who is the patron saint for United States
artillerymen. You will read about her life, why she represents artilleryman, other things she
represents, and many interesting facts about her. In my opinion she has a very interesting story
to why she represents us. Though when she was born is debatable, it is believed to be in the late
third century maybe early fourth century. There are several facts about her that are fairly constant
in all the articles I read. She was a young beautiful woman. Who had a father who feared that his
daughter would one day leave him and never return. He was a Pagan named Dioscorus. In an
attempt to stop that he locked her in a tower and kept her under tight lock and... Show more content

Now you may be thinking to yourself how this has absolutely anything to do with artilleryman. It s
simple; imagine you are in the American Revolution. Your only job is to load the cannonand light
the fuse. Back at that time it was a very dangerous job because the cannon was just as likely to
explode as to shot the intended projectile. Which some may consider being a sudden death? This in
turn is how she is related to field artilleryman. The United States military isn t the only group that
claims her for patronage. Along with artilleryman around the world she is also tradioninally the
patron saint of any profession that deals with explosives. Some examples may be miners, military
engineers, gunsmiths and armoires. Many Catholics who have a risk of sudden death or even a
violent death pray to her to keep them safe.
She is seen as an embodiment of safety all around the world. Mostly celebrated on Saint Barbra s
day, which is December 4th, by Military around the world she is also celebrated through
Universities and cultures. In several South American and Caribbean religions she is associated
with deities of fire. All throughout north and South America she has churches named in her honor.
It seems no matter where u go in the world she is celebrated. I could go on all day about the
parades in Australia, the superstations in Macedonia, or even the food eaten by the Greece on

How Does Leonard Have A Miscommunication
In this scene from the television show Big Bang Theory, the characters Sheldon and Leonard have
a miscommunication as a result of a breakdown in their listening process. The scene begins with
Sheldon trying to get Stephen Hawking to return to their online game, and then Leonard walks in
and mentions that he did a bad thing. After determining that this bad thing does not affect him,
Sheldon decides not to listen to Leonard, who proceeds to explain what that bad thing was. This
is where the breakdown in their conversation occurs. A few more lines of dialogue are exchanged,
and when Leonard realizes that Sheldon s responses have nothing to do with Leonard s issue, he
says, Is it possible we re having two different conversations? Sheldon

City Ordinance Violation
Violation Of City Ordinance/Utility Water Requirements On 05 23 2017 at approximately 1625
hours, I was contacted by public works supervisor Jeremy Bustos (TX DL # 06660917) in
reference to a utility water meter violation at 404 W. 3rd Avenue. Upon arrival, I made contact
with Bustos, who visually showed me a water hose buried under the ground running from the next
trailer over that was connected to city utilities. The trailer had a water hose fitting connected into
the trailer that did not have the utilities turned on, therefore bypassing the city s water utility
requirements, a violation of the city ordinance. I made contact with Crystal Salinas (TX DL #

How Is Ancient Egypt Different From Our Culture
Did you know that the Egyptians kids were naked untill they were six years old? If you are six
years old or younger you would be naked right now if you lived in the Ancient Egypt time. The
Egyptians had many different cultures than us. Clothings, jewelry, makeup, and etc. are some
examples that were different than our culture. Clothing is very different than us. Most of the men
in working classes wore either loincloth or short kilt and sometimes a type of shirt. Women wore
straight dresses with one or two straps. Animal skins, above all leopard skins, worn by priests and
by pharaohs. At times Kings and Queens wore ceremonial clothing adorned with feathers.
Another example is the jewelry. Specific materials, colours, and designs were often associated with
certain gods or goddesses or magical qualities of protection. Any changes to these could affect the
spiritual value of the items. Everyone wore jewelry in Ancient Egypt, from poor farmers to wethly
royals. For the wealthy, pieces were made from semi precious ... Show more content on

Egyptians appeared to care a great deal about the way they looked. Pharaohs had their own
hairdressers and manicurists and cosmetics was big business. Archaeologists have unearthed
mirrors, hair pins, makeup containers, brushes and other items. On special occasions ancient
Egyptians wore greasy cones of fragrance on their head that melted in the heat and dripped
perfume on their wigs. To decorate their eyes, the Ancient Egyptians used black and green
paints. The black paint was derived from powdered galena (now known as kohl) and it was
supposed to protect eyes from the hot sun. The green paint was derived from malachite powder (a
green coloured mineral) and was used because it would make eyes appear larger. In addition, green
paint was believed to invoke the eye of Horus, the god of The Sky Sun and also of healing. For this
reason, the Egyptians thought green paint would protect those who wore

George Washington Carver Essay
George Washington Carver
George Washington Carver was born in Diamond Grove, Missouri during the spring of 1864 or
1865. Like many slaves, he was uncertain of his birth date. His mother, Mary, was a slave who
belonged to Moses and Susan Carver. As an infant, slave raiders kidnapped his mother. The
childless carvers reared George and his older brother, James.
Growing up, George was captivated by plants. Many neighbors referred to him as the Plant Doctor
. Since Carver was an African American, he was not accepted at any local schools, therefore he
had to attend school eight miles away from home. He did very well in school. In 1885 he was
accepted to Highland College in Kansas. However, race became an issue again and they took away

As well as creating the Farmers Institute, Carver also helped the farmers of Alabama and the
southern states a great deal. An insect called the boll weevil became an enormous threat to the
cotton fields of southern United States. Carver recommended to these farmers that they should
substitute their cotton crops with sweet potatoes and, the more successful recommendation,
peanuts. This switch would provide farmers another source of income and would also help to
prevent the spread of the insect. The one problem with this solution was that no one knew what to
do with all the peanut crops. Carver was quoted as saying: we can learn to synthesize materials for
every human need from the things that grow. So that is what he did. In total, Carver was able to
create close to three hundred different products from the peanut plant. These wide variety of
products include dyes, ink, insulation, cosmetics, stock feed, medicines, glue, soap, and peanut
milk. Although most of his products never became commercially sold, Carver became widely
known as the Peanut Man . He also created nearly one hundred uses for the sweet potato crops.
Even though George WashingtonCarver was well known throughout parts of the south, his real
rise to fame started in 1916. Carver was invited to join the Royal Society for the Arts. Shortly
afterward, the Carver Products Company was founded to market his many products. Carver was
also honored with the medal of the National

A Journey Too Extreme In Nickel and Dimed, Barbara Ehrenreich proclaims that while on a
mission to experience the struggles in the everyday life of the poor, she will never be able to
fully understand what it s like to be in that situation. Throughout her journey, she comes across
many different people and job opportunities, making for a different outcome every time.
Although there was variation of variables, her response to troubling situations was always the
same: giving up. For example, while she was working in a restaurant in Key West, she decided to
quit her job as a waitress after being yelled at by her supervisor. The same day, she quit a
housekeeping job due to the low pay $6.50 an hour. In another instance, she quit her job as

H1N1 Influenza ( Swine Flu ) is a flu pandemic that has recently spread all around the world. The
Swine Flu began its massive spread through Mexico in April (2009) and by June, the World Health
Organization raised the alert level to a full blown pandemic across the globe. The virus has spread
rapidly throughout the world. Luckily, the governments around the globe have offered an
immunization flu shot against this pandemic that is available to some citizens at this present time.
In Lawrence Gostin s Swine Flu Vaccine: What Is Fair? (2009), he explains his doubts for the
Swine Flu vaccination by emphasizing how rich countries have a large advantage over poor

In his article, Swine Flu Vaccine: What Is Fair?, Gostin points out that rich countries in general
will probably use their vastly superior spending power to acquire vaccines. Stockpiling by the rich,
of course, leaves poor countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America much more vulnerable (11).
After all, everyone needs to be protected from the dangers of H1N1 Influenza throughout the world
and income should not play a role in who is vaccinated. It is a reality that every individual is just
as important as the next and should have a fair chance at a vaccination. Organizations are
creating the vaccines with the idea of profit in mind and this is not fair to the poorer countries
around the globe. Wealthy countries are definitely more likely to acquire vaccinations in relation
to poorer ones. Second, it is advisable that everyone should get vaccinated against H1N1
Influenza because it can prevent the Swine Flu from spreading any further. If the entire world s
population was vaccinated against the Swine Flu, this would result in the complete control of the
virus. We need to stop H1N1 Influenza in its tracks and protect all citizens from the flu regardless
of their income or social class. Gostin observes that President Obama plans to spend a minuscule
$350 million of Swine Flu resources for global health and child survival, and two thirds of that sum

Financial Ratios Analysis Of Pumpkin Patch Limited
Introduction
This is the report about financial ratios analysis of Pumpkin Patch Limited(PPL). This children s
clothing retail brand began with one store in 1991, now has about 600 employees across 43 stores
in New Zealand and 1000 staff in 117 stores in Australia. However, it tripped into receivership
recently. At the same time, Pumpkin Patch managing director Luke Bunt said however, despite
considerable efforts by the board and its management team, it has become evident that no solution
is available to the company, at this time, to address the current over leveraged and significantly
capital constrained position. (McNicol, 2016)
This report will discuss the reasons for PPL s failure, which is supported by the research mentioned

Moreover, comparing zero interest bearing liability in 2014 with 41 million in 2015, the current
liability was increased from 30 million to 72 million. It also explained why current ratio was
declined from 3.04 in 2014 to 0.88 and 0.73 in 2015 and 2016 separately.
The quick ratio is a more rigorous test for the company s ability to meet its short term debts than
current ratio because inventory was eliminated from current assets. The quick ratio for PPL
indicates serious issues as it has decreased from 0.31 in 2012 to 0.07 in 2016. The low quick
ratio implies that a considerable portion of the current assets of the company is tied up as part of
its inventory (Bragg, 2007), which means that the lower level of quick liquidity ratio indicates a
high level of financial risk. The balance sheet for PPL (PPL, 2016) revealed that, particularly in
2016, the inventory accounted for 90% of the current assets. Therefore, the company must improve
its working capital to meet its near term current liabilities.
The cash conversion cycle is a result of time taken by the company for their collection from
receivables (average collection period) and time needed to convert material into goods (day
inventory held) after subtracting the time taken to pay its current obligation (day payable
outstanding). The average collection period of account receivable and the day inventory held ratio
improved in 2016 after rose to the highest days in 2014, which

Windows versus Linux
Windows, and Linux are very different operating systems that are also very similar in multiple
ways. Windows was first sold on November 20, 1985 under the name Windows 1.0. It was
revolutionary for it s time. People had been used to using command line interface to type out there
commands. Windows 1.0 allowed for them to just point and click on what they wanted. Then, along
came Linuxa few years later. Linux was revolutionary because it was Unix like and it was open
source. Open source meant that anyone could access the source code to tailor it to their liking.
This has allowed multiple different versions of Linux to be produced since then including one
called Lindows. Lindows is exactly what you would expect from the name. It is a version... Show

Linux also started with a command line interface like Windows. There are many similarities
between the two. Whether or not someone selects to use it is all based on preference. A detailed
evaluation will often reveal that Windows has more features, and is easier to sue than Linux.
When I took a survey of my peers it revealed that ninety percent of end users preferred to use
Windows over Linux. I asked these people why they preferred Windows to be given multiple
reasons. Some said that they preferred to use an operating system that was native to them since
they had grown up using Windows. Others said that they liked the features better, and liked the
innovations. When I asked about Lindows they said that it would just not be the same
especially considering that Linux in it s native form can not run .exe applications which has
become a major part of the typical end users daily application usage. Truth be told however if
someone was just going to browse the internet to check e mail, and perform other miscellaneous
tasks there is no distinction based on operating system. The major problem comes in when a user
needs to use specific applications or software made for Windows. Linux is a valuable asset if you
are looking to host a server but do not want to purchase Microsoft server which is the Windows
equivalency. It is easy to use, maintain, and valuable to any network that requires a server. When it
comes down to it both operating systems can do the same thing,

Disaster Recovery For A Business
Disaster recovery for a business goes further than backing up some tapes or disks and storing
them in an off site storage facility. Disaster recovery also involves making the business whole
again, from retrieving the data backups after the disaster to restoring the data on the system, and
opening the doors for business again with minimal loss of time, money, and reputation. This
paper discusses the implications of a non existent or inadequate plan for disaster recovery, with
a particular focus on repercussions for small to medium size businesses (SMBs). Traditional
disaster recovery plans are discussed in terms of physical space required, costs of equipment
needed as the business grows, and the time for recovery needed when a disaster occurs. The
paper reviews the option of using the Cloud for disaster recovery. Specifically, the advantages of
increased speed for data recovery, reduced equipment expenses, increased security, and scalability
are discussed, along with any challenges to be faced when choosing the Cloud for disaster
recovery. Disaster Recovery in the Cloud Why plan for something that may never happen? Many
companies ask this question when the topic of disaster recovery is mentioned. However, in this age
of security breaches from outside the company or errors committed by untrained employees within
the company, it is not really a question of if a disaster will occur, but rather of when. In addition to
human actions disrupting business, natural

Have you ever thought about exploring space? In the text From Packing For Mars they discuss
some reasons why we shouldn t spend valuable resources. Even though some people think that
we should spend our valuable resources, I think that we shouldn t. To begin, it is expensive and
that there are risks for going into space. In From packing for Space they say that it is expensive
because its 500 billion dollars. This is important because it would be most of our valuable
resources going into the fund. In Neil De Grasse it says that it would be very expensive and it has a
lot of risks. This is important because we would be putting astronauts in danger and putting money

deprivation is a crucial concept to Left Realism, and is perhaps the most easily identifiable
Marxist idea in Left Realism. Relative deprivation is not the deprivation of money etc. but being
deprived of something to which one believes oneself to be entitled to have, and Left Realist s
believe it is relative, not material deprivation that causes crime, and following the Idea of
Merton s strain theory, people commit crime to gain what they think they are deprived of.
Young began the idea of a Bulimic Society , where expensive products, obtainable easily only by
the upper classes and presented daily and rigorously presented to the working class via the
Media. Therefore, the Media is seen as the fuel to relative deprivation, and consequently the root
of crime and deviance within Society. Like all theories, Left Realism has its share of criticisms,
such as ignoring white collar crime, overzealous in their predictions of the level of crime and
over reliance on Victim Survey s, which are too subjective to be taken as concrete data. Left
Realist s also has its criticizer s, such as the Right Realist s, who believe economic and social

The Effects Of Stress On The Stress Of The World Stress
People all over the world stress about something every day. Stress can lead to many dangerous
health problems and can strain relationships with other people. People in the United States stress
over many of the same issues. I stress about school, work, family issues, and social life. School
causes me to stress more than any of the other issues. I attend college classes five days of the
week and I commute an hour to Kentucky Wesleyan and an hour back home every day. I just
started college and every week I receive many assignments and test. In most classes, test consist
of a big part of my grade, so doing well on test will help me pass and will help me stress less. In
order, to manage the stress that test cause me, I will need to use a proactive strategy to combat the
stress of the test. A proactive strategy is a strategy to cope with the stressor. Since, I cannot
eliminate the test I need to cope with them. A way to do that is to study the test material for thirty
minutes every night to ensure I know the material. Also, I stress over assignments. College
assignments differ from high school assignments. Professors expect more from your work than high
school teachers do, therefore it makes the assignment more stressful. I forget about the assignments
sometimes and wait until the day before to start the assignment causing more stress to finish the
assignment in time. I need to use a proactive strategy to cope with the stress of the assignments. I

A Brief Note On Malpractice And Liability Issues
Malpractice and liability are touchy topics when they relate to the profession of social work.
Ignorance and good intentions are no longer acceptable excuses whenever a social worker
makes a serious mistake within their practice. Practitioners are required to seek out knowledge
in order to prevent malpractice suits and unethical behavior (Dolgoff et. al, 2012). One of the
biggest causes of malpractice suits when dealing with technology is confidentiality breaches. It
is easier to break confidentiality when you are using systems that are not always 100 percent
secure and private. Reamer (2013) mentions that social workers must be knowledgeable on all
forms of digital media that use in their practice. Many malpractice suits could have been
prevented if the worker had more knowledge on the issue involved. An issue can be unethical, but
legal and vice versa (Dolgoff et. al, 2012). For example, not properly maintaining records is not
considered a crime, but is unethical within the social workprofession. Another example would be a
worker refusing to send a child back to a home where the child is being sexually assaulted after the
court made the order to do so. I would not see this as unethical because the worker is advocating
for the safety of the child, but it would be viewed as a crime in the eyes of society
Some other malpractice suits that can arise when incorporating electronic media into traditional
treatment include: abandonedment, improper documentation,

because her sister takes her husband s side. Describing a relationship between two sisters can be

outsiders disrespecting one or the other, sisters stick up for each other. Stella on the other hand
did not. Stella was in denial over everything. Stella was in the middle of every conflict that went

Stella did not say a word. She s stuck in between the two because she does not want to seem like

Period 4 Fahrenheit 451 Analysis
Fahrenheit 451 was written by Ray Bradbury. This futuristic dystopia is about a community of
people that relies tv and electronics. The novel demonstrates suppression of the mind where the
citizens don t have the freedom to ask questions and be creative. It is taught that there is only one
answer to a question. In the novel firefighters burn books to annihilate using the thought process.
This explains the reason the book is called Fahrenheit 451, because 451 degrees was the temperature
at which the books were all burned at. The novel is a social criticism to censorship in today s

Mental Disorder In Soldiers
Standing Down Being a member of the United States Armed Forces is one of the most dangerous
jobs in the world. These soldiers face many challenges and the chance of major harm befalling
them on, at times, on a daily basis. They are at risk of injuries that, while not unheard of amongst
civilians are on a completely different scale in terms of frequency and probability. Injuries such as:
amputations, shrapnel wounds, bullet wounds, severe burns, and PTSD are common.
The patients include: gunshot wound (GSW) to the stomach, partial amputations from a land mind,
open fractures secondary to GSW, head injury/ Struck by a tank, blast injuries, shrapnel injuries, and

One trooper confides in me that he witnessed some Iraqi children get run over by a convoy. He

The worst part is that even though so many of our veterans suffer with these debilitating

Effects Training Has on Muscle Cell Hypertrophy
As discussed in paper one, readers can see the complexity that lies behind muscle fibers and the
contractile units that make up each muscle cell. At the normal physiology level, muscle fibers exist
as complex bundles of small muscle filaments. These filaments, known as actin and myosin bind in
such a way that allows for sarcomere contraction. In assistance with calcium flowing into muscle
cells, proteins known as tropomyosin and troponin ultimately allow cross bridging to occur.
Throughout the body three types of muscle fibers exist, these types of fibers are slow oxidative,
fast oxidative and fast glycolytic. Activation or recruitment of these fibers varies from person to
person depending on the muscle specificity needed to perform a given contraction. In other words
the innervation of each fiber depends solely on the muscle needed to engage in a specific exercise.
By first knowing the anatomy behind a muscle cell one can then have a better understanding of the
effects training has on muscle cell hypertrophy.
The two primary functions of skeletal muscle is to contract to cause force, and to provide stability
to the body. During exercise each muscle must be able to contract in response to the stress or
tension on that muscle. The idea behind muscle hypertrophy is that as a progressive overload of
stress is applied to the muscle, it is able to adapt by increasing the size and number of contractile
proteins making up the muscle fiber. Muscle growth or hypertrophy

I have gained more fascinating insights about the field after reading the interview with dinosaur

The Controversial Role Of Hazing In The Present Day
Hazing is a common ritual found in both academic and employment settings. Although hazing was
instituted a few centuries ago, its prominence can still be seen in modern day society. For that
reason, this paper will examine three areas that includes the background of hazing, the viewpoint
comparison on hazingthrough two peer reviewed articles, and why hazing is still controversial in
the present day.
Background of Hazing
According to Parks, Jones, Ray, Hughey, and Cox (2015), hazing as part of a rite of passage
process dates back to the beginning of mankind with the first documented instances of organized
hazing coming from ancient Greece, where prospective soldiers demonstrated their loyalty through
painful and uncomfortable experiences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The captain can remind teammates of the hazing prevention workshop and suggest a progressive
team dinner where each senior member of the team provides a food course. (Heibert Klatt, 2001, p.
170 2; p. 17)
Keep in mind that Waldron s (2012) suggestions for reducing hazing may have little influence due
to the countervailing force of peer pressure (Edelman, 2005, p. 328). Therefore, it is highly
unlikely that this contradictory approach will succeed using a short range tactic to replace a long
range strategy (Fallacies, 2006, More..., para. 1 42; Heibert Klatt, 2001, p. 170 2). Hence, further
discussions are needed to determine which author(s) presented the stronger argument.
Taking all this into account, Waldron (2012) has presented a stronger argument than Josefowitz
and Gadon (1989). The reason for this is due to Waldron (2012) maintaining a neutral position,
while presenting strong scientific evidence on the subject of hazing. Also, the statistics presented
by Waldron (2012) did not have any fallacies when compared to that of Josefowitz and Gadon
(1989) (Fallacies, 2006, More..., para. 1 42). Based upon these differences and how society has
changed its cultural stance on hazing, Waldron (2012) has clearly given the better argument and
solution for stopping hazing. Hence, a further discussion is needed on why hazing remains a
controversial

1992 Presidential Election Campaign Analysis
During his acceptance speech in 1988, Republican Vice President, George H. W. Bush, said, read
my lips, no new taxes (Bush as cited by Matthews, 2004). Unfortunately, in the wake of financial
pressure President Bush in 1990 implemented a new tax on the American people. The failure to
honor this declaration brought into question President Bush s credibility and trust, and ultimately
followed him to the 1992 Presidential Election (Jamieson, 1996). However minimal the phrase, the
impact of his trustworthiness plagued Bush to the ballot box costing him reelection. The presence
of credibility, likability, and charisma in a political candidate are precious characteristics needed in
the electoral process.
These characteristics have the power to move voters in an electoral process and ignite action

The Impact Of Corporation Tax Liabilities Of Individual...
Task 2
The impact of corporation tax liabilities of individual companies and groups of companies.
Corporation tax (CT) is tax paid by limited companies, most corporate bodies and other
unincorporated associations on their profits, adjusted for tax purposes (Jones, 2010). For United
Kingdom (UK) resident companies, corporation tax is assessed on [their] worldwide income and
chargeable gains arising in a chargeable accounting period (CAP) (ACCA, 2013, p. 576).
Corporation tax liability is calculated by multiplying total taxable profits (TTP) by the appropriate
corporation tax rate (Tax donut, 2015a). See Appendix 1 and 2 for details.

[Positively affecting] both domestic... and foreign direct investment (p.11).
If investment increases, demand in the economy will increase, resulting in increased demand for
labour, raise in wages, and more disposal income (HMRC HM Treasury, 2013). Therefore, low tax
liability has a positive impact on both the company and economy s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
To encourage companies, grow the UK economy and create jobs, the UK government has
reduced the main tax rate from 28% in 2010 to 21% in 2014 (HM Treasury, 2013, 2014). It is
argued that reduction in tax rates will ease tax burden for businesses and reduce employment costs
therefore, stimulating investment (HM Treasury Osborne, 2014). See (Appendix 3) for CT rates
and effect on CT liability.
Another example, in 2014, Wood reported that Boots Alliance had benefited from the series of tax
cuts to CT rate. Their profits increased by 16%, easing the tax burden by eliminating more than
ВЈ100m off CT liability.
However, reduction in corporation tax rates may mean less revenue collected by government from
CT. In 2014, Houlder reported that businesses will pay approximately ВЈ8bn less CT a year by
2016 17. Indicating, corporation tax cuts are costing the UK government more than ВЈ5bn a year
causing other public funds to be cut. Reduction in CT liability may negatively affect highly

Then starting from the edge of your lawn, then working backwards fertilize your lawn. As you do
this process, be sure you have an even coating across the entire area. When you are done, make
sure you do a full watering to ensure that the area remains moist. In about a week, you will want to
reseed your entire lawn paying close attention to any bare or yellow patches that might turn up after
you have done the fertilizing process.
After you have setup your entire yard and have prepared it for the cooler months, be sure that
you follow the next piece of garden care advice. You will need to take your sprinkler system and
wrap it well. Any watering that you might need to do in the winter months should be done by hand
with a detachable hose. This will help you to prevent freezing and having a sprinkler system that
can cause your problems next year.
Something to keep in mind during this entire process is some plants can t tolerate the cold well. If
you are expecting a freeze at anytime, be sure that you cover weaker plants with a warm blanket or

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Contaminated Dental Disinfect
Contaminated dental impression will result in a contaminated dental cast. Because of potential
damage to the model, it is more difficult to disinfect a cast than to disinfect an impression.
There is ample documentation of the transfer of microorganisms onto and into impressions.
Organisms can also move into dental casts. Some of these organisms can remain viable for up to 7

Periodontics Personal Statement

When a procedure as basic as scaling and root planning and the sight of reduced post operative
inflammation seeing the gingiva turn to a benign pink from red gives you a sense of fulfillment
and satisfaction that is incomparable, you know that being a Periodontist is everything you have

Now, all that sets a text in relationship, whether obvious or concealed, with other texts is denoted by
Genette as transtextuality (1). As a study of relationships, which link a text with the transtextual
network out of which it produces its meaning, it can be further divided into five more specific
subcategories: 1.intertextuality п‚ѕ a relationship of copresence between two texts or among several
texts , that is, the actual presence of one text within the other (Genette 1,2), as we see in the case of
quotations, allusions and plagiarism. 2.paratextuality п‚ѕ a relationship between the text and all the
extra textual writings and materials (peritexts and epitexts), which surround the text and help to
direct and control the reader s reception of it, but themselves remain outside. 3.metatextuality п‚ѕ a
relationship between the text and other texts, upon which it serves as an explicit or implicit
commentary. 4.hypertextuality п‚ѕ a relationship uniting a text (Text B) and another text(Text A),
upon which the previous one is grafted in a way that is not that of a commentary (Genette 5) (here
the Text A is called the hypotext and the Text B the hypertext). 5.archytextuality п‚

between the text and the different modes, genres and theme that it refers or belongs to. Now we

Throughout recorded history, people of various cultures have relied on what
Western medical practitioners today call alternative medicine. The term alternative medicine covers

Puncturing the skin with a needle is the usual method, but acupuncturists may also stimulate the

Although Western physicians and researchers do not truly understand the concept of Qi, there is
evidence that acupuncture can influence the movement or release of many chemicals in the body.
Research conducted by Dr. Bruce
Pomeranz, a neurophysiologist at the University of Toronto, established that acupuncture releases
naturally produced, morphine like substances called endorphins (Crute).
In addition to releasing endorphins, doctors and clinicians know that acupuncture can provide at

Furthermore, recent studies also show acupuncture to be effective in alleviating bronchial asthma,
bronchitis, and stroke induced paralysis

Happiness Vs Happiness
Happiness is an emotion that many individuals try to search for throughout their lives, whereas
people view happiness as an essential factor in living a quality life. All over the world, there are
individuals who believe that they can find true joy through distancing oneself from social
interactions and by living life independently. Many believe that this is true because you are
allowed to make your own choices when living independently. When we are independent, we tend
to make choices that surround ourselves. In addition, the choices that we make as independent
individuals tends to be selfish and egocentric. To this, these choices are selfish because we are
independent and only worry about our own selves. Although living life independently may seem as
a road to happiness, it is not the way to live. An individual should live life compassionately and
surround themselves with people they cherish. To live life compassionately, we should be
understanding of other individual s and show empathy. Each and every individual experiences
different upbringings that make us unique. Often when we re uncompassionate, we tend to
misunderstand other individuals because we hold them up to our own moral standards. Whenever
you feel like criticizing anyone.... remember that all the people in this world haven t had the
advantages that you ve had (Fitzgerald 1). Without compassion, we are quick to assume and judge
other individuals, whereas we only think of ourselves. When being consumed with our own
thoughts and own well being, we become self centered individuals with our default settings on. In
This Is Water, Wallace defines these default settings as the, unconscious belief that I am the center
of the world and that my immediate needs... determine the world s priorities (Wallace 236).
Contrary to the thoughts of self centered individuals, we are not the center of the world. As
individuals that live in a world with an abundant amount of other individuals, it s essential to not
maintain an aura of selfishness.
While it is true that living compassionately isn t always easy, a compassionate lifestyle is still
essential to develop a kindhearted character. Those who oppose a life of compassion may argue
that to feel emotion and

Religion And Its Role Within Societies 600 B.c
Religion and its role in societies 600 B.C.E. 600 C.E.
Codifications and further developments of existing religious traditions provided a bond among the
people and an ethical code to live by.
Religion has been a dominant cultural, ethical, and political force throughout human history, both
recent and ancient. Religion has been science and asylum for many generations of very many
people, uniting them in their common faith. Temples were built for people to pray and perform
sacrifice in, giving the people a common cause to live for and thereby creating personal relations
between people even before you got to know them. The unique features of ancient religions were
that they were all polytheistic, meaning that they recognized many gods, instead of one main
one. And the problem with this was that in the ancient history, before the invention of writing,
nothing was written down: stories were told verbally, laws were passed on verbally, and writing
things down was an incredible task for the ancient people, and gave incredible glory to the people
that did it, because if it s written down, it s much easier to spread your beliefs and it s harder to
forget specifics of your religion or law. Writing down religious and political texts has greatly
facilitated the religions diffusion and spread throughout the globe, and consequently, brought
together and apart many more religious people and governments.
What also helped currently popular and dominant religions spread was that most

God Is The God Of Wine And Parties
Dionysus is the god of wine and parties. He is the son of Semele, a mortal, and Zeus, god of the
sky and ruler of all the gods. There have been many similarities between Dionysus and Jesus made
by people throughout history yet we have to wonder why do we need Dionysus? He is not exactly
the most moral god ever. Is he actually important and necessary in Greek mythology? Does his
danger outweigh his importance and necessity? What is the play telling us about sanity and insanity?
There have been so many similarities throughout history noted between Dionysus in The Bacchae
and Jesus in The Bible. Some similarities include their births, people wanting to kill them as infants,
others disbelief that they are gods, the persecution because others do not believe in their divinity,
and their rebirths.
Both gods were born to virgins and miraculously conceived without sex. When Semele told others
about her pregnancy, she was mocked. They said that Dionysus was no son of Zeus, but Semele
had slept beside a man in love. Cadmus lied to protect his daughter s name. (Euripides 20, 28). In
the book of Matthew, Mary conceives a child through the Holy Spirit while she was still betrothed
to Joseph (Matthew 1:18).
Both gods lives were in danger as infants. When Dionysus was born Zeus s wife, Hera, was
furious Zeus had had another affair and tried to throw Dionysus down Mount Olympus. Zeus hid
Dionysus and gave Hera a [baby] molded piece of the ether that encircles the Earth (Hathaway 247)

Urosalpinx cinerea, Atlantic Oyster Drill
The latin name Urosalpinx cinerea Urosalpinx is a genus of small carnivorous gastropod mollusks.
The scientific classification is:
Kingdom: Animalia Creatures in the Animalia Kingdom must be multicellular, heterotrophic (they
have to ingest other organisms because they cannot make their own food), and Eukaryotes (type of
cells that are more complex than prokaryotic cell found in bacteria).
Phylum: Mollusca The Atlantic Oyster Drill is in the Phylum Mollusca because it possesses the
features necessary for membership in this phylum. It is a free living aquatic form, its body is soft

parts of the oyster.
Scientist H. Federighi studied the effects of salinity on the size of Urosalpinx cinerea. In
1927,Urosalpinx cinerea were collected to figure out the average size of the species from two
different places: Norfolk, Virginia and Beaufort, North Carolina. The average size of each group
of the snail was identified, and it turned out the average sizes were very different in the two
places. In Norfolk, the average length was between 21 and 25 millimeters, yet in Beaufort the size
was 13 to 17 millimeters. It was then that Federighi began to look into the effects of salinity.
Immediately, the temperature of the two places could be ruled out as the cause for this size
variation because the temperature doesn t really vary between the two places. However, the
salinity of the two areas do differ greatly. The results of his experiment indicated that the snails
grow larger in brackish water, water that has more salinity than freshwater, but less than seawater.

How Does Water Teach Siddhartha
Siddhartha is taught not by Buddha, but by the behavior and the movement of the water that
surrounds him. The motion and life likeness of water can be classified as an important symbol in
Buddhist thinking. Water to Siddhartha and his mentor, Vasudeva, is not just something for them to
ferry people across, but a teacher to help them understand the way life works. The water taught
Siddharthamany things but most importantly it taught him to live in the present, that the past
always comes back, and that life is transitory. First, when Siddhartha comes to Vasudeva and is
taught in the way of a ferry man, the water teaches him that there is no time. Before coming to
Vasudeva, Siddhartha kept changing what he wanted to learn from, each not being... Show more

It symbolizes how in Buddhism the now is perfect, that everything comes back to you, and in
life you have to go through many things to gain different aspects of a whole. In Buddhism the
world is perfect how it is not, just like how water teaches Siddhartha that the now is good and he
should live in the present not the past or the future. In Buddhism it also states that everything
come backs to you, just like the water telling Siddhartha that his past will always come back even
if he lives in the present, it will always come back to him. The water also teaches Siddhartha the
importance of how life is transitory, or not permanent. It teaches Siddhartha this because Siddhartha
goes through many journeys not just one, and is telling him that life will not stop after you finish
your journey but keep going, just as water does. In Buddhism it s the same thing because life keeps
going and you are always in a constant state of journeying to achieve parts of a whole,
enlightenment. The water is a symbol in Buddhist thinking because it teaches the exact things
Buddhism does. The water is a metaphor for the journey of the Buddha, or Siddhartha, learning
from multiple different ways of living, and trying to find one that would suit his

Analysis Of The Poem Terrace Mcnally s The Mother,...
HIV/AIDS affects people both directly and indirectly. It is an extremely painful for the person
with the virus, and it is emotional for them and their loved ones. Many people have preconceived
ideas about what types of people get HIV/AIDS and can be stubborn and unaccepting. Terrace
McNally elicits empathyfrom the audienceby using literary devices including; the unique
characteristics of Andre s Mother, and the balloons symbolizing Andre s soul. I am very
compassionate about the topic because my sister is HIV positive. I know that she has been through
a lot, and people have treated her differently because of it. However, she is still the same person.
Terrace McNally decided to make the character of Andre s Mother nameless. Choosing not to
give her a name leaves room for the reader to imagine why she is nameless. Giving a character a
name makes them more personable, leaving a character unnamed would usually make them less
memorable. It is difficult to remember much about a character that you can not address by name.
However, in this situation, being nameless creates a distinct and intriguing character. It forces the
audience to question why these choices were made, and this allows the audience to use their
imagination and think about what type of person Andre s Mother was. I believe that Andre s
Mother s silence shows that she is not accepting of her son and that they do not have a close and
open relationship. Andre does not even tell his mother about his partner Cal in

Life Events And Stress, Stressors And Frustration
Boot Camp Days Finally, it has come, the final paper! Although I will miss all the great things
we learn about in class every week, I will not miss having to think of information to type in these
papers. This week the topics I have chosen to discuss are; life events and stress, stressors and
frustration. The best way I can relate to these topics is by talking about my personal experiences
at Navy Boot Camp. The worst eight and a half weeks of my life.
The Good Beginning
My journey began, I was leaving the Tampa airport and heading to Chicago, destination Great
Lakes, to become a sailor. At the airport, I was full of many different thoughts and emotions, being
excited, but scared of what was to come.
Arriving at the Chicago O Hare airport we were met by a group of Petty Officers who were a lot
nicer than I thought they would be. Before we left the airport, we had to throw out anything we
were not supposed to have, lip balm, lotions, soaps, we couldn t even keep our toothbrushes. That
was fine, at least I wasn t getting yelled at. Then we loaded up onto a bus and headed to the base.
The Start of the Worst Arriving on base, we pulled up to a building and quickly loaded off the
bus and filed in one by one. There were three different people all yelling different directions.
Sadly, the Petty Officers who picked us up from the airport, were not Recruit Division
Commanders (RDC). My hope of everything continuing to go well was shot down very quickly.
Just being there five

Battle Of The Sexes Analysis
The Battle of the Sexes Sherlock Holmes is the fundamental character of the wrongdoing/puzzle
novel and scene arrangement. Holmes demonstrates the way his observational aptitudes help him to
prevail as an investigator. Holmes is considered to demonstrate no feeling along these lines,
directing him as the machine . Holmes demonstrates a ton of routes on how he makes sense of the
cases he researches. The viewer can see the connection amongst Adler and Holmes indicates the way
they tend to each other. In the film Holmes demonstrates his character is more observational than in
the story. Holmes communicates his observational abilities and apathetic traits diversely in A
Scandal in Bohemiathan in A Scandal in Belgravia .
The short story A Scandal in Bohemia concentrates on how Irene Adlerbreaks Sherlock Holmes
down. Sherlock Holmes is known for being the most brilliant individual in the room. Holmes
never needs to stress over somebody out hurting him, until the point when he meets the woman .
Everybody knows Holmes to be the man that knows how to explain any case that is tossed at
him, aside from in this one. In the story, Holmes is procured to make sense of where Adler has
the critical photos covered up. Holmes goes to discover Adler, however discovers she has been
away for some time. Adler leaves a snapshot and letter for Holmes. Knowing Holmes as the best
criminologist ever, he has never been out smarted by anybody. As Adler being a lady Holmes
never anticipated that her mind would have the capacity to deceive him. Men are customized
uniquely in contrast to ladies which influences Holmes self image to diminish by being incited
by a lady, the best plans of Mr. Sherlock Holmes were beaten by a woman s wit (Doyle; 26).
Holmes is tested by affliction with Adler deceiving him, which then gets him to crumble. Perusers
can tell that Holmes feels like he lost his heart or soul. Watson says, And when he speaks of Irene
Adler, or when he refers to her photograph, it is always under the honourable title of the woman
(26). After him coming up short, Holmes still alludes to her as the woman rather than Irene Adler.
Holmes can t even mention Alders name which the reader can tell how she has influenced his

Healthcare Reform And Health Care Reform
As evidenced by the constant battle over health care reform, healthcare in the United States has
become a growing problem that must be addressed. While the main controversy seems to be the
politics of healthcare reform and whether the government should have total control, the one thing
that I believe should be the focus, is the quality of care that is embedded in the patient doctor
relationship. It s quite troublesome when large health insurancecompanies are swaying politicians to
vote for less healthcare regulation and higher premiums rather than focusing on the quality of care
and the importance of the patient doctor relationship, which has become overshadowed. That is
why I believe it is important to look at and consider how health care reform such as the PPACA and
policies implemented by private insurance companies have affected the doctor patient relationship
and thereby influenced the quality of medical care. One of the many reasons that I find this an
interesting and important topic is because I aspire to work in the medical field and the interaction
between patients and doctors is important for me to consider and determine how it has changed,
whether it be for better or worse, throughout the years as a result of added regulations and new
reforms.
A pivotal aspect of receiving quality medical care is being able to communicate your health
concerns and have confidence and trust in your doctor, which is essentially the doctor patient
relationship. Yet, this

Music And Semantics Influence The Emotions Perceived...
Can the emotions elicited by music and semantics influence the emotions perceived in visual
stimuli? Interim report. Introduction The immediate aim of this study is to examine whether
participants perception of primed facial expressions is influenced more by the emotions elicited
from music, or words played during the rating of the faces. This experiment will also aim to
study how participants empathy and state trait levels will change the way that the music/words
effects their rating of primed neutral faces. The time that the participants take to rate each face
will also be measured as a reaction time to see if the mood induced by the music will have any
effect on the time it takes to assess each face. If this study can dissociate the effects of music and
semantics on the rating of faces then we can conclude that we use separate mechanisms in the
generating of emotionality. Studying the difference in the effects of semantics vs music on
emotions will allow us to determine which medium has a large effect over ones emotions, and just
how significant this difference is. It is widely accepted in the scientific community that music can
influence our emotions, this is the reason that films are heavily reliant on the score to help
influence the viewers emotions in order to make the film a more engaging, emotional experience.
Rosenbaum Prinskys (1987) research found that the two main reasons that college students in
California listen to music were it helps me to relax

Nuclear Disarmament Persuasive Speech
In April 2009 President Barack Obama made a speech in Prague in which he pledged to work
towards achieving worldwide nuclear disarmament. He called for the banning of nuclear tests and
the strengthening of the Nuclear Non proliferation Treaty and declared that the United States would
lead by example and take considerable steps towards achieving a nuclear weaponfree world. This
vision of a nuclear weapon free world falls in line with Global Zero , an initiative launched in
Paris in December 2008 by George Shultz, Henry Kissinger, William Perry, and Sam Nunn
campaigns for complete nuclear disarmament. (Global Zero, 2016)
The speech evoked mixed responses from both advocates and critics alike. It can be argued, that
although the President s aspirations are both honorable and praiseworthy, there are ground realities
that make the execution of this plan, as well as wide acceptability of the project rather challenging.
First and foremost, it is important to explore what steps the Obama administration have taken
themselves in order to work towards achieving nuclear disarmament and if these have been
substantial.
It has now been seven years since the President gave his speech in Prague. A year after his speech,
in April 6 2010, the Obama administration released a Nuclear Posture Review (NPR). The NPR
emphasizes on the need to counter nuclear proliferation and terrorism and stresses on keeping other
countries from acquiring Nuclear weapons. It also reduces the role of Nuclear

Essay On Female Oppression
Women and minorities experience oppression both similarly and differently. To start, gender
identity is the root of socially assigned male and female roles in society. From the moment an
individual is born he or she is treated in accordance to their gender identity. A child s name,
clothing type, group of friends friends, and family roles are decided based off of a genderbasis. As
he or she enters the working world, his or her pay scales, professions, work environments, and
public restrooms are based on whether the individual is male or female, as well. Sex categorization
is a basis for assigning individuals to adult roles in society. Gender may be the most basic category
of diversity simply because gender roles are identified and enacted... Show more content on

Oppression and subordination affect all women of color and social classes. Women and minorities
both feel inferior to the superior, or dominant group. Young and Dickerson (1994) argue that the
idea of sexism cannot be delineated from the effects of racism and classism. In an essay written by
Chafe (1998) regarding sex and race, he believes that sexism and racism are interlocked in three
methods of social control. This is so because the dominant culture attempts to keep women and
African Americans in their place . First off, there is physical intimidation and threats of violence
against both groups. The idea that males need to protect women suggests that women are incapable
of taking care of themselves. Second, there is domination of the economic status of both African
Americans and women by white, dominant, masculine hierarchies of power. Women must please
males, either sexually or through other services, making honest communication and mutuality
impossible. When women get paid unequally in the workforce, the position is now deemed as
women s work . Finally, women and minorities have a limitation to their goals and aspirations.
When women challenge or protest against their role, they are viewed as angry feminists, unsexed,
or saboteurs of family

The Evolution Of The Spacecraft
The Evolution of the Spacecraft When I first looked back at the Earth, standing on the Moon, I
cried. explained Alan Shepard when asked about his experience on the moon in February 1971 (8).
Space travel had humble beginnings with the first object reaching space orbit in the late 1950s.
Technology improved such that a rocket could be sent to the moon. Studying space teaches us
about our universe and our own planet. The space craft that scientist predict in the future will travel
further into the unknowns of space. In this research paper I will outline the history, the benefits, the
present state, and the future of space travel.
The construction of the first spacecraft was in a chaotic period known as the Cold War. The Cold
War was a war that started after of World War 2 with high tensions between the capitalist United
States and the communist Soviet Union. There were no shots fired between the two countries,
however threats of nuclear warfare still lingered (3). During the Cold War science and technology
grew into a major source of national pride.
The Soviet Union made incredible advances during the Space Race . The Soviet Union made their
first artificial satellite, Sputnik 1. Sputnik 1 orbited the Earth for 21 days before burning up in the
atmosphere in October 1957. The United States quickly fired a satellite about one fourth of the size
of the Sputnik 1, the Navy Vanguard, up into the atmosphere. Unfortunately the Navy Vanguard
only made it a few feet off of the

Even fifty years ago government carried about increasing of unemployment by reason of

Big factories prefer use robots to labour. An increasing of price of handmade production, when

(Ebel 1986, 49) For human worker it means that their job is becoming less necessary, and they get

  • 2. Finasteride Synthesis E: Finasteride is indicated for androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness) in males who are undergoing hair loss in the crown and the anterior scalp areas (2). It has the greatest efficacy in improving the hair loss of androgenetic alopecia approved by the FDA in the current market (2). Finasteride works by precluding the activity of type 2 5 alpha reductase (2). This is the enzyme that produces DHT (dihydrotestosterone) from testosterone (2). DHT is the cause of hair thinning and subsequent hair loss due to its effect of diminishing the size of hair follicles (3). A long term study established the efficacy of finasteride in patients with greater than 30% enhancement in hair growth with visible outcome (3). This study showed that taking... However, a study noted that sexual side effects only affected 3.8% in the finasteride group while the placebo group still exhibited 2.1% of such side effects (8). In addition, a trial showed that the finasteride 1mg group (between 18 41 y/o) experienced weakened libido at 1.8% incidence versus 1.2% in the placebo group with the same age category (9). In addition, there was a report that the daily administration of finasteride 1mg may be linked to possible gynecomastia (11). However, the cause of this adverse effect in relation to finasteride intake is controversial with rare reports from few individuals who noticed the issue after 2 4 months of drug therapy (11). For minoxidil, episodes of contact dermatitis have been reported with facial hypertrichosis (6). In 1 year study, individuals using the topical minoxidil 5% solution exhibited irritation and itchiness of the affected area at 4% incidence rate (6). The same study, however, noted that 2% minoxidil group showed diminished episodes of such side effect (pruritis) at 0.6% (6). Furthermore, the propylene glycol, which may irritate the skin or induce an allergic reaction, is not part of the minoxidil foam but is included in the minoxidil solution (2,6). Thus, this foam type of topical minoxidil has shown to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Life and Representations of patron Saint Barbra Essays This report is about the patron Saint Barbra, who is the patron saint for United States artillerymen. You will read about her life, why she represents artilleryman, other things she represents, and many interesting facts about her. In my opinion she has a very interesting story to why she represents us. Though when she was born is debatable, it is believed to be in the late third century maybe early fourth century. There are several facts about her that are fairly constant in all the articles I read. She was a young beautiful woman. Who had a father who feared that his daughter would one day leave him and never return. He was a Pagan named Dioscorus. In an attempt to stop that he locked her in a tower and kept her under tight lock and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now you may be thinking to yourself how this has absolutely anything to do with artilleryman. It s simple; imagine you are in the American Revolution. Your only job is to load the cannonand light the fuse. Back at that time it was a very dangerous job because the cannon was just as likely to explode as to shot the intended projectile. Which some may consider being a sudden death? This in turn is how she is related to field artilleryman. The United States military isn t the only group that claims her for patronage. Along with artilleryman around the world she is also tradioninally the patron saint of any profession that deals with explosives. Some examples may be miners, military engineers, gunsmiths and armoires. Many Catholics who have a risk of sudden death or even a violent death pray to her to keep them safe. She is seen as an embodiment of safety all around the world. Mostly celebrated on Saint Barbra s day, which is December 4th, by Military around the world she is also celebrated through Universities and cultures. In several South American and Caribbean religions she is associated with deities of fire. All throughout north and South America she has churches named in her honor. It seems no matter where u go in the world she is celebrated. I could go on all day about the parades in Australia, the superstations in Macedonia, or even the food eaten by the Greece on ... If you are six years old or younger you would be naked right now if you lived in the Ancient Egypt time. The Egyptians had many different cultures than us. Clothings, jewelry, makeup, and etc. are some examples that were different than our culture. Clothing is very different than us. Most of the men in working classes wore either loincloth or short kilt and sometimes a type of shirt. Women wore straight dresses with one or two straps. Animal skins, above all leopard skins, worn by priests and by pharaohs. At times Kings and Queens wore ceremonial clothing adorned with feathers. Another example is the jewelry. To decorate their eyes, the Ancient Egyptians used black and green paints. The black paint was derived from powdered galena (now known as kohl) and it was supposed to protect eyes from the hot sun. The green paint was derived from malachite powder (a green coloured mineral) and was used because it would make eyes appear larger. Like many slaves, he was uncertain of his birth date. His mother, Mary, was a slave who belonged to Moses and Susan Carver. As an infant, slave raiders kidnapped his mother. The childless carvers reared George and his older brother, James. Growing up, George was captivated by plants. Many neighbors referred to him as the Plant Doctor . Since Carver was an African American, he was not accepted at any local schools, therefore he had to attend school eight miles away from home. He did very well in school. As well as creating the Farmers Institute, Carver also helped the farmers of Alabama and the southern states a great deal. An insect called the boll weevil became an enormous threat to the cotton fields of southern United States. Carver recommended to these farmers that they should substitute their cotton crops with sweet potatoes and, the more successful recommendation, peanuts. This switch would provide farmers another source of income and would also help to prevent the spread of the insect. The one problem with this solution was that no one knew what to do with all the peanut crops. Carver was quoted as saying: we can learn to synthesize materials for every human need from the things that grow. So that is what he did. In total, Carver was able to create close to three hundred different products from the peanut plant. These wide variety of products include dyes, ink, insulation, cosmetics, stock feed, medicines, glue, soap, and peanut milk. Although most of his products never became commercially sold, Carver became widely known as the Peanut Man . He also created nearly one hundred uses for the sweet potato crops. Even though George WashingtonCarver was well known throughout parts of the south, his real rise to fame started in 1916. Carver was invited to join the Royal Society for the Arts. Shortly afterward, the Carver Products Company was founded to market his many products. Carver was also honored with the medal of the National ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Swine Flu began its massive spread through Mexico in April (2009) and by June, the World Health Organization raised the alert level to a full blown pandemic across the globe. The virus has spread rapidly throughout the world. Luckily, the governments around the globe have offered an immunization flu shot against this pandemic that is available to some citizens at this present time. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his article, Swine Flu Vaccine: What Is Fair?, Gostin points out that rich countries in general will probably use their vastly superior spending power to acquire vaccines. Stockpiling by the rich, of course, leaves poor countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America much more vulnerable (11). After all, everyone needs to be protected from the dangers of H1N1 Influenza throughout the world and income should not play a role in who is vaccinated. It is a reality that every individual is just as important as the next and should have a fair chance at a vaccination. Organizations are creating the vaccines with the idea of profit in mind and this is not fair to the poorer countries around the globe. Wealthy countries are definitely more likely to acquire vaccinations in relation to poorer ones. Second, it is advisable that everyone should get vaccinated against H1N1 Influenza because it can prevent the Swine Flu from spreading any further. If the entire world s population was vaccinated against the Swine Flu, this would result in the complete control of the virus. We need to stop H1N1 Influenza in its tracks and protect all citizens from the flu regardless of their income or social class. Gostin observes that President Obama plans to spend a minuscule $350 million of Swine Flu resources for global health and child survival, and two thirds of that sum will go to ... This children s clothing retail brand began with one store in 1991, now has about 600 employees across 43 stores in New Zealand and 1000 staff in 117 stores in Australia. However, it tripped into receivership recently. At the same time, Pumpkin Patch managing director Luke Bunt said however, despite considerable efforts by the board and its management team, it has become evident that no solution is available to the company, at this time, to address the current over leveraged and significantly capital constrained position. (McNicol, 2016) This report will discuss the reasons for PPL s failure, which is supported by the research mentioned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, comparing zero interest bearing liability in 2014 with 41 million in 2015, the current liability was increased from 30 million to 72 million. It also explained why current ratio was declined from 3.04 in 2014 to 0.88 and 0.73 in 2015 and 2016 separately. The quick ratio is a more rigorous test for the company s ability to meet its short term debts than current ratio because inventory was eliminated from current assets. The quick ratio for PPL indicates serious issues as it has decreased from 0.31 in 2012 to 0.07 in 2016. The low quick ratio implies that a considerable portion of the current assets of the company is tied up as part of its inventory (Bragg, 2007), which means that the lower level of quick liquidity ratio indicates a high level of financial risk. The balance sheet for PPL (PPL, 2016) revealed that, particularly in 2016, the inventory accounted for 90% of the current assets. Therefore, the company must improve its working capital to meet its near term current liabilities. The cash conversion cycle is a result of time taken by the company for their collection from receivables (average collection period) and time needed to convert material into goods (day inventory held) after subtracting the time taken to pay its current obligation (day payable outstanding). The average collection period of account receivable and the day inventory held ratio improved in 2016 after rose to the highest days in 2014, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Windows versus Linux Windows, and Linux are very different operating systems that are also very similar in multiple ways. Windows was first sold on November 20, 1985 under the name Windows 1.0. It was revolutionary for it s time. People had been used to using command line interface to type out there commands. Windows 1.0 allowed for them to just point and click on what they wanted. Then, along came Linuxa few years later. Linux was revolutionary because it was Unix like and it was open source. Open source meant that anyone could access the source code to tailor it to their liking. This has allowed multiple different versions of Linux to be produced since then including one called Lindows. Lindows is exactly what you would expect from the name. It is a version... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Linux also started with a command line interface like Windows. There are many similarities between the two. Whether or not someone selects to use it is all based on preference. A detailed evaluation will often reveal that Windows has more features, and is easier to sue than Linux. When I took a survey of my peers it revealed that ninety percent of end users preferred to use Windows over Linux. I asked these people why they preferred Windows to be given multiple reasons. Some said that they preferred to use an operating system that was native to them since they had grown up using Windows. Others said that they liked the features better, and liked the innovations. When I asked about Lindows they said that it would just not be the same especially considering that Linux in it s native form can not run .exe applications which has become a major part of the typical end users daily application usage. Truth be told however if someone was just going to browse the internet to check e mail, and perform other miscellaneous tasks there is no distinction based on operating system. The major problem comes in when a user needs to use specific applications or software made for Windows. Linux is a valuable asset if you are looking to host a server but do not want to purchase Microsoft server which is the Windows equivalency. It is easy to use, maintain, and valuable to any network that requires a server. When it comes down to it both operating systems can do the same thing, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Disaster recovery also involves making the business whole again, from retrieving the data backups after the disaster to restoring the data on the system, and opening the doors for business again with minimal loss of time, money, and reputation. This paper discusses the implications of a non existent or inadequate plan for disaster recovery, with a particular focus on repercussions for small to medium size businesses (SMBs). Traditional disaster recovery plans are discussed in terms of physical space required, costs of equipment needed as the business grows, and the time for recovery needed when a disaster occurs. The paper reviews the option of using the Cloud for disaster recovery. Specifically, the advantages of increased speed for data recovery, reduced equipment expenses, increased security, and scalability are discussed, along with any challenges to be faced when choosing the Cloud for disaster recovery. Disaster Recovery in the Cloud Why plan for something that may never happen? Many companies ask this question when the topic of disaster recovery is mentioned. However, in this age of security breaches from outside the company or errors committed by untrained employees within the company, it is not really a question of if a disaster will occur, but rather of when. In From packing for Space they say that it is expensive because its 500 billion dollars. This is important because it would be most of our valuable resources going into the fund. Crime is an act against the Law (robbery, murder etc), thus the act is known as illegal, whereas Deviance is an act that is not against the Law but an act seen as abnormal and going against the norms values o f Society, such as cross dressing etc. Marx developed the idea of Marxism(a conflict theory between Upper and Lower social classes) in the 18th Century, when social classes were very clearly defined the Bourgeois and the Proletariat . Relative deprivation is a crucial concept to Left Realism, and is perhaps the most easily identifiable Marxist idea in Left Realism. Relative deprivation is not the deprivation of money etc. but being deprived of something to which one believes oneself to be entitled to have, and Left Realist s believe it is relative, not material deprivation that causes crime, and following the Idea of Merton s strain theory, people commit crime to gain what they think they are deprived of. Young began the idea of a Bulimic Society , where expensive products, obtainable easily only by the upper classes and presented daily and rigorously presented to the working class via the Media. Therefore, the Media is seen as the fuel to relative deprivation, and consequently the root of crime and deviance within Society. Like all theories, Left Realism has its share of criticisms, such as ignoring white collar crime, overzealous in their predictions of the level of crime and over reliance on Victim Survey s, which are too subjective to be taken as concrete data. Stress can lead to many dangerous health problems and can strain relationships with other people. People in the United States stress over many of the same issues. I stress about school, work, family issues, and social life. School causes me to stress more than any of the other issues. I attend college classes five days of the week and I commute an hour to Kentucky Wesleyan and an hour back home every day. I just started college and every week I receive many assignments and test. In most classes, test consist of a big part of my grade, so doing well on test will help me pass and will help me stress less. In order, to manage the stress that test cause me, I will need to use a proactive strategy to combat the stress of the test. A proactive strategy is a strategy to cope with the stressor. Since, I cannot eliminate the test I need to cope with them. A way to do that is to study the test material for thirty minutes every night to ensure I know the material. Also, I stress over assignments. College assignments differ from high school assignments. Professors expect more from your work than high school teachers do, therefore it makes the assignment more stressful. • 16. A Brief Note On Malpractice And Liability Issues Malpractice and liability are touchy topics when they relate to the profession of social work. Ignorance and good intentions are no longer acceptable excuses whenever a social worker makes a serious mistake within their practice. Practitioners are required to seek out knowledge in order to prevent malpractice suits and unethical behavior (Dolgoff et. al, 2012). One of the biggest causes of malpractice suits when dealing with technology is confidentiality breaches. It is easier to break confidentiality when you are using systems that are not always 100 percent secure and private. Reamer (2013) mentions that social workers must be knowledgeable on all forms of digital media that use in their practice. Many malpractice suits could have been prevented if the worker had more knowledge on the issue involved. An issue can be unethical, but legal and vice versa (Dolgoff et. al, 2012). For example, not properly maintaining records is not considered a crime, but is unethical within the social workprofession. Another example would be a worker refusing to send a child back to a home where the child is being sexually assaulted after the court made the order to do so. I would not see this as unethical because the worker is advocating for the safety of the child, but it would be viewed as a crime in the eyes of society Some other malpractice suits that can arise when incorporating electronic media into traditional treatment include: abandonedment, improper documentation, ... • 20. Effects Training Has on Muscle Cell Hypertrophy As discussed in paper one, readers can see the complexity that lies behind muscle fibers and the contractile units that make up each muscle cell. At the normal physiology level, muscle fibers exist as complex bundles of small muscle filaments. These filaments, known as actin and myosin bind in such a way that allows for sarcomere contraction. In assistance with calcium flowing into muscle cells, proteins known as tropomyosin and troponin ultimately allow cross bridging to occur. Throughout the body three types of muscle fibers exist, these types of fibers are slow oxidative, fast oxidative and fast glycolytic. Activation or recruitment of these fibers varies from person to person depending on the muscle specificity needed to perform a given contraction. In other words the innervation of each fiber depends solely on the muscle needed to engage in a specific exercise. By first knowing the anatomy behind a muscle cell one can then have a better understanding of the effects training has on muscle cell hypertrophy. The two primary functions of skeletal muscle is to contract to cause force, and to provide stability to the body. During exercise each muscle must be able to contract in response to the stress or tension on that muscle. The idea behind muscle hypertrophy is that as a progressive overload of stress is applied to the muscle, it is able to adapt by increasing the size and number of contractile proteins making up the muscle fiber. Although hazing was instituted a few centuries ago, its prominence can still be seen in modern day society. For that reason, this paper will examine three areas that includes the background of hazing, the viewpoint comparison on hazingthrough two peer reviewed articles, and why hazing is still controversial in the present day. Background of Hazing According to Parks, Jones, Ray, Hughey, and Cox (2015), hazing as part of a rite of passage process dates back to the beginning of mankind with the first documented instances of organized hazing coming from ancient Greece, where prospective soldiers demonstrated their loyalty through painful and uncomfortable experiences ... (Heibert Klatt, 2001, p. 170 2; p. 17) Keep in mind that Waldron s (2012) suggestions for reducing hazing may have little influence due to the countervailing force of peer pressure (Edelman, 2005, p. 328). Therefore, it is highly unlikely that this contradictory approach will succeed using a short range tactic to replace a long range strategy (Fallacies, 2006, More..., para. 1 42; Heibert Klatt, 2001, p. 170 2). Hence, further discussions are needed to determine which author(s) presented the stronger argument. Taking all this into account, Waldron (2012) has presented a stronger argument than Josefowitz and Gadon (1989). The reason for this is due to Waldron (2012) maintaining a neutral position, while presenting strong scientific evidence on the subject of hazing. Also, the statistics presented by Waldron (2012) did not have any fallacies when compared to that of Josefowitz and Gadon (1989) (Fallacies, 2006, More..., para. 1 42). Based upon these differences and how society has changed its cultural stance on hazing, Waldron (2012) has clearly given the better argument and solution for stopping hazing. If investment increases, demand in the economy will increase, resulting in increased demand for labour, raise in wages, and more disposal income (HMRC HM Treasury, 2013). Therefore, low tax liability has a positive impact on both the company and economy s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). To encourage companies, grow the UK economy and create jobs, the UK government has reduced the main tax rate from 28% in 2010 to 21% in 2014 (HM Treasury, 2013, 2014). It is argued that reduction in tax rates will ease tax burden for businesses and reduce employment costs therefore, stimulating investment (HM Treasury Osborne, 2014). See (Appendix 3) for CT rates and effect on CT liability. Another example, in 2014, Wood reported that Boots Alliance had benefited from the series of tax cuts to CT rate. Their profits increased by 16%, easing the tax burden by eliminating more than ВЈ100m off CT liability. However, reduction in corporation tax rates may mean less revenue collected by government from CT. In 2014, Houlder reported that businesses will pay approximately ВЈ8bn less CT a year by 2016 17. I think now is a perfect time to bring up the matter because I am older and you guys need a new friend to keep you company on those long months when I am away. I would like to bring up the discussion of getting a dog once again. Maybe you will huff in frustration due to my constant nagging on the subject or smile at my determination or simply ignore this subject completely. But I still would like to bring up this subject because I think a dog could benefit the whole family. I am going to take a big breath and discuss all of the benefits that a dog would bring to our loving family. To begin, getting a dog would mean adding an extra friend to our family. Getting a dog would mean always having a friendly, furry, furiously wagging tailed friend smile at you every time you walk in the house. The joy and excitement that our dog will show you every time you come home from a long days work will help you guys relax and be excited to spend the rest of the day with your furry ... • 40. Happiness Vs Happiness Happiness is an emotion that many individuals try to search for throughout their lives, whereas people view happiness as an essential factor in living a quality life. All over the world, there are individuals who believe that they can find true joy through distancing oneself from social interactions and by living life independently. Many believe that this is true because you are allowed to make your own choices when living independently. When we are independent, we tend to make choices that surround ourselves. In addition, the choices that we make as independent individuals tends to be selfish and egocentric. To this, these choices are selfish because we are independent and only worry about our own selves. Although living life independently may seem as a road to happiness, it is not the way to live. An individual should live life compassionately and surround themselves with people they cherish. To live life compassionately, we should be understanding of other individual s and show empathy. Each and every individual experiences different upbringings that make us unique. Often when we re uncompassionate, we tend to misunderstand other individuals because we hold them up to our own moral standards. Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone.... remember that all the people in this world haven t had the advantages that you ve had (Fitzgerald 1). Without compassion, we are quick to assume and judge other individuals, whereas we only think of ourselves. When being consumed with our own thoughts and own well being, we become self centered individuals with our default settings on. In This Is Water, Wallace defines these default settings as the, unconscious belief that I am the center of the world and that my immediate needs... determine the world s priorities (Wallace 236). Contrary to the thoughts of self centered individuals, we are not the center of the world. As individuals that live in a world with an abundant amount of other individuals, it s essential to not maintain an aura of selfishness. While it is true that living compassionately isn t always easy, a compassionate lifestyle is still essential to develop a kindhearted character. Those who oppose a life of compassion may argue that to feel emotion and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Codifications and further developments of existing religious traditions provided a bond among the people and an ethical code to live by. Religion has been a dominant cultural, ethical, and political force throughout human history, both recent and ancient. Religion has been science and asylum for many generations of very many people, uniting them in their common faith. Temples were built for people to pray and perform sacrifice in, giving the people a common cause to live for and thereby creating personal relations between people even before you got to know them. The unique features of ancient religions were that they were all polytheistic, meaning that they recognized many gods, instead of one main one. And the problem with this was that in the ancient history, before the invention of writing, nothing was written down: stories were told verbally, laws were passed on verbally, and writing things down was an incredible task for the ancient people, and gave incredible glory to the people that did it, because if it s written down, it s much easier to spread your beliefs and it s harder to forget specifics of your religion or law. Writing down religious and political texts has greatly facilitated the religions diffusion and spread throughout the globe, and consequently, brought together and apart many more religious people and governments. Is he actually important and necessary in Greek mythology? Does his danger outweigh his importance and necessity? What is the play telling us about sanity and insanity? There have been so many similarities throughout history noted between Dionysus in The Bacchae and Jesus in The Bible. Some similarities include their births, people wanting to kill them as infants, others disbelief that they are gods, the persecution because others do not believe in their divinity, and their rebirths. Both gods were born to virgins and miraculously conceived without sex. When Semele told others about her pregnancy, she was mocked. They said that Dionysus was no son of Zeus, but Semele had slept beside a man in love. Cadmus lied to protect his daughter s name. (Euripides 20, 28). In Norfolk, the average length was between 21 and 25 millimeters, yet in Beaufort the size was 13 to 17 millimeters. It was then that Federighi began to look into the effects of salinity. Immediately, the temperature of the two places could be ruled out as the cause for this size variation because the temperature doesn t really vary between the two places. However, the salinity of the two areas do differ greatly. The results of his experiment indicated that the snails grow larger in brackish water, water that has more salinity than freshwater, but less than seawater. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people have preconceived ideas about what types of people get HIV/AIDS and can be stubborn and unaccepting. Terrace McNally elicits empathyfrom the audienceby using literary devices including; the unique characteristics of Andre s Mother, and the balloons symbolizing Andre s soul. I am very compassionate about the topic because my sister is HIV positive. I know that she has been through a lot, and people have treated her differently because of it. However, she is still the same person. Terrace McNally decided to make the character of Andre s Mother nameless. Choosing not to give her a name leaves room for the reader to imagine why she is nameless. Giving a character a name makes them more personable, leaving a character unnamed would usually make them less memorable. It is difficult to remember much about a character that you can not address by name. However, in this situation, being nameless creates a distinct and intriguing character. It forces the audience to question why these choices were made, and this allows the audience to use their imagination and think about what type of person Andre s Mother was. • 49. Healthcare Reform And Health Care Reform As evidenced by the constant battle over health care reform, healthcare in the United States has become a growing problem that must be addressed. While the main controversy seems to be the politics of healthcare reform and whether the government should have total control, the one thing that I believe should be the focus, is the quality of care that is embedded in the patient doctor relationship. It s quite troublesome when large health insurancecompanies are swaying politicians to vote for less healthcare regulation and higher premiums rather than focusing on the quality of care and the importance of the patient doctor relationship, which has become overshadowed. That is why I believe it is important to look at and consider how health care reform such as the PPACA and policies implemented by private insurance companies have affected the doctor patient relationship and thereby influenced the quality of medical care. One of the many reasons that I find this an interesting and important topic is because I aspire to work in the medical field and the interaction between patients and doctors is important for me to consider and determine how it has changed, whether it be for better or worse, throughout the years as a result of added regulations and new reforms. Introduction The immediate aim of this study is to examine whether participants perception of primed facial expressions is influenced more by the emotions elicited from music, or words played during the rating of the faces. This experiment will also aim to study how participants empathy and state trait levels will change the way that the music/words effects their rating of primed neutral faces. The time that the participants take to rate each face will also be measured as a reaction time to see if the mood induced by the music will have any effect on the time it takes to assess each face. If this study can dissociate the effects of music and semantics on the rating of faces then we can conclude that we use separate mechanisms in the generating of emotionality. Studying the difference in the effects of semantics vs music on emotions will allow us to determine which medium has a large effect over ones emotions, and just how significant this difference is. It is widely accepted in the scientific community that music can influence our emotions, this is the reason that films are heavily reliant on the score to help influence the viewers emotions in order to make the film a more engaging, emotional experience. It can be argued, that although the President s aspirations are both honorable and praiseworthy, there are ground realities that make the execution of this plan, as well as wide acceptability of the project rather challenging. First and foremost, it is important to explore what steps the Obama administration have taken themselves in order to work towards achieving nuclear disarmament and if these have been substantial. It has now been seven years since the President gave his speech in Prague. A year after his speech, in April 6 2010, the Obama administration released a Nuclear Posture Review (NPR). This is so because the dominant culture attempts to keep women and African Americans in their place . First off, there is physical intimidation and threats of violence against both groups. The idea that males need to protect women suggests that women are incapable of taking care of themselves. Second, there is domination of the economic status of both African Americans and women by white, dominant, masculine hierarchies of power.
