Expressing Emotions Through Visual Elements
1.
2. The way she is holding herself, shows us that she is either cold, or trying to comfort herself. The framing has cut of her head, this means, that she has no identity or she doesn’t want to reveal herself. The colour is green, green means envy and miserable. The colour makes her stand out from the background, this makes us think, straight to the point. The camera position is at her level, but is at the same time looking up on her. The sea looks angry and evil, but not lonely, this causes the mood to change as you look at different parts of the picture or mise-en-scence.
3. The lighting is only small, which means it darkens the rest of the room and eliminates a small patch. The man is looking down and Is not connecting with the camera, or the person who is taking the picture. This shows the man to be more vulnerable. The man is blacked out an looks shadowed, as he is blacked out is shows him to be lonelier because black means lonely. The camera angle is at his level and is taking the picture almost from a diagonal view. The framing is just showing him and the darkened room, there is also nothing else in the mise-en-scence.
4. The camera angle is an over the shoulder shot. The girl is looking away from the camera, she looks vulnerable, and sad. This is because she has her head stooped and shoulders slumped. The mise-en-scene, could be that she is outside a park, sitting on a bench. The way there is only one flower, reinforced her emotions and also the flower is vulnerable too. also has a connotation because
5. The window has rain drops on it, rain can have a connotation of sadness or showing that she is upset or has been crying. Her hand being pressed up to the window shows her feelings and emotions, as if she is reaching out for someone or something. It also shows that she is trapped and cut of from the world. Her face is blurred, this is showing us that she is lonely and doesn't really have an identity. The colour is grey, the connotations for grey is that there is a lack of energy and that it is eyrie and quite.
6. The people are blurred out to make us feel like they are just brushing past the litter girl, as if she is invisible. Her legs are angled, in a innocent sort of way, just like her hair and clothing, it is all what you would dress a little girl in. The mise-en-scene could be a busy street, or a playground behind the little girl. Her expression on her face is a sort of crumpled sort of confused face, as if she dent know why she is on her own and lonely. The colour is grey, which again means there is a lack of energy, quietness and eeriness. And the light is dim which means it is a sad sort of depressing picture.
