Thyroid And Menopause
Thyroid and Menopause
For many women during the onset of menopause, the symptoms are typically insomnia, mood
swings, depression and fatigue. However, these symptoms are also the hallmark of a thyroid
disorder, and because the symptoms are so similar, many women who think they are just
experiencing menopause may not seek medical advice about the possibility of a thyroid disorder. To
further complicate the issue, thyroid disorders can be difficult to diagnose. What becomes
important is knowing the differences between a dysfunctional thyroid and menopause.
Is It Thyroid Disease or Menopause?

Aside from the fact that estrogen produces a stronger overall immune response, especially as it
relates to antibody response in women, other factors contributing to thyroid disease include age,
stress, nutritional choices, and medications. Estrogen levels, and especially estrogen withdrawal
during menopause, impacts autoimmunity in women. An autoimmune thyroid imbalance occurs
when your own cells attack the thyroid gland and because autoimmunity develops more with
ageing, older postmenopausal women are at a higher risk for developing

To Kill A Mockingbird Social Class Analysis
A Need For Change In western culture, people are treated differently based on resources, family
heritage, and now personal achievements. Social classing and the consequences of it have been
prevalent in societies since ancient times. Although it has been called by different names such
as caste, stratification, Bourgeoisie vs. Aristocrats, and Plebeians vs. Patricians, social
inequality remains. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee paints a picture of the distinct type of
social classing that existed in a small Alabama town in the early 1900s. Based on skin color,
background, and wealth, people are considered to be upper, middle, or lower class. Examples of
social classing appear in the book through the Ewells reputation, through Aunt Alexandra s views
of other families, and during Scout s first day at school. The Ewells are considered poor white
trash. Notorious for laziness and living off of the government s money, they do not contribute to
society. Every town the size of Maycomb had families like the Ewells. No economic fluctuations
changed their status people like the Ewells lived as guests of the county in prosperity as well as
in the depths of depression. (227). People in Maycomb avoid the Ewells because of their economic

untrue. Offensive in some cases, this stereotyping can hurt reputations and put families at a social
disadvantage. Aunt Alexandra finds streaks in every family in Maycomb, and puts the families in

Analysis: Debt to GDP ratio United States compared to Germany
United States Debt to GDP ratio In the last year the United States has painfully reached the net
public debt to GDP ratio of 100 percent. This would be the federal government s accumulated
debt that is equal or has actually surpassed the United States Gross Domestic Product in 2010.
After the debt ceiling limit was passed, the Treasury borrowed $238 billion in 2010. This brought
public debt to $14.58 trillion dollars, slightly higher than the United States GDP in 2010, which
was $14.54 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The analysis of Germany, past their stated GDP and their stated debt to GDP ratio is really a
study of the EU/ECB themselves to determine the size and the liabilities that are born by their
largest economic member so that we can fully assess the financial condition of Germany.
Historically, from 1995 until 2011, Germany Government Debt to GDP averaged 65.3 Percent
reaching an all time high of 83.0 Percent in December of 2010 and a record low of 55.6 Percent
in December of 1995. A chart with historical data for Germany Government Debt to GDP is on
page 5. When compared to the United States, Germany by far has a lower debt to GDP ratio.
One reason alone is that Germany is only the size of Oregon, therefore, the population is
nowhere near that of the United States. Germany which has the third largest economy in the
world, currently owes around 65% of their GDP, whereas the United States is at 100 percent. Some
facts why the United States has a higher Debt to GDP ratio are: public debt as percent of GDP the
U.S. has 9.4% larger gross debt as expressed in % of GDP, Government Surplus/Deficit as percent
of GDP USA has 5.1percent greater deficit as expressed in percent of GDP, GDP Growth Rate
USA GDP is growing 0.7percent more over a 10 year period and GDP by Sector the U.S. has a
slightly more industry based economy

Role Of Female Nature In Frankenstein
In the novel Frankenstein, the author Mary Shelley reinforced the role of female nature in a book
that is predominantly male oriented. The female character is an underlying feature throughout the
whole novel. For example, when Victor Frankenstein created his Monster from dead body parts, he
disregarded the laws of femalereproduction. Both Anne K. Mellor and Jonathon Bate argue that
Victor defiled the feminine naturewhen he created his Monster from unnatural means. Mellor
argued in her essay, Possessing Nature: The Female in Frankenstein, that Victor eliminated the
necessity to have females at all (355). There will not be a need for females if new beings are
created in a laboratory. The disruption of mother nature is one of the novel s original sins (479).
In Bate s essay, Frankenstein and the State of Nature, he argued that Victor Frankenstein broke the
balance between female principles of maternity and mother nature (477). Frankenstein broke
nature and undermined the role of females. The argument of Mellor was more persuasive than
the discussion of Bate because she was able to provide more evidence that Victor Frankenstein
dishonored the role of female nature. In Mary Shelley s novel, nature plays a vital role in the
development of the plot. Nature is considered a female part because Mother Nature is the
collective personification of life. Nature is life bearing and nurturing, as females are to their
offspring. In spite of nature being feminine, Victor

Rhetorical Analysis Of Renewal
Pagans are addressed directly once again and summoned to join the banquet of Christ who calls
them back to light. The language of renewal is noteworthy here, especially because it
presupposes the building up and restoration of what is already there. Pagans maintain a sense of
dignity and are not equated with the demonic. The image of an invitation to a banquet where food
of salvation and a cup of immortality is offered is also different from the images of remedying
diseased patients through cautery and knife. Where the medical analogy conjures a paternalistic
image of forcing out evil from within someone by any means necessay, the invitation to a banquet
images a welcoming of the other to come into one s own space. The image is... Show more content

Reject at last such ruinous madness. Rather than being worshipped as if it were a god, which robs it
of its dignity, the sun prefers to live out its purpose as part of the created order, simply to usher in
the day. Firmicus then has the sun close the speech to the pagans with something like an altar call:
I frankly show myself as just what I am, and I want you to understand of me nothing else but
what you see. This is what pleases God, this is what He gladly welcomes, this is what leads you
human beings to the way of salvation: that you should cast aside your errors and absorb the grace
of God in simplicity and faith.
In the sun s speech against its own worship, conversion is rendered as leaving behind false
worship and absorbing God s grace in faith. Implicit is an affirmation of the essential humanity of
pagans, who are called to the way of salvation. We could say that in casting aside their errors
pagans participate in God s exorcism. In addition, the exorcizing of errors is figured as the
precondition to conversion; it is not identical with conversion itself. The difference between
exorcism as the precondition of conversion and exorcism as conversion is that the former grants
agency and dignity to the pagan as human, while the latter over identifies the pagan as the demonic.
By separating exorcism from conversion, this theology leaves room for a positive account of
conversion as a free engagement between

The Wireless Channel Is Different And Much More...
The wireless channel is different and much more unpredictable than the wire line channel because
of factors such as multipath and shadow fading, Doppler shift, and time dispersion or delay spread.
These factors are all related to variability introduced by mobility of the user and the wide range of
environmental conditions that are encountered as a result.
(i) Multipath Delay Spread
The multipath delay spread is the time dispersion characteristic of the channel. Each multipath
component is typically associated with different time delay and attenuation. The shortest of which
is the LOS path. The root mean square delay spread in multipath delay is denoted by П„_d and the
maximum spread in frequency due to Doppler shift, f_m.
(ii)Coherence Bandwidth
The coherence bandwidth, is a range of frequencies over which two frequency components have a
strong potential for amplitude correlation, and is used to define whether the channel fading is flat or
frequency selective.
(iii)Coherence Time
The coherence time, T_c describes the expected time duration over which the impulse response of
the channel stays relatively invariant or correlated. The coherence time is approximately inversely
proportional to Doppler spread (Sklar, 1997).
(iv)Admissions Control
A probabilistic admissions control protocol was employed to ensure sufficient transmission time is
reserved to accommodate an estimated number of retransmissions. The transmission time reserved
for retransmissions will vary

The Development Of Dynamic Characterization In Anthem By...
Evolution is a development of something that gradually changes them from one simple item into a
more developed, complex form. Everything in life changes; change is constant and inevitable. One,
who evolves, chooses to do it for better or for worse. In literature, a character s evolution is seen
through a term called dynamic characterization. Dynamic Characterization is clearly visible in the
novel Anthem by Ayn Rand
. In this dystopian fiction book, mankind has entered a period of
darkness regarding the government and society; a society where your job, mating partner, and
mindset has been chosen for you, and a government where individuality is forbidden. Living
amongst this dark period in time is Equality 7 2521. In Anthem, Equality is a dynamic character
through his important character traits. More specifically, Equality finds starting a movement,
using we to I , and finally finds individuality which creates his round character traits. One of the
most riveting moments in this novel, was discovery made by Equality. This society takes place in
an unknown date far in the future, where an individual was raised to call themselves we in honor
of their brothers in society. Any first person pronoun was unknown to this society because it was
seen as selfish to have an ego. Equality however, was different from the rest of his brothers. He
was the pariah in a crowd, both literally and mentally. As a six feet tall individual that was much
stronger than the rest, Equality loved

Those women needed only to become better adjusted to who and what they were. Friedan,
however, was no ordinary housewife. Before starting her family, she had worked as a newspaper
reporter; even after her children came, she wrote regularly for the major women s magazines.
By 1957 she was fed up with the endless stories about breast feeding, the preparation of gourmet
chip dips, and similar domestic fare that was the staple of Redbook , McCall s , and Ladies
Home Journal . She had noticed many women like herself who worked outside the home and felt
guilty because their jobs threatened their husbands roles as providers or took time away from
their children. Thus Friedan began to wonder not only about herself as a woman, a wife, and a
mother, but also about the role society had shaped women to play. The results of the Smith
questionnaire engaged Friedan s reportorial instincts. She sensed she was onto a story bigger than
anything she had ever written. But when she circulated an article describing the plight so many
women were experiencing, the male editors at the women s magazines turned it down flat. It
couldn t be true, they insisted; women could not possibly feel as guilty or discontented as Friedan
claimed. The problem must be hers. Betty has gone off her rocker, an editor at Redbook told her
agent. She has always done a good job for us, but this time only the most neurotic housewife could

Why people believe in ghosts.
Lying in bed in the middle of the night while sleep eludes me, a noise breaks through the silence.
Oh my God! What was that!? Maybe it was just my imagination, or maybe it was just the house
settling. There it is again! I must be hearing things. I get cold and my body starts to shiver
uncontrollably. I peek to where the sound comes from and I could swear I see something through
the dark room; it appears even darker than the surrounding area. Oh my! I think it just moved. My
breathing becomes labored and I pull the covers over my head, trying to calm myself down while
making my brain work through what just happened. Was I dreaming? Or did I just see a ghost?

The belief in Doppelgangers and poltergeist has also crossed the ocean over to the U.S. Many
people still report poltergeist activity in their homes.
Another example of a cultures belief in ghosts is Ireland s and Scotland s (also known as the
Celt s) belief in Samhain or All Hallow s Eve. Samhain is a festival that is celebrated from
October 31st to November 2nd. Samhain is a time of the year that celebrates the last harvest
before the winter comes, and is dedicated to the Lord of the Dead (Guiley 19). The Celt s believe
that the dead will come out of their final resting place and mess with the crops. Also, it is
believed that communication with the dead is easier during Samhain. It is said that the veil that
separates the living from the dead is at its thinnest during this time. The Lord of the Dead holds
a sentencing of spirits, where if they were good they can exist in the form of a human, and if
they were bad, the form of an animal. Offerings of food and drink are made to the Lord of the
Dead so he would not be so severe in his sentencing. Many Celt s would dress up on Samhain to
confuse the spirits that were roaming around so they wouldn t stop, but continue to pass them by
(Guiley 19). This festival is still celebrated today as Halloween. Currently, Americans hold by
some of the old traditions by dressing up and making offerings by handing out candy. Many Celt s
still hold beliefs in the old ways. Celt s also believe in what is

Compare And Contrast The Book Of Hours
A book of hours was a Christian pray book, most popular in the 15th century. Books of hours
were the most common form of illuminated manuscripts seen coming out of the medieval
period. They were not for monks or university libraries but for ordinary people. They are small
and usually prettily decorated books. They were intended to be held in the hand and admired for
their delicate illumination rather than be put on a library shelf. Books of Hours were commonly
found in medieval households and used as a way to teach literary skills and religion. Each book of

expense of our environmental resources our water, our land, and our ecosystems. Over the past few

The clean drinking water supplied to millions of people and wildlife species are at serious risk. The
Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection recently fined a drilling company after
methane gas leaked from a drilling operation and seeped into nearby residential wells ( Marcellus
Shale ). This is not a common occurrence; the problem of methane gas migrating into ground water
is a very serious problem. You can not drink water, shower or wash clothes with water that has been
contaminated with methane. There is documented proof, including video that actually shows water
from a kitchen faucet being ignited into flames with a lighter, the water containing enough methane
gas to become flammable. Property owners that sold land rights to gas companies are now second
guessing their decisions and suffering the dilemma of tainted ground water and well water.
Therefore, developing the Marcellus Shale formation requires very large amounts of fresh water
and fluid disposal. Recent inspections by the state have uncovered violations that threaten
Pennsylvania water resources and its environment. Violations include poorly constructed and
dangerous water retention ponds, inadequate erosion and sediment controls, improper waste and
fluid disposal and also improper and unregistered withdrawals of water from streams. Meanwhile,

Solidarity And Solidarity
Love and Solidarity Solidarity means a feeling of unity between people who have the same
interests, goals, etc. ( Human Solidarity and Love , Web 22/02/2017). In a broader and more
inclusive sense, solidarity is when people consider themselves as one family irrespective of
national, racial, ethnic, economic, social and ideological differences; it is when people see
themselves as brothers and sisters keepers ( USCCB Catholic Social Teaching, Web 21/02/2017).
Mechmann stresses the social nature of the humanpersonthus: It is an inherent characteristic of the
human person to be in relation to others; human beings are not only social in preference and

There is a bond and equality between all persons, because all are created in the image of God ,
and because Jesus founded a new brotherly community (GS 32). In the same vein, solidarity has
a moral sense in that the bond unites all human persons in the basis of common dignity,
fundamental equality, and rights. It also has a sense of protection. Hence, solidarity could be
used as a resistance to insensitive government to achieve the required and honourable goal.
Social and distributive justice can be achieved through solidarity. There are then some obvious
links between solidarity and practical solutions in society. In solidarity, one cannot find rest while
others find no rest. It is a matter of commitment to the lots of others. The concrete experience is
that one must be involved in the lot of those who are affected. McKenna has a similar view with
the above fact when he says, Charity in truth builds community and brings all people together
without imposing barriers (31). The principle of solidarity helps to see the other whether a person,
people, or nation not just as some kind of instrument but also as a neighbour (64). The United
States Conference of Catholic Bishops also declared that greater attention must be given to the
needs of the poor, the weak, and the vulnerable in a debate often dominated by more powerful
interests ( USCCB Catholic Social Teaching , Web 21/02/2017). The bishops further emphasise that:

Charles Coulomb
Charles Augustin de Coulomb was a French physicist. He was born on June 14, 1736 in France
in the town of Angouleme. He was born and raised in a small home near France de Revone for 7
years until he started going to school. His parents were Henry Coulomb and Catherine Bajet. His
father was a lawyer and his mother came from well known and well established aristocratic families
in France. Throughout his life, he studied the fields of philosophy, literature, language, botany,
chemistry, astronomy, and mathematics. The thing that he is most known for is developing
Coulomb s law, which described the electrostatic forces of attraction and repulsion. His law would
serve to be very essential to the development of the theory of electromagnetism. The impact that his
work had would go on to leave a legacy behind in the field of electromagnetism, geotechnical
engineering, and friction for centuries to come. Unfortunately, he would later on in life fall ill with
a serious, life threatening fever and would die on August 23, 1806 at 70 years old. (1)
Though he studied many fields throughout his career, the fields that he were known best for were
the fields of electromagnetism, electricity, and friction. Coulomb was best known for developing
Coulomb s law in 1784, which described how charges will either attract or repel each other.
Coulomb s law states that the magnitude of the electrostatic force of interaction between two point

Importance Of Psychological Theories In Five BellsAndFive...
The crossing of boundaries is always psychologically challenging and confronting for an individual.
What do you think?
The crossing of boundaries is psychologically challenging and confronting as it can require an
individual to accept events the way that they occurred and make attempts to move on, which can
be difficult when it involves a traumatic situation. The psychological strain of crossing boundaries
is represented through the texts of Five Bells, by Gail Jones, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and
the graphical novel Maus.
The crossing of a boundary can take a large toll on an individual, particularly when they are not
able to cross it. One type of boundary that is particularly challenging for an individual to cross is
that of their past and their current self. To find self forgiveness, an individual needs to be able to
cross the boundary out of their memories of the past and move forward with their life. In the
novel Five Bells, the character James struggles with his past immensely. He feels regret at how he
left Ellie and their relationship, and struggles to cross that boundary by meeting with her. James
psychological struggle is shown during his meeting with Ellie as he thinks He must also apologise.
He must say sorry. He must drag sincere words from his heart to his mouth... Of these things, at this
time, James said nothing. The use of internal monologue provides an insight into what is going on
in James mind as he attempts to cross a boundary. He wants to

Captivity Of North America And Continued As A Significant...
Captivity narratives began with the settlement of North America and continued as a significant
genre in American literature until the end of the nineteenth century. The first captivity narratives
are believed to have been created by Native Americans who were captured by early Spanish
explorers. However, the genre commonly refers to the accounts written by European settlers who
were abducted by Native Americans. European settlers were fleeing to the new land in order to
escape religious persecutions, in order for that to happen, they had to take the land from the Native
Americans which later progressed to kidnapping and captivity of some early settlers.
Both authors clearly establish a sudden attack in the beginning of the narratives. Later during their
time in captivity, both authors make it clear that they are forced to change locations due to a
forced march by the Indians that took them captive. Examples of sale or trade are evident in each
narrative. One key example is when Mary Rowlandson states she was sold to King Philip s wife s
sister by a Narragansett Indian in her narrative The Sovereignty and Goodness of God .(132)
Finally these two narratives are completely different in the last key point in the captivity narrative
outline , the ransom or escape.
Ethnography is a hidden trait found in early American Literature captivity narratives. Ethnography
has been perceived as a discursive bridge between different cultures, and captivity narratives settings

The Road by Cormac McCarthy Essay
he Road, written by Cormac McCarthy was inspired by a trip he took with his young son to El

though of fires on the hill and then thought about his son s safety. McCarthy admitted to having
conversations with his brother about different scenarios for the apocalypse. For example,
cannibalism, when everything is gone, the only thing left to eat is each other. He made some notes

The connection that the man feels with his son is sacred and throughout the novel the man
makes great sacrifices to allow his son to live on and have a future in a world that has gone dim.
He shows his son how to carry the fire , first with his help, and then, later, without him. The novel
opens after some unknown apocalyptic event has struck the entire world. Neither the man nor
the boy is given a name; this anonymity adds to the novel s tone that this could be happening
anywhere, to anyone. McCarthy also chooses to not use any quotation marks in dialogue. This
was very interesting, but makes sense because this is a post apocalyptic story, and the exemption
of these punctuation elements might serve as a way for McCarthy to indicate that in this new
world, things of the old world like electricity, running water, and humanity; no longer exists, or
they exist in very scarce amounts. The first few pages of the novel establish us in the scenery.
The land is filled with ash and the remains of living animals and vegetation. Many of the
remaining human survivors have resorted to cannibalism, scavenging the rubble of city and
country alike for flesh. The father carries a revolver with him with only two bullets inside. We

on himself, if necessary. During their journey the father uses one bullet to kill a man who

Essay on Evidence Based Practice Research
Evidence Based Practice and Applied Nursing Research
Western Governor s University
Evidence based practice and applied nursing research encompasses selecting a perioperative
procedure such as routine shaving of a surgical site which is something you would commonly find
on a surgical floor. The process of shavinga perioperative site includes cleansing and shaving the
site that is to be operated on. Clipping the surgical site of hair is more appropriate because it
would decrease the likelihood of surgical site infection. Gregory P Nowinski noted in his article

There would be many difficulties in translating the research identified into practice. These include

theory is correct and will produce the most optimal patient outcome. Training sessions would have
to be implemented to teach staff the new proper technique. Protocols would have to be written and
followed. Staff would have to be hired and trained to train the current personnel. The new
equipment would have to be ordered and supplied and function properly from a reputable company.
Several barriers may prevent the change. The hospital may be under budget and not able to buy
equipment needed to perform the procedure properly. Some surgeons set in their ways may not be

Bp Oil Explosion in the Gulf of Mexico
On April 22 2010, the World faced one of its worst oil spill disasters in the history of marine
petroleum exploration. A deadly oil well blowout at Macondo Prospect, about 41 miles off the
southeast coast of Louisiana, spewed huge quantities of oil for 87 long days causing major
environmental and economic troubles to the Gulf region ( Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill). It started with
a fire and explosion, killing 11 workers, and then unleashed a slow motion disaster that spread
across the 600 mile gulf coastline. The massive oil spill disrupted lives and livelihoods, and
swallowed up the habitat of many species, leaving their fate to the toxic mix ( Political and
environmental Dilemma ).

Experts contend that it will take several years to fully assess the environmental and ecological
impact of the spill.
The extent of environmental damage is directly proportional to the amount of oil spilled and the
area it covers. Although both BP and government officials initially downplayed the importance of
estimating the extent of the spill, industry and environmental experts said accurate estimates
were key to planning and assessing remediation efforts. The final estimate of the oil spill now
stands at 4.9 million barrels, the volume that far surpassed many previous spills on American
soil. A previous accident caused by the collision of the Exxon Valdez oil tanker in Alaska spilled
about 760 thousand barrels, slicking 11,000 square miles of ocean surface and 1,300 miles of
pristine Alaskan coastline, and killing hundreds of thousands of birds and marine mammals and
untold numbers of fish and fish eggs ( Gauging the Long Term Impacts ).
As a result of the BP Oil spill, the US government imposed a temporary moratorium on off shore
drilling. A great amount of work was done by the government and BP Management to clean up
the oil slick across the shore of the Gulf of Mexico. BP committed 20 billion dollars for oil spill

people that are not close by. Technology is used to help advance our daily lives. Having
technology is a privilege but when you abuse the privilege you bring forth a dreadful outcome.

When you marry someone for the wrong reason there are consequences that you have to deal with
and the consequence are not good and it s not something that you expect to happen.
In today s age when we marry someone for the wrong reason it usually ends with a divorce and a

Addiction And Substance Abuse
What is addiction and substance abuse? The term addiction holds many different meanings in today
s society, but in the past it has been referred to as a sort of devotion to something. Over time, a more
modern definition of the term has developed that links addiction to harmful involvement with drugs
that eventually has potential of produce withdrawal or tolerance in an individual (Alexander
Schweighofer, 1988). Although the word addictionholds a more general meaning in a modern
context it pertains to any kind of compulsive use. Current psychological authorities refer to drug

Although methadone has become the most popular in opioid addiction treatment, the issue with
this treatment is that it is only able to be prescribed by clinicians to a certain amount of patients
(Wesson Smith, 2010). As a result, many other medications have been researched and studied for
treatment such as, buprenorphine. Buprenorphine prescribed by a physician in their office to a
client, and then the client is then able to take the prescription in the comfort of their own home
(Wesson et al, 2010). This, unlike methadone is prescribed as a tablet or an injectable formulation,
or a generic powder (Wesson et al, 2010). While the two drugs have contrasts, they also have much
in common. For example, they may decrease risky behaviors of addicts and preserve cognitive
function in early treatment. Buprenorphine works in the brain similarly to methadone, and it allows
for an abuser to maintain treatment in the comfort of their own home, at their own convince rather
than at the demand of a clinician. Buprenorphine is considered a partial opiate agonist meaning it is
an antagonist at the kappa opiate receptor (Wesson et al, 2010). This explains the dysphoria and
other unpleasant effect that may be produced by the drug in opiate users (Wesson et al, 2010).

Isaiah is a prophetic manual of events that are handed down to humankind through the Prophet
Isaiah of Amoz. This book is composed of 66 chapters. The first 39 chapters covers God s words
of divine judgement against Israel and Judah. Moreover, the destruction of Israel oppressors the
surrounding nation which included Assyria is eminent. However, the remaining 27 chapters bring
words of comfort and hope for Israel through their release from captivity, the promise of the future

These comforting words from the Lord is geared towards the assurance that He will never leave
Israel nor will He forsake them. In this section of Isaiah 40 66 it is vivid to understand that after
the release of Israel from captivity and the fall of Babylon the suffering servant/Messiah will
bring renewed hope to the people of God. God does not want His people to lose hope; but they
must continue to trust and be faithful to Him. Isaiah begins with the word from the Lord in God
s proclamation as He says Comfort ye, comfort ye my people (Isa. 40:1, KJV). These comforting
words was to instill the confidence of the people in Yahweh who is the King of kings and Lord of
Lords. Moreover, is paramount to know and understand that Judah still had 100 years of adversity
and more than 70 years in exile. Subsequently, the need for comfort and assurance was essential
because they (Judah) could envision an end to their plight in sight. God insists on letting His
chosen people know that as His servants they were responsible for carrying out His purpose.
Unfortunately they have become blind and deaf towards God; yet He will restore them; but only
this time He will utilize a Servant that will not fail Him in the form of Jesus Christ. It is God s grace

Charles Darwin s Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection...
Darwin collected and described thousands of animals and plants. In South America he observed the
adaptations of organisms to a variety of habitat from jungle to grassland to mountain habitats. In the
temperate regions the species resembled more closely the species of the tropical regions of South
America rather than the corresponding speciesof the temperate regions of Europe. For example, in
the grasslands of Argentina there are no rabbits, however, there are rodents that resemble rabbits;
these rodents are unrelated to European rabbits but are similar to other rodents in South America.
Moreover, the fossils in South America are dissimilar to European fossils but have similarities with
extant (i.e. currently living) plants and animals... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cuvier founded the science of paleontology and described the differences between the fossil flora
and fauna in different strata of rock: he observed that the more recent strata had fossils that more
closely resembled extant organisms. Cuvier believed that the discontinuities between fossils in
different strata were brought about by catastrophes such as floods which caused the extinction of
many species living at a particular time. This interpretation of earth s history is termed
catastrophism and was also held by many contemporary geologists. By contrast, Hutton and
subsequently Lyell held that geological processes are slow and subtle but that over prolonged
periods of time (millions of years) these can lead to major changes; implicit in this viewpoint is an
age for the earth radically different from the 6,000 years of the biblical creationists.
Other key influences on Darwin were Malthus who had concluded that war and famine were
inevitable as the human population grew more rapidly than available resources, and Lamarck who
had proposed a theory of evolution based on a continuous process of gradual modification due to
acquired characteristics. Both Darwin and Wallace brought together a multitude of facts including
the geographical distribution of organisms, comparative morphology of living organisms and their
fossil precursors. They postulated that long term environmental changes including movement of

The Conservation Assessment Of Common Trout And Colorado...
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this conservation assessment is to provide land managers and the general public
with an overview of the distribution and status of common trout (brook trout Salvelinus fontinalis;
brown trout Salmo trutta; and rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss) on the Grand Mesa,
Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forests (hereafter, GMUG). Common trout species are part
of a suite of Management Indicator Species (MIS) ...which are monitored during forest plan
implementation in order to assess the effects of management activities on their populations and the
populations of other species with similar habitat needs which they may represent (Forest Service
Manual 2620.5). MIS assessments are revised every five years and each is a synthesis of the most
recent field based observations and peer reviewed science pertaining to the species.
Common trout and Colorado River cutthroat trout (O. clarkii stomias) are MIS representing aquatic
habitats on the GMUG. A variety of land management activities can affect lake and stream habitats,
including traditional forestry practices, road construction and maintenance, fire and fuels
management, and water development. The presence of MIS species in a watershed is not an
obstacle to active forest management. On the contrary, MIS species are used by Forest personnel to
gauge the response of the entire forest ecosystem to land management projects we implement. In
particular, common trout were selected to assess effects of

How Did The Scientific Revolution Influence The Art World
On the surface you wouldn t think that the scientific revolution had that big of an influence on the
art world but I think that it s clear that it did, from new architecture techniques, on to new ways of
constructing paintings and paint itself, science served as one of the foundations for the
advancement of art.
The scientific revolution was beginning around the same time period as the renaissance, so it s no
surprise that one influenced the other. Many of these advancements can be seen in Leonardo s The
Last Supper . Not only is this painting technically beautiful but Leonardo s deep understanding of
human anatomy comes through in many of his paintings of people. The painting also uses
perspective lines to draw your attention to the center of the painting towards Christ, and Christ and

that only one sale a month and not spend a lot of specific work. Finally, I quadrupled my income

My Experience At A Restaurant
My experience at Borgne restaurant In life there are many experiences, good and bad. Good
experiences being those that we vaguely remember and usually forgot as time goes by. And bad
experiences being those that we remember and learn from; which impact and play a very important
role in the life of every chef. No kitchenis perfect, every kitchen is different. It takes time for you

experiences that I will never forget. The first day I walked into Borgne, Chef David gave me the

the more I ended up liking it. I have always liked to do things online at the comfort of your home
instead of having to go through traffic to do the same thing you could accomplish at home. It
was hard at first to get people to edit my papers, because no one knew names and would just
randomly pick a person. The more I edited other people s papers the more they would return the
favor and the easier it ended up being. In the end I really did enjoy having online discussions
about different essays and journals, you got to really connect with some students and learn a
little bit of their life. When I first started out writing papers I was absolutely horrible at it. In
high school I would always get C s or D s on my papers, always struggling to pass the English
classes. Throughout this class I have learned to be more confident in my writing and not to hold
anything back, the more insight into backgrounds of people that were in your story the more sense
your paper would make and the more interesting they became. I used to be scared to write about
personal things, that I might be judged or

The Arthropod Phylum
Woodlice are members of the Arthropod phylum and are known as terrestrial isopods, a group
which has a segmented body with jointed limbs attached to a rigid exoskeleton (Paoletti and
Hassall, 1999; Sutton, 2013). They tend to be between 1.2mm and 30mm in size and are a dark
brown or slatey colour (Paoletti and Hassall, 1999; Sutton, 2013). Woodlice are soil detritivores
and are important decomposers of leaf litter as they utilise around 10% of annual leaf litter, which
potentially can increase the surface of leaf litter available to microorganisms for further
decomposition by a factor of four (Souty Grosset et al., 2005). The most common habitat for
woodlice is within damp, dark conditions, under rocks or within rotting wood (Sutton,... Show more

For this experiment, one woodlice was placed in a maze and was forced to go left or right by
placing Perspex blocks to obstruct the opposite turn to that chosen: this forced turn and the next
freely chosen turn the woodlice made were recorded. The experiment was then repeated with 14
other woodlice; however, to avoid any of the woodlice following the path of the previous
subject, for each new woodlouse the maze was randomly reorganised and the initial forced left
or right turn was alternated. The third experiment was to investigate if the woodlice responded
to conspecific odour. This experiment used a Y maze that had gentle streams of humid air
passing over paper which had been exposed to other woodlice for a few days. The direction of
travel chosen by the woodlouse when it reached the Y junction, and its speed of movement in
mm /second were recorded. This experiment was then repeated 5 times, but after each run the
exposed filter paper was replaced. The results of all experiments were recorded and the data
produced from the second and third experiments for the whole group were combined to give a
large data set. Results Data sets need to be checked to see if they have normal distribution and if
the data has homogeneity of variance, before any statistical tests are carried out to assess whether
the data is parametric or non parametric. The test for normal distribution is to run a histogram using
a statistical programme, such as SPSS, and to

However, these symptoms are also the hallmark of a thyroid disorder, and because the symptoms are so similar, many women who think they are just experiencing menopause may not seek medical advice about the possibility of a thyroid disorder. • 3. To Kill A Mockingbird Social Class Analysis A Need For Change In western culture, people are treated differently based on resources, family heritage, and now personal achievements. Social classing and the consequences of it have been prevalent in societies since ancient times. Although it has been called by different names such as caste, stratification, Bourgeoisie vs. Aristocrats, and Plebeians vs. Patricians, social inequality remains. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee paints a picture of the distinct type of social classing that existed in a small Alabama town in the early 1900s. Based on skin color, background, and wealth, people are considered to be upper, middle, or lower class. Examples of social classing appear in the book through the Ewells reputation, through Aunt Alexandra s views of other families, and during Scout s first day at school. The Ewells are considered poor white trash. Notorious for laziness and living off of the government s money, they do not contribute to society. Every town the size of Maycomb had families like the Ewells. No economic fluctuations changed their status people like the Ewells lived as guests of the county in prosperity as well as in the depths of depression. (227). Labeling a family based on the actions of a few individuals belonging to that certain family conveys stereotypes, which are in many cases untrue. Offensive in some cases, this stereotyping can hurt reputations and put families at a social disadvantage. • 7. Role Of Female Nature In Frankenstein In the novel Frankenstein, the author Mary Shelley reinforced the role of female nature in a book that is predominantly male oriented. The female character is an underlying feature throughout the whole novel. For example, when Victor Frankenstein created his Monster from dead body parts, he disregarded the laws of femalereproduction. Both Anne K. Mellor and Jonathon Bate argue that Victor defiled the feminine naturewhen he created his Monster from unnatural means. Mellor argued in her essay, Possessing Nature: The Female in Frankenstein, that Victor eliminated the necessity to have females at all (355). There will not be a need for females if new beings are created in a laboratory. The disruption of mother nature is one of the novel s original sins (479). In Bate s essay, Frankenstein and the State of Nature, he argued that Victor Frankenstein broke the balance between female principles of maternity and mother nature (477). Frankenstein broke nature and undermined the role of females. The argument of Mellor was more persuasive than the discussion of Bate because she was able to provide more evidence that Victor Frankenstein dishonored the role of female nature. In Mary Shelley s novel, nature plays a vital role in the development of the plot. Nature is considered a female part because Mother Nature is the collective personification of life. Nature is life bearing and nurturing, as females are to their offspring. In spite of nature being feminine, Victor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Rhetorical Analysis Of Renewal Pagans are addressed directly once again and summoned to join the banquet of Christ who calls them back to light. The language of renewal is noteworthy here, especially because it presupposes the building up and restoration of what is already there. Pagans maintain a sense of dignity and are not equated with the demonic. The image of an invitation to a banquet where food of salvation and a cup of immortality is offered is also different from the images of remedying diseased patients through cautery and knife. Rather than being worshipped as if it were a god, which robs it of its dignity, the sun prefers to live out its purpose as part of the created order, simply to usher in the day. Firmicus then has the sun close the speech to the pagans with something like an altar call: I frankly show myself as just what I am, and I want you to understand of me nothing else but what you see. This is what pleases God, this is what He gladly welcomes, this is what leads you human beings to the way of salvation: that you should cast aside your errors and absorb the grace of God in simplicity and faith. In the sun s speech against its own worship, conversion is rendered as leaving behind false worship and absorbing God s grace in faith. Implicit is an affirmation of the essential humanity of pagans, who are called to the way of salvation. We could say that in casting aside their errors pagans participate in God s exorcism. In addition, the exorcizing of errors is figured as the precondition to conversion; it is not identical with conversion itself. The difference between exorcism as the precondition of conversion and exorcism as conversion is that the former grants agency and dignity to the pagan as human, while the latter over identifies the pagan as the demonic. By separating exorcism from conversion, this theology leaves room for a positive account of conversion as a free engagement between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Wireless Channel Is Different And Much More... The wireless channel is different and much more unpredictable than the wire line channel because of factors such as multipath and shadow fading, Doppler shift, and time dispersion or delay spread. These factors are all related to variability introduced by mobility of the user and the wide range of environmental conditions that are encountered as a result. (i) Multipath Delay Spread The multipath delay spread is the time dispersion characteristic of the channel. Each multipath component is typically associated with different time delay and attenuation. The shortest of which is the LOS path. The root mean square delay spread in multipath delay is denoted by П„_d and the maximum spread in frequency due to Doppler shift, f_m. (ii)Coherence Bandwidth The coherence bandwidth, is a range of frequencies over which two frequency components have a strong potential for amplitude correlation, and is used to define whether the channel fading is flat or frequency selective. (iii)Coherence Time The coherence time, T_c describes the expected time duration over which the impulse response of the channel stays relatively invariant or correlated. The coherence time is approximately inversely proportional to Doppler spread (Sklar, 1997). Everything in life changes; change is constant and inevitable. One, who evolves, chooses to do it for better or for worse. In literature, a character s evolution is seen through a term called dynamic characterization. Dynamic Characterization is clearly visible in the novel Anthem by Ayn Rand . In this dystopian fiction book, mankind has entered a period of darkness regarding the government and society; a society where your job, mating partner, and mindset has been chosen for you, and a government where individuality is forbidden. Living amongst this dark period in time is Equality 7 2521. In Anthem, Equality is a dynamic character through his important character traits. More specifically, Equality finds starting a movement, using we to I , and finally finds individuality which creates his round character traits. One of the most riveting moments in this novel, was discovery made by Equality. This society takes place in an unknown date far in the future, where an individual was raised to call themselves we in honor of their brothers in society. Any first person pronoun was unknown to this society because it was seen as selfish to have an ego. Equality however, was different from the rest of his brothers. She had noticed many women like herself who worked outside the home and felt guilty because their jobs threatened their husbands roles as providers or took time away from their children. Thus Friedan began to wonder not only about herself as a woman, a wife, and a mother, but also about the role society had shaped women to play. The results of the Smith questionnaire engaged Friedan s reportorial instincts. She sensed she was onto a story bigger than anything she had ever written. But when she circulated an article describing the plight so many women were experiencing, the male editors at the women s magazines turned it down flat. Hence, solidarity could be used as a resistance to insensitive government to achieve the required and honourable goal. Social and distributive justice can be achieved through solidarity. There are then some obvious links between solidarity and practical solutions in society. In solidarity, one cannot find rest while others find no rest. It is a matter of commitment to the lots of others. The concrete experience is that one must be involved in the lot of those who are affected. The crossing of boundaries is psychologically challenging and confronting as it can require an individual to accept events the way that they occurred and make attempts to move on, which can be difficult when it involves a traumatic situation. The psychological strain of crossing boundaries is represented through the texts of Five Bells, by Gail Jones, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and the graphical novel Maus. The crossing of a boundary can take a large toll on an individual, particularly when they are not able to cross it. One type of boundary that is particularly challenging for an individual to cross is that of their past and their current self. To find self forgiveness, an individual needs to be able to cross the boundary out of their memories of the past and move forward with their life. In the novel Five Bells, the character James struggles with his past immensely. He feels regret at how he left Ellie and their relationship, and struggles to cross that boundary by meeting with her. Captivity narratives began with the settlement of North America and continued as a significant genre in American literature until the end of the nineteenth century. The first captivity narratives are believed to have been created by Native Americans who were captured by early Spanish explorers. However, the genre commonly refers to the accounts written by European settlers who were abducted by Native Americans. European settlers were fleeing to the new land in order to escape religious persecutions, in order for that to happen, they had to take the land from the Native Americans which later progressed to kidnapping and captivity of some early settlers. Both authors clearly establish a sudden attack in the beginning of the narratives. Later during their time in captivity, both authors make it clear that they are forced to change locations due to a forced march by the Indians that took them captive. Examples of sale or trade are evident in each narrative. One key example is when Mary Rowlandson states she was sold to King Philip s wife s sister by a Narragansett Indian in her narrative The Sovereignty and Goodness of God .(132) Finally these two narratives are completely different in the last key point in the captivity narrative outline , the ransom or escape. A previous accident caused by the collision of the Exxon Valdez oil tanker in Alaska spilled about 760 thousand barrels, slicking 11,000 square miles of ocean surface and 1,300 miles of pristine Alaskan coastline, and killing hundreds of thousands of birds and marine mammals and untold numbers of fish and fish eggs ( Gauging the Long Term Impacts ). As a result of the BP Oil spill, the US government imposed a temporary moratorium on off shore drilling. A great amount of work was done by the government and BP Management to clean up the oil slick across the shore of the Gulf of Mexico. BP committed 20 billion dollars for oil spill victims over ... The term addiction holds many different meanings in today s society, but in the past it has been referred to as a sort of devotion to something. Although methadone has become the most popular in opioid addiction treatment, the issue with this treatment is that it is only able to be prescribed by clinicians to a certain amount of patients (Wesson Smith, 2010). As a result, many other medications have been researched and studied for treatment such as, buprenorphine. Buprenorphine prescribed by a physician in their office to a client, and then the client is then able to take the prescription in the comfort of their own home (Wesson et al, 2010). This, unlike methadone is prescribed as a tablet or an injectable formulation, or a generic powder (Wesson et al, 2010). While the two drugs have contrasts, they also have much in common. For example, they may decrease risky behaviors of addicts and preserve cognitive function in early treatment. Buprenorphine works in the brain similarly to methadone, and it allows for an abuser to maintain treatment in the comfort of their own home, at their own convince rather than at the demand of a clinician. Buprenorphine is considered a partial opiate agonist meaning it is an antagonist at the kappa opiate receptor (Wesson et al, 2010). This explains the dysphoria and other unpleasant effect that may be produced by the drug in opiate users (Wesson et al, 2010). These comforting words from the Lord is geared towards the assurance that He will never leave Israel nor will He forsake them. In this section of Isaiah 40 66 it is vivid to understand that after the release of Israel from captivity and the fall of Babylon the suffering servant/Messiah will bring renewed hope to the people of God. God does not want His people to lose hope; but they must continue to trust and be faithful to Him. Isaiah begins with the word from the Lord in God s proclamation as He says Comfort ye, comfort ye my people (Isa. 40:1, KJV). These comforting words was to instill the confidence of the people in Yahweh who is the King of kings and Lord of Lords. In South America he observed the adaptations of organisms to a variety of habitat from jungle to grassland to mountain habitats. In the temperate regions the species resembled more closely the species of the tropical regions of South America rather than the corresponding speciesof the temperate regions of Europe. For example, in the grasslands of Argentina there are no rabbits, however, there are rodents that resemble rabbits; these rodents are unrelated to European rabbits but are similar to other rodents in South America. Moreover, the fossils in South America are dissimilar to European fossils but have similarities with extant (i.e. currently living) plants and animals... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cuvier founded the science of paleontology and described the differences between the fossil flora and fauna in different strata of rock: he observed that the more recent strata had fossils that more closely resembled extant organisms. Cuvier believed that the discontinuities between fossils in different strata were brought about by catastrophes such as floods which caused the extinction of many species living at a particular time. This interpretation of earth s history is termed catastrophism and was also held by many contemporary geologists. By contrast, Hutton and subsequently Lyell held that geological processes are slow and subtle but that over prolonged periods of time (millions of years) these can lead to major changes; implicit in this viewpoint is an age for the earth radically different from the 6,000 years of the biblical creationists. Other key influences on Darwin were Malthus who had concluded that war and famine were inevitable as the human population grew more rapidly than available resources, and Lamarck who had proposed a theory of evolution based on a continuous process of gradual modification due to acquired characteristics. Both Darwin and Wallace brought together a multitude of facts including the geographical distribution of organisms, comparative morphology of living organisms and their fossil precursors. Common trout species are part of a suite of Management Indicator Species (MIS) ...which are monitored during forest plan implementation in order to assess the effects of management activities on their populations and the populations of other species with similar habitat needs which they may represent (Forest Service Manual 2620.5). MIS assessments are revised every five years and each is a synthesis of the most recent field based observations and peer reviewed science pertaining to the species. Common trout and Colorado River cutthroat trout (O. clarkii stomias) are MIS representing aquatic habitats on the GMUG. A variety of land management activities can affect lake and stream habitats, including traditional forestry practices, road construction and maintenance, fire and fuels management, and water development.
