Augustine died in 430 as the Vandals were besieging his city of Hippo. Some 20 years before, Rome

Catholicity unity are co equal marks of true church along with holiness.
4. Augustine: developed and refined Optatus on the Donatists. Identified the Church as the body of
Christ with the Catholic Church of his day, with its hierarchy and sacraments, and with its centre in
Rome. Thus Augustine underlines catholicity: this is the distinguishing factor which marks the true
church from merely localised sects. 3 specific views of Augustine on the Church:
i) Basically holds concept of the Christian society of Christ s mystical body. [Christ has triple mode of
existence: eternal Word; God man mediator; the Church of which he is head the faithful the members.]
ii) Church unity follows logically from fellowship of love. Members of one body; unity of belief
hence heresy a breach of unity, not just difference of opinion. Antithesis of love is the spirit that
promotes schism. iii) On biblical grounds the Church is a community of both saints sinners.
Separation only comes at final judgement. Therefore two churches: the essential/invisible church
contained within the outward empirical church. (To what extent did this distinction allow for the
development of corruption within the empirical church?)

My Group Created A Retelling Of Othello
My group created a retelling of Othello in a modern day college setting. Before we started to film, I
met with the group after school for all of the brainstorming meetings except for one, since I had to
take a mock AP test. During the meetings, we went over possible settings and ideas for the film. We
played around with a few ideas, and even started to film one. The day that the group met to film the
prototype idea, I was not present. The idea didn t work, so we ended up scrapping it and choosing a
new setting altogether. We knew that we d need at least a week to film everything, so Sophie and I
ended up typing a completely new script without talking over all of the specifics with our group. That
week, we started filming, while also making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the original play, both Desdemona and Emilia don t do much compared to Othello and Iago, but
since the majority of the characters in our film are female, the power struggle between genders isn t as
apparent. Because of this, however, females are given more opportunities to have a say in the action.
In Othello, Othello is the only black character, but in our film the only important white character is
Deborah. Though unintentional, it shows how Deborah cannot do anything, even though she is the
privileged race. Even though Deb only talks to Iris a few times, she seems to genuinely trusted her,
which shows the general consensus on Iris personality as well as reinforcing Deb s feminine and
simple personality. As mentioned above, our new setting was in a college, and we used TU s campus
to film. Though none of the people in our group are in college, we ve heard all the rumors. The drama!
The backstabbing! The secrets! It was the perfect place to host a remake of a Shakespeare play, and
having a theatre club was just a bonus. The modern setting of our film contrasts nicely with the olden
war time of Othello while still retaining many of the same ideas and concepts. I ve already mentioned
why we chose a college setting, but another reason why it works well is because it fits the characters.
Though technically adults, they overreact to small provocations, and

Interview Process Analysis
Earning a job can be beneficial but finding one can be stressful. Search for the career you want to
pursue may take some time. The reason for that is because the job you choose to pursue may be the
occupation you will have until retirement. Before you get a job there are three steps, which are
creating the résumé, job searching, and the interview. following these few key steps will increase the
chances of you getting that career. To acquire a career, first you need to write a résumé. A résumé is a
brief document that summarizes your history. For example, your education history, employment
history, and qualifications. These documents are different from letters and papers, so instead apply
bullet points rather than long sentences and paragraphs. Write the resume that fits the requirements of
the job you are applying for. According to Source one, You should look at as many resume examples
as possible before writing your own. This is important because you need to make sure that your
document is written the right way. The second step is the job searching. Searching for a new job is the
best time to focus on your skills. A good place to begin your job search is your circle of friends and
family. When job seeking a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the interview the interviewees are going to ask questions. While answering the questions do
not take to long or too short in answering them. In addition, be honest while answering the questions
and ask the interviewees any questions that you may have. Furthermore, do not go off topic during the
interview. According to Steve Fogarty from Source three, Come with a toolbox of examples of the
work you ve done. Steve Fogarty is saying that it is better to tell them examples you have done
because it shows you have experience. It is better to tell the examples you have done instead of some
that you have not. Also do research about the company that you are applying

Essay on Mutual Mistake
Abstract Mutual Mistake of fact is when both parties of a contract make an assumption of fact when
contract is formed and signed. The mistake must significantly change what you have to do under the
contract, almost to the point where it s an entirely different agreement. Although, if you knew there
was a strong chance or probability of mistake at the time the contract was signed, you may have
assumed the risk of that mistake. You therefore cannot use the mutual mistake defense. Not all cases
of Mutual Mistake are strong enough to void a contract. Contract Law: Mistake of Fact In the given
case: Josh Hartly was interested in purchasing a new car and visits his local auto dealer. In the course
of his negotiations, he tells the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(LaMance, 2011) It is absolutely agreeable that in these types of situations that a contract be deemed
void from a mutual mistake of fact. If, for example, someone was contacted to dig a whole in someone
s backyard but after the contract had been signed both parties had found out that under a thin layer of
dirt was solid rock, a mutual mistake of fact could make the contract void since neither party knew of
the rock under the surface. If a mutual mistake defense was not possible then the person contracted to
dig the whole would have to dig the whole under any circumstance and run the risk of destroying their
equipment and/or having to spend more money for equipment capable of doing the job. In the case of
John Harlty neither party acted unethically. Though one could argue that the salesperson should of
known that the manufacturer was to stop production on cars with either a 3.2 liter and 3.9 liter V6
engine and begin production on a new model with a 3.5 liter engine before trying to sell a
discontinued car to a customer. This would make it a unilateral mistake of fact because the salesperson
had a reason to know of the mistake and it was his fault that led to the mistake (Emanuel, 2011). But,
on the other hand, buying a new car is a pretty big deal and the potential customer should have done
their own research and found out that a certain model of car was to be changed in

Chemical Weapon In Vietnam
ntroduction
Why did the United States introduce chemical weapons and defoliant agents into the Vietnam War?
The United States Military introduced chemical weaponry in their attempts to defeat communist forces
in Vietnam. Because of the nature of the terrain, which consisted mostly of dense jungle, the US
Armed Forces were unable to effectively target their enemy, the Vietcong.
The introduction of chemical weapons, notably defoliant agents such as Agent Orange, enabled the US
military to clear large areas of land that had previously been jungle, exposing Vietcong hideouts as
well as threatening the Vietnamese food supplies. In this way the tactic was very successful. However,
the use of chemical weapons in Vietnam had other unintended consequences that eventually saw the
US Army withdraw from the conflict. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel that I have a good understanding of the Vietnam War having taking a great interest the history of
the conflict and having been to Vietnam myself. I ve had the privilege of speaking with some of the
people who fought on both sides, including a real life Vietcong veteran.
There is also a large collection of museums and memorials pertaining to the war in Vietnam, with
large displays in nearly every city. These displays include descriptive commentary on the events from
the Vietnam colonial wars, as well as ancient battles and the war with the US.
Since my visit to Vietnam I have developed a specific interest in the use of chemical warfare and its
famously inhumane effects during the war. The 40th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War has
allowed for more developments and compensations from the United

The Importance Of Patient Privacy And Confidentiality
Patient privacy and confidentiality is one of the most important foundations when establishing a nurse
client relationship. When providing care, it is the licensed practical nurses ethical, and legal
responsibility to uphold a clients privacy and confidentiality. Ethically, nurses are also obligated to
advocate for their patients, provide safety, establish a trusting nurse client relationship, and protect
client information. In relations to the CLPBC Professional Standards of Practice for Licensed Practical
Nurses as well as the Entry to Practice Competencies for Licensed Practical Nurses; this passage
overviews how nurses maintain and promote the privacy and confidentiality of clients and client
information, the actions to take when confidentiality is breached, and how nurses ensure that all
information is collected, used, and disclosed on pertinent information. Understanding the difference
between privacy and confidentiality is the first step for providing ethical, safe, compassionate, and
competent care. Privacy entails the clients individual right to restrict any information from being
disclosed. People tend to only share information to health care providers when they feel safe, and in
control. Confidentiality, is the health care providers responsibility to keep enclosed, and private.
Nurses should only share patient information to direct sources and when it is to be used for pertinent
data. Providing a private and confidential environment will create a trusting

Iran Between Iran And The United States
The middle east, or more specifically Iran, has long been known for being ill at rest with the rest of the
world and is also known for it s sometimes violent means of negotiation in order to get what it wants.
In November 1979 at the end of President Jimmy Carter s term as President of the United States a
group of 300 500 Islamic students known as Imam s Disciples took over the United States embassy in
Tehran, Iran. These students took over sixty American citizens hostage and held them for a total of
444 days. This event harbored more press coverage than any other event since World War II. In order
to understand the reasoning behind this mass kidnapping and hostage taking, one must first look into

The Shah ended the uprising by exiling the leader, Ruhollah Khomeini, to Iraq. This was the
beginning of Iran s Islamic revolution. After the run in with the Islamic clergy, the Shah remained
friendly with the United States even though there was a growing movement to remove him as the head
of Iran. In 1979 the Shah, facing growing dissent and being labeled as anti Islamic, fled to Egypt to
get away from the uprising. It was then, after fourteen years, that Ruhollah Khomeini returned to Iran.
Little did anyone know, the Shah had been suffering from cancer and needed medical assistance to
treat it. After much resistance and fearing the backlash from Iran, President Carter allowed the Shah to
come to the United States for treatment. It was then that the United States embassy was attacked and
the hostages taken. The incident began with the several hundred Iranian students posted outside of the
embassy in protest of the United States taking in the Shah, their enemy. These students eventually
breached the gates of the embassy, finding a weak point in one of the windows and pulling down a
few bars in order to get in. In the mean time, those within the embassy were making phone calls and
attempting to get immediate assistance. The calls were all in vain, as no one was prepared with

Different Nature Views
The cold air is relentless and the fire can only do so much to keep a person safe in the elements, but
this isn t always the case in stories. The short story, The Outcasts of Poker Flat, written by Bret Harte
entails the life changing experiences that outcasts have to endure in horrible weather that becomes
inevitable. Albeit this story deals with the unpleasant side of nature, the short story, A White Heron, by
Sarah Orne Jewett illustrates the exact opposite. Rather, nature becomes Sylvie s one true love. The
juxtaposing ideas of nature in these two short stories still manage to make the characters make
extremely critical life decisions. The short stories A White Heron, by Sarah Orne Jewett and The
Outcasts of Poker Flat, by Bret Harte, have key aspects that make themselves coincide and contrast
with each other and assist the characters make difficult decisions mainly through the settings in which
they are placed; the season that the story occurs in, and the situations in which the characters have to
tackle. To begin with, these Realism short stories rely a lot on the area that they take place in. A White
Heron takes place at a farm in the upper part of Maine; a different atmosphere from which Sylvie was
born in, the city. Although it s a different setting for her Sylvie becomes one with nature instantly. The
woods and the life within it make her feel so welcomed and at home. Sylvie sees A White Heron as
such an innocent creature. She could not tell the heron s secret

The Economic Crisis Of Western Central Banks Essay
Because of the extreme severity of the Great Recession in 2008, western central banks have since
applied a series of unconventional monetary policies besides normal ones. One of the characteristics
of the unconventional policies is the intended near to zero interest rates, so those policies are also
named Zero Interest Rate Policies (ZIRP). ZIRP are designed to help the financial market escape from
the liquidity trap , a situation in which normal expansionary monetary policies fail to decrease interest
rates below zero and thus become ineffective. Without a doubt, ZIRP are necessary tools for
policymakers to intervene in the financial catastrophe of 2008; however, even though the recession
has officially ended in June 2009, ZIRP are still in effect now. The application of ZIRP in the US
demonstrates the necessity of the Federal Reserve (FED) for both monetary and fiscal policies in the
regulatory system. However, ZIRP are in fact encouraging institutions and individuals to seek risks
rather than avoid them, and the accumulating dangers as a result make ZIRP necessary to protect the
financial market and the US Treasury from greater destruction. Therefore, people are trapped in a
downward spiral, and the exit and economic recovery are postponed.
The negative effects of ZIRP begin from an unequal distribution of new money inflows. In the US,
quantitative easings (QEs) and Fed loans were first targeted at large financial institutions. According
to a list of recipients of

Best Budz Headphones are the Best
Millions of people use headphones every day. With a variety of uses, whether it s listening to music,
talking on the phone, or working out, headphones have become almost a necessity in everyday
America. One aspect that we believe hinders headphones that are currently being sold today is the fact
that they are all attached to a chord. Until recently, there was no such product that has come out with
cordless headphones. This is where our product comes in. Our product, Best Budz, will be the first of
its kind wireless headphones. We have created a headphone that is seemingly the same size as the
apple headphones, without the cord attached to them. We are trying to use simplicity at its finest. The
headphones will be magnetic and that way the consumer will be less prone to losing the ear buds. We
have also come up with a solution for when a headphone does indeed go missing. We have installed a
device into the ear buds to let the consumer know when a headphone is farther than three feet apart
from the other. When this happens, the headphones will start to beep and vibrate to ensure the
consumer can locate the missing earpiece. We want to clarify any concerns that come with small Ear
Buds being wireless, especially the question of where do I put the headphones when they are currently
not being used. This is where a use of a tie in product will come into play. We have created a new case
that will be sold for major types of wireless phones, such as the iPhone and any other smart

mentioned with a neutral tone and simply describe what the place looks like. In the second passage,
Okefenokee Swamp is portrayed as an unpleasant setting with many disturbing features. Each passage
describes the area with a different purpose and a different view. The first passage from the
Encyclopedia Britannica has an objective tone, while the second passage has a detestable tone and is

Any humane reader would see this as unwanted and repulsive. Boyle also focuses on the blood
sucking creatures of the swamp, parasites: . . . ticks, mites, hookworms, and paramecia that exist only
to compound the misery of life (251). The idea of being surrounded by parasites causes the reader to
have a sense of revulsion towards the swamp. Near the end of the passage Boyle adds some humor to
portray how revolting the swamp animals truly are: they scratch and stink and sniff at themselves
(251). To finally sum up his passage Boyle describes Okefenokee Swamp in two words a hellish zoo .
This ultimately reveals the author s feelings of the swamp and the subjective aspect of the second
passage, as well as the abominable tone. Both passages contain information of the swamp but each
conveys a different tone with the use of its descriptive words and imagery. Boyle leans towards using
words that create a sense of disgust in the reader, which simultaneously reveals his own opinion.
Meanwhile the first passage from the Encyclopedia Britannica focuses on the use of descriptive words
with neutral connotations in order to inform the reader of the swamp and allow him/her to view it as it

Hobbes Lord Of The Flies Community Analysis
The Reasons for a Community in Lord of the Flies
Since the dawn of man, there has been a primal calling pulling humans out of solitude and into
communities. When men are put into the state of nature there are certain traits that are almost always
apparent. Hobbes Leviathan shows the true reasons, that are ingrained in man as instinct, for forming a
community. We can see these traits appear in the boys in The Lord of the Flies. The boys in Lord of
the Flies form a community because of the desire of commodious living, the need of a leviathan to not
go to war, and the fear of death. The boys create Jack s tribe because they want to have a commodious
living. As Hobbes states in Leviathan one of the reasons men form a community is the desire ... Show

Hobbes says that the fear of death is also a huge reason in forming communities and it is a primal
instinct in man. In the beginning the boys have the fear of not being rescued which would result in
death. We ve got to decide about being rescued, (Golding 22). This is the first question that comes up
in the boys first meeting. The fear of not being rescued is at the top of their minds. Later on in the
book Ralph and Piggy really get scared of this when the boys join Jack s tribe. Without the smoke
signal we ll die here, (Golding 139). With the realization that they aren t going to be able to keep the
fire going they have a growing fear of death. The boys who join Jack s tribe aren t as afraid of not
getting rescued as they are of getting killed by the beast. This fear of the beast is one of the driving
factors to join Jack s tribe as he seems to know how to deal with it. And about the beast. When we kill
we ll leave some of the kill for it. Then it won t bother us, maybe, (Golding 133). Because the boys
think that Jack knows how to deal with the beast, they feel safer from the beast being with Jack rather
than Ralph. The fear of death is one of the driving factors behind the formation of both

Undergrad Personal Statement
When I entered college, I had little idea of what I wanted to study. Eventually, I found two majors that
have been most fulfilling, Russian and International Studies. These majors have also led me to areas
of public service I never before considered. While I knew about positions in the Defense Department
and in intelligence, I quickly learned that my foreign language abilities were valuable outside these
capacities. Although I have an interest in working internationally, I recognize there are many ways to
serve meaningfully in the United States. As an undergrad, I worked part time in warehouse off
campus. While I value my education and all of the opportunities it has provided me, this was one of
the most educational experiences I have had. Working with men who were supporting families on a
meager wage was truly eye opening to me and made me question many of my preconceived notions.
One man s well water quality was so poor that he brought empty milk jugs to fill and take home to his
family. Other coworkers recounted their experiences as children, living in poor neighborhoods and on
government assistance. These accounts illustrated how much work there is to be done in the United

common in Mexican cuisine. Many Mexican dishes also contain garlic and onions.
Next to corn, rice is the most common grain in Mexican cuisine. Mexican food varies by region,
because of local climate and geography and ethnic differences among the indigenous inhabitants and
because these different populations were influenced by the Spaniards in varying degrees.

Throughout this experiment we have learned a great deal more about electricity and how it is created.
Before this was performed research was done on our materials and their functions, hoping to be more
educated on how they would help us solve our problem. We were able to make a well educated
hypothesis from our newly found information. Our prediction was that the lime would have the most
voltage because in our research we found that it has the most citric acid in it. Citric acid is modeling
the chemical energy in a battery causing the most voltage. The independent variable applied was the
type of fruit tested while the dependent variable was the voltage measured in the multimeter. Some of
the controls kept consistent were the types of nails, the type of multimeter, the DCV setting on the
multimeter, the nail placement, and the wire placement. Our hopes for the outcome of this experiment
is to have successfully created three fruit batteries and for us to compare their voltages.
Materials and Methods For the experiment gather a lime, an orange, an apple, a zinc nail and a copper
nail to model the essential parts of a battery. The zinc nail represents the negative charge while the
copper nail imitates a positive charge. To measure this energy created in the fruit an analog multimeter
was used. The procedure used is below.
Collect the materials required for the experiment.

Virginia Woolf s To The Lighthouse Essay
She was not inventing; she was only trying to smooth out something she had been given years ago
folded up; something she had seen. For in the rough and tumble of daily life, with all those children
about, all those visitors, one had constantly a sense of repetition of one thing falling where another had
fallen, and so setting up an echo which chimed in the air and made it full of vibrations. (199)
What causes that crumpling? What makes the accumulated images fold up over the years? How can
one smooth out the folds? These are the pivotal questions raised in the above passage, which captures
the central exploration in Virginia Woolf s To the Lighthouse. Change and chaos create folds in Lily s
life. She clings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ramsay, the model hostess. Lily even feels like she is soaking up some of Mrs. Ramsay s glory a
collective, feminine splendor just by being in her presence. On the other hand, Lily harbors an
aversion for Mrs. Ramsay. For instance, this reproof surfaces during the dinner party, when Lily
observes that Mrs. Ramsay led her victims...to the altar (Woolf 101). Although both contradictory
impulses are strong, her criticism of Mrs. Ramsay gains intensity in the novel s end. Consequently,
Lily s wrestle with Mrs. Ramsay s invisible presence makes the two becomes antagonists (Andre par.
12).
A general sense of chaos also creases Lily s life. Andre notes that the Greek word khaos denotes an
abyss, which is related to chasm (par. 3). This chasm, or distance, is the source of Lily s conflict,
because Woolf associates it with change. When Mr. Ramsay sets out to the lighthouse, for example,
Lily relates the distance with change: Already the little distance they had sailed had put them far from
it and given it the changed look, the composed look, of something receding in which one has no
longer any part (Woolf 166). Lily s awareness of the chaos deepens it; she is aware of the disorder
around her and the complexity of her responses to that disorder (Gorsky 103). Her concerted effort to
respond, to discern some pattern in existence, and, if necessary...to impose a sense of order on the
constant flux of daily life

Practices and Malpractice in Canadian Food Labelling
Canada s food labelling practices are very much a work in progress. Labelling itself is a very
important issue as it affects both product sales for companies and personal health for consumers,
especially since most Canadian consumers learn about nutrition from food labels themselves (Nguyen)
and are especially inclined to trust labels (Gruère, Carter and Farzin). Through labelling law,
government is also able to impose food standards on products. An extensive set of rules to govern
every possible category of food product is used and adhered to in the food inspection process. Food
labelling itself is mainly tied to issues of health and safety and consumer rights, but has also recently
been involved in trade relations (which will not be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New guidelines have eliminated this practice. However, companies choose to label products Made in
Canada from Domestic and Imported Ingredients instead of labelling all the country origins of their
ingredients. An example is in the meat industry. Foreign animals imported into Canada but slaughtered
and/or processed here still qualify for Made in Canada labels, in fact, only pre processed and packaged
imported meat requires a country of origin label (Weeks).
This is admittedly the most practical option for processed food products comprising many ingredients,
but can also be taken as an attempt to hide the true origin of ingredients from the consumer to prevent
any bias in selection. Companies stand to lose sales if they reveal all the sources of their ingredients
for several reasons. Consumers may have patriotic sympathies and prefer domestic goods. They may
also have a bias towards certain countries, perhaps for political or environmental reasons (e.g. whether
the food was produced sustainably) (Boyd), and may even doubt the quality of ingredients coming
from lesser developed countries.
There is additional confusion (for consumers) in the difference between Made in Canada and Product
of Canada labels. Consumers tend to equate the two, but they are in fact very different. Products that

The Problem Of Energy Production
In today s society, it s nearly impossible to open a newspaper, fire up a computer, or hold a
conversation that isn t someway related to energy. Since the beginning of the industrial revolution over
a century and a half ago, nothing has been more pivotal to mankind s rise to power as the apex species
of planet earth. Had our ancestors not discovered the potential of using million year old plant and
animal remains to create combustible power, the world would look very different. There is no denying
that energy production is one of, if not, the most important developments in human history. After a
hundred and fifty years of recklessly burning oil and coal, we find ourselves having to deal with the
literal mess unforeseen by our industrious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are dozens, if not hundreds of oil and coal alternatives that are being considered, however,
while many options look promising in theory the overwhelming majority of them such as: wind, solar,
and biofuel just aren t economically feasible on a global scale. Nuclear power is growing in popularity
around the world for its extreme potency and zero emissions, but advancements in the field are few
and far between due to the bad stigma that surrounds nuclear power. This negative stigma stems from
its military roots and its potential for catastrophic disaster, which has become very real in the wake of
Japan s recent natural disasters. The answer to kicking our oil habit may actually be much simpler than
any of these other alternatives. The key to securing our energy independence may have been under our
feet the entire time we were bending to the oil cartel s (OPEC s) every demand.
Here in America we have been sitting atop a goldmine of natural gas wells that rank among the most
abundant in the world. While natural gas is by no means a renewable source of energy, reserves are
much more plentiful in America than oil. Natural gas also burns much cleaner than coal making it
friendlier to our heavily burdened atmosphere. Current estimates put our nation s natural gas supply
somewhere around twenty five hundred trillion cubic feet of technically recoverable natural gas from
all sources (Deutch, 2011). Approximately six hundred to seven hundred cubic feet lies

Albert Bandura Social Learning Theory
Observational learning and cognitive variables help explain human behavior and can be utilized in a
wide variety of areas. The Social Learning Theory (SLT) suggests that individuals learn a considerable
amount of their behavior by observation and imitation of others (Powell, Honey, Symbaluk 2017. It
can be used to produce distinct interventions and treatments for those in need. A review of a variety of
studies in aggression, stalking, business, and simulations investigate distinct ways to make use of the
many components of the SLT. It was concluded that the SLT is diverse, it allows the creation of
different treatments that help individuals in numerous areas.
Introduction
Throughout this course, we have explored a vast amount of theories, however, Albert Bandura s Social
Learning Theory (SLT) has been the one that intrigued me the most. Bandura s SLT strongly
emphasized the importance of observational learning and cognitive variables in explaining human
behavior (Powell, Honey, Symbaluk 2017). According to our readings Bandura agrees with the
behaviorist learning theories of classical and operant conditioning, he proposes that the SLT is a result
of both person and situation, which does not have the same effect from either component on their own
(Powell, Honey, Symbaluk 2017). One of his most well known studies involves a bobo doll. In which
Bandura demonstrates that when someone observes violent behavior it increases the chances of

The purpose of this investigation is to examine the question To what extent did Joseph McCarthy and
his anti communist tactics have an impact on United States society? I will cover how things in the
society has changed. McCarthyism also affected domestic and foreign policies, but I am going to
focus on American society. I will focus mainly the years around the McCarthy era which is 1950
through 1954. To help examine my topic, I will be using two books. The books are Defining moments:
McCarthyism and the Communist Threat and Joe McCarthy and McCarthyism: The hate that haunts
America The two sources will be valuable because they give a deep understanding of what happened
during the years 1950 through 1954. This books is one of Omnigraphics Defining Moments books.
Kevin Hillstrom, the author, has written many other books, including books about history. This also
shows this source is valuable because Omnigraphics has a lot of other Defining Moment books that
are about history.
The first source, Defining moments: McCarthyism and the communist Threat, by Kevin Hillstrom, is a
secondary source and was published in 2011. Books Kevin Hillstrom wrote and edited has received
awards. He not only wrote books about history, he also covered topics about environmental issues and
culture. Although the book itself is a secondary source, it contains primary sources. There are also

The Chemistry Of Diffusion Of Osmosis
Diffusion is the random movement of particles, caused by kinetic energy, from an area of higher
concentration to an area of lower concentration. Once the two substances are in equilibrium, diffusion
still occurs. However, the substances stay in equilibrium, as the random movement is equal across
both sides. Osmosis is the diffusion of water, through a selectively permeable membrane. A selectively
permeable membrane is a membrane that allows certain molecules to pass through itself, and is
resistant to other molecules. Osmosis is a very important process by cells, with uses such as the
absorption of water. Many cells are placed in solutions with a similar solute solvent ratio, to prevent
rapid intake or expulsion of water. Osmosis causes a change in turgor pressure, and in osmotic
pressure. Tugor pressure is the pressure exerted on the cytoplasm on the cell caused by the intake or
expulsion of water. Osmotic pressure is the pressure of the water If the turgor pressure in a cell is too
great, than the cell may explode. If the turgor pressure inside the cell is too low, the cell will shrivel.

Benefits And Tools Of Government Encouraging Export
The benefits and tools of government encouraging export
Nowadays, since the reform of WTO (World Trade Organization), trade barriers declined gradually
over decades, in order to create more exchange between markets. Regulators from different
governments had substantially focused on the same target, especially after 2008 worldwide financial
crisis, to encourage more export from domestic producers.
To boost both value and quantity of exports, officials from different governments provide various
incentives to domestic producers. These incentives are designed to facilitate exporters over areas like
production efficiency, production cost, competitive advantage, brand loyalty and financial cost. One of
the most popular policies to exporters is government subsidies, illegal since 1995, which will normally
decrease the price of export goods and services. Local governments pay the subsidies and their
producers benefit from the subsidies by substantially outperforms international competitors, which do
not subsidized by their government, on price factor. As stated above, subsidy is illegal since 1995, in
the aim of creating more fair trade between markets. However, subsidy in agriculture sector is allowed
by WTO, with the purpose to support and protect employments. As shown in Table 9.2 , the table

Psychodynamic Approach To Behaviourism Essay
Behaviourism, also known as the behaviouristic approach is based on several underlying assumptions
regarding methodology and behavioural analysis. Behaviourists believe that psychology should be
seen as a science and therefore theories must be proved using controlled experiments whilst observing
behaviour. Behaviourism is mainly concerned with observable behaviour rather than internal
processes such as emotions. The psychodynamic approach to psychology is in complete contrast to
that of the behavioural approach. Psychodynamic theorists look for the causes of behaviour in a
dynamic interplay of inner motivational forces that often conflict with one another. They also suggest
that many of these motivational determinants of behaviour are unconscious ... Show more content on

As previously stated, behaviourists regard psychology as a science, therefore they believe that
assumptions and theories need to be tested and controlled in order to examine the response.
Behaviourism is not as concerned with internal events such as thinking and emotion as it is with
observable action. Behaviour can be explained simply by the association between a stimulus and a
response. There are both simple stimuli and complex stimuli all of which bring about a response.
Responses can be explicit which refers to movements or actions which can be observed be
behaviourists, Watson states that responses can also be implicit, for example nerve impulses which can
also be observed by behaviourists with the use of the correct equipment. Finally behaviourism is based
on the theoretical assumption that behaviour is learned through ones environment. This behaviour is
learned through classical or operant conditioning. Classical conditioning is the way in which an
organism learns to associate two stimuli such that one stimulus comes to elicit a response that was
originally elicited only by the other stimulus (Holt, 2012). Holt describes operant learning as the way
in which behaviour is influenced by consequences that follow it (Holt,

Analysis Of The Film Selma
Equality and Justice false promises a nation was created to protect. The historical drama, Selma
(2014), directed by Ava DuVernay, depicts some of the struggles African Americans faced in the
pursuit of equality and justice during the mid 1950 s to 1960 s, and the role Martin Luther King Jr.
played in his attempt to overcome such inequalities. Even before its release, Selma received backlash
from critics who claimed it falsely depicted Lyndon B. Johnson at odds with Martin Luther King Jr,
and alleged that the murder of the four girls at the Birmingham Church occurred in September 1963,
rather than at the end of 1964, which the film suggests. Regardless of such claims, the film, Selma,
does depict a historical event set forth by Martin Luther King Jr. in 1965. During this time period,
racial segregation was prominent, especially in the southern states. The government justified such
segregation based on the 14th Amendment s wording of separate but equal . However, many African
Americans were dissatisfied and demanded true equality. It was not until the mid 1960 s, after Martin
Luther King Jr. was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, that racial tension began to decline. Although
Martin Luther King Jr. s role was invaluable in the Civil Rights Movement and required great courage,
Selma aims to portray a complex side of King, mixing his bravery and determination with self doubts
and internal conflicts in his pursuit of justice and equality. To stand up for one s principles in

Abstract
Background
There has been a continuous growth in the number of New Zealanders on dialysis, with the
total number increasing from 1770 cases in 2004 to over 2500 cases by the end of 2013
(ANZDATA Registry, 2015; McDonald, 2015). Among individuals over the age of 65 years,
the prevalence has increased by more than four folds, and is expected to continue to increase
in the future (Madhan, 2004; ANZDATA Registry, 2015). Prolonged life expectancy,
advancements in medical technology and subsequently inflated public expectations have
significantly contributed to increased acceptance of dialysis among elderly individuals
(Kurella et al, 2007). However, opinions regarding recommendation and initiation of dialysis
in the elderly population vary significantly among renal teams, mainly due to persistent
uncertainties surrounding the outcome of dialysis therapy in elderly patients with end stage

Rhetorical Analysis Of Bowling For Columbine
In the 2002 documentary Bowling for Columbine, American political activist and filmmaker Michael
Moore sets out to explore the primary causes of the 1999 Columbine Highschool massacre, as well as
the roots of gun violence in the United States in his trademark provocative yet satirical manner.
Bowling for Columbine takes a deep and often disconcerting investigation into the motives of two
Colorado student shooters, responsible for the deaths of over 12 people at Columbine High School on
April 20, 1999, and examines other gun related issues as well. From obtaining free guns at a bank, to
reviewing America s violent history, and interviewing a variety of people, Moore demonstrates that
the conventional answers of violent national history and entertainment, as well as poverty are
inadequate of causing this violence, for other nations share the same factors without the same levels of
carnage. In order to arrive at a possible explanation, Moore takes on a deeper inspection of America s
culture of fear, and violence in a nation with widespread gun ownership. Ultimately, the documentary
implies that the high incidence of gun deaths in America is caused by the deadly combination of
cultural paranoia and easy accessible firearms that is, to some extent, effectively established through
rhetorical techniques of ethos, logos, and pathos. To begin, Moore struggles to appeal to ethos
successfully due to his manipulative methods that raises the audience s skepticism in his credibility,
despite using many strong sources such as his reputation, experience, and the values of other experts
in a desperate attempt to gain the audience s trust. Throughout the documentary, Moore is able to
tactfully utilize his renowned reputation as a filmmaker to ensure that his audience will believe
everything that he presents. By dressing like an average Joe and showing his own hometown of Flint,
Michigan, a gun loving town , Moore is able to portray himself as the average American citizen who
just wants facts and answers from the people. This is successfully used in the film as Moore seems
more reliable to the audience, and makes his interviewees feel equal to Moore. Moreover, Moore also
interviews many credible people who are able to back

1. Evaluate Lens Crafters operations strategy and explain how the organization seeks to gain a
competitive advantage regarding sustainability. Lens crafters is a United States organization that deals
with the manufacture of eyewear including sun glasses and is a large retail company in the USA. It
was founded in 1983 by a person known as E. Dean Butler. He was a manager at Procter Gamble
Company, which he afterward sold to United States Shoe Corporation in 1985 (Walczak, 2014). Since
then, the eyewear company has expanded enormously with over 840 stores in Canada alone. The
factors that led to its fast growth were due to his optimistic character of business growth. He also was
very knowledgeable and had a way to manufacture glasses on order and within the stipulated time

Themes In The Road By Cormac Mccarthy
In The Road, by Cormac McCarthy, a father and a child walk along a road in exile, unaware that they
are also traveling along a path to enlightenment. The father and the child, moving south in a post
apocalyptic world, look for safety and salvation. These experiences alienate them because they are
trying to keep other survivors away from them, but also enriches them by bringing the boy and the
father closer together. This suggests the deeper meaning that through struggle and strife we can
become closer to those we love. The characters live in a dark, grey, ashen world. There is minimal
light and no wildlife. The father describes the nights in this world as Nights beyond dark beyond
darkness and the days each one more grey than what had gone before. (McCarthy 1) This sentence
illuminates to the readers that the world in which the father and the child are living is not like ours and
that they struggle to survive. It also examines how the characters view their own situation and
surroundings. The characters exile in this grey world alienates them from the rest of humanity. One of
the best examples of this is when the father picks up a phone and dials the number of his father s old
house although he knows that no one will pick up and it is pointless to call. While the father is doing
this the boy asks What are you doing? (McCarthy 7). This reinforces the point that the father and the
child are all alone. No one will come and help them. McCarthy s use of dialogue

target female students. The reason most people give for having dress codes is so that the girls clothing

A Christmas carol by Charles Dickens is a significant novella written in the Victorian era. The
protagonist Ebenezer Scrooge is used to demonstrate the upper class society and their attitude towards

The author illustrates that Scrooge who is depicted as hard and sharp as a flint is a greedy miser whom
is so old and coldhearted that nothing other than his profits will phase him. Dickens uses the scene
when the ghost of Christmas past, a child like old man uses flashbacks to show Scrooge of the
memories he once made to show the nature of the much younger character. This is evident when Fan a
little girl much younger than Scrooge had brought out the affection of her older brother as they
planned to be together all the Christmas long, and have the merriest time in all the world. What is
important about this example is not just that it shows the compassion Scrooge once felt but also that
Scrooge is not truly crooked and horrible to the core establishing the uplifting and inspiring feeling to

The title of the novella, A Christmas Carol, is immediately recognized by the reader as hardly

features. Ghost stories are meant to be scary, typically the ghosts that appear in this genre bring

productivity in measures of quantity. Also from a long time quality of metals is also a big challenge
for a metallurgist. Quality measured in many terms like wear resistant, corrosion resistant, ductility,
conductivity(both electrical and thermal), durability, abrasion etc. But as a metallurgical engineer our
focus is on improving the mechanical properties like hardness, yield strength, ductility, corrosion
resistance (environment specific), thermal properties and microstructure. It has been observed that
cryogenic treatment can play the effects of increasing mechanical properties and dimensional stability.
Cryogenic treatment of metals and alloys is relatively cheap, economical and eco friendly process to
enhance its mechanical properties. In this case study, the main is on low stacking fault copper based
alloys and processes to improve its mechanical properties.Cryogenic treatment (in this case case

1. Swap is defined as an agreement or contract between counterparties for the purpose to manage their
exposure to risk. Our paper will specifically discuss about one of the commodity derivatives called as
Agricultural Swap and referring to the the Agriculture Swap Contract Product (ASC) Disclosure
Statement issued by Westpac Banking Corporation dated in 10 February 2016. The main purpose of
entering into Agricultural Swap is to manage the exposure of the agriculture price s movement by
locking the price of the agriculture for a long period (Barned 2012). Agriculture seller or buyer is
entitled to exchange a floating price for a fixed price for a specified commodity (Westpac Banking
Corporation 2016). Swaps have characteristics that similar and also differentiate them from other
derivatives instruments (McDonald 2006), which are as follow: Swaps are categorized as non
standardized contract; therefore they are traded over the counter (OTC). It is also indicate that there is
a room of privacy and flexibility to customize the contract depending on the agreement between the
relevant parties involved in the swap. Similar with the others derivatives instruments, swaps have also
a zero initial market value. This implies that parties may enter and exit the swap contract without any
cost besides the commissions and bid ask spread. In commodity swaps, settlement could be arranged
with either physical (e.g. commodities) or financial (cash settlement). There are several

Some 20 years before, Rome had fallen. Catholicity unity are co equal marks of true church along with holiness. 4. Augustine: developed and refined Optatus on the Donatists. Identified the Church as the body of Christ with the Catholic Church of his day, with its hierarchy and sacraments, and with its centre in Rome. Thus Augustine underlines catholicity: this is the distinguishing factor which marks the true church from merely localised sects. 3 specific views of Augustine on the Church: i) Basically holds concept of the Christian society of Christ s mystical body. [Christ has triple mode of existence: eternal Word; God man mediator; the Church of which he is head the faithful the members.] ii) Church unity follows logically from fellowship of love. Members of one body; unity of belief hence heresy a breach of unity, not just difference of opinion. Antithesis of love is the spirit that promotes schism. iii) On biblical grounds the Church is a community of both saints sinners. Separation only comes at final judgement. • 3. My Group Created A Retelling Of Othello My group created a retelling of Othello in a modern day college setting. Before we started to film, I met with the group after school for all of the brainstorming meetings except for one, since I had to take a mock AP test. During the meetings, we went over possible settings and ideas for the film. We played around with a few ideas, and even started to film one. The day that the group met to film the prototype idea, I was not present. The idea didn t work, so we ended up scrapping it and choosing a new setting altogether. We knew that we d need at least a week to film everything, so Sophie and I ended up typing a completely new script without talking over all of the specifics with our group. That week, we started filming, while also making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the original play, both Desdemona and Emilia don t do much compared to Othello and Iago, but since the majority of the characters in our film are female, the power struggle between genders isn t as apparent. Because of this, however, females are given more opportunities to have a say in the action. In Othello, Othello is the only black character, but in our film the only important white character is Deborah. Though unintentional, it shows how Deborah cannot do anything, even though she is the privileged race. Even though Deb only talks to Iris a few times, she seems to genuinely trusted her, which shows the general consensus on Iris personality as well as reinforcing Deb s feminine and simple personality. As mentioned above, our new setting was in a college, and we used TU s campus to film. Though none of the people in our group are in college, we ve heard all the rumors. The drama! The backstabbing! The secrets! It was the perfect place to host a remake of a Shakespeare play, and having a theatre club was just a bonus. The modern setting of our film contrasts nicely with the olden war time of Othello while still retaining many of the same ideas and concepts. I ve already mentioned why we chose a college setting, but another reason why it works well is because it fits the characters. Though technically adults, they overreact to small provocations, and ... The reason for that is because the job you choose to pursue may be the occupation you will have until retirement. Before you get a job there are three steps, which are creating the résumé, job searching, and the interview. following these few key steps will increase the chances of you getting that career. To acquire a career, first you need to write a résumé. A résumé is a brief document that summarizes your history. For example, your education history, employment history, and qualifications. These documents are different from letters and papers, so instead apply bullet points rather than long sentences and paragraphs. Write the resume that fits the requirements of the job you are applying for. According to Source one, You should look at as many resume examples as possible before writing your own. This is important because you need to make sure that your document is written the right way. The second step is the job searching. Searching for a new job is the best time to focus on your skills. The mistake must significantly change what you have to do under the contract, almost to the point where it s an entirely different agreement. Although, if you knew there was a strong chance or probability of mistake at the time the contract was signed, you may have assumed the risk of that mistake. You therefore cannot use the mutual mistake defense. Not all cases of Mutual Mistake are strong enough to void a contract. If, for example, someone was contacted to dig a whole in someone s backyard but after the contract had been signed both parties had found out that under a thin layer of dirt was solid rock, a mutual mistake of fact could make the contract void since neither party knew of the rock under the surface. If a mutual mistake defense was not possible then the person contracted to dig the whole would have to dig the whole under any circumstance and run the risk of destroying their equipment and/or having to spend more money for equipment capable of doing the job. In the case of John Harlty neither party acted unethically. Though one could argue that the salesperson should of known that the manufacturer was to stop production on cars with either a 3.2 liter and 3.9 liter V6 engine and begin production on a new model with a 3.5 liter engine before trying to sell a discontinued car to a customer. This would make it a unilateral mistake of fact because the salesperson had a reason to know of the mistake and it was his fault that led to the mistake (Emanuel, 2011). But, on the other hand, buying a new car is a pretty big deal and the potential customer should have done their own research and found out that a certain model of car was to be changed in ... • 6. Chemical Weapon In Vietnam ntroduction Why did the United States introduce chemical weapons and defoliant agents into the Vietnam War? The United States Military introduced chemical weaponry in their attempts to defeat communist forces in Vietnam. Because of the nature of the terrain, which consisted mostly of dense jungle, the US Armed Forces were unable to effectively target their enemy, the Vietcong. The introduction of chemical weapons, notably defoliant agents such as Agent Orange, enabled the US military to clear large areas of land that had previously been jungle, exposing Vietcong hideouts as well as threatening the Vietnamese food supplies. In this way the tactic was very successful. However, the use of chemical weapons in Vietnam had other unintended consequences that eventually saw the US Army withdraw from the conflict. ... The short story, The Outcasts of Poker Flat, written by Bret Harte entails the life changing experiences that outcasts have to endure in horrible weather that becomes inevitable. The Economic Crisis Of Western Central Banks Essay Because of the extreme severity of the Great Recession in 2008, western central banks have since applied a series of unconventional monetary policies besides normal ones. One of the characteristics of the unconventional policies is the intended near to zero interest rates, so those policies are also named Zero Interest Rate Policies (ZIRP). ZIRP are designed to help the financial market escape from the liquidity trap , a situation in which normal expansionary monetary policies fail to decrease interest rates below zero and thus become ineffective. Without a doubt, ZIRP are necessary tools for policymakers to intervene in the financial catastrophe of 2008; however, even though the recession has officially ended in June 2009, ZIRP are still in effect now. The application of ZIRP in the US demonstrates the necessity of the Federal Reserve (FED) for both monetary and fiscal policies in the regulatory system. However, ZIRP are in fact encouraging institutions and individuals to seek risks rather than avoid them, and the accumulating dangers as a result make ZIRP necessary to protect the financial market and the US Treasury from greater destruction. Therefore, people are trapped in a downward spiral, and the exit and economic recovery are postponed. The negative effects of ZIRP begin from an unequal distribution of new money inflows. In the US, quantitative easings (QEs) and Fed loans were first targeted at large financial institutions. According to a list of recipients of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With a variety of uses, whether it s listening to music, talking on the phone, or working out, headphones have become almost a necessity in everyday America. One aspect that we believe hinders headphones that are currently being sold today is the fact that they are all attached to a chord. Until recently, there was no such product that has come out with cordless headphones. This is where our product comes in. Our product, Best Budz, will be the first of its kind wireless headphones. We have created a headphone that is seemingly the same size as the apple headphones, without the cord attached to them. We are trying to use simplicity at its finest. The headphones will be magnetic and that way the consumer will be less prone to losing the ear buds. We have also come up with a solution for when a headphone does indeed go missing. We have installed a device into the ear buds to let the consumer know when a headphone is farther than three feet apart from the other. When this happens, the headphones will start to beep and vibrate to ensure the consumer can locate the missing earpiece. We want to clarify any concerns that come with small Ear Buds being wireless, especially the question of where do I put the headphones when they are currently not being used. This is where a use of a tie in product will come into play. We have created a new case that will be sold for major types of wireless phones, such as the iPhone and any other smart ... Hobbes Leviathan shows the true reasons, that are ingrained in man as instinct, for forming a community. We can see these traits appear in the boys in The Lord of the Flies. The boys in Lord of the Flies form a community because of the desire of commodious living, the need of a leviathan to not go to war, and the fear of death. We were able to make a well educated hypothesis from our newly found information. Our prediction was that the lime would have the most voltage because in our research we found that it has the most citric acid in it. Citric acid is modeling the chemical energy in a battery causing the most voltage. The independent variable applied was the type of fruit tested while the dependent variable was the voltage measured in the multimeter. Some of the controls kept consistent were the types of nails, the type of multimeter, the DCV setting on the multimeter, the nail placement, and the wire placement. Labelling itself is a very important issue as it affects both product sales for companies and personal health for consumers, especially since most Canadian consumers learn about nutrition from food labels themselves (Nguyen) and are especially inclined to trust labels (Gruère, Carter and Farzin). Through labelling law, government is also able to impose food standards on products. This is admittedly the most practical option for processed food products comprising many ingredients, but can also be taken as an attempt to hide the true origin of ingredients from the consumer to prevent any bias in selection. Companies stand to lose sales if they reveal all the sources of their ingredients for several reasons. Consumers may have patriotic sympathies and prefer domestic goods. They may also have a bias towards certain countries, perhaps for political or environmental reasons (e.g. whether the food was produced sustainably) (Boyd), and may even doubt the quality of ingredients coming from lesser developed countries. The answer to kicking our oil habit may actually be much simpler than any of these other alternatives. The key to securing our energy independence may have been under our feet the entire time we were bending to the oil cartel s (OPEC s) every demand. Here in America we have been sitting atop a goldmine of natural gas wells that rank among the most abundant in the world. While natural gas is by no means a renewable source of energy, reserves are much more plentiful in America than oil. Natural gas also burns much cleaner than coal making it friendlier to our heavily burdened atmosphere. Current estimates put our nation s natural gas supply somewhere around twenty five hundred trillion cubic feet of technically recoverable natural gas from all sources (Deutch, 2011). Approximately six hundred to seven hundred cubic feet lies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For these many reasons, I believe I should get Snapchat. The first reason I believe I should get Snapchat is I can only talk to my friends. This shows that I should get Snapchat because I can only communicate with my friends that I know. According to Cornell Research it states, Essentially, users friend each other through the application and are then able to send each other either picture or text based messages known as snaps. The Social Learning Theory (SLT) suggests that individuals learn a considerable amount of their behavior by observation and imitation of others (Powell, Honey, Symbaluk 2017. It can be used to produce distinct interventions and treatments for those in need. A review of a variety of studies in aggression, stalking, business, and simulations investigate distinct ways to make use of the many components of the SLT. It was concluded that the SLT is diverse, it allows the creation of different treatments that help individuals in numerous areas. Introduction Throughout this course, we have explored a vast amount of theories, however, Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory (SLT) has been the one that intrigued me the most. Bandura s SLT strongly emphasized the importance of observational learning and cognitive variables in explaining human behavior (Powell, Honey, Symbaluk 2017). According to our readings Bandura agrees with the behaviorist learning theories of classical and operant conditioning, he proposes that the SLT is a result of both person and situation, which does not have the same effect from either component on their own (Powell, Honey, Symbaluk 2017). One of his most well known studies involves a bobo doll. In which Bandura demonstrates that when someone observes violent behavior it increases the chances of violence of the spectator, and ... The purpose of this investigation is to examine the question To what extent did Joseph McCarthy and his anti communist tactics have an impact on United States society? I will cover how things in the society has changed. McCarthyism also affected domestic and foreign policies, but I am going to focus on American society. I will focus mainly the years around the McCarthy era which is 1950 through 1954. To help examine my topic, I will be using two books. The books are Defining moments: McCarthyism and the Communist Threat and Joe McCarthy and McCarthyism: The hate that haunts America The two sources will be valuable because they give a deep understanding of what happened during the years 1950 through 1954. This books is one of Omnigraphics Defining Moments books. Kevin Hillstrom, the author, has written many other books, including books about history. This also shows this source is valuable because Omnigraphics has a lot of other Defining Moment books that are about history. The first source, Defining moments: McCarthyism and the communist Threat, by Kevin Hillstrom, is a secondary source and was published in 2011. Books Kevin Hillstrom wrote and edited has received awards. He not only wrote books about history, he also covered topics about environmental issues and culture. • 30. The Chemistry Of Diffusion Of Osmosis Diffusion is the random movement of particles, caused by kinetic energy, from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. Once the two substances are in equilibrium, diffusion still occurs. However, the substances stay in equilibrium, as the random movement is equal across both sides. Osmosis is the diffusion of water, through a selectively permeable membrane. A selectively permeable membrane is a membrane that allows certain molecules to pass through itself, and is resistant to other molecules. Osmosis is a very important process by cells, with uses such as the absorption of water. Many cells are placed in solutions with a similar solute solvent ratio, to prevent rapid intake or expulsion of water. Osmosis causes a change in turgor pressure, and in osmotic pressure. Tugor pressure is the pressure exerted on the cytoplasm on the cell caused by the intake or expulsion of water. Osmotic pressure is the pressure of the water If the turgor pressure in a cell is too great, than the cell may explode. If the turgor pressure inside the cell is too low, the cell will shrivel. • 31. Benefits And Tools Of Government Encouraging Export The benefits and tools of government encouraging export Nowadays, since the reform of WTO (World Trade Organization), trade barriers declined gradually over decades, in order to create more exchange between markets. Regulators from different governments had substantially focused on the same target, especially after 2008 worldwide financial crisis, to encourage more export from domestic producers. To boost both value and quantity of exports, officials from different governments provide various incentives to domestic producers. These incentives are designed to facilitate exporters over areas like production efficiency, production cost, competitive advantage, brand loyalty and financial cost. One of the most popular policies to exporters is government subsidies, illegal since 1995, which will normally decrease the price of export goods and services. Local governments pay the subsidies and their producers benefit from the subsidies by substantially outperforms international competitors, which do not subsidized by their government, on price factor. As stated above, subsidy is illegal since 1995, in the aim of creating more fair trade between markets. However, subsidy in agriculture sector is allowed by WTO, with the purpose to support and protect employments. Behaviourists believe that psychology should be seen as a science and therefore theories must be proved using controlled experiments whilst observing behaviour. Behaviourism is mainly concerned with observable behaviour rather than internal processes such as emotions. The psychodynamic approach to psychology is in complete contrast to that of the behavioural approach. Psychodynamic theorists look for the causes of behaviour in a dynamic interplay of inner motivational forces that often conflict with one another. They also suggest that many of these motivational determinants of behaviour are unconscious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As previously stated, behaviourists regard psychology as a science, therefore they believe that assumptions and theories need to be tested and controlled in order to examine the response. Behaviourism is not as concerned with internal events such as thinking and emotion as it is with observable action. Behaviour can be explained simply by the association between a stimulus and a response. There are both simple stimuli and complex stimuli all of which bring about a response. Responses can be explicit which refers to movements or actions which can be observed be behaviourists, Watson states that responses can also be implicit, for example nerve impulses which can also be observed by behaviourists with the use of the correct equipment. Finally behaviourism is based on the theoretical assumption that behaviour is learned through ones environment. This behaviour is learned through classical or operant conditioning. Classical conditioning is the way in which an organism learns to associate two stimuli such that one stimulus comes to elicit a response that was originally elicited only by the other stimulus (Holt, 2012). Holt describes operant learning as the way in which behaviour is influenced by consequences that follow it (Holt, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Analysis Of The Film Selma Equality and Justice false promises a nation was created to protect. The historical drama, Selma (2014), directed by Ava DuVernay, depicts some of the struggles African Americans faced in the pursuit of equality and justice during the mid 1950 s to 1960 s, and the role Martin Luther King Jr. played in his attempt to overcome such inequalities. Even before its release, Selma received backlash from critics who claimed it falsely depicted Lyndon B. Johnson at odds with Martin Luther King Jr, and alleged that the murder of the four girls at the Birmingham Church occurred in September 1963, rather than at the end of 1964, which the film suggests. Regardless of such claims, the film, Selma, does depict a historical event set forth by Martin Luther King Jr. in 1965. During this time period, racial segregation was prominent, especially in the southern states. The government justified such segregation based on the 14th Amendment s wording of separate but equal . However, many African Americans were dissatisfied and demanded true equality. It was not until the mid 1960 s, after Martin Luther King Jr. was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, that racial tension began to decline. Although Martin Luther King Jr. s role was invaluable in the Civil Rights Movement and required great courage, Selma aims to portray a complex side of King, mixing his bravery and determination with self doubts and internal conflicts in his pursuit of justice and equality. • 37. Rhetorical Analysis Of Bowling For Columbine In the 2002 documentary Bowling for Columbine, American political activist and filmmaker Michael Moore sets out to explore the primary causes of the 1999 Columbine Highschool massacre, as well as the roots of gun violence in the United States in his trademark provocative yet satirical manner. Bowling for Columbine takes a deep and often disconcerting investigation into the motives of two Colorado student shooters, responsible for the deaths of over 12 people at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999, and examines other gun related issues as well. From obtaining free guns at a bank, to reviewing America s violent history, and interviewing a variety of people, Moore demonstrates that the conventional answers of violent national history and entertainment, as well as poverty are inadequate of causing this violence, for other nations share the same factors without the same levels of carnage. In order to arrive at a possible explanation, Moore takes on a deeper inspection of America s culture of fear, and violence in a nation with widespread gun ownership. Ultimately, the documentary implies that the high incidence of gun deaths in America is caused by the deadly combination of cultural paranoia and easy accessible firearms that is, to some extent, effectively established through rhetorical techniques of ethos, logos, and pathos. To begin, Moore struggles to appeal to ethos successfully due to his manipulative methods that raises the audience s skepticism in his credibility, despite using many strong sources such as his reputation, experience, and the values of other experts in a desperate attempt to gain the audience s trust. Throughout the documentary, Moore is able to tactfully utilize his renowned reputation as a filmmaker to ensure that his audience will believe everything that he presents. By dressing like an average Joe and showing his own hometown of Flint, Michigan, a gun loving town , Moore is able to portray himself as the average American citizen who just wants facts and answers from the people. This is successfully used in the film as Moore seems more reliable to the audience, and makes his interviewees feel equal to Moore. Moreover, Moore also interviews many credible people who are able to back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Themes In The Road By Cormac Mccarthy In The Road, by Cormac McCarthy, a father and a child walk along a road in exile, unaware that they are also traveling along a path to enlightenment. The father and the child, moving south in a post apocalyptic world, look for safety and salvation. These experiences alienate them because they are trying to keep other survivors away from them, but also enriches them by bringing the boy and the father closer together. This suggests the deeper meaning that through struggle and strife we can become closer to those we love. The characters live in a dark, grey, ashen world. There is minimal light and no wildlife. The father describes the nights in this world as Nights beyond dark beyond darkness and the days each one more grey than what had gone before. (McCarthy 1) This sentence illuminates to the readers that the world in which the father and the child are living is not like ours and that they struggle to survive. It also examines how the characters view their own situation and surroundings. The characters exile in this grey world alienates them from the rest of humanity. One of the best examples of this is when the father picks up a phone and dials the number of his father s old house although he knows that no one will pick up and it is pointless to call. While the father is doing this the boy asks What are you doing? (McCarthy 7). This reinforces the point that the father and the child are all alone. No one will come and help them. Dickens uses the scene when the ghost of Christmas past, a child like old man uses flashbacks to show Scrooge of the memories he once made to show the nature of the much younger character. This is evident when Fan a little girl much younger than Scrooge had brought out the affection of her older brother as they planned to be together all the Christmas long, and have the merriest time in all the world. What is important about this example is not just that it shows the compassion Scrooge once felt but also that Scrooge is not truly crooked and horrible to the core establishing the uplifting and inspiring feeling to readers. Introduction Copper and copper alloys are widely applied in instruments and machines due to its high strength, excellent properties of thermal conductivity, and low price. With the rapid development of modern industry, people put forward higher demands for Cu alloy. The demand is in both terms quality as well as quantity, for the latter part research has been focused on the improvements in extraction processes, mining from ores than further extraction of copper to its purest form to increase productivity in measures of quantity. Also from a long time quality of metals is also a big challenge for a metallurgist. Quality measured in many terms like wear resistant, corrosion resistant, ductility, conductivity(both electrical and thermal), durability, abrasion etc. But as a metallurgical engineer our focus is on improving the mechanical properties like hardness, yield strength, ductility, corrosion resistance (environment specific), thermal properties and microstructure. It has been observed that cryogenic treatment can play the effects of increasing mechanical properties and dimensional stability. Cryogenic treatment of metals and alloys is relatively cheap, economical and eco friendly process to enhance its mechanical properties. In this case study, the main is on low stacking fault copper based alloys and processes to improve its mechanical properties.Cryogenic treatment (in this case case severe cryogenic deformation) is used for copper alloys to improve its mechanical ... • 45. The Importance Of Entering Into Agricultural Swap 1. Swap is defined as an agreement or contract between counterparties for the purpose to manage their exposure to risk. Our paper will specifically discuss about one of the commodity derivatives called as Agricultural Swap and referring to the the Agriculture Swap Contract Product (ASC) Disclosure Statement issued by Westpac Banking Corporation dated in 10 February 2016. The main purpose of entering into Agricultural Swap is to manage the exposure of the agriculture price s movement by locking the price of the agriculture for a long period (Barned 2012). Agriculture seller or buyer is entitled to exchange a floating price for a fixed price for a specified commodity (Westpac Banking Corporation 2016). Swaps have characteristics that similar and also differentiate them from other derivatives instruments (McDonald 2006), which are as follow: Swaps are categorized as non standardized contract; therefore they are traded over the counter (OTC). It is also indicate that there is a room of privacy and flexibility to customize the contract depending on the agreement between the relevant parties involved in the swap. Similar with the others derivatives instruments, swaps have also a zero initial market value. This implies that parties may enter and exit the swap contract without any cost besides the commissions and bid ask spread. In commodity swaps, settlement could be arranged with either physical (e.g. commodities) or financial (cash settlement). There are several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
