Walmart And Macy s Retail Stores
The two retail stores I have selected are JCPenny and Macy s. These two retail stores can be found
together at many malls. For example, Westfield South Shore Mall in Bayshore on Long Island
contains both JCPenny and Macy s. Although they are not directly next to each other they are most
certainly competitors. They contain many of the same brands however they both have a different
approach to how they display the brand. I focused on Levi s for men and within the Levi s department
there was other garments and accessories other than jeans. The assortment in JCPenny was clearly
superior. Other than jeans they had long sleeves, graphic long sleeves, flannels, winter jackets, denim
jackets, socks, underwear, belts, and a variety of hats. Every section was well stocked and had
numerous different sizes. In addition every style was placed on its correct rack or shelf. Macy s on the
other hand, was very unorganized. It was quite hard to determine what style I was looking at because
nothing was where it belonged and there was pile of pants just thrown onto display tables. However
they did have a small selection of ski hats, very few belts, underwear, thermals, and winter jackets.
The only thing that seemed fully stocked was the men s underwear however I was only able to reach
from the side because there was a cart blocking my reach. The cart was stocked with various different
styles and colors of jeans that were just left there. The layout in JCPenny was much more appealing

My Nightmare Short Story
Living my nightmare. I am a sophomore at Sacred Heart University In Fairfield Connecticut. My
home is Trumbull Connecticut. I had dreams to adventure as far away as possible for school. I had
dreams of traveling and seeing the world and using my education as my excuse. But, I am a commuter
at Sacred Heart University and travel all of 12 minutes to get from my home to my education. How all
my dreams to get away came spiraling down is my story. My college story did not begin 12 minutes
away from home. My story started off as pursuing my dream of traveling, even if it was only three
hours from home. I spent one semester, four months, in which I thought was my dream. I am
independent, I am spontaneous and I am adventurous, or so I thought. Living my dream was the only
way I found out that I was small and shy. I was an outcast how terrifying. I started at Seton Hall
University, in South Orange New Jersey, where I found out that living my dream meant living with
four other girls, that sucked. I was used to living with one other girl in the room, my sister. But that is
my sister and who cares if she liked to sleep with the TV on, I was turning it off and would fight with
her about turning to back on with no shame. But, I was living with unfamiliar hair swimming in the
shower I was supposed to get clean in. I was able to smell disgusting smells from the bathroom while
laying in my perfume sprayed room. I had strangers (my roommate s friends) watching me while I
slept when I

The Complications Of Kidney Failure
The Complications of Kidney Failure and How Hemodialysis Works to Fix Them

Kidney Dialysis
Kidney failure is deadly disease if not treated immediately.
When functioning normally, the kidneys clean the blood of waste and other fluids, but when they fail
the kidneys can t clean it. This is where kidney dialysis comes in.
Kidney dialysis is the method that is used to clean the blood of waste and other fluids.
Dialysis is often a last resort for people that are undergoing kidney failure.
Possible Complications of Kidney Failure
Anemia and Erythropoietin (EPO)
Erythropoietin is produced by the kidneys and is the hormone that regulates the production of red
blood cells. The kidneys don t make enough erythropoietin, so there are fewer blood cells, which can
lead to anemia.
Renal Osteodystrophy
Since the kidneys can t regulate the proper chemical levels in the blood during kidney failure, the
bones don t get enough calcium and other chemicals to keep them strong.
Hyperkalemia
When the kidneys fail, it runs the risk of high levels of potassium, which can influence many factors
that are dangerous.
Uremic Acidosis
In kidney failure, toxic waste can build up in the blood, which normally the kidneys would absorb and
then filter out if they were functioning normally.
Functions of the Kidneys and an Overview of Hemodialysis
The kidneys are responsible for removing waste and

Cajun American Culture
Death of Cajun America Most historical landmarks that once stood in Lafayette stands in ruins as the
lack of funding to preserve them is spent elsewhere. Along with the modern culture redefining
celebrations such as Mardi Gras to be a revenue income for the state. The true meaning will never be
the same. The culture can be traced back to its routes with the people who once celebrated the event.
But with more job in the area requiring English to be spoken. The native tongue has been ripped out of
the land. Leaving the language and culture to suffer with no one to translate written documents that
pertain to recreating it. Cajun Culture and the Cajun language has been slowly fading away like a

With English speaking taking over the Cajun language suffers. With 18,000 out of the 700,000 people
who live in the Cajun Country today still speak the native language. (History of Cajun Country, 2006).
Cajun French was made from African, Spanish, Native American and English origins. The language
that was spoken widely by the settlers has fallen by great numbers. One of the main reasons the
number has lower is because anyone who spoke the language from 1916 to the 1960s was punished
for speaking it or learning it. Luther Hall that was elected as governor in 1912 made new acts to make
English the primary language spoken. In 1916 Act 27 was turned into law. The Act forces all children
to attend public schools where English was taught and only spoken. This made the children who were
raised in households that spoke Cajun French to learn English. (History of the Cajuns: Encyclopedia
of Cajun Life,2009) This resulted in the future leaders and workers learning English rather their own.
If any student or citizen spoke their native language, they were to be punished. Some say that they
were to write 100 times so they won t speak it again or get hit on their knuckles with a stick (paulet in
Cajun French). This leads to Cajun French to fade away. It was not till 1968 when CODOFIL (Council
for the Development of French in Louisiana) that was made to bring French back in the schools

Human Habitat And Its Effects On Earth
Mars Habitat Elizabeth *I know it is too many words but this note and all of the sources added words
To sustain a long term human presence on Mars, a standard human habitat would require many things.
There are more problematic issues that occur on Mars than Earth. To begin the whole topic, let s start
with our requirements here on Earth. We need food, water, sewage, a source of energy and shelter to
survive. On Mars, all of the above is required and more. Astronauts will also need oxygen, air pressure
control, communication with those on earth and extra shelter from the climate. If one of these
requirements is not met, whomever is on Mars can die.
Shelter: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/picture galleries/11896687/Top 10 Mars habitats from
NASA space habitat challenge.html
On Mars, many environments and climates don t exist as on Earth so we need to adapt Mars habitat so
that it can withstand the possible harsh conditions. Strong structures are a necessity because winds and
freezing temperatures can destroy the habitat. A habitat on Mars would need to be airtight, sturdy and
pumped with breathable air without exploding or leaking. We decided to make our habitat in an
underground donut form with separation for separate rooms. The fact that it is underground will help
with temperature control and protect from sudden winds and storms. With the

The Valley Of The Shadow Archives
The Valley of the Shadow The Valley of the Shadow archives is an online database that has digitally
archived diaries, letters, and newspapers from two neighboring counties, Augusta County, Virginia and
Franklin County, Pennsylvania during the Civil War era in the United States. Separated by the Mason
Dixon Line, a line which marked the geography between southern slave states and northern free slave
states, disconnected the southern Augusta County and the northern Franklin County. The archives
focus on the Pre war, war time, and post war views of the Counties inhabitants based on religion,
economy, family life, and their controversial views on slavery. These insights give modern day
historians the ability to piece together what life was actually like for the residents of the opposing
Counties. One of the most influential controversies between the north and the south is the abolition of
slavery, the north being for the freeing of slaves, and the south being for the retention and expansion
of slavery. The economic stability that slavery provided for southern states was a driving force for the
southern front, while the concept of emancipation drove the northern front to fight for the abolition of
slavery all together. This ultimately leads to the Southern succession from the Union and spawns the
Civil War, thus separating Augusta and Franklin County. Therefore, the central idea of this essay is to
show the opposing attitudes of Augusta County and Franklin County, in

Of Sandra Cisneros s Only Daughter And The Parable Of The...
Repetition, repetition is the key to live a life full of happiness. According to Aristotle s definition of
happiness, happiness is a life filled with virtuous activities. To live a life of virtue, one s action must
be a habit. Therefore We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit . In
Cisneros Only Daughter and in The Parable of the Prodigal Son, they show virtue through family love
and courage. Sandra Cisneros in Only Daughter is a young Mexican woman who is the only daughter
in a family of six sons. Ever since she was a young girl, all that Cisneros wanted was to win his
approval (Cisneros, 367). Everything Cisneros has ever written since graduating college has been for

The Prodigal Son believed that he is no longer worthy (Luke 15:20) to be called his father s son after
his actions. With this in mind, his father did the opposite of what the Prodigal Son thought that he
would do and welcomed his son with open arms. Family love is shown through the actions of the
Prodigal Son s father as his father forgave his sons actions by welcoming him back into the family.
Not only that, his father also offered everything he had. Although these two characters did not face the
same situations, Sandra Cisneros and the Prodigal Son s both showed examples of what family love
was. Sandra Cisneros and the Prodigal Son further displayed virtue through the actions of courage.
Cisneros displayed courage by not following the path that her father set for her. Her father s main goal
for Sandra was to find a suitable husband to marry. Her father s idea of a husband is someone who
would allow Cisneros to live a suitable life without having to mainly use her hands, but to utilize her
brain. Her father did not want their children to have hands that have been stubbed by a history of
hammer and nails (Cisneros, 368). Although her father had good intentions by only wanting what was
best for his children, Cisneros took a different path and wanted to chase her own ambitions. Women
were often meant to marry and be taken care of by a caring husband. Sandra Cisneros did not

Why Is College Valuable Essay
Every year thousands of high school seniors are faced with a decision. They could either go to college
or choose an alternative. For some, this choice is easy, they know exactly where they are going and
exactly how to do it. Others not so much. Some students try really hard to get into certain colleges and
they don t, others just quite literally don t know what to do with their lives and they end up doing
nothing. College is not valuable because there are many jobs that do not require college, and college
has caused drug and alcohol abuse, also, college isn t meant for everyone, and the people it s meant
for are mainly in the upper class.
There are many reasons why college is not valuable. One reason is that many students that attend
college are from rich families that send them on trips and donate money to the colleges and mainly,
they can afford to send their child to a four year college. According to Richard Vedder, They make
generous contributions to the elite colleges they once attended, to which their kids are applying... as
well as, The biggest absurdity is that a four year college degree has become the only gateway into the
American middle class. So basically if a student s parent isn t rich or did not go to a prestigious
college it is very unlikely for their child to attend one. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

schools. So, even though there are colleges that are more affordable for less advantaged students, it is
still quite difficult for them and it just adds MORE stress to the whole

Faneul Hall Research Paper
It was 1742 when the first town hall in Boston was opened. It was named Faneuil Hall which was
often referred to as the Cradle of liberty. Faneuil Hall served as a market place and a meeting hall
during the mid seventeen hundreds and is still in use now as a public meeting place for the people of
boston. It all started when a wealthy Bostonian Merchant named Peter Faneuil came up with the idea
of building a marketplace in Boston. After much debate, Boston accepted Faneuil s proposal. Once it
was built, the town government also used the marketplace as a meeting space. The lower lever of the
hall was divided into stalls which were exclusively for market purposes. In the market, meat,
vegetable, and dairy products were sold. On the second floor, ... Show more content on

This was the place where the first ideas of the American Revolution were thought of. Originally, the
town meetings held in Faneuil Hall was only meant to concern the townspeople and possibly
neighboring area. But in the mid 1700s, the discussions that went on in Faneuil hall led to the taxation
policies of the British empire. Thus becoming a center of revolutionary activity in Boston. The debates
sometimes led to incidents of violence on the streets and under the leadership of James Otis, Samuel
Adams, Dr. Joseph Warren and other Sons of Liberty debates led to opposition to the Sugar Tax of
1764, the Stamp Act of 1765, and other British political maneuvers. In the December of 1773,
meetings that took place here concerned a new tax on tea from the British government and the tax to
be paid on it. Although this town hall was meant to concern one community, Boston reports were
spread throughout the colonies and led them towards unity and independence. All activities here game
Faneuil Hall its name as America s Cradle of Liberty . After America gained its independence from
Great Britain in the revolution, the size of Faneuil hall was not enough to meet the needs of the

Essay on Pool Scenes in The Graduate
Pool Scenes in The Graduate
At first glance it may seem that the swimming pool in Ben?s backyard is no more than an insignificant
setting choice for the movie. After close examination, however, the pool fills a critical role as the
symbol of the recent college graduate?s internal struggle with decisions regarding his future. Key
scenes involving the swimming pool and the related aquarium in Ben?s room chronicle the evolution
of his transition from adolescents into adulthood.
The opening scene of the movie in which Ben?s face is visible through the glass of his aquarium tank
demonstrates his role as an adolescent upon arriving home from college. This is, however, only
recognizable in a later scene taking place at the party his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Robinson?a friend of his parents. This woman, the same age as his mother, becomes the catalyst for
Ben?s eventual transition into adulthood. The first evidence of this is after Mrs. Robinson requests a
ride home from Ben; she tosses her car keys to him but instead of landing in Ben?s hands, the keys fall
into his fish aquarium. The emphasis of this action in the movie by a zoom in and pause on the tank
demonstrates its importance as Ben?s childhood life, signified by the aquarium, has just been
contaminated. The encounter foreshadows the loss of innocence that Ben experiences with his sexual
relationship with Mrs. Robinson after she seduces him. At first, however, Ben does not give into her
advances rejecting the idea of adult behaviors like an affair with a married woman.
Resistance to growing up is further evident in his 21st birthday party at his parent?s home. This age
has long had social significance in our culture?with the age comes freedom to drink, the end of
childhood, and most significantly for Ben, the official and very public entrance into the adult world.
After receiving a wet suit and scuba gear for his birthday, Ben?s parents ask him to take a swim in the
pool to show off his new gift in front of the party guests. Objecting heavily, his father coerces him
until he makes the walk from the house and enters the pool in his gear, obliging the crowd of his
parents? friends. Eager to watch Ben find direction and become

Mining of Tin
Tin Tin is one of the oldest elements that has been used and mined by mankind. Tin is used as cans in
the food industry, construction products, oil filter in the automobile industry, and miscellaneous
applications, such as cookie pans, furnace filters, toys and bulletin board. The chemical symbol for tin
is Sn which originated from the latin word Stannum which means tin in latin. After Britain was
invaded by Anglo Saxon, Stannum was changed to tin which we have been using until today. Tin is a
white, silvery and soft element. It has an atomic number and an atomic weight of 118.70. The melting
point of tin is 505.8K, and tin exist as a solid in room temperature. In the periodic table, tin is in
period 5, group 4. Tin is an element which is rust and corrode resistant element. It will dissolve easily
in concentrated acid and will also react with halogens to from other compound. In the earth s crust,
pure tin is not abundant. It was estimated that only 1 to 2ppm of pure tin exists in the earth s crust. Tin
usually exists in a form of tin oxide (SnO2), which is commonly none as Cassiterite. The colour of

Truman Capote s Cold Blood
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is considered one of the first novels to establish a new genre. Capote
combined fictional elements to a real crime story that set the groundwork for future true crime novels.
The foundation of the story is the tragic murder of the Clutter family, Herbert, Bonnie, Nancy, and
Kenyon, and the effect it had on small town of Holcomb, Kansas. In Cold Blood is a journalistic novel
that has the credibility of fact, the immediacy of film, the depth and freedom of prose, and the
precision of poetry, . Throughout the novel, Capote switches between the perspective of the killers, the
victims, and those who live in the town. This creates a unique and at times truly staggering parallel
that ultimately forces the reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This contrast can first be seen in the descriptions of Herbert Clutter, the father of the Clutter family,
who was cut a man s man figure. His shoulders were broad... his square jawed confident face retained
a healthy hued youthfulness, (Capote 6) and Dick Hickock, his face, which seemed composed of
mismatching parts... the lips were slightly aslant, the nose askew, and his eyes not only situated at
uneven levels but of uneven size, (Capote 31) and Perry Smith, his chunky, dwarfish legs, broken in
five places and pitifully scarred, still pained him so severely, (Capote 31). Mr. Clutter, in perfect health
condition, was considered to be traditionally handsome . Whereas Dick and Perry both are scarred by
prior vehicle crashes with some part of their body maimed and permanently changed for the worse as
a result. As well as littered with tattoos across their face and arms, they are, in a sense, the exact
opposite of Mr. Clutter. Due to Mr. Clutter being described with positive traits the reader is more
likely to trust, and therefore sympathize with him. In direct opposition to how Dick and Perry were
described with mostly negative traits. The reader is less likely to trust them, but instead pin them as
the bad guys without any knowledge of their past or their future actions. These completely opposing

Taking A Look At The Big Five TV Channels
In the beginning
Not so long ago there once existed a square looking piece of equipment that ran on old analogue
technology that had pride of place amongst the furniture where all the family would sit ready to watch
their favourite programmes that the broadcast stations dictated should be aired for public
consumption. Due to lack of choice these companies had an ability to affect viewer s decision
processes through specifically defined content with minimal provision without real time viewer
interaction. This activity was a one way interaction process that was ruled by very few companies that
owned a monopoly amongst themselves obtaining revenue through guaranteed licensing of the
viewers and income through advertising where these companies could by and large predict high
viewing figures and ratings due to a lack of alternative sources of broadcasting elsewhere.
These companies had few competitors and within the UK alone there existed the big 5 channels
competing for viewers, rights to hold specific events, predominantly sporting events and advertisers
were confident of knowing that a large proportion of viewers would be watching these events and
would therefore provide a readymade audience that would see their product or service and provide
potential new sales within a defined. TV broadcasting stations were sitting comfortably, until the
advent of the digital revolution and the age of the ever increasing usage of the internet. However,
major changes became inevitable

Speech On Dainty Jewelry
before leaving home, always take a last look in the mirror and take the last piece off Coco Chanel.
Surely, the pioneer of woman fashion didn t see the dainty jewelries coming to rule the world. Or else,
she would ve advised the opposite.
less is more no matter how much clichéd it is, it is true to the point. And, when it comes to jewelry,
trust me, it s the best approach. Women love jewelry. The more we get, the happier we become. But
please, we don t collect them to wear all of them together! After all, you really don t want to get
hidden behind your jewelry. And, here comes the role played by dainty jewelry in the world of fashion
today.
Dainty over Fine Jewelry
Recently, a picture of a bride went viral. She was covered in gold jewelry from head to below her
knees. But unfortunately, it only highlighted the wealth of the groom and, hid the bride herself. Ask
yourself, how many of you want that? I am sure none, if you consider yourself fashion conscious.
Well, dainty jewelry used in everyday fashion may not be an option for our traditional weddings; but
chic, light weight jewelries definitely are. The best thing about this dainty jewelry is that it fits
perfectly with all types of attires. The most interesting fact about it is that it doesn t usually create a

thread, wood, straw, non jewel stone, bids, coconut shell, sea shell etc. are really regular in making

if you are wearing shell or clay jewelry to office or any formal occasion, then there s a red flag for
you. Similarly, if you are trying traditional Bangladeshi outfits, then going for these items are the best
options instead of delicate chain pearl made

Hey, shut up. You re not going to die yet. You ll see where we re going soon, before my mind could

Part III of this Comment will analyze the liabilities of voluntary prescription in the industry. Due to

Part IV of this Comment will recommend definitive solutions for the green bond industry. First, the

Home Inspectors Importance
What To Expect: Home buyers sometimes buy their home in on impulse. Home inspectors can help
home buyers avoid buyers remorse by reporting on home defects and problems before the home buyer
finds them after closing. Professional home inspectors assist home buying clients with the tools they

Home buyers must take care to hire the most experienced home inspector they can afford and make

The Impact Of The Dada And Cubist Movement
The 1920 s became an iconic era in the world of art as it was a generation that revolutionized the way
art was defined all over the artistic and expressive world. The artistic elements of the Dada and Cubist
movements were combined and manipulated to form and create the Surrealist movement, which was
primarily rejected as an art movement due to its abnormality and synthetic representation, but its
iconic ideas and unique techniques paved the way for a new form of art where artists developed a new,
appalling and unique style of their own.
Surrealist artists would expand their minds further to welcome other depictions of reality which
inspired them to create visual representations of their subconscious mind. The works of various artists,

While surrealism plummeted downwards with the coming of the Second World War, Cubism lived on
and continued its legacy in the world of art over many years which in turn influenced many of the
succeeding art movements and also helped to progress abstract art in its future.
During the Cubist era, another form of art was created, namely that of Dadaism(1916 1924), which
later on became a pillar to the construction of the birth of Surrealism. When looking closely at both of
these movements, both Dada and Surrealism were artistic, literary and intellectual movements of the
early 20th century and were a great contribution to, later on, define Modernism.
Launched in 1916 in Zurich by the poets and artists such as Tristan Tzara and Hans Arp, the Dada
movement represented and conveyed a direct reaction to the slaughter, propaganda, and insanity of
World War 1. Various independent groups that conveyed similar and common ideas about Dadaism,
did not share a universal style but were rather connected by their rejection of idealism and the
unchecked embrace of rationalism and

How Does Camille Preaker s Role Change Throughout The Novel
Throughout the novel Sharp Objects main character Camille Preaker, is faced with many obstacles in
life: lies, betrayal, death, depression, etc. Except for turning the other cheek and accepting her
imperfections Camille throws in the white flag instead and lets all the negative things dawn on her.
Ever since Camille was 13 years of age she had been cutting words into her body. Due to self harm,
the cutting eventually sent her to a psychiatric hospital for 6 months. At the age of 30 Camille had got
a job as a journalist and a staff reporter for the fourth best newspaper in Chicago. Her editor Frank
Curry who helped her in recovery and was pretty much the only person that she s ever told about her
cutting asks about her hometown Wind Gap in Missouri. Camille tells him the basics and how she left
the town just 8 years earlier with her sanity barely intact. Nevertheless, there was an investigation
going on in the town and he wanted Camille to cover it. There s a 10 year old girl missing in Wind
Gap, the second in two years, he tells her. Just a year earlier a 9 year old girl was found strangled in a

Essay on Amy Tan’s A Mother’s Tongue
Amy Tan s A Mother s Tongue
The purpose of Amy Tan s essay, Mother Tongue, is to show how challenging it can be if an individual
is raised by a parent who speaks limited English (36) as Tan s mother does, partially because it can
result in people being judged poorly by others. As Tan s primary care giver, her mother was a
significant part of her childhood, and she has a strong influence over Tan s writing style. Being raised
by her mother taught her that one s perception of the world is heavily based upon the language spoken
at home. Alternately, people s perceptions of one another are based largely on the language used.
Tan was born to a pair of Chinese immigrants. Her mother understood English extremely well, but ...

This was because her mother s version of English and its modified rules caused Tan to be confused on
some of the questions.
Tan employs cause and effect when she is talking about her experiences with IQ tests and the SATs.
The fact that her mother spoke English the way she did made it very difficult for Tan to envision what
the test was asking, as with the questions where she could not identify one singular correct answer. In
her experience with language, maybe she had heard her mother would say something a certain way,
even though, technically, it was not grammatically correct. Her perceptions of things, specifically the
rules of language, were different because of the language used at her home.
She also incorporates problem and solution when she is describing how she had to talk for her mother.
Her belief is that people will not take you seriously if you do not speak proper English, and to prove
this, she shows how her mother encountered that kind of attitude often. Tan describes how she had to
call the stockbroker because her mother was concerned about not getting a check, and how the
hospital would not look for a lost CAT scan until Tan was called to mediate. Even though the mother
speaks English, Tan still needs to act as a translator.
Compare and contrast comes in to play at the very beginning of the essay when Tan is describing her
mother listening to her giving a lecture.

A Research On Big Data
Big Data is a term for very large amounts of formal and informal information that can be analyzed to
find trends and patterns. The information can be about anything, but it needs to be processed in a way
that will give it value and relevance. It can come in multiple formats and from different sources such
as large databases, electronic records, social media, mobile phones, apps, wearable devices such as
pedometers, and others. Different data sets are combined and contrasted in different ways to give
perspectives and insights about a topic. It can be used in a seemly endless number of ways and people
are discovering new ways to use it all the time, some of them entertaining. The largest areas of use
include those relating to consumer behavior and choices, business procedures, healthcare, science and
research, and law enforcement. People are also discovering its use in their personal lives as well for
things like buying a home, dating, fitness routines and travel. With all the potential benefits that can
come from big data, however, it also brings a big potential for privacy problems. Extensive personal
data can be gathered about people that can be used or abused. In an interview with Harvard Business
Review, With Big Data Comes Big Responsibility, Professor Alex Sandy Pentland from MIT talks
about his New Deal on Data to address data collection and privacy. The concept is a set of principles

The Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster Essay

Seventy three seconds into its 10th flight, on January 28, 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger broke
apart over the Atlantic Ocean, killing the seven crew members on board [1]. The Challenger was the
second space shuttle constructed by NASA and had completed nine successful missions prior to the
disaster. Following the accident, the shuttle program was suspended for 32 months as President
Ronald Regan appointed a Commission, chaired by William P. Rogers and known as the Rogers
Commission, to investigate the cause of the accident [1].

At the time, NASA s goal was two reach two launches per month, a goal that well exceeded the budget
and training facilities available [2].
The night before the launch, a teleconference between Thiokol and NASA was held to address the
concerns regarding the performance of the SRB O ring seal in cold weather. Thiokol recommended
that the launch be postponed since there was no data available for temperatures below 53°F [2]. After
internal discussions in the Thiokol group, senior management eventually endorsed the launch,
recommending it to proceed, reversing their original decision [2]. Rockwell, the shuttle s primary
contractor, did not support the launch due to the possibility of ice leaving the structure and damaging
the thermal shield tiles during takeoff. Their concerns were relayed to NASA, but in such a way that
NASA chose to proceed with the launch [2]. Though this was eventually determined to be a non issue
in the Challenger launch, the true nature of the problems that can occur when an object strikes the
shuttle during takeoff would not be learned until 2003, when the space shuttle Columbia disintegrated
on re entry due to damage of a heat shield tile that occurred during takeoff [2] [3].
Despite the concerns raised, the Challenger was launched on January 28, 1986 [4]. Seventy three

Lack Provision Of Health Services
Adequate provision of health services in low and middle income countries poses a considerable
challenge to governments of the same. Global health policy is currently shifting from centering around
older top down and vertical disease programmes, to more horizontally integrated programmes that are
re focusing on Primary Health Care. Community participation is a popular concept, where
involvement of the community is considered one of the foundational principles of Primary health care
(Bath and Wakerman, 2013). Thus, it is important to understand whether and how communities can
successfully participate in determining how health services are delivered at the local level.
To do so, it is important to begin by understanding what community participation means, which is
what this essay seeks to do first. It will then demonstrate through examples that communities can and
have successfully participated in determining how health services are delivered at the local level. It
will subsequently also show that, despite these apparent successes, it is difficult to assess the effects of
community participation in delivery of health services. The essay will conclude with the assessment
that though there are questions about the exact mechanisms through which community participation
operates, its value in demanding and delivering health services should not be underestimated. The
concept of community participation gained traction in the international arena after the Declaration of

Roe V. Wade Analysis
I. Introduction This paper will look at arguments that scholars, especially Catherine MacKinnon and
Reva Siegel, offer in support of the view that the principle of equal protection is better than the
Supreme Court s principle of privacy related liberty as the constitutional grounds for abortion rights.
The United States Supreme Court held in Roe v. Wade that the right of privacy also includes a woman
s right to get an abortion. Abortion policy involves women s privacy and equality (Siegel 1992). A
constitutional analysis of abortion that draws on the language from the Fourteenth Amendment of
liberty and equal protection would work well with the reality that many of the key concerns behind
personal privacy arguments are like. I think that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wade decision inspires many types of analyses, solutions, and criticisms. One solution is that the
Court could shift its focus in abortion cases and view abortion rights as raising issues of inequality.
This would mean to present the issue of a woman s right to take complete charge of her life and
destiny as well as of her position in society in relation to man. This approach is probably the most
appropriate solution to the dilemma in Roe because it avoids the trimester analysis and avoids the due

The Light Brigade Comparison

25th, 1854 in Balaclava, Russia. The soldiers went on rode the six hundred. Into the valley of death.
` My thoughts about that us that The 600 men who rode into that war compared to the movie were are
a lot more deadly than described in the poem. The courage Michael had was crazy from listening to

sacrifices is the main idea. Michael engendered this story to existence. The poem and the movie were
really diverse during the story. The cannon fire flourished, left, right everywhere around the soldiers
the war blaze and total mass chaos.
The result of the war was 278 deaths of British Light Brigade soldiers. Observing the charge a french
marshal remarked: it is magnificent, but it is not war. It is madness. When news of this reached
London there was a national scandal. Tennyson wrote a poem for the 600 rode on.

Love And Marriage In Pride And Prejudice And Bridget...
ESSAY
The context of a novel or film can greatly affect the values of society through the key concepts of love
and marriage, and feminine appearance of a woman. We can clearly observe the comparisons of Jane
Austen s 1813 novel Pride and Prejudice to Sharon Maguire s 1997 film Bridget Jone s Diary. The
novel Pride and Prejudice was composed in the Regency period where marriage was vitally important
for a woman as it meant a financially stable future, and usually not based on love, whereas Bridget
Jones Diary set in a contemporary society where woman married for love and were economically
independent. However, both text explores similar aspects where both heroine challenges the
expectations of women and both are not constrained by the strict social conformity of a woman.
To marry a wealthy man was the only option for women to guarantee a life without economic
concerns and this is explored in the opening line of It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single
man in possession of a good fortune, must in want of a wife where Jane Austen uses verbal irony as it
is not the man seeking a woman, but the other way around. Woman could only consider marrying a
man if he is considered as the rightful property . The use of personification emphasizes that men were
only determined as a property and to provide a financially secure future. In the novel, the Bennet
sisters had to gain financial status through marriage, but Elizabeth did not want to marry based upon
wealth. When

Today the Chinese population still follows these traditions with a few small exceptions of modern
times. All elders are given respect in the Chinese society, those living or deceased. There is a question
that still remains in this culture on how to prepare a funeral of unmarried adults and children. No
respect is given to a person who died as a bachelor or bachelorette, or if they did not have children.
They are not considered an elder and do not have children that prepare the funeral for them. Children
are also shown no respect because they do not have anyone to prepare their death ritual. They are left
at their funeral home and the family members preform these burials in silence. The children in
Chinese families prepare funerals for elders. It is considered proper for the children of the deceased to
go into debt in order to pay respect for the older people at the funeral. The body of the dead must be
washed with care, dusted with talcum powder, and dressed in the nicest clothes from the personal
wardrobe before being placed in the casket for burial. All of the other clothing that belongs to the
deceased elder must be burned. The deceased is never dressed in red because it is believed that it will
turn the corpse into a ghost. The body is placed on a yellow cloth with the face covered, and then the
body is covered with a blue cloth. All statues of deities are covered with red paper and all mirrors are
removed from site in the home when preparing the home for the death ritual. The mirror is removed so
that no one sees the coffin in the mirror. If someone sees the coffin in the mirror, it is believed that you
will have a death within your own family soon. A white cloth is hung in the doorway and a gong is

profile from my placement will be developed and described using Competing Values Framework, as
this is the most effective model that helps leaders think differently about value creation and shows
them how to clarify purpose, integrate practices, and lead people in an organisation. Competing Values

shown with phytoplankton can be seen by zooplankton in that the number of species decreased while
the amount of them increased. The amount of zooplankton increased from around 2,000 to around
23,000, from 1950 to 1980, respectively. [4] The loss of indigenous fish life has been seen over the
same time frame but another factor might have played a bigger role than the lake eutrofication, this
factor is that the lake was introduced with a number of exotic species that have become dominate over
the indigenous ones. The problem of phosphorus eutrofication has also hindered the use of lake water
to be used as potable water. There is a major problem within the area of Lake Dianchi because most of
the surrounding areas use this water for agriculture and domestic purposes. The phosphorus levels
have gotten so high that basic filters can t purify the water to safe levels.

Gerontological Nursing Essay
Aging is a normal part of life. In 2015, the elderly population has increased to 47.8 million and is
expected to be 98 million in the year of 2060 (Administration on Aging (AoA), Administration for
Community Living, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2016). This will lead to a greater
demand of gerontological nurses. Gerontological nursing is important to meet the health needs of the
elderly. The purpose of this post is to discuss the reasons why gerontological nursing is an under
served area of practice and why we need more gerontological nurses.

The American Nurses Association standards describes the practice of nursing and the details
associated with specialty nursing practice (American Nurses Association, 2017). There is a
relationship between A Profile of Older Americans: 2016 and American Nurses Association standards
and Scope of Practice Gerontological Nursing. A Profile of Older Americans: 2016 shows the changes
in demographics of the elderly which helps gerontological nurses tailor specific nursing interventions
to improve rising issues of the elderly. This connection helps provide a better quality of life for older
Americans.
In conclusion, we need more gerontological nurses to take care of the increasing elderly population.
Gerontological nursing is an under served area of practice and having a shortage of gerontological
nurses can effect the care of the elderly. We need more gerontological nurses to help promote healthy
aging and a better quality of life for the population over 65 years old. Persuading nursing students and
increasing interest in this area of nursing may help with the shortage of gerontological

HOW TO BECOME A FOSSIL In reality very few living things become fossils. Not only does a
minute fraction of living things become preserved as fossils, but only an exceedingly small proportion
of the fossils that are preserved end being discovered, collected and studied. Not surprisingly, then that
the fossil record is not entirely representative of the composition of past biological communities (
Behrensmeyer and Hill 1980). Instead, fossil record preserves some organisms more than others.
Taphonomy which is the study of what happens to organism from the time they die to their discovery
is used. This approach may include both the biological and geological processes. Death may come to
the organism in a number of ways including disease, injury and or predation among others. In some
cases, the agent of death such as predators may leave marks on the skeleton such as bite marks. After
death the carcass begins to decompose when living tissues are no longer maintained by the organism,
and numerous microbes such as bacteria and insects accelerate the decomposition process. As the
decomposition goes on, scavenging animals such as hyenas may consume the soft tissues and in some
cases even chew on the bones. Eventually, only the most durable tissues such as dense bones remain.
However, in some cases even the dense bones may disappear due to erosion and trampling. To become
a fossil, part of the organism must be preserved by burial, a natural process by which

For example, Westfield South Shore Mall in Bayshore on Long Island contains both JCPenny and Macy s. Although they are not directly next to each other they are most certainly competitors. They contain many of the same brands however they both have a different approach to how they display the brand. I focused on Levi s for men and within the Levi s department there was other garments and accessories other than jeans. The assortment in JCPenny was clearly superior. Other than jeans they had long sleeves, graphic long sleeves, flannels, winter jackets, denim jackets, socks, underwear, belts, and a variety of hats. Every section was well stocked and had numerous different sizes. In addition every style was placed on its correct rack or shelf. Macy s on the other hand, was very unorganized. It was quite hard to determine what style I was looking at because nothing was where it belonged and there was pile of pants just thrown onto display tables. However they did have a small selection of ski hats, very few belts, underwear, thermals, and winter jackets. The only thing that seemed fully stocked was the men s underwear however I was only able to reach from the side because there was a cart blocking my reach. I had dreams to adventure as far away as possible for school. I had dreams of traveling and seeing the world and using my education as my excuse. But, I am a commuter at Sacred Heart University and travel all of 12 minutes to get from my home to my education. How all my dreams to get away came spiraling down is my story. My college story did not begin 12 minutes away from home. My story started off as pursuing my dream of traveling, even if it was only three hours from home. I spent one semester, four months, in which I thought was my dream. I am independent, I am spontaneous and I am adventurous, or so I thought. Living my dream was the only way I found out that I was small and shy. I was an outcast how terrifying. I started at Seton Hall University, in South Orange New Jersey, where I found out that living my dream meant living with four other girls, that sucked. I was used to living with one other girl in the room, my sister. But that is my sister and who cares if she liked to sleep with the TV on, I was turning it off and would fight with her about turning to back on with no shame. • 4. The Complications Of Kidney Failure The Complications of Kidney Failure and How Hemodialysis Works to Fix Them Katie Sullivan Professor Manny Rodriguez CHE102 002 Parkland College April 2, 2015 Kidney Dialysis Kidney failure is deadly disease if not treated immediately. When functioning normally, the kidneys clean the blood of waste and other fluids, but when they fail the kidneys can t clean it. This is where kidney dialysis comes in. Kidney dialysis is the method that is used to clean the blood of waste and other fluids. Dialysis is often a last resort for people that are undergoing kidney failure. Possible Complications of Kidney Failure Anemia and Erythropoietin (EPO) Erythropoietin is produced by the kidneys and is the hormone that regulates the production of red blood cells. The kidneys don t make enough erythropoietin, so there are fewer blood cells, which can lead to anemia. Renal Osteodystrophy Since the kidneys can t regulate the proper chemical levels in the blood during kidney failure, the bones don t get enough calcium and other chemicals to keep them strong. Hyperkalemia When the kidneys fail, it runs the risk of high levels of potassium, which can influence many factors that are dangerous. Uremic Acidosis In kidney failure, toxic waste can build up in the blood, which normally the kidneys would absorb and then filter out if they were functioning normally. With English speaking taking over the Cajun language suffers. With 18,000 out of the 700,000 people who live in the Cajun Country today still speak the native language. (History of Cajun Country, 2006). Cajun French was made from African, Spanish, Native American and English origins. The language that was spoken widely by the settlers has fallen by great numbers. One of the main reasons the number has lower is because anyone who spoke the language from 1916 to the 1960s was punished for speaking it or learning it. Luther Hall that was elected as governor in 1912 made new acts to make English the primary language spoken. In 1916 Act 27 was turned into law. The Act forces all children to attend public schools where English was taught and only spoken. This made the children who were raised in households that spoke Cajun French to learn English. (History of the Cajuns: Encyclopedia of Cajun Life,2009) This resulted in the future leaders and workers learning English rather their own. If any student or citizen spoke their native language, they were to be punished. There are more problematic issues that occur on Mars than Earth. To begin the whole topic, let s start with our requirements here on Earth. We need food, water, sewage, a source of energy and shelter to survive. On Mars, all of the above is required and more. Astronauts will also need oxygen, air pressure control, communication with those on earth and extra shelter from the climate. If one of these requirements is not met, whomever is on Mars can die. The Valley Of The Shadow Archives The Valley of the Shadow The Valley of the Shadow archives is an online database that has digitally archived diaries, letters, and newspapers from two neighboring counties, Augusta County, Virginia and Franklin County, Pennsylvania during the Civil War era in the United States. Separated by the Mason Dixon Line, a line which marked the geography between southern slave states and northern free slave states, disconnected the southern Augusta County and the northern Franklin County. The archives focus on the Pre war, war time, and post war views of the Counties inhabitants based on religion, economy, family life, and their controversial views on slavery. These insights give modern day historians the ability to piece together what life was actually like for the residents of the opposing Counties. One of the most influential controversies between the north and the south is the abolition of slavery, the north being for the freeing of slaves, and the south being for the retention and expansion of slavery. The economic stability that slavery provided for southern states was a driving force for the southern front, while the concept of emancipation drove the northern front to fight for the abolition of slavery all together. This ultimately leads to the Southern succession from the Union and spawns the Civil War, thus separating Augusta and Franklin County. The emphasis of this action in the movie by a zoom in and pause on the tank demonstrates its importance as Ben?s childhood life, signified by the aquarium, has just been contaminated. Launched in 1916 in Zurich by the poets and artists such as Tristan Tzara and Hans Arp, the Dada movement represented and conveyed a direct reaction to the slaughter, propaganda, and insanity of World War 1. Various independent groups that conveyed similar and common ideas about Dadaism, did not share a universal style but were rather connected by their rejection of idealism and the unchecked embrace of rationalism and ... Essay on Amy Tan’s A Mother’s Tongue Amy Tan s A Mother s Tongue The purpose of Amy Tan s essay, Mother Tongue, is to show how challenging it can be if an individual is raised by a parent who speaks limited English (36) as Tan s mother does, partially because it can result in people being judged poorly by others. As Tan s primary care giver, her mother was a significant part of her childhood, and she has a strong influence over Tan s writing style. Being raised by her mother taught her that one s perception of the world is heavily based upon the language spoken at home. Alternately, people s perceptions of one another are based largely on the language used. Tan was born to a pair of Chinese immigrants. Her mother understood English extremely well, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was because her mother s version of English and its modified rules caused Tan to be confused on some of the questions. Tan employs cause and effect when she is talking about her experiences with IQ tests and the SATs. The fact that her mother spoke English the way she did made it very difficult for Tan to envision what the test was asking, as with the questions where she could not identify one singular correct answer. In her experience with language, maybe she had heard her mother would say something a certain way, even though, technically, it was not grammatically correct. Her perceptions of things, specifically the rules of language, were different because of the language used at her home. She also incorporates problem and solution when she is describing how she had to talk for her mother. Her belief is that people will not take you seriously if you do not speak proper English, and to prove this, she shows how her mother encountered that kind of attitude often. Tan describes how she had to call the stockbroker because her mother was concerned about not getting a check, and how the hospital would not look for a lost CAT scan until Tan was called to mediate. Even though the mother speaks English, Tan still needs to act as a translator. Compare and contrast comes in to play at the very beginning of the essay when Tan is describing her mother listening to her giving a lecture. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Global health policy is currently shifting from centering around older top down and vertical disease programmes, to more horizontally integrated programmes that are re focusing on Primary Health Care. Community participation is a popular concept, where involvement of the community is considered one of the foundational principles of Primary health care (Bath and Wakerman, 2013). Thus, it is important to understand whether and how communities can successfully participate in determining how health services are delivered at the local level. To do so, it is important to begin by understanding what community participation means, which is what this essay seeks to do first. It will then demonstrate through examples that communities can and have successfully participated in determining how health services are delivered at the local level. It will subsequently also show that, despite these apparent successes, it is difficult to assess the effects of community participation in delivery of health services. ESSAY The context of a novel or film can greatly affect the values of society through the key concepts of love and marriage, and feminine appearance of a woman. We can clearly observe the comparisons of Jane Austen s 1813 novel Pride and Prejudice to Sharon Maguire s 1997 film Bridget Jone s Diary. The novel Pride and Prejudice was composed in the Regency period where marriage was vitally important for a woman as it meant a financially stable future, and usually not based on love, whereas Bridget Jones Diary set in a contemporary society where woman married for love and were economically independent. However, both text explores similar aspects where both heroine challenges the expectations of women and both are not constrained by the strict social conformity of a woman. [4] This is in direct relation to the amount of phosphorus in the water which promotes algae and plankton life to exist. The amount of zooplankton increased from around 2,000 to around 23,000, from 1950 to 1980, respectively. The problem of phosphorus eutrofication has also hindered the use of lake water to be used as potable water. Not only does a minute fraction of living things become preserved as fossils, but only an exceedingly small proportion of the fossils that are preserved end being discovered, collected and studied. Not surprisingly, then that the fossil record is not entirely representative of the composition of past biological communities ( Behrensmeyer and Hill 1980). Instead, fossil record preserves some organisms more than others. Taphonomy which is the study of what happens to organism from the time they die to their discovery is used. This approach may include both the biological and geological processes. Death may come to the organism in a number of ways including disease, injury and or predation among others. In some cases, the agent of death such as predators may leave marks on the skeleton such as bite marks. After death the carcass begins to decompose when living tissues are no longer maintained by the organism, and numerous microbes such as bacteria and insects accelerate the decomposition process. As the decomposition goes on, scavenging animals such as hyenas may consume the soft tissues and in some cases even chew on the bones.
