Before the housing development began, Oran Park was...
Before the housing development began, Oran Park was originally a raceway. The raceway was
operational from February 1962 to January 2010. The raceway held motoring events that were popular
to the entire state.
In addition to the raceway, there was also farmland.
Before the development occurred, dairy farming was a major use for this land. The dairy farm was
then demolished in order to put the race track in.
On this land in the early 1900s there was also a trotting track which was horses raced on, as well as a
golf club.

The Importance Of Cognitive Development In Willy Wonka And...
Childhood, as we all know, is the state or period of being a child; the early period in the development
of something (Merriam Webster). The movie Willy Wonka the Chocolate Factory (1971) illustrates
five different children with each having different behavior, and they have one thing in common they
are the only child in their family. These children are in the middle childhood, primary school age,
around age seven or eight. What makes them different from each other is interesting. It allows the
viewers to think if their behavior is either result of their experience or how they were raised. How they
perceive things and how they behave are part of their cognitive development. The major domain of
early childhood development is their cognitive development and the arguable aspects of the Nature
Nurture. The term cognition refers to how the mind operates and the study of cognitive development
focuses on how the mind thinks and learns during the early years of life (Universal Class, Inc.). The
major premise of Piaget s theory is that children go through various stages of cognitive development,
all of which are distinct from one another and influenced by both nature and nurture. (Universal Class,
Inc.). Nature is what we think of as pre wiring and is influenced by genetic inheritance and other
biological factors. Nurture is generally taken as the influence of external factors after conception, e.g.,
the product of exposure, experience and learning on an individual (Simply

Computer Is The Best Innovation
Computers is the best innovation, which be connected from various perspectives fields such as
mechanical, hardware, apply autonomy and so on. Machine helps individuals and make their life
simpler and their movement more beneficial, however there has showed up an issue of the machine
compulsion or reliance, particularly among the youngsters. Computers are advantageous gadgets that a
considerable lot of us utilize every day. Computers plays vital role of our lives, permitting us to
telecommute, stay in contact with each other, for example, funds, stocks and offers, and worldwide
news. Individuals can now hunt down practically everything without exception. There is truly an
entire universe of information readily available when we log on to the World Wide Web. A few sites
give free assets to understudies and experts. Be that as it may remember machines are not secure.
They crash. They get bugs. They can misconstrue words and provide for you an alternate one than the
one you needed. Character misrepresentation is not something you need either. Organizations can
spam your inbox. Programmers can take your cash. There are trackers and infections that can log each
key you write including passwords. Individual data can be spilled into the obscure domain of the web.
Furthermore individuals can get to be fixated. In any case, this is all most likely down to the
individual utilizing the machine. There is no mixing up that the web and machines have profited the

The Valley Of The Dolls By Jacqueline Susann
The Valley of the Dolls Popular and well known writer Jacqueline Susann wrote the book Valley of
the Dolls in 1966 which Hollywood made into a movie in 1967. The movie starred three top actresses
at that time Barbara Perkins, Patty Duke and Sharon Tate. I must say that I read the novel and
thoroughly enjoyed it but the movie was a disappointment to me. As much as I tried to relate the book
to the movie it was lacking a lot for me. The author Jacqueline Susann worked as a model and actress
in New York City. She got small roles in some Broadway plays and even though she tried she never
made it big in Hollywood, California. However her novels were made into movies. The one good
thing was that during this time she was able to observe everything

Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics Essay example
In Book 1 of Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics, he argues that happiness is the best good, and the goal of
an individual and of those leading and governing society. Here, happiness is understood as both living
well and doing well, rather than the convention sense of happiness as an emotion. According to
Aristotle, happiness is achieved though actions involving reason and in accord with virtue, or the best
of the virtues of there are more than one. In this paper, I will provide a brief overview of the work and
its author, then proceed to provide an overview of the ideas expressed and the argumentation
supporting them, before finally performing an analysis and critique of the ideas expressed.

In Book 1, he defines the best and most sought after human good as happiness. After discussing and
reinforcing his concept of happiness as the most desired and best good, and the goal of a human life,
the discussion segues into an examination of virtue and the rest of the work.
Throughout this Book 1, the discussion digresses multiple times to explore the method by which the
topic will be examined. Realising that concepts such as happiness are subjective, he establishes in the
third Chapter that the fruits of the discussion will be satisfactory so long as it holds true universally.
He also considers in Chapter four whether the discussion should originate from the principles, or from
our experiences, and suggests that we should being from things known and immediate to us, which
seems to be a logical choice as the discussions as a whole focus on what a man should do in order to
act according to virtue in order to become good and attain happiness. In addition, the sixth Chapter is
devoted to criticism of the theory of Forms. Since good can exist in so many different ways, but are
undoubtedly good, Aristotle argues that there is no common idea governing it. He also denies the
existence of separate Forms that are merely mimicked by what we perceive, since a thing and the

Solution And Responding Alternative Dispute Resolution
Reporting and Responding
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is defined by the National Alternative Dispute Resolution
Advisory Council (NADRAC) as an umbrella term for processes, other than judicial determination, in
which an impartial person assists those in a dispute to resolve the issues between them . There are six
key processes involved in ADR, one of which is mediation. Mediation is one of the most common
forms of alternative dispute resolution. In Australia, ADR is the predominant way of resolving
disputes and which therefore signifies the importance of students studying this subject in their law
degree. Furthermore it is argued that without a compulsory ADR subject, Universities are

It also improved my knowledge, the steps involved and furthermore gave me confidence in
participating in a mediation process. However, when reflecting on the role play, question is raised to
whether my experience of the mediation role play was consistent with mediation literature. The
philosophy of mediation revolves around themes and features which set mediation apart from the
other forms of dispute resolution. Three themes that arose during this assessment, which assist in
proving that the role play was consistent with mediation literature, include empowerment,
communication and voluntariness.
Relating
Personal skills, experience and knowledge can be negative and/or positive contributing factors when
participating in a mediation role play. I knew that in order to succeed in this assessment I would need
a thorough knowledge and understanding of the mediation process. For this reason, I spent a
significant amount of time learning about each step of the process such as the mediation opening,
parties opening statements, agenda, private caucus, agreement, along with others. Myself and my
other group member, playing the role of the client, were also given a personal list of facts regarding
our situation. It was essential for me to know and understand these facts in a thorough manner in order
to be successful. Having knowledge of the mediation process and the facts of my role contributed

While the rapid explosion of tourism in these cities have had positive economic benefits since the rise
out of a communist and socialist regime, there has been an inability to raise universal support from the
Czech and German people for the commercialization and westernization that tourism inevitably brings
(Cooper, 1998).
Tourism is one of the major industries in Prague, contributing to its rapid economic recovery in 1990
after the velvet revolution and the fall of communism, with approximately 300,000 tourists visiting the
city every day (Cooper, 1998). While this may seem a positive way of re establishing itself as a city
financially, it is the cultural and historical aspect of Prague that suffers, along with its people. While
the Czech Republic is concerned about the economic future of its nation, it is simultaneously
neglecting to protect the cultural heritage of the nation and its people. As a result the Republic is
further deepening the social cleavages that already exist while inevitably creating another clone city
whose movies, music, fashion and even food have been taken over by westernization. The city s
unique and true culture is thus being threatened with the invasion of Irish pubs, McDonalds and K
Mart and United Colors of Bennetton stores at each corner intensifying the city s tourist atmosphere
(Cooper, 1994). The rise

The Moral Of The Story Of Antigone
There is no such thing as an accident; an accident fate misnamed. Outside the city gates, Antigone tells
Ismene that Creon has ordered that Eteocles, who died defending the city, is to be buried with full
honors, while the body of Polynices, the invader, is left to rot. Furthermore, Creon has declared that
anyone attempting to bury Polynices shall be publicly stoned to death. Outraged, Antigone reveals to
Ismene a plan to bury Polynices in secret, despite Creon s order. When Ismene timidly refuses to defy
the king, Antigone angrily rejects her and goes off alone to bury her brother. This play creates an
underlying theme or moral, the moral of a story is often an implied lesson you can learn from a
character s experience. In Antigone, the moral of the story is that of fate. This moral is incorporated
through the actions of both Creon and Antigone. The moral also corresponds with a recurring theme of
the abuse of power, something that Creon is more than guilty of. This theme is incorporated in the
many words and actions brought forward by Creon, the king of Thebes. Antigone, a young, ambitious,
powerful beyond her knowledge girl sets the reader up with her awareness of the power of fate, in
which she attributes all the tragedy in her family to the almighty Zeus. Fate being the upcoming of
events beyond a person s control, something that is destined to happen. We see fate throughout the
story occur over again, it is a common action bestowed upon both Creon and Antigone.

The Importance Of Commercial Buildings In The Ottoman Empire
Secondly, commercial buildings were so popular in Cairo because it was already a major trading point
for the Ottoman Empire. The different type of commercial buildings were wikalas, khans, qaisariyas,
suqs, and funduqs. Ismail explains that these type of buildings existed since the Mameluke Empire
period, but they were kept being built during the Ottoman Empire, with some minor changes.
The wikalas were buildings located within the city walls and had a design that had shops on the
ground floor that faced onto courtyards and a rab system (living quarters) on the upper floors. Some of
the shops from the ground level had special designs in their facades that allowed the merchants to
display the imported goods that they had for sale. The building had only one entrance per each facade,
and each of them led to the open central courtyard that aside from shops, had storerooms for the
merchant s goods. To get access to the upper floors, people had to use staircases that were usually
placed in a corner of the facades (Ismail 2005).
The khans and funduqs were buildings that had combined functions of hostel and trading centre and
were used mostly by traveling merchants and visitors to the city. These buildings were built mostly
near the trading routes outside the city, and they required towers for extra protection, however, some
of them were located inside the city and did not required to be fortified because of it. A major
difference is that these buildings did not had shops in

Monsanto Research Papers
Andy Head
ENGL 1020
Exploratory Outline
Research Proposal: Consumer Trust in the Food Industry
I. Convenience. Many Americans don t know what they would do without the convenience of
everyday life in America. The Food Industry is at the helm of this simple lifestyle. If you re hungry,
you go to the supermarket and buy what you want. You don t need to worry about hunting for meat or
growing and harvesting plants. Now, all of the hard work involved in obtaining and producing food is
the responsibility of food corporations. In their sophisticated factories, they raise animals and grow
plants, they take care of the hard work and we enjoy the simplicity of supermarket choices. However,
is it such a good idea to place so much blind trust in these companies? Literally every piece of food
we buy at a supermarket, or restaurant comes from one or more large corporations. Unless you buy
food from a local farm, or grow it yourself, you are eating the products of a company s hard working
employees. I ve noticed over the past few years that a certain stigma has started to surround these food
producing companies. Monsanto is almost always in the news and someone is always protesting some
food company because of what they may or may not have done. The root of this stigma seems to be
the result of consumer trust. Every day seems to bring some food related issue to the forefront of every
news outlet. I propose a research project in which I will take a deep look into how much trust, or lack

WWII and the Road to Midway Essay
World War Two came to America on December 7th, 1941. The focus on America s involvement in the
war generally focuses on the European front. What must be remembered is the time and sacrifices
made in the Pacific theatre. America s entry into the war on the Pacific was not an immediate success.
It took American forces until the summer of 1942 at the Battle of Midway to become properly
prepared for the war. The American military learned much from their losses both through the strengths
of the Japanese forces and America s own faults. After these losses were realized, changes were made
within the military. These improvements allowed the American forces to turn the war back and begin
to have successes in the Pacific. Pearl Harbour ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another aspect of the Japanese success was powerful and effective tactics. Tactics include the training
of the Japanese soldiers and their objectives in battle. Japanese soldiers were trained to die honourable
to fight to the death and never be taken prisoner3. Training the soldiers to fight this way was not only
traditionally Japanese, but it inspired them to continue fighting beyond what would be seen as a
reasonable time. This sincere dedication to defending their people and Emperor (the cause of this
training) allowed the Japanese soldiers to be effective killers even when faced with undeniable
defeat4. Beyond their training, the Japanese had other advantages in their battle objectives. The use of
radar was essential to the Americans, and so the Japanese were often ordered to target the radar
stations on islands before beginning full assaults5. Targeting the radar stations prevented the
Americans from properly estimating the Japanese forces or from knowing where they were headed.
The final tactical advantage the Japanese had was that their air force consisted of small experienced
squads especially for important missions6. Having been involved in a number of minor wars in east
Asia in the 1930s, Japanese forces were far more experienced; this lead to a much greater
effectiveness than the inexperienced Americans. Technologically, Japan was also ahead of America at
the outset of the war. This, partially, is due to experience and having been

Agatha Christie Legacy
Although Agatha Christie is no longer alive, her legacy and love for mysteries lives on today. Agatha
Christie was a writer of all genres but her most influential and remembered book was a thrilling
mystery novel titled And Then There Were None. Christie s use of descriptive and detailed characters
are still the typical mystery characters used today. Her book became so famous that they made a
movie based off it, but her writing also inspired other movies and works of literature. In the movie

stereotypical mystery characters from her mystery novel. A very famous and well known board game,

The Fall Of The House Of Usher And Other Tales
Many authors try to focus on one thing in their works, and some do succeed. However, others try to
bring out multiple faces of life through their creativity and styles of writing. In the Romantic period of
American literature, several ink slingers bring out specific motifs in their works. Edgar Allen Poe in
his collection, The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Tales , writes in a form that betrays the
Romantic style with his use of symbolism and his focus on the individual in his short stories.
A major idea in Poe s tales is symbolism. He displays his penchant for this in his story The Cask of
Amontillado with his character named Fortunado. In this story, Fortunado is a man who has somehow
wronged the narrator. The narrator leads Fortunado

The Unbreakable Bond In American Horse By Louise Erdrich
The Unbreakable Bond
When families are torn apart, the pain can be devastating and last a lifetime. When a child is removed
from a home, they can t always comprehend why they were taken away. A child may think they did
something wrong. They may not realize that it is for their own good. In this case, Buddy wants to stay
with his mother, even though their living conditions are rudimentary. Louise Erdrich s short story,
American Horse, shows how a bond between a mother and her child can be present in less than ideal
circumstances.° This is shown when Buddy hugs Albertine like a gorilla, when he feels the satin roses,
and the emergency chocolate bar.*
Buddy s relationship with his mother seems very strong. Buddy clearly loves his mother in many
ways. Erdrich explains that when Buddy tries to hug Albertine, she told him to stop hugging her like a
gorilla (17). Often, when children hug their parents, a special connection is made that can last a
lifetime. Sometimes when Buddy hugs his mother he would envision her saying, Let s get married
(17). Young children have a special bond with their parents and it isn t uncommon for a child to want
to marry one of them. That is part of the imagination of a young child. Also, a child s imagination can
have a deeper darker side. Erdrich displays that Buddy would have times when he wished that she
[Albertine] would die (17). Buddy hates himself for thinking those thoughts knowing that someday his
wish could come true. He embraces

Development Of Modernism After World War II
After the Second World War, attention immediately turned towards reconstructing a better world. Like
the earlier world war, it destroyed a previous social and economic order (Curtis, 1996). Many of tall
buildings were built to meet the large number of human requirements. Modernism was rapidly
developed at that time. This essay aims to explore the development of modernism after World War II
by compare and contrast the two apartments which are Hansaviertel Apartment in German and Society
Hill Towers in the USA. It first discusses the similarity of the two chosen buildings. Then explains the
difference of design, which includes surroundings, building form and the apartment layout.
Furthermore, explore the factors lead to those difference which are policy, the influence of the other
architects and architects own belief.
As cities were destroyed during the war, there were increasing needs of buildings especially the
apartments and houses. These two chosen projects have the same functions as apartments. They were
both high rise buildings, which were built as a part of the redevelopment of the city after the war. The
Hansaviertel Apartment was built in 1957, Berlin, Germany and designed by Alar Aalto. The other one
is named Society Hill Towers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I.M Pei is the designer for this apartment.
The two apartments were built at the same time but contrast greatly in term of design, which can
represent the several kinds of development of modernism after the

Popular Culture
What is popular (low) culture? Popular culture is a symbolic expression allegedly aligned with the
questionable tastes of the masses, who enjoy commercial junk circulated by the mass media, such as
soap operas, rock music, talk radio, comic books, and monster truck pulls (Campbell, 18). When
looking at the high low hierarchy it often determines the way people view culture as a whole today,
saying high culture is good taste and low culture is questionable taste. Many audiences take for
granted the world of high culture and fine art causing many young people to not know where a library
or museum is located, which promotes people to overlook important information for a paper or
research project on a certain topics. Now many tend to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This blurs the distinctions between fact and fiction, and of art and commerce. As exemplified by
Campbell, Although endurance does not necessarily denote quality, in the view of many critics better
forms of culture have more staying power (23). Democratic reasoning causes the popular media to
inhibit social audiences by promising that products will work for them. TV advertising and daytime
talk shows are two examples of undermining democratic reasoning. A lot of different audiences are
being seduced by the promise of products inhibiting social progress by transforming them into social
hypnotism. Multinational corporations are know from making large profits from media products by
distracting citizens into believing that they will see a change. Weight loss commercials are known for
seductive advertising showing toned, polished bodies on professional models which often contradict
the actual lives of human beings, who can only hope to achieve a particular look. Many people do not
have the financial means to obtain these cosmetic products seen in many local stores. So many people
are addicted to the mass produced media menus that they have lost not only the will to challenge
social inequalities but also their discriminating taste for finer fare (Campbell, 23). In relation, the

Obstacles
The benefits and lucrative potential of Virtual Project Management are many, but like all good things,
come at a price in the form of new management complications. Fostering open and meaningful
communication, gaining the trust and respect of remote members, and building trust between members
is the greatest challenge to the virtual PM. It is difficult for virtual team members to get to know each
other well; consequently, they tend to communicate poorly because they often are less than
comfortable with each other. [1] Communication is paramount in any project. Dennis S. and Michelle
L. Reina define three types of communication that project managers must address for virtual work to
be possible: contractual, communication, and competence trust. [4]
Contractual trust this is essentially doing what you say you will do. The virtual PM needs to manage
expectations, establish clear boundaries, delegate appropriately, honor agreements, and, above all, be
consistent in their words and actions. This kind of trust is especially frail in today s workplaces
because of the legacy of layoffs, downsizing, and reorganization that reengineering and economic
problems have brought to the modern

Mersault s The Stranger
It is the beginning of the book. We know nothing of the plot that is to come, nothing of the narrator
Mersault, and nothing of his eventual demise. The Stranger could have begun with Mersault
introducing himself, or with a description of the setting, but instead it began with the following quote:
Maman died today. Or yesterday maybe, I don t know. I got a telegram from the home: Mother
deceased. Funeral tomorrow. Faithfully ours. That doesn t mean anything. Maybe it was yesterday.
And that is how The Stranger begins, and Mersault is introduced. This line manages to summarize a
large portion of Mersault s personality in a minimal amount of words. Mersault expresses that the
telegram doesn t mean anything, which at first seems absurd since it clearly informed him of his
mother s death. What is important to realize, is that this statement is in fact true, because Mersault is
focusing on when his mother died, not the fact that she passed away. Due to Mersault s distance from
his mother, both logistically and mentally, her death means nothing to Mersault. What he seems to be
interested in, is when she died. This is evident by the fact that he opens and closes the paragraph by

believe are awareness and personal experience bias. Awareness is something that until it is put in to
public knowledge the issue will never move on. For example the amount of funding that breast cancer
gets compared to most other medical issues is huge. The reason for that is the awareness level of
breast cancer in the public eye and how common it is for a high level of personal experiences with it

Quotes From Aesop s Miserables
Aesop s Fables , by Aesop, is a collection of fables that tell moral lessons about the world. The

Aesop s Fables teaches us that people in the world aren t perfect. For example, A cottager and his wife

inside... they killed it... they found to their surprise that it differed in no respect than their other hens. (

Essay about Impact of Sea Otters on Community Ecology
Introduction Sea otters (Enhydra lutris) are marine mammals capable of spending their entire lives in
water. Being carnivorous in nature, they feed on sea urchins, crabs, fishes, mussels and clams. They
are referred to as keystone species due to their profound impact on marine ecology. The interaction
between sea otters, sea urchins and kelp forests has been studied as a model for the impact of predator
prey interactions on community ecology. Sea otters are keystone predators, whose presence has a far
reaching influence on the marine food web by affecting the populations of sea urchins, which
indirectly affects the populations of kelp ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, sea otters play an indirect, yet vital role in the preservation of kelp forests. This in turn
protects kelp forests and other macroalgae, which would have otherwise been depleted due to grazing
by sea urchins. Where sea otters abound so do lush kelp forests, and where sea otters are absent the
habitat is typically deforested by hyperabundant sea urchins (Soulé et al 1240). The significance of
this interaction can be wholly surmised only when the importance of kelp forests is understood. Kelp
forests are a source of food and habitat for dozens of other coastal species (Soulé et al 1240).
Innumerable coastal marine organisms thrive on kelp forests, enhancing biodiversity of the region.
Therefore, to maintain the diversity and richness of coastal marine ecology, sea otters should be
preserved, who indirectly lead to the preservation of kelps. Impact of sea otters on community ecology
The presence or absence of sea otters influences marine ecology at the community level. Studies have
shown that kelp forests enhance the underwater environment, providing a suitable habitat for fishes.
The declining kelp beds in California in the mid 1900 s propelled the Kelp Habitat Improvement
Project, whereby attempts were made to eliminate sea urchins that are

The Career Of Nursing Career
Nursing When people are sick or injured they need someone to take care of them and may need to see
a doctor. But usually there are other professionals who will see them first and provide hands on care
before the doctor arrives. Many of these professionals are nurses. Within the healthcare sector focused
on the care of individuals, families and communities, nurses may help patients attain, maintain, or
recover optimal health and quality of life. When considering a nursing career, one needs to be aware
of the education and training required, the potential salaries of nurses, the history of nurses, the
locations of hospitals were is the nurses working, and the characteristics nurses need to be successful.
The history of nurses includes different kinds of nursing. Regarding the clinical nurse specialist, the
national league for nursing education first drew up a plan to create the clinical nurse specialist role in
the 1940s. The first master s degree program opened in 1950 at Rutgers University; the only specialty
offered at that time was psychiatric nursing. By 1970, clinical nurse specialty certification had become
available in a number of fields in response to increased specialization in health care, the development
of new technologies, and need to provide alternative, cost efficient health care in the physician
shortage of the 1960s (Ferguson A 9). Educational programs for nurses are a fairly recent addition to

Summary Of In Praise Of Shadows
Throughout author Jun ichirō Tanizaki s In Praise of Shadows , he expresses his firm belief that
simplicity and contrast common Japanese values have immense beauty, even as these elements
become less common in a changing society. As the world around him shifts away from these values,
and more towards values of innovation and uniformity, he feels Japanese traditions deserve to remain
appreciated and understood. As a result, Tanizaki utilizes shadows to represent not only literal
shadows but also the various traditions in Japanese culture that are becoming more underappreciated,
as time goes on. Similarly to shadows, these Japanese customs seem to go unnoticed and are no longer
a significant aspect of everyday life. Tanizaki s use of metaphors and repetition throughout In Praise
of Shadows help to exemplify his high gratitude of traditional Japanese Culture. For many portions of
the essay, Tanizaki is praising the beauty of shadows within the world around him. This is quite
prevalent in the section about gold. Although he speaks often about how he doesn t enjoy the beauty of
lustrous metals that shine aggressively, Tanizaki has a differing opinion when it comes to gold. He
beckons, And surely you have seen, in the darkness of innermost rooms... how gold leaf... will pick up

inviting; absorbing light in beautiful ways that seem almost impossible. Tanizaki

Comparing the poems Neutral Tones and Absence Essay
Comparing the poems Neutral Tones and Absence
Both the poems Neutral Tones by Thomas Hardy and Absence by
Elizabeth Jennings mention and describe the poets feelings about losing their partners. Even though
the general theme, the loss of love, is the same, many features such as tone, imagery, language and
rhyme scheme differ from each other.
Hardy emphasises more on his feelings towards his break up. He doesn t actually mention how he
feels, but instead, the imagery he uses and the way he describes his ex girlfriend shows that he feels
broken and angry. The tone in this poem is very solemn and dull, though it is quite strong in some

Hardy seems frustrated at the girl rather than sad that she is leaving him. The line the smile on your
mouth was the deadest thing is a very forceful line and implies that he is annoyed and not lamenting.
On the other hand, Jennings is angry because the environment she was in didn t share her devastation
and loneliness. She called the birds
thoughtless , which shows she was angry with them and it also gives the impression that she feels the
birds were supposed to feel her pain with her, but instead, was oblivious to her misery. The line, which
suggests that she wants to feel happy, is singing an ecstasy I could not share .
The two poets also use different imageries to convey their feelings.
The poems are set in two totally different backgrounds. Neutral
Tones was set in a lifeless place but Absence was set in a place that was merry.
Hardy uses dead images in his poem such as a winter day , which symbolises coldness and bitterness,
sun was white chidden of God to symbolise gloom and melancholy, starving sod and many more. All
these images that Hardy use, emphasise the fact that they have broken up and how he feels angry yet
heart broken at the same time. These
dead images are very appropriate to this poem because they show that even nature could sense the loss
of passion and the death of a relationship. Hardy uses colours like white and grey which are dull
colours. I also imagine the colour brown even though it is

France began its journey to colonization when they were on a mission to discover the Northwest

leadership theories like Contingency, and Transnational leadership. I had to learn how to be a leader

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Psychological Disorders
A psychological disorder is defined as a behavior that exhibits a collection of symptoms that cause
stress and/or disability to an individual. These disorders can range from alcohol and substance abuse
to Alzhiemer s and schizophrenia. Studies show that about 46% of the United States population suffers
from a mental disorder some time in their life. There are many forms of treatment available, as the
effects of these disorders cause distress and suffering not only to the individual, but for those around
them too. The two main forms of treatment are biomedical therapy and verbal therapy. Biomedical
therapies are medicinal drugs administered to a patient by a psychiatrist. Verbal therapies are talk
sessions that a patient has with a psychologist. The prescription of drugs is the most common type of
treatment in resolving psychological disorders. Based on a study done by the National Center for
Health Statistics, the usage of psychiatric drugs, more specifically antidepressant drugs, went up 400%
in the span of just twenty years. This may be because medications are seen as an answer to people s
prayers. People think that they re fast and they ll cure anything and everything, making people feel
normal again. Therapy could be quite expensive when compared to medication, making individuals
choose drugs over therapy. Another reason for more people wanting to use medication could be that
there are many commercials on TV and on the radio advocating for medicinal drug usage, but

Childhood, as we all know, is the state or period of being a child; the early period in the development of something (Merriam Webster). The movie Willy Wonka the Chocolate Factory (1971) illustrates five different children with each having different behavior, and they have one thing in common they are the only child in their family. These children are in the middle childhood, primary school age, around age seven or eight. What makes them different from each other is interesting. Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics Essay example In Book 1 of Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics, he argues that happiness is the best good, and the goal of an individual and of those leading and governing society. Here, happiness is understood as both living well and doing well, rather than the convention sense of happiness as an emotion. According to Aristotle, happiness is achieved though actions involving reason and in accord with virtue, or the best of the virtues of there are more than one. In this paper, I will provide a brief overview of the work and its author, then proceed to provide an overview of the ideas expressed and the argumentation supporting them, before finally performing an analysis and critique of the ideas expressed. After discussing and reinforcing his concept of happiness as the most desired and best good, and the goal of a human life, the discussion segues into an examination of virtue and the rest of the work. Throughout this Book 1, the discussion digresses multiple times to explore the method by which the topic will be examined. Realising that concepts such as happiness are subjective, he establishes in the third Chapter that the fruits of the discussion will be satisfactory so long as it holds true universally. He also considers in Chapter four whether the discussion should originate from the principles, or from our experiences, and suggests that we should being from things known and immediate to us, which seems to be a logical choice as the discussions as a whole focus on what a man should do in order to act according to virtue in order to become good and attain happiness. In addition, the sixth Chapter is devoted to criticism of the theory of Forms. Since good can exist in so many different ways, but are undoubtedly good, Aristotle argues that there is no common idea governing it. He also denies the existence of separate Forms that are merely mimicked by what we perceive, since a thing and the Thing Itself has the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While the rapid explosion of tourism in these cities have had positive economic benefits since the rise out of a communist and socialist regime, there has been an inability to raise universal support from the Czech and German people for the commercialization and westernization that tourism inevitably brings (Cooper, 1998). Tourism is one of the major industries in Prague, contributing to its rapid economic recovery in 1990 after the velvet revolution and the fall of communism, with approximately 300,000 tourists visiting the city every day (Cooper, 1998). While this may seem a positive way of re establishing itself as a city financially, it is the cultural and historical aspect of Prague that suffers, along with its people. While the Czech Republic is concerned about the economic future of its nation, it is simultaneously neglecting to protect the cultural heritage of the nation and its people. As a result the Republic is further deepening the social cleavages that already exist while inevitably creating another clone city whose movies, music, fashion and even food have been taken over by westernization. Outside the city gates, Antigone tells Ismene that Creon has ordered that Eteocles, who died defending the city, is to be buried with full honors, while the body of Polynices, the invader, is left to rot. Furthermore, Creon has declared that anyone attempting to bury Polynices shall be publicly stoned to death. Outraged, Antigone reveals to Ismene a plan to bury Polynices in secret, despite Creon s order. When Ismene timidly refuses to defy the king, Antigone angrily rejects her and goes off alone to bury her brother. This play creates an underlying theme or moral, the moral of a story is often an implied lesson you can learn from a character s experience. In Antigone, the moral of the story is that of fate. This moral is incorporated through the actions of both Creon and Antigone. The moral also corresponds with a recurring theme of the abuse of power, something that Creon is more than guilty of. This theme is incorporated in the many words and actions brought forward by Creon, the king of Thebes. Antigone, a young, ambitious, powerful beyond her knowledge girl sets the reader up with her awareness of the power of fate, in which she attributes all the tragedy in her family to the almighty Zeus. Fate being the upcoming of events beyond a person s control, something that is destined to happen. • 11. The Importance Of Commercial Buildings In The Ottoman Empire Secondly, commercial buildings were so popular in Cairo because it was already a major trading point for the Ottoman Empire. The different type of commercial buildings were wikalas, khans, qaisariyas, suqs, and funduqs. Ismail explains that these type of buildings existed since the Mameluke Empire period, but they were kept being built during the Ottoman Empire, with some minor changes. The wikalas were buildings located within the city walls and had a design that had shops on the ground floor that faced onto courtyards and a rab system (living quarters) on the upper floors. Some of the shops from the ground level had special designs in their facades that allowed the merchants to display the imported goods that they had for sale. The building had only one entrance per each facade, and each of them led to the open central courtyard that aside from shops, had storerooms for the merchant s goods. To get access to the upper floors, people had to use staircases that were usually placed in a corner of the facades (Ismail 2005). The khans and funduqs were buildings that had combined functions of hostel and trading centre and were used mostly by traveling merchants and visitors to the city. These buildings were built mostly near the trading routes outside the city, and they required towers for extra protection, however, some of them were located inside the city and did not required to be fortified because of it. • 15. Monsanto Research Papers Andy Head ENGL 1020 Exploratory Outline Research Proposal: Consumer Trust in the Food Industry I. Convenience. Many Americans don t know what they would do without the convenience of everyday life in America. The Food Industry is at the helm of this simple lifestyle. If you re hungry, you go to the supermarket and buy what you want. You don t need to worry about hunting for meat or growing and harvesting plants. Now, all of the hard work involved in obtaining and producing food is the responsibility of food corporations. In their sophisticated factories, they raise animals and grow plants, they take care of the hard work and we enjoy the simplicity of supermarket choices. However, is it such a good idea to place so much blind trust in these companies? Literally every piece of food we buy at a supermarket, or restaurant comes from one or more large corporations. Unless you buy food from a local farm, or grow it yourself, you are eating the products of a company s hard working employees. I ve noticed over the past few years that a certain stigma has started to surround these food producing companies. Monsanto is almost always in the news and someone is always protesting some food company because of what they may or may not have done. The root of this stigma seems to be the result of consumer trust. Every day seems to bring some food related issue to the forefront of every news outlet. What must be remembered is the time and sacrifices made in the Pacific theatre. America s entry into the war on the Pacific was not an immediate success. It took American forces until the summer of 1942 at the Battle of Midway to become properly prepared for the war. The American military learned much from their losses both through the strengths of the Japanese forces and America s own faults. After these losses were realized, changes were made within the military. These improvements allowed the American forces to turn the war back and begin to have successes in the Pacific. Tactics include the training of the Japanese soldiers and their objectives in battle. Japanese soldiers were trained to die honourable to fight to the death and never be taken prisoner3. Training the soldiers to fight this way was not only traditionally Japanese, but it inspired them to continue fighting beyond what would be seen as a reasonable time. This sincere dedication to defending their people and Emperor (the cause of this training) allowed the Japanese soldiers to be effective killers even when faced with undeniable defeat4. Beyond their training, the Japanese had other advantages in their battle objectives. The use of radar was essential to the Americans, and so the Japanese were often ordered to target the radar stations on islands before beginning full assaults5. Targeting the radar stations prevented the Americans from properly estimating the Japanese forces or from knowing where they were headed. The final tactical advantage the Japanese had was that their air force consisted of small experienced squads especially for important missions6. Having been involved in a number of minor wars in east Asia in the 1930s, Japanese forces were far more experienced; this lead to a much greater effectiveness than the inexperienced Americans. Technologically, Japan was also ahead of America at the outset of the war. This, partially, is due to experience and having been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When a child is removed from a home, they can t always comprehend why they were taken away. A child may think they did something wrong. They may not realize that it is for their own good. In this case, Buddy wants to stay with his mother, even though their living conditions are rudimentary. Louise Erdrich s short story, American Horse, shows how a bond between a mother and her child can be present in less than ideal circumstances.° This is shown when Buddy hugs Albertine like a gorilla, when he feels the satin roses, and the emergency chocolate bar.* Buddy s relationship with his mother seems very strong. Buddy clearly loves his mother in many ways. Erdrich explains that when Buddy tries to hug Albertine, she told him to stop hugging her like a gorilla (17). Often, when children hug their parents, a special connection is made that can last a lifetime. Sometimes when Buddy hugs his mother he would envision her saying, Let s get married (17). Young children have a special bond with their parents and it isn t uncommon for a child to want to marry one of them. That is part of the imagination of a young child. This reduction or elimination of expenses associated with travel, lodging, etc., results in a huge savings for the company. The list could go and on, but the point is, there is definitely a growing demand for and benefit of virtual teams. Obstacles The benefits and lucrative potential of Virtual Project Management are many, but like all good things, come at a price in the form of new management complications. Fostering open and meaningful communication, gaining the trust and respect of remote members, and building trust between members is the greatest challenge to the virtual PM. It is difficult for virtual team members to get to know each other well; consequently, they tend to communicate poorly because they often are less than comfortable with each other. [1] Communication is paramount in any project. Dennis S. and Michelle L. Reina define three types of communication that project managers must address for virtual work to be possible: contractual, communication, and competence trust. [4] Contractual trust this is essentially doing what you say you will do. The virtual PM needs to manage expectations, establish clear boundaries, delegate appropriately, honor agreements, and, above all, be consistent in their words and actions. This kind of trust is especially frail in today s workplaces because of the legacy of layoffs, downsizing, and reorganization that reengineering and economic problems have brought to the modern ... • 27. Mersault s The Stranger It is the beginning of the book. We know nothing of the plot that is to come, nothing of the narrator Mersault, and nothing of his eventual demise. The Stranger could have begun with Mersault introducing himself, or with a description of the setting, but instead it began with the following quote: Maman died today. Or yesterday maybe, I don t know. I got a telegram from the home: Mother deceased. Funeral tomorrow. Faithfully ours. That doesn t mean anything. Maybe it was yesterday. And that is how The Stranger begins, and Mersault is introduced. This line manages to summarize a large portion of Mersault s personality in a minimal amount of words. Mersault expresses that the telegram doesn t mean anything, which at first seems absurd since it clearly informed him of his mother s death. What is important to realize, is that this statement is in fact true, because Mersault is focusing on when his mother died, not the fact that she passed away. Due to Mersault s distance from his mother, both logistically and mentally, her death means nothing to Mersault. What he seems to be interested in, is when she died. This is evident by the fact that he opens and closes the paragraph by questioning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yes there is something for me to gain by taking her session however I am unsure what it is. They played a vital part in allowing me to advance to the stage I am at but at the time I didn t think it was important. Even though I don t know what I would get new experiences are a way to grow. The most important lessons to take away from this I believe are awareness and personal experience bias. Awareness is something that until it is put in to public knowledge the issue will never move on. For example the amount of funding that breast cancer gets compared to most other medical issues is huge. The reason for that is the awareness level of breast cancer in the public eye and how common it is for a high level of personal experiences with it in some way. Personal ... • 32. Essay about Impact of Sea Otters on Community Ecology Introduction Sea otters (Enhydra lutris) are marine mammals capable of spending their entire lives in water. Being carnivorous in nature, they feed on sea urchins, crabs, fishes, mussels and clams. They are referred to as keystone species due to their profound impact on marine ecology. The interaction between sea otters, sea urchins and kelp forests has been studied as a model for the impact of predator prey interactions on community ecology. Sea otters are keystone predators, whose presence has a far reaching influence on the marine food web by affecting the populations of sea urchins, which indirectly affects the populations of kelp ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, sea otters play an indirect, yet vital role in the preservation of kelp forests. This in turn protects kelp forests and other macroalgae, which would have otherwise been depleted due to grazing by sea urchins. Where sea otters abound so do lush kelp forests, and where sea otters are absent the habitat is typically deforested by hyperabundant sea urchins (Soulé et al 1240). The significance of this interaction can be wholly surmised only when the importance of kelp forests is understood. Kelp forests are a source of food and habitat for dozens of other coastal species (Soulé et al 1240). Innumerable coastal marine organisms thrive on kelp forests, enhancing biodiversity of the region. Therefore, to maintain the diversity and richness of coastal marine ecology, sea otters should be preserved, who indirectly lead to the preservation of kelps. Impact of sea otters on community ecology The presence or absence of sea otters influences marine ecology at the community level. Studies have shown that kelp forests enhance the underwater environment, providing a suitable habitat for fishes. The declining kelp beds in California in the mid 1900 s propelled the Kelp Habitat Improvement Project, whereby attempts were made to eliminate sea urchins that are ... • 35. Summary Of In Praise Of Shadows Throughout author Jun ichirō Tanizaki s In Praise of Shadows , he expresses his firm belief that simplicity and contrast common Japanese values have immense beauty, even as these elements become less common in a changing society. As the world around him shifts away from these values, and more towards values of innovation and uniformity, he feels Japanese traditions deserve to remain appreciated and understood. As a result, Tanizaki utilizes shadows to represent not only literal shadows but also the various traditions in Japanese culture that are becoming more underappreciated, as time goes on. Similarly to shadows, these Japanese customs seem to go unnoticed and are no longer a significant aspect of everyday life. Tanizaki s use of metaphors and repetition throughout In Praise of Shadows help to exemplify his high gratitude of traditional Japanese Culture. For many portions of the essay, Tanizaki is praising the beauty of shadows within the world around him. This is quite prevalent in the section about gold. Although he speaks often about how he doesn t enjoy the beauty of lustrous metals that shine aggressively, Tanizaki has a differing opinion when it comes to gold. He beckons, And surely you have seen, in the darkness of innermost rooms... how gold leaf... will pick up a distant glimmer... (22). Even though the general theme, the loss of love, is the same, many features such as tone, imagery, language and rhyme scheme differ from each other. Hardy emphasises more on his feelings towards his break up. He doesn t actually mention how he feels, but instead, the imagery he uses and the way he describes his ex girlfriend shows that he feels broken and angry. The line the smile on your mouth was the deadest thing is a very forceful line and implies that he is annoyed and not lamenting. On the other hand, Jennings is angry because the environment she was in didn t share her devastation and loneliness. She called the birds thoughtless , which shows she was angry with them and it also gives the impression that she feels the birds were supposed to feel her pain with her, but instead, was oblivious to her misery. The line, which suggests that she wants to feel happy, is singing an ecstasy I could not share . The two poets also use different imageries to convey their feelings. The poems are set in two totally different backgrounds. Neutral Tones was set in a lifeless place but Absence was set in a place that was merry. Hardy uses dead images in his poem such as a winter day , which symbolises coldness and bitterness, sun was white chidden of God to symbolise gloom and melancholy, starving sod and many more. All these images that Hardy use, emphasise the fact that they have broken up and how he feels angry yet heart broken at the same time. These dead images are very appropriate to this poem because they show that even nature could sense the loss of passion and the death of a relationship. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Psychological Disorders A psychological disorder is defined as a behavior that exhibits a collection of symptoms that cause stress and/or disability to an individual. These disorders can range from alcohol and substance abuse to Alzhiemer s and schizophrenia. Studies show that about 46% of the United States population suffers from a mental disorder some time in their life. There are many forms of treatment available, as the effects of these disorders cause distress and suffering not only to the individual, but for those around them too. The two main forms of treatment are biomedical therapy and verbal therapy. Biomedical therapies are medicinal drugs administered to a patient by a psychiatrist. Verbal therapies are talk sessions that a patient has with a psychologist. The prescription of drugs is the most common type of treatment in resolving psychological disorders. Based on a study done by the National Center for Health Statistics, the usage of psychiatric drugs, more specifically antidepressant drugs, went up 400% in the span of just twenty years. This may be because medications are seen as an answer to people s prayers. People think that they re fast and they ll cure anything and everything, making people feel normal again.
