Evil Vs Evil
Why? is a common response to most suffering, pain, loss, and problem caused by evil. An important
human aspect is that upon suffering humans always demand a response which perfectly answers this
major problem of evil. However, one needs to understand that God chose not to give an answer to
every question one may have. All this been said, Specific Evil as the Result of Specific Sins, God as
the Victim of Evil, and The Life Hereafter are extremely important themes to answer not in a perfect
way the problem of: Why God allows evil to exist in the world? An important question that cannot be
ignored is how the Christian faith handles faith through suffering with friend, neighbors, family
members and society as a whole. It is due to faith, love,

Bebop Research Papaer Essay
Bebop music was the next evolutionary change of Jazz music that succeeded swing music. This paper
s aim is look at musicians who impacted this era, exploring more in depth Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie
Parker. In the early 1940 s, the swing bands began to all sound the same as well as work along
predictable chord changes.1 The music was now not used for dancing. Some people believed that this
would let the music go away from the elite social groups, and now be for everybody. Also just because
a musician could play swing music well, there was no guarantee that the same musician would be able
to perform Bebop. This new style of music was defined through adventurous soloists such as Dizzy
Gillespie. Although swing music did have some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gillespie s first recordings were with the Teddy Hill Orchestra Band. After being with
Hill for a few years, Gillespie joined Cab Calloway in the summer of 1939. 13 They played at the
Cotton Club but Calloway was touring a lot. This gave Dizzy the opportunity to develop his
musicianship through style and knowledge through playing at all night jam sessions. Then, in 1942,
Gillespie joined Earl Fatha Hines band.
Unfortunately, in 1943, lots of band members left, including Dizzy Gillespie. He began to form his
own bands that started by opening at Onyx Club on 52nd St in New York

Japanese American Style Essay
As you look on the television and are constantly bombarded by issues of racial calamity in this day
and age, do you notice a specific unrepresented group? For me and several of my fellow peers, this
answer is clearly a yes. The topic that I m choosing to talk about in relation to this class is the Asian
Advantage or the less well known name, Model minority. From the very beginning of life, Asian
Americans are characterized and limited to a specific subset of life. Often times, this subset is often
seen as positive, therefore negating any consequence or fault that this myth may have.
The model minority myth was created in 1966 by sociologist William Petersen in an article, Success
Story: Japanese American Style , that was published in the New York Times Magazine. In this article,
it talks about the reasons why Japanese Americans have been successful in the United States even
after being condemned into internment camps. The timing of this article, however, was very
convenient in timing because it was released only a year after the Moynihan report, which stated that
the reasons that African Americans were faltering in their own socio economic status was because they
weren t doing what the model minority, Japanese Americans, were doing (Wang 2016).
If you look back in history, even the government is clearly guilty of influencing the public perception
on different groups of people. With the Immigration Act of 1965, it only allowed for skilled and
educated immigrants from Asia

Key West Ehrenreich Character Analysis
According to Ehrenreich, no job is truly unskilled ( Ehrenreich 194). Ehrenreich s three proudest
moments included finishing her tasks fast enough to help others. the breakthrough at Wal Mart where
she believed she could make $7.75 if she kept quiet, and specifically the day at Woodcrest. Ehrenreich
claimed it was a moment I ll bask for the rest of my life where she fed the locked Alzheimer s ward all
by herself, all while receiving smiles from others (Ehrenreich 194). Ehrenreich was proud of her
physical ability because of her endurance. She argued that in a time period well into my fifties I never
collapsed or needed time off to recuperate (Ehrenreich 195). Ehrenreich exhibits four essential traits:

gains the past four years. She believes they have not been sufficient to bring low wage workers up to
the amounts they were earning twenty seven years ago Ehrenreich 203). Specifically, the poorest
workers are the ones who have made the least amount of progress. Workers do not quit because at a
new job, you have to start all over, clueless and friendless (Ehrenreich 205). Low wage workers are
also restrained by their immobility. Most of them rely on someone driving them to work or having to
pay for expensive gas, changing jobs would mean having to find a new way to work. Employers can
always count on money taboo. It is the personal communication among low wage workers. The

Elvis Research Paper
According to Google, Genius is defined as someone who is very intelligent or creative,
either in a general or a particular respect. Therefore, it s not specific to the area of inventors,
scientists, etc. Today, there is a Genius for about every stereotypical category. One of the most
popular and distinguished Genius, who was highly famous during the mid 1950s, is none other
than the The King of Rock and Roll , Elvis Aaron Presley. Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 in
a two room shack with his twin brother, who unfortunately died at birth. Being born into a
substandard life was something he despised. He didn t want others to know he was poor, so he

received in his life, it was only one of many.
[Awards and recognitions] Elvis has received many awards and recognitions throughout
his life, such as Grammy Hall of Fame Award, Grammy Award for Best Inspirational
Performance, NME Award for World s Outstanding Popular Singer and much more. Elvis also
received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, which according to Wikipedia, is only
given to performers who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of
outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording. This is a big deal as this award would
be only given to the best of the best and Elvis was the one. He was born into a business with no

Next 11 Research Paper
The purpose of this research paper is to take an in depth investigation of a topic related to international
economics. After taking an in depth investigation of What and Who is the Next 11 we will be able to
describe in full an overview of the next 11, differences between next 11 and BRIC, current consumer
trends, N11 business environments, potential drawbacks, and future scenarios. We will have a full
understanding of what defines the Next 11, what composes them and why they are who they are.
First of all who and what are the Next 11. The Next Eleven, known also as N 11, is a term coined by
Goldman Sachs in late 2005 to represent the eleven countries it thought could potentially have a BRIC
like impact in rivaling in the G7 nations. The N11 countries are Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran,
South Korea, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey and Vietnam. Although varied both
geographically and economically, these 11 nations have highlights in like manner that are accepted to
single out their high financial potential.
All have extensive and developing populations. Between 1980 and 2008, population development was
most noteworthy in Pakistan at 110.8%, with the least being in South Korea, with 28.4% period
development;
Of the N11 countries, Indonesia had the largest population as of January 2008, with 228.9 million
people, while South Korea had the smallest at 47.6 million;

The N11 nations are additionally distinctive in their business surroundings, influencing their relative
appeal as a venture destination. A countries business environment is roughly explained as the mix of
inner and outside elements that impact an organization s or nations working circumstance. The
business environment can incorporate components, for example, customers and suppliers; its
opposition and proprietors; enhancements in innovation; laws and government exercises; and market,

What Is Appeasement In The 1930s
In the 1930s, Germany and other nations got away with doing whatever they wanted. Countries such
as Great Britain and France allowed Germany to continue doing this because they wanted to keep
peace in Europe . This was known as appeasement. Appeasement is when nations give into a nation to
keep peace.
Germany took advantage of other European countries not doing anything to stop them by conquering a
large amount of land. Hitler also pledged that he would undo the Treaty of Versailles. He
accomplished this by entering a narrow strip of land known as the Rhineland, which was prohibited by
the treaty. France was stunned and were unwilling to risk war. Capturing the Rhineland strengthened
Hitler s power and prestige and changed the balance of power

Character Analysis Of VMAT2 LO Mice
C. APPROACH.
C.1. Mouse PD model to be used in this project: In VMAT2 LO, a transgenic mouse PD model, shut
down of 95% endogenous vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) leads to a massive oxidative
deamination of monoamine neurotransmitters [43], accompanied by increased oxidative stress markers
and a significant decrease of antioxidant ability [44]. Therefore, oxidative damage could be the culprit
for the replication of the pathogenic features of PD [45], including substantial reductions of DA and
NE levels in the brain, progressive neurodegeneration in the SNpc and LC with formation of α
synuclein containing inclusions. More importantly, neuronal loss in the LC of VMAT2 LO mice starts

To address this possibility, SK N BE(2)M17 and MN9D cells will be exposed to 50, 100, and 200 µM
H2O2 for 4 days (concentration course) or 200 µM H2O2 for 1, 2 and 4 days (time course). After
several sets of exposures, cells will be harvested for different measurements: intracellular ROS by
DCFH2 DA assay, reduced form of glutathione (GSH) by the fluorescent probe monochlorobimane
assay, levels of Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) by western blotting and cell viability (MTT
assay), respectively. Similar experiments and measurements will be carried out in primary cultures
from the mouse ventral mesencephalon and LC to verify the findings in cell lines.
Anticipated results and interpretation: Based on our primary experiments, increased ROS levels and a
reduced viability will be expected in noradrenergic neurons, indicating a higher vulnerability of
noradrenergic neurons compared to DAergic neurons. Although most ROS are membrane permeant,
O2− does not generally cross cell membranes readily [52]. As the DCFH2 DA assay mainly measures
O2− levels [53], this methodology will provide accurately reflect the right ROS levels in the cells. We
will also measure levels of the antioxidants SOD1, which catalyzes O2− into O2 [54] and GSH. We
expect levels of SOD1 and GSH will be lower in noradrenergic than DAergic neurons, as reduced
antioxidant levels are always concomitantly

Evaluating The Maximum Tolerated Dose
INTRODUCTION Oncology patients are often severely ill and often resort to aggressive therapies
with the potential of serious toxicity. The primary objective for dose escalation in phase I trials is to
avoid exposing too many patients to subtherapeutic doses while preserving safety and maintaining
rapid accrual through a reliable practical dose finding design [1]. A phase I cancer trial aims to
determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD), defined as the dose for which the probability of
toxicity is closest to a prespecified target toxicity rate p_T (the toxicity probability of the true MTD).
Dose limiting toxicity (DLT) is a side effect of treatments that are serious enough to prevent an
increase in dose. In other words, MTD is the highest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prior studies have reviewed a vast literatures on dose escalation methods for Phase I trials in cancer,
yet very few of them have been used in practice [3]. However, few statistical studies have matched
sample sizes across the designs [4]. The purpose of this proposal is to evaluate three dose escalation
designs which are optimal for determining the closest dose to the actual MTD while exposing the least
amount of patients to either ineffective with roughly match sample sizes and similar target toxicity
probabilities p_T. This proposal includes three specific aims and two hypothesis. Specific Aim 1:
Introduce a new dose finding design hybrid (3+1) that can be easily understood and implemented by
non statisticians. By combining the rule based embedded in the 3+3 method with the model based
embedded in mTPI. Hypothesis: The operating characteristics of the proposed design hybrid (3+1) is
better than those of two other designs, the 3+3, and mTPI. Specific Aim 2: Conduct a comprehensive
simulation experiment to detect the true MTD for different toxicity scenarios. Specific Aim 3:
Evaluate these three designs by comparing the MTD on a practical application Samarium in Pediatric
Osteosarcoma (SPO) trial. SIGNIFICANCE AND RELEVANCE TO PUBLIC HEALTH Dose finding
designs in cancer clinical trials are a broad class of clinical experiments to determine an optimal
(MTD) of drug for cancer related treatment or prevention. By applying these designs to SPO trial we

Almost everybody has had a plush bear when they were young. It s a symbol of tenderness and
gentleness. I personally had different bears made in Germany, China, England...with different forms,
colors and names.
Even if the teddy bear manufacturing is a saturated industry with many competitors, it has not
prevented the Vermont teddy Bear Company to launch its own business.
The Vermont Teddy Bear company (VTB) was created in 1980 by John Sortino. Currently the
company is located in the city of Shelburne (Vermont, USA) and counts 289 employees. Vermont

choosing with a delicious gourmet (caramel or chocolate) and your own personal message printed on a
colorful gift card in a fun gift box.
With its online website, the VTB Company reaches a larger target group.
* Its Brand image: * Made in USA * Quality handmade * A lifetime and delivery guarantee on every

big teddy bear from 3 to 6 feet! These are probably the best things which leave the most important
impact on the customer.
This Brand image was reinforced by its numerous Vermont Teddy Bear advertising campaigns on the

Stereotypes In Spirited Away
We all are influenced daily, whether it is negative or positive, it depends on who or what situations
you put yourself in. Sometimes you don t have a choice what happens to you, we see this in the film
Spirited Away when Chihiro is transported to another world . Before put in the other world Chihiro is
your typical kid this time around, stubborn and not accepting change. We learn this by listening to the
dialogue about her new school. It s gonna stink, I liked my old school . Then her parents are turned
into pigs and she is transported to the other world as i call it. During her time there, she worked in the
bath house. This is a good example of character growth, the same character that was unable to accept

unable to help Chihiro, which sets him into a state of inertia. After that scene we see No face eating

she realizes that being in the bath house is what is making him crazy. Chihiro leads him up and out of
the bath house where he settles down and finds himself again. In both cases, Yubaba s baby and No
face both had a very negative influence, After being brought into the real world they were both able to
find themselves again. The baby is able to stand up all on his own and enjoys the real world. No face
is given the approval from Chihiro he was seeking all along. These examples are very different, in the
way of how they met Chihiro and what they gained from this trip. Although we do notice some
similarities, in both cases our characters found themselves and what they were missing out on becuase

The Nuance Group Summary
Part 1
Zaremba (2010) points out that crisis is any unanticipated event, incident, situation, or development
that has the potential to damage or destroy your organization s reputation . (P.234) This definition
indicates two attributes of crisis: unexpectedness and destructiveness, so effective communication is
crucial to manage a crisis. The Nuance Group, a successful management consulting company, with a
reputation of experienced and highly educated consultants, was facing the crisis brought by its great
reputation . As a consultancy, it s their profession to market themselves. A glossy brochure with

When this kind of exaggeration was acquiesced to do by the superior who also want to gain more
clients for the first time, he would think that s OK and tried another time, although he knew he lied.
After many instances of neglect by the superior, the consultant would not think his behavior was
unethical and believe it was normal. As a consequence, more and more employees chose to embellish
their biography because they believed this kind of behavior is good for the company.
Part2
The first 48 hours after the outburst of crisis is the prime time to reduce destruction of the crisis and
restore the reputation of the corporation, so when to react and how to react are crucial for crisis
communication. As for the Nuance case, the company needs to take the following steps to deal with
the crisis.
1. Establish crisis communication team and designate the leader and spokesperson
After the crisis emerged, the company needs to establish a crisis communication team first. The team
must consist of directors from various departments and high level executives, especially CEO and
crisis management experts. In this team, it is crucial to have a leader who could mobilize resources,
make a decision and be responsible for all decisions. Everyone in the team is responsible for a unique
issue.
2. Investigate the fact and make a crisis communication plan

Animal Welfare ( Dairy Cattle ) Code Of Welfare Essay
Animal Welfare (Dairy Cattle) Code of Welfare 2014 Overview This code gives animal owner and the
person in charge of the animals guidelines of minimum standard of care and management taken when
caring for dairy cows in New Zealand. The code of welfare for dairy cows would be especially
important as the dairy industry is becoming increasingly important in New Zealand, the high demand
in dairy product would mean more farmers would have to provide adequate care and welfare for the
ever increasing dairy cows produced. This code gives the owner or the person in charge of the animals
a list of 6 minimum standards to follow whilst managing dairy cows, the minimum standards listed
includes the stockmanship, the physical environment, health, and husbandry practices. The owner or
person in charge of the cattle must follow the minimum requirements, the failure to comply to the
minimum standards may be used as evidence to prosecute under the Animal Welfare Act (1999).
Positive Attributes The code of welfare for dairy cows at part 4.4 states that cow and calves must be
able to lie down and rest for a sufficient amount of time per day to meet their behavioural needs
(Placeholder1). This is proven to an important aspect while managing dairy cows as providing an open
paddock for the cows to lie down and rest would increase the cows well being and comfort as well as
increasing production (D. B. Haley, J. Rushen, A. M. de Passillé, 2000), as opposed to cows being

My Views On The United States
It was with ecstatic delight and tears of joy that I realized I was finally getting the chance to move to
the United States. I had secretly admired and hoped to live in America. Residing in the United States
was pinned on my mind as the best life that one can have in the world. But my main idea behind the
admiration of living in the United States was motivated by my desire to achieve academic excellence.
My goal was set, and my mind was fixed with sheer enthusiasm to attain the target. Since birth, the
Arabic language was my primary and only language. Considering that I had only two weeks before

Thank you. To create more banter out of it, he translated the phrase into Arabic, so my nickname is

After close to two months in school, I was not doing well at all. I was used to memorization classes in
Saudi Arabia where most of the studies were about Islam. This was an entirely different language.
English was a different animal that I had to learn how to deal with. The instructors at school would
talk about sentence structures, subject, object, nouns, verbs, adverbs and more confusing a marriage of
noun and a verb. I could not understand what was happening. I was the last in the continuous

Arabia, I was always disappointed to become second in class. I always wanted to be first. I had to be
first in this class also. My goal was set to be first in the class.
My salvation in learning came in an unexpected form. My aunt felt irresponsible that she could not
communicate with me effectively. She found a solution to help us communicate when my uncle was
not around. She came up with a rather tedious but working method. She would

The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard Essay
In Tom Stoppard s skilfully delineated play, The Real Inspector Hound, he seeks to merely parody the
traditional crime fiction genre. The play does not criticise or parody at the expense of the genre but it
is simply poking affectionate fun at it. Stoppard identifies the classic techniques used in crime fiction
and exaggerates it to such an extent that it causes the audience to laugh at the ludicrousness of the
genre. He parodies the typical layout and the archetypal characters used in traditional crime fiction
stories. Stoppard adds to the amusement of the play through the use of parallel plots that absurdly and
unpredictably merge, creating a classic yet twisted denouement. The Real Inspector Hound is a play
that cleverly fulfils all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The wittily named character, Mrs Drudge is the first to enter on stage and takes on the archetypal
domestic character in traditional crime fiction. She does this by keeping a watchful eye on all of the
characters and giving useful information to the detective nearing the big reveal of the murderer. Mrs
Drudge fulfils and exaggerates this role perfectly, saying things such as I chanced to overhear a
remark... (pg. 45) and I also happened to be in earshot of a remark... (pg. 46) nearing the denouement.
Simon Gascoyne is the classic red herring character who causes the audience to think he is the
murderer as he has suspiciously appeared in the neighbourhood from nowhere (pg. 41) and as all the
characters despise him. Cynthia or Lady Muldoon represents the Grande Dame type character who is
typically depicted as an upper class socialite often linking all the characters together. Felicity
Cunningham is the typical femme fatale type character who is both seductive as well as cunning. She
often comes up with snide remarks such as Yes, Simon is an old friend, though not as old as you,
Cynthia dear. (pg. 24). Major Magnus takes on the role of the mysterious military bound relative as
described by Mrs Drudge, the crippled half brother of Lord Muldoon who turned up out of the blue...

The Mongol empire was one of the most prevalent, feared, and influential empires to ever gallop

Temujin s ability to unify these radically polar people was the jumping off point in the reign and
legacy of the Mongol empire. His sheer capability and practices were then engrained into successors
that was most impressive. The Mongolian Empire speedily conquered staggering amounts of land in
only a finite amount of time, but their most imposing obstacle was finding a way to govern these
foreign lands. Genghis Khan was the first to integrate the Mongols into these societies, and with their
expert military skills, they overthrew surrounding nations and captured their lands. Genghis knew that
he couldn t adopt an umbrella policy for vastly differing nations, so the Mongols who occupied each
subjected nation reigned over the people and installed different governmental structures that suited
particular societies. One of his monumental creations that defined ruling structure, was that of his
Yasa. This was essentially a guide on the ethics and precedence s of the Mongols. It created stability
within Mongol s that allowed them to focus on maintaining their grip on other colonies without
infringing too much upon the culture.
The Golden horde was the main military reckoning of the Mongols and is what allowed them to take

The rise and fall of the mining sector
The mining boom has had broad, positive effects on the Australian economy, especially at a time when
the global economic situation was precarious. The growth in exports and investment over the past ten
years have supported increased employment, regional development and increased revenues for both
federal and state governments. Figures from ABS (2014) show that the mining sector accounted for
around 11 per cent of Australia s GDP in 2013 14 where earnings reached 195 billion, up from 7.8 per
cent in 2003 04. Over the past decade the mining industry has grown more than any other industry in
Australia with its industry gross value added increasing by $72 billion in that time more than 50 per
cent higher than the second largest contributor to growth. In 2013 14 mining was the key contributor
to Australia s economic growth, followed by financial services and construction.
A major contributor to the mining boom in Australia was the influx of Chinese FDI within the sector

Lord Of The Glies And John Locke s Lord Of The Flies
Jordan Early Nathan Carpenter PHIL 101.004 4 December 2017 John Locke Lord of the Flies In the
book, Second Treatise of Government , John Locke explains to the readers how a government should
be run and the freedoms that people should have. He also talks about the natural laws that people
should follow. Locke petitions a natural law of morality to govern people before they enter a society.
But in order to conserve themselves, people come together to lay a foundation for a government. Once
that has begun, the people agree on certain fundamental behaviors to follow. According to Locke, this
action breaks down their natural rights as human beings. This follows the movie, Lord of the Flies, as
boys are stranded on a remote island out at sea. The boys start out in Locke s state of nature. Due to
them being all alone, they work together to survive. While beginning their new life as a uniform tribe,
they inevitably come to an unacceptable state of war that gives rise to complete and utter chaos on the
island. John Locke describes the state of nature as a state all men are naturally in, and that is, a state of
perfect freedom to order their actions, and dispose of their possessions and persons, as they think fit,
within the bounds of the law of nature, without asking to leave, or depending upon the will of any
other man (§4). The state of nature is a state of equality, where not one person has a sense of power
over other people. It is the time before a society

Illegal Immigration
Illegal Immigration
Illegal immigration has stirred up quite a heated and lengthy debate regarding the laws pertaining to
immigration. Prior to having an opinion about illegal immigration, one must first understand
immigration, as a whole. An immigrant is defined as, an individual authorized to remain in the United
States indefinitely, and who is a lawful permanent resident (LPR), popularly known as a green card
holder. (Mehta). There are different types of immigrants who enter into the United States legally such
as, persons working in the US with an employment visa, refugees and family based immigrants are
essentially sponsored by a family member who is an LPR, to gain permanent residence in the US. The
process for legal immigration is typically time consuming and sometimes it can be a difficult process
for people wishing to enter the US. Because of this lengthy process there has been an increase in the
numbers associated with illegal immigration. Despite the argument surrounding illegal immigration,
immigration laws should be changed for a number of reasons.
What is the origin and history of immigration laws in this country?
When people think of the laws pertaining to immigration and the history of immigration in the United
States many individuals think of the most recent immigration laws such as the Homeland Security Act,
enforced in 2002 and the Secure Fence Act enacted in 2006. While these acts and the more recent
legislation regarding immigration are

Britain as an Awkward Partner in the European Community
Britain emerged from the war in a relatively favourable position, compared to its European
neighbours. In 1946 industrial production was as high as at any time pre war, and increasing quite fast.
By the end of the year exports had regained their pre war level along with this there was little
unemployment and retail prices remained fairly stable. All this contrasted strongly with the situation in
France, Germany and Italy. Indeed in the late 1940 s and into the early 1950 s Britain s economy
performed better then it s European counterparts. Churchill suggested that France and West Germany
should lead the creation of a new Europe for justice, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The official line on Britain s non entry being , we are not willing to make prior commitment to a
scheme whose terms of membership are unknown. This also underlines the fact that Britain wanted to
continue as before and thought it could, at the time Britain was producing about one half of the coal
and steel in Europe.
Right from the conception of the European union Britain has stood aloof from the union being very
cautious and wary. From as far back as the creation of the European Steel and Coal Community in
1952 Britain has shown its unwillingness and reservations about joining Europe. The ECSC was set
up under the Treaty of Paris in 1951 with 6 countries signing. These countries were France, Italy,
Luxemburg, Holland and Belgium. Britain was expected to join the ECSC but this was not the case.
Britain at the time had a far superior economy in strength than the rest of its European counterparts
and felt the union would only inhibit them Economically.
In 1955 a congress was held on the creation of a general customs union, to which Britain did not deem
important enough to send more than a civil servant. However even he was recalled from the
conference. This demonstrated the arrogance of Britain at the time that felt that these Treaties and
agreements did not warrant their involvement. Further adding to their

Foreign Direct Investment Into Pakistan
Title:
Causes of Foreign direct investment into Pakistan.
Aim and objectives:
The dissertation topic will focus on the importance of foreign direct investment into Pakistan s
Economy and will also focus around the causes of foreign direct investment. The report will look into
three different perspectives such as, the effects on FDI pre and post 9/11, investment in different
sectors of industry and the importance of investing countries in terms of contributing towards
developing Pakistan s infrastructure or helping financially to fight the War against terror . Moreover,
the report also provides an insight to what can be done to improve the inflow of FDI into Pakistan.
Background of Pakistan s economy and FDI: Since the independence in 1947 the economy of Pakistan
has emerged as a semi industrialized economy and is mainly based on textile, agriculture and food
production. The textile industry contributes around 9% to the country s gross domestic product
(khurram baig, 2013). However, since the start of 2008 the country as a whole has struggled to gain
the confidence of many foreign and local investors due to instability and security concerns and the
country is struggling to gain back the confidence ever since. Although, after 2012 an increase in the
FDI was seen due to improvement in the tertiary sector, this was n mainly due to an increase in
spending power and confidence shown by the local consumers (The World Bank).

So, this case study is about Harley Davidson, a brand of motorcycles and more precisely about its
development since his foundation in 1903 by 21 year old William S. Harley and 20 year old Arthur

So, in 2003, it was the celebration of the 100th birthday of the Harley Davidson. And, in order to
commemorate it, fans of this famous brand rode until Milwaukee to see the parade of 10 000 Harley

The Religion of Sikhism
Sikhism is the youngest of the world s five great monotheistic religions. In 1801, the Sikh state was
founded in Northern India by Maharaja Ranjit Singh based on the teachings of Guru Nanak, who is
also the founder. The teachings of Sikhism are summed up by Guru Nanak in these words: Realization
of truth is higher than all else. Higher still is truthful living (Teece). Sikhs have a variety of teachings
in their culture and religion, but the ones I found emphasized the principles of equality of all humans
and rejection of discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, and gender. Like other religious founders,
Guru Nanak was fascinated by God and religion and starting at a young age he did not participate in
religious rituals and often meditated alone. As a young man, he took many missionary trips because of
his desire to explore and gain knowledge. There is one primary source of scripture for the Sikhs, the
Guru Granth Sahib or the Adi Granth. The two texts are used interchangeably, and the Guru Granth
Sahib can be called the first volume. However, the two books have different compilations. The first,
Adi Granth, was created by Guru Arjan in 1604 and the Guru Granth Sahib was later compiled by
Guru Gobind Singh. Who and what is a Sikh? The word Sikh in the Punjabi language means disciple .
Sikhs are the disciples of God who follow the writings and teachings of the Ten Sikh Gurus. The

The Model-Minority Stereotypes
My friend is a Chinese Indonesian, and the first word or image that came to her mind when the word
minority was introduced, is culture. Being a Chinese that lives in Indonesia, she has the privileges of
learning both cultures. Both Indonesian and Chinese cultures, unfortunately, are very conservative,
which is why she said she had hard times accepting the freedom in the White culture. She did not see
her race as a minority, because she said, Asian kids are the smartest, it is just our accent that makes us
look dumb. She also did not receive any racial discrimination before. She supported immigration, and
her first image regarding immigration is of her grandparents as an immigrant because they move from

Lee s reading on Behind the Model Minority Stereotypes: Voices of High and Low Achieving Asian
American Students, I learned that that people s identity has a lot to do with how they perceive
minority and immigration. There are many things that Lee described that I find very accurate to the
answers of my interviewees. Lee mentioned that Asian American students are viewed as a model
minority, and there is this model minority stereotype that causes many teachers to expect greater
things from their Asian students. However, I discovered something interesting, that two of my Asian
interviewees actually believed in the stereotype, and thought of themselves as academically superior.
This is very true for my Asian American friend who said that she felt extremely proud to have the
American English accent and White culture, and at the same time having the intelligence of the Asian
brain. This can be related to the reading when one of the Korean students responded, We are smarter. I
mean, I don t think it s a stereotype look at our report cards. We are better, and we have to show it
(417). However, this is different with my peer s interview on his Asian friend who hates Math and
denies the stereotypes. The Chinese Indonesian Asian whom I interviewed also felt intelligent
compared to other races, but she admitted that her accent prevents her from speaking her thoughts.
This is similar to Thai s case where he wanted to be a lawyer, but chose engineering because of her
accent. In addition, my Chinese Indonesian interview can support Ogbu s argument, that is also
present in Lee s reading, that voluntary minorities who usually migrate because of better education
and opportunities, tends to do better academically (414). However, this should not be applied to all
Asian voluntary minorities, as generalization should not be made. In addition, Lee also mentioned
about Ogbu s

The Influence Of Political Socialization
Growing up, our views on politics and the government were always one sided because of the fact, that
we didn t understand much about any political situation but just hear what our parents or family
members had to say and agree with it. As we got older we started to develop and interest for politics
and become more active in it as it will later shape our futures. This process, in which we form ideas
about politics is what we call, political socialization. Given a quiz before hand, we were tested on out
political socialization to be shown what our views lean towards. Our group was tested to see where
they thought they stood on a scale labeling us to either be more liberal or more conservative. Later
during the quiz, we were given specific questions that would place place us on a two dimensional
ideology diagram to see where we actually stood from answering the questions truthfully. Our group
will compare and contrast each other s personal results from taking the quiz and also talk about the
publics placement. Knowing that we all live a different life growing up, we will always have our own
experiences and develop new ideas and views towards our politics and government. With attention to,
political socialization is mainly shaped during our childhood, people continue to shape their political
views throughout their lives. Being that family is the most political influence through our lives we

The Benefits Of Learning A Foreign Language
Everyone who utters a word speaks a language, but if nobody understands a language someone
speaks, then communication becomes very difficult no matter how much explaining is done.
Languages are used globally, yet they vary from country to country. Although languages vary a lot, it s
important to learn other languages to build understanding. Most students are taught foreign language
during their time in high school. learning a new language has been taught in high school where more
students start their couple of year first starting a new language that they may have never heard of
before. Although foreign language may be difficult for high school students, it helps them get a job,
gain opportunities, and provide a different perspective of the world.
First, many high school students can learn a foreign language to help them get ready for high school to
become a translator. According to a high school teacher, we are giving students a leg up in the world
that will require them to interact with the people abroad. The teacher is thinking that adding a foreign
language in high school would can help the world by breaking language barriers in foreign language.
This would help the future of the students in life that would go outside of the United States. Not only
does knowing a foreign language help a person speak another language but many other big or small
business will want to hire high school students. According to many people in the world they say that
the more language a high school student know can benefit for into getting a job. Therefore, the more
languages a high school student know now the higher the chance they will get the job than the person
next to the applicant. Knowing a foreign language will be able to help the big businesses that are from

Some people are born into stable families, so they have m ore opportunities than those that are born

One other thing society canít do is simply hand out money or food stamps to the families of these
children. Who knows where this money is going or what it is being used for? The food stamps could
be intended to feed a baby, but instead they could be used to buy food or items that a child will never

  • 3. Bebop Research Papaer Essay Bebop music was the next evolutionary change of Jazz music that succeeded swing music. This paper s aim is look at musicians who impacted this era, exploring more in depth Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. In the early 1940 s, the swing bands began to all sound the same as well as work along predictable chord changes.1 The music was now not used for dancing. Some people believed that this would let the music go away from the elite social groups, and now be for everybody. Also just because a musician could play swing music well, there was no guarantee that the same musician would be able to perform Bebop. This new style of music was defined through adventurous soloists such as Dizzy Gillespie. Although swing music did have some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Japanese American Style Essay As you look on the television and are constantly bombarded by issues of racial calamity in this day and age, do you notice a specific unrepresented group? For me and several of my fellow peers, this answer is clearly a yes. The topic that I m choosing to talk about in relation to this class is the Asian Advantage or the less well known name, Model minority. From the very beginning of life, Asian Americans are characterized and limited to a specific subset of life. Often times, this subset is often seen as positive, therefore negating any consequence or fault that this myth may have. The model minority myth was created in 1966 by sociologist William Petersen in an article, Success Story: Japanese American Style , that was published in the New York Times Magazine. In this article, it talks about the reasons why Japanese Americans have been successful in the United States even after being condemned into internment camps. The timing of this article, however, was very convenient in timing because it was released only a year after the Moynihan report, which stated that the reasons that African Americans were faltering in their own socio economic status was because they weren t doing what the model minority, Japanese Americans, were doing (Wang 2016). If you look back in history, even the government is clearly guilty of influencing the public perception on different groups of people. Countries such as Great Britain and France allowed Germany to continue doing this because they wanted to keep peace in Europe . This was known as appeasement. Appeasement is when nations give into a nation to keep peace. Germany took advantage of other European countries not doing anything to stop them by conquering a large amount of land. Mouse PD model to be used in this project: In VMAT2 LO, a transgenic mouse PD model, shut down of 95% endogenous vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) leads to a massive oxidative deamination of monoamine neurotransmitters [43], accompanied by increased oxidative stress markers and a significant decrease of antioxidant ability [44]. Therefore, oxidative damage could be the culprit for the replication of the pathogenic features of PD [45], including substantial reductions of DA and NE levels in the brain, progressive neurodegeneration in the SNpc and LC with formation of α synuclein containing inclusions. After several sets of exposures, cells will be harvested for different measurements: intracellular ROS by DCFH2 DA assay, reduced form of glutathione (GSH) by the fluorescent probe monochlorobimane assay, levels of Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) by western blotting and cell viability (MTT assay), respectively. Similar experiments and measurements will be carried out in primary cultures from the mouse ventral mesencephalon and LC to verify the findings in cell lines. Anticipated results and interpretation: Based on our primary experiments, increased ROS levels and a reduced viability will be expected in noradrenergic neurons, indicating a higher vulnerability of noradrenergic neurons compared to DAergic neurons. Although most ROS are membrane permeant, O2− does not generally cross cell membranes readily [52]. As the DCFH2 DA assay mainly measures O2− levels [53], this methodology will provide accurately reflect the right ROS levels in the cells. We will also measure levels of the antioxidants SOD1, which catalyzes O2− into O2 [54] and GSH. We expect levels of SOD1 and GSH will be lower in noradrenergic than DAergic neurons, as reduced antioxidant levels are always concomitantly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Evaluating The Maximum Tolerated Dose INTRODUCTION Oncology patients are often severely ill and often resort to aggressive therapies with the potential of serious toxicity. The primary objective for dose escalation in phase I trials is to avoid exposing too many patients to subtherapeutic doses while preserving safety and maintaining rapid accrual through a reliable practical dose finding design [1]. A phase I cancer trial aims to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD), defined as the dose for which the probability of toxicity is closest to a prespecified target toxicity rate p_T (the toxicity probability of the true MTD). Dose limiting toxicity (DLT) is a side effect of treatments that are serious enough to prevent an increase in dose. In other words, MTD is the highest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This proposal includes three specific aims and two hypothesis. Specific Aim 1: Introduce a new dose finding design hybrid (3+1) that can be easily understood and implemented by non statisticians. He also talks about the natural laws that people should follow. Locke petitions a natural law of morality to govern people before they enter a society. But in order to conserve themselves, people come together to lay a foundation for a government. Once that has begun, the people agree on certain fundamental behaviors to follow. According to Locke, this action breaks down their natural rights as human beings. This follows the movie, Lord of the Flies, as boys are stranded on a remote island out at sea. The boys start out in Locke s state of nature. Due to them being all alone, they work together to survive. While beginning their new life as a uniform tribe, they inevitably come to an unacceptable state of war that gives rise to complete and utter chaos on the island. In 1946 industrial production was as high as at any time pre war, and increasing quite fast. By the end of the year exports had regained their pre war level along with this there was little unemployment and retail prices remained fairly stable. All this contrasted strongly with the situation in France, Germany and Italy. Indeed in the late 1940 s and into the early 1950 s Britain s economy performed better then it s European counterparts. Right from the conception of the European union Britain has stood aloof from the union being very cautious and wary. From as far back as the creation of the European Steel and Coal Community in 1952 Britain has shown its unwillingness and reservations about joining Europe. The ECSC was set up under the Treaty of Paris in 1951 with 6 countries signing. These countries were France, Italy, Luxemburg, Holland and Belgium. Britain was expected to join the ECSC but this was not the case. Britain at the time had a far superior economy in strength than the rest of its European counterparts and felt the union would only inhibit them Economically. In 1955 a congress was held on the creation of a general customs union, to which Britain did not deem important enough to send more than a civil servant. • 31. The Religion of Sikhism Sikhism is the youngest of the world s five great monotheistic religions. In 1801, the Sikh state was founded in Northern India by Maharaja Ranjit Singh based on the teachings of Guru Nanak, who is also the founder. The teachings of Sikhism are summed up by Guru Nanak in these words: Realization of truth is higher than all else. Higher still is truthful living (Teece). Sikhs have a variety of teachings in their culture and religion, but the ones I found emphasized the principles of equality of all humans and rejection of discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, and gender. Like other religious founders, Guru Nanak was fascinated by God and religion and starting at a young age he did not participate in religious rituals and often meditated alone. As a young man, he took many missionary trips because of his desire to explore and gain knowledge. There is one primary source of scripture for the Sikhs, the Guru Granth Sahib or the Adi Granth. The two texts are used interchangeably, and the Guru Granth Sahib can be called the first volume. However, the two books have different compilations. The first, Adi Granth, was created by Guru Arjan in 1604 and the Guru Granth Sahib was later compiled by Guru Gobind Singh. Who and what is a Sikh? She did not see her race as a minority, because she said, Asian kids are the smartest, it is just our accent that makes us look dumb. She also did not receive any racial discrimination before. There are many things that Lee described that I find very accurate to the answers of my interviewees. Lee mentioned that Asian American students are viewed as a model minority, and there is this model minority stereotype that causes many teachers to expect greater things from their Asian students. However, I discovered something interesting, that two of my Asian interviewees actually believed in the stereotype, and thought of themselves as academically superior. This is very true for my Asian American friend who said that she felt extremely proud to have the American English accent and White culture, and at the same time having the intelligence of the Asian brain. This can be related to the reading when one of the Korean students responded, We are smarter. I mean, I don t think it s a stereotype look at our report cards. We are better, and we have to show it (417). However, this is different with my peer s interview on his Asian friend who hates Math and denies the stereotypes. The Chinese Indonesian Asian whom I interviewed also felt intelligent compared to other races, but she admitted that her accent prevents her from speaking her thoughts. This is similar to Thai s case where he wanted to be a lawyer, but chose engineering because of her accent. In addition, my Chinese Indonesian interview can support Ogbu s argument, that is also present in Lee s reading, that voluntary minorities who usually migrate because of better education and opportunities, tends to do better academically (414). However, this should not be applied to all Asian voluntary minorities, as generalization should not be made. In addition, Lee also mentioned about Ogbu s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
