Pathos In Nick Naylor
Evaluation
Nick Naylor is a lobbyist for cigarettes. He battles everyone who is anti cigarette. Mr. Naylor runs into
trouble in many different ways for defending the rights of smokers. Along the way, Nick twists some
words and becomes the hot topic on TV and in Hollywood. Nick defends against many things thrown
at him. Things such as a cancer boy, the Marlboro man and even the loss of his job. Nick Naylor is
effective and persuasive in argumentation. Mr. Naylor does a great job displaying ethos, logos, and
pathos. Each one of these appeals are important in the use of argumentation. Mr. Naylor is also
effective with fallacies, and even though what he is saying might not be true, it is effective. At the
beginning of the movie, Nick Naylor uses pathos. In the movie the anti tobacco people tried to make
Nick Naylor the bad guy. They brought out a boy that had cancer and tried to make him look bad.
Pathos specifically is trying to draw the emotion sympathy out of the audience. The audience was then
given an option on who to blame. The person they chose was Nick. Effectively, Nick Naylor diverted
the negative press away from him and toward the senator s assistant. Even though Nick was being
bashed by these people he maintained his stance. One thing I noticed about Nick is that he always
presents himself with a smile and with a positive message. He effectively uses pathos by using
positive vibes and then drawing them out from the audience. Also at the beginning of the

Socialism In The Jungle, By Upton Sinclair
Socialism Throughout The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, he portrays that capitalism is the cause of all
evils in society. No matter how hard Jurgis and his family worked and tried, they were still stuck in the
same squalor. Sinclair uses the life of Jurgis s family, an immigrant family, to indicates that capitalism
is bad, unfair, deceitful, untrust, inhuman, and violent. In Sinclair s point of view, socialism is as
remedy for the evils of capitalism. Jurgis s family would have fared better under socialism than under
capitalism. Sinclair portrays his view through the factories conditions and how it only cared about
gaining benefits regardless the workers health and safety, as well as the customers . The work
condition in Packing Town is filled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did John Locke Influence Society
Who gave us new ways of thinking and played a role in the foundation of our country? There are
many people that influenced our country and gave new ways of thinking, but there are a few
unexpected players that most do not acknowledge and appreciate. The Enlightenment was a period in
time from 1685 1815, where there was a drastic change in people s views towards subjects such as
philosophy, politics and science. It was an extension of the progress of the Reformation and the
Renaissance. It did this by continuing to extinguish the medieval perspectives towards life which were
that the church ruled over every aspect of life and people were restricted. New ways of thinking came
into play such as equality, logic, and freedom from the church, ... Show more content on

John Locke comparatively had more of a positive spin on things than Hobbes. Locke proposed the
thought that all people were born with natural rights, these natural rights being life, liberty, and
property. The government should agree to serve the people and make sure that they would be provided
with these rights. Locke urged if these rights had not been met by the government, the people had the
right to rebel and overthrow the government. Locke s theory got a lot of attention because as he said in
his book Second Treatise of Government that New opinions are always suspected, and usually
opposed, without any reason but because they are not common. He feels that government was
unnecessary because in his perspective, everyone was born with a clean slate and that if someone was
evil, it was the world that made them evil they were not born that way. John Locke s views influenced
famous documents, including the Declaration of Independence. In the Declaration of Independence it
includes Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which is based on John Locke s interpretation of
life that humans were all born as almost a blank page with no identity and the world and their lives
create their interests, intentions and everyone was given the power to the basic rights of

Racial Identity And Race And Ethnicity
Daily, people in America are categorized by their physical characteristics, lumped together as one
group, and labelled with a race. Most assume that race and ethnicity have virtually the same definition
and use the two terms interchangeably; however, ethnicity and race are two extremely diverse
concepts that are frequently misconstrued by the general public. Race is the idea that people who look
similar share similar backgrounds; however, genetically, this is not always the case. More accurately,
ethnicity acknowledges both where a person comes from and their beliefs, practices, and cultural
aspects (INSERT book CITATION).
By what people typically think and classify others as, I would be seen as white. Obviously, this is my
racial identity and not my ethnicity. If someone was to ask me what my ethnicity is, I could not give a
simple answer. Through generations, my ethnicity is rooted in several different cultures, specifically
Irish, Scottish, English, German, and Jewish. Out of the five, I most strongly identify with my German
heritage. Without asking me, though, some people would never know from which countries my
ancestors came to the United States.
Up until a few years ago, I was not even aware that my German ethnicity was the most prominent of
my ethnicities, even though Germans make up the majority of non Hispanic European descents, I
could have never guessed that I was predominately Germanic. (book citation). My father actually

The Origins Of Structural Anthropology
Ari Lotter
Ms. Kasurak

Claude Levi Strauss
THE ORIGINS OF STRUCTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY
Structural analysis, at its core, is an attempt to comprehend things beyond the system of human
understanding. It s meant to be an objective, purely scientific approach untarnished by human cultural
and social systems. Claude Lévi Strauss saw this pure science being applied in linguistics, among the
social sciences, and applied its objective principles and methods to anthropology. Structural linguistics
is a method of analyzing languages, broken down into signs, both syntactically and lexically. Signs, in
a structural context, are associations between concepts and means of expressing those concepts.
Comparing opposed syntagma and signs in this exploded arrangement permits understanding of
linguistic associations (syntax, etc.). By examining the paradigmatic relations between signs, and
diachronic syntagmatic configurations (something Lévi Strauss applied heavily in his theories about
structural mythology), a basic objective understanding of the langue in question can be gleaned from
examples of its verbiage.
Ferdinand de Saussure, the linguist who explained language as a structure of signs, developed his ideal
method of a purely analytical science of linguistics in part because he was aware of the impossibility
of understanding exactly how the human mind creates and understands language. By approaching
language from a structuralist point of view, he was attempting to

Similarities Between Shinto And Shinto Religion
Of the many religions in the world, none are quite as unique as Shintoism. Shinto, meaning the way of
the kami , is the indigenous religion of Japan. It is believed to have existed since the 6th century
B.C.E. However, there is no documented origin nor is there an established founder. At the center of the
Shinto religion is devotion toward various kami and the rituals performed to please them. It does not
attempt to explain existence or the afterlife. Instead, Shintoism focuses on interactions with kami and
life presently. Unlike most Western religions, there is no all powerful god/gods in Shintoism. All
beings (kami or human) are complementary and harmonious with one another. This emphasis on
harmony is found throughout Shinto culture, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to purify himself, he washes off in a body of water which creates more kami in the process.
From his left eye the Sun Goddess, Amaterasu, is born. From his right eye the moon deity, Tsukuyomi,
is born. And from his nose the storm deity, Susanoo, is born. After years of fighting amongst the
people of Japan, Amaterasu sent he grandson, Ninigi, to unite the Japanese people. He became the first
emperor of Japan, which established the divinity the role of emperor had.
PRACTICES
Apart from subservience to the emperor, there are no set theological beliefs or moral standards in
Shinto. Humans are thought to be naturally good with all worldly evil being attributed to bad kami.
Worship and respect shown towards kami will bring purity and goodness to individuals. Shinto
worship is mainly conducted through ritualistic means. Some of these rituals are performed to gain the
favor of specific kami. However, most rituals are performed for spiritual purification to ward off evil
kami. Shrines are the primary location where rituals take place. Shrines are built to house one or more
kami. It is here that Shintoists may pay respects to specific kami. These shrines can be found
throughout the country and even in most Japanese homes. Dissimilarly to other religions, there is no
set time to visit shrines. People set out on their own schedule or when festivals occur. These ventures,

Distraction Of Technology Essay
The Distraction of Technology
While Technology gives us many opportunities, it is a major distraction because it causes distractions
in the classroom, dangers while driving, and weakens in person relationships. So with all the
opportunities technology gives us, why are we so distracted? How does it affect students learning
ability? What type of threat to our safety does it pose while driving? How does it affect our in person
relationships? Technology distracts students from their education because it causes them to be more
plugged into their devices than their education lower their grades. A paper published by the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology found that students barred from using digital devices or laptops
in lectures did better on their exams than those using computers and access the internet. The study also
found that forty seven percent of heavy technology users were found to have poor grades. So is it just
college students that technology is affecting? Data from iKeepSafe, shows that twenty eight percent of
teens say their digital engagement interferes with schoolwork. So from the data found in many studies

The Big Man And Chiefdom Societies In New Guinea
In the big man and chiefdom societies, gift giving is sometimes used as a means of attack to gain
personal prestige. The Kwakiutl are a prime example as well as various groups in New Guinea.
According to the lecture notes, the way it works is the citizens of the Big Man societies come and pay
their debt to their leader, then are invited to a huge feast in which the leader gives all that he has
received away to everyone, rich or poor. He becomes known as a generous leader and gains respect
and admiration from his followers. The Big Man societies follow the rule that the more prestige you
gain, the higher your political power and status will be. The chiefdoms, however, do not follow this
rule. Instead, they follow a ranked system based on the

Pros And Cons Of The American Constitution
The American Constitution, is a document that was drafted in July of 1787 to replace The Articles of
Confederation. The Constitution created a national government and established major laws to benefit
America. Along with these impressive actions, our Founding Fathers made sure this document
contained the ability for each individual citizen of America to have basic guaranteed rights. This
should stand for all citizens, not only those who are natural born. The Constitution, leaving out equal
opportunity and equal rights to those not born in America, essentially makes the document unfitting
for our current government and society. The Constitution has been amended and ratified twenty seven
times. For our country s current situation and diverse population, it is important that a Twenty Eighth
Amendment be put into place to give all citizens, natural born or not, all basic rights.
Although, this amendment does not directly benefit myself, I intend to amend Article 2 Section 1 of
The Constitution for the rights of my fellow Americans. This article states: that anyone born beyond
the seas is not eligible to run for presidency unless both his birth parents are citizens of the United
States. I believe this unfair and unfit article should be amended to give any citizen living in the
country for a minimum of 30 years even if the individual was born in and lived in another country.
Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution is states: No person except a natural born

Mrs Perez
The story Mrs. Perez , by Oscar Casares, gives the reader a real taste of the main character s life, Mrs.
Perez, through flashbacks, the use of the Spanish language, and the dynamic of her family life. The
author s use of literary devices such as, the use of Spanish and flashbacks, creates a real believable
character. Casares gives the reader a real slice of life in this story. Realism is a major key to writing
excellent excerpts. It gives the reader the ability to relate and sympathize with the story and
characters. To begin with, the main protagonist, Lola Perez, is a believable character because of the
frequent use of Spanish. Presently, in the story, when the audience meets Mrs. Perez, they find her
coming home after getting her hair done to being robbed; When she unlocked the front door, she

The concept of death does not romanticize the married life of living happily together forever; They
held each other... walked away from (Casares 8). This quote shows the reader the sadness that comes
from a death of a loved one. It adds onto the realism because it shows the raw pain of death. The use
of flashbacks makes Mrs. Perez more realistic. This is because the memories that Lola thinks of are
not very pleasant. The majority of the flashbacks portrayed in Casares short stories involved the anger
and controlling demeanor of Augustin. Her husband even though now passed, was kind of controlling
in their married life. A quote that displays an unpleasant memory states, No, Lola, you re going to stop
all of that ahorita mero (Casares 7). This quote shows that although Mrs. Perez was merely collecting
urine samples for her job, her husband still does not want his wife to take part in such activities. At the

Greek, India, and China Contributions
Today, our lives are based on technology. We have computers, iPods, phones, televisions, etc... but,
what about the unnoticeable contributions that affect us more than we could imagine. The screw for
example. The screw is everywhere around us. In fact its in your computers, televisions, iPods, and
phones. The screw holds your more significant objects together in place. Like the screw the
contributions of Greece, India, and China all have an impact on us today but it goes unnoticeable. All
of these civilizations were created around the same time and fell around the same time period. Even
though all these civilizations took place in around the same time period they all have very different
impacts on the world we have today. In the times of Ancient Greece, India, and China there were
numerous contributions that influenced us today, but, Greece had more contributions in math and
medicine that lead them to have the greatest overall impact on us today. Greece has contributed a lot to
society today in the medical field and in mathematics. Starting with medicine, the modern day medical
symbol was derived from Greece. The god Asclepius (the god of health) thought snakes were holy so
he created the medical symbol we know of today of a staff coiled around a staff with wings (Michael
and Woods, Ancient medicine: from sorcery to surgery, 56). Hippocrates was a great Greek physician
and was known as the father of medicine. Hippocrates introduced a scientific way to find out how to

The Democracy Of A Democratic Government
A democratic government is one in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by
them directly or indirectly through a system of representation (Merriam Webster). In theory, a true
democracy is one that is governed by the people in the form of the rule of the majority . This is a
process that seems to have been naturally embedded in the human mind. In many circumstance,
whether it is world leaders deciding on new international policy, or kids choosing what to watch for
movie night , the rule of the majority seems to often prevail. Even so, in certain recognized democratic
nations such as Canada, the rule of the majority is not triumphant. It is inevitable that any political
system would have its shortcomings, but there are some flaws that are difficult to overlook especially
those that seem to undermine the democratic credibility of a nation. Due to a variety of factors, such
as politically inactive citizens and a not so representative electoral system, it is evident that the
Canadian democracy is lacking democracy.
By international standards, the Canadian democratic system is considered healthy; Canada regularly
receives the maximum score on global assessments of civil liberties, political rights and overall quality
of democracy. (Gidengil 2014, pg.3). For some, an evaluation like this is the only thing needed to be
convinced that the democracy in this country is sound. Unfortunately, such assessments merely
analyze the system from a distance,

Beethoven s 9th Symphony Analysis
This production of Beethoven s 9th Symphony was presented by the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra in
conjunction with The Lubbock Chorale and The Texas Tech University Choir. The performance was
held in the Lubbock Civic Center Theatre on October 13th and 14th at 7:30p.m. As a performer in the
University Choir, I was required to attend and perform both nights which allowed me the opportunity
to observe two different audiences. The audience on the night of the 13th was obviously better
prepared to handle such a long and mercurial major work. This was evident in the audience s reactions
to the ends of movements. The long standing and unwritten rule of waiting until the end of a major
work to clap was followed silently and diligently. This audience was mostly made up of adults
obviously over the age of fifty that are regular attendees and patrons of the Lubbock Symphony
Orchestra. Following thereafter in group size were the students, specifically Texas Tech and
surrounding area high school students. At this performance the amount of attending children was few
to none, as I could not see or hear any. The second audience mimicked the preceding audience in size
and age, however, this audience s reaction of clapping at the end of movements was highly undesired
by the performers, Maestro Cho, and the remaining members of the audience that understand the
unwritten rules of attending these types of concerts.
These types of reactions by inexperienced audiences make listening to or concentrating on great
performances of beautiful music very difficult. Not only do these translate to distractions for the
performers, but applause betwixt the movements can interrupt the flow of the work and thwart the
intended effect that the composer and conductor wish to have on the audience. This audience reaction
can also take away and distract from the atmosphere of the performance, which, in this case was a
relatively small and intimate concert hall.
Because this concert was only a performance of Beethoven s 9th Symphony, I will react to movements
two and four, the Scherzo and Recitative respectively. The Scherzo (second) movement was
characterized by Beethoven s ability to keep the constant presto eighth note motive throughout the

John Bowlby
In the introduction to one of his many books, John Bowlby quotes Graham Greene; Unhappiness in a
child accumulates because he sees no end to the dark tunnel. The thirteen weeks of a term may just as
well be thirteen years. It is quite clear that John s childhood was not a happy one. He experienced
many years of separation from family and it can be connected as to why he developed the theory of
attachment.
Edward John Mostyn Bowlby, known as John Bowlby, was born in 1907 in London as the fourth of
six children. His parents were Sir Anthony Bowlby and Lady May Bowlby. John Bowlby was from an
upper class wealthy family. They raised their children to be strong with strict discipline. Showing

His new theory stated that infants are social from a very young age, 6 months to less than two years
old. The infants become focused on a particular individual or a few individuals. Bowlby s aim was to
discover the consequences of difficulties in forming attachments in childhood, and the effects this
would have on an infant s later development. He came up with the idea that infants develop a close
emotional bond with an attachment figure early in life, and that the success or failure of this earliest of
relationships lead the infant to form a mental representation that would have profound effects on their
later relationships and their own success as a parent ( Attachment Theory, 2011).
Although Bowlby was raised in a traditional way for upper class people one could come to the
conclusion that the lack of relationships can be damaging. His theory emphasizes the importance of
the mother and infant bond. Bowlby s relationship with his own mother seemed to be negative. When
he did have an interaction with her, it was in short periods of time. The only relationship he had with
his mother was, therefore, negative. He received no attention or affection from his mother. He also
never received attention from his father, who I think could be a figure in infant s life if the mother is
not there. This relationship was also negative. The upper class did not view affection in a positive
light.
As an infant John was never able to form this attachment to

Jardim Gramacho Essay
The upper class society of Brazil gives Jardim Gramacho a bad name, one that Muniz disputes,
emphasizing it as a place for the lower class. Jardim Gramacho is seen as a place for people of low
quality and for the those who have nothing to lose or left to give, but by Muniz using the garbage and
other materials found around Jardim Gramacho, he displays how beautiful this wasteland is and how
important the people who live there are. When talking to his wife Muniz says, Check out the
geography of this thing. This is the end of the line, this is where everything that is not good goes.
Including the people. (Wasteland) By saying this Muniz is implying that living in Jardim Gramacho is
depicted as a negative place and people that are not fortunate to have money or have nothing left to
live for are condemned to living there and are seen by the outside society as bad or worthless lives.
The reason fom Muniz creating his sculptures out of the garbage from Jardim Gramacho is to show
that there is something beautiful within the garbage which is the people. For example, one of the
sculptures Muniz creates is of a man named Zumbi. The sculpture shows Zumbi smiling throwing
grain out of one of the bag that the packers carry around. In the documentary Zumbi says, Before

Essay on Self-Esteem
Self Esteem over Logic and Beliefs
Columbia College, Missouri
Abstract
Self Esteem gives a person the right to value themselves. Our self esteem sometimes overpowers our
logic, and can lead us to act in ways that are not always our own. This paper examines how the
following theories; Theory of Cognitive Dissonance, Self Evaluation Maintenance Theory, Self
Affirmation Theory, Rationalization Trap and Self Discrepancy Theory impact a person s self esteem
decisions. Where people in different cases come to realize that the choices they have made overpower
their superior perfect logic, they have to deal with the consequences that come along with the choices
they have made.

This clearly shows how elements of life depend on the type of knowledge and wisdom used. When we
use this knowledge and wisdom, we can better the strategies we have so that we can achieve more. It
should also be stated that individuals have different ways of looking at conflicts or situations. Because
of this vast difference, the way they accomplish tasks differs as well. Note that when someone does
not carry out his strategies well, they are bound to fail.
Theory of Cognitive Dissonance Cognitive dissonance can be defined as a feeling of discomfort
caused by performing an action that runs counter to one s customary (typically positive) conception of
oneself (Aronson, Wilson amp; Akert, 2010). The body s natural way of keeping one s self esteem
high is to counteract that by either changing our actions or to talk ourselves into believing that what
we have done was the right thing to do in the moment (2010). For example, a female student chooses
to take a job stripping in a night club after spending three months looking for a job. She struggles with
this decision mentally because she was raised in a strict, religious household. Her up bringing and the
need to pay tuition become two points that challenge her positive self esteem. The female student will
make concessions to her beliefs to keep her self esteem high saying things like this is my only choice

The Is A Efficient Mode Of Transportation
Over the years, cycling has been proven to be the cleanest and most efficient mode of transportation,
which explains the increasing demand to further develop its sustainability (Tripodi 2015, p. 143). Bike
sharing systems have provided a means of transportation in dense cities with their minor infrastructure
requirements and promise of a cleaner future. Public bicycle programs have grown in popularity in
recent years because of their initiatives to increase cycle usage, the benefit of connectivity without the
troubles of personal vehicles, and the decrease of environmental impacts as a result of our transport
activities (DeMaio 2009, p. 41). The original concept of these systems had many flaws, but as
technology has developed to improve the tracking system, rapid expansion continues throughout
Europe and across the globe. With growing climate change and the dependence on oil becoming more
of a problem, people are beginning to look towards more responsible ways of living (Vidalis, et al.
2010, p. 1). Driving less is one of the easiest ways to reduce one s carbon footprint, and is a key factor
in the success surrounding increased cycling. In the U.S., over 50 percent of all car trips are five miles

Comparing Hughes And Tennyson s The Charge Of The Light...
1) It is true that the man of 20th century described by Wolfe is different from the man from Jane Eyre.
Wolfe present at us 3 man from the 20th century: Peter Walsh, Richard and Septimus. First, Peter
Walsh is a middle aged man who appeared to have wasted his life by accomplishing nothing and not
having the same social class position as Hugh or Richard. He has no wife, but an affair with a younger
woman than him in India. He is still in love with Clarissa, and does not understand why Clarissa
married Richard instead of him. He does not take conscious of his own flaw which are his indigence

In Tennyson s poem The Charge of the Light Brigade, tells about the charge on the English army to go
recuperate weaponry that their adversary stole, so they charge into valley of Death knowing they could
die due to fact they do not have weapons. The captain make an order can no one dare to make a reply ,
to reason why , but to die and to die. When we read the first line, a reasonable comment should be that
those soldiers are foolish to go to war even though they know that they will fail or rather die.
However, for Tennyson it is not the case, this charge is patriotic and of common sense when their
glory fade? He even congratulates them for their act Honour the light Brigade. We thus see for
Tennyson die for one country, whether the circumstances, is a good thing to do. In addition, for
Kipling s poem If who is more sentimental pass through the advice of father to his son and assumption
in which one is required to take action in honor of the country. He clearly incites Englishmen to enlist
to the army to battle for England. Notwithstanding, the element which is peculiar is that he clearly
incites the English to go colonize and reign on India. Yours is the Earth and everything that s in it.
Contrary to other works of Kipling as Wee Willie Winkee and The One Who Will Be King wherein he
seemed to sympathize and want peace to the Indians, in If we no longer see this noble wish but the
domination. In McCrae s poem In Flanders Field, appears to states two point of view. One Is that
enemy went on a village and kill people, so he incites the people on village to go revenge them by
being a soldier. Hence, he had the same idea as Kipling and Tennyson to incite people fight for tee
country. Second, perspective conversely to the former poem hitherto is that in which way the people in

Analysis Of Joseph Miller s Slaving As Historical Process
In his work, Slaving as Historical Process: Examples from the Ancient Mediterranean and the Modern
Atlantic, Joseph Miller proposes that slavery is a byproduct arising from specifiable tensions within
larger and more complex historical processes. However, I would continue this argument by adding
those processes are often rooted in a society s attempt to propel itself to economically and culturally
flourish, often at the expense of human beings. Furthermore, while there are recurring patterns of
enslavement in these societies, the specific context and degree that each slave system was
implemented in affects the conditions, justification, and abolition of enslavement in Ancient Rome,
Nineteenth Century American South, and contemporary Dubai.
Ancient Rome spanned from 753 B.C to 476 A.D. While there is no single historical context that led
to the use of slaves, the constant expansion of the empire led to both the demand and supply of labor.
Thus, slaves became the backbone of the Ancient Roman Empire. Making up one third of the
population during the reign of Trajan, 98 A.D 117 A.D., they enhanced Rome both economically and
culturally. When the military would take over an area they would sell the inhabitants to Roman
citizens and make a profit for the state. This constant influx of free labor allowed ... Show more

What It Means To Be Grateful
What does it mean to be grateful? Why do we need to be grateful? As a Christian why is it important
to be grateful? Based on what we have done for the past week, which is writing down what we were
grateful each day, I have learned to look at life a little differently. Gratitude is not just an expression. It
is not temporary feeling. I have learned that gratitude is something much more permanent and
everlasting. Gratitude is a genuine feeling that can help you look at the world in a whole new beautiful
world. Gratitude can make this ugly world beautiful. In the week where I was inputting into a journal
what I am grateful for, has been a week of pure joy and amazement. I was able to look at my day and
really reflect on what effect of what people have on me and what effect I have on them. For example,
on Saturday I wrote that someone held my door without me realizing it. I was just really grateful that
someone took their time out of their day just to provide that act of service in my life. It makes me look
at the little things and appreciate people in a different way. I was able to stop looking at the big picture

Research Paper On The Birth Of Islam

The Birth of Muhammad and Islam
The Islamic religion is not only a religion, but a complex lifestyle full of dynamic truth which has a
past that spans over fourteen centuries. It s history encompasses the ancient spirits of people from
North Africa as far as Malaysia. Islam is also one of the youngest major religions as the Qur an came
down to Muhammad six centuries after Jesus, so that a large portion of the developed world which it
soon overran had been evangelized for centuries (Burrell 1). Although Islam was budding, it has
grown into one of the world s largest religions having a following of over one billion. Islam is known
to be the fastest growing faith worldwide, and in recent years has made striking advances in North
America (3). The rapid expansion of the community of Believers after Muhammad s death has its
roots in the events of the last years of his life ( Donner 92). Islam can be abridged into three
timeframes that are as follows; The Time of Ingratitude, Muhammad s life and story, and the
organizations and laws that were created after the demise of the prophet.
The holiest declaration or Shahada in Islam is There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his
messenger (Fieser 373). Islam found its origins in Arabia and it takes after every one of the standards
given by God which were translated through Muhammad. Muslims on the other hand, are the
individuals who hone this religion as

The Risk Of Individual Investments
To remedy for the latter, the risk of individual investments in the portfolio is mapped to more common
market risks when we compute VaR. Before we proceed with an example involving bonds, two terms
have to be defined: coupon bond and a zero coupon bond. A coupon bond is a debt investment in
which an investor loans money to a company for a period of time. The company, the borrower, in
return promises to make interest payments called coupons over a defined period of time and also pay
the full amount of the loan at the end of the period. A zero coupon bond on the other does not pay
coupon interest. Suppose that we want to determine the VaR of a 10 year coupon bond with annual
coupons C in our portfolio. First, we break the 10 year coupon ... Show more content on

Finally, we compute the Value at Risk by using the weights on the standardized instruments that we
previously computed. Again, before we proceed with an example involving this time forward contract,
we should define what a forward contract is and how it is used in financial markets. Futures contracts
are contractual agreement to buy or sell a particular commodity or financial asset at a predetermined
price in the future. The contract usually details the quantity and quality of the underlying asset to be
delivered in the future. Suppose now that we want to find the VaR of a six month dollar to euro
forward contract. We compute the VaR going through the following four steps: We first map the
standardized market risks and instruments underlying this security. Second, we determine the position
needed to be taken in the standardized instruments. We then estimate the variances and covariance of
these instruments and we finally compute the VaR in the forward contract.
Step 1: Again, we are looking forward to map the standardized market risks and the instruments
underlying this security. The market variables that affect the six month forward contract are the six
month risk free rate in each currency (dollar and euro) and the spot exchange rate. We hence match up
the previous market factors respectively to a six month zero coupon dollar bond, a six month zero
coupon euro bond and the spot dollar to euro.

why a game so popular could possibly be ruining the gaming industry, but it is. Cod is affecting the

Call of Duties popularity and how it achieved it s fame. Call of Duty s fourth installment Call of Duty:

Eventually, this endeavour became successful, but they were still not top dog on the gaming market
because of Halo s established hierarchy. So here was a multi platform game rivaling an exclusive
Xbox title. However, at this time, Halo remained the King of the Hill. So, through several adoptions
taken from already present games, Infinity Ward (the developers of CoD) finally felt a fit to their
game, which was applied their installment Call of Duty: Modern Warfare . This game received
massive success on release, becoming the second best selling shooter on the xbox 360, just under Halo

game unlocks to keep the player interested. Because of this success and Activision s title a year
contract, which involves two developers releasing a CoD every year, CoD quickly became the most
popular shooter on the market. So naturally, developers would use some aspects from call of duty and
include them in their very own game. Except, instead of taking just a few features, developers found
themselves painting over their entire installments with call of duty elements. Almost every developer
did this to CoD, creating carbon copies of the already aggrandized game. CoD s multiplayer has been
ripped on so much that most of modern day shooters have no variety. Other developers see the success

The Rebirth Of A Forgotten Virtue By Daniel Akst

characterization and slant of the utilization of thrift. Throughout the article, Akst gives a few
perspectives and cases of certain powerful individuals and their perspectives. Alongside the different
perspectives of the individuals, there are numerous quotes from well respected people. When Akst
uncovers his actual position on thrift towards the closure of his factious article, he trusts that thrift
makes solidness. The targeted group that Akst aims for is the general population of money spenders in
America. His intention of composing this article is to advise individuals about thrift and that by
thrifting you make budgetary opportunity. The rhetorical analysis strategies that will be exemplified
are pathos, as well as logos. Daniel Akst is successful in his contention that thrift makes opportunity
with illustrations of hurried speculations, quotes of persuasive individuals and measurable proof. The
strategy used by Akst as a part of his factious article is pathos, which is used to helped persuade his
audience through his use of logical reasoning. The use of pathos throughout the article shows faith in
how Americans burns through cash and how they ought to burn through cash. To the extent that thrift
produces wealth, it breeds envy (511). Akst is claiming that riches breeds or creates envy in everybody
naturally. Akst does not bolster his claim that riches makes

A Discussion Of Regression Results
Discussion of Regression Results
In order to empirically examine the extent to which changes in the price of chicken causes changes in
broiler (chicken) consumption, time series data was collected on 40 observations extending from 1960
to 1999 on nine explanatory variables in total. I regressed this data using an Ordinary Least Squares
(OLS) approach. The main explanatory variable used for my analysis was the consumer price index
(CPI) for whole fresh chicken with the base years denoted as the 1982 to 1984 time period. The
econometric model for my regression analysis is listed below:
Broiler Consumption = a+β_(1 ) (CPI of broilers)+ β_2 (income)+ β_3 (population)+β_(4 ) (CPI for
beef)+β_(5 ) (PPI for corn)+ β_(6 ) (NPI for broiler feed)+β_7 (CPI)+β_8 (AP of Broilers)+β_9
(population)+β_(10 ) (exports of beef,veal and pork)+ ε
Data regarding my dependent variable was originally collected as pounds consumed per capita.
However, I multiplied the per capita broiler consumption data by 100,000 to obtain broiler
consumption in pounds per 100,000 people. In this way, I was able to obtain a larger coefficient on a
few of the explanatory variables, which allowed for a more suitable display and discussion of the
results in the paper. Further, the objective of this analysis was to explain to what extent price of
broilers, represented as the consumer price index on whole fresh chicken, impacts broiler consumption
in pounds. Specifically, the coefficients on the

Instead of blanket bans in dangerous research areas, we could allow research to proceed and use
surveillance to catch bad actors and bad practices. We might even see an increase in academic
freedom.
Surveillance could also be useful in smaller, more conventional disasters. Knowing where everyone in
a city was at the moment an earthquake struck would make rescue services much more effective, and
the more cameras around when hurricanes hit, the better. Over time, all of this footage would increase
our understanding of disasters, and help us to mitigate their effects.
Indeed, there are whole new bodies of research that could emerge from the data provided by mass
surveillance. Instead of formulating theories and laboriously recruiting a biased and sometimes
unwilling group for testing, social scientists, economists and epidemiologists could use surveillance
data to test their ideas. And they could do itFROM HOME , immediately, and have access to the world

Moving To Another Country Essay
Have you ever thought about moving your whole family to another country? If you did so, what are

they have worse education and a lot of reasons that we cannot tell. After moving to another country,

differences between two of them and the most significant differences are the university life, the size
and the weather.
First is the university life. In Minnesota we can pick any subject that we feel interested in and have a
lot of activities to do with the university community. We also spend less time at school and more time
at home for homework, chores and family responsibilities. In Minnesota, the college and university

citizens. But Ho Chi Minh City on the contrary, there, we do not have choices for our subjects, we
have to pick our major as soon as we roll up for an university or a college and then we have to study
the subjects they gave us without any choice. In Ho Chi Minh City, we also have to spend a lot of time

Negative Effects Of The Fur Trade
The fur trade was damaging to most First Nations. The fur trade began with good intention and
benefited the First Nations people, however; it slowly began to negatively impact them. Due to the fur

killed many people. First Nations people began conflicts over trade goods and at times this led to

Nations profits. Another negative impact of the fur trade was small pox, which killed many First

Rivalries began to form between various First Nations. There was tension due to the fur trade, as every
First Nation was profiting differently, and trading with varying people and nations. After twenty years

Evaluation Of Huawei s Expansion Strategy
Option on Future Operations
In consideration of Huawei s expansion strategy in Canada over the last six years, Huawei has a high
competitive strength within the nation and Canada is high in attractiveness to continued operations
(Celly et al., 2015, p. 28; Daniels et al., 2015, p. 597). However, Huawei s globalization strategy
remains under pressure from the adverse effects of the U.S., Australian and Indian governments
exclusion of Huawei from government procurement (Celly et al., 2015, p. 1). Therefore, Huawei must
leverage the positive relationships and image it has built within Canada to negate the spread of the
negative brand image perpetuated by the U.S. Congress report. As such, two options are presented to
further bolster the positive image of Huawei within Canada and abroad.
The first option is to create a joint venture with Ericsson to collaborate on enterprise solutions
(Daniels et al., 2015, p. 592). Considering both organizations enterprise solutions business segments
are a relatively small portion of the businesses, it would stand to assume that together, both businesses
could develop an enterprise solutions industry through collaborative research and development (Celly

Democracy Is A Key Component Of Today s Society
The government is a crucial component of today s society. Its existence is important for a civilized

and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving
periodically held free elections (Webster Dictionary). The utmost powerful characteristic of
democracy is that people hold the ultimate power. Democracy is a government of the people, by the
people, for the people Abraham Lincoln. A democratic government allows its citizens to manage their
government through indirective or directive procedures. Such procedures include freedom of
expression, fair and competitive elections to determine the authority for political power, and certain

Why Surrogacy Is Wrong
Everyone has their own personal beliefs, values, morals and ethics regarding to surrogacy. For
instance, some may believe that surrogacy is wrong and that it exploits women while others believe
that surrogacy is a beautiful thing where a woman is able to give a gift of life to intended parents who
are unable to conceive. My personal beliefs are that surrogacy is perfectly fine and people should be
allowed to have access to surrogate services without being looked down upon. For example, I believe
that people should not say that surrogacy is wrong especially if they themselves have not experienced
infertility and even if they have, they should not relate their own personal experiences with others
since each person s life experience is unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead I would respect their wishes and support them with their journey of becoming parents through
the surrogacy process. Some of the values that a social worker may need when working with couples
wanting to access surrogacy services include acceptance, awareness, compassion, friendliness and
thoughtfulness. For instance, social workers must accept their clients wishes and decisions as well as
have awareness of what challenges their clients have been going through with infertility. Also showing
compassion, friendliness and thoughtfulness is important in order to make clients feels at ease and
comfortable with sharing personal details. Along with values, there are also some important morals for
social workers to have including being open minded where a social worker is open to seeing and
understanding different points of view including different ways that one may go about surrogacy.
Another important moral for a social worker to consider is respecting autonomy where they respect
the rights of individuals to live their lives the way they

  • 2. Pathos In Nick Naylor Evaluation Nick Naylor is a lobbyist for cigarettes. He battles everyone who is anti cigarette. Mr. Naylor runs into trouble in many different ways for defending the rights of smokers. Along the way, Nick twists some words and becomes the hot topic on TV and in Hollywood. Nick defends against many things thrown at him. Things such as a cancer boy, the Marlboro man and even the loss of his job. Nick Naylor is effective and persuasive in argumentation. Mr. Naylor does a great job displaying ethos, logos, and pathos. Each one of these appeals are important in the use of argumentation. Mr. Naylor is also effective with fallacies, and even though what he is saying might not be true, it is effective. At the beginning of the movie, Nick Naylor uses pathos. In the movie the anti tobacco people tried to make Nick Naylor the bad guy. They brought out a boy that had cancer and tried to make him look bad. Pathos specifically is trying to draw the emotion sympathy out of the audience. The audience was then given an option on who to blame. The person they chose was Nick. Effectively, Nick Naylor diverted the negative press away from him and toward the senator s assistant. Even though Nick was being bashed by these people he maintained his stance. One thing I noticed about Nick is that he always presents himself with a smile and with a positive message. He effectively uses pathos by using positive vibes and then drawing them out from the audience. Also at the beginning of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Socialism In The Jungle, By Upton Sinclair Socialism Throughout The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, he portrays that capitalism is the cause of all evils in society. No matter how hard Jurgis and his family worked and tried, they were still stuck in the same squalor. Sinclair uses the life of Jurgis s family, an immigrant family, to indicates that capitalism is bad, unfair, deceitful, untrust, inhuman, and violent. In Sinclair s point of view, socialism is as remedy for the evils of capitalism. Jurgis s family would have fared better under socialism than under capitalism. Sinclair portrays his view through the factories conditions and how it only cared about gaining benefits regardless the workers health and safety, as well as the customers . • 4. How Did John Locke Influence Society Who gave us new ways of thinking and played a role in the foundation of our country? There are many people that influenced our country and gave new ways of thinking, but there are a few unexpected players that most do not acknowledge and appreciate. The Enlightenment was a period in time from 1685 1815, where there was a drastic change in people s views towards subjects such as philosophy, politics and science. It was an extension of the progress of the Reformation and the Renaissance. It did this by continuing to extinguish the medieval perspectives towards life which were that the church ruled over every aspect of life and people were restricted. New ways of thinking came into play such as equality, logic, and freedom from the church, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John Locke comparatively had more of a positive spin on things than Hobbes. Locke proposed the thought that all people were born with natural rights, these natural rights being life, liberty, and property. The government should agree to serve the people and make sure that they would be provided with these rights. Locke urged if these rights had not been met by the government, the people had the right to rebel and overthrow the government. Locke s theory got a lot of attention because as he said in his book Second Treatise of Government that New opinions are always suspected, and usually opposed, without any reason but because they are not common. He feels that government was unnecessary because in his perspective, everyone was born with a clean slate and that if someone was evil, it was the world that made them evil they were not born that way. John Locke s views influenced famous documents, including the Declaration of Independence. • 5. Racial Identity And Race And Ethnicity Daily, people in America are categorized by their physical characteristics, lumped together as one group, and labelled with a race. Most assume that race and ethnicity have virtually the same definition and use the two terms interchangeably; however, ethnicity and race are two extremely diverse concepts that are frequently misconstrued by the general public. Race is the idea that people who look similar share similar backgrounds; however, genetically, this is not always the case. More accurately, ethnicity acknowledges both where a person comes from and their beliefs, practices, and cultural aspects (INSERT book CITATION). By what people typically think and classify others as, I would be seen as white. Obviously, this is my racial identity and not my ethnicity. If someone was to ask me what my ethnicity is, I could not give a simple answer. Through generations, my ethnicity is rooted in several different cultures, specifically Irish, Scottish, English, German, and Jewish. Out of the five, I most strongly identify with my German heritage. Without asking me, though, some people would never know from which countries my ancestors came to the United States. Up until a few years ago, I was not even aware that my German ethnicity was the most prominent of my ethnicities, even though Germans make up the majority of non Hispanic European descents, I could have never guessed that I was predominately Germanic. • 6. The Origins Of Structural Anthropology Ari Lotter Ms. Kasurak HSB4U1 26 September 2015 Claude Levi Strauss THE ORIGINS OF STRUCTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY Structural analysis, at its core, is an attempt to comprehend things beyond the system of human understanding. It s meant to be an objective, purely scientific approach untarnished by human cultural and social systems. Claude Lévi Strauss saw this pure science being applied in linguistics, among the social sciences, and applied its objective principles and methods to anthropology. Structural linguistics is a method of analyzing languages, broken down into signs, both syntactically and lexically. Signs, in a structural context, are associations between concepts and means of expressing those concepts. Comparing opposed syntagma and signs in this exploded arrangement permits understanding of linguistic associations (syntax, etc.). By examining the paradigmatic relations between signs, and diachronic syntagmatic configurations (something Lévi Strauss applied heavily in his theories about structural mythology), a basic objective understanding of the langue in question can be gleaned from examples of its verbiage. Ferdinand de Saussure, the linguist who explained language as a structure of signs, developed his ideal method of a purely analytical science of linguistics in part because he was aware of the impossibility of understanding exactly how the human mind creates and understands language. By approaching language from a structuralist point of view, he was attempting to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Pros And Cons Of The American Constitution The American Constitution, is a document that was drafted in July of 1787 to replace The Articles of Confederation. The Constitution created a national government and established major laws to benefit America. Along with these impressive actions, our Founding Fathers made sure this document contained the ability for each individual citizen of America to have basic guaranteed rights. This should stand for all citizens, not only those who are natural born. The Constitution, leaving out equal opportunity and equal rights to those not born in America, essentially makes the document unfitting for our current government and society. The Constitution has been amended and ratified twenty seven times. For our country s current situation and diverse population, it is important that a Twenty Eighth Amendment be put into place to give all citizens, natural born or not, all basic rights. Although, this amendment does not directly benefit myself, I intend to amend Article 2 Section 1 of The Constitution for the rights of my fellow Americans. Realism is a major key to writing excellent excerpts. It gives the reader the ability to relate and sympathize with the story and characters. To begin with, the main protagonist, Lola Perez, is a believable character because of the frequent use of Spanish. This is because the memories that Lola thinks of are not very pleasant. The majority of the flashbacks portrayed in Casares short stories involved the anger and controlling demeanor of Augustin. Her husband even though now passed, was kind of controlling in their married life. • 15. The Democracy Of A Democratic Government A democratic government is one in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation (Merriam Webster). In theory, a true democracy is one that is governed by the people in the form of the rule of the majority . This is a process that seems to have been naturally embedded in the human mind. In many circumstance, whether it is world leaders deciding on new international policy, or kids choosing what to watch for movie night , the rule of the majority seems to often prevail. Even so, in certain recognized democratic nations such as Canada, the rule of the majority is not triumphant. It is inevitable that any political system would have its shortcomings, but there are some flaws that are difficult to overlook especially those that seem to undermine the democratic credibility of a nation. Due to a variety of factors, such as politically inactive citizens and a not so representative electoral system, it is evident that the Canadian democracy is lacking democracy. By international standards, the Canadian democratic system is considered healthy; Canada regularly receives the maximum score on global assessments of civil liberties, political rights and overall quality of democracy. (Gidengil 2014, pg.3). For some, an evaluation like this is the only thing needed to be convinced that the democracy in this country is sound. The performance was held in the Lubbock Civic Center Theatre on October 13th and 14th at 7:30p.m. As a performer in the University Choir, I was required to attend and perform both nights which allowed me the opportunity to observe two different audiences. The audience on the night of the 13th was obviously better prepared to handle such a long and mercurial major work. This was evident in the audience s reactions to the ends of movements. The long standing and unwritten rule of waiting until the end of a major work to clap was followed silently and diligently. This audience was mostly made up of adults obviously over the age of fifty that are regular attendees and patrons of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. Following thereafter in group size were the students, specifically Texas Tech and surrounding area high school students. At this performance the amount of attending children was few to none, as I could not see or hear any. The second audience mimicked the preceding audience in size and age, however, this audience s reaction of clapping at the end of movements was highly undesired by the performers, Maestro Cho, and the remaining members of the audience that understand the unwritten rules of attending these types of concerts. These types of reactions by inexperienced audiences make listening to or concentrating on great performances of beautiful music very difficult. Not only do these translate to distractions for the performers, but applause betwixt the movements can interrupt the flow of the work and thwart the intended effect that the composer and conductor wish to have on the audience. This audience reaction can also take away and distract from the atmosphere of the performance, which, in this case was a relatively small and intimate concert hall. Because this concert was only a performance of Beethoven s 9th Symphony, I will react to movements two and four, the Scherzo and Recitative respectively. The thirteen weeks of a term may just as well be thirteen years. It is quite clear that John s childhood was not a happy one. He experienced many years of separation from family and it can be connected as to why he developed the theory of attachment. Edward John Mostyn Bowlby, known as John Bowlby, was born in 1907 in London as the fourth of six children. His parents were Sir Anthony Bowlby and Lady May Bowlby. The infants become focused on a particular individual or a few individuals. Bowlby s aim was to discover the consequences of difficulties in forming attachments in childhood, and the effects this would have on an infant s later development. He came up with the idea that infants develop a close emotional bond with an attachment figure early in life, and that the success or failure of this earliest of relationships lead the infant to form a mental representation that would have profound effects on their later relationships and their own success as a parent ( Attachment Theory, 2011). Although Bowlby was raised in a traditional way for upper class people one could come to the conclusion that the lack of relationships can be damaging. His theory emphasizes the importance of the mother and infant bond. Bowlby s relationship with his own mother seemed to be negative. When he did have an interaction with her, it was in short periods of time. The only relationship he had with his mother was, therefore, negative. He received no attention or affection from his mother. He also never received attention from his father, who I think could be a figure in infant s life if the mother is not there. This relationship was also negative. The upper class did not view affection in a positive light. As an infant John was never able to form this attachment to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jardim Gramacho is seen as a place for people of low quality and for the those who have nothing to lose or left to give, but by Muniz using the garbage and other materials found around Jardim Gramacho, he displays how beautiful this wasteland is and how important the people who live there are. When talking to his wife Muniz says, Check out the geography of this thing. This is the end of the line, this is where everything that is not good goes. Including the people. Public bicycle programs have grown in popularity in recent years because of their initiatives to increase cycle usage, the benefit of connectivity without the troubles of personal vehicles, and the decrease of environmental impacts as a result of our transport activities (DeMaio 2009, p. 41). Analysis Of Joseph Miller s Slaving As Historical Process In his work, Slaving as Historical Process: Examples from the Ancient Mediterranean and the Modern Atlantic, Joseph Miller proposes that slavery is a byproduct arising from specifiable tensions within larger and more complex historical processes. However, I would continue this argument by adding those processes are often rooted in a society s attempt to propel itself to economically and culturally flourish, often at the expense of human beings. Furthermore, while there are recurring patterns of enslavement in these societies, the specific context and degree that each slave system was implemented in affects the conditions, justification, and abolition of enslavement in Ancient Rome, Nineteenth Century American South, and contemporary Dubai. Ancient Rome spanned from 753 B.C to 476 A.D. While there is no single historical context that led to the use of slaves, the constant expansion of the empire led to both the demand and supply of labor. Thus, slaves became the backbone of the Ancient Roman Empire. Making up one third of the population during the reign of Trajan, 98 A.D 117 A.D., they enhanced Rome both economically and culturally. Research Paper On The Birth Of Islam Julianna Tafuri HIST 181 01 M+TH 2 3:15 Sean Walsh 3 November 2016 The Birth of Muhammad and Islam The Islamic religion is not only a religion, but a complex lifestyle full of dynamic truth which has a past that spans over fourteen centuries. It s history encompasses the ancient spirits of people from North Africa as far as Malaysia. Islam is also one of the youngest major religions as the Qur an came down to Muhammad six centuries after Jesus, so that a large portion of the developed world which it soon overran had been evangelized for centuries (Burrell 1). Although Islam was budding, it has grown into one of the world s largest religions having a following of over one billion. Islam is known to be the fastest growing faith worldwide, and in recent years has made striking advances in North America (3). The rapid expansion of the community of Believers after Muhammad s death has its roots in the events of the last years of his life ( Donner 92). Islam can be abridged into three timeframes that are as follows; The Time of Ingratitude, Muhammad s life and story, and the organizations and laws that were created after the demise of the prophet. The holiest declaration or Shahada in Islam is There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger (Fieser 373). • 26. The Risk Of Individual Investments To remedy for the latter, the risk of individual investments in the portfolio is mapped to more common market risks when we compute VaR. Before we proceed with an example involving bonds, two terms have to be defined: coupon bond and a zero coupon bond. A coupon bond is a debt investment in which an investor loans money to a company for a period of time. The company, the borrower, in return promises to make interest payments called coupons over a defined period of time and also pay the full amount of the loan at the end of the period. A zero coupon bond on the other does not pay coupon interest. Suppose that we want to determine the VaR of a 10 year coupon bond with annual coupons C in our portfolio. First, we break the 10 year coupon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, we compute the Value at Risk by using the weights on the standardized instruments that we previously computed. Again, before we proceed with an example involving this time forward contract, we should define what a forward contract is and how it is used in financial markets. Futures contracts are contractual agreement to buy or sell a particular commodity or financial asset at a predetermined price in the future. The contract usually details the quantity and quality of the underlying asset to be delivered in the future. Suppose now that we want to find the VaR of a six month dollar to euro forward contract. We compute the VaR going through the following four steps: We first map the standardized market risks and instruments underlying this security. Second, we determine the position needed to be taken in the standardized instruments. We then estimate the variances and covariance of these instruments and we finally compute the VaR in the forward contract. Step 1: Again, we are looking forward to map the standardized market risks and the instruments underlying this security. The market variables that affect the six month forward contract are the six month risk free rate in each currency (dollar and euro) and the spot exchange rate. We hence match up the previous market factors respectively to a six month zero coupon dollar bond, a six month zero coupon euro bond and the spot dollar to euro. Step2: ... So here was a multi platform game rivaling an exclusive Xbox title. However, at this time, Halo remained the King of the Hill. So, through several adoptions taken from already present games, Infinity Ward (the developers of CoD) finally felt a fit to their game, which was applied their installment Call of Duty: Modern Warfare . This game received massive success on release, becoming the second best selling shooter on the xbox 360, just under Halo 3. Reason for its success was due to it s multiplayer which consisted largely of player rewards and in game unlocks to keep the player interested. Because of this success and Activision s title a year contract, which involves two developers releasing a CoD every year, CoD quickly became the most popular shooter on the market. So naturally, developers would use some aspects from call of duty and include them in their very own game. Except, instead of taking just a few features, developers found themselves painting over their entire installments with call of duty elements. A Discussion Of Regression Results Discussion of Regression Results In order to empirically examine the extent to which changes in the price of chicken causes changes in broiler (chicken) consumption, time series data was collected on 40 observations extending from 1960 to 1999 on nine explanatory variables in total. I regressed this data using an Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) approach. The main explanatory variable used for my analysis was the consumer price index (CPI) for whole fresh chicken with the base years denoted as the 1982 to 1984 time period. The econometric model for my regression analysis is listed below: Broiler Consumption = a+β_(1 ) (CPI of broilers)+ β_2 (income)+ β_3 (population)+β_(4 ) (CPI for beef)+β_(5 ) (PPI for corn)+ β_(6 ) (NPI for broiler feed)+β_7 (CPI)+β_8 (AP of Broilers)+β_9 (population)+β_(10 ) (exports of beef, veal and pork)+ ε Data regarding my dependent variable was originally collected as pounds consumed per capita. However, I multiplied the per capita broiler consumption data by 100,000 to obtain broiler consumption in pounds per 100,000 people. In this way, I was able to obtain a larger coefficient on a few of the explanatory variables, which allowed for a more suitable display and discussion of the results in the paper. Further, the objective of this analysis was to explain to what extent price of broilers, represented as the consumer price index on whole fresh chicken, impacts broiler consumption in pounds.
