Ecclesiastes Solomon
In analyzing the word vanity, most would like to believe that the term is referring to one being selfish
prideful. Like a lot of humans tend to think, however, the term according to this part of the Old
Testament means the emptiness one feels within their life when he or she is apart from God. For
example, when reading the book of Ecclesiastes Solomon wants his audience to see his frustration,
sin, and emptiness as a reflection. The thought addresses the way Solomon life had become since he
has not chosen to make God first in his lifestyle. When we as humans tend to lean unto our
understanding and do not stay the course, often far too many times people tend to stray away from the
path that God has bestowed upon us making our journey even ... Show more content on

Therefore, the meaning that we tend to think throughout the course of our lives that we tackle a battle
or two on our own. However, like the sayings of Footprints in the Sand Poem, the poem speak aloud
about the audience that throughout the course of our lives we must rely and depends on God
(Stevenson, 2009)! In Ecclesiastes 6 the KJV the author discusses that there is an evil under the sun,
which is The Futility of Life (Bible Hub, Eccl.6). It specifies the way we as humans put stock into
material things here on Earth such as money, houses, cars and other items that tend to make us show
vanity because none of these things God will allow us in his kingdom. My grandmother use to always
say being vanity is never wise it is something that God despise because he should always be your
priority if you desire to be with him in Glory! Therefore, the term vanity is when a person has self
gratitude whether a possession of something is involved or if they assumed they conquered something
on their own such as a test independently. I asked my mother, who was 44 yrs old if it was hard

John Knowles A Separate Peace
A Separate Peace Final Paper The setting of A Separate Peace by John Knowles plays a large role in
the plot of the story. The most important parts of the novel take place at the Devon School. Another
thing that makes Devon so important is that it s where the main characters live. As I mentioned before,
Devon is where most of the important parts of the novel take place and it s where the main characters
live, that is why Devon is so significant. The time period was also very important; the novel takes
place during World War II and Devon is a school where boys are trained to be soldiers. The war is
used as a symbol; it represents depression, anger, and the end of childhood. The Devon School can
change based on the season. During the summer session, Devon is a peaceful place and shows the
innocence of childhood and friendship. When the winter session arrives the peaceful atmosphere
disappears and the school becomes gloomy, tense, and a more hostile place as the boys grow up. ...

He attended the Phillips Exeter Academy and based Devon and the events in the story around his
experiences( John Knowles ). Instead of trying to come up with a story that he couldn t relate to, he
based it around a real life experience which made the novel more realistic. The more realistic he could
make the story, the more people would like it because then the readers could feel like these characters
are real and could relate to them. He combined a real experience with the first person point of view
making it seem like it could have all happened, he could have cause his best friend to fall out of a tree,
a friend could have enlisted and later gone insane, but Knowles claims that he never experienced the

Undermining Self Image
Is Your Self Image Undermining Your MLM Success?
By Ed Reiner
Jul 24, 2011
We all would like success and yet, for most of us it is just a dream I use to question why some people
just naturally seemed to receive success in their mlm business while I struggled and worked
vigorously for average results. I knew the procedures these winner s taking, but for some odd reason I
couldn t consistently do the equivalent, why? It wasn t until I started to examine myself and human
capability that I found that science and psychology have identified the one premier cause for mlm
success or failure in life. It is the unseen self image that you have of yourself. Same as your mind

All your actions, feeling, behavior, even your abilities, are always consistent with your self image.
2. The self image can be changed.
He went on to say that the self image is a premise a base or a foundation upon which your entire
personality, your behavior and your ear your circumstances are built.
There are four basic steps to build your new self image and it starts with the Imagination. It is with
your imagination that you are going to erect your new self image, a mlm winner s image. This is
something that is simple but it is not easy, it is something that the majority of people require aid with
and to go into intense detail on this in one article is just not workable. What I will do though, is I will
give you four main steps to establish this procedure.
#1 Decide what you want.
Make the decision as to what you exceedingly yearn for, not just what you think you can get, make a
decision and erect a clear picture.
#2 Decide what you are prepared to give up to get it.
Let go of your old image, the past is dead. This is where the law of sacrifice comes into play. This is
where you give up something of a less important nature to make opportunity for something of a
elevated nature.

The Maltese Falcon
Readers who have never picked up on the Dashiell Hammett detective novel The Maltese Falcon 1930
or seen the classic 1941 film adaptation, which follows the novel almost verbatim, can feel a strong
sense of familiarity, faced for the first time in history. In this book, Hammett invented the hard boiled
private eye genre, introducing many of the elements that readers have come to expect from detective
stories: mysterious, attractive woman whose love can be a trap , search for exotic icon that people are
willing to kill the detective, who plays both sides of the law, to find the truth , but it is ultimately
driven by a strong moral code , and shootings and beatings enough for readers to share the feeling of
danger Detective . For decades , countless writers have copied the themes and motifs Hammett may
rarely come anywhere near him almost perfect blend of cynicism and excitement. Hammett is one of
those rare writers whose critical esteem overcame a small genre in which he wrote. Former detective
himself, who wrote about the business with a keen eye for the details of the case, but also showed a
special ability to engage in dialogue and understanding the depths of the human soul. Hammett in his
life, he was considered a great detective writer , producing five novels, over eighty books and
numerous scripts for Hollywood and radio. Today, he is respected as one of the most important and
original writers of the United States. The novel begins with Brigid O Shaughnessy hires

The On The Arid Coastline Of Oil Rich Libya
On the arid coastline of oil rich Libya you can find a struggling desert community consumed in war
and crime the city of
Benghazi. Beginning with the overthrow of King Idris in 1969 and the 42 year reign of dictator
Muammar Gaddafi, Libya has been anything but a stable country. The controversial dictatorship of
Gaddafi, his overthrowing in 2011, and the subsequent reign of terror by numerous militant groups
that hold Benghazi in their grip to this day have contributed to numerous deaths (Maslin, 2016) and
thousands displaced. Another aspect of Benghazi s fight for survival stems from the relatively recent
introduction of constant fresh water. In 1953, while searching for oil, Gaddafi discovered an ancient
underground aquifer that since has been the #1 source of fresh water for Libya (Borrell, 1986). With
waging war causing power outages and infrastructure at risk of being bombed, this water source,
called fossil water, is unreliable as ever (Hrimark, 2011) Amidst an unstable government, ISIS s reign
of terror and an unreliable source of water, Benghazi is at risk of losing itself as a civilization.
On September 1,1969 Muammar Gaddafi, leader of the Revolutionary Command Council, overthrew
King Idris and took control of Libyan government. Gaddafi s actions were fueled by his want of
independence from western civilization and to obtain power over the majority of the oil supply in
Libya (Okechukwu, 2012). During his 42 year reign of power, Gaddafi made many

Essay Comparing The Pearl And Huckleberry Finn
Once someone can be extracted out of their society and placed into a world that is new and uncertain,
the time arrives when they find out who they are going to become. For the characters, their life began
the moment that they were pushed out of their comfort zone into a world that was fully part of the
wilderness. The wilderness is the place where all the characters escape the rigorous rules and
regulations of the society in which they were created to protect. For Hester and Pearl, the wilderness,
especially the forest is the place where the truth is set free and their sin is just a measly letter A. For
Huck and Jim, the same outcome happens in the wilderness; Huck finds out the worth of Jim.
Throughout both novels, it is evident that the wilderness represents a place of danger and
unknowingness. The ones who are lucky enough to uncover this wilderness can fully find the beauty
in the area which few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The wilderness is dangerous, but the way society is run in the civilizations is more dangerous and
potent than the unknown forest. The wilderness becomes the place where the characters in both novels
can be free from the pressure and socialization processes of society into finding who they were made
to be.
In the wilderness, Hester, Pearl, Huck, and Jim were respected and recognized as human beings
compared to being in society. Hester respected Pearl and valued her as a person unlike the community
with their views. The society saw Pearl as an elf child who was not fit to live under Hester s rule
anymore and was dirtied with her mother s sin. Hawthorne illustrates, Without question, she is equally
in the dark as to her soul, its present depravity, and future destiny! Me thinks, gentlemen, we need
inquire no further (Hawthorne 77). To the community, she was a product of sin and didn t rate high in
the Puritan society. She was disregarded and forced to live her mother s sentence of solidarity in the
middle of the wilderness alongside her

Crisis Management Plan Essay
Crisis Management Plan For Etihad Airways
Crisis management is an integral part of any company s strategic planning not only to prepare but also
to mitigate the effects of a crisis on business continuity. In this discussion, I will design a crisis
communication plan for Etihad Airways, which is the company that I work for, eight years now. It is
the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, and it is based in Abu Dhabi; it is just 12 years old,
and it only operates international routes. Etihad is a government owned company; however,
organizational wise, it is a semi governmental entity (Etihad Airways, 2015).
Etihad s crisis management team consists of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. James Hogan; he will
serve as the crisis management team president and the spokesperson of Etihad to the media. Under the
president operates a public relation manager, Mr. Kevin Knight, he is a member of our executive team
and serves as Chief Strategy and Planning Officer; he is also the second ... Show more content on

It is a continuous process of decision making and weighting and thinking of the consequences of each
and every move not only in the immediate future but also for the development strategy and business
continuity. Etihad needs to communicate to their internal publics with a shared sense of responsibility
and unity and their external audiences with confirmation on the public safety. Pre assigned tasks, a
reference source, and well delegated duties can minimize confusion in times of crisis.
Having crisis communication plan makes addressing the publics (internally and externally) a
consistent, accurate, and quick process that allows the PR team to communicate, investigate, organize,

Operation Enduring Freedom
Operation Enduring Freedom was conceived in response to the notorious attacks on the 11 September
2001. Combat operations began on 7 October 2001 when mixed ordnance strikes from land based B 1
Lancer, B 52 Stratofortress, and B 2 Spirit bombers; carrier based F 14 and F 18 fighter bombers; and
Tomahawk cruise missiles from U.S. and British warships hit Afghan soil where taliban fighters were
suspected of using to train and arm terrorists signaled the start of Operation Enduring Freedom. In
January of the following year, the United States Special Operations Command Pacific (SOCPAC)

Black Friday Madness
Black Friday Madness
In the essay Black Friday: Consumerism Minus Civilization, the author, Andrew Leonard, makes the
argument that, The out of control marketing and consumer insanity (135) has taken over Thanksgiving
and the days following it. Sadly, as consumers, we have forgotten what Thanksgiving is really all
about. Marketing businesses have gone overboard brainwashing consumers with advertisements
pumping them up to shop on Black Friday and the days that follow. Moreover, marketing businesses
have caused the actions we see and hear about on Black Friday such as people being trampled, as
consumers rush into stores to shop the sales, and are proof of this insanity. I strongly agree with
Leonard s arguments from Black Friday: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, within the stores there are so many areas sections off with lines for their own for specific
items such as laptops, Ipads, and other expensive items that are very limited in the quantity a store
even receives. The insanity of the consumers showing up hours before the store even opens or sales
even began made me step back and wonder if it is really worth the few bucks of savings. I have seen
consumers rushing to be the first in line and closest to the pallets and racks of the items still covered
up. It is crazy people actually start taking the boxes apart to look what inside while waiting for the sale
time to start. I do not recommend bringing your kids to shop, because consumers can be rude and very
pushy. Also, some stores even announce specials that are only advertised in the store during the Black
Friday sale times. All these things seem to just send consumers into and even bigger frenzy.
Leonard argues that it is time to take back Thanksgiving. He has many thoughts and points to the
insanity that Black Friday shopping brings. Leonard states But there s also a point where healthy
consumerism becomes out of control marketing driven commodity fetishism, and when we find
ourselves checking our smartphones for last minute online deals while standing in line for a chain
store opening at midnight on Thanksgiving,

Theme Of Love In City Lights
I. The one theme that connects all the films we have watched in this class is an overall theme of love
this love presents itself in many different ways. In City Lights, the love between The tramp and the
blind girl, in Central Station it is the love between two strangers, Dora and Josue, The Namesake has
the love in an arranged marriage, Children of Heaven, the love between a brother and sister, and The
Kite Runner has love between two best friends that transcends the generations. All of these movies
have very different sets of characters, plots, settings, and cultures but the one theme connecting them
all is love. This love presents itself in many different ways, but the love is present all the same.
City Lights by Charlie Chaplin took place right here in the United States and started off the semester
with a traditional view of love as a culture we often view falling in love with someone as the ideal
what everyone wants. We especially want someone to love us for who we are, not the money or things
that we have. In City Lights, the Tramp inadvertently tricks the blind girl into thinking that he has a lot
of money. However despite this deception, he loves her, he wants to do what is best for her, even if it
gets him in trouble or sends her away from him. He tries working hard to get her what she needs a
cure for her blindness. Working hard does not work out for him, and he goes to great lengths to get the
money for her, including the boxing match and asking the millionaire for help. He does this because
he loves her deeply and he wants what is best for her. The movie ends with her being able to see and
still accepting him despite the fact that he is not a millionaire. This film portrays the great American
love story putting the other person first, and loving them despite their circumstances.
Central Station from Brazil by Walter Salles depicts a different kind of love. This movie could have
been about Josue, and the love with his mother or his brothers at the end when he finds them instead it
is about the love between him and Dora, an old, sad woman with no relation to him. Throughout the
film, Dora always tries to do what she thinks is best for Josue. It is misguided at first, when she sells
him to

Jared Diamond Collapse Summary
Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail Or Succeed Author: Jared Diamond Published in New York,
2005 Pages: 570 Summary: This book follows the events of several civilizations from the past and
present, and how they either failed or succeeded to survive. The book starts with the author talking
about the Huls and Gardar Farm, and how even though they were thousands of miles apart, they had
many similar strengths which made them the superior farm in the area. The author then reveals that the
Huls farm was a growing farm in the modern U.S. and the Gardar Farm was a Norse farm in greenland
that was abandoned over 500 years ago. After revealing the differences between the two farms,
Diamond then states that any society, even one seeming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we return to our five point checklist of factors to be considered in connection with environmental
collapses, two of those factors attacks by neighboring enemy societies, and loss of support from
neighboring friendly societies played no role in Easter s collapse, because there is no evidence that
there were any enemies or friends in contact with Easter Island society after its founding.... For a role
of a third factor, climate change, we also have no evidence at present, though it may emerge in the
future. That leaves us with just two main sets of factors behind Easter s collapse: human
environmental impacts, especially deforestation and destruction of bird populations; and the political,
social, and religious factors behind the impacts, such as the impossibility of emigration as an escape
valve because of Easter s isolation, a focus on statue construction for reasons already discussed, and
competition between clans and chiefs driving the erection of bigger statues requiring more wood,
rope,and food. (Jared Diamond, Pg.

Analysis Of The Basque-American Indian Pidgin
The Basque American Indian pidgin found in the north eastern part of North America was first
documented in the early seventeenth century. Although it is believed to have first been used in the
sixteenth century, this was the first time that there was recorded documentation of someone
experiencing the pidgin. The pidgin was created between the Basque people of Spain and France and
the American Indian people of North America. The pidgin is believed to be composed from a lot of
Basque words and influence and the different languages the native people spoke. The native people
spoke variations of the Algonquian language, and their influence is also seen in the pidgin. The pidgin
was mostly spoken between the Basque people and the native people, although the native people also
used it when speaking to visiting Frenchmen. The Basque people were mostly seafarers and
sheepherders, while the native people were mostly hunters and farmers. When these the two groups
met it was usually to conduct trade of some sort. The Basque American Indian pidgin was a pidgin
used to help the Basque people and the native people to communicate. Before going into the linguistic
portion of the analysis, we need to talk about the pidgin itself and how it came to be. That is; what the
superstrate and the substrate of the pidgin are. Based on my analysis of the phonology, morphology,
and lexicon I have come to the conclusion that the superstrate of the pidgin was the Basque language.

Teenage Wasteland In the short story, Teenage Wasteland , there is a troubled boy named Donny.
Donny has trouble with his attitude and his grades, so his family decides to get him help. They are

As time goes on, his grades start to get worse; even though he seems to be happier and have a better

Resilience In Life Of Pi
Humanity tends to praise an individual for their exceptional perseverance, but instead, society should
begin acknowledging the real culprits: the mind and resilience of those who survive the extraordinary.
Hidden within the allegory, Life of Pi, is an ode to the mind and human resilience, and in order for one
to unearth this buried treasure, they must dig a little deeper. Yann Martel s, the author, protagonist
holds onto life with the support of his mind and body. Life of Pi is an ode to the human mind and

concepts he admires into his novel. In all these times of Pi s desperation his intellect provides some

Santa Maria De Florence Essay
n 1418 the town fathers of Florence finally addressed a monumental problem they d been ignoring for
decades: the enormous hole in the roof of their cathedral. Season after season, the winter rains and
summer sun had streamed in over Santa Maria del Fiore s high altar or where the high altar should
have been. Their predecessors had begun the church in 1296 to showcase the status of Florence as one
of Europe s economic and cultural capitals, grown rich on high finance and the wool and silk trades. It
was later decided that the structure s crowning glory would be the largest cupola on Earth, ensuring
the church would be more useful and beautiful, more powerful and honorable than any other ever
built, as the grandees of Florence decreed.
Still, many decades later, no one seemed to have a viable idea of how to build a dome nearly 150 feet

The Course of Political Development in Uganda and its Effect on Economic Development
Development has recently become a new buzz word in international relations. Through an exploration
of political, social and economic development around the globe, scholars are trying to understand
which policies are most beneficial, and why certain policies are effective and why some fail. The
connection between different types of development is often an important part of this research as well.
The connection between political and economic development is of specific interest since the end of the

Political and economic development in Uganda based on these terms provides a strong case for the
relationship between the two. The lack of political development in Uganda since independence from
Britain in 1962 has hindered economic development and it was not until recent political stability that
Uganda has been able to experience any sort of economic development.
To understand the political development in Uganda, it is important to start shortly before 1962 to
examine the political atmosphere of independence. Under the colonial system, Uganda was a
protectorate, meaning that land rights of Africans were respected, despite the commonplace of forced
labor and high taxes. In 1961 Uganda was granted self rule before gaining full independence in 1962.
With the granting of self rule, three major political parties formed, the Uganda People s Congress
(UPC), the Democratic Party (DP) and the Kabaka Yekka (KY). The main platform of the UPC was
nationalist and the party strived to unite all Ugandans despite ethnic differences. The KY was mainly
an ethnic party consisting of the Baganda people who were the most favored under British rule. An
alliance between the UPC and KY gave them more collective strength than the DP and increased the
political power of Milton Obote.
At independence in 1962, Obote, of the UPC, was appointed Prime

Canada Family Structure
Canada is a popular country that neighbors the United States of America and was originally controlled
by the French and British. The nation of Canada has a primarily cold climate and its citizens are
usually stereotyped as friendly and over apologetic. Canada seems to have good relations with many
other countries, which could explain its ethnic and cultural diversity. Despite it s close proximity to
America, the prime family structure of Canada differs slightly. In Canada, there are many families
who don t follow the typical nuclear family structure. A nuclear structure consists of two parents and
their children, while most married couples in Canada do not have children. In Canada in 2011, only
31.9% of family consisted of two parents with children while 35.1% consisted of just a married
couple. Single parents made up 16.3% of the family population, common law couples without children
made up 9.4%, and common law couples without children made up 7.3%. Of all the families with

others (such as the First Nations ) are part of this structure due to the death of the child/children or the

I had consumed a vast quantity of these nutrients during my three day period.
Keeping in range your micronutrient is very important, the range provides a guide to a well balanced
nutrition in which you should not exceed the recommended ratios in order not to create excess energy
in thus converting to fat. The lack of micronutrients is also important to keep in mind. Lack of these
nutrients can cause malnutrition that can lead to disease complexity disorder and long term damage to
your organs.
If you constantly eat too little protein you will start to lose muscle complexity due to that proteins are
the building blocks of muscle. If you deprive yourself of proteins and there is a lack of energy your
body will start taking energy from your muscles. If you consume too little carbohydrates you re
depriving yourself of necessary nutrients in whole grain foods and vegetables, some of the
consequences are digestive difficulties, decreased energy and heart disease.
When you eat too few lipids sources in your diet, you may not get enough essential fatty acids, which
could cause problems with your hair, skin, immune system and vision. Eating too little fat may also

The Idea Of The Self-Made Man By Pamela Laid
I found Pamela Laird s essay very interesting, and while I ve never subscribed to the idea of a self
made man , I never considered how the notion could be harmful. The concept of the self made man
states that most people can get where they want to be with hard work and a good entrepreneurial spirit.
This idea exemplifies the idea of the American Dream, and creates the illusion of an America where
anyone, regardless of ethnicity, gender, or economic background could become the next Steve Jobs or
Andrew Carnegie. Laird argues that self made success can, at least in part, be attributed to an
economic, political or social advantage. She makes an excellent argument on how individualism can
harm both the individual and the collective. The idea of the self made man can first be seen during the
Protestant Reformation, where people begin to drift away from the idea that they aren t in control of

Why Was the Weimar Republic in Germany Able to Survive the...
After the First World War ended in 1918, Germany was in a chaos. Although the Allies offered peace,
they demanded a democratic government in Germany. The Kaiser abdicated the throne while Ebert
formed the Weimar Republic and established the constitution in 1919. However the establishment of
this government was unstable with opposition from both left and right wings. Even more, the German
Parliament (Reichstag) relied on the cooperation of the coalitions of governments which resulted in
political weakness of this new democratic system because these coalitions often broke up. Yet, the
Weimar Republic was still able to survive through these years until 1929 as it was relatively stable
before the Wall Street Crash. However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, Germany lost all the overseas colonies, 10% of its land as well as industries. While
Germany was virtually bankrupt after the war, Germany still had a £6.6 billion for reparations to the
war. Inflation arose and the Germans suffered. Discontent towards the government increased as Ebert
was the one to blame. Germany was even said to be stab at the back by Ebert. At this stage, the
Weimar Republic was so weak and without the support from its people. However, the Ruhr Crisis
happened in 1923 restored some support from the people to the government as the government called
off a passive resistance to France s occupation in the Ruhr. This was one of the reasons that the
government was able to survive in these years.
However, the strike in the Ruhr Crisis had heavily affected its industry. The consequence of the strike
was inflation. Germany had no goods to trade so it couldn t repay the debt. Therefore, the government
printed more money causing hyperinflation. Poor people suffered but middle classes suffered the
most. This is an extremely unstable and hard time for Germany. Then, the new Chancellor Stresemann
resolved these problems. He renegotiated the period for the payment of debt and borrowed loans from
the US. The Dawes Plan worked successfully and the Germans economy recovered until 1929. In
addition, it was a time of political stability,

Teaching Children With Autism Essay
Plethora of instructional formats can be used by teachers when teaching children with autism. Some of
the instructional formats commonly used with children with ASD include small group instruction, one
on one instruction, peer mediated instruction, discrete trial and direct instruction. Use of reinforcement
can be highly effective when delivering instruction to children with autism. Several forms of
reinforcement can be utilized to increase desired behavior, such as use of computers, edibles, toys,
stickers, and verbal praises depending on what s motivating for the child. Barton, Lawrence, Deurloo

212). In their study, they evaluated DTT in a real situation where they recommended that As educators
and paraeducators seek to use DTT in community based settings, it is critical that they receive the
training and supervision needed to allow them to implement DTT in the manner in which it has proven
effective (p. 218). The study evaluated the training in school setting, but did not generalize skills to
different settings. Further research is needed to determine the efficacy of well trained staff in
delivering DTT to children with ASD. DTT is an evidence based practice, and research has shown that
it can help in teaching language skills and maximizing learning when instruction is delivered with
consistency and by trained staff. Discrete trial training is more effective in one on one instruction
while direct instruction can be delivered in small group format. Direct instruction (DI) intervention
can be used with children with autism to develop their language skills. In comparing discrete trial
instruction to direct instruction, Flores Ganz (2014) studied effectiveness of both DI and DTT in a
summer school program where thirteen students with autism attended for four weeks and received
special education services. They found that the students in the DI group performed slightly better than
their peers in the DTT group with moderate difference in effect on student learning for the DI group

young artists whom are struggling with addiction, AIDS and hope. The play was written in 1993 by
Jonathan Larson, whom based it loosely off of Puccini s La Boheme. The production was initially
performed in an Off Broadway theatre until it was moved in 1996 to Broadway s Nederlander Theatre.
With its success, director Chris Columbus transitioned the play into a film in 2005. The film has

The city comprised a group of skyscrapers cross shaped steel frames and glass walls giants, housing
offices and homes for the rich, each placed in rectangular green areas. In their midst is a large
transport hub with highways on several levels, and an airport on the top floor. Le Corbusier separates
the pedestrian access routes for cars, the unconditional supporter of cars as a means of transport.
The workers lived in the suburbs in zigzag blocks.
The next project, Radiant City is built along the same principles, only blocks are no longer built on
social criteria, but on the number of family members.
Le Corbusier s early work was related to nature, but as his ideas progressed, he developed the Maison

The Aryan National Liberation Front
Arthur Buzz Hirsch, a St. Joseph News Press reporter, conducted a background investigation on the
Aryan National Liberation Front (ANLF). This group is one of white supremacist and anti government
ideology. This group, according to confidential sources, is involved in harassment and tax evasion.
Two incidents, a bombing on February 12th (which two men have been arrested for) and a shooting
that took place on March 10th, are believed to be connected to the ANLF. However, a confidential
sources says the ANLF has nothing to do with the shooting. Recently, police and a member of the
prosecutor s office showed up at the News Press offices with a warrant, demanding Hirsch to turn over
all notes, research materials, and recordings relating to the ANLF. Also, he was urged to identify his
sources. Hirsch refused to do both. Whether or not the prosecuting office can demand Hirsch to turn
over any information depends on court precedents and current laws. In Branzburg v. Hayes (1972), the
Supreme Court decided the First Amendment did not grant reportorial privilege in the court. This
means journalists and other members of the press cannot use freedom of speech as a defense in order
to not testify. This includes if a source was meant to be confidential. Lower courts interpreted
Branzburg differently. In the case of Branzburg, reportorial privilege was unnecessary. Later with
Zerilli v. Smith (1981), the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals concluded that reportorial privilege existed.

Profit Maximization Through Innovation Technologies
Background
Agricultural industry is one of the most important industries of Uzbekistan. Agriculture sector
employs 28% of Uzbekistan s labor force and generates 24% of its GDP (Uzreport, 2006). Therefore
further development of agricultural industry in Uzbekistan is crucial for Uzbek nation. According to
UNDP within the next 20 years, the world will gain another 1.4 billion people. Representing a 25
percent increase in global population, most of these people will live in the expanding urban centers of
developing countries and will add greatly to the world s demand for food. Demand for food products

Innovation in agriculture and sub industries can be a key driver of poverty reduction in poor rural
economies (OECD,2010).The impact on the environment could also be major while using water
efficient technologies watering more efficiently and less wastefully. This includes drip irrigation
systems, desalination, recycling, or drought resistant plants. Such technologies already have been
applied in USA and EU countries which enable farmers to improve profitability by using less fertilizer
and pesticides, with little or no fall in yields, through the adoption of new methods.(Gurria, 2010.)
Another highlighted issue in literature is greenhouse emissions caused by natural gas burning. Natural
gas is mostly used energy type in greenhouse industry . Greenhouse gas emissions included
approximately 465,000 metric tons of CO2, 9 metric tons of CH4 and 7 metric tons of N2O in 2006
worldwide (BD, 2010). Negative impact of natural gas to environment also another need to develop
new energy saving technologies and secure new renewable energy sources that can substitute for fossil
fuels are very urgent. According to Choi (2008) energy recovery from wastes is being internationally
recognized as a reliable method to reduce greenhouse gases which have negative influence to climate.

Persuasive Speech On School Lunches
A healthy, delicious, lunch is what many schools strive for, however many don t follow suit in the best
way possible. I am writing to you, Mr. Dawson, to address the fact that Ronald E. McNair High
School fails to provide their students with wholesome meals. As you may know, the Lodi Unified
School District has food services that promotes and brings attention to our freshly prepared school
meals made from California grown products (School Nutrition And Fitness). To promote even
healthier eating, McNair actively participates in the USDA case study, inviting mobile carts to bring
lunch closer to the students (School Nutrition And Fitness). Even with additional efforts put forth,
students still find the lunches unappetizing (due to low grade food quality) and prefer to eat other
alternatives.
According to Alice Waters and Katrina Heron, authors of No lunch left behind an article published in
The New York Times on February 19, 2009, the National School Lunch Program is a poor investment.
The authors informed the public that of $9 billion, very little actually goes into the food. They demand
fresh alternatives provided by local farmers and refine school equipment, to instead prepare fresh
nutritious meals for the school. Although we may produce some meals at the school, there are still
ways to improve the equipment to better serve the students. Education about sensible eating is also
recommended, as it will teach students a nourishing lifestyle outside of school. With a well
constructed plan that upgrades the quality of the food and food education, it will surely make our
school healthier!
Waters and Heron do have a point. Creating our own fresh lunches at the school have perks, but what
about food options? A better idea would be to advance on vegetarian options that cater more
vegetables, fruits, whole grains, soy foods, and more dairy products. Creating new and exciting
options will attract more students to lunch and they may even start to find the lunch appetizing. On
September 14, 2017, an ERWC class taught by Edward Cruz conducted an eleven question survey
about eating habits and preferences at McNair. The survey questioned the appeal of school lunches
and found that only 31% of students found the

What Role Does Fate Play In Macbeth
How Is Fate Decided? Fate played a crucial role throughout the story of Macbeth. From the time of

To start, the initial telling of the prophecy that started it all. It stated that Macbeth would become the

In Macbeth hallucinations and the decent into madness are shown as a result. As Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth finally begin to seal their fate, they did not take into account the consequences of their
actions and only looked ahead at the inevitable reward. They ultimately wanted to make sure their fate
was sealed as monarchs. In doing so, they became incredibly guilt stricken, proving that no sin goes
unpunished and showcasing the ultimate power of guilt. In Act I Lady Macbeth says that, A little water
clears us of this deed (II, II, 67) right after she and Macbeth carried out the murder of King Duncan.
However, in Act V those words come to haunt her as she hallucinates Duncan s blood on her hands
and is trying to wash it off while she is sleep walking, Out, damned spot! Out, I say! One, two. Why,
then, tis time to do t. Hell is murky! Fie, my lord, fie! A soldier, and afeard? What need we fear who
knows it, when none can call our power to account? yet who would have thought the old man to have
had so much blood in him (V, I, 25 29). Macbeth also has his share of hallucinations steaming from
guilt beginning with a bloody dagger that appears to him after he murders King Duncan, Is this a
dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not,
and yet I see thee still. Or art thou not, fatal vision, sensible to feeling as to sight? Or art thou but a
dagger of the mind, a false creation, proceeding from the heat oppressed brain? I see thee yet, in form
as palpable as this which now I draw (II, I, 33 43). Macbeth s hallucination of Banquo s ghost
appearing at the banquet after Macbeth had him killed proves how guilty Macbeth felt inside. As the
ghost shook his head at Macbeth in disappointment, Macbeth exclaimed, Thou canst not say I did it.
Never shake thy gory locks at me (III, IV,

Pain And Treatment Of Chest Pain
Patients experiencing chest pain require immediate assessment, including a twelve lead ECG within
the time frame of ten minutes, will provide vital evidence of a cardiac, plueretic or musculoskeletal

many definitions ranging from either stabbing, dull, crushing or burning. In certain cases, pain travels

of the plate changes the capacitance. The electrets capacitor is connected to an FET amplifier. These
microphones are small, have excellent sensitivity, a wide frequency response and a very low cost.
First amplification stage:
This is a standard self biasing common emitter amplifier. The 22nF capacitor isolates the microphone

The tank (LC) circuit:
Every FM transmitter needs an oscillator to generate the radio frequency carrier waves. The tank (LC)
circuit, the BC547 and the feedback 5pF capacitor are the oscillator in the cadre. An input signal is not
needed to sustain the oscillation. The feedback signal makes the base emitter current of the transistor
vary at the resonant frequency. This causes the emitter collector current to vary at the same frequency.

Organizational Decentralization
I. Organizational Decentralization
Rationale of Decentralization The term decentralization is often used in business environments and
can be defined as the organizational severance and division of power, capital, and technical procedures
and control into multiple units of the business.1 Decentralized corporations make it possible for
managers to control without ownership. 4 In decentralized organizations, the breakdown is that the
president of each unit of a business is on his or her own management wise. The president of each unit
is provided a board of directors and a financial budget from the parent company, but is allowed to run
the company with no hindrance as long as financial goals are met. 2 Decentralization is seen as an

And even though each unit is run independently, headquarters must provide an overall main financial
plan for units to follow. The financial plan should include guidelines on such things as suitable profit
margin and return on investment obligations. It is also up to headquarters to maintain adequate watch
over each unit to ensure that they are performing freely within reasonability. It is important that unit
action is free of detriment to the company s reputation as a whole. 2
There should also be a certain degree of expert functions performed by a competent staff. It would
benefit a company more to have organizational units that focused on specific functions, instead of
having each units employees and equipment perform multiple tasks. The reason is due to cost; it can
become expensive to re equip a machine to shift from performing one function to performing
another.1
Measuring Performance In order for a decentralized organization to be successful, it must be
accommodating and led by proposals, values, and objectives that are not only steady but are relevant
to long term practice. 1 According to a study done by McKinsey and Co. a successful decentralized
company is simple in form and low on staff. It has continued contact with past clients and emphasizes
skills and abilities that are best known. When emphasizing its best skills, a successful unit focuses on

Hollywood Gladiator History
Gladiator
Throughout Hollywood history, movies have been depicted a lot differently than what art historians
believe had actually happened. Movies have been glorified, characters have been given different
ensembles, and new characters have been developed and introduced. The movie Gladiator was a big
success in the box office and it won many awards. Although the movie was appropriate in the
Hollywood side of things, there are many differences between what Hollywood wants their audience
to see and what was historically correct.
The story follows a man named Maximus Decimus Meridius played by Russel Crowe. In the film
Maximus was a Roman General turned gladiator and although his character was essentially fictional, it

In Corporal Punishment Persists in the U.S Schools an Education week article by Alyssa Morones, the
text states how students argued that their rights were not considered. If the rights of students are
violated, a safe environment will not be evoked at school. The author writes, Students argued that
Florida s corporal punishment policy violated their rights under the Eighth Amendment... and their
14th Amendment (Morones 3). This shows the school board of those who do implement corporal
punishment do not take in consideration the rights of students. Corporal punishment makes kids feel
unsafe in a school setting. Therefore, corporal punishment should be banned from schools in order to

President Johnson s Social Reform
For hundred of years, women have strived for equality with men. In fact, many argue to this day,
women across the globe are treated as second class citizens. Countless studies have been conducted by
independent universities and groups supporting this ideology. Statistics from these institutions have
often brought women to the Civil Rights forefront, during a time period when women s suffrage was
in its second wave. Advocacy for this cause has come in the form of much more than field studies and
collected research. Lyndon Johnson s social reform was greatly successful in providing equality for
women through new legislation and his support of the National Organization for Women. To
understand President Johnson s social reform, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women have always been portrayed as inferior to men, a myth that can be traced back to Christian
theology during the 4th century. A 13th century theologian, said that woman was created to be man s
helpmeet, but her unique role is in conception . . . since for other purposes men would be better
assisted by other men. (Women 1) Even during the 1960 s, the antiquated idea that a woman was
inferior to a man was widely accepted. It wasn t until approximately 40 years prior to the 1960 s that
woman acquired freedom and mobility thanks to the automobile industry. Legislation was also
evolving as a whole. It was becoming more and more ambitious, and achieved to solve issues in the
country very quickly. Prior to Lyndon Johnson s presidency was that of John F. Kennedy. President
Kennedy proposed the most ambitious plan since the New Deal, entitled the New Frontier . The New
Frontier targeted social injustices in the United States, dealing with racism and sexism. Some
hypothesize that this legislation influenced President Johnson to further pursue social issues that
plagued the United States. Through pursuing these issues, Lyndon Johnson would close the widening
gap between men and women. President Johnson was extremely driven to push for more equal rights.
He was inspired by the creation of the Equal Pay Act of 1963. Prior to this act, men and women who
were performing the same jobs were not earning equal wages. The argument was that men

Investigate how the Concentration of Sucrose Solution...
Investigate how the Concentration of Sucrose Solution affects the Mass of the Potato Chip
Aim
To find out how the concentration of sucrose solution affects the mass of the potato chip left in the
solution for one day.
Water Potential:
The water potential of a solution is a measure of whether it is likely to lose or gain water molecules
from another solution. A dilute solution, with its high proportion of free water molecules, is said to
have higher water potential than a concentrated solution, because water will flow from the dilute to the
concentrated solution (from a high potential to a low potential). Pure water has the highest possible
water potential because water molecules will flow from pure water to any other ... Show more content

A low concentration of sucrose in ratio to water will make the potato increase in length and mass.
I predict that when the sucrose concentration is low the potato chip will gain mass. This is because
there will be a higher water concentration in the potato chip so water will go into the potato from the
solution. I predict that when there is a high concentration of sucrose the potato will lose mass. This is
because there is a higher concentration of sucrose solution compared to that in the potato chip so water
from the potato will go into the solution to even it out.
In my experiment I will have a test tube with a potato chip in. The outside wall of the potato chip is
selectively permeable so it lets water pass through it but not bigger molecules such as sucrose. In the
test tubes I will put different concentrations of sucrose solution
When the concentration of the solution is lower than that in the potato, water will pass through the
selectively permeable wall into the potato. The mass of the potato chip increases.
RESULTS:
Concentration Initial mass Final mass Change in mass % change

Social Classes In The United States
It is said that the United States is made up of around six different social classes, however the three
main classes are better known as the Upper, Middle, and Lower class. The three remaining classes are
better known as subcategories for each of the main classes. These subcategories help break the classes
up giving them their individual class.
The upper class makes up roughly 1% of the United States population. This class is best known as the
class of wealth. This wealth is referred to as old (inherited) money. Individuals within the upper class
are often known by and for their family name and/or wealth. Examples being the Rockefellers and the
Kennedys. Although these individuals are born into money, most are educated at the biggest and most
prestigious colleges in the United States. Most individuals use this education to continue family
businesses or to make a name for themselves outside the family name. Within ... Show more content

Individuals that make up the middle class earn their income by means of working a professional job. A
large majority of this group are educated with college degrees or have attended college for a period of
time outside of high school. The middle class is often referred to as the white collar class which in
turn gets its name from the fact that many middle class men wear suits with white shirts to work daily.
Examples of the middle class are those that are doctors, lawyers, and pharmacist. A category that can
be found within the middle class is the working class. This class makes up 30% of the United States
population. Individuals within this class are educated with college and/or technical degrees or training.
This group can also be referred to as the blue collared class, which in turn means that this group is
likely to wear uniforms instead of suits and ties. Examples of these individuals would be those that are
electricians, carpenters and police

Review Of Lemony Snicket s The Bad Beginning
I ve read many books in my life that touched me but I ve never read a book that changed me as much
as the book The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket.. The book starts, of course, with a bad beginning.
The main characters, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire lose their parents in a fire. They are sent to
live with a really distant relative named Count Olaf. He is very cruel and makes the orphans do many
hard chores. But one day he offers the orphans to join him in a play about marriage. Count Olaf would
be the groom and Violet would be the bride. It is supposed to be a fake marriage but the kids find out
that it is real. They find out that the only reason he is doing it was to steal the Baudelaire fortune. They
refused were forced to participate. During ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I say that because I felt bad for the orphans but they helped me understand that not every relative will
be kind. Like Count Olaf. Plus, if someone is mean in the beginning and then they suddenly become
nice, they probably mean more harm than good. Another thing I realized was that my life can turn
around at any moment. Just like the Baudelaires. Second, now I see myself as a totally different
person. I am more of an open person now. I like to share my thoughts and how I feel about things. If
the Baudelaires had shared their thoughts about staying with Count Olaf, and the way he treated them
earlier they probably would have suffered less. This book also helped me think about others more. If I
ever see anyone suffering as much the orphans I will totally speak up. Last, this book changed the way
I see the world. Now I understand that on any average day anything as bad as losing my home and my
parents could happen. I know now that the world will not believe that you ve been tortured if you don
t have proof, just like they denied the Baudelaires. Also, I trust less people now. If the orphans had
trusted Count Olaf their lives would have been much

Triton s Role In The Novel Reef By Romesh Gunesekera
Introduction
Romesh Gunesekera; the author of the novel Reef (1994), begins the story with a young boy by the
name of Triton, entering Mr Salgado s household as a Kolla , meaning boy, and starting to become
weary of himself and his own capabilities. Throughout the novel, Triton faces certain hardships, but
quickly learns to overcome them as he begins to develop a sense of responsibility and independence
within the household. Mr Salgado becomes the centre of Triton s world and he is someone that Triton
looks up to and wants to become. However, everything changes when Miss Nili becomes the central
aspect of Mr Salgado s life and changes the relationships within the household, allowing Triton to see
things from a new perspective. Throughout the novel we see how Triton plays the role of an Outsider
as well as Insider within the home and how he starts becoming very observant with regards to Miss
Nili. In this essay I will discuss how Triton s role in Mister Salgado s household alters and becomes a
turning point in the novel.

and Miss Nili. This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Triton shows this by saying I read all Mister Salgado s books, one by one, over the years. This quote
suggests that Triton would always put Mr Salgado on a pedestal and he is someone that he will always
look up to because Mr Salgado played a big part in shaping Triton s life and helping him to become
the person that he is now. At a later stage in the novel, Triton even suggests that they should open up a
restaurant in London. This indicates that he does not want to let go of the relationship he has with Mr
Salgado. Therefore he would rather be a servant in Mr Salgado s household all over again than be an
empowered restaurant owner without Mr Salgado in his

  • 2. Ecclesiastes Solomon In analyzing the word vanity, most would like to believe that the term is referring to one being selfish prideful. Like a lot of humans tend to think, however, the term according to this part of the Old Testament means the emptiness one feels within their life when he or she is apart from God. For example, when reading the book of Ecclesiastes Solomon wants his audience to see his frustration, sin, and emptiness as a reflection. The thought addresses the way Solomon life had become since he has not chosen to make God first in his lifestyle. When we as humans tend to lean unto our understanding and do not stay the course, often far too many times people tend to stray away from the path that God has bestowed upon us making our journey even ... However, like the sayings of Footprints in the Sand Poem, the poem speak aloud about the audience that throughout the course of our lives we must rely and depends on God (Stevenson, 2009)! In Ecclesiastes 6 the KJV the author discusses that there is an evil under the sun, which is The Futility of Life (Bible Hub, Eccl.6). It specifies the way we as humans put stock into material things here on Earth such as money, houses, cars and other items that tend to make us show vanity because none of these things God will allow us in his kingdom. My grandmother use to always say being vanity is never wise it is something that God despise because he should always be your priority if you desire to be with him in Glory! • 3. John Knowles A Separate Peace A Separate Peace Final Paper The setting of A Separate Peace by John Knowles plays a large role in the plot of the story. The most important parts of the novel take place at the Devon School. Another thing that makes Devon so important is that it s where the main characters live. As I mentioned before, Devon is where most of the important parts of the novel take place and it s where the main characters live, that is why Devon is so significant. The time period was also very important; the novel takes place during World War II and Devon is a school where boys are trained to be soldiers. The war is used as a symbol; it represents depression, anger, and the end of childhood. The Devon School can change based on the season. During the summer session, Devon is a peaceful place and shows the innocence of childhood and friendship. When the winter session arrives the peaceful atmosphere disappears and the school becomes gloomy, tense, and a more hostile place as the boys grow up. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of trying to come up with a story that he couldn t relate to, he based it around a real life experience which made the novel more realistic. The more realistic he could make the story, the more people would like it because then the readers could feel like these characters are real and could relate to them. Beginning with the overthrow of King Idris in 1969 and the 42 year reign of dictator Muammar Gaddafi, Libya has been anything but a stable country. The controversial dictatorship of Gaddafi, his overthrowing in 2011, and the subsequent reign of terror by numerous militant groups that hold Benghazi in their grip to this day have contributed to numerous deaths (Maslin, 2016) and thousands displaced. Another aspect of Benghazi s fight for survival stems from the relatively recent introduction of constant fresh water. In 1953, while searching for oil, Gaddafi discovered an ancient underground aquifer that since has been the #1 source of fresh water for Libya (Borrell, 1986). With waging war causing power outages and infrastructure at risk of being bombed, this water source, called fossil water, is unreliable as ever (Hrimark, 2011) Amidst an unstable government, ISIS s reign of terror and an unreliable source of water, Benghazi is at risk of losing itself as a civilization. On September 1,1969 Muammar Gaddafi, leader of the Revolutionary Command Council, overthrew King Idris and took control of Libyan government. The wilderness is the place where all the characters escape the rigorous rules and regulations of the society in which they were created to protect. For Hester and Pearl, the wilderness, especially the forest is the place where the truth is set free and their sin is just a measly letter A. For Huck and Jim, the same outcome happens in the wilderness; Huck finds out the worth of Jim. Sadly, as consumers, we have forgotten what Thanksgiving is really all about. Marketing businesses have gone overboard brainwashing consumers with advertisements pumping them up to shop on Black Friday and the days that follow. The insanity of the consumers showing up hours before the store even opens or sales even began made me step back and wonder if it is really worth the few bucks of savings. I have seen consumers rushing to be the first in line and closest to the pallets and racks of the items still covered up. It is crazy people actually start taking the boxes apart to look what inside while waiting for the sale time to start. I do not recommend bringing your kids to shop, because consumers can be rude and very pushy. Also, some stores even announce specials that are only advertised in the store during the Black Friday sale times. All these things seem to just send consumers into and even bigger frenzy. Leonard argues that it is time to take back Thanksgiving. He has many thoughts and points to the insanity that Black Friday shopping brings. • 11. Theme Of Love In City Lights I. The one theme that connects all the films we have watched in this class is an overall theme of love this love presents itself in many different ways. In City Lights, the love between The tramp and the blind girl, in Central Station it is the love between two strangers, Dora and Josue, The Namesake has the love in an arranged marriage, Children of Heaven, the love between a brother and sister, and The Kite Runner has love between two best friends that transcends the generations. All of these movies have very different sets of characters, plots, settings, and cultures but the one theme connecting them all is love. This love presents itself in many different ways, but the love is present all the same. City Lights by Charlie Chaplin took place right here in the United States and started off the semester with a traditional view of love as a culture we often view falling in love with someone as the ideal what everyone wants. We especially want someone to love us for who we are, not the money or things that we have. In City Lights, the Tramp inadvertently tricks the blind girl into thinking that he has a lot of money. However despite this deception, he loves her, he wants to do what is best for her, even if it gets him in trouble or sends her away from him. He tries working hard to get her what she needs a cure for her blindness. Working hard does not work out for him, and he goes to great lengths to get the money for her, including the boxing match and asking the millionaire for help. He does this because he loves her deeply and he wants what is best for her. The movie ends with her being able to see and still accepting him despite the fact that he is not a millionaire. This film portrays the great American love story putting the other person first, and loving them despite their circumstances. Central Station from Brazil by Walter Salles depicts a different kind of love. This movie could have been about Josue, and the love with his mother or his brothers at the end when he finds them instead it is about the love between him and Dora, an old, sad woman with no relation to him. Throughout the film, Dora always tries to do what she thinks is best for Josue. It is misguided at first, when she sells him to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book starts with the author talking about the Huls and Gardar Farm, and how even though they were thousands of miles apart, they had many similar strengths which made them the superior farm in the area. The author then reveals that the Huls farm was a growing farm in the modern U.S. and the Gardar Farm was a Norse farm in greenland that was abandoned over 500 years ago. For a role of a third factor, climate change, we also have no evidence at present, though it may emerge in the future. That leaves us with just two main sets of factors behind Easter s collapse: human environmental impacts, especially deforestation and destruction of bird populations; and the political, social, and religious factors behind the impacts, such as the impossibility of emigration as an escape valve because of Easter s isolation, a focus on statue construction for reasons already discussed, and competition between clans and chiefs driving the erection of bigger statues requiring more wood, rope, and food. Although it is believed to have first been used in the sixteenth century, this was the first time that there was recorded documentation of someone experiencing the pidgin. The pidgin was created between the Basque people of Spain and France and the American Indian people of North America. The pidgin is believed to be composed from a lot of Basque words and influence and the different languages the native people spoke. The native people spoke variations of the Algonquian language, and their influence is also seen in the pidgin. The pidgin was mostly spoken between the Basque people and the native people, although the native people also used it when speaking to visiting Frenchmen. The Basque people were mostly seafarers and sheepherders, while the native people were mostly hunters and farmers. When these the two groups met it was usually to conduct trade of some sort. The Basque American Indian pidgin was a pidgin used to help the Basque people and the native people to communicate. Before going into the linguistic portion of the analysis, we need to talk about the pidgin itself and how it came to be. That is; what the superstrate and the substrate of the pidgin are. The lack of political development in Uganda since independence from Britain in 1962 has hindered economic development and it was not until recent political stability that Uganda has been able to experience any sort of economic development. To understand the political development in Uganda, it is important to start shortly before 1962 to examine the political atmosphere of independence. Under the colonial system, Uganda was a protectorate, meaning that land rights of Africans were respected, despite the commonplace of forced labor and high taxes. In 1961 Uganda was granted self rule before gaining full independence in 1962. With the granting of self rule, three major political parties formed, the Uganda People s Congress (UPC), the Democratic Party (DP) and the Kabaka Yekka (KY). The main platform of the UPC was nationalist and the party strived to unite all Ugandans despite ethnic differences. The KY was mainly an ethnic party consisting of the Baganda people who were the most favored under British rule. • 21. The Idea Of The Self-Made Man By Pamela Laid I found Pamela Laird s essay very interesting, and while I ve never subscribed to the idea of a self made man , I never considered how the notion could be harmful. The concept of the self made man states that most people can get where they want to be with hard work and a good entrepreneurial spirit. This idea exemplifies the idea of the American Dream, and creates the illusion of an America where anyone, regardless of ethnicity, gender, or economic background could become the next Steve Jobs or Andrew Carnegie. Laird argues that self made success can, at least in part, be attributed to an economic, political or social advantage. She makes an excellent argument on how individualism can harm both the individual and the collective. The idea of the self made man can first be seen during the Protestant Reformation, where people begin to drift away from the idea that they aren t in control of their circumstances, which were instead dependent on God. Benjamin Franklin was a very popular model of self made success which inspires entrepreneurs even today. Thomas Mellon, the founder of the Mellon Bank, looked up to Franklin for his ambition and aimed to amass wealth from Franklin s ideas of self improvement. However, Franklin spoke about self improvement for the purpose of community and individual growth, and not for material gain. Franklin, along with United States Representative Alney McLean, used the idea of the self made man to encourage people to better themselves, gain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Why Was the Weimar Republic in Germany Able to Survive the... After the First World War ended in 1918, Germany was in a chaos. Although the Allies offered peace, they demanded a democratic government in Germany. The Kaiser abdicated the throne while Ebert formed the Weimar Republic and established the constitution in 1919. However the establishment of this government was unstable with opposition from both left and right wings. Even more, the German Parliament (Reichstag) relied on the cooperation of the coalitions of governments which resulted in political weakness of this new democratic system because these coalitions often broke up. Yet, the Weimar Republic was still able to survive through these years until 1929 as it was relatively stable before the Wall Street Crash. However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Discontent towards the government increased as Ebert was the one to blame. Germany was even said to be stab at the back by Ebert. At this stage, the Weimar Republic was so weak and without the support from its people. However, the Ruhr Crisis happened in 1923 restored some support from the people to the government as the government called off a passive resistance to France s occupation in the Ruhr. This was one of the reasons that the government was able to survive in these years. However, the strike in the Ruhr Crisis had heavily affected its industry. The consequence of the strike was inflation. Germany had no goods to trade so it couldn t repay the debt. Therefore, the government printed more money causing hyperinflation. Poor people suffered but middle classes suffered the most. This is an extremely unstable and hard time for Germany. Then, the new Chancellor Stresemann resolved these problems. Several forms of reinforcement can be utilized to increase desired behavior, such as use of computers, edibles, toys, stickers, and verbal praises depending on what s motivating for the child. The study evaluated the training in school setting, but did not generalize skills to different settings. Further research is needed to determine the efficacy of well trained staff in delivering DTT to children with ASD. DTT is an evidence based practice, and research has shown that it can help in teaching language skills and maximizing learning when instruction is delivered with consistency and by trained staff. Discrete trial training is more effective in one on one instruction while direct instruction can be delivered in small group format. Direct instruction (DI) intervention can be used with children with autism to develop their language skills. In comparing discrete trial instruction to direct instruction, Flores Ganz (2014) studied effectiveness of both DI and DTT in a summer school program where thirteen students with autism attended for four weeks and received special education services. They found that the students in the DI group performed slightly better than their peers in the DTT group with moderate difference in effect on student learning for the DI group (p.201). ... However, a confidential sources says the ANLF has nothing to do with the shooting. Also, he was urged to identify his sources. Hirsch refused to do both. Whether or not the prosecuting office can demand Hirsch to turn over any information depends on court precedents and current laws. In Branzburg v. This means journalists and other members of the press cannot use freedom of speech as a defense in order to not testify. This includes if a source was meant to be confidential. • 32. Persuasive Speech On School Lunches A healthy, delicious, lunch is what many schools strive for, however many don t follow suit in the best way possible. I am writing to you, Mr. Dawson, to address the fact that Ronald E. McNair High School fails to provide their students with wholesome meals. As you may know, the Lodi Unified School District has food services that promotes and brings attention to our freshly prepared school meals made from California grown products (School Nutrition And Fitness). To promote even healthier eating, McNair actively participates in the USDA case study, inviting mobile carts to bring lunch closer to the students (School Nutrition And Fitness). Even with additional efforts put forth, students still find the lunches unappetizing (due to low grade food quality) and prefer to eat other alternatives. According to Alice Waters and Katrina Heron, authors of No lunch left behind an article published in The New York Times on February 19, 2009, the National School Lunch Program is a poor investment. The authors informed the public that of $9 billion, very little actually goes into the food. They demand fresh alternatives provided by local farmers and refine school equipment, to instead prepare fresh nutritious meals for the school. Although we may produce some meals at the school, there are still ways to improve the equipment to better serve the students. Education about sensible eating is also recommended, as it will teach students a nourishing lifestyle outside of school. With a well constructed plan that upgrades the quality of the food and food education, it will surely make our school healthier! Waters and Heron do have a point. Creating our own fresh lunches at the school have perks, but what about food options? A better idea would be to advance on vegetarian options that cater more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, soy foods, and more dairy products. Creating new and exciting options will attract more students to lunch and they may even start to find the lunch appetizing. On September 14, 2017, an ERWC class taught by Edward Cruz conducted an eleven question survey about eating habits and preferences at McNair. The survey questioned the appeal of school lunches and found that only 31% of students found the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In doing so, they became incredibly guilt stricken, proving that no sin goes unpunished and showcasing the ultimate power of guilt. In Act I Lady Macbeth says that, A little water clears us of this deed (II, II, 67) right after she and Macbeth carried out the murder of King Duncan. What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account? yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him (V, I, 25 29). Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not, and yet I see thee still. Or art thou not, fatal vision, sensible to feeling as to sight? Or art thou but a dagger of the mind, a false creation, proceeding from the heat oppressed brain? I see thee yet, in form as palpable as this which now I draw (II, I, 33 43). It is important that unit action is free of detriment to the company s reputation as a whole. 2 There should also be a certain degree of expert functions performed by a competent staff. It would benefit a company more to have organizational units that focused on specific functions, instead of having each units employees and equipment perform multiple tasks. The reason is due to cost; it can become expensive to re equip a machine to shift from performing one function to performing another.1 Measuring Performance In order for a decentralized organization to be successful, it must be accommodating and led by proposals, values, and objectives that are not only steady but are relevant to long term practice. 1 According to a study done by McKinsey and Co. a successful decentralized company is simple in form and low on staff. Countless studies have been conducted by independent universities and groups supporting this ideology. Statistics from these institutions have often brought women to the Civil Rights forefront, during a time period when women s suffrage was in its second wave. Advocacy for this cause has come in the form of much more than field studies and collected research. Lyndon Johnson s social reform was greatly successful in providing equality for women through new legislation and his support of the National Organization for Women. A 13th century theologian, said that woman was created to be man s helpmeet, but her unique role is in conception . . . since for other purposes men would be better assisted by other men. (Women 1) Even during the 1960 s, the antiquated idea that a woman was inferior to a man was widely accepted. It wasn t until approximately 40 years prior to the 1960 s that woman acquired freedom and mobility thanks to the automobile industry. Legislation was also evolving as a whole. It was becoming more and more ambitious, and achieved to solve issues in the country very quickly. Prior to Lyndon Johnson s presidency was that of John F. Kennedy. President Kennedy proposed the most ambitious plan since the New Deal, entitled the New Frontier . The New Frontier targeted social injustices in the United States, dealing with racism and sexism. Some hypothesize that this legislation influenced President Johnson to further pursue social issues that plagued the United States. Through pursuing these issues, Lyndon Johnson would close the widening gap between men and women. President Johnson was extremely driven to push for more equal rights. He was inspired by the creation of the Equal Pay Act of 1963. Prior to this act, men and women who were performing the same jobs were not earning equal wages. The argument was that men ... Investigate how the Concentration of Sucrose Solution affects the Mass of the Potato Chip Aim To find out how the concentration of sucrose solution affects the mass of the potato chip left in the solution for one day. Water Potential: The water potential of a solution is a measure of whether it is likely to lose or gain water molecules from another solution. A dilute solution, with its high proportion of free water molecules, is said to have higher water potential than a concentrated solution, because water will flow from the dilute to the concentrated solution (from a high potential to a low potential). Pure water has the highest possible water potential because water molecules will flow from pure water to any other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A low concentration of sucrose in ratio to water will make the potato increase in length and mass. I predict that when the sucrose concentration is low the potato chip will gain mass. This is because there will be a higher water concentration in the potato chip so water will go into the potato from the solution. I predict that when there is a high concentration of sucrose the potato will lose mass. This is because there is a higher concentration of sucrose solution compared to that in the potato chip so water from the potato will go into the solution to even it out. In my experiment I will have a test tube with a potato chip in. The outside wall of the potato chip is selectively permeable so it lets water pass through it but not bigger molecules such as sucrose. In the test tubes I will put different concentrations of sucrose solution When the concentration of the solution is lower than that in the potato, water will pass through the selectively permeable wall into the potato. The mass of the potato chip increases. RESULTS: Concentration Initial mass Final mass Change in mass % change 0 0.91 0.96 0.05 5.50 0.1 0.92 0.94 0.02 2.17 0.2 1.14 0.83 ... • 47. Social Classes In The United States It is said that the United States is made up of around six different social classes, however the three main classes are better known as the Upper, Middle, and Lower class. The upper class makes up roughly 1% of the United States population. This class is best known as the class of wealth. This wealth is referred to as old (inherited) money. Individuals within the upper class are often known by and for their family name and/or wealth. Examples being the Rockefellers and the Kennedys. Review Of Lemony Snicket s The Bad Beginning I ve read many books in my life that touched me but I ve never read a book that changed me as much as the book The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket.. The book starts, of course, with a bad beginning. The main characters, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire lose their parents in a fire. They are sent to live with a really distant relative named Count Olaf. He is very cruel and makes the orphans do many hard chores. But one day he offers the orphans to join him in a play about marriage. Count Olaf would be the groom and Violet would be the bride. I say that because I felt bad for the orphans but they helped me understand that not every relative will be kind. Like Count Olaf. Plus, if someone is mean in the beginning and then they suddenly become nice, they probably mean more harm than good. Another thing I realized was that my life can turn around at any moment. Just like the Baudelaires. Second, now I see myself as a totally different person. I am more of an open person now. I like to share my thoughts and how I feel about things. If the Baudelaires had shared their thoughts about staying with Count Olaf, and the way he treated them earlier they probably would have suffered less. This book also helped me think about others more. If I ever see anyone suffering as much the orphans I will totally speak up. Last, this book changed the way I see the world. Now I understand that on any average day anything as bad as losing my home and my parents could happen. Throughout the novel, Triton faces certain hardships, but quickly learns to overcome them as he begins to develop a sense of responsibility and independence within the household. Mr Salgado becomes the centre of Triton s world and he is someone that Triton looks up to and wants to become. However, everything changes when Miss Nili becomes the central aspect of Mr Salgado s life and changes the relationships within the household, allowing Triton to see things from a new perspective. Throughout the novel we see how Triton plays the role of an Outsider as well as Insider within the home and how he starts becoming very observant with regards to Miss Nili. At a later stage in the novel, Triton even suggests that they should open up a restaurant in London. This indicates that he does not want to let go of the relationship he has with Mr Salgado.
