BSBADM502B Manage Meetings 2
1. BSBADM502B Manage meetings 2
What are the different types of formal meetings that might be held in a workplace and what purpose
do they serve?
– Board meetings
Information on current organisational status
– Staff meetings
Productivity, current procedures and changes in procedures
– Union meetings
Ensure all staff know their rights in the workplace
– Occupational health and safety meetings
For staff and OH&S officials to ensure organisation is running safely and within compliances
How do you ensure that the formal meetings you organise are productive and effective, not simply
time–wasters?
– Clearly identify the purpose of the meeting
– Identify major points and topics to be discussed before the meeting
– Also by staying on track and bringing it back to topic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chairperson should bring the meeting back to order. The chairperson can even opt to writing the
ideas on a board and they can be brought out for discussion later on if time persists.
Why is a chairperson necessary?
The chairperson ensure the meeting time is well spent and not wasted. They bring the conversation
back to the agenda if participants begin to digress from the topics of discussion.
Who should chair meetings? Why?
The role of chair should rotate with each meeting. This allows those to gain experience
communicating with colleagues and staff.
How long should each meeting last? Why?
The meeting should only last as long as necessary in order to achieve its purpose.
How can active participation in meetings be encouraged?
Acknowledge the participants when ideas are spoken. Thank them for their input. Allow participants
to put something on the agenda either before the meeting or for the next.
Why are minutes necessary?
Minutes are necessary for the organizations records. They allow those who did not participate to
2. know where the organization is at with decisions. This is the same for stake holders and
shareholders.
Prevents any misunderstanding if who is responsible for any changes. They can also enable people
to look back on actionable items and give a starting point for the following meeting.

5. 1979, p. 224), and discours image when translated as "image discourse" is not very clear, since it is
referring to film, which is made up of images.
The following rough spots occur only once each: "Unusual" (p. 5) translates weakly insolite, which
has also the connotation of strange, disquieting, surprising, unexpected, and uncanny. A "slice of
cinema" (p.14) would be preferable to a "piece of cinema." "Narrative agency" rather than
"instance"; "de–realization"or "de–realizing" rather than "unrealizing."
"A seminal concept" (p. 58) doesn 't really render une notion gigogne
(again the idea of embedded concepts). The title of Lang 's film which is translated by The Damned
is actually M. "Signifying statements" should be "semenes" (p. 26). I have not found an English
equivalent for mise en grilles, which refers to a gridlike breakdown of linguistic units and which
Taylor translates by "pigeon–holing"

The beginnings and ends of what we choose to call centuries are almost invariably years of little
significance. But there is little agreement over when the twentieth century c.e. arrived, and there
were several points both before the year 2000 (the collapse of the Soviet Union, the reunification of
Germany, the surge of globalization from the mid–1990s) and afterward (9/11, or the global
recession of 2008) when one could quite plausibly argue that a new era had begun. A compelling
case can be made for viewing the decades of the global scramble for colonies after 1870 as a
predictable culmination of the long nineteenth century, which was ushered in by the industrial and
political revolutions of the late 1700s. But at the same time, without serious attention to the
processes and misguided policies that led to decades of agrarian and industrial depression from the
late 1860s to the 1890s, as well as the social tensions and political rivalries that generated and were
in turn fed by imperialist expansionism, one cannot begin to comprehend the causes and
consequences of the Great War that began in 1914. That conflict determined the contours of the
twentieth century in myriad ways. On the one hand, the war set in motion transformative processes
that were clearly major departures from those that defined the nineteenth–century world order. On
the other, it perversely unleashed forces

A glance at the table of contents is enough to show that the sequence of chapters is erratic and closer
inspection reveals that the scope of individual chapters is far wider than appears at first sight.
Philosophic doctrines (which, according to the author, are the basis of the talismanic art), theory of
magic, astronomical, astrological and physical lore, extensive directions for the practice of the art,
and accounts of the peoples by whom it is employed are jumbled together throughout the book, with
no discernible guiding principle. If a systematic arrangement is anywhere perceptible, it is in the
astrological and astronomical material, though even this is far from selfcontained or methodically
ordered. Subjects which belong together are separated (e.g., the geographical sections on pp.171 ff.
and 394 ff.), long, discursive definitions, appearing in unexpected places, further break the sequence
(e.g., pp.78 and 343)–. and there is a great deal more to make the reader's task more difficult. This
manner of writing may well be intentional, whether to make the magical sections appear less suspect
by interlarding them with theoretical passages, or to make certain doctrines seem less strange by
administering them in small doses, or to demonstrate the equal validity of the magical and
philosophical material, or for a combination of all three reasons. At all events, a similar method of

14. Body Modification And Human Physical Appearance
From culture to culture, body modification can be viewed as a true positive expression of one's
identity or viewed as forbidden and the person is shunned from society forever. In corporate
America, it is considered taboo and will not earn respect or a job. In rural America, you are
perceived as unclean and destroying the perfect body God gave you. But, in urban America on the
streets of Brooklyn, the person is unique and exciting. Body modification or the deliberate altering
of the human anatomy or human physical appearance (Dictonary.com) can be achieved in many
ways. Some of the more extreme ways are facial and body piercing and tattoos however, something
as small as a basic ear piercing still counts as modification. Many African and ... Show more content

These people could show their similarity through the use of similar scarification patterns, similar ear
stretching methods, and similar neck stretching technics. This modification also showcases the
expressions of the wearer. The wearer could have scars to show age and importance or scars to show
marital status and wealth. Tribal people, such as PaDaung women of Thailand, use different forms
of modification to flaunt their wealth and marital status in the act of stretching their neck with brass
rings. The origins of this tradition is said to be due to "rendering the women incapable of farming or
heavy labor" (Jefkin–Elnekave) which in turn protects the women from being kidnapped by slave
traders which is very common in this part of Asia. So, in essence this form of modification actually
protects these women. This implies that modification as a whole is used in most cultures as a form
of invisibility. People in these cultures ultimately, assume the characteristics associated the
modification and strive to live up to the ideals the modification stands for.
Furthermore, the Bume of Ethiopia use body scarification as a form of personal achievement earned
after a hunt or kill. These scares are given in a complex ritual. This modification is a rite of passage
into adulthood for many African tribes. The scarring emulates the manliness of the wearer. The scars
show off their achievements and are very prestigious and aid these men in finding a
