The Process Of Conducting Research
Procedure
The process of conducting research is to gather information that relates to your I search question. The
I search question that I am seeking answers to happens to be; what is the definition of family in today
s society? There are many methods of investigation that can be used to answer this question, but I
have limited it to eight methods. The eight methods I have chosen are going to give me in depth
information about my purposed I search question.
The first method of investigation for my I search project that would best help me gather information
for my project is interviewing both in person and by email. The interview process is beneficial to my
project because it gives me in depth and comprehensive information. The interviews will consist of
ordinary people in todays, society both younger and older the young will be aged from four to thirty
and old will consist of anyone over thirty. I am doing the interviews to gain answers to my secondary
questions which are based on gender and age. Also interviews provide personal experiences and better
understanding of the subject matter in this case family.
The second method of investigation will be scholarly journals. I am using journals because family is a
big topic to be covered and it has been discussed and written about over many years. Many
psychologists have written about what defines a family and how it has changed over time. These
Journals will help me show that the definition is outdated and how it should be

Christmas Descriptive Writing
On that momentous Christmas Eve of 2013, daubs of ashen grays, splattered specks of lapis, careless
streaks of pale lavender, and muted, chalky whites were smeared across the blank canvas sky, barely
concealing the cold, distant stars. The sliver of the moon that was shaped as though it were a narrow,
shining claw, was tied to the edge of a low hanging cloud with a thin, wisp of a string. Millions of the
beautiful feathery, ice crystals were brutally thrown toward the Earth, onto the frosted, dead grass,
where they joined their companions in a heap of broken, mangled snowflakes. For the ecclesiastical
holiday, scintillating lights were intertwined with newly bought, plastic reindeer scattered across the
yard, along with a snowman with a crooked, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I choked on my warm drink, and my eyes widened significantly. You weren t suppose to leave for
another eleven months! I screeched, the edges of my vision starting to blur from tears. I ve known you
for five years. I had said, as quiet as she. With a whimper, I examined my festive knee high socks and
took another mouthful of drink. Chloe fiddled with the edge of her caramel, shoulder length hair and
had given me a lifeless, emerald green stare. I have a gift for you! She then exclaimed, her eyes
suddenly brightening as though remembering something important. Here! She handed me a
rectangular object ingeniously wrapped, with two red ribbons interlaced to one another into my hands.
Carefully, I had untied the bow, and tore off the wrapping paper. In the container was a thick book,
encased in a dark leather binding. Chloe stood behind me. With caution, I opened the book and inside
was an array of pictures each with captions. In a few of the plastic sleeves, various objects, sometimes

Success at the Graduate Level Essay
Success at the Graduate Level COM 505 June 11, 2012 Preparing for Success at the Graduate Level
Preparing for academic success at the graduate level can be a daunting task. First, one must realize the
reason they are in a graduate program to begin with. What goals do you hope to achieve in completing
a graduate program? The reasons can be many such as better job opportunities, higher income, or
perhaps just for the prestige of earning a graduate degree. Other reasons could include setting a good
example for that of your children or gaining the respect of family and friends. Regardless of the
reason, once the decision is made to start a graduate program there must be a goal established in order
to achieve success. Setting goals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Make a plan for working on each assignment and avoid procrastination. Procrastination is one of the
biggest challenges for any student. It is easy to put off an assignment until the last minute only to turn
in work that is not to the best of your ability because you were rushed. It is best to plan out certain
times throughout the day that can be used to get required reading or research complete. You can get
more accomplished throughout the week if you take it a little at a time. Consistency will yield more
results than trying to get all of an assignment complete at the last minute. The student can also prepare
all the materials needed for an assignment in advance. It is much easier to complete an assignment if
you have all the required resources readily available ahead of time. There is an enormous difference
between undergraduate classes and classes taken in a graduate degree plan. Student s that are in an
undergraduate degree plan are expected to summarize material that is researched or given to them for
a paper. According to Lavelle and Bushrow (2007), the increased writing demands of courses at the
graduate level, including greater emphasis on depth and breadth, demand for genre competence, and
often expectation for publication, merely reporting or summarizing are insufficient (Lavelle amp;
Bushrow, 2007). The graduate student must expand their writing skills

Foreign Language Learners Behavior On Captioned Videos
Gass, Sydorenko, Winke (2013) investigated foreign language learners behavior on captioned videos.
Their investigation aroused from various previous studies that showed positive evidence of the
effectiveness of captioned video in improving learners skill. However, many of prior studies did not
provide exact measurement on which part(s) learners paid attention to when they watched captioned
and non captioned video. The absence of precise measurement limited the finding of the previous
studies (Gass, Sydorenko, Winke 2013). Therefore, using eye tracking device, they wanted to observe
how often foreign language learners read captions on captioned videos. They also intended to
investigate whether specific foreign language and the familiarity of the video content play role in
learners attention to the captions.
Thirty three college level foreign language learners who are in their fourth semester were included in
this study. They are English speaker learners of Arabic (n = 7), Chinese (n = 7), Russian (n = 8), and
Spanish (n = 10) with no experience of studying abroad. Twenty two participants are female and the
rest are male. The writers were aware that their participants might had different level of second
language proficiency despite the similarity in the length of learning. The, however, did not mention
how these participants are assigned to the study. Neither did the writer explain whether the
participants of similar language were taking similar classes or not. I think

My Academic Writing Portfolio
In the beginning of the second semester of my senior year I created a binder called a writing portfolio.
It held all the assignments and essays I had finished in class. The writing portfolio is like a sapling that
would grow to become a tree with each new addition of essays added to it. Academic Writing: English
151 was a grueling class that paid off in the long run. It was a difficult class that was insightful into
writing well since it taught me the basic mechanics of grammar and English at the same time. It
pushed me to the limits of writing at the utmost potential I was able to write. Some people might say
that this class is just another English class with an embellished name to it, but it is nowhere close to a
regular English class. It is literally a class that can be frightful at first glance because of the amount of
essays we write at a college level. The writing portfolio allowed me to physically touch and look at the
progress I was making in the class. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best two essay examples that I wrote which was on autobiography and profiling. The
autobiography was about an event that occurred in my life, and how I reacted to the event that had
happened. By using my five senses and references, I was able to describe the event in words that
would help the readers feel like that are at the event with me. For the profiling essay, I had to write a
profile on a person, place, or an event. I described a person of interest and an organization by using the
five senses in order to help the readers feel like they were experiencing what I was experiencing first
hand. The autobiography essay was the toughest essay I wrote throughout the course because I do not
like writing about my personal experience. On the other hand, the profiling essay was the easiest essay

Taking a Look at the Indian Mutiny
One might argue that the most significant short term impact of the Indian Mutiny was the British
taking direct control of India through crown control creating a positive relationship. The Indian
Mutiny caused this short term impact as in the aftermath of the rebellion the British understood that
the administration of India must be brought under closer government control to prevent such a mutiny
recurring in the future. In addition to the British taking direct control the mutiny had various other
short term impacts amongst the most significant where the British developing a feeling of mistrust
towards Indians and brutal force being established as a key method in controlling Indian nationalism.
In order to validate my argument I will use a range of contemporary sources including illustrations,
satirical cartoons, government proclamations and firsthand accounts. These sources will be cross
referenced with one another to ensure the validity of the argument and the reliability of the sources
will also be taken into consideration to form a justified conclusion. One short term impact of the
Indian Mutiny and arguably the most significant were the British taking direct control of India though
crown control creating a positive relationship. The process of Britain taking control involved the East
India Company being abolished, the Mughal Empire being brought to an end and Queen Victoria
being declared the ruler of India. Before the mutiny control of India lay at the hands of the East

Essay on The Many Goals of Alchemy
The Many Goals of Alchemy Alchemy is not just the changing of base metals into gold as most people
think, although that was one of the goals people tried to achieve through alchemy. Alchemy is
stemmed from astrology; both make attempts to understand mans relationship to the universe and
exploit it. While astrology is concerned with the stars alchemy is concerned with the elements of
nature. Alchemy also stemmed partly from metallurgy, a science that deals with the extracting of
metals form ore and the combining of metals to make alloys. Today s modern chemistry evolved from
alchemy using the extended knowledge of substances and how they react with each other. There were
several goals that alchemist tried to achieve but the driving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

If the base metals could be purified they would become gold, silver or some other precious metal.
However they never succeeded We now know that changing one element in to another is impossible
with out the use of a nuclear reaction, of which they had no knowledge of or any way of accidentally
creating. Another popular goal of alchemy was to make the old young again and also to gain
immortality. Like changing metals it is also known as transmutation and was believed to be
purification. Most of the potions they concocted made people very sick and even killed. A lesser
known goal was to discover a substance that could bring about any desired change instantly. There
were many myths about it and many names. Zosimos, an alchemist from 300A.D. first proposed the
idea of such as substance. He called it the tincture also called the philosopher stone later on. Many of
the processes in alchemy were chemical thought they didn t call it this. But there wasn t much science
involved in their mixing of substances; most of it relied on folklore and superstition. Many of the
reactions the created used impure mixtures of chemicals that they regarded as a substance not knowing
that they were using several different chemicals at once. For many alchemists the mixing of chemicals
wasn t as important as the chanting and incantations the said while they made their potions and elixirs.
In fact this lead to myth of magic and witchcraft where spells were cast using

Irritable Bowel Syndrome Analysis
Food Curt This might be TMI (too much information), if so, skip this chapter. Throughout the trip, I
was struggling with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Trust me, when your bowel is irritable, so are you. At
any rate, I had been trying to eat healthy and high fiber. While we were traveling, I was faced with a
lot of new foods. Given all my digestive issues, I was trying to keep it simple. A couple bad
experiences prompted my decision to pretty much eat nothing but ham and cheese sandwiches unless I
was fairly sure the foods available would not cause me problems. I had thought Chinese would be a
safe choice; however, that turned out not to be the case. My bad experience at the Chinese restaurant

I don t think it is as heavily processed nor do I think it contains as many additives as the cheese
available in the United States. Although it may not be as safe to eat, it is really delicious. I live in
Arizona and have occasionally had cheese from across the border in Mexico. The cheese I had in
Buenaventura was memorable and much like Mexican cheese: really rich and salty. The other issue I
struggled with was a justifiable fear of drinking contaminated water. Non carbonated bottled water,
referred to as sin gas (without gas), was hard to find. Trusting tap water was inviting serious illness, so
Miguel consumed primarily Diet Coke and I resorted to regular Coke, which left me dehydrated a
great deal of the time. A ham and cheese sandwich became my standard lunch at airport cafes. I based
my choice on a combination of knowing it would not make me sick and the ease with which I could
order. Sanwich de jamon y queso con Coca sin hielo, por favor. (Ham and cheese sandwich with Coca
Cola, no ice.) Boy did I eat a lot of ham and cheese sandwiches washed down with bottles of warm
Coke by the time the trip was over. Fortunately, there were memorable meals which provided a
counterpoint to all the ham and cheese sandwiches. Our Thanksgiving dinner when we were not

A Brief Note On Conflict Analysis Using Ssam
Conflict Analysis using SSAM
After the 10 simulations for each intersection were completed in VISSIM, their respective outputs
were imported in SSAM. The analysis in SSAM resulted in possible conflicts generated at each
intersection. As mentioned earlier, the results from the SSAM analysis were filtered to remove any
uncertainties, including possible conflicts of pedestrians. The filters used are explained in Table 3
(Section 2.5.3).
Per Saleem (2012), the principal reason for removing the pedestrian conflicts is that in his study only
vehicle to vehicle crashes are modeled. In the same way, this study only focuses on evaluating safety
of signalized intersections with the presence of automated vehicles without including pedestrians due

The CMF was calculated for each crash prediction model applied at both scenarios: 50%AV and
100%AV. Using the method studied by Shahdah, Saccomanno, Persaud (2014) to predict the CMF
based on simulated conflicts, the total predicted crashes after the countermeasure was applied (crashes
at 100% AV and crashes at 50%AV) were divided by the total predicted crashes before the
countermeasure was applied (crashes at 0%AV). This provided crash modification factors for the two
AV penetration levels investigated in this study.
Finally, to have a better perspective with regards to simulated conflicts and crashes, an average was
calculated for each element used to calculate the CMFs for the four prediction models (crashes at
0%AV, crashes at 100%AV, crashes at 50%AV). With these new values, new CMFs were calculated
for 100%AV and 50%AV with respect to the untreated site scenario of 0%AV.
3.5 Evaluation of Safety Treatments for Signalized Intersections
After analyzing the safety of the 78 signalized intersections when introducing automated vehicles, this
part of the research explored and evaluated the safety effects on crashes when hypothetical treatments
were applied to selected intersections.
The first safety treatment consisted of changing left turn operation from permissive to permissive
protected. Permissive left turns can raise safety concerns since drivers take a higher risk in crossing

Essay about If I See A Ghost Are My Senses
IF I SEE A GHOST ARE MY SENSES TO BLAME?
To complement the full apprehension of the terms which will be used throughout this argument, a
number of meanings taken from The Lexicon Webster Dictionary is provided:
GHOST
The soul or spirit of a dead person. A disembodied spirit.
HALLUCINATION
(psy) an apparent perception, as by sight or hearing, for which there is no real external cause, as
distinguished from illusion
ILLUSION
A false impression or belief. False perception or conception of some object of sense. A perception of a
thing which misrepresents it, or gives it qualities not present in reality.

All these examples fall under error of perception but the following is an interesting experiment carried
out by the Toronto Society Of Psychical Research. They discovered that séance phenomena might be
attributed, at least in part, to the same psychokinetic force that is commonly believed to be responsible
for poltergeist (unquiet ghost) activity. They suggested that this force could be produced by the minds
of the sitters, fuelled perhaps by their unanimous belief that such phenomena would occur during the
séance. They theorized that the role of the medium was that of a placebo, and that no particular
psychic sensitivity was necessary for a successful séance.
Apart from considering all the forms of perceptional errors, we can explain the existence of such
spirits that are perceived (but not always believed!) If we want to stick to the Rationalist philosophy
and therefore state that such presences should be reasoned out, rather than just experienced, we can
say that this subject has brought together many professionals from around the globe, using their
knowledge and their equipment to get the truth out. This type of philosophical approach is what I am
trying to use to explain these so called ghosts.

Controversy In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
Shirley Jackson s story The Lottery stirred up a lot of controversy when it was first published in The
New Yorker in 1948. Considering that it is a short story, and only took a few hours to write no one
suspected the impact it would have on everyone. It was widely disliked, and most people were highly
confused by it. Many people unsubscribed to the magazine, and Jackson received a lot of hate mail
because of it.
The fictional story tells of the events that take place in a town once a year. A lottery is held, and one
person is chosen to be stoned to death. Jackson s message seems to be about how easy it is to conform
to something, even senseless violence, just because it is considered a tradition. Now it is one of the

Shirley Jackson s The Lottery tells of an event that is held once a year. Where a drawing is held and

Production Process And Nutritional Value Of The Foods
Over the past few decades, Americans have become far more conscious of the production process and
nutritional value of the foods they consume. Founded in 1980 in Austin, Texas, Whole Foods Market
is an international supermarket chain that specializes in organic foods and products. As early as 1984,
Whole Foods began expanding across the South and, soon afterwards, expanded to major cities around
the U.S. with new stores and strategic acquisitions. Although organic grocers and health stores existed
prior to Whole Foods founding, founder and CEO John Mackey was the first to scale such a store to

Revenue and net income. Despite the United States slow economic recovery, Whole Foods Market has
nearly quadrupled their revenues over the past ten years, from $4.5 to $15.4 billion. Net income has
also quadrupled in the past ten years, from $150 to $536 million, and has more than doubled over the
past six. This success can be traced back to a history of discovery and innovation in the health and
wellness industry, as well as the cultivation of a lifestyle surrounding customers who shop at Whole
Foods that increases both customer retention and satisfaction.
Same store sales. These are an important metric because they indicate the ability of existing Whole
Foods stores to maintain customers and grow in the face of potential cannibalization and expanding
competition. Comparable store sales were positive every year but 2009 (the year of the Great
Recession). A concerning trend of slowing comparable store sales began in 2013. This trend can be
attributed to increased market saturation Whole Foods now has multiple stores in many major cities
but increased competition may be playing a significant role as well. Overall, growth is still increasing
on a store by store basis. While Whole Foods is still a successful company, a reversal of this declining
trend would be beneficial.
Worker efficiency. The efficiency of Whole Food s employees is indicative of the efficiency of
management.

The Importance Of The Public Education System Essay
Specific purpose: After reading my paper, my audience will understand the importance of the public
education system in America, as well as the areas in which it could improve to have a more
meaningful, lasting effect on the students.
I. Introduction
A. Background
1. Higher education costs are rising and the demand for basic supplies and services are increasing
exponentially, due to a growing population and a consumer society.
a. This means that the career path for high school graduates is more diverse than the singular college
route that the school system would like every student to believe is the best avenue to success.
2. Many students exit the education system with a lack of employability due to the gap of topics taught
in school and the skills needed in entry level jobs.
3. Not all students prevail in the same topics, and as the system currently exists, a child who does not
excel in one of the heavily tested subjects will likely fall behind.
B. Thesis: The education system in America can be vastly improved if the curriculum is expanded to
include vocational studies, teachers are paid more, and students are evaluated by their own skills.
II. Body
A. Vocational Studies
1. Explanation of current issue:
In the article Is Algebra necessary? Andrew Hacker, an emeritus professor at Queens College, explains
the immense amount of time and resources that are wasted to teach high school students higher level
math that will likely never be used. Hacker expands on

The Three Levels Of Organizational Culture
Organizational Culture is an anthropological term that refers to the values, belief, norms and ways of

are believed to be the cause of transmissible spongiform encephalopathies among other diseases. All

Colonialism And Post Colonialism By Ania Loomba
This reflection will discuss the concept of colonialism and post colonialism, with a particular focus on
the impact in planning. Although both concepts are not new, Ania Loomba in her book Colonialism
and Post Colonialism provides a more exhaustive research on the regards. She argues that colonialism
is the physical occupation of territory whereas post colonialism deals with effect of colonization on
culture and societies. She also expanded the concepts including two new terms imperialism and Neo
colonialism. This is not only a semantic discussion but also a way to raise awareness of the
(over)simplification that many authors have applied to studies in this field.
Despite that there is some recognition that colonialism and post colonialism is important, Loomba
raises some warnings in this regards. Although that most of the countries that were in one point of
their history colonized by a western nation are freed now, they are facing a new type of domination:
the domination through the economic system. In most of the cases some form of capitalism. Most of
the development of the western nation are due to cheap (or free) labor and production factors that were
obtained through violence from the colonized nations. Could it possible for US to develop the cotton
industry without slavery? Could Spain finance every single war without the Inca s gold? Could Great
Britain that industrialized nation without their colonies? So when These nation complains about the

Hero of the southern campaign in the American Revolution, who was known for his mastery of the
small unit tactics necessary for effective guerrilla warfare.
BIOGRAPHICAL ESSAY
Francis Marion was born in the winter of 1732 (his exact birth date is unknown) at Goatfield
Plantation in St. John s Parish, Berkeley County, South Carolina. His parents, Gabriel and Esther
Marion, were of French Huguenot descent. The Huguenots were French Protestants who had suffered

Marion was given the rank of first lieutenant in Captain William Moultrie s company of infantry.
In June, Grant led his expedition on the same route Montgomerie had taken. Sensing another ambush
at a pass near the site of Montgomerie s battle, Grant dispatched Marion with 30 men to flush out the
Cherokees. Using trees for cover, Marion s detachment cautiously advanced within range of the
Cherokees, whereupon the Indians sounded their war cry and fired. By the time the pass was secured,
only nine of Marion s men were left. Grant s column proceeded through the pass and engaged the
Cherokees for several hours, until the Indians fled. Marion s capture of the pass allowed Grant to
create a path of destruction in the Cherokee lands, burning 15 Indian towns and destroying their corn
crops. Finally, Chief Attakullakulla, known by some as Little Carpenter, surrendered.
Marion s courageous efforts in the Cherokee War did not go unnoticed. When he returned to his old
lifestyle by leasing farm lands along the west bank of the Santee River, he was accorded great respect
and became a successful planter. Although he spent considerable time hunting and fishing, he was well
acquainted with details of the surrounding lands. He also had an active social life and regularly visited
his brothers and neighboring Huguenot families. During this prosperous time, he attained a sizable
degree of wealth. In 1773,

The Democratic Party And The Republican Party
Every four years, the United States citizens elect a new president. The election is held in November,
but campaigning starts almost a whole year before the election month. Candidates compete on a daily
basis for the one position some people only dream of holding. With this election on the horizon, voters
need to take time to understand who the contenders are and what their main objects will be once they
arrive in office.
In politics today, two parties exist; the democrat party and the republican party. Out of the pair of
organizations, the democratic party remains as the world s oldest political party. It was first founded in
the year 1828 by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. The Jeffersonian Republican or Democratic
Republican party ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They consisted of former Whig party supporters, abolitionists, and people who believed in the
modernizing of the country. Their basic belief followed the ways of conservatism. Conservatism
means that people believed in the rule of anti communism, and also believed that the American
traditions are the way the government should be ran along with Protestant values. Each party is
represented by an animal and also a color; red elephants for republicans and blue donkeys for
democrats.
When looking at the economy today, it is rather on a plateau. A few years ago, the economy was
heading in the wrong direction, but after current president Barack Obama was elected into office, he
managed to sign many bills into effect which in turn helped bring our economy back up. Illegal
immigration into the country has sky rocketed in the past ten years. The number of illegal immigrants
flowing into the country is approximately seven hundred thousand each year. Personally, I believe that
this number is entirely too high. The United States has a specific law about illegal aliens and how they
must have a piece of paper called a green card in order to live in this country as an immigrant. These
people of course are not considered citizens because they were not born in America, which is
primarily the reason behind the law. Along with these issues, I also believe that the military and our
veterans are treated with disrespect. Currently, we have been involved in

Rhetorical Analysis Of David Leonhardt s Deporting...
A Rhetorical Analysis of David Leonhardt s Deporting Dreamers 2017
The job of a writer is never done. New information is always being thrown at writers such as David
Leonhardt, begging to be judged and characterized, not as good nor bad, but worthy of reading.
Immigration is ingrained in our society as Americans, that s how America was born.
In this article, David Leonhardt assesses the ins and outs of illegal immigration, while simultaneously
stating his opinion on the matter. In this article, Leonhardt argues about the severity and use of
prosecutorial discretion on laws of immigration and how it affects the American people.
The author s credibility is established before, throughout, and at the end of the article by giving
sources from media news, such as CNN and other publications from the New York Times. The
problem with CNN being a media news source is that information isn t always proven true and is often
opinionated. On , Karen Douglas, Business Insider, 2017 , from a poll taken of 3000 random
participants, CNN was considered more or less distrustworthy. This poll supports the statistical
evidence that declares CNN s information 47% untrue or false on (CNN File PunditFact 2017) . If
David uses CNN for statistical reports to support his left sided point of view, how can we know if
what he says is even true? We can t. However, the author uses emotional reasoning and empathy to
sway the reader into understanding and accepting his point of view, even if the view is not 100% true.
In the first paragraph, the author presents the reader with multiple quotes from the Former White
House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer. Spicer argues about the subject of prosecutorial discretion against
Dreamer and uses Felony Tax Evasion to explain the absurdity of selectively choosing when to uphold
laws. The author does include a solution from Sean Spicer s quote, saying They should petition our
lawmakers and the government will change it (Spicer Paragraph three). This quote doesn t support the
author s point of view and leaves the reader confused. The author then proceeds to imply that the
President is, Taking to the Extreme when it comes to upholding the law. The author switches tones in
the next paragraph to more of

Nike s Long Term Financial Goals
How important is it for the financial managers of Nike Inc. to use economic variables in identifying
long term financial goals? For Nike s business model to continually flourish and stay profitable, the
senior management team and strategic planners must continually monitor short, intermediate and long
term economic factors that will affect their operations. Nike s business model is heavily dependent on
supply chains, as the majority of their products are manufactured in Asian nations, either in their own
manufacturing centers or contract manufacturing partners. Sales forecasts for next generation shoes,
apparel and sporting equipment must be accurate to ensure the supply chain estimates and forecasts
can meet product demand. The influence of economic factors on sales and marketing planning and
strategy development is among the most immediate and significant for any enterprise operating in
global markets (Cerullo, Avila, 1975). Strategic planners at Nike, working in conjunction with product
development and product launch teams, must understand the price elasticity of demand for a given
new product or an entirely new division before launching it. Economic data gives Nike senior
management and strategic planners the insight necessary to determine which new products to launch
or not, when, and in which specific regions of the world. Economic variables will in short tell Nike s
senior management how to navigate risk and capitalize on opportunities as quickly as possible.

The Fashion Choices People Make Should Not Define Who They...
The fashion choices people make should not define who they are. People should be judged based on
their actions and not by their fashion choices. Passing judgement based on looks can hurt others and
cause issues in society. Some people are required to dress in a certain fashion, but that does not
determine whether they are good or bad. I chose this argument topic because it involves my major in
fashion and also an issue for which I can relate. The study of fashion and sociology can relate in some
ways, therefore, this would be an interesting argumentative research topic.
The first key point that I can use in my essay would be that children, especially teenagers, are judge by
their peers based on their fashion choices. This claim supports my argument by showing that teenagers
that are judged harshly, often feel forced to dress a certain way to be accepted. The second key point
that I can use is that people of different cultures are expected to behave a certain way or have certain
beliefs based on their attire. This key point supports my argument to show that stereotyping people
based in their culture can cause result in issues within society. The last key point that I can use is that
fashion choices express how someone feels and not how they are. Someone s style of fashion can
change at any time or frequency, depending on how he or she feels at certain times, or in a specific
situation.
The audience that will be reading my essay will be my instructor or anyone else that is

The Mayan Ball Game
Reflection We had a great time conducting this lesson with the class! We found it difficult to choose
an activity that would engage kids, university students, while also incorporating the element of Social
Studies. However, we were all pleasantly surprised at how much the group actually loved our game,
and how engaged they were! Due to the time constraint of only 15 minutes, we chose to play our main
game the Mayan Ball game , and simply discuss with the rest of the class our idea of our warm up and
cool down games and their themes. We had a backup plan to play the Egyptian stick game if we
needed to fill more time. However, as mentioned, the class seemed to really enjoy the game and
remained engaged the whole time, thus giving us the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This worked well, however, it would have been better if we had two balls so mitigate the wait time,
but we only had one so we made due. Furthermore, we made one more change in delivery following
the first group. During our introductory discussion with the first group, we did not make mention of
the sacrifice of the team captain until the very end of the game. Thus, we thought it would be fun to
actually pick a team captain before beginning play, so that at the end of the game, we could tie in the
importance of winning the game in order to avoid the sacrifice of the captain. This turned out to be a
good decision because following the end of the game, we asked for team captains to step forward, we
celebrated the winning team, and made mention of the terrible loss the losing team was about to
experience. We filled them in on the news that their captain would now be sacrificed and explained
why. This allowed us to conclude the game bringing in yet another fact about the Mayan culture and
tradition. It also made the end of the game more entertaining and fun! Considering teamwork was the
foundation of our game, we thought it would be best to divide the group in two equal halves.
However, in a class setting, it would be fun to start the teams small, dividing the gym in two and
having four teams. This would allow students to warm up and get used to the footwork and teamwork
required to be

Essay On Bayesian Analysis
2.1 Bayesian Analysis
Before making research on Bayesian analysis we need to know more about Bayes theorem, which is
the basis of the Bayesian analysis approach. For the first of all, we need to know who the founder of
this theorem is. Thomas Bayes who is the mathematician is the person who first lodged Bayes
theorem. In his article published in 1763, Bayes introduce a version of the equation of probability
which is now known as Bayes theorem. When the first paper was published, there is little expectation
that simple equation can solve many problems in the theory of chance. But after a hundred years later,
Bayes theorem had become an important and currently as a basis for Bayesian statistical inference. To
understand the Bayes theorem, we must first understand the conditional probability.
Bayesian analysis facilitates the use of new information to update (modify) initial probability
estimates. It is also can use historical probabilities to revise the probability estimates associated with a
new project or process. It is a powerful risk assessment and management tool. Bayesian analysis
generally requires that each component of a project or process have an associated estimated
probability (chance of happening).
It is primarily used to analyze the probabilities associated with the variables that compromise any
process or project. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Beech (1990) relates, the essence of decision making is the effort to do the right thing. It has no
other purpose. The entire manager tried to come out with the right decision. Each of their interactions
is driven by a decision. With this decision, it will determine the destiny of the management and the
organization. These decisions communicate a vision that needs to be done by the people in the
management. If decision making were simple, evidence would exist of brilliantly run organizations at
all levels. It is deceptively difficult because it is risky and demanding

Tati 3 Worlds
Q1: What are the specificities of the three worlds displayed in the film? In the film, there were three
worlds displayed all separate from each other but still holding the same image for something
happening in France at the time. The new city showed signs of the advancing world the Tati had lived
in during the 1950 s. In the 1950 s France was recovering from war efforts from WWII. The new
world shows how France was rebuilding many structures and factories, and how these things were not
in common of what the old world was. Many of the streets had also been in non contemporary grid
styles. As well as people in neighborhoods staying within the bounds of their homes, not
communicating much, and trying to have their household become better than ... Show more content on

In the new world, everything was mostly gray. If there was color, it was very vibrant and centralized to
a specific location. For example, the car showed different colors of being pink and green. The old
world on the other hand had tons of colors. Everything was colorful, very little gray was around, and it
all just seemed more interesting to the viewer. This various range of colors had to do with the idea that
Tati was hinting that even though the new world has tons of different and new technologies, there was
not as much culture within it. The old world had lively colors, showing how different the two worlds
really were. In fact, Tati might have been showing how to new world is not all it s cracked up to be as
compared to the old world. Tati was trying to show that people should just stick to the old world that
had much more culture than the new

Macbeth And The Grave Diggers In Hamlet By William...
The scene takes place in the most suspenseful moment of the play. There has been a series of tragic
scenes before the grave digger scene. Polonius is killed by Hamlet in Claudius s bed chamber and as a
result Claudius orders Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to prepare to take Hamlet with them to England.
Ophelia goes mad and soon Laertes arrives with mob. Soon Hamlet sends back letters to Horatio and
the king that he is coming. So when the audience waits to see the ultimate outcome of all these
happenings the two grave diggers come on the stage and engage themselves in a legalistic chop logic.
Thus the grave diggers provide a broad comic relief to an otherwise deadly serious and grim tragedy.
The occasional admission of comic ingredient in a tragedy or comic relief is used to calm down the
tragic feeling momentarily in order to make it more intensifying. Though Aristotle in his Poetics does
not make allowance for the dilution series action, the Elizabethan dramas are replete with instances of
the combination of the comic and the tragic elements. This tendency of using the comic in tragedy and
its final canonization also became popular in Shakespeare. The comic relief is a regular feature in
Shakespeare. The part played by fool in Kinglear, porter in Macbeth is the same as the apart played by
the grave diggers in Hamlet.
The scene opens with the legalistic chop logic between two grave diggers.Commenting on the Ophelia
s death by drowning, the first clown speaks in a light hearted

Nores vs. Greek Essay
Nores vs. Greek
Greek mythology and Roman mythology are almost identical. This is an accepted fact, as it is widely
known that the Romans stole the Greek myths. However, it is very interesting to note that the
mythology of the Vikings (Norse) has many similarities with the Greek myths. These myths are, by no
means, identical to the Greek ones (like the Roman ones are), but there are very distinct
commonalities between the two. I see two possible reasons for this besides pure coincidence.
The first has to do with the fact that Norse myths were codified during the Viking era: 780 1070. This
gives the Norsemen many centuries to become exposed to the Greek (or Roman) myths. The Vikings
did travel as far east as the Caspian sea, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gods and goddesses are powerful beings capable of super human powers, but nevertheless are
characters fraught with very human frailties and flaws. In this way they created gods that had
similarities with the common man in the society. This made the gods more tangible and easier to
identify with. I think that this was necessary because they were not yet at the societal maturity level to
have a single god on a cosmic plane. Most of the comparisons will be examining the similarities
between major Greek and Norse gods, as well as creatures, stories and specific symbols which are
featured in the mythologies. Some of the gods do not have direct counterparts (Thor, Athena and
Loki). However, I will provide possible similarities within the respective mythologies.
ASGARD Asgard is sometimes known as Asgarth. It is the realm of the gods and the home of both the
Aesir and Vanir. Is is ruled by Odin, the leader of the Norse deities. It is located in the heavens, but is
connected to earth by a bridge, known as Bifrost, sometimes referred to as a rainbow. There is also a
route from Asgard to the underworld, the domain of Hel. Valhalla, a hall within Asgard, was the palace
for fallen kings, warriors who had died in battle and heroes.
MT. OLYMPUS Mount Olympus was the home of the Greek gods. It was chosen as their home
because of its altitude, for Zeus, the king of the gods, was associated with the sky. Within the
mythology, Mt. Olympus was large, foreboding

Unusual Animal Friendships
Have you ever thought about the relationships between animals? Two very different kinds of animals
can get a very strong bond between each other. They will start to care for each other even if they are
not the same species. Like a dog taking care of a littler of kittens because the kittens have no mother.
They will even feed offspring that are not even there own. I do believe that a dog that just had puppies
will take care of a litter of cats.
Animals will care for one another. Like the lions in the passage Animal roles and relationship. The
lions look out for the little cubs while the other ones go hunt and get food for them to eat. I know this
because in passage one it says, In a pride of lions lionesses are the hunters while the males are the
protectors. Also like Bea the giraffe and Wilma the ostrich. They both have a lot of land to walk
around but they are always together. Bea cleans Wilma with her long tongue an Wilma likes to cuddle
close to her side. I know this because in the second passage Unusual Animal Friendships it says , Bea
likes to clean Wilma with her long tongue and Wilma likes to cuddle close to her friend. ... Show more

because in the text it says, He was moved to an endangered wildlife refuge in South Carolina where
doctors feared he would not live long. The text also said, Thanks to Roscoe for his help Suryia always
shares his snacks with his best friend. Another example is how a crab feeds the sea anemone. I know
this because in the text it sates, Sea anemones also get free food by eating the leftovers from hermit

Security Issues With Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
Abstract The paper discusses security issues with Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and
four different approaches proposed to secure DHCP. DHCP assigns network parameters to existing
and new clients. A misconfigured client is a big security breach as the traffic from and to such client
can be intercepted. The two main issues with DHCP are rogue server and Media Access Control
(MAC) address spoofing. The techniques discussed in the paper attempt at solving these problems by
encrypting the plain text send in DHCP, using digital signatures and key exchange algorithms to
maintain data integrity and security.
1. Introduction
Internet grew rapidly over the last few decades. This has led to increase in the size of networks and
number of network devices. The network infrastructure today needs improvement and changes daily,
so adding new devices to network is very essential. The traditional way of assigning network
configuration to clients with the help of a network administrator is difficult. DHCP has now owned the
responsibility to perform this task. DHCP has its security issues because at the time of its development
internet security was not as important as dynamic allocation of the network parameters were [2]. The
major security concern in DHCP is interception of plaintext messages and illegitimate client or server
that compromises the network.
In section 4 of the paper, four different techniques to secure DHCP have been discussed. The first
approach makes use of

  • 2. The Process Of Conducting Research Procedure The process of conducting research is to gather information that relates to your I search question. The I search question that I am seeking answers to happens to be; what is the definition of family in today s society? There are many methods of investigation that can be used to answer this question, but I have limited it to eight methods. The eight methods I have chosen are going to give me in depth information about my purposed I search question. The first method of investigation for my I search project that would best help me gather information for my project is interviewing both in person and by email. The interview process is beneficial to my project because it gives me in depth and comprehensive information. The interviews will consist of ordinary people in todays, society both younger and older the young will be aged from four to thirty and old will consist of anyone over thirty. I am doing the interviews to gain answers to my secondary questions which are based on gender and age. Also interviews provide personal experiences and better understanding of the subject matter in this case family. The second method of investigation will be scholarly journals. I am using journals because family is a big topic to be covered and it has been discussed and written about over many years. Many psychologists have written about what defines a family and how it has changed over time. These Journals will help me show that the definition is outdated and how it should be ... Christmas Descriptive Writing On that momentous Christmas Eve of 2013, daubs of ashen grays, splattered specks of lapis, careless streaks of pale lavender, and muted, chalky whites were smeared across the blank canvas sky, barely concealing the cold, distant stars. The sliver of the moon that was shaped as though it were a narrow, shining claw, was tied to the edge of a low hanging cloud with a thin, wisp of a string. Millions of the beautiful feathery, ice crystals were brutally thrown toward the Earth, onto the frosted, dead grass, where they joined their companions in a heap of broken, mangled snowflakes. For the ecclesiastical holiday, scintillating lights were intertwined with newly bought, plastic reindeer scattered across the yard, along with a snowman with a crooked, ... With a whimper, I examined my festive knee high socks and took another mouthful of drink. Chloe fiddled with the edge of her caramel, shoulder length hair and had given me a lifeless, emerald green stare. I have a gift for you! She then exclaimed, her eyes suddenly brightening as though remembering something important. Here! She handed me a rectangular object ingeniously wrapped, with two red ribbons interlaced to one another into my hands. Carefully, I had untied the bow, and tore off the wrapping paper. In the container was a thick book, encased in a dark leather binding. Chloe stood behind me. With caution, I opened the book and inside was an array of pictures each with captions. Success at the Graduate Level Essay Success at the Graduate Level COM 505 June 11, 2012 Preparing for Success at the Graduate Level Preparing for academic success at the graduate level can be a daunting task. First, one must realize the reason they are in a graduate program to begin with. What goals do you hope to achieve in completing a graduate program? The reasons can be many such as better job opportunities, higher income, or perhaps just for the prestige of earning a graduate degree. Other reasons could include setting a good example for that of your children or gaining the respect of family and friends. Regardless of the reason, once the decision is made to start a graduate program there must be a goal established in order to achieve success. Setting goals ... It is easy to put off an assignment until the last minute only to turn in work that is not to the best of your ability because you were rushed. It is best to plan out certain times throughout the day that can be used to get required reading or research complete. You can get more accomplished throughout the week if you take it a little at a time. Consistency will yield more results than trying to get all of an assignment complete at the last minute. The student can also prepare all the materials needed for an assignment in advance. It is much easier to complete an assignment if you have all the required resources readily available ahead of time. There is an enormous difference between undergraduate classes and classes taken in a graduate degree plan. Student s that are in an undergraduate degree plan are expected to summarize material that is researched or given to them for a paper. According to Lavelle and Bushrow (2007), the increased writing demands of courses at the graduate level, including greater emphasis on depth and breadth, demand for genre competence, and often expectation for publication, merely reporting or summarizing are insufficient (Lavelle amp; Bushrow, 2007). The graduate student must expand their writing skills ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Foreign Language Learners Behavior On Captioned Videos Gass, Sydorenko, Winke (2013) investigated foreign language learners behavior on captioned videos. Their investigation aroused from various previous studies that showed positive evidence of the effectiveness of captioned video in improving learners skill. However, many of prior studies did not provide exact measurement on which part(s) learners paid attention to when they watched captioned and non captioned video. The absence of precise measurement limited the finding of the previous studies (Gass, Sydorenko, Winke 2013). Therefore, using eye tracking device, they wanted to observe how often foreign language learners read captions on captioned videos. They also intended to investigate whether specific foreign language and the familiarity of the video content play role in learners attention to the captions. Thirty three college level foreign language learners who are in their fourth semester were included in this study. They are English speaker learners of Arabic (n = 7), Chinese (n = 7), Russian (n = 8), and Spanish (n = 10) with no experience of studying abroad. Twenty two participants are female and the rest are male. The writers were aware that their participants might had different level of second language proficiency despite the similarity in the length of learning. The, however, did not mention how these participants are assigned to the study. Neither did the writer explain whether the participants of similar language were taking similar classes or not. Academic Writing: English 151 was a grueling class that paid off in the long run. It was a difficult class that was insightful into writing well since it taught me the basic mechanics of grammar and English at the same time. Some people might say that this class is just another English class with an embellished name to it, but it is nowhere close to a regular English class. Taking a Look at the Indian Mutiny One might argue that the most significant short term impact of the Indian Mutiny was the British taking direct control of India through crown control creating a positive relationship. The Indian Mutiny caused this short term impact as in the aftermath of the rebellion the British understood that the administration of India must be brought under closer government control to prevent such a mutiny recurring in the future. In addition to the British taking direct control the mutiny had various other short term impacts amongst the most significant where the British developing a feeling of mistrust towards Indians and brutal force being established as a key method in controlling Indian nationalism. In order to validate my argument I will use a range of contemporary sources including illustrations, satirical cartoons, government proclamations and firsthand accounts. These sources will be cross referenced with one another to ensure the validity of the argument and the reliability of the sources will also be taken into consideration to form a justified conclusion. One short term impact of the Indian Mutiny and arguably the most significant were the British taking direct control of India though crown control creating a positive relationship. While astrology is concerned with the stars alchemy is concerned with the elements of nature. Alchemy also stemmed partly from metallurgy, a science that deals with the extracting of metals form ore and the combining of metals to make alloys. Another popular goal of alchemy was to make the old young again and also to gain immortality. Like changing metals it is also known as transmutation and was believed to be purification. Most of the potions they concocted made people very sick and even killed. A lesser known goal was to discover a substance that could bring about any desired change instantly. There were many myths about it and many names. Zosimos, an alchemist from 300A.D. first proposed the idea of such as substance. He called it the tincture also called the philosopher stone later on. Many of the processes in alchemy were chemical thought they didn t call it this. But there wasn t much science involved in their mixing of substances; most of it relied on folklore and superstition. Many of the reactions the created used impure mixtures of chemicals that they regarded as a substance not knowing that they were using several different chemicals at once. Non carbonated bottled water, referred to as sin gas (without gas), was hard to find. Trusting tap water was inviting serious illness, so Miguel consumed primarily Diet Coke and I resorted to regular Coke, which left me dehydrated a great deal of the time. A Brief Note On Conflict Analysis Using Ssam Conflict Analysis using SSAM After the 10 simulations for each intersection were completed in VISSIM, their respective outputs were imported in SSAM. The analysis in SSAM resulted in possible conflicts generated at each intersection. As mentioned earlier, the results from the SSAM analysis were filtered to remove any uncertainties, including possible conflicts of pedestrians. The filters used are explained in Table 3 (Section 2.5.3). Per Saleem (2012), the principal reason for removing the pedestrian conflicts is that in his study only vehicle to vehicle crashes are modeled. Using the method studied by Shahdah, Saccomanno, Persaud (2014) to predict the CMF based on simulated conflicts, the total predicted crashes after the countermeasure was applied (crashes at 100% AV and crashes at 50%AV) were divided by the total predicted crashes before the countermeasure was applied (crashes at 0%AV). This provided crash modification factors for the two AV penetration levels investigated in this study. Finally, to have a better perspective with regards to simulated conflicts and crashes, an average was calculated for each element used to calculate the CMFs for the four prediction models (crashes at 0%AV, crashes at 100%AV, crashes at 50%AV). With these new values, new CMFs were calculated for 100%AV and 50%AV with respect to the untreated site scenario of 0%AV. 3.5 Evaluation of Safety Treatments for Signalized Intersections After analyzing the safety of the 78 signalized intersections when introducing automated vehicles, this part of the research explored and evaluated the safety effects on crashes when hypothetical treatments were applied to selected intersections. They suggested that this force could be produced by the minds of the sitters, fuelled perhaps by their unanimous belief that such phenomena would occur during the séance. They theorized that the role of the medium was that of a placebo, and that no particular psychic sensitivity was necessary for a successful séance. Apart from considering all the forms of perceptional errors, we can explain the existence of such spirits that are perceived (but not always believed!) Many people unsubscribed to the magazine, and Jackson received a lot of hate mail because of it. The fictional story tells of the events that take place in a town once a year. As early as 1984, Whole Foods began expanding across the South and, soon afterwards, expanded to major cities around the U.S. with new stores and strategic acquisitions. • 15. The Importance Of The Public Education System Essay Specific purpose: After reading my paper, my audience will understand the importance of the public education system in America, as well as the areas in which it could improve to have a more meaningful, lasting effect on the students. I. Introduction A. Background 1. Higher education costs are rising and the demand for basic supplies and services are increasing exponentially, due to a growing population and a consumer society. a. This means that the career path for high school graduates is more diverse than the singular college route that the school system would like every student to believe is the best avenue to success. 2. Many students exit the education system with a lack of employability due to the gap of topics taught in school and the skills needed in entry level jobs. 3. Not all students prevail in the same topics, and as the system currently exists, a child who does not excel in one of the heavily tested subjects will likely fall behind. B. Thesis: The education system in America can be vastly improved if the curriculum is expanded to include vocational studies, teachers are paid more, and students are evaluated by their own skills. II. Body A. Vocational Studies 1. Explanation of current issue: In the article Is Algebra necessary? Andrew Hacker, an emeritus professor at Queens College, explains the immense amount of time and resources that are wasted to teach high school students higher level math that will likely never be used. • 19. Colonialism And Post Colonialism By Ania Loomba This reflection will discuss the concept of colonialism and post colonialism, with a particular focus on the impact in planning. Although both concepts are not new, Ania Loomba in her book Colonialism and Post Colonialism provides a more exhaustive research on the regards. She argues that colonialism is the physical occupation of territory whereas post colonialism deals with effect of colonization on culture and societies. She also expanded the concepts including two new terms imperialism and Neo colonialism. This is not only a semantic discussion but also a way to raise awareness of the (over)simplification that many authors have applied to studies in this field. Despite that there is some recognition that colonialism and post colonialism is important, Loomba raises some warnings in this regards. Although that most of the countries that were in one point of their history colonized by a western nation are freed now, they are facing a new type of domination: the domination through the economic system. In most of the cases some form of capitalism. Most of the development of the western nation are due to cheap (or free) labor and production factors that were obtained through violence from the colonized nations. Could Great Britain that industrialized nation without their colonies? So when These nation complains about the development ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New information is always being thrown at writers such as David Leonhardt, begging to be judged and characterized, not as good nor bad, but worthy of reading. Immigration is ingrained in our society as Americans, that s how America was born. In this article, David Leonhardt assesses the ins and outs of illegal immigration, while simultaneously stating his opinion on the matter. In this article, Leonhardt argues about the severity and use of prosecutorial discretion on laws of immigration and how it affects the American people. The author s credibility is established before, throughout, and at the end of the article by giving sources from media news, such as CNN and other publications from the New York Times. The problem with CNN being a media news source is that information isn t always proven true and is often opinionated. On , Karen Douglas, Business Insider, 2017 , from a poll taken of 3000 random participants, CNN was considered more or less distrustworthy. This poll supports the statistical evidence that declares CNN s information 47% untrue or false on (CNN File PunditFact 2017) . If David uses CNN for statistical reports to support his left sided point of view, how can we know if what he says is even true? We can t. However, the author uses emotional reasoning and empathy to sway the reader into understanding and accepting his point of view, even if the view is not 100% true. In the first paragraph, the author presents the reader with multiple quotes from the Former White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer. Spicer argues about the subject of prosecutorial discretion against Dreamer and uses Felony Tax Evasion to explain the absurdity of selectively choosing when to uphold laws. For Nike s business model to continually flourish and stay profitable, the senior management team and strategic planners must continually monitor short, intermediate and long term economic factors that will affect their operations. Nike s business model is heavily dependent on supply chains, as the majority of their products are manufactured in Asian nations, either in their own manufacturing centers or contract manufacturing partners. Sales forecasts for next generation shoes, apparel and sporting equipment must be accurate to ensure the supply chain estimates and forecasts can meet product demand. The influence of economic factors on sales and marketing planning and strategy development is among the most immediate and significant for any enterprise operating in global markets (Cerullo, Avila, 1975). Strategic planners at Nike, working in conjunction with product development and product launch teams, must understand the price elasticity of demand for a given new product or an entirely new division before launching it. I chose this argument topic because it involves my major in fashion and also an issue for which I can relate. The study of fashion and sociology can relate in some ways, therefore, this would be an interesting argumentative research topic. The first key point that I can use in my essay would be that children, especially teenagers, are judge by their peers based on their fashion choices. This claim supports my argument by showing that teenagers that are judged harshly, often feel forced to dress a certain way to be accepted. The second key point that I can use is that people of different cultures are expected to behave a certain way or have certain beliefs based on their attire. This key point supports my argument to show that stereotyping people based in their culture can cause result in issues within society. The last key point that I can use is that fashion choices express how someone feels and not how they are. Thus, we thought it would be fun to actually pick a team captain before beginning play, so that at the end of the game, we could tie in the importance of winning the game in order to avoid the sacrifice of the captain. • 28. Essay On Bayesian Analysis 2.1 Bayesian Analysis Before making research on Bayesian analysis we need to know more about Bayes theorem, which is the basis of the Bayesian analysis approach. For the first of all, we need to know who the founder of this theorem is. Thomas Bayes who is the mathematician is the person who first lodged Bayes theorem. In his article published in 1763, Bayes introduce a version of the equation of probability which is now known as Bayes theorem. When the first paper was published, there is little expectation that simple equation can solve many problems in the theory of chance. But after a hundred years later, Bayes theorem had become an important and currently as a basis for Bayesian statistical inference. To understand the Bayes theorem, we must first understand the conditional probability. Bayesian analysis facilitates the use of new information to update (modify) initial probability estimates. It is also can use historical probabilities to revise the probability estimates associated with a new project or process. It is a powerful risk assessment and management tool. Bayesian analysis generally requires that each component of a project or process have an associated estimated probability (chance of happening). It is primarily used to analyze the probabilities associated with the variables that compromise any process or project. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 30. Macbeth And The Grave Diggers In Hamlet By William... The scene takes place in the most suspenseful moment of the play. There has been a series of tragic scenes before the grave digger scene. Polonius is killed by Hamlet in Claudius s bed chamber and as a result Claudius orders Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to prepare to take Hamlet with them to England. Ophelia goes mad and soon Laertes arrives with mob. Soon Hamlet sends back letters to Horatio and the king that he is coming. So when the audience waits to see the ultimate outcome of all these happenings the two grave diggers come on the stage and engage themselves in a legalistic chop logic. Thus the grave diggers provide a broad comic relief to an otherwise deadly serious and grim tragedy. The occasional admission of comic ingredient in a tragedy or comic relief is used to calm down the tragic feeling momentarily in order to make it more intensifying. Though Aristotle in his Poetics does not make allowance for the dilution series action, the Elizabethan dramas are replete with instances of the combination of the comic and the tragic elements. This tendency of using the comic in tragedy and its final canonization also became popular in Shakespeare. The comic relief is a regular feature in Shakespeare. The part played by fool in Kinglear, porter in Macbeth is the same as the apart played by the grave diggers in Hamlet. However, it is very interesting to note that the mythology of the Vikings (Norse) has many similarities with the Greek myths. These myths are, by no means, identical to the Greek ones (like the Roman ones are), but there are very distinct commonalities between the two. I see two possible reasons for this besides pure coincidence. The first has to do with the fact that Norse myths were codified during the Viking era: 780 1070. • 33. Security Issues With Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol Abstract The paper discusses security issues with Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and four different approaches proposed to secure DHCP. DHCP assigns network parameters to existing and new clients. A misconfigured client is a big security breach as the traffic from and to such client can be intercepted. The two main issues with DHCP are rogue server and Media Access Control (MAC) address spoofing. The techniques discussed in the paper attempt at solving these problems by encrypting the plain text send in DHCP, using digital signatures and key exchange algorithms to maintain data integrity and security. 1. Introduction Internet grew rapidly over the last few decades. This has led to increase in the size of networks and number of network devices. The network infrastructure today needs improvement and changes daily, so adding new devices to network is very essential. The traditional way of assigning network configuration to clients with the help of a network administrator is difficult. DHCP has now owned the responsibility to perform this task. DHCP has its security issues because at the time of its development internet security was not as important as dynamic allocation of the network parameters were [2]. The major security concern in DHCP is interception of plaintext messages and illegitimate client or server that compromises the network. In section 4 of the paper, four different techniques to secure DHCP have been discussed. The first approach makes use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
