Juvenile Delinquency
Introduction Can we as a society truly reduce the rate of juvenile crime and violence? Throughout all
time there has been delinquency. It may not have had the delinquency label, but it still existed.
Juvenile crime is mentioned as far back as ancient Sumeria and Hammurabi, where laws concerning
juvenile offenders first appear in written form (Rice, 1995, ¶ 3). To this day juvenile delinquency is
looked upon as one of the most imperative concerns in crime. A number of studies have been
performed concerning delinquency. Countless developments and strategies have presented the ... Show

The classical theory focuses on free will. Most classical theories both old and new, make certain basic
assumptions (Schmalleger, 2009, p. 81). For example, it is believed humans have the ability to make
their own choices, and that pain as well as pleasure is the two key aspects of human behavior.
Classical scholars believe preventing crime is probable with quick and assured penalties. However, to
be effective, the punishment must outweigh the satisfaction obtained from the criminal conduct
(Schmalleger, 2009). Biological theories suggest an individual s behavior is genetically based, and that
criminal behavior may perhaps be passed on from generation to generation. They believe it possible to
identify criminals through genetic makeup. Biological theorists consider treatment to be ineffective.
However, it is thought aggression could be usefully redirected (Schmalleger, 2009). Psychobiological
theorist feel that a person s DNA, environmental contaminates, nutrition, hormones, physical trauma,
and body chemistry play important and interwoven roles in producing human cognition, feeling, and
behavior including crime (Schmalleger, 2009, p.80). These theorists feel that by adjusting an
individual s chemical makeup, the potential for crime would be greatly reduced. However,
psychological theories suggest that

Vaporizing Marijuana Research Paper
Marijuana: Just a plant
What proves that marijuana is the threat the media, and government depict it to be towards society?
Should it be considered a threat, or is it simply a plant that aids the distressed? Marijuana has
positively benefited the lives of many, so considering it harmful without being properly informed is
unreasonable. Throughout the years a remarkable amount of research has been done to determine the
risk and effects of marijuana. From the majority of research, it was determined marijuana is safe.
Marijuana is safe to smoke because the dangers are exaggerated, research has proven it has many
positive effects on the body, and it s rarely harmful to health. Marijuana shouldn t be looked at as a

Hydrogen Ions Within A Patients Blood
Acidosis is a condition when the body has too much acid circulating in the body causing the pH of the
body to become too acidic (Wisse, 2013). This will then cause the acid/base balance to tip as the acid
is building up and the base is lost. Since pH is measured on a scale of 0 to 10 and normal blood pH is
kept between 7.35 7.45, minute deviations can cause disruptions throughout many different systems of
the body (McAuley, 1993). A decrease below the recommended 7.35 means that there are too many
hydrogen ions within a patients blood and they cannot be absorbed by the body. PCO2 is the
measurement of partial pressure of carbon dioxide dissolved in arterial blood and helps us understand
how much CO2 gas is floating in the blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When this happens there is a low plasma bicarbonate (HCO3 ) concentration due to the loss of storage
or renal tubular wasting and an increase in chloride concentration. Respiratory acidosis on the other
hand develops when a patient has an increased amount of carbon dioxide that cannot be expelled
through regular breathing (Wisse, 2013). Within the classification of metabolic acidosis there are
several sub classifications: Diabetic acidosis, Lactic acidosis, hyperchloremic acidosis and a number
of other contributing causes such as severe dehydration, poisoning: by aspirin, ethylene glycol or
methanol or renal disease/failure (Wisse, 2013).
Diabetic acidosis is due to an increased amount of ketones in the bodies of those suffering from
uncontrolled diabetes. Diabetics rely upon insulin as fuel to run the body and when the body is unable
to use glucose it uses fat. Ketones are the waste that is left after fat is broken down for fuel, they are
acid and when they build up in a diabetic s blood and eventually urine, their kidney s are unable to
dispel it as fast as it is being used (Wisse, 2013). Since ketones are acidic any impairment in removal
of the ketones or continued uncontrollable diabetes will cause the sudden change that could cause life
threatening complications and severe illness.
Lactic acidosis is due to, as

Supply Side Economics Will Benefit the Economy Essay...
Supply Side economics and policies would best benefit the economy in the case of a recession next
year.
Supply side policies are made of several important points to regulate the economy. Supply side
policies consist of stimulating the economy by production, cutting taxes, and limiting government
regulations to increase incentives for businesses and individuals. Businesses then would invest more
and expand to create jobs for people who would save and spend more money. Thus, increased
investment and productivity would lead to increased output in the economy. With this increased output
the economy grows and unemployment goes down. Yet, this would not be the only policy to bring the
economy out of a recession.
A monetary policy must be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with moral suasion, persuasion to get consumers to buy, and open market operations, the
buying and selling of government securities in financial markets, the easy money policy can only help
supply side economics in it s route to ending a recession and gaining economic stability. All of these
policies combined, supply side, easy money policy, open market operation, and moral persuasion, can
all have an impact on important issues. Some of these issues are employment, international trade, and
inflation.
Employment may be greatly effected by a huge surge in supply that would cause businesses to hire
more workers to meet the need of this great surge in supply and production. This surge in new
employment would then put money in the pockets of consumers to buy products and create a demand.
International trade can be greatly affected by supply side policies. Businesses are more likely to export
their goods if the economy is good and they have the resources to do so. Also businesses may import
resources to produce their goods or services.
This in the long run could benefit other countries tremendously. It is even possible to cause the same
effects of the supply side policies in the US to occur in the other countries, like an increase in
employment. Unfortunately, there are limitations on supply side policies. In the case of the Laffer
Curve for the years 1981 through 1989, total tax collections when adjusted for inflation, actually
declined after 1981 tax

1. Three things I learned from Cameron Russell s TED Talk is that looks are deceiving, people still
judge based on someone s skin color or beauty, and how even if someone looks like the most
confident, pretty, rich, or happy person out there, that may not always the case. Additionally, from the
speaker s five main points, the first main point, how do you become a model? illustrates being named
a model is something very difficult to become because today s society is very judgmental. However,
from Cameron s second main point, can I be a model when I grow up? explains that becoming a
model is like winning the lottery, very rare and hard to get. From the presenter s third main point, do
they retouch all the photos? explains that what everyone sees on TV, magazines, or social media are
not real and that they are all retouched. The fourth main point that Russell goes over, do you get free
stuff? talks about how being or looking a specific way has its advantages that others would not get

Comparing Mary Shelley s Frankenstein and Kenneth Branagh s Frankenstein
Most Americans have some idea of who Frankenstein is, as a result of the many Frankenstein movies.
Contrary to popular belief Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is a scientist, not a monster. The monster is not
the inarticulate, rage driven criminal depicted in the 1994 film version of the novel. Shelley s original
Frankenstein was misrepresented by this Kenneth branagh film, most likely to send a different
message to the movie audience than Shelley s novel shows to its readers. The conflicting messages of

. . . I was nourished with high thoughts of honor and devotion. (154) He did not start out as an evil
being, but rather was good by nature and exposed early in his life to good things. (Allen, g.s)
Frankenstein s and society s rejection of the monster, however, drove him to an uneven passionate
pursuit for a companion. He forced Frankenstein to create a female monster, and he provided
motivation by killing Frankenstein s loved ones and threatening to kill more of them. The monster
recalls in this final scene of Shelley s novel how his desire drove him to evil. . . . do you think that I
was then dead to agony and remorse? He . . . suffered not more in the consummation of the deed; oh!
Not the ten thousandth portion of the anguish that was mine during the lingering detail of its
execution. A frightful selfishness hurried me on. . . . (153) At that point in the novel, the monster has
changed from good in nature to evil in nature. His own desires are more important to him than the
well being of others and he is willing to commit murder in order ensure the fulfillment of his desire.
The second change the monster makes is becoming totally motivated by revenge. He becomes
completely evil, not looking for a companion but only the unhappiness and suffering of Frankenstein,
his creator. ... I was the slave, not the master of an impulse, which I detested, yet could not disobey. ...

Gelatin cryogel sheets (5%) were synthesized using...
Gelatin cryogel sheets (5%) were synthesized using glutaraldehyde as the cross linker. The aldehyde
groups of glutaraldehyde form covalent imine bonds with amino groups of gelatin. Initially different
concentrations of gelatin were used (4%, 5%, 6% and 8% respectively). On physical examination of
the cryogels produced with these concentrations, it was observed that at higher concentration of
gelatin polymer (8%) the rate of polymerization was very fast and hence cryogel sheets formed were
not proper. As the percentage of gelatin was increased the amount of cross linker required was low i.e.,
the amount of cross linker required decreases with increase in monomer concentration. Increase in
polymer concentration also leads to less elasticity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Decrease in glutaraldehyde cross linker on increasing the polymer precursor might be happening due
to the increased probability of colliding polymers and cross linking agent in this unfrozen liquid
microphase where all chemical reactions take place. More probability of colliding might be decreasing
the amount of glutaraldehyde required to crosslink polymers for gel synthesis. It was also observed
that if the amount of glutaraldehyde used was more than the optimum concentrations (Table 1.1), the
gel formed lack porous network and were tough and brittle. When the glutaraldehyde concentration
was reduced and kept lower than the optimized one, the gels were weak in mechanical strength. This
observation suggests that there seems to be some competition between the nucleation process which
takes place in frozen regions and gelation process which takes place in unfrozen liquid microphase.
When the concentration of glutaraldehyde was lower than optimum, nucleation process dominates the
gelation process and the gels formed were weak due to large pores and less polymer wall formation by
cross linking of polymers. When glutaraldehyde quantity was taken more than optimum, gelation
dominates the nucleation process and the gels formed were without any pores and were brittle. Figure
1.1A shows the digital images of optimized gelatin sheets. Figure 1.1B and 1.1C shows that at an
optimized polymer and cross linker ratio

Essay On The Causes Of Obesity In America
American s are suffering from an epidemic today called obesity. Contributors to the obesity problem
are overly large portions of food served to Americans. Also, a lack of physical activity adds to obesity,
spending hours in front of a television or computer. Advertisements contribute to Americans over
weight problems by pushing high calorie high fat foods. Major health problems caused by obesity are
high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.
First, obesity can cause high blood pressure in Americans. Overweight individuals are more likely to
develop high blood pressure than individuals with average weight. The added fat tissue in the body
creates a need for additional blood to circulate through the body. As a result, of this added blood flow
there is extra pressure on the artery walls of the heart. With this higher pressure on the artery walls a
person s blood pressure rises. Since, there is increased pressure on the heart it causes the heart to grow
larger. When the heart grows larger, it loses some of its ability to squeeze blood through the heart
valves. So, this extra weight impedes the body s ability to transport blood through the blood vessels. ...

Overweight people can have a buildup of plaque inside the coronary arteries that can lead to heart
disease. In effect, this buildup of plaque can lead to high cholesterol. High cholesterol will narrow the
arteries and reduce blood flow that can cause chest pain. Also, narrowed arteries can form blood clots
that lead to heart diseases. A heart attack can happen when the body cannot pump enough blood to
supply the body in an obese individual. Since, heart attacks, strokes or even death can be the results of
a person suffering from obesity. Being overweight can cause the heart valves to malfunction. As a
result, this malfunction does not allow the valves to close completely and can lead to heart failure. An
individual that is obese is at a higher risk of heart

The first sentence of Audie Murphy s biography reads, Audie Leon Murphy was a legend in his own

Rene Descartes was born on March 31, 1596 in La Haye Touraine, France. Descartes was considered a
jack of all trades , making major contributions to the areas of anatomy, cognitive science, optics,
mathematics and philosophy. He has been referred to as the father of modern rationalism, soldier of
fortune, scholar, pilgrim, traveler, and a firm adherent of the Roman Catholic faith. He was educated
at the Jesuit college of La Fleche in Anjou. He entered the college at the age of eight years, just a few

Europe seeing parts of Hungary, Germany, Italy, and France. During his travels to Paris he made
contact with Mersenne. This was an important contact because it kept him in touch with the scientific
world for many years. In late 1628 he gave a speech in Paris in which he argued that the sciences must
be founded on certainty. He was encouraged by Cardinal Pierre de Berulle to develop his own
philosophical system. By 1628 Descartes tired of all the traveling and decided to settle down. He gave
much thought to choosing a country that suited his nature and decided on Holland. He felt Holland
would offer him seclusion and more intellectual freedom. Soon after he settled in Holland Descartes
began work on his first major treatise on physics, Le Monde, ou Traite de la Lumiere. This work was
near completion when he received the news that Galileo was condemned to house arrest. He decided
not to risk publication. His work, the world s first extended essay on physiological psychology, was

encouraged him to publish his ideas. Although he was adamant about not publishing Le Monde, he did

Life and Legacy of Marie Antoinette Essay
Marie Antoinette Josèphe Jeanne de Habsbourg Lorraine was born in the mid eighteenth century as an
archduchess and princess, to Maria Teresa, the Austrian Empress, at the very apex of the European
hierarchal pyramid. She was an essential part to the oldest royal European house, as it became known
that her sole duty in life was to unite the two great powers and long term enemies of Austria Hungary
and France by marriage. She was brutally overthrown by her own starving people and portrayed to the
world as a villain and abuser of power, whereas sympathy for the young queen should be shown.

Much then was kept from the royals, including the state of the country s citizens in 1765 when the
Americans required more troops to fight for their independence against the British (Zweig, 12). Louis
XVI sent them at the counsel of his most trusted advisors, thinking it was heroic, when others only
cared that his action would send a strong message to Britain. Sending the troops would leave France in
worse economic condition than ever and to the eventual downfall of the monarchy (Zweig, 51).
Underground literature began to surface in 1785 that included portrayals of the Queen in newspaper
articles, cartoons and handouts ( Marie Antoinette: Story of a Queen through Primary Sources ). After
giving birth to two children, a final Dauphin of France, Marie was noticeably happier and more frugal
( The Grand Dauphin ). She sought to prove that she could be a mother, like any other, but according

The Subatomic World of Quantum Mechanics
Quantum Mechanics
The Quantum Mechanics are weird, yet incredibly powerful theory of the subatomic world, in which
everyday concepts to do with the forces and motion are seen in a different perspective, as they do not
longer apply in the same way. This calls for a new type of mechanics based on what scientists call
quantum rules.
Quantum mechanics are a very complicated matter that scientists don t fully understand yet; they are
in charge of studying the smallest faces of our world. The idea of quantum mechanics was developed
in the 20th century by a German physicist Max Planck who introduced his constant, called Plank´s
Constant (h=6.62606957×10 34 m2 kg/s), which is used to determinate the energy of a photon. When
E=hv (v=frequency). Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr, Paul Dirac and Werner Heisenberg later extended
the theory in the 1920s.
Trying to explain quantum mechanics is like trying to explain how the universe was formed. There are
different doctrines but again, none of them is completely certain.
Although it was a tremendous success to the researchers no one really knows how or why it works. It
makes prediction in the microscopic world that go completely against our common sense. For example
quantum mechanics state that an atom can be in more than 1 place at the same time until we look at it,
since then we force it to make a choice on where he is. Also assures that an atom is neither a particle
nor a wave, it is both and neither at the same time. All these weird

outcomes when a child does decide to confine in his parents about his/her sexuality. There have been
studies done in order to identify the adolscents who idenfiy as LGBTQ. One example of a specific
study conducted was by Casey Field Office Mental Health (CFOMH). This organization set out with a
few questions for a group of foster youth. The study interviewed 188 adolescents ages 14 to 17 who
were receiving foster care services from Casey Family Programs in 2006. About 10 children of the
group of 188 youths identified as LGBQ. This study includes both the experiences of the LGBTQ
youth groups as well as their non LGBTQ counterparts. The results of this study concluded that out of
the 10 students who identify as LGBTQ all felt as though they were not being given the help they
needed. They felt marginalized. Another more recent study, the Los Angeles Foster Youth Study

Major Reasons For The Fall Of The Roman Empire
The major reason for the fall of the Western Roman Empire was due to the over dependence of
slavery. Slavery played an important role in Ancient Rome and was heavily relied on to maintain its
social, political and economic hold on its Empire that expanded on the Mediterranean area and beyond
( History The Fall of the Roman Republic, 2011). Slavery was first introduced as early as the third
century BC, with a lot of its history traced back to the legendary Romulus the founder of Rome,
giving Roman fathers the right to sell their own children into slavery ( Slaves Freeman, 2006). As time
passed and Rome became a force to be reckoned with, the practice of slavery kept growing with the
expansion of the Roman state through victories of the war. The ownership of slaves became
omnipresent throughout Rome from the Second Punic War (218 201 BCE) to the 4th century CE, and
according to records, an enormous slave trade resulted from the collapse of the Seleucid Empire (100
63 BCE) (Burks, 2008). With several military victories, conquests, and expansions, slavery grew at an
incredible rate throughout the state. With conquest came money and with money came more slaves.
According to records, in 225 B.C., there were an estimated 600,000 slaves in Roman Italy, but only
194 years later that number grew to approximately two million (Burks, 2008). In the Roman state,
slaves worked everywhere. They were used for domestic services, agricultural labor, and gladiator
fighting. Educated

Parathyroid Carcinoma Research Paper
Abstract
Parathyroid carcinoma is a rare form of endocrine malignancy accounting for only a small minority of
cancer cases. Due to the rarity of this cancer, there are no generalized guidelines for its management;
however, surgery remains to be the mainstay therapy. The purpose of this article is to review and
summarize the available literature on parathyroid carcinoma, while discussing proposed staging
systems and the role of available adjuvant therapies.

Introduction
Parathyroid carcinoma is a rare endocrine malignancy, accounting for an estimated 0.005% of all
cancers [1], [2], [3], [4], [5] and [6]. This entity was first described by the Swiss surgeon Fritz De

Nevertheless, it should be assumed that the postoperative follow up for patients with parathyroid
carcinomas should be more frequent than for those with adenomas. Recurrence is generally indicated
by elevated calcium and PTH levels [14] and [76]. After laboratory findings indicate recurrence, a
thorough imaging work up should be performed with the intention of localizing the site of recurrence.
These imaging modalities include ultrasound, whole body sestamibi scan, whole body CT, MRI or
PET scan and bone scan. In case of inconclusive results from the above mentioned studies, more
invasive techniques may be utilized including arteriography or selective venous sampling with
measurement of PTH [2], [5], [7] and [60]. Furthermore, unlike in the primary diagnosis where FNA
is avoided, the use of FNA to diagnose recurrence of parathyroid carcinoma is utilized, and can help
differentiate between recurrent malignancy and scar tissue [21]. Once recurrent disease has been
localized, the best possible treatment is repeated surgical resection, due to lack of other effective
treatments. Re explorations may be very difficult due to dense scar tissue and lack of clear anatomical
planes

The Texaco Oil Crisis
After it creation in 1964 the Texaco oil rig has been wreaking havoc on the local community. Before
the oil crisis in 1973 the need for oil has still high and Texaco had found a place that could satisfy
some of that need (Zaitchik, 2014). Texaco as well as the prominent Gulf Oil began to work in the
Oriente region of Ecuador. However, it was not until 1972 that Texaco began to work in the Lago
Agrio Oil Field one year before the Oil Crisis. This drilling for oil continued until 1993 when Texaco
left after being accused of dumping toxic waste into the local water systems for 21 years (Amazon

This toxic waste was creating terminal cancer, birth defects in mothers who come in contact with the
waste and other disease and growth that kill people that had not been seen previously. It also ruined
the environment and killed off many endangered species in the area (Romero, Simon, 2011). Needless
to say the evidence was overwhelming and they lost the case and the 30,000 effected villagers as well
as the Ecuadorian government won. Chevron appealed the court with more evidence and they lost that
as well (Chevron Toxico, 2013). Chevron filed RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt
Organizations Act) against those who won the first case. They then went after the scientists who were
doing reports in the local areas. They told their funders that they were in on a little conspiracy in the
Amazon regions. The bargain was either loose funding or change the results; and the scientists chose
the latter. Chevron then went after the journalists who were documenting the spill and toxic waste.
With the RICO charges filed, all journalists were required to turn over all unused interview footage
which did not only make it extremely hard to interview those who were willing, but they also had to
be very careful with questions that were posed. Again using the RICO charges they forced all activists
to turn over years of emails, messages, letters, and records of any kind. (Chevron Toxico,

The Transformation Process That Interface Went Through
There are several phases in the transformation process that Interface went through. Considering that
Ray Anderson joined forces with three other business partners, one could assume that there would
definitely be cultural changes or differences, just to name a couple. Interface went through some
phases in cultural incrementalism. The first phase as discussed in our textbook is driven by the vision
of the leader, in this case Ray Anderson. The second phase is to integrate the new values into the
culture. This, however, is determined by what values have been successful for the business in order for
these values to move on to the third phase. With this in mind, the third phase then is when the value
becomes important. These are the three phases in cultural incrementalism. Furthermore, identity
dynamics also plays a huge role in a business. This basically means the business ponders on one very
important question, and the question is as crucial as answering it should be. The question is: who are
we? Members of a business learn culture through verbal and nonverbal behaviors. What is reflected is
then mirrored, and these values tend to stay with the business and helps them adjust behaviors if need
be.
Interface faced some pretty big challenges. Ray Anderson had a vision, and it was probably not the
same vision the other members had. Members of a business are not always in agreement, or they resist
certain things or changes. This was the case at Interface. Therefore, they had to

The Family Reunion By Jeredith Merrin
Estranged
The Family Reunion by Jeredith Merrin is a very jaunty poem. The author invites her readers into the
setting of her own family reunion. She relates to her personal situation and how one seems to forget
about their history. With the Unites States having a fifty percent divorce rate it make this poem very
real and relatable. Family Reunion is a poem about a modern day family that initially sets a calm
atmosphere; but quickly changes as she creates the reality of today s normal occurrence that divorce
has set in the world.
Merrin creates a theme of divorce and separation in each of the poems four lined stanzas. She begins
with the divorced mother and her divorcing/ daughter (1 2) setting the theme for the ongoing element
of separation.

Colonialism And Colonialism In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of...
Joseph Conrad Heart of Darkness is a very famous book which has been considered by my many a
key reading into the insight of colonialism. Heart of Darkness is a novel that focuses on colonialism of
Africans specifically the Congo and the effect that has on the indigenous people who inhabit it as well
the European colonists. The book focuses on a trip that the main character Marlow takes and what he
sees and how it changes him. The book is based off the author Conrad real life experience when he
traveled to the Congo and captained a ship that sailed down the Congo River. He would later become
ill during his travel and returned home. He then returned home and wrote the Heart of Darkness. Heart
of Darkness is a novel that looks at the true darkness of men in their quest for power and wealth. In
my paper, I will give a summary of Heart Darkness its relation to colonialism and some of its major
themes.
The story itself seems to be a dramatized retelling of some of the experiences that Conrad saw on his
own travels to the Congo. The story focuses on Marlow s job as captain of an ivory transporter ship. A
major catalyst of the book is Marlow sailing the Congo to meet a man named Kurtz an ivory
procurement worker who is said to be an idealistic but highly capable and smart man. Upon his travel
to the central station, Marlow is shocked upon seeing what the European traders have done to the
natives. Marlow discovers on his travels brutality and senseless overworking of the natives.

Genesis 37-38 Analysis
Genesis 37 38 This is the introduction of Jacob/Israel s favorite son, Joseph. Joseph has multiple
dreams, which allude to a future where he will rule over all of his family members. Joseph s brothers,
who already despise Joseph, become even angrier after he tells them about his dreams. Instead of
murdering Joseph as they initially wanted, they sell him to Ishmaelites at Judah s advice and Joseph is
taken prisoner to Egypt. Chapter 38 is a sudden shift to Judah and his family after Joseph is sold into
slavery. A woman named Tamar marries Judah s firstborn, but after he dies she marries the second son.
He dies as well and Judah sends her away, fearing for the life of his youngest son, but promises that
she will marry his youngest son once he is old enough. Judah does not give Tamar to his youngest son
once he is old enough to marry, so Tamar takes matters into her own hands by tricking Judah into
sleeping with her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Niditch focuses on the role of women in the period of the ancestral history and how it relates
specifically to the story of Judah and Tamar in Genesis 38. Niditch defines women basically as
objects, who do not have a rightful place in society if they are not married with children, or virgins in
their father s household. It is only after Tamar has children through Judah that she has claimed her
place in his family, which is contrary to what many modern day people would

Autism Is A Genetic Disorder
Although autism has spread globally, scientists continue conducting research to identify the precise
causes. More specifically, they are zeroing in on genetic mutations, brain chemistry abnormalities, and
maternal factors. One possible cause that can lead to autism is genetic mutations. First of all, families
studies indicate that children can affected by autism through heredity. It is true that children inherited
some characteristics from their parents. This is because a chromosome of a child produced by one
chromosome father and the other one from mother, which formed as DNA. As a matter of fact, if
parents have some genetic disease, they can pass it to the offspring through DNA. In same way,
because autism is a genetic disorder, it can pass down generation. In fact, according to Cowley (2000),
the prevalence of having autistic child is 5% of family who already has this disorder, which means
around 25 times the normal average. Clearly, inheriting autism through families result in increasing
the number of autistic children in the population. Another evidence shows that autism can caused by
inheriting genetic disorder is through conducting twins studies. There are two types of twins. First one
is identical twins, which formed by splitting one fertilized egg and then developed in two babies.
Therefore, they are sharing the same genetic codes. However, this different from fraternal twins who
do not share the same genetic information because they are formed by two

James Cameron And European Imperialism
The overall concept of imperialism was based upon utilizing military force to lead to an increase of
power and superiority. This idea was originated when attempting to portray one s nation to be superior
compared to the others and therefore, such actions were taken in order gain that economic power. In
the given poems as well as the movie, Avatar by James Cameron, it s clearly evident that European
imperialism is portrayed negatively with regard to the fact that external nations were invading the
native lands and influencing the indigenous people s religion. They had also imposed certain traditions
and customs upon the subjects which included a change in religion. In addition, European imperialism
was dishonorable because the general idea of invading one s land for any given reason doesn t justify
the impact created upon the natives. In Let Freedom Come , Davidson exclaims, I hear you
countryman done spoil to West Indies ... I think he want come spoil we country too ( Davidson lines 2
4). Also, African leaders were quite aware of the classic move played upon their nation in terms of
building a foundation of skills to control the trade routes which resulted in conquering certain parts of
land. Furthermore, Davidson emphasizes the fact that European imperialism lead to a shortage of
natural resources, trade conflicts, as well as a diversity in cultural superiority. For example, as seen the
movie, Avatar by James Cameron, Look. You re supposed to be winning the hearts

Civil War And Reconstruction Era
Cause of Exoduster Migration to the West
In the late nineteenth century, as the civil war and reconstruction era drew to an end, newly freed
African Americans were still faced with many problems. Slavery had taken up most if their lives and
now that they were free with no jobs. Most resorted in being farmers to former slave owners to make a
living. The whites, however, who did not agree with African Americans being free created black
codes. These were designed to force freed blacks to work on plantations. These codes also denied
blacks the right to purchase or even rent land. The Freedmen s Bureau was issued in an effort to bring
freed people to full citizenship. This would help with getting the African Americans jobs, houses,
education, land, and anything necessary to start their new lives. By 1879, Benjamin Pap Singleton, a
former slave from Tennessee, became known as the leader of the Exoduster Movement. Benjamin
Singleton urged blacks to leave the south to move westward. Kansas, at the time being a free state
became appealing to Singleton and he put advertisements up to show blacks what opportunities
awaited them in the west. Those who agreed with him and who moved west to Kansas called
themselves Exodusters. Some believed that this was their promise land. A small town by the name of
Nicodemus, Graham County, Kansas, was home to 75 Americans by the year 1876. When the Exodus
movement brought African Americans westward, the small town became known as the center

Ordovician Extinction Research Paper
Are we on the brink of a sixth mass extinction? Many say yes, but there is also hard evidence saying
no. Nonetheless, scientists can prove five mass extinctions in history. The first mass extinction
happened roughly around 445 million years ago. It was named the Ordovician Extinction. The species
affected were known as Graptolite, which are different types of sea creatures. Their demise on Earth
lasted around only one million years. Around sixty to seventy percent of the species disappeared, and
now the remaining species have evolved into something new. The extinction was likely because of a
short and dangerous ice age, or the formation of the Appalachian mountains. It was likely that glaciers
formed over the oceans and caused the sea levels to rapidly drop, killing the species.
The second mass extinction happened to sea creatures once again. Somewhere between 375 360
million years ago, fluctuations of the sea levels in the ocean caused a large portion of Earth s species
to disappear. Another cause would be the changes in climate change, asteroid strikes, or new land
plants. Some theories suggest that oxygen depletions in shallow waters caused the Devonian
Extinction. Other theories say that algae ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Hacked World Order By Adam Segal
Adam Segal s The Hacked World Order reveals many prevalent issues in today s technologically
centered society. Starting at Year Zero, June 2012 to June 2013, the battle over cyberspace witnessed
world changing cyberattacks. This was accomplished due to the fact that nearly 75% of the world s
population has easy access to a mobile phone, and the Internet connects nearly 40% of the total human
population, which is nearly 2.7 billion people. With that being said, cyberattacks are becoming a more
realistic form of terror.
The danger behind these attacks is
Year Zero began with the detection of the Stuxnet malware, allegedly developed by the United States,
who partnered with Israel. This malware was released in order to damage Iranian machines and mess
with Iran s best scientific minds. Stuxnet proved that the United States was willing to do whatever it
took to develop these forms of offensive capabilities which are needed to dominate the cyber
battlespace. This attack was used to send Iran s nuclear program back almost two years. I think that
what made Stuxnet dangerous was that it was nearly impossible to detect, developers had zero days to
fix or patch damage that had already been done. The computers used to transfer the malware were not
connected to the Internet, they jumped the air gap by allowing the malware to be transferred through
portable devices, leading to an even more traumatic cyberattack. I believe that the US knew the risks

However, the rise of the internet allowed for a new way for child pornography to flourish, with simple
websites being distributed to those who could see it from the safety of their own homes. However, as
the law matured and came to battle this, new ways to distribute the pornography were also invented, a
tit for tat war that always had each side claiming victories and losses. Though, now it seems that
newest feature on the internet to allow for child pornography to be distributed easily is the Deep Web.
This is a part of the World Wide Web that is not discoverable by means of standard search engines,
including password protected or dynamic pages and encrypted networks. It was created by the US

being undetected. Naturally, the argument for this paper is not if we should be allowing this, but how
strong we should be going against this. As such, the evidence will be given that total war should be
taken against these networks, to flush out the pedophiles on these sites, take them down permanently
and arrest the individuals who both create this smut and view it. As shown by Elise

Different Levels Of Assessments Have Been Selected
Three different levels of assessments have been selected to assess Tama in specific language domains.
These assessments identify skills that a child has or does not in particular areas of communication.
Information from the referral suggests that the semantic and pragmatic domains require investigation
of Tama s current language skills and whether they are typical for a child of 4 years 2 months.
Assessment Tools
MacArthur Bates Communicative Developmental Inventories (CDI) words and sentences is a level

information to supplement our direct clinical assessment (Paul, Norbury, 2012, p. 44). The report is

current and emerging behaviours and the focus of this assessment is on the semantic domain for
vocabulary size and sentence types because of the parental concerns about expressive language. In the
report there are standard instructions about the completion of each section.

The Undertaker is without a doubt the single most iconic figure in the history of professional
wrestling. A mixture of talent, time, and sheer dedication to craft and character has pushed him beyond
the ranks of Hulk Hogan and The Rock, and he will surely be remembered as the greatest of all time
whenever he decides to hang up his boots. Mark Calaway, the man behind the Undertaker character, is
an old school guy and has broken character only on rare occasions over the years. While that s great
news for those who believe kayfabe is a lost art, it means fans have not been able to get close to The
Undertaker in the way they have been able to get close to the likes of Shawn Michaels, The Rock, and
Stone Cold Steve Austin, who frequently appear on podcasts and talk shows to discuss their ... Show

After years of breathtaking bouts inside the ring, The Beast and The Deadman share an immense level
of respect for each other.
5. Triple H
The Undertaker and Triple H have had their problems over the years. Taker did not take kindly to the
infamous Curtain Call when Hunter, along with his fellow Kilq members, broke kayfabe to have a
pseudo emotional moment in the ring with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, who were leaving for WCW.
However, several years later, when Triple H was pushed to the main event, he began to win The
Deadman over. The pair had a series of stellar encounters and together they saw their contemporaries
drop off one by one. Eventually, The Undertaker and Triple H were left as the last of a dying breath
and were entrusted with maintaining order in the locker room.
The pair shared a genuine emotional moment after their match at WrestleMania XXVII, with both
men admitting they had their doubts if they could still go inside the ring and thanking the other for
bringing out the best in them.

The Paradox Of A Paradox
Introduction
A paradox is a statement or idea that is contradictory in nature giving opposing meanings at the same
time. The use of paradoxes has been employed to engage readers to be part of the story or poem;
readers are tempted to pay more attention. There are direct types of paradoxes ranging from situational
paradoxes to verbal paradoxes. Most literature deals with situational paradoxes as well of verbal
paradoxes depending on what the writer wants to share.
Veridical paradox usually describes a situation that is logically true although it may sound ridiculous.
On the other hand, a falsidical paradox presents a problem that usually uses incorrect assumptions to
justify an, otherwise, wrong results. An antimony paradox is a self referential paradox lays out a set of
conditions and then asks a question, the resolution of which becomes self contradictory, resulting to
lack of a valid answer. On the other hand, a dialetheia paradox claims that opposite statements can be
both simultaneously true.
In the book Fifth Walk, the Rousseau has employed numerous paradoxes that are focused on his
personality and his state of solitude. There is substantial number of paradoxes that the writer has
employed most of which focus on his state of solitude. In the story, the writer narrates how he wished
he could stay longer than just two months. He further regrets that he should have stayed for two
centuries or the whole eternity in the island. A paradox is revealed where he mentions that

The Evolution of David
The greatest transformation in style that occurred between the Renaissance and the Baroque Era can
be found in the evolution of David. The most famous David sculptures come from the well known and
talented artists of Michelangelo and Bernini. There have been many David sculptures created
throughout time, by such artist as Donatello and Verrocchio, but these works have eclipsed most other
works to become sensations that will live forever.
Michelangelo s sculpture of David was created in 1504 during the Renaissance Era. It was
commissioned for the Florence Cathedral but eventually replaced Donatello s David in front of Piazza
Della Signoria. Michelangelo s David is over 17 feet tall without the pedestal and depicts a flawless,
imposing figure standing in a contrapposto position making him look more naturalistic. Unlike
Bernini s sculpture of David, Michelangelo portrays David before his fight with Goliath.
Michelangelo has been said to have sculpted by first conceptualizing the mass of the work and then
carefully extracting all of the marble that was not part of the image. Indeed, in the David it appears
that he worked from front to back instead of from all four sides of the marble block, allowing the
figure, as it were, to step out of the stone. (Fichner Rathus, 377)
Bernini s David created in 1693 during the Baroque Era, was made for the nephew of Pope Paul V and
now resides in the Galleria Borghese in Rome, Italy. Bernini illustrated this David during combat with

What Is Hale s Role In The Play Trifles
Trifles is a play that revolves around the death of Mr. Wright. Henry Peters, the acting sheriff and the
county attorney, Mr. George Henderson, arrive at the Wright s farmhouse with witnesses, Mr. Lewis
Hale, Mrs. Peters, and Mrs. Hale. Mr. Hale describes and recites how he discovered Mrs. Wright,
acting strange, as she rocked eerily back and forth, pleating her apron. She claimed that Mr. Wright
was murdered in his sleep, while she slept soundly next to him. Regardless of the notion that there was
a gun discovered in the farmhouse, Mr. Wright was brutally strangled with a rope. The women, Mrs.
Peters and Mrs. Hale, are oddly concerned and show great worry about the trifles found in the case.
The attorney allows for the women to collect a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dead bird, draped in cloth, with a rope around its neck, is the most critical piece of evidence and
proved Mrs. Wright s character. She was dreary, and had pent up anger that was related to her
marriage; she was not joyous and happy, she had withdrawn from the church choir and now, could
barely finish her household chores. Mrs. Wright was an exhausted woman, quite possibly insane and
she longed for nothing more than freedom and liberation from the heavy weight in her life, her
husband. It can be concluded that Mrs. Wright did have a recognizable, and reasonable motive. Her
husband had depleted and destroyed her happiness. The bird acts as a symbolism for Mrs. Wright s
sanity, or what remained. When the bird was gruesomely strangled and its neck was snapped, she too
snapped and grew deranged and irrational. In the instance that the bird stopped living, Mr. Wright, too,
had declared his future and

Characteristics Of The High Renaissance
This research paper looks at the High Renaissance and the artists that it had produced during this
period. During this time period there were three individuals that had dominated the art world. These
three artists are Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Even though this paper discusses
about the High Renaissance and the three who dominated it, the main focus of the paper is on
Leonardo Da Vinci. Even though he mad such famous paintings, he was not a prolific painter; he was
prolific draftsman as well as a great engineer, architect, inventor, and scientist. Besides having many
famous paintings, Da Vinci also had thousands of drawings, sketches, and doodles that he is famous
for. The drawings contained many notes of what he was interested. There are drawings of the study of
the human body, of his inventions and just things he see is interesting. In art history, the High
Renaissance period refers to a short period in which there was an exceptional artistic production in the
Italian states. The reason why this part of the Reniasance period is called the High Renaissance is
because it has been seen as the time in which the artistic aim and goals of the Renaissance has reached
their greatest application (n.d.). The High Renaissance style was the dominant art style during 16th
century Italy. Many historians believe that three individuals dominated this time period of art. These
individuals are Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. The oldest of the three was Leonardo
Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci was a universal genius. He was not only just the best painter of the world at the
time, but he was also known as a great inventor, architect, engineer and scientist. Even though he was
great in many fields, he is mostly known from his achievements as the painter of many famous
Renaissance art masterpieces.
Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 near the village of Vinci, which is 25 miles away from Florence.
Da Vinci was the illegitimate son of a local of Florence and a prominent notary Florence, Ser Piero Da
Vinci. Not much of his childhood is known, but as a teen he became an apprentice of Andrea del
Verrochio, the leading artist of Florence and the early Reniassance (2017). Later on Leonardo

Three Essential Nutrients
Three nutritional musts for the healing brain of a teen recovering from substance abuse. Substance
abuse is a serious issue that is affecting thousands of people around the world, including many
teenagers. Unfortunately, substance abuse is a disease that damages the brain. When a person actually
takes time to learn about what abusing drugs or alcohol can do to the brain, they will see that the
results are very scary. It can destroy the brain s nerve cells and disrupt neural circuitry. This is going to
affect a person s behavior, their mood, their memory, their decision making abilities and their
cognitive functioning. This is extremely serious. Parents are especially concerned about what
substance abuse is doing to their teenager s brains and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the brain and the body to begin to heal, certain things need to be done. Firstly, a teenager needs to
get help dealing with the substance abuse. A rehab facility is highly recommended. Secondly, using
techniques taught by a skilled psychotherapist can stimulate growth in the brain and repair damaged
nerve cells. Thirdly, a young person is going to need to receive critical nutrients and eat a balanced
diet to adequately heal their body. Three Essential Nutrients for the Healing of the Brain The brain
needs energy through complex carbohydrates. This would include whole grains, starchy vegetables
and beans. Why are these so important? The brain likes to use glucose, or sugar, for energy. Even
though the brain only makes up about 2 percent of the entire body, it uses more than 25 percent of the
energy that is used in the body. For the brain to heal properly, it needs to have plenty of energy. This
means that a person, including one with substance abuse issues, should consume at least 120 g of
carbohydrate every single day. These should be consumed throughout the day to ensure that there is
still energy in a person s liver when they

A Separate Peace Finny Character Analysis
In adolescence, most of us eventually let go of some or most of the innocence we have. A rosy outlook
on life is normally reserved for childhood, yet it is what defines Phineas character in the novel A
Separate Peace by John Knowles. It defines him, even as a teenager, in his high school years at Devon,
an elite boarding school. Furthermore, his innocence defines his relationships with others, particularly
his friend and roommate, Gene. Finny wanted the world to be black and white, and to see the very best
in people, despite the complications he saw in life. It was a vital part of who he was and the legacy
that he left behind. Finny was a purist at heart, and disliked any form of conflict, and both of these
qualities caused miscommunication ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

truly ran from it. Phineas, ironically, tried to enlist in the war effort, despite his dislike of combat and
his broken leg. Yet, what he couldn t comprehend was that he wasn t cut out for conflict. Gene
explains this to Phineas, saying, Finny... Phineas, you wouldn t be any good in the war, even if nothing
had happened to your leg, (pg. 190). Finny was the kind of boy that didn t engage in any form of
hostility, and because of that, he wouldn t be suited for any situation involving it. Gene was forced to
realize this as well. Finny didn t have any form of malice within him, he just didn t think that way.
However, he did ultimately have to realize that there was conflict in the world, and between him and
Gene. That was the difficult part of never seeing anything as a competition nor anyone as an enemy.
Eventually, they both had to grow up, in their separate

NCFE Level 3 Customer Service Excellence
UNIT 1
Task 1
Why Is Service Excellence Important To Your Organisation?
Netjets is a worldwide network of shared aircraft. This is defined as fractional ownership. Customers
make a large investment in a share of a private jet. In relation to the size of their share, they receive a
number of hours flying per year, and they own that asset, the value of which can go up or down. The
customer is also liable for management fees and an occupied hourly flying fee. The customer is
therefore making a very significant investment and expects the highest levels of satisfaction.

We can deliver a better experience for our owners at a lower cost. This can be done by doing
everything with the customer in mind, balancing all stakeholders values, integrating operational
excellence skills in everything we do and listening to our customers and to each other.
The Cost Savings Initiative in conjunction with Operational Excellence continues to remain a top
priority for the company. The initiative entails the dedication of all departments. Out of the 215
different proposals, 60 percent have been completed while an additional 26 percent are on track to be
completed by year end. The completed proposals have so far exceeded $46 million and will be
reflected in the 2010 gross savings. CSI is an ongoing process working in parallel with the five year
plan to ensure the stability and profitability of Netjets.
Access and Slots Allocation
After safety, the most important aspect of our service for our owners is the ability to go where they
want, when they want. In 2008, 80 % of all Pre flight negative experiences were due to slot issues.
This means that access at airports is very important to us. We must try to get guaranteed access in
airports where there is a high volume of traffic. 44% of our business is in London, Paris and
Switzerland. Airports around London are particularly complicated in terms of slots.
Netjets has launched the slot optimisation project, a cross departmental

  • 2. Essay Juvenile Delinquency Juvenile Delinquency Amy Cowan CRJ 422 Prof. Angela Hermosillo November 15, 2010 Juvenile Delinquency Introduction Can we as a society truly reduce the rate of juvenile crime and violence? Throughout all time there has been delinquency. It may not have had the delinquency label, but it still existed. Juvenile crime is mentioned as far back as ancient Sumeria and Hammurabi, where laws concerning juvenile offenders first appear in written form (Rice, 1995, ¶ 3). To this day juvenile delinquency is looked upon as one of the most imperative concerns in crime. A number of studies have been performed concerning delinquency. Countless developments and strategies have presented the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The classical theory focuses on free will. Most classical theories both old and new, make certain basic assumptions (Schmalleger, 2009, p. 81). For example, it is believed humans have the ability to make their own choices, and that pain as well as pleasure is the two key aspects of human behavior. Classical scholars believe preventing crime is probable with quick and assured penalties. However, to be effective, the punishment must outweigh the satisfaction obtained from the criminal conduct (Schmalleger, 2009). Biological theories suggest an individual s behavior is genetically based, and that criminal behavior may perhaps be passed on from generation to generation. They believe it possible to identify criminals through genetic makeup. Biological theorists consider treatment to be ineffective. However, it is thought aggression could be usefully redirected (Schmalleger, 2009). Psychobiological theorist feel that a person s DNA, environmental contaminates, nutrition, hormones, physical trauma, and body chemistry play important and interwoven roles in producing human cognition, feeling, and behavior including crime (Schmalleger, 2009, p.80). These theorists feel that by adjusting an individual s chemical makeup, the potential for crime would be greatly reduced. However, psychological theories suggest that ... Should it be considered a threat, or is it simply a plant that aids the distressed? Marijuana has positively benefited the lives of many, so considering it harmful without being properly informed is unreasonable. Throughout the years a remarkable amount of research has been done to determine the risk and effects of marijuana. From the majority of research, it was determined marijuana is safe. Marijuana is safe to smoke because the dangers are exaggerated, research has proven it has many positive effects on the body, and it s rarely harmful to health. • 4. Hydrogen Ions Within A Patients Blood Acidosis is a condition when the body has too much acid circulating in the body causing the pH of the body to become too acidic (Wisse, 2013). This will then cause the acid/base balance to tip as the acid is building up and the base is lost. Since pH is measured on a scale of 0 to 10 and normal blood pH is kept between 7.35 7.45, minute deviations can cause disruptions throughout many different systems of the body (McAuley, 1993). A decrease below the recommended 7.35 means that there are too many hydrogen ions within a patients blood and they cannot be absorbed by the body. PCO2 is the measurement of partial pressure of carbon dioxide dissolved in arterial blood and helps us understand how much CO2 gas is floating in the blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When this happens there is a low plasma bicarbonate (HCO3 ) concentration due to the loss of storage or renal tubular wasting and an increase in chloride concentration. Respiratory acidosis on the other hand develops when a patient has an increased amount of carbon dioxide that cannot be expelled through regular breathing (Wisse, 2013). Within the classification of metabolic acidosis there are several sub classifications: Diabetic acidosis, Lactic acidosis, hyperchloremic acidosis and a number of other contributing causes such as severe dehydration, poisoning: by aspirin, ethylene glycol or methanol or renal disease/failure (Wisse, 2013). Diabetic acidosis is due to an increased amount of ketones in the bodies of those suffering from uncontrolled diabetes. Diabetics rely upon insulin as fuel to run the body and when the body is unable to use glucose it uses fat. Ketones are the waste that is left after fat is broken down for fuel, they are acid and when they build up in a diabetic s blood and eventually urine, their kidney s are unable to dispel it as fast as it is being used (Wisse, 2013). Since ketones are acidic any impairment in removal of the ketones or continued uncontrollable diabetes will cause the sudden change that could cause life threatening complications and severe illness. Lactic acidosis is due to, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Supply Side Economics Will Benefit the Economy Essay... Supply Side economics and policies would best benefit the economy in the case of a recession next year. Supply side policies are made of several important points to regulate the economy. Supply side policies consist of stimulating the economy by production, cutting taxes, and limiting government regulations to increase incentives for businesses and individuals. Businesses then would invest more and expand to create jobs for people who would save and spend more money. Thus, increased investment and productivity would lead to increased output in the economy. With this increased output the economy grows and unemployment goes down. Yet, this would not be the only policy to bring the economy out of a recession. A monetary policy must be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with moral suasion, persuasion to get consumers to buy, and open market operations, the buying and selling of government securities in financial markets, the easy money policy can only help supply side economics in it s route to ending a recession and gaining economic stability. All of these policies combined, supply side, easy money policy, open market operation, and moral persuasion, can all have an impact on important issues. Some of these issues are employment, international trade, and inflation. Employment may be greatly effected by a huge surge in supply that would cause businesses to hire more workers to meet the need of this great surge in supply and production. This surge in new employment would then put money in the pockets of consumers to buy products and create a demand. International trade can be greatly affected by supply side policies. Businesses are more likely to export their goods if the economy is good and they have the resources to do so. Also businesses may import resources to produce their goods or services. This in the long run could benefit other countries tremendously. It is even possible to cause the same effects of the supply side policies in the US to occur in the other countries, like an increase in employment. Unfortunately, there are limitations on supply side policies. In the case of the Laffer Curve for the years 1981 through 1989, total tax collections when adjusted for inflation, actually declined after 1981 tax ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Gelatin cryogel sheets (5%) were synthesized using... Gelatin cryogel sheets (5%) were synthesized using glutaraldehyde as the cross linker. The aldehyde groups of glutaraldehyde form covalent imine bonds with amino groups of gelatin. Initially different concentrations of gelatin were used (4%, 5%, 6% and 8% respectively). On physical examination of the cryogels produced with these concentrations, it was observed that at higher concentration of gelatin polymer (8%) the rate of polymerization was very fast and hence cryogel sheets formed were not proper. As the percentage of gelatin was increased the amount of cross linker required was low i.e., the amount of cross linker required decreases with increase in monomer concentration. Increase in polymer concentration also leads to less elasticity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Decrease in glutaraldehyde cross linker on increasing the polymer precursor might be happening due to the increased probability of colliding polymers and cross linking agent in this unfrozen liquid microphase where all chemical reactions take place. More probability of colliding might be decreasing the amount of glutaraldehyde required to crosslink polymers for gel synthesis. It was also observed that if the amount of glutaraldehyde used was more than the optimum concentrations (Table 1.1), the gel formed lack porous network and were tough and brittle. When the glutaraldehyde concentration was reduced and kept lower than the optimized one, the gels were weak in mechanical strength. This observation suggests that there seems to be some competition between the nucleation process which takes place in frozen regions and gelation process which takes place in unfrozen liquid microphase. When the concentration of glutaraldehyde was lower than optimum, nucleation process dominates the gelation process and the gels formed were weak due to large pores and less polymer wall formation by cross linking of polymers. When glutaraldehyde quantity was taken more than optimum, gelation dominates the nucleation process and the gels formed were without any pores and were brittle. • 10. Essay On The Causes Of Obesity In America American s are suffering from an epidemic today called obesity. Contributors to the obesity problem are overly large portions of food served to Americans. Also, a lack of physical activity adds to obesity, spending hours in front of a television or computer. Advertisements contribute to Americans over weight problems by pushing high calorie high fat foods. Major health problems caused by obesity are high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. First, obesity can cause high blood pressure in Americans. Overweight individuals are more likely to develop high blood pressure than individuals with average weight. The added fat tissue in the body creates a need for additional blood to circulate through the body. As a result, of this added blood flow there is extra pressure on the artery walls of the heart. With this higher pressure on the artery walls a person s blood pressure rises. Since, there is increased pressure on the heart it causes the heart to grow larger. When the heart grows larger, it loses some of its ability to squeeze blood through the heart valves. So, this extra weight impedes the body s ability to transport blood through the blood vessels. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overweight people can have a buildup of plaque inside the coronary arteries that can lead to heart disease. Since, heart attacks, strokes or even death can be the results of a person suffering from obesity. Being overweight can cause the heart valves to malfunction. This was an important contact because it kept him in touch with the scientific world for many years. In late 1628 he gave a speech in Paris in which he argued that the sciences must be founded on certainty. He was encouraged by Cardinal Pierre de Berulle to develop his own philosophical system. By 1628 Descartes tired of all the traveling and decided to settle down. He gave much thought to choosing a country that suited his nature and decided on Holland. He felt Holland would offer him seclusion and more intellectual freedom. Soon after he settled in Holland Descartes began work on his first major treatise on physics, Le Monde, ou Traite de la Lumiere. This work was near completion when he received the news that Galileo was condemned to house arrest. He decided not to risk publication. His work, the world s first extended essay on physiological psychology, was published after his death. Life and Legacy of Marie Antoinette Essay Marie Antoinette Josèphe Jeanne de Habsbourg Lorraine was born in the mid eighteenth century as an archduchess and princess, to Maria Teresa, the Austrian Empress, at the very apex of the European hierarchal pyramid. • 18. The Subatomic World of Quantum Mechanics Quantum Mechanics The Quantum Mechanics are weird, yet incredibly powerful theory of the subatomic world, in which everyday concepts to do with the forces and motion are seen in a different perspective, as they do not longer apply in the same way. This calls for a new type of mechanics based on what scientists call quantum rules. Quantum mechanics are a very complicated matter that scientists don t fully understand yet; they are in charge of studying the smallest faces of our world. The idea of quantum mechanics was developed in the 20th century by a German physicist Max Planck who introduced his constant, called Plank´s Constant (h=6.62606957×10 34 m2 kg/s), which is used to determinate the energy of a photon. When E=hv (v=frequency). Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr, Paul Dirac and Werner Heisenberg later extended the theory in the 1920s. Trying to explain quantum mechanics is like trying to explain how the universe was formed. There are different doctrines but again, none of them is completely certain. Although it was a tremendous success to the researchers no one really knows how or why it works. It makes prediction in the microscopic world that go completely against our common sense. For example quantum mechanics state that an atom can be in more than 1 place at the same time until we look at it, since then we force it to make a choice on where he is. Also assures that an atom is neither a particle nor a wave, it is both and neither at the same time. All these weird ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Major Reasons For The Fall Of The Roman Empire The major reason for the fall of the Western Roman Empire was due to the over dependence of slavery. Slavery played an important role in Ancient Rome and was heavily relied on to maintain its social, political and economic hold on its Empire that expanded on the Mediterranean area and beyond ( History The Fall of the Roman Republic, 2011). Slavery was first introduced as early as the third century BC, with a lot of its history traced back to the legendary Romulus the founder of Rome, giving Roman fathers the right to sell their own children into slavery ( Slaves Freeman, 2006). As time passed and Rome became a force to be reckoned with, the practice of slavery kept growing with the expansion of the Roman state through victories of the war. The ownership of slaves became omnipresent throughout Rome from the Second Punic War (218 201 BCE) to the 4th century CE, and according to records, an enormous slave trade resulted from the collapse of the Seleucid Empire (100 63 BCE) (Burks, 2008). With several military victories, conquests, and expansions, slavery grew at an incredible rate throughout the state. With conquest came money and with money came more slaves. According to records, in 225 B.C., there were an estimated 600,000 slaves in Roman Italy, but only 194 years later that number grew to approximately two million (Burks, 2008). In the Roman state, slaves worked everywhere. They were used for domestic services, agricultural labor, and gladiator fighting. Educated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These imaging modalities include ultrasound, whole body sestamibi scan, whole body CT, MRI or PET scan and bone scan. Considering that Ray Anderson joined forces with three other business partners, one could assume that there would definitely be cultural changes or differences, just to name a couple. Interface went through some phases in cultural incrementalism. The first phase as discussed in our textbook is driven by the vision of the leader, in this case Ray Anderson. The second phase is to integrate the new values into the culture. This, however, is determined by what values have been successful for the business in order for these values to move on to the third phase. With this in mind, the third phase then is when the value becomes important. These are the three phases in cultural incrementalism. Furthermore, identity dynamics also plays a huge role in a business. This basically means the business ponders on one very important question, and the question is as crucial as answering it should be. The question is: who are we? Members of a business learn culture through verbal and nonverbal behaviors. What is reflected is then mirrored, and these values tend to stay with the business and helps them adjust behaviors if need be. Interface faced some pretty big challenges. Ray Anderson had a vision, and it was probably not the same vision the other members had. Members of a business are not always in agreement, or they resist certain things or changes. The book focuses on a trip that the main character Marlow takes and what he sees and how it changes him. The book is based off the author Conrad real life experience when he traveled to the Congo and captained a ship that sailed down the Congo River. • 29. Autism Is A Genetic Disorder Although autism has spread globally, scientists continue conducting research to identify the precise causes. More specifically, they are zeroing in on genetic mutations, brain chemistry abnormalities, and maternal factors. One possible cause that can lead to autism is genetic mutations. First of all, families studies indicate that children can affected by autism through heredity. It is true that children inherited some characteristics from their parents. This is because a chromosome of a child produced by one chromosome father and the other one from mother, which formed as DNA. As a matter of fact, if parents have some genetic disease, they can pass it to the offspring through DNA. In same way, because autism is a genetic disorder, it can pass down generation. In fact, according to Cowley (2000), the prevalence of having autistic child is 5% of family who already has this disorder, which means around 25 times the normal average. Clearly, inheriting autism through families result in increasing the number of autistic children in the population. Another evidence shows that autism can caused by inheriting genetic disorder is through conducting twins studies. There are two types of twins. First one is identical twins, which formed by splitting one fertilized egg and then developed in two babies. Therefore, they are sharing the same genetic codes. This idea was originated when attempting to portray one s nation to be superior compared to the others and therefore, such actions were taken in order gain that economic power. In the given poems as well as the movie, Avatar by James Cameron, it s clearly evident that European imperialism is portrayed negatively with regard to the fact that external nations were invading the native lands and influencing the indigenous people s religion. They had also imposed certain traditions and customs upon the subjects which included a change in religion. In addition, European imperialism was dishonorable because the general idea of invading one s land for any given reason doesn t justify the impact created upon the natives. In Let Freedom Come , Davidson exclaims, I hear you countryman done spoil to West Indies ... I think he want come spoil we country too ( Davidson lines 2 4). Also, African leaders were quite aware of the classic move played upon their nation in terms of building a foundation of skills to control the trade routes which resulted in conquering certain parts of land. Nonetheless, scientists can prove five mass extinctions in history. The first mass extinction happened roughly around 445 million years ago. It was named the Ordovician Extinction. The species affected were known as Graptolite, which are different types of sea creatures. Their demise on Earth lasted around only one million years. Around sixty to seventy percent of the species disappeared, and now the remaining species have evolved into something new. The extinction was likely because of a short and dangerous ice age, or the formation of the Appalachian mountains. It was likely that glaciers formed over the oceans and caused the sea levels to rapidly drop, killing the species. The second mass extinction happened to sea creatures once again. Somewhere between 375 360 million years ago, fluctuations of the sea levels in the ocean caused a large portion of Earth s species to disappear. Starting at Year Zero, June 2012 to June 2013, the battle over cyberspace witnessed world changing cyberattacks. This was accomplished due to the fact that nearly 75% of the world s population has easy access to a mobile phone, and the Internet connects nearly 40% of the total human population, which is nearly 2.7 billion people. With that being said, cyberattacks are becoming a more realistic form of terror. The danger behind these attacks is Year Zero began with the detection of the Stuxnet malware, allegedly developed by the United States, who partnered with Israel. This malware was released in order to damage Iranian machines and mess with Iran s best scientific minds. Stuxnet proved that the United States was willing to do whatever it took to develop these forms of offensive capabilities which are needed to dominate the cyber battlespace. This attack was used to send Iran s nuclear program back almost two years. I think that what made Stuxnet dangerous was that it was nearly impossible to detect, developers had zero days to fix or patch damage that had already been done. The computers used to transfer the malware were not connected to the Internet, they jumped the air gap by allowing the malware to be transferred through portable devices, leading to an even more traumatic cyberattack. However, the rise of the internet allowed for a new way for child pornography to flourish, with simple websites being distributed to those who could see it from the safety of their own homes. However, as the law matured and came to battle this, new ways to distribute the pornography were also invented, a tit for tat war that always had each side claiming victories and losses. Though, now it seems that newest feature on the internet to allow for child pornography to be distributed easily is the Deep Web. This is a part of the World Wide Web that is not discoverable by means of standard search engines, including password protected or dynamic pages and encrypted networks. It was created by the US government and has legitimate and useful purposes, including journalistic freedom in repressed nations, activists on freedom of speech and the leaking of secrets that are having an adverse effect on others. However, the anonymity presented by the Deep Web and it s search engine, TOR (The Onion Router), has allowed for criminal means to occur with perhaps millions of users across the world being undetected. Naturally, the argument for this paper is not if we should be allowing this, but how strong we should be going against this. As such, the evidence will be given that total war should be taken against these networks, to flush out the pedophiles on these sites, take them down permanently and arrest the individuals who both create this smut and view it. There are direct types of paradoxes ranging from situational paradoxes to verbal paradoxes. Most literature deals with situational paradoxes as well of verbal paradoxes depending on what the writer wants to share. • 42. The Evolution of David The greatest transformation in style that occurred between the Renaissance and the Baroque Era can be found in the evolution of David. The most famous David sculptures come from the well known and talented artists of Michelangelo and Bernini. There have been many David sculptures created throughout time, by such artist as Donatello and Verrocchio, but these works have eclipsed most other works to become sensations that will live forever. Michelangelo s sculpture of David was created in 1504 during the Renaissance Era. It was commissioned for the Florence Cathedral but eventually replaced Donatello s David in front of Piazza Della Signoria. Michelangelo s David is over 17 feet tall without the pedestal and depicts a flawless, imposing figure standing in a contrapposto position making him look more naturalistic. Unlike Bernini s sculpture of David, Michelangelo portrays David before his fight with Goliath. Michelangelo has been said to have sculpted by first conceptualizing the mass of the work and then carefully extracting all of the marble that was not part of the image. Indeed, in the David it appears that he worked from front to back instead of from all four sides of the marble block, allowing the figure, as it were, to step out of the stone. (Fichner Rathus, 377) Bernini s David created in 1693 during the Baroque Era, was made for the nephew of Pope Paul V and now resides in the Galleria Borghese in Rome, Italy.
