Freedom Of Religion In The British Colonies
The British Colonists traveled over into the New World for society to work out in their own favor.
However, this was not the case for these colonists; they carelessly came into the New World with the
intent of having their own freedom of religion, being culturally intertwined with the natives already,
and for their own overall independence economically . The British did not make a smooth
transformation into this New World when they first arrived over seas, they brought chaos not only to
the Natives but also the development of their colonies and themselves.
A plan for some of the colonists moving to the New World was freedom of religion, such as the
quakers (located in Pennsylvania) and pilgrims believed in the freedom of living off of your own
specific religion. The puritans on the other hand, settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1629 ,
identified themselves as God s chosen pure angels because of their belief that they were born saved
into the world. They would also turn a blind eye to other denominations and focused on their church to
be an Angelic Catholic Church specifically. Which of course if you know anything about their home
back in Europe. That is their main denomination over in Britain and they do required everyone to
believe in. The puritans brought over their beliefs from England not trying to make it into their own.
For example in England they created various religious laws, that were put into place over from
England but now the laws transferred into

it makes us go to a location much quicker. The automotive field has been around since the 1800s, and
with that there is plenty of things that need to be learned and skills that are needed, but many aspects
that need to be learned as automobiles get upgraded. First of all, the first gasoline automobiles were

Use Of Pity In Virginia Woolf s Death Of The Moth
Analytical writing #2 In Virginia Woolf s The Death of the Moth, the word choice and tone she uses is
closely related to the inevitability of death that trails all life. One term that Woolf emphasizes on in
this essay is the word pity. Woolf describes the feeling of pity towards the moth while viewing the
moth s movements. The word pity means the feeling of sorrow and compassion caused by the
suffering and misfortunes of others. The same way in that one may feel sorrow or compassion towards
another person, but in this case Woolf refers to the moth. Woolf establishes a tone that allows the
reader to feel pity for the moth. Pity comes from the simplicity of life just living its life and then faced
with complications and the struggle to

The Immediate Causes Of Starvation In African Americans
1. Mehta s purpose was to report how Indians ironically starved without a shortage of food, a scenario
that she compares to starvation in the United States at the end of her writing. She most directly
indicates this purpose in paragraph eight, where she states It must be hard to be hungry when food is
plentiful. and It must be hard to be hungry, even in the U.S.A. (522).
2. The immediate cause of the starvation was the black marketeers hoarding the food and only selling
it for very high prices. A street food vendor offered three options to its customers: A price to see the
food. A higher price to smell the food. [And, a] third price to eat the food. (Mehta 522).
3. The ultimate cause of the starvation was the villagers giving their entire

Grocery Store Observation Paper
In the time I spent at Panam International supermarket on Sunday, located in DC around the Columbia
Heights area, I observed many things that make this grocery store unique. As I approached this
supermarket, I noticed that there was not a parking lot, therefore, I could not see the type of cars that
the customers owned. I also noticed that right in front of the store, there were women selling mangoes
with hot sauce, Atól de Elote (a central American corn beverage) and Taquitos. When I walked in, the
first thing I noticed was the Bachata music playing in the background, which is a type of Latin music
genre coming from the Dominican Republic. I noticed that the majority of the products sold were from
Latin American countries and were also less

Lord Of The Flies Important Quotes
Significant Quotations (Border) Later, Michelle tries talking to me. She explains why nobody could
help me when it rained. We don t force the students to listen, Wren. We can t stop the rain. Or the sun,
or the wind. We can only help you prepare for it. If you re unwilling to listen to take advice, that s
your choice. (Van Draanen, 67) The quote is important because it shows how life and the world work.
It reminds me of how in the real world, no one is never truly prepared for what life throws at them.
Bad things happen, and the best we can do is prepare for when that scenario happens. All the extra
space did was give us room to drift apart. (Van Draanen, 132) This quote is important because when

times during the book. Cave drawings were shown during hikes, and toward the end, when Wren finds

hieroglyphics. Or, I guess, pictographs. On one of our day hikes last we, the jailers took us to a secret
place where Native Americans had drawn things on a cave wall. [...] The pictographs were faded,
barely even there, but John pointed them out, one by one. There was a circle, big X s, a bird, fire, a
man with wavy arms, and rain clouds. [...] He also explained that some wall art dated back to 7000 BC
and said that we were in the presence of America s earliest storytelling documents. He said that the
pictographs were painted by mixing natural minerals with plant and animal oils to make colored
paints, which were then put on the walls with fingers or brushes made out of animal hair or yucca
leaves. (Van Draanen) The silhouette of the Pacific Wren

Evolution Of Gangs And Gang Related Activity Essay
The Evolution of Gangs in the United States Throughout history, divisions and factions have been
made amongst people based on race, ethnicity, religion, territory, and several other personal factors. In
most cases, people prefer to be within a group of individuals who are similar to them, rather than feel
out of place. One of the easiest ways for people to remain attached to their own kind is for them to
form special groups and bonds within certain areas, which have since been labeled as gangs. When
gangs first originated they were meant to keep certain groups of people linked, because when
everyone is dispersed those groups do not have as big of impact on societal functions. However, since
then, gangs have changed drastically, in both their purpose and organization. Over the past five
centuries, the United States has experienced a dramatic increase in gangs and gang related activity due
to technological advances among other factors, and this increase is not expected to slow down in the
near future. Many different definitions for a gang exist, but according to DoSomething.org in their
article, 11 Facts About Gangs, a gang is defined as, A group of people who claim a territory and use it
to make money through illegal activities. However, this is a modern definition of gangs, and it does
not necessarily define gangs that existed in early history. Yet, some characteristics of gangs today are
similar to characteristics of past gangs. For example, members of a gang

Theme Of Mariam In A Thousand Splendid Suns
In Khaled Hosseini s novel A Thousand Splendid Suns he presents the different aspects of Mariams
childhood through the interactions she has with the people in her life. Her interactions with Nana show
the effects if being raised a harami, with Jalil show her isolation and her naive attitude, with Mullah
Faizullah her piety and with Jalil s wives the reality of her poverty and low social status. This collates
to portray a miserable childhood, with religion (and Mullah Faizullah) as her only source of comfort
and happiness. Hosseini presents Mariam s childhood as revolving around the fact she is an
illegitimate child, her mother Nana was a housekeeper for a rich, married bussiness man Jalil. In the
first chapter Nana refers to Mariam as a harami a title frequently brought up in the novel to show the
massie impact t has on her life and that Mariam can neve escape being a bastard. Although Mariam
doesn t fully understand what it means in this chapter, she realises that it was an ugly, loathsome thing
to be a harami, like an insect . Hosseini uses the similie like an insect to show how because of her
illegitimacy Mariam is worthless and an inconvinience to others. The adjectives ugly and loathsome
emphasise Mariam s upsetting childhood and her feelings of inadequecy and repulsiveness. In Afghan
society generally having children out of wedlock is seen as a disgrace and the illegitimate children are
often considered as lower class. Later in the novel Nana recalls how she was removed from Jalil s
household and how he built them the Kolba they live in, which Nana refers to as a rathole . Hosseini
uses the semantic field of animals rathole , insect and cockroach to convey to the reader how deprived
Mariam s childhood is as a result of her being a harami, she is viewed as vermin throughout her
childhood. This relationship with Nana, who resents Mariam culminates in Nana s suicide, which
marks the end of Mariam s childhood and naivety. After returning from sleeping outside Jalil s home
she witnesses The rope dropping fom a high branch. Nana dangling at the end of it . The verb dangling
could be being used by Hosseini as it creates a tone of carelessness possibly reflecting the careless
way Nana

Hildegard Of Bingen Essay
St. Hildegard of Bingen The story of St. Hildegard of Bingen was unique from the any of the other
saints. She started her life growing up with a holy woman as a mother who died when St. Hildegard
was 38, and right after became an abbess. She was the head of an abbey of nuns and lead them into the
arms of Jesus. She then started a daughter convent. St. Hildegard influenced the church through her
countless devotions to God through the talents of seeing visions, seeing the individual love that God
had for each of his creation and because of this, she had amazing stories to tell. St. Hildegard proved
that every person is a child of God, and that God loves us with equal love, and that he will always
forgive us in the end. Her feast day is December 17. She was born on September 16, 1098 with sickly

Hildegard influenced the Church in many ways. She spread the word of God and preached what God
had wanted her too. She is someone who can be looked up upon, and known for her amazing work as
a songwriter, book writer, and preacher. The visions she had received from God were truly a miracle,
and the fact that she shared her life with all of us made it even more heroic. She stood proud and tall
for her faith, and did not care who did not believe her. St. Hildegard converted many people into the
Christian faith by announcing the love that God has for each of his children, and he says that each of
us is a living spark . People come into his kingdom to feel warm and welcome with others arms spread
wide. Her life began hard, being sickly as a baby, losing her mother and father, but somewhere in the
middle God found her. Little did she know she was given a special gift from above. She not only had
the visions but was brave enough to tell the world about them. She deserved to be announced a Saint,

The Australian department store sector has undergone significant change over the past decade. The
discount department store is increasingly competitive. Financial crisis has resulted in higher
unemployment rate and lower consumer sentiment, effecting retailing sales. However, these negative
events have been partially offset by the Federal Government s economic stimulus package and
reduction of official interest rates. In non food industry of Australia, there are restrictive property and

Based on the uniqueness perceived by the customer and expansive opportunity inferred from the
SWOT analysis (see Appendix B), Myer has employed a differentiation strategy which seeks to satisfy
all customers groups in the market with a full line of non food products. From standing by this
strategy, Myer carries more than 60,000 product lines and approximately 2400 domestic and
international brands across its 11 core product categories including women s swear, menswear, youth
fashion, children s wear, intimate apparel; beauty, fragrance and so on. In addition, Myer has
established a special brand hierarchy which covers a broad range from entry level to luxury price
points, with a focus on modern and fashionable products. Hence, Myer believes its width of products
and brands at a range of price points differentiate the company from other special department retail
stores, and the depth of the product knowledge is a key competitive advantage over the discount
department stores.
Changes
During last few years, the premium department stores suffered from low market demand due to the
impact of the Global Financial Crisis. As a result of this, since 2006, Myer has spent $400 million to
make business turnaround and rebuild cost structure.
The first important change is the design of Myer One loyalty program with free registration. It focuses
on customers needs and preferences thereby helping the company target these specified needs. As can

Essay on How Heros and Villains Have Envolved Since...
Everyone has a different perspective today about heroes and villains than what they thought back in
the ancient times. During the ancient times, the Greek concept of a hero was different from our own
cultures. As the years passed, the overall concept of what a hero changed dramatically then what they
thought years ago. A hero is a literary figure, of course, but here, too, we need caution so that we don t
misapply our own cultural ideas and standards to the ancient Greek hero.
You may ask, what is a hero? How can you describe a villain? But everyone will have a different
answer to these questions. We all have different points of views on what a hero or a villain can be.

Archilles tells Odysseus (Iliad 9.410 416): My mother Thetis tells me that there are two ways in which
I may meet my end. If I stay here and fight, I shall lose my safe homecoming but I will have a glory
that is unwilling: whereas if I go home my glory will die, but it will be a long time before the outcome
of death shall take me. The songs that were sung for heroes of ancient Greece and all the honors that

were ongoing and never ending. These festivals are preformed on seasonally basic and anyone who
participates in this worship believes that it will continue forever, and the hero to be immortalized, to
live forever. What do people define the word hero today as? Today a hero means someone who

Anger In The Manciple s Tale By Geoffrey Chaucer
History has a way of repeating itself. Mistakes made by earlier civilizations are re made in modern
day. It is true that people learn from their mistakes, but it is what they are ignorant of that gets
repeated. If people knew something was morally wrong, they would avoid doing it. If they were raised
to believe it was right, they would still do it, thinking they are doing right. Not only bad things have a
reincarnation in the future, but good things as well. Even a manner of which a society of the past acts
can be mirrored in the modern world. Authors have studied these occurrences and applied them in
their works. One such author is Geoffrey Chaucer who, in his work, The Canterbury Tales, has

of all courtesy,/Her heart a chamber of true holiness,/ Her hand a ministration of largess (Chaucer, The
Man of Law s Tale , line 166 168). She is the model of a virtuous being. She has absolute trust in God,
and she teaches other to do the same. She practices being loyal to the law as well as her faith. She is
exemplified as a materially poor person but spiritually rich. She can resist temptation because she
looks forward to a better life in Heaven. Through hard times and good times, she remains always
faithful to God, and God always protects her. She can most accurately be related to a modern day
monk. They have no money, for they have taken a vow of poverty, but they remain spiritually rich.
Being spiritually rich means they leave behind family, possessions, and worldly position, and even the
outer marks of personal identity, symbolized by hair, beard, and wardrobe (Bhikkhu Bodhi). They
trust in God, and are strong followers of their faith, like Constance. Since The monastic lifestyle
places the monk in dependence on the generosity and kindness of others , when there is no one around
to provide the monk with generosity, their only option is to trust in God. They still follow the official

Analysis Of Mlk Letter To Martin Luther King
Today in the United States, we are told that we are one of the best when it comes to having freedom;
of course that was not always the case. As a nation, we have come a long way; but unfortunately we
still are not all equal. As for 53 years ago, Marin Luther King Jr. was the man trying his best to pave
the way for having equal freedoms for everyone, especially blacks. With the letter that MLK wrote, it
ended up being more than a letter, but a piece of literature that was eventually published in his book.
He is excellent when it comes to his words, he was able to speak his mind and portray his words
emotionally. His thoughts were well thought out and written passionately, especially since they were
written in a jail cell. This letter started a pivotal movement in the civil rights era, and is something
people will always be talking about for years to come. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is what started his ideas for making a movement. He was tired of waiting for the government to
do something about the unjust freedom that blacks have been getting. With this letter to the clergy
men, he hopes to insert emotion into the people to do what is right and to grant people with their God
given rights. I have never experienced oppression or seen a severe incident in person but I cannot
image what King and his family had to go through before and after him being arrested. I also could
not image what our world would took like today if this letter had never been written. If not, our whole
country could be oppressed and would still be running directly by the rich white communities. Obama
might not have ever become president because he would have still been in the minority where blacks
could not be a part of the government, let alone be able to

Characterism In Look Back In Anger By John Osborne
INTRODUCTION OF LOOK BACK IN ANGER The play Look Back in Anger (1956) is written by
John Osborne. The play is actually a love triangle involving an educated young man of working class
origin Jimmy Porter, his upper middle class wife Alison, and her haughty best friend Helena Charles.
Cliff, who is a true friend to both Jimmy and Alison, and attempts to keep the peace. The play was a
huge success on the stage, and initiated the term angry young men to describe Osborne and those of
his generation who employed this harshness of realism in the theatre. Look Back in Anger is

Osborne wrote the play to express what it felt like to live in England during the 1950s. In the earlier
times, very less attention was given to literature that reflected the treatment and living circumstances
experienced by the lower class people. John Osborne was one of the leading literary figures of the
Angry Young Men movement . As the Angry Young Men movement began to popularize these themes,
the acceptance of related issues became more and more widespread. Osborne depicted these issues
within his play through the eyes of his protagonist, Jimmy. Throughout the play, Jimmy was seeing the
wrong people go hungry, the wrong people be loved, the wrong people dying . Post world war, the
quality of life in England for lower class citizens was extremely poor; Osborne used this theme to
demonstrate how the state of Britain was guilty of neglect towards those that needed assistance the
most. In the play there are comparisons of educated people with savages, it also highlights the major
difference between classes. Alison remarks on this issue while she, Jimmy and cliff are sharing an
apartment, stating how she felt she had been placed into a jungle . Jimmy was represented as an
embodiment of the young, rebellious post war generation that questioned the state and its actions.
Look Back in Anger provided some of its audience with the hope that Osborne s work would bring
revolution in the British theatre and enable it to act as a

Cotton Mathers was born in 1663, into a family that were New England Puritan ministers, as Rev.
John Cotton and Rev. Richard Mather. Cotton was determined to reach fame, as he looked up to his
father Rev. Increase Mather, who was a well appreciated political leader, and minister of the South
Church in Boston. Cotton made outstanding grades on his Greek and Latin entrance exams at the age
of twelve, and began college at Harvard. He received his M.A. at the age of eighteen, and felt that he

Scholars also believed that Mathers dramatic description of the devil s activity on the Goodwin s
young children might have caused the first act of witchcraft among the young girls in the Salem
Village. Mather was not involved in the trials, but he wrote a letter to John Richards, one of the
magistrates in the trials, persuading caution in the use of spectral evidence. Mather also wrote Return
of the Several Ministers , a report sent to the judges of the Salem court. It was a carefully worded
document that persuaded caution in the use of spectral evidence , suggesting that the devil could
change his shape, or denounce the use of spectral evidence in the trials, though he was warning the
judges, they saw it as him saying it was okay to move forward and they approved the trials to do so.
Eyewitnesses have thoughts that Mather was more involved in the trials. Mather, is preyed upon in
history, because of the information in Robert Calef s book, More Wonders of the Invisible world of his
actions while at the hanging of George Burroughs, a former Salem minister. Calef had said that
Burroughs perfectly recited the Lord s Prayer, while on the wooden structure, being fitted for his

Montana 1948 by Larry Watson Essay
In Montana 1948, written by Larry Watson, the events that took place irrevocably changed David
Hayden s life in several ways, both good and bad. The novel Montana 1948, is written from the point
of view of
David, the son of the Mercer County s sheriff, Wesley Hayden and features many events which are
indelible from his memory.
The death of Little Marie Soldier, David s housekeeper, was the first event, which would ultimately
change David s life. After her death,
David experiences great discomfort in his own home, as he believed that there was death in the house
and that every door seemed to require a bit more effort to open and close. There always seemed to be a

This eventually changed David so that he no longer felt that he didn t fit his ideal of what he should
be.
David s knowledge of his Uncle Frank s crimes, especially the murder of Little Marie Soldier, also
permanently changed his life, as after that he could no loner think about Frank in the same way.
Originally,
David expressed great admiration for his uncle, the war hero, saying that compared to his father, who
was impressive, was everything that his father was and more. Conversely, after the revelation of Frank
s crimes, David could no longer continue thinking of Uncle Frank the way he always had, saying that
the charming, affable Uncle Frank was gone for good.
While this change was dramatic, the greatest change that irretrievably changed David s life was the
death of his once beloved Uncle Frank.
The effect of his death affected the entire Hayden family, producing a division between David, his
mother Gail and his father Wesley, and his
Grandparents Enid and Julian and his Aunt Gloria. This division affected David to such a great extent
that he cried as he would never see his horse, Nutty, again . The division in his family is evident when,
at Frank s funeral, each faction stood on opposite sides of the grave and not one of them would dream
of leaping across it. This remark made by David shows that there was a clear dissection between
himself and his parents, and his

The Other Wes Moore s Life Problems
The situations that both Wes Moore s experience throughout the story The Other Wes Moore are real
life problems that people face each and every day. But what is being done to change this? Every day
people fall victim to things such as racism, assimilation, political and economic power, and tokenism.
Yet, there are ways to help people who are experiencing problems such as these. The only thing that
needs to be done is to have enough people stand up for these problems. Whether the solutions to these
problems are macro, or micro, there needs to be some sort of effort to help the people who experience
these sorts of oppressions. One major issue that the other Wes Moore s mother experiences is not
being able to get an education due to a lack of funding. Mary had become pregnant at the age of 16
and was unable to continue her education. While she was just barely providing for her family through
side jobs the paid minimum wage, she was also trying to receive an education by attending John
Hopkins University. She was able to do this through a program of Pell Grants. She was only able to
get 16 credits done when government decided to quit funding the Pell Grants. Mary, along with many
others trying to receive a college education, was unable to finish her education. Due to the cut in
funding Mary could no longer afford it. Without being able to receive a college education, Mary
would continue to live in poverty because without an education she would not be able to get a good
job.

To Kill A Mockingbird Setting Analysis
I think there s just one kind of folks. Folks (Lee 304). This concept that Scout brings up goes against
what others Maycomb believe in as Maycomb County from To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee has
lots of prejudice. Two reasons why the setting is very significant are, Maycomb County is a small
town the significance of that is that everyone knows each other and often have the same views as each
other this in turn causes prejudice. Also, Maycomb community finds their history to be very important
this changes how people act which shows how the setting could have major effects. In Harper Lee s To
Kill a Mockingbird, setting is very significant. Harper Lee uses the setting of Maycomb to bring forth
the idea that everyone knows everyone else because, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Maycomb the actions of your relatives in the past affects your future if no one likes your relatives
in the past they will not like you to. This is why setting can be so significant to the novel. Even
children find it shameful to not understand their family history as it is a source of pride for the people
of Maycomb. Scout says, Being Southerners, it was a source of shame to some members of the family
that we had no recorded ancestors on either side of the Battle of Hastings (3). To Kill a Mockingbird
takes place around 1935 approximately 870 years earlier is when the Battle of Hastings took place.
This would seem absurd to other people since this event took place hundreds of years ago. However,
since the setting is Maycomb which is in the south this is very important to them. This is concept is
due only to the setting which shows just how important it is to the novel. This next evidence will
further prove that people from Maycomb feel like history is crucial to their lives. Scout says, It was a
sad thing that my father had neglected to tell me about the Finch family or install any pride into his
children (176). This furthers the knowledge that everyone in Maycomb even children believe it is
necessary to learn about their heritage and about family history. In Maycomb people find history so
important that they make plays about it. Mrs. Merriweather, Chanted mournfully about Maycomb

So to have higher data transfer rate at lower power consumption we move onto Gi Fi technology.
➢ The 802.11b and 802.11g flavours of Wi Fi use the 2.4 GHz spectrum, which is crowded with other
devices such as Bluetooth, microwave ovens, cordless phones, or video sender devices, among many
others. This may cause degradation in performance. Other devices which use microwave frequencies
such as certain types of cell phones can also cause degradation in performance.
➢ Power consumption is fairly high compared to other standards, making battery life and heat a
concern.
➢ Not always configured properly by user. Commonly uses WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)

slowly providing support for the superior WPA (Wi Fi Protected Access) protocol, though many

How Does Thomas Paine Use Pathos In The Crisis No 1
What would you do to be free? During the Age of Reason so many people relied on their brains for
logic and reason, and they never let their emotions factor in. They struggled with the ideas of war and
independence because they did not realize what they were fighting for. Most of the militia men were
involved in this only for the money and they never truly saw the benefit of freedom until Thomas
Paine paved the way. Thomas Paine uses pathos in his writing of The Crisis No.1 to be personal with
the colonists and help impact the decisions they make for the future. It was important for Thomas
Paine to use pathos to persuade the audience because they needed to see a connection between their
lives and the war. Thomas Paine talks about how the future of their children is so valuable and they
need to fight right now for the happiness they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not a man lives on the continent but fully believes that a separation must some time or other finally

persuade them to set in stone the better future. Who they are and where they live in America does not

Igor Sikorsky s Impact On Aviation
William Timken
ASEN 3046
Midterm Paper
Igor Sikorsky
Igor Sikorsky is an incredibly important person in the world of aviation. Known for having three
careers related to aviation he made important contributions to aviation in each. He developed the
world s first four engine airplane in Russia, after moving to the United States he became known for his
Flying Clippers , and then proceeded to create the world s first successful practical helicopter in 1939.
His latter two careers, the flying Clippers and the helicopter, have had the largest effect on aviation
and the world at large and earns Sikorsky a place in aviation legend. Sikorsky was born in what is now

Aircraft have not always been as accepted as they are currently in the public eye, and Sikorsky helped
shift public opinion with his innovative designs. Without Sikorsky s Clippers, the shift in public
opinion would still have happened, but it may have taken longer and the aircraft of today would
probably look different and likely for the worse. Sikorsky helped associate glamour with air travel,
and while this has for the most part faded away with garden variety air travel, it still helped the world
push the envelope a bit further in terms of air travel. Sikorsky Helicopters have had a wide variety of
important impacts but have specifically played an integral role in emergency situations ranging from
search and rescue to fire fighting. Sikorsky cited the fact that helicopters had saved tens of thousands
of lives as rescue aircraft as one of his greatest satisfactions continuing to say that pilots of these
helicopters had contributed one of the most glorious pages in the history of human flight Igor Sikorsky

been used to great effect in a variety of rescue and emergency operations. While many other

produced in large part after Sikorsky helped show the efficacy of such aircraft. Sikorsky dreamed of a

Reliability Of Wikipedia Essay
The reliability of Wikipedia (predominantly of the English language edition) has been frequently
questioned and often assessed. The reliability has been tested statistically, through comparative
review, analysis of the historical patterns, and strengths and weaknesses inherent in the editing process
unique to Wikipedia.[1] Incidents of conflicted editing, and the use of Wikipedia for revenge editing
(inserting false, defamatory or biased statements into biographies) have attracted publicity.[2][3] A
study in the journal Nature said that in 2005, Wikipedia s scientific articles came close to the level of
accuracy in Encyclopædia Britannica and had a similar rate of serious errors .[4] Encyclopædia
Britannica disputed the Nature study,[5] and Nature replied with a formal response and point by point
rebuttal of Britannica s main objections.[6] Between 2008 and 2012, Wikipedia articles on medical
and scientific fields such as pathology,[7] toxicology,[8] oncology,[9] pharmaceuticals,[10][11] and
psychiatry[12] were compared to professional and peer reviewed sources and it was found that
Wikipedia s depth and coverage were of a high standard. Concerns regarding readability were raised
in a study published by the American Society of Clinical Oncology[13] and a study published in ...

Essay on Keep my Camera Rolling in Dubai
Riding on the roads of Dubai is essentially a fieldtrip in itself. There is so much to see form the drop
dead architecture to the metro; from the vigorously kept grass to the natural desert, and of course the
tantalizing advertisements. Whether it s a new product or a new city you ll see it... on cardboard. Oh,
did I mention the expensive line up of luxury cars that roam around too? The highway is surrounded
by high rises and each one has its own unique architecture. Being a rather futuristic/touristy city all the
buildings seem to have adapted a code. Rule number one would probably be: One must create a
unique and eye catching exterior. Rule number two: One must decorate said exterior with astounding
array of lights when sun sets. Rule ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can sometimes see the metro running alongside the highway on the elevated bridge. But, of
course, not the whole highway is surrounded by buildings. There are also many construction sites
which give a window into what Dubai used to be like: a lot of dust and sand. There are some parts
however, in which one might spot a bit of greenery. It s both artificial and real at the same time.
Artificial in the sense that it s not natural to the land and that it must be watered ten times a day to
maintain, and real in the sense that it s not a piece of plastic. Which is commendable because of the
arid climate here. As I m sure we all know, no road is complete without advertisements and Dubai is
no different. For example it s hard to miss the huge brick wall that runs a few miles long advertising
Dubai Sports City that is currently being built. Or the huge structure that s concealing the construction
site of Dubai Lagoon and at the same time is ostentatiously showing off what it s supposed to look
like. Then of course there are the regular advertisements of phones and such glowing at nighttime and
commanding your attention. But no analysis of the roads of Dubai is complete without the cars that
roam on the road. Mostly you ll see the average Toyota or Nissan. But also accompanying them are
Benzes, Lexi, and other luxury/exotic cars. The unusual thing is the quantity of these types of cars
which number unusually high. I suppose it fits with the image of ease,

Chinese Culture and How It Relates to Nursing Care
Understanding what culture is and how it affects the nursing practice is essential to ensure the best
possible and appropriate care is given. All cultures are different, and what may be acceptable for one
could be an insult to another. Potter and Perry (2017) define culture as being associated with norms,
values, and traditions passed down through generations (p. 102). However, this is not the only
definition since there are many different views on what culture entails. Because of the vastness of
cultural groups, it is important that nurses have cultural competence, a good grasp of the patient s

TCM practitioners look for underlying imbalances and disharmonies behind an illness to try and treat
the patient, instead of just the disease ( Traditional Chinese Medicine, 2017). Chinese practices, such
as acupuncture and herbal treatments, have become very popular in the Western world over the last
few decades. These practices are derived from the beliefs of Qi (pronounced chee) and Yin and Yang,
which involve energy and balance. Qi, or life energy, is a central belief in TCM and is believed to flow
through a number of channels, or meridians, throughout the body ( Traditional Chinese Medicine,
2017). The meridians are different organ systems in the body, and are categorized into yin organs and
yang organs. The terms yin and yang are derived from the Chinese belief that all things have two
aspects... and that ...a balance of yin and yang are necessary for health ( Traditional Chinese Medicine,
2017). Essentially, the relationship of yin and yang is like two sides of the same coin; opposite, but
they balance each other out. Yin is associated with qualities that are feminine, dark, passive, and
usually symbolized by earth or water, while yang is associated with qualities that are masculine, light,
active, and usually symbolized by air or fire ( Traditional Chinese Medicine, 2017). These beliefs are
what drive TCM and must be understood

WHY DOES PLATO COMPARE ORDINARY HUMAN EXISTENCE TO THAT OF CHAINED

this world like prisoners in a cave. His cave theory still applies today in the sense that the people are

instead they wish to live in the comfort zone inside the cave. THE ALLEGORY OF THE CAVE:

shadows inside the cave are illusion . Buddha s first expression of enlightment was all is illusion .All
Buddhist practices aimed at disabusing a person of their illusions. Presently Buddhism teaches to
pierce through the two veils of illusion, which are conflicting emotions and false beliefs about reality.
Everything is illusion in this world. According to Advaita school of Vedanta, Brahman is the only

called Maya. Maya is the illusionary and creative aspect of Brahman. Advaita accepts Plato s view on
reality. Everything inside the cave is shadows and are false realities. These are temporary. Likewise
everything in this world is illusion and is temporary. According to Buddhism, reflection of yourself is
enlightment. Reflection means finding answers for Who am I? Why am I here? Where do I go after
death? What will I be? But Plato s view is that knowing reality is enlightment. Reality means form of
good. Mahayana Sutra says; The truth was never preached by the Buddha, seeing that

Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare s Merchant of Venice is a story about man seeking justice for the forfeiture of his
bond. Shylock the Jew created a bond loaning three thousand ducats to his rival Antonio. In the event
that the loan could not be paid back, Shylock was entitled to a pound of flesh from the breast of
Antonio. Antonio s invested the money in his merchant ships hoping to gain profit. Unfortunately he
loses his ships at sea, losing everything Shylock had loaned him. Shylock happily takes Antonio to
court in hopes of receiving that pound of flesh as a result of the forfeiture of his bond. However due to
manipulation of the court by an illegitimate lawyer, Shylock is ruled as the guilty party of the case.

The impartial Duke once again tries to bend the law by persuading Shylock to take Bassanio s offer of
six thousand ducats to compensate for the three thousand Antonio owes him. Shylock counters with a
key point arguing that the Duke and other higher position authorities own slaves and no one could not
tell them how to treat them because they own them: You have among you many a purchased
slave...you use in abject and in slavish parts, Because you bought them. Shall I say to you, Let them be
free! ...You will answer The Slaves are ours . (4.1 90 9) According to the laws of Venice, which all
should abide by, Shylock owns that flesh and no person, not even the judge, has the right to tell him
what to do with it. Once again the court is showing bias towards Shylock, further displaying the
corruption of this court. The final point in conveying the aggressiveness of this court to go against
Shylock occurs during the closing argument from Portia, disguised as a lawyer named Balthazar.
Portia argues that Shylock was in fact legally justified in obtaining a pound of Antonio s flesh.
However she then points out that if he sheds one drop of blood when he cuts it, Venice will then have
the right to confiscate his lands and property. Portia shows her conflict of interest against Shylock by
then saying Thou shalt have justice more than thou desir st. (4 1.315) This quote means

Reward Power And Reward Powers
1.3 If I am the manager working in restaurant, and I will use some rewards to my employees such as
reward power. Reward power is like ability of one person like me, a manager in this restaurant to
influence my employees. Like positive appraisals, salary increments and promotions. If someone in an
organization, people who in charge this organization wield reward powers can influence the actions of
other employees. And as a manager in Peace restaurant, I should use my reward power well, then I can
motivate employees greatly. But if I use it through favoritism, then, reward powers can make
employees negative greatly when they are working. If I am a manager who has the reward powers, I
will ask them about their hopes in rewards and reward them fairly, then make sure to use rewards only
after they have been earned. (2) In my opinions, reward power arises from the ability of a person to
influence the distribution of rewards in an organization. Then, if manager use the reward power, then
he or she should use it fairly to the employees. Rewarding employees when they are hardworking and
also can ask the hopes of wonder, then it can motivate employees greatly. Punishing employees when
they are lazy on working and encourage these employees to get better on their job. A manager holds in

George And Lennie Relationship Analysis
In the novella Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck, the relationship between Lennie Small and
George Milton is complex. Lennie and George are two companions who look for work and brave the
hardships of the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression together. Although Lennie and George are both
grown men, their relationship resembles more of a child and a single parent, or a boy and his dog.
Lennie is portrayed as animalistic and childish through his behavior and Steinbeck s comparisons.
This reveals the crucial power dynamic in George and Lennie s relationship. In the beginning of the
novella, Lennie is portrayed as innocent and dependent on George. When Lennie had a mouse and

Burns continues by saying that unpropitious events occur, even in the lives of the everyday man.
Burns implies that the mouse should consider himself lucky because it cannot think about the past; it
only focuses on the present and the future, while men dwell on the past. Lennie and the mouse have
similar characteristics; just like the mouse, Lennie cannot remember the past. In the novella, George
gets frustrated with Lennie for always forgetting things. When Lennie could not remember why they
had left Weed and why they were going somewhere new, George says ...[s]o you forgot already (4). In
Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men, Lennie is a metaphor for the mouse, and George a metaphor for men.
George can look back on the past, which is why he carries the responsibility of Lennie. Lennie is again
given animalistic character traits. Steinbeck does this to create a dynamic in Lennie and George s
relationship, that of a man and animal. In which George is the responsible one who looks out for
Lennie. The parallels between Lennie and George s relationship and the relationship that their
workmate, Candy had with his dog reaffirm the power dynamic between George and Lennie. In the
novella, Candy must kill his dog because it is old and weak. Candy felt such extreme regret when it
came time to kill his dog, that instead of doing

Centripetal Acceleration Lab Report
Introduction: As objects move in a circular motion or change direction, they are accelerating, this form
of acceleration is known as centripetal acceleration (ac). The direction of the acceleration is always
towards the centre of the circle. Centripetal acceleration can be represented by the formula
ac=V2r=42rT2=42rf2. In these formulas, v is the velocity, r is the radius of the circle, T is the period,
and f is the frequency. Furthermore, velocity can be represented by the following equations
v=2rT=2rf. In order to calculate frequency, the free body diagram must be taken into consideration in
order to calculate the force of tension. In this lab, the force of tension and gravity are assumed to be
the only forces. Furthermore, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of this, the stopper will complete the necessary rotations in fewer seconds. Finally, in turn,
this allows the frequency to increase as the radius decreases, proving they are inversely proportional.
Finally, the frequency and the mass of the spinning object (rubber stopper) are inversely proportional
to one another specifically that as the mass increases, the frequency decreases. As the spinning mass s
weight increases, it would take more force to rotate it causing it to slow down. These larger time
intervals would drastically decrease the frequency as the growing mass would result in a lower
frequency.
Experimental Design: A hanging mass was connected to a string that passed through a hollow tube
that had a rubber stopper connected to the string on the other side of the tube. A person held the glass
tube and spun the string above their head so the rubber stopper would spin and raise the hanging mass

The Wolfpack Is A 2015 Documentary That Tells The Story Of...
The Wolfpack is a 2015 documentary that tells the story of the Angulo family, specifically the six
movie obsessed brothers, and their life in a tiny New York City apartment. The Angulo brothers, all
named by their Hare Krishna father for different iterations of the god Krishna, shared a six room
apartment with their parents and older sister, Visnu. Their tight knit relationship developed in part
from the isolation the family experienced during the boys childhood. During the film, they tell the
camera how their father had the only key to the apartment and controlled their excursions into the
outside world. Sometimes we got out once a year, says Mukunda Angulo, and one particular year we
never got out at all (The Wolfpack 2015). To compensate for this lack of interaction with the outside

Network Archutecture
3.1 Network Architecture :
Network architecture is the configuration of an interchanges system. It is a structure for the
determination of a system s physical parts and their practical association and setup, its operational
standards and systems, and information organizations utilized as a part of its operation. Network
Architecture gives the subtle element outline of a system. It is utilized to arrange all the system layers
regulated in sensible structure by portraying each one stage in subtle element. It is likewise dependent
upon the complete working meanings of the conventions. The structural engineering is emphasized in
a circulated processing environment and its unpredictability can t be comprehended without a
structure. Subsequently there is a need to create provisions or systems to design a diagram of a system.
The first use of the expression software architecture planning put it particularly in the arranging period
of a task. While these arrangements had connection to physical items, the term finished not. At the
point when a system of associated gadgets, for example, phones and PCs, was arranged out, the

Introduction
Markets differ in a variety of ways including the degree of concentration and competitiveness, a fact
which is reflected in the concept of market structure . Economists models link the structural
characteristics of a market to the behaviour of firms in that market and subsequently to their
performance. A key question therefore is how far a firm s strategic decisions are shaped by the
structure of the market in which it operates.
You are required to undertake a detailed examination of the changing nature of the long haul
transatlantic airline market. The market you are required to investigate comprises only the

He lambasted British Airways and Virgin for fleecing passengers for too long as he and his brother
Hugh unveiled a route from London to New York for just £129 each way.
With two hot meals, designated seating and premium upgrades, it aimed to change long haul air travel
and make Scotland a powerhouse in global aviation. A stock market flotation was mooted, valuing the
airline at up to £100m, while its summer flight schedule was spectacularly upgraded, offering 40%
more seats across the Atlantic.
Not since the days of Sir Freddie Laker s Skytrain in the late 1970s had the established transatlantic
carriers faced such a threat. Back then, despite huge support from the public and the Prime Minister, it
took five years and an aggressive price dropping exercise for the competition to drive Laker out. But
while British Airways, Pan Am, TWA and Lufthansa were said to have met to plot Laker s downfall,
with Zoom they didn t have to: a soaring fuel bill did it for them.
As with other transatlantic carries such as MaxJet, Eos and Silverjet, Zoom s problems lay primarily
with the price of oil, which last year added more than £27m to Zoom s fuel bill.
A combination of soaring oil prices, poor sales and a weak economy has precipitated the worst crisis

Why Is The Third Little Pig Admirable
The Three Little Pigs Essay
The third little pig is an admirable character because he works hard, he is brave, and because he is
willing to outwit his enemy, the wolf.He works hard by building his house, he is brave because he
stands up to the wolf, and he is intelligent because he is willing to outsmart the enemy. The first
reason why the third little pig is hard working is because he took the time and effort to build a brick
house. He first found the bricks which probably were hard to find. Then after he found them, he had to
transport them to the location where is the house was going to be.He then continued to lay the bricks
down one by one to make a well structured house to repel enemies. He is additionally hard working not
only because he built the house out of brick but because he put up four walls a roof and even a
chimney. For him to know the proper functions of a chimney is outstanding, but for him to actually ...

Just think about a small pig outsmarts a big wolf I mean what are the chances of that happening. But
still, the third little pig makes it a reality. This pig is smart enough not only to come up with an
immense plan to overall run circles around the wolf but to go through with it shows his determination
to outmaneuver the wolf. For example, when the wolf asks the pig to go to the marketplace to get some
vegetables the pig goes an hour earlier, again outsmarting the enemy. As well as at the end of the story
where the pig willing lets the wolf through the chimney only to put him in a big pot and have him for
dinner. This shows that the pig is intelligent enough to come up with a way to overall get revenge for
his brothers. That is all the reasons for why I think the third little pig in the Three Little Pigs is an
admirable character, by being hard working, brave and intelligent enough to outwit

Business Cycle Of Recession Essay
The business cycle of the GDP rising and falling all over again is surely how the economy behaves
and since today we have not been able to explain exactly why and how to stop it. Business cycles are
composed by 4 different periods; expansion, peak, contraction and trough. Every period of economic
growth and prosperity, is usually followed by a recession. The duration of each cycle varies sometimes
8 years or even 10 but the order is always the same. Recession are very harmful for the standards of
living and economists try at all cause to avoid them (Boyes Melvin, 2016). Recession is defined as a
period of about six months that economy declines significantly. According to Amadeo, there are 5
economic indicators that will drop when a recession take place; real GDP, ... Show more content on

Big businesses would try to lower their expenses by stop hiring or even cut the personal, which we
saw previously with unemployment. Furthermore, businesses would cut costs by stop buying new
equipment or eliminate advertisings which eventually would affect big and small companies involved
as well. And that is how the cycle begins. Other problem companies and industries face are that
because of the lousy economy recession carries, costumers might be delayed with their debts to the
company. Consequently, the company pays late their own debts which can result in reducing the
valuation of the corporation s debt and its ability to obtain financing. The companies that cannot pay
their loans may enter in reorganization or get out of business. On the other hand, small businesses get
yet worse than big businesses. Without big cash reserves and capital assets it makes it harder for these
businesses to survive the recession (Davis, 2016). In conclusion, that is how many businesses get in
bankrupt during the recessions. In the chart below is the data about the rate of bankruptcies in the

2.3 Dominant Strategy. Dominant Strategy Produces “A Higher
2.3 Dominant strategy
Dominant strategy produces a higher payoff than any other strategy the player can use for every
possible combination of its rivals strategies (Perloff). In other words, in game theory, strategic
dominance results in better strategies than any other competitors. This will be explained more detailed
later in this report.
2.4 Nash equilibrium The Nash Equilibrium is a concept of game theory where the optimal outcome
of a game is one where no player has an incentive to deviate from his chosen strategy after
considering an opponent s choice (Investopedia). The Nash equilibrium is said to exist if a player has
no incentive to independently change his course of action in the game. This is a point where both

For example, during the summer, more frequent travel increases the demand of gasoline. On the other
hand, the demand decreases in the winter. The higher the demand, the larger the price tags. Demand
differs by season.
Calculating the cost of gasoline
When a station receives a load of gasoline, an invoice is generated that list the price of gasoline by
grade. The price will be determined by the prevailing wholesale cost at the time of delivery, the
freight, and federal, state and local taxes applicable to the station s location (DeCostanza, P1). Labor
expense is also factored into the estimation of the cost of gasoline at gasoline stations as a baseline.
Determining competitive conditions
Gasoline prices vary at each gasoline station because gasoline marketing is very competitive. Retail
prices of competing stations are determined by a pressure of prices in immediate trading areas.
Gasoline sales are tools to increase sales traffic for other more profitable products like convenience
store items: Giveaway the gasoline to sell the coffee is a saying often heard in the convenience store
business (DeCostanza, P1). Similarly, because auto repair shops need to build their customer base for
repair, auto repair shops might sell gasoline cheaper than other gasoline stations nearby.
3.2 Gasoline prices
Game theory helps us understand the behavior of gasoline station owners in setting gasoline prices.
Table 3 is a simple application of game theory to gasoline pricing.

Second Language Acquisition ( Sla )
Second language acquisition (SLA) has long been a topic of interest for many researchers such as
linguists, psychologists, and educators. Through the study of SLA, researchers may better understand
the basic properties of languages, how languages are processed in the brain, and how to facilitate the
acquisition of a second language. A common topic of inquiry among SLA researchers is why some
people seem to learn new languages with ease while others do not. This question is especially
important to foreign language educators who want all of their students to succeed at becoming
proficient in a second language. In order to provide the proper support their students need, educators
must be aware of the many factors that influence SLA. In order to investigate why some language
learners appear to be more successful than others, researchers examine the differences between
individual learners. The current consensus among experts is that individual learners learn differently
depending on variables like learning opportunities, the motivation to learn, individual differences and
learning styles in second language acquisition (Bista, 2008, p. 2). Therefore an individual s success is
dependent on the combination of many factors. Educators may attempt to determine an individual s
chances at learning a language by measuring their language aptitude. While researchers thus far failed
to create a universal definition for language aptitude, they have identified some aspects of

Disability Essay
In today s society men have an attraction towards skinny women. The most gorgeous super models are
thin and when other girls look at them, they get jealous. Many girls see this, and view themselves as
being overweight and have a complex and a desire, which is to be skinny, this disease is called
Anorexia. Anorexia is a disease, which affects mostly women and sometimes men. Anorexia is when
you think you are fat, and you deprive yourself of food in order to be skinny. They see themselves as
being fat and want to strive to be better than the quot;norm quot;, and by that, being as skinny as
possible. The glamorous women are skinny and we see this everywhere in movies, fashion shows,
television, magazines etc...
Lennard Davis describes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, as we have seen, is in contrast to societies with the concept of an ideal, in which all people have
a non ideal status quot; (Davis, p29)
Davis is saying that there are many people who are considered normal and want to be better than that.
Anorexia deals with this because girls feel they have to be skinny in order to be beautiful.
Beautiful as in being prettier than quot;average quot; women are. They want to be the ideal but then
they stray away from it as they get into the extremes cases of anorexic they go toward the non ideal
situation.
Ideology plays a big part in this because with anorexia the girls strive to be skinny, and this is their
quot;ideal quot; situation. With anorexia they get to their ideal stage and still have a complex of
thinking they are fat. They go far beyond they ideal stage and then the disease takes them far beyond
their desired state and get into an acute situation. In my sister s situation it became so severe that she
had to put in a hospital and had to be fed intravenously. She weighed 97 pounds and was 5 10 quot; at
her worst.
Anorexia is also caused by a stigma. We ask why does a person become Anorexic? One way a person
may become anorexic is by them being alienated, or mentally abused due to their obesity.
Having a stigma hurts a lot and sometimes people must take extreme measures in order to fight the
stigma and get on with their normal life. As

Parental Loss At A Young Age
Introduction
Parental loss at a young age has been linked to heightened risk of psychological problems in
adulthood, especially depression and lower self confidence (Mack, 2001; Mireault Bond, 1992; Saler
Skolnick, 1992*) It has also been linked to several different health conditions including chronic pain,
hypertension, heart disease, and immune disorders (Luekin Lemery, 2004; McEwen Seeman, 2006).
The way a child grieves over a lost parent shapes the way that information is interpreted and stored in
the brain as well (Lupien, Ouellet Morin, Hupbach, Tu, Buss, Walker, et al., 2006; Vanitallie, 2002)
and it can influence whether or not life events are defined as stressful (Lupien et al., 2006). Studies
conducted concerning childhood bereavement suggest that early parental loss can lead to the
development of poorly regulated neuro emotional response systems (Brotman, Gouley, Klein,
Castellanos Pine, 2003) and the alteration of brain structures that help with memory and cognitive
functioning (Lupien et al., 2006; Vanitallie, 2002). Because of the impact of the loss, often times,
children need help to recover from the loss of their parent. There have been several studies conducted
on effective interventions and strategies when it comes to helping a child grieve and recover from the
loss of their loved one.
Stages of Grief and the Grieving Process
Grieving children commonly pass through five different stages of grief, although they do not follow a
particular pattern

My Best Friend Set Me Up With A Blind
One glance at my bathroom clock tells me exactly what I already guessed that I m late. I sigh and steal
another look in the mirror. My makeup is flawless it is something I pride myself on but my hair falls in
my face, refusing to be tamed. Accepting this fate, I dash into my bedroom. I comb through my closet
looking for the perfect dress; I had one in mind but can t seem to find it. After five minutes of fruitless
searching, I let out a groan of frustration and turn around to see it laid out nicely on my bed. Of
course. I slip it on quickly, but can t get the zipper more than half way up my back. I know it s not that
he dress is too small I simply can t reach. At this point, I m nearly ready to give up on going out all ...

As I do last minute checks, I dictate a sorry I m late text to my date. I watch it try to slowly send
through the awful reception of my building as I lock my door and make my way across the hall. I give
up on it actually reaching my date after a few painful minutes and slip my phone into my clutch. Then,
I knock on the door across the hall. It s only after a few moments do I remember that the darling old
woman moved out a month ago, and a new tenant just moved it. Crap, I think. As if tonight hadn t
already spelt disaster.
***
A knock on my door brings me back to reality. I set my book down and stand up to answer it.
However, an absentminded glance at my watch makes me panic. I was supposed to be downtown ten
minutes ago, and I still have to deal with whoever knocked before I can leave. On my way to the door,
I grab my favorite pair of shoes. I only have one on when I open it, and what I see almost makes me
drop the other one. A gorgeous young woman stands outside my apartment, dressed stylishly in a red,
black, and silver cocktail dress, a leather jacket, and stunning accessories. I stare at her for a second
too long before asking her how I may help her. I m sorry, but I have a rather awkward request. I nod at
her to continue, thinking that I d do just about anything this woman asked me to. I live across the hall,
and all my roommates are gone tonight. I

  • 2. Freedom Of Religion In The British Colonies The British Colonists traveled over into the New World for society to work out in their own favor. However, this was not the case for these colonists; they carelessly came into the New World with the intent of having their own freedom of religion, being culturally intertwined with the natives already, and for their own overall independence economically . The British did not make a smooth transformation into this New World when they first arrived over seas, they brought chaos not only to the Natives but also the development of their colonies and themselves. A plan for some of the colonists moving to the New World was freedom of religion, such as the quakers (located in Pennsylvania) and pilgrims believed in the freedom of living off of your own specific religion. The puritans on the other hand, settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1629 , identified themselves as God s chosen pure angels because of their belief that they were born saved into the world. They would also turn a blind eye to other denominations and focused on their church to be an Angelic Catholic Church specifically. Which of course if you know anything about their home back in Europe. That is their main denomination over in Britain and they do required everyone to believe in. The puritans brought over their beliefs from England not trying to make it into their own. For example in England they created various religious laws, that were put into place over from England but now the laws transferred into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Use Of Pity In Virginia Woolf s Death Of The Moth Analytical writing #2 In Virginia Woolf s The Death of the Moth, the word choice and tone she uses is closely related to the inevitability of death that trails all life. One term that Woolf emphasizes on in this essay is the word pity. Woolf describes the feeling of pity towards the moth while viewing the moth s movements. The word pity means the feeling of sorrow and compassion caused by the suffering and misfortunes of others. The same way in that one may feel sorrow or compassion towards another person, but in this case Woolf refers to the moth. Woolf establishes a tone that allows the reader to feel pity for the moth. Mehta s purpose was to report how Indians ironically starved without a shortage of food, a scenario that she compares to starvation in the United States at the end of her writing. She most directly indicates this purpose in paragraph eight, where she states It must be hard to be hungry when food is plentiful. and It must be hard to be hungry, even in the U.S.A. (522). 2. The immediate cause of the starvation was the black marketeers hoarding the food and only selling it for very high prices. A street food vendor offered three options to its customers: A price to see the food. A higher price to smell the food. [And, a] third price to eat the food. (Mehta 522). 3. We don t force the students to listen, Wren. We can t stop the rain. Or the sun, or the wind. We can only help you prepare for it. If you re unwilling to listen to take advice, that s your choice. (Van Draanen, 67) The quote is important because it shows how life and the world work. It reminds me of how in the real world, no one is never truly prepared for what life throws at them. Bad things happen, and the best we can do is prepare for when that scenario happens. All the extra space did was give us room to drift apart. • 8. Evolution Of Gangs And Gang Related Activity Essay The Evolution of Gangs in the United States Throughout history, divisions and factions have been made amongst people based on race, ethnicity, religion, territory, and several other personal factors. In most cases, people prefer to be within a group of individuals who are similar to them, rather than feel out of place. One of the easiest ways for people to remain attached to their own kind is for them to form special groups and bonds within certain areas, which have since been labeled as gangs. When gangs first originated they were meant to keep certain groups of people linked, because when everyone is dispersed those groups do not have as big of impact on societal functions. However, since then, gangs have changed drastically, in both their purpose and organization. Over the past five centuries, the United States has experienced a dramatic increase in gangs and gang related activity due to technological advances among other factors, and this increase is not expected to slow down in the near future. Many different definitions for a gang exist, but according to DoSomething.org in their article, 11 Facts About Gangs, a gang is defined as, A group of people who claim a territory and use it to make money through illegal activities. However, this is a modern definition of gangs, and it does not necessarily define gangs that existed in early history. • 9. Theme Of Mariam In A Thousand Splendid Suns In Khaled Hosseini s novel A Thousand Splendid Suns he presents the different aspects of Mariams childhood through the interactions she has with the people in her life. Her interactions with Nana show the effects if being raised a harami, with Jalil show her isolation and her naive attitude, with Mullah Faizullah her piety and with Jalil s wives the reality of her poverty and low social status. This collates to portray a miserable childhood, with religion (and Mullah Faizullah) as her only source of comfort and happiness. Hosseini presents Mariam s childhood as revolving around the fact she is an illegitimate child, her mother Nana was a housekeeper for a rich, married bussiness man Jalil. In the first chapter Nana refers to Mariam as a harami a title frequently brought up in the novel to show the massie impact t has on her life and that Mariam can neve escape being a bastard. Although Mariam doesn t fully understand what it means in this chapter, she realises that it was an ugly, loathsome thing to be a harami, like an insect . Hosseini uses the similie like an insect to show how because of her illegitimacy Mariam is worthless and an inconvinience to others. The adjectives ugly and loathsome emphasise Mariam s upsetting childhood and her feelings of inadequecy and repulsiveness. In Afghan society generally having children out of wedlock is seen as a disgrace and the illegitimate children are often considered as lower class. Later in the novel Nana recalls how she was removed from Jalil s household and how he built them the Kolba they live in, which Nana refers to as a rathole . Hosseini uses the semantic field of animals rathole , insect and cockroach to convey to the reader how deprived Mariam s childhood is as a result of her being a harami, she is viewed as vermin throughout her childhood. This relationship with Nana, who resents Mariam culminates in Nana s suicide, which marks the end of Mariam s childhood and naivety. After returning from sleeping outside Jalil s home she witnesses The rope dropping fom a high branch. Nana dangling at the end of it . It is true that people learn from their mistakes, but it is what they are ignorant of that gets repeated. If people knew something was morally wrong, they would avoid doing it. If they were raised to believe it was right, they would still do it, thinking they are doing right. Not only bad things have a reincarnation in the future, but good things as well. She is the model of a virtuous being. She has absolute trust in God, and she teaches other to do the same. She practices being loyal to the law as well as her faith. She is exemplified as a materially poor person but spiritually rich. She can resist temptation because she looks forward to a better life in Heaven. Through hard times and good times, she remains always faithful to God, and God always protects her. She can most accurately be related to a modern day monk. They have no money, for they have taken a vow of poverty, but they remain spiritually rich. Being spiritually rich means they leave behind family, possessions, and worldly position, and even the outer marks of personal identity, symbolized by hair, beard, and wardrobe (Bhikkhu Bodhi). They trust in God, and are strong followers of their faith, like Constance. As for 53 years ago, Marin Luther King Jr. was the man trying his best to pave the way for having equal freedoms for everyone, especially blacks. With the letter that MLK wrote, it ended up being more than a letter, but a piece of literature that was eventually published in his book. He is excellent when it comes to his words, he was able to speak his mind and portray his words emotionally. I have never experienced oppression or seen a severe incident in person but I cannot image what King and his family had to go through before and after him being arrested. Cliff, who is a true friend to both Jimmy and Alison, and attempts to keep the peace. Osborne wrote the play to express what it felt like to live in England during the 1950s. In the earlier times, very less attention was given to literature that reflected the treatment and living circumstances experienced by the lower class people. John Osborne was one of the leading literary figures of the Angry Young Men movement . As the Angry Young Men movement began to popularize these themes, the acceptance of related issues became more and more widespread. Osborne depicted these issues within his play through the eyes of his protagonist, Jimmy. Throughout the play, Jimmy was seeing the wrong people go hungry, the wrong people be loved, the wrong people dying . Post world war, the quality of life in England for lower class citizens was extremely poor; Osborne used this theme to demonstrate how the state of Britain was guilty of neglect towards those that needed assistance the most. In the play there are comparisons of educated people with savages, it also highlights the major difference between classes. Alison remarks on this issue while she, Jimmy and cliff are sharing an apartment, stating how she felt she had been placed into a jungle . Jimmy was represented as an embodiment of the young, rebellious post war generation that questioned the state and its actions. • 17. Montana 1948 by Larry Watson Essay In Montana 1948, written by Larry Watson, the events that took place irrevocably changed David Hayden s life in several ways, both good and bad. The novel Montana 1948, is written from the point of view of David, the son of the Mercer County s sheriff, Wesley Hayden and features many events which are indelible from his memory. The death of Little Marie Soldier, David s housekeeper, was the first event, which would ultimately change David s life. After her death, David experiences great discomfort in his own home, as he believed that there was death in the house and that every door seemed to require a bit more effort to open and close. This eventually changed David so that he no longer felt that he didn t fit his ideal of what he should be. David s knowledge of his Uncle Frank s crimes, especially the murder of Little Marie Soldier, also permanently changed his life, as after that he could no loner think about Frank in the same way. Originally, David expressed great admiration for his uncle, the war hero, saying that compared to his father, who was impressive, was everything that his father was and more. Conversely, after the revelation of Frank s crimes, David could no longer continue thinking of Uncle Frank the way he always had, saying that the charming, affable Uncle Frank was gone for good. While this change was dramatic, the greatest change that irretrievably changed David s life was the death of his once beloved Uncle Frank. The effect of his death affected the entire Hayden family, producing a division between David, his mother Gail and his father Wesley, and his Grandparents Enid and Julian and his Aunt Gloria. This division affected David to such a great extent that he cried as he would never see his horse, Nutty, again . The division in his family is evident when, at Frank s funeral, each faction stood on opposite sides of the grave and not one of them would dream of leaping across it. This remark made by David shows that there was a clear dissection between himself and his parents, and his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But what is being done to change this? Every day people fall victim to things such as racism, assimilation, political and economic power, and tokenism. Yet, there are ways to help people who are experiencing problems such as these. The only thing that needs to be done is to have enough people stand up for these problems. Whether the solutions to these problems are macro, or micro, there needs to be some sort of effort to help the people who experience these sorts of oppressions. One major issue that the other Wes Moore s mother experiences is not being able to get an education due to a lack of funding. Mary had become pregnant at the age of 16 and was unable to continue her education. • 37. Centripetal Acceleration Lab Report Introduction: As objects move in a circular motion or change direction, they are accelerating, this form of acceleration is known as centripetal acceleration (ac). The direction of the acceleration is always towards the centre of the circle. Centripetal acceleration can be represented by the formula ac=V2r=42rT2=42rf2. In these formulas, v is the velocity, r is the radius of the circle, T is the period, and f is the frequency. Furthermore, velocity can be represented by the following equations v=2rT=2rf. In order to calculate frequency, the free body diagram must be taken into consideration in order to calculate the force of tension. In this lab, the force of tension and gravity are assumed to be the only forces. Furthermore, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result of this, the stopper will complete the necessary rotations in fewer seconds. Finally, in turn, this allows the frequency to increase as the radius decreases, proving they are inversely proportional. Finally, the frequency and the mass of the spinning object (rubber stopper) are inversely proportional to one another specifically that as the mass increases, the frequency decreases. As the spinning mass s weight increases, it would take more force to rotate it causing it to slow down. These larger time intervals would drastically decrease the frequency as the growing mass would result in a lower frequency. Experimental Design: A hanging mass was connected to a string that passed through a hollow tube that had a rubber stopper connected to the string on the other side of the tube. A person held the glass tube and spun the string above their head so the rubber stopper would spin and raise the hanging mass at a constant radius from the hollow tube. Independent Variables: Tension from the hanging mass, the radius, and the mass of the rubber stopper. Dependent Variables: Frequency of the rotations Controlled Variables: Gravity, and the apparatus Procedure: Please refer to page 152 to 153 of Hirsch, Alan J. Nelson Physics 12. • 38. The Wolfpack Is A 2015 Documentary That Tells The Story Of... The Wolfpack is a 2015 documentary that tells the story of the Angulo family, specifically the six movie obsessed brothers, and their life in a tiny New York City apartment. The Angulo brothers, all named by their Hare Krishna father for different iterations of the god Krishna, shared a six room apartment with their parents and older sister, Visnu. Their tight knit relationship developed in part from the isolation the family experienced during the boys childhood. During the film, they tell the camera how their father had the only key to the apartment and controlled their excursions into the outside world. Sometimes we got out once a year, says Mukunda Angulo, and one particular year we never got out at all (The Wolfpack 2015). To compensate for this lack of interaction with the outside world, the brothers turned to movies, watching thousands of films during the years they stayed inside the apartment. Their story is unique and compelling. These brothers, despite or perhaps because of the conditions they were raised in, developed a strength and resiliency that allows them to be surprisingly well adjusted to modern American life. They now have Facebook pages and Instagram accounts, friends, love interests, and some have picked up Americanized names (Krisna is now Glenn, and Jagadisa goes by Eddie). The Wolfpack offers viewers a glimpse into their world, as filmmaker Crystal Moselle was given unprecedented access to their apartment and their lives. Moselle has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Strategic Management Assignment Faculty of Business and Law Session: 2008/9 MBA: Strategic Management 1 Assignment Introduction Markets differ in a variety of ways including the degree of concentration and competitiveness, a fact which is reflected in the concept of market structure . Economists models link the structural characteristics of a market to the behaviour of firms in that market and subsequently to their performance. A key question therefore is how far a firm s strategic decisions are shaped by the structure of the market in which it operates. He lambasted British Airways and Virgin for fleecing passengers for too long as he and his brother Hugh unveiled a route from London to New York for just £129 each way. With two hot meals, designated seating and premium upgrades, it aimed to change long haul air travel and make Scotland a powerhouse in global aviation. A stock market flotation was mooted, valuing the airline at up to £100m, while its summer flight schedule was spectacularly upgraded, offering 40% more seats across the Atlantic. Not since the days of Sir Freddie Laker s Skytrain in the late 1970s had the established transatlantic carriers faced such a threat. Back then, despite huge support from the public and the Prime Minister, it took five years and an aggressive price dropping exercise for the competition to drive Laker out. But while British Airways, Pan Am, TWA and Lufthansa were said to have met to plot Laker s downfall, with Zoom they didn t have to: a soaring fuel bill did it for them. As with other transatlantic carries such as MaxJet, Eos and Silverjet, Zoom s problems lay primarily with the price of oil, which last year added more than £27m to Zoom s fuel bill. A combination of soaring oil prices, poor sales and a weak economy has precipitated the worst crisis

Business Cycle Of Recession Essay The business cycle of the GDP rising and falling all over again is surely how the economy behaves and since today we have not been able to explain exactly why and how to stop it. Business cycles are composed by 4 different periods; expansion, peak, contraction and trough. Every period of economic growth and prosperity, is usually followed by a recession. The duration of each cycle varies sometimes 8 years or even 10 but the order is always the same. Recession are very harmful for the standards of living and economists try at all cause to avoid them (Boyes Melvin, 2016). Consequently, the company pays late their own debts which can result in reducing the valuation of the corporation s debt and its ability to obtain financing. The companies that cannot pay their loans may enter in reorganization or get out of business. On the other hand, small businesses get yet worse than big businesses. In other words, in game theory, strategic dominance results in better strategies than any other competitors. This will be explained more detailed later in this report. 2.4 Nash equilibrium The Nash Equilibrium is a concept of game theory where the optimal outcome of a game is one where no player has an incentive to deviate from his chosen strategy after considering an opponent s choice (Investopedia). The higher the demand, the larger the price tags. Demand differs by season. Calculating the cost of gasoline When a station receives a load of gasoline, an invoice is generated that list the price of gasoline by grade. The price will be determined by the prevailing wholesale cost at the time of delivery, the freight, and federal, state and local taxes applicable to the station s location (DeCostanza, P1). Labor expense is also factored into the estimation of the cost of gasoline at gasoline stations as a baseline. Determining competitive conditions Gasoline prices vary at each gasoline station because gasoline marketing is very competitive. Retail prices of competing stations are determined by a pressure of prices in immediate trading areas. Gasoline sales are tools to increase sales traffic for other more profitable products like convenience store items: Giveaway the gasoline to sell the coffee is a saying often heard in the convenience store business (DeCostanza, P1). Similarly, because auto repair shops need to build their customer base for repair, auto repair shops might sell gasoline cheaper than other gasoline stations nearby. 3.2 Gasoline prices Game theory helps us understand the behavior of gasoline station owners in setting gasoline prices. • 45. Second Language Acquisition ( Sla ) Second language acquisition (SLA) has long been a topic of interest for many researchers such as linguists, psychologists, and educators. Through the study of SLA, researchers may better understand the basic properties of languages, how languages are processed in the brain, and how to facilitate the acquisition of a second language. A common topic of inquiry among SLA researchers is why some people seem to learn new languages with ease while others do not. This question is especially important to foreign language educators who want all of their students to succeed at becoming proficient in a second language. In order to provide the proper support their students need, educators must be aware of the many factors that influence SLA. In order to investigate why some language learners appear to be more successful than others, researchers examine the differences between individual learners. The current consensus among experts is that individual learners learn differently depending on variables like learning opportunities, the motivation to learn, individual differences and learning styles in second language acquisition (Bista, 2008, p. 2). Therefore an individual s success is dependent on the combination of many factors. Educators may attempt to determine an individual s chances at learning a language by measuring their language aptitude. While researchers thus far failed to create a universal definition for language aptitude, they have identified some aspects of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This, as we have seen, is in contrast to societies with the concept of an ideal, in which all people have a non ideal status quot; (Davis, p29) Davis is saying that there are many people who are considered normal and want to be better than that. Anorexia deals with this because girls feel they have to be skinny in order to be beautiful. Beautiful as in being prettier than quot;average quot; women are. They want to be the ideal but then they stray away from it as they get into the extremes cases of anorexic they go toward the non ideal situation. Ideology plays a big part in this because with anorexia the girls strive to be skinny, and this is their quot;ideal quot; situation. With anorexia they get to their ideal stage and still have a complex of thinking they are fat. They go far beyond they ideal stage and then the disease takes them far beyond their desired state and get into an acute situation. • 47. Parental Loss At A Young Age Introduction Parental loss at a young age has been linked to heightened risk of psychological problems in adulthood, especially depression and lower self confidence (Mack, 2001; Mireault Bond, 1992; Saler Skolnick, 1992*) It has also been linked to several different health conditions including chronic pain, hypertension, heart disease, and immune disorders (Luekin Lemery, 2004; McEwen Seeman, 2006). The way a child grieves over a lost parent shapes the way that information is interpreted and stored in the brain as well (Lupien, Ouellet Morin, Hupbach, Tu, Buss, Walker, et al., 2006; Vanitallie, 2002) and it can influence whether or not life events are defined as stressful (Lupien et al., 2006). Studies conducted concerning childhood bereavement suggest that early parental loss can lead to the development of poorly regulated neuro emotional response systems (Brotman, Gouley, Klein, Castellanos Pine, 2003) and the alteration of brain structures that help with memory and cognitive functioning (Lupien et al., 2006; Vanitallie, 2002). Because of the impact of the loss, often times, children need help to recover from the loss of their parent. There have been several studies conducted on effective interventions and strategies when it comes to helping a child grieve and recover from the loss of their loved one. Stages of Grief and the Grieving Process Grieving children commonly pass through five different stages of grief, although they do not follow a particular pattern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
