Mr. Fox Begins Essay
In life, we are susceptible to danger just about everywhere we go. Most people avoid danger at all
costs, however there are certain dare devils who will face danger head on. Have you ever wondered if
some people willingly put themselves in dangerous situations just to explore their curiosity? If you
had to take a guess, would you guess that men or women are more likely to willingly enter dangerous
situations? People will face danger for many different reasons, some because they are not at all aware
of the potential danger, and others do because their temptation is too strong. In an initial reading,
Oyeyemi s tale What Happens Next in her novel Mr. Fox begins by telling the story of Mary Foxe s
plane ride back to London where she meets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Was St. John Fox intent on speaking specifically to Mary Foxe on the plane ride? Or did Mary Foxe
just happen to be in the right place and at the right time? The way he enters the scene in the novel is
particularly strange and seems to alarm Mary Foxe. She describes his appearance like this It seemed as
he had addressed the words to me, so I opened my eyes. He was sitting to my right, his whole body
turned toward me, his chin on his fist as he studied me. I hadn t heard or felt him draw near (Oyeyemi
149). The way St. John Fox snuck up on Mary Foxe so quietly appeared to startle her, even though his
intentions only appear to be to engage in casual conversation by mentioning Only two hours until
landing (Oyeyemi 149). Was this conversation accidental or planned? His seemingly unimportant
comment wasn t what appeared to bother Mary Foxe. While describing his looks from her initial
glance up at him, she said He was good looking. Enough to make me feel uncomfortable. Tall and
dark, etc. (Oyeyemi 149). Mary Foxe specifically stated that St. John Fox made her feel
uncomfortable solely based off of his looks, proving the earlier alternate interpretation of the chapter
to be correct that she did at one point see potential danger in St. John Fox. However, there is no strong
evidence to support that she was extremely bothered by slyness. Another piece of evidence that
supports the claim that St. John Fox had specific intentions of connecting with Mary Foxe

The Lives Of Galileo And Kepler s Inventions
In ancient Greek there are a few main famous people that are remembered. They are Galileo, Newton,
and Kepler. These men were very intelligent and creative and like to think outside the box when it
comes to math, science, and astronomy. All three men were in a way connect to another through their
works. Let s take a deeper look into the lives of these three men.
We can start with Galileo an Italian astronomer. He is known for a few things such as the Copernican
theory which basically is the theory that supports sun centered solar system. Also Galileo became
interested in astronomy, and after he did he built the first telescope back in 1609. With this new
invention it helped him discover things about the planets. For an example it helped him discover ...

He did other work as well as to improve optics in the refracting telescope and coming up with the
Mysterium
Cosmographicum. He improved the Copernican system and wrote in terms of mathematical of how
planets moved.
The last is Newton from England astronomer. He came up with the three laws of motion not to
confuse them with Kepler s three laws of planetary motion. Newton s three laws were one every
object in motion stays in motion until acted upon by force, the second is force equals mass times
acceleration, and the third is to every action there is an opposite reaction. He also wrote gradational
theory with the help of Kepler s previous work. He became inspired by the sight of seeing a falling
apple. This got him curious and wanted to know more. He also was known for the first reflecting
telescope, which allowed him to play around with the colors and prism that came from the spectrum to
see. Though he may not have had tons of contributing he did have major findings and that is what
made him famous.
It seems like throughout history that these three men eventually helped each other out from what they
discovered. Since they were in the same field and had

The War Between The Civilized And Barbaric World
President Bush described his holy war against the so called terrorism as a war between the civilized
and barbaric world. But his government committed more barbaric acts than the terrorists themselves. I
can name tons of war crimes that Bush s government is involved in. (Mohamedou Ould Slahi, pg 46)
Mohamedou Ould Slahi said this when he was in the Guantanamo Bay Camps. His tragic experience
was later written and published as the novel known as Guantánamo Diary. The issue of Guantanamo
Bay is a complex one. What it is about is the United States violated the human rights of the people
taken into the camps. They took them in, held them prisoners, and tortured them. (Wikipedia,

Battle Of Iwo Jima
The Battle of Iwo Jima started February 19, 1945 and ended in late March. It was a battle fought
between right around 70,000 U.S. soldiers and about 20,000 Japanese soldiers. Three divisions of U.S.
Marines invaded the island with one goal, to capture the Japanese airfields. This battle was a huge
turning point in World War II and helped end the war. The battle of Iwo Jima happened because the
location of the island was tactically important. Iwo Jima was close enough to the main island of Japan
that the U.S. could send fighter jets with bombers to bomb the main island. There were three airfields
which could be used for emergency landing bases during the bombing runs. Taking over the airfields
would also help stop the Japanese fighter jets shooting down B 29s during bombing runs. Before the
battle started, commanding general, Holland M. Smith told his men This will be the bloodiest fight in

The U.S. suffered more casualties, but more Japanese troops died. There were approximately 6,800
U.S. troops dead and approximately 17,000 wounded. All except about 1,000 Japanese troops died in
battle and the rest were taken prisoner. This showed the U.S. just how willing the Japanese were to
give their lives to defend their country. Since Iwo Jima was much closer to the other islands of Japan
than the Marianas, the B 29 bombers were able to carry more bombs. Thus inflicting more damage to
the Japanese military. The capture of Iwo Jima proved to be a turning point in the war. The U.S. Air
Force could now send fighter jets to escort the bombers and the Japanese lost a landing post. The
American bombers were also able to bomb any of the islands that made up Japan and the bombers
could carry more bombs. In the end the bombers were capable of inflicting even more devastating
bombing campaigns and have a closer landing post than the Marianas. The conquering of Iwo Jima is

Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 plan
is to reduce the number of undocumented immigrants entering the United States for permanent
settlement (Fix, and Passel, 2013). The Act required additional resources to join the Border Patrol
Enforcement to control the movement of immigrants to the United States. Penalties were imposed to
employer s providing employment opportunities to the undocumented employees to discourage illegal
immigration. The Act required businesses, such as merchandise companies, hotels, workshops, and
general stores hiring undocumented individuals and legalizing the undocumented population settling
in the United States. Businesses who are noncompliant with this law result in penalties, such as civil
fines, criminal penalties, and prevention from government contracts. Court orders require payments
from back pay to the individual s involved in the discrimination. Courts require employers to hire
individuals involved in discrimination cases (Fix, Passel, 2013).
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 The American with Disabilities Act of 1990 is meant for

TECHNOLOGY PLANS Technology plan is expected for an organization. Technology Plan will
present the accurate management of resources according to the main concern. Creating something new
can be termed as innovation. There are different kinds of innovation models. Innovation models are
very important as these plays a major part in the growth of technology plan. Innovation will profile the
process. The technology push and need pull are the two necessary words of Innovation Process. In
technology push, new opportunity is coming out from research works. Need pull is the mother of
innovation. It means that market will request the need of something new. In a fact state both the
technology push and need pull should be the same. The relations of both the variables should be equal.
Innovation is a difficult process. Most innovation starts with some problems like confused, false starts,
problem with the recycling of steps and so on. There are three types of Innovations. First of all
Disruptive Innovation, the second open Innovation and third is closed Innovation Disruptive
Innovation can be defined as structure of a process which describes a sort of market scheme.

out booklets to foreign workers upon their arrival in Singapore. These booklets regarding the

such informations are unable to reach them.
Public endorsement of the exploitation of foreign workers seems to be allow for businesses and ports
in Singapore to run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year on foreigners because the
economic market have created an industrial and work culture that requires them to accepting
conditions that local workers would not agree to. Thus businesses are allowed to cut corners by
squeezing foreign workers dry.
The restrictive work permit system, which ties foreign workers to a single employer, makes it difficult
for them to negotiate for better working conditions let alone higher wages. Many were afraid to speak
up fearing that they might lose their jobs. Returning to their countries is not what they are looking
forward to as many have taken out loans of up to $9000 just to work in Singapore. These workers
have to work for long hours to support their families and to re pay their debt.

He was a benevolent boss.
CASE ANALYSIS
1. The main reason for the decaying employee morale was the quick growth of the business. Dr. Perry
s employees were well compensated at competitive market rates and enjoyed a pleasant working
environment. The annual growth of the business (15%) meant that his employees were making
relatively less money than Dr. Perry himself. The current pay structure did not have any provision for
any category of employees to earn a proportion of the profits. Every employee has a fixed hourly
salary. Thus, a bigger business meant that they felt like slave labourers since they were aware of the
increase in the practice s revenues and number of patients.
2. Dr. Perry s revenues largely depended on the hygienists who generated about 40% of the revenues.
Even the receptionists played a vital role in adding to the revenue by filling in cancelled appointments.
His assistants too contributed by playing the role of nurses by comforting the patients which further
helped in patient retention. Thus it would seem only fair that a part of the profits must be shared with
the employees in the form of a variable pay structure.
3. As per the conference which Dr. Perry had attended, the first approach of remunerating the
employees focused on the contribution of the hygienists only. As per this approach, the hygienists
would be paid purely on a commission basis of around 40% of the total earnings. The main
advantages of this system are:

The Great Moai Statues Of Easter Island
Similarities and differences are what make things so interesting. Would you be happy if everyone was
the same. Every looked the same, and liked the same things and hated the same things. No you wouldn
t because you would want to be you and no one can tell you what you want to be or what you don t
want to be. Even the buildings you make would be the same from a normal house to a normal office
building. The Panama Canal was one of the most useful canals ever built and they were made to for
one reason and that was to transport goods. This was somethings everyone needed to solve at that
time(1900s). The great Moai statues of Easter Island are also great structures and are really
tremendous to the eye. These buildings and canals were made to one purpose they had to do
somethings and that something was to make things easier for the people. Some similarities they had
were that they both took a long time and sacrifice to build. A difference they had was that they were
built for different purposes and they had their own different struggles.
Predominantly, The Panama Canal was one of the greatest structures built by mankind. The Moai as
well were something to be fascinated by because they were beautiful creations made by us. The one
thing they both have in common was that they both took a long time to build. The Moai took
approximately about 10 15 years to build and that was with the help of mana which was part of the
belief and if that wouldn t of existed it probably

This is because of Egyptian artwork has many artworks in the frontal pose, only wearing some fabric

his waist. It also reminds me of the blank face, clenched fist and open palm of the Khafre sculpture.
Similarly to Khafre sculpture, the girl is in frontal pose. The girl has one hand clenched into a fist
holding the balloon and the other relaxed and open. The sculpture could possibly have the same
meaning to the painting, with her clenched fist representing the strength of the album and the relaxed
palm showing the steadiness or fluidity of the album. Additionally, just like the sculpture, the girl has
an emotionless face, which could suggest there is no weakness or flaw in the album. All in all, I
believe modern art has traces/resemblance to past art in them, and there are no exceptions in this
artwork for an album

The Biological Processes Of Dairy Cattle Essay
In today s world, many infants are allergic to certain proteins naturally present in cow s milk. Due to
the huge volume of milk products consumed by the human race, there is a need to get rid of this
allergy causing protein and eliminate this allergic reaction. AgResearch has investigated ways to
manipulate the genetic material in dairy cattle by using the process of Gene Knockdown , with the aim
to create a cow which produces milk which doesn t contain the protein responsible for the allergic
reactions, the Beta lacto globulin protein or BLG . Scientists have been successful in creating Daisy
the Cow, who is a cloned calf genetically modified to produce milk which does not contain the BLG
protein. I will be discussing the biological processes behind the cloning of Daisy the cow, and the
decisions made by scientists to use methods for genetically modifying the cow s genes from whom
Daisy was cloned, for the benefit of humans.
There are specific reasons AgResearch used processes like Gene Knockdown and cloning by Somatic
Cell Nuclear Transfer SCT to get the result they wanted. The stakes are high to ensure the cloned cow
Daisy survives and is healthy. Therefore AgResearch needed to choose procedures which were most
likely to yield successful results. The whole project and process cost around 50 million dollars to
produce one cow, and with historical success rates very low they could potentially lose funding and be
shut down if the project didn t produce any successful

Ethics of Penn Square Bank and the Dow Corning Bankruptcy Penn Square Bank: What were the
ethical pressures on the firm concerning documentation, credit extension, and revenue recognition that
lead to the final collapse? What should have been done to reduce or offset these pressures?
Penn Square Bank was a small commercial bank in Oklahoma City which made high risk financial
loans during the late 1970s in the oil boom. The bank ultimately collapsed during the early 1980s due
to their financing practices. The bank was overestimating and valuing its customer s gas and oil

Dow Corning Corporation was founded in 1943 as a jointly owned enterprise by The Dow Chemical
Company and Corning Incorporated to develop the potential of silicone materials. Dow Corning s
principal businesses were silicone materials and polycrystalline silicon.
In the early 1960 s Dow Corning supplied Texas plastic surgeons Frank Gerow and Thomas Cronin
with silicone for their medical implant device research. Gerow and Cronin, using Dow Corning
silicone, invented the first silicone breast implant as a device to aid women who had undergone
mastectomies. At that time, the Food and Drug Administration had no regulations governing
implantable devices. Companies like Dow Corning had to determine the safety of devices on their
own. The surgeons conducted clinical trials of the implant prior to product introduction in 1964. In the
next several years, the implant grew popular for cosmetic surgery as well as reconstructive, and Dow
Corning cornered both markets. Between 1960s and the mid 1990s, about two million women
nationwide have received breast implants, most of them for cosmetic reasons. However, some women
have started to complain that the implants have ruptured, allowing gel to leak into the breast cavity

Thinking Outside The Idiot Box Analysis
Contemporary t.v. in today s society has taken up a vast amount of time in people s life. People can
spend hours in a day just watching t.v. mindlessly, however, is this time spent watching t.v. making a
person smarter? The television shows that people watch today are a primary form of entertainment for
a majority of America, along with conveying information to viewers. For years now people have
wanted dumb, simple tv, but as the culture began to develop more cognitively people want complex

Similar to what Dana Stevens is taking about in finding credibility in a television like 24, Jason Zinser
looks at this question in his article, The Good, the Bad, and The Daily Show. . Zinser addresses both
the benefits and downfalls of television, but ultimately ends up taking a stand somewhere in the
middle of how t.v. is both good and bad for people. Zinser s believes that The Daily Show can be used
as a starting point from which people can gain an understanding of current events but it s not the most
useful way. He claims that this type of information people gain from watching a comedy news show

matter where people are gaining their knowledge about the world and critical events as long as they

public is informed about the news in the world they have an understanding of it and could possibly

Final Project One. The Specialized Online Retail Store,
Final Project One
The specialized online retail store, Zappos, was established over eighteen years ago. The founder,
Nick Swinmurn, created Zappos.com after he spent an unsuccessful day shopping for shoes both in
store and online. Nick s irritation and annoyance of his shopping experience prompted him to focus on
creating an online shoe store that offered a large selection of shoes, as well as providing great
customer service. Since launching Zappos.com, the company has seen enormous progression
including a union with another online leader, Amazon (About Zappos, n.d.).

In turn, he has built a team that understands the culture and values within the company, as well as
adapting this as part of their personal lifestyle (Gallucci, 2011).
In spite of managers playing a vital role in the success of a company, when it comes to executing the
management strategic plan, Zappos implemented a tactic called Holacracy. This system of
management has an even allocation of authority and allows employees to be their own leader. . This
self organized company evenly distributes decision making, responsibility, and leadership throughout
the organization. The system has empowered employees to be in charge of their own goals and ability
to solve their own problems. In order to adapt to this change, the employees attended holacracy
training before entering into this new model. The previous mangers learned skills to transform from
leading their teams to leading by example (Bunch, 2014).
Holacracy stimulates empowerment in the employees, resulting in pride and accountability in their
work. Additionally, this method promotes thoughts of innovation in employees as well as increased
problem solving. In theory, this unique approach in management assists Zappos in achieving their
overall mission and goals because each person is equally invested in the success of the company.
Clearly, the success of Zappos is due to the strategic alignment of the management styles, employees,
and the companies mission and vison (Gosfield, 2015).

Organizational Analysis
How an organization is structured has enormous consequences not only for the success of its business
but, also, for the success of its employees.
Though it is obvious why understanding organizations is critical to business success, nevertheless it is
worthwhile to review these reasons. The structure of a firm either enhances or hinders efficiency and
productivity. In other words, how information flows and to whom, whether and how many parts of the
work process is redundant, how clear and precise is the reporting structure, if and how new ideas and
products are promoted these and many more issues are obvious consequences of structure and
profoundly affect the success of the business.

Information systems are state of the art. The recipients of this information have to be able to act
quickly to stay on top. Thus, they have to be very team centered (to analyze the information and to
translate it into new products and services), and they have to have a great deal of leeway with respect
to decision making and authority (to respond promptly to customer needs).
A growing and successful construction company prided itself on building expensive homes geared to
client needs and adaptable to client wants. However, client requirements were initially not addressed
in depth, methods to solicit this information were not developed (e.g., the use of software that would
enable clients to imagine being inside the house as it was being built), contact was initiated only when
another payment was due, and only the owner could fix the final price of the house. The net result was
that the owner, in effect, convinced buyers what they should want, thereby dramatically increasing the
number of client initiated changes as the clients along the way became clearer about what they
wanted.
Information about customer initiated changes was frequently communicated incorrectly or late to the
field, even more increasing construction costs due to the need to undo work that had been already
completed. Sales people were pre empted at closing regarding sales price, making for rapid turnover

The Cardiovascular System Is A Very Complex System In That
The cardiovascular system is a very complex system in that includes not only the main organ the
heart, but also the arteries, veins, and capillaries as well, and even the liver. So, one questions a lot of
people may ask is how does the heart work in order to keep us alive day in and day out. Well, that
answer is quite simple the heart pumps blood through the superior and inferior vena cava and it then
pumps to the lungs to pick up oxygen and then back out through the aorta to the rest of the body.
However, if someone wants to know the details and complexity of the heart, it would be like this. So
there are multiple chambers in the heart. The heart has four chambers an upper right and left that are
called atria, while the lower right and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for the elderly stage of life their hearts also have to work harder due to increased plaque buildup in
the arteries. Thus, making the blood has to push harder through the clotted arteries to make sure every
part of the body gets the oxygen and nutrients it needs in order to function properly. Also, the elderly
also may have issues with heart function because of diseases, and trauma to the heart throughout their
lifetime. A person can experience many different types of diseases and problems when it comes to the
heart some of the major ones would include myocardial infarctions, Congestive heart failure, and heart
disease are some of the leading heart issues today. So, let s tackle a myocardial infarction first, this is
when the heart is cut off to oxygen rich blood and when it doesn t get oxygen the heart muscle begins
to die off and that portion that has died is no longer functional. So, in some cases that s where
pacemakers and stints and other heart devices come into play to help people live as normally as
possible. When people suffer massive events such as myocardial infarctions. They are at a higher risk
for occurring a second one in the future, because the heart becomes weaker as a result and some
damage may have already occurred as well making it more susceptible too. Some of the symptoms of
a myocardial infarction are pressure, tightness, in the chest or the arms, may go to your neck, jaw, and

Essay on Evaluation of The Silence Of The Lambs
Evaluation of The Silence Of The Lambs
The film which I am evaluating is called The Silence of the Lambs and is based on Thomas Harris
novel and is directed by Jonathan Demme. The film was shot in Pittsburgh and is set in West Virginia.
In the making of this film careful research was carried out in bringing each character to life especially
Jame Buffalo Bill Gumb. This included the actors being at crime scenes and viewing files about
previous serial killers in order to fit into their characters properly. Jonathan Demme cleverly blended
together different characteristics from other mass murderers in order to make Buffalo Bill realistic and
fearsome. In the film Psycho Norman Bates uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sent home by the police. Now she has nightmares and wakes up hearing the lambs screaming and she
believes that if she can rescue Catherine (who has been abducted by Buffalo Bill) then she will silence
the lambs forever and never hear them scream again. She agrees despite police warning because she
could achieve a valuable insight into the killer s thoughts and actions. My key scene is towards the end

Evaluation Of A Research Study
In research, the quantitative study seems to be the most favored method to conduct a study due to its
validity and numerical value. Quantitative studies are objective and considered to be a hard science
which is measurable, and suitable to establish cause and effect relationships (Anderson, 2006). The
quantitative study seeks explanatory laws via statistical analysis and the participation of a large
number of participants (Anderson, 2006). The article by Burns et al (1999), which this writer will be

individuals with severe psychotic illness (Burns et al., 1999). The difference this study will make is an
improvement in the mental health services rendered in the UK and Europe. The literature review
provided a fair and generalized justification for conducting this quantitative study by exploring other
variables. Burns et al. (1999) failed to go into detail about specific literature review that inspired this
quantitative study. The potential bias the researcher presents is the singling out one ethnic group of
Afro Caribbean, by implying that this ethnic group tends to be uncooperative and poorly served

(1999) describe previous methods of controlled groups as a way to understand the strength of
association between the type of case management and the number of hospital admissions (Burns et al.,
1999). Previous methods created the relevance to understanding the purpose of conducting this study.

The United States and Illegal Immigration Essay
Illegal immigration was an issue in the past and is a pressing problem in the present. The U.S.
Government has been trying to find a resolution to this issue for years. The United States approved the
Immigration Reform and Control Act in 1986, which allowed the American Government to punish
American companies that consciously employed illegal immigrants (Nadadur 1037 1052). The United
States Government Immigration Reform and Control Act has been unsuccessful in controlling illegal
immigration. It is estimated that illegal immigration into the U.S. has a yearly interval of three
hundred fifty thousand people (Rousmaniere 24 25). It is apparent that the 1986 act was not able to
keep a handle on illegal immigration. Illegal immigration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Illegal immigrants help boost the United States economy by paying some taxes. Like American
citizens, illegal immigrants may pay local, state, and federal taxes including sales tax that helps
support government services that they may not be able to access (Ewing 9). Since more American
citizens are becoming aware of the benefits of an education, openings are being created for illegal
immigrants in low paying jobs (Nadadur 1037 1052). Americans, unlike illegal immigrants, have more
diverse careers. Aliens are more concentrated in specific job areas, resulting in a decrease in
immigrant labor cost. This helps boost the United States economy (Carter 777 795). Of the
approximate eleven million illegal immigrants in the U.S., most work in labor intensive jobs. Careers
such as construction and agriculture tend to attract illegal aliens and they account for about twenty
five percent of the work force in these areas (Ewing 9). Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal
Reserve admits that illegal immigrants help improve the United States economy and does not suggest
turning them away (qtd. in Quindlen 90). Anna Quindlen, in her article Newcomers By Numbers,
agrees with Bernanke and believes that immigrants are the factor that helps keep prices low. She also
adds that immigrants are not causing American citizens unemployment, but are simply taking the low
wage jobs that citizens are not willing to do and even boosting the economy (90). On the other hand,

Witchcraft in the 16th Century Essay
The origins of 16th century witchcraft were changing social, economic and religious conditions in
Europe and America. The desire to find a scapegoat for the change resulted in a genocide known as
the Burning Times that lasted more than a century. Witches were accused of casting spells on
unfortunate victims and were often sentenced to death by hanging, drowning or by being burned to
death.
History of The persecution of people practicing witchcraft in the 16th century began in England in
1589. However, the country s concern with witchcraft had been growing throughout the century,
largely in response to the current social, economic and religious conditions in the country. Although

Besides testimony, witches were also identified by midwife s examination. If any black marks were
found on the accused s body, the mark was often considered Satan s mark and proof that she was a
witch. Significance The 16th century witch hunts resulted in the deaths of nearly 50,000 people. The
majority of the accused and sentenced were poor and elderly women who did not have a stable place
in society. It is theorized that the witchcraft hysteria was in response to women s growing role in
society. During the 16th century, single, unmarried and independent women represented a societal
shift that a large portion of the population was uncomfortable with. The result was genocide and what
some have called a holocaust. Society, including women, rejected the notion of unmarried women
living alone, without a husband or family, or women who did not go to church and abide by prevailing
social norms.
In the 17th century, the presence of witches reached incredible attention with accusations and
executions of people accused of witchcraft. The fear caused by these trials and executions spurred
many people to become the accuser rather than become the accused. The snowball effect this caused
culminated in a mass hysteria in Europe and the colonies. Today, it is speculated that many of the
people who were accused and ultimately executed for witchcraft were innocent. History Witchcraft
has long been a part of our world s history. Fear of witches eventually

Genghis Khan and his Army in Mongolia in 1162
Temujin, better known as Genghis Khan, was born in northern Mongolia in 1162. After uniting the
nomadic Mongolian tribes in 1206, Khan led a successful military campaign that spanned more than
three decades, pillaging vast areas of land and subjugating millions of people. Though Khan and his
armies are often thought of as cruel barbarians, his advanced military tactics and progressive outlook
on ruling painted him in a somewhat different light. Although he was born to a noble Mongolian
family, early life for Khan was violent and unpredictable. At the age of 10, his father was poisoned
and killed in an attempt to extinguish his claim to leadership. Several subsequent attempts were made
on Khan s life for this same purpose. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During an engagement between the two armies, the Mongolians deployed a false withdrawal, one of
their most common tactics. While the forces of Yinchuan attempted to recover from the initial attack
of Mongolian cavalry, a massive siege was launched upon the city. Although the Mongolian attempt to
flood the city ultimately failed, the Xi Xia ruler recognized the military superiority of the Mongolians
and decided to submit and present tribute. After conquering the kingdom of Xi Xia, the Mongols
attacked the Jin Dynasty of northern China. This war was aggravated by the Jin ruler, who demanded
that Mongolia submit to the Jin Dynasty as a vassal state. From 1211 to 1214, the Mongolians fought a
war of attrition, pillaging the countryside and sending thousands of refugees into the cities, creating
major food shortages. Seeing no alternative, the Jin army massacred tens of thousands of its own
peasants in an attempt to prevent large scale starvation. In 1214, the Mongolians besieged the severely
weakened capital of Zhongdu (now Beijing), the Jin ruler immediately surrendered and offered large
amounts of gold, silver, silk, and horses as tribute. When the same ruler later angered Khan by moving
his court south to the city of Kaifeng, in breach of their agreement, Khan retaliated by burning the city
of Zhongdu to the ground. In 1219 Genghis Khan

Analysis Of The Book Joyas Voladoras By Published...
In the book Joyas Voladoras by published editor Brain Doyle, Doyle begins talking about humming
birds. The heart of a humming bird, and its physical aspects. Doyle then elaborates on the title that it
translates to flying jewels, which the first explorers named them. Doyle is talking about life, the center
of all living things life, the heart and the different aspects of the heart. The memory that can be stored
there, the heartbeats, the size and even how a heart can be broken. Doyle presents his ideas differently
but causes the reader to connect emotionally, factually, and fairly personally.
Doyle takes a different approach on this essay for the beginning, he makes a move on the reader.
Doyle provides the reader with the assumption that the short essay will cover hummingbirds. Leading
to the effect of grabbing the attention of different types of readers, ones who are interested in
humming birds or readers who know little and are just curious. Doyle states consider the hummingbird
for a long moment (147). Doyle s presentation of the beginning of his essay now affected specific
readers, it pulled in readers from an animal interest. Providing readers with the assumption that while
reading this essay they should consider the hummingbird, and causes them to imagine a hummingbird
for a moment. This move works in the text because the reader s focus is pin pointed to a specific topic
from the beginning, and from that intro Doyle explains in later sentences facts about the

A Personal Health Record ( Ehr )
A personal health record (PHR) is an emerging health information technology that patients may use to
participate in their own health care and improve the quality and efficiency of that care. Most articles
written about PHRs have been published since 2000.
PHR could be defined as An electronic application through which individuals can access, manage and
share their health information, and that of others for whom they are authorized, in a private, secure,
and confidential environment . A PHR should not be confused with an electronic health record (EHR).
While EHR is entered and edited by health care provider, PHR is accessed and, in some cases, edited
by the patient himself.
There are two main types of PHR, tethered, or connected, PHR and untethered, or standalone, PHR.
There are many benefits of PHR such as Empowerment of patients, Improve patient provider
communication and relationships, Increase patient safety, Access to patient data in emergencies,
chronic disease management, Improved quality of care, more efficient delivery of care, Better
safeguards on health information privacy, bigger cost savings and improve Behavioral habits.
There are many challenges facing adoption of PHR such as maintaining data security and privacy and

Canadian United States Foreign Policy
Canadian United States Foreign Policy, Consistent and Thriving I hypothesize that the current US
policy with Canada makes sense and is beneficial to both countries. Our current foreign policies with
Canada include, working in partnerships within, at, and away from our borders to achieve enhanced
security and accelerate the legitimate flow of people, goods, and services between our two countries.
Our relationship with Canada, I would consider to be strong. The fact that we have a very large,
extensive border between our countries, a solid relationship is almost a necessity. Eve with outr
differences with regards to boundaries and oil reserve rights, the communications between our country
are strong and I would classify the United States relationship with Canada and strong and thriving, but

example, Canada, absorbs 43% of U.S. exports, and half of their energy imports come from the
Western Hemisphere. (US Dept. of State 2013) With this, I would also go to say that sharing a border
with shared values and beliefs in our economic structure are key to successful foreign relations. With
strong relations with our neighboring country, we can rely on each other in times of crisis and in
peace. For example, Canada is the US s largest foreign supplier of energy, including oil, gas, uranium,
and electric power. (CIA Factbook) Without these natural resources being imported,

What Every Senior Should Know About Reverse Mortgage
When a family purchases a home, they generally do so as an investment in their future. The home

NAEYC Guidelines For Affective Development
Affective development can be defined as the emergence of the emotional capacity to experience,
recognize, and express a range of emotions to adequately response to emotional cues of others. Adults
play a very important role in the affective development in children. Now more than ever, children are
being raised in a very unpredictable world. Adults are now taking on a much greater challenge when
working with young children to help set the foundation for affective development. When it comes to
the educational side of affective development, teachers are given NAEYC guidelines to help in their
decision making. These guidelines are designed to promote competent young children. It is very
important when teaching or caring for children that we offer them a caring community to learn
(Charlesworth, 2014). The foundation of the community is consistent, positive, caring relationships
between adults and children, among children, among teachers and between teachers and families
(Charlesworth, 2014). What this ultimately means as a teacher, is that you need to provide to these
children a safe and secure place to learn. It is also very important to keep in mind that teaching is
about enhancing development, and ensuring that students know that you genuinely respect, and want
what s best for them. When teachers get to know their students, they can plan more individually based
on their specific needs. They are able to better prepare themselves to provide the students with the

Taking a Look at Welding
If I lived back in the wild west days, instead of carrying a six gun in my holster, I d carry a soldering
iron. That way, if some smart Aleck cowboy said something like Hey, look. He s carrying a soldering

quiet and ashamed, because they had made fun of the soldering iron of justice, and I could probably

Pro Life Vs. Pro-Choice
In today s society, there is a huge discussion called, Pro Life vs Pro Choice . This debate is essentially
over whether a woman should have the right to do what she wishes to her body. The majority of all
abortion procedures are within the first trimester of pregnancy. This means there is no harm done to
the fetus because it is only in the first stages of its growth. It is a known fact that if politicians pass
laws against abortions, it will not stop the procedures from happening. If anything, it will increase the
number of deaths in women due to illegal and unsanitary abortions.
In 1973, there was a case that went to the Supreme Court called Roe v. Wade . In the case, it was ruled
that the Fourteenth Amendment gave women the fundamental

Online Cash Advance Lenders Make a Mockery of Bans by States
A recent Washingtontimes.com article explored online lending and state bans of cash advance
companies operating within their jurisdictions. The article mentioned that many of these lenders get
around bans by ignoring state caps on interest rates and other regulations. Without storefront options,
cash advance lenders can still advertise online to deliver quick cash directly to borrowers bank
accounts even these kinds of loans are banned in the state. However, Google s decision to ban payday
lending ads could affect how these companies reach customers. Google recently decided to ban loan
advertising for loans with APRs higher than 36 percent according to a report from Theguardian.com.
Despite state bans and fewer advertising opportunities to reach consumers, most people can still
search for these types of loans in browser based organic searches, and all evidence suggests that they
will continue doing so. Banned lenders simply find other ways to promote their products and market
loans directly to consumers in areas where their storefront operations are banned. Millennials
especially respond well to alternative financial services such as payday loans and pawnshop
borrowing according to research reported by Nationalpawnbrokers.org. Native American tribes often
partner with online lenders to offer loans to consumers in states where the industry is banned.

In this paper, Nyerere s views on education are examined with a view to determine the extent of their
relevance to contemporary theory of education in Kenya. This analysis is concerned with 3 aspects.
First, an exploration of possible theoretical contexts of his views on education is undertaken with a
view to obtaining a basis for an intelligible discussion. Second, an examination of education for self
reliance is undertaken. This is followed by an analysis of education for liberation as espoused by
Nyerere. This is followed by a delineation of salient views that can enrich contemporary education in
Kenya. Theoretical framework The liberal theory Liberalism envisions the ideal society to be one that
embraces a wide range of individual liberties. These include, personal dignity, free expression,
religious tolerance, right to own property, freedom of association, transparency of government,
limitations on government power, the rule of law, equality, free market economy and free trade
(Wikipedia,http://en.wikipedia.org/Liberalisms). It is incumbent upon government to uphold these
freedoms in order to guarantee stability and peace. In addition, liberalism tends to encourage
representative democratic governance. Here, the elected representatives are guided by the rule of law
under the overall guidance of the constitution. Enshrined in the constitution are

  • 2. Mr. Fox Begins Essay In life, we are susceptible to danger just about everywhere we go. Most people avoid danger at all costs, however there are certain dare devils who will face danger head on. Have you ever wondered if some people willingly put themselves in dangerous situations just to explore their curiosity? If you had to take a guess, would you guess that men or women are more likely to willingly enter dangerous situations? People will face danger for many different reasons, some because they are not at all aware of the potential danger, and others do because their temptation is too strong. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Was St. John Fox intent on speaking specifically to Mary Foxe on the plane ride? Or did Mary Foxe just happen to be in the right place and at the right time? The way he enters the scene in the novel is particularly strange and seems to alarm Mary Foxe. She describes his appearance like this It seemed as he had addressed the words to me, so I opened my eyes. He was sitting to my right, his whole body turned toward me, his chin on his fist as he studied me. I hadn t heard or felt him draw near (Oyeyemi 149). The way St. John Fox snuck up on Mary Foxe so quietly appeared to startle her, even though his intentions only appear to be to engage in casual conversation by mentioning Only two hours until landing (Oyeyemi 149). Was this conversation accidental or planned? His seemingly unimportant comment wasn t what appeared to bother Mary Foxe. While describing his looks from her initial glance up at him, she said He was good looking. Enough to make me feel uncomfortable. Tall and dark, etc. (Oyeyemi 149). Mary Foxe specifically stated that St. John Fox made her feel uncomfortable solely based off of his looks, proving the earlier alternate interpretation of the chapter to be correct that she did at one point see potential danger in St. John Fox. However, there is no strong evidence to support that she was extremely bothered by slyness. These men were very intelligent and creative and like to think outside the box when it comes to math, science, and astronomy. All three men were in a way connect to another through their works. Let s take a deeper look into the lives of these three men. We can start with Galileo an Italian astronomer. He is known for a few things such as the Copernican theory which basically is the theory that supports sun centered solar system. Newton s three laws were one every object in motion stays in motion until acted upon by force, the second is force equals mass times acceleration, and the third is to every action there is an opposite reaction. He also wrote gradational theory with the help of Kepler s previous work. He became inspired by the sight of seeing a falling apple. This got him curious and wanted to know more. It was a battle fought between right around 70,000 U.S. soldiers and about 20,000 Japanese soldiers. Three divisions of U.S. Marines invaded the island with one goal, to capture the Japanese airfields. This battle was a huge turning point in World War II and helped end the war. The battle of Iwo Jima happened because the location of the island was tactically important. Iwo Jima was close enough to the main island of Japan that the U.S. could send fighter jets with bombers to bomb the main island. There were three airfields which could be used for emergency landing bases during the bombing runs. He was a benevolent boss. CASE ANALYSIS 1. The main reason for the decaying employee morale was the quick growth of the business. Dr. Perry s employees were well compensated at competitive market rates and enjoyed a pleasant working environment. The annual growth of the business (15%) meant that his employees were making relatively less money than Dr. Perry himself. The current pay structure did not have any provision for any category of employees to earn a proportion of the profits. Every employee has a fixed hourly salary. Thus, a bigger business meant that they felt like slave labourers since they were aware of the increase in the practice s revenues and number of patients. 2. Dr. Perry s revenues largely depended on the hygienists who generated about 40% of the revenues. Even the receptionists played a vital role in adding to the revenue by filling in cancelled appointments. His assistants too contributed by playing the role of nurses by comforting the patients which further helped in patient retention. Thus it would seem only fair that a part of the profits must be shared with the employees in the form of a variable pay structure. 3. As per the conference which Dr. Perry had attended, the first approach of remunerating the employees focused on the contribution of the hygienists only. As per this approach, the hygienists would be paid purely on a commission basis of around 40% of the total earnings. The main

Thus, they have to be very team centered (to analyze the information and to translate it into new products and services), and they have to have a great deal of leeway with respect to decision making and authority (to respond promptly to customer needs). A growing and successful construction company prided itself on building expensive homes geared to client needs and adaptable to client wants. However, client requirements were initially not addressed in depth, methods to solicit this information were not developed (e.g., the use of software that would enable clients to imagine being inside the house as it was being built), contact was initiated only when another payment was due, and only the owner could fix the final price of the house. The net result was that the owner, in effect, convinced buyers what they should want, thereby dramatically increasing the number of client initiated changes as the clients along the way became clearer about what they wanted. Information about customer initiated changes was frequently communicated incorrectly or late to the field, even more increasing construction costs due to the need to undo work that had been already completed. • 22. The Cardiovascular System Is A Very Complex System In That The cardiovascular system is a very complex system in that includes not only the main organ the heart, but also the arteries, veins, and capillaries as well, and even the liver. So, one questions a lot of people may ask is how does the heart work in order to keep us alive day in and day out. Well, that answer is quite simple the heart pumps blood through the superior and inferior vena cava and it then pumps to the lungs to pick up oxygen and then back out through the aorta to the rest of the body. However, if someone wants to know the details and complexity of the heart, it would be like this. So there are multiple chambers in the heart. A person can experience many different types of diseases and problems when it comes to the heart some of the major ones would include myocardial infarctions, Congestive heart failure, and heart disease are some of the leading heart issues today. Essay on Evaluation of The Silence Of The Lambs Evaluation of The Silence Of The Lambs The film which I am evaluating is called The Silence of the Lambs and is based on Thomas Harris novel and is directed by Jonathan Demme. The film was shot in Pittsburgh and is set in West Virginia. In the making of this film careful research was carried out in bringing each character to life especially Jame Buffalo Bill Gumb. This included the actors being at crime scenes and viewing files about previous serial killers in order to fit into their characters properly. Quantitative studies are objective and considered to be a hard science which is measurable, and suitable to establish cause and effect relationships (Anderson, 2006). Like American citizens, illegal immigrants may pay local, state, and federal taxes including sales tax that helps support government services that they may not be able to access (Ewing 9). Since more American citizens are becoming aware of the benefits of an education, openings are being created for illegal immigrants in low paying jobs (Nadadur 1037 1052). Americans, unlike illegal immigrants, have more diverse careers. Aliens are more concentrated in specific job areas, resulting in a decrease in immigrant labor cost. This helps boost the United States economy (Carter 777 795). Of the approximate eleven million illegal immigrants in the U.S., most work in labor intensive jobs. Careers such as construction and agriculture tend to attract illegal aliens and they account for about twenty five percent of the work force in these areas (Ewing 9). Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve admits that illegal immigrants help improve the United States economy and does not suggest turning them away (qtd. in Quindlen 90). Anna Quindlen, in her article Newcomers By Numbers, agrees with Bernanke and believes that immigrants are the factor that helps keep prices low. Significance The 16th century witch hunts resulted in the deaths of nearly 50,000 people. The majority of the accused and sentenced were poor and elderly women who did not have a stable place in society. It is theorized that the witchcraft hysteria was in response to women s growing role in society. During the 16th century, single, unmarried and independent women represented a societal shift that a large portion of the population was uncomfortable with. The result was genocide and what some have called a holocaust. Society, including women, rejected the notion of unmarried women living alone, without a husband or family, or women who did not go to church and abide by prevailing social norms. In the 17th century, the presence of witches reached incredible attention with accusations and executions of people accused of witchcraft. The fear caused by these trials and executions spurred many people to become the accuser rather than become the accused. The snowball effect this caused culminated in a mass hysteria in Europe and the colonies. Today, it is speculated that many of the people who were accused and ultimately executed for witchcraft were innocent. History Witchcraft has long been a part of our world s history. Despite state bans and fewer advertising opportunities to reach consumers, most people can still search for these types of loans in browser based organic searches, and all evidence suggests that they will continue doing so. Banned lenders simply find other ways to promote their products and market loans directly to consumers in areas where their storefront operations are banned. Millennials especially respond well to alternative financial services such as payday loans and pawnshop borrowing according to research reported by Nationalpawnbrokers.org. First, an exploration of possible theoretical contexts of his views on education is undertaken with a view to obtaining a basis for an intelligible discussion. Second, an examination of education for self reliance is undertaken. This is followed by an analysis of education for liberation as espoused by Nyerere. This is followed by a delineation of salient views that can enrich contemporary education in Kenya.
