Science 8 is a continuation of the study of Physical
Science as it applies to the study of the Earth and its
surroundings. Major Topics Include:

Mapping
Students will take the ILS Assessment in May and June
and sufficient time will be allocated for their preparation.
This test covers science material from 5th to 8th grade.
3. Grading
Exams – 40%
Quizzes and
Worksheets – 10%
Laboratory
Investigations –
40%
Homework
Assignments – 10%
Expect an
assessment once
every two weeks.
The assessments
are focused on
the material
covered during
the previous
weeks and will
use questions that
are similar to
those on the ILSA.
All tests will be a
combination of
multiple choice
and free response
questions.
During some of
our classes you
will be working in
cooperative
groups. This work
will be graded
and count as a
quiz grade.
In addition,
traditional
quizzes will be
given
periodically.
Laboratory study
is an important
component to
any science.
Some of the work
will be done in
class, some at
home.
We will be
completing
about 10 labs per
quarter.
Due dates for
labs will be given
on the weekly
schedule.
Homework will be
assigned in this class
to introduce or
reinforce a concept.
Homework may be
assigned from the
