Reasons Why Basketball Is The Best Sport
Many people believe that basketball and football can be the best sports in the world. Basketball can
be known as the best sport because it s played all over the world and tons of people like to play
/watch it. For football tons of people love to play the sport and tons of people like to watch
football every Sunday. In my opinion, I think baseballis clearly the best sport in the world. The
great sport of baseball was invented in 1839 in a town called Cooperstown, New York. Many of
you might know that this is now where the MLB hall of fame is located at and this is a great
tourist destination. Once the sport was founded here it started to branch out all over the country
and even some parts of the world. Now it s played in almost every single country in the entire
world. It s crazy how a sport like baseball can be played all around the world and rapidly grow that
fast. In all sports getting injured is always a possibility. In football and basketballACL injuries are
the most common injuries that a player can get. Also in football, there s now a growing concern
over CTE problems which is concussions to the head. This is very scary for most players and
now players are starting to retire for this reason. In the MLB, the only concern of injuries is
really in their arm and a player can almost guarantee a return at some point. So, my point is that
MLB doesn t have as many injuries as the other sports do so this attracts more players. Baseball is
the easiest sport to just pick up

Comparison Of Jeremy Bentham And Arthur Schopenhauer
Pleasure and pain are emotions that are used in the lives of people daily. Both pleasure and pain
evoke emotional and physical responses from them. Pleasure allows human beings to experience
happiness, joyfulness, and laughter through their lives. Pain allows them to be exposed to sadness,
remorse, and crying. Most people do not realize the philosophical importance that is placed on these
emotions. Two philosophers, Jeremy Bentham and Arthur Schopenhauer, are well known for their
research regarding pleasure and pain. Jeremy Bentham believed that pleasure and pain were
directly related to happiness. Because of this, he developed a scale to show the relevance of
pleasure and pain to man s happiness. Arthur Schopenhauer believed like Bentham... Show more

Schopenhauer believed that pleasure is just the absence of pain, like Bentham. The world is full
of strife and frustration which produces much conflict. Schopenhauer believed that the escape of
all this conflict, or pain, was to reject it. However, philosophical art held the key to a temporary
release. Since his philosophy is based on sympathy, Schopenhauer expressed the idea in which
feeling one s hurt or sorrow can be an effort in relieving pain (Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia,
6th Edition). In order to lose the strife in the world, the people need to minimize their desires so
there will be a tranquil frame of mind and arrangement towards the universe (Wicks, Robert).
Schopenhauer explains that suffering is caused by the willing, therefore the more intense the
willing the more intense the suffering. In every want there is a willing, and in every willing there
is a suffering. Suffering is just an uncompleted willing or want, including the pain felt in the body
(Kerns, Tom). Schopenhauer explains suffering as a continuous cycle, because when a want or
desire is fulfilled, a new desire is replaced with old. In Schopenhauer s eyes, suffering is completely
caused by the frustration and conflict that arises from competition between individual wills (UK

The Properties of Chemical Reactions
Properties of Chemical Reactions
Ms. Whitty, Science 10
Fiona Adams, November 1st, 2012
Introduction
Chemical reactions are a part of our daily lives, from rusting metal to making bread to leaves
changing colour in the fall. A chemical reaction is the process that occurs when two or more
substances combine to produce a chemical change. When a chemical reaction takes place, the
change is indicated by one or more qualitative properties. The colour or odor could change, gas
could be produced, a precipitate a solid substance in a solution could be formed, or energy could
be absorbed or released. The substances initially involved in a chemical reaction are called
reactants. When chemical reactions occur, the end result is called a ... Show more content on

The acetic acid was clear, colorless and in a liquid state. The sodium bicarbonate, however, was a
white powder, in a solid state. The reaction caused the new substance to bubble and foam,
producing a gas.
(Table 4) Quantitative Observations from Part 2 Mass of Sodium Bicarbonate (g)| 1.01| Mass of
Acetic Acid (g)| 14.29| Mass of Products (g)| 14.88|
Analysis
Part 1:
The chemical reaction that took place was evidenced by several qualitative observations. The
colour of the two original substances was clear, and when combined the colour changed to
yellow a change of colour is clear evidence of a chemical reaction. The word equation for this
reaction would be potassium iodide + lead (II) nitrate Potassium nitrate and lead (II) iodide. In the
form of a balanced equation, this reaction would be 2KI + Pb(NO3)2 2KNO3 + PbI2.
Weighing both the reactants and the product showed that the mass of the reactants, with the
apparatus, was 140.26 grams. The mass of the product, with the apparatus, was also 140.26
grams the product of this reaction had the same mass as the reactants. These results were
expected, based on the Law of Conservation of Mass. The Law of Conservation of Mass is
neither created nor destroyed in a chemical reaction. The application of the Law of Conservation of
Mass means that the mass of products in a chemical reaction will equal the mass of the

Miso Park Symbolism
Miso Park
It s my symbol and I ll cry if I want to
If enough writers use a given object or situation in enough works, we start to recognize and
understand the range of possible meanings (Foster 242)
пЃ¬Some symbols are very easy to detect (common)
пЃ¬Example: rain=sadness or fire=hope
In a situation where we encounter purely private symbols, there are some things we can fall back
on (Foster 245)
пЃ¬Some symbols are harder to detect
пЃ¬They are private , meaning that you need a deeper analysis to uncover what the symbol
represents
Use what you know (Foster 248)
пЃ¬What you learn from one book will also apply to future books as well
пЃ¬The only thing that can prepare you to read a certain book is to read the book
Every work teaches us how to read it as we go along (Foster 248)
пЃ¬This quote explains how in a book, context helps a lot in reading unfamiliar forms of literature.
пЃ¬For example, one page may help with the following pages. Therefore, every page of a book is
part of an education in reading.

Other literary example: In the Hunger Games, the Mockingjay pin seems to represent mocking jays
(hybrid between jabber jays and mockingbirds) or their home district, but in reality, it symbolizes
rebellion, and ultimately, Katniss herself; she becomes the Mockingjay.
Media/pop culture example: In Frozen, Elsa s gloves seem to be used to solely hide her magical
power to prevent hurting anyone but the deeper meaning is that the gloves represent Elsa s fear
of showing people who she really is because she is different than the others. Likewise, Hans uses
his gloves to mask his true evil self near the end of the movie, as he tries to kill Anna by leaving her

Ya Hey Poem Meaning
There are many pop cultural songs that are listened to today while waiting for the beat to drop
rather than taking a moment to understand the words. What happens if the time is taken to
comprehend the true depth behind the lyrics? Vampire Weekend s song, Ya Hey, is a song with
enormous intellect within the lyrics. The number is eclectic with references to the story of
Moses prominently standing out. The lyrics of Ya Hey are both an obvious and secret innuendo
to the Moses story. One of the first allusions made to the Moses story is during the pre chorus.
The lines state, In the dark of this place/There s the glow of your face. This is a reference to the
glow upon Moses face in Exodus 33 verse 23 when God said to Moses, then I will take away my
hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen. It is seeing God s back that
Moses had a luminous glow to his face. Also during the pre chorus, the words Ya Hey are spoken
in a series of three. In Hebrew, the number three is a divine number and refers to God. When
listening closely, Ya Hey is a homophone for Yahweh. The combination of the series of three and
homophone are attributing factors to the idea of Moses calling out to God.... Show more content on

God would not reveal his name, but stated I am, that I am when asked by Moses what he is to
say to the people. This instance occurs in Exodus 3 verses 13 14 when Moses asked, If they ask
me, What is his name? what shall I say to them? God replied I AM WHO I AM. The translation
is switched between who I am and that I am, and noted by the interchanging lyrics. Ut Deo is said
in the background and means to God. When said, it sounds like What Deo. This blurred
pronunciation refers to Moses questioning to God on what he is to

Examples Of Idealism In Frankenstein
Initially, the creature has a mind that revolves around idealistic perceptions. These perceptions
came into the picture due to the creatures encounters with humanity. Victor Frankenstein for
example, abandoned the monster at birth, consequently leading to the creature s inevitable
distress: But where were my friends and relations? No father had watched my infant days, no
mother had blessed me with the smiles and caresses;...All my past life was now a blot, a blind
vacancy in which I distinguished nothing (101). This feeling of distress was accompanied by the
monster s longing for a family or companion. This sense of loneliness sparked by Victor s immoral
actions is what led to the monster s first idealistic perception. A perception that regarded the belief
that he could mutually and happily coexist with other humans. A symbolic representation of this is
exact idea is the monsters second encounter with humanity, an encounter which occurs after the
monster has had time to ponder and fantasize about his idealistic perceptions. Confidently and
proudly, the monster enters a village full of humans: But I had hardly placed my foot within the
door before the children shrieked. And one of the women fainted. (74) expecting his idealistic belief
to be the truthhe was once again disappointed and so he creature s idealistic beliefs are questioned.
Despite this heartbreaking encounter with humanity, the monster s idealistic perceptions and
beliefs only increase further. He alters his

Crim Mapping Crime Chapter Summary
In chapter 2, Short discusses the many ways that maps have advanced over centuries. Without the
satellites and technology that we have today, maps were first created from educated guesses. Some
people thought the Earth was flat. Others believed that the universe revolved around the Earth.
Although maps have not always had the accuracy that they do today, they have still played a large
role in how we solve problems, especially when it comes to crime and public health. The latitude
and longitude on a mapmay be able to tell us where a neighborhood is located, but it doesn t
explain much about the area itself. Mapping crime began in France in the early 1800 s. It was
first used to show where different types of crime were occurring. Throughout the years, mapping
crime has advanced, giving law enforcement a visual of where crime occurs most frequently.
These maps help detectives and police officers to understand crime. They have learned that crime
is most likely to happen far enough from a criminal s home to not raise suspicion, but close enough
that the criminals are still feels comfortable with the area. A great example of the positive effects of

If there is a certain illness that is targeting one area of a map, then it is easier to narrow down the
cause of the illness. Maps can also help us learn where we need to build hospitals, urgent care
facilities, and doctor s offices. Mapping crime lets us know where hot spots are located. If we
know that a specific area has a higher crime rate, we can increase the police presence in that area
to stop the crime before it happens. Mapping of crime and public health have helped the
government and general public learn how to improve the quality of life for the people living in
that area. Mapping is not just about knowing the latitude and longitude of a specific place, but it
can help us to learn how we can improve the world around

In this internal assessment, I am given a cantilever to find the physical properties of it. I decide to
investigate the relationship between the force I act on one side of the cantilever and the maximum
acceleration the tail can reach. This experiment will be also showing the elasticity of the

The Washoe County School District
The Washoe County School District recognizes the importance of sustainability and how
sustainability will allow for our stakeholders to have a successful future. As a district we believe in
implementing sustainable values in each person that we come into contact with by leading lives
that are reflective of creating a sustainable future. The WCSD defines sustainabilityas: creating an
environment that promotes learning, civic engagement, and collaboration in ways that create
mindful citizens that are aware of how the choices we make today impact our current conditions
and have ripple effects that carry into our future.
The sustainability vision or sustaiNVision for the WCSD is; Create an educational system that can
be sustained indefinitely through sustainable practices in education, energy usage, water usage, and
building and land usage. The Washoe County SchoolDistrict will create engaged students and
professionals that enter the world with a sustainable mindset as responsible citizens that work to
design the future.
The sustainability values or sustaiNValues for the WCSD are collaboration, celebration,
transparency, and leadership. The main challenges that we see impeding the sustainability plan are
the size of the district, the varying backgrounds of students in the district, and schools with building
that vary greatly in age and relative building size.
The key focus areas that the WCSD will focus on in implementing sustainability throughout the
district are energy,

Blind Side
The movie that I had selected to watch is called Blind Side . This movie is based off a real story
about a boy named Michael Oher who was a black youth living in homelessness and grew up
without his mother. He experienced many traumatizing events of separation but ended up going to
Wingate Christian School where he met Leigh Anne Tuohy. Through series of events, Michael was
eventually adopted into Leigh s familyand was accepted as her son. She encouraged and supported
Michael to excel in school and sports. Ultimately, Michael was able to receive many scholarships
from different Universities who saw Michael s excellent skills in football.
While watching this movie, I had identified several factors of how personality can be applied to
sport ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning of the movie, Michael was tested of his personality. Though he score extremely
low in all aspects and areas of the test, he scored over 95% in protective instinct. When Michael
started to play football, he had a rough start. He was uncertain of the concept and strategies. He
did not understand how to block opponents and was yelled by the coach many times. However,
the yelling did not help him improve. Instead, he became more confused. This was not Michaels
learning behaviour so whenever he was coached in this specific way, he was not able to absorb
anything that the coach had mentioned to help him improve. That was until Leigh stepped in.
When Leigh observed how Michael was doing, she saw the flaw of how Michael was being
coached. She took action and considered Michael s personality in account to how he performs. As
mentioned above, in the beginning the school board had taken his personality test and scored
98% in protective instinct. Leigh used this opportunity to connect both Michael s personality and
sports to teach him how to block. She related the football players to the family that he cares for.
When Leigh and Michael first interacted, he brought her to the area he was born in. That area is
known for violence and surrounded by those who live in poverty. While walking with Leigh
around that neighbourhood, Michael promised to protect her if anything were to happen.
Additionally, while S.J and Michael were in a car accident, Michael protected S.J by stopping the
airbag from making contact with him. Leigh used these situations to exemplify that the team is
Michael s family and it is his job to protect them from their opponents. She then illustrated that the
quarterback is who he needed to protect as if the quarterback was Leigh herself. She continued by
displaying that when Michael sees his

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease (McInnes Schett, 2011; Smolen Steiner, 2003;

In this study, crab shell wastes will be used as source of the treatment since they are readily
available and abundant (Kim Park, 2015; Das Ganesh, 2009). Furthermore, crab shells also contain
useful chemicals that may be used for pharmaceuticals (Chen Yan, 2015). In addition, they contain
high contents of chitin which is ideal as a source (Kim Park, 2015; Das Ganesh, 2009). Chitin is a

The United States Health Care System Essay
The United States health care system is lacking the needs to create a reliable system to achieve
quality, access, cost, and educate for the consumers. Despite the efforts of the government to find
a common ground to meet the standard for the societies, the system has yet to have a major
improvement. These issues must be reexamined to fix the broken system. The United States
health care expenditure is another issue that needs to be addressed to achieve the future goals of
the healthcare system in the United States. Healthcare societies will need to interact differently
by incorporating consumer s empowerment, technology, and education to meet the future goals
of the health care system. Also, the consumer must be highly educated on the purpose of
preventive care to lower the risk of chronic diseases which account for a lot health care spending.
The process of correcting the United States health care system will take time and effort from all
individual to achieve greatness. What is the perfect health care system and how to achieve that
system? Unfortunately, we will never achieve what is considered the perfect health care system
because we don t proceed perfection as the same. Some may believe that a blue sky with a hint of
sunlight is the perfect opportunity to embrace the use of Vitamin D, and others may believe it is
too hot to be out. So, again the healthcare system will never be perfect, but we can try to
incorporate all Americans with the decision making process.

Judgement In The Poisonwood Bible
Never judge a book by its cover. People judge others based solely on differences and stereotypes
created by others and false rumors. In the novel The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
this is seen many times throughout the book. Nathan, the father in the novel believes that
women are held to a certain standard and shows that in theses examples. First, when Nathan
yells, Nakedness, and darkness of the soul! For we shall destroy this place where the loud
clamor of the sinners in waxen great before the face of the Lord. (7). This shows Nathan judging
the women of the Kilanga Village based on the bible because he believes they are sinning because

Lolita Literary Criticism
Vladimir Nabokov s Lolita is notable for its controversial subject: the protagonist and unreliable
narrator. Through the years since the book was published there has been an emencice amount of
controversy on the actual contents of the book, but when applying the psychoanalytic literary lens
an entirely different understanding of the text is presented. Through an abstract point of view, an
intense inner conflict in the narrator, and an unusual definition of beauty, the text evokes an intense
emotional response from readers that can not be expected from the initial perspective of the book.
The point of view of Lolita is not unusual, what causes the emotional response is in fact who the
narrator is. Humbert Humbert, the narrator, is a murdering pedophile, this perspective can
initially be disturbing and even stopped a lot of potential readers from actually reading the book.
In the article Romantic parody and the ironic muse in Lolita. Brian Walter addresses how the
author manipulated readers views on an admittedly criminal character. Walter claims that If the

Urban Regeneration in the London Docklands Essay
Urban Regeneration in the London Docklands
The London Docklands Development Corporation is located along the River Thames Estuary
2.a) The London Docklands had to close for many reasons. The main reason was the Second
World War. The area suffered substantial bomb damage in the Second World War, which lead to
the need for a substantial rebuilding programme. In the first 20 years after the Second World War,
many buildings came to the end of their usefulness. A number of factors contributed to the decline
in the importance of the Docklands. London was no longer the centre of world trade and so much
of the dock space and warehousing was no longer needed. Some manufacturing activities were ...

These responsibilities included the reclamation of land, the provision of transport infrastructure,
environmental improvement and the attraction of private sector investment. The LDDC acquired
land and promoted transport development in the form of the Docklands Light Railway and London
City Airport to attract development and fill up the Isle of Dogs. The LDDC had four aims that
they wanted to achieve in the Docklands. They were basically to improve the economic, social
and physical aspects of the area. To improve the economic aspect of the area, they had to create
jobs for the unemployed who were living in the Docklands. To do this, they had to bring in major
companies. The LDDC decided to provide a good infrastructure to the area. They provided the gas,
electric and roads. Transport was a main problem, so ВЈ600 million was spent on transport, and
another ВЈ300 million on just the Docklands Railway.
3. a) Many office buildings were built, including Canary Wharf. Large newspaper companies
were attracted to the Docklands, away from Fleet Street because of the new Canary Wharf
building. This is one of the tallest buildings in England, at 800ft high and boasting 50 stories.
Companies were attracted to Canary Wharf because of the quality of it with air conditioning, deep
floors, and open office space. Building space in London was short and expensive.

Biosphere Water Ecosystem Research Paper
4.02 The Biosphere, Water Ecosystem
Choose one specific lake, river, sea or bay. You will be researching biotic and abiotic factors about
that lake ecosystem.
Name of lake/river/sea/bay: Lake Superior
Location: Lake Superior is located in North America.
Geography (describe the land that surrounds your body of water):
Lake Superior is the largest fresh water lake in the world by surface area and the third largest in the
world by volume. Lake Superior is very cold so it causes the land surrounding it to be cold as well.
Most of the land surrounding the lake is heavily forested. Many people choose not to farm around
the lake because it is very cold and not good for the crops and the soil is not very well.

Plant #2: Flowering Rush Tree was original grown in the region of the great lakes so it did not
have to do much adapting.
Animal #1: The Wood Frog is cold blooded so its blood changes when the temperature changes.
They are specially adapted for cold northern winters. Their bodies create a natural anti freeze that
allows them to survive while they are hibernating.
Animal#2: The bloater fish adapts to the climate of Lake Superior adapts to survive by growing
into a bigger size when the temperature gets colder.

I was born on May 1, 1999 in San Diego, California. At this time my father, Charles Sullins was a

asset management.
Profitability:
Source: Morning Star Investment Research center.
From the tabular column we could see that tax rate has been growing each year starting from
2005. In 2014 tax rate reached 34.55%. Normally if tax rate increases, the net margin tends to
decrease. But in the case of American express (NYSE:AXP) the net margin has been increasing
each year starting from 2005 to 2014. In 2014 it reached 17.16%. This implies either the revenue
has been increasing or company is decreasing its operating expenses. We could also see increase
on return on assets. In 2014 it reached 3.77%. So we can infer that each year the return on assets is
increasing which is a good sign. Financial leverage means the company used debt in the process to
acquire new assets. As this has been on a decreasing note i.e. in 2014 it is 7.7, this means the
company s liability is decreasing. Investors usually prefer a company that has minimal debts. Now
we consider return on equity, each year return on equity is increasing. Investors would be happy
because there investment is getting appreciated. Based on profitability ratios, stock has a tendency
to do well in the future.

How Diseases Affects Every Individual Essay
Introduction
Diseases affect every individual. They could have a disease themselves, may know someone or
of someone that has one, or the country where they live could have have faced a disease
epidemic. Epidemics, which we have studied in our course, analyze how diseases spread and
how outbreaks affect countless individuals in countless different countries. This topic relates
directly to course material as it encompasses many of the situations and ideas that have been
discussed such as, poverty, dying, environment, and social factors and how they relate and
coincide with disease. The country you reside in ultimately dictates the technological advances
that you have access to when dealing with stopping the spread of diseases. Epidemics also can
be considered by looking at poverty because non industrialized countries have a harder time
when it comes to dealing with the spread of disease as they do not possess the tools that are used
to prevent spreading. We have studied how the overall development of the country where you live
can play a very important role in the assistance you receive as well as the level of care. Thus, the
next five articles consider how diseases are handled and dealt with depending on the location of the
country and whether or not it is an industrialized or non industrialized.

This case deals with the valuation of AirThread Connections Business (ATC) from the perspective
of its potential acquirer, American Cable Communication (ACC). ACC is a large cable operator

However it is recently looking to acquire ATC which is one of the largest wireless companies in the

Cash Flow for ATC during the period 2008 2012 as shown in the above table.
Discount rate calculation for AirThread
To calculate the discount rate for AirThread, we have looked at the industry Asset Beta (this
measures the systematic business risk).
The Asset Beta for each firm is calculated using the formula ОІa= ОІe/1+(D/E)(1 t)
e.g. For Universal Mobile this value is computed as follows (we are using the tax rate as 40%)
0.86 / (1 + (0.923)(1 0.4) = 0.5534
The Industry average is simply the average of all the firms listed. Once we have the Asset Beta, we
can calculate the Equity beta using the following formula ОІe = ОІa/ (1 (D/V))
The highlighted row represents the average Debt/Value ratio for the industry as seen in the previous
table. Therefore the Unlevered Cost of

You shall not commit adultery . However mitigating circumstance for David, talking about
adultery, is the fact that when he first met Bathsheba he didn t knew she was married: From the

Winter Chill Research Paper
Temperature conditions are critical in determining sufficient winter chill exposure. However, the
process is physiological and likely to be driven by other, yet undetermined, processes (Dennis,
1994). Hormonal controls have been suggested as the mechanism, with early research proposing the
process is controlled by a balance of growth promoters and inhibitors (Amen, 1968). More recent
research 4 suggests that temperaturecues specific hormones, such as indoleacetic acid, gibberellins,
abscisic acid, and ethylene, which then control dormancy breaking (Seeley, 1990; Horvath, 2009).
To date, the causal biological drivers of dormancy remain elusive to researchers (Dennis, 1994).
Resultantly, the physiological response is commonly estimated by temperature based models (e.g.
Weinberger, 1950; Richardson et al., 1974; Shaltout and Unrath, 1983; Fishman et al., 1987;
Linvill, 1990; Cesaraccio et al., 2004).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Different species require different threshold amounts of chill to break dormancy. Frequently, these
chill requirements are defined according to different chill models resulting in chill thresholds
reported in different units (e.g. Table 2). For instance, Ghariani and Stebbins (1994) reported chill
thresholds for 43 apple and 38 pear varieties using the Utah model (measured in chill units); Zhang
and Taylor (2011) determined chill requirement for Sirora pistachio using the Dynamic model
(measured in chill portions) and; Baldocchi and Wong (2008) used thresholds defined in chill hours
for 18 fruit and nut varieties to investigate future chill conditions in California. Cherry specific

Similarities Between The United States And The Judicial...
Believe it or not, the democratic principles, like our government, of today is based off of the
government established by the Roman Republic. First off, the Romans created a separation of
power in the government, as a system of checks and balances. For example, the Executive branch
of the Roman Republic had two consuls, who were elected by the assembly and served for one
year as chief executives and commander in chief of the army. This is much like the Executive
branch of the United States, where we have one president who serves a four year term as chief
executive and commander in chief of the army. Another example of commonality between the
United States and the Roman Republic is their Judicial branch. In the Roman Republic, their Judicial

Peter Pan Is A Subversive For Children s Book
Children s literature is an effective teaching tool for children but also a way for children to escape
their daily lives through fantasy. Didactic material can be used to teach life lessons, manners and
morals where subversive and fantasy genres can allow children to release from daily expectations
and allows an outlet for their large imaginations. I argue that Peter Panby J.M. Barrie is both
didactic and subversive. It is subversive in the sense that it is whimsical and entertaining. This is
proven in the Fanatical style of Barrie with children flying, fighting pirates and never having to
grow up if they choose to stay in Neverland, the place where grown ups aren t allowed. However,
the text is also didactic because it teaches the lesson of fairness and gender roles of the time. In
total both of these elements make Barrie s Peter Pan an exceptional children s book that enables
children to be entertained and learn values of fairness and societal roles of the publication time.
Peter Pan is subversive in many elements, from flying, dogs that are caretakers, magical places,
fairies made from laughter and the idea that adults are forbidden. The text takes the children to
Neverland where there are no adults and you never have to grow up. In the child s eye of then
and now adult life is mundane and structured. To quote Alison Lurie s A Child s Garden of
Subversion books of Peter Pan and alike about subversive texts These were the sacred texts of

The Classic Era And The Classic And Romantic Eras
The first public music concerts took place in the early 1700s. Before public concerts became
more common, music was mostly performed for monarchs and aristocrats (Burkholder 466). As
music became readily available to the public, composers began writing in a style that was easily
understood by everyone. The period of musicthat began in 1720 is called the Classic Era.
However, as the political landscape of Europe changed, so did music. Conflicts across the
continent forced many composers to look for work as freelance artists, instead of writing for
royal families (Burkholder 592). Composers began trying to capture the attention of the public
by writing pieces with memorable melodies and strong emotions. By 1820, the Classic Era had
transformed into the Romantic Era. The Classic and Romantic Eras differ in musical style, the
use of musical forms, and the design of musical instruments. One of the main differences
between the Classic and Romantic Eras is musical style. In the Classic Era, composers drew
inspiration from ancient Greece and Rome. According to Shannon Baker Moore, Similar to the
simple, classic lines of an ancient Greek temple, composers wanted music that was balanced,
beautiful, and orderly (52). Classic Era music also mirrored the beliefs of philosophers like Voltaire
and Rousseau, who valued logic and reason (Moore 52). A good example of Classic Era music is
Mozart s Piano Concerto No. 21, which is characterized by its light and charming melodies. In

Gun Ownership and Gun Control in Canada Essay
Gun Ownership and Gun Control in Canada
The Oscar won documentary Bowling for Columbine has aroused people s awareness of gun
ownership and gun control issues. Should gun ownership be banned or should guns be controlled?
Does gun ownership create a violent society? The answer is not measurable, however, from the
firearm situation between America and Canada, the answer is more obvious. America probably has
the highest rate of gun ownership in the world. In Canada, the percentage of Canadian households
with a rifle is approximately equal to the level in United States. According to the statistics of gun

Despite having one of the highest rates of gun ownerships, Canada actually has the lowest crime
rate in the world. Well, a uniform federal firearms control system seems far more important than the
number of gun ownership. In order to reduce the availability of guns, strict regulations should be
addressed. Any occupant who conditionally needs a gun should acquire a certificate from both the
police and doctors. Personal and medical details of gun owner should be honestly provided.
According to the gun control system established in Canada, Canadians who wish to purchase a gun
must acquire a Firearm Acquisition Certificate from the police. In order to obtain a Firearms
Acquisition Certificate, am applicant must provide identification and background information,
including addresses for the past five years. Unlike some American states, applicants are not
acquired to supply medical information to the police.
Apart from applying for gun certificates, the restriction of uses of certain guns should be
regulated so as to ensure no collateral effect. For example, the Canadian FAC system includes
control of restricted weapons and prohibited weapons. Restricted weapons must be stored only in
one s home or place of business depending on terms of the registration certificate. Prohibited
weapons, such as shotguns, sawed off rifles and silencers are absolutely illegal in Canada. In

So Jurgis would begin to forget and be happy, because he was in a world where there was a thing
so beautiful as the smile of little Antanas (Sinclair 134 135). While the family remains intact,
they do not remain that way for very long. Jonas leaves the family before long, and eventually
Jurgis leaves the family as well. No , she answered, I don t blame you. We never have any of us.
You did your best the job was too much for us (Sinclair 332). Marija clearly gave up hope for their
family long ago.
Another aspect of poverty remains the way a person looks at the family. Regardless of a person
s self confidence and secureness, one cannot help but to care about another person s opinion.
The family receives the evil eye all the time. Jurgis even gets blacklisted from Packingtown,
taking away his ability to get a job and support the family. This occurs as a result of Jurgis

The Positive Effects Of Retainment
There have been many studies performed in recent years over the effects of retainment. The
reasoning behind why a student is being retained can be a big deciding factor on whether it will
end with success or not. When a child is behind their peers because of age or numerous absences,
retainment is an option for them. At an older level, kids have a higher rate of success than those
who have been retained (Davis School District, 2011). When repeating a grade, they can have
success the next year, and can gain more confidence. However, retainment works best for students
when at a young, lower elementary age. Research has shown that retaining a studentcan often point
them in a negative direction. Students can experience bad impacts in all areas

David Tennant s Get Thee To A Nunnery Scene
Each video of the Get thee to a nunnery scene was interpreted in a different way. the videos took
place in a different location, and the some of them evoked different emotions. The Mel Gibson
scene took place in an open area. When Hamlet found out that Ophelia father was listening he
seemed more hurt than angry. In the David Tennant the scene took place in an open room. In this
scene hamlet found out someone was listening also. This time he reacted angry and a little violent.

Socio Economic Class And Health Inequality
Socio economic class has been linked to health inequality ever since the mid 19 century, when
reported the living condition of the poor. Chadwick, E.1842 reported that the average life
expectancy in Bethnal Green was 45 for professional but only 16 for labourers. Concern about
inequality within the population in the early 20th century was offered as one major justification for
the setting up of National Health Service (NHS) based on the recommendation of the Beverage
report (1942). The health inequality still exists relating the socio economic (RG social classscale)
and life expectancy. In the late 20th, the Black Report (1980) confirmed that social class is the
main cause of overall death and the inequality gap between social classesstrata appear to be
widening. Townsend and Davidson (1982) identified five most important factors of income;
occupation, education, housing and lifestyle affecting health. Of these factors occupation is one of
the most accurate predictors of all life chance. Social class model has three general categories:
upper class, middle classand working class. In Europe, it has been relay on occupation based
measure of socio economic status to demonstrate inequality. In the UK, five class scheme
Registrar General s scale of Social Class and Socio economic groups has been used since 1911.
Table 2(see appendix 2) shows European standardised mortality rates by occupational class in
those male aged 20 64 years in rates 100,000 population. It relates to

  • 2. Reasons Why Basketball Is The Best Sport Many people believe that basketball and football can be the best sports in the world. Basketball can be known as the best sport because it s played all over the world and tons of people like to play /watch it. For football tons of people love to play the sport and tons of people like to watch football every Sunday. In my opinion, I think baseballis clearly the best sport in the world. The great sport of baseball was invented in 1839 in a town called Cooperstown, New York. Many of you might know that this is now where the MLB hall of fame is located at and this is a great tourist destination. Once the sport was founded here it started to branch out all over the country and even some parts of the world. Now it s played in almost every single country in the entire world. It s crazy how a sport like baseball can be played all around the world and rapidly grow that fast. In all sports getting injured is always a possibility. In football and basketballACL injuries are the most common injuries that a player can get. Also in football, there s now a growing concern over CTE problems which is concussions to the head. This is very scary for most players and now players are starting to retire for this reason. In the MLB, the only concern of injuries is really in their arm and a player can almost guarantee a return at some point. So, my point is that MLB doesn t have as many injuries as the other sports do so this attracts more players. Baseball is the easiest sport to just pick up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparison Of Jeremy Bentham And Arthur Schopenhauer Pleasure and pain are emotions that are used in the lives of people daily. Both pleasure and pain evoke emotional and physical responses from them. Pleasure allows human beings to experience happiness, joyfulness, and laughter through their lives. Pain allows them to be exposed to sadness, remorse, and crying. Most people do not realize the philosophical importance that is placed on these emotions. Two philosophers, Jeremy Bentham and Arthur Schopenhauer, are well known for their research regarding pleasure and pain. Jeremy Bentham believed that pleasure and pain were directly related to happiness. Because of this, he developed a scale to show the relevance of pleasure and pain to man s happiness. Arthur Schopenhauer believed like Bentham... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schopenhauer believed that pleasure is just the absence of pain, like Bentham. The world is full of strife and frustration which produces much conflict. Schopenhauer believed that the escape of all this conflict, or pain, was to reject it. However, philosophical art held the key to a temporary release. Since his philosophy is based on sympathy, Schopenhauer expressed the idea in which feeling one s hurt or sorrow can be an effort in relieving pain (Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th Edition). In order to lose the strife in the world, the people need to minimize their desires so there will be a tranquil frame of mind and arrangement towards the universe (Wicks, Robert). Schopenhauer explains that suffering is caused by the willing, therefore the more intense the willing the more intense the suffering. In every want there is a willing, and in every willing there is a suffering. Suffering is just an uncompleted willing or want, including the pain felt in the body (Kerns, Tom). Schopenhauer explains suffering as a continuous cycle, because when a want or desire is fulfilled, a new desire is replaced with old. In Schopenhauer s eyes, suffering is completely caused by the frustration and conflict that arises from competition between individual wills (UK ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Table 4) Quantitative Observations from Part 2 Mass of Sodium Bicarbonate (g)| 1.01| Mass of Acetic Acid (g)| 14.29| Mass of Products (g)| 14.88| Analysis Part 1: The chemical reaction that took place was evidenced by several qualitative observations. The colour of the two original substances was clear, and when combined the colour changed to yellow a change of colour is clear evidence of a chemical reaction. The word equation for this reaction would be potassium iodide + lead (II) nitrate Potassium nitrate and lead (II) iodide. In the form of a balanced equation, this reaction would be 2KI + Pb(NO3)2 2KNO3 + PbI2. Weighing both the reactants and the product showed that the mass of the reactants, with the apparatus, was 140.26 grams. The mass of the product, with the apparatus, was also 140.26 grams the product of this reaction had the same mass as the reactants. These results were expected, based on the Law of Conservation of Mass. The Law of Conservation of Mass is neither created nor destroyed in a chemical reaction. • 6. Ya Hey Poem Meaning There are many pop cultural songs that are listened to today while waiting for the beat to drop rather than taking a moment to understand the words. What happens if the time is taken to comprehend the true depth behind the lyrics? Vampire Weekend s song, Ya Hey, is a song with enormous intellect within the lyrics. The number is eclectic with references to the story of Moses prominently standing out. The lyrics of Ya Hey are both an obvious and secret innuendo to the Moses story. One of the first allusions made to the Moses story is during the pre chorus. The lines state, In the dark of this place/There s the glow of your face. This is a reference to the glow upon Moses face in Exodus 33 verse 23 when God said to Moses, then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen. It is seeing God s back that Moses had a luminous glow to his face. Also during the pre chorus, the words Ya Hey are spoken in a series of three. In Hebrew, the number three is a divine number and refers to God. When listening closely, Ya Hey is a homophone for Yahweh. The combination of the series of three and homophone are attributing factors to the idea of Moses calling out to God.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These perceptions came into the picture due to the creatures encounters with humanity. No father had watched my infant days, no mother had blessed me with the smiles and caresses;...All my past life was now a blot, a blind vacancy in which I distinguished nothing (101). This feeling of distress was accompanied by the monster s longing for a family or companion. This sense of loneliness sparked by Victor s immoral actions is what led to the monster s first idealistic perception. A perception that regarded the belief that he could mutually and happily coexist with other humans. A symbolic representation of this is exact idea is the monsters second encounter with humanity, an encounter which occurs after the monster has had time to ponder and fantasize about his idealistic perceptions. Confidently and proudly, the monster enters a village full of humans: But I had hardly placed my foot within the door before the children shrieked. And one of the women fainted. • 8. Crim Mapping Crime Chapter Summary In chapter 2, Short discusses the many ways that maps have advanced over centuries. Without the satellites and technology that we have today, maps were first created from educated guesses. Some people thought the Earth was flat. Others believed that the universe revolved around the Earth. Although maps have not always had the accuracy that they do today, they have still played a large role in how we solve problems, especially when it comes to crime and public health. The latitude and longitude on a mapmay be able to tell us where a neighborhood is located, but it doesn t explain much about the area itself. Mapping crime began in France in the early 1800 s. It was first used to show where different types of crime were occurring. Throughout the years, mapping crime has advanced, giving law enforcement a visual of where crime occurs most frequently. These maps help detectives and police officers to understand crime. They have learned that crime is most likely to happen far enough from a criminal s home to not raise suspicion, but close enough that the criminals are still feels comfortable with the area. However, the yelling did not help him improve. Instead, he became more confused. This was not Michaels learning behaviour so whenever he was coached in this specific way, he was not able to absorb anything that the coach had mentioned to help him improve. That was until Leigh stepped in. When Leigh observed how Michael was doing, she saw the flaw of how Michael was being coached. She took action and considered Michael s personality in account to how he performs. As mentioned above, in the beginning the school board had taken his personality test and scored 98% in protective instinct. Leigh used this opportunity to connect both Michael s personality and sports to teach him how to block. She related the football players to the family that he cares for. Through the years since the book was published there has been an emencice amount of controversy on the actual contents of the book, but when applying the psychoanalytic literary lens an entirely different understanding of the text is presented. Through an abstract point of view, an intense inner conflict in the narrator, and an unusual definition of beauty, the text evokes an intense emotional response from readers that can not be expected from the initial perspective of the book. The point of view of Lolita is not unusual, what causes the emotional response is in fact who the narrator is. Profitability: Source: Morning Star Investment Research center. From the tabular column we could see that tax rate has been growing each year starting from 2005. In 2014 tax rate reached 34.55%. Normally if tax rate increases, the net margin tends to decrease. But in the case of American express (NYSE:AXP) the net margin has been increasing each year starting from 2005 to 2014. In 2014 it reached 17.16%. This implies either the revenue has been increasing or company is decreasing its operating expenses. We could also see increase on return on assets. In 2014 it reached 3.77%. So we can infer that each year the return on assets is increasing which is a good sign. Financial leverage means the company used debt in the process to acquire new assets. As this has been on a decreasing note i.e. in 2014 it is 7.7, this means the company s liability is decreasing. Investors usually prefer a company that has minimal debts. Now we consider return on equity, each year return on equity is increasing. Investors would be happy because there investment is getting appreciated. They could have a disease themselves, may know someone or of someone that has one, or the country where they live could have have faced a disease epidemic. Epidemics, which we have studied in our course, analyze how diseases spread and how outbreaks affect countless individuals in countless different countries. This topic relates directly to course material as it encompasses many of the situations and ideas that have been discussed such as, poverty, dying, environment, and social factors and how they relate and coincide with disease. The country you reside in ultimately dictates the technological advances that you have access to when dealing with stopping the spread of diseases. Epidemics also can be considered by looking at poverty because non industrialized countries have a harder time when it comes to dealing with the spread of disease as they do not possess the tools that are used to prevent spreading. We have studied how the overall development of the country where you live can play a very important role in the assistance you receive as well as the level of care. Thus, the next five articles consider how diseases are handled and dealt with depending on the location of the country and whether or not it is an industrialized or non industrialized. • 29. Winter Chill Research Paper Temperature conditions are critical in determining sufficient winter chill exposure. However, the process is physiological and likely to be driven by other, yet undetermined, processes (Dennis, 1994). Hormonal controls have been suggested as the mechanism, with early research proposing the process is controlled by a balance of growth promoters and inhibitors (Amen, 1968). More recent research 4 suggests that temperaturecues specific hormones, such as indoleacetic acid, gibberellins, abscisic acid, and ethylene, which then control dormancy breaking (Seeley, 1990; Horvath, 2009). To date, the causal biological drivers of dormancy remain elusive to researchers (Dennis, 1994). Resultantly, the physiological response is commonly estimated by temperature based models (e.g. Weinberger, 1950; Richardson et al., 1974; Shaltout and Unrath, 1983; Fishman et al., 1987; Linvill, 1990; Cesaraccio et al., 2004).... For example, the Executive branch of the Roman Republic had two consuls, who were elected by the assembly and served for one year as chief executives and commander in chief of the army. Didactic material can be used to teach life lessons, manners and morals where subversive and fantasy genres can allow children to release from daily expectations and allows an outlet for their large imaginations. I argue that Peter Panby J.M. Barrie is both didactic and subversive. It is subversive in the sense that it is whimsical and entertaining. This is proven in the Fanatical style of Barrie with children flying, fighting pirates and never having to grow up if they choose to stay in Neverland, the place where grown ups aren t allowed. However, the text is also didactic because it teaches the lesson of fairness and gender roles of the time. In total both of these elements make Barrie s Peter Pan an exceptional children s book that enables children to be entertained and learn values of fairness and societal roles of the publication time. Peter Pan is subversive in many elements, from flying, dogs that are caretakers, magical places, fairies made from laughter and the idea that adults are forbidden. The text takes the children to Neverland where there are no adults and you never have to grow up. In the child s eye of then and now adult life is mundane and structured. • 34. The Classic Era And The Classic And Romantic Eras The first public music concerts took place in the early 1700s. Before public concerts became more common, music was mostly performed for monarchs and aristocrats (Burkholder 466). As music became readily available to the public, composers began writing in a style that was easily understood by everyone. The period of musicthat began in 1720 is called the Classic Era. However, as the political landscape of Europe changed, so did music. Conflicts across the continent forced many composers to look for work as freelance artists, instead of writing for royal families (Burkholder 592). Composers began trying to capture the attention of the public by writing pieces with memorable melodies and strong emotions. By 1820, the Classic Era had transformed into the Romantic Era. The Classic and Romantic Eras differ in musical style, the use of musical forms, and the design of musical instruments. One of the main differences between the Classic and Romantic Eras is musical style. In the Classic Era, composers drew inspiration from ancient Greece and Rome. According to Shannon Baker Moore, Similar to the simple, classic lines of an ancient Greek temple, composers wanted music that was balanced, beautiful, and orderly (52). Classic Era music also mirrored the beliefs of philosophers like Voltaire and Rousseau, who valued logic and reason (Moore 52). A good example of Classic Era music is Mozart s Piano Concerto No. 21, which is characterized by its light and charming melodies. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Concern about inequality within the population in the early 20th century was offered as one major justification for the setting up of National Health Service (NHS) based on the recommendation of the Beverage report (1942).
