Abstract
Baroque was born in Italy, and later adopted in France, Germany, Netherlands, and Spain. The word
baroque was first applied to the art of period from the late 1500s to the late 1700s, by critics in the late
nineteen century. Baroque covers a wide range of styles and artists. In painting and sculpture we
recognize three main forms of Baroque:
Baroque that was primarily associated with the religious tensions within Western Christianity: division
on Roman Catholicism and Protestantism. In response to the Protestant Reformation of the early
sixteen century, the Roman Catholic Church had embarked in the 1550s ... Show more content on

Instead the wealth father welcomes his son back into the home. The aged artist s power of realism is
not diminished, but increased by psychological insight and spiritual awareness. Expressive lighting
and colouring and the magic suggestiveness of his technique, together with a selective simplicity of
setting, help us to feel the full impact of the event. (Rembrandt s Prodigal Son, 2012). Just like
Caravaggio s art, Rembrandt s art had a biblical perspective with their art, that is displayed with
energy and feeling.

Rafaello Sanzio Da Urbino
A picture is worth a thousand words, a phrase many I am sure have heard. Art can symbolize limitless
possibilities because many people perceive things differently. Art can form differing opinions and
produce different feelings for people. Any piece of art is able to do this, just like Raphael s painting,
named the School of Athens. Rafaello Sanzio da Urbino, or Raphael, is regarded as the leading artistic
figure of Italian High Renaissance classicism (Biography.com Editors). He is known for many
paintings, one which is widely known, is the School of Athens. The School of Athens is painted in the
Apostolic Palace in Vatican City(TotallyHistory). The painting was painted from the years of 1509 to
1510; Raphael uses fresco to make this beautiful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the School of Athens, the background with the blue sky and the entrance make the two philosophers
in the painting seem like godly, or powerful figures who possess knowledge of the world; they seem
like they have descended from the heavens. The painting makes it seem the two philosophers are
entering the church like place to share the knowledge that they carry with them. The people around
them are extracting the knowledge and passing it down to others on the left and right side of the
painting; some of the other individuals are taking notes in the painting and some are reading a piece of
paper or are listening to other philosophers that are present in the painting. In essence the middle of
the painting is where the foundation of knowledge began by two important figures. That knowledge
was then acquired by the individuals who are gathered around them. The individuals then passed it
down to the others, who preside in the left and right of the painting, which then continued the flow of
knowledge from one generation of people to the next. This is most likely why the painting has the
word school in it. School is essentially for passing knowledge or encouraging thought, which is what
we humans do. Composition plays a huge part in conveying the message of this particular art

Talent Acquisition Is An Important Aspect Of A Firm s...
Talent acquisition is defined as the strategic approach to identifying, attracting and onboarding top
talent to efficiently and effectively meet dynamic business needs (Erickson, 2012). Talent acquisition
has the unique role of ensuring job applicants not only have the right credentials for the job, but also
have the right mentality for the job. In other words, the person who ultimately will be offered the job
needs to fit within the firm s structure and culture. However, talent acquisition is more than just
dealing with prospective talent. The acquisition team needs to needs to ensure the firm s search for

Having a functioning and efficient talent acquisition team is of vital importance to a firm. In a time
where firms have to make quick decisions in order to remain relevant and profitable, availability of the
right labor does not always keep up with the need. Not having a functioning talent acquisition strategy
can be detrimental. It is essential that talent acquisition be accurate and timely as it is the only function
within HR that can destroy the business and HR (Truitt, 2013). In order for the talent onboarding to be
timely and successful, the search, vetting and hiring of talent will require appropriate acquisition
actions. The selection of tools, technology and outsourcing partners is a key element of a company s
talent acquisition strategy (Erickson, 2012). The process begins when management identifies a need
within the firm. That need and the criteria for what is considered a successful candidate is
communicated to the talent acquisition team. The talent acquisition team must take the needs
expressed by management and translate those needs into a plan. The talent acquisition plan includes
the acquisition team understanding the labor market and understanding the skills and knowledge
management deems necessary for the new hire to be successful in the position. Also part of the plan
should be analyzing the acquisition process. In this task, decisions made and actions taken are studied
in efforts to the process and future decisions as

Essay About The Middle Ages
Since the beginning of the world, there have been a various types of time periods such as Classical
antiquity, Archaic Period, Macedonian Era, Ancient Rome, and more. All the people who lived in
different generations have different lives. Of course, this includes people who lived during the Middle
Ages. Middle Ages, also known as Medieval period, is the period in European history starting from
the collapse of Roman civilization to the period of Renaissance. These people who have lived during

Unlike modern times, transportation systems in the Middle Ages were not diverse. On land, people
usually traveled by riding on horses. Aristocrats usually rode on the wagons, and commoners rode on
horses. People usually did not transport through sea, but when they did, they used ships. Ships were
usually used during the war, or trade between Middle East countries. Military technology in the
Medieval period was discrete from other generations. Because there were knights during the Middle
Ages, they used the swords and arrows to fight. Other than these weapons, they had special kinds of
weapon, biological and psychological weapon. Biological weapons such as dead bodies and dead
animals were used to spread the disease over the enemy camp. Psychological weapons were used to
arouse fear of the knights to the enemy lines. For example, they would make an armor that is several
times larger than the normal size. Then they would put the armor in the scene of victory to show the
enemies. By doing this, rumors would spread throughout the enemy camp and those rumors would
arouse fear of the knights. Agricultural tool was also distinct in the Middle Ages. The plow was
considered to be one of the most important technologies developed especially in the Medieval period.
During this period, the plow was used with multiple oxen teams. By this, farmers were able to plow
the heavier and wetter soils, leading

Air and air pollution is a mixture of solid particles and gases in the air. Air and air pollution can cause
from car emission, chemical, dust, air planes, and pollen. What cause the air to be bad pollution is
factories machines and energy that everyone is using. Air can be fresh and bad air depend on the work

Lizzie Borden Murder
The Murders in Fall River
On August 4, 1892 at 92 Second Street in Fall River Massachusetts, stepmom Abby and father,
Andrew Borden were slaughtered by an axe in their home ( The Trial of Lizzie Borden ). Lizzie s
biological mother died in 1862, and her father Andrew remarried the spinstress, Abby Durfee Gray.
Since it was a stepmother to be murdered, it raised the question as to if Lizzie really liked her
stepmother. Abby s body was in the guest room, murdered an hour before Andrew, who was on a sofa.
Lizzie, their daughter, was first suspected then convicted based on the evidence. A year later she was
pronounced innocent. What really happened will remain a mystery because someone s word on what
happened could easily be altered and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Three days later, on August 9th, Lizzie started to be questioned in the courtroom over police
headquarters. During the first four hours of the examination Lizzie gave confusing and contradicting
information pertaining to where she was and what she was doing. Two days later, on August 11th,
Lizzie was read her rights and arrested by Chief Hillard for the murder of her parents. The following
day Lizzie made a plea of not guilty to the charges against her before being transported by rail car to a
jail located in Taunton, an area located eight miles from Fall River. August 22nd Lizzie was returned
to the Fall River courtroom for her preliminary hearing, after a criminal complaint has been filed by
the prosecutor, next is to determine whether there is enough evidence to require a trial. At the end of
the hearing, Judge Josiah Blaisdell pronounced Lizzie as probably guilty and ordered her to face a
grand jury. From November 15th to the 21st Lizzie faced the grand jury to plead not guilty. It wasn t
until December first, that a testimony was made against Lizzie by a friend of the families. Alex
Russell appeared before the grand jury to make his statement about the blue dress he saw Lizzie burn.
Lizzie responded with the fact that the dress was covered in old paint. The question then is, why was
she burning it the day of the murders? The statement from Russell matched with an earlier testimony
made by Bridget, she claimed Lizzie was wearing a blue dress the morning of the murders. Since both
testimonies matched, it was enough evidence to convince the jury to indict, formally accuse of or
charge with a serious crime, Lizzie for the murder of her parents. On June 5th, 1893 Andrew Jennings
and George Robinson represented the defendant while Knowlton and Thomas Moody argued the case
of the prosecution. Moody opened the case with a two hour long speech while

Loneliness And Alienation In The Painted Door By Sinclair...
Loneliness and alienation can often have a strong effect on people, especially when facing normal
societal challenges. People will act differently and have different reactions if they aren t around others
facing these problems, this is illustrated well by Sinclair Ross in two of his stories. His story The
Painted Door focused on a farmer s wife named Ann. It begins with her husband, John, leaving to help
his father at his father s farm while Ann begs him to stay. He leaves anyway but stops to visit their
neighbour, Steven, and asks him to go visit Ann to keep her company. Out of loneliness and
desperation Ann cheats on John with Steven. The next morning, they find John frozen to death and
Ann sees paint on his palm, revealing John had seen Ann and Steven together and left back into the
cold to meet his demise. Sinclair Ross One s a Heifer focuses on a thirteen year old ... Show more

He strongly hints at it when they talk about her and expressess his distaste, Too many of the kind you

Vickers is not used to having people around, so when this girl stays with him he is unsure how to deal
with her, and he ends up murdering her. He also does everything he can to keep the protagonist out of
the box stall, It s just kind of a harness room now. Up till a year ago I kept a stallion. (Ross 418)
Throughout the story it is strongly hinted that Vickers is keeping the body of the girl in the box stall.
He is very reluctant to let the protagonist see inside and tries to draw the protagonists attention away
from the box stall. Vickers is clearly a character driven by his comfortable loneliness and isolation
from the outside world to murder his companion. Both of these characters were driven to make
drastic, life changing decisions as a result of their loneliness and

Energetic tunes have been composed about the Rani; one of them incorporates these lines
(deciphered): How valiantly like a man battled she,/ The Rani of Jhansi/ On every parapet a firearm
she set/ Raining blaze of hellfire,/ How well like a man battled the Rani of Jhansi/ How valiantly and
well! She is an image of lady masculinity as the line says in her admiration Khoob ladi mardani wo to

Notes On Romeo And Adolescent

The arrest of the bookkeeper should be fairly easy but Ness finds himself in with for reasons. Being a
caring person he is helps a woman struggling to bring her baby up the stairs. While doing this Ness
recognizes one of the gang members, taking out his gun he single handedly defeats all the members of
the gang while at the same time protecting the baby. Ness and Stone walk out the station unharmed
and with the bookkeeper.
Brian de Palma has used a variety of sound techniques to create a feeling of suspense and tension for
the audience. Dialogue, sounds effects, ambient sounds and non diegetic sounds have all been used to
reinforce what the audience see. The content of the station scene is expressed through Ness s dialogue.
He informs the audience of what is happening by what he says to other characters on and off screen.
Sound effects have also used successfully to add realism so the audience can believe that what they re
seeing is actually happening. Non diegetic sounds also played a big part in the station scene. It
changes the mood of the audience from feeling excited to feeling tense and uncomfortable. First there
were drums which made the audience feel Ness s tension as he tried to find the bookkeeper. Mobile
music is then added, creating more tension showing now that Ness

Comparing Emile Durkheim s The Division Of Labor
In comparing Emile Durkheim s The Division of Labor in Society and readings from the The Rules of
Sociological Method to Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann s The Social Construction of Reality in
addition to Harriet Martineaus Morals and Manners, Morals of Slavery, and The Political
Nonexistence of Women, all of these authors investigate people as beings that are fundamentally
social that create the basis for society. Even though their perspectives have similar components when
it comes to fundamentally key ideas, they still tend to take different stances on viewing the individuals
involved in the process from micro and macro perspectives in order to understand the correlation

This author has had a particular focus on women in politics and how slaves were included in this
social structure during this time period making an effort to convey that all men are born equal and free
as her views were very radical during this time. In comparison to Martineau, Emile Durkheim
emphasizes that the division of labor is a key attribute to the social structure of society as the general
population continues to grow, people will naturally become more disciplined in specialized
professions that will ultimately create institutions as all of these specializations will work together to
benefit society. However, Durkheim does agree with Martineau to the extent that power is diffused
throughout society and ultimately belongs to the government. As government holds the ultimate
authority, punishment will be defined as a reaction as to what has violated laws that have been
instituted in order to maintain standards of moral order. Additionally, Berger and Luckmann make it
clear that it is because people are social beings, people create a society the more we interact with one
another as [man s] relationship to the surrounding environment is everywhere...structured by his own
biological constitution that people attach what they know to be the physical world and build structural
concepts that constitute our society. (Berger and Luckmann, 47.) All address to some degree, that the
social structure of society exists because we have instituted some

Jonathan Kozol The Shame Of The Nation Analysis
Award winning writer and public lecturer, Jonathan Kozol wrote an essay that was published in Harper
s Magazine and was also adapted from his book, The Shame of the Nation: The Restoration of
Apartheid Schooling in America. This essay essentially discusses the injustice of the school systems
and how predominately white districts thrive while African American districts are left without basic
needs.
Kozol uses of New York City as an example of the unfair financial inconsistencies towards specific
counties or cities in the state. The author argues, the gross discrepancies in teacher salaries between
the city and its affluent white suburbs have remained persistent (354). He continues his argument
stating that the median salary for teachers in an African American community in 1997 was $43,000
while in suburban white communities the salary was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, at the opposite extreme along the economic spectrum in New York are numerous children
who receive no special opportunities of superb schooling programs simply because they are not as
financially fortunate as their white counterparts (Kozol 354 355). To reason with this iniquitous
reality, Kozol quotes Marian Warner, a novelist who has written several books for children, stating,
There are expensive children and there are cheap children, just as there are expensive women and
cheap women (354). Kozol continues by explaining that governmentally administered degradation in
the value of children in poor communities fundamentally begins before the age of five, which would
be when they would start their years in formal education in public education. In actuality, in begins
during infancy, when a populous amount of children are born into poor districts and are locked out of

An Actor Prepares By Constantin Stanislavski
All I can do is to help you feel what it is. Even to do that requires great patience, for I shall devote our
whole course to it. Or, to be more exact, it will appear by itself after you have studied our whole
system of acting and after you yourselves have made the experiment of initiating, clarifying,
transforming, simple everyday human realities into crystals of artistic truth. Teacher Mr. Tortsov,
teaches his students the fundaments in acting and how to be successful in its art, in Constantin
Stanislavski s eye opening book, An Actor Prepares. Throughout reading his book, I learned three
main lessons: how the outside impression of an actor looks or how the audience perceives them, the
inner motivation and structure of an actor, and lastly, acting is an art and properly portraying a
character through the art form. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An Actor Prepares teaches an actor that everything needs to be justified and motivated. Whether that
be through analyzing the text for overall theme, adaption to responses done by our scene partners or
ensemble, being natural with movements and not mechanical, or working out the overall objective of
the play. Analyzing the text of the play influences the character s motivation. If a character is going
over to another character s house for no reason other than to hang out, then it slows down the pace of
the show down and puts a stop in the energy of the show. Channeling the normal person inside myself,
provides a more relatable character to the audience member. The overall objective of the show
provides a reason or lesson for the whole play. The sooner I, as an actor, understand and determine the
objective, I can better play the character s motivation and drive to what she

The Battle Of Yorktown By William Faulkner
Battle of Yorktown
A Striking Start
You are galloping full speed at full speed like it is the last day of your life, you ride into the city of
Yorktown fiercely, then your rider wants you to go faster, you are galloping faster than you have ever
run, as fast as a speeding bullet. The wind is slapping your face as hard as a hammer, you finally run
into the sea of smoke, muskets, and bayonets. The person riding you violently thrusts his mighty
sword, and swiftly fires his French pistol. Cannonballs fly over you like soaring hawks destroying the
fortifications that may have taken years to build, you are a proud horse in The American
Revolutionary War, and you will never stop galloping for the Patriots even if it kills you.

troops commanded by George Washington and, admiral Francois, Count de Grasse a French naval

headquarters, but on the other side of the James River in Gloucester there were only 1,000 British
troops to protect the fort against 3,000 French, and troops from the continental army. The Patriots set
up a hospital 2 miles southeast from British lines, this is convenient because they didn t have to go a

The British soldiers were cornered because the Continental Army attacked from all sides. The

Society Reflection
After this week s reading and videos I learned many new intriguing perspectives about society. Also,
the video taught me a very important lesson about discrimination. I thought the lesson the teacher
taught was unique and got her point across extremely well. She really put people in the shoes of the
less fortunate that are being discriminated. The readings on the first day I found very interesting
because people are the only ones that affect the rapid changes of society. The weeks readings and
videos relate to each other because the way society changes now is how discrimination on skin colors
started and affected millions of lives that could of even took lives away. The first day readings show
that every decision someone makes has affected the changes in society. For example the hippie
movement a group of people started wearing tie dye colors and listening to their type of music. Over

I would like to have some of his qualities, but I don t, yet. Oogruk is an old, blind, wise man. These
are just a couple of differences between us. I m not old, yet, i m not blind, and i m not wise, yet. These
are all things that Oogruk has but not me. Some other differences are that he is an eskimo, he lives in
government owned houses in a village, and he is a shaman. Some similarities are that we both think
that the old eskimo ways are good, and we both like to see beautiful things. I think that the older
eskimo ways were good, because it seem more interactive, and it seemed like it brought people closer
together. Before Russel goes on his journey Oogruk asks him to bring him out to the frozen ocean and
that is something I would want to see in

Baroque Research Paper
Baroque always thought to be an art period through 1600 to 1750 and the Baroque art was the
prevalent artistic style in that period. The art style was originated from Italy and related to counter
reformation. In Baroque period, artists were embraced elaborate ornamentation, dynamic, spectacular
effect, which broke through the calm, static feeling of classical art since Renaissance art period. Also,
it is an art style that absorbed lots of elements from theater, literature, and music and has a strong
relationship to the religious, which held the dominant position through the whole period. For the
Baroque paintings, instead of depicting people s lifestyle, most of them were depicting the Counter
Reformation. Figures poses in the paintings are more precise and more like opera stage poses.
Moreover, Baroque paintings always exaggerated lighting and had intense emotions. During Baroque
period, group figures are one of the most importances for the sculptures and those sculptures focused
on the dynamic movement to convey human s energy. Another important thing is that the sculptures in
this period have multiple ideal viewing angles. Besides the paintings and sculptures, Baroque style
profoundly influenced the architecture at that time. The architectures mainly focused on the bold of ...

architects are just small part of the Baroque art. The soul of it had spread all over the world and
permeated to every aspect of people s daily life at that time era. Even though the upsurge of Baroque
art had already faded, it is still one of the most glorious pages during through the whole

Chinese Cinderella Yen Mah
Some people may think that Chinese Cinderella is very depressing, but it is inspirational. The author
who wrote this lived this, and she may have been beaten, but she worked hard enough to go to college
and get a better life for herself. Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah, is a moving story about a girl
who works hard in school to get a better life. She is loyal to her Aunt Baba, accepts that she is
unappreciated, but still tries in her school work to try and impress her father, and gets back up every
time she is abused. Adeline accepts that she is unloved, but still tries hard in her school work to
impress her father. When Adeline is sent to Tianjin, she has to learn English so she is put in the
younger class because it is off of the student s ability to speak English. She then worked really hard to
catch up to her level. Towards the end of the book, Adeline wanted to go to college really badly So she
continually wrote to Father and Niang asking if she could go. Then one day father called her into the
holy of holies and told her she was allowed to attend college in England with Third brother because

taking her slaps. I also wonder how she had the strength to walk to school everyday because I would

Issues With The Second Wave Of Feminism
Alice lived during a time when the second wave of feminism was going on. Alice was very affected by
this and as she was slowly gaining freedom, she was losing herself. Alice along with every other
woman in this time period, dealt with some very unfair situations and circumstances. One of the main
issues with the second wave of feminism was abortions, women could not get them at some point. It
was not up to them if they wanted to get an abortion, rather up to the government. If anyone did end
up getting pregnant, they would either have to live with having a baby, even if they weren t ready, or
they had to get an abortion on the side, which was not always said to be safe. So, for example, if Alice
ended up getting pregnant, she would have no

How Writing Affects Your Life
No matter how much you enjoy or do not enjoy reading and writing we all have a story how it has
impacted out life. Literacy has a big impact on us all, if we didn t have it we would be lost. We
wouldn t be able to text our friends and family to stay in touch. We wouldn t have anything to do with
social media. We would lose entertainment. Those are just the basics of why reading and writing has a
big impact on our lives. Majority people have a deeper more meaningful experience with reading
and/or writing. I personally have never been the best at writing because I have issues with grammar. I
have never enjoyed reading because I am a very slow reader and have a hard time getting into books.
But I too have a reason to love reading and writing. One reason I began to enjoy ... Show more content

I am a very slow reader and always have been. In grade school, I would try and hide when doing the
popcorn game for reading something out loud. Reading out loud was one of my biggest fears because
at recess all the girls would bad talk the kids that took forever to read, and I did not want to be one
they talked about. The only reason I have a hard time with writing is because I lack knowledge in
proper grammar and spelling. I have always been known for the worst speller. Classmates of mine
from grade school had jokes about how my texts were always a brain challenge trying to figure out
what I was spelling! Talk about embarrassing. I don t just struggle with grammar when writing, I get
caught having bad grammar while talking as well. While I was on the dance team, the head coach was
always correcting me. The big one I messed up the most was the use of them and those and so now I
try to use them properly around everyone. I realize how uneducated I sound when I talk sometimes
and that is why I am wanting to learn, that is why I want to be a teach, I want to help every student be
successful no matter how good/bad their grades are in grade

Characteristics Of 20th Century Literature
Before the 20th Century, literature was pretty straightforward; the narrators were reliable, the
timelines were linear, and the perspective was clear, but then somebody got the idea to mix it up. This
is how we got books such as The Great Gatsby and one of our class texts, Orlando. For some, this was
a startling and uncomfortable transition from what used to be considered the, normal format which
was very up front in terms of structure and voice. Others found it to be more exciting and, while it was
still weird and unsettling for those people, it forced people to think more about what the books were
trying to communicate, instead of just being handed the message; they had to work for it. This has
become one of the leading reasons that societies are encouraged to read; if you read a book that forces
you to think, your mind becomes stronger and this promotes an increase in intelligence and creativity.
One of the main characteristics of 20th Century Literature is fragmented structure, meaning that the
story was not always in chronological order and that the story was sometimes interrupted by the
characters thoughts or interactions, therefore cutting off the narrative in favor of a new line of thought.
Next there is fragmented perspective, which is much different from fragmented structure in the way
that, instead of scrambling the story, the reliability of the
information is being skewed. Fragmented perspective can also be labelled as being an unreliable
narrator, which at

The Effects Of Facebook On Romantic Relationships
The Adverse Effects of Facebook on Romantic Relationships
Around the world people are updating their statuses on Facebook, double tapping pictures on
Instagram, tweeting, snapping, following, blogging, creeping, and commenting on posts. People do
these things so often that they have become second nature. More often than not, if you ask any random
person on the street if they have a form of social media they will say yes and will have at least one
type, if not more. As social media has grown, the habits that come with it have been incorporated into
many people s everyday lives . However, many people fail to think about how the things they do
everyday on their social media are affecting their relationship with their romantic partner. According
to one study done by Fox and Warber, Facebook could lead to negative effects, such as drama and
jealousy, on romantic relationships (Fox and Warber 5 6). Another article by Seidman and Robertson
supported this claim, agreeing that Facebook can lead to conflict and confusion, jealousy and anxiety,
less time spent with a partner, and deteriorating relationships with others (Seidman and Robertson).
This has been a controversial issue since the dawn of social media; however, Facebook has definitely
been seen to have negative effects on relationships by giving people more access to monitor others,
increasing jealousy and anxiety in relationships, and by simply taking away time from a relationship.
Since the beginning of mankind, humans

Defining Class And Social Structure Of Social Class
Defining Class is hard to do as there are many different approaches to defining class one can take. We
can look at class as a subjective location, how do people, individually and collectively, locate
themselves and others within a social structure of inequality? Or we could define class as the
relational explanation of economic life chance What explains inequalities in economically defined life
chances and material standards of living of individuals and families? The challenging nature of class
in contemporary society comes from the fact that there has never been an academic consensus the
definition of class (due to the fact that class in its very nature is an abstract and subjective term).
However, this essay will argue that class is an amalgamation of how individuals and the collective
locate themselves, and the relational explanation of economic life chance as well as policy and
politics. This is done using Weberian and Marxian definitions of social class and exploring the role of
power and power relations in creating a class society. Exploring the similarities as well as differences
between the definitions of class presented by Karl Marx and Max Weber; in order to inform the
approach this essay will be taking in discussing whether or not ours is a class society.
By our society this essay will be referring to modern western society, specifically focusing on Great
Britain. Looking at the contemporary examples of class using examples from politics and policy, the

The Tale Of Three Brothers
Fairy tales have an enormous impact on the world we live in. They are used as tools to teach children
life lessons in such a way that doesn t scare them, but does prepare them for the harsh realities of the
world. We have many such examples in our own lives, it seems only natural that the wizarding world
would have their own. One interesting thing about wizarding fairy tales is that unlike their muggle
counterparts, magic is a good force. While good magic does exist in muggle fairy tales, for instance
Cinderella s godmother, more often than not it is portrayed as the evil weapon in the story. The Tale of
Three Brothers is a story where Death is a character. He greets three brothers who have used their
knowledge in the magical arts to cheat him. Instead of killing them on the spot, he grants them each a
gift. The eldest chooses an unbeatable wand, the middle plots to humiliate death further by asking for
a stone that can raise the dead, while the youngest asks for a cloak that will shield its wearer from
being followed by Death. The three brothers soon part ways and choose their own paths, and
ultimately their deaths. The first is murdered after he boasts loudly about being unbeatable, the second
kills himself after finding that the stone cannot truly bring anyone back, but the third lives a long and
full life and greets death as an old friend (Rowling, 93). In The Four Accomplished Brothers, a fairy
tale by the brothers Grimm, four brothers leave the house to make

The Evolution Of Photography, By Joseph Nicephone Niepce
SNAP! SNAP! You ve just caught the perfect picture of your friend running on the beach, your dog
stealing your favourite shoe, or your little brother with his hands deep in the cookie jar. Now pause
and think about the future and how many times you would laugh showing these pictures to friends or
family. Now rewind a couple of hundred years and imagine a world without photographs to capture
these precious memories. As much as photography is used on day to day bases, has the concept truly
crossed your mind as to how it came about? Personally, the evolution of photography has always been
intriguing process difficult and fascinating at the same time for me to understand. The first photograph
was taken in 1826, by Joseph Nicéphone Niépce. The picture was taken from a window with a view at
the Le Gras with a camera obscure. Unfortunately in the early years there had to be so many problems
with photography, with long exposure times and working on the image. So as we know of the when
photography first came about was in the year Fast forward 13 years later to 1839, when William
Henry Fox Talbot presented his results from negative and positive processing to the Royal Institution
in London, calling the photogenic drawing ... Photography. Throughout the years photographs have
been used for a variety of things from a personal level to business (promotional and commercial). But
just how important is photography when the options are limitless today, could you honestly image a

Analysis Of No More Miss America
Major Claim: The objectification and currency of a women s body is the pivotal focus for the readings
presented in class. It is discussed in the readings about how women are only considered for their
looks, and not their personal depth or knowledge. Additionally, intersectionality is observed and how
these objectifications effect marginalized groups. Finally, the term of enlightened sexism is introduced
and how this concept is dangerous to and reverses feminism. Significance: In regards to the
significance of these claims, the examination of how women are objectified spans a wide spectrum
from appearance to persona. To hone in on this, the reading No More Miss America provides clear
evidence as to why beauty pageants are a negative influence

  • 3. Rafaello Sanzio Da Urbino A picture is worth a thousand words, a phrase many I am sure have heard. Art can symbolize limitless possibilities because many people perceive things differently. Art can form differing opinions and produce different feelings for people. Any piece of art is able to do this, just like Raphael s painting, named the School of Athens. Rafaello Sanzio da Urbino, or Raphael, is regarded as the leading artistic figure of Italian High Renaissance classicism (Biography.com Editors). He is known for many paintings, one which is widely known, is the School of Athens. The School of Athens is painted in the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City(TotallyHistory). In the School of Athens, the background with the blue sky and the entrance make the two philosophers in the painting seem like godly, or powerful figures who possess knowledge of the world; they seem like they have descended from the heavens. The painting makes it seem the two philosophers are entering the church like place to share the knowledge that they carry with them. The people around them are extracting the knowledge and passing it down to others on the left and right side of the painting; some of the other individuals are taking notes in the painting and some are reading a piece of paper or are listening to other philosophers that are present in the painting. In essence the middle of the painting is where the foundation of knowledge began by two important figures. That knowledge was then acquired by the individuals who are gathered around them. The individuals then passed it down to the others, who preside in the left and right of the painting, which then continued the flow of knowledge from one generation of people to the next. This is most likely why the painting has the word school in it. School is essentially for passing knowledge or encouraging thought, which is what we humans do. It is essential that talent acquisition be accurate and timely as it is the only function within HR that can destroy the business and HR (Truitt, 2013). In order for the talent onboarding to be timely and successful, the search, vetting and hiring of talent will require appropriate acquisition actions. The selection of tools, technology and outsourcing partners is a key element of a company s talent acquisition strategy (Erickson, 2012). The process begins when management identifies a need within the firm. That need and the criteria for what is considered a successful candidate is communicated to the talent acquisition team. The talent acquisition team must take the needs expressed by management and translate those needs into a plan. The talent acquisition plan includes the acquisition team understanding the labor market and understanding the skills and knowledge management deems necessary for the new hire to be successful in the position. Alex Russell appeared before the grand jury to make his statement about the blue dress he saw Lizzie burn. Lizzie responded with the fact that the dress was covered in old paint. The question then is, why was she burning it the day of the murders? The statement from Russell matched with an earlier testimony made by Bridget, she claimed Lizzie was wearing a blue dress the morning of the murders. People will act differently and have different reactions if they aren t around others facing these problems, this is illustrated well by Sinclair Ross in two of his stories. His story The Painted Door focused on a farmer s wife named Ann. It begins with her husband, John, leaving to help his father at his father s farm while Ann begs him to stay. He leaves anyway but stops to visit their neighbour, Steven, and asks him to go visit Ann to keep her company. Out of loneliness and desperation Ann cheats on John with Steven. This author has had a particular focus on women in politics and how slaves were included in this social structure during this time period making an effort to convey that all men are born equal and free as her views were very radical during this time. In comparison to Martineau, Emile Durkheim emphasizes that the division of labor is a key attribute to the social structure of society as the general population continues to grow, people will naturally become more disciplined in specialized professions that will ultimately create institutions as all of these specializations will work together to benefit society. However, Durkheim does agree with Martineau to the extent that power is diffused throughout society and ultimately belongs to the government. As government holds the ultimate authority, punishment will be defined as a reaction as to what has violated laws that have been instituted in order to maintain standards of moral order. Additionally, Berger and Luckmann make it clear that it is because people are social beings, people create a society the more we interact with one another as [man s] relationship to the surrounding environment is everywhere...structured by his own biological constitution that people attach what they know to be the physical world and build structural concepts that constitute our society. Kozol uses of New York City as an example of the unfair financial inconsistencies towards specific counties or cities in the state. The author argues, the gross discrepancies in teacher salaries between the city and its affluent white suburbs have remained persistent (354). Teacher Mr. Tortsov, teaches his students the fundaments in acting and how to be successful in its art, in Constantin Stanislavski s eye opening book, An Actor Prepares. Throughout reading his book, I learned three main lessons: how the outside impression of an actor looks or how the audience perceives them, the inner motivation and structure of an actor, and lastly, acting is an art and properly portraying a character through the art form. ... Whether that be through analyzing the text for overall theme, adaption to responses done by our scene partners or ensemble, being natural with movements and not mechanical, or working out the overall objective of the play. Analyzing the text of the play influences the character s motivation. If a character is going over to another character s house for no reason other than to hang out, then it slows down the pace of the show down and puts a stop in the energy of the show. Channeling the normal person inside myself, provides a more relatable character to the audience member. The overall objective of the show provides a reason or lesson for the whole play. • 20. Society Reflection After this week s reading and videos I learned many new intriguing perspectives about society. Also, the video taught me a very important lesson about discrimination. I thought the lesson the teacher taught was unique and got her point across extremely well. She really put people in the shoes of the less fortunate that are being discriminated. The readings on the first day I found very interesting because people are the only ones that affect the rapid changes of society. The weeks readings and videos relate to each other because the way society changes now is how discrimination on skin colors started and affected millions of lives that could of even took lives away. The first day readings show that every decision someone makes has affected the changes in society. For example the hippie movement a group of people started wearing tie dye colors and listening to their type of music. Over time it caught on and their society significantly changed. The video has some points about this too. The president s decision to kick the indians out of their taught other americans that they re worthless and they have the power to discriminate against them with no punishment. Day 2 readings said that we do things or pay people money even if they don t work all the time. The art style was originated from Italy and related to counter reformation. In Baroque period, artists were embraced elaborate ornamentation, dynamic, spectacular effect, which broke through the calm, static feeling of classical art since Renaissance art period. Also, it is an art style that absorbed lots of elements from theater, literature, and music and has a strong relationship to the religious, which held the dominant position through the whole period. For the Baroque paintings, instead of depicting people s lifestyle, most of them were depicting the Counter Reformation. Figures poses in the paintings are more precise and more like opera stage poses. Moreover, Baroque paintings always exaggerated lighting and had intense emotions. During Baroque period, group figures are one of the most importances for the sculptures and those sculptures focused on the dynamic movement to convey human s energy. • 27. Characteristics Of 20th Century Literature Before the 20th Century, literature was pretty straightforward; the narrators were reliable, the timelines were linear, and the perspective was clear, but then somebody got the idea to mix it up. This is how we got books such as The Great Gatsby and one of our class texts, Orlando. For some, this was a startling and uncomfortable transition from what used to be considered the, normal format which was very up front in terms of structure and voice. Others found it to be more exciting and, while it was still weird and unsettling for those people, it forced people to think more about what the books were trying to communicate, instead of just being handed the message; they had to work for it. This has become one of the leading reasons that societies are encouraged to read; if you read a book that forces you to think, your mind becomes stronger and this promotes an increase in intelligence and creativity. One of the main characteristics of 20th Century Literature is fragmented structure, meaning that the story was not always in chronological order and that the story was sometimes interrupted by the characters thoughts or interactions, therefore cutting off the narrative in favor of a new line of thought. Next there is fragmented perspective, which is much different from fragmented structure in the way that, instead of scrambling the story, the reliability of the information is being skewed. Fragmented perspective can also be labelled as being an unreliable narrator, which at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Effects Of Facebook On Romantic Relationships The Adverse Effects of Facebook on Romantic Relationships Around the world people are updating their statuses on Facebook, double tapping pictures on Instagram, tweeting, snapping, following, blogging, creeping, and commenting on posts. People do these things so often that they have become second nature. More often than not, if you ask any random person on the street if they have a form of social media they will say yes and will have at least one type, if not more. As social media has grown, the habits that come with it have been incorporated into many people s everyday lives . However, many people fail to think about how the things they do everyday on their social media are affecting their relationship with their romantic partner. According to one study done by Fox and Warber, Facebook could lead to negative effects, such as drama and jealousy, on romantic relationships (Fox and Warber 5 6). Another article by Seidman and Robertson supported this claim, agreeing that Facebook can lead to conflict and confusion, jealousy and anxiety, less time spent with a partner, and deteriorating relationships with others (Seidman and Robertson). This has been a controversial issue since the dawn of social media; however, Facebook has definitely been seen to have negative effects on relationships by giving people more access to monitor others, increasing jealousy and anxiety in relationships, and by simply taking away time from a relationship. • 29. Defining Class And Social Structure Of Social Class Defining Class is hard to do as there are many different approaches to defining class one can take. We can look at class as a subjective location, how do people, individually and collectively, locate themselves and others within a social structure of inequality? Or we could define class as the relational explanation of economic life chance What explains inequalities in economically defined life chances and material standards of living of individuals and families? The challenging nature of class in contemporary society comes from the fact that there has never been an academic consensus the definition of class (due to the fact that class in its very nature is an abstract and subjective term). However, this essay will argue that class is an amalgamation of how individuals and the collective locate themselves, and the relational explanation of economic life chance as well as policy and politics. This is done using Weberian and Marxian definitions of social class and exploring the role of power and power relations in creating a class society. Exploring the similarities as well as differences between the definitions of class presented by Karl Marx and Max Weber; in order to inform the approach this essay will be taking in discussing whether or not ours is a class society. They are used as tools to teach children life lessons in such a way that doesn t scare them, but does prepare them for the harsh realities of the world. We have many such examples in our own lives, it seems only natural that the wizarding world would have their own. One interesting thing about wizarding fairy tales is that unlike their muggle counterparts, magic is a good force. While good magic does exist in muggle fairy tales, for instance Cinderella s godmother, more often than not it is portrayed as the evil weapon in the story. The Tale of Three Brothers is a story where Death is a character. He greets three brothers who have used their knowledge in the magical arts to cheat him. Instead of killing them on the spot, he grants them each a gift. The eldest chooses an unbeatable wand, the middle plots to humiliate death further by asking for a stone that can raise the dead, while the youngest asks for a cloak that will shield its wearer from being followed by Death. The three brothers soon part ways and choose their own paths, and ultimately their deaths. The first is murdered after he boasts loudly about being unbeatable, the second kills himself after finding that the stone cannot truly bring anyone back, but the third lives a long and full life and greets death as an old friend (Rowling, 93).
