BIO:
I have received my master degree in civil engineering (Applied Physics) from Ghent University in 2008. During my master I got really interested in designing algorithms to tackle complex problems.
During my master thesis I wrote a numerical solver to simulate the interaction between an RF antenna in a Tokamak reactor (Nuclear fusion) and the nuclear plasma. This research led to an FWO grant which allowed me to pursue it for another two years.
In april 2010 I was recruited as the first bioinformatics PhD student at IBCN-iMinds. We designed high performance algorithms in the area of DNA sequence analysis. The algorithms were written in C++ en Java en distributed using MPI and Hadoop. A...
