Explain Why I Admire Martin Luther King Jr.
First and for most, I admire Martin Luther King Jr. because he was exceptionally brave for making a
stand for colored people and their rights. He spoke for all colored people that couldn t or were too
scared to have a voice for themselves. By doing so, that itself speaks volumes about just the type of
person he was. Another reason, I admire MLK, is for being the successful preacher he was in such a
tough world he lived in back then. In February 1948, he became a preacher at an Ebenezer Baptist
church in Atlanta, Georgia. Being a preacher had a huge impact on how he protested because through
his inspirational speeches and his strong faith, he created great strategies on how to undertake his
protests in the most successful ways. Lastly, I admire

Physical Properties and Reactions of Period 3 Oxides
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE PERIOD 3 OXIDES
These pages explain the relationship between the physical properties of the oxides of Period 3
elements (sodium to chlorine) and their structures. Argon is obviously omitted because it doesn t form
an oxide.
A quick summary of the trends
The oxides
The oxides we ll be looking at are:
|Na2O |MgO |Al2O3 |SiO2 |P4O10 |SO3 |Cl2O7 |
| | | | |P4O6 |SO2 |Cl2O |
Those oxides in the top row are known as the highest oxides of the various elements. These are the
oxides where the Period 3 elements are in their highest oxidation states. In these oxides, all the outer
electrons in the Period 3 element are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What you can safely say is that because the metallic oxides and silicon dioxide have giant structures,
the melting and boiling points are all high.
Electrical conductivity
Silicon dioxide doesn t have any mobile electrons or ions so it doesn t conduct electricity either as a
solid or a liquid.
The molecular oxides
Phosphorus, sulphur and chlorine all form oxides which consist of molecules. Some of these
molecules are fairly simple others are polymeric. We are just going to look at some of the simple ones.
Melting and boiling points of these oxides will be much lower than those of the metal oxides or silicon
dioxide. The intermolecular forces holding one molecule to its neighbors will be van der Waals
dispersion forces or dipole dipole interactions. The strength of these will vary depending on the size of
the molecules.
None of these oxides conducts electricity either as solids or as liquids. None of them contains ions or
free electrons.
The phosphorus oxides
Phosphorus has two common oxides, phosphorus (III) oxide, P4O6, and phosphorus (V) oxide,
P4O10.
Phosphorus (III) oxide (tetraphosphorus hexoxide)
Phosphorus (III) oxide is a white solid, melting at 24°C and boiling at 173°C.
The phosphorus is using only three of its outer electrons (the 3 unpaired p electrons) to form bonds
with the oxygens.
Phosphorus (V) oxide (tetraphosphorus decoxide)
Phosphorus (V) oxide is also a white solid, subliming (turning straight

Traditions And Encounters Chapter 1 Essay
1) The three great Native American civilizations that existed in the Americas prior to European contact
were the Aztecs, Incas and Mayas. These three civilizations organized societies, carried on trade and
produced calendars.
2) The improvements in technology in the late 1400s that allowed European exploration of the
Western Hemisphere were the usage of gunpowder to battle against people, sailing compasses, and
there was the improvements of the ships/ the constant updating of the maps.
3) The religious motivation for European exploration and colonization s of the Americas was the
rivalry of European countries to impose their own form of Christianity to non Christians in the

Grand Narrative Analysis
One source of support for the legitimacy of science follows from the so called grand narrative which
presents a view of science as an objective, autonomous, self regulating and self correcting process.
Jerry Francis identifies three (3) underpinnings to the legitimacy of science but then notes that
scientific misconduct does occur. Based upon these three (3) mechanisms, briefly explain how or
where the grand narrative is likely to be at least partially naïve or idealistic.
Francis (1989) identifies three structures that underpin the legitimacy of the scientific grand narrative .
However, the dichotomy between the scientist s personal goals, and collective scientific goals means
that these structures are fundamentally flawed. There are three specific instances in which the
ideology of the grand narrative is flawed by human nature.
Firstly, rewards are not just internal. The grand narrative exists in a universe where everyone doing
research is solely motivated to produce research without any pressure from anything outside of their
desire to produce high quality research. However, this is idealistic. The reality is that researchers have
multiple sources of pressure to conduct and publish beyond their desire to do so. This shifts the
dynamics of grand narrative and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the siloed, specialist nature of research, papers are likely to be reviewed by their direct
competitors who have incentive to discredit contrary results. Additionally, researchers face incentives
geared towards quantity not quality of papers produced. Finally, the top schools have an uneven

compounded by the fact that those reviewing are most likely from top universities themselves and

Japanese American Internment Treatment
During World War II, the 1942 attack by Japan on US base, Pearl Harbor, resulted in the Executive
Order 9066. In result of the order the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) evacuated Japanese
residents to designated relocation camps governed by the War Relocation Authority (WRA). Many
Japanese residents sacrificed they possessions, careers, and even their health to remain as law abiding
citizens even under the questioning of their loyalty. Japanese Americans were considered as threats to
national security and became subject to racism and prejudice by the government. Japanese Americans
who were moribund or critically ill were allowed to stay in the excluded areas, but even the crippled

Close contact and rush, in the overcrowded conditions put many Japanese Americans at risk for
communicable diseases . (Jensen, Gwenn M.) Physicians anticipated the risks and carried out many
immunizations for diseases like smallpox, typhoid, diphtheria, and whooping cough during entry of
the camps. (Fiset, Louis) Among these epidemics, Tuberculosis stood as the biggest threat; WRA
predicted that 1.5 percent to be infected. A letter from Rowalt to Colonel Karl Bendetsen, head of the
WCCA, describes the attention needed to control the epidemic stating isolation as a greater necessity
than in the normal community. (Gwenn M. Jensen) The immunizations were one of the few things that
medical society aggressively pursued to support. But difficulty in administering to the masses still led
to infections. Approximately 120, 000 people were evacuated into WRA custody, 110,00 were
relocated or interned. (p.150, Kashima, Tetsuden) A small five hundred square feet of space was
usually allocated to seven people. (Gwenn M. Jensen) Several hospitals, mess halls, and buildings
were incomplete to house the prisoners. Many of the hospitals that were scheduled to be completed by
the time of the exclusion were behind and some didn t complete till 1942. (p. 163, Kashima, Tetsuden)

Directed by French film director, Louis Leterrior, Now You See Me tells a thrilling story of vengeance
and betrayal. Leterrior beautifully constructs the perfect tale, loaded with suspense, mystery, and
magic. Complete with an amazing cast of Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Woody
Harrelson, and Mark Ruffalo, Leterrior attempts to alter the standard mindset of the saying, what you
see is what you get . Succeeding, the director conveys this point by blurring the lines between good
and evil, using targeted deception, and committing revenge. One of the very first messages the director
tries to convey is the concept that humans naturally study the unknown very closely in order to gain
knowledge and understand a given subject. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Atlas, the ring leader and an illusionist, and Merritt, the mentalist, all come together to do the
unthinkable. Individually unique for their mastery in a specific part of magic, and collectively strong
and unstoppable for the combined amount of effort, knowledge, and talent that they possess. During
the introductory phase of the movie, Dylan is seen watching and secretly notifying each member of his

the occurrence of events. He leaves cards for each of his selected magicians which tell them to meet at
a certain date, place, and time. In the movie, once they reach this destination, the steps of the plan are
revealed to them in the form of a three dimensional hologram.
The film instantly fast forwards a year to reveal that the four magicians are now famous performers.
As a successful group, they now call themselves The Four Horsemen. The scene is set at the end of
one of their shows where the horsemen attempt to rob a bank! The audience and all viewers are under
the impression that the person chosen to reveal and rob his bank was selected at random, but, as part
of the plan, the French bank was specifically targeted by Dylan to get revenge on the bank that would

Enron s physical market presence (owning the pipelines and charging a price for distribution that was
proportional to the spot price of gas it might purchase) helped mitigate the risk of a price increase of
the gas it was purchasing.7
In response to the problem of getting producers to sign long term contracts to supply gas, Enron
started giving such producers cash up front instead of payment over the life of the contracts. Enron
then allowed the natural gas con tracts it devised which were quite complex and variable, depending
on different pricing, capacity, and transportafion parameters to be traded.
Enron Expands beyond Natural Gas
Enron decided to apply its gas trading model to other markets, branching out into electricity and other
commodity markets, such as paper and chemicals. To accomplish its expansion strategy, Enron sought
to pursue an asset light strategy.
Enron s goal was to achieve the advantages of a presence in the physical market without the
disadvantages of huge fixed capital expenditures. For example, in nat ural gas, Enron divested its
assets related to pumping gas at the welll iead or selling gas to customers, and then set out to acquire

The African American Portrayal Of The Film Genre, Big...
The African American portrayal in white American entertainment, especially in films has produced
malicious and ignorant beliefs of the everyday Black person. Entertainment venues such as minstrel
shows and silent films are causes to today s stereotypical views of African Americans. The African
American community along with other American ethnic cultures had enough; therefore, between 1915
and 1950, the race film genre began its movement to increase positive cultural awareness to the world.
This paper will examine three key elements (Keywords, Unspoken Cues, and Threads) from the films,
Big Timers (1945) and Dirty Gertie from Harlem U.S.A. (1946) in explaining their significance
impact and their fitting into the paradigm of race film genre. The race film genre is a source of
important material highlighting the African American culture. The genre not only focused on culture,
but also emphasized African American talent, Black s ability to film, produce, and direct a motion
picture, and most importantly, the genre exposed the world to the real African American individual
and family. Although many of these films were only shown and marketed to colored only theaters,
films like Harlem of Prairie (1937) and The Blood of Jesus (1941) are notable films that struck a core
with both White and Black Americans. These are a few of the forgotten race films that have provided
today s African Americans with a sense of encouragement and confidence to continue to fight the

Subcultures In America
According to our textbook, subculture is a segment of society that shares a distinctive pattern of
customs, rules, and traditions. (Schaefer, pp 69) to make this concept more understandable subculture
is just a group that have different norms and value than the majority has. I think that is not easy to
make a list of subcultures in this country, or even in this city (Hot Springs) Subcultures are
sociological phenomena that tend to change over the time. Those changes can lead to create new
subcultures and/or make disappearing the old ones. Some subcultures can be created, and some people
has no choice and they born into a specific subculture.

American Beauty By Sam Mendes
American Beauty (1999) is directed by Sam Mendes (also the director of Skyfall and Spectre) and
stars Kevin Spacey which examines the ordinary occurances of a family who live a desirable life but
are unhappy and stagnant. Kevin Spacey plays the role of Lester Burnham, a suburban father and who
is tired of his boring job and family. Within the film are many themes, the most important of these
being lust and beauty. The film applies many visual effects to demonstrate the overall desired tone,
and helps to implicitly present a false sense of the american dream . American Beauty demonstrates a
clear presentation of longing within relationships or lifestyles, and uses filming techniques to imply
these hidden themes.
The main theme demonstrated throughout the film is seeming, and how it relates to true nature. Each
character within the film shows an awareness of the struggles seeming brings, and eventually
confronts it. Carolyn is the prime example, as constantly within the film she struggles to progress
within her career and attempts to be happy in doing so. This is shown in the scene where she attempts
to sell a house, fails to do so, and physically abuses herself as punishment. Colonel Fitts (Ricky s
father) also struggles with appearance, as he constantly tells Ricky homosexuality is disgusting, and
nearing the end of the film we find Fitts is homosexual himself. This challenges his interpretation of
masculinity and what he has believed his entire life. A huge element

How You Demonstrate The Character Traits Traid In The Letter
1. Explain how you demonstrate the character traits mentioned in the letter. Honesty I dislike lying.
People whom are good liars frighten me. I don t admire them and I would even go as far as to say they
re dangerous. Their lack of morals shocks and worries me. I am the opposite. I watch my words and
make sure they are transparent and true. I do my best to prove as often as possible that I am
completely trustworthy. I fear lies because I do not like the idea of someone lying to me. Lying is
certainly not a positive thing. Leader I am an honorable leader because I always make the best of
others so they can reach their goals, as well as being honest to them at the same time. I strive to reach
my goals the most effective way for my peers and I. I will make sure my peers do not give up, as well
as I will make sure my peers do not give up, as well as myself not giving up either. I will not stay
satisfied if I know that we, ladies of distinction, can do even better. I will keep us going and help
everyone so we can work as a team. Trustworthy I want to be the type of friend someone can come to
and be able to tell me their worries without worrying I ll tell anyone else. If a secret needs to be kept,
then kept it will be. I would not want to ruin my friendship or anyone else s friendship because of a
secret I told. The only exception would be if it s something that could hurt that person or others. I
would convince them to stop whatever they re doing and if that wouldn t work

Ancient Greek Art And Its Impact On Ancient Greece
Ancient Greek art has been one of the most influential art forms in the past centuries. The Keros
sculptures predominantly stand out while referring to the ancient Greek scluptures and art. The Keros
sculptures were carved purely out of marble and were a form of Cycladic art that was created in a
small island called Cyclades in 2600 2400 B.C. The Cycladic Islands of Greece are set in the Aegean
Sea. The ancient Greeks called these islands the kyklades, a scattered kyklos, or circle, of islands
around the holy island and sanctuary of Apollo, Delos.
The very first Keros sculpture was founded in the year 1963 by Lord Renfrew. The only unfortunate
event that occurred during excavation was that almost none of these Keros sculptures were found in
their complete form. Only fragments of these sculptures remained. It has been noticed, that all through
history, the Keros scultpures have been incrediblly difficult to analyze and interpret due to lack of
background information and it s obvious missing parts. An abudance of myths surround these
sculptures since Ancient Greece is also known for its devotion to Greek mythology. The significance,
use, and meaning of the figures are unclear. There is even debate about whether the figures were
meant to lie flat or to stand against a wall there is no definitive evidence either way. Numerous
explanations about the significance of the figurines have been proposed: the figurines may have been

What Are The Positive And Negative Impact Of Immigration...
LESSON 15 Immigration and Urban Growth
Objectives:
Identify which countries most of the immigrants came from and why immigrants flocked to the United
States
Identify the positive and negative impact of immigrants on the United States
Identify the positive and negative traits of American Politics during this time period
Immigrants and America, the Melting Pot begins.
Between 1870 and 1920, about 20 million Europeans immigrated to the United States. Many of them
came from eastern and southern Europe, which had not provided large numbers of immigrants before.
Some, like Jews, fled religious persecution. Other immigrants came to the United States to escape
economic hardship. Many left Europe full of ideas for reform and political freedom denied to them in
the past.
About 200,000 Chinese immigrants came from 1851 to 1883. Many thousand immigrants came from
Japan as well. From 1880 to 1920, about 260,000 immigrants came from the Caribbean. Many
Mexicans immigrated to the United States as well. Many Mexicans became part of the country when
territory was added after the Mexican War. About a million immigrants came from 1910 to 1930 to
escape turmoil in Mexico.
Most immigrants traveled by steamship, riding in steerage, the cargo holds below the ship s waterline.
Conditions were cramped, with little light or air and were unclean. Immigrants often suffered from
disease. Immigrants who arrived in New York were processed at Ellis Island. The process, which took

Miss Beck essay 19 May 2017 Archduke Franz Ferdinand
In Cold Childhood Childhood is the most important part of life; it creates the mold that humans fit into
for the rest of their lives. Human beings, whether or not they realize, act and think based on their
childhoods and the way they had been raised. In the novel In Cold Blood, Perry Smith had a tragic
childhood; he had neither the feeling of family nor people around to help him. Later in life, Perry met
Dick Hickock, who was somebody he often viewed as a friend and somebody to be around, even
though Dick often manipulated Perry. Eventually, Perry killed four people in order to stay close with
Dick, considering that he had nobody else. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dick never abandoned Perry, which allowed Perry appreciate Dick s company, even though Dick used
him for his own benefit. Perry s relationship with Dick reflects how he feels about the disaster in his
family during his childhood. His parents splitting up showed how unstable of a relationship they had,
while his relationship with Dick remained stable. He did whatever he could to stay close with Dick,
considering that his family was never close when he was younger.
Additionally, after Perry s mother found out that he was making an effort to see his father, she threw
him out and sent him to a Catholic orphanage for defying her orders. He often faced physical and
mental abuse. As he mentioned about the dreaded place in the novel, ...The one where the Black
Widows were always at me. Hitting me. Because of wetting the bed. Which is one reason I have an
aversion to nuns... (Capote 132) Additionally, nobody at the orphanage stuck up for him as he was
mistreated; nobody liked him or had his back. Dick, on the other hand, started to truly become fond of
Perry; as it is mentioned in the novel, ... but Dick became convinced that Perry was that rarity, a
natural killer absolutely sane, but conscienceless, and capable of dealing, with or without motive, the
coldest blooded deathblows. It was Dick s theory that such a gift could, under his

What Is My Teddy Bear Essay
Being sentimental about the things that are given and sent to me from family, reading and being
educated are very important to me and gives a good description of who I am. However, I am very
distinctive, I love that about myself and it is very astonishing to people. What makes me distinctive is
the love I have for my family, sentimental values for my letters and teddy bears that were written to
me from my grandma and great aunt who she unfortunately passes away; sometimes I need that space
to get away and think and read. The love I have for books is unbelievable, I love a good book. All of
these characteristics define who I am right now. A big part of me and my happiness are my teddy
bears. The teddy bears I have were given to me, at some point in my past, from someone who truly
meant a lot to me. One of the teddy bears I have collected was given to me in 3rd grade from this boy
I really liked, he surprised me with chocolate, balloons, and a medium sized furry, pink teddy. It was
so adorable. Although he is not my boyfriend now, he meant something to me then, he was my first

I cherish every letter that I have gotten from them. When my aunt passed away, I could not have been
more grateful that I kept those letters, that told me they missed and loved me and could not wait to see

just call up and see how she was doing, hear about her day, and just hear her voice. I keep letters that
were given to me from my parents on my birthdays. I keep them to reread and reminisce

Franklin (1987) also alluded that patriarchy did not serve black men; the notion of black men being
domineering over groups is questionable. Besides, Pleck (2008) claimed that the male heterosexual
homosexual dichotomy is used as the main symbolic tool defining the rankings of masculinity.
Highlighting racial politics, it would be interesting to have a study focusing on the power relations
between white gay men and black heterosexual men. This is premised on the stance that the racial
hierarchy, regardless of its dismissal, seems to continue to characterise socio economic relations. ????

Erasmus (2008) stated that apartheid discourse merged race, class, culture and nation together. While
MacDonald (2006) argued that apartheid is rightly perceived as racism, it was also racialist. Racialists
view race as a source of identity which marks difference between human beings. They regard
identities as axes of political institutions and then urge states to be organized on the basis of race.
Whitehead and Barret (2001) stated that in white supremacist contexts, black masculinities play
symbolic roles for white gender constructions whereby whiteness and white men and women are the
norm and blackness is the Other.
Seekings (2008) buttresses this viewpoint as he argued that apartheid was a system aimed at ordering
society and explicitly according to racial categories and this was achieved utilizing state power and its
apparatuses. Apartheid entrenched radicalized identities and fostered racial division at the same time
as exacerbating inequality in the distribution of income (Seekings, 2008: 5). Seekings (2008) also
cited that the apartheid regime had three broad objectives. The first one was ideological in effort to
maintain racial purity; policies prohibiting inter racial marriage were formulated. Residential
segregation was also enacted as part of this endeavour. Another objective cited by Seekings (2008) is
that apartheid was utilized to establish and maintain economic privilege for the white

Freud And The Ego Ideal Research Paper
According to Freud, the ego ideal is the source of narcissism that relates to repression and the
unconscious, topics explored in his other theories. In this essay, he discusses the ego ideal and the
actual ego. The ego ideal is the representation of what one wants to become. It is the perfect, idealized
version of one s self. The actual ego is the reality of that person. The ego ideal ultimately serves the
pleasure principle. One of the opposing drives Freud presents is the drive for pleasure. An argument
Freud presents in his essay is where does self serving for pleasure end and fulfilment of
responsibilities begin? Our impulses drive us to nourish and protect ourselves. This drive, part of the
pleasure principle, is an effect of the ideal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His ideas of actual love relate to narcissism in regards to the understanding of love. In other words,
love and narcissism seem to go hand in hand. The concept of narcissism was developed in part by
studying psychosis and, pragmatically, narcissism explained the intractability of psychosis to
psychoanalysis (Sharpless, 211). Sharpless uses Freud s theories of narcissism to not only report the
facts, but to use his theories in action. Where does love come from? Where does narcissism come
from? In this essay, Sharpless states the love derives from narcissism, an idea that is supported by
Freud s theories. The use of Freud in this essay concerning romantic love leads to the conclusion that
love comes from the unconscious. Our ego believes that it is controlling our thoughts and actions.
However, it is likely that the unconscious makes the ego believe this and instead, controls what we
think, say, and do without our conscious recognition. If love is connected to narcissism, Sharpless
theorizes that actual love is connected to pain for the lover. Coming to a happy love and working
through the impediments to reach such a state entails the gaining of self knowledge and a continual
modification of one s ego to a state that is likely commensurable with the lover s (Sharpless, 223).

Consumer Bill of Rights
Introduction The term consumer protection in legislations and organizations aimed at ensuring that the
rights of consumers are protected. It also ensures that fair trade practices are implemented. Moreover,
these laws ensure that there is free flow of information in the marketplace (Cranston, 1978). Consumer
protection laws are supposed to stop businesses from gaining an unfair advantage over competitors. At
the same time, it protects all stakeholders from fraud that may be perpetrated by the business. Other
than customers, these laws provide protection for the vulnerable consumers in society. The four
consumer rights are the rights of safety, of information, of choice and the right to be heard (Bevans,
2011).
Before the end of the twentieth century, consumer rights were limited. This was about customer
product interaction as well as commercial producers. Consumers could not defend themselves against
defective products as well as misleading advertising methods. The consumer movement began to
gather momentum with greater member numbers. Things were better at the close of the 1950s
whereby an aggrieved customer only had to show injury following the use of the product. This was
unlike earlier times when consumers had no protection against corporate negligence. The person who
drafted the Consumer Bill of Rights was Helen Ewing Nelson. The document was written during
Kennedy s campaign for president where he promised to protect consumers (Howells, 2005).

The popularity of social networking sites is relatively recent and the effect of online social networking

Recent studies, for example, Golder, Wilkinson and Huberman (2007), Arvanitis and Loukis (in press)
and Coyle and Vaughn (2008:13−17) concur that social networks are typical characterisations of
human behaviour to fulfil the need to communicate and connect with people they know, meet new
people who share a common interest, collaborate, participate and share information and knowledge as
well as gain new knowledge. Generally, these are also the reasons why individuals engage in social
behaviour via the Internet. To many, the Internet provides effective social networking opportunities
and their online behaviour includes building individual relationships, expanding their personal
network of friends, finding people who have had similar experiences, discussing common topics of
interest, dating and finding potential life partners, staying connected to old friends or distant family
and virtually meeting peers, including work colleagues, to discuss current issues or topics of interest.

The Convergence Of Old Media With New Media
This essay will be assessing the convergence of old media with new media through the examination of
their uses within the film Johnny Mnemonic (Longo 1995). Along with convergence theory, this essay
will touch on Dystopianism, Vincent Mosco s Myth , and the notion of Symptomatic technology. It is
the intention of this paper to cover each topic in turn, using them to pick apart and examine the sample
film. Johnny Mnemonic is the 1995 film adaptation of William Gibson s short story by the same title.

As in this example, Convergence relies extensively on the active participation of the medium s users.
In this vein, the producers of convergence media actively encourage users to explore and make further
connections between multiple media outlets, creating in the process, a shift in the cultures of the users
(Jenkins 2006). Convergence of media doesn t simply happen across various media sources within one
culture, but can also connect varying media outlets in differing cultures simultaneously. Johnny made

the individual terminal to the main server of the Net. The entire world which Johnny inhabits is
comprised of convergent technologies. At the start of the film, Johnny is awoken by an alarm that is

The Act That Ignited the Revolution Essay
Prior to gaining its independence, America endured various controlling methods brought on by the
Crown that were focused on directly benefiting Britain, rather than Britain providing much needed
support and assistance to the colonists attempting to settle the new rugged land. While attempts to
control every aspect of daily life in the colonies was nothing new, the most critical and obviously
selfish move was The Stamp Act of 1775 (Tindall Shi, 2010). This tax, proposed by Chief Minister of
Britain, George Grenville, and enforced by King George III, was the first law or tax passed without

without representation of the mainstream society, Britain did provide the larger cities with an
opportunity to voice concern to various Representatives and Governors appointed by the Crown
(Tindall Shi, 2010). The Stamp Act was different in that not only did it have the largest affect on day
to day life of the businessmen, who were the most vocal and influential colonists, it was imposed
without any opportunity to voice alternative solutions from the colonists or the appointed officials
present in the colonies (Tindall Shi, 2010). The famous quote, No taxation without representation
displays the outrage this selfish British act caused among the colonists. This was the first move made
by King George III that showed that he intended to use Britain s new land for revenue building during
his reign and this patronizing and disrespectful act ignited a series of events that became the American
Revolution (Tindall Shi, 2010). Driven by their anger toward the Crown for implementing this
thoughtless tax, the colonists began to unite despite their varying religious and political views. This
was the first time the colonist came together and looked past their differences for the good of the
colonies as a whole. Bostonians displayed their outrage by hanging a disrespectful depiction

I. Introduction:
Statement of Problem.
In 2003, the company experienced a major increase of problems with the
Local Area Network (LAN). The LAN downtime has double from previous years. There s also an
increase of maintenance problem with computers systems this includes hardware and software. Some
user s have acquired the authority to load there own software on their system, this has attributed to
some user s purchasing or borrowing software from unimproved sources and loading them on to their
systems. If these actions continue it may cause irreversible damage to our information system. This is

Most maintenance and security problems are occurred due to lack of guidance. Personnel assigned to
the company are unaware of the many variables that effect one of the company s primary forms of
communication, both external and internal.
Needs
The lack of guidance for use of computers and the LAN is contributing to the requirement for
excessive maintenance of the company s hardware, software and LAN. By addressing this problem
immediately, we can prevent hackers from interdicting the company LAN, set a baseline for the
company information security plan, and alleviate unscheduled maintenance on network infrastructure.
Scope
The proposed plan includes a detailed assessment of the methods, costs and materials, personnel
requirements, feasibility, and expected results.
II. Body
Proposed Plan.
1. Phases of the Plan:
a. Informing all employees, on the Proper Use of Computers and

Date: December 12, 2015
RE: Implementation and Reporting for Hedge Accounting
Facts:
Thomas Foods wishes to insulate the company from the financial blow of large increases in the prices
of produce from local farmers. The main factor that would cause this unexpected change in price that
Thomas Foods should be concerned with is the possible fluctuation of weather conditions. Thomas
Foods is interested in determining whether or not hedge accounting would be the best solution to
protect the company s operating income. If the company elects to implement a hedge accounting
system, the Controller of the company must be informed of the accounting treatments involved when
dealing with cash flow and fair value hedge accounting, the two most common forms of hedge
accounting.
Issues:
1. Will implementing a hedging strategy help to alleviate the risks of price increases and benefit
Thomas Foods financially when it comes to purchasing produce from local farmers?
2. Which hedge accounting strategy or alternative method will be most beneficial to Thomas Foods
and ensure minimal loss in operating income?
3. How can the accounting treatments of the newly implemented strategy be best explained to the
Controller of Thomas Foods?
Conclusions:
1. Hedge accounting strategies are best implemented when dealing with transactions from the original
source. In this particular situation, the local farmer would be considered the original source because he

Ethical Behavior In The White House
Ethical behavior in the White House has been a topic of interest since the latest President of the United
States has taken office and begun appointing people into positions of power and influence. From a
principle based ethical approach we will take the view that sometimes the correct path is determined
not by the consequences but by certain standards or duties. This stance means that the ends do not
justify the means like the utilitarian approach does. Principle based decision making relies on a set of
time tested principles, such as honesty, respect, equality, fairness, and courage that can guide a person
in a position of power in dealing with some of the morally ambiguous situations such as corruption,
abuse of power, conduct on and off the camera and general treatment of the civilian population. ...

In this report we analyzed Cohen s approach in calculating WACC. After observing how Cohen
derived his figures we came up with our own WACC, terminal value, and EPS.
Cohen broke down his calculations into five parts 1) Single or Multiple Costs of Capital 2) Proportion
of capital from debt and equity 3) Cost of Debt 4) Cost of Equity 5) WACC
In part one; we disagreed with Cohen where he decided to value the company as a whole instead of
valuing each division separately. Since Nike is a multidivisional firm Cohen should of aggregated the
values of the individual divisions and calculate a different cost of capital for each one. Since the

The beta is the 0.69 YTD 06/30/2001 figure and our risk premium is the arithmetic mean. Both are
found in exhibit 4. We used the arithmetic mean because it is a better indicator of the average returns
in the past and 71% of financial analysts prefer arithmetic mean over geometric mean. Geometric
mean is not preferred because (PLEASE ADD WHY NOT HERE. I REMEBER BOB DOING AN
EXAMPLE IN CLASS WHERE GEOMETRIC MEAN IS A TRICK ON STUIPID INVESTORS).
Here is our calculation of CAPM.
CAPM=5.39%+0.69(7.50%). CAPM= 10.6%
In Part 5 we can summarize our calculations for WACC. Table 1.2 shows our WACC. | Portion | Cost
(K) | Contribution to WACC | Common Share | 30.57% | 10.60% | 3.24% | Debt | 69.43% | 9% | 6.25%
| | | WACC | 9.49% |
Our WACC is higher than Cohen s because of the portions allocated to debt and equity, and the use of
market value to calculate cost of debt.
Since WACC has changed the terminal value will also change. The formula for terminal value= year
10 FCF*(1+L T growth)/ (WACC L T growth). We used the L T growth in exhibit 4, which is forecast
of dividend growth at 5.50%. Therefore the new terminal value is 41,584. Since terminal value has
changed the discounted present value of future cash flow will also change. The new discounted PV of
FCF less debt is 21,224. The new EPS is $67.50 (21,224/271.5).

which he most famously does by labeling them as phony . He associates the term phony with things

strategy is directly related to the mood, which is to be created and maintained. For example if
someone is criticizing the government, the tome is usually kept serious and Irony and satire are widely
used in such writings. On the other hand while describing the recent developments in genetic
engineering, the tone would be objective and humor or satire would be ineffective here.
Jonathan Swift was famous for his sarcastic remarks on the government of his days and his works are
full of satire and irony which appear to be humorous but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I am not in the least pain upon that matter, because it is very well known that they are every day
dying and rotting by cold and famine, and filth and vermin, as fast as can be reasonably expected.
Swift was not the only one who applied the technique of irony to convey his message more effectively,
there were several other people who from time to time have made use of satire with irony to comment
on or oppose to certain views and ideas. Martin Luther King Jr. was the champion of human rights
who spoke extensively for the rights of African Americans. He became an icon for the black
community because of his highly emotional speeches and his writings, which focused on the subject
of equal rights for black men and women in the United States.
His Letters from the Birmingham jail are valued for their emotional content and their comments on his
own activities. These letters cannot exactly be termed satirical or ironical in tone. In fact compared to
Swift s works, King s letters would probably appear polite. But there are certain portions where he has
used irony very effectively for example in his response to clergymen who had criticized King s
activities, he said in his letter, While confined here in the Birmingham city jail, I came across your
recent statement calling my present activities unwise and untimely. Seldom do I

Functional Adult
It is a general belief of parenting and caretaking that we must protect children from all harm and every
negative circumstance no matter how naturally occurring from every scraped knee or every mean
word said by classmates. Many children in America have parents that cater to their every need, give
them constant attention, and fill their days with structured activity. This, of course, is not the worst
thing you can do for a young child, but as they get older and the long term effects become clearer; this
type of parenting can cause serious problems for their children s futures. Perhaps even keep children
from growing into successful adults and functioning members of society. There comes a point in
everyone s life when we no longer have our parents or caretakers to hold our hand through the trials of
life, and everyone should be moderately prepared for that point. For the sake of this essay, I am
loosely defining the term successful as functional, independent, and resilient. Additionally, I would
like to indicate that this argument is only relevant to people born in the ... Show more content on

Tasks such as managing your own laundry, cooking a healthy meal, making their own doctors
appointments, and properly cleaning a bathroom seem particularly foreign to many students. With
college campus laundry services and meal plans, who needs to teach their adolescents how to do any
of those tasks? I personally remember touring the University of Denver campus on a sunny day in
May, 2016. When shown the dorms, one of the mothers in my tour group asked, But who cleans the
bathrooms in the Towers suites? The tour guide responded with, Well, the students, of course. The
inquirer was shocked, to say the least. An eighteen year old boy cleaning his own toilet shouldn t be
surprising to anyone, least of all his

August 21, 2015 3. Key Concepts
3.1 Six Sigma Six Sigma is a quality improvement philosophy and a methodology and collection of
statistical techniques used to implement that philosophy. Six Sigma s focuses on reducing or removing
identifiable sources of changes in order to decrease the number of defects in a product. Six Sigma was
developed by Bill Smith and was used to standardize the way in which defects are tallied (Meredith,
2013). As a new way of doing business, six sigma can have a significant impact on the end result of
business. There are many way six sigma can be applied. For example, the scientific component of

3.6. Brainstorming
Brainstorming is a very popular and commonly used problem solving technique in business (Zhao
Hou, 2010). It is a technique that allows the people in an organization to work together to identify
challenges, opportunities, determine outcomes, solve problems, and create innovative ideas. An
advertising executive named Alex Osborn first developed the concept in the 1950 s. The basis for the
development of brainstorming is the old saying two heads are better than one. When Osborn created
the concept of brainstorming, he developed the four following guidelines:
1. Come up with as many ideas as you possibly can
2. Do not make fun of the ideas of others during the brainstorming session
3. Extend, improve, and/or combine on one another s ideas
4. Express every idea no matter how weird or ridiculous they may

Cameron Balloons
Cameron Balloons is the world s largest manufacturer of hot air balloons.
On average, their factory in the United Kingdom builds one balloon a day but together with their
United States factory the company produces on average more than one balloon per day, everyday of
the year. And in 1996 the company turnover was almost £7,000,000. (http://www.bized.co.uk)
From the operations manager s point of view, inventories are a tool which provide efficient operation
of the production facilities. There are no specific level of inventories which are more desirable as they
are allowed to fluctuate so that production can be adjusted to its most efficient level. (Meredith Shafer.
2007)
Effective inventory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, for the specialised hot air balloons this is not possible but the basic materials are held in
inventory. (Slack Chambers. 2004)
Reducing costs are an aim in every organisation and thus another reason for Cameron Balloons to hold
stock. Cameron Balloons benefit from bulk buying in order to get the lowest cost possible for its
materials but in return, they also have to be prepared to hold the stock for a period of time. The
operations manager for Cameron Balloons decides to make infrequent large orders to reduce the
number of orders made and also the associated costs to do with administration and handling costs.
Hence the long production runs will help cut down production costs for the company but holding large
inventories is a must for this. (Slack Chambers. 2004)
Other advantages to this are that this enables Cameron Balloons to spread the costs of purchasing the
materials over a large number of input units and also to purchase the materials in advance avoiding
any price increases that may occur in the near future.
Cameron Balloons are the leader in the hot air balloons market which is a very competitive market and
has suffered from over capacity . Thus this is more of a reason for them to be efficient and vigilent on
the costs and how much they compare to their competitiors.

Phillips Summer Camp Narrative Report
At Phillips Summer Camp this summer, our Boy Scout Troop 24 were very disappointed in the camps
food. Day after day the food would be bad or there would not be enough for all of us. One night for
dinner we had a meatball sub and they told us it was going to be like Sub Way well it was nothing like
it, and our Junior Assistant Scoutmaster became enraged how bad the food was. He wanted to talk...
As we were walking over the Junior Scoutmaster said he would knock politely and actually talk, but
there was none of that. Once we got there he slammed on the the head chef answered, we all ran back

Advantages And Disadvantages Of An Organization
Each person is unique and have different beliefs and lifestyles. It is very rare to find two individuals
who are exactly alike when referring to the way of thinking and interpreting many things. People may
come from the same background, but tend to have different perspectives about certain situations.
Culture is defined in many ways and can be defined differently in the workplace, in a family, or at a
restaurant. As stated before, people can obtain a certain culture. Different generations may inherit the
same culture, and an organization may have a certain culture they practice.
If everyone tend to think the same, will there be new discoveries and theories? If everyone was the
same, will there be less discrimination and judgement? These questions both emphasize the benefits of
an organization that may have members who live by the same culture and disadvantages when there
are various cultures in an organization. In this world today, people most likely experience these
advantages and disadvantages in an organization. People should be able to view the world through a
cultural lense, especially in the workplace. During the hiring process, Theobald seeks for students who
have exposure to people from different cultural backgrounds or those who are open to interact with
students with different learning styles. In the writing center there are many students who come from
different cultural backgrounds. English is usually their second language. With this being said,

The, Gone Home, And The Video Game
During the readings and observations of the articles from Mahiri/Sablo, and the video game Gone
Home seems as if literacy such as writing, reading and language became well know for
communicating and associating with people who come from our/different discourse communities and
backgrounds. Both articles explain the cultural meaning of literacy and voluntary writing their way for
others like myself to correlate and understand. The two African Americans (Troy and Keisha)
developed their literacy skills to incorporate their ways of how they feel and talk about specific
reasoning and situations. The game gone home provides skills such as text, language and verbal
communication to benefit how people associate and understand how it s processed. These articles are
appealing and provide an importance for writing and communication with people who in their
environment. There are many discourse communities who provide their own unique way of writing. If
we decide to come to the terms of accepting how they interact with others in their own way, Our
species will enhance its diversity and build more acceptance towards other discourse communities and
individuals. Researchers and journalist are observing their work with other discourse communities
around the world. People use literacy and voluntary writing to understand the ability of how to read
and write in ways for others and themselves. For those who don t know the meaning of literacy,
literacy defines the ability to read and

My High School Football Career
It all started freshman year when I was playing football. It was the worst day of my sports career that I
have ever experienced in my life. It was the first play in my high school football career and it was a
punt. I ran down the field and made the tackle. As I was making the tackle someone hit my elbow and
they broke it. I went to the hospital and they put me in a cast for four weeks. After the four weeks
were over the doctor took my cast off and said everything was fine. The rest of the year it felt good.

  • 2. Explain Why I Admire Martin Luther King Jr. First and for most, I admire Martin Luther King Jr. because he was exceptionally brave for making a stand for colored people and their rights. He spoke for all colored people that couldn t or were too scared to have a voice for themselves. By doing so, that itself speaks volumes about just the type of person he was. Another reason, I admire MLK, is for being the successful preacher he was in such a tough world he lived in back then. In February 1948, he became a preacher at an Ebenezer Baptist church in Atlanta, Georgia. Being a preacher had a huge impact on how he protested because through his inspirational speeches and his strong faith, he created great strategies on how to undertake his protests in the most successful ways. Lastly, I admire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What you can safely say is that because the metallic oxides and silicon dioxide have giant structures, the melting and boiling points are all high. Electrical conductivity Silicon dioxide doesn t have any mobile electrons or ions so it doesn t conduct electricity either as a solid or a liquid. The molecular oxides Phosphorus, sulphur and chlorine all form oxides which consist of molecules. Some of these molecules are fairly simple others are polymeric. We are just going to look at some of the simple ones. Melting and boiling points of these oxides will be much lower than those of the metal oxides or silicon dioxide. The intermolecular forces holding one molecule to its neighbors will be van der Waals dispersion forces or dipole dipole interactions. The strength of these will vary depending on the size of the molecules. None of these oxides conducts electricity either as solids or as liquids. None of them contains ions or free electrons. The phosphorus oxides Phosphorus has two common oxides, phosphorus (III) oxide, P4O6, and phosphorus (V) oxide, P4O10. Phosphorus (III) oxide (tetraphosphorus hexoxide) Phosphorus (III) oxide is a white solid, melting at 24°C and boiling at 173°C. • 7. Grand Narrative Analysis One source of support for the legitimacy of science follows from the so called grand narrative which presents a view of science as an objective, autonomous, self regulating and self correcting process. Jerry Francis identifies three (3) underpinnings to the legitimacy of science but then notes that scientific misconduct does occur. Based upon these three (3) mechanisms, briefly explain how or where the grand narrative is likely to be at least partially naïve or idealistic. Francis (1989) identifies three structures that underpin the legitimacy of the scientific grand narrative . However, the dichotomy between the scientist s personal goals, and collective scientific goals means that these structures are fundamentally flawed. There are three specific instances in which the ideology of the grand narrative is flawed by human nature. Firstly, rewards are not just internal. The grand narrative exists in a universe where everyone doing research is solely motivated to produce research without any pressure from anything outside of their desire to produce high quality research. However, this is idealistic. The reality is that researchers have multiple sources of pressure to conduct and publish beyond their desire to do so. This shifts the dynamics of grand narrative and ... The African American portrayal in white American entertainment, especially in films has produced malicious and ignorant beliefs of the everyday Black person. Entertainment venues such as minstrel shows and silent films are causes to today s stereotypical views of African Americans. The African American community along with other American ethnic cultures had enough; therefore, between 1915 and 1950, the race film genre began its movement to increase positive cultural awareness to the world. This paper will examine three key elements (Keywords, Unspoken Cues, and Threads) from the films, Big Timers (1945) and Dirty Gertie from Harlem U.S.A. (1946) in explaining their significance impact and their fitting into the paradigm of race film genre. The race film genre is a source of important material highlighting the African American culture. The genre not only focused on culture, but also emphasized African American talent, Black s ability to film, produce, and direct a motion picture, and most importantly, the genre exposed the world to the real African American individual and family. Although many of these films were only shown and marketed to colored only theaters, films like Harlem of Prairie (1937) and The Blood of Jesus (1941) are notable films that struck a core with both White and Black Americans. American Beauty By Sam Mendes American Beauty (1999) is directed by Sam Mendes (also the director of Skyfall and Spectre) and stars Kevin Spacey which examines the ordinary occurances of a family who live a desirable life but are unhappy and stagnant. Kevin Spacey plays the role of Lester Burnham, a suburban father and who is tired of his boring job and family. Within the film are many themes, the most important of these being lust and beauty. The film applies many visual effects to demonstrate the overall desired tone, and helps to implicitly present a false sense of the american dream . American Beauty demonstrates a clear presentation of longing within relationships or lifestyles, and uses filming techniques to imply these hidden themes. The main theme demonstrated throughout the film is seeming, and how it relates to true nature. Each character within the film shows an awareness of the struggles seeming brings, and eventually confronts it. Carolyn is the prime example, as constantly within the film she struggles to progress within her career and attempts to be happy in doing so. This is shown in the scene where she attempts to sell a house, fails to do so, and physically abuses herself as punishment. Colonel Fitts (Ricky s father) also struggles with appearance, as he constantly tells Ricky homosexuality is disgusting, and nearing the end of the film we find Fitts is homosexual himself. This challenges his interpretation of masculinity and what he has believed his entire life. A huge element ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Keros sculptures predominantly stand out while referring to the ancient Greek scluptures and art. The Keros sculptures were carved purely out of marble and were a form of Cycladic art that was created in a small island called Cyclades in 2600 2400 B.C. The Cycladic Islands of Greece are set in the Aegean Sea. The ancient Greeks called these islands the kyklades, a scattered kyklos, or circle, of islands around the holy island and sanctuary of Apollo, Delos. The very first Keros sculpture was founded in the year 1963 by Lord Renfrew. The only unfortunate event that occurred during excavation was that almost none of these Keros sculptures were found in their complete form. Only fragments of these sculptures remained. It has been noticed, that all through history, the Keros scultpures have been incrediblly difficult to analyze and interpret due to lack of background information and it s obvious missing parts. An abudance of myths surround these sculptures since Ancient Greece is also known for its devotion to Greek mythology. The significance, use, and meaning of the figures are unclear. There is even debate about whether the figures were meant to lie flat or to stand against a wall there is no definitive evidence either way. In this essay, he discusses the ego ideal and the actual ego. The ego ideal is the representation of what one wants to become. It is the perfect, idealized version of one s self. The actual ego is the reality of that person. The ego ideal ultimately serves the pleasure principle. One of the opposing drives Freud presents is the drive for pleasure. His ideas of actual love relate to narcissism in regards to the understanding of love. In other words, love and narcissism seem to go hand in hand. The concept of narcissism was developed in part by studying psychosis and, pragmatically, narcissism explained the intractability of psychosis to psychoanalysis (Sharpless, 211). Sharpless uses Freud s theories of narcissism to not only report the facts, but to use his theories in action. Where does love come from? Where does narcissism come from? In this essay, Sharpless states the love derives from narcissism, an idea that is supported by Freud s theories. The use of Freud in this essay concerning romantic love leads to the conclusion that love comes from the unconscious. Our ego believes that it is controlling our thoughts and actions. However, it is likely that the unconscious makes the ego believe this and instead, controls what we think, say, and do without our conscious recognition. If love is connected to narcissism, Sharpless theorizes that actual love is connected to pain for the lover. Coming to a happy love and working through the impediments to reach such a state entails the gaining of self knowledge and a continual modification of one s ego to a state that is likely commensurable with the lover s (Sharpless, 223). ... It also ensures that fair trade practices are implemented. Moreover, these laws ensure that there is free flow of information in the marketplace (Cranston, 1978). Consumer protection laws are supposed to stop businesses from gaining an unfair advantage over competitors. At the same time, it protects all stakeholders from fraud that may be perpetrated by the business. Other than customers, these laws provide protection for the vulnerable consumers in society. The four consumer rights are the rights of safety, of information, of choice and the right to be heard (Bevans, 2011). Before the end of the twentieth century, consumer rights were limited. This was about customer product interaction as well as commercial producers. Consumers could not defend themselves against defective products as well as misleading advertising methods. The consumer movement began to gather momentum with greater member numbers. Things were better at the close of the 1950s whereby an aggrieved customer only had to show injury following the use of the product. This was unlike earlier times when consumers had no protection against corporate negligence. The person who drafted the Consumer Bill of Rights was Helen Ewing Nelson. The document was written during Kennedy s campaign for president where he promised to protect consumers (Howells, 2005). Consumer protection in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Transformations To Adulthood In Salinger s Catcher In The Rye That s the whole trouble. You can t ever find a place that s nice and peaceful, because there isn t any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you re not looking, somebody ll sneak up and write Fuck you right under your nose. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it ll say Holden Caulfield on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it ll say Fuck you. I m positive, in fact. (204) Holden, in Salinger s Catcher in the Rye is faced with a series of internal conflicts throughout the story. In the beginning, Holden is introduced as a very negative adolescent boy who is unwilling to face adulthood, but throughout the story Holden s character develops and the roots of his depression are revealed. It becomes clear that Holden is reluctant to growing up and the only thing that gives him any sense of hope is children. Through this, Salinger creates the question of whether or not Holden matures into adulthood by the end of the book. In the beginning, Holden is seen as a troubled 16 year old who has just failed out of Pencey Prep boarding school. Holden has the tendency to negatively criticize things, which he most famously does by labeling them as phony . He associates the term phony with things that seem artificial or shallow to him, mostly within adult society. One of the biggest reasons I left Elkton Hills was because I was surrounded by phonies. • 43. Irony in Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal Rhetorical strategies are techniques, which are used to make one s writings more effective. The choice of rhetoric strategy depends on the type of subject being discussed. The effectiveness of appropriate strategy is directly related to the mood, which is to be created and maintained. For example if someone is criticizing the government, the tome is usually kept serious and Irony and satire are widely used in such writings. On the other hand while describing the recent developments in genetic engineering, the tone would be objective and humor or satire would be ineffective here. Jonathan Swift was famous for his sarcastic remarks on the government of his days and his works are full of satire and irony which appear to be humorous but ... But I am not in the least pain upon that matter, because it is very well known that they are every day dying and rotting by cold and famine, and filth and vermin, as fast as can be reasonably expected. Swift was not the only one who applied the technique of irony to convey his message more effectively, there were several other people who from time to time have made use of satire with irony to comment on or oppose to certain views and ideas. Martin Luther King Jr. was the champion of human rights who spoke extensively for the rights of African Americans. He became an icon for the black community because of his highly emotional speeches and his writings, which focused on the subject of equal rights for black men and women in the United States. His Letters from the Birmingham jail are valued for their emotional content and their comments on his own activities. These letters cannot exactly be termed satirical or ironical in tone. In fact compared to Swift s works, King s letters would probably appear polite. But there are certain portions where he has used irony very effectively for example in his response to clergymen who had criticized King s activities, he said in his letter, While confined here in the Birmingham city jail, I came across your recent statement calling my present activities unwise and untimely. • 44. Functional Adult It is a general belief of parenting and caretaking that we must protect children from all harm and every negative circumstance no matter how naturally occurring from every scraped knee or every mean word said by classmates. Many children in America have parents that cater to their every need, give them constant attention, and fill their days with structured activity. This, of course, is not the worst thing you can do for a young child, but as they get older and the long term effects become clearer; this type of parenting can cause serious problems for their children s futures. Perhaps even keep children from growing into successful adults and functioning members of society. There comes a point in everyone s life when we no longer have our parents or caretakers to hold our hand through the trials of life, and everyone should be moderately prepared for that point. However, for the specialised hot air balloons this is not possible but the basic materials are held in inventory. (Slack Chambers. 2004) Reducing costs are an aim in every organisation and thus another reason for Cameron Balloons to hold stock. Cameron Balloons benefit from bulk buying in order to get the lowest cost possible for its materials but in return, they also have to be prepared to hold the stock for a period of time. The operations manager for Cameron Balloons decides to make infrequent large orders to reduce the number of orders made and also the associated costs to do with administration and handling costs. Hence the long production runs will help cut down production costs for the company but holding large inventories is a must for this. (Slack Chambers. 2004) Other advantages to this are that this enables Cameron Balloons to spread the costs of purchasing the materials over a large number of input units and also to purchase the materials in advance avoiding any price increases that may occur in the near future. Cameron Balloons are the leader in the hot air balloons market which is a very competitive market and has suffered from over capacity . Thus this is more of a reason for them to be efficient and vigilent on the costs and how much they compare to their competitiors. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is very rare to find two individuals who are exactly alike when referring to the way of thinking and interpreting many things. Culture is defined in many ways and can be defined differently in the workplace, in a family, or at a restaurant. As stated before, people can obtain a certain culture. Different generations may inherit the same culture, and an organization may have a certain culture they practice. If everyone tend to think the same, will there be new discoveries and theories? If everyone was the same, will there be less discrimination and judgement? These questions both emphasize the benefits of an organization that may have members who live by the same culture and disadvantages when there are various cultures in an organization. In this world today, people most likely experience these advantages and disadvantages in an organization.
