The Rise Of Anabaptism
I, John van Leiden, King of Munster, was a devout Anabaptist for much of my life, and did
whatever I could to spread the ideas that went along with my faith. Throughout my time, I made
many enemies, but I also made alliances that helped to increase the Anabaptist following. I was
a feared ruler, but I did what I believed to be right in order to invoke the second coming of Jesus
Christ. Despite my eventual title as the King of Munster, my life did not start off so nicely. I
was born in a small village just outside of Leiden, in Holland. My mother and I were shunned
when we were in public, seeing as I was born out of wedlock (Arthur 6). Most people did not want
to be seen interacting with us because having illegitimate children was highly... Show more content

I quickly solved that problem, and just three months later, I was the supreme leader of the city
of Munster ( John of Leiden ). With my newfound powers, I created many new laws and
regulations that followed the rules laid out in the Bible. I was a strict ruler, anyone who
questioned my rule or refused to follow the biblical law would have to face punishment, because
they were out of line. One of my favorite laws that I put in place brought back an idea from the
Old Testament: Polygamy (Palmer et al. 80). By the time I had made Munster my permanent
residence, I already had two wives, neither of whom know about the other (Arthur 70 71). With
polygamy now legal, men were having competitions to see who could have the most wives, so I
took it upon myself to marry fourteen other women in just over a year because I had to be the
best, seeing as I was the king (103). With all of the new laws that I had created, as well as my
harsh punishments for anyone who disobeyed me, I was a force to be reckoned with. I was so
intimidating that Martin Luther, the man behind the Reformation, told his Protestant followers to
join forces with the Catholics they were trying to separate from, in order to try and stop me
(Palmer et al. 80). While I was able to hold onto control of Munster for a while, eventually
opposing forces managed to sneak through the guarded

The Influence of Music
Introduction to Music GEN1621
Major Writing Assignment
The Influence of Music
Almaty, 2011
Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to
everything. (Plato, 428 348 BC )
Music is inseparable part of our everyday life; we can face it in every corner of our town, on TV
commercial, films, radio etc. Music can be understood everywhere, even if you cannot speak the
language of other countries, but you move, dance, sing and enjoy the music while listening to it.
We may not understand the words of a musical selection but we do understand the beauty of songs.
We cannot avoid it and we cannot disclaim that music has an impact on human s behavior, mood
and attitudes. Music can affect us in ways ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, the second question of the chart would be: How does music affect consumer behavior? It is
a simple fact that most music of today is composed, distributed, sold and bought, performed and
listened to for some commercial purposes. One of the main purposes is selling. Nowadays the
main concept of this modern world is to make more money, as everybody knows; customers are
the main source of the companies income, whether you make products, goods or service.
Moreover, managers and marketers try to attract more consumers by using different tricks. One of
them is to influence customers behavior by music and sounds. First of all, on an average day, the
average person watches an hour and a half of the commercial television stations, of which fifteen
minutes will be made up solely of advertisements. Approximately half of all advertisements will
have music (Fellows, 1998, para.1). Good music can contribute to the effectiveness of an
advertisement by making it more attractive. A good music engages the attention of an audience,
evoke emotions and sometimes make audience to dance and sing. Music plays an important role in
marketing business, by appealing customers through their emotions, as it was mentioned before. In
this case, music should send messages about products brand name, shape, and even taste etc. For
example, according to Michael Morrison (2009),

Yellow Perch Research Paper
Average Yellow Perch length (TL) ranged from 87 (age 1) to 223mm (age 5), whereas,
Pumpkinseed length ranged from 47mm (age 1) to 194mm (age 6) which is similar to other
findings in many lakes in North America (Scott Crossman 1998; Pierce, Rasmussen, Leggett
1990). Pumpkinseed growth was constant for the first 4 5 years, then began to slow, whereas,
growth in Yellow perch was constant for the first 2 3 years and began to slow which is similar to
other studies (Copp, et al. 2004; Lauer Doll 2007). This may be due to maturation age when energy
is allocated to reproduction(Roff 1983). Purchase et al. (2005) studied life history traits of Yellow
Perch in many Ontario lakes and found that Yellow Perch mature around age 2 (Purchase et al.
2005). Maturation age in Pumpkinseed is variable between lakes, but many reach maturity in their
third year (Copp et al. 2004). Our results indicate that Pumpkinseed in this population may mature
later since growth doesn t appear to slow until after age 4 5 years.... Show more content on

This is consistent with other studies involving Yellow Perch and Pumpkinseed (Copp, et al. 2004;
Vandergoot, Bur Powell 2008). Pumpkinseed spawn in June and July when temperatures reach
20ВєC (Justus Fox 1994), whereas, Yellow Perch spawn in April and May when the temperature is
12ВєC 14ВєC (Kolkovski Dabrowski 2011). Since Yellow Perch are born earlier than
Pumpkinseed, they have more time to grow and would be larger than Pumpkinseed in their first
year. Yellow perch also underwent faster growth than Pumpkinseed which accounts for the larger

John P. Kotter s Eight Stages Of Change
Introduction
The definition of change according to the Webster dictionary is to become different or to make
someone or something different. John P Kotter writes that change is always about changing the
behavior of people (preface XII) Kotter explains that change is a concept that is used by
organizations to restructure or improve their business behavior. Many companies find it difficult to
initiate change due to the lack of motivate employees or leaders. In his book Kotter proposes eight
stage process that could help organizations that are looking for change.
Discussion
The Eight important stages of change by John P. Kotter
Stage one: Establishing a Sense of Urgency
In this stage Kotter shares business stories of successful companies that increased urgency to spark
a change. He explains that there are four behaviors which could prevent change. Behaviors like
complacency, immobilization, self protection, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explains that when the right team is not there changes will not happen. Those who should be
driving change are not doing their job, and nobody wants to confront the issue, (Kotter and Cohen,
p38) if the team itself is fragmented and it is not functioning properly improvement and change at
the work environment will never happen. To create effective teams you need the right people that
can work together as a team. Kotten list four ingredients that are important to create a good team
on page 46 of Kotter and Cohen book:
A single individual who feels great urgency usually pulls in the first people.
Individuals are selected to have the right combination of capabilities within the team.
The team is created by pulling people in and occasionally pushing people out.
As change progresses throughout large organizations, additional group are formed at lower levels.
These teams help drive action within their

were the first African American Fighting group that flew combat missions for the United States
military in World War II. Throughout their time overseas they were breaking down racial barriers
by proving that colored men can fly a plane just as well as their white aviation counterparts. In
order to get their chance to prove that they were able to serve their country, many things had to go
right before they were allowed to take their wheels off the ground. They faced constant
discrimination but because of that discrimination they were able to conquer the stereotypes and rise

This was a huge stop on the way to success of having the first class of recruits leave the airfields
and move into combat. The wife of the president gave encouragement and fully backed the
Tuskegee Airmen and gave them determination and consequently the space to push out the first
class of recruits.
Before this could happen there were a few problems on the camp that the recruits had to
overcome. One of which being Colonel Von Kimble. As the commanding officer on the base, he
oversaw the day to day operations of the entire base including, the training regimen and schedule
of the current recruits. Von Kimble was a white man that was not very supportive of the program
making it near impossible for expansion and advanced training to occur on the base. Col. Edward
Glenn makes the point in his interview with Studs Terkel that even on the base in training the
whites ate separately then the blacks . Von Kimble kept tight to the law of the land Alabama and
did not deviate from the mentality that the southerners had adopted throughout the the
decades.(Terkel) In December of 1942 Lt. Col. Parrish became the director of operations due to
this, Von Kimble was relieved of his duties. Lt. Col. Parrish was much more cognizant of
segregation and pushed for a completely desegregated airfield. (Historynet) He refused to cut
corners and was determined to see the recruits as nothing more than trainees and not races. This
determination and resilience helped to

Caproic Acid Synthesis Essay
Introduction In this lab, caproic acid was synthesized in a multi step process that involved the
synthesis of three intermediates diethyl n butylmalonate, potassium n butylmalonate, and n butyl
malonic acid respectively. An IR was used to characterize the starting material, n bromobutane, and
the first intermediate, diethyl n butylmalonate; while IR and NMR were used to characterize the
final product, caproic acid.
Reactions, Mechanism and Theory
Caproic acid a.k.a n hexanoic acid is a carboxylic acid derived from hexane which has the general
formula C5H11COOH. It is a colorless oily liquid with a really pungent odor associated with goats.

An Analysis OfOn Bullshit, By Max Black

On Bullshit
In On Bullshit, Harry G. Frankfurt, a professor at Princeton University discusses the concept of
bullshit from his standpoint. He begins his essay by stating, One of the most salient features of our
culture is that there is so much bullshit (117). Since Frankfurt doubts that most people are rather
confident of their ability to recognize bullshit and to avoid being taken in by it (117), he provides a
theoretical understanding of bullshit. The big question being asked throughout this argument is
when, if ever, is bullshitting seriously morally wrong and why? And what exactly is so important
about caring about, respecting, and telling the truth? Aspects of bullshit are discussed with
reference to the Oxford English Dictionary, Wittgenstein, and Saint Augustine. There are three
points made throughout the essay that seem to be crucially important the difference between lying
and bullshitting, the question of why there is so much bullshit in society today, and an analysis of
sincerity.
Frankfurt begins his search for the meaning of bullshit by comparing it to the word humbug, and
referencing the work The Prevalence of Humbug by Max Black. Black gives the definition of
humbug: deceptive misrepresentation, short of lying, especially by pretentious word or deed, of
somebody s own thoughts, feelings, or attitudes. (118). By examining the definition of a related
term, Frankfurt begins his argument

Robert Frost Literary Devices
In Robert Frost s Mowing , Robert Frost uses many unique literary techniques to address complex
reflections. Mowing examines the thoughts of a speaker that, while mowing some hay, believes that
a scythe is whispering. As the speaker debates whether it is fantasy or reality, the overall theme of
reality being the sane and comforting approach is developed through various stylistic techniques.
As the reader initially reads Mowing , an initial observation is Frost s use of repetition. In the
entirety of the poem, Frost emphasizes the word whisper . The writer does this primarily to
distinguish the action of the scythe, which is what the purpose of the poem revolves around.
Although that being true, Frost uses repetition in another innovative manner. To comprehend Frost
s innovation and fascinating stylistic technique, it is essential to understand the manner in which a
scythe works. A scythe is an instrument that has a long blade that cuts hay in a circular motion. The
significance of the movement of this instrument is that in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, the very use of the word scythe is intriguing to the reader. Due to the current era
and the different lifestyle that is lived nowadays, a scythe may seem to be a strange and a never
before heard of word to some readers. To add to the variety, Frost uses the word fay in line 8. At
the initial reading, this words stands out. It is almost certain that the word fay is not a word that
is used in the daily vocabulary of our current society. The value of Frost using words that further
invite the reader to ponder is that it adds much more depth to the meaning. Frost s implementation
of words like swale and orchises encourages the reader to seek the definition of said words, either
through evaluation of the text or through a literary supplement, and to reflect on the words relation
to the meaning of the piece as a

Timothy Mcveigh s Invictus
Timothy McVeigh was quoted the famous poem, Invictus, saying I am the master of my fate: I am
the captain of my soul . McVeigh believed in many things; one being that government was planning
to strip it s citizens of their rights. As McVeigh hatred for the government grew so did the outcome
of his actions. After the Waco Siegemassacre, which involved the accidental burning of an
isolated compound that took the lives of seventy six members of a religious cult in Texas,
McVeigh wrath against the government was boiling. It was at this time that McVeigh planned to
carry out one of the worst terrorist attacks ever on US soil. It is often told that in the last moments
of someone s life remorse and shame are visibly expressed on an individual s face; however, in the
execution of domestic terrorist, Timothy McVeigh, that was not the case. Timothy McVeigh was
raised the small working class town of Pendleton, New York. Since Pendleton was a small town,
McVeigh generally had very few things to do therefore he often spent his spare time at football
games, the bowling alley, or at a bingo event. Timothy was raised by his father during his
adolescence after his parents got a divorce after years of a rocky marriage (source 6). It was during
this time that Timothy formed a strong relationship with his grandfather, who first introduced him
to guns. Shortly after the beginning of his gun obsession, Timothy would read The Turner Diaries

Black Panther Physiology
The Black Panther breathes just like the humans. Panthers use their lungs to breathe in and out.
The breathing starts at the nose and their mouth. It then, travels down to the back of their throat,
into the trachea. The trachea is a long tube in the panther s neck that goes all the way through
their chest, that carries air out and into their lungs. After that, the trachea divides into smaller
passages called bronchial tubes. Bronchial tubes, are the tubes that carry air into the lungs of the
panthers. Then, the bronchioles end in balloon air sacs called alveoli. Alveoli are surrounded by a
group of blood vessels that are called capillaries. Black Panther s capillaries connect arterioles.

Cna Code Of Ethics For Registered Nurses
CNA Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses (2008) provides guidance in dealing with cases like
this by explaining the core nursing values and responsibilities involved which are: a) providing
safe, compassionate, competent and ethical care; b) promoting health and well being; c)
promoting and respecting informed decision making, and d) Preserving dignity; e) maintaining
confidentiality, f) promoting justice and g) being accountable. The first nursing value is always
expected to be upheld in any case because it is their duty to provide care using appropriate safety
precautions and preventing/minimizing all forms of violence (CNA, 2008). The collaboration of
the nurses between the physician and Mr. C s family has been evident since then. This therefore
calls Mr. C s nurses to be more compassionate about his situation and try to recognize where he is
coming from as they build a trust worthy relationship before judging him or jumping into
conclusions like he does not want to live anymore. Even if he decides to withdraw from these
potentially life sustaining treatments, healthcare providers are still obliged to give him the care he
need the best way they can up until the end of his life. The second nursing value, just like the
first one, still calls nurses to still aim to promote or at least maintain Mr. C s health and well
being to the highest possible level regardless of the path he had chosen for his life. This can be
achieved by continuing to collaborate well with other

The Importance Of Trojans In The Trojan War
Virgil first depicts humans as unthoughtful through the ignorance of the Trojans. In Virgil s story,
during the Trojan War, the Greeks have a plan to hide their men inside of a giant wooden horse to
get inside the city of Troy. When this enormous gift shows up in Troy, few people are suspicious,
and most people want to accept the gift. The men of Troyreceive many warnings, but still end up
taking the horse into the walls of their city. Laocoön, a Trojan priest, tries to assist the Trojans
and tells them, Men of Troy, what madness has come over you?/Can you believe the enemy had
truly gone?/A gift from the Danaans, and no ruse? (II. 59 61) This priest was the first to
legitimately question the gift, and even after hearing this warning from someone so wise, the
Trojans decided to accept the gift into their city. If the Trojans would have listened to the priest,
they could have won the war and saved many lives. Instead of thinking through why their enemy
would give them such a present, the men acted impulsively and completely misjudged the situation.
Not only did the Trojans receive warnings about the horse from their own friends, but the blindly
trusted a man they knew nothing about. As the Trojans were contemplating their decision, the
Greeks sent a secret weapon to trick them. Sinon, a sneaky Greek, showed up to the gates of Troy
ready to convince the Trojans to accept the Greek s gift. Sinon is introduced as an unknown

The Campaign, A Good And Positive Light
Identity As we created this campaign, we developed several themes, symbols, motives and values
in order to bring the project together and ensure the audience would receive it favorably, or in a
beneficial and positive light. In the campaign, there are two primary themes, the first of which is
recognition. In general, KULT is an unknown and ambiguous organization that needs to build a
brand or an image for itself among students. The second theme of the campaign is unity. KULT
wants to be seen as an organization that offers specific services and content to students who listen
to the station or work for it. The goal of the campaign, then, is to provide a unified message to the
audience showing exactly what KULT is, what it can do for students, and what it means to be
involved. The message will unify the student body by presenting these facts, creating a sense of
understanding and interest in the station. These two themes are carried out in several ways. Our
motive is to bring students together in recognizing and understanding KULT so they can not only
enjoy it, but take advantage of it. Our values are focused around those of KULT: offering something
new and fun to benefit the panther community in whatever ways they can and building a
community in the station. We bring these elements together with a symbol: a new logo for KULT.
By tying these elements together and promoting them through the message and new logo, people
will have a better understanding of KULT and its

Monsanto, Agent Of Change

Monsanto, Agent of Change. Things have been changing quickly in our world. GMOs have
developed at an alarming pace, and are now being credited with being able to save millions from
starvation. Seeds can be patented, when only a few years ago there were only public seed. The
atomic bomb has been created and improved, and has the potency to wipe out all the life on our
delicate planet. All these inventions and more can be attributed, in some way or another, to a
chemical company called Monsanto. The Monsanto Company is an institution whose impact in the
areas of chemicals and food has become a massive game changer, but is also causing potentially
dangerous side effects and consequences. The Monsanto Company was originally a strictly
chemical company. John Queeny founded the company, using his wife s maiden name, Monsanto .
In 1940 the company created its first highly controversial chemical Agent Orange and the
company s popularity exploded. (Mahtani) Agent Orange is an herbicide that Monsanto created
and it was first used in the Vietnam War. US airplanes, helicopters, boats, trucks, and manual

plants to wither away and no longer hide guerilla fighters. The US Military also sprayed enemy

What Is The History Of Betty Friedan And The Feminist...
Throughout history, many women have engaged in playing a bigger role in the society. They
have strived for expansion of their power in the nation. The greatest battle for them was in the
1960s. There were very limited things they could do. A woman at this time period was expected
to get married by the age of 20 and dedicate the rest of her life to her husband and homemaking.
She was expected a lot only to take care of her kids and husband. They had no legal right to her
husband earning or property but the husband had legal rights to his wife properties. They were
never welcomed to professional jobs like doctor, lawyer, and engineer. Even if they did get a job
they were discriminated and paid really low wages. They were never given the opportunities to
achieve jobs that would pay them higher because they thought they would be pregnant and quit the
jobs and they do not have a family that needs financial support, unlike males. All of these caused the
feminist movement where they fought for more freedom for girls and less restriction put into them.
Betty Friedan who was born in February 4,1921in Peoria Illinois. She was an American writer,
Activist, and feminist. In 1966, she was co founded and elected as the first president of the National

At first, it can increase the reliability of the financial statements because outside of the company
auditors prove the financial reports are correct, so investors are persuaded the financial information

company spends much time to editing and check it many times to find the mistakes and fix it to

companies must spend much money on the act such as paying for auditors and internal control

The Characteristics Of The Mixing Patterns Are Determined...
According to Muysken, many of the characteristics of the mixing patterns are determined by the
structural features of language (Muysken, 2000; p. 2). Using the grammatical approach in analysing
CS, Muysken identifies three major categories of code mixing; insertion, alternation and congruent
lexicalization code mixing. Insertional involves the insertion of material (lexical items or entire
constituents) from one language into a structure from the other language and alternational CS
refers to alternation between structures from languages where two languages are present in the
same clause but remain relatively separate (ibid; p.3).
The distinction between insertion and alternation is paramount for the analysis of CS as it
analytically differentiates between different events of CS: one that involves only the use of one
main language where a foreign word is inserted into the structure or another where two grammatical
systems alternate in the construction of a single utterance.
In his work on analysing the patterns of CS, rather than presenting definite criteria for each of the
pattern, Muysken acknowledges that the differences between insertion and alternation are gradual
and can transition into each other (2000; p.10). However, he managed to identify several
environments where insertion or alternation is most likely to happen. In insertion, what is inserted
is a constituent: a constituent can be any syntactic unit, either a lexical item or a phrase. According

Robert Smithson s Spiral Jetty
In 1970, Robert Smithson created the Spiral Jetty with dump trucks, front loaders, and a tractor to
move the basalt stones and sand. The Spiral Jetty is located near the Great Salt Lake of Utah.
Smithson created this piece so that the land and the water could meet. This artwork is supposed to
change over time in response to the environment. Robert Smithson represents the idea of entropy in
the Spiral Jetty. Therefore, this landscape looks different than whenever it was first established.
The Spiral Jetty is located at a terminal basin, which is a freshwater place with no outlet. Whenever
it is done flowing it will evaporate. So the water is dense with minerals causing the high amount of

Pros And Cons Of Helicopter Parents Fear For The Future
Helicopter Parents Fear for The Future A parent who takes an overprotected or excessive interest

Benefits Of Farina
Meta description: What is Farina exactly? This is the common question asked by people thinking
about their diet. In this article, we explain the nutritional benefits of Farina and why it is healthy for
us.
What is Farina? The Healthier Version of Cereals
First, what is Farina? Farina is milled grains of cereal, most typically wheat. Farina is a Latin
word which means meal or flour. It comes from the inner portion of wheat kernels and is said to be
the germ and endosperm of the grain. The grains are crushed into a fine granular consistency and
then filtered.
Farina has a very bland taste, which makes it adaptable to a variety of toppings when eaten as a
hot cereal, the classic preparation. Because it has been finely ground, it can be cooked quickly,
which also makes it a popular choice for hot cereal. Due to its mild taste, the cooked cereal is
typically flavored with brown sugar, honey, fruits, maple syrup, butter, chocolate, salt, jams, and
cinnamon, or sometimes several of these toppings combined. ... Show more content on

It is sometimes white in color, which means it must be processed. Therefore, when buying this
type of Farina, you should check the source as well read the ingredients. Farina can part of the
wheat flour used in baked goods. Given the grain s strong protein value, so when used in this way it
enhances the food s nutritional qualities.
What nutritional qualities is Farina rich in?
Farina is a highly rich source of carbohydrates. If the wheat has been enriched, it becomes the best
food source for nutritional iron. This is especially important for vegetarian diets, with some brands
providing as much as 50% of the recommended daily amount with a single 120 calorie serving.
Unlike commercial cereals, the fiber and best part of the germ are separated, and the germ is
sometimes enriched with Vitamin B and

If a child has a language delay, then they will not develop language skills as fast as their peers.
This means that a language delay is associated with development issues. However, most are able to
catch up with everyone else by the time they get to preschool. In the article I found, from the
National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, it describes a Specific
Language Impairment as a disorder of language in which the accomplishment of language skills is
delayed in children exhibiting no hearing loss or no other developmental delays. This means a
Specific Language Impairment is not related to development. Further, according to the article I

A Report On The Disease
Introduction The disease discussed in this article is eumycetoma, a chronic granulomatous
subcutaneous infectious disease that is endemic in the mycetoma belt of 30 degrees North to 15
degrees South of the equator (Hellemond et al., 2013). Sudan has the highest country wide
prevalence of eumycetoma, with 2% of the population being infected in the endemic villages in the
Gezira area (Ahmed et al., 2004). Although mycetoma can be caused by various bacteria and fungi
agents, the majority of mycetoma cases in Sudan, which is around 70%, are caused by the fungus
Madurella mycetomatis (eumycetoma) (Hellemond et al., 2013). Nonetheless, while most people

Schistosomiasis can even convert an already established Th1 response to a Th 2 response.
Furthermore, in eumycetoma endemic countries schistosomiasis is often a chronic disease that
lasts the duration of a person s life, and this could lead to a persistent Th2 type immune response
(Hellemond et al., 2013).Thus, if Schistosomiasis predisposes the development of eumycetoma,
efforts to eradicate Schistosoma in a population could also lower the number of eumycetoma cases.
If this is the case, then intervention strategies could be developed to target both Schistosoma and
eumycetoma in a population. Hypothesis The primary association examined in this study is the
relationship between a Th2 type immune response and the susceptibility to eumycetoma.
Hellemond et al. (2013) have previously shown that eumycetoma patients increased concentrations
of IL 10 circulating in their bodies. Thus, it is hypothesized that an infection of schistosomiasis,
which induces a Th2 type response that is accompanied by increased levels of IL 10, might
increase the susceptibility of a patient to eumycetoma. However, toxoplasmosis, which induces a
Th1 type immune response, should not be associated with increased susceptibility to eumycetoma.
Methods and Materials Hellemond et al. (2013) collected 84 serum samples from the endemic
areas of Sudan between 2001 and 2008. Of the 84 samples collected, there were 53 from

The role of an economy is to effectively make use of a countries resources, thus increasing economic

History Tommy Douglas also known as the father of Medicare introduced the existence of
universal health care in 1947. This care is set out to help improve health and standard of living
making the government responsible for setting rules for Canada health act. Along side with other
organization such as Canada Health Act, universal health still exists in Canada till date. Mary
Wiktorowicz stated there were oppositions such as Canadian Medical Association, tried to block
the medical care act I 1957.(Raphael,Bryant,Rioux, 2006 p. 247). Despite the fact that universal
health care system is meant to make things better, the long waits, low budget and shortage of
health workers are all the same topics that trigger interests in the face of health maintenance.
Issues Despite the accessibility Canadians have to universal health, there are many causes of long
waits, shortage of health workers and low budget. Wait time has increased because of the lack of
follow up; the government owns the health care services so less supervision is assigned to
services. According to Cbc report Canadians wait longer in hospital emergency departments than
people in other countries with publicly funded health care systems (Cbc 2014). In relation to long
wait times, shortage of health workers is another big issue Canadians face.

Wine is prepared from more than one varieties of Vitis vinifera like Pinot Noir, Chardonnay,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay and Merlot. When one of these varieties is used the resultant is
termed as varietal. The world s most expensive wines come from the regions like Bordeaux and
Rhone Valley are blended from different varieties of the same vintage. Wine can also be prepared
from the hybrid varieties of grapes obtained by genetic cross breeding. Vitis labrusca, Vitis

grapes grown for the production of jams, jellies or sometimes wine.
Hybridization is a different process so cannot be confused with grafting. Most of the world s
grape vineyards are planted with the European variety of grapevine Vitis vinifera grafted with the
North American species rootstock. This is basically done because the North American species are
resistant to Phyllosera a root louse that damages the roots of grapevines resulting in death. In the
late 19th century most of the vineyards of Europe were destroyed by a bug leading to deaths of
grapevines and heavy economic loss. Grafting is a common practice in all wine producing nations
except Argentina, Chile and Canary Islands and only these areas include vineyards free from any
devastating pests. Associated with wine production terroir is an important concept that includes

the media could possibly help to decrease the problem. About Face is a non profit organization

Although Walton s mistake does not cause him physical harm, the failure of his enterprise is a
shame worse than death: in his own words, I had rather die than return shamefully my purpose

of caution may not have mortal consequences, the results will nevertheless be severe. Shelley
reiterates this message throughout Frankenstein, One should always be cautious, and never be
so rushed to finish a project that the normal rules of safety are cast aside. The author conveys her
belief by revealing the reasoning of Frankenstein during the creation of the two monsters. During
the making of the first monster, Frankenstein is almost driven insane with his desire to succeed.
He tells Walton, My eyeballs were starting from their sockets in attending to the details of my
employment...my eyes were insensible to the charms of nature... I also forgot my friends who
were so many miles absent and whom I had not seen in quite a long time (55). Frankenstein s
words reveal the deleterious results of being incautious, he did not notice the seasons change, nor
did he think of his friends, his body also suffers the consequences of his wild frenzy to finish his
work. However, when the monster approaches Frankenstein to create a female daemon,
Frankenstein is slightly wiser after suffering the loss of several of his loved ones.

Essay about Icons of Ambivalence in Bless Me Ultima
Icons of Ambivalence in Bless Me Ultima
The portrait of Mexican Americans is layered in shades of ambivalence. Aside from the fact there
is evidence that they can not really be classified as a migratory culture in that the land where they
tend to migrate once belonged to Mexico, they can also lay an earlier claim to the land as Native
Americans. The Spanish Europeans who settled in the area that became Mexico evolved as the
dominant culture over the oral culture of the Native Americans. Nevertheless, there is evidence of
ambivalence among the Native Americans to the dominant culture of the Spanish in what is
arguably one of the Mexico s basic texts, the story of the Miraculous Apparition of the Virgin of

Legend says that a child who cries in the womb will be given the Don and become a curandera.
Don means the gift from God.
(La Curandera 1).
Therein lies the contradiction of the curandera, she cannot be categorized as only a pagan icon, in
that curandera has respect for and practices the religion of Catholicism along with her healing
(Blessed or Evil). Similar to the Virgin of Guadalupe, the character of Ultima, a curandera, defies
easy classification as either of the native or dominant culture. The myth of the Miraculous
Apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe in 1531 and Bless Me Ultima arise as cultural narratives of
ambivalence, with elements of both resistance and assimilation in their characters, which elude
definition by dominant culture s standards.
Juan Diego, the native peasant to whom the Virgin of Guadalupe appears, and Antonio Marez, the

important distinction. Juan Diego becomes more enmeshed with the dominant culture as a result of

certain matters of spirituality.

Taking a Look at Chikungunya Fever
Chikungunya Fever
Chikungunya virus causes chikungunya fever, a highly symptomatic and acute illness often
followed by chronic arthritis. The name chikungunya, in fact, came about by the symptoms that
developed upon infection. From the Makonde language, chikungunya means, that which contorts or
bends up. This refers to the bent position of those experiencing the chronic arthralgia (Bettadapura
et al., 2013). Though investigation has been ongoing, there is no information regarding any
specific viral proteins that are known to play a role in disease.
Incubation of the virus lasts 1 to 12 days. The course of chikungunya fever involves two stages:
acute and chronic. Acute stage is characterized by joint pain, rash, and fever (Kucharz et al., 2012).
The pain of the joints, known as arthralgia, is typically presented in the hands, wrists, ankles, and
feet. Back and larger joints are also afflicted. Other common symptoms of the acute stage are chills,
malaise, vomiting, and photosensitivity. Atypical symptoms of the acute stage involve
cardiovascular or respiratory problems (Kucharz et al., 2012).
Acute symptoms last for a couple of weeks but some symptoms may persist for months (Weaver et
al., 2012). The chronic stage exhibits predominantly in the form of rheumatism, which can last
indefinitely (Kucharz et al., 2012). Investigation has reported that persistent joint pain caused by
chikungunya virus is correlated with high levels of IL 6 and GM CSF. Moreover, natural

Yin and Yang
YIN AND YANG
YIN AND YANG
I. THE YIN YANG THEORY
Ancient Chinese people were greatly interested in the relationships and patterns that occurred in
nature. Instead of studying isolated things, they viewed the world as a harmonious and holistic
entity. In their eyes, no single being or form could exist unless it was seen in relation to its
surrounding environment. By simplifying these relationships, they tried to explain complicated
phenomena in the universe.
1. What is the Yin Yang Theory?
Yin yang theory is a kind of logic, which views things in relation to its whole. The theory is based
on two basic components: yin and yang, which are neither materials nor energy. They combine in a
complementary manner and form a method for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They depend on each other for definition and can only be measured by comparing themselves to
each other. For example, heat ceases to exist (yang aspect) if there is no such thing as cold (yin
aspect). Without an understanding of hot and cold, there would only be one temperature. Height
(yang aspect) cannot be measured if there is not a low reference point (yin aspect); otherwise,
everything would be at one level. In addition, the comparisons between yin and yang are relative
to the objects being compared. For example, when soup is first cooked it is hot but after it a
while it becomes cold, but the hot cold distinction is relative to a cold an ice cube and boiling water.
According to the yin yang theory, our physical body is closely related to its physiological
functions. The activity (yang) of our body is nourished by its physical form (yin), and the physical
form is created and maintained by the body s activity. They rely on each other to achieve a
balanced state of health.

3. Yin and Yang change and grow in a cyclic and balanced manner.
Yin and yang achieve a state of balance by mutual control and inhibition. The balance is neither
static nor absolute, but is maintained within certain limits. At certain times, yin expands while yang
diminishes. At other times, the opposite is true. The change of seasons illustrates this concept.
From winter through spring and summer, the weather changes from cold to hot. This is a process
where yang (heat) grows

The detective fails to solve the crime, but also confronts insoluble mysteries of interpretation and
identity. In these types of mysteries, detectives don t believe in coincidences and believe every
little thing has potential meaning to solving the case. Anything may be connected to anything else
if the detective, and the reader, chooses. Opposite of traditional, straightforward detective stories,
the metaphysical detective stories find a complex and deceptive mystery where the detective
becomes intertwined in a very complex case. The detectives in metaphysical detective stories lose
their stable position within their world. They often identify themselves with the object of their
pursuit, almost to the point of giving up their own identity as in Auster s City of Glass and
suggested by Poe in, Man of the Crowd. For example, Edgar Allan Poe s The Man of the Crowd
features a character that decides to follow a man because he thinks the man has a horrible secret.

Analysis Of Mutability By Percy Bysshe Shelley Essay
Portfolio Part B Mutability (Greenblatt 752 753) is a poem written by the Romantic poet Percy
Bysshe Shelley in 1816. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word Mutability as: Liability
or tendency to change. (OED Online) Mutability was most probably written in order to portray
Shelley s own views that humans do not have control over changes which occur in their own
lives. However, it asserts Shelley s belief that, Nought may endure but Mutability. Shelley
demonstrates this idea by using various literary devices, diction, and a sombre tone which is
reflected through his choice of writing in the lyric form. Mutability was written at a time when
Shelley experienced significant life changing events; January 1816 saw the birth of his first
child to Mary Shelley, in the same year Shelley experienced financial struggles, and the suicide
of his first wife Harriet in December 1816. (O Neill, M.) In addition to the changes he endured in
his personal life, Shelley was very much aware of the changes happening during 1816 which was
named, The year without a summer due to extreme changes in weather. During his trip to
Switzerland, Shelley and a group of other Romantic poets began to create works to reflect this time
of great change. (Gardiner, Lisa) This is significant as being exposed to so much change during
1816 more than likely inspired Shelley to write Mutability to demonstrate the human ability to
accept and embrace change, as it cannot be prevented.

Controversial PSA test
In 1994, prostate specific antigen (PSA) was officially approved for PCa screening by the FDA,
and 4.0 ng/ml was set as the upper limit of normal range. Following its prevalent use, PSA became
the most frequent method of detecting PCa and has resulted in a considerable stage migration.
However, considerable controversy remains about PSA screening, due to questions regarding
survival benefit, cost effectiveness, and clinical factors such as the optimal age and total PSA at
which to recommend biopsy
[5], also increase in the levels of PSA is not as specific as it is sensitive for diagnosis. A rise in the
PSA level can reflect the presence of cancerous cells, but can also be related to nonmalignant
disorders such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prognostic biomarkers predict the natural course of the cancer to distinguish the tumor s outcome.
They also help determine whom to treat, how aggressively to treat, which candidates will likely
respond to a given drug, and the most effective dose. Predictive biomarkers evaluate the probable
benefit of a particular treatment. Pharmacodynamic biomarkers assess the imminent treatment
effects of a drug on a tumor and can possibly determine the proper dosage in the early stages of
clinical development of a new anticancer drug [11].
Identification of disease specific molecular biomarkers is a rational approach to addressing current
clinical challenges of whom to biopsy, whom to offer certain interventional therapies, in whom to
alter therapeutic strategies, and in whom to follow up treatment outcome [12, 13].
With recent advances in biotechnology, many potential blood biomarkers have been identified and
are currently under investigation. In this review, we will discuss and list some of the biomarkers
that have a substantial amount of supportive data to be beneficial biologically and clinically, and
other potential candidates are still under investigation.
Selected PCa markers
The prostate health index (PHI)
The prostate health index is a new formula that combines all three forms (total PSA, free PSA,
and p2PSA) into a single score that can be used to aid in clinical decision making [14].

The Integumentary System
My discussion paper for the Integumentary System was on Vitiligo. In this article, 75 people
participated in a clinical study to develop self help for social anxiety associated with vitiligo.
Vitiligo is a skin disorder from the destruction of melanin producing cells that produce white
patches on the skin. The point of this study was to see if assisting in teaching self help intervention
could reduce the psychological distress caused from this disease like social anxiety, anxiety and
depression. The participants were emailed self help leaflets, which was a part of an intervention,
which discussed psychoeducation, relaxation and attentional refocusing. The first part of the
Intervention was asking a series of questions before they were offered

Solution Of Water Pollution
Introduction
People usually don t check the water they drink before drinking it because they trust that just
because it is in the bottle, water fountain, refrigerator (etc.) that it is free of pollutants, but that is
not always the case. Water pollution in drinking water is very common and dangerous because the
bacteria/pollutants can cause health problems that lead to death. There are a variety of diseases and
bacterias that lead to the health problems. What is water pollution?
Water pollution is generally described as a contaminated body of water. Water pollution is caused
by pollutants like chemicals and compounds. The Georgia Holt Environmental
Science Textbook defines water pollution as the introduction of chemicals, physical, or biological
agents into water that degrades water quality and adversely affect the organisms that depend on
water. These waters can be lakes, swamps, oceans, gulfs, rivers, aquifer and etc. Almost all water
pollution comes from industrialization and rapid population growth. Water pollution affects every
aspect of life from humans, plants, and animals. Water makes up 70% of the earth so water
pollution affects animal life such as the animals that live in water are affected because they can
become sick and die off and can affect the rest of the food chain which can affect the humans that
eat them. That contamination now is spread to the human population which negatively affects our
communities and

Huntington Disease Research Paper
Most of the carriers of Huntington disease are usually childhood victims (Donaldson, Marsden,
Schneider, Bhatia, 2012). From this point of view, an increase in the length of the CAG section
causes the production of an abnormal form of the Huntington protein (Donaldson, Marsden,
Schneider, Bhatia, 2012). The lengthened defective protein is then cut into smaller and defective
fragments that bind neurons together, which in turn disrupts their required functions of the brain.
The abnormal functioning leads to eventual death of the neurons in some regions within the brain,
which in turn leads to the symptoms of Huntington disease(Marks Neill, 2007).
Inheritance
Huntington disease is featured by an autosomal inheritance that is dominant,

The Role Of Violence In The White Tiger By Aravind Adiga
It cannot fairly be said that in Aravind Adiga s novel, The White Tiger, the only way to escape
the Darkness and advance in society is through violence, as an alternative route to the Light is
presented in the story arc of Vijay, the pig herder s son turned politician. Balram asserts that the
murder of Ashok is not only the direct cause of his new wealth and status, but also the only
possible trigger for his newfound social mobility. Yet, this is contradicted earlier in the story
when he presents Vijay, the bus driver, as his role model for a successful person. Vijay, in order
to achieve his elevated position, resorted to prostitution; despite not being a desirable alternative
to violence, it is an alternative all the same and therefore violence is not the only way to escape
the Darkness. Following this logic, it is Balram s story and the immediate increase in wealth that
results from the murder of Ashok that best supports violence as the only means of moving into the
Light, and Vijay s story is the best evidence against that point of view.
Although Balram argues that violence is his only way of overcoming the poverty he is born into,
Vijay, a manborn into status even lower than Balram s, achieves power and wealth without
resorting to violence. Initially Balram presents Vijay as his role model, condoning the rumors of
his prostitution in order to advance socially. He portrays Vijay as the first entrepreneur [he] knew
of and a man who had made it in life (26), thereby

Bowling For Columbine Propaganda
Michael Moore documentary used filmic codes such as symbolic, written, audio and technical to
position the viewer to sympathize and understand the gun violence laws in America to accept the
arguments and ideas presented in his documentary, Bowling for Columbine. Michael more is an
American Activist, film maker and author. One of his first documentaries was called Bowling for
Columbine. The documentary, Bowling for Columbine was made in 2002, after the Columbine
High School shooting and what lead the massacre happening in the first place. In the documentary,
Moore tries to investigate the reason for America s relaxed gun laws and the rate of homicide due
to owning guns in America. Audio codes, have a big impact on how the viewer is positioned to feel
in this documentary.
Audio codes in the Bowling for Columbine position the viewers to question and for Americans, be
ashamed that the ideas and arguments presented in the documentary are true. Example of this is

Shah Isma il’s Establishes a Persian State
Safawid rule over Persia originates from Shah Isma il s capture of Tabriz after hisvictory over
the Aq Qoyunlu ruler Alwand at Sharur in 1501 A.D. However, before Isma il could be regarded
the successor to the Aq Qoyunlu in Azarbayjan he would have to defeat the ozbegs and the
Ottomans to produce a contiguous Persian State. This would take decades to accomplish. Overall,
The Safawid state established by Shah Isma il relied on three elements to maintain power. The
first was the loyalty of the Qizilbash tribesmen providing a military capacity to the shah in his
capacity as head of the Safawid order. The second was the local bureaucracy, recruited especially
from members of the urban population of the cities of central Persia. This was an essential part of
the machinery of maintaining governing power once the military conquest was over. The third and
perhaps the most important element was the State s new official faith, the Twelvervariety of Shi
ism, whose adherents accept a line of twelve infallible imams, beginning with Ali and ending with
Muhammad al Mahdi. It is likely that a large majority of the Persian people at the time that Shah
Isma il began to establish his influence adhered to the Sunni branch of Islam. The initial years of the
Safawid dynasty brought on conversion to Shi ism as compulsory for the entire population. Why
conversion was necessary is not immediately clear, but the form of Shi ism chosen by Shah Isma il
was certainly not the

  • 2. The Rise Of Anabaptism I, John van Leiden, King of Munster, was a devout Anabaptist for much of my life, and did whatever I could to spread the ideas that went along with my faith. Throughout my time, I made many enemies, but I also made alliances that helped to increase the Anabaptist following. I was a feared ruler, but I did what I believed to be right in order to invoke the second coming of Jesus Christ. Despite my eventual title as the King of Munster, my life did not start off so nicely. I was born in a small village just outside of Leiden, in Holland. My mother and I were shunned when we were in public, seeing as I was born out of wedlock (Arthur 6). Most people did not want to be seen interacting with us because having illegitimate children was highly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I quickly solved that problem, and just three months later, I was the supreme leader of the city of Munster ( John of Leiden ). With my newfound powers, I created many new laws and regulations that followed the rules laid out in the Bible. I was a strict ruler, anyone who questioned my rule or refused to follow the biblical law would have to face punishment, because they were out of line. One of my favorite laws that I put in place brought back an idea from the Old Testament: Polygamy (Palmer et al. 80). By the time I had made Munster my permanent residence, I already had two wives, neither of whom know about the other (Arthur 70 71). With polygamy now legal, men were having competitions to see who could have the most wives, so I took it upon myself to marry fourteen other women in just over a year because I had to be the best, seeing as I was the king (103). With all of the new laws that I had created, as well as my harsh punishments for anyone who disobeyed me, I was a force to be reckoned with. I was so intimidating that Martin Luther, the man behind the Reformation, told his Protestant followers to join forces with the Catholics they were trying to separate from, in order to try and stop me (Palmer et al. 80). The Influence of Music Introduction to Music GEN1621 Major Writing Assignment The Influence of Music Almaty, 2011 Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything. (Plato, 428 348 BC ) Music is inseparable part of our everyday life; we can face it in every corner of our town, on TV commercial, films, radio etc. Music can be understood everywhere, even if you cannot speak the language of other countries, but you move, dance, sing and enjoy the music while listening to it. Nowadays the main concept of this modern world is to make more money, as everybody knows; customers are the main source of the companies income, whether you make products, goods or service. Moreover, managers and marketers try to attract more consumers by using different tricks. One of them is to influence customers behavior by music and sounds. First of all, on an average day, the average person watches an hour and a half of the commercial television stations, of which fifteen minutes will be made up solely of advertisements. Approximately half of all advertisements will have music (Fellows, 1998, para.1). Good music can contribute to the effectiveness of an advertisement by making it more attractive. A good music engages the attention of an audience, evoke emotions and sometimes make audience to dance and sing. Music plays an important role in marketing business, by appealing customers through their emotions, as it was mentioned before. In this case, music should send messages about products brand name, shape, and even taste etc. For example, according to Michael Morrison (2009), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yellow Perch Research Paper Average Yellow Perch length (TL) ranged from 87 (age 1) to 223mm (age 5), whereas, Pumpkinseed length ranged from 47mm (age 1) to 194mm (age 6) which is similar to other findings in many lakes in North America (Scott Crossman 1998; Pierce, Rasmussen, Leggett 1990). Pumpkinseed growth was constant for the first 4 5 years, then began to slow, whereas, growth in Yellow perch was constant for the first 2 3 years and began to slow which is similar to other studies (Copp, et al. 2004; Lauer Doll 2007). This may be due to maturation age when energy is allocated to reproduction(Roff 1983). Purchase et al. (2005) studied life history traits of Yellow Perch in many Ontario lakes and found that Yellow Perch mature around age 2 (Purchase et al. 2005). Frankfurt, a professor at Princeton University discusses the concept of bullshit from his standpoint. He begins his essay by stating, One of the most salient features of our culture is that there is so much bullshit (117). Since Frankfurt doubts that most people are rather confident of their ability to recognize bullshit and to avoid being taken in by it (117), he provides a theoretical understanding of bullshit. The big question being asked throughout this argument is when, if ever, is bullshitting seriously morally wrong and why? And what exactly is so important about caring about, respecting, and telling the truth? Aspects of bullshit are discussed with reference to the Oxford English Dictionary, Wittgenstein, and Saint Augustine. There are three points made throughout the essay that seem to be crucially important the difference between lying and bullshitting, the question of why there is so much bullshit in society today, and an analysis of sincerity. Frankfurt begins his search for the meaning of bullshit by comparing it to the word humbug, and referencing the work The Prevalence of Humbug by Max Black. Black gives the definition of humbug: deceptive misrepresentation, short of lying, especially by pretentious word or deed, of somebody s own thoughts, feelings, or attitudes. (118). Mowing examines the thoughts of a speaker that, while mowing some hay, believes that a scythe is whispering. As the speaker debates whether it is fantasy or reality, the overall theme of reality being the sane and comforting approach is developed through various stylistic techniques. As the reader initially reads Mowing , an initial observation is Frost s use of repetition. In the entirety of the poem, Frost emphasizes the word whisper . The Campaign, A Good And Positive Light Identity As we created this campaign, we developed several themes, symbols, motives and values in order to bring the project together and ensure the audience would receive it favorably, or in a beneficial and positive light. In the campaign, there are two primary themes, the first of which is recognition. In general, KULT is an unknown and ambiguous organization that needs to build a brand or an image for itself among students. The second theme of the campaign is unity. KULT wants to be seen as an organization that offers specific services and content to students who listen to the station or work for it. The goal of the campaign, then, is to provide a unified message to the audience showing exactly what KULT is, what it can do for students, and what it means to be involved. The message will unify the student body by presenting these facts, creating a sense of understanding and interest in the station. These two themes are carried out in several ways. Our values are focused around those of KULT: offering something new and fun to benefit the panther community in whatever ways they can and building a community in the station. They have strived for expansion of their power in the nation. The greatest battle for them was in the 1960s. There were very limited things they could do. A woman at this time period was expected to get married by the age of 20 and dedicate the rest of her life to her husband and homemaking. She was expected a lot only to take care of her kids and husband. They had no legal right to her husband earning or property but the husband had legal rights to his wife properties. • 23. The Characteristics Of The Mixing Patterns Are Determined... According to Muysken, many of the characteristics of the mixing patterns are determined by the structural features of language (Muysken, 2000; p. 2). Using the grammatical approach in analysing CS, Muysken identifies three major categories of code mixing; insertion, alternation and congruent lexicalization code mixing. Insertional involves the insertion of material (lexical items or entire constituents) from one language into a structure from the other language and alternational CS refers to alternation between structures from languages where two languages are present in the same clause but remain relatively separate (ibid; p.3). The distinction between insertion and alternation is paramount for the analysis of CS as it analytically differentiates between different events of CS: one that involves only the use of one main language where a foreign word is inserted into the structure or another where two grammatical systems alternate in the construction of a single utterance. In his work on analysing the patterns of CS, rather than presenting definite criteria for each of the pattern, Muysken acknowledges that the differences between insertion and alternation are gradual and can transition into each other (2000; p.10). However, he managed to identify several environments where insertion or alternation is most likely to happen. In insertion, what is inserted is a constituent: a constituent can be any syntactic unit, either a lexical item or a phrase. According to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Benefits Of Farina Meta description: What is Farina exactly? This is the common question asked by people thinking about their diet. In this article, we explain the nutritional benefits of Farina and why it is healthy for us. What is Farina? The Healthier Version of Cereals First, what is Farina? Farina is milled grains of cereal, most typically wheat. Farina is a Latin word which means meal or flour. It comes from the inner portion of wheat kernels and is said to be the germ and endosperm of the grain. The grains are crushed into a fine granular consistency and then filtered. Farina has a very bland taste, which makes it adaptable to a variety of toppings when eaten as a hot cereal, the classic preparation. Because it has been finely ground, it can be cooked quickly, which also makes it a popular choice for hot cereal. Due to its mild taste, the cooked cereal is typically flavored with brown sugar, honey, fruits, maple syrup, butter, chocolate, salt, jams, and cinnamon, or sometimes several of these toppings combined. ... A Report On The Disease Introduction The disease discussed in this article is eumycetoma, a chronic granulomatous subcutaneous infectious disease that is endemic in the mycetoma belt of 30 degrees North to 15 degrees South of the equator (Hellemond et al., 2013). Sudan has the highest country wide prevalence of eumycetoma, with 2% of the population being infected in the endemic villages in the Gezira area (Ahmed et al., 2004). Although mycetoma can be caused by various bacteria and fungi agents, the majority of mycetoma cases in Sudan, which is around 70%, are caused by the fungus Madurella mycetomatis (eumycetoma) (Hellemond et al., 2013). Schistosomiasis can even convert an already established Th1 response to a Th 2 response. Furthermore, in eumycetoma endemic countries schistosomiasis is often a chronic disease that lasts the duration of a person s life, and this could lead to a persistent Th2 type immune response (Hellemond et al., 2013).Thus, if Schistosomiasis predisposes the development of eumycetoma, efforts to eradicate Schistosoma in a population could also lower the number of eumycetoma cases. If this is the case, then intervention strategies could be developed to target both Schistosoma and eumycetoma in a population. Hypothesis The primary association examined in this study is the relationship between a Th2 type immune response and the susceptibility to eumycetoma. Hellemond et al. (2013) have previously shown that eumycetoma patients increased concentrations of IL 10 circulating in their bodies. Thus, it is hypothesized that an infection of schistosomiasis, which induces a Th2 type response that is accompanied by increased levels of IL 10, might increase the susceptibility of a patient to eumycetoma. However, toxoplasmosis, which induces a Th1 type immune response, should not be associated with increased susceptibility to eumycetoma. Methods and Materials Hellemond et al. The Spanish Europeans who settled in the area that became Mexico evolved as the dominant culture over the oral culture of the Native Americans. Instead of studying isolated things, they viewed the world as a harmonious and holistic entity. By simplifying these relationships, they tried to explain complicated phenomena in the universe. 1. What is the Yin Yang Theory? They depend on each other for definition and can only be measured by comparing themselves to each other. For example, heat ceases to exist (yang aspect) if there is no such thing as cold (yin aspect). Without an understanding of hot and cold, there would only be one temperature. Height (yang aspect) cannot be measured if there is not a low reference point (yin aspect); otherwise, everything would be at one level. In addition, the comparisons between yin and yang are relative to the objects being compared. For example, when soup is first cooked it is hot but after it a while it becomes cold, but the hot cold distinction is relative to a cold an ice cube and boiling water. According to the yin yang theory, our physical body is closely related to its physiological functions. The activity (yang) of our body is nourished by its physical form (yin), and the physical form is created and maintained by the body s activity. • 43. Analysis Of Mutability By Percy Bysshe Shelley Essay Portfolio Part B Mutability (Greenblatt 752 753) is a poem written by the Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley in 1816. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word Mutability as: Liability or tendency to change. (OED Online) Mutability was most probably written in order to portray Shelley s own views that humans do not have control over changes which occur in their own lives. However, it asserts Shelley s belief that, Nought may endure but Mutability. Shelley demonstrates this idea by using various literary devices, diction, and a sombre tone which is reflected through his choice of writing in the lyric form. Mutability was written at a time when Shelley experienced significant life changing events; January 1816 saw the birth of his first child to Mary Shelley, in the same year Shelley experienced financial struggles, and the suicide of his first wife Harriet in December 1816. (O Neill, M.) In addition to the changes he endured in his personal life, Shelley was very much aware of the changes happening during 1816 which was named, The year without a summer due to extreme changes in weather. During his trip to Switzerland, Shelley and a group of other Romantic poets began to create works to reflect this time of great change. (Gardiner, Lisa) This is significant as being exposed to so much change during 1816 more than likely inspired Shelley to write Mutability to demonstrate the human ability to accept and embrace change, as it cannot be prevented. ... The lengthened defective protein is then cut into smaller and defective fragments that bind neurons together, which in turn disrupts their required functions of the brain. The abnormal functioning leads to eventual death of the neurons in some regions within the brain, which in turn leads to the symptoms of Huntington disease(Marks Neill, 2007). Inheritance Huntington disease is featured by an autosomal inheritance that is dominant, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. The Role Of Violence In The White Tiger By Aravind Adiga It cannot fairly be said that in Aravind Adiga s novel, The White Tiger, the only way to escape the Darkness and advance in society is through violence, as an alternative route to the Light is presented in the story arc of Vijay, the pig herder s son turned politician. Balram asserts that the murder of Ashok is not only the direct cause of his new wealth and status, but also the only possible trigger for his newfound social mobility. Yet, this is contradicted earlier in the story when he presents Vijay, the bus driver, as his role model for a successful person. Vijay, in order to achieve his elevated position, resorted to prostitution; despite not being a desirable alternative to violence, it is an alternative all the same and therefore violence is not the only way to escape the Darkness. Following this logic, it is Balram s story and the immediate increase in wealth that results from the murder of Ashok that best supports violence as the only means of moving into the Light, and Vijay s story is the best evidence against that point of view. Although Balram argues that violence is his only way of overcoming the poverty he is born into, Vijay, a manborn into status even lower than Balram s, achieves power and wealth without resorting to violence. Initially Balram presents Vijay as his role model, condoning the rumors of his prostitution in order to advance socially. He portrays Vijay as the first entrepreneur [he] knew of and a man who had made it in life (26), thereby ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. Shah Isma il’s Establishes a Persian State Safawid rule over Persia originates from Shah Isma il s capture of Tabriz after hisvictory over the Aq Qoyunlu ruler Alwand at Sharur in 1501 A.D. However, before Isma il could be regarded the successor to the Aq Qoyunlu in Azarbayjan he would have to defeat the ozbegs and the Ottomans to produce a contiguous Persian State. This would take decades to accomplish. Overall, The Safawid state established by Shah Isma il relied on three elements to maintain power. The first was the loyalty of the Qizilbash tribesmen providing a military capacity to the shah in his capacity as head of the Safawid order. The second was the local bureaucracy, recruited especially from members of the urban population of the cities of central Persia. This was an essential part of the machinery of maintaining governing power once the military conquest was over. The third and perhaps the most important element was the State s new official faith, the Twelvervariety of Shi ism, whose adherents accept a line of twelve infallible imams, beginning with Ali and ending with Muhammad al Mahdi. It is likely that a large majority of the Persian people at the time that Shah Isma il began to establish his influence adhered to the Sunni branch of Islam. The initial years of the Safawid dynasty brought on conversion to Shi ism as compulsory for the entire population. Why conversion was necessary is not immediately clear, but the form of Shi ism chosen by Shah Isma il was certainly not the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
