Under the influences from the Europeans, American began developing its own railroad system.
With the vast amount of land available, the Americans were able to build railroads with far
larger scale than those built in Europe. The earliest railways in the United States were just like
those earlier railroads in Europe. They were short, wooden railways built by quarries and mines
along which horses pulled loads to nearby water ways. In the 1827, the mine and quarry
operators built the first full size railways. In 18329, the first locomotive for the railroads was
imported from Europe. Although some Americans such as Horatio Allen had been experiencing
with locomotives, their locomotives were proved to be too heavy for the tracks that had been

railroad era in America truly began in the 1830s when Peter Cooper s locomotive, Tom Thumb,
first steamed along 13 miles (21 km) of Baltimore and Ohio railroad track. (Rail transport, Early
railroads in the US, Wikipedia) Tom Thumb traveled at speeds approaching fifteen miles per
hour while pulling a car filled with thirty people. This led the beginning of train transportation of
human not minerals or ore. However, not until the 1850s, though, did railroads offer long
distance service at reasonable rates. Not only the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was the first carry
passengers but also the first to evolve from a single line to a network in the United States.
Railroads were connected to each other between some cities. However, in order to get from one city
to another, the passengers had to transfer train multiple times. In addition, only at places like

Have you ever wanted to go to Jamaica because of their lifestyle or accent? Sure, you did! But, is
their lifestyle really what it is put out to be? Jamaican culture is the up building, upholding, and
one of the starting points of African culture. So, I am here to inform you about it. The culture of
Jamaica is very unique. Their culture is not the type of culture you would always imagine.
Jamaican culture all started in the dancehall. The dancehall started in the cities of Kingston in
the late 1940s but really started to become popular in the 1950s. The dancehall queen is the
highest rank in the dancehall. The dancehall queen means that the person is the most visible and
the best dancer of them all. As soon as the music hit the US in the 60 s and 70 s, it started to
migrate into a Jamaican flavor or as known reggae. The food customs of Jamaica is very
different. The Jamaican patty is the most well known. These patties are dated back all the way to
when Jamaica was found. In this patty it is found to be different spices to be cooked in their flaky
shell. According to VIP Attractions, it states that, Today, patties can be found all over Jamaica and
the rest of the Caribbean. They became such a reminiscent piece of Jamaica that they have made
their way into Europe and North America to satisfy the longing palates of the Jamaican Diaspora.
Also, in the Jamaican culture, they eat Johnny Cakes. They also call these Jamaican Fried
