Americ A Great Success For The Europeans
Settling America was a great success for the Europeans, but not Native Americans. The New
World gave many a chance to move up in the social order and seek religious freedom. The poor
were given an opportunity to trade their labor for passage over as indentured servants and even
some women gained the right to conduct business and own property. Unfortunately Europe s gain
harmed the Native Americans greatly. Their population was decimated and they were pushed from
their homes to make room for new settlers. Though many benefitted, many were also harmed.
Unlike most of history, colonization helped many women gain more rights and respect. In order to
have an equal gender ratio, England sent tobacco wives (women sent to marry men in the... Show

After they had served out their contract they would be given freedom dues, land and money, for
their service. With that they were able to start their own farms and families and gain success.
The failing Economy of Europe was an important deciding factor for many colonizing the new
world. Spanish settlements were primarily for finding precious metals and other resources to
send back to Spain, using Indian labor for mining and anything else that needed to be done. Most
countries were looking for gold or resources to send back home. Colonies in the West Indies and
South Carolina grew sugar, other colonies grew tobacco. Due to that, they needed more labor for
their plantations, giving the opportunity to more people to come over. Virginia had lumber, which
was used to build ships, which were used to send other goods back to England. America became
essential to international trade, and even had trade agreements with the Indians, which was one of
the time they did benefit from colonization. More so than economic reasons, religion was the
number one push factor for many to move to America. Whether it was to spread their religion or for
religious freedom, they were given the opportunity to do both. The Puritans came to America for
both those things. They wanted to spread Protestantism among the natives, but their own reformed
version, which they were persecuted for in England. They created a society based on Puritanism,
with the Church being the center of their

Art Gallery Analysis
The art gallery I visited was the El Paso Museum of Arts on April 8, 2017. After observing a
number of paintings and sculptures, I decided to write an analysis on a rather simple and calm
painting. The composition is by American born Susan Ricker Knox and is entitled Afternoon Tea.
The artwork has no specific date but states it was painted in the 1920s. The medium used is simply
oil on canvas. The overall compositional subject matter is two women, sitting back to back,
enjoying their hour with tea. Afternoon Tea by Susan Knox represents a tranquil scene about
leisure time that corresponds with the artwork s line, color, and pose. When I first glanced at this
painting, one cannot help but notice the overall fuzziness of the composition. The... Show more

All of the hues in the piece either lack are tints or shadows, lacking in saturation. Therefore, when
one views this work instead of feeling engulfed or perhaps even overwhelm by the canvas, like
when strong chroma of colors are used, the viewer is relaxed. With the color and brushstrokes, the
composition has a soft and fluffy quality which only adds to the tranquility of the scene. In addition
to the lack of intensity of the hues used in the work, Knox s use of analogous colors supplements
the composition s peaceful nature. The umbrella in the background of the composition has a teal hue
and the plant life in the background as well is a shadowed green. The shadowed green appearing
first to the left of the umbrella, and to the right of the umbrella. The analogous pair aiding in a
relaxing the viewer but also establishing unity through the rhythm of the repeated shadowed green.
That unity, in turn, organizing a structured/composed

Essay on demand
Firstly, I will deal with the factors which can affect the demand for houses in an economy. In
many people s opinion, the single most important factor which affects demand for housing is
interest rates. This belief is held because for most people, the cost of purchasing a house is so
great that the only way they can afford to do so is to take out a mortgage from a bank or building
society. One of the main conditions that banks and building societies apply to mortgagesis that
during the course of the mortgage, interest will be paid on the loan. Although it is possible to have
a fixed rate mortgage where the rate of interest which will be paid is fixed at a constant level
throughout the mortgage most mortgages are variablerate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, a high number of repossession actions is one factor that contributes to a slump in the
property market, which may mean that sale price will not even cover the outstanding amount.
Another factor which can affect the demand for housing is unemployment. High unemployment
tends to lead to a decrease in demand for houses for several reasons. The main reason for this is
that because in a period of increasing unemployment, job security tends to be lower than at a time
of decreasing unemployment [2]. This means that if people cannot be sure that they are going to
have a regular monthly income for a long period of time, they are unlikely to take out a large
mortgage on which there is a high probability that they will be unable to make all of the
repayments. If enough people think in this way then this will lead to a noticeable slump in the
demand for housing.
Another reason why high unemployment can cause a decrease in the demand for houses is that
due to low job security workers are unlikely to ask for high wages or wage increases. This means
that in general, people are likely to be less well off. Because people are poorer, the likelihood

Zarley s Actions
Ethics is the critical and structured examination that is responsible for how individuals and
institutions should behave when their actions affect others. In order to make the right decision, it is
important to consider the four types of ethical reasoning. These include consequences, fairness
/justice, rights and duties, and character/virtue.1 Laws are responsible for enforcing rules that have
been created and accepted by society and the government. Moreover, ethical and legal reasoning
are closely related. They both involve reasoning about what it would be OK to do, or about
weather past behaviour was right or wrong (legally or ethically) .1 This essay will examine the
ethical and legal aspects of Zarley s actions. While analyzing the ethical... Show more content on

In this case, Zarley s actions directly link him to a breach of contract. This would mean that Zarley
did not act legally in the case. His employment contract states that all bank employees are required
to comply with the Code of Business Conduct (the Code ) ,1 which indicates that if we are
approached by an employee, supplier, client, government representative, or other third party with an
opportunity to engage in [bribery], we will report the incident to our manager, or through the
confidential ethics hotline .1 This part of the contract makes it very clear that if an opportunity to
engage in bribery occurs, it should be reported to a manager or through a confidential ethics
hotline. However, even though Zarley does not accept the bribe, he does not report it, which
would be considered illegal, as it is a breach of contract. This means that Zarley did not act legally
in this instance.
In this case, Zarley s actions would be considered ethically right. This is because he wants to
promote good consequences and he is trying to avoid bad consequences, for everyone involved,
in the long run. He decides not to tell his supervisor about the bribe because Brady seems like a
nice guy and he does not want Brady to get into any kind of

Biblical Figures and Ideals in Shakespeare s Richard II...
Biblical Figures and Ideals in William Shakespeare s Richard II
William Shakespeare s Richard II tells the story of one monarch s fall from the throne and the
ascension of another, Henry Bullingbrook, later to become Henry IV. There is no battle fought
between the factions, nor does the process take long. The play is not action packed, nor does it
keep readers in any form of suspense, but rather is comprised of a series of quietly dignified
ruminations on the nature of majesty. Thus, the drama lies not in the historical facts, but in the
effects of the situation on the major characters and the parallels drawn by Shakespeare to other tales.
The outrage felt by Richard and his fellow royalists is not due from a modern sense of personal ...

These characterizations fit perfectly into both the story and the underlying metaphor Shakespeare
creates.
Shakespeare utilizes both the actual language in the play and the events that take place on stage to
create a vast and moving religious parallel. The poetry of Richard II and the relationships explored
within it serve to bolster this parallel to unignorable heights. The characters in the play thus are not
only their historical counterparts, but also representations of biblical figures, predominately Cain
and Christ, making Richard II not only a retelling of facts, but also a morality play.
Of the many image strains in the drama, perhaps the one that asserts itself first in the reader s
mind is that of the blood stained ground. From act one to act five, this vision of blood spilling onto
the soil of England appears again and again until it culminates in the death of Richard, the king, in
his own country.
The horror of blood on the soil is not simply a dislike of violence or mess, but rather stems back to
the biblical tale of Cain and Abel. Cain, son to Adam and Eve, was a tiller of the ground (Gen. 4:2)
who murdered his brother Abel in envy of his belovedness to God. Cain quickly buries his slain
brother and when asked by God where Abel can be found, replies, Am I my brother s keeper?
(Gen.4:9). God tells Cain that He knows

Analysis Of The Croatian Market In Croatia
In order for a U.S. Company to enter the Croatian market it is important to have a thorough and
deep understanding of the intricacies of the market. In order to acquire this knowledge extensive
research and investigation has been conducted. Below I have included a general overview
/ analysis of the Croatian Market which facilitates market entry planning and projects. Market
Overview Croatia is a developing country situated in Southeastern Europe it has a relatively small
yet complex market which plays a very vital role when it comes to political and economic stability
in the Balkan region. Croatian population consists of a small 4,170.60 million people according to

A social mindset prevails in various parts of Croatian society. It is important to keep in mind that
Croatia has recently recovered from the Homeland war just twenty two short years ago. The
country has made tremendous strides towards reconstruction and recovery within the last decade.
Some major setbacks the country deals with today are that the majority of Croatian income comes
from government funding, social insurance, or public monopolies. Not from the revenues of truly
competitive companies. Therefore, any reforms that are introduced that are in opposition to or
address corruption, public overspending, or judicial inefficacy usually faces strong opposition
from privileged majority on top. On a more optimistic note Croatia has a growing force of
entrepreneurs who have innovative and vibrant ideas which are changing the way business in
conducted in many industries in Croatia. These entrepreneurs and their businesses follow strong
EU regulations and rules which make them perfect potential partners for American companies
looking to expand in the region. Market Challenges Croatia s developing Economy is still after its
gained independence in 1991. A number of internal problems plague Croatia s development. These
include Judiciary inefficiencies infested with case back logs and a lack of expertise in commercial
affairs, and a complex non transparent bureaucracy. Corruption is also a major issue that people
battle with when conducting business

The Theme Of Insanity In Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell-Tale...
Insanity is doing something over and over again, but expecting a different result, is a famous
quote from Albert Einstein. Yes, it is hard to do something over and over again without being
bored of it, but once you are driven insane, there is no going back. Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell
Tale Heart introduced us to one such person, a madman one should assume. One dark and stormy
night, there was an old man and a young man. This young man goes completely insane due to a
vulture like eyefrom the old man. One night, the young man goes into the chamber of the old man,
and plots to kill him. The young man, clearly driven insane, takes eight nights to finish the job. On
this fateful eighth night, the young man accidentally makes a noise, awaking the old man from his
slumber. The light shown in this horrid eye, and the young man goes completely crazy. The young
man swiftly rids of the old man in one fell swoop, by suffocating him. After the young man
disposes of the body, but disassembling the body, and hiding him under the floorboards, the police
shows up. Once the cops step inside the house, the man is driven insane again. He hears the beating
of the old man s heart underneath the floorboards, and slowly, his mental state starts to degrade.
Finally, he snaps, and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

should not take after this young man, because who would want to become a crazy mental person.
The author makes the story enjoyable by putting the story in the perspective of the young man. The
young man tries to convince you that he is NOT insane, but in the end, his persuasion

The story begins with a Navajo boy, Kii Yazhi, who is told by his family that he must go to the
U.S. Government boarding school. His grandfather wants him to learn more English so that he
can be more like the white man. When he arrives at the school they shave off all of his hair, take
away his native clothing, and give him an American name, Ned Bengay. He is told that he must
never speak his Navajo language again. When he does speak Navajo he gets his mouth washed
out with soap for punishment. He likes learning and does well in the boarding school even though
he was treated badly because he was an Indian. Because he did well in the boarding school, he

He is called chief by the other men. Some of his friends say that he should be offended by that
name, but Ned knows that they aren t being mean when they use the nick name. Because of the
work done by the Code Talkers the Americans were able to win the war. After the war, the Code
Talkers were still not allowed to tell anyone what they did in the war. The world would not find
out about their important job for more than 20 years after World War Two ended. After the war,
Ned went to college and became a teacher. He enjoyed being able to teach the Navajo children that
their culture was important. After the United States Government let everyone know about the
important job the Code Talkers did during the war, Ned enjoyed telling his familyabout his job and

What caused Ranbir concern was the lack of consensus among the various stakeholder groups in the
Indian
Railways about the idea of tracking the rolling stock
(freight railcars, passenger coaches, locomotives). The need to automate such tracking especially
for freight railcars6 had been felt for almost two decades. Initially, the available technology was too
expensive, and experimental in nature; however, lately, technologies had stabilized, and costs had
come down. Various options had become available to automate the tracking, ranging from the use of
RFID tags to the use of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) based technology. Other available
alternatives were the use of optical tracking systems using OCR, or the use of hand held devices to
manually record wagon identification data.
Ranbir scrutinized the thick file of papers in front of him.
It described the pilot project for automatic wagon tracking, which had recently commenced. The
pilot project envisaged the use of RFID technology, already proven in North
American railroads and other Railways, to tag 500 coal hopper wagons (Figure 1). Three trackside
tag readers would be placed along one of the routes used for

The Glass Ceiling, By Charlotte Perkins Stetson
Faces of Women The glass ceiling is something still very present in today s society. Women in
the workforce are constantly trying to break through barriers set by society to break away from
stereotypes. Many women work twice as hard and still get paid significantly less than their male
co workers. They experience sex typing from a young age being pushed to study more feminine
occupations, such as nursing. While on the other hand men are encouraged to seek positions of
power and leadership. If a womandecides to choose an occupation that demands the use of
intellectual thinking, they are given boundaries to which they are limited. Women are seen as
the weaker sex and have been severely over diagnosed with depression, anxiety, or any other type
of mental illness. We see this issue addressed in Virginia Woolf s Professions for Women and
Susanna Kaysen s memoir Girl, Interrupted . Women are taught to that they need to display
certain behavior and uphold a perfect appearance in order to be taken seriously in society.
Charlotte Perkins Stetson uses the art of writing to bring us along the emotional ride of a woman
who s true feelings were labeled unreliable in her story The Yellow Wall Paper . For decades
women have struggled with being treated as subordinates and this continues today. We are able to
see the unjust treatment of women reflected in their salaries, promotions, and general treatment in
the workforce, specifically the medical field. There has been much

Equality Between African Americans And Women Essay
Equality as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, is the quality or state of being equal : the
quality or state of having the same rights, social status, etc. This nation was founded on three
main principles, which were liberty, freedom, and equality. Though our country has struggled on
many occasions to maintain each of these principles, the hardest one to maintain seems to be that
of equality. Every human being has a desire to be seen as equal, its basic human nature. We seek
equality in every aspect of our lives, whether it is the equality of religion, race, social class, or
even gender. The inhabitants of this nation have fought for and over equality since its foundation.
Throughout this paper I would like to delve into the written works of two great minds that strove to
gain equal rights for both African Americans and women. These two individuals took it upon
themselves to achieve the seemingly impossible, and our nation is a better place due to their desire
to seek change where change was needed. Abraham Lincolnand Elizabeth Stanton used their
speeches and written works to fuel changes in this nation that are still seen today, and I can
wholeheartedly say that this nation is a better place due to their desires to seek justice for those
who were not given a voice to help themselves. This paper will show how Lincoln and Stanton used
their writings to open the eyes of this nation to the injustices that were being shown to not only
women and African Americans, but

The Ignorance Of Truth In The Matrix
The Matrix is a film about a simulated reality in which humans are programmed to a neural
interactive simulation. The film is very similar to the bible due to the way that it has used
symbolism to present situations and scenes. The Gospel of John and some scriptures from the bible
were taken to compare to the film to show similarity and relevance. There are themes in which the
Bibleand the Matrixhave in common and these are ; evil is living in the ignorance of truth,
resurrection and the truth. The first theme that will be discussed in evil is living in the ignorance of
truth and this shows similarity to the Genesis 3 story when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit.

The effectiveness of how The Matrix portrayed the gospel will also be discussed in this

release the human race from the simulated reality. Neo was shot not only once, but multiple
times and repeatedly. He fell and was shot even more. Neo was dead for 72 seconds which can be
interpreted as 72 hours which is equivalent to 3 days. He was brought back by love, which was
Trinity and her kiss. As Trinity leaned forward, This is the kiss of life she whispered. The kiss
of life can be interpreted as the breath of life . When Neo returned, he was more powerful than
ever. Managing to defeat Agent Smith and his posse, by dodging their bullets and powerful
blows. Jesus however did not die to to come back even more powerful, he died for people s sins,
and was resurrected because of the power of God s love. Neo proved that death can be overcome
and by achieving this, he has managed to open up a possibility in which everybody is able to

his hippocampus has shrunk. It has been researched, that people that have major depression, have
a shrunken hippocampus. The longer Steven has been depressed, results in his hippocampus
getting smaller and loses the ability to work correctly. In addition to the hippocampus, the
amygdala has a role in depressive behavior as well. The amygdala forms part of the limbic system
and is a set of neurons that are shown to play a major role in the processing of emotions. The
amygdala is a part of the brain that has a direct correlation to depression and oversees evaluating
the emotional significance of different kinds of stimuli. For example, the amygdala is overly
active in people with depression when you show them sad stimuli, and is under active when
shown positive things like rewards. This part of the brain also organizes the emotional experience
in expression. What this means is that it organizes endocrine response to stress and threats. The
more depressed a person is, the more their amygdala must act. The DLPFC, stands for dorsolateral
prefrontal cortex, and is the latest part of the brain to form in humans and other mammals. This
part of the brain also has a lot to do with major depressive disorder because

Analysis Of The Poem Khan s Kubla Khan
Kublai Khan ruled the Mongol Empire for 34 years and founded the Yuan dynasty. He started a
civil war with his own brother for the throne and went on to rule as the first Yuan emperor.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge describes Kubla Khan as a powerful being who has thought about war.
Given the similarities between the two, you may think they are based on each other. If this was the
case why is no date given to make a connection, perhaps to deepen the mystery. The impact of time
in Kubla Khanis confusing; because we do not know which time period we are in. We could be in
the past with Kublai Khan, present with Coleridge, or is it a vision of the future. Coleridge wrote
the poem after consuming a large amount of opium and reading of Xanadu, the palace of Kublai
Khan. His romantic view of life and nature are show cased in his use and choice of words, and in
the depth of his descriptive vocabulary. Examples of this are the domed structure, with places of
both light and darkness, both holy and savage, symbolically describing a decadent royal court with
a dual nature. He describes a maid of Abyssinia playing a dulcimer, which I have only seen at the
renaissance festival, a haunting and strange musical instrument, singing of mount Abora. Mount
Abora hints at a mystical connection between this poem and the ancient Garden of Eden, which
suggest this is a kind of paradise. Ancient Abyssinia (Ethiopia) is suspected of being the resting

Horatio s Honesty In Hamlet
In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, the lack of honesty was utilized frequently through the
character s actions by undermining and lying to each other, demonstrating that honesty is the best
route. Throughout the play Horatio is the only one who was honest and kept by Hamlet s side,
while everyone else lied and spied.
Claudius is responsible for a lot of the deception and lying throughout the play. From the
beginning Claudius is not honest with anyone. Without the which we are pictures, or mere beasts.
Divided from herself and for her judgement (4.5.11). What Claudius is really saying is he feels

Al Qaeda
June 21, 2016 Al Qaeda grew from the Service Office founded in 1980 lead by the infamous
Osama bin Laden. This was an office that was tasked with destroying Muslim brigade that stood in
the way of the Soviets invasion of Afghanistan. However, Laden did not want to stop after this
task. He began to train and recruit warriors from over 20 countries. With these fighters, Bin Laden
planned to carry the holy war past Afghanistan. This lead to the creation on Al Qaedain 1988. The
group was focused on removing western influence from Muslim theocracy and create strict Islamic
governments.
The group operates with no central headquarters. In the year 1991 to 1996, Al Qaeda had points of
operation around the Pakistan Afghan border and in Pakistani cities. However, during the Era of
the Taliban, they shifted from Pakistan to Afghanistan.
Since its creation the group has been responsible for a total of 13 major attacks. These attacks
included the bombings of the U.S embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dares Salaam, Tanzania, the

What Was The Role Of Counterculture In The 1950 s
Around the time of the 1950 s, a new generation of writers began to emerge. Referred to as the
Beat Generation, these writers were a part of a cultural and literally movement that changed the
way people thought across the nation. They were known for their non traditional forms of writing
and for their rejection of conformity in society. This rejection or reaction to the social norm, is
known as counterculture. Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs, and Gregory Corso
are just a few authors associated with this generation. The time period in which this counterculture
movement occurred is very important. In the 1950 s, middle class American life was focused on
consumerism. After World War II, the nation was experiencing economic prosperity. Most families
were moving into homes in the suburbs. Men would go to work... Show more content on

The possession of material objects and wealth were things that they were just not interested in. In
fact, they believed that capitalism was destructive to the human spirit and that it instilled social
inequality. They also disapproved of the prudery of their parent s generation. According to these
writers, sexual freedom was natural and lead to a path of enlightenment. Another aspect of the Beat
Generation was the exploration of Eastern religions. Many of their writings captured the ideas of
Buddhism, reincarnation and a search for the meaning of life. The pioneers of the Beat Generation
looked elsewhere for personal satisfaction in forms of adventure, spontaneity, creativity as opposed
to the dominant, socially conformed life. The title Beat meant that they were worn down,
exhausted and criticized. Even though many disagreed with their thinking and way of life, it had
no effect on these writers. The term Beat is also attributed to their enthusiasm for jazz music. Small
in numbers, the Beat Generation made a widespread impact on society regardless of size and

Martin Luther, And His Concept Of Christianity
This is an essay about Martin Luther, and his concept of Christianity. As a student and a unbiased
Christian, I enjoy studying all types of religions, and elements that encompass them. Luther began
his religious career as an Augustinian Monk in the Roman Catholic Church. So, Luther was
initially loyal to the papacy, and even after many theological conflicts, he attempted to bring about
his understanding with the Church. But this was a contradiction not to suffer because in his later
years, Luther waged a continual battle with the papacy. Luther was to become a professor of
biblical exegesis at Wittenberg where, in 1957, he posted his critique of the Roman Catholic
Church s teachings and practices. This is otherwise known as The Ninety Five Theses, which is
usually considered to be the original document of the Reformation. The Reformation was very
controversial then, and, from a historical viewpoint, it still is today. Luther played a large part in
the movement, and I was interested I doing a research to uncover what was the issue with religion.
Basically, this document was an indictment of the venality of the Roman Catholic Church,
particularly the widespread practice of selling indulgences in association with the sacrament of
penance. Luther s beliefs on the matter were that after confession, absolution relied upon the sinner
s faith and God s Divine Grace rather than the intervention of a priest. Martin Luther was a man that

In contrast, some believe that renewable energy is a key factor involved in helping the
economy to grow. Many jobs are created in the manufacturing and running of renewable energy

and $970 billion in revenue in the year 2006 (Langwith, Renewable Energy is Economically ).
The American Solar Energy Society says by 2030 it could generate up to $4.5 trillion in revenue

The Futility Of Chasing The American Dream By F. Scott...
To pursue a goal which is by definition unattainable is to condemn oneself to a state of perpetual
unhappiness (Emile). Such as in this case, a person should not set a goal that is out of their reach.
They will only cause everlasting misery to themselves. Perhaps nowhere else is this theme more
valuable than in the text, The Great Gatsby. In the text, F. Scott Fitzgeralddisplays the futility of
chasing the American dream through symbolism and characterization. In the novel, one of the main
characters, Jay Gatsbysets his sights on a ceaseless journey to find his lost love, Daisy Buchanan.
On his journey he partakes in embodying the American dream. Gatsby begins to work hard to
improve his life; compared to East Egg, the more privileged citizens who always have been
wealthy for generations. Gatsby lives on West Egg, which is considered for the more
adventitious citizens. He has worked hard for his money trying to prevail in life. Although the
way that he obtained his wealth can be questionable for their virtuous conduct; the reason why
he has done this can be appeared as romantic. He devotes his life to ensuing Daisy his heart.
When Gatsby embodies the American dream, he transforms himself into the man he hopes Daisy
would want. For Gatsby to obtain this dream he had to change his name; James Gatz to Jay
Gatsby. Jay Gatz that was really, or least legally, his name (Fitzgerald, 2004, pg. 98). Jay Gatz was
a poor man; he lives in poverty. When he first met Dan Cody,

The Plan For Eden Bay
When I was first approached to research possible systems for the fleet, I knew it was going to be
a massive under taking. I had no guide, just a few questions from Dawn about how the
recommended system would address certain issues. There were countless hours of research
looking at each possible program, weighting the pros and cons of each, and then final reaching a
conclusion to which system to recommend for Eden Bay. Each of the fleet repair systems are
good, solid programs, however there is only one which I believe would suit the needs of Eden
Bay. I found a few different options at beginning of my research and I slowly began to review
each product. Several of the systems were thrown out early on, some because the cost was of the
program was running too high, or I thought the system was not user friendly, or even because I
thought product just would not benefit Eden Bay in the long term. While I liked many of the
systems, it ultimately came down to three programs: The Fleet MaintenancePro by Innovative
Maintenance Systems, the Desktop Enterprise Edition by Manager Plus or Merchants Fleet
Program. When it came time to make my decision, the Fleet Maintience Pro stood out above the
rest.
My first step was to do a general search online of fleet software to see what I could discover. After
the search, I narrowed it down to six systems to investigate. Using the main search results, I then
did a cusitorty look around the websites for each of the six main software programs.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Affirmative Action
Shelby Steele s Affirmative Action Rhetorical Analysis
On May 13, 1990, an eager yet serious Shelby Steele claims that affirmative action is reformist and
corrective, even repentant and redemptive , in the New York Times. Despite the different political
views, Steele does not want to insult these sincere intentions despite the conflicts that will arise
once these policies take effect. Steele believes that affirmative action is similar to a ...Faustian
bargain as it creates more moral problems rather than fixing them. Shelby Steele points out the
flaws of affirmative action and hopes to bring awareness to affirmative action by using appeals to
logic, credibility, emotion, and other canons of rhetoric. Steele s plan is to persuade the readers into
believing the harmful effects of the policy.
First and foremost, Shelby Steele starts off with an appeal to logic. Steele offers specific
evidence of the harmful effects regarding affirmative action for example But it is the music of
innocence and power that we hear in affirmative action that causes us to cling to it and to its
distracting emphasis on representation. This quote uses an appeal to logic to express why people
are still persisting on using it. When people think of affirmative action they tend to believe that
colleges need more representation, but really when Colleges are asking to recruit people of color
and insert diversity into their college, they only want the cosmetic diversity that covers the blemish
of disparity. These quotas are not actually effective in helping blacks be progressive for their future
and education Only 26 to 28 percent of blacks graduate from college. Shelby Steele wants young
blacks to take action for their education, rather than being a diversity trophy at college. Steele is
motivated to help start a change in how blacks are educated, because the amount of black students
that are graduating in a six year term is too low. Shelby then connects this to race because this
results in an artificial diversity that gives the appearance of an educational parity between black
and white students that has not been achieved in reality. An artificial diversity is what is making
this situation a crisis. When a school ask for

The Rites of Passage and Liminality Essay
The Rites of Passage and Liminality
Originally developed by anthropologist Arnold van Gennep in the early 20th century in his book
Rites de Passage, the term liminality refers to the concept in which participants are in the threshold
stage of disorientation and suspension from the previous social norm that they were used to. When
an individual goes through a rite of passage also coined by van Gennep he is cut off from his old
life and is born again into a new person. However, before he can fully become a new person and
finish his rite of passage, he is suspended in a liminal stage that bridges the old self with the newly
acknowledged self. In other words, he is in a stage of disorientation and amorphous identity. Found

The night before the rite of passage was to be performed, the male relatives and community would
dance and sing all night in costumes and masks, awakening the boys consecutively to parade them

sons a Last Supper as if they were still infants. Shortly thereafter, the boys were marched down to
a clearing known as the place of dying , and suddenly attacked by the guardian males, who held
each boy down and circumcised him. Upon having their wounds fully healed, they were then
allowed to return unto their village as men.

Shades of a White Man
What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculties, in form and moving
how express and admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like a god.
(Shakespeare) Humans were born pure, humble and humane. Politics, science, conflicts and the
innate desire for dominance change who we are, and who we ultimately aspire to be. The
culture we are born into, too, affects who we are in a rather dramatic way; it contributes
significantly in writing the script of a person s life. George Orwell was born into a culture of
white men, a culture that believes in dominance and superiority, a culture that steps on whoever
stands in its way. Imperialism was that culture; the culture that Orwell was influenced by, and
suffered from. From my perspective, I believe that even though George Orwell claimed that he
was against the imperialist, British culture; I was all for the Burmese and against their
oppressors, the British (Orwell, Shooting an Elephant, par. 2), he was an imperialist in disguise,
and had always been one. He was a unique imperialist, one who had morals and ethical
obligations, which seemingly resulted in his lifelong misery, since it would not naturally align
with the culture he belongs to. Orwell was not a perfect white man, yet he was one. Imperialism
is a state of mind, a certain way of looking at people and life. The imperialist culture is a selfish
one; it imprints a seal on all of its descendants, thus creating masters out of

Conformity In The Film Without My Daughter
Refusing forced conformity can lead to consequences, and an individual can never conform to
anything, without defecting another.
The well known director Brian Gilbert conveyed and explored the theme of conformity in one of
his memorable movies Without my daughter . The movie is extracted from a real life story of
Betty Mahmoody and her daughter Mahtob Mahmoody. The storyline of the movie revolves
around an American couple, the husband is from an Iranian background and he hasn t visited his
home country for more than 10 years. The story progresses as they visit Iran and her husband;
Moody steals her freedom and forces her to live with him and with his family in Iran. Thus, Betty

His idea was conveyed and explored in many scenes of the movie. One of the scenes is when
Moody s father wakes him up early every morning to perform the morning prayer that is
unbreakable part of the muslim tradition. Techniques such as facial expressions, dialogue and the
tone of voice are used to express this idea. When Betty in a sleepy tone asks her husband to stay
in bed, You ve been getting up early every morning. Don t go. He replied to her angrily by saying;
What s the matter with you? We re with my family. They re Sayyeds direct descendants of
Mohammed. Of course, to a sophisticated American that must seem primitive. Betty s facial
expression were filled with sadness and pure confusion as she couldn t identify the reason behind
her husband s reaction and words. This shows that Moody was conforming to his family and
religion, however he wasn t conforming to his old lifestyle in America. Also when Betty asked him
to stay, she wasn t conforming to the Islamic religion and tradition. Again Gilbert achieved his goal
clearly when he showed live evident of conformity in the movie, and this further extents the

Red Blood Cells Lab Report
The experiment confirms the hypothesis as, when compared to the isotonic environment, the sheep
red blood cells that were exposed to a hypotonic environment either expanded or lysed. The
increased ECF s absorbance in the three hypotonic solutions show that more light was absorbed an
indicator of a ruptured red blood cell. Although the 50mM solutionproduced a lower absorbance
than the 100mM solution when the expected amount of the former should have been higher than
the latter, the hypotonic solution still has a larger absorbance than the isotonic solution.
It is worth noting that the hypotonic environments produced the clearest red solutions. In all three
hypotonic environments, high absorbance values in comparison to the isotonic controlled
environment were collated (Table 3). When taking into account osmosis, this could be a result
from the sheep red blood cells rupturing and releasing haemoglobin as too much water was
absorbed (Lluka 2016). The positive control 0mM produced the largest absorbance value most

Thus, the concentration of solutes in his red blood cells (ICF) is lower than the concentration of
his ECF. As a result, the water in the ICF moves into the ECF; causing the cells to shrink (Reece
et al. 2014). In order to treat Baxter, his blood cells must expand to regain their ideal shape. By
increasing the amount of water in the ECF, this will dilute the solute concentration; bringing the
environment back to an isotonic system. However, as seen in Table 3, if pure water (0mM) is
used, the red blood cells could lyse as, to reach equilibrium, the cell will absorb more water than is
required. Since this is a result of the extreme concentration gradient, isotonic saline, where the
solute present is lower than the ICF, should be administered intravenously. This would be a smaller
concentration gradient; an ideal that will allow the cells to expand but not

Ancient Societies Collapse Research Paper
Throughout history there have been an untold number of societal collapses; some have been
studied completely and others forgotten in history. As time passes and new innovations are
created, so are new paths for collapse. However, the downfalls of the ancient civilizations are
also applicable in today s society. With decades of archaeological and historical research, theories
have arisen as to why these societies collapsed and what humans of today can do to avoid a similar
fate.
While many collapses are thought to have occurred from several factors compounding over many
years, most can be attributed to three main issues: the environment, war, and trade. Environmental
changes seem to have the quickest and most drastic affect on civilizations, ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
The most likely way that current society will collapse would be a large scale environmental change
that affects a majority of the Earth. In the most dramatic case, if a climate changing event such as a
volcanic eruption or a heat wave occurred, the effects would be catastrophic. If the event affected
enough of the planet, there would be mass starvation that would eventually lead to the downfall of
human civilization. Also, humans affecting the environment with global warming and using up
natural resources such as oil and trees will create an uninhabitable planet. If the environmental
change only affected a small region, other countries would provide aid and attempt to rebuild
that society. If trade were to disintegrate globally, many societies would collapse due to their
dependence on imported goods and the profit from exported items, similar to Pitcairn and
Henderson. If trade from one country stopped, it would not have as much of an effect seeing as
all of the countries connected and another trade system could be created. For example, if trade
from a country that produces oil stops, many countries would suffer without fuel for a short while
until another trade route from a different country began. Due to the economically interconnected
nature of the world today, it is unlikely that a collapse would happen due to shifting trade.
Another main factor of collapse is war and societies ending due to invasions. A modern day war
could be taken far enough where entire cities are wiped out and civilizations destroyed. For
example, if the War on Terror is continued for long enough, countless societies in West Asia could
be demolished. Ultimately, any of the aforementioned changes could cause a collapse, it merely

Women Of The Civil Rights Act Of 1964
During the 1960s, living off one income had become increasingly more difficult to continue
living a comfortable lifestyle with the rise in economic demands. Therefore, forcing many
American women to begin seeking jobs in the workforce. However, many qualified women were
quickly looked over by men, some with fewer years of experience and education. Potential
employers felt that women would not be able to face the stress that went along with work. So
1964, the United States enacted Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. §§ 2000e
et seq. (Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964) This act is very well known, prohibiting
harassment in the workplace and discrimination. A few years later, on October 31, 1978, President

The school board also ruled that the expectant mothers could not return to their duties until the
next semester started, the teacher acquired a certificate proving a clean bill of health, and that the
baby is three or more months old. Unfortunately, even with the guidelines, the teachers were not
promised their teaching positions back after the child s birth. Instead, they were guaranteed a
teaching position, but quite possibly not the one they had before. (Legal Information Institute) In
1971, Jo Carol LaFleur, a teacher at Patrick Henry Junior High school, as well as Ann Elizabeth
Nelson of Central Junior High school, both fell pregnant a few months apart. Both teachers were
forced by the Cleveland board of Education to take their maternity leave early, in March 1971. Just
two months away from the end of the school year, despite their wishes to finish out the school year.
Each teacher filed a separate suit in the district court, but their cases were tried together under The
Cleveland Board of Education vs. LaFleur. (Pregnancy Discrimination and the American Worker.)
On January 21, 1974, a divided panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit
reversed, decided that the Cleveland maternity leave rule was in violation of the Equal Protection

CASE STUDY ANALYSIS
Introduction:
It is amazing to note that humans are a type of species that can smartly organize and form a
community. Several of these communities create their cultural norms and beliefs that make their
society a place to live. Willis, K. and Elmer, S. (2007, p3), defines society as the identifying
pattern of behaviour, meanings and beliefs in order to uncover the links between individual lives
and social forces.
Accepting this definition as a fact, the analysis of this case study will take into consideration culture
clash, the history of indigenous dispossession, and contemporary health issues faced by indigenous
people. Subtopics on the models of health and the transcultural theories protruded by the study are

Walter Roth, an eminent anthropologist who became one of the protectors of Aborigines in
Queensland. Manne s publication clearly enumerated the key players to the act of removing
Aboriginal children from their parents to be given to white people. Aboriginal people suffered the
most sinister racial prejudices with convictions under the Industrial Schools act of 1865, and
charges laid against them, with being a child born of an Aboriginal or half caste mother . and that
one in ten Aboriginal Children born before 1970, were removed from their parents. (Manne, R.
2001, p16 17).
Eckermann, A K. et al (2006) defines culture clash as the disagreement of two cultures and believes
that cultures in conflict find it difficult to understand each other and consequently difficult to adapt
to one another and if they do not share language, similar lifestyles and expectations, are not
committed to similar goals and motivated by mutually understandable ambitions, conflict and clash
will occur. When culture clash and conflict, involve two groups with unequal powers, the less
powerful, as individuals and as groups will always suffer.
Aboriginal people were forced to adapt to the most powerful of the people sharing their
environments. According to Eckermann, A K. et al (2006, p. 5) it was believed that the arrival of
the colonists saw Aboriginal societies accommodating a group of people with a

KYCOM Personal Statement
Ever since I was little, I was raised to overcome simple cold without taking any medicine. The
only medicine that was provided to me was orange juice. It seemed very peculiar then. My
parents would tell me, Let your body do its own job. After many years of studying biology,
anatomy, and toxicology, I am continually fascinated by what our bodies are capable of. I realized
our bodies are stronger and smarter than we know; this has led me to apply for osteopathic medical
education.
The University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM) has maintained
very strong, specific aims throughout many years. KYCOM emphasizes producing physicians who

Effects Of The Printing Press
European Renaissance The printing press drastically improved the advancement of the sciences,
spreading the information far and wide. It was indeed a product of the Renaissance, and being
such, the press served the interests of humanists by making available many ancient Greco Roman
classics, such as the works of Homer, Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, and Virgil, previously rare or
unavailable in western Christendom. The humanistic ideals of the Renaissancewere printed and
spread across Europe, fostering a new spirit of artistic independence. This resurgence of the
classics in print form led to new classics to be written and printed, for example, in England, the
Renaissance plays of William Shakespeare were published at the time of their... Show more content

The printing press not only influenced the Renaissance, but it also influenced the Age of
Enlightenment, which is a direct transition of the ideas of the Renaissance, but were used to
challenge the Church.
Age of Enlightenment The impact of the printing press on science and technology was tremendous.
Before the press, scientists had worked in relative isolation. With the printing press came the
publishing of their results, which accelerated the rate of scientific discovery.
Many of these advances directly impacted the quality of life for large groups of people through
improved medicine, domestic and agricultural technology, and transportation. The birth of the
modern scientific revolution can be directly linked to early printed works by Nicolaus Copernicus,
Johannes Kepler, Galileo Galilei, and Isaac Newton, with his Principia (1687) as the crowning
achievement of this early phase.
Printing books provided a means that scientists could use to record, arrange, and preserve the
knowledge they d been studying. Now, scientists could join their research and ideas with their
predecessors, which would further advance their own.
In many ways, the social impact of Gutenberg s printing press culminated with the Enlightenment it
changed the way Europeans communicated. The printing press made it possible to bypass the
confusion engendered by linguistic

Newspapers, government and congressional documents, books, articles, and manuscripts are
some of the primary sources listed in his bibliography. He also incorporates historical secondary
works. It is this variety of sources used by Anderson that gives the reader an understanding that
goes above and beyond just the life of Little Crow. According to Paul Stuart in American History
Review, Using an array of manuscript anti published primary sources, Anderson has produced a
sensitive portrayal of Little Crow s life and of Dakota society during the mid nineteenth century.
William K. Powers also agrees that Anderson paints Little Crow in a way that has never been done
before, in South Dakota History, This book takes a refreshing position in that it attempts to
humanize Indian leaders, whereas, in the past, only the most war like have been designated as
heroes It is a general consensus among the reviews that Anderson has a sophisticated, well written
historical narrative, that depicts Indian and white relationships at this time. Anderson uses Little
Crow: Spokesman for the Sioux to tell the story of the Mdewakanton Sioux during the Sioux
Uprising of 1862. He especially focuses on Little Crow s role as a spokesperson for his tribe. Little
Crow builds relationships with his tribe, other Sioux tribes, and the United States government and

Pamela Stone s Opting Out. Both articles discuss the issues women face in the workplace and

For example, the behavior of men and women in the workplace was surprisingly found to be
similar. While differences may have existed in the past, those differences are disappearing.
According to Walston, this is due to more fearless women in the workplace insisting on credit for
their accomplishments. Women are actively working to shatter the glass ceiling . Once can
assume with the continuation of dual earner households and shared roles, there will be no place
for gender stereotyping in the future workplace. Therefore, if employers are recognizing the
shared work and family roles of both genders, while aware of the fact that businesses with family
friendly policies have more reliable employees, then they should be putting effort into more gender
research and implementing effective family friendly policies. After all, a work environment with
gender equality benefits the entire workforce and increases productivity. While some of these
policies have major kinks to work out, recent research shows these problems will be resolved in

Secularization: Historically, Iranian society had strong religious sentiments. So, in Iranian
society, any attempt to change the traditional life style or removal of religious aspects
from public life was opposed by religious establishments. Similar to the nationalization
attempt, Reza Shah tried to incorporate new ideologies and notions over old customs and
traditions. While doing so he also introduced his personality cult.
Another measure to promote secularization, and also depower the clergy was the abolishment of
veiling. By this attempt shah was aiming to enlist woman into the education and labor market.
Westernization: The westernization of the education system was targeted for the higher levels of
education. It had two interrelated aspects. First expanding the modern education system
nationwide and the opening of modern schools. Second was the veneration of west in those new
schools. The westernization of the education system included exporting scientific and technologic
developments of west which consequently brought western cultural values and social structures.
An example of this was the emancipation of women in academia and economic life. They had
been subjected to westernization similar to secularization. Shah managed to incorporate them
into the educational environment.

The Massacre At Chios, And Percy Bysshe Shelley s Alastor...
Although various thinkers and artists from the Romantic era utilized unique approaches within the
spectrum of their work, historians have grouped many viewpoints as being part of a category called
the Romantics. The artistic, literary, musical and intellectual movement known as the Romantic era
began in 18th century Europe and ended in the mid 19th century (Day, 1996). Romantic art
uniquely places a large emphasis on emotional content, the individual, and in celebrating the past
and the ways in which one interacts with the nature that surrounds them (Day, 1996). The emotions
which were most widely used included terror, horror, and awe; as it was believed that these
processes contributed to the overall aesthetic appeal (Day, 1996). This... Show more content on

The French were also more aligned to the Greeks in terms of religion, since both held Christian
values, while the Turks were largely Muslim, and at the time seen as the outsiders within the
conflict (Fraser, 2004). The painting depicts some of the Greek survivors on the island of Chios,
as they are in anguish since they re surrounded by the Ottomans whom are holding weapons, and
whom are presumably capturing these individuals for slavery. Some of the figures are wounded,
some appear to be dying, but the survivors will presumably be taken away. There are various
individual moments of suffering being illustrated, each of which holds a unique conception of the
current state, all of whom are emotionally dealing with the circumstances as best as they can. This
piece has no hero, and it does not display any relative form of optimism. Instead it illustrates the
fact that suffering is prevalent, and each individual copes with such suffering in a unique manner.
The point of unification lies in the mere fact that the Greeks are overpowered by the Turks. This is
a painting about human suffering, and individualism, and it emphasizes the importance of color,
nature in the background, and classical figures being painted in an effort to create an

  • 2. Americ A Great Success For The Europeans Settling America was a great success for the Europeans, but not Native Americans. The New World gave many a chance to move up in the social order and seek religious freedom. The poor were given an opportunity to trade their labor for passage over as indentured servants and even some women gained the right to conduct business and own property. Unfortunately Europe s gain harmed the Native Americans greatly. Their population was decimated and they were pushed from their homes to make room for new settlers. Though many benefitted, many were also harmed. Unlike most of history, colonization helped many women gain more rights and respect. In order to have an equal gender ratio, England sent tobacco wives (women sent to marry men in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After they had served out their contract they would be given freedom dues, land and money, for their service. With that they were able to start their own farms and families and gain success. The failing Economy of Europe was an important deciding factor for many colonizing the new world. Spanish settlements were primarily for finding precious metals and other resources to send back to Spain, using Indian labor for mining and anything else that needed to be done. Most countries were looking for gold or resources to send back home. Colonies in the West Indies and South Carolina grew sugar, other colonies grew tobacco. Due to that, they needed more labor for their plantations, giving the opportunity to more people to come over. Virginia had lumber, which was used to build ships, which were used to send other goods back to England. America became essential to international trade, and even had trade agreements with the Indians, which was one of the time they did benefit from colonization. More so than economic reasons, religion was the number one push factor for many to move to America. Whether it was to spread their religion or for religious freedom, they were given the opportunity to do both. The Puritans came to America for both those things. They wanted to spread Protestantism among the natives, but their own reformed version, which they were persecuted for in England. They created a society based on Puritanism, with the Church being the center of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Art Gallery Analysis The art gallery I visited was the El Paso Museum of Arts on April 8, 2017. After observing a number of paintings and sculptures, I decided to write an analysis on a rather simple and calm painting. The composition is by American born Susan Ricker Knox and is entitled Afternoon Tea. The artwork has no specific date but states it was painted in the 1920s. The medium used is simply oil on canvas. The overall compositional subject matter is two women, sitting back to back, enjoying their hour with tea. Afternoon Tea by Susan Knox represents a tranquil scene about leisure time that corresponds with the artwork s line, color, and pose. When I first glanced at this painting, one cannot help but notice the overall fuzziness of the composition. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, when one views this work instead of feeling engulfed or perhaps even overwhelm by the canvas, like when strong chroma of colors are used, the viewer is relaxed. With the color and brushstrokes, the composition has a soft and fluffy quality which only adds to the tranquility of the scene. In addition to the lack of intensity of the hues used in the work, Knox s use of analogous colors supplements the composition s peaceful nature. The umbrella in the background of the composition has a teal hue and the plant life in the background as well is a shadowed green. • 4. Essay on demand Firstly, I will deal with the factors which can affect the demand for houses in an economy. In many people s opinion, the single most important factor which affects demand for housing is interest rates. This belief is held because for most people, the cost of purchasing a house is so great that the only way they can afford to do so is to take out a mortgage from a bank or building society. One of the main conditions that banks and building societies apply to mortgagesis that during the course of the mortgage, interest will be paid on the loan. Although it is possible to have a fixed rate mortgage where the rate of interest which will be paid is fixed at a constant level throughout the mortgage most mortgages are variablerate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, a high number of repossession actions is one factor that contributes to a slump in the property market, which may mean that sale price will not even cover the outstanding amount. Another factor which can affect the demand for housing is unemployment. High unemployment tends to lead to a decrease in demand for houses for several reasons. The main reason for this is that because in a period of increasing unemployment, job security tends to be lower than at a time of decreasing unemployment [2]. This means that if people cannot be sure that they are going to have a regular monthly income for a long period of time, they are unlikely to take out a large mortgage on which there is a high probability that they will be unable to make all of the repayments. If enough people think in this way then this will lead to a noticeable slump in the demand for housing. Another reason why high unemployment can cause a decrease in the demand for houses is that due to low job security workers are unlikely to ask for high wages or wage increases. This means that in general, people are likely to be less well off. Because people are poorer, the likelihood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Zarley s Actions Ethics is the critical and structured examination that is responsible for how individuals and institutions should behave when their actions affect others. In order to make the right decision, it is important to consider the four types of ethical reasoning. These include consequences, fairness /justice, rights and duties, and character/virtue.1 Laws are responsible for enforcing rules that have been created and accepted by society and the government. Moreover, ethical and legal reasoning are closely related. They both involve reasoning about what it would be OK to do, or about weather past behaviour was right or wrong (legally or ethically) .1 This essay will examine the ethical and legal aspects of Zarley s actions. While analyzing the ethical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case, Zarley s actions directly link him to a breach of contract. This would mean that Zarley did not act legally in the case. However, even though Zarley does not accept the bribe, he does not report it, which would be considered illegal, as it is a breach of contract. This means that Zarley did not act legally in this instance. In this case, Zarley s actions would be considered ethically right. This is because he wants to promote good consequences and he is trying to avoid bad consequences, for everyone involved, in the long run. He decides not to tell his supervisor about the bribe because Brady seems like a nice guy and he does not want Brady to get into any kind of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Biblical Figures and Ideals in Shakespeare s Richard II... Biblical Figures and Ideals in William Shakespeare s Richard II William Shakespeare s Richard II tells the story of one monarch s fall from the throne and the ascension of another, Henry Bullingbrook, later to become Henry IV. There is no battle fought between the factions, nor does the process take long. The play is not action packed, nor does it keep readers in any form of suspense, but rather is comprised of a series of quietly dignified ruminations on the nature of majesty. Thus, the drama lies not in the historical facts, but in the effects of the situation on the major characters and the parallels drawn by Shakespeare to other tales. The outrage felt by Richard and his fellow royalists is not due from a modern sense of personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These characterizations fit perfectly into both the story and the underlying metaphor Shakespeare creates. Shakespeare utilizes both the actual language in the play and the events that take place on stage to create a vast and moving religious parallel. The poetry of Richard II and the relationships explored within it serve to bolster this parallel to unignorable heights. The characters in the play thus are not only their historical counterparts, but also representations of biblical figures, predominately Cain and Christ, making Richard II not only a retelling of facts, but also a morality play. Of the many image strains in the drama, perhaps the one that asserts itself first in the reader s mind is that of the blood stained ground. From act one to act five, this vision of blood spilling onto the soil of England appears again and again until it culminates in the death of Richard, the king, in his own country. The horror of blood on the soil is not simply a dislike of violence or mess, but rather stems back to the biblical tale of Cain and Abel. Cain, son to Adam and Eve, was a tiller of the ground (Gen. 4:2) who murdered his brother Abel in envy of his belovedness to God. Cain quickly buries his slain brother and when asked by God where Abel can be found, replies, Am I my brother s keeper? (Gen.4:9). God tells Cain that He knows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to acquire this knowledge extensive research and investigation has been conducted. Below I have included a general overview / analysis of the Croatian Market which facilitates market entry planning and projects. Market Overview Croatia is a developing country situated in Southeastern Europe it has a relatively small yet complex market which plays a very vital role when it comes to political and economic stability in the Balkan region. Croatian population consists of a small 4,170.60 million people according to the World Bank s data. http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.POP.TOTL ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A social mindset prevails in various parts of Croatian society. It is important to keep in mind that Croatia has recently recovered from the Homeland war just twenty two short years ago. The country has made tremendous strides towards reconstruction and recovery within the last decade. Some major setbacks the country deals with today are that the majority of Croatian income comes from government funding, social insurance, or public monopolies. Not from the revenues of truly competitive companies. Therefore, any reforms that are introduced that are in opposition to or address corruption, public overspending, or judicial inefficacy usually faces strong opposition from privileged majority on top. On a more optimistic note Croatia has a growing force of entrepreneurs who have innovative and vibrant ideas which are changing the way business in conducted in many industries in Croatia. These entrepreneurs and their businesses follow strong EU regulations and rules which make them perfect potential partners for American companies looking to expand in the region. Market Challenges Croatia s developing Economy is still after its gained independence in 1991. A number of internal problems plague Croatia s development. These include Judiciary inefficiencies infested with case back logs and a lack of expertise in commercial affairs, and a complex non transparent bureaucracy. Yes, it is hard to do something over and over again without being bored of it, but once you are driven insane, there is no going back. Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart introduced us to one such person, a madman one should assume. One dark and stormy night, there was an old man and a young man. This young man goes completely insane due to a vulture like eyefrom the old man. One night, the young man goes into the chamber of the old man, and plots to kill him. The young man, clearly driven insane, takes eight nights to finish the job. On this fateful eighth night, the young man accidentally makes a noise, awaking the old man from his slumber. The light shown in this horrid eye, and the young man goes completely crazy. The young man swiftly rids of the old man in one fell swoop, by suffocating him. After the young man disposes of the body, but disassembling the body, and hiding him under the floorboards, the police shows up. Once the cops step inside the house, the man is driven insane again. What caused Ranbir concern was the lack of consensus among the various stakeholder groups in the Indian Railways about the idea of tracking the rolling stock (freight railcars, passenger coaches, locomotives). The need to automate such tracking especially for freight railcars6 had been felt for almost two decades. Initially, the available technology was too expensive, and experimental in nature; however, lately, technologies had stabilized, and costs had come down. Various options had become available to automate the tracking, ranging from the use of RFID tags to the use of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) based technology. Other available alternatives were the use of optical tracking systems using OCR, or the use of hand held devices to manually record wagon identification data. Ranbir scrutinized the thick file of papers in front of him. It described the pilot project for automatic wagon tracking, which had recently commenced. The pilot project envisaged the use of RFID technology, already proven in North American railroads and other Railways, to tag 500 coal hopper wagons (Figure 1). • 12. The Glass Ceiling, By Charlotte Perkins Stetson Faces of Women The glass ceiling is something still very present in today s society. Women in the workforce are constantly trying to break through barriers set by society to break away from stereotypes. Many women work twice as hard and still get paid significantly less than their male co workers. They experience sex typing from a young age being pushed to study more feminine occupations, such as nursing. While on the other hand men are encouraged to seek positions of power and leadership. If a womandecides to choose an occupation that demands the use of intellectual thinking, they are given boundaries to which they are limited. Women are seen as the weaker sex and have been severely over diagnosed with depression, anxiety, or any other type of mental illness. We see this issue addressed in Virginia Woolf s Professions for Women and Susanna Kaysen s memoir Girl, Interrupted . Women are taught to that they need to display certain behavior and uphold a perfect appearance in order to be taken seriously in society. Charlotte Perkins Stetson uses the art of writing to bring us along the emotional ride of a woman who s true feelings were labeled unreliable in her story The Yellow Wall Paper . For decades women have struggled with being treated as subordinates and this continues today. We are able to see the unjust treatment of women reflected in their salaries, promotions, and general treatment in the workforce, specifically the medical field. There has been much ... • 15. Equality Between African Americans And Women Essay Equality as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, is the quality or state of being equal : the quality or state of having the same rights, social status, etc. This nation was founded on three main principles, which were liberty, freedom, and equality. Though our country has struggled on many occasions to maintain each of these principles, the hardest one to maintain seems to be that of equality. Every human being has a desire to be seen as equal, its basic human nature. We seek equality in every aspect of our lives, whether it is the equality of religion, race, social class, or even gender. The inhabitants of this nation have fought for and over equality since its foundation. Throughout this paper I would like to delve into the written works of two great minds that strove to gain equal rights for both African Americans and women. These two individuals took it upon themselves to achieve the seemingly impossible, and our nation is a better place due to their desire to seek change where change was needed. Abraham Lincolnand Elizabeth Stanton used their speeches and written works to fuel changes in this nation that are still seen today, and I can wholeheartedly say that this nation is a better place due to their desires to seek justice for those who were not given a voice to help themselves. This paper will show how Lincoln and Stanton used their writings to open the eyes of this nation to the injustices that were being shown to not only women and African Americans, but ... The longer Steven has been depressed, results in his hippocampus getting smaller and loses the ability to work correctly. In addition to the hippocampus, the amygdala has a role in depressive behavior as well. The amygdala forms part of the limbic system and is a set of neurons that are shown to play a major role in the processing of emotions. The amygdala is a part of the brain that has a direct correlation to depression and oversees evaluating the emotional significance of different kinds of stimuli. For example, the amygdala is overly active in people with depression when you show them sad stimuli, and is under active when shown positive things like rewards. This part of the brain also organizes the emotional experience in expression. What this means is that it organizes endocrine response to stress and threats. The more depressed a person is, the more their amygdala must act. The DLPFC, stands for dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, and is the latest part of the brain to form in humans and other mammals. He started a civil war with his own brother for the throne and went on to rule as the first Yuan emperor. Samuel Taylor Coleridge describes Kubla Khan as a powerful being who has thought about war. Given the similarities between the two, you may think they are based on each other. If this was the case why is no date given to make a connection, perhaps to deepen the mystery. The impact of time in Kubla Khanis confusing; because we do not know which time period we are in. We could be in the past with Kublai Khan, present with Coleridge, or is it a vision of the future. Coleridge wrote the poem after consuming a large amount of opium and reading of Xanadu, the palace of Kublai Khan. His romantic view of life and nature are show cased in his use and choice of words, and in the depth of his descriptive vocabulary. Examples of this are the domed structure, with places of both light and darkness, both holy and savage, symbolically describing a decadent royal court with a dual nature. He describes a maid of Abyssinia playing a dulcimer, which I have only seen at the renaissance festival, a haunting and strange musical instrument, singing of mount Abora. As a student and a unbiased Christian, I enjoy studying all types of religions, and elements that encompass them. Luther began his religious career as an Augustinian Monk in the Roman Catholic Church. So, Luther was initially loyal to the papacy, and even after many theological conflicts, he attempted to bring about his understanding with the Church. But this was a contradiction not to suffer because in his later years, Luther waged a continual battle with the papacy. Luther was to become a professor of biblical exegesis at Wittenberg where, in 1957, he posted his critique of the Roman Catholic Church s teachings and practices. This is otherwise known as The Ninety Five Theses, which is usually considered to be the original document of the Reformation. The Reformation was very controversial then, and, from a historical viewpoint, it still is today. Luther played a large part in the movement, and I was interested I doing a research to uncover what was the issue with religion. Basically, this document was an indictment of the venality of the Roman Catholic Church, particularly the widespread practice of selling indulgences in association with the sacrament of penance. • 29. The Futility Of Chasing The American Dream By F. Scott... To pursue a goal which is by definition unattainable is to condemn oneself to a state of perpetual unhappiness (Emile). Such as in this case, a person should not set a goal that is out of their reach. They will only cause everlasting misery to themselves. Perhaps nowhere else is this theme more valuable than in the text, The Great Gatsby. In the text, F. Scott Fitzgeralddisplays the futility of chasing the American dream through symbolism and characterization. In the novel, one of the main characters, Jay Gatsbysets his sights on a ceaseless journey to find his lost love, Daisy Buchanan. On his journey he partakes in embodying the American dream. Gatsby begins to work hard to improve his life; compared to East Egg, the more privileged citizens who always have been wealthy for generations. Gatsby lives on West Egg, which is considered for the more adventitious citizens. He has worked hard for his money trying to prevail in life. Although the way that he obtained his wealth can be questionable for their virtuous conduct; the reason why he has done this can be appeared as romantic. He devotes his life to ensuing Daisy his heart. When Gatsby embodies the American dream, he transforms himself into the man he hopes Daisy would want. For Gatsby to obtain this dream he had to change his name; James Gatz to Jay Gatsby. Jay Gatz that was really, or least legally, his name (Fitzgerald, 2004, pg. 98). Steele believes that affirmative action is similar to a ...Faustian bargain as it creates more moral problems rather than fixing them. Shelby Steele points out the flaws of affirmative action and hopes to bring awareness to affirmative action by using appeals to logic, credibility, emotion, and other canons of rhetoric. Steele s plan is to persuade the readers into believing the harmful effects of the policy. First and foremost, Shelby Steele starts off with an appeal to logic. Steele offers specific evidence of the harmful effects regarding affirmative action for example But it is the music of innocence and power that we hear in affirmative action that causes us to cling to it and to its distracting emphasis on representation. This quote uses an appeal to logic to express why people are still persisting on using it. When people think of affirmative action they tend to believe that colleges need more representation, but really when Colleges are asking to recruit people of color and insert diversity into their college, they only want the cosmetic diversity that covers the blemish of disparity. These quotas are not actually effective in helping blacks be progressive for their future and education Only 26 to 28 percent of blacks graduate from college. Shelby Steele wants young blacks to take action for their education, rather than being a diversity trophy at college. Steele is motivated to help start a change in how blacks are educated, because the amount of black students that are graduating in a six year term is too low. Shelby then connects this to race because this results in an artificial diversity that gives the appearance of an educational parity between black and white students that has not been achieved in reality. An artificial diversity is what is making this situation a crisis. When a school ask for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shades of a White Man What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculties, in form and moving how express and admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like a god. (Shakespeare) Humans were born pure, humble and humane. Politics, science, conflicts and the innate desire for dominance change who we are, and who we ultimately aspire to be. The culture we are born into, too, affects who we are in a rather dramatic way; it contributes significantly in writing the script of a person s life. George Orwell was born into a culture of white men, a culture that believes in dominance and superiority, a culture that steps on whoever stands in its way. Imperialism was that culture; the culture that Orwell was influenced by, and suffered from. From my perspective, I believe that even though George Orwell claimed that he was against the imperialist, British culture; I was all for the Burmese and against their oppressors, the British (Orwell, Shooting an Elephant, par. 2), he was an imperialist in disguise, and had always been one. He was a unique imperialist, one who had morals and ethical obligations, which seemingly resulted in his lifelong misery, since it would not naturally align with the culture he belongs to. • 39. Conformity In The Film Without My Daughter Refusing forced conformity can lead to consequences, and an individual can never conform to anything, without defecting another. The well known director Brian Gilbert conveyed and explored the theme of conformity in one of his memorable movies Without my daughter . The movie is extracted from a real life story of Betty Mahmoody and her daughter Mahtob Mahmoody. The storyline of the movie revolves around an American couple, the husband is from an Iranian background and he hasn t visited his home country for more than 10 years. The story progresses as they visit Iran and her husband; Moody steals her freedom and forces her to live with him and with his family in Iran. Thus, Betty and Mahtob are being forced to conform to the rules and regulations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His idea was conveyed and explored in many scenes of the movie. One of the scenes is when Moody s father wakes him up early every morning to perform the morning prayer that is unbreakable part of the muslim tradition. Techniques such as facial expressions, dialogue and the tone of voice are used to express this idea. When Betty in a sleepy tone asks her husband to stay in bed, You ve been getting up early every morning. Don t go. He replied to her angrily by saying; What s the matter with you? We re with my family. They re Sayyeds direct descendants of Mohammed. Of course, to a sophisticated American that must seem primitive. Betty s facial expression were filled with sadness and pure confusion as she couldn t identify the reason behind her husband s reaction and words. This shows that Moody was conforming to his family and religion, however he wasn t conforming to his old lifestyle in America. Also when Betty asked him to stay, she wasn t conforming to the Islamic religion and tradition. Again Gilbert achieved his goal clearly when he showed live evident of conformity in the movie, and this further extents the confirmation of the idea that an individual can never conform to anything, without defecting ... Red Blood Cells Lab Report The experiment confirms the hypothesis as, when compared to the isotonic environment, the sheep red blood cells that were exposed to a hypotonic environment either expanded or lysed. The increased ECF s absorbance in the three hypotonic solutions show that more light was absorbed an indicator of a ruptured red blood cell. Although the 50mM solutionproduced a lower absorbance than the 100mM solution when the expected amount of the former should have been higher than the latter, the hypotonic solution still has a larger absorbance than the isotonic solution. It is worth noting that the hypotonic environments produced the clearest red solutions. In all three hypotonic environments, high absorbance values in comparison to the isotonic controlled environment were collated (Table 3). When taking into account osmosis, this could be a result from the sheep red blood cells rupturing and releasing haemoglobin as too much water was absorbed (Lluka 2016). The positive control 0mM produced the largest absorbance value most likely due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, the concentration of solutes in his red blood cells (ICF) is lower than the concentration of his ECF. As a result, the water in the ICF moves into the ECF; causing the cells to shrink (Reece et al. 2014). In order to treat Baxter, his blood cells must expand to regain their ideal shape. By increasing the amount of water in the ECF, this will dilute the solute concentration; bringing the environment back to an isotonic system. However, as seen in Table 3, if pure water (0mM) is used, the red blood cells could lyse as, to reach equilibrium, the cell will absorb more water than is required. Since this is a result of the extreme concentration gradient, isotonic saline, where the solute present is lower than the ICF, should be administered intravenously. This would be a smaller concentration gradient; an ideal that will allow the cells to expand but not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Ancient Societies Collapse Research Paper Throughout history there have been an untold number of societal collapses; some have been studied completely and others forgotten in history. As time passes and new innovations are created, so are new paths for collapse. However, the downfalls of the ancient civilizations are also applicable in today s society. With decades of archaeological and historical research, theories have arisen as to why these societies collapsed and what humans of today can do to avoid a similar fate. While many collapses are thought to have occurred from several factors compounding over many years, most can be attributed to three main issues: the environment, war, and trade. Environmental changes seem to have the quickest and most drastic affect on civilizations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most likely way that current society will collapse would be a large scale environmental change that affects a majority of the Earth. In the most dramatic case, if a climate changing event such as a volcanic eruption or a heat wave occurred, the effects would be catastrophic. If the event affected enough of the planet, there would be mass starvation that would eventually lead to the downfall of human civilization. Also, humans affecting the environment with global warming and using up natural resources such as oil and trees will create an uninhabitable planet. If the environmental change only affected a small region, other countries would provide aid and attempt to rebuild that society. If trade were to disintegrate globally, many societies would collapse due to their dependence on imported goods and the profit from exported items, similar to Pitcairn and Henderson. If trade from one country stopped, it would not have as much of an effect seeing as all of the countries connected and another trade system could be created. For example, if trade from a country that produces oil stops, many countries would suffer without fuel for a short while until another trade route from a different country began. Due to the economically interconnected nature of the world today, it is unlikely that a collapse would happen due to shifting trade. Another main factor of collapse is war and societies ending due to invasions. A modern day war could be taken far enough where entire cities are wiped out and civilizations destroyed. For example, if the War on Terror is continued for long enough, countless societies in West Asia could be demolished. Ultimately, any of the aforementioned changes could cause a collapse, it merely depends on the magnitude and severity of the event, and which places are afflicted. Other ... Women Of The Civil Rights Act Of 1964 During the 1960s, living off one income had become increasingly more difficult to continue living a comfortable lifestyle with the rise in economic demands. Therefore, forcing many American women to begin seeking jobs in the workforce. However, many qualified women were quickly looked over by men, some with fewer years of experience and education. Potential employers felt that women would not be able to face the stress that went along with work. Age of Enlightenment The impact of the printing press on science and technology was tremendous. Before the press, scientists had worked in relative isolation. With the printing press came the publishing of their results, which accelerated the rate of scientific discovery. Many of these advances directly impacted the quality of life for large groups of people through improved medicine, domestic and agricultural technology, and transportation. The birth of the modern scientific revolution can be directly linked to early printed works by Nicolaus Copernicus, Johannes Kepler, Galileo Galilei, and Isaac Newton, with his Principia (1687) as the crowning achievement of this early phase. Printing books provided a means that scientists could use to record, arrange, and preserve the knowledge they d been studying.
