Lejeune s Syndrome Research Paper
Genetic Disorder that Gives the Cry of a Cat The genetic disorder named cri du chat is a partial
depletion of chromosome 5p. Also known as Lejeune s syndrome as first described by Jerome Lejeune
in 1969. The name cri du chat is a French term, which means cat cry or call of the cat, because of how
affected children have a kitten like cry. It affects about 1 in 50 000 children born, predominantly
inherited by females by a 4/3 ratio. Although this particular symptom has been named after, the
symptom of the cat like cry may be lost past age 2. There are other symptoms of this disorder. Other
symptoms may include: Feeding problems; Low weight and growth; Speech problems and motor
delays; Behaviour problems; Abnormal facial features; Mental

Mobile Devices And The Technology
Introduction Today mobile devices are multifunctional devices capable of hosting a broad range of
applications for both business and consumer use. Smart phones and tablet allow people to access the
internet for email, instant messaging, text messaging and web browsing, as well as work documents,
contact list and more. Mobile devices are often seen as an extension to your own PC. Work done on
the road, or away from the office can be linked with your PC to reflect changes and new information.
The term mobile device is used to mean a wide range of consumer electronics. Usually mobile devices
are used to describe the devices that can connect to the internet. However some will consider digital

PDAs of today are available in either a stylus or keyboard version called a datapad. Some examples of
PDA devices are Palm Pilot, Revo, Sony Clie, Hewlett Packard Jornado, Casio Cassiopedia, Compaq

single device. Smartphones allow users to store information, install programs, along with using a
mobile phone in one device. For example, a smartphone could be a mobile phone with some PDA
functions integrated into device or vise versa. Tablet PCs are types of notebook computer that have
LCD screen on which you can write using a stylus. The handwriting is digitized and can be converted
to standard text through handwriting recognition, or it can remain as handwritten text. The stylus also
can be used to type on pen based key layout where the lettered keys are arranged differently than a
QWERTY keyboard. Tablet PCs also typically have a keyboard and or a mouse for input. Mobile
operating system is like a computer operating system, a mobile operating system is the software
platform on top of which other program run. When you purchase a mobile device, the manufacturer
will have chosen the operating system for that specific device. The operating system is responsible for
determining the functions and features available on your device, such as thumbwheel, keyboards,
WAP, synchronization with applications, e mail, text messaging and more. The mobile operating

The Great Dream Of Betty White
Fame, to most, seems like a grand dream. Only a select few have experienced the spoils of fame, from
the bothersome paparazzi to the masses of doting fanatics, and none have experienced fame in the
same way as Betty White. For her, this dream became a fantastic reality. She is universally renowned
for the charm, wit, and comedic talent that she brought to each and every scene. Betty White, dubbed
The Queen of Television, is an award winning actress who is adored for her memorable starring roles
and countless appearances, effectively securing a place for herself in the hearts of millions.
On January 17, 1922, Betty Marion White was born an only child to homemaker Christine Tess and
lighting company executive Horace Logan in Oak Park, Illinois. The family struggled considerably
during the Great Depression, compelling White s father to build and sell radios to earn extra income.
As a teenager, Betty White had aspirations to become a forest ranger ( Betty White ). Unfortunately,
women were not accepted to be forest rangers during that time. White took advantage of her writing
talent and consequently decided to pursue a writing career. In high school, Betty White even created
her senior class play ( Betty White ). At first she appeared in theater and radio, but in 1949 White
became a part of the Al Jarvis Variety Show. Betty was initially hired to handle
Rushing 2 commercials on the program, but she worked her way up to becoming a co host. In 1952,
White co founded Bandy

Comparing the Poetry of Gary Snyder and Ruth Stone Essay
Comparing the Poetry of Gary Snyder and Ruth Stone
Gary Snyder is not only a poet, but a preacher of sorts. His poems carry powerful messages about
getting back to your roots. His poems contain strong themes of anti consumerism and spirituality.
Facts is a short piece consisting of facts on consumerism in America. This piece warns of the dangers
of over consumption and lack of moderation. In some cases, however, Snyder does appear far too
extreme in his views, like in By Frazier Creek Falls where is says We could live on this Earth /
Without clothes or tools. This theme of primitivism is a common theme in Snyder s poetry. Many of
his poems are about nature and the uncivilized world. the settings of his poems are ... Show more

Stone is similar to Snyder in the sense that they both believe that the human race should not lose track
of our place in the Earth. They are both telling us that we should not allow consumerism and
technology sidetrack us from spirituality and family and nature.
Stone uses her own personal experiences for the basis of much of her poetry. Plumbing is a poem
about getting her toilet fixed! Another poem, Simplicity , is a poem that describes getting water in the
winter when the pipes the lead into her house are frozen. On a literal level, both of these poems are
about relatively trivial events in her life, but there are much deeper meanings concealed inside the
poems.
Snyder s poems are also often centered around his own personal life experiences, which he also uses
as a foundation to focus in on a message. The Bath is a narrative poem that describes a scene in which
Snyder is bathing with his wife and children. He describes the acts of washing, and describes the area
surrounding the tub. This poem shows how important the simple things in life can be. It s also a poem
about purification, and about spending time with family members. I believe that Ruth Stone would
appreciate this kind of though. After all, one of her collection of poems is titled Simplicity . Snyder s
poems offer solutions to the problem of having an overly complicated

Employees Should Be Submitted For Permanent Layoff
In this particular group project, we need to come up with a proposal and a decision on which two
employees should be submitted for permanent layoff. It was painful decision who should go. As these
approaches are painful to staff involved. Not only workers are laid off, but layers of management can
be collapsed, resulting in new management structures. We must be careful with the decisions of
layoffs, as it could lead to poor morale. Total of five employees have been assigned for our group
proposal, and each employee has been given brief information about their background. As our group
discussion took part, we all started to do our self evaluations about each employee using his/her
background information. As we have decided all will be examined based on their performances. After
the meeting it is imperative that decision reached on the persons to be laid off must be in writing and
mailed confidentially to keep all information classified. As I read through each employee s
background, I decided to specify their advantages and disadvantages by sorting them into pros and
cons. I then evaluated and concluded my perspective of each individual. As we evaluated each
employee, we collectively decided to let go of Donovan Taylor and Gabriella Santana. Some of the
things we looked into before making the decision were the employees evaluations, education,
experiences, and how they contributed to the company. When it came to Donovan Taylor, it was
obvious that he has been with the

John Mackie s Views On The Problem Of Evil
The problem of evil
It s only not depict a logical argument intended for a disciple, however, he give an dispute of such
extent as to style a disciple s religious opinions wholly illogical in as much as a disciple grips to
something that can be proved moreover believe on what can be present refuted from extra theories
they grip.
For disciples who grip to a God who is both exclusively good and omnipotent is the single problem of
evil.
The subsequent propositions are erratic, according to Mackie.
1. God is omnipotent.
No boundaries to what an omnipotent creature can do.
2. God is exclusively good.
An exclusively good creature is opposite to evil in a manner that it rejects evil as remote as it can.
3. God is omniscient.

God subsists.
All of them cannot be true this mean one of them have to be false.
We can contradict that God is all powerful or wholly good, or we can contradict that there is any evil
in the creation.
FALLACIOUS SOLUTIONS
1. Good cannot be without evil, since evil is counterpart of good.
2. Evil is essential as a means to virtuous.
3. A world with several evil is better than a world with no evil.
4. Evil is essential for free will.
Good cannot be without evil, since evil is counterpart of good
The plain concept is that without letting some evil, God could not have completed a creation which
had any good, because it is unmanageable for good will to exist without evil.
Mackie states that evil must essentially exit of good exist since they are rational counterparts.
Therefore, it s rationally required that in creating good God must also generate at slightest some evil.
Evil is essential as a means to virtuous
This idea contains a stark limit on God s power thus contains refusing God s omnipotence.
Without a certain means it can t get a certain end called causal law.

A Short Note On My Performance Improvement Program Essay
PE STUDIES INTERNAL
Confidence is a key aspect to succeed
Confidence Belief in one s own abilities, self trust
When going to evaluate the effectiveness of my performance improvement programme I needed to
consider the experiences that I found when doing the programme and the trainings. I asked myself
when doing this programme like what is required in order to improve my kayaking skill level and is
confidence really the key to succeeding in improving my performance. In order to find out this
information I needed to be honest and clear in my vision to do this an unbiased judgement is needed in
evaluating my progress. A performance improvement programme for me in kayaking is key, due to
this sport being relatively new to me having no real experience. It s a good way to introduce me to
kayaking because it helps you evaluate new areas of the sport like doing an eskimo roll. A programme
like this helps me achieve and evaluate specific goals that are both realistic and achievable over a 6
week course and develop the skills and gain what knowledge is required e.g. hip flicking is the most
important aspect in rolling in my opinion. I believe it is important to evaluate yourself at the start of
the programme to get a gauge at what type of learning you are at, which in my case it was cognitive
stage which is defined as develops the understanding of how to perform the skill. Which in other
terms means you haven t practised the skill you re just learning about the skill. Its also

Rdc Property Design Analysis
5. Design considerations
The development of a new RDC requires an analysis of a range of criteria, to determine the optimal
outcome.
5.1 Ownership
The Truganina RDC property is owned by the Charter Hall Group with Coles contracted to a lease
expiring 2032 (The Urban Developer 2016). Private control over the site allows Coles flexibility of
operations and is cost effective due to the large volumes of freight handled (Bowersox, Closs Cooper
2010, p.257). Additionally, Coles have strategically adopted Linfox to manage the site (Coles 2015),
leveraging their extensive logistics capabilities.

Is Beauty In The Eye Of The Beholder
Imagine you are walking through the woods on a sunny fall day, during this walk there are many
things that might bring you pleasure. Along the way you might hear a bird singing, feel a rock as you
hike a path, taste cold water to replenish your thirst, and see many beautiful sights. The person you are
walking with may have a total different experience and sense things that bring pleasure to them that
may not to you. There is an old adage that says Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This adage can be
debated time and time again. The first things to look at is the definitions of beauty and beholder. The
dictionary defines beauty is a combination of qualities that pleases the aesthetic senses ( Beauty ). It
doesn t say beauty has to be seen by the eye. Beauty can be combination of our five senses. It can be
anything we can see, touch, taste, feel, or smell. The definition of beholder is a person who observes a
sense. The adage Beauty is in the eye of the beholder by definition means that each person sees beauty
and can find beauty in different things through their senses ( Beholder ). It creates a very subjective
approach to beauty. The adage is true because each person is an individual and has different
perspectives and way of sensing. The idea that what pleases one person may not please another is true
along this case because not everybody has the same preference to beauty. Beauty is subjective and can
be seen through personal experience and should give society a

Refusal Of The Potsdam Ultimatum
1. Refusal of the Potsdam Ultimatum
1.1 The End of the Pacific War As the Second World War was coming to a close, all that was needed
for the war to end was the surrender of the Japanese. General Douglas MacArthur stated that he
believed that the bomb was completely unnecessary from a military perspective and that Japan was
practically defeated. Truman knew that Japan was in danger of losing the war, yet he still chose to
make the decision to drop the bomb, which shows there were other factors he took under
consideration. Anticipating that the end of the war was near, a meeting was held on the second of July
between the United States, the United Kingdom and China in the city of Potsdam. The meeting
effectively sent the message to Japan that her main enemies had agreed together on the ultimatum.
This is important because it demonstrates the unity of nations involved in the decision about what to
do in response to Japan. Those nations were in agreement over the result of the meeting, which led to
the creation of the Potsdam Ultimatum.
1.2 The Potsdam Ultimatum
The Potsdam Ultimatum was released on July 26th, 1945, outlining the conditions of surrender
presented to Japan by the United States, Britain and China. America had given a warning to Japan
about the outcome of any refusal stating that the full application of our military power, backed by our
resolve will mean the inevitable and complete destruction of the Japanese armed forces and just as
inevitably the utter

Generating High Revenue in an Organization
1. Executive Summary
An organizations main objective would be to generate high revenue and maximize profits. To generate
this high revenue, it would be the employees who would be working hard strategically and showing
high performances to drive the organization towards achieving that goal. High performance could be
achieved only by well motivated people who are prepared to exercise an extra effort. Even in fairly
basic roles, there is some level of motivation involved.
In a research by Hunter et al (1990), it was found that the difference in value added discretionary
performance between superior and standard performers was 19 percent. For highly complex jobs it
was 48 per cent. (Armstrong and Armstrong, 2009)
To motivate people it is necessary to understand the types of motivation and how it works with each
skill level of people. The videos and statements by Daniel Pink, Professor Jim Collins and Kathy
Schofield taken in this context give an in depth insight into the importance motivation and self
motivating environment.
2. Analysis of the videos and the statements
Drive Daniel Pink
Daniel Pink is the author of five popular books which focus on the changing workplace. In Dan Pink s
video about the drive he critically analyses the traditional thinking where it is believed that more
reward gives better performance, whereas when you punish something you get lesser of that. It was

A Superstar s Open Contempt
A Superstar s Open Contempt
For various folks, the description of the nature of Jesus prevails as a yielding, meek man that merely
wants people to be morally, loving toward each other; notwithstanding, this analogy surfaces as being
insultingly inadequate. For this man, if you want to call Him a man, shined as a towering superstar and
labored continually to tolerate people s ignorance and stupidity. Throughout the four gospels, from the
Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5 7), to all of His teachings and parables, He does expound on people to
strive to better their brotherly love, ethics, morals, etc., speaking quite compassionately; while
focusing mainly on people s spiritual transformations, becoming born again. (John 3:3) Nevertheless,
looking closer, there occur matters that exhibit disregard and possibly open contempt numerous times
(Matt 10:21, 10:34 38), even towards His own mother (Matt 12:46 50, Mar 3:31 35, John 2:4); in
addition, He demonstrates a temper to the point of killing a barren fig tree (Matt 21:18 21; Mark 11:12
14; 11:20 21).
Moreover, Jesus persists as constantly attacking people for their erroneous beliefs, and other unruly
behaviors; such as the Scribes, (Matt 5:20, 23:14 15), the Pharisees, (Matt 23:25, Luke 11:44); the
Sadducees, (Matt 16:11 12). He discredits Gentiles, and Samaritans (Matt 10:5); people buying and
selling in the temple (Matt 21:12); heathens (Matt 6:7); publicans (Matt 18:17); anyone outside of the
house of Israel (Matt 15:24 26);

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Analysis
In Gina Wisker s article Vampires and School Girls: High School Jinks on the Hellmouth , she makes
the point that Buffy is a new kind of women within vampire fictions. She supports this point by
showing how Buffy is not a stereotypical helpless woman in a vampire film; Buffy is a strong
independent woman who kills vampires and other creatures. While Wisker makes a very strong
argument, this idea of a new kind of women could be extended to Willow and a new kind of men
shown in Xander and Giles.
In the first episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer , the viewer sees Willow as a stereotypical woman in
monster films. She was kidnapped and did not know how to defend herself, but throughout the rest of
the show Willow develops as a strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated earlier, men are normally the hero s but Xander represents a new kind of man. The dynamic
of the man being the hero is flipped once again; Xander is a man that acts as a side kick to the main
hero, who is a female. Xander tries his best to help Buffy throughout the film but he since he does not
have any supernatural powers, like Buffy and Willow, there is not much he can do. Even though he
does not have powers, this does not mean that he is weak. The most important part about Xander is
that he sees beyond the supernatural and stays strong and supportive throughout the series. Xander
keeps his hopes in the hardest situation and keeps the group tougher and positive. He will even
sacrifice himself in order to keep the people he loves safe. He continuously fixes things for the group,
and later on he goes on to cotinine his education and get a job as a carpenter. Xander represents a kind
of man that may not take all the spot light but is still strong, level headed and the heart of the group.
Possibly the best thing about Xander is that fact that he is normal. By just staying true who he is he
helps his friends and saves the world, more than once.
Another kind of man in Buffy the Vampire Slayer , is portrayed by Giles. Giles is a watcher assigned
to watch and teach Buffy how to become a slayer. He helps to teach Buffy and get her ready for the
battles

Factors Of Vitraya Ramunong And The Tree Of Souls
There are five important factors to Ingold s argument. First, the occupied world consists of things,
each an accumulation of the threads of life, and not of objects which are considered as bounded,
independent and absolute entities. Per Ingold (2010: 2) To create things, per Aristotle, involves a
bringing together of a form (morphe) and matter (hyle) . To illustrate this, let s consider Vitraya
Ramunong or The Tree of Souls (Avatar,2009). Where do the Tree of Souls end and the rest of
Pandora begin? Even though the question sounds quite simple, it is not easily answered. We can look
at the physical aspects first. Is the giant Willow like tree s bark part of the tree? Are the organisms
occupying the bark part of the tree? Are the woodsprites, or seeds, part of the tree? Are the creatures
occupying the tree part of the tree? Are the Na vi clans who occupy the tree part of the tree? Is the
unobtanium deposit underneath the tree part of the tree? Are the algae growing on and underneath the
tree part of the tree? Now let s consider the spiritual aspects of the tree... The Tree of Souls is not only

How does the California drought affect local ecotourism in San Diego? Water has been around for
almost as long the Earth has been around, approximately 4.6 billion years ago. In some shape or form,
water has continued to be an important resource since the formation of Earth and continues to be today
as well. Water being a finite abundant substance, it covers up approximately 70 percent of the Earth s
surface. It is without a doubt an essential resource needed to sustain life on Earth. Nonetheless, not
only is water an important resource for all living organisms for subsistence, but it also serves other

California is a geographically dry area and water shortage has been a serious issue affecting the state
since 2012. California has the highest water consumption compared to all the other states and this
partly due to the reason that roughly eighty percent of the state s water is used towards agriculture;
California being the largest agricultural export distributor in the country (Green). Since of 2012,
California has been on a severe four year drought and has had immediate plans and regulations in
order to reduce the impact it has. According to California Water Science Center, 2014 was the third
driest year on record and following that, 2015 [was] the warmest year on record. The recent record
breaking climate has contributed to the drought of California and as a result has had detrimental
impacts to the environment. Severe climate during a shortage of water can lead to drastic problems
because it can lead to an increase of evapotranspiration and increase of precipitation falling as rain
rather than snow. Having precipitation falling more often as rain rather than snow during warm
weather can lead to early snowmelt which can unbalance the water supply demands (Causes of
Drought). During a drought, occasionally humans are impacted, but more importantly the environment
experiences the impacts harshly. Wildlife habitat lost, inadequate food and water

The Military Rule Of Burma
The land on which modern day Myanmar stands could be traced back to Pagan Dynasty. Britain
gradually took control of Myanmar in 1824. Burma was able to gain its independence from the Great
Britain in 1948. Burma became a parliamentary democracy, granting autonomous states to minorities.
In 1962 Union Revolutionary Council overthrew the civilian government and suspended the
constitution. As a result, the country was under military rule from 1962 to 1988. The military
government transitioned to a socialist economy, nationalized all major industries and reduced the
foreign influence. Years of military rule and suppression and a failed attempt to move to a multi party
election system led to the imposition of economic sanctions to Myanmar. A new constitution was
voted in by the public in 2008, that established a parliamentary system where the military has the 50%
of the seats. The military government was officially dissolved in 2011, and a former member, Thein
Sein was inaugurated as president and PM, convening a largely civilian parliament and begun
political, economic and parliamentary reforms. Thein Sein administration brought a period of reform
and enabled the return of international engagement. Through series of reforms such as pardoning to
most political prisoners, relaxation of censorship and efforts toward peace with rebel groups. A second

Procrastinator And Slacker Analysis
All people spend at least a little time in the four of quadrants: procrastinator, prioritizer, yes man, and
slacker. The quadrants represent your habits on importance and urgency in relation to your priorities.
Although I spend most of my time as a prioritizer, I can remove the yes man from my life by being a
better prioritizer and learning how to say no to people. The first and fourth quadrants, procrastinator
and slacker, are the two worst quadrants to be in. Both leave you with low quality performance, stress,
guilt, and a lot of wasted time. Procrastinators and slackers do not plan anything out, nor do they
worry about the quality of their work, only that it eventually gets done, sometime in the future. At this
point in my life, I relate

Executive Orders And Their Constitutionality Essay
Executive Orders and Their Constitutionality Although nowhere in the Constitution are executive
orders explicitly mentioned, Article II, Section I states that The executive Power shall be vested in a
President of the United States of America. The President s power to issue executive orders comes from
the Constitution and Congress. Executive orders have the full force of law when they take authority
from a legislative power, which grants its power directly to the executive by the Constitution;
executive orders do not require congressional approval. Similar to legislative statutes and regulations
propagated by government agencies, executive orders are subject to judicial review, meaning that they
can be struck down if deemed unconstitutional by the courts. Executive orders are not to be confused
with executive agreements. Executive order carries out constitutional powers of the President without
having to go through Congress. An executive agreement is an agreement with foreign heads of state
concluded by Presidents under their power as Commander in Chief and their general authority in
foreign affairs; executive agreements do not require ratification by the Senate. Examples of executive
agreements include trade deals and military actions. Executive orders have been around since 1789,
when George Washington was President of the United States, although until the early 1900s executive
orders were unannounced and undocumented. Since 1789 more than 13,000 executive

Conformity And Individuality In The Lost Thing
The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan is an animated film adaptation, which explores our universal want to
conform and our societal tendencies to exclude any differences. The picture film narrates the story of
the lost thing, which is disorientated in a world of conformity and a world with no care to notice such
diversity. The boy, a tireless collector of bottle tops, discovers the lost thing and befriends it, taking
the responsibility to find its place of belonging in the dystopian city.
Shaun Tan portrays the creature s tendency to stand out in the compliant society which allows the
audience to compare between conformity and individuality. At the beginning of the book, it shows that
only the unnamed protagonist seems to notice the lost thing while the others around him are portrayed
to be absorbed in what they are doing that they never stop to look what is in front of them. The
panning shot of the boy amongst those who were self absorbed and preoccupied with their ritual habits

of his better judgement, the boy feels apologetic for the unfortunate thing, and endeavours to find out

Andre Derain, London Bridge
Visual Elements
Line I believe implied lines were used in this painting. Some edges are clear with a defined start and
finish. The line weight varies. The lines also vary in width and length. Mostly straight lines with a few
curves.
Shape The shapes range from rectangles, arches, and squares, to blurs that appear to be buildings in
the far back corner.
Mass I believe the mass is actual. The Bridge itself is the bulk of the artwork, its mass size stretches
across the painting.
Space Space is created by the placement of the bridge and the buildings in the background. 1. Two

Motion can be possible with the fact that the boat appears to be going into the tunnel and the water
appears to have movement. 1. Implying Motion Derain chose to use brushstrokes that would imply
that the water was moving making motion appear possible. 2. Actual Motion
Light Discrimination between light and dark.
1. Seeing light Light appears to be reflecting in the water and in the skies horizon. The waters value is
of a lighter choice of colors where as the tunnels and the buildings depths are darker. 2. Implied Light
Chiaroscuro is used for the tunnels and the buildings to show depth. The water definitely has strong
value contrasts where as the buildings in the back going into the distance have minimal contrasts. 3.
Light as a Medium The pigments used carry the medium in the painting.
Color Color is definitely an important fact in this piece. This particular artist developed Fauvism along
with Henri Matisse. Using bold colors and exaggerating color in their art. Derain was known as a Les
Fauves painter. Les Fauves believed that color should be used to express the artists feelings about a
subject, rather than simply describe what it looks like. This painting has two main characteristics a
simplified drawing with exaggerated color.
Texture The texture used in the London Bridge creates the feeling of the art. The texture used is

Appalachian Mountains And Appalachians
Appalachians
The Appalachian Mountains region is roughly 360,000 km squared, taking up about 3.6 percent of
Canada s land surface. This region locates itself on the islands of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova
Scotia, New Brunswick, and a bit of Quebec, with Moncton and Halifax as some of its major
cities. The rocks, most of which are mostly sedimentary, were changed drastically when Europe and
North America collided, causing its geography to be uneven, with many jagged peaks. Forestry,
agriculture, fishing, tourism, coal mining, logging, and manufacturing are their main industries.Their
overall population lands at a bit more than 25 million. Some interesting facts are that they have the
oldest mountains and the richest fishing.
Canadian Shield Despite covering 5 million km squared of land (over 50 percent) it does not have
ideal soil for crops while having the richest area for mining. The Canadian Shield occupies most of
Quebec, much of Ontario, Nunavut, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories and a small portion
of Alberta. Some of the jobs in this area of only 7 million are lumbering, mining, and manufacturing.
Their land contains mostly igneous and metamorphic rock plus many minerals (gold, nickel, lead,
copper, zinc,). When the tectonic plates collided the mountains, later eroded to flatland or rounded
hills. Its geography also contains rivers and lakes from glaciers. Some of their largest cities are
Montreal and Kugluktuk.

The West Vs. Reality
The West Versus Reality
Since the beginning of history, the rise and descent of civilizations has molded history influencing
what nations have become today. The approach of using a strong military and a dynamic economy can
be seen as template for civilizations when trying to dominate parts of the world since this template has
been consistently used. The Clash of Civilizations, an essay by Samuel P. Huntington, argues that, as a
result of the Cold War, global politics would be centered around the conflicts between the world s
civilizations. Huntington perceives the conflict between Islam and the West an extremely impactful
conflict. However, The Clash of Ignorance, a literary piece by Edward W. Said, critiques and
disapproves Huntington s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His argument would have been significantly stronger if he showed the darker side of the West as
opposed to making it appear like the West never did anything resulting in a negative impact.
Huntington emphasizes the importance of culture within a civilization by describing it as a cultural
entity (Huntington 2). Culture, along with history, language, and religion, is what distinguishes
civilizations from each other (Huntington 2). Similarly, he speaks about the significance of being
aware of one s own civilization and what makes it unique from others. He describes this awareness
using term civilization consciousness and believes that this awareness can sometimes lead to conflict
(Huntington 3). This idea is similar to the idea of nationalism. Nationalism is commonly used to
engender a sense unity within civilizations with the goal of fighting external forces, but nationalism
can be certainly dangerous. For instance, in the film Promises and Betrayals, Arabs and Jews had an
ongoing conflict after the British promised them their independence, which made them victims of their
own sense of nationalism. However, Huntington also mentions actions like Asianization and re
Islamization that have the goal of understanding cultural differences showing the non violent side of
civilization consciousness (Huntington 4). An increase in tolerance to

George Orwell Privacy
Privacy at the Cost of National Security Big Brother is watching (Orwell). The truth is that anyone
reading this paper from the internet has the right to know that someone thousands of miles away could
very well be watching (Orwell). On top of this shocking fact, a victim would never even know they
were being watched. George Orwell knew what he was talking about when he wrote of a society in
which all things are monitored by the government and an individual s right to privacy is breached for
the sake of peace and safety. Some might even say America is such a society today. The citizens in the
USA believe that their government is doing all in its power to protect them, but when do national

Many people will argue that the current capabilities of different agencies are constitutional and are for
the country s benefit; some have the belief that what they don t know can t hurt them. Maybe
government does have the right to obtain what they want for their discretion, and we should trust that
they will not abuse that power. It is true that the people of America do not know the plans of various
government agencies, and perhaps it is best that we accept that and let them do their work. Besides,
just imagine all of the terrorist attacks and other incidents that will be prevented by these national
security measures. While all these points are logical, they re missing the point. Ignorance is not bliss,
and a privacy invasion such as one that is occurring now cannot continue. These national security
measures are slowly eating away our basic freedoms and liberties. We cannot just let this pass by and
become blasé on the matter; it needs to be understood that there is a limit to what is acceptable and
that is, what is necessary? The government does not need to know what websites people are visiting,
and it does not need the phone records of millions of Americans. These current government

Ethnographic Reflection
Raybeck describes several adventures and misadventures involving field research in his account of the
year and a half he spent in Kelantan. He also discusses the understanding, humility and scars that these
experiences may leave behind. Raybeck provides in depth descriptions of Kelantanese society and
culture. He addresses topics such as political structures, the status of women, kinship, linguistics, and
economics. Additionally, he demonstrates for us how challenging yet rewarding anthropological
fieldwork can be, and we see how he builds rapport in a research setting in order to ensure that the
information he acquires is reliable.

In fact, this extra effort to blend in with and accept the Kelantanese way of life is what perhaps
prevented Raybeck s presence from having an impact on the culture he was studying.
There are many instances throughout the ethnography when the writer appears to be going through
culture shock, and the impact of the culture he is studying on him becomes evident. For instance, thed
Kelantanese disregard and even contempt of the concept of privacy is something that takes him and
his wife some getting used to. Similarly, the ethnographer is confused when their dressing in
traditional garb is interpreted as him and his wife s willingness to convert to Islam. There are other
times through his stay when he is expected to take a stand on political and ethical matters, and he finds
himself struggling to maintain neutrality yet not earn the contempt of the villagers.
Raybeck encountered numerous ethical issues, including but not limited to prostitution, murder, and
smuggling. As before, the writer tried his very best to adopt a neutral stand, and participate only
minimally and if asked to by the parties involved. Raybeck quickly learns that one s actions in such
matters are what are used to gage one s loyalty to a specific group or individual within the community.

Employees of the county health department were attending a holiday party when two shooters walked

suspect then fled in a black SUV with Utah plates, and were later pursued and killed by local police.
The suspects were identified as Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, a married Muslim couple

According to the text book, terrorism is defined as a systematic attempt to inspire fear to gain political
ends, typically involving the indiscriminate use of violence against noncombatants. Terrorist attacks is
definately not new to the U.S. In 2001, al Qaeda lauched an attack on New York s World Trade Center.
The attack killed thousands of Americans, and put the country in a state of panic and scare. One
reason for this attack was that Islamics were angered that the U.S had troops on the soil of Saudi
Arabia, which was regarded as sacred. Groups such as al Qaeda are extremely violent, and will not be
negotiated with for peace. Recently, we have had several terrorist attacks including the Boston
Marathon bombing, Muslim shooting at Fort Hood, and ISIS attacks on soldiers and journalists.
Recently, attacks from domestic islamists are a major concern for the U.S. These individuals are self
radicalized through beliefs and the internet, rather than being a part of a group. Farook and Malik, of
the San Bernardino attacks, are examples of this. In my opinion, terrorism is a huge concern for all of
the people of our country. I think the United States needs to have better background checks and
investigations on immigrants before letting them into our country, and we need to have better online
and phone security from the government so they can weed out threatening individuals that are already
in the U.S. Without more security, organizations like ISIS or self radicals may extremely harm our

As late as the 1960 s people thought of anyone with a disability as stigmatic. If someone was different
the mindset was they should be exterminated. This is really interesting to me because this mind set
started to change in the 1960 s around the time of the civil rights movement and the women s rights
movement, that is when the comics for the X Men came out. It was meant to show people, even
though others are different, they could be special too. X Men was meant to show it is okay to be
different and for your friends to be different. They also do a good job to show that not every difference
is physical, several of the characters also look normal but have a mental ability. I think this shows it is
okay to have a disability or to be different then other people. Not everyone is going to have the Ideal
body or mind and it is okay. If you used to be different, you wanted to try to find a way to hide what
made you different. This is also shown in the movie. The character named Beast wanted to find
anyway to hide his disfigurement and went as far as to create a drug to cure himself so he would look
normal. He offered the drug to Mystique also so she could always look normal. By the time he had
created the drug Mystique had realized it is okay to be different, she had embraced it and turns down
the drug. Beast still takes the drug because he is not comfortable with the way he thinks people
perceive him, this is why he always tried to hide his disfigurement. However, when he takes the drug
it makes the disfigurement worse. The mutants still accept him but now he has to live with the fact his
minor disfigurement he could hide is now very prominent. This could have been avoided if he would
have realized that just because he did not have what society deemed an ideal body, it was ok because
his abnormality made him special. In the

Because lawyers were able to recruit huge number of claimants,66 through 2002, it was estimated that
730,000 of the individuals who were exposed to asbestos, have brought claims against more than 8400
companies. Consequently, companies have spent $70 billion on these claims, and costs are expected to
triple or even quadruple (up to $210 billion). The number of firms involved in asbestos litigations
increased from 300 firms in 1982 to more than 6,000 in 2000.67 There are at least 300,000 asbestos
claims pending nationwide,68 and therefore, there is a serious concern that funds will dry up quickly
and future claimants will not be sufficiently compensated.67 The vast majority of these claims are
coming from plaintiffs who have no impairment, because they are subject to statutes of limitations that
begin when they discover evidence of asbestos exposure. These huge number of claims are exhausting
a considerable money and court s time and forcing firms into bankruptcy.69 Second hand asbestos

challenging for several reasons. First, injuries that have occurred in the past due to asbestos exposure
were rarely documented, second, the latency period between exposure and occurrence of symptoms is

Do the Right Thing is a 1989 film by Spike Lee. According to Entertainment Weekly, it is one of the
25 most controversial films ever. It was deemed culturally significant by the Library of Congress in
1999, and then placed in the National Film Registry. The story follows the lives of citizens of the
Bedford Stuyvesant District in New York City, on the hottest day of the summer, and what they do to
cope with the heat. To summarize the entire plot it ends in a riot. I d like to analyze some of the
situations found in the movie, and discuss how, if at all, it related to race relations in America. When
watching the film, I wasn t overly interested in the plot. Nothing interesting happened (until the end of
the movie) and there was nothing that made me (as a viewer) intrigued to continue watching. What I
found important, however, was the character portrayals in the movie, and this is what kept me
watching. I m not sure what Lee wanted from this movie, because to me, it seemed as if he was being
a) overtly racist towards non African Americans, and b) stereotypical of his own race. Throughout the
movie I was astounded by the portrayal of the black characters in this movie. Specifically, Buggin Out
s character. While I realize that the character s name is a direct reference to his personality, I think Lee
went a bit too far. For example, when the white cyclist accidentally scuffed his

One example of self realization is making a choice. There is many choices in people s life, and they

A Scandal In Bohemia
Introduction:
The story pulled from The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes published 1892 by Arthur Conan Doyle.
Tells the story of Sherlock Holmes, a detective capable of solving even the hardest of mysteries. In A
Scandal in Bohemia Holmes helps the King in retrieving an item from a previous relationship he had

Doyle hid within the text underlying problems during his time to help realize the faults in society.

A Scandal in Bohemia takes the stance on showing the distinction between social class and the way
women were treated. Social class was a problem and still is to this day. The separation of the rich and
poor detached the people and left them in two separate worlds. The story intermingles the King of
Bohemia with a middle class woman named Irene Adler. This affair turned bad when he left her for a
Scandinavian princess, so he wouldn t be shunned for marrying a woman of lower class. Even with
him loving her, all because she was of middle class he would and could not see a future with her. But
the other problem lies with the treatment of women. The viewing down on them because of their
gender bias. Now in our time, we can see the big change in how women were treated, but during the
time Sherlock Holmes was written, this was relevant in his stories. We see this scattered in the story as
Irene Adler, the female protagonist is viewed as less to the characters but is proven as the best plans of
Mr. Sherlock Holmes were beaten by a woman s wit. (Doyle 13) It s obvious to include this story as
an outlet to show the wrongdoings of his time. For this, it allows readers to see what s erroneous and

They resisted on pop up advertising, they felt that it was annoying to the users they insisted they
would have sponsored links for their advertising. They really wanted to put emphasize on improving
customer experience than putting the revenue first. In order to compete with Microsoft and Yahoo,
Google wanted to employ the power of differentiation to create a competitive advantage over its
competitors. They wanted the advantage of having faster response times, and greater scalability at
lower costs on which making them the most used search engines in the world.

The way of salvation is the way of suffering could often be heard mumbled from Dostoyevsky s

Dostoyevsky most likely modeled Crime and Punishment after his own experiences. Since the two

Themes Of A Small, Good Thing Essay
Themes in A Small, Good Thing Life consists of persistence and lethargy; patience and tragedy;
felicity and suffering; experiences and failures; ups and downs; and accepting the good with the bad
and the bad along with the good. These details create slices of life moments in our lives. As we read
Raymond Carver s short stories, we see these beautiful moments come to pass. One of the short stories
that presented this was A Small, Good Thing , where Carver demonstrates occurring themes of
loneliness and helplessness, limitations of communication, and human connections to create multiple
slices of life moments. Loneliness/Helplessness The theme of loneliness and helplessness occurs often
throughout A Small, Good Thing . Raymond introduces us to the baker, who lives a lonely life. There
is no trace of other coworkers that work him and we do not have much of a background story of him.
Whenever the baker is mentioned in the story, we get the impression that he is at the bakery 24/7. The
baker says What do you want at this hour. It s midnight...I work day and night here, trying to make

any signs of him having a partner. Throughout the story, the theme of helplessness is also present. Ann

The Importance Of Identity
Identity is a word that can have many multiple meanings depending on who you ask. The word
identity can have a different meaning for an immigrant, it can be influenced by childhood events,
politics, and it can cause you to question what do you call home. To some identity means who you are,
where you are from, and what you believe. Tan Le, an immigrant from Vietnam, shares her story of
immigrating to the United States. She explains that the person she is today is based on the lesson she
learned from her journey. Tan believes that if you lose your identity you lose your sense of integrity
and who you are. Next, Andrew Solomon states that some people can see your identity as an illness or
condition. He talks about how being gay or having illness such as Down Syndrome or deafness are
considered identities. Elif Shafak argues in her TED talk that people can become encircled by their
identity. She states the cultural belongings are fluid and beautiful. Lastly, Pico Iyer explains that

His poems carry powerful messages about getting back to your roots. His poems contain strong themes of anti consumerism and spirituality. Facts is a short piece consisting of facts on consumerism in America. This piece warns of the dangers of over consumption and lack of moderation. In some cases, however, Snyder does appear far too extreme in his views, like in By Frazier Creek Falls where is says We could live on this Earth / Without clothes or tools. They are both telling us that we should not allow consumerism and technology sidetrack us from spirituality and family and nature. Stone uses her own personal experiences for the basis of much of her poetry. Plumbing is a poem about getting her toilet fixed! Another poem, Simplicity , is a poem that describes getting water in the winter when the pipes the lead into her house are frozen. On a literal level, both of these poems are about relatively trivial events in her life, but there are much deeper meanings concealed inside the poems. Snyder s poems are also often centered around his own personal life experiences, which he also uses as a foundation to focus in on a message. The Bath is a narrative poem that describes a scene in which Snyder is bathing with his wife and children. He describes the acts of washing, and describes the area surrounding the tub. This poem shows how important the simple things in life can be. It s also a poem about purification, and about spending time with family members. I believe that Ruth Stone would appreciate this kind of though. After all, one of her collection of poems is titled Simplicity . Total of five employees have been assigned for our group proposal, and each employee has been given brief information about their background. As our group discussion took part, we all started to do our self evaluations about each employee using his/her background information. After the meeting it is imperative that decision reached on the persons to be laid off must be in writing and mailed confidentially to keep all information classified. As I read through each employee s background, I decided to specify their advantages and disadvantages by sorting them into pros and cons. A Short Note On My Performance Improvement Program Essay PE STUDIES INTERNAL Confidence is a key aspect to succeed Confidence Belief in one s own abilities, self trust When going to evaluate the effectiveness of my performance improvement programme I needed to consider the experiences that I found when doing the programme and the trainings. I asked myself when doing this programme like what is required in order to improve my kayaking skill level and is confidence really the key to succeeding in improving my performance. In order to find out this information I needed to be honest and clear in my vision to do this an unbiased judgement is needed in evaluating my progress. A performance improvement programme for me in kayaking is key, due to this sport being relatively new to me having no real experience. It s a good way to introduce me to kayaking because it helps you evaluate new areas of the sport like doing an eskimo roll. A programme like this helps me achieve and evaluate specific goals that are both realistic and achievable over a 6 week course and develop the skills and gain what knowledge is required e.g. hip flicking is the most important aspect in rolling in my opinion. I believe it is important to evaluate yourself at the start of the programme to get a gauge at what type of learning you are at, which in my case it was cognitive stage which is defined as develops the understanding of how to perform the skill. Along the way you might hear a bird singing, feel a rock as you hike a path, taste cold water to replenish your thirst, and see many beautiful sights. The person you are walking with may have a total different experience and sense things that bring pleasure to them that may not to you. There is an old adage that says Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This adage can be debated time and time again. The first things to look at is the definitions of beauty and beholder. The dictionary defines beauty is a combination of qualities that pleases the aesthetic senses ( Beauty ). It doesn t say beauty has to be seen by the eye. Beauty can be combination of our five senses. It can be anything we can see, touch, taste, feel, or smell. The definition of beholder is a person who observes a sense. The adage Beauty is in the eye of the beholder by definition means that each person sees beauty and can find beauty in different things through their senses ( Beholder ). It creates a very subjective approach to beauty. The adage is true because each person is an individual and has different perspectives and way of sensing. The idea that what pleases one person may not please another is true along this case because not everybody has the same preference to beauty. Refusal of the Potsdam Ultimatum 1.1 The End of the Pacific War As the Second World War was coming to a close, all that was needed for the war to end was the surrender of the Japanese. General Douglas MacArthur stated that he believed that the bomb was completely unnecessary from a military perspective and that Japan was practically defeated. Truman knew that Japan was in danger of losing the war, yet he still chose to make the decision to drop the bomb, which shows there were other factors he took under consideration. Anticipating that the end of the war was near, a meeting was held on the second of July between the United States, the United Kingdom and China in the city of Potsdam. The meeting effectively sent the message to Japan that her main enemies had agreed together on the ultimatum. This is important because it demonstrates the unity of nations involved in the decision about what to do in response to Japan. Those nations were in agreement over the result of the meeting, which led to the creation of the Potsdam Ultimatum. 1.2 The Potsdam Ultimatum The Potsdam Ultimatum was released on July 26th, 1945, outlining the conditions of surrender presented to Japan by the United States, Britain and China. To generate this high revenue, it would be the employees who would be working hard strategically and showing high performances to drive the organization towards achieving that goal. High performance could be achieved only by well motivated people who are prepared to exercise an extra effort. Even in fairly basic roles, there is some level of motivation involved. In a research by Hunter et al (1990), it was found that the difference in value added discretionary performance between superior and standard performers was 19 percent. For highly complex jobs it was 48 per cent. (Armstrong and Armstrong, 2009) To motivate people it is necessary to understand the types of motivation and how it works with each skill level of people. A Superstar s Open Contempt A Superstar s Open Contempt For various folks, the description of the nature of Jesus prevails as a yielding, meek man that merely wants people to be morally, loving toward each other; notwithstanding, this analogy surfaces as being insultingly inadequate. For this man, if you want to call Him a man, shined as a towering superstar and labored continually to tolerate people s ignorance and stupidity. Throughout the four gospels, from the Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5 7), to all of His teachings and parables, He does expound on people to strive to better their brotherly love, ethics, morals, etc., speaking quite compassionately; while focusing mainly on people s spiritual transformations, becoming born again. (John 3:3) Nevertheless, looking closer, there occur matters that exhibit disregard and possibly open contempt numerous times (Matt 10:21, 10:34 38), even towards His own mother (Matt 12:46 50, Mar 3:31 35, John 2:4); in addition, He demonstrates a temper to the point of killing a barren fig tree (Matt 21:18 21; Mark 11:12 14; 11:20 21). Moreover, Jesus persists as constantly attacking people for their erroneous beliefs, and other unruly behaviors; such as the Scribes, (Matt 5:20, 23:14 15), the Pharisees, (Matt 23:25, Luke 11:44); the Sadducees, (Matt 16:11 12). He discredits Gentiles, and Samaritans (Matt 10:5); people buying and selling in the temple (Matt 21:12); heathens (Matt 6:7); publicans (Matt 18:17); anyone outside of the house of Israel (Matt 15:24 26); ... Even though he does not have powers, this does not mean that he is weak. First, the occupied world consists of things, each an accumulation of the threads of life, and not of objects which are considered as bounded, independent and absolute entities. To illustrate this, let s consider Vitraya Ramunong or The Tree of Souls (Avatar,2009). Where do the Tree of Souls end and the rest of Pandora begin? Even though the question sounds quite simple, it is not easily answered. We can look at the physical aspects first. Is the giant Willow like tree s bark part of the tree? Are the organisms occupying the bark part of the tree? Are the woodsprites, or seeds, part of the tree? Are the creatures occupying the tree part of the tree? Are the Na vi clans who occupy the tree part of the tree? Is the unobtanium deposit underneath the tree part of the tree? Are the algae growing on and underneath the tree part of the tree? Since of 2012, California has been on a severe four year drought and has had immediate plans and regulations in order to reduce the impact it has. Burma was able to gain its independence from the Great Britain in 1948. Burma became a parliamentary democracy, granting autonomous states to minorities. In 1962 Union Revolutionary Council overthrew the civilian government and suspended the constitution. As a result, the country was under military rule from 1962 to 1988. The military government transitioned to a socialist economy, nationalized all major industries and reduced the foreign influence. Years of military rule and suppression and a failed attempt to move to a multi party election system led to the imposition of economic sanctions to Myanmar. Executive Orders And Their Constitutionality Essay Executive Orders and Their Constitutionality Although nowhere in the Constitution are executive orders explicitly mentioned, Article II, Section I states that The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. The President s power to issue executive orders comes from the Constitution and Congress. Executive orders have the full force of law when they take authority from a legislative power, which grants its power directly to the executive by the Constitution; executive orders do not require congressional approval. Similar to legislative statutes and regulations propagated by government agencies, executive orders are subject to judicial review, meaning that they can be struck down if deemed unconstitutional by the courts. Executive orders are not to be confused with executive agreements. Executive order carries out constitutional powers of the President without having to go through Congress. An executive agreement is an agreement with foreign heads of state concluded by Presidents under their power as Commander in Chief and their general authority in foreign affairs; executive agreements do not require ratification by the Senate. • 28. The West Vs. Reality The West Versus Reality Since the beginning of history, the rise and descent of civilizations has molded history influencing what nations have become today. The approach of using a strong military and a dynamic economy can be seen as template for civilizations when trying to dominate parts of the world since this template has been consistently used. The Clash of Civilizations, an essay by Samuel P. Huntington, argues that, as a result of the Cold War, global politics would be centered around the conflicts between the world s civilizations. Huntington perceives the conflict between Islam and the West an extremely impactful conflict. However, The Clash of Ignorance, a literary piece by Edward W. His argument would have been significantly stronger if he showed the darker side of the West as opposed to making it appear like the West never did anything resulting in a negative impact. Huntington emphasizes the importance of culture within a civilization by describing it as a cultural entity (Huntington 2). Culture, along with history, language, and religion, is what distinguishes civilizations from each other (Huntington 2). Similarly, he speaks about the significance of being aware of one s own civilization and what makes it unique from others. He describes this awareness using term civilization consciousness and believes that this awareness can sometimes lead to conflict (Huntington 3). This idea is similar to the idea of nationalism. Nationalism is commonly used to engender a sense unity within civilizations with the goal of fighting external forces, but nationalism can be certainly dangerous. For instance, in the film Promises and Betrayals, Arabs and Jews had an ongoing conflict after the British promised them their independence, which made them victims of their own sense of nationalism. However, Huntington also mentions actions like Asianization and re Islamization that have the goal of understanding cultural differences showing the non violent side of civilization consciousness (Huntington 4). The truth is that anyone reading this paper from the internet has the right to know that someone thousands of miles away could very well be watching (Orwell). On top of this shocking fact, a victim would never even know they were being watched. George Orwell knew what he was talking about when he wrote of a society in which all things are monitored by the government and an individual s right to privacy is breached for the sake of peace and safety. Maybe government does have the right to obtain what they want for their discretion, and we should trust that they will not abuse that power. It is true that the people of America do not know the plans of various government agencies, and perhaps it is best that we accept that and let them do their work. Besides, just imagine all of the terrorist attacks and other incidents that will be prevented by these national security measures. While all these points are logical, they re missing the point. Ignorance is not bliss, and a privacy invasion such as one that is occurring now cannot continue. These national security measures are slowly eating away our basic freedoms and liberties. We cannot just let this pass by and become blasé on the matter; it needs to be understood that there is a limit to what is acceptable and that is, what is necessary? He addresses topics such as political structures, the status of women, kinship, linguistics, and economics. The attack killed thousands of Americans, and put the country in a state of panic and scare. One reason for this attack was that Islamics were angered that the U.S had troops on the soil of Saudi Arabia, which was regarded as sacred. Farook and Malik, of the San Bernardino attacks, are examples of this. In my opinion, terrorism is a huge concern for all of the people of our country. I think the United States needs to have better background checks and investigations on immigrants before letting them into our country, and we need to have better online and phone security from the government so they can weed out threatening individuals that are already in the U.S. Without more security, organizations like ISIS or self radicals may extremely harm our country and kill many of the people in ... It was meant to show people, even though others are different, they could be special too. X Men was meant to show it is okay to be different and for your friends to be different. They also do a good job to show that not every difference is physical, several of the characters also look normal but have a mental ability. I think this shows it is okay to have a disability or to be different then other people. Not everyone is going to have the Ideal body or mind and it is okay. Nothing interesting happened (until the end of the movie) and there was nothing that made me (as a viewer) intrigued to continue watching. The separation of the rich and poor detached the people and left them in two separate worlds. The story intermingles the King of Bohemia with a middle class woman named Irene Adler. This affair turned bad when he left her for a Scandinavian princess, so he wouldn t be shunned for marrying a woman of lower class. Even with him loving her, all because she was of middle class he would and could not see a future with her. But the other problem lies with the treatment of women. The viewing down on them because of their gender bias.
