Www Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Www Essay" poses a unique challenge, as the subject itself is
quite broad and ambiguous. The term "Www Essay" suggests a connection between the World
Wide Web and the art of essay writing, requiring a delicate balance between technological
nuances and the traditional structure of an essay.
One of the primary difficulties lies in defining the scope of the essay. The World Wide Web
encompasses a vast array of topics, from its historical development to its impact on society,
information accessibility, and the evolution of communication. Narrowing down the focus while
maintaining a coherent narrative becomes a daunting task.
Furthermore, addressing the technical aspects of the World Wide Web introduces a layer of
complexity. The intricate web of protocols, programming languages, and the dynamic nature of
the internet adds a challenge for writers to strike a balance between depth of information and
readability for a diverse audience.
The dynamic nature of the internet also presents a challenge in keeping the content relevant.
Rapid changes in technology, trends, and online culture require constant updates and a vigilant
eye to ensure the information presented remains accurate and up-to-date.
Moreover, striking a balance between the technical aspects and the broader societal implications
of the World Wide Web can be challenging. Addressing the impact of the internet on
communication, education, business, and culture requires a nuanced understanding of both
technological and human elements.

British Control Over The Suez Canal
In 1882, Great Britain took over Egypt through military invasions, making it a
protectorate in order to have control over the Suez Canal. The Suez Canal connected
the British Empire in the west to India in the east, making it significant trade route
for Britain to control. During the Cold War, Egypt became an area of great tension,
challenging British control over the canal. There was an increase of nationalism,
along with the rise of Gamal Abdel Nasserto power. His rise to power lead to the Suez
CanalCrisis and Egypts independence from Britain in 1956. The Arab Spring began
in Tunisia in December, 2010, eventually spreading to Egypt in 2011. British control
over parts of Africa during the nineteenth century lead to many crises in the 20th and
21st centuries, including the Suez Canal Crisis and the Arab Spring in Egypt. The
Cold War began soon after the Second World War ended, starting in 1947 and ending
in 1991. The United States and the Soviet Union competed for nuclear superiority,
beginning a nuclear arms race. Most other countries were in debt because of the war,
so the US and the USSR became superpowers that other countries became allies with
(Kte pi, par. 4). The American side was called the North Atlantic Treaty Organization,
or NATO, and consisted of Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy,
Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, and the United Kingdom (Kte pi,
par. 9). Albania, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Soviet
Causes Of Airplane Accidents
Whether people travel for business, vacation, or simply for pleasure, they must
decide on what mode of transportation to take. Sometimes, they decide that the best
form of transportation is to take a plane, and each time they enter it, they are
placing their lives in the hands of a company, air traffic controller, and most
importantly, the flight crew. Although airplanes are the most convenient and
quickest means of transportation, accidents occur due to the failure of one of
these three components. Statistically, the odds of being in an airplane accident are
1 in 7,178 compared to the 1 in 98 involving cars showing that airplanes are a safer
type of transportation (5 Most Common Causes of Airplane Accidents). If for some
reason there is an accident, a spectrum of people are facing the repercussions due to
it and should consider these before deciding on taking a flight. Airplane accidents
are a horrific tragedy that affect a variety of individuals including the airline, the
manufacturer of the airplane, and the families. In the event of an accident, the airline
is the earliest involved, and will be held accountable due to various factors that
contribute to the airlines negligence. One prevalent factor is security failure in
which a terrorist enters the plane before departure. In order to prepare for a terrorist
attack, mock trials have been conducted at the busiest airports by undercover
investigators. They found that they were able to smuggle mock explosives and
Southern Culture And The Circumstances Of The War
Southern culture and the circumstances of the war fostered an environment where
military officials who could distinguish themselves, especially those with values that
most coincided with the ideal southern man, were set up to become the mythologized
figures that would eventually become central to southern history. Jackson and Lee,
through their own skill sets and actions during the war, solidified their respective
legacies as a martyr and a leader. In 1861, Jackson was promoted as brigadier general
in the Army of Northern Virginia, where he began to distinguish himself in the
following battles. He gained Lee s trust and as a result, held a fair amount of control
over command (Fredriksen). Jackson gained most of his fame during the Shenandoah
Valley Campaign of 1862, where he employed his signature tactic of hard, forced
marches that attempted to outwit the Union ( Robert E. Lee). Jackson s strategy was
to Always mystify, mislead, and surprise the enemy, if possible ( Stonewall Jackson).
He believed that despite having smaller numbers, the Confederacy could defeat the
Union in battle if they act aggressive and communicate well ( Shenandoah Valley
Campaign ). These tactics promoted him as the most well regarded military general
during the war. In the eyes of many southerners, he was their best hope of succeeding
in battle, and his death at Chancellorsville in 1863 deeply hurt the morale of the
Confederacy (Fredriksen). Lee, who was initially offered control of the Union
Japan s Culture And Its Unique Geography Essay
Japan s culture began with its unique geography as an island that is separated and
isolated from other East Asian countries. While there are many theories about modern
s Japanese ancestor; however, most Japanese archaeologists believe the first people
that lived and colonized in Japan was the Ainu. The combined evidence of
archeology, anthropology, and genetics have shown the indistinctive look between
Ainu and the modern Japanese. In their overall genetic makeup, the Ainu are related
to other East Asians, include Japanese and Koreans. The distinctive appearance and
hunter lifestyle of the Ainu, and the indistinctive appearance and the intensive
agricultural lifestyle of the Japanese have suggested that the Ainu are descended from
Japan s original hunter gatherer inhabitants (Diamond). Japan independence includes
three main dates. The most important and current constitution adopted as
amendment to Meiji Constitution date was 3 May 1947. Other notable earlier dates
include 660 B.C., traditional date of the founding of the nation by Emperor JIMMU
and 29 November 1890, date in which Meiji Constitution provides for constitutional
monarchy (Japan). The most important and major revolution in Japan s history was
the Meiji Revolution, a chain of events that restored practical imperial rule to Japan
in 1868 under Emperor Meiji. The Restoration led to enormous changes in Japan s
political and social structure. The period spanned from 1868 to 1912 and was
responsible for the
Dual Tasking And Cognitive Tasks
Dual tasking is the simultaneous execution of two tasks, (McArdle, 2015) these tasks
include two elementary cognitive tasks (ECT), or secondary tasks. ECTs are basic
tasks which require a small number of mental processes (Caroll, 1993.) Dual tasking
is the combination of two ECTs. Main cognitive functions, utilised in ECTs, are
affected during the process of dual tasking specifically in executive function and
attention. Executive function includes complex mental processes such as: problem
solving, planning and dual tasking as shown in a study by Zelazo (2002.) Attention
includes mental processes such as the ability to concentrate on people; actions,
objects and restraint from impulsive actions. This cognitive function, along with
executive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This refers to focusing on one task until it is completed, rather than sharing attention
to another task and simultaneously trying to complete both (Jayne, 2006.) Patients
inflicted with PD, which are subject to dual task conditions, are seen with an
increase in festinating steps and a worsened state of bradykinesia. In other words;
an increased amount of shuffling steps and a slower pace of gait (Brauer, et al.
2011.) Furthermore, patients with the disorder whilst dual tasking demonstrate:
increased variability in step length and width, leading to asymmetry in gait, and
frequent motor blocks compared to walking alone (Yogev, Plotnik, Peretz, Giladi,
Hausdorff, 2007; Spildooren, et al. 2010; Bloem, Valkenburg, Slabbekoorn, Dijk,
2001.) Therefore, it can be argued that gait present in PD worsens once a patient is
subject to dual tasking
The Behavioural Inattention Test ( Conventional ; Bitc )
The Behavioural Inattention Test (Conventional; BITC) is a battery of six tests
which include the following: line crossing (also known as Albert s Test), letter
cancellation, star cancellation, copying, line bisection, and representational
drawing (i.e. clock drawing task; Wilson, Cockburn, Halligan, 1987). Each test and
any subtests within the battery will be tabulated in greater detail below. It is
important to note that many ADHOC versions of these tests are available online
and can also be freely drawn by a clinician; however, the tests shown here are the
originals. It is always advisable to administer the original tests if they are available
at the time as it will mean more reliable and valid scoring. Cancellation Tests The
main purpose of cancellation tasks are to assess for deficits in visual scanning and
visual neglect (such as unilateral spatial neglect [USN]; Wilson et al., 1987). The
table below will outline the different types of cancellation (Cx) tasks and what they
assess. These tests in particular are not used to formally diagnose deficits in visual
neglect or scanning, but they do act as an initial screening tool and can help in
identifying difficulties surrounding certain aspects of the patient s visuospatial
abilities. By using these screening tools, it provides the clinician with an indication of
what needs to be further investigated by more formal tests and/or neuroimaging
(Halligan, Cockburn, Wilson, 1991). Star CxLetter Cx:Line
Corporate Cost, Human Resource Management Cost
As corporate cost is the cost associate with Treasury cost, Human resource
management cost. Acitivity based costing seeks to identify cost drivers that are
directly link all the activities e.g. support activities and production activities to the
product manufactured or service provided. The cost of all those activities are
assigned to products or services via the activity costdriver, according to the each
product relative consumption of these activities. Allocating corporate overheads
based on the use of volume related cost driver alone can produce the misleading cost
information such as inappropriate allocation can lead to faulty conclusions about the
relative product profitability.
Whether corporate costs should be allocated to individual divisions when an
business has more than one division that depends on whether the corporate costs are
incurred primarily to support divisions business activities and whether the allocation
can be reliably determined. For example, if the divisional companies are not closely
related to the corporate costs and similarly the corporate costs are not necessarily
incurred to facilitate the operation of each division then arguably the corporate costs
should not be allocated to divisions.
The allocation division also depends on the nature and type of the business, the
purpose of the corporate costs allocation process and how divisions are divided. For
example, if the change of corporate cost is in proportionate with the increase or
decrease of
Milton Friedman Capitalism And Freedom Analysis
Milton Friedman in his book, Capitalism and Freedom, analysis the relationship
between two very important aspects of a society, capitalism and freedom. Throughout
the book Friedman talks about complex issues that stem from from capitalism and
freedom. In chapter seven, Friedman focuses the discussion of discrimination and
how that plays a role in society as a whole. In the beginning of the chapter, Friedman
explains the difference between a lack of discrimination in the workplace and
discrimination in the workplace. Friedman blames discrimination in the workplace on
the government, and specifies the laws that are put into place that had a major effect
the future of all American citizens. As Friedman starts to speculate certain laws put
into... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case discrimination has a effect of the labor force and depending on the
color of one s skin, which can create problems as Friedman points out. As a result
there is a long history of discrimination in the workplace. The problem is that the
employer was not given a choice with whom they hired. Friedman s main point is
that people must have a choice in who they hire for the better of the business. What
this case is more of an attempt of integration, this decision not only upsets the
consumers but you make the employee a victim. Another example of this happens
shortly after the repeal of Jim Crow laws, and new laws promoting integration had a
negative effect. When African Americans got placed into predominantly Caucasian
school, the rest of the students refused to attend school. They were so set in their
beliefs that it turned out to be more of a problem and the African Americanchildren
ended up suffering the most because of it. It is admirable by the government to
attempt to promote integration, however it can lead to more problems as a result as
Friedman points
Key Imperatives Of Blue Ocean Strategy
To what extent did the growth strategy of the HKET Group follow the key
imperatives of a Blue Ocean Strategy? Explain and use examples from the case to
illustrate your points.
To answer this question, first of all we need to know what is Blue Ocean Strategy,
how it works and what are the main points.
Blue Ocean Strategy what is it?
Blue oceans are uncontested market spaces where the competition is irrelevant... you
invent and capture new demand, and you offer customers a leap in value while also
streamlining your cost. Results? Handsome profits, speedy growth and brand equity
that lasts for decades while rivals scramble to catch up (Mauborgne, 2007).

How was the growth strategy of the Hong Kong Economic Times Group?
In 1980s when the co founders path crossed, Hong Kong`s economy was booming
and opportunities for all trades and businesses were prevalent. The colony was a
magnet for international trade and manufacturing. Real gross domestic product
(GDP) growth throughout the 1980s averaged 5.20%. It was an opportune time for
new businesses, and the HKET Group rode this wave of development (Farhoomand,
2007).
Create and capture new demand
HKET Group published their first paper in January 1988. At this time, their mission
was to provide businessmen, executives, investors and professionals with up to date
and relevant news, market information as well as analysis. Their only competitor at
the time of launch was Hong Kong Economic Journal, which focused in economic
and related news, and was noted for its editorials and commentaries.
HKET Group was more than that, they placed their product in a niche to offer
business and financial information to the growing masses of employees in the
manufacturing, business and commercial
Mr Quiring In The Novel Analysis
All appearances of characters in novels have their different roles developed, even if
they are minor. Mr. Quiring in the novel, a complicated kindness, is no exception to
this convention. Although Mr. Quiring rarely appears in the novel, he plays a crucial
role in making the readers understand more about the protagonist, Naomi.
Mr. Quiring s knowledge and behavior has an impact on the protagonist, Naomi.
Mr. Quiring is described as an English teacher who always prepares carefully before
his classes. The readers can perceive this through the observation of his student,
Naomi, who recognizes that he practices what he plans to do in class, noting that
every story must have a beginning, middle, and end (Toews 243). Moreover, due to
his vast knowledge, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Quiring in a complicated kindness is guiding Naomi to stop her internal struggle. The
essay which Mr Quiring gave to Naomi is a metaphor of her problem, with which she
is struggling to find its ending. According to Heath, the whole novel is an assignment
that she had difficulty in what to write, especially in its ending (223). In the
beginning of the novel, she got problem with ending, he helped Naomi
acknowledged how to come up with the ending that is quite out of the writer s
control, which people just know when it happens (Toews 1). Moreover, the author
also let Mr. Quiring assist Naomi to solve her ending in her real life. It can be
explained when she takes time to stuck in the way to finish her schoolwork, to say
goodbye to her town, and especially to live in her way, Mr. Quiring tries to guide
her to find the answer by asking her to imagine what will happen when she closes
her eyes. In other words, he lets her draw her dream future her ending she desires.
Finishing the ending of her essay simultaneously opened her endings for her family.
That is a reason why she said Mr Quiring provided her family with ending (Toews,
243). Therefore, providing Naomi s ending is one of the most indispensable role of

Children Should Keep Their Innocence
Children should have love, joy, and compassion. Most of all children should keep
their innocence in this cruel world, quoted anonymously. Karen Sanchez, a
volunteer manager who has a passion for children and a love to help them in any
possible way she could. Her role at the children s shelter is to assign individuals

The Practice Of Paying Bonus
The practice of paying bonus in India appears to have originated during First World
War when certain textile mills granted 10% of wages as war bonus to their
workers in 1917. In certain cases of industrial disputes demand for payment of
bonus was also included. In 1950, the Full Bench of the Labour Appellate evolved a
formula for determination of bonus. A plea was made to raise that formula in 1959.
At the second and third meetings of the Eighteenth Session of Standing Labour
Committee (G. O.I.) held in New Delhi in March/April 1960, it was agreed that a
Commission be appointed to go into the question of bonus and evolve suitable norms.
A Tripartite Commission was set up by the Governmentof India to consider in a
comprehensive manner, the question of payment of bonus based on profits to
employees employed in establishments and to make recommendations to the
Government. The Government of Indiaaccepted the recommendations of the
Commission subject to certain modifications. To implement these recommendations
the Payment of Bonus Ordinance, 1965 was promulgated on 29th May, 1965. To
replace the said Ordinance the Payment of Bonus Bill was introduced in the
Parliament.
Statement of Objective and Reasons
A Tripartite Commission was set by the Government of India by their resolution

Consequences Of Change In Tuesdays With Morrie
How has your understanding of the consequences of change been shaped by the
techniques used in Tuesdays with Morrie ( TWM):
The film Tuesdays with Morrie ( TWM) has shaped my understanding of the
consequences of change through the main themes of change in perspective, change in
relationship power dynamics, Mitch s increased commitment and the ripple effect
that change causes.
The representation of mitch s perspective throughout Tuesdays with Morrie, has
shifted my understanding of the consequences of change through the importance of
various relationships Mitch has developed and the importance of an alternative
perspective to initiate self improvement. The film Tuesdays with Morrie speculates
the change of the protagonist Mitch Albom, and the process of how that change
was achieved. The genesis of the film shows Mitch to have a very overloaded
lifestyle, this is shown in the basketball scene when we are first introduced to
Mitch. In this scene Mitch is shown multitasking many different tasks at once, this
is emphasized by the non diegetic sound in the movie; which is very fast past and
cluttered. Another film technique that shows Mitch s hectic lifestyle is the quick
jump cuts in the early scenes, these quick changes in footage may provoke the
audience to feel overwhelmed; causing them to empathize with the protagonist. As
the movie progresses Mitch is affected by the lessons that Morrie is giving him
about life; Morrie is teaching Mitch about all the things that he previously was
afraid of in life. An example of this is when Morrie teaches Mitch about silence,
Morrie states what is it about the silence that makes people so uneasy? Why do
people only feel comfortable when they are filling the air with words? when
Morrie states this it is evident that it has an impact on Mitch by his body language
in the scene and also the extreme close ups of Mitch and Morrie s facial
expressions as the conversation progresses. The change in Mitch is not immediately
evident but it is shown when Mitch states Why are we embarrassed by silence?
What comfort do we find in all the noise? this statement shows Mitch s changing
perspectives towards everyday aspects of life. The techniques that are used in
Tuesdays with Morrie
The Worst Hard Time Essay
One theory in Jared Diamond s Collapse is that soil degradation and erosion leads
to insufficient agriculture and a society s demise. In Timothy Egan s The Worst
Hard Time, he sets forth in specific and excruciating detail exactly what Diamond
outlines in Collapse. Only Egan s book isn t theoretical. It isn t a survey of what s
happened in other countries. It s about the Dust Bowlin the 1930s. It s about what
happens, right here in the heart of America, when the land is misused, mistreated, and
turns on those who depend on it.
Centered in the panhandle of Oklahoma and extending south into the panhandle of
Texas, north into half of Kansas and a quadrant of Colorado, the Dust Bowl despoiled
100 million acres. For thousands of years this ... Show more content on

As long as the weave of grass was stitched to the land, the prairie would flourish in
dry years and wet. The grass could look brown and dead, but beneath the surface,
the roots held the soil in place; it was alive and dormant. The short grass, buffalo
and blue grama, had evolved as the perfect fit for the sandy loam of the arid zone.
It could hold moisture a foot or more below ground level even during summer
droughts, when hot winds robbed the surface of all water bearing life. In turn, the
grass nurtured pin tailed grouse, prairie chickens, cranes, jackrabbits, snakes, and
other creatures that got their water from foraging on the native turf.Through the
driest years, the web of life held. When a farmer tore out the sod and then walked
away, leaving the land naked, however, that barren patch posed a threat to neighbors.
It could not revert to grass, because the roots were gone. It was empty, dead, and

The Most Famous And Richest Men Essay
Schlosser explains about one of the most famous and richest men, J.R. Simplot,
who was born in 1909 in Idaho and grew up farming, helping and working with his
family. He dropped out of high school at the age of fifteen and decided to leave
home. When he left home, he soon found work in a potato house. He then became
a potato farmer who worked for Lindsay Maggart who was the landlord and was
quite good at what he does. He was buying and selling potatoes and he even
became one of the leading transporters of potatoes in the West. He was selling
potatoes from left to right. Simplot even bought a machine, an electric potato
sorter. The machine was purchased by him and Maggart. When they decide to part
ways in their business, hey flipped a coin to see who would have to keep it and it
was him. Luck was definitely on his side. Simplot was making a lot of selling
potatoes and during the World War II; he sold dried onions and dried potatoes to
the American military during the time. Simplot who a smart man, who even started
to invest in freezing food and began selling frozen fries to the company McDonalds.
Since the taste was similar to the fresh cut fries in stores and also cheaper. McDonald
s very own Ray Kroc was amazed by it. Nowadays French friesare very popular.
Today there are three potato companies Simplot, Lamb Weston, and McCain that
controls about 80% of the American Frozen French fries. Even though there are much
smaller independent potato growers, they have a harder

In 1994, an 18 year old kid from Miami named Alex Rodriguez broke into spring
camp with the Seattle Mariners in an attempt to make the team. After almost
immediately stepping into a Major League baseball field he became a household
name. Within two years, he was an All Star. Within five, a regular 40 homer player.
By the turn of the century, many were already putting him into the Hall of Fame
discussion.
On August 12, 2016, Rodriguez played what will be his final game as a New York
Yankee after an incredible 12 years in New York. Considering the 41 year old s lack
of playing time and declining production after a resurgent effort in 2015, this may

to learn it, play it, teach it, coach it. And also, I m going to be hopefully remembered
as someone who tripped and fell a lot, but someone that kept getting up.
Rodriguez has led a very controversial 22 year baseball career. His lowest moment

Baseball history.

Inventory Control And Its Effect On The Performance Of
The...
An inventory management system, inventory control, and inventory accuracy are
paramount to a mass production manufacturing facility, especially when multiple part
types and multiple product types are being produced. Raw component inventory can
account for millions of dollars of an organizations cash, which is not contributing to
profitability until converted to a product and sold. Therefore, it is essential for an
organization to have an inventorymanagement system and an inventory control
process to account for the value associated with each part and ultimately to return
value to the operation.
Inventory inaccuracy can negatively impact the performance of the production
control system (Chan Wang, 2014). It is difficult to account for raw materials at
every stage of the manufacturing process with complete accuracy, thus, an error
between the actual inventory level and the supply chain management systems record
of inventories cannot be completely avoided. However, when an inaccuracy exists in
the raw materials inventory it creates a negative effect on the material requirement
planning (MRP) systems. The inaccuracy of the material requirement planning
systems has a negative impact on the performance of production planning and
scheduling, which contributes to a less than optimal production output, potentially
disappointing customers with lack of manufactured goods.
A traditional inventory management system assumes that the raw material stock in
the organizations
The Importance Of Academic Delinquency
For several years, a steady thread within the juvenile justice literature has addressed
low academic attainment (Cottle, Lee, Heilbrun, 2001): educational failure, faculty
disciplinary exclusion, and dropout predict teens delinquency and crime; educational
achievement is a buffer for juvenile crime(Foley, 2001). even though results related to
high faculty dropout encompass increased rates of unemployment, substance abuse,
and criminal pastime, only 15% of kids served by means of the juvenile justice
system graduate with a high school degree (Stanard, 2003). Conversely, academic
attainment is critical for eventual gainful employment, task pride, more social capital
(Andres Grayson, 2003), and decrease recidivism (Zgoba, Haugebrook, Jenkins,
2008). the overall trouble of low educational achievement has many reasons, amongst
that s the failure to understand when a adolescents should qualify for special
education status.
Low success and its connection to special training status isn t completely
understood. A steady concern in JJ settings, special training popularity isn t always
a dependable indicator of delinquency. The unique schooling rate for JJ
populations, about 35% (Kvarfordt, Purcell, Shannon, 2005), is well above the
approximate 13% countrywide rate of special schooling service delivery in public
faculties (countrywide center for education statistics, 2010). while the average age
of the adjudicated adolescents is 15 years (about 9th 10th grade), the common
studying level is 4th grade or decrease (Vacca, 2008). educational skill level, and
who does no longer qualify for or obtain appropriate special training offerings, can be
more crucial school primarily based indicators of delinquency threat than special
education status.
But, the individual student isn t the only subject; faculty environments with excessive
retention, low attendance, useless behavioral control, low instructor educational

Want Something Even Better than Bulletproof Coffee? Try Titanium Tea
If you haven t heard of Bulletproof Coffee, you owe it to yourself to try it. The now
famous concoction is coffee whipped with butter to make a delicious frothy drink
loaded with caffeine for stimulation and healthy animal fats for enhanced brain
function. If buttered coffee doesn t sound like your thing, however, then this new tea
recipe is just as good and possibly even better.
Tim Ferriss, author and blogger, came up with a drink he nicknamed Titanium Tea
(a tongue in cheek reference to Bulletproof Coffee) while filming an episode of his
recent TV show, The Tim Ferriss Experiment. The mixture is a combo of green and
black tea leaves with fats, oils, and herbs added to the drink for the purpose of energy
and stimulation, much like the effective caffeine and fat mixture in Bulletproof

The final benefit of Titanium Tea is that the stimulants found in this mixture prevent

While not serious, these headaches are still annoying and unpleasant. The

Summary Of Me Talk Pretty One Day
My thoughts of Me Talk Pretty One Day
In Me Talk Pretty One Day an essay written by David Sedaris, the author shares his
moving to France and returning to school as an adult. The essay is informal and
written in everyday language. The writer s purpose is to inspire anyone, who
encounter any obstacles that they may combat in life. However, the author s tone
reveals the attitude he has toward life, by illustrates the fear he faces of returning to
school and the challenges he faces, his fear of failure, and overcoming his fear.
The first dilemma that Sedaris faces is experience of moving to France. Even
though he is concern about his move to a foreign country, he did not allow the fear
to overtake. Sedaris began the story with the statement of him learning to speak
French in France. Here is a perfect example, some people believe this fact to be true.
They think that if they surround themselves by people that only speak the language
will be forced to engage in conservations. By speaking the language daily, one would
become fluent in speaking the language.
Sedaris continues with his experiences being uncomfortable around the other
younger students. He also tells the reader regardless of their nationalities, the
younger students seem to speak be speaking French. One feel out of place because
of the age gap. Especially when one has no idea what people are saying. One could
become paranoid, what are they saying are they talking about me. One can image

Padraig Harrington Research Paper
Padraig Harrington was born on August 31, 1971, in Dublin, Ireland. Padraig was
raised in a pretty wealthy family with his parents and his four siblings, his brothers
Tadhg, Feargal, Fintan, and Columb. Padraig s father was involved in building a golf
course in South Country Dublin called Stackstown. Padraig loved to practice on the
golfcourse with his two brothers, his uncle, and his father all playing off 5
handicaps, and the Stackstown soon became a second home to Padraig. Padraig
went to school in Ballyroan Boy s National School and then to Colaiste Eanna
Secondary School. He played his first amateur tournament in 1987, the Connaught
Boy s Championship. He got to the finals, but was beaten on the 22nd after losing a
golf ball.
Harrington s career started at age 15 when he played his first golf tournament, but
he had started playing golf at age 5. Padraig chose this career because he fell in
love with the sport, he liked calculating and rerunning his thoughts on how he was
going to hit his golf ball to land closer to the putt hole. He also had to pay attention
to where and how fast the direction of the wind was headed to make his swing more
accurate. Padraig s love for golf has helped not only himself, but scientists calculate

Steel Industry Essay examples
1. Using the information contained in the case, conduct a five forces analysis of the
U.S. Steel industry. What conclusion can you draw from this?
Degree of Rivalry: Mini mills were being used by the foreign competition which
mean they were able to produce steel at less expensive rates passing that on ot their
customers.
Barriers to entry: Starting in the 1970 s since there were no trade barriers companies
overseas were able to manufacture and sell steel for a much lower price here in the
United States therefore affecting companies domestically.
Supplier power: Once steel became needed again suppliers were able to multiply
what they charged consumers and were able to produce large qantities at a time in
order to stay up with demand. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The level of the competition does vary thuogh because mini mills are able to produce
steel less expensively yet they are not able to produce in large quantities as the bigger
established steel companies. Each company needs to look at how they can improve
within themselves, the economy and against the competition.
3. Given the nature of competition in the U.S. steel industry, what must a steel maker
focus on in order to be proftable?
The U.S. steel industry would have to focus on technology. It should also focus on
the larger global scale in order to stay up with competition domestically and
internationally. If this does not happen then the United States will not be able to stay
ahead of the competition and many companies will once again go bankrupt.
4. How is the competitive strategy of the steel industry currently being affected by the
seven macro environmental forces?
It is currently being affected economically, technologically and legally. With the
economy being as low as it has and going through a recession many industries have
not been able to stay open. They have needed to cut back on expenses such as
supplies and employee costs. With new laws constantly passing they need to make
sure they are up to date with minimum wage and tax laws. It all factors in to whether
or not a business can stay open and make a profit at the same time.

Figurative Language In Esperanza Rising
In the novel, Esperanza Rising the author, Pam Munoz Ryan, masterfully uses
figurative language to convey the rich story of her own heritage as a Mexican
American. The author uses several similes and metaphors to convey the deeper
meaning of her story. However, the author s use of a blanket image becomes
particularly important as she uses it as an extended metaphor throughout the story.
The first time that blankets are brought into the story, grandmother teaches
Esperanza to crochet and she says that her love and good wishes will be in the
blanket forever. Later, Abuelita compares the stitches in the blanket to mountains

Life Is A Matter Of Life
The concept of life itself is quite simple. Biologically the purpose of life is far less
open to interpretation, remaining in the general area of keep living and reproduce
so to keep life going. However, it is when people try to add significance and value to
life that things become convoluted. Why is that? Because one may say that the value
of life is one thing, then another may say something else. But which one is right?
Both and neither to put it simply. In that there is neither a wrong nor right way to
view life; for it is all a matter of perspective. However, it brings up the question: if
the value/ significance of life is a matter of perspective that an individual must
interpret and give, could it be that there is no true value/ significance to life? To
answer the question bluntly no, there is no true value of life, but there are
different ways to view life, may it be positive or negative. With those views being
influenced by the experiences one has gone through. There is nothing that is quite
as rare in the universe like life. It is only known to exist on one plant out of about
200 billion. Although life is considerably rare in the vast scale of things, people tend
not to place much value on life itself. However, value is placed on the things that
come with life, for instance knowledge and what that knowledge can get them. An
investment in knowledge always pays the best interest. (Franklin The Way to Wealth:

Black Death Theory
The Black Death, which swept the continent of Europe in the mid 1300 s, was an
extreme epidemic which was an eye opener for extreme illnesses and plagues. The
plague had a lot of harmful effects on the people and continent of Europe. The Black
Death was a powerful, murderous, and rampant disease.
The epidemic, commonly known today as the Black Death , began in the mid
fourteenth century. There are many theories with evidence as to how the illness
spread to different areas in different ways. One of these theories was that in 1347,
the first confirmation of the plague occurred on the island of Sicily off the Italian
coast. Another theory of the plague s begin and origin is that in 1346 in the
European, Black Sea coastal city of Caffa, crew members from a recently docked
ship were all ill from the plague. There is even another theory that the plague
started affecting the southern region of Europe in 1348 due to trade routes from the
middle east to Europe. At the start of the disease outbreak, the origins and spread of
the disease were unknown. It was later discovered that fleas and rats were the main
carriers of Pasteurella pestis. ( Bubonic Plague World of Biology) Pasteurella pestis is

Early symptoms of the disease came in the chronological order of headaches, fevers,
chills, nausea, then pain. Following symptoms included red patches on external
parts of the body. Mass swelling from underarm and groin lymph nodes resulted in

then turn into gory, black patches. These patches were filled with blood and would
exude pus. Typically, death followed these symptoms shortly after their first
appearance. (McCabe, Suzanne. Dark death: In 1347, a terrible plague brought death

Essay about Insomnia
Insomnia
How many times during the night do we toss and turn, check the clock, and find it
ticking away and tell ourselves, quot;If I could fall asleep right now I would get at
least five hours of sleep quot;? But, sleep doesn t come so we continue to toss and
turn. This happens to many people and may suffer from a disorder known as
insomnia. People who suffer from this disorder have many complaints, and many
have similar symptoms. Symptoms can vary from stress to pain to always feeling
tired. Insomnia is a very difficult disease to have to live with. It is hard for both
those that suffer from it and their family members.

normal sleep cycle. To better understand this cycle of sleep scientists have used an
electroencephalogram to measure brain waves during sleep. A normal sleep cycle
consists of five distinct stages with paradoxical, or REM stage being the final stage.
REM sleep is what is commonly known as deep sleep.
There are many other causes of Insomnia such as the many environmental causes said
by Ernest Hartmann s The Sleeping Pill (1978). Hartmann states, quot;any loud noise
or sounds that can irritate or aggravate can disrupt a persons sleep quot; (p. 116).
When trying to sleep, the littlest things can bother someone s sleep whether hearing
the bathroom water faucet dripping or even the heater coming on during the night.
All these things can keep a person up all night when they are suffering from insomnia.
He also claims, quot;there is a condition sometimes called habit insomnia quot; (p.
116). Habit insomnia is when something caused the insomnia in the past so when the
sufferer associates it into habit. For example, when the see the bed that they have
difficulty sleeping on, they condition themselves to think that they can t sleep
because of the bed, therefore they don t sleep.
In Mendelson s Human Sleep and It s Disorders, (1977) Incidence of insomnia was

The Pros And Cons Of Renewable Energy
What is a renewable energy and what is the scope of green or renewable energy in
Canada?
Renewable energy is energy generated from natural sources such as sunlight, wind,
rain, tides and geothermal heat. Nowadays, developed countries such as U.S.A,
Australia and other more countries are giving preference to renewable energy because
it helps us to reduce the pollution problem. Canada is also showing their interest in
the renewable energy sources and it has dramatic growth in renewable energy sector.
Graph source ( https://www.desmog.ca/2013/03/27/report canada could be green

As we can see from graph, in the 1926 Canada just produce 2000 kilowatt energy
from renewable energy sources but in the middle of the graph it reached to 6000
and in 2006 its on the peak. Canada has more green energy than its consumption so
they can sale their energy to another country such as America. A recent report of
Renewable and Electrical Energy Division (REED) shows that, Canada could be the
biggest green energy in the world if it does properly develop and Canadian
government provide the subsidies for renewable energy sources.
What are the positive or negative effects on Canadian s energy industry?
A current report, co created by Fraser Institute energy financial expert Gerry
Angevine, found that Ontario residents will pay a normal of $285 million more for
power every year for the following 20 years because of subsidies to sustainable power

Dances With Wolves by Michael Blake is a novel that covers the topics of cross

Reading this novel is a great adventure to me. Through years of getting ready,
Michael Blake spent nine months on writing the book and got it done in 1981. The
story happens in 1863, when US civil war was in ongoing. Knowing the potential

Pros And Cons Of Euthanasia And DNR
Euthanasia and DNR (do not resuscitate), give the patients the right to decide if they
would rather live or die. However, many people do not agree with euthanasia because
they feel that they are committing suicide and is violating human norms, but they

patient can or could been saved but they decided not to be saved is that the same as
committing suicide or is it just their naturally born rights? Euthanasiain Oregon,

The Role Of Bilingualism In Diglossia
As per the study of Gumperz (1962), the aspect of diglossia generally refers to the
process of switching between two different languages or two different forms of
languages in various situations. The concept of Diglossia was first developed by
Charles A. Ferguson in 1959 with an aim to properly describe the situation of code
switching that existed in Arab speaking countries where the influence of English
language is gaining popularity along with the local Arab language. The aspect of
Bilingual Code Switching basically refers to the process of speaking two different
languages in a single conversation. This rise in code switching between languages
has been on the rise due to the significant change and development in the culture of
the society. The element of migration of people from one country to another can also
be recognised as one of the primary reasons behind the use of bilingual languages
within a conversation (Ferguson, 1971).
Grosjean (1985) stated that in the process of analysing the communication
perspective of bilingual, it can be assumed that speaker can specifically implement

have the facial expression that is right for the character they are portraying. The

Transatlantic Declaration, New Transatlantic Agenda, And...
The United States has formally maintained diplomatic relations with the European
community since 1947 when the US and many European states were founding signers
of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). The agreement was designed
to provide an international forum that encouraged free trade between member states
by regulating and reducing tariffs on traded goods and by providing a common
mechanism for resolving trade disputes. The WTO replaced GATT as the
organization overseeing the multilateral trading system in 1994, and now consists of
144 member states. There are three recent landmarks observed by the European
Commission: the Transatlantic Declaration, New Transatlantic Agenda, and the
Transatlantic Economic Partnership. In 1990 the Transatlantic Declaration was
adopted, laying down the principles for greater EU/US consultation and cooperation
in the fields of economy, education, science, and culture. In 1995 the New
Transatlantic Agenda (NTA) and the EU/US Joint Action Plan were adopted,
providing a framework for partnership under four platforms: promoting peace,
stability, democracy and development around the world; responding to changes;
contributing to the expansion of world trade and fostering closer ties; building
bridges across the Atlantic Ocean. The Transatlantic Economic Partnership (TEP) was
formed in 1998 to tackle technical barriers to trade and stimulate multilateral
liberalization. This is to be done by integrating labor, business,

Albeit differing on the method to use, both longed for humankind s evolution into
another realm, into godhood itself. The discovery of the tombs of the gods below the
city had started an evolutionary movement within the academy. Their theory was that
ancient beings inhabited the city of Yharnam beforehand and had managed to make
contact with greater beings called the Great Ones . Great Ones were worshipped as
Gods and used to communicate with the Pthumerians, the ancient inhabitants of the
city of Yharnam. That communication with the Great Ones allowed the Pthumerians
to ascend to a new level of existence, enhancing their physical abilities and allowing
them to use powers akin to magic, arcane powers. Furthermore, an average
Pthumerian could live longer than humans by a long stretch. Evidence of that was
provided when scholars encountered few of them during their numerous tomb
excavations. Pthumerians have become only shells, serving to guard the tombs where
the gods are buried. Killing one of them takes immense power and reflexes. Many
scholars had lost their lives going into the tomb where the first Pthumerian was

Research methods and outcomes for Australian Indigenous preterm births
Introduction:
It is the responsibility of Health Care Practitioners to stay abreast of the latest
research, while enhancing research skills, ensuring the most current evidence based
information guaranteeing the highest level of care.
This paper will explore the development of research techniques and the tools
available to establish the factors that increase the risk of preterm birth amongst the
Indigenous women of Australia, with a particular focus in rural areas.
1. Throughout the Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Queensland, several
databases provide the most current research in clinical practice; these include
CINAHL and Medline. These databases contain specifically chosen research to
ensure the more relevant studies are more accessible, rather than the random selection
by robots through Google and/or Google Scholar.
To address the topic of this assessment, I began my search for two peer reviewed
journal articles using CINAHL, including limiting the dates to 2011 2016, peer
reviewed and key words such as;
risk factors or causes and preterm birth or premature birth or premature infant and
Australian Aboriginal* or Australian Indigenous or Torres Strait Islander*
Unfortunately, this search did not produce any results, I then extended my search to
include the Medline database which produced three articles, one of which did not
appear to address the issues of preterm birth in
Essay about Appalachia Culture
Many people have different views on what Appalachia is, I grew up thinking that
Appalachia meant people were dirty, poor, illiterate, inbreed and we also called them
mountain people. As I grew up I realized that most of the things they went through
and had a hard time with, I was dealing with the same problems. So what exactly is
Appalachia? Well you will find out as you read on.
Appalachia is no longer the land of severe poverty that it was three decades ago, now
the poverty rate of one in 15 is close to the national average. The number of adults
who have received a high school diploma has also jumped from one out of three to
two out of three; and the infant death rate has been ... Show more content on

Coal became the fuel that fired the furnaces of the nation, transforming the
Appalachian region socially and economically. Unfortunately mountain people didn t
realize the implications of their mineral wealth. Many sold their land and mineral
rights for pennies an acre to outlanders. Appalachians became laborers rather than
entrepreneurs. Coal became a major industry which was extremely sensitive to
outside fluctuations in the economy, leading to boom and bust cycles. The industry
was controlled by interests outside the region, so that little of the profit remained or
was reinvested.
Appalachia is often portrayed as an arrested frontier, a geographically isolated
subculture, and reservoir of culturally homogenous. Appalachians are pictured as
proud, fiercely independent, and god fearing southerners. But in all reality they are
portrayed as fighting and feuding, barefooted and backward, ignorant degenerates,
downtrodden by centuries of isolation, inbreeding, and poverty. So how was
Appalachia discovered? Well Appalachia was prompted in the mid 1870s by local
color writers such as Mary Murfee and John Fox Jr. who explored in fiction and
travel sketches such mountain themes as conflicting Civil War loyalties, moon
shining, and feuding. (Billings)
Stereotypes Of Belonging In Society
My theme report is exploring safe stereotypes and how it impacts belonging in
society. My four texts are Mother s love your sons by glenn Colquhoun, Billy elliot

Mother love your sons enforces the idea of safe stereotypes and how it impacts
belonging in society. The idea of male stereotype afflicted on belonging in society is
further developed, interestingly, in the film Billy elliot

Men of Honor
An entrepreneur is a person who organizes, operates, and assumes the risk for a
business venture (www.dictionary.com). Even though this is the definition of an
entrepreneur, there are also many other attributes that are missing. As an
entrepreneur you must have a wide variety of traits which can not only help you in
creating ideas but improve them as well. Risk taking and leadership are only a few
of the many characteristics you should possess. However, the one trait that is a
necessity in anything you do is passion. Without it not only will you become bored
with your work, but you will have less of a chance of becoming successful. One film
that shows this passion and dedication is Men of Honorstarring Cuba Gooding Jr. and

In a final twist of fate, the men threw down Carl s tool bag but not before slashing
a hole in the side allowing all the tools and supplies to sink separately. Most men
would have given up but Carl persevered. Finding every piece and working slowly
Carl remained under water while every other diver surfaced. The top navy
commander gave orders to Sunday to make sure Carl didn t get back up until he
stopped moving. Sunday was unable to follow these orders and worked on
motivating Carl to surface. Carl was determined to finish the task and refused to
leave until it was done. He didn t say he couldn t finish and he never once
complained about the unfair situation. Instead, he stayed put until the task at hand
was complete. Nine hours later Carl appeared, shaking and slightly blue. He climbed
out of the water, but not before showing the group, that had gathered, his completion
of the project. Thus, making Carl an official Navy Diver.
Soon after, Carl graduated diving school. He began receiving jobs on navel ships.
While away, on mission, he left his wife, Jo, and their son behind. Carl never had
many problems with diving. However on one mission, Carl had to find a bomb that
was in the ocean from an old attack. While on the ocean floor a Russian submarine
began to approach. Carl barely made it away from the submarine. Through the dust,
Carl saw what the submarine had uncovered; the bomb. Once Carl surfaced he was
immediately deemed a hero and everyone was extremely joyful.
My Journey Of Reflection During Project 1
Upon my journey of reflection during project 1, I have realized that I value
education. It s a way of not only gaining knowledge but sharing it with others. This
caused me to gain interest in finding organizations for project 2 that relates to the idea
of sharing knowledge and experiences. OU Cousin s is an organization held on
campus. Their purpose is to match international students with one American student
who shares the same interest, major, and hobbies. They encourage and promote the
involvement of students with each other to develop the understanding of different
cultures and experiences as well as creating new friendships. As reported on their
website under the About Us category, it says The OU Cousins program was created
in 1996 by President and Mrs. David Boren as a way of developing understanding,
friendship, and unity among U.S., International, and exchange students at the
University of Oklahoma. . I found this very interesting because I m an international
student, and one of the most things I would love to do is share my culturewith other
people. A majority of people assume negative or misleading thoughts about different
cultures. People have strong opinions and ways of thinking. That s why most
international students always enjoy explaining and sharing their experiences and
beliefs about their cultures. Moreover, that is why I believe that OU Cousins
provides a great community for having a chance to educate one another about each
other s culture.

The Benefits Of School Choice
Within the past few months, many people will most likely have noticed that Betsy
Devos has made a big deal out of school choice. So the question arises; does school
choice lead to better public schools overall? This is an important topic to talk about
because it is a hot topic in the political climate; thus, our predictions could define the
future of the United States. As a student attending public school, I have experience
with school choice in America; therefore, I can properly judge the benefits of school
choice. School choice leads to a betterquality educationbecause it drives schools to
improve their curriculum so that they can compete with the private sectors for
students, it improves the curriculum when correctly regulated, and it promotes strong
attributes in schools such as diversity. First, school choice drives schools to improve
their curriculum. As schools lose students to private sectors with a better curriculum,
they will have no choice but to improve so that they can keep students. Second,
school choice works when correctly regulated. If schools are equally accounted for,
and they are properly funded, then the option of school choice could improve school
curriculum. Finally, school choice can promote strong attributes such as diversity. In
cities like Washington D.C, it is clear that school choice has helped schools be
diverse. Insert transition here.
School choice drives schools to improve their curriculum. If a school is losing

Effects Of The Renaissance Garden Design
Palazzo Piccolomini, Pienza, Tuscany
Abstract
14th century marks one of the biggest shifts in European history, a shift in thought,
literature, arts, culture and society, leading to a change in the way of life. The
Renaissance played a major role in modelling people s thoughts and beliefs in
Europe and the effects of it were far reaching. This period changed how people
enjoyed and perceived beauty. People were being drawn back to the classical
school of thinking. They kept trying to improve and improvise on the legacy left
behind by the Greeks and Romans. There was a need to get away from the shambles
of God and the Church and move towards an eclectic society where everyone was
thinking and questioning things.
This change in people s lifestyles led them to perceive and design buildings and
their adjoining gardens differently. Garden design changed drastically from the
medieval periods; from being introverted and fortified they later became more open
with a strong sense of geometry, on a central axis. [1] The renaissancegardens were
inspired by classical ideas of order and beauty. The gardens were structured and
followed a certain strict order which was seen throughout ... Show more content on

Geometry was seen as a divine cosmic order. The Renaissance man spent a lot of
time trying to find geometric patterns in nature which later got transferred to
architecture and landscape. The garden is placed on a higher ground hence it opens
out on to the valley in such a way that it facilitates an endless view of the natural
setting of the area. The axis is selected so that the view is directed towards the
natural slope and the visitor is drawn towards the endless horizon littered with
sloping mountains and valleys. This linear perspective also acted as a physical and
visual link between the garden and the landscape, hence dissolving any boundaries
between the built and the

grounded on the assumption that the brain is made of two hemispheres performing a
variety of function, that both together can work or even each can work separately,

Moral Quotes In The Hobbit
If you were in the face of moral danger, would you step up or back away and cower
away from danger? Well, in the story The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien the main
character, Bilbo, has to face danger multiple times when he went on a quest to help
strangers take back their home. Bilbo shows his change from being a coward to a
person who lives life more adventurously and courageously. Some ways he exhibits
these actions is when he initially leaves and leaves his home, when he gets
kidnaped by a group of goblins he was barely phased by it, and when he goes face
to face with Smaug very strong dragon. When he starts he off, he is just a normal
person who lives a normal life until he is asked to go on an adventure at first he is
frightened but then decides to go. Right after he sets off on his journey after a few
nights he stays at an inn and thinks about how the last few days were Bilbo would
gladly have stopped there forever and ever even supposing a wish would have
taken him right back to his hobbit hole without trouble (Tolkien 48). In this excerpt
he wishes he could go home after having a bad trip but when he realizes that the
dwarves have no home to go back to so he continues on knowing it wouldn t be right
to leave them. Even though he could be sitting comfortably at home, he would rather
help a stranger reclaim their home. Later on in the book the party of dwarves and
Bilbo are traversing the mountainside and they get captured by a group of goblins.
The dwarves eventually
Explain What Role Does Passionfruit Play In Horticulture
Passionfruit approx. 1300 words Scientific name : Passiflora edulis (World Crops
Database, 2012) Passiflora edulis, more commonly known as passionfruit plays an
important economic role in horticulture for Australia. There are over 400 species in
the Passiflora family however the 2 most common and commercially grown
varieties of Passionfruit are the purple and yellow varieties of Passiflora edulis
(Passionfruit Juice, 2015; Shaffer Andersen, 1994). Botany Passionfruit vines are
vigorous woody perennial plants (World Crops Database, 2012). They produce
round to oval shaped berries which are approximately 5cm long and have a hard
outer casing which is either purple or yellow depending on the variety (Schaffer

If insufficient fertiliser or the wrong nutrients are applied productivity can be
compromised. Hence, it is important farmers undertake regular soil and leaf analysis
to determine an appropriate fertiliser regime for maximum production (Queensland
Government Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, 2012). The climate evidently
has a huge influence on productivity. For example, temperatures over 30 degrees can
limit flower and pollen production, whilst temperatures below 10 degrees can limit
vegetative growth both of which in turn limit yields (Janick and Paull, 2008).
Although the extent of damage may vary depending on the specific variety of
passionfruit under production. Hence, the variety of passionfruit can limit
productivity. Different varieties are suited to different climates and growing
conditions. In general yellow fruited varieties are more productive and produce
higher yields than purple fruited varieties. However there are a large variety of
different cultivars and hybrids which vary in productivity and yields (Queensland
Government Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, 2012). The presence of ample
pollinators such as carpenter bees has significant impacts on productivity. Without
sufficient levels of pollinators to ensure all flowers are pollinated, production can be
severely limited (Bee Aware,

The Bluest Eye Marigolds
What is the thing or action, that can take away someone s innocence? One might
think of a multitude of ways to lose their innocence, but would they think
something like this could be taken away from them if only a simple flower would
be hurt? No, they wouldn t. Toni Morrison is able to introduce these ideas in her
book entitled, The Bluest Eye. In the Bluest Eye, Toni Morrison uses the symbol of
marigolds and other flowers to convey the recurring theme of oppression causing the
destruction of one s innocence. She does this when she writes about the marigolds
not being able to grow, other flowers only growing in certain neighborhoods, and
how Mrs. MacTeer gardening kept her from knowing that her own daughter was
touched. Morrison uses the symbol of marigolds and other flowers to convey
oppression causing the destruction of one s innocence by writing about how the...

Where was mama and daddy? Over at the garden weeding (Morrison, 98 99). Mrs.

for a young girl to lose her innocence. She may have been weeding the unwanted

  • 2. British Control Over The Suez Canal In 1882, Great Britain took over Egypt through military invasions, making it a protectorate in order to have control over the Suez Canal. The Suez Canal connected the British Empire in the west to India in the east, making it significant trade route for Britain to control. During the Cold War, Egypt became an area of great tension, challenging British control over the canal. There was an increase of nationalism, along with the rise of Gamal Abdel Nasserto power. His rise to power lead to the Suez CanalCrisis and Egypts independence from Britain in 1956. The Arab Spring began in Tunisia in December, 2010, eventually spreading to Egypt in 2011. British control over parts of Africa during the nineteenth century lead to many crises in the 20th and 21st centuries, including the Suez Canal Crisis and the Arab Spring in Egypt. The Cold War began soon after the Second World War ended, starting in 1947 and ending in 1991. The United States and the Soviet Union competed for nuclear superiority, beginning a nuclear arms race. Most other countries were in debt because of the war, so the US and the USSR became superpowers that other countries became allies with (Kte pi, par. 4). The American side was called the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO, and consisted of Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, and the United Kingdom (Kte pi, par. 9). Albania, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Soviet
  • 3. Causes Of Airplane Accidents Whether people travel for business, vacation, or simply for pleasure, they must decide on what mode of transportation to take. Sometimes, they decide that the best form of transportation is to take a plane, and each time they enter it, they are placing their lives in the hands of a company, air traffic controller, and most importantly, the flight crew. Although airplanes are the most convenient and quickest means of transportation, accidents occur due to the failure of one of these three components. Statistically, the odds of being in an airplane accident are 1 in 7,178 compared to the 1 in 98 involving cars showing that airplanes are a safer type of transportation (5 Most Common Causes of Airplane Accidents). If for some reason there is an accident, a spectrum of people are facing the repercussions due to it and should consider these before deciding on taking a flight. Airplane accidents are a horrific tragedy that affect a variety of individuals including the airline, the manufacturer of the airplane, and the families. In the event of an accident, the airline is the earliest involved, and will be held accountable due to various factors that contribute to the airlines negligence. One prevalent factor is security failure in which a terrorist enters the plane before departure. In order to prepare for a terrorist attack, mock trials have been conducted at the busiest airports by undercover investigators. They found that they were able to smuggle mock explosives and
  • 4. Southern Culture And The Circumstances Of The War Southern culture and the circumstances of the war fostered an environment where military officials who could distinguish themselves, especially those with values that most coincided with the ideal southern man, were set up to become the mythologized figures that would eventually become central to southern history. Jackson and Lee, through their own skill sets and actions during the war, solidified their respective legacies as a martyr and a leader. In 1861, Jackson was promoted as brigadier general in the Army of Northern Virginia, where he began to distinguish himself in the following battles. He gained Lee s trust and as a result, held a fair amount of control over command (Fredriksen). Jackson gained most of his fame during the Shenandoah Valley Campaign of 1862, where he employed his signature tactic of hard, forced marches that attempted to outwit the Union ( Robert E. Lee). Jackson s strategy was to Always mystify, mislead, and surprise the enemy, if possible ( Stonewall Jackson). He believed that despite having smaller numbers, the Confederacy could defeat the Union in battle if they act aggressive and communicate well ( Shenandoah Valley Campaign ). These tactics promoted him as the most well regarded military general during the war. In the eyes of many southerners, he was their best hope of succeeding in battle, and his death at Chancellorsville in 1863 deeply hurt the morale of the Confederacy (Fredriksen). Lee, who was initially offered control of the Union
  • 5. Japan s Culture And Its Unique Geography Essay Japan s culture began with its unique geography as an island that is separated and isolated from other East Asian countries. While there are many theories about modern s Japanese ancestor; however, most Japanese archaeologists believe the first people that lived and colonized in Japan was the Ainu. The combined evidence of archeology, anthropology, and genetics have shown the indistinctive look between Ainu and the modern Japanese. In their overall genetic makeup, the Ainu are related to other East Asians, include Japanese and Koreans. The distinctive appearance and hunter lifestyle of the Ainu, and the indistinctive appearance and the intensive agricultural lifestyle of the Japanese have suggested that the Ainu are descended from Japan s original hunter gatherer inhabitants (Diamond). Japan independence includes three main dates. The most important and current constitution adopted as amendment to Meiji Constitution date was 3 May 1947. Other notable earlier dates include 660 B.C., traditional date of the founding of the nation by Emperor JIMMU and 29 November 1890, date in which Meiji Constitution provides for constitutional monarchy (Japan). The most important and major revolution in Japan s history was the Meiji Revolution, a chain of events that restored practical imperial rule to Japan in 1868 under Emperor Meiji. The Restoration led to enormous changes in Japan s political and social structure. The period spanned from 1868 to 1912 and was responsible for the
  • 6. Dual Tasking And Cognitive Tasks Dual tasking is the simultaneous execution of two tasks, (McArdle, 2015) these tasks include two elementary cognitive tasks (ECT), or secondary tasks. ECTs are basic tasks which require a small number of mental processes (Caroll, 1993.) Dual tasking is the combination of two ECTs. Main cognitive functions, utilised in ECTs, are affected during the process of dual tasking specifically in executive function and attention. Executive function includes complex mental processes such as: problem solving, planning and dual tasking as shown in a study by Zelazo (2002.) Attention includes mental processes such as the ability to concentrate on people; actions, objects and restraint from impulsive actions. This cognitive function, along with executive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This refers to focusing on one task until it is completed, rather than sharing attention to another task and simultaneously trying to complete both (Jayne, 2006.) Patients inflicted with PD, which are subject to dual task conditions, are seen with an increase in festinating steps and a worsened state of bradykinesia. In other words; an increased amount of shuffling steps and a slower pace of gait (Brauer, et al. 2011.) Furthermore, patients with the disorder whilst dual tasking demonstrate: increased variability in step length and width, leading to asymmetry in gait, and frequent motor blocks compared to walking alone (Yogev, Plotnik, Peretz, Giladi, Hausdorff, 2007; Spildooren, et al. 2010; Bloem, Valkenburg, Slabbekoorn, Dijk, 2001.) Therefore, it can be argued that gait present in PD worsens once a patient is subject to dual tasking
  • 7. The Behavioural Inattention Test ( Conventional ; Bitc ) The Behavioural Inattention Test (Conventional; BITC) is a battery of six tests which include the following: line crossing (also known as Albert s Test), letter cancellation, star cancellation, copying, line bisection, and representational drawing (i.e. clock drawing task; Wilson, Cockburn, Halligan, 1987). Each test and any subtests within the battery will be tabulated in greater detail below. It is important to note that many ADHOC versions of these tests are available online and can also be freely drawn by a clinician; however, the tests shown here are the originals. It is always advisable to administer the original tests if they are available at the time as it will mean more reliable and valid scoring. Cancellation Tests The main purpose of cancellation tasks are to assess for deficits in visual scanning and visual neglect (such as unilateral spatial neglect [USN]; Wilson et al., 1987). The table below will outline the different types of cancellation (Cx) tasks and what they assess. These tests in particular are not used to formally diagnose deficits in visual neglect or scanning, but they do act as an initial screening tool and can help in identifying difficulties surrounding certain aspects of the patient s visuospatial abilities. By using these screening tools, it provides the clinician with an indication of what needs to be further investigated by more formal tests and/or neuroimaging (Halligan, Cockburn, Wilson, 1991). • 8. Corporate Cost, Human Resource Management Cost As corporate cost is the cost associate with Treasury cost, Human resource management cost. Acitivity based costing seeks to identify cost drivers that are directly link all the activities e.g. support activities and production activities to the product manufactured or service provided. The cost of all those activities are assigned to products or services via the activity costdriver, according to the each product relative consumption of these activities. Allocating corporate overheads based on the use of volume related cost driver alone can produce the misleading cost information such as inappropriate allocation can lead to faulty conclusions about the relative product profitability. Whether corporate costs should be allocated to individual divisions when an business has more than one division that depends on whether the corporate costs are incurred primarily to support divisions business activities and whether the allocation can be reliably determined. For example, if the divisional companies are not closely related to the corporate costs and similarly the corporate costs are not necessarily incurred to facilitate the operation of each division then arguably the corporate costs should not be allocated to divisions. The allocation division also depends on the nature and type of the business, the purpose of the corporate costs allocation process and how divisions are divided. For example, if the change of corporate cost is in proportionate with the increase or decrease of
  • 9. Milton Friedman Capitalism And Freedom Analysis Milton Friedman in his book, Capitalism and Freedom, analysis the relationship between two very important aspects of a society, capitalism and freedom. Throughout the book Friedman talks about complex issues that stem from from capitalism and freedom. In chapter seven, Friedman focuses the discussion of discrimination and how that plays a role in society as a whole. In the beginning of the chapter, Friedman explains the difference between a lack of discrimination in the workplace and discrimination in the workplace. Friedman blames discrimination in the workplace on the government, and specifies the laws that are put into place that had a major effect the future of all American citizens. As Friedman starts to speculate certain laws put into... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case discrimination has a effect of the labor force and depending on the color of one s skin, which can create problems as Friedman points out. As a result there is a long history of discrimination in the workplace. The problem is that the employer was not given a choice with whom they hired. Friedman s main point is that people must have a choice in who they hire for the better of the business. What this case is more of an attempt of integration, this decision not only upsets the consumers but you make the employee a victim. Another example of this happens shortly after the repeal of Jim Crow laws, and new laws promoting integration had a negative effect. When African Americans got placed into predominantly Caucasian school, the rest of the students refused to attend school. They were so set in their beliefs that it turned out to be more of a problem and the African Americanchildren ended up suffering the most because of it. It is admirable by the government to attempt to promote integration, however it can lead to more problems as a result as Friedman points

  • 11. Mr Quiring In The Novel Analysis All appearances of characters in novels have their different roles developed, even if they are minor. Mr. Quiring in the novel, a complicated kindness, is no exception to this convention. Although Mr. Quiring rarely appears in the novel, he plays a crucial role in making the readers understand more about the protagonist, Naomi. Mr. Quiring s knowledge and behavior has an impact on the protagonist, Naomi. Mr. Quiring is described as an English teacher who always prepares carefully before his classes. The readers can perceive this through the observation of his student, Naomi, who recognizes that he practices what he plans to do in class, noting that every story must have a beginning, middle, and end (Toews 243). Consequences Of Change In Tuesdays With Morrie How has your understanding of the consequences of change been shaped by the techniques used in Tuesdays with Morrie ( TWM): The film Tuesdays with Morrie ( TWM) has shaped my understanding of the consequences of change through the main themes of change in perspective, change in relationship power dynamics, Mitch s increased commitment and the ripple effect that change causes. The representation of mitch s perspective throughout Tuesdays with Morrie, has shifted my understanding of the consequences of change through the importance of various relationships Mitch has developed and the importance of an alternative perspective to initiate self improvement. The film Tuesdays with Morrie speculates the change of the protagonist Mitch Albom, and the process of how that change was achieved. The genesis of the film shows Mitch to have a very overloaded lifestyle, this is shown in the basketball scene when we are first introduced to Mitch. In this scene Mitch is shown multitasking many different tasks at once, this is emphasized by the non diegetic sound in the movie; which is very fast past and cluttered. Another film technique that shows Mitch s hectic lifestyle is the quick jump cuts in the early scenes, these quick changes in footage may provoke the audience to feel overwhelmed; causing them to empathize with the protagonist. As the movie progresses Mitch is affected by the lessons that Morrie is giving him about life; Morrie is teaching Mitch about all the things that he previously was afraid of in life. An example of this is when Morrie teaches Mitch about silence, Morrie states what is it about the silence that makes people so uneasy? Why do people only feel comfortable when they are filling the air with words? when Morrie states this it is evident that it has an impact on Mitch by his body language in the scene and also the extreme close ups of Mitch and Morrie s facial expressions as the conversation progresses. The change in Mitch is not immediately evident but it is shown when Mitch states Why are we embarrassed by silence? What comfort do we find in all the noise? this statement shows Mitch s changing perspectives towards everyday aspects of life. The techniques that are used in Tuesdays with Morrie

The grass could look brown and dead, but beneath the surface, the roots held the soil in place; it was alive and dormant. The short grass, buffalo and blue grama, had evolved as the perfect fit for the sandy loam of the arid zone. It could hold moisture a foot or more below ground level even during summer droughts, when hot winds robbed the surface of all water bearing life. In turn, the grass nurtured pin tailed grouse, prairie chickens, cranes, jackrabbits, snakes, and other creatures that got their water from foraging on the native turf.Through the driest years, the web of life held. • 20. Inventory Control And Its Effect On The Performance Of The... An inventory management system, inventory control, and inventory accuracy are paramount to a mass production manufacturing facility, especially when multiple part types and multiple product types are being produced. Raw component inventory can account for millions of dollars of an organizations cash, which is not contributing to profitability until converted to a product and sold. Therefore, it is essential for an organization to have an inventorymanagement system and an inventory control process to account for the value associated with each part and ultimately to return value to the operation. Inventory inaccuracy can negatively impact the performance of the production control system (Chan Wang, 2014). It is difficult to account for raw materials at every stage of the manufacturing process with complete accuracy, thus, an error between the actual inventory level and the supply chain management systems record of inventories cannot be completely avoided. However, when an inaccuracy exists in the raw materials inventory it creates a negative effect on the material requirement planning (MRP) systems. The inaccuracy of the material requirement planning systems has a negative impact on the performance of production planning and scheduling, which contributes to a less than optimal production output, potentially disappointing customers with lack of manufactured goods. A traditional inventory management system assumes that the raw material stock in the organizations

The Importance Of Academic Delinquency For several years, a steady thread within the juvenile justice literature has addressed low academic attainment (Cottle, Lee, Heilbrun, 2001): educational failure, faculty disciplinary exclusion, and dropout predict teens delinquency and crime; educational achievement is a buffer for juvenile crime(Foley, 2001). even though results related to high faculty dropout encompass increased rates of unemployment, substance abuse, and criminal pastime, only 15% of kids served by means of the juvenile justice system graduate with a high school degree (Stanard, 2003). Conversely, academic attainment is critical for eventual gainful employment, task pride, more social capital (Andres Grayson, 2003), and decrease recidivism (Zgoba, Haugebrook, Jenkins, 2008). the overall trouble of low educational achievement has many reasons, amongst that s the failure to understand when a adolescents should qualify for special education status. Low success and its connection to special training status isn t completely understood. A steady concern in JJ settings, special training popularity isn t always a dependable indicator of delinquency. The unique schooling rate for JJ populations, about 35% (Kvarfordt, Purcell, Shannon, 2005), is well above the approximate 13% countrywide rate of special schooling service delivery in public faculties (countrywide center for education statistics, 2010). while the average age of the adjudicated adolescents is 15 years (about 9th 10th grade), the common studying level is 4th grade or decrease (Vacca, 2008). educational skill level, and who does no longer qualify for or obtain appropriate special training offerings, can be more crucial school primarily based indicators of delinquency threat than special education status. But, the individual student isn t the only subject; faculty environments with excessive retention, low attendance, useless behavioral control, low instructor educational ability, and reactive and punitive subject strategies are associated with academic failure, suspension, and dropout (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2005). In light of the massive literature base and consensus that academic failure and faculty based risks promote negative outcomes, the paucity of statistics

Given the nature of competition in the U.S. steel industry, what must a steel maker focus on in order to be proftable? The U.S. steel industry would have to focus on technology. It should also focus on the larger global scale in order to stay up with competition domestically and internationally. If this does not happen then the United States will not be able to stay ahead of the competition and many companies will once again go bankrupt. 4. Biologically the purpose of life is far less open to interpretation, remaining in the general area of keep living and reproduce so to keep life going. However, it is when people try to add significance and value to life that things become convoluted. Why is that? Because one may say that the value of life is one thing, then another may say something else. But which one is right? Both and neither to put it simply. In that there is neither a wrong nor right way to view life; for it is all a matter of perspective. However, it brings up the question: if the value/ significance of life is a matter of perspective that an individual must interpret and give, could it be that there is no true value/ significance to life? The Role Of Bilingualism In Diglossia As per the study of Gumperz (1962), the aspect of diglossia generally refers to the process of switching between two different languages or two different forms of languages in various situations. The concept of Diglossia was first developed by Charles A. Ferguson in 1959 with an aim to properly describe the situation of code switching that existed in Arab speaking countries where the influence of English language is gaining popularity along with the local Arab language. The aspect of Bilingual Code Switching basically refers to the process of speaking two different languages in a single conversation. This rise in code switching between languages has been on the rise due to the significant change and development in the culture of the society. The element of migration of people from one country to another can also be recognised as one of the primary reasons behind the use of bilingual languages within a conversation (Ferguson, 1971). The United States has formally maintained diplomatic relations with the European community since 1947 when the US and many European states were founding signers of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). The agreement was designed to provide an international forum that encouraged free trade between member states by regulating and reducing tariffs on traded goods and by providing a common mechanism for resolving trade disputes. The WTO replaced GATT as the organization overseeing the multilateral trading system in 1994, and now consists of 144 member states. There are three recent landmarks observed by the European Commission: the Transatlantic Declaration, New Transatlantic Agenda, and the Transatlantic Economic Partnership. In 1990 the Transatlantic Declaration was adopted, laying down the principles for greater EU/US consultation and cooperation in the fields of economy, education, science, and culture. In 1995 the New Transatlantic Agenda (NTA) and the EU/US Joint Action Plan were adopted, providing a framework for partnership under four platforms: promoting peace, stability, democracy and development around the world; responding to changes; contributing to the expansion of world trade and fostering closer ties; building bridges across the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately mountain people didn t realize the implications of their mineral wealth. Many sold their land and mineral rights for pennies an acre to outlanders. Appalachians became laborers rather than entrepreneurs. Coal became a major industry which was extremely sensitive to outside fluctuations in the economy, leading to boom and bust cycles. The industry was controlled by interests outside the region, so that little of the profit remained or was reinvested. Appalachia is often portrayed as an arrested frontier, a geographically isolated subculture, and reservoir of culturally homogenous. Appalachians are pictured as proud, fiercely independent, and god fearing southerners. But in all reality they are portrayed as fighting and feuding, barefooted and backward, ignorant degenerates, downtrodden by centuries of isolation, inbreeding, and poverty. So how was Appalachia discovered? Well Appalachia was prompted in the mid 1870s by local color writers such as Mary Murfee and John Fox Jr. who explored in fiction and travel sketches such mountain themes as conflicting Civil War loyalties, moon shining, and feuding. First, school choice drives schools to improve their curriculum. As schools lose students to private sectors with a better curriculum, they will have no choice but to improve so that they can keep students. Second, school choice works when correctly regulated. If schools are equally accounted for, and they are properly funded, then the option of school choice could improve school curriculum. Effects Of The Renaissance Garden Design Palazzo Piccolomini, Pienza, Tuscany Abstract 14th century marks one of the biggest shifts in European history, a shift in thought, literature, arts, culture and society, leading to a change in the way of life. The Renaissance played a major role in modelling people s thoughts and beliefs in Europe and the effects of it were far reaching. This period changed how people enjoyed and perceived beauty. People were being drawn back to the classical school of thinking. They kept trying to improve and improvise on the legacy left behind by the Greeks and Romans. There was a need to get away from the shambles of God and the Church and move towards an eclectic society where everyone was thinking and questioning things. This change in people s lifestyles led them to perceive and design buildings and their adjoining gardens differently. Garden design changed drastically from the medieval periods; from being introverted and fortified they later became more open with a strong sense of geometry, on a central axis. For example, temperatures over 30 degrees can limit flower and pollen production, whilst temperatures below 10 degrees can limit vegetative growth both of which in turn limit yields (Janick and Paull, 2008).
