My Deepest Condolences
My deepest condolences, mutters a member of my congregation as she shuffles towards the doorway.
Thank you for your condolences, I detachedly respond. I attempt to push my way through a pack of
people, so that I might exit the somber stone abbey as quickly as possible. I cannot stand being the
object of people s pity for much longer. Their offered condolences just serve as a reminder of my
deepened state of sadness. Death is a daily occurrence in our society. Children, spouses, and friends
are cruelly ripped from their loved ones by sicknesses and other ailments. But indeed, one never
expects or is prepared for the time when they become the recipient of apologies. After finally
maneuvering my way outdoors, I plod down the steps of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I remember how my husband, Charles, used to fill up the whole entire seat, and how he used to
randomly grasp my hand. A piercing scream leaves my lips; one that must have surely been heard by
the coachmen. I allow myself the moment to grieve, to remember, to mourn, and to cry about a life
lost. I continue crying until I see a large oak tree, an indicator that we are almost home. Knowing that
I need to recollect myself quickly, I wipe away the remaining tears, slap my face a few times, and fluff
up my dress. When the carriage begins to vibrate from the gravel, I know that we have entered the
long driveway leading up to my home. We reach an abrupt stop when we arrive at the large limestone
estate. After a few seconds, the coachmen walks to the door, opens it and helps me out. His eyes never
meet my face; he obviously does not want to draw attention to the scene that I just made, but I know
that the house will be alive with gossip later in the evening. When my feet reach the rocky ground, I
mutter under my breath, Thank you, and immediately march towards the door with the unlikely wish
that I might avoid contact with other people. Sure enough, I discover that my two children, both
dressed in petticoats and gowns, are patiently playing with their dolls on granite stairs. They look up
from their game when they hear the slam of the carriage door and immediately sprint over to greet me.
Attempting to guard them from my deep

The Folly of Fools
The Logic of Deceit and Self Deception in Human Life
Our daily life is effortlessly painted by our ignorance and own deceit and self deception. Our most
prized possession, language, not only strengthens our ability to lie, but also greatly extends it scope.
According to the book The Folly of Fools The Logic of Deceit and Self Deception in Human Life,
written by Robert Trivers, we as humans lie to ourselves to better lie to others. In this book, deceit and
self deception are analyzed from different perspectives of life and different perspectives scientifically.
The main topics discussed are the evolutionary logic of self deception, neurophysiology and levels of
imposed self deception, the psychology of self deception, and self deception and the structure of social
sciences. In the text to follow, I will discuss each category in detail in hopes to better understand why
as humans we are deceitful not only to others, but also to ourselves as well. To begin with, I will
layout a foundation to further understand deceit and self deception by looking at the evolutionary logic
of self deception. We can start by discussing the idea of natural selection. Natural selection refers the
notion that certain individuals leave behind more offspring than others; therefore genetic traits of the
reproductively successful tend to become more common over time. This is relevant because

Critique Of An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge
Critique of An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge
Summary of Major Ideas In An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, Ambrose Bierce tells the story of
Peyton Farquhar, a man who is about to be hanged for aiding the Confederacy during the Civil War. In
the moments before his hanging, he reminisces about scheming to set a bridge on fire in order to
prohibit the advancement of Union soldiers, which is why he is being hanged. Peyton then begins
plotting his escape and the reader is tricked into thinking he escapes his execution and makes it safely
to his house, when in reality he is actually hanged.
Critical Evaluation First, Bierce effectively portrays imagery through his thorough description of the
setting at Owl Creek Bridge. He starts by describing a man standing on a railroad bridge, gazing into
the water several feet below with his hands tied and a rope around his neck. This really gives the
reader the view and the physical feeling from the man s perspective. Bierce also explains the various
positions of the soldiers on the bridge and how their stances would have looked. For example he
writes, A sentinel at each end of the bridge stood with his rifle in the position known as support, that is
to say, vertical in front of the left shoulder, the hammer resting on the forearm thrown straight across
the chest a formal and unnatural position, enforcing an erect carriage of the body (Bierce, An
Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, 183). As a soldier in the Union Army, Bierce could

Informative Speech About Working With Groups
Informative Speech
Title: Reflection paper.
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the beneficial things of working with a group.
Central Idea: A group work is the ability to work with other members.
Introduction
Attention: Do you think you re qualified for a particular job, fit to lead a team, or entitled to a
promotion because you have extensive experience and highly developed technical skills? Well, it turns
out that while those things are crucial to your professional success, it s imperative that you also have
great soft skills more commonly known as people skills.
Topic: I m going to talk about the benefits of working with a group.

Working successfully with others requires practical as well as personal skills. One of the main
advantages of working with others is that you can benefit from the skills of others that you may not
have yourself and share your own skills, and discovering your talents. For example, Sierra has lots of
good ideas and is good at putting them together. Sam is talkative and good at gathering ideas. Jacob is
a good listener and able to summarize at the end of a meeting.
Transition:
Now that you know a little about being able to work together,
let s look at coming up with better thoughts than an individual will come up with.
II. Students can see how different perspectives, constructive deliberation, questioning, and critical
analysis can result in better solutions and performance. If students take an exam individually and then
do the same exam as a group, the group exam score is almost always higher because students share
what they know, debate the answers, and through that process can often find their way to the right
answer.

Using Teleportation, Clear The Area Of All Flies
When Using Teleportation, Clear the Area of All Flies
Do you ever wish that you could vanish in a puff of smoke, only to reappear a short distance ahead of
where you originally stood? The good ol Nightcrawler teleportation gag would be pretty neat to have,
wouldn t it? When this teleportation mechanic is the backbone of an Action Platformer, what you get
is Roving Rogue on the Wii U.
BAMF!BAMF!
Don t be confused though. Roving Rogue is not a Rogue like although the word rogue is in the title,
nor is it an X Men game. The word rogue refers to Kurt the Righteous, a cloaked character you take
control of who has teleportation powers. That s the main gist of the game. You platform your way
through a castle that is built in a way that makes your teleportation powers an absolute necessity.
Roving Rogue comes with a twist; the game starts in reverse. That s right, you start the game at the
end and work your way backwards. However, this may have some loopholes if you really think about
it. Right from the start (or the end?), you know just how long the game will be. Since you start at
World 6, there is no longer that anticipation for the end of the game. Once you get to World 1, you
know that you are almost done and it kind of takes that fun mystery out of the game. Also, since you
start at the end of the game, why do things get harder as you progress? Shouldn t things be easier
towards the true beginning? Maybe the castle was built to be tougher near the entrance to really

Siobhan Vivian The List Summary
The List, by Siobhan Vivian, is a story that confronts the issues that teenage girls have to face. Every
year, a week before the homecoming dance, the students of Mount Washington High come to school to
find a list, taped and stapled to doors, lockers, bulletin boards and every place visible to the student
eye. It isn t anything special, just a list declaring the prettiest and ugliest girls in each grade, except, it
actually IS a really big deal. No one ever knows who writes the list; all anyone does know is that it has
been a tradition for years. This year, eight girls take center stage after the new list is published. In this
book, eight different girls are selected to be on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first, I thought the formatting of the book was a little bizarre, but as I delved deeper into the story, I
grew to appreciate the setup of the book and how it showed the eight different perspectives of each of
the girls. It really lets you see all the different dimensions and perspectives of what it really meant to
be the prettiest or ugliest of each grade. This was great, as it let you see how some girls chose to
embrace their label with open arms and how some didn t let the labels define them. On the other hand,
I loved all the characters, but one character that really fascinated me was Bridget Honeycutt. She had
me hooked on her story, from her starving herself all summer to her finally learning her lesson.
Bridget had gone through a lot and the chapters she had been in had really tugged my heartstrings. I
could nearly see the turmoil and eruption of her feelings unfold right in front of me, with Vivian s
detailed writing. Not only that but Vivian address important issues that still go on to this day with
teenage girls; popularity, dating, eating disorders, family issues, and insecurities. Throughout the
book, you get to see that not only does being labeled as ugliest have its problems, but being labeled as
prettiest does as well. Each of the girls has to go through their own problem alone, and this story truly
shows how much of a struggle it is for the girls.

medications. Furthermore, Barbie had not shown up for her last 2 mammograms, which is extremely
important within the first five years of remission from breast cancer (ASCO, 2001, p. 9). This writer
discussed with Barbie the importance of her health, reluctantly Barbie made an appointment with her

accessing free counselling through Alberta Health Services, something she could talk about with her
doctor. Barbie admits to this writer that she is having difficulty coping lately and some counselling
may help. This writer discusses with Barbie that she has been through so many difficulty life events:
the death of her husband, both her parents, surviving cancer, and losing her home. Therefore, having a
difficult time coping is an absolutely normal response to what she has experienced. Switching topics
over to her interests: Barbie tells this writer she actually does not mind picking up bottles and cans
because she like sorting things. This writer also learns from Barbie the she has an extreme eye for
detail. However, both things have not been able to land her a job, even though she used to work as a
mail sorter while she took care of her parent before her mental health issues began. Now Barbie
claims no one will hire me . This writer encourages Barbie to learn more about her current health
status when she meets her doctor, so that she will know what tools to acquire. This writer discusses
with Barbie how the Canadian Mental Health Association has many resources available for people
facing serious mental illness and those struggling with disabilities who would like to work (CMHA,
2015, p. 1). It is a human right for men and women to have the freedom to work so they may live in

Persuasive Essay On Crosswalks
Summary
Since moving into the neighborhood about seven months ago, there are a lot of activities for the
residents to partake in. The neighborhood has eleven playgrounds, (some which are for younger
children considered tot lots), four basketball courts, a pool, a recreational center, and mailboxes at the
end of each resident s street. Seems like a lot of places you are able to walk, right? One thing missing
in the neighborhood is crosswalks leading to each of these different places and more. What I am
proposing is to have cross walks put up throughout the neighborhood so residents are safe when
crossing the road.
Problem
A large circle is the main road for the neighborhood and has eight connecting streets leading to where
the resident s houses are located. Families each day walk around the neighborhood to different
activities such as the playgrounds, basketball courts, the pool, and other activities. The problem is
when residents have to walk to different places there are no safe places to cross the road. Currently
there are no painted crosswalks or even pedestrian crossing signs. This can cause a major safety
concern for residents and drivers. Children and teens can be affect largely by this due to the school bus
dropping them off at the entrance of the neighborhood. Also, as this being unsafe for residents this is
also an unsafe condition for others such as, the families of residents, maintenance workers, delivery
drivers, etc. However,

A Sunrise On The Veld Poem Analysis
How Two Completely Different Stories Can Have So Many Similarities
The short stories, A Sunrise on the Veld and At the Pitt Rivers , have nothing in common if you
analyze them on a shallow literature level. A Sunrise on the Veld by Doris Lessing, highlights some of
the reasons why life is so valuable. Lessing hints her readers that this short story is set somewhere in
the desert by, ... the flesh of his soles contracted on the chilled earth, and his legs began to ache with
cold... He slung the shoes over his shoulder... they would be necessary when the ground became too
hot to bear, (Lessing, pg. 1212). Most deserts get heated by the sun by day, but loses the heat at night.
The boy starts hunting, at first, but then is distracted by a wounded buck. Seeing this buck suffer,
depicts him especially sad. A boy is also the protagonist in At the Pitt Rivers by Penelope Lively. This
boy spends his time in a museum, observing people and writing poems as the time passes. He keeps
track of a couple he sees at the museum. The couple catches his attention because they are not his
ideal of what a couple should look like. If a kindergartener read these two short stories, he/she would
find nothing in common with the stories. But, if the reader has the ability to analyze the text in more
depth, he/she would find that they are more similar than the kindergartener would think.
As an advanced reader, a comparison that is prevalent in both stories is, society s thinking of the ideal

Mindfulness Meditation And Its Psychological Effects Essay
Mindfulness Meditation and its Psychological Effects Almost everyone is preoccupied with happiness
but yet the population seems to be increasingly unhappy. As society and human experience changes
we can t help but ask ourselves how can we fix an increasingly unhappy and dissatisfied society?
Mindfulness meditation is a progressively popular solution to this issue. Mindfulness meditation stems
from Buddhist tradition and is a practice that includes focusing one s attention. Does mindfulness
meditation have real psychological effects? And if so can they help improve quality of life? Many
studies have been conducted proving that mindfulness meditation does have real psychological effects
and can help individuals live a more meaningful and happy life. This can be proven through research
related to neuroscience, depression and happiness. To understand the effects of mindfulness
meditation we first must understand how it is practiced and what the purpose of this practice is.
Throughout my research I have found many definitions of mindfulness meditation. Three of which I
found to be helpful when understanding the research conducted on the psychological effects of
mindfulness meditation. One article described it as Generally defined to include focusing one s
attention in a nonjudgmental or accepting way on the experience occurring in the present moment .
(BELLIN, ZVI J 221) Another article described the practice as A process that leads to a mental state

SOME PRACTICAL GUIDANCE FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROPENSITY SCORE
MATCHING
Marco Caliendo IZA, Bonn Sabine Kopeinig University of Cologne
Abstract. Propensity score matching (PSM) has become a popular approach to estimate causal
treatment effects. It is widely applied when evaluating labour market policies, but empirical examples
can be found in very diverse fields of study. Once the researcher has decided to use PSM, he is
confronted with a lot of questions regarding its implementation. To begin with, a first decision has to
be made concerning the estimation of the propensity score. Following that one has to decide which
matching algorithm to choose and determine the region of common support. Subsequently, the
matching quality has to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It originated from the statistical literature and shows a close link to the experimental context.1 Its
basic idea is to find in a large group of nonparticipants those individuals who are similar to the
participants in all relevant pretreatment characteristics X. That being done, differences in outcomes of
this well selected and thus adequate control group and of participants can be attributed to the
programme. The underlying identifying assumption is known as unconfoundedness, selection on
observables or conditional independence. It should be clear that matching is no magic bullet that will
solve the evaluation problem in any case. It should only be applied if the underlying identifying
assumption can be credibly invoked based on the informational richness of the data and a detailed
understanding of the institutional set up by which selection into treatment takes place (see for example
the discussion in Blundell et al., 2005). For the rest of the paper we will assume that this assumption
holds. Since conditioning on all relevant covariates is limited in the case of a high dimensional vector
X ( curse of dimensionality ), Rosenbaum and Rubin (1983b) suggest the use of so called balancing
scores b(X), i.e. functions of the relevant observed covariates X such that the conditional distribution
of X given b(X) is independent of assignment into treatment. One possible balancing score is the
propensity score, i.e. the probability of participating in a programme

Lost Colony Of Roanoke Essay
The Lost Colony of Roanoke
Queen Elizabeth I desired to establish a permanent English settlement in America, known then as the
New World. In the summer of 1587 a group of nearly 120 men and women from England arrived on
Roanoke Island, one of a chain of barrier islands now known as the Outer Banks, off the coast of what
is now known as North Carolina. This group of settlers set sail from England with the mission of
making the Queen s wishes a reality.
John White was appointed Governor of the colony by Sir Walter Raleigh. Sometime later, Governor
White set sail for England to gather supplies for the colony. Before he had left for England, White and
the colonists had discussed leaving the settlement and founding the city of Raleigh on the mainland, so
the fact that the colonists were no longer in the settlement would not have been surprising to White.
The colonists also worked out signals to communicate with those who were coming to their assistance.
For example, if they left due to an attack, they were supposed to carve a Maltese cross over their
doorposts to signal that they were in distress. Alternatively, if they left to try to find a more suitable
place, they were supposed to carve the names of the areas they would be traveling through so that
White would be able to find them upon his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ground or at best burial sites. Those signs would have been a clear indication of the eradication of the

Perhaps the settlers did split to forage or meet with traders and decided to remain in areas where

Chelation Therapy Research Paper
WHAT IS CHELATION THERAPY?
Chelation refers to the removal of toxins and heavy metals from the cells and organs of the body.
Heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, aluminum, arsenic and others accumulate in our body
over time through daily exposure. These toxins are stored in our organs and can gradually corrode our
health.
Since they are so tightly bound within the cell, an agent must be used with a strong attraction to the
toxins to pull them out. That agent is the chemical EDTA. This is a man made amino acid that is FDA
approved for the removal of lead. It has been in use since the 1950s. It is also known to have an
affinity for other heavy metals and can pull those out of the cells of the body as well. Once bound to
the EDTA, the heavy metals are flushed out through the urine.
The presence of heavy metals is known to cause hypertension, damage to arteries leading to heart
disease , Damage the brain cells increasing the risk of dementia, Parkinson s and other diseases,
damage to the organs of the body increasing the risk of cancer.
For many decades, physicians with advanced training in chelation therapy have been combining
EDTA with other vitamins and supplements to reverse symptoms of vascular and heart disease,

National Anthem Essay
The controversial issue of protesting the National Anthem has plagued the United States since the year
of 2016. Disputes have occurred over whether or not the athletes should be able to display their
opinion to the public even if the demonstration offends our armed forces. Many say the protests are
useless because the kneeling is diverting the public eye from the original issue; the anti protest
collection also agrees that the kneeling is not unconstitutional, and it should be restricted by the
owners of the teams. Though all of the arguments can be assumed to be correct, one might could argue
that these athletes were given this high platform so that they could be allowed to use their freedom of
speech to express their views about inequality, injustice, police brutality, etc. and to show equality
through the unification of their teams. This act of defiance against the National Anthem was said to be
disrespectful to the men and women that have protected this country. Many war veterans agree with
this because they believe that the athletes are dishonoring the symbol that gave each of us our
freedoms. I stand for our flag and anthem, and I kneel for our fallen. That s what patriots do, (Griggs).
The veterans of our country are not the only ones expressing their beliefs on the subject; a publication

Analysis Of Penny Stock Case Study
Penny Stock Case Study
The two stories talk about the meteoric price surge in the stock of a company called Cynk Technology
Corporation, with no actual revenue and tangible assets, and the purported manipulation of the stock
price through a pump and dump strategy. It can be seen how the Securities and Exchange Commission
together with the Department of Justice opened an indictment charging several people with
conspiracy, tax fraud and money laundering involving up to $500 million in assets routed through
offshore shell corporations that allowed clients to influence stock prices and hide their gains.
Generally, the fraudsters take control of an enterprise and offer to sell a chunk of shares usually to the
unsuspecting public with promises of very high returns. Promoters broadcast the company s prospects
by telling financiers to get in early before the rest of the market dives in the pump. Shares are often
bought and sold between fraudsters to give the appearance of active trading, further amplifying

Death In Holy Sonnet 10 And Philip Larkin s Aubade
Part of being human is understanding we are not immortal, and will eventually cease to function. For
some, this acknowledgement is a daunting reality swept into the back of the mind to be forgotten.
While for others it is an inspiring awareness that encourages us to live every day to its fullest
potential. Both of these feelings about death can be seen in John Donne s, Holy Sonnet 10 and Philip
Larkin s, Aubade . Together they challenge the reader to accept their fate and make the most of the
time we have on Earth. Both authors employ various poetic devices and prosody to give an
understanding of death.
John Donne s Holy Sonnet 10 serves as both a direct address towards death, and as a sermon on what
happens after death for those who practice Christianity. The speaker gives reassurance to those who
may fear death and what comes afterwards. Even though the speaker is discussing a somber matter,
the overall tone of the poem is uplifting thereby further challenging the typical way people view death.
The speaker belittles death when he/she questions death s magnitude and power over humans.
Throughout the poem, the speaker compares death to a restful slumber. Rests are temporary states that
bring much pleasure (Line 6). By relating death to sleep, the speaker says death is not permanent, but
rather a momentary phase that ultimately will bring happiness. Death is a phase and after one short
sleep past, we wake eternally (Line 13). This relates to the Christian belief

The Importance Of Teacher Attrition In Education
Twenty three percent of teachers leave the teaching profession during their first five years of teaching
(Elisa Shernoff, Ane Marín ̃ ez Lora, Stacy Frazier, Lara Jakobsons, Marc Atkins, Deborah Bonner,
2011, p. 465). Teaching has been a career before writing was established, however there has never
been such a high attrition rate in teaching. Attrition is defined as a reduction in workforce without
firing of personnel, as when workers resign or retire and are not replaced (CITATION Dictionary
.com). While the current flow of students training to become teachers is still strong, novice teachers do
not find enough encouragement in their first few years of teaching to remain in the profession. Instead,
their experiences cause them to feel discouraged and disrespected to the point that they do not believe
that teaching is where they belong. This crisis regarding education sustainability needs to be redefined
to include the sustainability of teachers. Sustaining future education relies on creating and hiring
teachers who enjoy being part of a learning environment. The use of student teaching, teacher
collaboration, and less mandated learning goals can lower the teacher attrition rate and sustain
education. Also, although some people believe that other resources are more important to sustain,
education is going to be detrimental to the success of future societies.
Student teaching can help lessen teacher attrition by giving the pre service teacher experience in a
classroom,

Corporate Strategy and Practices of International Human...
Corporate Strategies
Corporate Strategy
Strategy relates to the scope and domain of a corporation s activities and the main issues to use while
evaluating its success. Activity pattern in the strategy is on resource acquisition, commitment and
allocation in accordance to an organization s need, environment, management network and intended
goals(Chew Sharma, 2006).
Corporate Strategy and Culture
An organization s culture creates an important link between the organization s strategy, human
resource management and the human resource. According to Chew Sharma, 2006, organization culture
refers to how things in an organization are undertaken in the normal course work. It is therefore;
correct to say that an organization s culture refers to that aspect about an organization that makes it
uniquely different from other organizations.
Given that organization culture is linked to its strategy, it is clear to say that corporate strategy
formulation will influence working style in the organization(Becker Gehart, 2000). Nestle a
Corporation recently targets to sell it products on an international scope even to the third world
countries. It is working towards changing the mindset of the employees to incorporate an international
outlook.

attributes of others countries are considered. In managing their employees, they are enriching them

In the famous, but often times previously banned novel, The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger,
seventeen year old Holden Caulfield is trying to find his sense of direction in a world where he
describes the majority of people in his life as phony. As the first chapter begins, it is clear Holden is
currently living in a mental institution, although the reasoning behind so is never directly stated, the
reader can infer it may have to do with Holden s depression troubles. For the most part, Holden s
troubles are to blame on his own actions, he fails to realize his irresponsibly is the major cause of the

Charles The Lamb Analysis
In the two illuminations, a unity of appearance and attributes links Charles to the Lamb and sets in
parallel the ways in which the earthly and heavenly rulers are honored. On facing pages, the
Carolingian illuminators depicted parallel terrestrial and celestial ceremonies of the aurum
coronarium. Just as Christ receives tribute in his heavenly court, so his terrestrial counterpart and
reflection, Charles the Bald, receives homage in his earthly reign. The Lamb is in the dome of heaven;
the king is under the baldachin s dome symbolizing heaven. Christ s exaltation in heaven is set against
Charles imperial exaltation. This parallelism between terrestrial and heavenly rulers had been
portrayed earlier in the diptych of Charles s Prayerbook (Figs. 6 7) and in the gable ivories of the
Throne of Peter (Fig. 4). As Robert Deshman demonstrated, both the diptych and the ivories imply a
concept of imitatio Christi (imitation of Christ) that exalts the ruler in his temporal office and likens
him to Christ.
In the Codex Aureus, the theme of Christ s triumph and exaltation has implications for the meaning of
the exalted king represented on the opposite page. Charles s portrait as Christomimetes (imitator of
Christ) not only enhances his status and authority among humans but it also conveys divine
inspiration. The Carolingian king is to be considered the divinely appointed ruler on earth and the
features of his portrait the baldachin and the hand of God support this image. The

because they are reducing their taxable income while they are working and because they will be in a
lower tax bracket when they begin making distributions. The major cause for the huge popularity of

Comparison Of Watson And Winslow Homer Portrayed In The...
The works of art, that John Singleton Copley portrayed in Watson and the Shark and Winslow Homer
portrayed in The Fog Warning, strike a sense of mystery and fear into the heart of the viewer. With
The Fog Warning, I wonder if the fisherman will meet his destination at the large vessel before the
looming ominous fog swallows him up. If the fisherman does not arrive at the large vessel within the
given time, he may be lost at sea forever. When I admire Watson and the Shark, I contemplate if the
blood running from the mouth of the shark (where it presumably previously attacked Watson) and also
pouring into the water (where Watson seems to have lost the bottom portion of his leg in an attack)
will be the final blood shared amongst the two. Will the sailors save Watson from the ferociousness of
the mighty beast or will he suffer a terrible fate and perish at sea? While both compositions allow for
mystery and contain a quite eerie sense of doom, the artists portrayed these stories through painting
them in quite opposite directions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

basketball. A free throw is only worth one point when made, but one point can win or lose you the
game. I will be telling you the perfect form and technique to shooting and making a free throw.
First, you have to find a way to get in the zone and be comfortable. Everyone is focused on you, but
you need to be focusing on the shot you re about to take. That is a lot easier said than done because
there are millions of eyes watching just you. The fans, cheerleaders, and the mascots are just a few of

Animal Farm By George Orwell
The ninety five page novella, Animal Farm, written by George Orwell. Aimed at teenagers and adults,
it cleverly shows the flaws within society and how we will never change. This timeless classic was
converted into an hour and ten minute long film (in 1954) which is suitable and supposedly appealing
to young children.
However, the conversion between the novella and the cartoon meant having to cut down and alter
some of the storyline and characters within the novella to suit this age range but at the same time,
trying not to lose the basic structure of the novella and the messages given out by George Orwell
throughout the book.
I felt that on a whole, the cartoon version of Animal Farm did not maintain the textual integrity to the
novella. However, you find that this is the case with most films that have been converted from books.
Although the basic storyline of the novella was suitable for children, the meaning behind it was
beyond the understanding of this age range. I feel that the producers took on a very hard task to try
and convert this high standard novella into a film for all ages.
The purpose of the novella was clear, it is a piece of political satire, mainly concerning the Russian
Revolution. I did not feel however, that this came across in the film in any way. The film was clearly
aimed at children, as the simplicity of the converted storyline was obvious. Although they kept to the
basic structure of the novella, I felt that they did not successfully altar

The Importance Of Social Workers From A Professional...
The importance for social workers to understand communities from a professional perspective is to
help eliminate any potential bias and emotional and/or physical attachment to the studied community.
At the same time, the social worker views the studied community through the lens of residents living
within that community without clouded judgment and fulfillment of personal agenda. This
understanding helps the community generally and/or the specific families living within it link to the
macro level of social work; where the social worker acts as a liaison (or linkage) between the studied
community and policy makers. The benefit of this linkage between the mezzo and macro level can
generate the flow of revenue within the studied community. But one must ask, what gets lost through
this linkage? Some may argue that the dominating policies, laws, and or regulations (Budget) of white
heteronormative society can lose historical and cultural context.

Persuasive Essay On Privatization Of Water
Water is a utility service for many people since its treatment, distribution, and recycling is funded by
the taxpayer. Water is also a scarce commodity among some communities around the world.
Privatization of water would allow firms to make it a profitable venture. Both domestic and global
business environments have interesting ethical dilemmas to navigate. Peter Brabeck, the former Nestle
CEO noted that water is not a basic human right but a commodity that should be privatized and
controlled. Although the Universal Bill of Human Rights declares that withholding the resource takes
away human dignity it fails to specifically grant the right to water. However, if water is a basic human
right, it should be justly and freely available to all. Therefore, water is a right entitled to all human
beings and thus should not be privatized.
Proponents of water privatization assert that private production of water is advantageous for both
taxpayers and consumers. Brabeck, on his part explains that people do not use water for hydration and
hygiene, which leads to wastage. Privatization of water would lead to price increases thus more
conservation. It would also foster sustainable development among developing regions. Further, private
companies are better at maintaining infrastructure than public companies in addition to increasing
oversight.

The Best Advice That I Ever Received From A Mentor Of Mine...
The best advice that I ever received from a mentor of mine was that instead of trying to be the best at

devices they would probably never take a math class again. Now math is obviously a very important
skill regardless of your future career choice and it s a class that everyone should take. Even if it may
not be that enjoyable. The same goes for all subject matters. For me personally its history. I am not a

the desire to know why they were adopted and who their biological parents are. For the child to be
willing to find out who their biological parents are is something that a lot of people question. On the
other hand it is the right of the child to search for their biological parents if they have the desire to.
When they are grown up then they have the right to make their own decision about what they want to
do. No one should have the right to tell someone not to do something that they want to do. All children
should have the right to choose whether they want to find out who their biological parents are without

Shawshank Redemption Andy
What would you crawl through to be set free? Shawshank redemption is a spectacular movie full of
excitement and it has many dramatic scenes which have a very large impact on the audience. The film
the Shawshank redemption directed by frank Darabont is truly amazing as it will make you think
about geniuses that made the story. It will definitely leave you wanting to see it again and again. In my
opinion I really enjoyed this film because of the way Andy has entered Shawshank prison, Andy is
brave and an intelligent man who helps others to do the same. However, Shawshank redemption
played by astonishing actors and assisted by effective lighting, camera shots and costume to
emphasise the importance throughout the film. Throughout this movie ... Show more content on

As when we saw Andy we already knew that he was different from the other prisoners, as he was
dressed differently from the rest of them. He was wearing a suit and this represented that he had
power, but now he s looking a bit scruffy and you can see his power slipping away until it s
completely taken away and then he s dressed like them all, unimportant and powerless. An example of
this is when Andy first arrived to Shawshank prison, he was wearing a suit compared to the others
they were untidy and dirty. The first thing that pops into Reds head, he knew Andy was a brainy,
intelligence young man with less friends. This shows how Andy is hopeful and patient, Andy won t
give up on his dream of living the free life he s entitled to, no matter how impossible it seems. Another
example is when Andy enters Shawshank prison and meets the warden, and the other police men s.
Andy is now wearing the prison clothes like the other prisoners; this shows how Andy is no longer
strong and powerful. He is now stuck in a cell with no friends and is powerless. Andy was different
from most prisoners; he was quieter but he never lost his mind like many new prisoners. He kept to
himself, but many prisoners didn t like that because they thought Andy thought he was better than all
of them. Mentally Andy Deferens was kind of in a weird place. He was sitting in prison, but his mind

How Does Antigone Define Moral Courage
When it comes to moral courage, what does one think of it? When the word courage comes into a
person s mind, he/she might think of a hero plunging into danger, however that is not what defines
moral courage. Moral courage is when one follows through on beliefs when faced with adversity,
which does not necessarily concern physical harm. Plunging into danger does not challenge one s
values. The level of moral courage is defined by how willing one is to follow through on one s beliefs.
However, this can be seen in two ways: one can either stand up for one s own beliefs or be willing to
accept compromise in them if necessary. The difference between the courage to stand up for one s
beliefs and the courage to accept that one is wrong is that in the first instance, one is sacrificing safety,

However, his previous steadfast ways prevented him from stopping Antigone s sentence; therefore,
leading to Antigone s suicide, Haemon s suicide and finally Eurydice, which gains him more wisdom
but more solitude as well as he mourns their deaths. In taking the courage to free Antigone he
sacrificed his pride, however in sticking to his values too long, he forsook his family first.
Additionally, in Children of Men, despite how I stated that Theo followed through on his values to
display moral courage, he also abandoned his values first, showing moral courage. Before Theo was
approached by his ex wife to help the fishes, he was a somewhat reclusive man who only cared for
himself for the most part. He did not want to have much to do with any of the apocalyptic world. On
the contrary, when his moment of truth arrived after learning the true colors of the fishes he was quick
to abandon his previous values, unlike Creon, to save Kee and her baby for the future of mankind.
Overall, the courage to abandon one s values can be equally as courageous or even more than standing

Hermeneutic Techniques In The Film Wall-E
In the film Wall E, we are exposed to multiple types of narratives. Throughout the first 10 12 minutes
we are given many questions that are answered quickly and some that are answered over the course of
the movie. These questions probe our interest and draw us deeper into the plot of the film. Questions
such as, What types of events lead to the abandoning of earth? , Why is the store Buy N Large
referenced so much? and What is the importance of the robot Wall E? . Throughout the film all these
questions are answered for the audience through the hermeneutic code. This keeps the audience
interested.
We are first introduced to different snapshots of outer space. There is music from the 1950 s playing in
the background and as we slowly drift toward planet earth we are taken by surprise when we see a
dystopian society that seems to be lifeless. The audience s initial thought may be, What caused the
abandoning of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are then introduced to the first character. In the few moments the character, who is a robot, is on
screen we have no dialogue. As the robot is cleaning up the abandoned city, the camera zooms out to
an extreme long shot and intense music begins to play. We then wonder what the purpose of this robot
is and what type of roll will it have throughout the film. The audience can assume that the robot was
left behind to clean up the waste that humanity had left since it is shown cleaning the trash that had
overtaken the city. A couple of seconds pass and the camera brings us closer to the robot again. As the
intense music continues to play the robot runs over a newspaper. The camera then shows a closeup of
the paper and it states, Too much trash. Earth covered. BNL CEO declares global emergency. We are
then brought back to the question of Why would earth be abandoned? . The filmmakers show us that
the earth is covered in waste and that it is

A Life Event That Changed My Life
As I am writing/typing this journal based on a life event, which changed my outlook on life, I actually
come across more than several experiences. However, the one event that gave me an outlook on being
strong and tenacious was the birth of my last child. See, I have five children; they are three boys and
two girls. I tell people that I met all the time that God started me with a girl and I ended up with my
last girl. My daughter, who is now three, was born prematurely at 36 weeks. Now, as the reader, you
are wondering how this impacts my life. What is the influence of academic work and goals? Allow me
to explain my theory of this experience. As I sit in the hospital for four days in labor, and praying that
our daughter is healthy when born,

Gender Differences In Non-Traditional Occupations
Christine Williams broadens themes developed in Gender Differences At Work: Women and Men in
Non Traditional Occupations (Berkeley: University of California, 1989), a comparison between the
effects on male nurses and female marines of working in gendered occupations , to be traditionally
allied by reason of similarities in their historical development and in their gender composition . Her
interviews provide fascinating evidence of how both men and women are subtly socialized into
professional gender ideology. Gender roles are based on society s values and beliefs about interactions
between individuals. The appropriate behavior is then expected from the specific gender. The reason
behind this is, our knowledge system, in which we grew up

German Influence On American Culture
The groups project I will be analyzing is German and my partner will analyze Iranian. I will be doing
research on the first, second, and third waves of German. I will explore the three major themes: why
German migration to U.S, Assimilation, and what did the contributions or how did they influence
American culture. From this research I learned that German immigrants and their children identity
meant maintenance of their language and religious institutions. That the Germans left their homeland
for freedom from military, religious, political oppression, and for economic reason. Since German was
overpopulation that individual who lived in rural communities can t get jobs in the cities. Which made
many German to leave Germany to America. Upon

Elie And Dina Lindik Analysis
Even though Elie Wiesel and Dina Linik had many differences they still have some interesting
similarities . One of the few characteristics they shared was strong willed . They both were going
through really tough moments and still continued on no matter what reither it was for themselves or
not . They both also witnessed and encountered with other jews through a difficult tight transportation
method which was really difficult and uncomfortable to be in for countless of hours . Also , they both
were paid in ratios of bread by working hard and doing what others say . Lastly another similar
encounter that Elie and Dina experienced together was that they were both in a situation where the
area they were in was getting bombed . The many differences

I attempt to push my way through a pack of people, so that I might exit the somber stone abbey as quickly as possible. I cannot stand being the object of people s pity for much longer. Their offered condolences just serve as a reminder of my deepened state of sadness. Death is a daily occurrence in our society. I continue crying until I see a large oak tree, an indicator that we are almost home. Knowing that I need to recollect myself quickly, I wipe away the remaining tears, slap my face a few times, and fluff up my dress. Our most prized possession, language, not only strengthens our ability to lie, but also greatly extends it scope. According to the book The Folly of Fools The Logic of Deceit and Self Deception in Human Life, written by Robert Trivers, we as humans lie to ourselves to better lie to others. In this book, deceit and self deception are analyzed from different perspectives of life and different perspectives scientifically. The main topics discussed are the evolutionary logic of self deception, neurophysiology and levels of imposed self deception, the psychology of self deception, and self deception and the structure of social sciences. In the text to follow, I will discuss each category in detail in hopes to better understand why as humans we are deceitful not only to others, but also to ourselves as well. To begin with, I will layout a foundation to further understand deceit and self deception by looking at the evolutionary logic of self deception. We can start by discussing the idea of natural selection. Natural selection refers the notion that certain individuals leave behind more offspring than others; therefore genetic traits of the reproductively successful tend to become more common over time. • 4. Critique Of An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge Critique of An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge Summary of Major Ideas In An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, Ambrose Bierce tells the story of Peyton Farquhar, a man who is about to be hanged for aiding the Confederacy during the Civil War. In the moments before his hanging, he reminisces about scheming to set a bridge on fire in order to prohibit the advancement of Union soldiers, which is why he is being hanged. Peyton then begins plotting his escape and the reader is tricked into thinking he escapes his execution and makes it safely to his house, when in reality he is actually hanged. Critical Evaluation First, Bierce effectively portrays imagery through his thorough description of the setting at Owl Creek Bridge. He starts by describing a man standing on a railroad bridge, gazing into the water several feet below with his hands tied and a rope around his neck. This really gives the reader the view and the physical feeling from the man s perspective. Bierce also explains the various positions of the soldiers on the bridge and how their stances would have looked. For example he writes, A sentinel at each end of the bridge stood with his rifle in the position known as support, that is to say, vertical in front of the left shoulder, the hammer resting on the forearm thrown straight across the chest a formal and unnatural position, enforcing an erect carriage of the body (Bierce, An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, 183). This was great, as it let you see how some girls chose to embrace their label with open arms and how some didn t let the labels define them. On the other hand, I loved all the characters, but one character that really fascinated me was Bridget Honeycutt. She had me hooked on her story, from her starving herself all summer to her finally learning her lesson. The neighborhood has eleven playgrounds, (some which are for younger children considered tot lots), four basketball courts, a pool, a recreational center, and mailboxes at the end of each resident s street. Seems like a lot of places you are able to walk, right? One thing missing in the neighborhood is crosswalks leading to each of these different places and more. What I am proposing is to have cross walks put up throughout the neighborhood so residents are safe when crossing the road. Problem A large circle is the main road for the neighborhood and has eight connecting streets leading to where the resident s houses are located. Families each day walk around the neighborhood to different activities such as the playgrounds, basketball courts, the pool, and other activities. The problem is when residents have to walk to different places there are no safe places to cross the road. Currently there are no painted crosswalks or even pedestrian crossing signs. This can cause a major safety concern for residents and drivers. Children and teens can be affect largely by this due to the school bus dropping them off at the entrance of the neighborhood. Also, as this being unsafe for residents this is also an unsafe condition for others such as, the families of residents, maintenance workers, delivery drivers, etc. However, ... A Sunrise On The Veld Poem Analysis How Two Completely Different Stories Can Have So Many Similarities The short stories, A Sunrise on the Veld and At the Pitt Rivers , have nothing in common if you analyze them on a shallow literature level. A Sunrise on the Veld by Doris Lessing, highlights some of the reasons why life is so valuable. Lessing hints her readers that this short story is set somewhere in the desert by, ... the flesh of his soles contracted on the chilled earth, and his legs began to ache with cold... He slung the shoes over his shoulder... they would be necessary when the ground became too hot to bear, (Lessing, pg. 1212). Most deserts get heated by the sun by day, but loses the heat at night. A boy is also the protagonist in At the Pitt Rivers by Penelope Lively. This boy spends his time in a museum, observing people and writing poems as the time passes. He keeps track of a couple he sees at the museum. The couple catches his attention because they are not his ideal of what a couple should look like. If a kindergartener read these two short stories, he/she would find nothing in common with the stories. But, if the reader has the ability to analyze the text in more depth, he/she would find that they are more similar than the kindergartener would think. Mindfulness Meditation And Its Psychological Effects Essay Mindfulness Meditation and its Psychological Effects Almost everyone is preoccupied with happiness but yet the population seems to be increasingly unhappy. As society and human experience changes we can t help but ask ourselves how can we fix an increasingly unhappy and dissatisfied society? Mindfulness meditation is a progressively popular solution to this issue. Mindfulness meditation stems from Buddhist tradition and is a practice that includes focusing one s attention. Does mindfulness meditation have real psychological effects? And if so can they help improve quality of life? Many studies have been conducted proving that mindfulness meditation does have real psychological effects and can help individuals live a more meaningful and happy life. This can be proven through research related to neuroscience, depression and happiness. To understand the effects of mindfulness meditation we first must understand how it is practiced and what the purpose of this practice is. Throughout my research I have found many definitions of mindfulness meditation. Three of which I found to be helpful when understanding the research conducted on the psychological effects of mindfulness meditation. One article described it as Generally defined to include focusing one s attention in a nonjudgmental or accepting way on the experience occurring in the present moment . Propensity score matching (PSM) has become a popular approach to estimate causal treatment effects. Once the researcher has decided to use PSM, he is confronted with a lot of questions regarding its implementation. It originated from the statistical literature and shows a close link to the experimental context.1 Its basic idea is to find in a large group of nonparticipants those individuals who are similar to the participants in all relevant pretreatment characteristics X. That being done, differences in outcomes of this well selected and thus adequate control group and of participants can be attributed to the programme. The underlying identifying assumption is known as unconfoundedness, selection on observables or conditional independence. It should be clear that matching is no magic bullet that will solve the evaluation problem in any case. It should only be applied if the underlying identifying assumption can be credibly invoked based on the informational richness of the data and a detailed understanding of the institutional set up by which selection into treatment takes place (see for example the discussion in Blundell et al., 2005). For the rest of the paper we will assume that this assumption holds. Since conditioning on all relevant covariates is limited in the case of a high dimensional vector X ( curse of dimensionality ), Rosenbaum and Rubin (1983b) suggest the use of so called balancing scores b(X), i.e. functions of the relevant observed covariates X such that the conditional distribution of X given b(X) is independent of assignment into treatment. In the summer of 1587 a group of nearly 120 men and women from England arrived on Roanoke Island, one of a chain of barrier islands now known as the Outer Banks, off the coast of what is now known as North Carolina. This group of settlers set sail from England with the mission of making the Queen s wishes a reality. John White was appointed Governor of the colony by Sir Walter Raleigh. Sometime later, Governor White set sail for England to gather supplies for the colony. Before he had left for England, White and the colonists had discussed leaving the settlement and founding the city of Raleigh on the mainland, so the fact that the colonists were no longer in the settlement would not have been surprising to White. The colonists also worked out signals to communicate with those who were coming to their assistance. For example, if they left due to an attack, they were supposed to carve a Maltese cross over their doorposts to signal that they were in distress. Heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, aluminum, arsenic and others accumulate in our body over time through daily exposure. These toxins are stored in our organs and can gradually corrode our health. Since they are so tightly bound within the cell, an agent must be used with a strong attraction to the toxins to pull them out. That agent is the chemical EDTA. This is a man made amino acid that is FDA approved for the removal of lead. It has been in use since the 1950s. It is also known to have an affinity for other heavy metals and can pull those out of the cells of the body as well. Once bound to the EDTA, the heavy metals are flushed out through the urine. Disputes have occurred over whether or not the athletes should be able to display their opinion to the public even if the demonstration offends our armed forces. Many say the protests are useless because the kneeling is diverting the public eye from the original issue; the anti protest collection also agrees that the kneeling is not unconstitutional, and it should be restricted by the owners of the teams. Though all of the arguments can be assumed to be correct, one might could argue that these athletes were given this high platform so that they could be allowed to use their freedom of speech to express their views about inequality, injustice, police brutality, etc. and to show equality through the unification of their teams. This act of defiance against the National Anthem was said to be disrespectful to the men and women that have protected this country. Many war veterans agree with this because they believe that the athletes are dishonoring the symbol that gave each of us our freedoms. I stand for our flag and anthem, and I kneel for our fallen. It can be seen how the Securities and Exchange Commission together with the Department of Justice opened an indictment charging several people with conspiracy, tax fraud and money laundering involving up to $500 million in assets routed through offshore shell corporations that allowed clients to influence stock prices and hide their gains. Generally, the fraudsters take control of an enterprise and offer to sell a chunk of shares usually to the unsuspecting public with promises of very high returns. Promoters broadcast the company s prospects by telling financiers to get in early before the rest of the market dives in the pump. Shares are often bought and sold between fraudsters to give the appearance of active trading, further amplifying interest as brokers contact clients to buy the stock. Once the price starts rising, the control block can be dumped on the market, leaving investors with shares in a nearly worthless business (Bouraoui, Mehanaoui Bahli, 2012). Together they challenge the reader to accept their fate and make the most of the time we have on Earth. Both authors employ various poetic devices and prosody to give an understanding of death. John Donne s Holy Sonnet 10 serves as both a direct address towards death, and as a sermon on what happens after death for those who practice Christianity. The speaker gives reassurance to those who may fear death and what comes afterwards. Even though the speaker is discussing a somber matter, the overall tone of the poem is uplifting thereby further challenging the typical way people view death. The speaker belittles death when he/she questions death s magnitude and power over humans. Throughout the poem, the speaker compares death to a restful slumber. Rests are temporary states that bring much pleasure (Line 6). By relating death to sleep, the speaker says death is not permanent, but rather a momentary phase that ultimately will bring happiness. Death is a phase and after one short sleep past, we wake eternally (Line 13). This relates to the Christian belief ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. The Importance Of Teacher Attrition In Education Twenty three percent of teachers leave the teaching profession during their first five years of teaching (Elisa Shernoff, Ane Marín ̃ ez Lora, Stacy Frazier, Lara Jakobsons, Marc Atkins, Deborah Bonner, 2011, p. 465). Teaching has been a career before writing was established, however there has never been such a high attrition rate in teaching. Attrition is defined as a reduction in workforce without firing of personnel, as when workers resign or retire and are not replaced (CITATION Dictionary .com). While the current flow of students training to become teachers is still strong, novice teachers do not find enough encouragement in their first few years of teaching to remain in the profession. Instead, their experiences cause them to feel discouraged and disrespected to the point that they do not believe that teaching is where they belong. This crisis regarding education sustainability needs to be redefined to include the sustainability of teachers. Sustaining future education relies on creating and hiring teachers who enjoy being part of a learning environment. The use of student teaching, teacher collaboration, and less mandated learning goals can lower the teacher attrition rate and sustain education. Also, although some people believe that other resources are more important to sustain, education is going to be detrimental to the success of future societies. Student teaching can help lessen teacher attrition by giving the pre service teacher experience in a classroom, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Charles The Lamb Analysis In the two illuminations, a unity of appearance and attributes links Charles to the Lamb and sets in parallel the ways in which the earthly and heavenly rulers are honored. On facing pages, the Carolingian illuminators depicted parallel terrestrial and celestial ceremonies of the aurum coronarium. Just as Christ receives tribute in his heavenly court, so his terrestrial counterpart and reflection, Charles the Bald, receives homage in his earthly reign. The Lamb is in the dome of heaven; the king is under the baldachin s dome symbolizing heaven. Christ s exaltation in heaven is set against Charles imperial exaltation. This parallelism between terrestrial and heavenly rulers had been portrayed earlier in the diptych of Charles s Prayerbook (Figs. 6 7) and in the gable ivories of the Throne of Peter (Fig. 4). As Robert Deshman demonstrated, both the diptych and the ivories imply a concept of imitatio Christi (imitation of Christ) that exalts the ruler in his temporal office and likens him to Christ. In the Codex Aureus, the theme of Christ s triumph and exaltation has implications for the meaning of the exalted king represented on the opposite page. Charles s portrait as Christomimetes (imitator of Christ) not only enhances his status and authority among humans but it also conveys divine inspiration. The Carolingian king is to be considered the divinely appointed ruler on earth and the features of his portrait the baldachin and the hand of God support this image. The ... If the fisherman does not arrive at the large vessel within the given time, he may be lost at sea forever. Aimed at teenagers and adults, it cleverly shows the flaws within society and how we will never change. This timeless classic was converted into an hour and ten minute long film (in 1954) which is suitable and supposedly appealing to young children. However, the conversion between the novella and the cartoon meant having to cut down and alter some of the storyline and characters within the novella to suit this age range but at the same time, trying not to lose the basic structure of the novella and the messages given out by George Orwell throughout the book. I felt that on a whole, the cartoon version of Animal Farm did not maintain the textual integrity to the novella. However, you find that this is the case with most films that have been converted from books. Although the basic storyline of the novella was suitable for children, the meaning behind it was beyond the understanding of this age range. I feel that the producers took on a very hard task to try and convert this high standard novella into a film for all ages. The purpose of the novella was clear, it is a piece of political satire, mainly concerning the Russian Revolution. I did not feel however, that this came across in the film in any way. Water is also a scarce commodity among some communities around the world. Privatization of water would allow firms to make it a profitable venture. Both domestic and global business environments have interesting ethical dilemmas to navigate. Peter Brabeck, the former Nestle CEO noted that water is not a basic human right but a commodity that should be privatized and controlled. Although the Universal Bill of Human Rights declares that withholding the resource takes away human dignity it fails to specifically grant the right to water. However, if water is a basic human right, it should be justly and freely available to all. Therefore, water is a right entitled to all human beings and thus should not be privatized. Proponents of water privatization assert that private production of water is advantageous for both taxpayers and consumers. The level of moral courage is defined by how willing one is to follow through on one s beliefs. However, this can be seen in two ways: one can either stand up for one s own beliefs or be willing to accept compromise in them if necessary. However, his previous steadfast ways prevented him from stopping Antigone s sentence; therefore, leading to Antigone s suicide, Haemon s suicide and finally Eurydice, which gains him more wisdom but more solitude as well as he mourns their deaths. In taking the courage to free Antigone he sacrificed his pride, however in sticking to his values too long, he forsook his family first. Additionally, in Children of Men, despite how I stated that Theo followed through on his values to display moral courage, he also abandoned his values first, showing moral courage. Before Theo was approached by his ex wife to help the fishes, he was a somewhat reclusive man who only cared for himself for the most part. He did not want to have much to do with any of the apocalyptic world. On the contrary, when his moment of truth arrived after learning the true colors of the fishes he was quick to abandon his previous values, unlike Creon, to save Kee and her baby for the future of mankind. Overall, the courage to abandon one s values can be equally as courageous or even more than standing up for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
