What Is The Light Of Nature By Claude Monet
There are three paintings about light of nature by Claude Monet, which are Impression Sunrise,
Boulevard des Capucines, and Woman with a Parasol Madame Monet and Her Son. The first
painting about light of nature is Impression Sunrise was completed by Claude Monet in 1872. This
oil on canvas painting presents a misty morning scene of a French harbor as the artist stood on the
shore observing the sunrise. Monet emphasized on natural lighting. The Sunis shown in the center
slightly to the right of the picture. ImpressionSunrise is mostly covered in blue with a small orange
hue that represents the Sun and sunlight against the sky and the sea. He used dark blue to show
silhouette of ships at the port and used dark navy to show small boats.... Show more content on

Boulevard des Capucines is set out in a crowded Parisian on a street on a winter day. This
painting is vertically divided into two portions by trees in the middle. On the left side,
underneath the tree branches, there are grey pigments that suggest roofs of horse carriages. On
the other side, Monet used short dark bold brush stroke to indicate groups of people walking on
snowy pavement. He used random composition on this oil canvas painting to overview the
bustled Parisians. The high point of view perspective suggested that Monet painted this picture
inside a building on the second floor where he looked through the window down to the boulevard.
Muted tone is predominant in order to enhance the feeling of snowy day .The receding buildings
in the back are behind the winter fog. Monet used bright blue reflecting onto the building s roof to
contrast with the trees brown tone. The disparity of these two colors accentuate the sunlight that
shine down from the above. Monet applied very little details to the painting. He used short and
quick strokes which create gritty texture of to form individuals moving in a great haste. At first, I
felt dishearten because of the tone color used on the painting. The brown and blue tones added a
depressing sense to it. But after I closely examined the painting, I noticed the energy of the people.
Even though Monet did not clearly draw the

A Research Study On Business Education
Running head: LEVERAGING RESEARCH TOENHANCE UNDERGRADUATE BUSINESS
EDUCATION1
Leveraging research to enhance undergraduate business education
Luke Maass
Northwest Missouri State University
Authors note
This paper was prepared for
Student involvement in research activities in U.S. business schools used to be primarily offered to
graduate students. However, many universities are now offering undergraduate research
opportunities that can provide students with a deep understanding of the academic environment.
Research allows the exploration and questioning of significant issues in today s world.
This type of learning can provide students with more understanding than can be taught in a
classroom or read in a textbook. Research challenges students to engage in the process of
identifying and evaluating major issues and trends impacting businesses and society. Students also
explore potential business implications that can drive innovation (The Boyer Commission). One
goal of business school research is to enhance the prestige of the business school where the
research is done. There is evidence that research does achieve that goal, as research has,
historically, been regarded as the primary determinant of a school s prestige (Armstrong, 1995:
103). For example, Business Week magazine has added a research influence measure in its ratings
of business schools. If a school scores highly on that measure, it enhances the overall prestige
ranking.

Inside The Mouse Analysis

the essay From Inside the Mouse: Work and Play at Disney World, the writer, Anna Willis voices
her opinion of Disney World and her experience when she went to visit. She made comments on
the fact that family is the basic social unit, everything is too safe and not enough of the real
world, and they charge too much and try to entice consumers to an extreme extent. She responds
very negatively to these facts but as a Disney Spokesperson, I am here to view these as a positive
part of Disney World. Despite Willis s opinion of Disney World, I believe that Disney is family
focused, the happiest place on earth, and is invested in their consumers. The first opinion

To Kill A Mockingbird Court Lessons
Can a nine year old learn important lessons from a very adult court case? Well, Jem and Scout
overall during Tom Robinson s trial see things only lawyers kids see and learn some hard truths
of society. Harper Lee, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird, make the two together find that
there are a lot of trifles in the court systems, and they should be fixed. Jem and Scout during the
trial have realized three grave truths about life, people are stubborn, some things are done just to
give people a reason, and people will do whatever they need to do to get what they want. They
first lesson I identified that the two kids learned was that people are stubborn. The first time the
kids are revealed to this is when they go to the black church and they see that the whites are very
different and separate. One thing that the blacks did was only use one hymn book, and Jem and
Scout couldn t believe it...but they both heard it (121). Another... Show more content on

The first piece of concrete evidence was when Mayella made a huge deal on that Tom advanced
on her, giving no hard evidence, and moved all the focus off of that she took advantage of Tom

covered her mouth with her hands and sobbed (179). Then she suggested that she Didn t want
him doing her like he done Papa, trying to make him out left handed (179). The last piece of this
important lesson is when Mr. Ewell agreed with all of Heck Tate s description of Mayella s
injuries, even though he couldn t explain them himself. He says that I holds with Tate... he seemed
to have forgotten his previous humiliation from the bench (176). This was the most important
lesson for the kids to learn so that they can understand that life is unfair and people will do

Are Competitive Sports Good For Kids
Of late, people have talked about how competitive sports for kids aren t good. They talk about
injuries, and stress, but there is also another side to this argument. There are many reasons why
competitive sports are very good for kids health, such as they help fight obesity, they improve kids
mental health, and they help prevent diseases. First off, sports for youth, helps prevent obesity
for kids, in a time where that is becoming a real problem. Competitive sports, force kids to
practice, a few times a week, and play games. This will help kids get out of their houses, and be
active, which prevents them from becoming obese. A study by Stanford shows that competitive
sports do keep kids underweight. They enrolled 13 kids from the ages of 10 12 in a soccer team,
for three months. After these three months, all of the kids were above the... Show more content on

Lots of children, are mentally unstable today, which is very bad. Competitive sports although, helps
fight this problem in our youth. According to the Journal of American Academy of Child
Adolescent Psychiatry, female students who exercise about 6 7 days a week have a 25% chance of
feeling sad, while females who exercise 0 1 days a week have a 37% chance of being sad(The
Aspen Institute, 2016). This shows that kids who play sports, or are active have a less chance of
being sad, or mentally unstable, than kids who don t play sports, or who aren t active. Lastly,
competitive sports reduces the chance of kids getting diseases, in their youth, or later in their life.
Cancer is one of the biggest causes of death in the world. Competitive sports help reduce the
chance of 13 different types of cancer, and other health problems, such as heart disease, stroke, and
heart attacks, which will help kids live longer, and healthier(The Aspen Institute, 2016). This shows
that sports will help fight cancer, and prevent kids from getting cancer when they are young, which

Clare Of Assisi Analysis
Good morning Mr Campbell and students. Today I will be talking about Clare of Assisi,
analysing how she was a revolutionary and radical reformer of the Church. Chiara Offreduccio,
known now as Clare of Assisi , was born July 16, 1194. Raised into a wealthy family, Clare was due
to marry a wealthy man when her eyes were drawn to the attention of Francis of Assisiwho was
preaching the message of the one true God.Claire started a small group of nuns dedicating
themselves to god by eating no meat, wearing no shoes and living in very poor conditions. This
resulted in the formation of The Poor Clares (sometimes referred to as Poor Ladies).
During the time of Clare of Assisi, the Church was faced with corruption and barbarian attacks.
But a main point of crisis was poverty. During the 13th century there was a growing population of
poor people and the church was unsure about what their responsibilities were. Agatha Clark states
that, Catholic monastic factions felt that poverty was a holy way of life and that feeding the poor
worked against the will of God. Canonists believed that the Church should help the poor because
that is what Jesus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gathering followers was her main priority. She relied on St Francis to gather followers from a
distance and she taught the women of Assisi that God is all you need to survive. Attempting to
survive on nothing (no meat, no shoes, no hair and poor living conditions) was a challenge.
Clare was living without extravagant clothes and decent meals and all the other basic essentials
of normal living. Clare believed that God was all you needed to survive. Finally another
challenge St Clare faced was severe illness to which she refused to succumb, finding joy in
serving the Lord instead. In the face of all of the challenges in her lifetime St Clare of Assisi was
quoted as saying, They say that we are too poor, but can a heart which possesses the infinite God

President James Madison Essay
President James Madison
James Madison, (1751 1836), 4th President of the United States of America. Although he served
eight years each as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, as secretary of state, and as
president, Madison s principal contribution to the founding of the United States was as Father of the
Constitution.
Madison s place among the Founding Fathers reveals the essential qualities of his public career.
Jefferson had a superior vision of the potential for life under republican government, a greater
capacity for leadership, and a special gift for the memorable phrase, but Madison had a more subtle
and incisive political sense.
Madison s ancestors, probably all from England, settled in Virginia along the ... Show more content

He also attacked Patrick Henry, who did not believe that the Constitution fully protected Virginia
and its people, in dramatic and finally successful debate at the Virginia ratifying convention .
Madison and Jefferson viewed republican government as resting on the virtues of the people,
sustained by the self reliance of an agricultural economy and the benefits of public education, with
government itself remaining mild and responsive to grass roots impulses. This attitude became the
foundation of the Democratic Republican Party, which was fundamentally at odds with Hamilton s
concept of a strong central government.
Madison and Jefferson then seized on widespread public sympathy for France s expansive,
revolutionary exploits to promote republican sentiment in the United States. Madison bitterly
opposed Jay s Treaty, feeling that it made the United States dependent on England and in fact tied
America to the corrupt power politics diplomacy of the Old World. With the final ratification of
Jay s Treaty, Madison felt that a commercial junta that cared very little for the republican character
of the nation had gained control. The war like attitude toward France of President John Adams,
administration alarmed Madison. The XYZ AFFAIR brought the United States and France close to
war. During the continiuous turmoil in the United States, the

Critical Points Within The Civil Rights Movement Essay
Gladwell uses many critical points within the Civil Rights Movement to support his claim the most
notable of which is of the Greensboro sit ins. In the early 60s, seventy thousand students, all across
the South and Southwest took part in these revolutionary demonstrations (Gladwell). By this time
Jim Crow laws were well in effect; the South and Southwest were plagued by racial discrimination
and segregation. The consequences of disobeying these laws were brutally severe: unjust arrests,
beatings, lynching s, and even murder were subjected upon the African American community.
Oppositionists, such as the Ku Klux Klan, retaliated in the form of violence and intimidation.
Despite the grave risks involved, demonstrators heeded the call to action because they were deeply
and personally connected to the cause. However, this radical assemblage of protestors did not
occur on a whim or by chance. Instead, it all began when four black college students decided to risk
their safety and possibly their lives by defying the discriminatory beliefs and norms embedded
within the fabric of American society. Joseph McNeil, Franklin McCain, David Richmond, and
Ezell Blair were all close friends. They spent nights together chugging beers and woefully discussed
the injustices that pervaded their lives. These interactions were personal, direct, and intimate. Their
interactions were not limited by the obscurities of text messaging, emoticons, acronyms, or ominous
punctuations. Likewise, their

Alzheimer s Hypothesis
Did you know that Alzheimer s disease kills more people than both prostate and breast cancer put
together? This neurodegenerative illness is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States,
but not only does Alzheimer s affect the five million Americans living with it. People caring for
those with the disease gave up around eighteen billion of their own hours this past year to provide
the needed service. What s even more staggering is that these caregivers put in these hours without
pay. Alzheimer s is a serious concern to scientists, but the disease is rooted in the most complex,
confusing part of the human body, the brain. This is a reason why an effective cure for the disease
has been unavailable in the past, but new developments... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a degenerative disease, which means it gets worse over time and as of right now, there is no
way to reverse its negative effects. Scientists are not entirely sure what causes Alzheimer s, but the
widely accepted theory is known as the amyloid hypothesis of Alzheimer s. This hypothesis states
that Alzheimer s is caused by a buildup of plaques in the brain that damage or kill neurons. These
plaques form when sticky proteins called amyloid beta clump together. Amyloid beta proteins are
produced when amyloid precursor protein (APP) is chopped into multiple pieces by Beta site
Amyloid precursor protein Cleaving Enzyme 1 (BACE1) and an enzyme referred to as gamma
secretase. The process begins with APP, which sticks out from the membranes of cells, is cut by
BACE1, which makes small pieces called sAPP beta, which are unrelated to the development of
Alzheimer s. The small fragment that still remains in the cell membrane is then chopped by gamma
secretase, giving off amyloid beta. There are two main types of treatments that are being researched
that scientists believe could slow or even completely eliminate Alzheimer s, antibody therapies and

Peace Conference Essay
During the peace conference simulation, my character was Tamir and I am on the Israeli side.
My character s beliefs are that I am willing to compromise on the West Bank, the Refugees being
allowed to return Israel as a compromise, and the city Jerusalem. Also, my other character s belief
is that there is no compromise on security in Israel. Those are the beliefs of my character as Tamir
in the peace conference simulation.
For my character I played in the peace conference simulation, I feel out of 5 I would give myself
a 3.5 out of 5. I rated myself at this score because I could not persuade the leaders to accept my
ideas for the West Bank because they felt that giving 45% of the West Bank was a small number
for our first proposal. Another reason was that the leaders did not like my idea of letting 350,000
refugees back into Israel out of 700,000 because they thought the number of refugees was to many.
Also, with Jerusalem, I offered 45% to be given to the Palestinians, but the leaders felt there really

presentation style that managed to keep me up so early in the morning. In addition, while much of
the presentation was admittedly a recap of information I already knew, there were a few pieces of
valuable information presented. One bit of information was the deconstruction of the personal
statement. I did not know there were actually two components to the personal statement: the
disadvantage statement and the personal statement itself. I got to listen to one medical student s
personal statement that described her immigrant family upbringing and how her relationship with
her mother shaped her goals. In her personal statement, she described her experiences and included
specific examples that ultimately formed a narrative. One of the examples she used was her
shadowing experience with a primary care physician I had heard before that medical schools wants
to know why you want to study medicine, but when I tried to write something resembling a
personal statement, it still felt like something was missing. Hearing this example clarified for me
that the personal statement doesn t have to be some literary wonder, it just has to be genuine and
articulate. I heard her story and I thought, I could write something like that.
In addition, the panel also clarified

Cybercrime Challenges Of Public Universities
2.3 Cybercrime Challenges in public universities
2.3.1 High Level network threats.
Viruses: University students are heavy users of social media like Facebook, Twitter, and
YouTube. It is impossible to totally block access to this social media on a university campus
which can be used to spread a host of malware that can spread like wildfire through social media
sites like the hilarious video attack on Facebook earlier this year. Quickly identifying which devices
are infected is essential to maintaining network security and protecting crucial data.
Phishing and Infrastructure Attacks: Public universities provide online services which provide vast
information for social engineers to use as credentials. Infrastructure attacks, are also common as
Universities are pretty valuable for computing power, and for bandwidth to store traffic or use for
DDoS attacks attackers aren t just after the intellectual property, but are attempting to gain control
of infrastructure they can leverage.
BYOD (Bring Your Own Device): Students and lecturers are now coming to work with their own
devices on campuses across the country. From iPads to new Android phones, new intelligent
devices are launched daily with upgraded versions of operating systems that are ripe for infection
and ready to infect the institutions network. This creates many security issues for campus security
practitioners, who must secure an ever increasing number of devices.

There are procedures that would have to be adapted in implementing a business relationship with

In the part of the distributor this would be additional income, while in Spectrum the same is

Adam Smith s Economic Philosophy
If I was to create the perfect society today, I would use Adam Smith s economic philosophy. Adam
Smith is known today as a modern philosopher. In order for a society to prosper, Smith believed
that their economy would have to function as a capitalist economy. The perfect, most efficient,
society would include specifically Smith s capitalist ideas of the division of labor, the sufficient pay
of workers, and would not include the use of slavery. These ideas will make the perfect society
prosper.
The most important component of having the perfect, most efficient society, would be the division
of labor. The division of labor consists of one person doing one small task, another person doing
another small task, and other workers continuing the same process until the final product is
complete. An example of this would be the use of an assembly line while making pins, as Smith
mentions in his book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. Smith
explains that the larger pin manufacture he saw with many workers, was more efficient than the
small manufacture of only ten employed workers who could make upwards of forty eight thousand
pins in a day (Smith, 4). Smith then goes on to explain that, But if they had all wrought separately
and independently...in consequence of a proper division and combination of their different
operations (Smith, 4 5). Smith is saying that the workers could have made more than forty eight
thousand pins in a day if they divided there

The Theory Of Child Rearing
1. Dr. John Watson, in his advocation in favor of nurture stated essentially, as we had discussed
in some of our class sessions, that his approach to child rearing would have a direct impact on
outcomes. It could be argued that child rearing is the one thing that could counter cultural
influences as being more impactful. We discussed closed cultures such as those from the east
where members work in a collectivist way to benefit society as a whole. Then we have the
individualist societies similar to the western cultures where individual achievement for self is
considered to be of more value. Which I believe contributes more to selfishness and an over
emphasis on the aspects of I. This also takes me back to the behavior modification class I had as
an undergraduate. That there are certain ways to behave in different social settings that may be
presented to us on a daily basis. Such as we all behave differently in a social settings such as,
school, work, home, the mall, etc.. Behaviors in one location may be acceptable but not another
location. A good example would be that you can walk around naked in the privacy of your own
home but not at school. While a closed, collectivist culture may look down upon what they may
perceive as negative behaviors of those in their group, other outsiders from other cultures may be
given some slack because they don t know proper behavior, even if they are trying. Those from
these collectivist societies that travel to the west cannot

Michael Curtis Soule Case Study
The straightforward case, State of Montana vs. Michael Curtis Soule, appeared to be Vehicular

end, ultimately altered the case into a complex situation of who done it. Such small errors like
missing evidence and being caught up in the moment can change the outcome of any case to guilty

that could have been the game changer.

When arrived, he instructed nurses to take possessions of Michael s clothes and to put them in a
locked locker. Trooper Josh Brown became the primary investigating officer of the crash. He
went to the accident scene early afternoon the next day after the crash. Showing up to the scene a
day later, Brown did not see the vehicle or the state of the vehicle. He was involved in witness
interviews, measurements of the crash scene, assisted with serving a search warrant of the vehicle,
downloaded the control module of the airbag and prepared an accident report. On February 22nd,
2012, Brown participated in the processing of the vehicle with Joe Pasternak from the Montana
Crime Lab. Brown testified Pasternak collected a swab of stain on the driver s side dash and
marked it as Item 15. Brown could not located the evidence to deliver to the Crime Lab. Brown
has attended a basic accident investigation training at the Montana Patrol Academy. He relied on
Hospital tests rather than the State Crime Lab s test on Michael s blood. Hospital results are to
be directly for medical purposes and must not be used for legal testing. Brown later admitted he
is not familiar with drug screening test and should have consulted with a toxicologist. Brown
who has received the accident training did no calculations and never used a computer to assume
who was the driver. He also later admitted, that the State never collected any evidence from the
guardrail. His opinion was that Michael was driving the vehicle due to the fact he was found near
the driver s door. He interviewed Gloria Wells who describe Michael as being in front of the vehicle
and was scooting . Gloria then drew a diagram and showed Michael in front of the vehicle. Brown
described the forces created inside the vehicle were a forward motion. DNA testing revealed
Michael s DNA was found on the driver s side airbag. Brown

Surface Tension Between Polarity And Hydrogen Bonds
Polarity is the separation of an electric charge, leading to a molecule or its chemical groups
having a dipole moment. Polar molecules interact through dipole dipole, intermolecular forces,
and hydrogen bonds. In the five labs that we did, all of them were related to surface tension, in
one way or another. Surface tension is the tension of a surface film of a liquid caused by the
attraction of the particles in the surface layer by the bulk of the liquid. Therefore, polarity using
hydrogen bonding, and a difference in electronegativity creates surface tension to hold a paperclip,
cohesive and adhesive forces repelling and attracting a staple to oil and dish soap, and
intermolecular forces diverting food coloring into different directions when dish soap was added to
milk.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

on the surface of the water, without sinking. This was caused because of hydrogen bonding and
surface tension. H2O (water) is a hydrogen bond, and it became attracted to other hydrogen
bonds that were present in the beaker as well. Because the bonds became attracted to each other
they created surface tension, where the water molecules, also known as polar molecules (since
water is polar) are holding tight enough to support the paperclip. However, when soap was put
into the water, it disrupted the order of the water molecules. Originally, when the molecules were
holding the paperclip, their negative and positive charges were packed together next to each of
their opposite charges. Soap being added, disrupted the order of the water

The Mammalian Reproductive and Endocrine System
The mammalian reproductive and endocrine system
Homeostasis
Homeostasis taken from the Greek words meaning homoios similar and stasis standing still, it is a
term used to explain the body s ability in maintaining a dynamic equilibrium within its internal
environment requiring the coordination of many physiological processes. The term Homeokinesis
is the process used to maintain and achieve homeostatsis with kinesis meaning movement would, as
the internal workings of the body are on constant movement to maintain this state of equilibrium.
Maintenance of homeostatic values are controlled and communicated through out the body via the
endocrine and nervous systems.
An understanding of both these concepts is pivotal to the understanding of the physiological needs
and requirements of the mammalian body, the nervous system and endocrine systems are the body s
means of communicating this balance in conjunction with external systems in turn relaying
messages back to the organs systems in their own specialized ways to target organs. Any deviation
from this fundamental state of internal wellbeing are relayed to the hypothalamus which coordinates
the responses needed to return the body back to a state of equilibrium via feed back loops. Though
these systems work differently they are not independent of one another and help maintain an
organism s balanced state.
The nervous system provides coordinated response to changes in the external or internal
environment, responses are

The Leaflet Written by Friends of the Earth
The Leaflet Written by Friends of the Earth
This is a leaflet written by Friends of the Earth where the audience targeted are British, the
mahogany furniture lovers. The layout of the leaflet is eye catching forces the readers to read on.
This leaflet was produced in 1992 for the Friends of the Earth. The writer was an Indian from Brazil
s Amazonian forests. It was produced to gain support from British public and to gain their help to
stop deforesting in Brazil.
The writer uses eye catching big bold letters in the heading along with the word YOU to attract
readers. The writer uses this word for two reasons, one being involving the readers with the leaflet
and secondly so that they feel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trees give the fruit we eat. We want the honey from the trees, the fruits and all there is to be
eaten in the forest (line93 96) . The repetition of word we emphasises that these are the survival
means for the Indians and these means should not be taken away from them by deforesting. The
writer also uses personifications to win audience s hearts and says, many other trees are damaged
in the death struggles of the big mahoganies (line 91 92) and it is greed that is killing us, and the
trees and animals (line98 99) . The writer indirectly blames the British people for the murders of
Indians and the deforesting of Amazonian forests by saying, your greed for mahogany. You in
Britain buy more than half the mahogany Brazil produces (100 101) .
The aim of the leaflet is to stop the deforestation for the sake of mahogany and the writer
emotionally plays with reader s hearts readers by involving them and with his/hers excellent use
of emotive language. The writer draws reader s attention with the words like, look (line102) and
listen (104) followed by exclamation marks and metaphors. The writer says, That deep red glow in
your mahogany dinner table is the blood of murdered Indians (line 102 103) and another metaphor
with the use of alliteration, The clatter of your mahogany luxuries is the gunfire that killed Indian
children . These two metaphors are very

Dance, A And Universal Way Of Expression From The Human Being
Dance
A Close View to Flamenco Dance is a way of expression from the human being. In every culture
regarding the traditions, dance is a natural and universal way of a human activity. Dance can have
various styles and forms; in the early days dance was a way of a religious expression or as a
secular mean. Nowadays, dance is a varied performance art. The ways of express dance in the
present days have changed, but dance has always been a way of natural expression towards
something enjoyable to the soul. During this project, I got the chance to experience deeply the
form of dance: Flamenco. Flamenco is a folkloric Spanish dance full of acoustic sounds that
comes even from the shoes of the dancers. The Flamenco dance presentation in the Columbia
Restaurant is full of professionalism and passion. When entering the restaurant the Spanish air
is able to breath and the culture is expressed in every corner of the place. Flamenco is a folkloric
dance form directed from Spain. Flamenco traveled all the way from Spain to America to give a
piece of Spanish culture all around the world. The purpose of a folkloric dance is to bring the
audience to be participants of the performance more than just an entertainment to the audience. In
this presentation, the audience is involved in such way that people can feel free to clap according
to the Flamenco style and give those encouraging Eh! to and with the performers. There are
essential parts for a Flamenco choreography to be perfect. In

Examples Of Self Awareness In Fahrenheit 451
RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Authoritarianism, Knowledge, and Self awareness in Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451
Background and Rationale
Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel published in 1950. The novel takes place in
the futuristic American society where technology dominates in people s lives. This is an era of
prosperous technological advances, but people s life quality is bad. The people live their life
without knowledge, wisdom, and self awareness. People are not critical because all books are
banned, and illegal. The people think the same thing and they look alike also. The government uses
propaganda to manipulate the people. Fear is the effective method the government uses to control
them.

The Phony Theme of The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger In life there comes a time when
everyone thinks that they are surrounded by phoniness. This often happens during the teen
years when the person is trying to find a sense of direction. Holden Caulfield, a 16 year old teen
ager is trying to find his sense of direction in J.D. Salinger s, The Catcher In The Rye. Holden has
recently been expelled from Pency Prep for failing four out of his five classes. He decides to

Believe In Divorce
Do you believe in divorce? Do you believe it is better for the child or children in the middle of
the divorce? I believe it isn t, because a girl now 17 named Kristina Herrndobler says even though
she has no memory of the trauma, but she still has an abiding skepticism of marriage. Also, in the
United States almost 50% of marriages end in divorce, which means 50% of people in the U.S will
either see the effects of divorce or feel them first hand. This should not be taken lightly because a
portion of that 50% are children and since they are so impressionable, being that children are

I believe differently, because I ve been through two divorces and in actuality they often make
things more tense and cause more arguments than before the divorce was even done and over
with. Divorce comes with hurt, sorrow, and many negative effects on the future of everyone
involved. Divorce gives children an increased risk of depression, anxiety, anger issues, trust
issues, learning disabilities and other psychological problems that they will have to deal with
for the rest of their lives which they have a lot left to live of. As I said above even a woman now
26 has fears of being with someone any less than perfect because of what she went through as a
child. Research has shown that the trauma of divorce follows everyone involved through the rest
of their lives even if it is the past and even if all that follows them is memories it is all still
negative. Divorce comes with custody battles and with those come arguing and tension that is
unnecessary which leads to more frustration and sadness which all comes down to just complete
negativity. On top of all of that it brings upon unnecessary financial problems that could be
avoided through therapy and even just being civilized and not being selfish. So before you say
divorce is better for the well being go and check some statistics because 99% of them state the

The Importance Of Inclusion In Early Childhood Education
The importance of every student being able to get ample opportunity in the classroom is very
imperative. However, there are times when teaching and educating in the class does not give
everyone that same opportunity thus creating a problem or difficulty for students to all feel

One specialized instruction that is important is to read the material or introduce books that have
children with disabilities in it. This will help show the differences are okay and that everyone has
strengths and weaknesses (Willis, 2006). Something else I have to do is truly comprehended the
understudy and their handicap, accordingly permitting me to have the capacity to unmistakably

Ralph Waldo Emerson Introduction
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ralph Waldo Emerson was born on May 25, 1803, in Boston, Massachusetts to Ruth Haskins
Emerson and William Emerson, minister (Waldo, 1983). Emerson eventually grew up to also
become a leader in the Church. The social environment of Boston at the turn of the nineteenth
century would progressively be stamped by the conflict between its more seasoned conservation
values and the radical change developments and social optimists that were risen in the decades
leading through the 1840s. Emerson was one of five surviving children. Waldo, as Emerson was
called, entered Harvard at age fourteen, instructed in the summer, held tables, and with his brother
Edward, composed papers for other understudies to pay his costs. Graduating in the center of his
course, Emerson instructed in his brother William s school until 1825 when he entered the
Holiness School at Harvard (Waldo, 1983). Emerson also opened his own school in Chelmsford,
Massachusetts. The design of Emerson s mental life was molded in his early years. Ralph Waldo
Emerson became known as the voice of intellectual culture in the United States.
Emerson s early life also included preaching after being ordained in 1829 to serve the Old Second
Church until it no longer pleased him in 1831. The early death of his wife, Ellen Tucker, from
tuberculosis caused Emerson to give up on the church and resign in 1932. He began to engage in
altercations often with the church about Communion and public prayer. In one of his

Evaluation Of A Management Development Program
Management Development Program
As stated in the Hall Lecture Five, development is the effort to improve an employees abilities to
handle a variety of assignments to cultivate employees capabilities beyond those required by the
current job (2016). In order for a management development program to be effective, a performance
management and performance appraisal system should be developed or created. A performance
management system should be consistent with the strategic mission of the organization, beneficial
as a development tool, useful as an administrative tool, legal job related, viewed as generally fair by
employees, and effective in documenting employee performance (Belhaven University, 2016).
Firstly, understanding the difference between performance management and performance appraisal
is key when developing and comparing a management development program. Performance
management is a series of activities designed to ensure the organization gets the performance it
needs from its employees (Belhaven University, 2016). Performance appraisal is a process of
determining how well employees do their jobs relative to a standard communicating that
information to them (Belhaven University, 2016). The appraisal performance system should
include category scaling methods, graphic rating scales, comparative methods, narrative methods,
and management by objectives or MBO (Belhaven University, 2016).

My Personal Statement Of The Goal Of Education
My Philosophy
I believe that the goal of education is to help students be able to survive and thrive in the real world.
I believe that the role of the teacher is make sure students understand the standards that are set, to
help them grow and to help them get through the school year. I believe that students should keep an
open mind, positive attitude towards school and help those around them. I believe that parents and
community members should help students with schoolwork, supplies and be involved in their
education. I believe that knowledge is power and it is what helps us to survive and thrive in any
situation.
My philosophy consists of student centered teaching. I will use constructivism for scaffolding and
for when beginning a subject. I would use progressivism so students can get to experience real
world situations and to foster their curiosity. I will use existentialism to help with their
individuality and leadership skills. Social Reconstructionism will help with their confidence to face
challenges and to further their social skills. Every student needs to be rewarded and disciplined to
keep a calm and fair environment.
I will start off with having the students explain to me signs they already know or what they have
come up with themselves. It will help me to see where we are starting off at and what are our
strong suits. This is how I will begin any lesson on a new set of signs where they will tell me all
the animals they already know. Then I will start over with all the animals and repeat the animal
signs over. I will use scaffolding, for example, by explaining that the sign for a cat looks like your
petting a cat this will give them something to associate it with. The students will start to get into
groups and have conversations with each other. For example, one student can spell out the
animal, while the other does the sign for the word. This will help them with working and being
social with others. Once they know a certain amount of signs and we have covered the basics. I
will ask the class as a whole what signs they would like to learn and would be beneficial to them.
If the class wants to learn about activities like driving, swimming and more. I will go over as many
as I can to teach them

March 5 2016
1 4 33 , also known as four minutes thirty three seconds of silence , is the most famous and most
controversial musical creation of the American experimental composer John Cage (1921 1992).
Known best for his unusual or different kinds of compositions, Cage composed this piece in 1952
for any instrument or group of instruments and divided it into 3 movements, throughout which the
performer is instructed not to play the instrument during the entire 4 minutes and thirty three
seconds. And despite the fact that it is commonly known as the silent piece , it aims to manifest or

As long as his sight does not leave the stopwatch, he cannot perform it in a different pace (too fast

controlled under predetermined conditions.
On the other hand, the piece in itself and by its nature is in fact more of a matter of chance and
coincidence than it is anything else. That being said, we can fairly confirm that any sound that the
listener hears during its performance is entirely and absolutely due to chance and is in fact not
intended by the performer nor is it even written by the composer.
In conclusion, John Cage s 4 33 is considered one of the most dazzling and confounding musical
pieces. Free of any predeterminations or intentions, this masterpiece is the first and only of its
kind to require a very open mind to grasp it with all the deep meanings it holds. It is never

Disadvantages Of Travel Nursing
The scope of nursing clinical practice goes beyond the treatment of a patient s illness, but is
altruistic in nature; however, the dearth of nursing staff in hospitals has created a caveat in quality
of care motivating the use of travel nursing agencies. To alleviate the health disparities between U.S.
geographic locations, agencies contract nurses through attractive recruiting processes. The
qualifications required for travel nursing and the rationale behind this subset in the nursing
profession will be further corroborated, as well as the consequent quality of life for patients,
traveling nurses, and permanent working staffs affected by travel nursing agencies.
As has been noted, agencies recruit potential travel nurses for temporary assignments. The allure
of being paid to travel to a new location every few weeks is enough for most nurses to want to sign
with a traveling agency, but these agencies ensure their acquisition by incentive. In an online
article, Loree (2016) describes grand prizes the aspiring traveling nurse could potentially obtain;
however, the only prerequisite is having been or currently being employed with a specific health
care agency (para. 4 5). The enticement of additional compensations increases the likelihood of the
nurse to enter into the traveling subset and specifically with said agency. These methods
implemented are not to be confused with the idea that agencies are subservient to the nurses for
potential hire, for the nurses must meet

This coverage is best if a family prefers the convenience and predictability of copayments for
routine health care expenses. In addition, it covers families with young children that have regularly

The Health Savings Account combines a lower cost, high deductible health insurance plan with a
tax favored savings account. HSAs allow you to deposit the money an insurer saves on
premiums into a tax favored HSA, subject to federal limits. The individual uses these savings to
pay qualified health care expenses until the out of pocket maximum is met, then insurance starts
to pay the covered health care costs, once the deductible is met. Any leftover savings roll over
year after year and continues to earn interest. This is a good insurance option if a person wants
more control over how their health care dollars are spent, it has lower monthly premiums and it is a
tax savings.
High Deductible or Traditional insurance is a more economical way to help protect a person s
health. This is a preferred option for those that prefer to pay a higher deductible, understanding that
subsequent covered expenses are paid by the insurance plan. With this plan, the deductible is
higher, but the premium is lower. The individual is responsible to cover minor or routine health

Joseph Stalin Animal Farm Essay
In the Novel animal farm by George Orwell he tells a story about a farm that is taken over by
animals, an allegory of the Russian revolution. In this essay I will show how Napoleon
represents Stalin and what he did during the Russian revolution. When Lenin/Old Major died
there was a power struggle for control between Trotsky/Snowball and Stalin/Napoleon. Trotsky
was a very smart strategist while Stalin was a simple yet effective leader. While not as smart as
Trotsky he was a very effective politician. Stalin thought that Russia was far behind the rest of the
western world. He devised a 5 year plan to get Russia up to speed with the rest of the world. This
is similar to how Napoleon built the windmill. Stalin also created a centralized agriculture... Show

In Animal Farm Napoleon he took credit for the Battle of the Cowshed. When the other Animals
disputed that Napoleon had Squealer tell them that they remembered incorrectly. This is like how
Stalin took credit for the battle of Tsaritsyn. Stalin and Napoleon both led their people by fear.
An example of this in Animal Farm was when the young pigs protested Napoleon being in charge
but suddenly the dogs sitting round Napoleon let out deep menacing growls, and the pigs fell
silent and sat down again. Another thing these two leaders shared was their goal to keep
themselves in power. They both got rid of their enemies by setting up false trials and getting them
to admit to crimes they did not commit. Stalin eventually started trading with the western
countries. Napoleon also began trading with the other, neighboring farms run by humans. Stalin
makes a non aggression pact with Hitler. This is mirrored in Animal Farm where Napoleon makes
an agreement with Mr. Frederick. Hitler eventually attacks Stalin, and in Animal Farm Mr.
Frederick blows up the windmill. You should now be able to see the similarities between these
two people. Both of these people were cruel and selfish, taking power when they got the
opportunity to. Their leadership style was not intelligent but was very effective, utilizing the fear of

Masculinity and Gender Roles
How is gender and gender roles socially constructed? Soulliere states that gender is a cultural
creation that is frequently developed by and represented through popular cultural media such as
advertisements, music, sports, and entertainment television (Soulliere 2006). The article Wrestling
with Masculinity: Messages about Manhood in the WWE by Danielle M. Soulliere (2006),
examines messages about manhood revealed by televised professional wrestling (Soulliere 1).
Messages concerning masculinityand manhood were investigated and compared to the cultural
version of masculinity (Soulliere 2006). Soulliere s research proves that the World Wrestling
Entertainment(WWE) depicts messages, which supports the dominant hegemonic form of
masculinity (Soulliere 2006). To further grasp and understand Soulliere s hypothesis, we must first
examine her research methods and outcomes.
Soulliere states that television programs and advertisements such as the WWE provide gender and
social role models (Soulliere 2006). Soulliere references that the dominant form of masculinity is
associated with various male characteristics that consistently appear in the media. Such attributes
include violence and aggression, emotional restraint, toughness, risk taking, physical strength,
courage, power and dominance, competitiveness, and achievement and success (Soulliere 2006).
Additionally, presentation of men in sports continues to reaffirm the traditional hegemonic notion
of masculinity and Soulliere

involves machining, assembly and painting. Finished units are then packed and shipped. The
financial controller is interested to introduce an activity based costing (ABC) system to allocate (or
distribute) indirect costs to products. Indirect costs, as distinct from direct costs, cannot be
unambiguously linked to specific products. The controller would like to calculate product costs
based on ABC for planning and control, not inventory valuation.
Under an ABC system, the allocation of costs to products is achieved through at least four
analytical steps. Firstly, costs are grouped into activity levels. Secondly, costdrivers are ... Show

Cost Drivers by Activity Level by Division
Cost drivers can be identified for each activity or cost category based on observation, discussions
with management, simulations and statistical studies. The key is to determine the behavior of
indirect costs with respect to activity or resource usage in each activity center (Leslie, 2009). These
efforts have identified the eight cost drivers shown in Table 3.
Direct labor assembly costs are, by their nature, directly traceable to individual products. Therefore
the relevant cost driver for this cost is the number of Direct Assembly Labor Hours. The other 21
cost categories are indirect costs.
At the unit activity level, electricity assembly costs are likely to vary with Direct Labor Hours,
Assembly. Similarly, the three machining costs grouped at the unit activity level are likely to vary
with by the number of Direct Labor Hours, Machining.
Secondly, at the batch activity level, paint cost is likely to vary mainly with the Number of Batches
Processed. Painting activity is the only batch activity at Glaser.
Thirdly, at the product activity level, the two Operations costs are likely to vary mainly with the
Number of Units Produced and the three Sales costs are also likely to vary mainly with the
Number of Units Produced.
Finally, at the facility level, the five Operations costs are likely to vary mainly with the

The Grapes Of Wrath Analysis
Over the course of The Grapes of Wrath, John Steinbeck, the author, breaks the narrative by
chapter. It s broken between the Joad family, the general farming population that was forced to
move, and usually another specific set of people that aren t necessarily pertinent to the story line
and don t usually stick around for more than a couple of chapters, but are used to show another
perspective on the subject matter, like Al and Mae, the cook and the waitress at one of the diners.
While it seems that the general chapters are used to put the Joads into perspective, it is more
likely that the real story is that of all of the farm families moving and that the Joads were actually
only an example, an anchoring point even, in the book, like in the

Advantages Of Qualitative Method
According to Patton, (2001) qualitative method enables the researcher to have a good
knowledge of certain aspects of social life and as such try to make meaning out of it. Data from
qualitative methods comes in form of words which can be recorded and later transcribed, thus
making it easy for the researcher to re frame, re analyze and check the responses at a later time.
Locke, et al., (2000) as cited in Steele, (2008) argued that one of the goals of qualitative method is
to get the understanding about peoples idea of a particular phenomenon. One merit of the method is
that it helps the researcher to fathom the true experience of many people about a concept or a
happening under investigation which other methods may not decipher (Creswell, 1997).... Show

Another advantage of qualitative methods is the use of the open ended questions for collecting the
data. This form of questions allows the participants to answer the questions in a different way by
dictating individual responses which makes the method different from other methods of research.
The method also allows the researcher to gather essential information directly from the affected
participants which he/she may not have known about. More generally, the method can be said to
provide an avenue for respondents to talk freely without necessarily been restricted to certain
answers. Thus, qualitative methods allows the researcher to carefully engage with the respondent,
thus creating a good interactive platform through which the researcher is able to ask questions such
as what happened?, what is your experience?, how do you feel it can be improved? etc. The
method especially the face to face interview technique or observation could provide information
necessary for a further research where little or nothing is known about the topic in question (Patton,

  • 2. What Is The Light Of Nature By Claude Monet There are three paintings about light of nature by Claude Monet, which are Impression Sunrise, Boulevard des Capucines, and Woman with a Parasol Madame Monet and Her Son. The first painting about light of nature is Impression Sunrise was completed by Claude Monet in 1872. This oil on canvas painting presents a misty morning scene of a French harbor as the artist stood on the shore observing the sunrise. Monet emphasized on natural lighting. The Sunis shown in the center slightly to the right of the picture. ImpressionSunrise is mostly covered in blue with a small orange hue that represents the Sun and sunlight against the sky and the sea. Boulevard des Capucines is set out in a crowded Parisian on a street on a winter day. This painting is vertically divided into two portions by trees in the middle. On the left side, underneath the tree branches, there are grey pigments that suggest roofs of horse carriages. On the other side, Monet used short dark bold brush stroke to indicate groups of people walking on snowy pavement. He used random composition on this oil canvas painting to overview the bustled Parisians. The high point of view perspective suggested that Monet painted this picture inside a building on the second floor where he looked through the window down to the boulevard. Muted tone is predominant in order to enhance the feeling of snowy day .The receding buildings in the back are behind the winter fog. Monet used bright blue reflecting onto the building s roof to contrast with the trees brown tone. The disparity of these two colors accentuate the sunlight that shine down from the above. Monet applied very little details to the painting. He used short and quick strokes which create gritty texture of to form individuals moving in a great haste. At first, I felt dishearten because of the tone color used on the painting. The brown and blue tones added a depressing sense to it. But after I closely examined the painting, I noticed the energy of the people. Even though Monet did not clearly draw the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Research Study On Business Education Running head: LEVERAGING RESEARCH TOENHANCE UNDERGRADUATE BUSINESS EDUCATION1 Leveraging research to enhance undergraduate business education Luke Maass Northwest Missouri State University Authors note This paper was prepared for Student involvement in research activities in U.S. business schools used to be primarily offered to graduate students. However, many universities are now offering undergraduate research opportunities that can provide students with a deep understanding of the academic environment. Research allows the exploration and questioning of significant issues in today s world. This type of learning can provide students with more understanding than can be taught in a classroom or read in a textbook. Research challenges students to engage in the process of identifying and evaluating major issues and trends impacting businesses and society. Students also explore potential business implications that can drive innovation (The Boyer Commission). One goal of business school research is to enhance the prestige of the business school where the research is done. There is evidence that research does achieve that goal, as research has, historically, been regarded as the primary determinant of a school s prestige (Armstrong, 1995: 103). For example, Business Week magazine has added a research influence measure in its ratings of business schools. If a school scores highly on that measure, it enhances the overall prestige ranking. ... She made comments on the fact that family is the basic social unit, everything is too safe and not enough of the real world, and they charge too much and try to entice consumers to an extreme extent. She responds very negatively to these facts but as a Disney Spokesperson, I am here to view these as a positive part of Disney World. Despite Willis s opinion of Disney World, I believe that Disney is family focused, the happiest place on earth, and is invested in their consumers. The first opinion ... Well, Jem and Scout overall during Tom Robinson s trial see things only lawyers kids see and learn some hard truths of society. Harper Lee, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird, make the two together find that there are a lot of trifles in the court systems, and they should be fixed. Jem and Scout during the trial have realized three grave truths about life, people are stubborn, some things are done just to give people a reason, and people will do whatever they need to do to get what they want. They first lesson I identified that the two kids learned was that people are stubborn. The first time the kids are revealed to this is when they go to the black church and they see that the whites are very different and separate. Then she suggested that she Didn t want him doing her like he done Papa, trying to make him out left handed (179). The last piece of this important lesson is when Mr. Ewell agreed with all of Heck Tate s description of Mayella s injuries, even though he couldn t explain them himself. He says that I holds with Tate... he seemed to have forgotten his previous humiliation from the bench (176). • 6. Are Competitive Sports Good For Kids Of late, people have talked about how competitive sports for kids aren t good. They talk about injuries, and stress, but there is also another side to this argument. There are many reasons why competitive sports are very good for kids health, such as they help fight obesity, they improve kids mental health, and they help prevent diseases. First off, sports for youth, helps prevent obesity for kids, in a time where that is becoming a real problem. Competitive sports, force kids to practice, a few times a week, and play games. This will help kids get out of their houses, and be active, which prevents them from becoming obese. A study by Stanford shows that competitive sports do keep kids underweight. They enrolled 13 kids from the ages of 10 12 in a soccer team, for three months. After these three months, all of the kids were above the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lots of children, are mentally unstable today, which is very bad. Competitive sports although, helps fight this problem in our youth. According to the Journal of American Academy of Child Adolescent Psychiatry, female students who exercise about 6 7 days a week have a 25% chance of feeling sad, while females who exercise 0 1 days a week have a 37% chance of being sad(The Aspen Institute, 2016). This shows that kids who play sports, or are active have a less chance of being sad, or mentally unstable, than kids who don t play sports, or who aren t active. Lastly, competitive sports reduces the chance of kids getting diseases, in their youth, or later in their life. Cancer is one of the biggest causes of death in the world. Competitive sports help reduce the chance of 13 different types of cancer, and other health problems, such as heart disease, stroke, and heart attacks, which will help kids live longer, and healthier(The Aspen Institute, 2016). • 7. Clare Of Assisi Analysis Good morning Mr Campbell and students. Today I will be talking about Clare of Assisi, analysing how she was a revolutionary and radical reformer of the Church. Chiara Offreduccio, known now as Clare of Assisi , was born July 16, 1194. Raised into a wealthy family, Clare was due to marry a wealthy man when her eyes were drawn to the attention of Francis of Assisiwho was preaching the message of the one true God.Claire started a small group of nuns dedicating themselves to god by eating no meat, wearing no shoes and living in very poor conditions. This resulted in the formation of The Poor Clares (sometimes referred to as Poor Ladies). During the time of Clare of Assisi, the Church was faced with corruption and barbarian attacks. But a main point of crisis was poverty. During the 13th century there was a growing population of poor people and the church was unsure about what their responsibilities were. Agatha Clark states that, Catholic monastic factions felt that poverty was a holy way of life and that feeding the poor worked against the will of God. Canonists believed that the Church should help the poor because that is what Jesus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gathering followers was her main priority. She relied on St Francis to gather followers from a distance and she taught the women of Assisi that God is all you need to survive. Clare was living without extravagant clothes and decent meals and all the other basic essentials of normal living. Clare believed that God was all you needed to survive. Finally another challenge St Clare faced was severe illness to which she refused to succumb, finding joy in serving the Lord instead. Although he served eight years each as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, as secretary of state, and as president, Madison s principal contribution to the founding of the United States was as Father of the Constitution. Madison s place among the Founding Fathers reveals the essential qualities of his public career. Jefferson had a superior vision of the potential for life under republican government, a greater capacity for leadership, and a special gift for the memorable phrase, but Madison had a more subtle and incisive political sense. Madison and Jefferson viewed republican government as resting on the virtues of the people, sustained by the self reliance of an agricultural economy and the benefits of public education, with government itself remaining mild and responsive to grass roots impulses. This attitude became the foundation of the Democratic Republican Party, which was fundamentally at odds with Hamilton s concept of a strong central government. Madison and Jefferson then seized on widespread public sympathy for France s expansive, revolutionary exploits to promote republican sentiment in the United States. Madison bitterly opposed Jay s Treaty, feeling that it made the United States dependent on England and in fact tied America to the corrupt power politics diplomacy of the Old World. With the final ratification of Jay s Treaty, Madison felt that a commercial junta that cared very little for the republican character of the nation had gained control. The war like attitude toward France of President John Adams, administration alarmed Madison. The XYZ AFFAIR brought the United States and France close to war. In the early 60s, seventy thousand students, all across the South and Southwest took part in these revolutionary demonstrations (Gladwell). By this time Jim Crow laws were well in effect; the South and Southwest were plagued by racial discrimination and segregation. The consequences of disobeying these laws were brutally severe: unjust arrests, beatings, lynching s, and even murder were subjected upon the African American community. Oppositionists, such as the Ku Klux Klan, retaliated in the form of violence and intimidation. Despite the grave risks involved, demonstrators heeded the call to action because they were deeply and personally connected to the cause. However, this radical assemblage of protestors did not occur on a whim or by chance. Instead, it all began when four black college students decided to risk their safety and possibly their lives by defying the discriminatory beliefs and norms embedded within the fabric of American society. Joseph McNeil, Franklin McCain, David Richmond, and Ezell Blair were all close friends. They spent nights together chugging beers and woefully discussed the injustices that pervaded their lives. These interactions were personal, direct, and intimate. Their interactions were not limited by the obscurities of text messaging, emoticons, acronyms, or ominous punctuations. Likewise, their ... It is a degenerative disease, which means it gets worse over time and as of right now, there is no way to reverse its negative effects. Scientists are not entirely sure what causes Alzheimer s, but the widely accepted theory is known as the amyloid hypothesis of Alzheimer s. This hypothesis states that Alzheimer s is caused by a buildup of plaques in the brain that damage or kill neurons. These plaques form when sticky proteins called amyloid beta clump together. Amyloid beta proteins are produced when amyloid precursor protein (APP) is chopped into multiple pieces by Beta site Amyloid precursor protein Cleaving Enzyme 1 (BACE1) and an enzyme referred to as gamma secretase. The process begins with APP, which sticks out from the membranes of cells, is cut by BACE1, which makes small pieces called sAPP beta, which are unrelated to the development of Alzheimer s. The small fragment that still remains in the cell membrane is then chopped by gamma secretase, giving off amyloid beta. • 17. Adam Smith s Economic Philosophy If I was to create the perfect society today, I would use Adam Smith s economic philosophy. Adam Smith is known today as a modern philosopher. In order for a society to prosper, Smith believed that their economy would have to function as a capitalist economy. The perfect, most efficient, society would include specifically Smith s capitalist ideas of the division of labor, the sufficient pay of workers, and would not include the use of slavery. These ideas will make the perfect society prosper. The most important component of having the perfect, most efficient society, would be the division of labor. The division of labor consists of one person doing one small task, another person doing another small task, and other workers continuing the same process until the final product is complete. An example of this would be the use of an assembly line while making pins, as Smith mentions in his book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. Smith explains that the larger pin manufacture he saw with many workers, was more efficient than the small manufacture of only ten employed workers who could make upwards of forty eight thousand pins in a day (Smith, 4). Smith then goes on to explain that, But if they had all wrought separately and independently...in consequence of a proper division and combination of their different operations (Smith, 4 5). Dr. John Watson, in his advocation in favor of nurture stated essentially, as we had discussed in some of our class sessions, that his approach to child rearing would have a direct impact on outcomes. It could be argued that child rearing is the one thing that could counter cultural influences as being more impactful. We discussed closed cultures such as those from the east where members work in a collectivist way to benefit society as a whole. Then we have the individualist societies similar to the western cultures where individual achievement for self is considered to be of more value. Which I believe contributes more to selfishness and an over emphasis on the aspects of I. This also takes me back to the behavior modification class I had as an undergraduate. That there are certain ways to behave in different social settings that may be presented to us on a daily basis. Such as we all behave differently in a social settings such as, school, work, home, the mall, etc.. Behaviors in one location may be acceptable but not another location. A good example would be that you can walk around naked in the privacy of your own home but not at school. While a closed, collectivist culture may look down upon what they may perceive as negative behaviors of those in their group, other outsiders from other cultures may be given some slack because they don t know proper behavior, even if they are trying. Polar molecules interact through dipole dipole, intermolecular forces, and hydrogen bonds. In the five labs that we did, all of them were related to surface tension, in one way or another. Surface tension is the tension of a surface film of a liquid caused by the attraction of the particles in the surface layer by the bulk of the liquid. Therefore, polarity using hydrogen bonding, and a difference in electronegativity creates surface tension to hold a paperclip, cohesive and adhesive forces repelling and attracting a staple to oil and dish soap, and intermolecular forces diverting food coloring into different directions when dish soap was added to milk.... Hydrogen bonding is the electrostatic attraction between polar groups that occurs when a hydrogen atom bound to a highly electronegative atom such as nitrogen, oxygen, or fluorine experiences attraction to some other nearby highly electronegative atom. In the first lab, the paperclip floated on the surface of the water, without sinking. This was caused because of hydrogen bonding and surface tension. H2O (water) is a hydrogen bond, and it became attracted to other hydrogen bonds that were present in the beaker as well. Because the bonds became attracted to each other they created surface tension, where the water molecules, also known as polar molecules (since water is polar) are holding tight enough to support the paperclip. The term Homeokinesis is the process used to maintain and achieve homeostatsis with kinesis meaning movement would, as the internal workings of the body are on constant movement to maintain this state of equilibrium. Maintenance of homeostatic values are controlled and communicated through out the body via the endocrine and nervous systems. An understanding of both these concepts is pivotal to the understanding of the physiological needs and requirements of the mammalian body, the nervous system and endocrine systems are the body s means of communicating this balance in conjunction with external systems in turn relaying messages back to the organs systems in their own specialized ways to target organs. Any deviation from this fundamental state of internal wellbeing are relayed to the hypothalamus which coordinates the responses needed to return the body back to a state of equilibrium via feed back loops. I believe that the role of the teacher is make sure students understand the standards that are set, to help them grow and to help them get through the school year. I believe that students should keep an open mind, positive attitude towards school and help those around them. I believe that parents and community members should help students with schoolwork, supplies and be involved in their education. I believe that knowledge is power and it is what helps us to survive and thrive in any situation. My philosophy consists of student centered teaching. I will use constructivism for scaffolding and for when beginning a subject. I would use progressivism so students can get to experience real world situations and to foster their curiosity. I will use existentialism to help with their individuality and leadership skills. Social Reconstructionism will help with their confidence to face challenges and to further their social skills. Every student needs to be rewarded and disciplined to keep a calm and fair environment. I will start off with having the students explain to me signs they already know or what they have come up with themselves. It will help me to see where we are starting off at and what are our strong suits. This is how I will begin any lesson on a new set of signs where they will tell me all the animals they already know. Then I will start over with all the animals and repeat the animal signs over. I will use scaffolding, for example, by explaining that the sign for a cat looks like your petting a cat this will give them something to associate it with. The students will start to get into groups and have conversations with each other. For example, one student can spell out the animal, while the other does the sign for the word. This will help them with working and being social with others. Once they know a certain amount of signs and we have covered the basics. Disadvantages Of Travel Nursing The scope of nursing clinical practice goes beyond the treatment of a patient s illness, but is altruistic in nature; however, the dearth of nursing staff in hospitals has created a caveat in quality of care motivating the use of travel nursing agencies. To alleviate the health disparities between U.S. geographic locations, agencies contract nurses through attractive recruiting processes. The qualifications required for travel nursing and the rationale behind this subset in the nursing profession will be further corroborated, as well as the consequent quality of life for patients, traveling nurses, and permanent working staffs affected by travel nursing agencies. As has been noted, agencies recruit potential travel nurses for temporary assignments. The allure of being paid to travel to a new location every few weeks is enough for most nurses to want to sign with a traveling agency, but these agencies ensure their acquisition by incentive. In an online article, Loree (2016) describes grand prizes the aspiring traveling nurse could potentially obtain; however, the only prerequisite is having been or currently being employed with a specific health care agency (para. 4 5). The enticement of additional compensations increases the likelihood of the nurse to enter into the traveling subset and specifically with said agency. Indirect costs, as distinct from direct costs, cannot be unambiguously linked to specific products. Advantages Of Qualitative Method According to Patton, (2001) qualitative method enables the researcher to have a good knowledge of certain aspects of social life and as such try to make meaning out of it. Data from qualitative methods comes in form of words which can be recorded and later transcribed, thus making it easy for the researcher to re frame, re analyze and check the responses at a later time. Locke, et al., (2000) as cited in Steele, (2008) argued that one of the goals of qualitative method is to get the understanding about peoples idea of a particular phenomenon. One merit of the method is that it helps the researcher to fathom the true experience of many people about a concept or a happening under investigation which other methods may not decipher (Creswell, 1997).... More generally, the method can be said to provide an avenue for respondents to talk freely without necessarily been restricted to certain answers. Thus, qualitative methods allows the researcher to carefully engage with the respondent, thus creating a good interactive platform through which the researcher is able to ask questions such as what happened?, what is your experience?, how do you feel it can be improved? etc. The method especially the face to face interview technique or observation could provide information necessary for a further research where little or nothing is known about the topic in question (Patton, ...
